Frankly the way they've treated Chris this season is fucking ableist as shit. Like using a disabled character as a literal prop and in the process infantalizing him even though in the past couple seasons he's been able to grow wayyy beyond just being the cute kid is really shitty. Does he have any feelings or thoughts of his own? Did he actually choose to go to El paso or give a single shit about moving back to LA? Guess we'll never know. He's not a little kid anymore yet theyre writing him with far less agency than they did when he was 7 years old and pretty much there just to be cute. I think this is a problem with the show recently in general is at the beginning they were really committed to telling a diverse story with lots of different types of characters and directly pointed it out but pretty much once they brought Gerrard back (and tbh tommy) they kinda forgot that and seem to want to be a "post racial" type story where none of the characters identities matter (i think Ortiz is a really good and nasty example) but they mattered quite a lot in the past so now when they shaft these storylines, well it feels pretty fucking gross. Like how am I not supposed to think making a whole storyline where a black lesbian couple's child is taken away by an evil Latina and the saving grace is a racist old white guy is racist? It makes me feel pretty bad for the cast too because most of them share these identities with the characters. Gavin is a visibly disabled person. All the characters of color are written with respect to the actors actual background. Like to a specific degree where it's not just generally "Asian guy" or "Latino guy" but Chim is actually Korean-American specifically like Kenny and Eddie is actually half Mexican like Ryan and they've spoken about how meaningful these characters are so it feels pretty insidious for this white (presumably able bodied) showrunner to fuck them over so much. Especially with how he's jerked around Ryan making him not know if he actually has a job. Like it's just overall shitty and I think has lost some of the earnestness in it's pointed attempt at diversity and inclusion which...yeah feels especially bad right now. Bi buck was sort of the last beacon of hope and who knows how they'll handle that going forward considering he hasn't even been allowed to call himself bi yet and that whole fucking glee speech like yikes.

it's a bridgerton au specific 2 my narilamb(ovidia/narinder) where the bishops would be the closest to the bridgerton family equivalent and Shamura being the head of family trying to help their siblings find courtship so they will be set but narinder would be the most difficult of them all because hes stubborn and convinced that being married would make him miserable and every season hes had several interested suitors but hes rejected them all until he comes across ovidia, now considered a spinster after several unsuccessful seasons because all their previous suitors found them too high maintenance and itd be no different with narinder but itd be similar to bridgertons kate/anthony situation and they're so into eachother it makes them look fucking stupid!!!!

ALRIGHT now to get more into it, as far as family and dynamics go, obviously with Shamura being the head of the family they very meticulously keep things in order and its why their considered one of the most affluent families and they've very easily found partnership because it was probably more business than anything but it works for them, and when time came for kallamar to start looking it was smooth because of how enthused he was, and it was really obvious with him how many wanted in

the way i see it, nothing is strictly monogamous, but it's seen as "lower class" to have too many spouses because the merging of so many families is probably seen as greedy, desperate, something something for one reason or another-- that said, kallamar definitely has multiples, and if not for being such a prestigious family and shamuras own reputation, it couldve been worse so they got a freebie there

but with narinder, having seen the way his brother is with his spouses vs the way shamura is with theirs, hes seen an instance of a loveless business deal in one, and complete obsession to the point of disregarding everything else that hes so fucking disinterested in courtships especially in the way its been presented to him

hed be able to hold off shamura long enough to get away with putting off courting anyone, a lot of it having to be about "focusing on his studies and career" and while hes had PLENTY of potential suitors come knocking but he's always turned them away but when time comes for heket to debut its when the pressure is really on for narinder

THEN on the flipside there ovidia who has been insistent on taking on every role in their family, the head of which is the oldest matriarch who has yet to decide on who the next head will be and they have TRIED to court people but every potential suitor has just not lived up to the impossible standards theyve set but even WHEN theyre about to settle- something goes wrong and the courtship sinks and its always on the others terms

their family is large, but theyre only wealthy in the sense that such a large family that sticks together can hardly fail when everyone does their part. that alone make their name well known even if its unconventional

its at the start of the latest season that they try again where they first meet narinder and while everything almost seems perfect, the chemistry is almost instant but then they get a little too candid and ovidia talks too much about their situation and it triggers the part of narinders brain that fears becoming like shamuras marriage and a scathing remark both stuns and pisses off ovidia

