I've never considered just seeing model renders of a game character would make me want to play the game, but here we are 😶🌫️
Aww, you're welcome! I would definitely recommend you to play Sherlock Holmes Chapter One. It's fun and dramatic, entertaining, heartbreaking and gay ;D
#It also contains two very Ukrainian looking men#I swear I saw Sherlock working as a cashier in Aurora#Also Jon looks very much like my familiar plumber I pray on every time something's breaking in my house#So if you find Sherlock and Jon hot then...#Congratulations! You're in love with Ukrainian men!#But since russia started the full scale invasion against us we're losing such beauty everyday#So I do ask you to buy this game#And support Ukrainian game developers#God knows we need all support we can get#Now even more than ever#Since you know...#We're also protecting ourselves from North Korea#frogwares sherlock holmes#frogwares sherlock#sherlock fanart#frogwares holmes#frogwares sherlock holmes chapter one#sherlock holmes chapter one

I understand it sounds really cool to write stuff like "they'd rather choose a fascist than a black woman," but americans should realize they need to build strategies and for them to be successful they need to understand their enemies profoundly. That means instead of saying stuff like "every trump voter is a fascist," you need to have enough curiosity to investigate WHY exactly people voted for him instead of just assuming, and then build stretegies to win them over based on that
If you say it's a cult, then go study cults and learn how to get people out of there. You haven't lost until you stopped to fight
#i won't lie. 'vote for kamala even if she sucks' is lukewarm kind of campaign compared to trump and his supporters#you people do not know how to rally for your canditate at all#you can't recruit shit#like how do you say every trump supporter is racist and then latino and black people vote for him#all of them are idiots but they are idiots with voting power#tbh ukrainian elections are very different we needed to vote out pro russian candidates all the time and now look. look at that#imagine if yanukovych had a second term yeaaaah i do not pity you guys#tbh we had kuchma but i was too young to remember

does. anyone else experience the language learning pipeline of like
yeah why not seems kinda fun -> (optional step) the writing system is crazy bro -> damn theres no WAY im gonna remember any of this shit -> genuine interest and fascination with the differences between languages and needing to Know more
and its because of the stupidest reason for starting learning it in the first place
#me personally i only started french because i didnt want to do spanish or german#and we had to take a language#now look at me. ap student gonna take the exam in less than two months#did one course for asl because i needed to fill a credit and it seemed easy enough to do online#and i was so interested by deaf culture and i was having sm fun with learning signs#but i never continued it for?? some reason??#i didnt take japanese any further than hiragana and some katakana but it was fun learning the writing system#not that i remember more than maybe 30% of it#and now im trying to learn ukrainian on duolingo and other outside sources#partially just bc i was curious#but now im like. very entranced by it#i have a google doc vocab list and everything#its very fun for me :) even if i dont use it in everyday life and if i drop it after a week#its also so fun to speak#I NEED TO. SHUTUP omfg#tldr languages are sk cool.. to Me.. i should take a linguistics class sometime…

prev reblog about the hypocrisy in the difference in coverage between Ukraine and the most recent atrocities in Palestine is so fucking true. it boils my blood how most people in my classes were in support or could easily be pushed to be in support of Ukraine and how [relatively] easy it was to tear down russian talking points- yet i hear zionist talking points so often.
i had a guy sit down next to me last week and talk about how hes upset at the decrease in support for Ukraine- i haven't heard him say anything about Palestine since a month or two ago i screamed in his face for repeating Zionist talking points about 'self defense' and refusing to listen to me and have empathy for the Palestinian people.
repeating some quotes the same Guardian article used to make its point that are very true of the mindset i see people holding:
“It’s very emotional for me because I see European people with blue eyes and blond hair … being killed every day.”
“Now the unthinkable has happened to them. And this is not a developing, third world nation. This is Europe!”
“They seem so like us. That is what makes it so shocking. Ukraine is a European country. Its people watch Netflix and have Instagram accounts, vote in free elections and read uncensored newspapers. War is no longer something visited upon impoverished and remote populations.”
these people only cared about Ukraine because it hit to close to home, ruined the idea that they were safe from war. these people are not speaking up about Palestine. these people make me sick.
#thebirdspeaks#palestine#i had so much sympathy for having Ukrainian family#people were supporting them and applauding the Ukrainian resistance#now they parrot zionist talking points just like the people they laughed at for repeating russian ones#i could get people to shut up and change their mind by tearfully recounting stories of my elderly great aunt trapped in a warzone with only#a phone line and Ukrainian red cross food packages between her and starvation#now it doesn't matter how many stories i retell about Palestine#bc it doesn't aline with the political interests of the imperial core#so they dont fucking listen or sympathize#dont humanize#fucking hypocrites#i dont value their sympathies or support for Ukraine anymore#and wont unless they support Palestinian liberation as much as they did/do Ukrainian

