sometimes i wonder if some ppl who made nsfw and ships things yet goes to have anti-like mindset, actually understood what proship is like. with some antis i feel like some did start off making lewd content and ships, but when taught about the fact that the content contained elements of "pedophilic", "sexist", "incest" etc, which are morally wrong IRL, thy end up it, and either thy stop doing the content or accuse those who do as shady ppl... forgetting that their content still exist or tries to hide the fact that thy made that, most out of fear of being accused themselves. and this happens with ppl and some sites, who have been posting nsfw content for most of their online presents, being into censorship and harassment for certain kinks and ships... some of it cld be because of the complains and harassment from antis getting to them that theyre trying to stop as no one wants to deal with it along with things changing online with fictional content, but its very contradictoring given what else theyre allow to post. and even if its because they have their own prefrences & are disgusted by certain things, thy shld know to not judge ppl on their content and leave them be...(3/?)

honestly i can't blame these ppl too much on not understanding this. when you join any fandom ya do it as a hobby, ya do it to have fun and meet new ppl who share yr interest. u don't exactly go to learn things like media literacy, critical thinking, internet safety and spotting red flags about ppl...(4/?)

considering that posting rule34 and shipping questionable things have ALWAY been a thing and most ppl wld have joined while they're minors or young adults, thy wld probably think it's no big deal to make until some tell them otherwise because of wat the content is based on. with hypocritical antis I'm not too mad on it (as they are still better than the abusive predators) and some of them can change for the better at least (6/6)

also i think it’s important to remember it was originally written by literal students for a thing for their drama group to perform at the fringe. it wasn’t like ... intended to be this completely accurate retelling it was meant to be like ... fun. and they have a note in the programme explaining that (and i do think they should have made changes to the book bc like. it could obviously be better n they don’t do a 100% accurate job and the fake competition setup is kinda ... ) but there’s also stuff they got so right like. the songs? slap. it’s one of the few things that doesn’t blame katherine howard. diverse casting n stating in their casting call that they Will cast nb ppl (and in a tweet toby said he would change keys for song) like obvs ok thts having the bar quite low but it’s still like ... a good thing. 

but also then it’s like. where do u draw the line and how much do u then have to fit into a 75 minute slot (as they originally had, hence its current length) re: historical accuracy 

also they did literally just watch one documentary and decide to like. write it based off that so like ... they didn’t do much research bc they didn’t think it was gonna have more than one v short life. but now it’s super big so .

my Thoughts about mcc14, because this is my blog and the official year of no cringe (in that i will no longer regard my interests as cringe and enjoy them wholeheartedly and post about them if i want)

overall !! it was a really fun event, i was watching blue bats punz pov and they popped off so it was a really good watch for me, the updates to the games were sick as hell and i cannot wait to see these get more refined as we go along plus see what they have in store for bingo and sands of time

putting everything else below the cut for the sake of all the mutuals i have on here that have never interacted with a mcyt in their life! 

so. will preface this by saying i’ve watched every mcc live starting with mcc9 and am . just very very into this tournament, i’ll probably do a little analysis post next mcc because i just find it all very fun !! and tumblr is like a void i can scream into and sometimes it screams back so it’s the perfect place to let myself ramble. that being said, here’s my thoughts on this mcc from the blue bats punz pov, with vague knowledge of what happened in a few other povs

build mart: so sue me, i’m a build mart fan. the new map build is INCREDIBLE and i love the choice of elytras rather than the scuffed boats!! the new addition of the golden build is really fun too! not something that could necessarily be changed but build mart is definitely a killer for teams that don’t have good comms and coordination, and having it as a first game can really shake some teams and cause a drop in morale that could affect the rest of their performance in the event. overall, though? im loyal to build mart and i think it only got better with the updates

tgttosawaf: i love how pedantically long that acronym is <3 i think some of the changes really threw players into the deep end, that one round where they had to break the wool in the targets to get through especially, and terra swoop force Definitely threw some players that are otherwise cracked for a loop, especially if they were unfamiliar with the map, but this one was also super fun to watch!! definitely a good game for the first half of the event

sky battle: at long last, sky battle returns <3 as a shameless inniter sky battle is one of my favourite games simply because i Know tommy will always pop off, but it’s also such a fun twist on classic minigames like sky wars and a faster version of skyblockle done super well! i like the new map layout a ton as well, the little towers in the middle ring plus the structure of the innermost ring made for some really interesting plays all around. this game’s another one that can go south really fast if your team comms aren’t great, but definitely more forgiving than build battle, and a hell of a lot more adrenaline-inducing!! in terms of the updates i think this one was probably one of the best, tied with build mart.

