I just finished a rewatch of Steven Universe, and man, binging it was a very different experience from watching it as it aired.

Controlling a large group of people by making them “high on happiness”. I was debating about making it a spa thing, lord in a castle, or just a cult, so I’ll let you choose :)

Oh this sounds fun! I love the idea of a Hypno-spa so I think let’s go with that…

“So I see you’re booked in for our total rejuvenation package, is that right?” The woman at the desk asked happily.

“Yep, that’s us!” The couple said with faux-enthusiasm. It was clear she was much more excited to be here than her boyfriend she had dragged along.

“Lovely. You’re all set. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask any of our staff. You’ll start off in the massage room, then you’ll have your facial, sauna, and we’ll have some snack stops along the way incase you get peckish.” She scrunched her nose endearingly, gesturing to the hallway on her left.

“Thanks so much!” The man said with a hint of sarcasm, allowing his girlfriend to lead the way.

The two trudged down the hallway and stopped at the final door, giving it a push.

The massage room was warm and inviting, with soothing diffusers around the room adding to the hazy, calming atmosphere.

“Hello! You must be our 2pms? Feel free to wait over here and enjoy the complimentary snacks.” One of the workers guided them to a couch.

“Oh - uh, thank you!”

They both took a small treat from the table.

“Where did you find this place again? This is way too nice for what we’re paying for it.” The man grumbled, popping the whole snack in his mouth.

“Honey,” she scolded as he reached for another snack. “Janine recommended it.” She nibbled a little of the treat.

“It just,” he popped the snack into his mouth without pausing to chew, “there’s got to be something shady going on when it’s this nice.”

She mouthed “quiet” as two more workers walked past.

She nibbled the treat anxiously. Of course he’d hate this. She’d known and she’d dragged him along anyways, and now for the whole day she’d have to deal with him bitching at her.

She stopped nibbled and finished it in two bites, wiping her mouth, determined to keep the day happy.

Which was when something strange happened

He smiled at her.

“What?” She couldn’t help but smile back, nervous at why his mood had shifted so suddenly.

This was the type of smile she’d see reserved for special moments. When he’d proudly finished a project, or when he’d held his nephew for the first time, or when he’d look up from his crossword to see her finishing up her book.

“I’m just really happy we’re doing this.”

She smiled, worrying that saying something about his odd behavioural shift would break whatever spell he was under.

Instead she giggled at him.

Giggled. Like a schoolgirl.

They laughed harder in a slightly confused way as a man approached them.

“It looks like you two are ready for your massages!” The staff member smiled, a little too wide.

The massage was perfect, of course, as everything in this place seemed to be (and as Janine had gone on and on about). The couple left overly relaxed, eyes not quite focusing, and vacant smiles on their lips.

Like zombies, they shuffled following the signs to the facial room which was similarly full of small treats that made them overly touchy with each other.

“It’s… kinda weird, right?” He laughed, looking at his gorgeous girlfriend.

“What?” She popped another cake into her mouth.

“I kind of feel… did I ever tell you I smoked weed during high school?”

The laughed even harder, breathing in the foggy air.

“It kind of feels like that.” He broke out into a childish launch.

“It’s probably… it’s probably some kind of relaxing thing… in the air. Like when you smell lavender and feel sleepy” she closed her eyes sighing dreamily.

“Yeah…” he hummed, before they were both approached for their facial.

The flashing lights had been a strange touch, and their cheeks were hurting slightly, but the two were having such a lovely day how could they stop smiling?

She took another snack and examined it in her hand.

Something is wrong, a part of her said. Deep in her mind.

It’s the food. It’s the smells. It’s this place.

But then she looked over at her smiling boyfriend, free from the stress of work and anxieties.

And well, he just looked so happy.

So she abandoned the thought and took a bite, smiling.

Eeeeee oki, so I just finished watching boy swallows universe (an absolute masterpiece) and I was wondering what if the reader was like sold drugs or just did bad stuff for money for their family, like they grew up pretty fricking poor and did whatever they could for the extra cash (which is why they're in hell). They die somehow, land in hell and get treated like absolute dirt because they're small and they're wearing plain ass clothes, not powerful at all. Then comes Susan, and she's like "I'm so sick of the pathetic youth today, I'm taking you home with me" and just teaches them how to be proper and less shy and stuff, and to tear people with their teeth (yhey never got used to the whole eating people thing, Susan rolled her eyes and asked if she was a vagitarian or whatever it was called) and this reader hardly talks to anyone but Susan. Then they get introduced to Rosie and Alastor and it's just Susan simultaneously boasting about them telling them to stand up straight

Drug usage, child neglect, cannibalism, murder etc etc Susan kinda treats you as a stray pet in the beginning, not proofread so apologies for any spelling mistakes!

You died young, tragically young, you died in the winter, cornered away curled into a ball, clutching your stomach, wearing a old thin sweater that your older brother gave you, overalls, flimsy socks with a couple of holes in them, and worn down sneakers, you were beaten and bruised, you wanted your mom to hold you and tell you that everything was alright but she wasn't coming,

Did she know where you were? How would she react knowing her kid was gone?

You were a good kid, you just made a couple of bad decisions for your family, you mimicked what you saw,

No one ever suspected the kid with a babyface was dealing, getting involved in shady stuff and horrible, horrible people who couldn't care less that you couldn't even drink yet.

You woke up with brimstone and sulfur around and a dingy old sign saying welcome to hell, It was unfair.

You wondered around aimlessly, you were small enough that most folks didn't notice you at first, and those that did well, they either ignored you completely, tried to kick or spit on you, or something else you didn't want to know.

You stumbled upon a mirror, you looked...

different from when you were alive, alot shorter, you kept the same clothes you died in though, it was a struggle the first few days but you managed to stay alive and relatively unharmed, you always were resourceful.

Eventually you ended up on the cusp of cannibal town, your overalls were covered in dirt and whatever else, you were curled up against to some wall when she found you, in all her old woman glory.

