ok hear me out
so you know lila’s bracelet
so i saw this thing on youtube posted about a year ago saying the top colors ( red and green) matched lila’s red jacket and green eyes. and the bottom colors matched cerise’s purple jacket and orange eyes. but the third one was missing so her other identity right?
and lila’s new identity as seen in the london special is blonde with blue eyes matching the middle bracelet
now i dont know if this is like a whole thing but i think its pretty dang good foreshadowing.
and im pretty proud of figuring something out myself :3
#like has this been established already?#lila rossi#cerise#ml spoliers#miraculous ladybug#she has too many moms now it make sense#IS SHE TRIPLETS?????

Heartache
"I am Heartache!" the akuma roared, "Everyone will know the pain I feel. Everyone keeps pain bottled up inside and I'm tired of hurting!"
Ladybug and Chat Noir looked around their surroundings. When people were hit, they were forced to admit things that hurt them. They were shouting how much they hated their jobs, some of them how much they hated their families, some were saying how much they hated the person they were dating. It wasn't their best day.
They carefully avoided the attacks, but Ladybug accidentally got hit. She collapsed on the roof and curled up in a ball, trying to keep her thoughts inside. She didn't.
"I wish I was never made Ladybug! I wish I wasn't the Guardian! I wish I could be normal! I wish the boy I have a crush on liked me back!" she shouted.
No one spoke a word. Chat hovered over her and frowned. In a way, it humanized her for all of Paris. They had all seen a heroine and savior, but here was this girl, terrified of what she had been doing. She hadn't wanted to save them, but she was forced to. They watched as Ladybug began to sob. Chat Noir quickly picked her up and rushed away.
Chat settled them against a rooftop, hidden from view. Ladybug curled up in his lap and continued to cry. The Weilder of Destruction held her and purred, hoping to soothe her. Her sobs quickly turned into sniffles and then stopped, all together. The Weilder of Creation took a deep breath and pushed away from Chat's chest.
"Thank you, Chat." she whispered, "Let's go get the akuma."
"Ladybug, you just-" he began.
"It's part of the job, Chat." she answered, with a smile "Think....Elsa. Conceal; don't feel. Don't let it show."
As she jumped onto the next roof and rushed towards the akuma, Chat Noir couldn't help but wonder how many fake smiles she had worn.
Adrien was walking back onto campus when he heard something. It sounded like arguing.
'Maybe, I can stop an akumatization from happening. Bugaboo will be so proud on me! '
Adrien crouched and moved closer to the sounds of the yelling. He could easily transform from the spot up ahead and prevent anything from getting out of control. Adrien peered around the corner of the building and watched as Lila shoved Marinette down on the ground.
"You're just as pathetic as I thought!" Lila sneered, "Soon you'll be lonely and friendless. Everyone will think it was your own fault. Once I win, Adrien will cast you aside. He already hates you. Everyone thinks so and what everyone think, is seen as true. I have all of them wrapped around my finger. It's only a matter of time until I get you expelled again."
Lila laughed and walked away. Marinette laid still for a moment, on the ground.
'How long has this been going on? Why hasn't Marinette said anything about this?'
Adrien walked closer to confront Marinette about what he just witnessed.
"Conceal; don't feel." She sighed, "Don't let it show."
Adrien froze. He watched as Marinette dusted herself off and adjusted her hair. Marinette smiled and walked away, heading towards the classroom. She never even noticed he was there.
'Marinette is Ladybug. Lila has been hurting M'Lady. She's been suffering silently this whole time. That bitch is going down!'
Adrien sat across from Mrs. Rossi, in their home.
"I'm sorry for the sudden visit, but I really need to talk to you about your daughter." Adrien declared, "I thought I should tell you everything before she ends up sued with a mountain of lawsuits."
"Sued?" she shouted, "Lawsuits?"
"Well," he answered, "she's been sexually harassing me. Father takes those kinds of things seriously. He even bans people from events and photoshoots."
"Why would you sue your girlfriend?" Mrs. Rossi asked "I'm sure if you told her, she would stop. Maybe she misunderstood something."
"Mrs. Rossi, I am not dating your daughter. I have never dated your daughter." Adrien replied, blushing, "I'm actually in love with a girl with black hair and blue eyes. She....she's my best friend. She's amazing, confident, and smart."
'He really seems to like this girl. Why would Lila tell me they were together? He doesn't seem to be lying to me. I wonder what kind of lies my daughter has been telling. It's obvious she's already lied to me.'
Adrien continued with a smile, "She reminds me of Ladybug. I even call her my 'Everyday Ladybug'."
"That failure?" Lila's mother questioned, before she could stop herself.
"Failure?" Adrien shouted in surprise.
He quickly brought out his phone and brought up Alya's blog. He purposefully brought up Alya's first time interviewing Lila, saying they were best friends.
"This is from the first day your daughter came to school. She quickly became popular, saying she knew Ladybug's identity and they were best friends." the Agreste heir explained, "Ladybug actually stopped her in front of me and called her out on her lies. Ladybug said she had never been to Italy, nor had she ever saved your daughter. She went on to list that they weren't 'best friends'. Your daughter got akumatized and tried to force me on a date as an akuma."
"She got akumatized!" her mother exclaimed, "She never told me that!"
"She's been akumatized several times." he spoke, "I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but she keeps lying at school She keeps promising classmates help with all these 'celebrity connections'. Almost everyone believes her. I've been trying to ask out my best friend and your daughter keeps bullying her! The girl I like, she keeps trying to tell people your daughter is lying to them. Your daughter starts to cry and says she's not lying, so she ends up plays the victim. She's been saying my best friend is bullying her. I saw your daughter bully her with my own eyes. She laughed at my best friend, telling her how she was almost all alone. Anytime I try to be alone with her, your daughter gets my arm and drags me away."
Adrien lifted his shirts to reveal nail marks.
"I just saw Layla shove her down the other day." he continued, "She even told the school she has a disease that makes her fabricate evidence when she's under so much stress. She blames you for pulling her out of school so much and forcing her to travel with you, all over the world."
Mrs. Rossi couldn't stand to listen to another minute of this.
'I need to get to the bottom of this. I don't think he's lying, but I need to hear this from the school.'
"Let's get you to the school." she smiled, "I'm sure you would rather talk to that future girlfriend of yours."
Adrien blushed and looked down at his lap.
'Yeah. That's definitely a boy in love.'
"Marinette!" Adrien shouted, "Will you go out on a date with me?"
Marinette blushed as the whole class focused their attention on her.
"You.....You like me?" Marinette questioned.
"Yeah." Adrien spoke, rubbing the back of his neck, "I've been trying to find you all week. I wanted to ask you, privately, but I just couldn't resist waiting anymore. So will you?"
"Huh?" Marinette blinked, still confused.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" Adrien asked again.
"Oh!" Mari answered, "Yes!"
Adrien quickly hugged her. Marinette kept still as her face was buried in his chest. She could hear people around them cheer.
The moment was quickly ruined by Lila's sobbing.
"How could you cheat on me?" she cried out.
"What are you talking about, Lila?" Adrien asked, pretending to be confused, "I have a thing for girls with dark hair; you're hair is brown. Even my ex has dark hair."
Lila couldn't help, but see red. She had worked so hard on her plans. She told everyone they were dating and keeping it a secret from Marinette. She had even told them that she had talked to Adrien about Marinette's habit of following him; that he said to ignore her. Now, here he was asking her out! He ruined everything! Lila stormed through their classmates. No one had ever seen her so pissed off.
"I don't even know what you see in her!" she shouted, pointing at Mari, "She's a useless nobody!"
Adrien glared back, "For one thing, Layla, I know she's not a liar!"
"It's-" she began.
"Layla Rossi!" her mother called out from the doorway.
"Mama!" Lila yelped, in shock.
She turned her glare away from her daughter and smiled at the model, "Thank you, Adrien, for letting me know how much my daughter has been misbehaving in school. Oh, and I see you finally asked out the young lady. Congradulations on making her your girlfriend."
Adrien smiled, brightly, "Thank you, Mrs. Rossi."
"We're leaving." her mother stated.
