The song American Pie is such a fascinating phenomenon to me like.
I was born in 1988 and had no cultural like knowledge or feelings about Buddy Holly or The Big Bopper or anything obviously because they had not been... Alive when I was alive! I did not experiencewhat it was like to live through the plane crash they died in in real time! I have no experiential reference for that at all! And I also had no knowledge of what American Pie was ABOUT before my dad explained it to me when I was about 10. And even then it's like... okay, so these musicians died in a plane crash. That's sad. But like. There is no way to read the wiki article about this event and feel the way that this song feels about it! There just isn't
But American Pie is just it's such a masterfully crafted song musically and in terms of sheer EMOTION and the way all the metaphors somehow come together to make you be like "SO true Don Mclean" even though you have no idea what the jester stealing the kings thornéd crown Represents at all
Like I used to hear that song on the radio and BAWL. I don't know anyone who doesn't sing along passionately when it comes on the radio. Somehow the sheer feeling that he manages to put into the song itself just FORCEFULLY POSSESSES YOU even though you do not really care or may not even KNOW what the fuck event he is singing about! Like it's A CLASSIC and younger ppl with absolutely noooooo like, touchstone to what it Means are and will continue to be obsessed with it because it somehow just. (Gestures)
I feel really emotional about this when I think about it because I am not a musician but I am a storyteller and an artist and I feel like this is such THE goal of creating art to communicate some deep wrenching feeling about an experience you have had that somehow is so skilled at hacking into the feelings core of almost every human who consumes it in spite of them not relating to that experience AT ALL
I just think that's a really magical thing about the way humans can communicate through art you know? Makes me feel SUCH FEELINGS

Venture Bros.: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart commentary and extras.
This is what I gathered during my first watch. Hopefully, I'll be able to upload the audio bits like I did for seasons 1-7 eventually! I'll catch all the little details then 💛
Let me get this out of the way. They did not answer the most important question of all.
Tumblr media
In the past, Doc and Jackson have said that what they say in the commentary isn't necessarily canon. What is canon is what's in the actual show, not what they explore outside of the show because they're always changing their minds. Sometimes they disagreed while answering questions. Take that as you'd like.
Jonas didn’t abandon The Monarch after the plane crash intentionally. He assumed he died or he ran away before he got there. They hinted that Jonas downed the plane himself.
When asked if Jonas loved Rusty they say he’s a bad person, the villain of the show, and a monster. Jackson thinks he might have been a boy adventurer himself. They compare him to baby boomers forcing their children to live the lives they wanted themselves.
Does Rusty have the other twin killed when only one dies? Jackson says only when they witness the death. He referenced Ice Station Impossible. Brock has done it before.
Ritchie Valens refused to join The Guild and Red Mantle and Dragoon’s (Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper) initiation was to kill him so he wouldn’t tattle.
Doc says the second sons are the ones who succeed in The Guild, not the first sons, because they’re most likely to become evil and that’s why Dean was chosen as The Guild’s successor.
Doc described two episodes he would like to do: 1. "Heads in the water." Which is the heads of characters bobbing in the water after a crash for the entire episode. An all dialog bottle episode. 2. An episode that starts off like a regular Venture Bros episode. Then a henchman dies and everything pivots. 21 calls his wife and says “Real sorry but your husband died in service” (Doc put on his 21 voice here). We then see the wife and daughter (from another marriage) and follow them in their lives.
What is The Monarch's favorite ABBA song? Doc thinks Waterloo and Jackson thinks Take a Chance. They riff as Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend for a few seconds.
Gary's a big Sneaker Pimps fan.
Rusty doesn't have a middle name. If you ask Rusty he'll say the S stands for sexy or science or SUPER science. Rusty’s favorite musical is Starlight Express or RENT (Jackson disagreed). He's never actually watched them but he likes the advertisements.
Brock Frog is the guy that "brings in bagels". A 3rd generation Italian American from "bricklayer stock." He fell out with his dad because he wanted to bring bricks into the future. He teamed up with Professor Vigo Dale, who screwed him out of half of the company after Brick Frog gave him all of his brick ideas.
Mantilla has the ability to make things invisible by touching them but claimed it was teleportation. “It’s all bullshit…and she had money from her past”
Mantilla has been "garbage picking" from The Monarch’s trash, such as Dr. Mrs.'s costume ideas in season 3 that she had thrown away and their wedding invitation.
The guys in the warehouse with Jefferson were all roommates in the 90s.
We would have had a full episode of Force Majeure and Jonas Venture's rivalry.
