"Penelope should have chosen Debling!"
My sister in Christ. . .he literally dumped her???
Like just before Colin Bridgerton was on his knees after outrunning her carriage to profess how he can't stop thinking about her in his love me, choose me, I'm yours speech, Debling did the Regency equivalent of calling her a floozy who would undoubtedly cheat on him when he abandoned her for several years to chase his passions (because she would never be one of said passions since she asked outright if he could ever come to care for her and he went 'hmmmm seems unlikely! good thing you have solitary hobbies to occupy you instead!') when he has been given 0 evidence of such other than realizing she liked to look out the window because she had a crush on the boy across the street. I was ready to challenge that man to a duel for Pen's honor
His feelings for her were middling at best, I mean Christ on a Pogostick, after he asked her mum for permission to propose he isn't even happy when he opens the door and Pen is there? She's looking like a snack- nay, a whole ass MEAL, and he can't even smile? He just nods at her and dips the fuck out? You don't think it would kill Penelope to know that both her sisters have husbands who absolutely adore them and she's out here with an absent dude who likely won't even write to her?
Portia's 'Love is make believe!' speech is so transparently full of shit when you realize that we've got Dankworth who is so obsessed with Prudence that he makes heart eyes at her every waking moment and considers her his little bonbon and Albion who loves Phillipa so much that he was waiting for her to consent to sex (not realizing she didn't know what it was) for two entire years because he would never pressure her and so he was content with finishing in his pants when he kissed her to make sure she was comfortable. And you want Penelope to settle for a life of loneliness? When Colin is so besotted with her that he dreams of her and breaks every societal expectation in the book as a notorious People Pleaser to run after her and cannot even wait for the morning after being intimate with her to introduce her as his wife to his family in the middle of the night? You want her to turn down Mr "When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible" Bridgerton? For LORD PENGUIN?
Be so serious right now
#polin#bridgerton#penelope featherington#colin bridgerton#lord debling#good old alfie d giving us absolutely NOTHING#'it would be so great to have a husband who is never there so I can live my life in peace!!!!' like. . .are you sure. . .you like men?#as a queer woman i get it: he'd be great for a wlw because like byeeeeee who needs love from a man when i can be left alone w/ my hot besti#but like. . .penelope wants love. . .and she DESERVES love and she wants her husband to love her!!!!#the featherington husbands are obsessed with their wives and you want pen to be out here alone in a big house? for why?????#tell me you hate penelope featherington without telling me you hate penelope featherington#she deserves her hot ass husband who finds her in every room and event they're in and hypes her up and eats the same food she does#so he can taste what she tastes#and kiss all over her and take her on his travels and show her the world and inform her that she's fantastic and kiss her all the time#and show her how much he wants her no matter where they are#LIKE BE FORREAL#you really want penelope out here with an absent husband so she can keep writing a gossip column that makes her cry all the time?#byeeeeeeee

This is a new episode of "all Polin first times we didn't see" and these is a mix of stuff, including at least one request.
It's after Pen has giving birth, some months have already passes but Colin feels inspired that afternoon. He can't read, can't write, all he can think about is how much his gorgeous wife is looking absolutely ethereal in the new dressing gown - blue Bridgerton of course.
But he knows that Pen would look even better naked. So with that goal in mind, he closes the door of the studio in which both him and Pen are working at the moment. No distractions allowed. The baby is in safe hands at the moment and they have a couple of hours before dinner. He'd love to have more time for what he has in mind but it will do.
Pen now follows his eyes with interest, and when Colin is now in her space, she gets up. Colin very carefully proceed to put everything in order until the desk is empty. Then, he methodically removes her dress, stay and camisole until she is naked. He kisses her deeply before lifting her up (Pen does squee in surprise at this) and puts her on the desk.
He remains dressed, because he is not important right now. It's all about her. His Goddess. He kisses her again, and then he explores every inch of her body with his fingers. The lips, the curve of her neck, her back, her gorgeous thighs, her absolutely breathtaking breast - even more now that she is feeding their son - where her nipples are already leaking. He has plan for those buds, but before he needs to go down on her stomach.
When he is there, he kisses her womb. He murmurs a prayer in thanks because she is safe and healthy as well as their son, before going back up with his lips, catching her nipples along the way. The looks at her, a question in his eyes but Pen knows already and trust him with her life so she nods, and Colin start to suck. He is surprised that her milk is warm - but more than anything, he marvels at women and particularly Pen, because what she did with their son is nothing short of a miracle.
These couple of hours are just about her. After she is wriggling for the emotion and the arousal his actions are causing her, he goes on his knees to taste his absolution. He opens her legs to make space for him and firstly he kisses her all around, before truly eating her with lips and tongue until she cries out loud and make him feel like a giant for making her feel so much pleasure.
When he knows she is close, he aids her with his fingers, like he did in the carriage and during their first time, until she is coming loudly. But he is now done. Nit even close. He wait for her to calm down, before starting repeating the same cycle. All over again. A second time. A third time. By the fourth she is collapsed on the desk, can't move, can't think, she can only feel. And when she comes that time, he gets flooded by her sacred juices, re-baptized in her name.
It's sinful to think as much but he can't help himself. He comes untouched in that moment, in his breeches, and he cleans her up wit his tie, before redressing her.
"What about you?" She asks and those are the first words beside moans she has spoken since they have started. Colin looks at her "it was not about me" but he agrees that she can do it to him too one day. In the end, every Goddess needs her own God.
