have you ever co-written a fic before? no, because collabing scares me. in the sense that i would be worried that i wasn't writing to my co-authors expectations and also ... if they don't directly align to My Vision i will also throw up. so. i don't think co-writing is in the cards for me

what's a wip that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? when i say i have...a master timeline full of every event that happened to bellatrix, andromeda, narcissa, sirius, and regulus.... detailing their time at school, what classes they take, key life events...just for me to use to write a massive canon-compliant fic of their lives.... i have put in HOURS and HOURS of work into that wip but i don't think it'll ever be done and/or see the light of day

what are your writing strengths? i really love writing detailed, descriptive interior scenes. it's one of my favorite things to do! i see every interior scene in my fic like a little still-life painting and i want the reader to be able to visualize the same still-life im seeing in my head in their head!!

what are your writing weaknesses? commas </3 grammar in general... like sorry 2 ur honor. but who fucking cares? do you get the vibes? are the vibes there? that's all i care about.

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? i love it!! i've learned a lot of fun phrases from it !!

May I ask what you think Jack’s spirit animal is? I’ve heard some people say raccoon or wolf pup and that is so friggin cute 😖💕

hi!!! i’ve yapped about this a little on my main blog, but thanks for the excuse to talk about it here :3

so the animal symbolism in red dead redemption is fantastic, with two distinctive animals used to signify high and low honor in arthur— a buck for high honor (prey animal, usually symbolically associated w the cycles of nature and rebirth, as deer shed and regrow their antlers as seasons go on), and a coyote for low honor (predatory animal often associated with cunning and trickery, but also curiosity).

with jack, i like to think his high honor animal is a maned wolf. further explanation under the cut :)

so, for clarification, despite the name, maned wolves aren’t wolves! they’re named after wolves, and are often described as “foxes on stilts” due to their physical resemblance to foxes, but they’re genetically distinguishable from both. they happen to be the only species in the “golden dog”/chrysocyon genus. they’re omnivorous, solitary predators, and the dark mane on their necks raises when they sense danger.

i know picking a predatory animal to represent high honor is a little strange, but allow me to explain. the maned wolf is notoriously solitary— aka not a pack animal, like the wolf they’re named after. (sound familiar?) it’s also compared a lot to foxes, due to physical resemblance, but afaik they aren’t genetically related to foxes - and they’re canines, not vulpines. they’re skittish, shy, and only attack humans if they feel threatened, and can make a loud roar/bark noise to communicate over long distances.

jack happens to be the only person left of the marston family, as well as one of the few surviving associates/“members” (i guess, but he was like. four. so i hesitate to give him that status) of the van der linde gang. he’s named after his father, and is repeatedly confused with him/told how much he resembles him as an adult. he deals with the aftermath and repercussions of his father’s actions, and perpetuates the cycle of violence despite knowing it’s exactly what everyone who loved him died to prevent. i think it fits that, even with high honor, jack’s associated animal is predatory. he’ll live the rest of his life running from his own choices, just like his father, and he’ll never be able to escape his legacy.

in terms of his low honor animal, i usually default to a wolf. why? similar answer: repetition of the cycle, living his life dwarfed by his father’s shadow. becoming the monster you were told to be better than and grow beyond. my slightly more unhinged take would be a bear— in part because of that time he got mauled half to death by one, and i think i’m funny— but also because bears happen to be largely solitary predators, and, well. y’know. both wolves and bears are also considered highly dangerous apex predators, so do with that what you will.

i lean more towards wolf, though, if i’m being honest. one of jack’s defining character traits is the way he feels inferior to john, or how he feels he needs to prove himself in order to earn his affection and approval. so much so, that he’ll do things that he knows damn well his parents wouldn’t want him to do, like go hunt down a full grown grizzly bear by himself, or kill a man in cold blood and doom himself to becoming an outlaw when he’s only nineteen years old. he’s my favorite character, and thus i must emotionally torment him in the most psychologically devastating ways possible.

How amazing is it to see Austin smiling so much?!?! Hanging out with Callum and the MOTA cast back-to-back with Timmy and Zendaya and Flo… he’s with his tribe and I love that for him. He’s around people who are pursuing their artistic dreams AND enjoying genuine romantic connections. It must be comforting and inspiring!