We would have had another episode of Billy and Colonel Gentleman "John Wicking" after Mischa was found dead right before a doggy costume contest.
Matt Berry was supposed to voice Force Majeure.
Why does The Monarch hate Doc so much? Jackson says “Obviously it (the thought that Debra left him for Rusty) bothers him a little more than he said.”
They called Gary's hair “the popular millennial cut” and made him "half Glen Danzig half Wolverine."
Doc has drunk his own urine multiple times because they pee in bottles in the Astrobase. "Recently".
During the last scene in the movie when everyone is talking, Gary and Hatred were talking about a loofah. Hatred asked Gary "Ah...you use a loofah?". Dr. O was talking about intermittent fasting.
24 made a guest appearance in the "Fan Questions" extra for a few seconds.
They refused to answer the questions about Scare Bear and what Rusty and Billy were doing in the time machine in case they're able to continue the story.
They made a joke about telling people just enough in the commentary to get them excited and want more. (A “joke” haha)
During Prom, Pete and Billy would have studied the Push It video extensively. Pete would’ve entered the dance floor and “boxed it out” to make space. Billy would’ve walked in the circle nonchalantly. Then they would have recreated the entire dance.

Coming Up/Starting Over
Thinking about the dialogue between Paul and John in McCartney II and Double Fantasy: 'Coming Up' is a song addressed to a friend who wants "a love to last forever" (a reference to Don't Let Me Down) as well as "peace and understanding" (Give Peace a Chance, etc.), in which the speaker is offering reassurance: I am that friend, I want to help, hang in there and things will get better. "Never fade away" could be construed as a Buddy Holly reference (to "Not Fade Away"), and while 'searching' is a common verb, it's also the name of the song Paul always refers to when talking about the Cavern days. There might be other references I'm missing, but it's very much a song about music, which is underlined by the video, in which Paul plays different musicians (including himself as a Beatle), as well as by the extra lyrics in the live version ("I know if we could get together, we'd make music endlessly"), and the fact that Paul talks about 'coming up' as a radio reference ("coming up on the hour" - also in the live version).
Put that together, and I think it's both a friendly message to John - hi, I'm still your friend - and an invitation to make music together again. If you see it as a more romantic relationship, then obviously there could be other subtext there, but the basic idea is the same either way. (Invoking "Don't Let Me Down" to say "actually, ours is the love that lasts forever" ten years later can be seen as both bitchy and wildly romantic in a way I find kind of charming.)
This isn't a new idea, but it's interesting to think about John's songs as a response to that. First, there's "I Don't Wanna Face It", which the Beatles Bible says he started in 1977, but which clearly had a pretty overt musical reference to Coming Up incorporated into it when he reworked it in the summer of 1980. It was apparently the first song he recorded for Double Fantasy, and no matter which way you read it, if Coming Up is a question, I Don't Wanna Face it answers it with either "no" or "no, and fuck you".
But that isn't actually where the conversation ends, because John decided not to put that song on the album. Instead, one of the last songs he wrote for Double Fantasy was "(Just Like) Starting Over". I don't discount the idea that the song reflects his feelings for Yoko, or that he wrote it to better fit the narrative of the album, but I'm always a fan of the idea that a song or a work of art can say more than one thing at a time. I do not think that John, in the late 70s or 1980, would accidentally reference Paul's band and two of his singles in his lyrics without realizing it ("it's time to spread our wings and fly, don't let another day go by, my love"). Also, just as Coming Up is a meta song, so is Starting Over: I see your Buddy Holly, and I raise you an Elvis. And where I Don't Wanna Face It is a 'no', Starting Over feels like a 'yes' - the whole song is him asserting that he doesn't want to give up on a relationship. And maybe the yes has nothing to do with romantic love and everything to do with music - that would certainly make sense, both in relation to the songs themselves and to where John and Paul were musically and personally (both making albums that were, on some level, about recapturing their love of music, and allegedly considering working together on Ringo's album). Or maybe they were having wild sex in motels all over Long Island, idk. But the existence of the dialogue itself interests me, and it's nice to think of it ending on a positive note given what came next.

marauders in 2024 taste in music except it’s MY taste in music
James: he’s big on Tyler, the creator, fucks w harry styles and some of taylor swift (he started listening to them cus he heard lily likes them, turns out it’s his thing too). proud ed sheeran enjoyer, also listens bands like the kooks and the strokes, wallows and just general vibey music. casual listener of everything, not really into stan culture
Remus: idc what u say bro is into presplit panic! at the disco, like worshipped ryan ross when he was 13 kind of guy. the front bottoms, fucks w idkhow, had a painfully pretentious ‘born in the wrong generation’ phase where he was obvs really big on bowie, the stones, the smiths, the cure etc.