"But-" Lila tried to argue.
"You are going back to Italy and I already have a school in mind." Colette declared, "You will also be starting the school year over."
Lila looked at her mother in tears, "Why?"
"Your fake lying disease, for one!" her mother snapped, "How about missing half the school year, while you were at home. You lied to me, Layla! You told me everyone in your school was akumatized and you were terrified!"
"Mama." the Italian pleaded, "Please. I want-"
"I no longer care what you want; I'll be doing whatever is necessary to make sure you get what you need! Layla Rossi, we are leaving and you are grounded until we leave! No phone. No internet. No electronics." Her mother insisted, "I've already disconnected your phone and changed the wi-fi password."
Alya looked between Lila, Adrien, Marinette, and Lila's mother. She didn't understand what was going on. Why would Lila say she was secretly dating Adrien, but he was asking out Marinette? Lila accused him of cheating, but he said she wasn't his type. Why was her mother thanking Adrien and why would Lila tell her mother everyone was akumatized? What lying disease? Why would her mother say she missed half the year? She went on trips with her. Now, she was about to change schools!
"What's going on?" Alya asked, interrupting the serious conversation.
"I had been looking for Marinette so I could confess. Instead, I saw Lila shove Marinette down and heard Lila threaten her. Lila was telling Mari how I would be 'hers' and how she had 'all of you guys wrapped around her finger'. She told Marinette she was going to be all alone; friendless. " Adrien admitted with a smile, "Once I saw Lila was bullying Marinette, I decided to tell her mother. I had to learn from her mother that she was telling people that we were dating."
"I listened to Adrien, but I also came to the school to see what was going on for myself." her mother declared, "I found out that Layla has been skipping school, telling you that she's been traveling with me, and that she has a lying disease that makes her fabricate evidence when she is stressed. I've already reprimanded your prinicipal for his idiocy. It sounds like you got caught up in a lie and just didn't want to be punished."
"So, the celebrities?" Rose squeaked.
"Lies." her mother huffed, "Like all of the trips."
"Why?" asked Kim.
"We would have been friends with you." spoke Mylene.
"Yeah." replied Ivan.
"Not all of us are celebrities like Chloe, Adrien, or Marinette." stated Sabrina.
"How is Marinette a celebrity?" bit out Lila.
"Marinette is Jagged Stone's personal designer." Adrien answered, "Not to mention, both my father and Style Queen love her work. I've already worn something designed by her on Father's runway. Style Queen, herself, offered her an internship."
Marinette blushed under all of the praise. Lila looked at her in shock.
'That's how she knew.'
"Marinette doesn't brag; that's another thing that sets her apart from you. She could be at my father's level and she would still be this sweet, innocent, humble person." Adrien continued, before kissing the top of her head.
Marinette quickly turned and buried her face in his chest. Everyone could see the soft look he was giving her. They could tell the Agreste heir really did care for the girl in his arms. Mrs. Rossi could see the hurt in her daughter's eyes, but more than anything, she could see anger.
"Layla, let's go." she spoke up.
"But-" Lila tried to beg.
"Now, before I send you to boot camp." her mother declared, walking out of the room.
Lila quickly followed. No one knew what to say. They were all still in a state of disbelief. They had listened to a liar and turned their backs on someone they trusted.
"Is it alright if I sit with you?" Adrien spoke up.
Marinette nodded her head. He smiled as he followed her to the seat in the back row. Adrien took out a piece of paper and quickly wrote something down. With a smirk, he slid it over to Marinette. Confused, Mari took the note and took a peek.
Got to have my partner's back; don't I, Bugaboo?
Marinette froze and could feel her face heat up. She turned and looked at him, only to find him already looking at her. He just smiled and winked. Immediately, Marinette buried her face in her hands.
'It really is him! Adrien was Chat all this time! I rejected him constantly and confessed to him twice!'
Adrien smiled to himself as he watched her blush creep up to the tips of her ears.
'Cute. My little bug. I knew I would recognize her. I even called her my 'Everyday Ladybug'.'
He slid the note towards himself and quickly added another comment. With another smile, he passed it back. He tapped it and let her look at the note.
I knew I would fall in love with the girl behind the mask.
Marinette quickly turned to him in shock. Very quickly, she added to the note.
Seriously?
Of course.
Marinette looked at the paper in disbelief. She could recall confessing to Chat Noir and him rejecting her. He had been arrogant enough to claim he was so awesome he would have married himself, if possible. She even remembered Adrien saying he was in love with another girl to her face; ironically, it was her. Marinette smiled and wrote on the paper. She slid it back to him and waited to see his reaction.
Then, how come you were too blind to realize you were the guy I was rejecting you for? I'm pretty sure I'm 'just a friend'.
Adrien looked at the note and turned red. He looked up at her in shock. Marinette just winked at him.
'Game on, Kitty.'
Seriously?
Yep
All this time?
Way before the rooftop with the petals. (That was beautiful by the way) It was always you.
Adrien put his face on the desk, in shame. Marinette could barely make out what she was hearing, but it sounded like a kitten trying to sound intimidating. She couldn't help but giggle. Adrien turned to her with a pout and giant kitten eyes.
"What?" Marinette asked out loud.
Adrien grabbed the paper, wrote, and slid it back.
Do you really want to date the model version of me?
Marinette rolled her eyes.
I never liked you for being a model. I like the you that was honest with me and your laugh. We can talk more at patrol.
She slid the note over. Adrien smiled as he read it. She could tell her answer meant a lot to him.
"We'll have to discuss rules." Ladybug stated, during patrol.
Chat Noir just whined.
"Ladybug and Chat Noir can't be seen in a relationship." she declared.
"Why not?" He questioned.
"Hawkmoth will come after us more then ever." Ladybug stated.
Chat sighed, "Fair, but if my father forces us to break up, then can Ladybug and Chat Noir date? There's no way I'm losing you just cause of some stupid fashion appearance he wants for me."
"Fine. No nicknames dealing with our hero selves in public." she continued, "Keep the flirting to a minimum."
Chat Noir simply pouted.
Ladybug smirked, "You can still visit, but we can't be distracted."
The weilder of Destruction leaned towards her, "Are you saying you find me distracting?"
Ladybug blushed and quickly looked away. She was still getting use to the idea of Adrien and Chat Noir being the same. Adrien flirting with her was too much at the moment. Chat looked towards his lady and found her cheeks were still pink. He couldn't help the smile that crossed his face.
'She's so cute and all mine.'
Chat Noir grabbed her hand and kissed it. By impulse, she pushed him away by his nose. He simply winked and left the tower, leaving Ladybug flustered.
"See you in an hour, Bugaboo!" he called out.
"Stop calling me that!" she shouted and quickly fled in the opposite direction.

Miraculous Spoiler Alert!!!!
I was out of Miraculous Fandom for a while and just now found out there is a new season!!
And I am a bit confused...
Lila has three moms??? Is she pulling an Esther from Orphan or what? Stepmother? Adopted and Bio ones? Poly Lesbians? Paid fake mom?
My 'chosen' theory is:
Adopted / Fake / long lost Bio mom
Her name isn't Lila? Its Cerise? Iris? She seen to have a life under this name so its now a new thing.
Iris looks like 'Bio Mom' so I guess thats her birth name. Not sure about Cerise Bianco.
I thought she was just a 'mean girl' like Chloe at the beginning
wuat the hell.
Its Esther isn't it? One mom is even deaf, I am scared for her, for all of them now.
Also, did she truly meet Felix? Some people said she did, but I can't find it. My god, its going to be a shit show if they did. Hawkmoth just staring at those tiny psychos like 'b*tch wtf, you are fourteen, the hell is wrong with you'
Edit: forget it, SHE IS THE NEW HAWKMOTH??? What happened to Gabriel??? Did he found out Adrien's identity?
My poor Noroo
Edit 2: I love Shadybug and Claw Noir
Edit 3: I am soooo confused with the whole plot right now, I need to watch Season 5 again

… This makes things complicated.
Uh… Lesbian poly relationship?
Jewelry mom divorces ambassador mom and marries deaf mom?
Someone gets plastic surgery because of insecurities?