Honestly, tho, even with that joy I’ve sensed a slight shadow on his heart, probably with Lisa Marie’s anniversary and birthday plus the pressure of his situationship status.

I mean, I have no idea as I like to say. I’m literally watching images and video of him on a screen so what the hell do I know? I could be just projecting or imagining things. But he’s so sensitive and I feel like he’s finally processing more of the whirlwind and layered emotions of the past 2 years (ok five if you count making Elvis). He looks great and happy AND a little tired and done.

I think it’s because he’s around actual peers and people he respects. When you’re in trusted company, you can let your guard down. When you let your guard down, you start feeling things that haven’t been exactly safe to feel up to that point. I think he’s had to be so guarded, especially the past year since the awards season momentum turned into some snarky backlash (I won’t name any names Vanessa) followed by the awareness that K was all about the shallow and he was unhappy with that.

Anyway, I’m just spitballing here and this has zero basis in anything other than my own thoughts — but you know how I like to come into your asks and speculate! 😂

I agree with everything you said. He is looking energetically happy, and he feels so much lighter. Of course he's a little tired from traveling all over the place for his work, but he is so much happier with his good friends and people that care about him. No baggage from the baby food girl

Originating from Poland, Mary came to the states in search of a better life. She met Sean while he was still missing from the gang, kept him company and became his lover in the cabin up in Tall Trees. They later joined back up with the Van Der Linde gang, where she resided up until Sean started flirting with Karen. After this, she became a lone ex-outlaw, running from the law. Later, when she learned of Sean's death from Charles, she helped both him and John exact their revenge, dying in the process.

When it comes to relationships, Mary was Sean's lover for about a year or so, up until a few weeks until the blackwater heist. She was also very close with Charles and had a father-daughter relationship with Hosea.

Her horse is named Philemon - a blue roan missouri fox trotter

lately I've just been going to classes, doing homework, catching up on sleep when I can... OH and I've been a little more involved with a writing club on campus, so that's been really nice!! I can't believe I only have a few weeks left to be able to go and then I'll be graduating with my bachelors degree !!!!! it kind of blows my mind that I'm finally reaching that point after six years; there are so many times when I thought I wouldn't but I DID (also reminder to literally everyone that your own pace is the best pace)

I keep wishing that I had the headspace for a new fandom or character obsession because I just need a funky little guy to keep me going sometimes </3 HA but I did get to read the new hunger games novel and um....... suzanne collins never misses. BUT AT WHAT COST </3 sobs. Oh and I also finally watched the social network (2010) and I'm not sure I have a lot of thoughts on it that can be put into words rn but I DEF had brainworms about it the entire next day

Not My Mark - a messed up dad!Vax fic set in a A/B/O universe, featuring the Briarwoods being awful

Stars In Your Eyes - some Vax/Allura exploration, focusing on Allura's pov

Separation Burns - an au where Vax and Vex never reunited after Vex left Vax all alone in the woods when they escaped from Syngorn and Vax was picked up by Professor Byron Anders

Ring For Me - a story exploring Vex's feelings on her secret marriage to Percy during the year off, and everything that happened when the break ended

Thorned Feathers Make A Man - an au where Vax was killed by the Briarwoods in Emon and becomes a vampire after the fact

Present - a follow-up story to Kinship And Makeup, explores Vax's trauma some more and builds on the budding friendship between Vax and Cassandra

And the stories cut were;

A Red Dead Redemption 2 meets Vox Machina au - basically, a young Vax and Vex end up in the Van der Linde gang during the events of RDR2

A football au - a story following each member of Vox Machina struggle in the world of football before coming together and starting their own club

an apartment au - a multi-crossover slice of life fic in modern day exandria

vaxleth fluff - taking place during the year off, Vax and Keyleth take a stroll and think on everything that has happened and may happen

a rewrite of an old, weird multi-fandom crack fic I wrote as a teenager

a fallout au - modern day Exandria is turned into an irradiated wasteland and years later society tries to rebuild itself with difficulty

a stardew valley au - Percy arrives in Pelican Town after escaping the Briarwoods and meets some really interesting characters

psychopomp!vax au - this would have been a series of snapshots of Vax helping various CR characters pass on after a reader-insert introduction??? was also possibly going to have a sister fic exploring the idea of Vax getting an extra week to get his affairs in order before he ascended

Charles Smith x Reader (Gender-Neutral/Non-Binary)

Scenario Starter Number 17: “Please look at me.”