What is a first you want me to write about them? (And if you want to play a game, how many first did I include?)

still thinking about how important EYE CONTACT between Pen and Colin has been this season and how it represents their connection, like they are always looking each other in the eye, the “are we not friends?” in the garden, the moment right before Debling takes her away to dance, the confession in the carriage and the moments between kisses, the whole mirror intimacy scene, how they loose each other in the other’s gaze at the altar, or how they don’t break eye contact during their wedding dance
so it hurts all the more when, the first time they see each other after the LW reveal, the first thing Pen says to him is “Colin, will you at least look at me?” and he refuses to do so

Top Polin moments from part 1. I can't put them in any particular order because I really LOVED ALL of them. Truly. But there is obviously a top favorite. If it's not everyone's #1 I don't know what you've been watching.
Carriage. Need we say more?! This is the top Polin moment of part 1. The way I finished the season around 6:30 in the morning and then proceeded to watch the carriage scene over and over for about an hour straight before I had to leave for work. They told us we weren't ready and they were right. I'm still not ready and I must have watched it hundreds of times. The rollercoaster of emotions from the anger and desperation to the despair to pure love and laughing together. Not to mention I think this has to be one of the longest Bridgerton love scenes (besides Simon and Daphne's honeymoon probably). It was the hottest make-out sesh followed by some special finger time I've ever seen. The way that you know they're both gonna be kinky too. The hair tugging and smirk. The AFTERCARE. Good god. I can't. It's fantastic. The way you can see in Colin's eyes that he's like "she's my wife now and forever" before he climbs out of the carriage. He's like maybe I should ask her lol. This will be my favorite scene of Bridgerton forever until part 2 comes out probably and then it might get topped.
Now in no particular order:
2. Cake. I really want to know what was going through Luke Newton's mind when he was watching her lick icing off her fingers. Because...the boy was hungry. You can't tell me he wasn't thinking about just how her mouth tastes but other parts too. You know he was. Also throwback to season 1 when Marina told Pen babies basically came from cake lol. And then Colin bought the same cake just to taste what she tasted and he LICKED HIS FINGER just like her and then looked at her. Like...bro be more subtle please.
3. "Shall we gallop on?" The two of them laughing together is something I absolutely ADORE about them. Colin and his dad jokes. I don't find dad jokes funny unless they're coming from Colin Bridgerton's mouth and obviously so does Pen. Even in the market when they giggle about their first meeting. PLEASE. Giving me life. The other two couples were too serious for me. This couple DGAF about propriety. Obviously.
4. Drawing Room Lesson and Cutting of the Hand. From beginning to end. Another rollercoaster of emotion. The fact that Pen no longer feels comfortable in Bridgerton House (like bitch you belong there don't even) to Colin's hand on her back. Had to rewind that a few times in the initial watch. And then he's setting the scene pretending they're at a ball and telling her to flirt with him. The eyes. A confession that's not really a confession from Pen. Colin rushing her out of the room. Her reading the journals (naughty Pen) and then we know what happens. He literally holds her hand. You cannot convince me he doesn't curve his fingers against hers to pull her in.
5. First Kiss. Perfect in every way. It's a moment I loved in the book and it was nearly identical and I loved seeing it play out on screen. The quick peck. The going back in for seconds and thirds. The hand lingering on her face. The way you can see he's fundamentally changed. GAH!
6. The Dream. I want to know what other dreams Colin's had because it seems like there was definitely more than one because he said he prefers sleep to being awake so....there's definitely more than what we were graced with. The way he pushed her up against the door frame. Good Lord Colin.
Honorable mentions: literally every other Polin moment. The savior moment with the balloon. The first lesson while promenading and then again in the market when she thinks she can't be taught and he's like "you already know what you're doing babe." Post kiss under the willow tree. Colin's conversation with Mama Bridgerton even though Pen wasn't super involved. It was magnificent. Colin getting interrupted by Debling when he wants to ask Pen if she feels the same way and he just can't help but stare at her lips and totally forget what he came there to do. Pen literally looked at him scared that he was about to eat her face. And then him sad and depressed watching them dance like he just lost his wife.

It’s Polin Season
*Spoilers ahead for Bridgerton Season 3 part 1*
so i finished part 1 and oh my god. it was great. i’m gonna rewatch it later, but i want to list some of my favorite things after first watch (i’ll probably forget things I have been awake all night and am sleep deprived but oh well)
colin and el being elusive with one another about their activities
colin having a wet dream after one kiss
colin groping penelope like she was gonna float away
penelope’s new wardrobe and hair (they suit her so well)
PRUDANK
FROHN
phillipa not understanding how a baby is made or born and wondering why her husband has to change his pants after they kiss
surprisingly the music choices! when they were initially released i was wary but they all seem to fit the moment (aside from dynamite which was kinda just there?)
the carriage ride was even better than i imagined and i have imagined it many different ways so bravo team
ending with an almost direct book quote (for gods sake penelope featherington are you going to marry me or not?) chefs kiss. absolutely zero notes
for the show i’m glad the whistledown reveal wasn’t before the carriage scene it wouldn’t have made sense and there wouldn’t have been enough time to resolve it
honestly cressida makes much more sense as a character to me this season but it still doesn’t excuse her being a bully ( i like her but i love pen so)
marcus anderson seems like a good match for violet and i want to learn more about him
we got to see happy kanthony without them overshadowing the new couple (much like daphne in the first season)
things i didn’t like very much
another plot about benedict sleeping with some woman who will no longer be relevant next season
cressida being straight. this is wrong, do it again and get it right this time.