One is a godmother?
See? This is why we make canon divergence fics! Canon is fucking confusing and can’t stick to what they made!
Will Kim and Max be smarter when dealing with Lie-la? If so, how will they be smarter when dealing with her?
Hmm… How to put this after writing dozens of stories of Lila salt?…
Lila won’t be the antagonist of this story
Lila’s layers are going to be pulled apart
Lila’s going to join a school club and make friends (Including Marinette so the two can cause chaos)
And… I’m making her aromantic and she’s got two moms because it’s canon, apparently

It's not love, it's obsession
And here we are with another salt fic request by A29Z10
Hope you all enjoy this one!!
Adrien had enough of Ladybug rejecting him all the time. He didn’t care if she was dating Robin from Gotham! They were soulmates! As a result, he decided that the best way to get Ladybug… was by making her jealous as he dates someone else… and who else that Marinette Dupain-Cheng! She was simply perfect and cute!
Plus, if they date, he could get her a job with his father! It was perfect! Well sure once he’s dating Ladybug, he will need to leave Marinette but she will understand in the end. After all she’s so sweet and is willing to do anything to help anyone in need so of course she would help him… especially considering he knows she has a crush on him so he’s pretty much making her live her dream.
But imagine his surprise when things don’t go as he hoped…
He goes to ask Marinette out only to be stopped by Damian Wayne who threatens Adrien “Stay away from my girlfriend Agreste or I will make you suffer” this shocks everyone… but Lila decides to lie “He’s clearly lying everyone! Marinette clearly hired and actor to claim to be Damian Wayne to get attention!” she claimed… but he quickly silences her as he presents evidence that he is in fact Damian Wayne “And while I’m at it Rossi… how about I destroy you?” and it’s at that moment that he reveals everything about her.
Her lies, her lives, her disguises… everything is revealed as Lila Rossi is arrested by police officers, he then presents to the entire class restraining orders to stay away from Mari… including to a shocked Adrien who looked at Mari for answers.
And her words shocked everyone…
“I never liked you, Adrien. It was all a lie I created to hide Damian from everyone so they don’t bother me for stuff that I can get through Damian and his connections” she explained. Sadly, Adrien didn’t believe her and went insane… he began to stalk her, take pictures of her in secret, sent her gifts with no return address and stole some of her stuff.
She tried getting the police involved but he always slipped passed them before they could get him, as a result Adrien was still around bothering her. One day, she was shocked to find that Plagg had mailed himself and his miraculous to Marinette, he went on about how he couldn’t take Adrien anymore and his behavior about her anymore and revealed that Gabriel and Nathalie are Hawkmoth and Mayura “Lila is even helping them” he explained.
As a result, Marinette got the Bat family and got her trusted allies with a miraculous to take down Gabriel and Nathalie and get them arrested for there crimes. Adrien realizing this decides to reveal he’s Cat Noir even without his miraculous which sadly doesn’t help with his reputation as many begin to hate him, to make matters worse someone going by the name Oraculó had posted footage of what Adrien has done that no one had seen as himself and as Cat Noir.
Later on, Emilie’s body was found and the public believed that Adrien had plans to kidnap Marinette and Ladybug to be with them. Chloe even reveals to the public something her mother kept quiet about “My mother has recorded Gabriel Agreste abusing his own wife in the past” this caused chaos in Paris and many believed that Adrien was like his father.
In the end… the class never got to achieve their dreams, Emilie sued Gabriel for everything he put her through and she sends Adrien to a psychiatric center to get him help. The class never visited him, his mom does though but it was every once in a while, that she can… and now? He’s banned from watching TV after he almost destroyed the one at the center after having a meltdown while watching Marinette getting married to Damian on TV.
He truly was insane…

Okay so I think it's time for another spaghetti theory:
Lilamoth isn't collecting moms. She's collecting sisters (or siblings)
Let me explain my thought process here. So a big complaint the fandom has is that we don't have a proper rogue gallery for villains. It's just the butterfly, and nothing else. It worked for early seasons, but things might be getting stale for some folks.
Enter new characters connected to Lilamoth somehow.
So she has 3 moms so far (that we know about.) All but one have something in common: dark hair and blue eyes.
From left to right we have Mrs. Rossi (red), Mrs. Bianca (white), and her third mother who is deaf could possibly be Mrs. Verdi (green).
Then we have this fourth lady that we see Lilamoth watching on her phone in the season 5 finale. I would NOT be surprised if Odille is going to be her 4th mom. Dark hair and blue eyes, and she is also disabled, just like her third mom.
(And I would not be surprised if we find out her surname is Nero (black), or Viola (violet). More on that aspect of this crack theory in a bit...)
Anyway, back to the concept of a rogues gallery. In the finale we see Lila in a disguise that 's VERY reminiscent of one of her moms:
Certainly she can't expect to disguise herself as a woman in her 30's-40's, and especially not with glasses and bangs. But she can pass reasonably as a teenage girl with a dark bob and glasses. You know, a sister.
So we know a certain main character whose name is in the title and wears red with black polkadots has dark hair and blue eyes. We don't know Lilamoth's motivations and and end goal, but we can surmise that she wants to take the place of Marinette.
(And I KNOW I've seen at least one other person theorize this, and I cannot find the post(s) so if you can find it please let me know so I can link it here!)
The pictures we see is one of Marinette with her classmates on the Liberty where Zoe is accepted in the friend group, Marinette with her parents, 3 pictures of Marinette with Kagami, and one picture of Marinette with Luka.
It's interesting to note that there isn't a picture of Marinette and Adrien together shown to the audience. You'd think they'd emphasize that, but no, it's mostly Kagami. I know it's because it's because the episode focuses on Kagami, but still. Other than her, it's just Marinette's parents, Zoe and Luka (Luka! Marinette's ex!) showcased in the closeup screenshot.
I got sidetracked! Anyway, I think other than similar coloring (and color-themed surnames haha) Lilamoth is trying to find other teenagers who are willing to join forces with her. She probably will get her hands on some Miraculous for them, somehow. But I don't think the new jewels will be from the Chinese box.
Here's where things start REALLY going off the rails with this theory:
All of Lilamoth's rogue gallery of villains are her adopted sisters (or siblings) and they are all Luka's exes. He's got a type for Italians with dark hair and blue eyes...
Going back to the surnames, all the surnames have something in common: they share the colors of all of Adrien's various transformations over the course of the series so far:
Rossi: Mister Bug
Bianca: Chat Blanc
Verdi: Aspik
We're just missing Chat Noir (could possibly will be the surname Nero, as it's Italian)
and Ephemeral (it's interesting to note that the surname Lee in Chinese can mean plum, which of course, is purple)
So naturally, my crack theory circles back to Lukadrien is endgame.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
{{{{{{Edit as of April 3, 2024.}}}}}
I will NOT be surprised if this girl with black hair in an extremely recognizable style is a disguise of another sister.
Is Lilamoth collecting blackmail to manipulate them later? She's very obviously walking disguised in areas where there would be lots of cameras (The inside of the Agreste mansion, and the hotel).
(Edit as of April 27, 2024!)
Now we know the synopsis of the London Special, I believe the disguises are to hide Lilamoth's tracks because she knows Maribug's identity. Bonus points if these girls were previous Ladybugs in past time lines that Lilamoth stole the identities of...
[[[Edit: May 4, 2024]]]
I think I found the names of the previous Ladybugs: Marina, Shone, and Mio. (Please enjoy a silly extremely rough draft of where I'd personally go with the show)
As for the rest of the spray paint on the walls, this mural is an actual feature of the Paris Catacombs:
And while I think that most of the other tags on the wall are functionally meaningless and just there for ambiance, I do find the 777-777 tag to be of note. 7 Ladybugs till Lilamoth's goal? What's the deal with the arrows and the floating away 3 7's? Are 3 already "gone"??? Fascinating stuff! My mind is reeling!
