Honestly more things are pointing to a permanent separation for SH. No indications of any reconciliation sadly. And it makes it even harder without the confirmation. I guess when they start to get papped with their new SOs will be the day that it is confirmed they are done. And I hope it is soon. This push and pull with them is exhausting
Good day, anon, and welcome to hell. Screams for help will not save you, alas, because when it comes to a topic in which I am 99, 9% sure, I have no equals. I'm sorry you probably got the wrong address, but it's too late. I am merciless and bloodthirsty with anyone who tries to contradict my faith, tries to correct my point of view and convince me of their own, although I did not give it a reason. Because it's my fucking blog where I for x-billionth time has already expressed my exact points and agreed with some people which think and proved the exact opposite to all that you are saying. So be prepared to be slowly but surely tortured by my long ass post.
So, let's start with what I said about my blog: only good vibes here. I am not interested/concerned about other opposite/negative feedings. I just don't want to make a big deal about it. Here, in my blog, we support Lili Pauline Reinhart and Cole Mitchell Sprouse in any case as couple as well as individuals.
This means that under no circumstances do we talk about them, their relationships, their projects, their family, or their decisions in a negative way. Yes, we may disagree with something they do, where they do it, and how they do it (what they post, what they like/don't like, write or repost, who they meet, with whom they decide to be, live and communicate with, what they archive/unarchive, and so on), but we do not have the right to judge them or decide how to act. We also can't control it and it's none of our business.
I repent if I once made the appearance of a person condemning one of them or their family for their actions and possible causes of the separation, it was only my objective external disagreement, points and thoughts aloud, nothing more rude, involved and inappropriate. And I think with many of my words said earlier (or the words of those I follow and reblog their posts) about the behavior of family/friends of Lili, Cole, and so on, people with brains and common sense could agree. Remember this, or write it on your forehead, so that the next time you write to me, you will see these words.
Moving on, taking into account all of the above, I would like to tell you that it probably won't be enough for one blog to explain to you point by point all my beliefs and points of view on this subject, to prove to you that every fucking word you say is illogical shit and the most real nonsense. It feels like you're an alien who fell from another planet and decided to crawl into our hole with your impressions of a newborn baby who doesn't understand much about the world and its creators. Although in this case, I'm more of the opinion that you are a little asshole, in which the vein of hatred is boiling and you like to come to this and some other blogs to tell us your agenda although we have no idea where you have such rash thoughts, perhaps you have an extra chromosome? Dude, treat your paranoia.
Further, given that I don't have much time and desire to describe all my points of view point by point, which, unlike your random set of words, really makes sense for hundreds or even thousands of people who have the gray matter to be able to think, I will attach my long - standing post, indicating all the facts at that time proving the opposite to yours. Although, I will try to supplement everything else as much as I can.
While, we all ( I hope) already realized and accepted that for many reasons, during this quarantine, Lili and Cole had some problems, were distant and ended up apart for a certain period of time, immediately after the end point of the explosion and informing us of all these public actions on social media (I hope you understand), then after a few weeks, they were already confidently moving towards resolution and recovery and that's why:
https://babysprousehart.tumblr.com/post/618026656780648448/hello-i-hope-this-doesnt-come-off-negatively
This was written long before, but still has many valid points and I just want to widen some of them.
Take a sit and follow me word by word.
I shall start my addition of evidence, based on all the guesses and great opinions of others, as well as hints from the Lili and Cole themselves. I would like to start with a significant event and the day when Lili posted a photo from the Antelope Valley on April 28th, well, or 27th, depending on where you are.
Perhaps we lose some missing pieces in this puzzle and forget about something that was done earlier, but I just want to start counting from this moment.
A few facts about this photo/photos:
1) It was posted exactly 3 years later from their famous photoshoot, when very, very, very many people, mostly in media, began to suspect that there is something between them in a romantic way. It was exactly in the same place, exactly with the same style, exactly in a similar image (waving curly hair, light flying dress, black and white effect) and even without a capture. The picture marked the anniversary and is very important for the two of them. An undeniable fact, beat me.
2) That photo was definitely taken by Cole. Why?
Here are a couple more facts in addition to the first:
They have the quality of captured on professional camera.