i honestly would have preferred penelope break off the engagement because she’s still in love with colin than debling doing it for her, but the tension cause of the broken engagement was sweet
though i’m glad kanthony wasn’t overused i still wish they showed up more in part 1, i know they will be back but still. at least one other episode
lady danbury and penelope’s relationship isn’t as strong as it is in the books. mind you polin names their first kid after her.
summary:
with what I have seen so far i almost wish we had gotten weekly releases instead. ideally we’d get the whole thing at once but if that wasn’t an option weekly would have been nice. i’m kinda tired of the binge model. overall i loved part 1 and will definitely be rewatching it later
more thoughts to come! thank you nicola and luke for doing our polin justice

Having rewatched Bridgerton season 3 … way too many times now 😂 I think I have finally figured out one of the reasons it feels…off.
To be fair, it is my favorite season. I enjoyed it. But it did not feel like Bridgerton to me and I think the main reason (aside from the choppy editing) is the writing itself.
This season, the society events felt necessary to make the characters come together. Quick, cheap ways to force Colin and Penelope together, to force the plot advancing. Whereas in other seasons, the characters themselves were in control, moving the plot forward or backward based on their choices (or refusal to choose).
It was as if they knew the story they wanted - let’s get Debling in to make Colin jealous, let’s get Colin and Pen together by e4 - then had to reverse engineer on the backend how to make it happen.
…which I understand is plotting and writing, 100%, but it did not feel organic in the slightest. It was always too convenient a moment. Very much “and then they kiss!” moments.
The only time I felt it worked organically in a subtle way (showing, not telling) was when Violet told Colin Pen was getting a proposal, urging him into action. But here we see Colin actually doing something. He has his agency back in this scene. He has a choice. Not just witnessing Pen from across the room with a perfect music choice so you *know* hammered over the head style that he’s jealous. The other setup moments felt so conveniently placed, esp when society played such a large role these season. For all of the alone time pen and Colin have had through the years, all of a sudden, there is gossip and people surrounding them always.
I think it’s why the carriage ride felt like that rawest, truest moment of the season in many ways. Colin chased her down. They confessed. It wasn’t convenient. He almost missed her.
Compared to oh they just so happppen to both be walking alone down a dark street the night before their wedding, yay, finally they can have this big fight and make out sesh that’s totally believable, right?
I know sometimes you gotta throw spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks to tell the story you want, but season three felt both over and underwritten in so many ways.
That, and the missing cinematography. I’ll never forgive them for all of the awkward ass close ups of Colin and Pen when we could have had height difference cinema.
#bridgerton#bridgerton season 3#colin bridgerton#penelope featherington#colin x penelope#polin#yes I’m ranting again#it’s just so obvious in so many ways

Back from the dead to scream into the void about Bridgerton because the Polin brain rot is real. I've watched the episodes twice now and have some thoughts nobody asked for:
Colin with all that new found swagger after his hot boy summer just makes me cringe. That whole montage with the ladies - er, no, thanks. Give me back my sensitive Colin please.
Nicola Coughlan is amazing, truly a superstar. She embodies the role so well, in all the bits - comedy, romance, intimate scenes. Ugh. I hope she gets more leading roles!!
Love that Colin drops all pretenses when he senses Penelope's distress at the first ball - sensitive Colin is still there folks!
Also, I think we moved on too quickly from his apology. "There is nothing more I want than to earn back the favor of the one person who has always truly made me feel appreciated." Luke said in an interview that the best version of Colin was the one when he was with Penelope (or something like that) and it does ring true in the first half of the season even if he comes up with this disastrous and misguided plan to help her find a husband. He's always himself when he's with her - there's no postering, no swagger.
I am a huge rom com nerd so I truly appreciated all the rom com elements in this. Nicola just ate that all up. She was amazing in all the awkward moments in the second and third episodes and Luke did a good job too. You could really see their chemistry and how they fed off each other!
They talk about how they first met. Please 🥺 it's the same meeting as in the book and the way they reminisce about it while walking in the market was so cute, straight out of a rom com!
Kinda cringed at Colin's journals because they were about girls 🤡 should have kept them as they were in the book where they were more about his travels.
"We shall gallop along" is this season's "I oiled my way right in" 😂
The first kiss scene was incredible. I think I prefer it to the book because there is much more emotional connection between them - they've been lifelong friends as opposed to acquittances in the book (even if Colin was starting to see Pen in a new light by then). The connection between them is undeniable but they each get something different from it. To Pen, it's the ending. The last thing she would ask from him before she let him go. To Colin, it's the awakening, the shift of his feelings, the beginning of its growth.
Pining, yearning Colin is not as unhinged and chaotic as in the book but I think he might get there in the second half. At least I hope because chaotic, unhinged Colin in the book was pretty great. I mean, interrupting a dance was kind of unhinged of him to do.
But I do like how down bad he becomes after that one kiss 😂 Luke really portrayed it well in the first few minutes of the third episode.
I quite like Francesca and John even though I know how that will end. Curious to see if they'll take front and center in season 4 or if the show is renewed, it'll be in season 5.
I know it is an ensemble show but there seems to be a lot more subplots this season?
lol at Portia trying to get her daughters pregnant when one of them hasn't even done it yet since getting married 💀
Penelope and Eloise ❤️🩹 they miss each other ☹️ also, I do not care for Cressida.