Sirius: Got into the 2015 emo trinity because of remus’s ryan ross obsession. LOVED pierce the veil as an angsty teen, massively into fob (especially pre-hiatus) and had a crush on Pete Wentz growing up. Definitely had a Gerard Way fan account when he was 15. (i’m projecting). never truly left his emo phase, just stopped being pretentious about it and also began listening to pop music.
Peter: actually enjoys p!atd up to pray for the wicked (again, thanks to remus forcing them on everyone back in secundary school). probably a casual listener of a bunch of stuff, though he’s a big weezer fan and really enjoys niall horan. WILL crank up brainrot music (like the hamsterdance or fnaf songs or minecraft parodies and he knows every single word)
Marlene: everyone’s favourite cool girl, loves riot grrrl music!!! CHAPPEL ROAN!!!!!! OBVIOUSLY a paramore stannie. shakes ass to Gaga and Troye Sivan, probably went to see Weezer live with Peter and started a moshpit during Buddy Holly.
Mary: she’s beyhive for sure, as in, has extensive knowledge on everything beyoncé. Got into Taylor Swift because of Lily. Those two def had a 1D phase together. Likes Pink Pantheress and some Halsey, got into chappel roan bcs of Marlene. She likes most of the main pop girls (ariana, dula peep, olivia…) she’s an overall fun person, so her music taste reflects that.
Lily: HEAVY on Taylor swift and harry styles. as before mentioned, she had a 1D phase along with Mary (she was a Niall girl). Had the inevitable not like other girls phase when she got into Lorde, the 1975, arctic monkeys and halsey (it’s a canon event we can’t intervene). Got over her internalised misogyny and became a swiftie, amen🙏🏻
(gonna do the slytherins in a separate post 😋)

so i have this stray cat that lives in my garage and she’ll bring back birds for us as a little gift and i feel like this is something red would do. obviously not birds but if she’ll see something while outside the walls that she knows tommy or the baby would like/need she’ll grab it for them. I dont think she would ever hand it to him in person tho, she would just leave it at his doorstep. lol the idea of tommy coming home and just finding random things on his porch without knowing whos leaving them is hilarious to me.
Absolutely cackling at this because yes, I've already mentioned she does this already but Joel and Ellie are use to it because of course it's Red leaving them things. But Tommy does not know that lol Red likes to leave things for people that she thinks they'll like. Hardly ever is it for her, though when she does she hides it in the downstairs room as if it's inconvenient for it to be with everyone else's stuff. But she'll find things for Ellie like cool rocks, books, art supplies. One time she even found those little stick people poseable models you use in art class. Sometimes it's just neat pictures that Ellie can use as references or hang on her wall. It's always left on her desk or the window bench, places where she'll find them but never with a note. Ellie just knows they're from Red. Joel will find tools or parts for the guitar they're fixing. Sometimes it's new shirts, a new belt, Buddy Holly and Pink Floyd cassettes, a tuning fork, a flower. They're left on his pillow and even if they enter the room together, she doesn't mention they're from her and he doesn't bring it up. He'll only kiss her neck gently and put the items in their new homes then search the downstairs room and put whatever she found for herself in their room. He hates when she tucks herself away and will always show her place is with them. Tommy does not know about Red's odd gift giving method. He's just happy she hasn't glared at him in a couple weeks and is getting more confident she won't stab him. So he's slightly concerned and weirded out when he starts finding things on his doorstep. He almost steps on a small stuffed dog when he goes to leave the house. No name or letter is left with it, but he can tell the stuffed toy has been cleaned. Next it's a new watch strap then a new knife and a freshly cleaned baby blanket. Maria is just as baffled but not as ruffled, shrugging it off and saying maybe one of the neighbors maybe left it. When he brings it up to Joel, his brother just starts to laugh his ass off.

Time for a completely random Trody headcanon. Cody is obviously a huge fan of Weezer, so I like to think that Trent decided to learn how to play Buddy Holly on his guitar just so he can see the look on Cody's face when he plays it.