You can see, that Lili did not tag the photographer and said jokingly that the photo was taken by Milo, why would she lie, or hide that it was anyone else, because clearly she just hid that because it was Cole.
You may have noticed that Austin, when asked who took the photo, whether she took it and whether she is a good photographer, says no and her reaction with a grin and laugh is priceless. She also didn't tag nor the photographer, neither Lili in her photos from there.
You can watch the vlog in the Colleen blog and see there are very similar figures to Cole, Lili and Milo walking along the valley, because, duh, they were there.
You can view her post, where you can see Cole from the back (notice his dark clothing, the same as on one of his post in the profile, which he has already deleted, as well as his position from which the photo of Lili was supposedly taken and it is just in the same place).
You can observe his style of photography and how similar the theme is to the photos from 2017.
You can see the same poppy behind his ear in one of the past stories.
You may have noticed that the photo of Lili is processed with the same effect as several photos in Cole's profile, and I can tell you as an amateur photo editor that it is very identical.
Question: why arrange such a significant photoshoot with your ex after a few weeks of separation? Why is Cole smiling in a photo (black and white one with a mustache and black clothes) probably taken there? Why is everything so secretive if they broke up? Why even post a photo that your ex-boyfriend definitely took? How can you calmly go to this place, which reminds you of your joint travels with your former lover? Therefore, this photo and later another one from there were the first iron arguments in confirming the improvement of things.
I would like to continue with another ironclad proof.
Lili in early may very fiercely, after a few weeks of Cole's statements about slander and threats, which she did not respond to so clearly at the time, defended Cole and pointed out the private relationship and literally said that people should stop it and even though should hurt and bully her, but not him.
Question: did she defend her ex so publicly? Would Lili talk about a private relationship if that was the way her past relationship was most often? Would she have written anything at all if she didn't care about him and didn't feel something towards him? I don't think so, so it's gibberish to say so (about the break up) when it's the second unquestionable argument.
Next, we need to talk about the general activity of Cole and Lili in social media. I just want to list some observations, in different order, but it seems like everything we have now:
If earlier it was visible in the posts of Lili that it was clearly a show off, then over time and after the published photos, she began to behave more sincerely and tenderly, began to publish Milo less, began to say that there was only the two of them less, has stopped showing how good she is without certain someone, as if for Cole showing that she could cope without him, which was visible in the posts and stories, she began to talk more about improving her mental health as a result of training, spoke about how later she was feeling better and that she was grateful for those who were with her and difficult times and in light moments, that you just need to live and enjoy.
Additionally, I can say how she shone with each photo, and it was a natural glow of happiness and settling down. She no longer sang sad songs or posted sad songs, on the contrary, posted sexy, funny and relaxed ones. She appeared more in photos taken by paparazzi. She posted sexy, energetic, romantic movies, funny cartoons, watched funny clips, was excited about her project, laughed, danced with her dog, played with a dog with macaroni, cosplayed Willy Wonka (we all have a feeling it’s Cole’s thing, no?), playing with sand, puzzles, posted funny memes in story, which unfortunately coolly accepted as the opposite, posted a poem with a typo and funny answered to a fan who corrected it, told more about poems and attached a photo with a fragment of a poem about love from her upcoming book. She liked some photos from the anniversary of the last episode of the series, where we remember there was a hot scene of her and Cole's character, she liked a Bughead drawing. Yesterday, she actually posted one of the sexiest videos that will not be posted, being single and lonely, we saw that she actually spent more personal time with Cole (I am not saying they weren’t doing t back then), which was investigated thanks to many amazing people here, and even if they don't live together yet, they are more likely to meet and have met with each other, and more hints on sexy times (because, come one, maybe Milo was the one who left a hickey on her neck, huh?), which is undeniable, just compare the fact that she is no longer in the old rental, and he is not in Kj's house, she then posted a photo from some place, which is very similar to where Cole shot a video with Jimmy Fallon.