survival games: survival games was CRAZY i do think this is one where you need to get good rng with your loot pickups as well as have good team coordination but it’s definitely a really fun pvp game!! only thing i will say is it can be a bit bland next to the rest of the crazy games in mcc but it’s definitely a classic and depending on how its played (cough red rabbits cough) can definitely turn things wayyyy around for a team!! very high stakes in a fun way

hole in the wall: god :sob: the glitch. ohhhh hbomb you and your glitchy ways. this glitch was definitely a new one compared to the usual “spam-space-bar-and-pray” glitch that our dearest tommyinnit has taken advantage of before, but i honestly can’t really blame him too much for using it? it did give aqua an advantage but it’s only slightly different from falsesymmetry using the spam-space glitch to win a few rounds of hitw in a more recent mcc (would have to double check which one, but i do remember hbomb taking note of this when he was reviewing mcc vods the day after). hole in the wall has been a glitchy bastard for as long as it’s been in mcc and it was truly hilarious to see hbomb clip through walls, so - all in all i think if the glitch could be fixed that’d be great but it was still a fun watch! also, pete zahutt is CRACKED.

ace race: whoo boy. ace race. honest opinion? i think the map is REALLY cool and has a lot of potential, but there was a lot of confusion and bugs that need to be fixed for next time - the fact that the players could reset back to a previous checkpoint, the general confusion over where to go which cld mean they need to add more directional arrows. overall i’m really really excited to see how people will perform on this map when they’re more familiar with it and some of the kinks have been worked out on the developer end. i do think scott had a Huge advantage here and it was really prominent due to the fact that this was a new map for everyone aside from him, albeit him seeing a much earlier version that wasn’t the same as the version that existed in the event, and it would definitely be wise of noxcrew and the developing team in the future to be more aware of how much involvement scott has in the gameplay side of testing. the general confusion and checkpoint resetting also did Not help anyone and i do think a few teams really lost out this event because of the issues with ace race, but this map has a ton of potential and im really excited to see what they do with it in the future.

battle box: oooo battle box !! this one didn’t really leave too big of an impression on me but the new map was definitely interesting!! the fact that the way to get to the middle was a bit unclear was ,, definitely interesting to watch :sob: but you can’t go wrong with battle box to be honest. solid team pvp game!

parkour tag: PARKOUR TAG!!! having this as the final game was so fun :] the map they had this time was complicated which definitely comes with its pros and cons: pros being that it creates potential for a lot of really interesting routes and unique usage of the area and environment, and cons being that it can feel really cluttered and overwhelming especially when its your first time playing. overall i liked the fact that it was busier but i think striking a better balance between full and barren could really elevate parkour tag from a good game to a great game

dodgebolt: blue bats </3 they had a fantastic run in the games and had an awful dodgebolt and sometimes that’s how it shakes down !! i always always love the unpredictability to the final winner that dodgebolt gives - the first place team pointswise isnt guaranteed a win, reverse sweeps have happened multiple times in the past, and dodgebolt is always nail-bitingly exciting to watch!

misc thoughts: i do think aqua had an advantage but from the sounds of things scott and noxcrew will be taking genuine criticism into account for next time and have learned from this event, i DONT think that removing parkour warrior was unfair because it wasn’t an event that noxcrew could ever successfully balance by making it hard enough to not have the same guy dominating every event and creating a gap, especially when played later, that no other players had HOPE of reducing and i think parkour tag was a really really fun alternative to it especially since runner and hunter play to diff strengths of the team members and it has a bit more strategy to it plus team comms than parkour warrior did, and i think build mart is a good game and i WILL die on this hill

this was how the day’s events unfolded:

- after class, i thanked sensei sincerely and lingered, saying i had a qn for him. he seemed to know what i wanted to ask and looked down at his desk

- came closer to him and read out the two lines i had tried practising ytd to ask if we cld be friends, saying id like to practise speaking japanese with him

- he said we cld interact over text, that’s OK w him. i said that sounds great, do you have an email address i cld reach you at? and passed him my notebook to write it down on

- he said he doesnt use email. wld facebook be ok?