Ah yes, Magnificent Century, or as I like to call it – “Why the fuck are the most likely Ukrainian girl and the Crimean Tatar woman speaking Russian to each other, what were the writers smoking???”
#BEFORE ANYBODY COMES AT ME#DO NOT use this post to debate hürrem’s nationality. please#most people agree she was from an area which is modern day ukraine. can we please leave it at that#also yes they were speaking Russian in that scene. not Ukrainian like I’ve seen some people say#trust me I know and can tell the difference between the two. it’s Russian#okay? okay#now that that’s out of the way#what is this. the 1500s or the Soviet Union??#for the record at this point in the show timeline there’s still another 32 years until Ivan the terrible conquers Kazan#a.k.a the Tatar capital#and ukraine was not a part of Russia at that point either#though I cannot tell you exactly who it belonged to bc I erased most of what I learned in history after my exam#but the point is#there is a very. very small chance that both of the would have known Russian#especially fluently#I feel like I’m swinging at a wasp’s nest by making this post so again#please don’t start any discourse#I am just trying to make a joke about the Taylan brothers failing both history and geography#alright?#okay good#Nia rewatches MC#magnificent century#muhteşem yüzyıl#hürrem sultan#valide sultan

#given we're ukrainian and it was about ukrainians in solidarity with palestinians. im hoping it will sway them to like do something#most ive seen recently was them talking abt the local elections. which is great and all#but when my generation has been sitting here watching the world fall apart largely powerless and has been coming out to the polls#as weve aged into voting just to watch shit get worse. well it sure is tiring that their only answer is to keep voting!!!!!#yes ok will do. now in the meantime#abby talks

Okay, I get being mad at the Eurovision results, but I personally draw the line at two things:
Personal attacks towards Loreen's character, appearance, etc., not to even mention misogynistic, transphobic, and racist slurs.
Dragging Sweden's colonization of Finland into it. Because while what is now modern-day Finland was gradually and sporadically under Swedish rule from roughly 1266 to 1809, and there were obviously some skirmishes related to the crusades and colonies, and your typical oppression of peasants here and there... we, by every possible European/international standard, have been fucking lucky. We've been largely left to our own devices: no serfdom, no violent and systematic erasure of language and culture, no unfair treatment compared to the rest of the population (generally speaking, of course). Hell, even the Russians treated us much better than many of the other peoples under imperial rule, even granting us autonomy. But my point is: I'm not trying to tell anyone how to feel about Finland's history with Sweden or what could have been if they hadn't colonized us (hint: it would have been Novgorod and/or the Germans instead), but I feel dragging something that happened centuries ago into it as if it’s relevant especially when Israel, who might well have won instead, is violently colonizing and oppressing Palestine as we speak is... kinda crass. So, in that respect, I say: get the fuck over yourselves, Finns. We are not special.
#not tagging this because I don't have energy for discourse#but I had to say something#like hell#I just got back from Latvia and learned more about their history with the German colonization#which was much more of a textbook colonization under the guise of a 'crusade'#oh and the Baltics were under Swedish rule too for some time#do you see them throwing tantrums at Sweden for that right now?#again#we are not special#or if we are it's because we've been hella lucky#like if we're going to be mad at historical colonizations#even Ukrainians could be mad at Sweden because Rurik was in all likelihood a Swede#Finns have such a massive main character syndrome sometimes and it's exhausting

you are a fucking ignorant pussy whore. try living in ukraine and seeing the country you live in get fucking shelled on the fucking daily and seeing people (including literal fucking children) get murdered, raped, and traumatized and maybe you'll end up hating those slutty slutty ruskies as well. try talking to a ukrainian and 9 times out of 10 they will tell you that they hate ALL russians, not just the "ouuhhh nooo bad" ones. grow a fucking spine. you pussy
i just reblogged a post on how russia is criminalizing everything lgbtq and this is the kind of ask i receive
btw you said the words "whore" once (1), "pussy" twice (2), and "slutty" twice (2), meaning you used five (5) sexually charged words in total. thats more than the amount of times you said "the" (3 times)!!
#i dont hate russian people actually just because of what the russian government and military are doing <3 i dont give a shit what#the average ukrainian believes. people are stupid and are prone to making generalizations and such#the average russian is wholly not responsible for anything the russian government does. they are not to blame and should not be punished.#if russians were punished that would be a warcrime. y'know. like the things russia is doing right now in ukraine. c'mon dude#ask answer#post