He also began to be more active in social networks, exactly after she started posting photos of the Antelope Valley, he posted a series of photos of the kissing couple, even if it was a gay drawings, they were filled with love, there was a photo of him with cattle with the sarcastic caption, then the photo about porn bots, with funny ask to leave him alone and saying it’s not allowed to be horny on quarantine, again a photo of himself with heart eyes that I talked about above, he posted a very funny video recently. There were more photos from the paparazzi after some time when Lili's usually flashed, and then it stopped, then his humorous photo in the washing machine appeared, which she probably had taken, and why so I explained in the attached post, he posted a photo from the walk, which was also probably taken with her, because again, she had a similar location, then he jokingly called Tommy ‘the’ muse, maybe roasting fans, but he didn’t use ‘my’, so, indicating he still has his own muse, then we saw him at that damn party, which caused people's panic, although he is an ordinary person and has the right to relax, and by the way at this party he was very happy and frisky, but nothing bad or shameful happened and he is innocent, then we even saw Cole, after Lili, delete many of the photos, although he had also unarchived some of them several times, as she had, which means that he did not delete them completely, but just removed many of them, leaving the most tender photo after or before the kiss at the famous moment when Lili wanted a toast and eggs at 1 am, or many photos reflecting her body, which also marks not a bad phenomenon, but a simple trolling from them. Proof of this trolling and unarchiving is on the vastness of other blogs and on Twitter, thanks to that girl's video.
The way their condition and activity on social networks have changed is very noticeable and is also third undeniable fact of denial of the break up. You can compare photos of Cole taken by Alex, where he is clearly very sad and depressed, because it was taken somewhere in the interval of their real breakup. And compare this with his smiling and playful state during the interview with Jimmy, where he also sparkled with happiness and fun, constantly smiling and seemed to be aroused about something (or someone). I think even a newcomer will notice a change in their mood and attitude. You will see the difference. And this does not happen when going through the break up after 4 years of deeply imbued with love relationships. Please understand, damn it.
I have listed alas not everything that speaks so vividly about things going in the right positive direction and is evidence that everything is getting better again, there will be only more I assure you and you will kiss my ass, as Cole said.
 Execution cannot be pardoned.
You have one attempt to put a comma and decide your fate, but I think you’ll  fail because you are a total sucker anyway.
 Bye!

When their s/o is a lawyer (Exo-M)
Tumblr media
I’m so excited someone finally included my Freedom Three!  I love them so much!!  Actually, I’m going to go back and do a separate reaction with just the three of them to the Exo requests I have received so far, so please anticipate those!
Tumblr media
Xiumin:
There’s something about you being a lawyer that just warms him inside, honestly.  The thought of you being so successful makes him really proud and happy.  Minseok is getting to that age where he’ll start thinking about possibly settling down and the image of you with his children is something he’s probably thought about a gazillion times, but now!  He likes to be a good role model and wow, you would be one hell of a role model for his kids.  That probably means a lot to him.  That and his family will likely be really impressed with you, too.  He sees this as just another reason why he adores you.  You being a lawyer also means you understand his busy schedules and late nights, something that relieves stress from his shoulders honestly.  The last thing any of these guys needs is someone who isn’t understanding of their situation, but who better than a lawyer!  Lawyers work the long hours, have surprise updates to their schedules, sometimes having to travel for work expectedly or unexpectedly depending on the field.  No matter what, Minseok is going to be really proud of you and you can bet that, just like Jongdae, when work gets hellish, he’ll be right there to try and sooth you.  “Ah, the case didn’t go well?” *you shake your head defeatedly* “Aw, jagiyah, come here.  Let’s take a bath together, yeah?  We’ll just relax tonight, order in, and cuddle.  Does that sound good?”
Tumblr media
Luhan:
Finally, someone who might impress his parents!  He loves the fact that you’re a lawyer.  This bub will likely read up as much as he can about your in particular field just so he can be as supportive as he possibly can be.  Luhan is a firecracker through and through, but he’s also super tender hearted and thoughtful.  Like Yixing, he will constantly be spoiling you and like Minseok, he’ll be unable to stop thinking about the future with you.  You represent something stable and something grounded.  He would like that.  People get caught up a lot in the whole ‘I’m manly’ bullshit, but honestly, Luhan just wants to provide for the person he loves and wants to feel appreciated by that person.  It doesn’t really matter to him what your profession is, but you being a lawyer is really cool to him.  You’re successful and goal oriented, things that seriously impress him.  Law school is hard as hell, so he knows you’re also smart as hell, which is another thing that he really, REALLY likes.  Luhan is a smart guy and he’s an Aries, which means just like Aquarius, he appreciates intellect.  He likes a challenge, which also means just like Jongdae, he’ll probably instigate dumb arguments purely for argument's sake, because he never gets to see you in action and he wants to experience that side of you for himself.  Also, just like Yifan, expect some roleplay requests.  Don’t let those boyishly innocent looks fool you, he’s a kinky guy.  Aries typically are.  “Oh my god!  Why are we even arguing, Luhan!” *pauses and just smirks, crossing his arms*  “Cuz you’re sexy when you go all lawyer on me.”