one second everything is amazing, they seem to be on the same wave length, strong goals the other respects, even finding an initial attraction in the other but then he opens his mouth and theyve had it

they blow up at him and suddenly everything he does pisses them off and they'll start nitpicking everything about him and be right and their observations piss him off and then he starts going off on them along the lines of "i can see now why each season passes you by" to which ovidia is ready with a "as though your own haven't? one is left wonder if studying is why you've put off finding a spouse, or if that mouth of yours is to blame"

it self destructs right then and there and while they have no intention to cross paths again, of course they do

and it becomes some kind of pissing contest to find a spouse before the other does just to prove a point to the other than they CAN in fact find one and they both end up sabotaging each other unintentionally bc theyre still so into each other and in the short time they've gotten to know the other and even through the bickering it becomes apparent theyve put effort to remember things

its stupid, its messy, its what it is and im still thinking about it more.............

at first noob was very, very confused by your behavior. they mistook your mercy for a cruel trick to try and hurt them— but when they saw your passiveness around the other survivors, even when they tried provoking you? they started to grow… curious, rather than scared. it took a lot of time and effort to actually get to where you’re at now

considering all of the bloxy colas you’ve helped noob find, even medkits and other useful supplies, it’s no surprise that some of the other killers are starting to get annoyed by your favoritism for noob… but you just can’t help it, the spectre hasn’t COMPLETELY taken away all your humanity just yet. plus, you finally got to see them smile for once,, which was a strangely warming feeling.

most of the other survivors are… reasonably pretty terrified of you without noob there to pacify you, and that’s because of your less-than-gentle reputation,, but all you wanted to do was see your adorable favorite survivor!!! the others didn’t matter nearly as much, so why should you force yourself to treat them similarly?? though noob does get a little uneasy hearing the whispers around the campfire about the things you’ve done… it’s honestly a littleee hard for them to believe any of it. you just seem so different when they’re around. almost like you were just another survivor.

okay!!! so!! this one’s a little more complicated. builderman was never really scared of you, if anything he was more so intrigued. you weren’t like the others, ruthlessly aggressive and unrelenting. you were calm,, and almost… polite? and that just weirded him out a lot. his big question was simply, why? why not chase the innocent down, guard the generators, or even flinch when you’re stabbed. twice!! you didn’t fight back at all- he was skeptical. but builderman wasn’t afraid to come up and ask. still a little cautious, you know, just in case

your straightforwardness is what slowly made him start to trust you. maybe it was a mistake. maybe it was just a flicker of misplaced hope. because if you were so kind to him, and never laid a finger on the others, maybe… maybe he could save everyone. maybe they could all make it out. but when the others started whispering, warning builderman of what you were like when he wasn’t looking, how your disinterest shifted into a thirst for blood, he just couldn’t believe it. it didn’t make sense. and that was when it got dangerous. because he cared too much. far too much.

it put builderman in a very tough spot. he wanted to save everyone but you were such an anomaly. he knew you had nothing to gain from being so sweet to him, giving up easy kills just to let him walk free. so why would you go savage the moment his back was turned? obviously he didn’t want to lose the other survivors’ trust, but he didn’t want to lose yours, either. and, no, those sentries builderman sets up during your matches never really work. they’re always defunct. but nobody’s really caught on yet somehow.

it was just his luck. a killer who latches onto him and becomes totally passive whenever he’s around… honestly? chance finds that amusing. maybe even a little flattering, considering how strong you are. but that didn’t mean he was totally comfortable, definelty not at first,, you were still on the other side. and that was a problem… then again, how much harm could a little chat with the weirdly friendly (and kinda cute) killer really do?

okay. welllll. turns out it was going to be KIND of a problem, because now you were practically clinging to him,, and it’s not like he was just gonna tell you to back off! chance sorta fed into it, actually. little flirty comments here and there, which usually caught you off guard. chance couldn’t understand how the others still didn’t trust you. to him, you were harmless, sickeningly sweet, even. the truth of it all was entirely obscured

and even when the other survivors pulled him aside to warn him about you, chance just laughed it off. you… bloodthirsty? and brutal? no way! honestly, they were probably just jealous. chance always had the best supplies, after all, thanks to you. which sort of gave him bragging rights. you had them right where you wanted.

