pre angelic revelation, the hotel crew goes looking for Vaggie about some managerial thing and regularly finds her kickboxing in a spare room, beating the crap out of a dummy dressed up in an exorcist's gear and mask

a totally normal way to blow off steam, and one that they sometimes also find Charlie spectating at-

("Aren't you supposed to be against all this violence and shit?" - "Yes! But no actual exorcists are being hurt during this stress relief slash training session! So it's OK!" - "Yeah right. And you think your girlfriend looks hot punching stuff huh." - "Hm? Sorry Husk, I wasn't listening- what did you say?" - "......")

which all well and good!

until AFTER the angelic revelation.....

Charlie: "Vaggie. Please don't tell me that's actually YOUR exorcist armor."

Vaggie: "...."

Charlie: "Don't say you've been punching your old exorcist mask, imagining your own face under it."

Vaggie: "......"

Charlie: "I do NOT want to hear that you've been beating up on your past self this entire time- while I was watching! -and using punishing yourself by proxy as a way to cope when you're stressing over feeling like you're not doing enough here and now."

The Blue Exorcist hiatus will be extended for another month (through the November issue)

As Blue Exorcist celebrates its 15th anniversary, I'm taking my first ever unplanned three-month break from publishing it. I think it's about time to share more information on the situation with my readers...It's a personal matter but I'd like to tell you.

I was actually diagnosed with an illness at my regular checkup in March, and I've spent the last few months working in between hospital visits.

I've finished surgery, which went well, and I've been discharged for the time being, but I needed extra time for post-op treatment so I'm going to have to extend the hiatus.

It's ended up as a long 3-month wait, and I'm sorry about that!

I'll be keeping my exact diagnosis private for now, but in my case it shouldn't be life-threatening with proper treatment.

I'm currently back to work and feeling good, so don't worry too much!

[Drawing of Katoh in a hospital bed] I actually got excited for my first hospitalization, and my first surgery, and my first general anesthesia, and my first catheter... Maybe it's a manga artist thing. I had my catheter removed by a nurse who apparently reads Blue Exorcist, haha, nothing can scare me anymore (*Catheter=a tube that goes directly in the urethra) (Nurse: Take a deep breath and I'll take it out when you exhale...)

[Drawing of Katoh at the gym] I got back to the gym 3 days after I was discharged from the hospital! They said exercise will be good for my recovery.

The current plan is:

Next month: There will be no Blue Exorcist chapter in the November issue of Jump SQ (which comes out in October), but I'm drawing a new poster for it!

The month after next: Blue Exorcist is scheduled to return in the December issue of Jump SQ (which comes out in November.)

At any rate, I'll be continuing treatment alongside work for a while, so there may be times when that impacts my work and makes you all worry...Apologies in advance! My soul couldn't rest if I died before finishing Blue Exorcist, so I'm hoping to stick around and keep drawing it while I continue my treatment.

All this has just been spurring on my inconsistency as an author, but I hope you'll stick with Blue Exorcist going forward!

The REASON Katara is so disgusted by bloodbending is because of the way she was introduced to it and how she was forced to take hold of a power she never WANTED in order to save the lives of Aang and her brother. Why she found bloodbending subsequently so disturbing was because the form it was introduced to her as was very specifically about superimposing your will onto someone else, violently, outside the conventions of combat as she knows it, and without their consent - we do not know what she would think of bloodbending as used as a medical technique because she was never exposed to bloodbending as used as a medical technique.

It is not out of character for Katara to be disturbed by what is basically a rape of willpower - someone like, say, Sokka might see it in more pragmatic terms and consider its usefulness, but she has always been his foil when it comes to issues like this - I think it's very believable that her deep empathy and initial negative emotional impression of bloodbending would put her off from experimenting with it more in the future.

Frankly, I agree that it would be cool to explore bloodbending more in a less "oh so scary and evil" way, but I stand by what I've said above on characterization. Also, from a meta level, Katara made bloodbending illegal because, like, waterbending would just be too OP otherwise. So there's that.

Meet the sea exorcists au ! The name is from a side thing in the au but I thought it sounded cool ??

Those are the two first ref, still working on the others.

The premise :

Lucifer is the king of the deep, at the top of the sea creatures hierarchy.

Adam is a privateer, leader of the ship with the most infamous crew known to sea creatures, the sea exorcists.

Adam was commissioned by the queen Seraphine ( ..or Sera. Everyone calls her Sera ) to bring terror upon the seas, and it’s creatures. Keep them in check. Adam’s crew don’t necessarily kill them !

One day, Adam catch a bigger fish than he can bargain for and that fish seems to weirdly recognize him.

We all agree that Rin's his father's son in the complete opposite way Yukio's his mother's son, right?

Rin is what Satan could have become if he have had the chance of growing slowly, in an environment of love and encouraging to be kind with other.

And Yukio is what Yuri could have become if she haven't had a family that encouraged her to be kind with demons, and had been raised to be a soldier rather than a free spirit kind of kid. (Not that I think Yukio was raised to just be a soldier, but he wasn't exactly raised to be compassionate with demons).

They're a mirror of their parents, where they got the looks, they got the other's traits to compensate.

Rin was (and still is) reckless, he was impulsive, hotheaded, he didn't stop to think of the consequences of his actions before doing them. He is kind, and a born protector, he opens his arms for everyone (though knows where to trace a line), he is keen to care for others, and do his best to provide.

Yukio was envious, too prideful sometimes, tended to himself and had a hard time accepting help, even more looking for help himself, he has a narrow vision of things. He's willing to sacrifice himself for his brother, and for the world, he tries to protect everyone, to know everything, he's an amazing learner and quick to think in logical solutions, tracing plans and go with them.
