Thoughts on: Digimon: The Last Evolution Kizuna (and 02 musings)
Tomorrow I'm going to go see Digimon 02: The Beginning in the theater! I'm so glad I decided to do this. It's been a while since I got out and did something, and the timing is perfect to see my favorite Digimon team again!
I try to imagine that Kari sounds the same though. That...can't be helped I guess. 😮💨 They couldn't afford her VA apparently.
To get myself caught up, I finally watched Last Evolution Kizuna! This is definitely my favorite Digimon movie now.
Okay, I've only watched two. And Summer Wars is probably my second favorite Digimon movie.
Okay yes, I like the Fox Kids Digimon Movie. But more in a nostalgic way. Last Evolution Kizuna (and on a different subject Summer Wars) are really enjoyable as an adult. Maybe I should watch the original Japanese Digimon movies that Fox Kids cut up.
There's one glaring flaw in the premise of the movie though. How is it that Digimon disappear when their chosen kids run out of potential when almost every member of the team BESIDES Tai and Matt already settled on a career path and their Digimon are fine?
That's supposed to be why Sora's Digivice was already rusting. She had already grown up, embraced flower arranging, and decided to stay with Biyomon until she disappeared.
Izzy's already a freakin' tech tycoon. (Calls to mind Cranston Industries from Power Rangers Once and Always.) I'm pretty sure he's not going to change his mind and go into basket weaving.
Unless "run out of potential" has a darker meaning, and Tai and Matt are out of potential career paths.
They also said it had to do with Omnimon using up their power - and that would make sense considering Agumon and Gabumon fought a lot more than the other Digimon...but that doesn't explain Sora and Biyomon.
The premise was a good idea though, and I thought they handled the emotion of it skillfully. That last moment where Tai and Matt look over and their Digimon have already vanished...you could see it from a mile away, but that doesn't lessen the moment.
How can you write a thesis about Digimon and people coexisting? What professor can possibly check that paper?
There was a part in the movie where Tai is talking about what each of the Digidestined are doing with their lives, and as he lists them, he mentions "Kari and Davis". Excusez-moi? Are they...dating?
I know Kari and TK don't necessarily get together in the 02 epilogue, but...did she date Davis?!
*gapes*
I heard that 02: The Beginning gives the new character more screen time than the actual 02 kids. And that's fine. I'm looking forward to seeing this new character's story, which will hopefully have 02's brand of horror. Kizuna had some fun scenes with the 02 team, and it was nice to reminisce, even if Davis sounds wrong.
And Kizuna's story felt like it could fit in 02! It's really unsettling that Menoa messed with Morphomon's data, nevertheless that she had the "lifeless" data of her partner at all. She must have been mistaken about what that data represented — Digimon never die. The way she says Morphomon's voice talked to her reminded me of Myotismon talking to Oikawa.
It never explained where the aurora came from, and I have trouble believing that the real Morphomon wanted her to do this, so either Menoa accessed some real craziness power inside her, or there was a Digimon that came through the aurora and pulled the strings. I expected the source of that voice to be the final boss, just like MaloMyotismon at the end of 02. Then again, Eosmon did smile at Menoa at the end, suggesting that it was Morphomon, so...maybe it was Morphomon who came through the aurora. Maybe they were villains together.
My favorite 02 movie would be...just more of 02, I guess. More Ken grappling with his identity. More Kari fighting off the Dark Ocean. A confrontation with Dragomon and the Daemon Corps. And some actual stories with the international Digidestined! I loved seeing all the cameos of the international Digidestined in Kizuna. It would just be cool to develop some of them.
The thing is...02 was the season to get a literal epilogue. Even though Adventure had that teary goodbye (the first of many 🙄) 02 actually ended with the truth that life just keeps changing and moving forward.
It wouldn't make sense for Ken to still be plagued by his days as the Digimon Emperor, or for Kari to still be running from Cthulu. After all, she definitely has a restraining order on him now. The 02 kids have grown and changed; that's not what they're dealing with anymore. And in that sense, even though the characters aren't, 02 is over.
So when it gets a new movie, it only makes sense to make it about a new character, with the old characters to help them.
That's the other problem with Kizuna that 02 technically does better. Growing up is one thing, but when you get older, your past doesn't just disappear, it's a part of you that develops with you as you change and grow. Our memories richen with new meanings as we gain new perspectives. And you also don't suddenly lose all your potential either! People change careers and they learn new things throughout their whole life. The fact that Matt had to keep asking TK to babysit Gabumon seems more realistic than Agumon and Gabumon conveniently disappearing.
Despite this, I do like the idea that potential is what powers the partner Digimon. This is why Digimon Digivolve when their partners learn something new. It makes sense.
And Kizuna does not contradict the 02 epilogue. Digimon never truly die. They'll meet again, but they'll just be normal Digimon, leaving the battle between good and evil to the next generation.
Or the franchise will drag them out for another adventure. 🤷♂️ I'd watch it!