- i said i dont have facebook. and that exchanging phone numbers wld be too private right?

- he agreed and, i suggested the email address idea again and he said he rly doesnt use email. wld i have LINE or telegram?

- i said i didnt have LINE, but i had telegram. i don’t use it often but wld check my username. he pulled out his phone and opened the telegram app, passing it to me to key in my telegram username

- he then sent me a “こんにちは。” text to link us up over telegram

- at this point, i shd have thanked him and taken my leave. but ME, being the IMPULSIVE IDIOT I AM, ruined it by asking if him if it was OK to ask him out some time to practise speaking

- he broke eye contact with me (and tbh, he wasn’t really looking at me during the whole exchange; he was looking down and all around) and said something in japanese, which i didn’t understand except for “ありません” so i understood that it was a negative reply. he then said it in english again, still without looking at me: “i don’t go out much”

- i awkwardly left, gathering all my stuff in a hurry, and said thank you and bye

- treats me differently from the other students. he’s fairly casual with the others but doesn’t get casual/personal with me. eg. he’ll ask what the other students are doing (are they working, are they still in school, where their families are etc) but he only ever asks me class-related questions, which means im very much just a student in his eyes —> it’s possible though that he’s attracted and this is a boundary he’s setting for himself

- didn’t make much eye contact with me when i “asked him out”, as if he didn’t want to look at me because i made him uncomfortable —> again, possible that he was just shy or was worried about that conversation being overheard

let me rationalize my feelings. why am i attracted to him?

situational reasons

1) a lot of shit is lost in translation — he’s japanese and thus kinda exotic, no lie. also since english isn’t his first language, i can’t properly scrutinise what he’s saying and be critical abt his speech, like i usually am

2) im on leave and thus in a holiday mood, and everyone and everything is just lovelier

3) i work in a female-dominated environment and ive never felt attracted to any of the few men there, so i crush on the first decent male specimen i come across beyond my existing social circles

4) the teacher-student situation makes me feel safe. i trust people older and in a more senior position than myself to respond to my feelings responsibly lol. so because of this unique position im in, i was bolder about my feelings

the sensei himself

1) similar sense of humour, or at least it appears that we laugh at the same things despite the language barrier

2) i like what ive learnt about him in class so far: that he grew up in shikoku and is a countryside-to-city boy, went to uni in yokohama, some of his family is in kagawa and some are in tokyo, is the middle child, has a younger and older brother, gets his shirts from uniqlo and his shoes from crocs, that he has quit smoking, knows the floors and stores of takashimaya inside out like a loser with nothing better to remember, is fairly localized with his grasp of singlish

3) physical appearance — slim build and monolids, my favourite. im always a sucker for east asian boys with monolids. he has beautiful eyes and a gorgeous hairline. i thought he was handsome the first time i saw him but it was far from love/lust at first sight — more like the way that i look at faces and take mental snapshots of them because i think theyre pretty

4) his propriety and work ethic — the usual japanese hard worker, comes early for everything and is very prepared, works hard and long hours. we actually met a week before our first class tgt bcos he saw me in the school’s lobby looking a little lost and came to ask if i needed assistance. was then surprised when i saw him in the classroom a week later

why i should get over my feelings

1) straight up always thought male teachers were some of the most unattractive ppl on the planet lol. never thought id crush so hard on one

2) we don’t even speak the same language 🙃

3) given his age, he’s probably married or already has a long-term girlfriend

4) he’s possibly gay lol but he seems to look at things thru a heteronormative lens so that’s unlikely

5) 9 year age gap lol

6) maybe he isn’t attracted, and is just kind to me because im a student and he enjoys how participative and engaged i am. im also a little faster than the other students, which is sort of a “compliment” as to how well he teaches

7) im just trapped in a situation where i dont go out and meet people much, so i develop crushes on the slightest things