I've always liked Violet's talks with her children and how in tuned she is with each of them.
Can't lie, I loved the carriage scene - Colin's confession, the momentary disappointment that he was getting friend zoned, the intimacy but most especially towards the end where they could just laugh together because at the heart of it, they were very, very good friends first.
Also, that look Colin gets when he realizes he's going to marry Penelope? Chef's kiss, 10/10, no notes. Luke really delivered and I think it helps that a lot of the Bridgerton actors are theater actors because they have a distinct way of showcasing little nuisances in their facial expressions.
Needless to say, I enjoyed it. Even if there were some key departures from the book, I think it was a fairly good job. I can't fault them for bringing in an external force (another suitor) to help Colin realize his feelings even more. In the book, a lot of it happens in his head, which can be hard to translate to a show. At least we got rid of the suitor early and it didn't become a legitimate love triangle.
I do need a Lady Danbury and Penelope alliance though. I loved that in the book and I hope they don't drop it!

HIS FUTURE
Bridgerton Fanfic:
Season 3, Episode 4.
Little filler set from the end of the ball scene to when Colin reaches Penelope's carriage.
HIS FUTURE
He was too late.
He’d lost her.
“I’ve made my peace with what Lord Debling has to offer. I’m going to accept his proposal.”
Going to accept. Going to accept. Going to accept…
The words swirled around and around in Colin Bridgerton’s head, much like the dancers that now whirled around and around him where he still stood in the middle of dancefloor.
Exactly where Penelope Featherington had left him.
Going to accept…
He blinked. The people moving in front of him came sharply into focus and his stomach lurched unpleasantly. Glancing to his side, he became aware of the curious looks and not so quiet murmurings from the other members of the Ton who had witnessed him rudely cutting in on Debling and Penelope.
He should have been mortified about his actions, but couldn’t find it within himself to care. Ever since his mother had told him that Penelope would be receiving a proposal that evening, he hadn’t been able to think of anything else. In truth, he’d expected to have more time but, clearly, Debling was a man of decision.
And so, knowing what he did of the Lord leaving for three years, he had hurried to the ball and hoped that it would have been enough of a deterrent for Penelope. Unfortunately, he’d underestimated just how much she was aware of her suitors’ plans…and just how determined she was to secure a match.
And now he was torn. What right did he have to try and ruin her chances? If Debling was who Penelope really wanted, maybe he should just step back. Do the proper thing.
He gave a slight shake of his head. Thinking back he’s not sure he’d ever really done the ‘proper’ thing when it came to Penelope. He’d been forever crossing lines and none more so than this season.
Still, it did not sit well with him. That man just wasn’t right for her…whereas Colin knew that he was!
True, it had taken him some time to wade through all the confusing feelings that had plagued him the past few weeks, but the simple fact was that ever since he’d kissed Penelope, absolutely everything had changed.
For him at least.
More than ever he cursed himself for not telling Penelope how he felt a few nights earlier when he’d had the chance.
Fear had held him back though. Fear of her not feeling the same, of her rejection. Of losing their friendship altogether because having her in his life in any capacity was better than not having her there at all.
But where had that got him?
Left standing alone…again.
Like an idiot.
A flare of irritation, along with a healthy dose of jealousy suddenly rose like bile in his throat and before he even comprehended what he was doing, Colin started moving. Clearly his heart knew better than his head.
Walking quickly, he deftly dodged the swaying couples who were coming to the end of the last dance of the ball. Taking the steps off the dancefloor in one stride, he hurried in the same direction that both Penelope and Debling had taken mere moments before.
Each room he passed through, his glanced around, half hoping, half dreading to catch sight of the couple. When he approached the main door without having once glimpsed either, he wasn’t sure whether it was a good sign or not.
A million questions ran through his head as he got to the door just in time to see a Featherington coach pull away in the distance. He knew it wasn’t her mother or sisters as he’d seen them all together celebrating…something.
Had Debling proposed then?
Had Pen accepted?
Surely if she had, the happy couple would be with her family still?
Or maybe they had gone off together…
A sick feeling lodged deep in the pit of his stomach at that thought and he broke into a run along the torch lit carpet laid outside. Reaching the end, he watched as the coach disappeared around the turn that led to the main drive and knew that this time he couldn’t just walk away.
This time he needed to be brave.
Just as his father had been.
He loved Penelope. He knew that with every fibre of his being. It had taken him a long enough to realise it, but now that he did, he wasn’t going to give her up without a fight.
Breaking into a sprint, he cut across the lawn and headed to the main drive to intercept the carriage. Needing air, he untied his cravat and roughly pulled it from neck, leaving it to fall to the ground. Heart beating near out of his chest, he wasn’t quite sure whether it was purely down to his haste or the fact that he was almost to the carriage and finding out if Penelope in any way returned his feelings.
Dear God he hoped that she did.
“Wait!” he shouted, raising a hand to signal the coachman. The carriage rolled to a halt and Colin grabbed the door handle. Yanking it open, he saw her sitting there. Alone. Relief coursed through his body and he burst out her name, “Penelope!”
She was clearly not happy to see him.
“I do not wish to speak with you.”
He wasn’t deterred.
“Please,” he panted, trying to catch his breath, “let me in.”
He nodded to the opposite side of the carriage and it felt like eternity before she shot him one last glare then finally sat back in her seat giving silent consent.
Inwardly rejoicing that one small victory, he climbed quickly into the carriage then sat down and, finally, without reserve, he faced his future.