Jyoumi Challenge 2021 Day #15: Sports
WHEW, we’re halfway through! I wasn’t sure what to do for this at first, but got a pretty good idea from a good friend, and I really like how it turned out! I thought something fun and fluffy of Mimi and Joe getting playfully competitive during a fun day would be cute, especially at the exasperation at all of their friends. I hope you all enjoy!
---
“HAH!”
Despite the best efforts of Yolei and Izzy, the volleyball had sped past them and hit the sand, unable to be recovered in time. Of course, with the lack of coordination he had, Joe had gotten his hand caught in the net as he was coming back down from his jump, causing him to fall backwards in the sand once he got it out.
“Agh!” he shouted as soon as he hit the beach, taking in deep breaths to try and cool himself down from not only what he had just done in getting the game winning spike, but keeping up throughout the entire game as best as he could.
“Damn, dude!” Davis shouted out from the other side of the court, “That was rad, Joe!”
Mimi folded her arms and pouted, looking at Davis with narrowed eyes, who let out a yelp and immediately went quiet.
She had to admit, seeing that spike from her boyfriend just then was pretty cool and unexpected and a little hot, too, but once the two groups of DigiDestined had opted to have a volleyball game during their beach day and the two of them had drawn straws to be captains, for some reason their competitive sides had come out.
Well, Tai had joked about her and Joe wanting to go easy on each other because they were dating, so that had definitely done some of the heavy lifting in getting the two of them to clash in what was supposed to be a fun game, but losing had definitely tilted her a bit.
And in all honesty, she hadn’t expected Joe to not only try so hard but to also be so… well, skilled may not have been the right word, he was still a bit clumsy— especially on the sand— but he was doing so much better than she would’ve ever expected.
The way he was smiling after he had helped his team win and Davis had complimented him? She wanted to wipe it off his adorable face.
“Rematch!” she shouted, all eyes instantly turning to her.
“Best of three!” she said, watching as Joe started to push himself up from the ground, Matt reaching to offer him a hand so he could get his footing stable on the sand.
“Come on Mimi,” Sora started, walking up to the net, looping her fingers through it as she looked at her best friend, “It was just a fun game. Plus, wouldn’t you rather hit the water or something?”
“No,” she said, tone cold as she glared daggers at Joe, “I want my rematch before anything else!”
“Well we can’t change teams, Mimi,” Joe said as he took a step towards the net, “Otherwise it wouldn’t be a fair rematch.”
Even if Joe seemed to be a bit more calm and composed, even he had been getting caught up in the strange, sudden competition with his partner. To him it was actually kind of fun, if intense, and thought it would definitely be fun to talk about later and reminisce on in the future.
“Fine!” Mimi said with a ‘hmph!’ as she turned back to her team, “You’re on!” With large, exaggerated steps, she walked to the others of her team— Yolei, Izzy, Davis, Tai, and TK— and gathered them all in a huddle.
“Wow, Mimi, I didn’t think this would be so serious for you,” Yolei said, causing Tai to laugh.
“Oh, I wanna kick his butt,” she said, pouting her lower lip.
“Hey, we’ve got this in the bag. That was just a lucky shot on their part! You, me, Davis, TK, we’ve got more than enough sport skills to handle them!”
“Yeah,” Izzy said, pausing for a moment as he realized what his best friend had said, “Hey!”
Another laugh ripped from Tai, and even TK couldn’t help but snicker. That didn’t stop Izzy and Yolei from both rolling their eyes and shaking their heads.
“It’ll be good to take my brother down a notch or two,” TK grinned.
“Ok, let’s kick their butts, then! No mercy!” Mimi cheered, pumping a fist into the air before the group broke apart, Mimi whipping around to see Joe and his team of Sora, Matt, Kari, Ken, and Cody already in positions. Seeing Joe front and center, Mimi marched her way there, face to face with her boyfriend.
“You’re going down,” she whispered to him. Joe’s eyes widened for a moment, but he quickly returned her same determined, fierce look— at least as best of one that he could muster.
“Oh, yeah? Well I think you’re going down,” he told her.
“Bring it.”
“Serving!” Davis called from the back, tossing the ball in the air before serving it over, Cody unable to return it. Davis let out a whoop, high fiving Yolei as Ken tossed the ball back over the net. Mimi stuck her tongue out at Joe, pointing two fingers at her eyes, then one at him, as the teams changed positions. That left Joe heating up a bit, more ready than he ended up becoming last match once things started to get competitive.
And in no time at all, this game had gotten just as competitive, with everyone on each side pushed to their hardest to see who would win. It was tough, with even Mimi and Joe pushing themselves solely to see who could beat who, and the second game, despite being close, was clinched by Izzy setting up a spike for Tai. Once it was clear that a third and final game would be needed, Joe was feeling real competitive. It wasn’t usually like him in the slightest, but with how Mimi had gotten, he was feeling the same way. As the group readied for the last game, Sora and Matt walked up to him.