[Edit for May 6, 2024]
Possibly figured out the source of the lightning in the season 5 finale. For whatever reason it's not showing up in the tags lmfao tungle is a functional website
#not gonna be surprised if one of Luka's exes is that Adam guy from the noncanon comics that have access to early plot points#he was akumatized with time manipulation powers and was defeated with a hand mirror#naturally I gotta point out the obvious: Viperion and Second Chance and Kagami means mirror#there's no way one of Luka's at least 4 exes isn't a dude#Someone ask me about the band Luka's exes form in dedication to Ladybug and how that ties back to Luka being Bob Roth's newest rockstar#miraculous ladybug#lila rossi#cerise bianca#iris verdi#adrien agreste#marinette dupain cheng#cat noir#chat noir#luka couffaine#kagami tsurugi#miraculous ladybug theory#lukadrien#marigami#yeah marigami is endgame too#ml theory#miraculous ladybug season 6#ladybug season 6#miraculous world london#chronobug and the ghosts of the past

Why Scarlet Lady Is Better Than Canon: Lila Rossi
I had mentioned before at length regarding my distaste, dislike, and dissatisfaction with the character of Lila Rossi in Miraculous Ladybug canon. A character so horrible, so poorly written, and so two dimensional that I did not think it was possible to make any iteration of her I wouldn’t dislike.
And yet it seems @zoe-oneesama has come through for me yet again in Scarlet Lady by taking what was quite possibly one of my biggest issues and most despised characters within canon and with only a few changes, turning her into something enjoyable. Dare I even say…likable.
More than that, even. It says something when my least favorite character in Miraculous Ladybug canon can somehow become one of my top favorite characters in a different variation of it.
It’s because Zoe shows an understanding of the characters and what makes them engaging, and other than SL Adrien, it shows the most in the form of SL Lila.
See, Canon Lila Rossi is a selfish, manipulative, egotistical, petty, and self-centered liar.
Scarlet Lady Lila Rossi, on the other hand, is a selfish, manipulative, egotistical, petty, and self-centered liar.
Now I’m sure all of you are looking at those two sentences and noting that they’re the same thing. And you are right. That’s the point! Because the difference between the two versions isn’t who Lila is but rather in how the narrative and writing treat her and what Lila ends up doing because of it. And it’s why Scarlet Lady is superior in its handling of Lila.
Lila in Scarlet Lady is not a good person. Nor does she become a good person. She admits that she lies for fun and just to see how far she can take it. She’s fully on board with continuing her lies and trying to fool her mom and the school to get away with staying out of school for a year. This is all in lines with regular Canon Lila and shows that they are still the same person, it’s just the events and situation and narrative that differentiate them. It’s in how the Scarlet Lady story handles Lila and her character.
For the sake of convenience, I'm going to be using Scarlet Lady to refer to the comic itself and Scar to refer to Chloe's hero identity specifically.
Let’s review and compare Lila in Scarlet Lady to canon:
1. Lila in Scarlet Lady is NOT a plot device.
She doesn’t need to be. It’s clear that the plot is and has been moving forward on its own without her. Even if Lila were to have been removed from Scarlet Lady altogether, it’s pretty evident from everything else that’s been happening that we would still be getting to some plots and story points without too much difference or delay.
Scarlet Lady has a natural progression. The story and characters aren’t so rooted in the status quo that sudden additional character like Lila or Felix are necessary to throw in just to move things along. And Lila isn’t simply forgotten about when she’s not needed to do so. She doesn’t vanish without an explanation only to return also without explanation just to be able to force the plot to move.
Events within a story can be dependent on the characters, but the plot itself should not be dependent on what feels like a third party to show up and force things to happen when they should already be happening. That speaks of bad writing.
Canon Lila existed for the purpose of getting the Grimoire into Marinette’s hands so she could be the one to take it to Fu and learn about the Guardian and Miraculous secrets, as well as to be a future helper to Hawk Moth. Up until that point, the plot had done nothing with Fu and had done nothing to move things forward in learning about the Miraculous or why Hawk Moth would want the specific two. And after Volpina, the episodes that feature Lila are the ones that display more plot progression or involve Hawk Moth having layers to his plans. Lila only appears when she’s to be used to further a plot, then disappears until needed again.
In Scarlet Lady, by the time Lila appears, it’s already clear to Adrien, Plagg, and Fu that Scar is a horrible person and that she had no business being a hero. It’s also clear that Adrien is handling the hero work on his own and needs help. This is part of what causes Adrien to know that Lila is a liar and call her out on his own because in addition to Lila stealing his book, he already knows Scar well enough to know Lila’s story of Scar saving her would never happen. Lila isn’t the reason they find this out, nor is she the reason that the book is discovered and gets to the Guardian because Plagg chooses for himself to take Adrien to Fu. And afterwards, Lila’s appearances are more natural. Plot progression happens with and without her. Her appearances involve her interacting with her classmates like a person. They don’t have to have a plot-relevant purpose.
Narratively, there are three reasons to put in a scene.
Plot
Expansion/information/character focus
Entertainment
In canon, all of Lila's scenes are plot-focused and plot-driving.
In Scarlet Lady, they vary. Some are plot (like Lila's anti-Scar attitude getting more focus and validity over time). But more of Lila's scenes are focus in on her character and entertainment. This builds Lila as a person and makes her enjoyable to watch.
Lila is not a plot device as the plot doesn’t NEED her to progress. But that’s not to say that Lila doesn’t matter…
2. Lila has a role that nobody else in the story could cover.
As I’ve stated before, Canon Lila is pretty much another Chloe and there was nothing she was used for that Chloe couldn’t have or wouldn’t have been able to do. As a rival/foil to Marinette, as another love interest for Adrien, and even as a helper to Hawk Moth—by the time Lila started any of these roles, Chloe was already there and fully capable of filling them.
In Scarlet Lady, due to Scar being the hero Lila is butting heads with and being outted earlier on, SL Lila ends up not filling those same “roles”. She’s not a rival to Scar or Marinette, just a hater/critic of the former and a friend to the latter. She was called out by Adrien so she is shown to have no further interest in trying to pursue him. And as of yet, there has been nothing of Lila helping Hawk Moth.
Instead, Lila’s scenes show her engaging with the other classmates. More of the results of her being revealed as a liar. Her being a queen of sass and snark. And most importantly, her going head to head with Chloe and Scarlet Lady in verbal lashings that prove her silver tongue is no duller for people knowing of it.
In fact, she’s a part of people starting to realize that Scar is in fact horrible and her popularity starts to break down.
Yes, yes, we do have both Adrien and Marinette who realize how horrible Scarlet Lady is and hate her, but other than some snarky comments at her expense, they don’t do much about it. Mostly because they can’t. Especially early on, it’s clear that they’re forced to keep Scar around because as useless as she is otherwise, she is the only one who can purify the akuma and undo the damage. And as Fu has told them, Scar is still too popular with the city that trying to take the earrings from her would result in more problems. The two of them have to focus on dealing with the akumas more than trying to deal with Scar. Plus let’s be real: even as snarky as they both can get, they’re just too nice.
Others are also similarly of no help. Alya is still completely wrapped in Scar’s facade of a hero to see how selfish and unheroic she is. Most of the other classmates also go along with this narrative. But even the ones who DO know like Alix and Nino aren’t that active. They know but they don’t do anything with that knowledge.
Lila has no such barriers. She’s not a hero. She doesn’t know how “necessary” Scar is in akuma battles. And she doesn’t have to worry about not upsetting Scar since the “hero” already hates her. And thanks to Marinette and the other classmates with their “we still care about you for you” bit, she now has no reason to put up a mask…or a filter.
This makes Lila in prime position to try to push more against Scarlet Lady’s popularity and talk at length about how horrible she actually is. Something she is MORE than happy to do.
Lila is essentially the first main civilian hater of Scarlet Lady.
And with that in mind…
3. Lila’s actions are reasonable. Perhaps not intelligent, but they are reasonable.
She commits a number of the same acts as canon in Volpina. Stealing Adrien’s book, buying a necklace to be a fake Miraculous, trying to claim herself as the hero’s best friend for attention, and trying to claim she is a hero herself to get Adrien’s attention.
SL Lila is not a master manipulator or an up and coming villain. We are not expected to view her as a real threat to anything except Chloe’s ego.