"Good grief youth today is pathetic, how'd you even get down here you little shit?" she tsked as she bent down and picked you up by your overalls, you barely had a chance to react before she put you on her hip and continued her way home.

She didn't put you down as she entered her home claiming that you'd get mud on her floors,

She filled up her bathtub with warm water and bubbles, she took off your shoes and plopped you right in the tub, she put a glob of shampoo into your hair and foamed it up like one would bathe a pet.

She left the bathroom as you looked around the bathroom , confused on why this random old lady just picked you up like a soggy stray dog and dunked you into warm water, and put soap in your hair.

You weren't complaining by any means but you were caught off-guard.

She came back within a few minutes carrying children's clothing like the other cannibals wore, she washed your hair and your back, scrubbing off the grime, she dried you off and put the clothes on you, the next few hours were a blur, she picked you up, sat you at a table and placed what looked to be part of a raw arm on your plate.

You stared at it while she went ahead and dug it,

She raised an eyebrow, "you one of those vegetable people?"

You shook your head, poking at the arm slice

"Speak up, are you mute?"

You look up at her, "No ma'am."

"Speak up you sound like a mouse, now use those teeth of yours and eat."

You simply nodded and opened your mouth to dig into the arm,

You'd rather not eat what you assumed to be another person but you hadn't eaten in days and well, it was rude to refuse a free meal, right?

After the meal Susan handed you a toothbrush and told you to brush, giving you a set of pajamas to change into before leaving you to do a night routine,

Once done she picked you up and tucked you into a bed, turning off the lights and closing the door leaving you in pitch black darkness.

Living with Susan wasn't particularly easy but it was better then when you were alive, you didn't have to worry where your next meal came from, or maybe you did considering Susan had a diet of sinner meat, you didn't have to worry about not making ends meet, about the possibility of the folks you dealt too coming for you,

You did miss your family terribly though, you wondered if they missed you, or if they've found your corpse yet, maybe you were permanently put as a missing person, maybe you were chopped up into pieces,You didn't want to know.

Susan would teach you how to properly eat someone, you already had sharp teeth so you were a quick learner in that regard [Although you did prefer normal food]

You would cower behind her and she'd grab you by your shoulder and move you Infront of her, telling you to stand up straight, smacking your lower back with her cane if needed, some days She'd place a book on your head and have you practice walking around with it to correct your posture.

You wouldn't talk much at first but soon became a chatterbox with Susan, and mostly only Susan, keeping talking to others at a minimum unless Susan made you, she paraded you around cannibal town getting you used to the tight-knit community.

You soon went from a rather timid and frankly weak child to a more confident person, Susan wasn't usually seen without you skipping along behind her, eventually once she deemed you as proper she took you to Rosie's Emporium to introduce you to her and obviously get some treats,

"This is [Name] I got them off the streets and I made em' into a proper member of society, [Name] stand up straight, say hello"

Susan said moving you to the front where Rosie was,

"Hello."

Rosie immediately adored you, after all you were small enough to put in her pocket, she leaned down to shake your hand, and in that time

Susan proceeded to accidentally left you at the emporium and Rosie saw her chance and took it,

"Well aren't you adorable! Let Auntie Rosie spoil you, okay?"

Within seconds you were sat in a comfy chair with a plate of cannibalistic desserts infront of you and Rosie across from you, chatting until Susan came back for you two hours later.

She knew she left you after like five minutes she just didn't want to make the trip back and let Rosie babysit you.

Another time she took you to Rosie's Emporium the infamous radio demon was there, and while you didn't particularly know much about overlords and the like since you mainly stuck with Susan, or in the safe parts of cannibal town, you did know that overlords were more or less dangerous,

Susan did not care though and immediately started insulting the radio demon,

"Why don't you have a wife yet? Do you not like woman? Then why don't you have a husband then??"

"Susan, I believe that's none of your-"

"It's because you don't brush your fucking teeth isn't it,"

"Susan-"

"You probably blind all the ladies looking like Rudolph's nose"

"Excuse me?"

You quickly intervene before Susan ends up being the radio man's dinner, Alastor tilts his head at you and bends down,

"And who is this Little one?"

Susan moves you Infront of her and puts her cane between you and Alastor,

"My grandchild, they're very well-mannered unlike you now get away before you influence them to listen to your modern jazz music"

A very polite way to get kicked out in your opinion,

The next time you see Alastor he brings Niffty, trying to get her to influence you enough to drive Susan to insanity.

It backfired.

You, on the rare occasions you roam outside of cannibal town you see someone you may have known during life, you usually don't interact with them, but sometimes they recognize you too, they give a look of mixed disbelief, pity and guilt or just indifference, you made similar decisions to them.

You saw a member of your family, trying to sell something on the streets one time, you went up to them with the confidence of Susan talking to Alastor,

You know they recognized you, you may look different but you were still you, just better then before.

Their face dropped seeing you, filled with guilt and shame, you weren't supposed to be down here, of all places, you should've gotten to live to be old and wrinkly, shaking their head they shoo'd you away in what you assumed was a way to tell you to move on, make the best of your afterlife.

"I don't know you, now shoo' go home."

When you got home to Susan making cannibal meatloaf, nagging you about getting home in a timely manner as you take off your shoes and place them by the door, it gives you a somewhat nostalgic feeling,

You may never seeing the majority of your family again, after all maybe they're in heaven or below with you,

They'll always be your family and while they weren't perfect but they loved you, and you loved them, and you always will even if you were apart.

And now you had a new family member, Your Grandma Susan,

And you loved her, and while she didn't outwardly say it, you knew through her actions of making you a scarf, bringing you a bowl of peeled or cut fruit, or something else, she loved you too.

I've always been kinda of hot and cold with Austin and Kaia. I didn't have much of an opinion of them. They had moments back when they first got together, where it seemed kinda of sweet. Austin seemed to be into her. Especially at Cannes. I know a lot of it was played up on the red carpet. But the small moments inside the theater. Baz was giving his speech after the movie played. Austin was kissing Kaia's hand. He winked at her. He was smitten.