“You sure you two aren’t taking this too seriously?” she asked Joe.
“I’ve never seen you get this amped up. At least amped up over something that also didn’t leave you super stressed,” Matt smirked. Joe shook his head.
“I mean, we haven’t gotten this competitive before, but I think it’s been sort of fun. I still want to win, but it’s fun.”
Sora and Matt gave each other a side eye, Matt folding his arms as he then looked at Joe.
“Yeah, ok,” he shrugged, “I don’t mind beating Tai and TK, but as long as you don’t get upset if Mimi doesn’t want to kiss you after,” he teased. Thankfully for Joe, he was already bright red from the heat and the intense exercise he was getting, because he had no doubt he would’ve been blushing like mad. Sora playfully swatted at Matt, shaking her head.
“I— Matt— I—” Joe stammered, before shaking his head, “Let’s just win!”
“’Let’s just win’, huh?” Mimi asked as the group of three split, “You’re not gonna win, Joe! My team has this in the bag!”
“Oh yeah? We’ll see about that, Meems. Don’t be mad when we win!” Joe called out to her.
“I won’t be, because we’re gonna win!”
Both were on fire now, and the game had gone off to a fierce start, with points being scored back and forth and neither team letting up. The sun was still high in the sky as the final match raged to its peak, and as the game went on, Mimi and Joe were putting 120% into their play. It was long and well fought, but in the end, Joe’s team had just barely managed to squeak out a victory.
“Another rematch!” Mimi said as everyone started to head to where they had set their towels and umbrellas. Aside from Joe, everyone stared at her in disbelief.
“Mimi, we already did best of three. Don’t you want to hit the water or something?” Yolei asked.
“No, no, if Mimi wants to keep playing, I will,” Joe said.
“Well, I think I’m going to get some water and rest,” Cody said.
“Yeah, me too, but that was fun! We should play again when we have another beach day!” Davis added.
The group of DigiDestined sans Mimi and Joe walked away, leaving the two of them alone. For a few moments they stood there, watching their friends go off, before turning to each other.
“Rematch?” Joe asked.
“Yes!” she said. Joe picked up the volleyball and tossed it over to her as they each went to their sides of the court.
“This has actually been pretty fun,” Joe said as Mimi served it over to him, barely able to return it in time without eating a faceful of sand.
“Definitely! You’re real cute when you’re all competitive and serious! I like it!”
That froze Joe in his tracks and Mimi used that opportunity to score. When Joe realized just what she had done, he couldn’t help but smile.
“Ok, Mimi, now I’m gonna have to pull out all the stops!” he laughed.
“I’d like to see you try, sweetie!”

u got any lgbtq+ hcs for any of the main 12 adventure and 02 kids?
🤔 Hmm...
Now Anon, I’m warning you: I’m probably not going to give you what you want for this. But I’m going to try.
I REALLY HOPE I DON’T FUCK THIS UP, FRIENDS *stressing out a bit I will not lie*
LGBTQ+ Headcanons for 01 + 02 Gang
Tai [Taichi]
Doesn’t know the meaning of the word “straight” except in terms of line segments in math (but even then, he’s a little lost)
He probably saw the pride flag for the first time when he was 14 and because it reminded him of the Crests thought, “I CAN GET BEHIND THAT”
When he learned the real meaning of pride and the LGBTQ+ community, he was even more ecstatic
Has definitely beaten up some homophobes before
And transphobes
He’s beaten up a lot of people in general
Realized after a while that he’s pansexual himself and started painting his face with the pan flag everyday
Will not deny that he has a thing for Matt and Sora at the same time and is happy if they’re happy but would really like to kiss them both pls
Matt [Yamato]
He most certainly questioned his own gender for a while, though he can’t pinpoint when it started
Gabumon told him it didn’t matter what he identified as, they’d always be partners anyway, so that really helped him a lot
It also helped that Tai was willing to beat people’s asses for him
Has also beaten up some homophobes and transphobes (Tai has been the one to drag him away from some fights)
Wears pins of all the pride flags at all times because fuck you haters
Also would like to kiss Tai, just like once or twice or a million times
Identifies as bisexual most likely
Sora
Doesn’t mention it a lot, but Mimi was probably her first kiss (by accident...OR WAS IT?)