Sure, she wants to speedrun the popularity and attention and maybe a nice rich blond boytoy to be her arm candy, but it’s clear in the very first comic she appears in that Lila has NO IDEA what sort of people she’s interacting with or telling lies about, and so has no way to prepare for what happens. First in that Adrien is so DONE with everything that he calls her out himself from the get go. Second in that Scarlet Lady appears to “save” Adrien from Lila’s lies when it was no longer necessary, proclaims aloud to the multitude of bystanders that Lila is a fraud, and then dumps her in a fountain for good measure and further insults her to boot. And at the end of it all, Scar doesn’t apologize for her actions, doubles down, and only further insults Lila. And as if all of that wasn’t bad enough, still being wet AND being on top of the Eiffel Tower results in her getting sick.
As such, Lila’s hatred of the Ladybug Hero in this version of events feels more understandable and based on a legitimate grievance. Several even. Scar’s actions go well beyond canon’s version. We clearly see how hurt and humiliated Lila is. Plus we have all of Scar’s previous antics to look back on and…well, we already came into this with more reason to hate Scarlet Lady than Lila, and Lila simply jumped on the bandwagon that was already there.
It also makes more sense then that Lila never even pretends to forgive Scar. Scar never apologized. She caused emotional and physical harm to Lila. And unlike Ladybug, Scar never tried to make an offer of friendship so Lila isn’t losing out on any opportunities out of spite. Heck, Scar’s treatment of Alya shows us that there is nothing to be gained from even pretending to be a fan of Scar. So Lila’s hatred of Scar is understandable and her refusal to be friends with Scar makes perfect sense.
When she hides away at her home, there’s a valid reason behind it due to her being sick. Her “plan” to fool her mom and the school in order to avoid going back also makes sense given the fallout she knows she would have to face if she did. (At least more sense than it made in canon for her to disappear for months just because Ladybug outted her to one guy who clearly seemed to be on her side more and neither of them did anything to inform anyone else of the truth.)
And when she returns to the school and the classmates, it isn’t out of nowhere. Once she was no longer sick, she was planning to continue some ruse. We clearly see how despondent Lila was over her situation and the feeling that she’s on her own and no one would side with her over Scar. This was deep. It shows real fears and feelings on Lila’s part. And it’s telling that it was the assurance from Marinette and support from her classmates that convinced her to rejoin the class. It doesn’t look like she would have had the willingness or perhaps the courage to do so if Marinette hadn’t reassured Lila that they had her back and had taken steps to try and help her, even when she wasn’t there and as of yet had done nothing to warrant it.
Here we see a Lila who is vulnerable and real. Who is clearly impacted by events on a deeper and more personal and meaningful level—or at least better than “GRR! Superhero revealed I was lying about her to a boy I like! I shall join the terrorist attacking the city and potentially destroy the WORLD for revenge!”
In this way, Lila is portrayed more like a normal girl. Since the narrative isn’t trying to play her off like she’s supposed to be some master manipulator the way canon does, Lila for all intents and purposes IS a normal teenage girl. A normal teenage girl who was humiliated and injured by someone with more power and social status than she can fight back against. She’s less of an archetype and more of a person with her own thoughts and feelings and ultimately choices which—even if we don’t like or agree with, we can at least see and understand.
Her actions are reasonable. Not just in that we as the audience can empathize with them but that they make sense. For Lila’s character, for her personality, and for someone in her position.
4. No plot armor.
SL Lila’s plans don’t just seamlessly work out. If anything, they go very wrong very quickly. Even before Scar calls her out, Adrien already made it clear that he knows she’s a liar. This effectively ruins her plan to try and get his interest and not just in the “Adrien being nice but not in to her” way. Furthermore, as she’s revealed as a liar in front of the entire class, we clearly see some of her classmates (Alya) continue to take issue with her later on. And even the ones who don’t have such issues are at least fully aware of Lila’s personality and don’t allow her to fool or manipulate them.
Sure, she still tries to manipulate her mom and the school to avoid having to go back, but that doesn’t last that long. And in Lila’s defense at that period of time, she was legitimately sick as a result of her dip in the fountain.
So it’s pretty clear that Lila lacks the plot armor that she had in canon. But it’s not just that Lila experiences losses, it’s also in the ways she succeeds. And unlike Canon Lila, SL Lila is not reliant on the plot to accomplish anything or make things work in her favor.
Some classmates still consider her friends. She’s still welcomed back—even with a bit more trepidation than before. She gets some epic zingers on Chloe and Scar. She got to have another interview with Alya just to be able to go on at length about how horrible Scar is. She manages to get on live TV just to heckle Scar. And over time, more and more people are seeing the problems with Scar.
Lila still gets some victories. Certainly not as many and not as big as what she gets in canon, but at least they don’t feel so forced. And they’re entertaining to see.
Which delves a bit more into an additional point I wanted to make…
5. There are consequences and responses to Lila and her lies.
With Canon Lila, everyone is in this weird sort of limbo where they automatically believe Lila JUST ENOUGH to not question her but at the same time NOT ENOUGH to actually follow through with some of her lies. In Chameleon, Lila claims to have and then magically be cured of Tinnitus and Bustier believes her just enough to rearrange the seats for her at her will but not enough to require some doctor’s note or confirmation of either the presence or recovery from the medical issue—even in the event the former could be overlooked, the latter could NOT and any school or teacher worth their salt would require SOME proof to discontinue an accommodation for someone with a disability because that would be a liability. In Ladybug, Lila claimed Marinette pushed her down stairs and the adults believed her just enough to admonish Marinette but not enough to get Lila actual medical attention, which is a liability and gross negligence. In Ono-chan, Nino believes Lila’s lies about needing Adrien to help tutor her just enough to give her an opening to go to his place but not enough to follow through, check up on her afterwards, or reasonably consider that maybe the supermodel with the super strict father might not be the best person to tutor her and he should ask for help from Max or Sabrina instead?
Each and every time, Lila is believed in the exact way she wants to the exact extent that would most benefit her with minimal effort on her part when it shouldn’t work that way. Even if we disregard how stupidly obvious many of her lies are, there is something wrong when they believe her enough to trust what she says over anyone else telling them otherwise but not enough to follow through on what that belief should then involve. They believe her when she says someone pushed her down the stairs but not enough to get her medical attention? Make sure she has no broken bones or internal bleeding? This has the issue of ruining the suspension of disbelief and making it look like the problem isn’t Lila being amazingly smart and evil so much as it is everyone around Lila being infuriatingly stupid and negligent.
Scarlet Lady nixes that problem in one episode by having Lila be revealed as a liar immediately, but furthermore follows up on it and the fallout of those lies. Nothing big or major or life-ruining—it’s middle school, after all. But the impact is still there.
Even episodes later, we see effects of Lila’s earlier lies. Chloe of course keeps referencing them in their encounters and yeah, it is reason for no one to really take Lila’s word against Scar’s—at least at first. Alya and Adrien both give her some pretty evil looking stares, showing that even five episodes later they both still very much remember what she did and do not approve of her getting free jewelry. Alya in particular stands out. She is shown to bear such a grudge against Lila for lying on her blog that she holds no sympathy for her being sick. And in the second intermission, she looks physically pained when she has to ask Lila for an interview on why she hates Scar. Something she had apparently sworn she would never do again after being fooled the first time. And something Lila looks completely overjoyed to do. There are people who are angry with Lila. They have every reason and every right to be. But it doesn’t have to mean the end of the world for her. It just means that there needs to be something.
The classmates don’t have to be made out to be stupid to make Lila work. They are canonically very kind and forgiving people. But canon makes them come off that way more because the lack of continuity seems to erase the lessons of previous episodes or somehow make them forget that certain people are horrible.
Zoe fixes this and a lot of problems in canon by having not just the classmates but EVERYONE in Paris remember and respond to things that have happened previously, even if just in little ways. Given how little room Zoe has to work with, this is HUGE. Simply adding comments here and there puts the scenes from canon in a new light and makes the classmates feel more fleshed out and like…dare I say it: PEOPLE.