like it when people say things like "Wow, you have a nice writing style" or "what an interesting style". I mean, I'm INCREDIBLY flattered, but it's so fun and unusual mostly because...
It's a translation. Which means that Ukrainian is actually very suitable for literary writing: I love playing with the number of synonyms, or words whose cognates are based solely on the situation, or long, convoluted sentences that can be put on a page without repetition or connecting words. In English, of course, you can do most of these things too, but it usually tends to be simplified to be understood by everyone, which is incredible, which is why it's an international language.
But because of these not-so-unique features of English, a text translated from Ukrainian may sound unusually interesting to a native speaker.
No, I have my own style, of course (at least I hope so), but it's always so interesting to see how the text changes after translation and when I edit it, because don't think that I just copy and paste it through a translator. I always check how accurately the text is translated, because my level of English is more than enough to do that.
A rather interesting example: I was looking for synonyms for "I mean" in English, and after trying at least three synonyms in Ukrainian, it still remained "I mean" in translation.
And also, if I write something for you on writing prompts, it will most likely be a translation, so I think this is a pretty interesting detail of my writing to talk about a little bit more.
#bartimaeus#It doesn't really fit this tag but I want to put it here anyway because all I've been writing lately is Bartimaeus.#I also just want to make as much content here as I can.#Fun fact: technically#if I wanted to spend at least half an hour of my time picking my brain#I could write posts here without translation#But my thoughts and the way I write them are quite complex and difficult#so for now I'm doing it this way.#I hope that one day my English level will be such that it won't matter to me#But so far it is not(#And don't think that I don't like English. I love it very much. And I'm learning it even now ahaha#(But I still like Ukrainian better#because it's my native language#and writing in it is just something incredible

As always, if you wonder why I don't talk about certain current events but do others, a lot of it comes down to whether I think it's something that other people are talking about a lot
If it's something where I figure you're going to be well informed and need a break, I tend to keep it to a minimum on here cause you already know
If it's something I rarely see talked about, then I'm more likely to mention it
World's bad, we're all doing what we can, I know people have said to me before they appreciate me more keeping to cats and frogs and random stuff, so I mostly try to do that, but... in the end I just kinda share whatever my brain decides to share
Want to give my thought process though
#and in this case it's a matter of that Syria really does feel forgotten and I won't deny I often forget too#but with the stuff that's going on right now I really prefer to when I can be reblogging stuff that has something at least a bit actionable#stuff that says where you can donate to give aid via reputable sources... that's what I like to try and focus on#but yeah... man; only place I really ever tend to see Syria mentioned is in Ukrainian circles#so that's why I wanted to highlight that one#man I wish I could do more in the world#so many people suffering and... and... well; and I can't do shit about it and that sucks#just keep trying to slowly get things together around here; and trying to slowly be able to help more and more people#and just hope that if you help people; it'll make them want to help people like they were helped#and maybe if enough of us get stable ground under our feet and know how it was to be helped... maybe some day we can collectively help enou#...try to avoid making things feel hopeless with my posts; cause things certainly feel hopeless#so I try to... try to focus on the good and what can be done to fix things as much as possible#want to keep people in the fight to try and make things better; not drain them by posting nothing but the bleakness of the world#things will never be right; those who've died can't be saved and we've failed them forever#which is all the more reason we can't give up and have to keep trying to make things better#because if we can never make things right; then the least we can do is try and make things better in the future#to at least stop adding to the list of people we'll never be able to fix things for#...something like that#it's bleak and I'm depressive anyway; but show must go on; you know?#so that's my thoughts here#I just feel the need to explain it sometimes; because people have a way of making assumptions#that if you don't talk about something you don't care#no... that's not it; I care; I just don't want to burn people out#and you can say they shouldn't burn out but I try to deal in practicalities and descriptivism; and people can be burned out#rather keep them in the fight to make the world better#so if there's a situation... like the George Floyd protests; that was another one where I didn't post much on it#cause we all knew... we all were paying attention and... I just figured people needed space#...I'm sad... sad more police reforms and accountability couldn't get pushed though but... at least we got something#...and I'm not gonna act like I'm some front line fighter when it comes to justice#I barely can deal with my own shit; I'm not saying I'm worth a damn thing in any cause