She was the type of person who, because she grew up in a very hetero-normative world, wasn’t sure what it meant to like a girl
Probably asked Tai when she was 15 and still thinking about Mimi’s hair and lips when he explained to her that it was perfectly normal
She never forgot that conversation
Has continuously questioned her identity and orientation throughout the years, though only Biyomon has been privy to this struggle
Finally settled on saying she’s queer because she’s not much for labels (especially when she’s in a constant state of questioning)
Definitely asked Mimi to kiss her again just so it wouldn’t be an accident
Izzy [Koshiro]
Always a kid before his time, knew how to explain all aspects of pride to everyone else before they even knew what the LGBTQ+ community was
Has PowerPoints to make things clearer
Around age 17 or 18, he started asking that everyone use he/him or they/them pronouns, and this hasn’t changed since
Everyone said “a’ight” because they love him no matter what
Has always had some kind of romantic feelings for just about everyone in the group, but nothing beyond that
This poor sweetie pie cried the night he realized he was asexual and called Joe, who said in the most intense voice he’d ever heard, “You think that matters to us? We love you, Izzy, and don’t you ever forget that”
Has decided Joe is the coolest guy ever
Started some social media account where it’s nothing but pictures of Tai with various pride symbols painted on his face and it’s blown up
Mimi
Unlike Sora, she didn’t think much about the kiss
She had already accepted that she liked girls by that point
Definitely had a crush on Yolei too, though she played it cool
YOU CANNOT TELL ME SHE DIDN’T CONSIDER MEIKO HER TRUE LOVE
Teases Izzy a lot because she has a bit of a crush on him too, though this confused her because she thought she liked girls
The day she learned the term homoflexible she thought she was dreaming
But she wasn’t
Still, Sora and Yolei and Meiko are her girls and she loves them very dearly
Has the same enthusiasm as Tai and paints the various flags on her face as well (became part of that social media account Izzy started)
You can catch her and Tai at a pride parade screaming at the top of their lungs
Joe [Jou/Jyou]
I’ll admit, he’s probably the token straight? But he’s also one of those guys who’s not afraid to tell Matt he looks handsome today
Has needed to ask Izzy a lot of questions because he’s like me and wants to know and not offend anyone because he’s ignorant or doesn’t know something
Had a moment similar to me where he wondered if he really was straight
Decided he still was, but would support anyone and everyone because that’s just the guy he is
You know how he becomes a doctor? He most CERTAINLY helps with transitioning whenever he can because he’s a GOOD. DOCTOR.
Doesn’t beat up haters, but gives them a death glare that’s just as effective
Wore around a rainbow doctor’s coat because he COULD and no one tried to stop him because they knew he’d quit on the spot
Takeru [T.K.]
Been the guy to say “respect LGBTQ+ rights or die by my sword” or something like that
Lowkey had a crush on Angemon and Angewomon simulanteously and could NOT for the life of him explain why that was
Never told either of them this though
Or Kari
Definitely didn’t tell Kari
Okay yes, Tai is his big brother, but he definitely had a crush on the guy for about 2 weeks before he met Kari and everything changed
Hasn’t told either of them this
Like Sora, has only said he identifies as queer - he’d like to figure it out/delve deeper but is too busy flirting with everyone to care
Brings 5 different dates to his brother’s concerts at the same time and they all have to vie for his attention - it’s usually whoever says the most positive things about his brother
Has done at least 6 drag shows so far and let me tell you - KILLS IT every time
Kari is his forever girl but keeps winking at Ken just to make him blush
Kari [Hikari]
Also had a crush on Angewomon like how could she NOT
Also had crushes on Matt, Izzy, Mimi, and Sora (but not Joe for some reason)
When she realized her feelings for T.K. she got really really nervous (because of all his dates, you see)
Was also confused because she was pretty confused about her range of crushes over the years
Tai came out as pan to her first and she realized that sounded a lot like her
She’s a pan baby and she’s proud of it (and thanks her brother for supporting her)
Gave a rainbow pin to T.K. for his birthday and in return he kissed her
They go to ALL the pride events and nothing can stop them
Occasionally uses they/them pronouns on days she’s questioning
Davis [Daisuke]
Tai was his first love and you cannot change my mind about this
Meeting Kari was like meeting a Tai Who Would Notice Him and that was pretty rad
But he also likes her because of her, too
The world kinda stopped when he met Ken, though
Like damn, look at those soccer skills
I’m gonna be real, I think Davis is soccersexual (or footballsexual for non-Muricans)
Them soccer players be really hot though
Always has questions about the community, but never retains the answers
The PowerPoints, unfortunately, do not help
Eventually gave up and said, “I’M A DUMBASS BUT I SUPPORT YOU ALL”
They tried to tell him he should at least know what he’s talking about
(We’re still working on that)
Wears rainbow shirts with rainbow pants and it’s very atrocious but very appreciated
He is gay. He sometimes does crimes. We accept him anyway.