Tumblr media
Kris:
Sexy.  Yifan will think the fact that you’re not only a strong business woman, but a lawyer is super sexy.  It turns him on, to be honest.  The thought of you in those slick suits, done up to perfect, arguing a case just makes his blood boil in the most pleasant of ways.  He will probably want to talk about it a lot with you.  Where did your inspiration come from?  What led you down that road?  Where do you see yourself later?  What field with in law interests you the most?  What kind of cases have you been a part of?  Hardest?  Easiest? Honestly, it will turn into a bragging right for him.  When people ask him about his s/o, he’ll proudly state, ‘oh, he/she is a lawyer’ with that sexy smirk of his, just completely cocky about the whole thing.  But don’t think you’re a trophy to be displayed, no, no, no!  Not with any of these guys, but especially not Yifan.  His pride comes from the fact that you are a strong, independent person who knows what they want out of life, which is a concept he knows well and definitely something he admires in you.  “A lawyer?” “Yeah” “...” “Are you okay?” “Holy shit that’s sexy!” *cue blushing*  (also...don’t be surprised if he asks for a little roleplay if you know what I mean ;) )
Tumblr media
Lay:
This muffin will be beyond impressed!  Very, very, very much so!  It’ll be something that he just tells everyone with the same amount of surprise he had when he initially found out.  Just a whole lot of ‘did you know my girl/boyfriend is a lawyer?’  ‘it’s so unexpected!’ He’d smile proudly, dimples and all, each time, too.  Yixing would probably fret over you, though.  He’d make sure you eat properly by either surprising you with dinner when he could or sending you food when he couldn’t physically be there.  He’d also be someone to send flowers when you’re having a bad week or you’re super stressed with a case or really whenever he just wants to remind you of how amazing and loved you are.  He’s super attentive, even when he’s tired from work or extensive dance practices.  Yixing loves to bathe you in compliments, too!  Everything from the suit you’re wearing to how hard you're working, anything to put those shy smiles he loves so much on your lips.  I think Yixing is also the type to update your wardrobe and office gear every so often, too.  Like he will be in Paris for a photoshoot or in China for a show and he’ll see a suit that he thinks would look amazing on your or a briefcase that he just can’t pass up.  Basically, he just likes to spoil you.  “Yixing, you didn’t have to get me a new briefcase...I’ve barely broken in the one you got me for my birthday last year.” *smiles that sweet dimple smile* “You can never have too many, Baobei.  Besides, I love you and I wanted to get it for you.” (honestly, all you Yixing stans...how do you survive this dude?)
Tumblr media
Chen:
Will be hella impressed!  Finds that your being a lawyer is super attractive, almost as much as those sexy suits.  He will find ways to tease you regarding your profession, anything from initiating nonsensical arguments to hiding your stuff so you’re forced to question him about it.  Coy, coy, coy.  This one is a troll (and we all love him for it let’s be honest).  He loves provoking your lawyer side, purely because it turns him on.  But on a more serious note, he is also super proud of you.  He sees how hard you work, bringing documents home and staying up late working on briefs or going over case evidence before a trial.  This is Jongdae, so you know he’ll bring you coffee, make you little snacks, massage your shoulders or draw you a bath when you get too stressed.  He’s a caretaker under all those trollish layers of his.  He just wants to make sure you are healthy and happy.  For as much as his teasing can drive you up a wall, he knows when to curb those tendencies and act more mature.  If you’re stuck in a certain part of your case, he’ll do his best to help you without actually being privy to the actual details.  People take for granted his observation skills, so he’s a really good candidate for working through hypotheticals and spurring ‘Eureka’ moments.  “Kim Jongdae, where are my car keys?!”  *pleased kitten smile*  “I don’t know what you’re talking about, love.”  “Jongdae, don’t play innocent with me…I know you took them.”  *Sly shoulder shrug and smirk* “I guess you’ll just cross-examine the witness.”  “You’re not a witness, Jongdae; you’re the perpetrator!”  *winks* “I’ll be whatever you want, sweetheart.”