Okay its 130 in the morning and this is a thought ive had for a while so bear with me while I write it, but obviously everyone is familiar with Bokuto from Haikyuu and also everyone is familiar with all the owl jokes. Like Bokuto in fics is always obsessed with owls and he's obviously designed to vaguely resemble an owl and have owlish mannerisms and anyway I don't know if anyone has been pointing fingers at fics like "bleh its so annoying that ppl always make Bokuto obsessed with owls theres literally no canon material for it" and thats true to a degree. Technically we never see Bokuto say that he likes Owls the Birds in any specific way. BUT i do feel compelled to defend Owlboy Bokuto as much as possible so I am here to tell you why I think an Owl-loving Bokuto is actually the most accurate thing in my opinion

And it's really simple. The Fukurodani mascot in an Owl. Bokuto doesn't "love Owls more than other animals," and he certainly didnt in middle school. He probably had a whole host of favourite animals. Maybe he never even thought about owls. And then he joins this team and we KNOW Bokuto loves his team more than anything and I don't know about you guys but high school is weird. Thinking back on it is a mix of complete nostalgia and pure grief and anxiety. But it becomes a part of you, its like your first real identity, being in high school. But bokuto joins this team and suddenly theyre "the Owls." "Everyone give it up for the Fukurodani Owls!" And maybe there's even a guy in an Owl costume at some kind of school event. Idk. Anyway, he starts pointing them out, and gets really excited when he sees them. Because oh my god! Thats us! Isnt that funny? And the more he plays with this team the more he feels like the Owl is a part of him. Thats their mascot! Thats their bird, their animal, and maybe he used to say his favourite animal was a wolf or a tiger or whatever but now he says Owl because thats him!!! And all his friends!!!! Thats his family!!! Theyre owls!!! And so he does get really excited when he sees them. And he goes out of his way to point them out if he sees them at night and he absolutely looses his mind at a zoo when he gets to hold an Owl because he's "been" an Owl for 3 years and it feels like it belongs to him. It feels like its a part of his identity the same way being male or being tall or being an athlete is. He is an owl. And he loves owls.

And then one day he graduates and years pass and now when he sees an owl at 1am and he gets so excited and starts pointing it out to his friends, none of them get why he cares so much, but he knows. He's not seeing a cool bird, he's remembering how it felt to be 17 and walking into a championship match. He's remembering his favourite team he ever played with, he's remembering Akaashi and the old route he used to walk to school and the lunches his mom packed and the feeling he got when they appointed him captain, when they told him they trusted him to be the leader of the Owls.

And he'll try and convince his new friends of how cool owls are. He'll start spewing owl facts like a machine, about different species and how fast they can fly and what they eat and where they live and oddly he seems to be able to identify owl species super accurately and his new friends will all laugh and call him the owl-loving weirdo. They'll consider him just a guy who loves owls (the bird) a lot. And they'll make jokes about it and buy him a t-shirt with an owl on it and they just wont get it. They'll think it's just his favourite animal. And it is. But not like that.

And then when he gets home, even if it's 2am, he sends a picture of that owl he'd seen to the old Fukurodani groupchat and for some godforsaken reason Akaashi is up working on his own projects and he sends back support for the owl Bokuto saw and then every other Fukurodani alumni starts berating Akaashi for being up so late and admonishing him for not preparing better for deadlines and they get into a big argument about procrastination and what time Akaashi should be going to bed while the editor fights for his life in the chat and Bokuto isn't really commenting anymore, he's just reading the messages that flood in, and he loves it, he loves this feeling, because the truth is the chat hadn't been used in about 2 months. But they all love getting Bokuto's Owl Watch Updates, even if nobody paid attention to the picture, because for just 1 hour at 2 in the morning a handful of old high school friends are called together to be a team again despite their new and different lives.

So sure Bokuto gets branded by people who don't understand it as just being weirdly obsessed with owls, but they're good animals. He'll tell them as much. They're good birds. They should be everyone's favourite animal, he thinks. And he'll continue sending photos of owls into a 10 year old group chat, and he'll continue memorizing facts about them, and he will continue to be reminded of the absolute best people he knows every time he gets to see one. So he thinks that's worth being excited about.

