It's warming up so let me give y'all your yearly summer reminder: if you see a "ladies get in free or reduced drink prices" at bars this is not a rare form of "female privilege" it is because you are the product that is on sale.

The bars are advertising to men that there will be a lot of women there who will be drunk. No (osa) man wants to go to a bar that's a sausage fest, so bars know that letting y'all get intoxicated for free (making you vulnerable and providing incentive for you to come) makes male paying customers come in. [This is also why they are allowing teenagers in with shitty fake IDs. They know you are underage girls, they just don't care about your safety. If they could advertise they have underage drunk girls there, they would. Stay Home.]

These spaces typically have an air of male entitlement that's stronger than other bars because they feel like they are already paying for your time and that you owe them for getting the free drinks. That your sexual availability to them is "part of the deal" for them having to pay to get in or to drink and you not having to. All the men are already walking around with the "I bought you would drink so you owe me" mentality in bars like this. So, while we get into the fun seasons of the year, remember to avoid places that purposely set themselves up as a lion's den. If they are advertising that a lot of women will be there, they are not doing it for women. They are doing it to use you as bait to catch more paying customers who will feel sexually entitled to you.

Be selective where you show up and allow yourself to be vulnerable. Have fun, but mitigate some of the risks you're going to be exposed to if you can.

'Radical feminist' is a role you have to perform and actively work towards not a label you can identify into. Lest any of y'all have forgotten: we are meant to be examples to the women and girls around us that you can exist and have a fulfilling life while defying patriarchal teachings and practices.

Hey, do y'all think we could stop doing the following:

Post about sex-based injustice women in foreign countries are facing.

UK/USA Radfems: So how is the trans crowd going to pretend sex doesn't exist now??!??!

These posts are important for radical feminism on their own, without connection to the trans issue. We make plenty of posts about the damages of denying the sexes' existences, one that better address that particular issue with plenty of fitting example of sex-based oppression.

However, that is not the only goal of radical feminism and I'm sure it comes across as dismissive and performative to non-UK/USA Radfems when we only use their issues to point out sex based oppression exist. Especially when we have local examples of sex-based oppression in the UK/USA at our disposal.

The issues that are affecting the women in those areas are worthy of being talked about and taken seriously without any association with gender critical arguments. We should work harder at not using them as tokens, but rather realize that they are real women with their own societal misogyny that deserves the same respect and consideration we afford to western feminists.

All of y'all pretending like heterosexual women are the only ones who experience misogyny, or experience the most misogyny, are not (just) being homophobic, you're being misogynistic.

You're denying women's sex based oppression is real or it's severity. So maybe sit down and shut up and realize that we are still women despite the fact that we are not sleeping with men. You have the ability to make the choice not to sleep with men too. It's not an inaction unique to homosexuals.

I will spread any feminist praxis I want, and if it's insulting for me to reiterate the ideals we preach in these spaces because I'm a homosexual then you can go ahead and be insulted. SSA women have just as much claim to these spaces as you do because we are women and these spaces are for fighting misogyny, which we all experience. It's not just for tackling the misogyny y'all are uncomfortable with, it's for tackling all of it. Get with the program, ladies.

The people who act like the patriarchy isn't just describing how men have positioned themselves in a hierarchy above women in society makes me want to pull my hair out. You do know all oppressive systems are describing two groups of individuals right? Every man is an oppressor because they all benefit from this oppressive system. There is no way to be a man removed from the system or just as hurt by the patriarchy because the patriarchy is just describing how men benefit by subjugating women. No way to be a member of the class benefiting from an oppressive structure and be removed from or equitably harmed by that structure. This is the basic foundational theory of oppressive structures. If you can't understand this you need to fucking shut up

The gendered expectation that men may not enjoy that is expected out of them does not come with equivalent consequences as women, first off. Secondly, the gendered expectations that are imposed upon them are in most cases highly positive. Traits that put you and keep you in positions of power. Gendered expectations for men are to uplift them, not to subjugate them, so it is not anywhere near equivalent of the gender subjugation of women. Shut the fuck up, you fucking morons.