But I did start to notice how much media coverage these two were getting, which was off putting. Then I heard about Kaia dating JE and after only a month, she went public with Austin. Major red flag. Which made me start thinking something about this wasn't right.

But again, I was always hot and cold. but leaning more towards cold. something about them doesn't seem normal.

I think what changed everything for me was May of this year. That's when I noticed some weird stuff happening and things seem to have shifted for Austin. So towards the end of May, we got those photos of Austin and Kaia walking in NY. That's when a lot of people started to notice how unhappy they looked. This was right before Austin started the press tour for the Bikeriders. In general, most of the media coverage about their realtionship was always relationship timelines. A few articles here and there. Mostly from Kaia's side of PR. Austin side really only chimed in to squash the engagement rumors.

But then this article from People's Magazine came out talking about how Austin and Kaia are "still going strong" and "very much in love". I thought it was super odd. Was anybody really wondering about their status? The wording definitely sounded like it was coming from Kaia's PR. But then I got to thinking and it was for sure deflection and damage control. Because people did pick up the shift in their dynamic. I mean they both looked miserable. You know when you have to tell the world your relationship is good and you're still in love, usually means it's not. Deflection at it's finest.

Then Austin does the Indy500 the next day and looks so happy to be around Jodie. A stark contrast to his mood with Kaia just days prior. He looked happier to be around his co-star than his long term girlfriend. Odd. Well, a couple of days later L&S publishes this article titled "Austin and Kaia have nothing in common and they both know it" --😬 I was intrigued. We hadn't gotten anything like this before. Especially for this article to come out only a few days after Kaia's PR just said how happy they were.

The wording of this L&S article for sure came from Austin's PR team. Very rarely does Austin address his private life. Especially his relationship with Kaia. But this article really highlighted his frustrations with her. Her lack of work ethic. Her upbringing. Essentially how different they are. Kind of drawing attention to one of the main issues people have with their relationship. Aside from the age gap, which is still a big deal. They really don't have anything in common. I feel like it was really highlighted during his press tour with Jodie.

The chemistry he and Jodie had in their interviews was refreshing and a joy to watch. I know they were promoting a movie. But it still felt natural. He was flirty, laughing, all smiles. Never seen that with Kaia since 2022 Cannes. That was a long time ago.

Then all of a sudden, media kept trying to bring up Kaia in interviews. I thought that was so strange to. Why all of a sudden is their relationship being brought up? Kaia pretty much brought attention to it by having her team publish that People Magazine article about them "going strong" again, no one was asking.

Since then a lot has happened. But the amount of paparazzi walks hasn't been lost of me. They always happen when Kaia needs to promote something. Which is shady that she uses Austin to do it. But then in July I noticed how off these two looked. May was bad. July was worse. I mean Austin looked like he could barely tolerate her. Here we are in August and nothing has changed. Something is off.

I agree that there was a time back in 2022 when Austin and Kaia seemed kind of happy. I believe that Cannes 2022 is probably the happiest they've ever looked together as a couple. It was a major event and a huge moment for Austin in his career, so a lot of that lovey-dovey feeling and PDA was probably due to the emotional excitement of the event. (just a theory)

Like you mentioned, something over the past year and a half has changed drastically in their relationship. May of this year (the NY pics) was definitely a turning point to me as well. I think that was the first time they looked so disjointed and the most miserable I'd ever seen them look together.

Yes! I totally agree with you that the People.com article about them being "so in love" and "going strong" definitely reeked of damage control. I feel like anytime a celebrity couple has to try to remind people of how in love and "going strong" they are, there's usually something going on bts, and it's typically the total opposite of what they're reporting.

I personally feel that the damage control article was put out from sources to People.com because her team knows that the pics of them in NYC looked like they were miserable, and so they wanted to try to clear the air.

As you and youre Dad walked out the store, bag in hand he stopped you walking and pointed over to the new local Korean place.

Once you and your Dad got home, he unwrapped the take out and made you a plate.

Stephanie sighed again in boredom, kicking her legs as she sat on the examination table in the sterile white room that resembled every other examination room she's been in. They didn't let all five of them to be in the room with her so only Geralt was leaning against the wall, arms folding over his chest. He worked for the Council, the others didn't, so she supposed they trusted him to not do anything shady. Although she did catch a couple surprised, even fearful, looks in August's direction as they had walked inside the nondescript high rise downtown. Something she would ask him about later, if she remembered.

“We request your presence,” She said, mimicking Solo's voice and making Geralt perk a small smile, “But we're going to have your strip down to your smalls, put on a paper thin gown, and sit in a cold room for fucking forever.”

“Don't know what they expect to find.” Geralt said.

“I'm going to pop negative on a test. Every time I go for a check-up since you guys went public, they've tested me for lycanthropy along with other routine things and it came back negative every time.” She said, “And it's a feeling you guys have, not exactly something you can find a scan. Unless they hooked diodes to your head or something and had you gaze longingly into my eyes again.” He snorted at that.

“They're probably listening.” He said, “Don't give them ideas.”

“Come here.” She said, opening her arms and he arched a brow at her, pushing away from the wall. “I'm cold and you're a space heater. Get over here and cuddle me.” He snorted again, walking over to her and standing in front of her on the exam table, wrapping her in his arms and holding her against his chest.

“You are cold.” He remarked and she hummed happily as she sank into him.

“Warm.” She said wistfully and he smiled, pressing his lips to her hair as his hands moved over her back. “I'm worried.”

“About this?”

“No.” She said, shaking her head, “We haven't heard or seen anything of Jordan in a while and I—I want to believe that he's gone, that he gave up, but I don't...”

“I've felt him.” Geralt said, “Well, I've felt a Feral when I walk the territory at night. He hasn't tried anything and I haven't seen him, but he's there.”

“I don't like that.” She said, “That he's hiding out in the woods like some bogeyman, waiting for an opportunity.”