So yeah, I think owls are Bokuto's favourite animal, even though there's no canon evidence to suggest it.

generally any kind of oblivious kabru takes bother me since hes like the guy who dissects social interactions/dynamics to death like i feel like in most situations generally He Has A Pretty Good Idea whats going on at least but there is one very specific instance i have floating around in my head that i would accept bc i think its funny in which kabru and mithrun are spending a lot of time together starting a bit after the ending of the manga just generally trying to build a friendship with a foundation thats not centered around making sure the other doesnt die in a dungeon but also its just really painfully clear they have feelings for each other that go deeper than that in a way thats not subtle and people are noticing it including marcille and since shes kind of romancepilled and cant mind her business (SAID WITH LOVE) she takes it upon herself to do something about that so she catches kabru when hes by himself like hey. do you want to hear some gossip. and kabru is like yes. 🙂 and marcilles like ok. so My Friend is in this situation where [proceeds to describe the exact thing kabru and mithrun are doing where theyre spending a lot of time together doing date like activities and theyre very friendly and touch each other a lot etc etc but theyre still just friends] so anyway. if YOU were in this situation what do you think youd do? should My Friend make a move or. and in kabrus head hes like ok. shes clearly talking about herself and falin but doesnt want to ask for advice directly. bc coincidentally her and falin are also in a friendship where both clearly have feelings for each other type phase at this point (only reason why this whole thing even works out btw). so kabru is like Well clearly the second party is interested. and it sounds like theyre practically already in a relationship. if i was your friend i would just go for it! and then marcille is like thats what i was thinking too :)... Picture book thoughts blow the cut because it’s A Lot.

Why is frank’s page the one presumably torn out? Julie speaks about every single neighbor, but his is missing. And directly after that page we have Wally saying “did all that really happen Julie?” And then in the secret video, we get the distant “like a memory” (transcript labeled it as such) audio of Wally saying the same thing again.

Memory seems to be a big player here with Julie. And/or, possibly her making up or over-embellishing stories that she thinks aren’t good enough.

With that said, she also mentions that when she first arrived at Home she met Frank first. She mentions that she can’t recall exactly how the meeting went. I have some Thoughts about this, as well as possible implications to her relationship with Frank.

First meeting thoughts:

Frank was the first person who met Julie. Was this by accident or on purpose? If we go by the idea that the characters are given ‘roles’ to play, then was Frank made to meet Julie first so they could fill their role as best friends or partners?

If by purpose, was it on franks behalf? Did he recognize a new outsider like himself and find some solace in the fact that he wasn’t alone in his newness? There’s been theories before about Frank being particularly different than others in town (I believe one going around is him being a ‘spy’ sort of) so perhaps Julie is very different in the same way? So they gravitate towards each other because of it?

Alternatively, was it on whomever is assigning roles? Did they deem the two to be friends and then - because this is a Show and they must Perform Their Characters - they simply fulfilled those roles? Could this be part of why Julie seems so stressed about completing her “job” as the one who wakes up flowers? Why she seems frantic at the idea of someone finding out she couldn’t complete it? If you can’t complete your assigned role, what happens to you?

Going off on this train of thought, if she was supposed to be his friend by default, is this why she can’t remember the meeting well? Because it was not necessary information for the show - as they were presumably friends already by the time it aired - therefore the show runners would not have to waste time on it other than vague ideas of how it went

As for their relationship, I have a few thoughts as well. Going off on the idea of it being ‘roles’ assigned to them, I can see how that could further stress Julie out about not living up to her role within that as well. She is supposed to be a foil to Frank - bubbly to his gloom. But if she can not be all of her character - the most prominent thing of hers is making flowers bloom - if she can not perform this vital task then that messes up the balance of everything. If she is not that, then is everything else a lie? Is she not enough to satiate the showrunners? Or home itself?

Of particular interest to me is the shift the updates have taken from best friends to a couple. I myself did not see them in a romantic light, so this could possibly be my own bias here speaking, but parts of this - particularly the sweet briar story felt forced. It may have been because it’s a kids book (and also a play by sally), but the fact that the ‘true loves kiss’ never happened was of interest to me. She sprung awake before it could happen. It could just be nothing much to think about but if I follow my main idea of them being ‘assigned roles’ then it would make that make sense.

They were assigned roles of a couple without much input from either of them. Theyre simply following the roles given to them. (Now this part I may be misremembering so take with a grain of salt) if I remember correctly, clown mentioned before how this story focused on certain themes - one such as sexuality and how that impacts you. As a certified Gay Boy™️ I can see a lot of resemblance in forcing yourself into a relationship you don’t actually want just to fit the idea of what you think everyone wants from you.