Hi! Kevin 5, 7, 8, 23 :3
Hello! Thanks for the ask :)
5. What’s the first song that comes to mind when you think of this character?
Either Weezer songs or Dorkcore 101 songs lol. He seems like the guy who would secretly vibe with Weezer until he started high school, like to think he let his dorkside show a lot more as he got older. Dorkcore 101 gave me the idea for a headcannon where Kevin starts his own experimental band. They play at a couple different locations and release like one album before disbanding after like 3 years. (Also while researching apparently the band Dorkcore 101 made a cover of “Buddy Holly” by Weezer so that’s kinda cool lol)
7. What does the fandom do with this character that you like?
I love when people make him dorky or nerdy. We don’t see enough of that side in the show and it makes me sad. I always love to see some tough character show a softer or sweeter side to their character.
8. What does the fandom do with this character that you dislike?
I don’t really like when people make him being tough and a jock his only personality. The show obviously shows a lot of him being tough and a jock since that’s kinda his role in the show but if you look closer you can see that he is just as much as a dork as the Ed’s at times.
23. What is your favorite screenshot of this character?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
one is of him being silly, the other I really love the shading.
Thanks once again! Sorry if some of these were short :(

The Quentin Tarantino Connection
When he was a teenager in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Quentin Tarantino was by his own admission way into ‘50s rockabilly music. “I was like the second coming of Elvis Presley. I dyed my hair black. I wore it in a big ole pompadour”, he said in an interview. In his recent book Cinema Speculation, he writes about discussing cinema with his mom’s black friend Floyd, who was into blaxploitation. He loved hearing Floyd’s first-hand accounts of being a black Elvis fan back in the 1950s, also rebuking claims that the King of Rock ‘n Roll was racist. He even included “Elvis impersonator” in his early résumé and it must have paid out because he was cast as one in an episode of the sit-com The Golden Girls in 1988. Incidentally, Tarantino was born in Elvis’ home state of Tennessee, where his mother is from, and as a kid was even left there for a year, describing his family as “hillbilly alcoholics”.
Tumblr media
Elvis often comes up in his movies. For example in a deleted scene of his now classic film Pulp Fiction (1994), Mia Wallace uses a hand-held video camera to interview Vincent Vega with either/or questions. She explains the game as follows: “There are only two kinds of people in the world, Beatles people and Elvis people”. Mia has no doubts about Vincent’s allegiance. With his swagger, callback to “Grease” and dance moves, John Travolta is an Elvis man through and through.
Tumblr media
Of course, Mia and Vincent later go a to ‘50s themed diner called Jack Rabbit Slim’s, where they have the famous twist contest dancing to Chuck Berry’s “You Never Can Tell”. The waiters are all dressed like dead stars from the 1950s, such as Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Buddy Holly. Even though, as Vincent would put it, the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll must have had the night off, in Mia’s words “an Elvis man should love it”. Tarantino said that the design for the diner, where the guests sit in booths made like ‘50s vintage cars and the dance floor looks like a tachometer, was partially inspired by the nightclub with race car motifs in one of Elvis’ movies, Speedway (1968).
Tumblr media
Tarantino references Elvis here and there in his work. In the novelization of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that he wrote, for example, Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie) is described by his agent Marvin (Al Pacino) as having spent all his career “running pocket combs through his pompadour”, which by 1969 not even Elvis has anymore.
His biggest Elvis homage came very early on in his career, though. As a matter of fact, to finance what would become his first movie, Reservoir Dogs (1992), Tarantino auctioned a script that he had written, True Romance. It was made into a movie by Tony Scott and it ultimately came out in 1993. True Romance begins with a casual conversation about pop culture in the style of Mr. Brown with his infamous “Like a Virgin” theory in Reservoir Dogs. Clarence (Christian Slater) is at a bar, chatting up a girl. Like Tarantino, Clarence prefers ‘50s Elvis and praises Jailhouse Rock (the movie not the song) where Elvis was everything that rockabilly was about: “Mean, surly, nasty, rude”. And then, obviously interested in picking up the girl, he continues: “Elvis looked good. I mean, I ain’t no fag, but Elvis was prettier than most women, you know. Most women. You know, I always said if I had to fuck a guy – you know, I mean, had to – if my life depended on it, I’d fuck Elvis”. Tarantino establishes the rules for his story right away: just like you have fantasies where you wish you were Elvis or as cool as Elvis, or you wish you could fuck him, this movie is a whole fantasy where you wish you were a hero who had a crazy adventure and passionate love story involving pimps, drugs and guns.