[T.K. asked him if he wanted to go to a drag show, he said “okay?” and really really loved it now he goes all the time]
Yolei [Miyako]
Mimi is hot, Ken is hot, Kari is hot, Matt’s kinda hot, everyone’s hot
She’s never been able to fully accept this because how is everyone so hot
Mimi was her first love, and Ken was her first boyfriend
She never forgot the firsts
Attracted to any and everyone it seems
She likes to call herself a frying pan and it makes everyone facepalm a little bit
Constantly dresses in the colors on the pan flag because she looks GOOD in them and it’s a way to remind everyone not to mess with her or her community
Tries to pretend she doesn’t know Mimi and Tai when she’s at a pride event and they’re out here acting like fools
But she also loves how unerringly supportive they are
Cody [Iori]
He was the first one everyone came out to, like for some reason he’s that guy
Literally the first person to offer you support
One day he told everyone he was transgender, and while they were surprised, they also didn’t react the way he was expecting
They actually hugged him immediately and said, “But don’t worry we love love love you” and Tai started painting the trans flag on Cody’s face until Cody said, “Guys please fuck off for a sec”
When he becomes a lawyer, he becomes the type of lawyer to defend anyone who was arrested on basis of race/identity/orientation/gender like the boss he is
Suspects he might be ace but hasn’t really delved into it much
He’s too busy scolding Davis for doing dumb things
Ken
Can everyone stop being hot for a sec? -direct quote from Ken himself
He’s in love with all the 02 kids and he’s accepted this
Yolei somehow stole his heart, but T.K.’s winks send it aflutter
He wants them both to stop (but they won’t)
Was completely unaware that Davis also liked him (even though it was really obvious?)
He identifies as bi and, like Izzy, uses they/them pronouns interchangeably with he/him
One of the good detectives on the force. Will bust your ass if you say any offensive slurs about anyone. [Has gotten suspended a few times for doing this BUT IT WAS FUCKING WORTH IT.]
Always the one on duty when Davis gets arrested for his crimes and it’s hecka exhausting
---------
Uhm... did I do good? I’ll admit, I was a little nervous since I myself am straight and cisgender (or cishet, as I’ve learned is the term) 😥 😥
Anon, I really do hope I did a good job!
And if I didn’t you can roast me in the flames of Meramon Hell
#did...did i do good?#i hope so cuz these were fun#these kids are all great#i wanna see that social media account now izzy#the digidestined say lgbtq+ rights#digimon#taichi yagami#tai kamiya#yamato ishida#matt ishida#sore takenouchi#mimi tachikawa#koshiro izumi#izzy izumi#joe kido#davis motomiya#daisuke motomiya#ken ichijouji#takeru takaishi#t.k. takaishi#tk takaishi#hikari yagami#kari kamiya#yolei inoue#miyako inoue#iori hida#cody hida#i am an ally and proud of it#friends i love you all no matter what i hope you know that#unless you say you hate digimon we might have to talk then

Koumi/Mishiro headcanons
This is how I imagine the process that lead Koushiro and Mimi to start dating, trying to make it as close to canon as I can. Some, seeing how long and detailed this post is, will wonder why didn't I make a proper fic out of it. Well, let`s just say I'm lazy.
First of all, Mimi and Izzy are the same age thus, they have known each other for quite a long time...
Childhood
I imagine them being in the same grade but different classes.
I am assuming boys didn't leave poor Mimi alone even back then.
In some cases it was the classic `when you like a girl, being a dick and getting on her nerves will get her attention´ (which is hella toxic by the way. I never understood the logic behind this mentality. Nevertheless, it is, indeed, something that happens at a young age).
Others did it just because they didn't like her super girly personality and had a great time playing pranks on her. Maybe they tried to scare her off, hiding bugs in her suitcase or idk, that kind of stuff (is funny how I always think of kids as super awful and annoying little shits).
The thing is, Izzy was an exception because he was always in his own world and couldn`t be bothered by all those childish games. She found him very interesting (Mimi is the most individualist digidestined and it makes sense for her to enjoy people who are out of the norm).Someone not paying attention to her was something completely new for Tachikawa. At first, she used to really like it.
She could just approach Koushiro to have some peace and quiet when she needed it, which wasn't often. Mimi is an extrovert and can totally handle people. However, if someone was just too mean, she did need some space to go and just cry her eyes out. That is when she always went to the room where Izzy used to expend recess on his own.
Even if Koushiro didn't react (sometimes he wouldn't even notice her) little Mimi thought it was better than being completely alone. That`s why she started defending him when others said he was a weirdo for always carrying his computer everywhere.
Eventually, it reached a point where Mimi felt she was going after him all the time, trying to get his attention and miserably failing.
Insert the digimon adventure timeline here, where she gets mad at Izzy for ignoring her.
Of course, the experience in the digiworld makes their bond stronger, as it happens with all the others. However, I believe that, when they finally got back to the real world, Mimi and Izzy parted ways soon after the summer. I mean, in Digimon Adventure she is shown to have her own group of friends. Koushiro would not fit in there and probably kid Mimi wouldn't even try to drag him in.
They used to greet each other and talk a bit more than they did before, but that is all.
Teenage years (while Mimi is in the U.S.A.)
At some point, Mimi went through a really bad phase and felt so lonely over there. She tried to get in touch with her primary school friends but most never answered back, so she decided to try with the digidestined.
Tk and Kari weren't an option as they are younger, probably they wouldn't t even have a phone or own computer at the time.