Once again, this is all conjecture, but something I wanted to bring up!

With this train of thought, I can also see how Julie could feel a lot of pressure from her family to fit into one specific role. And how that pressure could cause her to want to go her own way and find her own Home. Whether or not that was a good idea remains to be seen.

Anyway, that’s most of everything I think? My mind is a whirlwind right now, but this is so fun to analyze! Someone come yell with me about these funny little puppet people. I’m losing my mind.

started watching severance..so…..obviously i had to make a serverance sabrevine au(those who Know know why)

major spoilers for the show, so all thoughts are hid safely under the cut👍

vic severs immeditely after logan breaks off their relationship. logan had started seeing silverfox, thinking she was a better influence on him. then about 3 months or so later, she mysteriously dies(its a gemma type situation). it doesnt take long for logan to sever too

department X. a newer 2 person department, victor c. working alongside david n. they spend a lotta time organizing military equipment, and theorize maybe theres an apocalyptic war going on topside. but overall, they dont really talk much. 3 months in, kayla s. joins their team. 5 months in, logan h. shows up as well. and he n vic IMMEDIATELY click.

innie vic n logan have a lot smoother of a time falling into a relationship, as well as managing it, due to their lack of memories making them unaware of the reasons for their own issues

they obviously still have reactions n thoughts similar to the shit their outies deal with, feeling deep self hatred while not really knowing why, but theyre easier to deal with due to the lack of context, and they end up helping eachother out with that mutual struggle of mysterious pain

and these guys are basically experiencing the most giddy First Puppy Love of their weird little innie existence. its sappy, its fun, office supplies is getting messed with as they tease eachother, theyre sneaking out to go on lil dates around the maze of their workplace, etc etc

so. the purpose of their department is actually to test replacement of an outies memories. first, outie logans memory of silverfox’s death is replaced with vic being the culprit. and overtime, regular arguments in their relationship gets replaced with more intense abuse, on both sides

their innies start getting flashes of it as a result of it being so early in testing. logan starts to back off from vic a bit, but vic tries to reassure him their outies are different. at somepoint, flashes of their actual relationship slip thru too, and its like having 2 sets of memories. logan cant tell which one to trust...but he decides to trust the vic infront of him, since his own outie seems a lot meaner too

meanwhile their outies are getting flashes of their innies relationship, logan being scared for his innies safety and vic praying that his innie is somehow nicer than he was(even tho in reality he wasnt ever really that bad)

vic catches on that somethings up when he gets a flash of silverfox, obviously still alive, and is over the fucking moon that he didnt actually kill her(which he was inclined to believe cuz he really did want to do it at the time). hes also kinda selfishly hoping that innie logan doesnt start anything with her and just sticks with innie vic this time

at somepoint logan just stops going into work for a couple days out of fear for his innie, and thats when outie vic seeks him out to attempt to explain the stuff hes gotten flashes of

while talking, logan suggests the idea that if theyre working on replacing memories, then maybe they could erase them too…his memories of existing the way his innie does, purely, without having fucked anything up in his life yet, seems a lot more healing than the way he feels now. vic agrees, but…that kinda thing seems like a slippery escapist slope. ‘it aint just about erasing yer past, yer trying to erase yerself aint ya?’ vic’d miss him if he did, even admittedly the bad bits

even with all the abusive memories in their brains, sitting next to eachother they felt something comfortable, something warm, something that made them both feel present in the moment

ig ideally it’d end with them getting the false memories flushed outta them and integrating with their innies, giving their relationship another shot

