the amount of places he's been, the experience and knowledge, his general personality that makes travelling together fun

he manages to get discounts at a bunch of the places you visit whether it be because he's so charming or he helped the shop owner the last time he was there

learns simple phrases in the local language and teaches you

checks in with you to see if you're tired or you need water/food

has been building a list of places he'd love to take you for years and every time he gets to cross one off he gets excited

likes to leave little trinkets or notes at places to show you were there together

sometimes he'll just walk around places with no goal or map to see what happens . holds your hand so you don't get separated

generally doesn't have a schedule unless he has specific things he wants to do with you. and also because he doesn't know what kind of trouble or scheme you may end up in (again)

that ranges from daring him to walk in a fountain to another heist

will walk off the path or take you through some alley to find a hidden spot that he knows about from word of mouth or his own exploring. they'll always be really cool and/or pretty

always keeps you in mind while picking places to go so he can surprise you and watch you smile :[

he knows all of the little local shops around so you can be together with some peace and quiet

if you fall asleep during the trip he'll stay quiet and glance over at you while smiling, making sure nothing disturbs you

he tries out any local cuisines and goes to any events/festivals happening while you're there

asks the workers about a dish you like so he can try making it himself when you get back

not only while travelling but he's the type of person to see street performers and pull you to dance. i am so sad

he offers a massage when you get back to where you're staying

always manages to find the best rooms with your budget??

won't let you sleep on the floor. at least not alone. so he's either bringing you into bed with him or placing blankets and pillows on the ground next to you

has your favourite snacks and drinks on hand

will watch something new with you but also has all of your favourites collected to rewatch together. does little ratings

stays up as long as you do. will probably start trying to drag you to bed when you're both getting that #latenightloopy vibe or when he sees you getting sleepy

the world is your oyster! playing games, singing karaoke, cooking, building a pillow fort, doing skincare,, anything and everything is possible. whatever makes you happiest

faust is very obviously also taking part in all of this. moves your game pieces around, hanging from asra's neck as you sing, pushing ingredients your way,, she's just a gal!

doing skincare with asra and telling him to stop moving because you're trying to apply a face mask but he can't help but look and smile at you :'/

laying in bed going to sleep and he kisses you goodnight before pulling you closer :'(

makes sure you have breakfast before you need to leave the next day (unless you want to stay . he's also totally okay with that. jsyk. btw.)

ive been rewatching gurren lagann lately. in some ways (“refuse to ever give into the despair of overwhelming oppression, overcome all obstacles, and create a peaceful future for people!!!”) its aged real well. in others, not so much. spoilers under the cut for a show over 10 years old now. 

i feel like theres not much point in even talking about this, since saying gurren lagann has issues with women would be like saying water is wet, but even so. i just started watching the movies and im pissed all over again that this little moment was left in:

it bothered me in episode 1 and it bothers me here too. this whole bit makes no sense, and not in the usual cool “screw logic” way gurren lagan does stuff. 

their entire society revolves around digging. they live underground and can only expand their their village through drilling more tunnels. they live in constant fear of cave ins, which makes digging to create more space even more essential. plus, the later time scale with the spiral king implies they’ve been living like this for 1000 years. this has been the norm for countless generations. 

so. in a society like that, the person who is really good at digging would be a hero. he’d be loved by everyone and extremely popular, just because he can do this one vital job so well. and in fact, we DO see that simon is valued by the chief and given exceptions that kamina doesn’t get. because his digging abilities are valuable. so who the hell are these random chicks joking about how digging is gross and talking shit about simon for doing it? they’ve been living like this for centuries. they were born into a digging culture. they should think being covered in dirt is the norm. they talk like mean girls in a highschool. these girls make no sense with the setting. 

its really transparent that the writers A) just didn’t think about the worldbuilding like this and just threw in some girls with our worlds beauty standards and B) just wanted to manufacture some forced idea that simon is pitiful and disliked by the ladies. You (presumably straight cis male) audience members can relate to not being popular with women right? 

identify with simon and go to town. 

idk. its just this weird little forced moment. its not as bad or major as nia barely being in the final arc and then getting fridged, or yoko’s development revolving around kids and romance, but it bothers me. it feels very strawman-ish. the male writers create some girls who don’t make sense to mock the mc in a way that they hope all the men in their audience will relate to and tell simon not to care about what those b****** think. i guess its this when combined with how the show treats nia and yoko that really pisses me off.

Personally I feel like a lot of things about me and what kind of stuff I enjoy in media (either created by myself/my partner in crime or otherwise) start making sense when you think about how in the very first scene she appears in, my mom's blorbo, and thus a very formative part of my childhood, is actively screaming, cursing people out, spitting in their faces and looking like this:
