AH FUCK. THE CONSEQUENCES OF MY ACTIONS. THE FUCKING QUENCIES BRO. HOW DARE. okay. gonna focus on writing just bc that's what I've been doing the most of lately -_-

1: I rlly like how i start fics. I didn't realize i was doing this but I think im good at like... doing that 1 sentence hook intro? if that makes sense? no buildup or whatever I just go BAM here's your situation now let's describe it. i think it's fun :)

2: I think esp with prime defenders lately I've gotten pretty good at staying in character? i hope? my love for character studies is the basis of all of my creations i think

3: I DONT CAAARE HOW . GOOFED ON IT IS. there is NOTHING more satisfying 2 me than a lowercase lyric fic title. my favorite part of finishing a fic is then listening to music and going "yeah this is the one" and that's my title. subliminal messaging spreading my music tastes to the world. You Will Listen To Creature Feature . I love you song lyric titles and captions they could never take you away from me

4: im especially proud of stitch me up, love !!!!!!!!! i dont write poetry much so I'm wayyyy out of practice with it but I think that one has such a nice flow to it. also it's. insight into wiwi freakisms without being tooooo heavyhanded I think? and i love those VERY much . possessed by the spirit of body painting sfx and weird poetry about it <3

5: surprise surprise who would've guessed it but. I rlly like describing gore :] I think im getting a lot better at it. this will be more obvious in the nhw tidalwave and also post canon evildead fics but. I think reading worm especially has given me a lot more language to be like "oh I'm gonna make this GROSS AND UNCOMFORTABLE" . I love horror i love describing horror. hellyeah

to actually gather my thoughts about the triangle strategy demo: 

gameplaywise, its fun, i very obviously like tactical rpgs lol.

in many ways it feels like a HARD course correction from octopath (in terms of story + character, the gameplay genres are obv different). like theres 9 main characters, but unlike octopath where you could only find out their story connection in the post game, you get them all really early and have some connection to the plot at hand. i especially enjoy the voting mechanic- it has a chance of becoming annoying (like if EVERY major choice is made like that it will get old), but compared to many other rpgs where characters will follow the protagonist to places they absolutely would never go to just bc game mechanics, its neat.

it also is clearly trying to go for “big ensemble cast, but one narrative”, and in some ways it seems geared up to succeed at this. everyone feels like they belong there. but, unless the writing gets much, much cleverer or there are some fun twists down the line. my god it is dumbed down. like the first or second narration tells you the peace negotiations are going to go tits up, right? then why does every. character. you. talk. to. go. like. “hmmmm these make me nervous u know ppl in power are sneaky i dont think this will go good haha lol dont mind me actually”. like just have some people acting suspicious or saying things seemingly counter to everyones “shared” goal. it just beats you over the head with the rlly fucking obvious fact its gonna go wrong bc this is an tactical rpg so u need a war in order to have battles to fight. its a given. its not like its a game intended for young kids. even if u had to spell it out there are much smoother ways to do it. everything in the game is honestly repeated at you endlessly in really blunt ways, its tiresome.

 and the big elephant in the room is. well. under the cut for discussions of racism and specifically Islamaphobia:

for firstly, im a little sick and tired of the rpg (and specifically jrpg) thing where its like “fantasy racism except its mostly against conventionally attractive anime women who have like, a different hair color” (the rosalle or whatever theyre called). like yes it is a real world thing for non traditional features to be demonized but like actually DO that instead of just giving them pink hair and calling it a night. like a LOT of the oomph in frederica scenes are undercut due to that. shes a hot, skinny as a toothpick-with-still-prominent-breasts white lady, and her hair is just pink. thats fucking it. if ur gonna make this point, fucking commit. but its not even about the message, its just about giving a main character a tragic backstory, bc thats all racism is to a lot of game writers especially

the even BIGGER issue tho, is hyzante. thats the path i chose to take for my first playthrough of the demo, and i noticed some. Issues. like its clearly an Islamic inspired region, like i recognized those geometric tiles immediately (and thats just bc i know art history, the orientalist way the characters are drawn, the stock standard music, everything, reeks of the inspiration in a way that isnt flattering, but what do u expect from these people [looks at primose and where u meet her with a glare]). theyre considered the most “advanced” nation of the three in the game, which SHOULD be a good thing, but the plot if thats where you choose to go? the (all lily white, european inspired) protagonists discover that their peaceful way of life and religion are actually oppressive and only function by tight control of the people. the native religion of the Arabic inspired region is oppressive to free thought and self expression, and it based on strict rules one cannot stray from.