i can understand why someone may look at the material of great comet and decide that a modern direction is the way to go, i mean, the anachronisms are literally written into the score. even in the original broadway production the modern elements are visually present. so to set great comet in a modern seedy club isnt completely dissonant. the difference to me, however, is that those anachronistic elements have thematic purpose and by changing them you ultimately dull a lot of moments. having a modern set could be utilised as moscow being a modern unknown world that natasha has yet to explore, its a world anatole is familiar with which is reflective in his gaudy electronic musical motifs whilst natasha's sweeter classical motifs clash with the visuals of a gritty stage. in a similar way, this is also true of pierre who feels distant from moscow society. what i think changes about this though is that, for natasha, it makes moscow seem like a bigger spectacle than anatole (and i think its important for natasha's motives that anatole is the bigger spectacle). natasha goes to moscow and lives with her older traditional aunt. she goes and visits her traditional fiancés family. its only when she sees anatole for the first time does she experience the excitement of something new, something shes never experienced before. its only at anatoles arrival do the modern electronic beats fuse with the traditional/classical sounds we've grown used to, a refreshing excitement for both the audience and natasha. and so imo it makes sense for the set to reflect that disruption of tradition with anatoles entrance rather than have the traditional elegance be absent from the beginning. in the original production i think this was actually showcased with the lighting; the show had a candlelit feel with chandeliers and table lamps only for the audience to get flashbanged with LED lights as anatole makes his entrance and for the audience to get overwhelmed with flashing rave lights as we follow his character in the next scene, it's the same weirdly intoxicating feeling natasha felt, you try to look away but you cant stop looking. its also why i prefer the comet to circle back to that traditional lighting, as anatole leaves moscow he takes his electronic aura with him and the chandelier glows as if a natural order has been restored.

thats not to say i dont think a modern set would never work or couldnt be thematically interesting. if i were to take a modernist approach i would evoke the feeling described above through costumes instead. having natashas costumes start very traditional/period-accurate and slowly fusing with modern clothing would echo anatoles corruption of her and how natasha forces herself to be what he wants. similar to most of their scenes, anatole/dolokhov/balaga/helene lend themselves to modern visuals. i think by making all the costumes glaringly modern you lose the contrast of natashas two worlds, the contrast of andrei and anatole. (in the original production its really the ensemble who wear the modern elements which i think plays into that idea of moscow feeling overworldly and unusual to natasha.)

i think the people who really suffer with modern costuming are pierre/sonya/marya. sonya/marya exist as a reminder of who natasha was before anatole and eventually their role is to try to ground natasha back into the real world they live. the modern elements are almost fantastical in nature, theyre a dream natasha's lost in. traditional costume is realistic and thus brings natasha back into the real world. pierre, to me, can exist somewhere in the between. andrei is the past, anatole is the present, pierre is the future. he is also the person who connects andrei and anatole, he is a perfect middle ground and i think his costume could reflect this. it makes sense for him to dress more traditional as he doesnt fit in with the kuragins/moscow society. i could see some modern elements being incorporated into his costume to suggest that he has a place in that world more than he believes. but i dont think it works if he's entirely modern because to an extent, he's right, he doesnt fit in with that world musically at all and he's the one to rid moscow of its electronic sound (by banishing anatole). he's the one who restores the balance because he has experience with both worlds. the bolkonskys also suffer with modern costuming re: andrei being the past and his family need to reflect that old stuffy dusty feeling natasha has become dulled by. because of all this, if a production has a modernised set AND costumes, i think the first 20 minutes (until the opera) can feel a bit discordant and almost confusing.

alls to say, i dont think a production of great comet having a minimalist set is inherently abysmal and harrowing. i mean take a look at the australian production, there were very few qualms about that. (they did however stick with semi-traditional costuming as some characters had clear 1800s inspired dress or russian-feeling elements to their costumes.) im interested to see if i can find a visual story with the all-modern clothes in the west end production and at the end of the day i would watch a bunch of strangers in jeans perform this show in a parking lot and still have good time so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ we live to love another day

People calling Hobie×Miles (punkflower) shippers proshippers as if we didn't ship them for longer than the movie even came out will always be crazy to me.

I've seen lots of people sending threats, or reporting people because they made punkflower, goldenflower (pavxhobie), ghostbyte (gwenxmargo), flowerbyte (margoxmiles), etc, arts or videos. Going to assume that it isn't because most of these ships are POCs ships, there's just literally no point to do that.

First of all, there's no confirmation of hobie's age. If ur basing urself of that one interview, then it was of the CONCEPT of hobie, and even so remember it was only one person who said it. Its heavily implied thats he's a teenager throughout the movie. (Also in the art book, its said that he's slightly older than Miles).

For the thing about him going to the pub and all, minors can and will go in pubs, (not saying that its always legal) are yall living under a rock or just dense on purpose? Teenagers do wtv the fuck they want, even when theyre not allowed to. Youre all going to tell me teenagers respect the rules of not drinking and go to clubs becuz theyre underage? Come off it. Also hobie literally merked his president and u think he'd draw the line at drinking alcohol as a minor? HA.