Colin: Come closer you smell good, let me sniff you a bit.
Colin tickled Penelope’s neck with his nose, making her giggle and squirm with a kiss just under her ear. Penelope pulled away with a coquettish smile. Their eyes locked as Colin puts his hands on her hips and held her close. He’d never touched her this way before and he liked how natural this change between them felt. Any chance he had to steal a moment alone with her, he would take her in his arms. Penelope blushed and he felt warmth surge through his body. He wanted her to curl up on his lap like a purring cat.
Penelope: WelI, someone is in a good mood today. I like you like this. What has my Colin so happy right now?
Penelope calling him her Colin as she pressed herself fully into his arms and stretched up on her tiptoes to run her fingers through his hair, sent a tingle down his spine and when she grazed her finger down his neck and took his lips in a brief but seductive kiss, he was in heaven.
Colin: I am happy because… well, you see, I get to kiss a very, very kissable woman named Penelope and as it turns out… kissing Penelope is one of my favorite things to do. Ever!
Penelope: It is?
Colin pulled her into his arms, and she pressed herself even closer as his warm breath kissed her collarbone.
Colin: It is. Especially when I have her in my clutches. Now if you will excuse me, my very kissable woman is in my clutches at this precise moment so I have work to do.
Penelope: Mmm, well you deserve to know that your woman thoroughly enjoys being in your rather impressive… clutches. In fact, I could be quite content to stay in your arms forever.
Pen began to untie his cravat as she pulled him down into another kiss and he had never imagined anything more blissful. But when she deepened the kiss he lifted her and spun to set her on the nearest table. Instinctively Penelope wrapped her legs around his waist as her hands roamed the muscles of his back and lowered until she was boldly grasping his bottom to pull him even closer. Lord he loved how playfully naughty she was…
Just then the horses neighed and his carriage lurched forward as it stopped outside Bridgerton house and Colin awoke from his nap, having finally arrived home from traveling and more eager than ever to find out why Penelope Featherington ignored his letters and had suddenly disappeared from his life without a trace.

hmmm, after seeing these rumours (I'm choosing to disregard those rumours about 7&8, they seem a little absurd) about a potential carriage scene pt2, I remembered some filming leaks about a potential stunt double for LN on a horse that was theorized to be his big return in episode 1, but now I'm thinking it might be Colin chasing down Pen's hack for the LW reveal!! Or the stunt guy lied about who he was a double for lol. Or that was a planned sequence that got cut for whatever reason?
idk what's going on anymore, the polin brainrot is real- so I think the responsible thing to do is to simply walk into the ocean until pt 2 drop day o7
i feel like there's been a few cut scenes so it very well could be something they cut but i also feel like i heard luke newton say something about a horse. not being on one or i don't know tbh, they started showing polin kissing and and i let go of all info held in my head before that moment.
gonna put the 7 & 8 stuff under the cut so people can skip if they want:
so, here's the thing about the 7 & 8 nonsense that i know. it looks like a mix of 3-4 different things. none of which have any proof to be what people have assumed.
there was a twitter thread of someone saying they thought this new ambrosia character would be a sex worker, added in with that interview that he would go to a brothel after the fight. they also posted or commented on on reddit when the info was found months ago that they thought she'd be a sw. there's nothing to suggest this so far and the only thing we know is she would be opposite of luke. apparently both luke and the guy who plays will follow her on ig.
here's the reddit thread of spec saying that she was actually part of the reshoots under the director for 7 & 8. also the winking, garden party, probably a brothel scene or both, idk, a lot was reshoot for pod person colin apparently.
add in the girl saying she has seen things through someone (this is hotly debated because obviously, i have no idea if she's given any sort of proof yet but it's just her word at the moment) but she doesn't say he cheats, she said people will be mad at him and it takes half an episode for colin to come around, people will be mad at some other bridgertons, and micheal is a girl (also hotly debated because for fran's story would be extremely changed if that was the case and people have said that the actor they're saying is micheal plays a different character (not sophie tho)). i can't say if they're wrong or right because there's no proof to say anything about any of it. grains of salt are needed.
followed by an interview where one sentence made everyone decide that he must do something. listen, i get why the framing of the sentence sounds off. it could be any number of things, a scene reshot later, added later, something totally unrelated, it was about the first half and it was worded badly, etc.
so you know, i know we're all sensitive to stuff but also let's remember how people flipped out with the brothel stuff and how sensationalized it was. they acted like he was going out every night to take part in a threesome. they literally had context for why he was doing it and still managed to be totally wrong in the scenes themselves.
remember how many theories of red flags came out about colin after that info and he was the literal worst only to be met with "demisexual colin is true actually"?
that's just my take on it anyways.

I am with you all the way with weekly episodes. It would keep the conversation going and it gives you something to look forward to. When the GBBO was on weekly last year, it was definitely a lovely treat to start my weekend. The binge model is bad overall but pleasing in the moment.
That being said, knowing we're getting 4 at once has made me a bit feral and they can't take it away from me now.😄
I did not know about the big family thing in episode 5! Now I can see where people are saying engagement in ep 5. That makes sense if they're following the book at all in a loose timeline. Oh no, your theories seem very flexible and not based in 2 years of constant headcanon like I've seen other people double down on. I think fanon is great and we should all partake but I've seen so many people get their hearts and dreams set on something that has more place in fic than in the content itself.
