Seven months. It had been over seven months since Count Vladislaus Straud had gotten a chance to be in the same space as Lilith Vatore. She had been crafty. He had been watching. She had been keeping to her home or leaving town completely to go who knows where. But tonight. Tonight she had ventured out into the snow covered land of Forgotten Hollow and the Count seized his opportunity. He couldn't decide what he wanted to do the most - kiss her or wring her neck.

So many things he wanted to say, not all of them good - but instead he just stared at her as she stared at him. Lilith had a feeling he'd follow her when she left her house that night. She knew Vlad had been watching and waiting to get her alone.

"You know, I didn't come out here for company. I wanted some time to myself." Lilith says rudely to the vampire next to her. Ever since she had walked in on what looked like to be a moment between Jackson and Olivia, she had kept her offspring close. Very close. She knew she had gotten more than overly possessive with Jackson but she couldn't seem to help herself. She made him into a vampire and therefor it feels like he belongs to her. The whole thing had given her new thoughts about Count Straud. Is that why he gravitates to her and she to him? Is it all just the bond between maker and offspring? Or is there more to it?

The Count didn't rise to her bait to bicker, he just simply kept staring at Lilith. It was almost like he had to convince himself she's real. Lilith let's out an annoyed huff and turns to leave. Vladislaus seems to be a step ahead of her and catches her before she can leave.

Lilith can't seem to find her will to fight him. Something about him touching her again feels natural and her body has missed it. Her hand seems to act on its own accord and begins caressing him in return.

"You miss me." Vladislaus whispers into her ear as he moves his hand from her chest to begin to remove her coat. Lilith says nothing but seems to be joining him in his thought process. Her gloved hand starts grasping at the buttons on his coat, despite not being able to see what she's doing. 

A ringtone breaks through the silent winter air. The two vampires break apart faster than the human eye can track. Lilith is gone in an instant and the Count is angrily hunting down the source of the ringtone.

"I suggest you forget what you saw or I'll make sure you never see anything ever again!" Count Straud threatens the woman. He's seen her twice. Once when she went into the Vatore Estate to visit Jackson. The other time she was taking pictures around Forgotten Hollow. Normally he'd just kill her but clearly she knows Jackson, which could cause problems if she ends up drained of blood laying in the snow or mysteriously vanishes. 

Olivia is scared. It's obvious to her that the man is a vampire, she had seen enough between him and Lilith to know it's true. She hadn't meant to spy on them at all, she had come to town to take a few more photos. She wasn't even planning to visit Jackson while she's in town, given what happened the last time. But no, she had to come across Lilith locked in some kind of embrace with another male. Part of her wanted to run and tell Jackson what his precious Lilith has been up to but she'd rather live. "I didn't mean to see....that."

The Count lets out an undignified snort. He doesn't care if she meant to or not. The fact is she did see him with Lilith and what's worse, she ruined their moment. If she hadn't been around, he would have had his Lilith in the snow or taken her back to his bed or coffin.

"I won't say anything. I promise." Olivia promises, meaning it.

i've noticed that particular costume dress looks phenomenal on extremely buff men. ethren and dillon both have their fitness bars maxed out and they both rock it.

The last encounter Lilith had with Count Vladislaus Straud had been burning in her entire being. She had a wonderful Valentine's Day with Jackson. Being with him helps Lilith forget the pull she feels towards her maker, but not even her feelings for Jackson and the bond they share makes it stay away forever.

Lilith managed to avoid seeking him out for almost a month but tonight she felt so restless she gave in. 

She didn't intend to engage in physical activity with him, just talk. She keeps her distance or at least tries to. 

"Are you attending vampire counsel meeting this weekend?" She asks, making small talk. She knows he won't go. He rarely goes to anything outside of the end of the year meeting and his favorite, the celebration of the Saint Valentine's Day bloodbath. 

"No." Vladislaus replies. He knows she knows this and he knows she sought out his company. He watches her talk about something to do with the counsel, seems she's really gotten more and more invested in it since her precious brother got married. He studies her face and her body, not really listening. Just taking her in. 

Unbeknownst to the pair of vampires, a mortal has stumbled upon them. Olivia Kim-Lewis hadn't meant to, just like last time. This time she was smart and silenced her phone before wondering about Forgotten Hollow. She had come to take more pictures for her paintings. There's something very alluring about Forgotten Hollow at night during the winter. Olivia slowly starts backing away the moment she sees them, the male vampire's warning ringing in her head. Thankfully, they're so wrapped up in talking to each other, they don't notice her. 

She knows she should just leave town. She knows this. August's voice is in her head telling her to leave.

She finds her body going to where Jackson lives, if you want to call it that. Exists more like it. Sometimes she still can't believe he's a vampire.