She didn't rely on Matt neither because, honestly, they are the ones who have less direct one on one interactions and I plainly don't see him over the phone, comforting someone miles away (at least not her. They are so different. Maybe Yamato, who is so perceptive, would indeed notice Mimi is not all right. However, I definitely don't believe he would be able to make her feel better).
Her choice was to contact the three she was more close to, which are Jyou, Taichi and Sora.
Jo-senpai, as she likes to call him; answered every text but had very little time to keep up with the conversation, so Mimi stopped regularly writing him because she didn`t want to be a bother. They would make brief calls in specific ocasions such as New Year, birthdays or to inform the other when they achieved something important.
Tai and her started communicating quite a lot after her initiative. It was in a really random way, tho. Mostly because he is a mess and falls sleep in the middle of a conversation or doesn`t answer messages in ages. It is nice when they do talk, however, he is so clueless and provides 0 help when Mimi is sad or needs some kind of advice.
Enter Sora Takenouchi. She nails it. Mimi and her are best friends in the distance.
One day, while Mimi and any of the aforementioned are chatting, Koushiro`s name appeares in the conversation and for the first time in forever, she remembers about him.
The inflexion point
As a consequence, Miimi decided to write him (I am not sure if this would be in an impulse or after some time of deliberation). Surprisingly, this ended up being a great idea. Izzy was less shy with a screen in between. He becomes the one she keeps more in touch with (besides Sora), their most common contact via being the e-mail.
When she visits...
They spend a considerable amount of time together.
They learn to be very comfortable in each other`s company.
Their friendship is strange yet strong.
Basically what is portrayed in the movies.
When Mimi comes back for good (late adolescence)
Inflexion point number two
Izzy discovers her attraction and feelings for Mimi.
He clearly doesn't believe she likes him back, so he is stuck in between trying to impress her (example: dressing better) and repressing his crush.
He is afraid of rejection and the chance of blowing everything (they share friends, is a bad place for things to get twisted)
As a result, he becomes super anxious when she gets close to him (similar to what we see in the tri ovas) and avoids meeting her alone.
Mimi notices his strange behaviour, tries to directly address it, gets nowhere because Izzy runs away.
She starts asking around, but nobody wants to be the one to spill the super obvious truth.
The Tachikawa girl becomes suspicious and suddenly, one random afternoon hanging at the Yagami/Kamiya`s she just says:
“... I believe Izzy likes me”
Tai (the only one oblivious enough not to know) gets super excited: that`s my boy, let`s make this happen!
But Hikari is all: I don`t think that´s true.
Here the princess gets slightly offended and is determined to prove the younger girl wrong.
That is how the two trouble master minds (Taichi and herself) create a plan to prove the `Kou is head over heels for Mimi´ theory.
The Ishida-Takaishi brothers have oppossite opinions (they were also chilling at the household when all this went down).
Yamato believes nothing good is going to come out from it. Still, does not intervene. “This will keep those two busy and prevent them from doing anything against me”.
Meanwhile Takeru remains silent cause he swore Izzy not to tell. He actually likes the idea and thinks of it as good news because Koushiro will finally get what he wants.
Nobody tells neither Jyou or Sora because they would sure stop all the fun, I mean, nonsense.
All the digidestined have a party, alcohol included (let`s be real) and somehow Tai corners Koushiro into some kind of truth or dare in which he has to confess his feelings for Mimi or kiss her or whatever. It works but...
Mimi looks at Hikari and reacts proudly, shouting: I told you he had a crush on me!
Izzy interprets it as this being all a game for Mimi. He believes she is using him, feels ultra humiliated and leaves the party.
She follows and they talk things through.
Mimi confesses, something in the lines of “you have been my favourite since 4th grade” and kisses him right away.
They give the thing a try and it all flows slowly but smoothly.
As far as I'm concerned, that is how they start dating and have a healthy monogamous relationship (because Koushiro clearly could not handle the social effort of having more than one love interest at a time).
Random notes: I'm actually a multi-shipper and is not like Koumi/Mishiro is my endgame, but I must say it has always been my favourite hetero ship for both of them. I wanted to include Takeru as the wingman because is one of the best shits Tri has given us. Sadly, it didn't quite fit the rest. Taichi takes his place cause we all know he is the second wingman in command.
Feel free to ask for more stuff like this if you like it!

Digimon Tri - My review of the the first 4 movies
Be warned, I use mostly the german names here... because I am so damn used to them XD
First of all lets talk about which Episode I found was the best... and which one was the worst.