The difference from Canon has a lot to do with how everyone else reacts to Lila, which makes these other characters and Lila appear more real and like fleshed out people rather than caricatures who only exist and move as the plot requires. They don’t have to bash Lila or try to light her on fire for it to be clear that Lila isn’t a good person and that there are consequences to her actions.
This is all leading up to the real possibility of…
6. Character arc?
It says something that contrary to most expectations, Lila is not what one would consider to be redeemed in Scarlet Lady. Lila is not a good person here just because she rejoins the class and becomes their friend and Zoe at no point tries to pretend that she is.
Marinette and other classmates made the choice to reach out and try to befriend Lila, but unlike most other arcs in other stories, this doesn’t result in Lila being redeemed. And she in no way got Lila to admit she was wrong and try to be a good person.
Lila is not necessarily forgiven or absolved of what she did. Nor is anything Lila did magically erased. All Marinette did and all she had to do was encourage Lila to not run away now that the truth was out. She helped convince her to return to the class with everyone fully knowing what she’s done and the type of person that she is and move forward with that. She informs Lila that despite her lies, there are people in the class who genuinely care about her and are worried about her.
Hell, it’s not even all up to Marinette. We see Alix sending messages to Lila encouraging her to join the class for Marinette’s birthday party. Sabrina fully admitted to inviting Lila to that party. Same with Rose, who has also been expressed to be worried about Lila. There are members of the class who are shown to care about her and who were noted to have made an effort to help Lila even after what had happened. Because they consider her a friend despite what she did, and that’s what friends do. All they asked was that Lila stop with the lies, stop with running away, and give people a chance.
And the result is the more mellow but passive aggressive Lila Rossi we see in Scarlet Lady. Not a Lila who is a good person or who is redeemed. This is a Lila who is at least honest with everyone about the sort of person that she is. She’s not pretending like she was in canon. She’s not being fake. She’s not putting on a mask of niceness anymore. This is a Lila who is fully acknowledged by everyone to have been a liar, to still be very selfish, and in some ways...a bad influence.
With a few episodes left, perhaps there is more we’ll see of Lila’s development and who she’ll become. Maybe we’ll get to see her take the steps to become better. To be a good friend, a good person, and maybe even a better hero than Scar. I don’t know for sure just yet what Zoe has planned for a character like Lila, but I do know what I see here:
A good start.

Lila Rossi, bane of my existence. In many way's she was the perfect opposite to Marinette. Both lie constantly, but while Marinette does it to protect her loved ones, Lila only does it for herself.
It did both me that most of her lies were completely unbelievable. So in this re-write were gonna make her the threat the show said she was. Lila heaps on the self pity. A poor diplomat's daughter who never met her dad, has to move constantly, and whose mother doesn't have time. All of this is false.
Her mother is no diplomat, her father works in Italy and she spends the summers with him. Her mom wants to spend time with Lila, but she pushes her away. She had only moved once in her life and it was to France 2 years ago. Instead relocating to their school after her former classmates discovered the truth.
Now let's talk design. Lila is still a model for the Gabriel company, and she actually works hard at it. I tried to make her look fashionable. And as a bonus, a design where she's dressed for modeling like I did for Adrien.
Volpina is pretty solid design-wise but I thought I'd spice her up a little bit. Adding the black stripes on her shoulders and simplifying the pattern on her tail piece.
Hoaxer is the same but with a coat reminiscent of a kitsune's tails. And a glowing mask to link her to her 'followers.'
Finally it bothered me that Chameleon didn't have any sort of design change. I understand why, but I thought some scales on her face and hands would be interesting to animate.

In Offense to Lila Rossi
O...kay! Am I the only one who sometimes takes offense to Lila's entire existence? Even if she just stands there, looking at her on screen makes me want to grab the nearest pitchfork! So please, allow me to explain why I despise Lila Rossi in Miraculous Canon, and what my delusions say should happen for Season 6 regarding her character! Call it a stich, I'm still doing it because I can!
To kick things off, it's worth establishing what kind of antagonist Lila is supposed to be in the show. She's introduced in the finale of Season 1, Volpina (yes I know some lists have Origins last, but Collector picks up directly after so it's the finale), and from the moment anybody even mentions her, we get the hint that something is fishy. I'm quite sure it's Alya who first approaches Marinette and tells her about this "new girl" who's showed up at school. Apparently, "she" knows famous musicians, is very talented, etcetera. Marinette raises an eyebrow at this, but there's no real reason to question it yet since the audience has already seen that some of those things are true for her as well (see Jagged Stone). All in all, good little bit of foreshadowing and getting people intersted without going overboard.
Then we actually meet Lila in the library with Adrien. She seems pleasant enough, if a little infatuated, but this is Adrien. He has more fangirls that there are ticks on a goat, so he takes it in stride. All in all, Lila is cheery and excitable, happy to spend time with him. Not the most likable character in history, but also not malicious in any way. This is the expected behavior for some random teenager learning she's classmates with a supermodel. And since we get this whole thing from Marinette's point of view, the audience is encouraged to share her suspicions about Lila. We all know how the rest of the episode goes, and I'll get back to this in a sec.
Point is, when Lila first shows up, she seems interesting. Her lies aren't immediately obvious (or at least like 20% plausible given past events), and she appears to be infatuated with Adrien, just like Marinette. Sure, it looks a bit superficial, but who can blame her? We don't know anything about her yet, and it isn't completely outrageous to think that she might be giving out small lies to make herself more popular since she's the "new kid" and all that.
But after Volpina...we don't see her again until Season 3! Excepting Heroes Day Part 2, where she gets re-akumatized into Volpina for the whole illusion thing, I mean. Lila remains a mystery, and so far has been a nuanced character who we have questions about and know to be a cunning liar. Especially since in Volpina, Lila actually is being smart with her lies to Adrien! She plays up her persona of infatuated fangirl and extracts general information about the book he has, and plays off it by giving minimal details and still attracting his interest. It's only once Adrien has shown her the page about the fox heroine that Lila makes up a story about having the Miraculous in her family, and then she immediately goes off to cover her back by buying a fake Fox Miraculous from a "Gabriel" store.
Side note: This is the one and only time we see this happen, and I still have questions as to why Gabriel Agreste is selling jewerly that only someone with the Guardian's Grimoire would know how to design. Dead giveaway, but that's a general plothole in the show, and irrelevant to Lila.
The thing is, I love Lila in Volpina! She actually does manipulate Adrien pretty well, makes sure to subtly get all the information she needs, and then plays her part perfectly, to the point where he's on her side when Ladybug swings by to berate her for lying about having a Miraculous. Granted, Marinette's intense reaction doesn't do her any favors, but nonetheless Lila is actually good at lying in this episode! Now prepare to throw this out the window with Chameleon! Oh, Chameleon! What is even left to say about this episode that the fandom didn't tear to shreds back when it first aired? Welp, doesn't matter! I'm grabbing Hawkmoth's cane and beating the dead horse one last time, just because Lila pissed me off this badly when I re-watched it recently!
I have genuinely researched the lies that Lila spouts out in this episode, and I'm honestly baffled as to why the writing team even put them there? I'd think it takes more effort to think of something this ridiculous rather than a semi-believable lie? Let's break the two most ridiculous ones down real quick. Getting tinitus from being behind a plane engine while it was taking off. Now, I'm assuming Lila also lost a few braincells in this episode, because while while yes, if that were to happen one would have severe hearing damage...we're talking about going completely deaf. Not to mention that you'd have to ignore countless airport security measures to even get there, and that in some countries, it's very much illegal to be on the runway when a plane is taking off. So Lila would have gone completely deaf, forever, not to mention sustained actual injury from being right behind a plane as it's taking off. Do you see why this is so ridiculously unbelievable? And okay, for the sake of argument let's say that people do believe her. Miss Bustier has zero reaction to this information, which would have presumably caused a responsible adult to panic at the idea of a child sustaining such an injury. Clearly, this episode is designed to devour braincells from everyone present.
