stanning fengqing is so useless bc 100% of their interactions are them canonically trying to off one another, but the way i need to interpret them are borderline delusional. like yes, look, they briefly glanced at each other in absolute loathing and abhorrence of each other's existence, and they do indeed strike at each other's most mortifying moments with the intention to hurt deeply. BUT if you look CLOSELY at how their gazes LINGER then you can tell that they actually very slightly in a very teeny tiny way yearn for each other in a way that transcends distance and time...no no wait come back i swear it's true—

this may be rather unexpected, yes, but i am currently living for a thought i just had this morning - and it is related to the energy that barton brings to his clinic whenever another character's partner is being a jerk and trying to minimize their pain + just starting an argument with them in general. because barton will hit him with this little number right here and it works every time 'hey... sir/ma'am/mix, this office CAN do a lot - but it can't fix your attitude so i'm gonna have to ask you to leave or i'll have you escorted out :D'

in other news, because November Is Approaching, I’ve been in political circles more often on this website, and I’ve been in fandom spaces so much more frequently up until now that I forget that the same rules don’t apply for politics? Specifically, in fandoms, it is accepted and even expected that if you don’t like/ agree with something, you just move on, don’t comment, and steer yourself away from stuff like that in the future, and if you choose not to do that and to instead be an asshole about it, multiple people are generally like “hey man, clearly this wasn’t meant for you. Go about your business and leave them alone”.

And what I forgot about politics is that it’s almost the exact opposite. If you don’t agree, you are obligated to say exactly why and extrapolate on why the original person’s opinion is trash and morally reprehensible. And what’s more, no one at all is like “hey, obviously if this is a post about voting in the U.S. and you don’t live here, it’s not for you” or “if you don’t care about lgbtq rights, obviously you won’t care what Harris has done for them and won’t vote for her. No need to comment about it, bud”. And it’s consistently a little shocking for me.

Now obviously, things discussed in political discussions are waaaay more important than, say, what two characters should but won’t get together, and I’m not trying to say that political discussions should be more like interacting with fan content in that dissenting opinions aren’t welcome, because political discussions shouldn’t be that way; bad decisions are more easily made when no one challenges the rational behind them. It’s just an extreme culture shock to go from spaces where you’re going to be called out and criticized for even politely disagreeing with the OP to ones where it is perfectly ordinary to find not only a comment section made up completely of people who disagree with OP, but who also readily insult and belittle them for making the post in the first place.