Tumblr media
Clarence, an alter ego for the author, falls madly in love with Alabama (Patricia Arquette), a call girl. Clarence loves martial arts movies, comic books, hamburgers and Elvis, just like the film director. He also wears Elvis glasses and drives a purple Cadillac. Throughout the movie, Elvis pops up several times, in magazines, on T-shirts and on furniture or posters. The most striking appearance is obviously when Clarence sees Elvis (Val Kilmer) in the bathroom mirror, dressed in his gold lamé suit but anachronistically sporting his ‘70s big glasses. Elvis tells Clarence that he has to kill Alabama’s pimp, and there the adventure begins.
Tumblr media
In Cinema Speculation, which sits halfway between film criticism and memoir, Tarantino goes back to Elvis several times. He writes that Elvis could have been the biggest movie star of the 1960s, if it weren’t for Colonel Parker’s greediness and for the weight of his own enormous success in the music business. He even mentions excitedly that Elvis was considered for the role of Sundance in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) opposite Warren Beatty, before the roles went to Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
Tarantino has always took a liking for B movies, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that he’s not dismissive of Elvis movies as a whole and writes about a few of them in detail. He considers Flaming Star (1960), for instance, to be “a truly great fifties Western, and maybe the most brutally violent American western of its era.” According to him, the film director, Don Siegel, who would go on to direct Dirty Harry (1971), was a master when it came to film fistfights and chase sequences. This was because of his background in editing and his penchant for violence. Tarantino also praises Don Siegel’s unexpected use of shocking bouts of violence, of which there are several in Flaming Star. His protagonists, including Elvis’ Pacer, were often at odds with the society they lived in, which reflected the way Siegel felt around film executives and producers. “Pod people” is how he called them, in reference to his movie The Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) and in this category he included Elvis’ nefarious manager, Colonel Tom Parker.
Tumblr media
Tarantino recognizes that Elvis movies weren’t real movies but “ElvIs movies”, but he’s a fan of Roustabout (1964) nevertheless. He describes it as: “a pretty entertaining little picture chock-full of cool elements, Elvis entering the movie on a motorcycle—dressed head to toe in black leather […], a strong Big Valley era Barbara Stanwyck as his colead, a one-line bit at the beginning by Raquel Welch, the best soundtrack of any of Elvis’ color films, including a rarity for the King on film—Elvis singing a cover of somebody else’s hit, the Coasters’ Little Egypt, and the only film where Elvis gets to demonstrate his Ed Parker-taught karate moves.” Because of course Tarantino loves martial arts movies, just like Elvis did. And blaxploitation, hamburgers, comic books and being over the top. They would have been great friends.
Read here my previous posts on Elvis connections. So far I’ve written about Jimi Hendrix, Andy Warhol/Bob Dylan, the Clash and Jim Morrison.

Introduction Post (pinned) I figured since I've made some new boop-friends and such, I might make a brief little introduction post about me and what you'll expect to see on my blog... even though it's kind of in my blog intro itself. *You can call me Undine! (she/her) it's nice to meet you all and as said before I had so much fun exchanging boops with everyone.
I like a bunch of stuff, but mainly I'm really into things from days gone by such as the oldies but goodies. We're talking:
Music. My listening scope is the 20s-60s; but with a main focus on the '50s-'60s. I even have a big ol' Spotify playlist compiled of my favorite oldies if you're interested in listening to that! There's even earlier music in there too. If you want to check out what kinds of artists I mainly listen to, I have a last.fm profile. It'll give you a better idea! But some of my favorites at the moment are Jim Reeves, Perry Como, Dean Martin, Sanford Clark, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Ricky Nelson, Lola Albright, Hank Williams, Webb Pierce, Faron Young, Starset, Vitas.... Obviously this list is not exhaustive and you can go to my Lastfm and pretty much my tastes are there! I mainly like rock n' roll and classic country but again, Lastfm will tell you!
Movies. I'll admit I don't really have the attention span for much movies but on the occasion that I do, the Golden Age of film is probably my go-to. I have a lot of stuff on my watchlist... procrastination is a big thing with me.
TV series, too. I like the older TV series but I'm into modern stuff as well (I promise I'm not just a boomer, the modern stuff applies to everything else too! /j). I really like the noir and detective noir genres. Some examples of TV series I like include Dragnet, Peter Gunn, Johnny Staccato, Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, the Addams Family, BBC's Merlin (still need to finish), Doctor Who (although unfortunately I've not been able to catch up in a long time so no spoilers please!)
Old-time radio. Dragnet (which originally started as OTR) and Broadway is my Beat are some examples of what I'm into. So going into this, you will probably see me post people or things from the medias above, or others also. Other things I like include:
Pokémon. A bit rusty as I've not played a mainline game nor completed one in a while although wanting to get back into it soon but still like it.