Then we move onto the moment that still infuriates me, the Napkin Incident™. I'm not going to go into too much detail because we all know the gist. Lila catches a napkin thrown by Marinette with her supposedly "sprained" wrist, and explains the reason she "hurt herself" was to protect Max's eyes from being gouged out! By a napkin, while he's wearing glasses! In addition, Lila blatantly lies about being best friends with Ladybug and having sustained other minor injuries, and all of this makes me honestly upset because I see what they were going for! I can see the vision here!
Lila lying about being best friends with Ladybug to gain Alya's interest! Lila making herself the victim and exploiting Marinette's eagerness to expose her to gather support from her classmates and take away her friends! She even says that's what she plans to do at the end of the episode! But...this never goes anywhere. Lila is almost entirely absent from the remainder of the season, and just...doesn't follow up on this? Instead all we get is Lila getting outrageous lies that require every other character in the room to lose the entirety of their IQ to even be plausible in the slightest. And the plot wants to pretend as if she's a master manipulator when all she does is tell extremely obvious lies that can be very easily disproven!
Even when she pretends Marinette pushed her down the stairs, nobody reacts in the way they should! Bustier and Damocles should have called in the school nurse, or a doctor to check her over, especially since Lila claimed to be in severe pain. It's completely unreasonable for adults to behave they way these two do whenever Lila is involved in anything. My point is that for Lila to be what the show says she is, she needs plot armor. People believe her just because they have to. It's demanded by the script. And it's infuriating!
It would be another thing entirely if Lila slowly approached each and every classmate and systematically inserted herself in situations as the "friend", or used small lies to slowly degrade Marinette's connections with others. She could ensnare Alya with little lies about Ladybug, and then act concerned and worried when Marinette denied everything without any proof (like we already see her do multiple times). And yes, obviously they can't devote another dozen episodes to focus solely on this, but the fact that we never see Lila even try to do it very much undermines her character. The narrative presents her as a master manipulator who pulls the strings from the shadows, and addmittedly she has some good moments like when she frames Marinette for stealing her necklace...but that can easily be disproven by checking security cameras, or by Adrien speaking up. Remember, he was there in Volpina when the necklace was proved a fake, and Lila is using the same lie here.
Not to mention that in each and every case where Lila lies, even in Season 5, the believability of that lie is solely dependant on the sheer incompetence of every (allegedly) responsible adult around her, and the fact that Marinette's classmates are contractually obligated by the script to believe her without a second thought. The problem here is that Lila isn't good at lying. What she says is either outrageous enough to warrant genuine concern if believed (ex: Marinette pushing her down the stairs. No adult would have made this girl walk back up that staircase without first asking if she was hurt and calling in a medical professional) or so plain stupid that it has everyone wondering where their lost braincells may have slipped off to. To give credit where it's due, Lila's manipulation of Chloe in Season 5 is actually pretty great and consistent with what we've been told she's supposed to be.
But...considering that by this point, (regarding Marinette's friends now) Alya knows her best friend is Ladybug, hates Lila, and was clearly right about the girl being a walking red flag...why does it take a DIY bathroom and a literal 300 IQ scheme to prove that Lila has been lying about things? Like, Alya, Adrien and presumably Nino (if anybody bothered to clue him in) should know that she's full of crap, and suspect her. Don't get me wrong, I love Marinette's whole fake bathroom plan. Genuinely made me marvel at how smart she is. But it also shows that the script still treats Lila as an Avengers-level threat...even if at this point in the story, her lies are just bad. We know from Chameleon she can't even keep her own stories straight (see Lila forgetting which ear her tinnitus was on), and this could have been an amazing detail the gang utilized to start convincing the others that she is lying.
The general problem with Lila's canon character is that she's underutilized, barely appears outside of when she absolutely needs to, and fundementally fails to be what she's been writen as, requiring her Villain Plot Armor™ to kick in and steal everyone's braincells away. I absolutely love the whole "Lila is a fox" characterization, because Volpina was literal genius! The metaphors and symbolism of Lila being cunning and always scheming? Amazing! But...what we actually get to see of her in action? Really, really bad. Also, I am not touching her three mothers with a ten foot pole, not until we get a canon explanation. Personally I ascribe to the Scarlet Lady AU version, but we'll see. Even the more obviously ridiculous things, like Lila having a whole secret lair in the Parisian Catacombs...I'd buy it. If there's IRL raves happening down there, then she could totally have a secret villain lair tucked away behind a few crypts or something.
What I wish we had gotten from Lila is honestly not a lot. Instead of just walking up to people and lying her ass off, I'd prefer to see her be more subtle about it. For Nooroo's sake, just get this girl to actually be cunning like all the fox metaphors want you to think! It isn't that hard to write a scene where she plays the "concerned friend" as Cerise to plant seeds of discord. Buggachat did it very well in "Open my Eyes", and it made me absolutely hate Cerise! And that's a good thing! Lila/Cerise/Iris/Whatever-other-identity-she-has-in-her-closet is meant to be hated by the audience! She literally is a "love to hate" character! And in Open My Eyes, Cerise actually did act as the concerned friend, she was subtle, she didn't always lie but sometimes twisted the truth just a little bit, enough to get the doubts to creep inside someone's head. I got so frustrated because I wanted Adrien to figure her out, but couldn't find a logical way for him to do so in the first place! Do you guys get what I'm talking about yet?
Subtle but convincing. Small and unnoticable until it's too late. That's how Lila should be, because it utilizes the most plot threads made by her lies. I can go on and on with specific examples, but I want to actually post this someday so I shall refrain. In conclusion, there are only two types of Lila. "I'm going to burn your house down and smile while doing it, then find a puppy and kick it into a sewer before emotionally scarring someone to the point of needing life-long therapy" Lila.
And the "cunning, sneaky and subtly manipulative fox who drives people insane slowly but surely as she makes them have an existential crisis" Lila.
I vehemently refuse to accept her canon version, and fear for Season 6 if she doesn't change into one of the above, or at the very least stops being so incredibly in-your-face about it. It's infuriating (in a good way) when the characters don't know, but if the lie is as obvious as "How was my weekend? Oh, nothing much! I just went skydiving on Venus, that's all really!" ...do I even need to elaborate? Because that's what Lila sounds like 96% of the time!
Alas, I digress. Feel free to give your opinion about our resident lying wretch, I need to go take a break before her incompetence drives me insane. I'll see you all soon...but until then, Stay Miraculous everyone!
#miraculous ladybug#lila rossi#character analysis#rant post#listen i have a vision#and it's of a lila that doesn't suck#no offense to other lila fans#but there's a reason we all have a billion headcanons#instead of you know#watching the actual show#mostly because she's barely in it#ramblings#still not touching the issue of her 3 moms with a ten foot pole#even chat's extendable staff#i'm not kidding#i want to see what the writers come up with#because let's be honest#the whole mystery is an attempt to make her interesting again#and i'm here for it#but still#until they write themselves out of this corner#i sure as hell ain't trying to help#anyway yeah#i'll see myself out#have a good day

I have made drafts of Cerise... and Lila ?!
I've imagined a story about the existence of TWO(2) Lilas in the Miraculous universe.
I feel it's even a theory (more than an AU): What if there were in fact two Lilas ?!
I thought about that since a lot of months (approximatively since beginning 2023).
For this AU concept, there are two Lilas:
Lila Marina Rossi (the original girl)
"Cerise Bianca"/"Lila Rossi"/"Iris Verdi"/Chrysalis (the impostor)
And they look like identical each other.
The situation:
Lila confronts Cerise her identity usurper. In this AU, after Lila and her mom (already promoted ambassador) arrived to Paris, Cerise manipulated 'seduced' Lila in the first day. One day, Cerise betrays Lila by falsely sending her to the asylum.
In this AU, Cerise previously escaped from the asylum and she needed to trick the authorities.
We have got the "Lila Rossi" we actually know in the show (Volpina, Chameleon, trying to seducing Adrien, plotting revente against Marinette/Ladybug, using Chloé as a pawn for her own agenda, manipulating each adult woman/mother by pretending to be their daughter, working with Gabriel/Hawkmoth/Monarch and stealing the Butterfly miraculous to the latter).
One year later, the real Lila escapes from the asylum and tracks down her "other self": the fake Lila/Cerise/the girl who trapped her and stole her identity.