Warnings: Sinning once more for hurting this man : (, angst, reader and Charles have been a couple years before joining the Van Der Linde gang au, Mentions of cheating (Arthur with Reader), oops

“Please look at me.”

Your voice is shaking as the guilt eats you up whole. You have never witnessed this man ever cry until now. In all your years of being together, you have never seen him break down like this. You didn’t expect this at all. You had thought he was losing feelings for you so of course, you started to distance yourself.

Why wouldn’t you? You didn’t want to stay with someone who no longer looks at you with love and care. Sure, he has his moments but he’s been detached and stressed from moving from Colter to Horseshoe Overlook. It’s been a stressful few months, you should have given him the benefit of a doubt, but you didn’t.

Instead, you made a mistake and now you’re paying the price for it.

You go to beg him again, ignoring the obvious eavesdroppers in the group, but he finally looks at you. His eyes are misty, filled with hurt, distrust, and it nearly kills you right there and then. He lets out a sigh as his hand goes to fix his hair.

“I don’t want to look at you. Looking at you right now fills me with disgust,” He states honestly.

Seeing your eyes water at this makes him look away. You reach for his free hand and he freezes at your touch. He never freezes with your touch, he always leans into it. You fucked up.

“It was just one night. It was a stupid mistake, it’ll never happen agai-“

He cuts you off with a glare. He takes a moment to control his anger and speaks as calmly as he can. “A mistake? You were supposed to be back within an hour or so. You deliberately stayed the night in the middle of nowhere with him. He admitted you seduced him. What you did was not a mistake but a choice,” Charles states his eyes growing cold.

“Charles I love you. I never meant to hurt you. I had too many dri-“

He cuts you off again. This time the anger and disappointment rising as he tries desperately to keep his cool. “I would’ve believed your tale if Arthur hadn’t come clean first. It’s sad that my friend did this to me but he came clean and ratted you out. You had no intentions to tell me what you did. He told me drinks were involved after his camp was set-up. You knew your intentions the second you decided not to come home straight to me,” He says.

When you can’t say anything to defend yourself he scoffs and continues. “Not even that. Did you really think I wouldn’t notice the looks you gave Arthur at Colter leading up to here? It’s the same look I always gave you and that you used to give me. I can only assume that you started to take an interest in him and acted on it. That’s the only way that Arthur would have hurt me like that but for you to hurt me like this? It’s like I don’t even know you anymore.”

You feel sick. You feel so sick and disgusted with yourself. It’s like your gut keeps twisting into knots. You hate what you did now that you see the aftermath. It wasn’t worth hurting Charles like this. It wasn’t worth feeling a different person’s touch because you thought Charles and you were slowly losing love. It was your fault and now you don’t know if there is a way to salvage it. Especially, with the way he is looking and speaking to you.

“You threw away all of our years together…” He says seeming to no longer have any anger in him, just disappointment.

Your eyes widen and bring up the hand you are desperately holding onto and make it cup your cheek. You plea with him. “Charles, look at me. I’m still your partner. I’m still the person you love.”

He shakes his head and pulls away. The sting in your heart is growing and you can’t fix it. This is unfixable.

He confirms this. “You threw away all of our years together. I wanted to live the rest of my life with you but not anymore. I thought I can work past this before confronting you but I can’t. I just don’t get how you can do that to a person, make them feel as if they are nothing and then expect nothing to change. By the end of the week either I’m leaving this group or you are.”

Before you can beg him more or he can spare you another glance he turns to leave needing to be alone. You watch him stalk off until you gather yourself and take a look around. The eavesdroppers in the group are glaring at you and you already know that it is you who is leaving this group.

You are going to leave the one man who was your peace all because you fucked up and hurt him. Maybe you deserve the lone path.
