kanae notices that sanemi's kinda nervous when he's supposed to come to her house for the first time and she gives him this really sweet pep talk about how he has nothing to be nervous about because her parents are gonna love him and he's gonna get along with them so well and they're so kind and fun to be around and when she's finished he's like "thank you so much i'm actually scared of shinobu tho" and she just goes "oh yeah well lol u should be ngl"

all of sanemi's siblings love kanae, they always follow her around when she visits and draw her pictures (mostly flowers, sometimes they draw her with sanemi and she keeps all of those pictures hidden from him in a box under her bed so he won't be embarrassed)

(butterfly girls are still a thing, they're all shinobu's and kanae's adopted sisters) aoi and kanao actually knew sanemi before he and kanae got together because they've been friends with genya since elementary school and shinobu finally admits he might not be as horrible as she suspected when she sees aoi tackle him at the door and he doesn't even hesitate before picking her up and swinging her around

they'd become a couple at 16/17 and at some point later sanemi gets a motorcycle because don't tell me he wouldn't and kanae's not very enthusiastic at first ("motorcycles are death machines i'm telling you!") until he takes her for a ride and she falls in love with it even more than him ("and there's my giiiirl, looking good!" - "flower i'm like. right here.")

they were caught making out at a party by tengen and mitsuri and when sanemi went "if you tell anyone i'll kill you!" mitsuri immediately reassured him that ofc they wouldn't tell anyone. she then turns to tengen like "right uzui" and he's on his phone; "hang on i gotta send this to the group chat- what were you saying?"

sanemi's hesitant with buying flowers, jewelry, clothes or anything like that for kanae because of his colorblindness and mitsuri picks up on that (besties because i said so) and offers her help so from then on sanemi sends her pictures of things to doublecheck and sometimes she'll go shopping with him and help him pick out flowers

kanae likes to put small gifts in sanemi's locker in between periods when they're still in school so sometimes he'll find small baked goods or a cute sticker or something like that and you better believe he puts all of those stickers on his folders and books (obanai tries to bully him about it but sanemi can't be bothered)

kanae always patches sanemi up when he gets into a fight and makes sure he's okay but it's obvious that she's upset about it and sanemi's trying to hard to stop but it's really hard, then a particularly brutal fight lands him in the hospital and that's what gets him to finally open up to her about it and accept her help (it gets better after that)

kanae loves sanemi's scars and she likes to subtly kiss them when he's feeling kinda down to signalize that she loves all of him (he knows what she's doing but he never addresses it because it kinda works and also he doesn't want to destroy the illusion of being sneaky for her)

And the MOTORCYCLE YESSS!!! My man's definitely a biker- He'd get a super cool one with wind designs on it- always bringing an extra helmet (and a small one for the kiddos if he's picking up either his siblings or her siblings). He'd get her one with flowers and butterflies on it cause she's adorable and deserves it. They'd go on long drives at night, her arms around his chest and face against his back. He'd love every moment of it.

THE SIBLINGS LOVING THEM YES!!! His little bros and sisters would ADORE HER! Her little ducklings- they'd follow her into around like you said, bringing little flowers or doodles, asking for hugs or for her to braid their hair, she's got such a lovely voice too- they'd ask her to read them stories or sing to them AHH! And I just love the idea of Sanemi and Aoi being a little tag team of chaos! He'd be her number one supporter (and practice patient- the guy's accident prone whoops) when she starts wanting to go to medical school.

NOT UZUI HELP KEJKREJRJKEWRKJEWKJRJK But yes oh my god even in the canon they're besties holy- I love Mitsuri being his guide due to his colorblindness. The Flowers AHHH! He'd get her all kinds! Part 2

Sanemi was horrible at feelings.

He was horrible at expressing that he cared about the people around him.

You think he was happy whenever he got news another corps member died to a demon?

Shizu, Masachika, Kanae, Rengoku.

None of them deserved their cruel and brutal deaths.

Even though Sanemi caused Shizu's.

It was Kanae and Rengoku's deaths that made him feel scared uncomfortable.

They were both caused by uppermoons.

Uppermoons that hadn't been too active in multiple years.

So in the lightest way possible, he got a heart attack when he learned that a boy named Shinazugawa Genya entered the final selection and passed, making him a Mizunoto of the Demon Slayer Corps.