RWBY
History
Worldbuilding and writing!!
Playing video games
Photography, one day I hope to learn how to become a great photographer. Besides the above, I'll just browse and reblog things that I think are neat or that I like - variety is to be expected, my blog doesn't really follow a theme. And that is pretty much basically everything that I can think of, off the top of my head! If I think of anything else or get any new interests I will edit this post with the edit date. Welcome to my blog!

Hey, buddy. I'd like to make a request for a Greatwise one-shot.
Something like Will meets Gareth for the first time because he got invited at a Corroded Coffin show or because he got invited to play with Hellfire.
It was just a random idea.
Thank you in advance.
Tumblr media
I would love too! I hope you like this short one shot, wrote it in class lol
Night Owls Dancing In The Dark
SUMMERY: That weekend all of hellfire had been invited to a party, hosted by Mike while his parents, Holly and Nancy were away. Being Hellfire’s most recent member Will hesitantly arrived and mostly kept to himself. Eventually everything felt a bit overwhelming with so many people talking all at once so he stepped out to catch his breath, little did he know he’d find another in the backyard of the Wheelers.
WARNINGS: Some One-sided Byler angst, an appearance of one of my many ST OC’s and Greatwise!
A/N: AAAAAAH THE SKRUNKLES !!!!! Also all comments judging me for adding my OC will be deleted, I love Noelle sm she’s my little skrunkle scrimblo. It’s kinda rushed and not proofread so like enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The various metal bands blared through the two story house, Will had heard it as he started walking towards it. Sporting his new hellfire shirt that he received the same time as Erica and his blue flannel. He nervously approached the front door of the Wheeler’s house, normally he’d ring the doorbell with joy, waiting for Mike or Nancy to answer so him and Mike could hang out on the weekends, but now there were so many people he didn’t know like how he knew Lucas, Dustin, Mike and Erica. All his friends may know these people but he doesn’t and it scares him.
His palms were sweating and the way his hand had moved towards the doorbell was hesitance. Quickly he had rung it and pulled his arms to his sides. Will had heard some light footsteps before the door swung open and he was greeted with Mike’s smiling face.
“Will! You’re here! I got worried that you couldn’t make it or something, come on in lemme introduce you to all the members you haven’t met yet.” Mike happily took Will’s hand in his own and lead his best friend towards the living room where a large group of people were talking over loud music blasting from one of Eddie’s cassette tapes. Mike looked around and caught the attention of Eddie and Grant who were listening to the music and relaxing.
“EDDIE,” Mike had yelled over the metal song playing “WILL IS HERE!”
Will gave a gentle wave towards the two seniors, paired with a calming smile. Eddie and Grant both smiled back and nodded, waving as well. Mike once again lead the way to the kitchen, away from Eddie, Grant and Jeff who he had already met. This time Will was greeted with two new faces. One was a boy who had short brown hair and freckles covering his face and arms. The boy with freckles wasn’t wearing his Hellfire shirt unlike Will and most of the party attendees but a black shirt with the sleeves cut off, showing his slightly muscular arms, still adorned with the same freckles that spotted his face. He had a sort of grunge, punk vibe that Will couldn’t quite place, but he knew that he liked this guy. The other member he didn’t recognize was a short girl with two long pig tails, and curtain bangs. Similar to the freckled boy she had a hellfire shirt with the sleeves cut off but unlike all the other members she wore a medium length jean skirt and many pink bracelets.
“Guys! Will is here!” Mike let go of Will’s hand to gesture over to the freckled boy. “That’s Gareth, he doesn’t talk much but he’s nice to chill out with.”
The boy named Gareth’s gaze softened as he looked at Will, giving a pleasant grin and waved before cocking his head to the side and listening to whatever rant Dustin was going on.
“And the girl over there is Noelle, try not to piss her off she’s kinda mean.” Mike lowered his voice a bit to say that last part but obviously Noelle heard it because she had said something in foreign language that he can only assume is Russian based on the slight accent.
Lucas looked over at Will for a moment. “Oh yeah also she speaks like 4 languages so that’s cool!” Noelle smirked and flipped her hair to the side before leaning against the counter.
“My dad insisted I learned Russian from a young age and my mom is Chinese so I learned all three languages growing up”
Will smiled and looked at everyone. “Well it’s nice to finally meet you two, I’ve heard a lot about you!”