I think it's important that he finds out about LW before an engagement but I don't necessarily agree with the popular idea of her turning him down first. It's possible, sure, I can see it but I don't think it's needed the way some people talk about it, sometimes it's almost like a punishment to him and I don't think he needs to be punished by Penelope. Seems like he will spend the majority of part 1 punishing himself.
I am dying to know what LOWK says to her to make her make that face tbh. I think he's going to do wonderful things for her confidence and self-esteem and it will move her but it still won't be right and she's going to know that. When Pen, in the books, thinks about how she would have married someone nice and kind to her if they had offered because she knew Colin wasn't for her, it was so heartbreaking. But to see the real life dilemma of that coming to life onscreen--for her because he does seem nice and kind and for Colin because he works himself up with jealousy and fear at the thought of that happening, I think it could be a very satisfying story to tell.
If he catches her running off to do some sort of LW business over the Queen, it will be wild for sure. A lot could happen in that carriage I agree! They could fight/confess/get spicy and then leave us hanging. They're going to leave us hanging either way, we know, but it's in the way they do that tells us how we'll die for a month, ha.
I am ambivalent on the heir plot and I'm sure I'll side eye a large portion of it but still, if Portia does anything well, it's rising up out of a situation that would destroy most others. Ohhh the LW of it all, I don't know if they'll stop her, LW is pretty important to Benedict's story isn't she? My first thought is she will either keep going with help (where did I see someone say something about them possibly buying their own printing press? I don't think I just made that up but also I can't remember the source, ha) or they'll hand it off to someone else. Both seem just as likely as the other to me right now.
The way NC describes it makes me think I'm going to suffer some sort of way and have to take a lap around my house before continuing some scenes, hahah. If it's as romantic as they say it is, it's going to take a minute to get through it. Reminds me of the time I read a first kiss written so well I left the room before coming back to finish reading the chapter.😩
I really have no doubts it's going to be the best season so far.
I have to agree, while I prefer getting a weekly dose of lovely, if they took away my four episodes, I would quite literally hunt them down at this point I am owed my episodes and I will take them all immediately upon their availability. I’ve already blocked my calendar at work as I will be busy watching as soon as I wake up! No time to dilly dally with meetings!
But apparently it was Netflix that chose to at least break it up into 2 parts. So sounds like they realized that maybe dumping the whole thing at once isn’t a good model either.
"We didn't initially plan for there to be a break in the middle. Netflix approached us about splitting the season in two. It's something I think they're trying out across their platform, and it worked out perfectly, actually,"
Jess Brownell was the one who mentioned the season 5 snippet.
I could see there still being ups and downs honestly. Because yes there could be an engagement in 5. We could have LW confession in 4, he proposes just like the books, and she accepts. So, then we have engagement, but Pen still thinks its only because he “ruined” her in the carriage and not out of love. Hence LN always mentioning that it takes them a long time to get on the same page this season. Because then they are together but not together still in 5. He’s only seen the first 6 episodes also and I know that the breaking of furniture must happen post 6 because he isn’t sure if that little mishap made it into the final cut or not so it must be in 7 or 8 which must be post “I love you” relations.
I do want him to find out about LW before engagement. I don’t want that to be a secret looming over their heads. I want it to all be out in the open when he proposes because he accepts it. He doesn’t have to like it, but he is accepting her. But I 100000000% agree with you, He will be spending 4 full episodes punishing himself to the core already, he does not need to be punished by him refusing him. I disagree with that. I think he is doing more than enough to make up for his careless words to her last season, he has proven that he truly cares for her, there is no need to punish him. She already has shown apparently, she regrets her hasty words in LW lashing out about him, however I still feel like she is not being honest about her feelings about him either.
I read that NC said something I really liked too about how she felt about him saying that last season too and how her immature love for him wasn’t really love either because she hasn’t show him her true self.
Getting giddy just speculating on all of this! I’m assuming 7 & 8 are dealing with the whole LW of it all and possibly blackmail with Cressida or someone else. Still curious if Eloise rubs off on her at all to allow her to play nice or if she will just truly be a nasty bitch and go after Pen. Not sure if redemption is in the cards or not there. But yes we are going to be left hanging and begging for more. Unfortunately, it will be for more than a week but we will have plenty of time to sit and speculate like this again and I guess I will look forward to that.
I have a friend who loves Benedict and is really looking forward to his plot and loved his book, I think I will need to read it to see how much LW plays into it to understand how that would work now that his story is so out of order. I honestly know nothing at all about the rest of the stories. I only recently realized who Sir Philip was and how that played into the whole Colin/Marina story LOL I really was new to all of this. Hahaha!
I guess it would matter for the heir if it kept them in the story for season 4. Then I might care. Otherwise, I am meh about it. Unless it makes mama more kind or her sisters less ick. But it would be nice to see them have their own printing press and working together. I could buy into that.
NC does seem to make us want to suffer, she mentioned a camera man crying…and I said well I have no chance then. I do think I may need to take a pause and my husband will roll his eyes and ask why I am taking so many bathroom breaks during the show.

Book!Colin DREAMS he could be Show!Colin, just saying. I love the book but Book!Colin makes me mad.
He's cruel or enjoys being kinda mean to her at least 3 times I can remember (journal, church and engagement party's dance/toast). Is it kinda hot when we get an angry male lead? Yes, when he's not straight up mean. He pulls her out of a carriage, makes her drop to the ground. He goes "You did this because you knew I couldn't get off of this after the engagement", like... Dude? Chill.
