okay but like, as much as I am a fervent proponent of “not every ship should get married and in fact some of them would Never” - especially in context of enemies-to-lovers - I hope that everyone who sees me posting like that knows I am not talking about Spuffy. in fact, I would go so far as to say they are the two characters most willing and even desperate to get married that I’ve ever seen.

one of Buffy’s most persistent struggles is her right to girlhood and the inevitable expiration date she faces as the Slayer. she’s forced to fight and claw for every possible milestone that other girls around her take for granted - trying out for the cheer squad, running for prom queen, going to college, etc. one of the nightmares she has after killing Angel is about being unable to be a bride and get married. in Something Blue, she throws herself into wedding planning with a passion that speaks to her having daydreamed about it. in most cases, her commitment issues veer toward clinging rather than avoidance, and marriage is absolutely one of those beautiful, unreachable things that were ripped away from her when the Powers chose her. it haunts her.

Spike is probably even more obvious - he’s a man from Victorian England, a society that held marriage on a pedestal. furthermore, he is fundamentally a creature of devotion, never straying from Drusilla for over a century, and then from Buffy even after she was dead. their desperation is also quite similar - Spike’s original community had considered him undesirable, barring him from a love match; and while a union may have been arranged for him as a human, his vampirism took that option away entirely, in the same way that Buffy’s becoming did it. during Something Blue, he is just as committed to planning the minutiae of the wedding as Buffy is, even though they could’ve just decided to do it at the courthouse and get it over with under a shoehorned pretext. he’s been dreaming of a wedding for 150 years, let’s be real

Spuffy would’ve gone insane about a wedding. they would’ve fallen in love worse. they would have threatened each other with divorce constantly but stayed married anyway for however long they lived. hell, they should’ve done it just for the CPS reasons in season 6, just imagine having to hide it from everyone except the government, lest Anya thinks they’re trying to steal her thunder

crying over a nonexistent josh and sam wedding where hannah is the maid of honor and beth is a groomsman.

hannah is laser focused on giving her best friend and brother the most beautiful memorable wedding possible. hannah and josh had to reassure sam not to think too hard about the money (lucky them), sam only let them increase the budget a bit. jokes on her though, the washington family showered her with wedding presents, they just love spoiling her.

hannah, sam and josh work together with the planning, hannah and josh do go a little crazy though. hannah sometimes gets swept up in too many absurd romantic ideas. sam gently turns down the ideas and thinks of a more practical idea that is within her and josh's interest.

when josh starts to troll, sam gives him a death glare of a thousand suns. now he's scared to joke around during wedding planning time. he often just sits cozied up to her, thinks thrice before speaking and offers only the best of ideas. sam always gets the final say. one of her musts that she would splurge on is a live painter.

beth fiercely competes with chris to be the best man. Josh refuses to choose between them and sits back and enjoys watching them one up each other. they went really overboard with his bachelor party, it was a very confusing amalgamation of a scavenger hunt and getting as drunk as possible. josh asks chris and beth to emcee during the reception, they accept gracefully.

josh is in charge of finding the best photographer and a skilled videographer who makes same day video edits, highlighting their time getting ready and the wedding itself, shown during the reception.

josh and sam did a cute pre-wedding video of them around the city going on dates and being in love. sam, at first, didn't even want to do it. she was super nervous, and she feels really awkward in front of cameras. But after a heartfelt confession from josh explaining how he wants to memorialize this chapter of his life and capture that feeling. he's never felt happier, everyday he wakes up with a huge grin on his face, feeling grateful he's marrying the love of his life, that this is the start of the rest of his life. even if he has shown her time and time again what a romantic sap he is, sam is still blown away by this side of josh, and this conversation holds a special place in her heart. during the shoot, he's encouraging and comforting and sam feels safe in his arms and looking into his eyes, forgetting there's a camera even there.

Washington sibs hcs n thoughts n stuff

They're actually triplets, Josh being born on the 31st of January and Han and Beth being on the 5th of February.

They were all born in 1995.

They're all fraternal.

Josh and Han are both trans.

Hannah and Beth are both 5'8 (as it says on their missing posters) and Josh is 5'7 (based of the actor's height).

Both Hannah and Beth are shown to be decently sporty, and both joined school clubs for tennis and football n stuff. Josh is also decently active but didn't care to actually join any teams or anything.

Beth is the youngest but she often was the one who looked out for the other two in school. Moreso Hannah than Josh.

Hannah met Sam in 3rd grade not too long after Josh met Chris, and Beth met Jess and Em in 5th.

Hannah met Sam in her gym class when they were put in the same team for dodgeball.

Beth met Jess and Em because she sat close to them and Jess talks to everyone.

Beth likes hockey as well.

Beth plays lots of instruments, mostly guitar though.

In 1st to 3rd grade, before they really made close friends, the three of them just kind of stuck with eachother as much as possible, though Beth was really quite popular because she was the most outgoing.

Hannah always liked collecting stuff like feathers, rocks and bones. Josh and her would often go out looking around for those types of things, especially up on Blackwood.