All the members of hellfire —Minus Erica since she’s only 11— had been in the living room of the Wheelers, talking while music played. It was overwhelming, it felt stressful yet he had barely spoken a word since he got there. Will had never been with so many people in such a small space before, he had to get out and take a breather. He silently stood up, stretching his back and stepping out to the backyard. He took a second to lie down in the grass, staring up at the dark sky. He looked at the stars and how they glimmered. There were so many of them and so close together. It reminded him of the freckled boy, Gareth. He could still hear the music from inside, he assumes that Dustin or Lucas changed it because Eddie would never willingly listen to The Smiths. With the sound of This Charming Man playing, Will heard the glass door open and then closing along with soft steps in the grass until he saw a glimpse of curly brown hair. The figure sat down next to him in the grass.
Will looked to his side to see Gareth fondly looking at him. He gave a confused look towards the drummer and it caused Gareth to giggle a bit before speaking up. “Did you need to get away too?”
Will thought for a second before responding.
“Yeah..I- I mean I love my friends and all,” He paused, not sure if he should have said anything at all. “But they’re just a lot sometimes. And I like looking at the stars.”
Gareth laid his head back and stared at the sky with Will for a few minutes before turning on his side to talk to Will.
“So Will The Wise, would it be too much to ask you to dance with me? This is one of my favorite songs.”
Will let out a small laugh, assuming that Gareth was joking. That was until he stood up, dusted off his pants and reached out his hand for Will to grab. Will hesitantly laid his hand in Gareth’s before being quickly pulled up, their chests meeting and their faces inches from eachother. Gareth smiled before taking a couple steps back and the two spun for a second. The two danced through songs, from Blondie and Kate Bush to Queen and KISS.
Tumblr media
By this time most everyone was gone, as Gareth was getting ready to leave as well, Will offered to walk him to the door and when those words left his mouth Gareth perked up and held Will’s hand. When they got to the front door Will stood in the threshold of the door as Gareth stood at the bottom of the single step. Light enveloped Will’s body, cascading down his back and arms.
“You look like an angel from here..” He hadn’t realized what he said until Will’s face had flushed a light pink. Gareth quickly rummaged into his jacket pocket, pulling out a scrap of paper and handing it to Will.
“Call me angel!” Gareth calmly sped walk down the walkway and into his car, driving away. Will opened the folded paper and it had Gareth’s number written on it.
“Maybe coming here wasn’t a mistake..”

do you have any plans for the way that hollyleaf and cinder heart's relationship works out in your rewrite? i'm really curious ngl
Poor Hollyleaf is dealing with the narrative so much that she never has the time to work through the feelings for all the cats she has in her life.
Cinderpaw and her are simple friends from a young age. Not quite like Jay and Poppy, but whenever Holly sits to share tongues, or grab a buddy to have lunch with, she's usually plopping down with Cinderpaw and Lionpaw. Sometimes when they both get tired of Lionpaw being a bit of a meathead, they go find some extra tasks to get involved with.
For Hollypaw it's casual. For Cinderpaw... it means the world, so much more than Hollypaw knows.
Cinder looks forward to it all the time. Sometimes she says something a little too overeager, and then agonizes that night over if she said the wrong thing or not. But one day it's Hollypaw's turn; Ever-so-serious, she teased out a lighthearted nickname, "Do you want to go collect some cobnuts for Leafpool.... C-Cindy?"
Holly walked away from that encounter thinking it was rude, chiding herself for stuttering, thinking about how Cinderpaw always says the right thing and how she totally thinks she's a complete idiot now.
Cinderpaw carves "Hollypaw x Cindy" onto a holly twig and stashes it into her nest and purrs every time she looks at it, hastily stashing it whenever someone else pads into the Apprentice Den.
It's the kind of love where they both have reciprocated feelings, but never come out and say it, assuming they're getting in each other's ways. Especially once it becomes obvious Hollypaw has other... options.
First, it's how her brief tenure ends as a medicine cat apprentice, and she still likes to spend gatherings beside Willowpaw. But that's understandable. That's NORMAL. It's NORMAL and UNDERSTANDABLE to have friends in other Clans. Cinderpaw repeats this in her head, over and over and over.
Lionpaw says something and Cinderpaw realizes she wasn't present for the past 10 minutes. It's unsettling, but she moves on. She doesn't understand why she cares so much about Willowpaw
When it REALLY becomes noticeable is when Heatherpaw walks into the scene
CW: Public embarrassment; Cinderheart causes a scene, the girls are FIGHTING, this character has BPD. It ends fine though I promise
Because WOW Hollypaw is bad at hiding how much she's thinking of Heatherpaw. Suddenly she wants to walk on the southern side of the forest. She's got a taste for rabbits. She spends less time sharing tongues after dinner.