The best episode for me, was definitely the third one. I loved the emotions, the actions, the music was on point and there were almost no unnecessary filler scenes. The only thing you could complain about is, that I can hardly remeber Izzy in that one, despite the fact that it was suppose to be centered around him too. But besides what happened in the final fight, the only thing I can remember ist my poor boy Takeru crying his eyes out, because he realized he is going to lose Patamon once more, this time most likely for good. I loved the moment when all the Digimon did spend their last hours with their partners. I also liked it that we were fooled to believe that the memories of the Digimon could be saved. It was a nice plottwist that it didn’t work. The worst episode for me so far was episode 2. I laughed a lot in this hilarious onsen-scene were Kari got saved from T.k. of all people and Sora ended up infront of the door to the Sauna in which Tai and Matt of all people were in and were just getting out just at the right moment. I really loved that scene, but this whole onsen-scene had no other purpose than fun and fanservice. It was an overly long and unnecessary filler for that episode. Next comes, I personally don’t care for Mimi and Joe that much. And I find some or their character traits extremely annoying. So watching them doing the stuff I dislike about them the most is just really... interesting... at all. Plus, I have nothing against Meiko, but she is a stranger and new to the team and she got a lot of screentime in this episode... which made it even more annoying, because it was the worst mix of characters to have the focus that they could make. At least for me personally. The first episode was a nice starter. You got to get invited to figure out were our characters are right now, what they are doing, their relationships with each other and how they handle their life at the moment. All in all it was a nice introduction to the new season. But I found it was not exactly an episode that I would love. And it centered a bit too much on Tai. Yes, he was and is the star of the Digimon Adventure team, but it still felt like too much Tai to me and it is not like I dislike him, so that is not the problem. When it comes to the 4 and for now last episode I feel a bit... uhm... biased, because I have a certain problem with Tai, Matt and Sora as a trio for reasons only the shipper will understand. But I talk about them later. The point is, the episode centered around them, so it was pretty hard to stay unbiased. But I did like the nostalgie that came with that episode. Being back in the digiworld and all. What I disliked tho, was the fact that Biomons behavior seemed out of character. In the first season, Biomon was unnerving as hell, following Sora around, annoying even the woman with the crest of love and this time Biomon runs away from her? Doesn't seem right to me.
Now lets talk about the overall plot so far and what you think about the characters, now that they are older once more...
I actually feel a bit weird about the plot and some of the characters in a way. Don’t get me wrong, the plot as it is is not bad and all... and I do love and hate the characters as much as I did all those years ago, but some things are not right for me. I actually am not even sure if we can consider Tri canon with some of those things that bug me. Lets talk about our 4 Heroes from season 02 first. I was never a huge fan of them, really. I only liked the second season for Hikari and Takeru and the cameos of the other characters from the first season. BUT how they treat them here is absolutely stupid and not acceptable in any way. I do understand why they wanted them out of the way, since this season was suppose to be about the characters from season one, but there had to be another, a better way, to get the 02 kids out of the way. The way they did it in the movies was very cheap. First of all, Takeru and Hikari belonged to the 02 Team. They were not just an addition or more experienced Digidestined which helped them find their way into the world, they were part of the team. What happend to the oh so over the top promoted friendship between Kari and Yolei or T.k. and Cody? What happened to that deep connection between them that helped their Digimon to evolve together? They are missing right now in the movies, but they didn’t even realize that something was off until they saw the “Emperor” and even after that, they were easily convinced that everything is alright. Kari and Davis have always been good friends, why didn’t she call him to ask were his best friend Ken went or if something unusual happened to him? And why aren’t they around anymore? Like... they were all in the same school. And Davis was in Hikaris and Takerus class... why is he not even on the same school? Because if he would be, they surely would wonder why he doesn’t come to school anymore. (I just realized how good it is that hardly any shipper ship Kari and Davis, because for them, this season must be the biggest disappointment ever...) No one really deeply seems to care. And I also found Takerus reaction when the saw the “emperor” a little odd. He was a bit like “Oh no, it is that asshole again”, acting like Ken never was part of their team. This feels so not right. And I dislike it and understand every fan that complains. They have every right to. Next... Takeru is popular among girls, which is no big deal, he is cute and all, but how he acts about that seems so out of character to me. I never saw him being the boy who enjoys being popular among girls and also it seems so unlike Takeru to be so flirty and stuff, seeing how he interacted with Meiko when she showed up and his reaction when the concert got cancelled. The way Hikari teases him says it all, it seems like he toys around with girls, never beeing serious. That is not my baby boy T.k. and I refuse to believe he would EVER become like that. There is once more the Trio that gives me a headache, but I will write about that in the next post. Something that bugs me a bit too, his how Meiko was so easily accepted into the team. I mean, she gets invited to go with them to take a hot bath on what felt like the next day, while no one bother about the 02 kids. I honestly thing its the writers own fault that she gets so much hate, when you look at it. Other then that, most of the plot and the way the characters became are okay. I actually thought that Kari had made quite the progress, but seeing how she got stuck with Tai the whole 4. episode it felt like I was wrong. I do think, although it was annoying, that Tai fearing that his actions might hurt or even kill someone only shows that he is more mature and thinks more about his actions and the consequences that follow. I also like that we get to know more about the very first Digi-destined. Like... finally. We never knew much about them. We just got bits and pieces here and there. And now we might finally found out the entire truth. That is really nice.
Now lets talk about ships and how important it is to watch the movies yourself to understand what really is going on between the ships.