Okay, later he became a golden retriever. But it's just....
I like angry Colin in what concerns his jealousy for Pen's success. It's petty, it's awful? Yeah. But it's honest. He has no purpose, he's lost, and he envies that girl who grew up with him and seemed to be no one but turned out to be much better than him. It's not a great feeling, but it's understandable and realistic. It makes him complex, among other things.
But all the "What is love?" "Do I wanna kiss Penelope Featherington? LIKE- PENELOPE FEATHERINGTON?" thing makes me so "Good Lord, get a grip of yourself!"
I love that Show!Colin is concerned about her but doesn't show it dumbly (Up until now. And he'll get angry in part 2 for sure, but he has that right. He will feel betrayed. It's okay. But he's constantly thinking about her well-being, wayyy before he sees her as a romantic match, which Book!Colin doesn't seem to do. He just becomes really nice from the moment he realizes he loves her in the books).
I love that Show!Colin fixes his shit. He messes up, he goes and says "Hey, I messed up. Sorry about that. Wanna dance?" in S1. And he goes "Hey, I messed up. Sorry about that. I'm not ashamed of you, really. I love your company. What can I do to make you believe me?" in S3.
I’m rereading ‘Romancing Mr. Bridgerton’ so I can highlight moments that were loosely adapted in the show, and I really want to emphasize how much I ADORE show!Colin.
book!Colin is just so damn angry and upset all the time, which sometimes makes it difficult to like him. Don’t get me wrong, book!Colin is interesting and complex and I do still love him, but god. Him getting angry at book!Penelope after their first kiss was so strange to me, even though I technically understand why he was (hurt feelings + confusion can do that to a man, i guess).
Watching the show and seeing how Colin comes to terms with his feelings for Pen WITHOUT anger is just sooooo *chef’s kiss*. When he catches Pen reading his journal, he’s angry! but he is not cruel to her and his anger does not last for longer than a moment. In the book, he’s actually cruel to her in his several moments of anger. Granted, he does apologize! But still.
show!Colin is just…so soft. The way he apologizes to her, the way he genuinely tries to help her get a suitor, the way he kisses her, the way loves her…all of it is so soft. I just love the way he shows love.

On today's episode of "All the Polin first times we didn't see in Bridgerton" we touch on a particular subject. Do you remember I've talked about Pen and Colin's fantasies? Do you also remember I made a poll? In Colin's case, the winner was boobsfuc*ing... Do I have your attention now? I have Colin's attention for sure!
It's not a secret that Colin is a b00b man. Everyone knows it. So when Colin told her that one of his fantasies was to put his peen in between her breasts... it wasn't as if Pen didn't know her husband was particularly fond of that asset. She does remember a specific carriage ride very well and remembers having to conceal a red spot from her mama the morning after.
She wants to do this, like every new intimate experience with Colin she is sure she'll like it, and if she doesn't, she knows she can stop it. She trusts Colin's understanding and knows he would be happy as well. With that in mind, she goes to Genevieve, asking for something different. Something a bit scandalous that would help her with this mission. One week later, she picks up the nightgown she has prepared for her, and it's exactly what she wants.
That night, after Colin returns from the meeting with his brother, he finds her on their bed with The Robe. Colin has loved The Robe since that night after the ball and has developed a quite interesting reaction to it. "Husband, I have a surprise for you," Pen says, toying with the belt. Colin is right on her side the moment after. "What is it?" She gets up and makes him sit down on the bed. "Would you be so kind as to unwrap me?" she asks, her tone sweet and sensual.
Colin is already salivating, but when he sees what she is wearing, he looks at her in awe. The blue nightgown is short and has a ribbon on her bosom. He asks silent permission to untie the ribbon, and she nods, their excitement almost palpable. He unties the ribbon, and he is agape, looking at her naked bosom on display. "I was thinking about your fantasy, Colin. I want to make it a reality for you," and she doesn't even finish speaking as Colin kisses her.
"Is that a yes?" she asks when they separate for breathing, and he nods. "I have the best wife," he kisses her mouth. "You are the best, Pen," he kisses her neck. "I can't wait to play with these beauties," he kisses her shoulder. Her nipples are already hard, and she feels herself getting wet at the thought of what her husband is about to do. Colin gives her another deep kiss before starting to touch her breasts. He is still sitting on the bed, and it's the perfect height for the next step.
He takes one of the nipples in his mouth before sucking it and using his teeth to give her the stimulation he knows she craves. Especially when she is this aroused, he knows she likes it a bit rough on the edges. While his mouth was occupied, he quickly unbreeched himself, reaching behind to take a cushion. As always, his first thought is his wife's comfort. Then, he switches nipples, making her moan.
Colin uses his hand to go to her mouth, asking her to suck a bit before going down on her, exploring her core, which is soaked. "Let me make you release once before you kneel for me, baby?" and she nods. Deja vu from the carriage comes into her mind, and he also knows it. "Reminds me of something, this position," he says while still using his tongue to stimulate her nipples. She chuckles and then moans when he enters her with two fingers, his thumb on her pearl.
She buckles wild against him until she comes on his fingers. He looks at her then and puts the same fingers in his mouth, sucking them deeply. She goes on her knees, thoughts eradicated from her mind. She gets a bit closer to him and, using her hands, she puts her breasts together. Looking at him with glassy eyes. "Bloody hell, Pen, you're a vision like this," and he uses his saliva to help him slide. The moment after, she sees the tip coming out as he moans loudly. "This is heaven, darling".