“He's never going to hurt you,” Geralt said, his arms tightening just a little bit. “Ever again.”

“Are you alone when you walk around at night?” She asked and he nodded against her hair. “Well, that's going to stop. Take one of the others with you. Buddy system, Mister.”

“I don't—”

“Geralt, for my peace of mind,” She said, “Take one of the others with you.”

“You're not going to ask me to stop altogether?”

“Would you if I did?”

“No.”

“So I'm not going to ask.” Stephanie said, “It may be Sy's territory on paper, but it's all of yours in truth. Also, please don't tell me you unzip on trees while you're doing your walk around.” He was quiet. “Oh sweet Jesus.”

“I don't always patrol on two legs.” He said in his defense and she thumped her forehead against his chest a few times in exasperation. The door to the room cracked open and he pulled away so they could look over at it.

“Is it safe to come in?” Asked the gentle female voice.

“Come on in.” Stephanie said and the door opened wider, the woman wearing a white physicians coat over mint green scrubs walking into the room.

“They told me your Mate was in here with you, and the last time I didn't ask when Mates were together, I walked in on them in flagrante delicto. Better safe than sorry.” She explained briefly, “Ms. Daniels, I'm Dr. Evelyn Mercer with the Pack Council, and this must be Geralt Rivian?” He nodded, “How are you both today?”

“Kinda wondering what you all expect to find, actually.” Stephanie said.

“Same, actually.” She admitted, “I've looked over your medical records and I contacted your GP to get current records and there are no biological signs of lycanthropy, but now that I'm in the same room as you, I can understand why they wanted me to check.”

“I don't feel entirely human, apparently.” She said with a shrug.

“We can't feel humans, exactly, they don't feel like anything in the same way that another person would feel like to you. It's more you don't feel entirely like a wolf. It's there, albeit faintly.”

“Sy said I have the “idea” of a wolf inside me.” Stephanie said and the doctor shrugged.

“Sounds about right.” She said, “Have you noticed any differences in the way other wolves acted around you after your accident versus before?”

“You guys weren't out when I had my accident so I wouldn't know who was a wolf and who wasn't.” She said, “But now that you mention it...”

“Steph?” Geralt asked.

“There was a jock asshole who used to make my life a living hell in high school, my entire friend group actually, a real walking cliche. We were kind of the social outcasts, didn't really fit in with the other groups, even though I was on the school rugby team. One day, a couple weeks after I got back, he was picking on the freshman in our group, being a raging douchebag, pushing him around. I got in his face and told him to back off. He looked like he was going to start in on me too, wouldn't have been the first time, but he suddenly backed down and apologized. He avoided us after that, wouldn't even look at us, or me.” Stephanie said.

“Dollars to doughnuts he was a wolf.” The doctor said, “He felt your “idea” of a wolf and it outranked his.”

“We have a theory that she'd be a female Alpha.” Geralt said.

“Multiple Mates, makes sense.”

“She claimed our Beta as her own.” Geralt said.

“She was able to do that?” Evelyn asked, her brows jumping in surprise.

“That's what Mike, the Beta, told me.” Stephanie said.

“Do you mind if I talk to him?” Evelyn asked and Stephanie shrugged.

“Fine by me.”

Taliesin said on a 4sd once that Ashton spent the couple months FCG and them were together before the start of the campaign gently rebuffing FCG’s attempts to get to know them, because FCG was markedly more overzealous and rigid in their notions of how they were supposed to operate in relationships. Or, in short, the therapy schtick didn’t fly with Ashton. (when aimed in their direction; he’s always found it amusing to watch when aimed at other people)

Which, this is totally fine and valid. This isn’t a judgement call on Ashton or anything, I just find the talk of how FCG and Ashton’s relationship is one sided to be very in itself one sided. Considering their relationship from FCG’s perspective, I think FCG would have every reason to believe that pursuing a real emotional connection with Ashton would be kinda futile. From their perspective, he’s been rejecting their attempts at that since they met.

Ashton doesn’t really make an effort to talk to FCG about things! They don’t tend to initiate conversation beyond casual remarks in group settings. It’s apparent from the viewer’s perspective that Ashton cares about FCG, but FCG just knows that Ashton doesn’t like when they ask him about feelings and junk and doesn’t really seem all that interested in talking to FCG more than casually. It is very telling that Ashton literally thinks FCG’s behavior is dangerous to the group, but has only every brought that up directly with Laudna. It seems to me that when he interacts with FCG, he tends to focus on nudging them towards behaving in ways they approve of, like with their support of FCG’s baking hobby.

I read Ashton’s attitude towards FCG's feelings and beliefs to be very condescending (this is said entirely without judgement). It stuck out to me in last night’s reunion episode how any times Ashton asserted that they understood FCG’s feelings, and that those feelings were wrong and could be dismissed off hand. Like, with him telling Prism that FCG only distrusted her because of Mother and that she could freely ignore that instead of taking him seriously and meeting him halfway (like she did with the deal to protect FRIDA in exchange for FCG protecting Orym). FCG didn’t even distrust Prism until FRIDA said they thought she was shady, so Ashton was confidently wrong about FCG’s feelings on top of being dismissive. I think Ashton thinks they understand FCG more than they actually do, which might be why they don’t tend to put any effort into talking with FCG about the behaviors they don’t like; he thinks he understands FCG just from observation and can guide them without discussing things with him.

Not to flip it and reverse it and be like “you think FCG is the terrible friend, but actually--” FCG does struggle to connect with people. Thinking that you are an object that exists to serve people will do that to ya. FCG has said outright, in his conversation with FRIDA while walking to Jackoby’s, that he hasn’t let people know him. He has a sort of fragile sense of self, and finds it difficult and scary to define himself outside of a greater purpose, a script he can follow when things get confusing. I don’t think FCG considers themself close with anyone in the Hells, honestly. I think they like the group well enough, but I don’t really know how much they trust them or feel like they’re all truly friends. When they talk about FRIDA and the Changebringer, they talk about being seen and understood and liked in a way that makes it seem like they don’t really feel like the Hells care about, understand, or like them all that much.

