Okay so here’s the deal

Depending on wear the boys work, the outfit is different. Le Petit Chat Boys will get to wear fancy maid dresses (nothing sexual for Azul, Jamil, and Riddle. Though the Maid dresses will not be sexual). Opulent Lilypond boys will wear diner waiter outfits with 1950s fashion inspo.

Also each boy has a fruit pattern they have on their apron (and maybe other parts). That’s what the pictures are for

Piketail - River Colony Ranger

Parents: Rapidsnap and Creekbend

Siblings: Swiftmask and Minnowgill

Currently training Falcon

Bold and cunning, Piketail loves her stupid brothers even if they are daft pretty much all the time. She takes little notice of her mother’s snobbish comments and tries to encourage Minnowgill when those same comments get him down…toms are so sensitive! 

Piketail used to love hanging out with her brothers and Wolfthorn when they were all New-Claws, but Swiftmask and Minnowgill grew apart as Rangers and Wolfthorn left the Colony to sate his wanderlust. Luckily Piketail still has her reasonable best friend Silverblaze. They spend a lot of time working with the Colony’s mentors, training Ivy and Falcon with the other New-Claws. It’s a good distraction for Piketail, otherwise her mind races with conspiracy theories. And she loves spending time with her friend and her niece, anyway. 

Piketail can be pretty intense and usually isn’t afraid to speak her mind…unless she thinks it might get her killed…

Secretly, Piketail wants to figure out a way to get rid of Captain Rainfall–and of course also Rainfall’s sadistic brother and Second, Iceclaw. She can’t prove it, but she knows that blood is on their paws! Pondripple was last seen arguing with Rainfall about the Elders situation, and then he disappears? Streamleap? Lilypond? Floodrush? Blazeheart is still missing and no one even seems to care! Or is too scared to talk about it. Beachnose never came back after patrol… So many Rangers. It’s too much to be a coincidence. 

Her brother Swiftmask doesn’t believe that such heinous crimes could be committed by cats chosen by the Spirits Beyond. Come on, Swiftmask! How can you be so blind?! Piketail sees the potential for her brother to one day become River Colony’s Captain. The Colony admires his courage, integrity, and fair judgement. If only he saw it himself. Saw what good he could do. Brought justice back to River Colony! 

“I will uncover this! And when I do, you will have no choice but to act!”

Piketail knows she must be cautious in her investigations. It’s hard to know who to trust in the Colony, otherwise she could end up under the Second’s murderous claws…

saw a video from a very blissful seeming old man in a lilypond on Instagram a while back n he was talkin about how a lot of whimsy and wonder for the world around you is lost when you put labels on stuff and ive been thinkin about it a lot. talked about how when you have a label for somethin you constrict it and put it in a box and you don't really look at it on a deeper level and used trees as an example, how if you didn't know what a tree was you'd probably be fascinated by it n point out all the little details n colors and shapes and things inside of it but someone will stroll by and say "well that's just a tree man" and then you go "oh . Guess that's a tree" and like. yeah dude. shit

It's something I wanna integrate into how I go about life in general but I think it's especially important to keep in mind when it comes to defining and labeling yourself and your identity and whatnot. won't work for everybody obviously but just accepting things as they are can be real nice. in general I think the key to maintaining whimsy is to apply that kinda logic to stuff. makes me think about how when you're a kid everything feels magical because you don't fully understand everything and you're constantly experiencing new things. you'll never quite get that back but i think that breakin down that gut reaction of "oh well that's just xyz" when you see somethin you've seen before is a way to reinstate it a lil bit. gotta learn how to really look at and appreciate things again. play a little pretend if you have to. get a little silly with it . I've only reaped benefits so far. but im just rambling who knows

Hi, person with some musical and technical knowlage, with both questions, and some follow-ups to other people's questions:

Regarding the dynamics question, it's implemented in MIDI via velocity, so, in theory, if you just increese the velocity by a set ammount at a certian point, for a certian string (p, ff, etc), it should work fine

Following on from that, using Capital Letters to denote accents (raise the velocity for a single note, then return to the baseline) ought to work nicely

Then, taking it to a stupid extreme, text styling, for example, if it's in the cursive style, make it legato, which then opens the tin of worms of digital legato, but, making the notes playback for 105% of their regular length works way fucking better than it should

Have you considered a method of implementing octives? I've though about it a bit, and, other than general muscal direction (for example, if the last three notes 123 are all lower than the previus note, drop 4 by an octive, visa versa for up, no change for other situations), I don't think it's very possible to implement in a musical way

How do you select the instrument for each post?

Have you considered using a system like LilyPond in order to generate scores for each post?

To be completely honest I don't want to deal with dynamics, if I do add them it'll probably be in like version 3 of the script at best, version 2 is already gonna be an undertaking.

Copy pasting text from tumblr into powershell means it does not carry the formatting into the script and I really don't want to do that manually

I definitely want to add octaves, but figuring out an intuitive way of doing it that allows for maximum manipulation by asks is proving difficult. Your idea is good but I'd rather go for something

If you look closely at the formatted text you'll see some letters bolded and italicized, those are the letters used to choose the instrument. I've explained in further detail in the past but basically it just sees what instrument it can find in the text first.

I have never heard of lilypond and I do not want to learn entirely new notation software for silly gimmick blog, sorry. if you want the midi file for one of the posts so far i haven't deleted any though