Aside from that, to be fair to everyone, the directors keeps on changing what they're saying about hobies age, one day they'll say and imply he's a minor and the next second say he's an adult. It's like they all have different idea of this character's age. So, nothing is really comfimed, and his age is really up to interpretation.

Now that we're past THAT point, the other kind of people talking about his age are people saying "oh but he looks old" "that man is most definitely 30yo" "there's no way he's underage" things of the sort, u get it. And I'm just over here like??? Why is it impossible for you to think that this guy could be a teen? Is it the air? The wrinkles? What makes it seem like for you that there's no way he could be around the other teens' age? And 30??? Cmon. The movies might be inspired from the comics, but not everything is going to be 100% the same. For exemple: gwen is 2 yrs older than Miles in the comics, but in movies she's only 15 months older, Jess Drew is white in the comics and black in the movie, Miguel O'hara is white passing in the comics, compared to his version in atsv where he has brown skin, lyla's disign is also different.

You get it? Things are going to differ as much as things are going to be the same, because (get ready!!) this is the multiverse! Just as earth-616 is just one universe in all the marvel comics, atsv is another universe.

All in all, im not saying u can't view them as adults, or wtv u want, thats ur interpretation, but don't go around being pissy at people around u cuz they have different point of views.

The main reason I dislike aeon so much is particularly because capcom has this strange thing that they do where they don't really show us how in love they are, they TELL us. If your characters were genuinely as in love and enthralled with each other as you say they are, we wouldn't need every character they interact with to TELL us they're in love.

i.e: "sounds like you know her well" from RE4R, "you have feelings for her dont you?" from RE6, "I can't believe i actually miss her" from RE2R, etc

You do not need to constantly vocalize how in love they are if they're truly in love and the games do it so much that it becomes repetitive. Someone's always asking Leon about Ada and TELLING him his feelings for her instead of us being shown that hes longing for and pining for her.

And this doesnt work specifically because of Leon's dry, cynical attitude toward Ada even in the original games. Their chemistry doesn't actually start working (in a sense) until RE6 but in 6 its basically forced down the players' throats.

Not to mention (especially in the 4 remake) Ada has a very odd boredness around Leon that people claim she uses as a way to hide her feelings for him. But I bring you this as a counter: her attitude toward Luis in the Separate Ways DLC.

Ada shows more genuine joy and emotion around Luis than she does toward Leon (even in the other games (maybe beside 6)). At one point she even giggles and smiles at him (which she has NEVER done to Leon):

She is constantly angry and exasperated with Luis the same way she is with Leon but the difference is that it doesn't feel as mocking toward Luis as it does Leon. She softens a lot easier around Luis even in their very limited screen time and interactions.

She has only ever ALLOWED Luis to touch her. With Leon, SHE is the one dictating the interaction and how its going to work. With Luis, she is less harsh about it and actually allows him to support her and help her in a way Leon has not.

She is very adamant about keeping Leon very far at arm's length and that COULD be because she has repressed feelings for him but it NEVER comes off that way. She is much more vibrant and emotional around Luis which we NEVER get to see around Leon. She's somewhat flirty and joking around Leon but not in the same way she is with Luis.

Aeon (imo) feels forced. Like capcom is TELLING us "hey, theyre meant for each other" when its not VISIBLE and not FELT like Leon/Ada's interactions are with other characters. Leon has more chemistry with Chris in Vendetta ALONE than he has with Ada. They feel meant for other characters but theyre being forced together in a way that feels clunky and badly written.

AND ANOTHER THING:

Capcom CANNOT just allow Ada to be a character without attaching her to Leon. Leon has his own arcs and development but she feels (ESPECIALLY IN THE OLD GAMES) like an accessory to him in the way her story and arc almost always completely revolve around him.

The Separate Ways DLC was changed SO much and it seems like they were trying to remedy it but even STILL she was constantly being stuck back to Leon and unallowed to have her own growth. She is the same old Ada because she can't become a different Ada if she's still attached to Leon's hip in the way capcom DESPERATELY needs her to be. The only biohazard movie she shows up in is Damnation and she's STILL Leon's little "femme fatale shadow of his past" character that i HATE. She disappears at the end of the movie and thats the LAST that we see of her.

I'm not saying that shipping aeon is like devil sent or the worst thing ever or anything, im just saying that (in my personal opinion) it doesnt work the way that most people think it does. Their relationship feels very surface level and forced. My biggest example of this is the kiss in RE2R. I've always had a problem with this scene particularly because aeon crusaders use it as a "GOTCHA!" moment to prove that theyre in love.