Meanwhile and of course, she doesn't suspect her nemesis has already a Miraculous for the evil. She risks to confront Chrysalis (Future Hawkmoth(?)).
Bonus:
-The real Lila (in patient uniform) confronts the fake Lila/ Cerise. That's since one year she seeks revenge, justice and truth. She just wants to retrieve back her normal life.
-an angry Lila is going to ambush Cerise: the latter (the superliar, the super impostor) had recently received her new wig (just another copy of her initial wig) and was becoming "Lila Rossi" again.
-Lila becomes mad to see "she is herself" the Alliance Ring avatar and the Gabriel fashion brand model.

I have a request. How about Lila’s mom comes to school because Lila forgot something. And she comes to class only to see them screaming at marinette to stop being “jealous” and stop “bullying” because of another lie Lila told. Lila’s mom also sees mrs. Bustier not doing anything to stop it. So she steps in and Lila pales at the sight of her mom. Then she sets things straight and goes off on Lila for lying again. In the end Lila and the class get punished. And lila gets held back a year.
Mrs. Rossi was already in an annoyed mood. She had already been running late this morning, and needed to get to work. But right as she went to leave, she saw that Lila had left her homework binder on the counter.
She was irritated with her daughter for being so irresponsible. Part of her considered just leaving it there and letting Lila face the consequences. She left it, she can take the bad grade. But then Mrs Rossi remembered that this assignment was worth a lot and if Lila got a bad grade, it would really affect her overall grade.
Mrs Rossi decided to just take it to the school, and she would deal with her daughter later. Little did Mrs Rossi know, Lila would wish her mother had left it alone. She had left the binder on purpose. Lila had planned to blame Marinette for the missing assignment, saying that the girl had wanted Lila to fail so she stole the assignment from her on the way to school.
Mrs Rossi strode into the school and up the stairs to her daughters class, texting on her phone to try and explain to her boss why she is late. Her focus was glued to her phone, that is until she heard the yelling. When she looked up, Mrs Rossi saw the entirety of her daughter’s class, standing and yelling at one girl in the back of the class. They were yelling at her for “bullying Lila” and “stealing her homework” so this girl would have a better than Lila.
But none of this made sense. Lila’s homework wasn’t stolen, Mrs Rossi had it in her hand. Why did the class think this girl stole it? And why wasn’t her daughter correcting them? Surely she knew about her homework, so this girl couldn’t have stolen it. Mrs Rossi felt her stomach twist. She had seen her daughter finally, and she was smiling maliciously.
Then Mrs Rossi understood. Her daughter was lying again. She had done this at every school in Italy. She always lied to everyone, about everything. Fake conditions, fake achievements, anything she could think of. And she had also previously used those lies to target specific students and make them miserable. She had been expelled from several schools for this behavior, but Lila had seemed better since moving to Paris. Reticently, Mrs Rossi realized that Lila had seemed better, because Mrs Rossi had been willfully ignoring it. Now the lack of the communication from the school, and several “school closures” seemed way more troubling.
She glanced at the teacher, Bustier, but Bustier wasn’t doing anything. She was just watching the chaos, like it was some twisted show. Mrs Rossi couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Well, if she wasn’t going to stop this, Mrs Rossi absolutely would. Her daughter wasn’t going to ruin another girl’s life.
Mrs Rossi stormed into the classroom, yelling, “LILA ROSSI”. The entire class whipped around at the sudden intrusion and stared at her. Most looked confused, but Lila didn’t. She looked terrified, and paled almost instantly upon seeing her mother.
“Mom… what are you doing here?” Lila glanced around the room, completely panicked. Especially when she spotted a certain binder in her mother’s arms.
“It doesn’t matter why I’m here. What matters is you are lying again! You told your class that this girl stole your homework? You know good and well that you left it at the house. It’s right here! I thought you had gotten over this lying phase of yours, but clearly not!” Mrs Rossi threw down the binder on the sad excuse of a teacher’s desk, angry beyond measure.
Lila was stuttering, trying to think of someway out of this, as she felt the stares of her class on her. This was very bad, Lila had intended for this lie to fully turn the class against Marinette. She hadn’t expected her mother to see the binder and bring it to the school. “Mom it’s not what you think, Marinette, she… she threatened me. Told me not to bring my homework or I’d be sorr-”
Lila couldn’t even finish her lie, her mother’s anger growing with every word until she exploded. “ENOUGH! You did this in every school you went to in Italy, and I thought I got the lesson through your head this time! Clearly not! I didn’t warn this school because you seemed to understand it this time, I guess that was my own naivety. Get up, you are coming with me to the principals office! I’m willing to bet he has some interesting stories to tell me of what you’ve been up to! I wonder if you have that lying disease again, or the one about saving some random celebrity pet. It’s the same nonsense every time and I’m sick of it!”
Lila tried to stammer out protests, she really did not want her mom to talk to Damocles. But deep down, she knew it was pointless, her mom was furious and wouldn’t take no for an answer. She felt the betrayed looks from the class on her back, as they realized Marinette had been telling the truth. Lila was a habitual liar, and her own mother was confirming it right in front of them, even referencing specific stories Lila had told them.
Lila reluctantly left the classroom with her mother, dreading this conversation and the after effects to come.
And man the after effects were more brutal than Lila expected. She wasn’t expelled exactly, but she almost wishes she was. But her mother had advocated against expulsion, but not for the sake of her daughter. She did it so her daughter couldn’t pull this again at another school.
Instead, Lila was suspended for the rest of the year and as a result would be held back a year and need to repeat it. When she was allowed back, she would be closely monitored by teachers, to make sure she couldn’t get away with anything or trying to bully any students. And a note was placed in her permanent record, so that if she ever did have to transfer for some reason, her next school would be warned.
As for the rest of the class and Bustier, they didn’t escape unscathed either. Most of the class was suspended as well, just for shorter periods of time. The school was a bit more lenient with them, since their actions were based on manipulation and lies, so they wouldn’t be suspended long enough that they would need to repeat the year, but they would be suspended for a few weeks and when they got back, they would have detention for the remainder of the year.
Finally, Bustier was also given an unpaid suspension. To come back to work, she had to complete several hours of retraining on class management, anti bullying tactics, and a wide range of other subjects. Her class got a long term sub in the meantime.
Mrs Rossi may have been annoyed about bringing that binder, but she is glad she did. It opened her eyes to her daughters continuing lies. She was able to put a stop to it this time, and she would make sure her daughter would never be able to pull this nonsense again.

Lila Rossi everyone!
This post is about her character, rather than her and Felix’s role in the story. I decided to cut the whole mom thing from canon, because I couldn’t deal with it. So in this au, she’s an orphan being raised by her older brother who’s around 21.
She starts being a manipulative little bitch. Her original outfit style was copying Marinette’s style out of insecurity. But after a while and finding out about Chloe, she becomes a better person and goes back to her own style. She never becomes 100% good. More so a little gremlin. she’s still really good at manipulating and making people think she’s different that she actually does. But with the class she’s open about who she actually is. And they’re friends with her. She and Felix end up dating, but it’s kept mostly secret because Felix and Kagami start fake dating so Chloe doesn’t get exposed. She becomes best friends with Alix because they have some similarities but also differences. They both are more into more punk fashion. Lila has lots of punk fashion in her wardrobe, and she wears it regularly. She really just likes wearing spiky things. Big spiky books, spiky headbands.
She’s the kid who saw far too many horror movies and games when she was too young and has become desensitised to it. You know unrestricted internet access, and stumbling across creepypastas that scared her when she was eight. But now she laughs. Alix shows Lila all her racing games and Lila shows Alix all her horror stuff. She also loves Dead Rising. She’s played far too much of it for her own good. She’s gotten all the trophies on Xbox 360. she’s played them all to death. She has dead rising 1, dead rising 2, and dead rising, off the record. (Dead rising 3 and 4 don’t happen in this au)
So when the dead rising zombie akuma happens, Lila is overjoyed she can finally put those zombie killing skills to good use. Her and Alix consider themselves trained professionals in getting rid of zombies. (Playing zombie games do not count as professional training in the slightest)