In the hardest way possible, Sanemi felt as if the entire world shattered. The tiny hope and possibility that Genya could live a peaceful life was ruined just like that. His foundation for living was taken away and he was balancing on a tightrope.

But of course, he had a brilliant idea.

To degrade him.

To bully Genya out of the corps.

Maybe, just maybe, if he was harsh enough Genya would leave.

So yeah, Sanemi was horrible at feelings.

He really did care though.

He cared about his co-workers (even if some of them pissed him off)

And he definitely cared about his brother.

Sanemi knew Genya thought he loved him.

As sad as it was, He needed Genya not to love him.

So Sanemi said the harshest things possible.

It hurt, it really did.

It hurt to say that about his little brother.

And to put it lightly, He got a brain aneurysm and went into cardiac arrest when he learned that his little brother got into a fight with uppermoon fucking four.

And a revival from his coma when he realized that Genya was alive and had defeated uppermoon four.

He was proud.

Then he physically died when Genya told him he ate a fucking demon for him.

Holy shit

Okasān?

So Sanemi followed his plan.

He spit venom in front of him.

And spit venom behind his back.

"Absolutely useless. Can't even use a single breathing style. And he eats demons? Talk about a scum. Deserves to rot in hell."

Sanemi heard movement outside his door, the a small voice saying:

"Hm? Where am I?"

He recognized the voice.

He stood up abruptly, marching to the door and steeling his resolve, ready to bully Genya again.

He swung open the door to be met with a pair of eyes.

A pair of eyes that looked so dead.

A pair of eyes that were not his brothers.

"Well Well Well. If it isn't the scum. The hell are you doing in front of my door punk?"

A pause.

"Who are you?"

A line that shattered Sanemi's soul.

"Genya...?"

"Oh right, sorry for pausing in front of your door hashira-sama, i'll be on my way."

With that the boy was gone.

And so was Sanemi's will to live.

Villagers, sneering at him for his dirty clothes and bruises. Slayers, looking down on him for not using breathing styles. His father sperm donor, cursing him out while stepping on his mother.

His mother.

Shizu

A woman who looked as if she would shatter underneath any sort of physical contact. A woman who Genya knew could last hours being beaten up, after all they lived with the same abuser. A woman who would sing Genya lullabies after Kyogo that bastard hit a little too hard.

His mother.

His mother, the person that came home too late one night.

His mother, the person that extended her claws on people she vowed to protect.

His mother, laying in his hands as he screamed at the one person who saved him, calling him a murder.

Genya knew he was pathetic.

That still didn't change the sinking feeling of absolute despair when he heard what Sanemi said about him.

Genya thought that because he helped take down uppermoon 4, his brother, his own kin would be proud of him.

It was a measly thought. A thought that was a string. A string that kept his sanity intact.

The string snapped.

And so did his sanity.

Brutal honest opinion on Ichiruki, Ulquihime, Ishihime, grimmichi, GinRan and HitsuHina 👀

Alright, here I go!

IchiRuki: Honestly, IchiRuki has always been more of a BROTP than an OTP to me, though I can see why some people are drawn towards it. But I just can’t see them as a romantic ship; their relationship always felt like either a younger brother-older sister relationship or a mentor-student relationship. And they kicked each other around too much for me to see anything romantic in it. And that’s fine; for me, that’s what makes it such a good relationship. There’s nothing romantic in it, but it’s strong enough to have changed both Ichigo and Rukia for the better. Also, after hearing all the horror stories about the IR fandom and how they’ve treated other fans, that was also enough to put me off the ship.

UlquiHime: I’ll be honest, this ship is kind of a guilty pleasure for me. I can see why it’s appealing for some people, and to those who genuinely ship it, good for you. You do you. After all, the dynamics between Ulquiorra and Orihime are quite messed up, and it could work as a Mind Game Ship. However, too many times I have seen it used as a spite-ship, and the fact that those spite-shippers say that it’s “healthier” than IchiHime is just bewildering. Like, Ichigo never taunted Orihime to the point where she slapped him, he never psychologically abused her, and he never once threatened to tie her down and force-feed her, Ichigo has always brought out the best in Orihime. So when haters say that Ulquiorra made Orihime “develop”, I just get mad. Because according to them, the only way for a woman to become stronger is if she’s mentally, emotionally, and psychologically abused until she has a complete breakdown, right? (That was sarcasm) And the fact that the spite-shippers do nothing but victim-blame Orihime for her reactions to seeing Ichigo getting killed during the Lust Arc is enough to turn me off as well. So while UH is a guilty pleasure, I can’t ship it romantically.