So, yeah, FCG and Ashton aren’t close friends. But I think that’s both of their fault, and frankly I don’t actually think Ashton wants or expects to be close friends with FCG. I think they care about FCG but don’t really see them as an adult on equal footing with them. They want to protect and guide FCG to some extent, but that’s not quite the same thing as friendship. Not mutually exclusive, but. I don’t think Ashton’s looking for friendship from that corner in the way that he’s plainly looking for it from Laudna and Orym.

Ever since the Selen incident, fans have been attacking each other and the livers. Magically, out of nowhere!! Drama and rumors and shit about the livers start to appear!! Like, you guys were willing to look past it before, now you're latching onto it like it's your last dying breath?

Like the livers' past lives. It's in the past, leave it alone. Okay, some things arent forgiven as easy but now you bring it up to smack them in the face with it. You guys weren't causing such an issue back then. Now when someone comes along, spouting whatever they want, you doubt them almost instantly.

Everyone is like, "why can't they leave? It's so simple to regain all your followers and stuff"

Do you ever think Nijisanji manipulates them into staying? Saying, "you will never get the same amount of followers unless you stay" or bargaining with them. That can totally happen. They mentally abused Selen, it's possible they do it with the other livers too. Maybe theyre too scared to venture out of the company.

That's their job by the way. That's how they get money. Nijisanji practically provided everything to them, so why wouldn't they take that? Benefits. Easy and fun. Everyone is like, "oh, but if i were them, I would NEVERRR". Dude. Money runs the world, I'm sorry to burst your bubble. Sometimes, things like this test your morals and your needs and it's hard to decide. "They have so much money though" that shit runs out QUICK. Bills, taxes, buying food, insurance + car insurance, etc. Maybe they're afraid of losing it all.

That's something they're used to. Imagine, ever since this exploded, you turn your life upside down because of an incident you probably had no clue about. Maybe they did know. We don't know. What if they decide to graduate? A lot of graduates at once? Obviously nijisanji would never, probably squeezing them out one by one. Clinging onto them for dear life. I'm sure the livers feel upset for what happened, but what can they do in particular? Quit the company? I suppose, but like I stated before, it's ot as easy as you guys make it. Maybe they are planning to graduate soon, but too scared of what's happening to do so. Their image is fragile, if someone says something and others believe them, it spreads like a wildfire. Like for example, Scarle. She liked that one comment (probably thought it was funny or she even agreed), it got blown up, and they struck her down immediately. People spread that screenshot, and I'm sure Scarle DID NOT want that in fear of what the company would do, and boom. Nijisanji could also totally plant the worse kinds of shit onto people. They could be lying about anything and everything. Leaving little crumbs for you guys to eat up. What can I say, drama also gets more views, unfortunately.

Okay, this will probably get some backlash. Doki. Listen, I think shes cool, not a huge die hard fan, but her fans? Oh my god they are willing to do ANYTHING. Some of them probably weren't her fans until recently. They hound after everyone and anyone. Maybe that wasn't Doki's intentions, maybe they were, but who the hell knows anymore? I dont know her personally, you dont know her personally, no one knows anyone personally. She seems sweet, directing her anger towards the COMPANY, so why are you directing it to the LIVERS as well? because they said something about the LIVERS bullying her? Why would they even admit that? Seems kinda shady. They wouldnt have never admitted that, unless they had some sort of motive, which they probably did. Nijisanji is the one with the strings, and the livers are their puppets, sadly. (Ahem the explanation video with Vox and Ike and elira and everyone. They purposely made them do it knowing they were the most popular, and hey, what can losing a couple thousand of followers do? they are still one of the top ones, still can get some money out of them! Maybe using them will make OUR image look better! It didnt. Or maybe that wasnt their goal. Who knows?) Its just ever since we found out what happened, I've been keeping my distance from Doki and the other livers as well. Because everything seems skeptical, theres so much to believe and not to believe. There isn't enough information. Doki might be using her followers as an advantage? Taking down the branch (not niji jp as well because they did nothing wrong) also hurts the livers too. Maybe the livers secretly want that to happen. I'm sure some don't, because there goes the money. Everything revolves around money. You can't convince me someone without money isnt happy. I know that seems kinda bullshit, but what can I say?

It just pisses me off how people are so quick to turn against each other and their so called "oshis", only believing one side of the story over the other. And the people who hate or dislike certain livers, are EATING THIS UP. EXPOSE, EXPOSE, EXPOSE! This is like a field day with them, and I'll be damned if they're arent taking total advantage over it. I see you mfs. For example, Luca's ex? She obviously dislikes (probably despises) Luca, and that's why she came out and said what she said. With everything that's happening, everyone doubting each other, she did what she did. Why wouldnt she? All the attention on her, making Luca lose a bit of followers out of spite, making the lucubs turn against each other, maybe some sort of fame for herself. I particularly didn't believe her for a second, because to me she seemed a bit mentally... challenged.

I know Doki is the most "relatable" in a sense, I dont know a specific word for it, like, you guys feel the need to protect her, and willing to do anything. "She almost killed herself, we believe her over anyone else!" Type of attitude. All I'm trying to say is to keep an open mind. That everything might not be what it seems to be.

Queen Charlotte : A Bridgerton Story Review

SPOILERS !!!! watch out bae <333

honestly, ngl I watched this show only because of the chemistry in the teaser. like the wall scene encouraged me to watch it. Bridgerton is always a little hit and miss for me in a I could not finish season 1 for the life of me but watched the next one like 8 times.

It felt a little too fast paced and people began pissing me off from episode 1 but I reminded myself it was a historical show. Although her brother just signing her away and then saying 'shut up, it's already done' made me so mad ??? like let her react ??? even further down the episodes even when he's concerned, he's like oops sorry, already done now like bitch ??? 😭😭😭 so just #uselesss and annoying !!! I am sorry his little burst @ her got me because she didn't even have time to react !!!