to add the cherry on top, the ones responsible for + the most active participant in the aforementioned fantasy racism against pretty white ladies with pink hair? the Arabic inspired people, who are like the ONLY group in the game to have characters who arent freshly fallen snow white, are the main racists in the game. cool cool awessssome.

like honestly, id be willing to believe its just extremely harmful ignorance and the writers + artists werent making this connection but the “ignorance” part of “harmful ignorance” doesnt reduce the “harm” part, especially from a company and genre that seems personally hellbent on ensuring orientalism never dies

Wow, this latest BAT chapter made me emotional. When I got into Hypmic, I didn't expect it to be so dark; it's hard to imagine a series that talks about family issues, trauma, depression, etc. also has lyrics like, "GLUG GLUG GLUG GLUG GOOBY GOOBY GOO!" XD Thanks to everybody for your hard work! <3 I was wondering if you/the team are okay with the content? It never bothers you? Idk why I'm concerned haha but I don't want you to be stuck translating something that makes you uncomfy. Take care :)

Ray: i was a little emotional shaken by [DH/BAT 5] tbh staring at jyushi crying and writing the awful stuff the characters were saying to him  was so [broken heart emoji]. i think w tsting the distance from what is on the content of the pages is a bit.. bc u have to be very cautious w what is being said whos saying it how theyre saying it etc 

Suwa: hifumi was spitting bars wdym. all i feel is rage whenever i see iyogis face i hate that bitch so much, but like? the content is ok lol you dont rlly feel anything after staring at the same page for 3 hours a day to try and fill in the screentones

Aura: I can't say it "bothers" me, but all the trauma causes damage to my mental health, like I had depression for two or three months after Fling Posse's before the 2nd rap battle album released But I'm totally ok with it since I love to see their bonds and friendship, I really enjoy the fact that they all found a family for themselves So I'll be ok 

Mora: me personally i think the content is poggers. i usually just clean and try to guess what's going on. sometimes i tell slug my interpretation of the chapter. [And they are the best interpretations - Slug]

Ren: It makes me sad to see a character go through that kind of manipulation and trauma but it doesn't bother me to work on it because as a cleaner it's my job. I'm pretty thick-skinned. 

Utsura: I think that the material is very good at invoking an emotional response when I'm in the moment, but I'm good at compartmentalizing the events in the material so it doesn't affect my mental health outside of when I'm directly engaged w the media. Like I have issues w listening to School of IKB & Stella bc they make me emotional, but i won't deny they are super good & i appreciate them. [Here Ray said, “ i think they mean how it affects us when ur directly working on it :0″] OH LMAO LIKE IK WHATS GOING ON WHEN I CLEAN. I'm usually too busy swearing at screentones to process. Even then, i look at the art on a very objective level, so I'm moreso analyzing how composition will illicit an emotional response & stuff.

Slug: Like Utsura says, I approach text more from an analytical standpoint than from anything else most of the time. It’s not like reading a book where I experience it passively - I’m actively thinking, “What is the purpose of this? What emotions are the characters feeling, and how does this text and this art combined create an emotional response in the reader? What can I do to create these emotional responses in English readers?��� and so on. Because there’s that distraction factor, I’m not usually bothered by any of the content, even when some of the situations hit close to home. I remember that BB/MTC chapter 7′s war scene was uncomfortable to work on because it dragged painful memories up to the surface and put me back in an older mindset for a couple of days. But for the most part, that doesn’t happen. I’m very lucky that my few experiences with bullying didn’t affect me in the slightest, so none of the DH/BAT content is emotionally draining for me.