IshiHime: Again, like IchiRuki, I see IshiHime as more of a BROTP than anything else. And what I said for genuine UH shippers applies here too: if you genuinely ship IshiHime, good for you. But again, I’ve seen this used as a spite-ship one too many times for me to actually enjoy potential content. I like Orihime’s interactions with Ishida because they also have a sibling-like undertone to them, and I never really saw Ishida as having a crush on Orihime, to be honest. They do care about each other, for sure, but I never really saw anything romantic in their interactions. But when Ishida is turned into a Nice Guy™ who thinks he’s entitled to Orihime’s bread buns, that’s what really puts me off. And besides, I ship Ishida with Nemu more, because I personally think they’re cuter.

GrimmIchi: I can see why this ship is so popular, but I dunno… I’m just not really crazy about it, I guess? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I do think it’s quite interesting and super hot, but I’m just… indifferent, I suppose. I don’t have too many opinions on this ship, and I’ll be honest, I’m more of a GrimmNel shipper than GrimmIchi. I don’t think this ship is bad or horrible or anything like that, but if I see a GrimmIchi fanart that I like, then I’ll definitely reblog and enjoy it. And when it comes to male-male Ichigo ships, I tend to ship him with either Ishida, Chad, or Renji. And with Grimmjow, I tend to ship him with either Nelliel or Renji. But overall, GrimmIchi is okay, I guess.

GinRan: This ship is so tragic, it makes me cry. I really like how GinRan is perhaps the most tragic romance in the entire manga, and while it may not be a major OTP, I do like it a bit. Yes, Gin is a sociopath who has hurt Kira and gets off on psychologically messing with people, but I do think that he genuinely loved Rangiku. The fact that he pretended to betray Soul Society all for the sake of getting revenge for Rangiku is kinda touching, but it doesn’t change the fact that he ended up hurting her even more than he would’ve if he’d just stayed with her in Soul Society. Gin’s death scene was sad, especially when Rangiku was crying over him. But even though he loves her, it doesn’t change the fact that he left Kira a broken shell of his former self and has done other horrible things because he could. So yeah, GinRan is definitely a very tragic, heartbreaking romance that surpasses that of Isshin and Masaki, and Ryuken and Kanae.

HitsuHina: I also love this ship, it’s so cute! I really like how much Toshiro cares about Momo, and how their relationship was showcased during the Soul Society Arc. Despite the fact that Momo is older than Toshiro, she is incredibly idealistic in her sheer admiration for Aizen, and her heartbreak at Aizen’s (presumed) death really shows her naiveté. It serves as a good contrast to Toshiro’s slight maturity and experience as a captain. Also, I really like how Momo’s presence softens up Toshiro, and how angry he gets for her. The fact that they’re childhood friends helps, and so they’re a super cute ship that I like a lot.

Top Five Kana Hanazawa Roles

Does anyone know whether she’s still dating Kensho Ono? I’m kind of curious now. I hope everything worked out for the both of them. If they get married, they will be an iconic seiyuu duo for sure. 

I won’t be including anime that I haven’t watched in its entirety, so that means I will be excluding Nadeko Sengoku from the Monogatari series (that means no Renai Circulation), Naho Takamiya from Orange, Akane Tsunemori from Psycho-Pass (I’ll watch that eventually), and Mayuri Shiina from Steins;Gate. And by “entirety”, I mean I have watched at least one season.

I even had to narrow down my honourable mentions. Kana Hanazawa has that many good roles. A lot of the ones I took out were either because I didn’t like the anime themselves (ex. Danganronpa’s Chiaki Nanami) or I didn’t like the characters themselves (ex. Zetsuen no Tempest’s Aika Fuwa). Actually, I didn’t like Zetsuen no Tempest at all in both characters and stories. Bones can only do so much to animate their way out of a garbage can.