Tumblr media
Tao:
Impressed!  Tao is young, so he understands what it means to struggle to make something of yourself so early on in life.  The fact that you had a plan for your life and executed it to ensure your dreams came true is something that he will find super attractive.  Tao is someone who sets goals for himself and, haters be damned, he will achieve them.  He’ll ask a millions and one questions just to understand the nature of your line of work and will definitely have even MORE respect for you.  Like Yifan, it will be something that brags about.  He likes other people knowing how amazing you are.  Of course, that comes at a limit, because he can’t have anyone thinking ‘unsavory’ things about you because that’s his job.  Which basically means, he’ll give the stank face to anyone who so much as blinks wrong in your direction.  Tao can be the jealous type, but those energies are more outwardly cast rather than being directed towards you.  Possessive in the most attractive ways.  He lingers in the morning when he can, just to watch you get ready for work.  He LOVES seeing you in suits, hair done to perfection, and just overall looking like a business badass.  “Damn, babe, you look hot as hell.”  “You say that every day.” “Then I guess it’s just a fact of life, huh?” “You’re a dork.” *cocky smirk and wiggles eyebrows*

January Cover Star Emily Ratajkowski Talks Feminism, Criticism & Being Controversial Emily Ratajkowski
Browbeaten for being beautiful and criticised for her self-expression, American actress Emily Ratajkowski is a twenty-first century conundrum. But her quest for liberty is one we should all respect. When Emily Ratajkowski answers the phone, the first two words we exchange are the kind of ice-breaker a journalist dreams of. “Nice name,” she laughs about our collective moniker. The customary awkwardness of a phone interview, where witty face-to-face repartee is lost to crackling phone lines and long-distance pregnant pauses, is replaced with a lucky common ground that sets the tone for an insightful and amiable telephonic tête-à-tête. Derived from Latin, Emily means ‘striking... eager... rival’, and I’m keen to know which might characterise her most aptly. “I don’t think all Emilys are born the same,” she proffers back. She has a point. Emily Ratajkowski (silent ‘j’, FYI) is a 26-year-old American A-list model-cum-actress with a side-line in design, living a charmed life in LA, with movie premieres, catwalks and 15.9 million Instagram followers. I, on the other hand, am a 39-and-three-quarters mum-of-one living the quiet life in Dubai, with Spinneys shops, nursery runs and 3,684 Instagram friends. Incomparable, I know. But what I learn through the course of our interview is that there’s one thing that binds Emily and I, something that transcends continent, age and social convention, and that’s a mutual and unwavering belief that women are awesome and that we should be allowed to be exactly who we want to be. Full stop. On this matter, Emily Ratajkowski is an unreserved feminist. A loud and proud campaigner, whose views are liberal and whose commentary is deliciously unfettered. Her Twitter account shoots straight from the heart, and she’s a no-holds-barred kinda advocate who gets up in people’s grill for all the right reasons. Her approach to feminism isn’t singular or particularly radical, in fact, in essence, it’s beautifully simplistic... Women should have choice, believing nobody, and certainly no man, should be able to dictate how a woman chooses to live her life, what she says, what she wears, or what she does. It’s a viewpoint she advocates and defends in equal measure, and often on a daily basis. You see, Emily came to fame in Robin Thicke’s controversial 2013 Blurred Lines video, in which a scantily-clad Emily rollicked around in a rather suggestive manner. Likewise, her @emrata Instagram account is strewn with semi-dressed selfies, including a provocative photo with Kim Kardashian West that went viral last year. It is a palpitating juxtaposition in which a woman wantonly flaunts her sexuality whilst fighting for freedom. Would Emmeline Pankhurst salute her spirit or fear for the female-driven future she fought so hard for? And it is here that the complexities of the discourse begin. Because, how can someone who labels themselves a feminist brandish their body so brazenly? Oh, the hypocrisy. I’ll let Emily explain... “I think a lot of people really feel that the idea of a woman being sexual or being sexualised is the opposite of feminism,” she says, “When I feel like, in some ways, that conversation itself can be oppressive to women, because you’re telling them how to dress and how to act, which is actually the opposite of feminism. The idea that you have to adjust because of society’s ideas of a sexualised woman or because of a patriarchal standard of beauty and sexuality is again putting pressure on women to change rather than the outside culture changing. However, if that makes a woman feel good, then likewise, who is anyone to tell them that they shouldn’t do that? Women should be able to do and