HOW I RUN MY BLOG

Speed:          i can be..... SO SLOW when replying to threads. it honestly just depends on my mental health for the day and if i feel capable enough to write. i can easily range from “i will reply to this thread Immediately” to “the bubonic plague has overtaken my physical form and its gonna take me a few weeks to get to it”. same goes for asks as well, but im always active on discord if u want to yell @ me

Replies:       my replies usually stay in my drafts; as soon as i get to see ur reply to our thread, i save it to my drafts to make sure i dont lose it. i post them as soon as theyre ready and i dont rlly utilize my queue for things reply-wise-- mostly just for aesthetics, art, promos, etc. they can get.. way too lengthy tbh and i always tag my threads as “long thread //” as soon as the writing starts to exceed the length of the web browser. i cant really HELP IT, i just have a tendency to write a lot abt the thoughts of my muse . i apologize if this comes off as prose;  i try my hardest not to go into that territory and to make sure my replies are as coherent as possible

Starters:      as for starter calls, i can get super sidetracked, especially when i have 5+ people liking them and expecting from me, and i know that i say “ough this could range from a sentence to a paragraph” but i know DAMN well im gonna be writing a paragraph for every person because one liners just feel so..... dry to me??  even with this making starters arent really my strongest suit

if 2016 was the year of change and 2017 was the year of getting used to things.............. 2018 felt like............ the year of getting TOO used to things, of not ENOUGH change............. like alright i scratched a few of the bigger things on my yearly “to do” list/resolutions, i. e. finally going back to school and getting a job at the library, but like.......... i definitly dont feel like i did enough........... my art game was SO WEAK and i feel like i wrote less than 10,000 words ALL YEAR (not counting my academic papers) i didnt really CREATE anything this i dont have ANYTHING significant to show for this year............and to get more negative i didnt even make any friends all year NONE FRIENDS im only *just* starting to get more friendly with people at the library thank GOD theyre nice and gave my shy ass a chance to open up but i still dont feel like ill make FRIEND friends theyre just work friends and u kno what thats making me so pissed bc its tricking my dumb ass into thinking i have a crush on someone at work aND that i want a *romantic* relationship with them!!! OUTRAGEOUS im so peeved.......................... i also still havent gotten behind a wheel but at this point im not sure if i will anytime soon bc im That Way..... grrrr im just mad thinking of all the things i didnt do so motherfucker i will make 2019 the year of DOING!!!! and i had so many resolutions last year i feel like the more i had the less i felt like i had to do them, like i was just saying all that to be like “oh wouldnt it be nice if any of these things happened lmao” so yeah 2019: the year of DOING... and since ive kinda sorta figured out that writing is my thang.... i think i wanna focus on doing that.. and anything that will help me do it

im not even gonna put draw/art blog related stuff on here bc........ its not what i want........ like i love drawing and i dont think im terrible at it, im at a good place with it but i dont wanna put my energy this year into drawing stuff for the sake of me being able to say “i did it” like...... last yr and the yr b4 i rlly RLLY wanted to get better at art to idk prove that i could?? but like i havent picked up my drawing tablet in months ... that makes me really sad but i dont really feel like picking it up either? ? i said i wanted to take a painting/color theory/ life drawing class maybe i will this yr and it’ll reinvigorate my love of drawing........ tbh spiderverse got me *this close* to being pumped about art and animation and like yeah i still am, i love the medium and its still a dream of mine to be apart of it but it feels like a pipe dream if i try to go thru the art angle........ so many people r better than me at that and its not really what i wanna do,,, i wanna CREATE STORIES and worlds and characters and like i used my art to help *me* develop those but... i dont wanna use my art to do it for someone else i guess............. the art of animation itself still facsinates me so they door isnt close yet but,,, i wanna focus on the other aspect of myself that im more and at the same time LESS confident about lmao WRITING like alright,,, i think im a good writer .... sorta ? like yeah people tell me i am and sometimes when i look back on things ive written im like “dAMN i wrote this ???” but like,,,, there are some things to writing that still. escape me... like poetry.... and a lot of other aspects to it that i cant describe write now bc it would take too long and im getting cold and tired SO YEAH hopefully this english class will help me, even tho its just writting for college essays, i need to start somewhere and if shes rlly as good of a professor as rate my professor says then ill learn smthg new

well the year wasnt ALL bad, like i said i got the job at the library i wanted and FINALLY got to go to school, stressful as that mightve been........ and i got to see my love, my darling, the light of my life rhys again for one glorious week,, hopefully ill be able to see more of my friends this year? either in miami or milwuakee idc which MAYBE BOTH lmao im not that rich but hey i can dream,,,