The wall scene comes and I'm practically ready to jump but then to me it felt like the show was going 80 kms/min I was like woah woah woah, why is he saying all the right things... this is just moving too fast. (i want to gloat about being right about being suspicious but the way all i knew i was it felt shady, still had no idea what was coming fr 😭)

they were so cute and tender :'(((( ! like this is what the show kept doing to me till we got George POV. I kept on thinking we were just skipping conversations or moving too fast or just going at it because chemistry !!! but one thing about me, i'll see a romance show through and i'm kinda glad.

the show moves too quickly in the first 3 episodes for me, especially if you're binging it like me. a part of me is glad like yes babe! keep kissing each other (their chemistry is insane!) but the other part is like ??? you're not even going to talk about things. like initially i was even mad that he got to decide when they saw each other and got to be with her with a small ass apology. (the pov episode does so much for us as an audience but my girl was #robbed of many explanations)

they look great together!!! like even when she heard his outburst from the door and thought that he married her and is miserable. you could see both of them really liked each other which is why you keep waiting for an explanation, although i was wondering since they dropped each other's hands QUICKLY post coronation did the king not find it weird that she suddenly is angry ??? maybe i'll catch things on a rewatch. like he's ready and has moved in with her !!! but is not curious that she's visibly angry ???

i also will use this post to say everytime someone is not there in the morning after scenes with their partner, a part of me dies !!! unless they have gone to bring you food, you better be cuddling mate !

i for some reason called Brimsley and Renoylds little romance, i just felt vibes and yet I yelped happily when they started making out while wondering what is wrong with the king lmaooo. #real and also the actual power couple of the show! their interactions made the show worthwhile and i love how both of them were ready to risk all sorts of conduct because of how much they cared for these bozos. trust me their hands slowly touching each other had me waiting breathless because for a second i thought they were about to break up 😭 i wanted to see them grow old together

back to the king and queen shenanigans, honestly i thought that the king had just grown forgetful or just had old people problems in the og show so i was actually surprised when he ran out of the house looking for Venus.

episode 4 is we get George's pov and honestly for a bit my stubborn ass was still not ready to hear explanations till I saw him crumble into his mom's arms and it broke my heart. :( (i do not know what the illness is so i am not going to assume or probably read other posts and learn but it feels like anxiety is always a trigger for it and i felt like leaping in like a protective mother everytime someone put him in that situation)

the actor is so good with tender eyes, like the way he looked at her made me wipe out all of the memories of the earlier 3 episodes and go awwww you love her. that doctor was shady from the jump and just kept on getting worse, like the way i wanted to actually k!ll him. like he actually seemed to be enjoying the torture he was doling out on this poor man... with the obsessive need to tame him like WHEN I CATCH YOU ! (nasty ass loser, like when he spoke about taming the wolf i just knew he was not okay...) practically used the shaving routine as a way to threaten the king! loserrrr

i love that her calling that small dog a deformed bunny is what makes the king laugh (which is a relief to see post doc torture) and is what brings him out of this, and he's like fuck this shit! i'm seeing my wife. both the actors are so gorgeous...

also i am a sucker !!! for POVS and this one came with explanations so i was even a bigger sucker

Renoylds just placing a hand on the king's shoulder did more than what the dumbass doc's aggressive slaps or methods could do...

one night with the queen, one dance with the queen and the king was like i'm all healed up he's just like me !!! he was so in love lmao

then he has the episode and the queen handles it well, but he wakes up alone

the queen was fully right for asking questions but once again like the first heard the conversation through the doors, instead of even slight miscommunication, we get no communication. btw, she's pregnant too (which starts the venus panic in the first place) , blessings ! she actually begins to show a full bump and btw this is where i think the timeline fully goes helter skelter for me because did he just leave her for months and worse did he get TORTURED FOR MONTHS???

my girl is about to leave and a lot happens and i'm running out of word limit so i'll save that for another post but a chat with lady danbury #mygirl pushes the queen into the king's place and she rescues him. I NEEDED THAT BAD like you do not understand for a second i was convinced that the doctor would break him and the queen and the king would never even be able to say i love you, like i thought he'd somehow freeze in that moment right there (it is stupid but like i was actually afraid)

she saves him, they tell each other they love her and like i'm ready to go to war for them atp, they are so tender in the way they hug and you can see relief in his eyes, in her eyes and you let go of a breath you didn't know you were holding.

i love how she lets him heal but more in how she takes care of him when she can feel panic rise and his hands shake and how he calms listening to his voice ( take that nasty violent ass doctor)

the way they lied under the bed and he was afraid he would never be fully there for her and understood if she wanted to leave and she said fuch that! i love you and you're just george, just george to me <3

anyway, i feel a wave of sleep coming because i intelligently watched this at 2 am and it is 6 now but the last two episodes were me just awwing at the screen watching him trust her and himself and be happy with her. i'm so happy he got to share that with her

the scene where the king's mom tells the queen that he's happy because of her is so sweet because it is reminiscent of the dance scene where she also realised he was happy happy.

Concept-wise, I do like the idea of Stolas being this seemingly aged, powerful figure among the Ars Goetia... struggling to balance his twisted desires with his family/royalty responsibilities. Often getting lost in his own head to focus on anyone but his personal joy/fantasies-

...but at the same time, not too far gone that he can't reel it back in-time to eventually realize his mistakes, and try to do whatever he can to fix it (no matter how successful or not those attempts be-):

It was unique, compelling and overall made Stolas an entertaining character from the initial HB pilot to the end of S1. Making me super intrigued of how this crooked, broken bird could eventually grow and learn from all that happened into S2...