say what they want without the burden of judgment from other people. Young women, in fact women of any age, shouldn’t have to feel judged or limited. However, I think younger women have this idea about feminism, that it’s like some kind of burden. It’s what Roxane Gay’s book Bad Feminist is all about, what does it mean to be a bad feminist? For example, you like a song that’s somewhat misogynistic, and the guilt that can be induced, especially in young women who are already under so much pressure, is awful. And that’s something I’ve made my cause about.” Having had an “interesting introduction into womanhood”, maturing physically far earlier than her peers, Emily has spoken openly about the additional pressures placed on her as a young woman. “I was a 12 year old [with D-cup breasts] but people looked at me as a 21 year old,” she explains. “It was really difficult for me to understand and to come to terms with – that identity, people’s perception of me... It’s hard for a 12-year-old girl, who is basically feeling like ‘Why don’t you just leave me alone’, because I don’t see men having to justify what they wear or how they express themselves.” “The fact that I didn’t feel I should have to change who I am for someone else” is down to her mother, who counselled Emily wisely. “She told me, ‘wear whatever you want, do whatever you want, it doesn’t matter, that’s just your body and that’s who you are so it’s not your issue.’ There was an acceptance there.” But naturally this scrutiny had a lasting effect, one which she describes in Baby Woman, an essay she penned for fellow actress Lena Dunham’s weekly feminist newsletter, Lenny, in which she writes: ‘Surprisingly enough, dealing with the world outside the [modelling] industry was the toughest part of my adolescence and young adulthood. Teachers, friends, adults, boyfriends were more often the ones to make me feel uncomfortable or guilty about my developing sexuality.’ That over-scrutiny eventually spilled over into her career, with a move into the entertainment industry where she found “a separation between being smart and being a woman who can talk about feminism, someone who is intelligent but also sexy and happy to flaunt her sexiness. That’s just sexism,” she resolves. “I think women should be able to be however they want to be with their body and their sexuality, and that shouldn’t be in any kind of opposition to what they want to say.” Being sensual is liberating, Emily says, explaining that she finds a certain beauty in being happy with who you are. “Absolutely. But I don’t think I’m an extremely sensual person every day. I’m just a human being and that’s something very personal. I feel all the different ways throughout the day – sexy, goofy, smart... And that’s the kind of life I would want for a young woman growing up. I would want her to feel all those different things in the span of 24 hours, and to feel empowered by that.” Not everyone agrees, of course, and when you’re in the public eye as much as Emily is, criticism is fait accompli. The more you post, the more you say, the more you open yourself up to criticism. Last summer British journalist Piers Morgan slammed Emily’s photoshoot in Harper’s Bazaar US’s August issue, which saw her riding a white horse sans vetements. Piers tweeted: ‘Do you want me to buy you some clothes – you look freezing.’ Emily’s acerbic retort... ‘I don’t need clothes as much as you need press.’ Likewise, in February this year, she spoke out against ‘slut-shaming’ when a New York Times reporter called America’s First Lady Melania Trump a ‘whore’. Taking to Twitter, she wrote: ‘Sat next to a journalist from the NYT last night who told me ‘Melania is a hooker’. Whatever your politics, it’s crucial to call this out for what it is: slut shaming. I don’t care about her nudes or sexual history and no one should.’ Emily won’t be silenced, but then again, why should she be? “Again, to me, women don’t have to or shouldn’t have to adjust their behaviour to make other people, men in particular, feel comfortable. Or uncomfortable. Women are doing their own thing, they’re not asking for anything when they dress a certain way or when they post certain things on Instagram. And even if they are, it’s their life, they have the ability to make those choices.” Her views on feminism are black and white. Choice is right, taking power away from a woman is wrong. “To me that’s what feminism is all about. So the idea of putting limitations on women is the opposite of feminism. Even if it comes from a place of trying to dismantle the patriarchy. If you’re telling women how they should dress or how they should be... I think that you’re making a big mistake.” We discuss the difference between the East and West, the history of cultural constraints, perceived societal suppression, and the preconceptions many have of how Arab women dress – or are forced to dress. She seems to understand the conflict, tweeting an illustration last September of a figure of a woman – on the left, the woman wears an abaya, on the right, a swimsuit – entitled, The Lottery of Indecency. “It’s about