Colin starts to thrust, looking at her and showering her with praise "You're so beautiful. Thank you for letting me do this. I have the best wife. fuck Pen is so good," and she is also enjoying herself, seeing how Colin is going insane for this. She has a wicked idea, and the next time the tip comes near her chin, she looks down and takes it in her mouth. Colin almost shouts. It takes a few other thrusts for him to come right on her breasts.
She looks at him and, copying his action, takes a bit of cum and puts it in her mouth. "Little vixen," he calls her, and she feels wanton and desired. She feels loved. Colin then takes out a tissue and cleans her, asking her to sit on his lap. "While we wait for round 2, you can tell me how you explained what you wanted to the modiste," and he kisses her deeply, "and tell me if you liked this."
"I loved it, Colin... and you know by now that Gen is not adverse to helping us if she can," she says, hands in her hair. They share another kiss, and Colin can't take his hands off her. These two are magnificent, you know that?" she smiles. "I made you even more obsessed, haven't I? " They laugh together while they wait for their passion to restart.
I accept requests! Let me know what first time you want to hear about, and I'll do my best to bring it to life!! I hope you've enjoyed this one, and thank you for following me, as always <3

The Carriage Reimagined
I also wrote this and it's posted on AO3. As I watched the carriage scene the first time I thought Pen was going to say something and today I couldn't stop thinking about what the conversation would have been like had she said it. So here it is...
“He’s just not … right for you, Pen.”
“You are so knowledgeable. Tell me. Who is right for me then?” she scoffed at him.
He took a deep breath. This was the moment. He could release everything that he had bottled deep inside for weeks.
“You deserve someone kind and warm. Someone who uplifts and encourages you. Someone who appreciates you for everything you are and everything you will one day become. You deserve someone who will love you deeply and worship you passionately so much so that they cannot think or dream anything else. Someone who values your friendship above anything else in existence.”
Penelope shook her head, her tears threatening to fall once more. “You are speaking nonsense.”
“Pen…”
“I am undeserving of any such thing. While I once wished for a great love to share with … someone,” she paused, no longer able to meet his eyes, “it is not a possibility.”
“I assure you it is,” Colin uttered, kneeling before her and lifting a finger to turn her to face him again. “It is a possibility,” he said more firmly. “I do not know how I didn’t recognize it before and now I am consumed by you so completely and truly that I cannot continue in this life without you. And it pains me that you feel yourself undeserving of such a love. I will be the luckiest gentleman in the world if you return my affections.” He watched her as her chest heaved and her eyes had gone wide at his confession.
“You have always been my dearest friend,” she paused, and she saw despair fall upon him as he sat back on his haunches. “Don’t you know?” This time she lifted her hand to cup his chin to turn him to her. “I have loved you for years. Ever since a devilishly yellow head covering flew unglamorously into your face, knocking you off your horse and into the mud.”
He brought his hand up to cradle her face. “Since then?”
“Then, now and forevermore,” she answered.
“I have been a blind fool indeed,” he leaned in closer to her with his typical smirk, “Do you forgive me?”
Now having the freedom to touch her beloved, she raked her hand through his hair and her only response was to pull him closer, bringing her mouth upon his in the most heavenly of kisses.

I can see why the jealousy trope might make some people upset, but it doesn't have to be the driving force to Colin's attraction to Pen nor an overbearing point (if it were to happen!!!)
I think the kiss should be the driving force, yet, bc it's Colin, he stalls and she's uncertain of his feelings, and then maybe Lady Danbury steps in as match maker, or maybe Pen catches someone's eyes (bc Nicola's too hot, shonda ain't convincing me no men during that time liked big girls/j).
And it doesn't have to be someone falling in love per se, it could be for convenience and mutual appreciation, the guy needs a wife and Penelope seems like a smart and reasonable woman, (maybe even malleable considering her family's crumbling status and lack of dowry).
Maybe she needs this to save her family from ruin, maybe they're exposed and Portia loses the money, maybe is just a matter of reputation, maybe Portia lies about their real financial conditions to marry Penelope off quicker, whatever. This would be a difficult but mature decision, bc considering her heart's desire she'd wait for Colin, but she knows she doesn't have the luxury of time.
Colin doesn't have to know these details off the bat, maybe he finds out later on and he's like (please don't mind the informality)
"You can't marry this man you don't love."
"I don't have the luxury of love."
"How do you mean?"
"My family name is on the dirt, cousin Jack ran away with all our money so I don't have a dowry either, there's Whistledown. And *guy* is willing to take me regardless."
Hesitation. "What about me?"
"What about you?"
"I'd take you. I'd make you my wife."
"Don't play with my feelings, Colin."
"This is no playing. Say yes and we'll go right this moment to your mother."
"I won't let you marry me out of pity."
"It's no pity, I know the woman you are and I don't need your dowry nor your family name. You called me selfish, here I am. I want you for my own and I won't be able to live with myself if you're somebody else's."
*chaotic proposal ensues* Whether the carriage scene happens before or after I'm not good enough of a plot writer to decide. But this doesn't need to be something overwhelming, regardless his feelings have to primarily flourish from their conversations and her blooming into a woman.
#or nothing of that xD#the script is already written evidently so I don't know why I bother lol#this is more to sooth my thirst for season 3 than anything else#i guess I'll love anything they do as long as they make polin justice#and give us more happy go lucky colin instead of the angry ape man trope#polin#bridgerton#speculations