...aaaaand then "The Circus" & onwards just... idk, decided to do away with all that to make Stolas more like an innocent, pure-natured soul all along... who never meant to come off like a selfish jerk 'cause he's just soooo lonely & sad, having the sweetest of intentions all along~ 🥺🥺

So the other day i made THIS post so i thought i'd share more information about their relationship

Taru might end up a lil in the shadow of her more popular friends but she really is the glue that keeps them together somehow, starting from the beginning...Taru and the twins pretty much grew up together they are more than just childhood friends they are almost relatives you know when you call the parents of your childhood friends uncle and aunt even if you are no way related? That thing. they are pretty much cousins- when they were children they were almost inseparable they almost spent more time together than with their siblings ( both the twins and taru have younger sisters, they also have a close bond). growing up the friendship with Nakir grew more than the one with Uri, they are still very good friends but other than gossiping and having some walks and chit chat around the market they don't do much else, with nakir instead they share the same 1 braincell if there's something dumb or risky be sure that they will team together and do it anyway for the thrill of it. Both Nakir and Taru did feel pretty sad when they had to be separated for 8 long years when she enrolled the Red Moon Academy(might do a post about the whole merc system one day let me know if you'd like to see it) and they most likely made other friends Nakir out and Taru inside of it but none as meaningful as what they have so upon their reunion it was an immediate decision to become teammates and work on missions and assignments together.

As for Pravaal...Him and Taru met for a very short time before she entered the academy but we need a little context here, mercenaries in the kingdom of moon are actually a lil bit different from what one may imagine while thinking about a regular merc, some of them have gathered quite the fortune and gained a title on par as nobility ... some are more on the fancy snob side others more on the military side...Taru's family on the part of her mother is one of them(on the military side), Pravaal is a noble sure but he has technically no ties with mercenaries aside from his runaway father most likely being one BUT a couple of merc nobility with ties with the academy offered to give him shelter after he reached out for help from the academy after fleeing from home when just a kid so, for a couple of years, they were eachother's only friendly face at those booooring adult meetings.Taru's sister seemed to enjoy them while both Taru and Pravaal used to spend their time making fun of the snobby rich elders and finding ways to prank them, he would be pretty shy about it back then but she wouldn't hesitate to take the lead on the mischief... they met again when she graduated and to her surprise he and Nakir knew eachother too cause they had been training together for the purple class, she did not expect them to have developped a rivalry tho XD (and of course she had no idea to what happened with Uri) It's just thanks to her that the three became a trio, one day Nakir and Pravaal were arguing on who would take a specific mission and she just proposed " why don't we go together" they reluctanctly accepted but it ended up being a big success, the chemisty of the party was a bit unstable at first but even tho Nakir and Pravaal deny it, they are a pretty good team. And after a good mission what's best than a niiiice celebration at the Twiin moons, they sure have become regulars at that (shady) pub and it's not rare to see them hand around there- but yeah good things don't always last, have you ever had that one friend that disappears after they get a special other? well this is kinda what happens here except their drifting away is not much cause they don't hang outtogether anymore but cause they LITTERALLY MOVE TO OTHER WORLDS, she of course has the means and will go see them but it's always kinda bittersweet

Since tumblr is going to be a jerk and not let me post my cosplay, I'll go ahead and write down my review for the movie.

I'm writing this a couple days out, so sorry (and correct me, i love discussing this movie :3)if something's not correct. I was also writing this in-between breaks at work lol.

There will be spoilers, so you know the deal. I will tag it as such but you have been warned. :3

I'm also putting a read more divider cause it is looooong lol.

My fiancée and I went to go see the dub. He hasn't seen the series since s1 and I made him watch the recap but I felt the recap didn't explain everything to really get a full understanding of the importance of this movie and the characters, but I do appreciate having it. (I think I'll use it in the future for explaining to those I talk to that haven't seen the series, cause have you ever had to explain the series to someone that has never watched it before? Lol)

So we'll start with The Dub

I was favor of the dub in the beginning. I don't mind either sub or dub, but dub is easier for me sometimes when I'm drawing or doing a craft and don't have my eyes always on the screen. I was happy to see that all the original cast came back for this, as I know through their dvd commentaries that they have a real passion for the series. The start of the movie felt a little awkward to me, almost like the VAs were trying to find their way back into their voices. Frederica's voice I think was a little off, a little quieter and softer than I would have imagined hers to be. I know a few people don't like Kate Oxley's voice for Akane but I think she did an excellent job at Akane's break down in the end. It felt very raw and believable.

Plot

Overall I was very pleased with the plot of the movie. After getting context for everything in the movie after reading spoilers from Japanese only showings with no subtitles, I felt that the movie went way deeper than my first impressions. It was a nice surprise to have what feels like a less all over plot that we have gotten in recent years. My fiancée throughly enjoyed it even though he didn't know most of the backstory and I had to fill him in on a few things. His comment for Shindo after the wedding was "nooooo, he kills himself?" Which I replied "yep". There was foreshadowing for both Saiga's and Shindo's deaths but I felt that it was done right. Not too obvious, but enough that it wasn't overdone and you could pick up on it. One piece of context that was filled in for me that I found interesting is that Shindo was an upperclassmen to Saiga, and Saiga warns I think Akane? About Shindo and how he uses people and in sometimes dangerous ways, and that Saiga wonders if one day he'll end up getting hurt from it. And then guess what happens!! I know Saiga warns Akane about Shindo because of his shady methods to get what he wants, and I can't remember when in the timeline, but she asks Mika to do a background check on him.

As for Shindo's foreshadowing, he has a conversation with Akane and invites her to Kei's and Mai's wedding, where he gives that weird speech lol. Sadly I can't remember too many details but I know the way he has his last talk with Akane made me pick up that his suicide was soon, a product of sibyl supplying him with a gun and making him accept responsibility for all he tried to do. You couldn't wait until maybe a day or two after the wedding?? Lol.

I liked that Saiga and Kogami got to talk again. One of the only remnants of shinkane in this film (yeah there wasn't a lot sadly :() comes from Saiga telling Kogami that he shoukd apologize to Akane (which leads to that awkward phone call where it seems like he kinda? tries and fails as they made him a stoic and manly pride type of personality. I don't really like how cold he is at the start of the film either but I almost see a little bit of it as maybe he's been away and around so much violence for so long that this is the only, in his weird Kogami way for him to act. I do think it's no excuse tho for erasing any trace of the shinkane we have, as that relationship is special to many of us and not always for romantic reasons.) I did have a laugh at later when Saiga asks him if he did apologize to which he replies "I don't know what you are talking about". Come on Kogami! You know he can tell you are lying!