HOWEVER.

Ada seems disingenuous and Leon doesnt look overcome with love. Ada does this--not as impulse--but as a calculated move to catch Leon off guard and manipulate him into doing what she NEEDS him to do. It is her act of duty because she is immobile, injured, and a liability. She needs to act fast. So she does.

Leon does not react with wonder. He reacts with confusion. He does not look in love. He moves on from it very quickly. He appears to be questioning her and himself immediately after it is over. He does not react.

That is abject confusion.

I cannot say the same for the og re2 cause the graphics are pixels and the VA work is so bad that its hard to tell any emotion from it. But I can say in confidence that the kiss scene here does not seem to represent love at first sight.

The love at first sight trope is extremely difficult to pull off correctly and capcom had a good foundation for it... but not for Ada and Leon.

For Leon and CLAIRE.

They're much more involved together in RC in the original RE2 and the Darkside Chronicles and MUCH less present in the remake but STILL. The remake manages to capture a tenderness and genuine affection between them that Ada/Leon don't have in this game (or the others for that matter). The way they set up the Ada/Leon "romance" here is very strange. Like theyre trying to reassure us that theyre interested in each other without actually doing the emotional groundwork to prove it.

What particularly drives me crazy is that Aeon is in retrospect a very toxic ship that doesnt work between either of them. Ada treats Leon like a constant: "i dont have to work on this because he'll always be here waiting for me." And Leon always comes out of the otherside of their interactions worse off than he entered (think about the transition in his appearance and mental state from RE6 to Vendetta: the loss of weight, sarcastically dark hair, HEAVY alcohol use, increased suicidality) and of course this is affected by outside trauma as well, but it also has to do with Ada and her lingering influence on him that capcom must have in every game she appears in. It drags him down, makes him worse, and he never gets closure.

Ada also never gets closure because she pulls away before she can to avoid it for as long as possible. Which then just boils their dynamic down to "this is mysterious because we never communicate or accept each other into our lives" which in addition to the awful emotional layout capcom has done, just makes the ship extremely frustrating. And not in a slow burn "JUST KISS ALREADY" way. In a "can this please just be over already" kind of way.

I could go on about this all day but I'll shut up now lest the aeon shippers hear me from afar and come to rip my throat out

first things first, she is so incredibly underused within the tdi universe. ridiculously underused.

i think she has one of the most wasted potential of the entire gen one cast, if not THE most wasted. the writers did her so very dirty just over and over again.

the only good thing they did was forming team escope, which is mainly what i’ll focus on here!

eva herself though, is a very fun character who deserved more screentime to have some kind of arc or even play a villain. i think villain eva was robbed from us guys.

her aggressive nature and clear anger problems are what she’s always boiled down to in the fandom, but the season one finale ep is what gives us the most real insight to what she’s actually like. because she’s with friends!

it’s my personal opinion that team escope was formed simply because the writers couldn’t find anyone else for those three to be teamed with during the hunt for the million. eva and noah were voted off so early and are very off putting socially, and izzy was deemed absolutely mental by the majority (if not all) of the cast by that point. the three misfits had no where else to turn besides each other!

and how amazingly wonderful it was.

i think the biggest thing for eva is truly how authentic someone is. my reasoning lies within how different izzy and noah are, practically polar opposites, and yet eva seems to consider both of them friends.

noah calling her out on her bs with justin, calling her “iron women,” very very naturally? eva responding with “i’m so ashamed!” BRO THEYRE SO BESTIES

noah and izzy are so incredibly themselves at practically every moment. noah will never be able to shut his damn mouth and loves to be the little bitch he is, and izzy is always ready to pull some kind of prank or jump into some kind of acrobatic trick. they refuse to back down for anyone, and that’s the kind of strength eva appreciates more than anything else. people will who be themselves proudly!

also, eva is fairly loyal with her friends! she doesn’t ever really noah behind in that episode, even calling out to him to hurry up when he falls behind. this is a difference with her and izzy, in which the redhead isn’t afraid to take off for her own interests. (although i still feel that she does deeply care and is loyal in other ways!)

but yeah overall, eva is a very underused character with a lot of potential for plot and character development. i really wish we got to see more sides of her than just the angry one, which is the most prominent, but definitely not the only thing that makes eva who she is!