"Livvie?" He asks after he let's her inside. She looks troubled and it worries him. 

"I think there's something you should see." Olivia tells him. She knows it's risky. Extremely risky but Jackson has a right to know what his girlfriend has been doing. 

Jackson follows her, not really having a reason not to.

Olivia feels a mixture of two emotions when they arrive back at the graveyard by the Straud estate. Annoyance and relief. She doesn't take time to process them. All she sees is black mist appearing by the gate of the estate and Lilith Vatore is nowhere in sight.

Jackson is very confused but he remembers how excited Olivia can get when she finds something that sparks her creativity, though her face back at the house didn't really convey that emotion. "Did you see something for your paintings you wanted to show me?" He asks, he really doesn't care for being near Straud's Mansion. He hates the vampire and would gladly sharpen a stake for anyone who could actually kill him. 

Olivia laughs, mostly at herself. She should have known it wouldn't be this easy to expose Lilith. She knows she should stay out of it for the sake of her life but there's a part of her that thinks Jackson doesn't deserve this. That he deserves better than to be cheated on by some harlot vampire that has a weird and creepy attachment to him though she's clearly interested in someone else.

"Yeah..uh..the way the clouds..." She starts and frowns. She's lying. She shakes her head and looks back at the building behind them before hearing the front door slam shut. "I have something to tell you."

Jackson frowns and starts walking away from the grounds with Olivia. She seems to want to get far away from the place to tell him whatever it is she wants to say.

Present day Lilith, narrating: When we made our escape, we were certain we’d never lay eyes on Forgotten Hollow again. For several years, we lived large on a stolen fortune we thought would never run out. How could we have known any better? We’d never handled our own money in our lives. Of course, our naive illusions were quickly shattered. The economy tanked. The war started. We were broke and terrified of exposure. We drifted aimlessly, staying in whatever shitty little hovel we could scrounge up the pennies for. I stalked and killed and thieved to keep us going, but the well was running dry. We finally landed in Brindleton Bay, a dreary seaside town that perpetually stank of fish, where we rented an overpriced yet barely habitable room. The situation was untenable. I began to hatch a plan.

Lilith: Sorry I couldn’t bring more. They have a guard posted outside the blood bank now. I… subdued him then grabbed what I could. It wouldn’t be wise to go back.

Caleb: Thank you. You don’t have to-

Lilith: But I do. You won’t accept it any other way — of course, even if you did, pickings are slim lately — and I hardly want to watch you die for your morals. [sighs wearily] I’m just so goddamn tired.

We’re both tired, Caleb. The only thing I hate more than the fact that you won’t hunt is that you can’t. It makes you too vulnerable.

Caleb: [dismissively] I’m fine.

Lilith: You’re not! I’m not! [pauses meaningfully] I think it’s time we go home.

Caleb: Home? Lilith, you know we can never-

Lilith: It’s been thirty years. Not to be crass, but Mother and Father are dead and all that money is surely going to waste.

Caleb: If we show our faces in Willow Creek looking just like the day we left, we’ll be driven out by mobs with pitchforks before sunrise.

Lilith: We’ll obviously not show up as ourselves. We’ll procure fake documents — death and birth certificates, social security numbers, that sort of thing. We can pose as our own children.

Caleb: Do you not hear how preposterous that sounds? Assuming we could even get our hands on those things, no one would believe us.

Lilith: They’d be even less likely to believe we’re vampires. People don’t like things they can’t explain. If we provide an explanation to them, no matter how flimsy, they’ll gladly take it.

Caleb: There’s still too much risk.

Lilith: What risk? We could eat all of Willow Creek alive if we wanted! It’s not up for debate, Caleb. We’re the true and rightful heirs. It’s time we claim what’s ours, and no one will stand in our way.

Lilith and Count Vlad will spend the weekend at Lady Allegra's house. Surprisingly, Vlad flirted with Lady Allegra, despite only showing a very good friendship up until now.

gameplay-based render i guess?

in most of my vampire saves, I have either Lilith or Caleb start a vampire club. Because the Vatores are Nice Vampires™ they don't have vampire-related activities on the schedule, but they generally play/listen to music to accommodate Vlad, Elle, and Lilith. This is how meetings typically go - Elle and Lilith take to their instruments, Vlad loiters around to listen, Dillon finds a book and ignores the rest of the group, and Inna and Caleb hang out, often to play chess.

sidenote: once I sold all of the books in the DeVampiro house and replaced them with Wolfgang's books, with the result that Dillon ended up with the werewolf ally trait. I thought that was awesome, so now I just like to do that when I start a new save with them. Dillon gets to have human books once he gets over his bigotry! Please imagine that he is reading Scents and Sensibility or whatever Mr "Mulder" has released recently.