I did like that our bad guys had a more religious and cult like approach this time. I feel that's a topic that hadn't been touched in the series yet and finally the movie's title Providence made sense. These guys are dangerous enough to pose a threat, and our heroes get hurt several times. Plus they were a special group for SAD that went rouge, which is so interesting to me. Tonami is the leader of this group and aims to get the Stonskaya documents that can predict wars before they happen or can escalate them to one's favor. He also either helped develop or came across an ai (can't remember details) that he found could pose as a God and he controls his soldiers with a chip(?) in their heads that he can turn on and off at will. Kei's brother Akira is part of this group but is revealed later that he was a double agent( I was surprised at that!) And that he burned his face so he would not be recognized. Shindo sadly kills him later as he fights control for his body from Tonami.

(Trying to finish up here, god this review is long, thank to those that are still with me lol)

I'm gonna try to jump ahead to the end. The scene of Akane's unspeakable deed (lol) was very well done. You have Sibyl forcing her to take Shindo's position, which I got the impression that she didn't want it. And yet it was another Sibyl covering up something bad, sweeping it under the rug and trying to silence Akane more. Akane's whole thing through this movie is that there still needs to be laws, cause Sibyl will and has failed to protect people. So she realizes that she has to do the unthinkable and show that Sibyl is not as invincible as people are pushing for it. Her letter to Kogami was a great scene, with him realizing at the last minute what she was going to do and that he couldn't do anything to stop it as he was locked up. My fiancée was so surprised and it was great to hear his reaction, as he hadn't seen s3 and didn't have the context clues that we all have had lol.

Overall, I thought it was a very good film and great tie in to some pieces missing. I'm still not sure why Sugo and Gino joined SAD tho? That part might have gotten lost on me.

Shinkane

Sadly there wasn't much. I could say that was my only disappointment, along with Kogami's character towards Akane. As other's have said, it seems that he realizes too late. Like maybe he was trying to keep his distance so he can continue to think that she's the same pure inspector he's always known. I love Saiga's quote to him that "she's not God or Budda" so hopefully moving forward there will be something (despite what the writers say!!) as he greats her so warmly at the end of s3. As he swears to get her out and then he's not the one who does it! He might have some competition lol.

I also want to point out that I loved the soundtrack! I was happy to see Ling Tosite Sigure and Egoist back, cause I feel like it's not fully Psycho Pass without them. But! I was listening to the Providence soundtrack before I saw the movie and it's soooo beautiful, so give it a listen if you have always loved the soundtrack like me. :3

So those are some of my thoughts. I will gladly discuss them with anyone if they want. Also to correct anything I got wrong lol.

BACK IN THE 2000s:

So in 2008ish my initial introduction to the series was watching the Japanese dub of the anime. I only bothered with reading the first five volumes of the manga (L's portion) and then the Another Note novel, and most of my ideas of the second arc and its characters and so on were fuzzy at best. After that I mostly only participated in the fandom through reading and writing a bit of fanfic on fanfiction.net. I befriended one of the fic writers I admired there through private messages on ff.net ("serria" was her name, her fics are still worth a read now!) and then I sort of lurked the DN fandom on LiveJournal for the next couple of years simply by following her fandom LJ too. But I wasn't nearly as personally involved in the fandom or as knowledgeable about the series back then as I am now. I think I mostly based my ideas of the characters off of the fanfics I read, and I often took many fanon things as canon, especially about the characters like Mello and Near, simply because I was mostly interested in L, Light, and B.

I'd say that the atmosphere in the fandom was always a pretty friendly and inviting one, and that the same ships and characters that are most popular nowadays are still the same ones as back then. But back then people were generally a bit more edgy and less politically correct on the regular, too (which was basically just the case for absolutely everything back in the 2000s, of course). There was a lot of liking mlm ships and being kinda homophobic while also not claiming to be queer in any way yourself (although I imagine many of these fans have since realized they are queer, as was the case for myself), and you'd often see writers and artists disclaiming things like that you better watch out because "sinful" gay content is going to be coming up ahead, etc. The characterizations were often a bit more black and white and simplistic in how people would portray the characters as either heroes or villains, and there was a lot of either hating on or ignoring the female characters in the series altogether too (Misa especially. She gets a lot more love now than she ever did back then). People are way more chill and willing to laugh at all the characters and their flaws now without automatically getting defensive or fighting a ton about their ships now too, which is definitely the kind of laid-back, peaceful atmosphere I thrive in most.

I think the main ways that my thoughts and feelings toward the series personally changed when I reread it in my 20s were that I appreciated the manga WAY more this time around, and I realized how gorgeous the drawings are and how intentionally funny in a darkly ironic way the manga is as well. It didn't really occur to me how tongue-in-cheek and self-aware so much of the story's tone was back when I was younger, but it definitely did the second time around!

I was also a bit taken aback by how shady and interestingly morally grey some of the characters like L came off in the manga, because my memories of how I viewed him back in the day and how a lot of the fandom viewed him was that he was purely meant to be seen as the "good guy" in the show. I think I had a MUCH better appreciation for how great and complicated a character Light is the second time around as well, and I was super impressed by the quality of the new fanfics that I read, which I think are on average way better written now than most of the ones from the earlier fandom days.

I was also shocked to realize that I STILL really feel like L and Light maybe should have kissed, because I wasn't at all intentionally setting out to ship Lawlight the second time around, but it just kinda felt impossible for me not to notice there was a ton of spicy chemistry going on and a lot of interesting repression built into Light's character in particular that is very easy to read as queer. And that it was totally apparent to me in the manga too. Because before revisiting it I assumed I had only read anything gay or shippy into things as a teenager due to the anime rain scene being added in, but nope!