Honourable Mentions (That I Have Watched)

Seryuu Ubiquitous - Akame Ga Kill

Nobody likes this character, and that’s okay. I have a soft spot for some crazy anime characters when they’re done right, so I didn’t mind her at all. Twisted as she is, I don’t think you’re supposed to like this character, but I’ve got to admit, she was a badass. Sure, she killed a lot of people, but that dog was kind of cute when it wasn’t committing a massacre. Also, she had some awesome fight scenes and a great death scene paired with it. That’s barely even a spoiler. We all knew where this anime was going. It rivals AOT with its death count. Here are “All Deaths Under 15 Minutes”.

Kougyoku Ren - Magi 

At the end of it all, she’s just a teenage girl who had a crush on a guy that didn’t like her back and was notorious for being a f***boi. That’s okay though. Here’s another badass with awesome powers that can kill a lot of people. She’s responsible for one of the most iconic moments in the series despite being a supporting character, and she has a lot of cute moments. She’s one of those girls who can make flower crowns and beat you in a fight. She’s also a princess. Here’s a video (it’s basically a compilation of her relationship with Alibaba in the anime) and here’s another with a fight scene.

Shiemi Moriyama - Ao no Exorcist

(This moment alone makes me want to watch the anime again even though it wasn’t very good)

Shiemi may not be the best character, but she’s way better than poop eyebrows (I have a feeling no one knows who I’m talking about, but she’s her classmate who’s an absolute bitch). Here are some ship moments, and here’s some brutal friendzoning.

Anri Sonohara - Durarara!! 

(She’s the girl on the right. I couldn’t just not use this gif.)

Durarara is a weirdly enjoyable random hodgepodge of random ideas put together. Her, Mikado, and Kida get stuck in a whole lot of weird stuff, but I definitely didn’t expect some of those turns. 

Natsume Tsuchimikado - Tokyo Ravens 

Okay, maybe this anime was a pile of crap from a critical perspective, but I still enjoyed it besides some of the cringy moments. I was expecting Natsume to be more of a badass, but at least she can summon a dragon, right? She also did some stuff near the end... I guess.

5. Rize Kamishiro - Tokyo Ghoul

Name a worse first date. Kaneki ended up nearly getting killed by her, but that doesn’t matter. A bunch of other shady stuff happens, and it doesn’t make sense until you read the manga. Isn’t that nice? Anyway, it’s just nice to see the insane range in this role, and even though Tokyo Ghoul (anime) is kind of dumb, at least we know there’s a good cast backing it up.

4. Kanade Tachibana - Angel Beats!!

I haven’t watched this in ages since it was one of the first anime I watched, but this role is kind of feels-worthy, so yeah, it’s going to be on the list. Sure, she has no emotion most of the time, but she’s oddly mysterious and has some things going for her. I mean, she’s one of the only characters to get proper development out of that large cast. And that last scene with her and Otonashi is known to be quite the moment.

3. Kosaki Onodera - Nisekoi 

Because casting is so important, somehow this role made it all the way up here. While I didn’t like Kouki Uchiyama being cast as Raku (I don’t like Raku as a character either), I thought Kana as Onodera was a good choice, and she did it well. I didn’t like Nisekoi. A lot of its humour was derived from Raku getting the crap beat out of him, and the romance part is just utter torture. If you’re keeping track who the “best girl” is (between Chitoge and Kosaki) I would choose Kosaki any day of the week. I would prefer not to get beat to a pulp. But at the end of the day, I still can’t believe Raku made the wrong decision.

2. Roka Shibasaki - D-Frag

Wow. Two harems back to back. You know, this one didn’t even say it was a harem, and to be fair, that’s because the majority of the series is surrounded by the game club and the comedy writing of the show. I actually liked the cast of this show, and it did make me laugh. I didn’t like the romance part of it too much because I felt like they shouldn’t have included it if they weren’t going to go beyond where they did. But Roka is still a funny character. Who knew that a loli would be the underground boss that can intimidate delinquents?

1. Shiro - Deadman Wonderland

Deadman Wonderland is not as bad as people make it out to be. Sure, there is a rough beginning that makes practically no sense, but I’m sure they explain it further in the manga somewhere. Shiro is a weirdly insane girl who just wants to be with Ganta. She may or may not have committed mass and/or serial murders, but when has that ever stopped her? Kana Hanazawa was great in this role, and I wouldn’t want to watch the dub just because I feel like the original duo (Romi Park and Kana Hanazawa) are great the way they are.