all the names that both of these women will get called, because I think to me, it’s very much the same,” she says of the illustration that calls out people that criticise a woman for what they wear, how they wear it and how they choose to portray their body. “A woman deciding to be covered up is ultimately as much a feminist choice as her choosing not to be,” Emily opines. “I think it’s different for every woman and that’s how it should be. Whatever you feel comfortable with and however you want to show your sexuality or not show your sexuality is empowering as long as it’s your choice. I just spent some time in Morocco and it was really interesting to see a wide gamut of women choosing different ways of dressing. I really respect that.” Last October Emily also tweeted an illustration of a woman in various guises of clothing – from a dress to a bathing suit to an abaya and so on. Underneath, the text reads: ‘Rape is never the victim’s fault.’ With the sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein surfacing in October, the tweet was well-timed and impactful. “Nobody was surprised by these allegations,” she ventures, frankly. It’s a delicate subject, but I want to know whether she has ever been in a position where she felt uncomfortable or objectified? “Yes. I don’t know a woman who hasn’t felt that way in this industry. If you think about Salma Hayek’s op-ed in the New York Times last month where she talks about trying to make a movie and the sort of pressure and the position she was put in as a sexualised woman... She had a horrible time in the industry. But you know, as an actress, or anyone who’s worked in the industry, I feel the same way. We’ve all seen it... My male friends, who I think are feminists with great ideas about equality, they were very surprised [about Weinstein]. But none of my female friends were shocked. I think people need to wake up and realise there’s something deeply disturbing [about the industry]. I think that there are a lot of power dynamics that have been deeply sown from the very beginning of the industry, where there are very small things that even as a woman you are so used to, that you don’t realise how wrong they are. But I hope the culture is changing.” It’s a difficult time to be living in America, with the Weinstein allegations and Trump’s anti-feminist objectification of women both constant hot topics. “You know, I think it’s always been difficult, but now I think it’s just more visible. In some ways it’s a good thing when it is visible because you have to be really organised to really stand for the things you believe in and have something to rally against. I don’t think that the difference in a president changes cultural issues, because all these things were happening with Harvey [Weinstein] under other political reigns.” With her own rallying cry so emphatic, how else does she think the world – and entertainment industry – should move forward to a more inclusive and celebratory society that truly embraces women? “It’s really about women supporting women. But it’s more than just saying ‘me too’, it’s about saying ‘I believe you’, and really getting behind someone. We need to say, ‘I believe you, I believe your experience, your truth and your feelings, about what it means to be a woman.’ We need to take the responsibility off women to change how they have to act and behave, and instead look at how we can unite against the cultural issues that have lead us to where we are.” All this social injustice is just kindling that sparks even further rhetoric for Emily. While there’s this cause, Emily will take a stand. Of course, strong viewpoints elicit strong reactions. Haters gonna hate, so the saying goes. “I really try to live by the idea that other people’s reactions are not my problem,” she says. “But there are definitely times I would just love to lay in bed and hide under the covers and wish I didn’t have access to the internet, you know.” Do her critics fuel her still further? “Yes, I think so. I mean, I have moments of feeling really great about being outspoken and then I have moments of feeling really beaten down by it and misunderstood and misinterpreted, where things are taken out of context or in a different direction that I don’t believe in, and that can make me feel like, ‘What am I even doing?’” I wonder who it is that usually misconstrues what she says, men or women? “Generally men,” she says frankly. “I think a lot of women feel like that all the time. But I think if you don’t have haters or if you’re not somewhat controversial, then you’re not standing for anything in general and that’s something I think about a lot. So I’d rather be p***ing people off than just everyone liking me. I feel strongly that I’m right about a lot of the things I’m saying and that eventually the world will come around to that, and to me, and that’s worth all the frustrations that come with being criticised and being in the public eye and having people say that you’re basically full of s**t.” Well, you don’t want to be vanilla after all, I say. “No,” she smiles. “I’ve got no interest in that.