Cinderpaw starts to feel like maybe she did something wrong, or something IS wrong, and she plans to get to the bottom of it... unfortunately, she goes about it in the worst way possible.
Cinder cuts Holly off before she leaves the camp one evening and before she knows it, 'getting to the bottom of it' means demanding an answer, her lips running away with her tongue, "What are you doing? Have somewhere to be?"
So of course, Holly responds with aggression in kind, "I'm going out obviously? What's your problem??"
"You're ALWAYS going out these days, aren't we all good enough?" By this point ThunderClan is staring, and Cinderpaw is feeling their burning stares on her pelt. And yet, she continues, "If you like WindClan so much why don't you LIVE there?"
Hollypaw's eyes flash with sharp pain, followed by fury. Holly's brothers are leaping up and running over, but Holly says something she knows will hurt her, "It would be better than dealing with you!"
As Holly dashes and her brothers bolt after her, Cinderpaw's heart CRASHES. The camp is spinning around her, a concoction of anger, shame, sorrow, and gut wrenching embarrassment swirls in her stomach, almost knocking her over.
She retreats to her nest, breaking her little love twig in half and burying her face in the moss hoping she'll never see or be seen by Hollypaw ever again. Brackenfur comes in to try and comfort his daughter, and she bubbles miserably into his soft chest.
He doesn't understand a word she's saying but he's Supportive and that is what matters.
Holly is missing well into the night, neither her nor her brothers anywhere to be found, and Cinderpaw starts to blame herself. If they never come home, it'll be her fault for snapping like that and she promises she'll NEVER forgive herself.
But they come home. Soaked, tired, and HATING tunnels, but they come home. It starts Cinderpaw's tears up ALL over again, squeezing Hollypaw close, being squeezed in turn, apologizing, Holly admitting,
"I didn't mean what I said, I was mad and-!"
Being cut off, "I don't know why I did that, I shouldn't have done that-"
They put it behind them, for now.
But this marks the beginning of Cinderpaw's arc of instability, and learning how to handle her impulsive decision-making. For Hollypaw, Cinder is a friend, a crush, an ally, but someone she also occasionally has spats with.
Especially since Cinderpaw's mentor is Thornclaw, a secret admirer of Thistle Law, and Hollypaw's mentor is Brackenfur, Firestar's deputy and bearer of Fire Alone.

Questions from the character ask game!
For Shauna Shipman
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?
thank you for the ask!!
5. the first song i think off when i think about her is brown eyed girl! but if we’re talking on a DEEPER more psychological level, when the sun hits
8. i feel like the demonise her too much, in the team timeline i mean. especially with the whole jackie thing. imagine how YOU would feel, stranded in the wilderness for months with your best friend who you feel over shadows you, who’s boyfriend you’re fucking and who’s baby you’re pregnant with. that same best friend who isn’t contributing to the group and still feels like she is the leader, when normal societal roles aren’t being used at all. like obviously you would go fucking insane after she died??? she felt like she was the reason jackie died but she couldn’t have done anything to stop her. it was literally set in jackie’s mind “im staying out here and i don’t care” i doubt jackie would have came in if shauna had asked her to. obviously the shit shauna ended up doing is fucked up but the poor girl is traumatised, there is NO rules set up in the group really, that is her way of coping and it’s understandable. people talk to their loved ones graves so what’s so different about shauna?? “it was a corpse” shut upppp omd !! what did you expect her to do?? she’s, again, traumatised. she has this whole thing played out in her head between her and jackie and it HELPS her when jackie is there. she wouldn’t have gotten anywhere with her bones .
14. a lot of her outfits are very nirvana-ish i feel. looking at some of kurt’s outfits they’re very similar style wise, flannels, jeans . but i feel like she could also have a similar style as maren from bones and all; sweater over a long dress, short floral dress and a leather jacket. she definitely wears more masculine clothes in the wilderness and feminine at home. i wouldn’t call her style grunge, it’s very androgynous so it’s kinda hard to put my finger on it
22. i like when they make references to herself before the wilderness like they include the music she likes for example: you got into her car, buddy holly by weezer was playing. you know? the girl who doesn’t like to fight but isn’t afraid to stand up for herself. one thing i (HATE HATE HATE) don’t like is when they make her seem like just a jock. like this girl WAS SMART AS HELL EARLY ADMISSION AT BROWN??? HELLO???

I should’ve decked his ass, the ancestors would’ve loved it!)