Around the time of the prologue, Hannah is quite lean in figure, tall and strong. Beth is tall but slumps a lot more and is a bit stockier, but also strong. Josh is pretty similar to Beth.

Hannah loves bugs, Beth is neutral to them and Josh hates them.

Hannah has a pet spider (Josh hates it).

Up at the lodge they enjoy doing general maintenance work like chopping firewood.

They can all shoot (Bob taught them all at the firing range) but only Josh actually found any sort of enjoyment from it.

Beth's full name is Bethany (I was torn between that and Elizabeth for ages but then I leaned Bethany means 'house of suffering' and I think that fits with the game better, so).

As kids they were all scared of the lodge at night because it is haunted asf.

Josh once saw one of the monsters when he was a small child and he still vaguely remembers it but puts it up to childhood imagination.

Beth had lots of weird experiences in the lodge (hearing the whispers n stuff) that she never told anyone because she didn't want to freak her siblings out.

Beth has gotten into trouble for fighting at school because of people being mean to Hannah, very quickly everyone learned not to be mean to her.

Hannah was actually quite well liked in her sports teams and stuff.

Josh and Chris met Ashley in 6th grade when she moved to California.

Her and Sam brought Matt into the friend group in highschool (9th grade, I think that is).

Beth, Jess and Em brought Mike into the group in 10th grade, again they met him because Jess is friendly and chatty with most people.

They have a few cousins that would visit in the summer, or vice versa. They're a little younger but they get on fine.

They all learn to drive but Josh is usually the one designated to do so.

They have gone on roadtrips with just the 3 of them, usually to the middle of nowhere and Josh will try to creep them out when they're visiting forests and stuff.

They have definitely explored old abandoned buildings together.

Josh always packs extra stuff (clothes, food etc) because Hannah and Beth are both likely to forget something.

Both Hannah and Josh are very artsy people, and they can draw really well. Beth isn't as interested in that.

On a lighter note my head cannon is that Hannah shipped climbingclass before she even knew what shipping was….bless her little nerd heart she was determined to get them together. Beth shipped it as well and both were constantly frustrated by Joshs attempts to get Chris a girlfriend. Like NO Josh that blond nerd is going to be a Washington and your husband. Like if the prank hadn’t happened she or beth were gonna lock them in a closet or take them to Vegas and get them REALLY drunk and get them married

based on what little we know about hannah, i think it's fair to make her a softie/romantic. i'm totally into making her, like, very invested in her sibs' happiness and that includes being a huge cheerleader in their romantic lives. also love the idea of josh being like "nobody can know i have these feelings. or feelings at all" but hannah clocks his gay ass SO fast. she's immediately like "you like chris don't you josh" <- said like "you like krabby patties don't you squidward." evil little smile and everything.

we all just making shit up abt beth and i for one love to make her zesty and kinda hard-edged. not actually mean, but like, if chris had to rank the washingtons from most to least frightening, beth would be at the top of the list. maybe he'll stop being lowkey scared of her when he's like. forty.

re: vegas, i would love a humor fic where josh + chris are absolutely shitfaced in vegas and get married bc they think its really funny, and the next day all their friends are like do we seriously have to explain to you that getting married "as a bit" doesn't make it less legally binding. you fucking idiots. even funnier to me if they are, in fact, in a relationship. and they don't bother to divorce bc that's too much work but they keep having to explain to everyone they meet that yes the relationship is real but the marriage is a joke. no one gets it.

It feels like an overreaction to burst into tears over, essentially, "Go for it," but makes sense when you realize no one takes her seriously.

Her father, Tetora, and even Yona view her as someone in need of protection. They coddle her.

And then here comes Soo-Won, telling her she's capable of making a difference.

That she did make a difference. He acknowledges her strength and believes in her with ease while people closer to her struggle to accept that she's useful.

The heat of the pool house (not to mention the heavy reek of chlorine) wasn't exactly doing her already-frayed patience any favors; Laura pressed her fingers to her temple briefly then groaned, "If you'd been listening to my story, you'd know I didn't have any choice!" while throwing her arms out to her sides. It didn't exactly help exorcise any of the agitation she was feeling - much less the clock ticking away in her head, counting down the seconds until she missed her chance to kill Chris Hackett and stop this insanity for good - but moving still felt better than just standing there, recounting every horrible second she and Max had suffered under Travis's watch, and...

Chris (Hartley, that was, thank God), raised his own hands then, shaking them and his head as if he couldn't decide which would piss her off less. "Hey, whoa, slow your roll, I wasn't judging your act of wanton violence! Holy cow, no way - my girlfriend's a big fan of stabbing, like, with anything she can get her hands on, really - so I wasn't saying like, 'Augh, oh my God, how could you do that?!,' it was more like 'Wow, how interesting, please tell me more!'" he explained, and no part of that helped her feel...any better about what was going on, but if nothing else, it was a relief that she wasn't the only one getting weird looks from the others now.