I have been in the digimon tri tag before a few times, keeping myself at least a little up to date, while I was pondering if I will watch the movies or not. And I can teller you that some things were not how the people wrote they were. Lets start with Takari. This is most likely the most popular ship from Digimon seasons one and two. There is hardly anyone else to ship those two with, because of how they already seemed meant to be in the first season, where they were barely 8 years old. Because of the things they have been through in the first season, their bond was extremely close in 02 and even Davis could not really get between them. Now in tri, they are basically always together. Walk side by side, talk to each other, tease each other, support and protect each other. Now I can tell you, as one who ships them too, that in tri, you get good shipping material and shipper are fussing about that since their first scene together ind the first movie. But watching it with a clear head (which I usually try to do), you come across the fact that some things were not as people make them look like. First of all... Karis oh so bad jealousy. Despite the teasing, Kari actually doesn’t really seems jealous at all... not even annoyed. She rather seems amused most of the time. Of course it is a thing of interpretation. But the only thing that hinted for me that Kari was jealous when Takeru told her he would go with another girl to Matts concert, was when she stopped walking for a moment. But the way she reacted was otherwise extremely calm and didn’t show any sign of jealousy. Takeru, on the other hand, pretty much seemed like he WANTED her to be jealous. Of course in the end, you can see that as a stupid game they play. He tries to make her jealous and she know that this is what he wants, so she pretends not to, with that dancing around the real subject behind it: Their feelings for each other. Or... Kari just knows that Takeru is not serious with any of the girls, given the attention she gets from him, it seems hard to believe that she really has a reason to be jealous and so she doesn’t mind. Or, she actually really doesn’t care about Takerus lovelife. It is a possibility. Someone pointed out, that from the very beginning, Takeru had a strong will to protect Hikari, going as far as to lose it in the episode with the black ocean, when she is only talking about her dearly beloved brother Tai, despite the fact that Takeru did care a lot for her too and wasn’t exactly hiding it. The point of that person was that, yes, Takeru protects and support Hikari a lot and often, but that is what he always did. And maybe he really just does it as a good friend, teammate and someone she shared a special bond with, do to what they have been through together and with their beloved Digimon... and annoying big brothers XD All logic aside, since I do ship them, I really enjoyed the many moments were they stood and walked next to each other, teased each other and supported and protected each other. They are hope and light and thus, for me personally, they belong together, always have, always will. And Karis lack of jealousy? Lets go with the “she knows better then to honestly be worried that any other girl could take her place“ because as we saw multiple times in tri, in the end, she is the number one priority right after Matt and Patamon. So why worry? *takes a deep breath* Now to the Trio... Tai, Sora and Matt. I don’t want to go to deep into this, because it really hurts, but let me tell you that I find it offending for both the Taiora and the Sorato fans how they treat them in tri. Digimon 02 made it canon that Sora and Matt were a thing, despite everything that happened between Sora and Tai in the first season and the fucking very first Digimon movie, Tai was shown to be fine with it. Well great. The Sorato fans won and the Taiora fans had to learn to live with it. Or write fanfiction... but you get what I mean. Things were clear. There was no question. We even got confirmation that Sora and Matt got married in the end (fuck this epilogue, really...), so tell me why, why on earth do they have to put a questionmark on those two ships again? Why are they unable to just confirm the one ship that was suppose to be canon for good or for worse, but instead show those 3 always together as a trio? I can not even tell you, how much I hated the 4. tri movie, because of what happened there. Because they made Sorato look like a fucking joke. Matt needed Tai to deal with the woman who is suppose to be his girlfriend and basically, Matt did almost nothing for Sora at all in that episode. When they got attacked the first time, who was it who was holding out his arm protectively infront of Sora? Tai. Who pushed her to the ground to protect her the second time they got attacked? Oh, look, it was Tai? Who was it who said Soras name in worry when the distortion showed that she was in danger? Tai. After Matt and Tai saved her from the following attack, who was the one who genuinely worried asked Sora if she was okay? Look, it was Tai, once again. Matt totally failed in his job to prove that he is Soras boyfriend and deserves to be her boyfriend in this episode. Honestly, every person who did not know that Matt and Sora are suppose to be a canon couple, would have though that Tai is the boyfriend or at least that Taiora is the ship with high chances of becoming canon. Not just because of that, there were other scenes in the other movies too. I know that this is suppose to be fanservice. But I hat it. If you make the choice to make a ship canon, then you have to stand behind it, no matter what. That is it from me about the first 4 episodes. Only 2 left.

Hello! I wanted to ask if you had any headcanons for pranks Matt and Hikari would play on the others or random people. -Moon Anon
MOON ANON! HOW ARE YOU? I HOPE YOU’RE DOING WELL SO FAR IN THIS NEW YEAR!
Now I’ll admit, I had to look back through my various headcanons to find the Matt/Kari post that I definitely didn’t forget about, just to make sure I didn’t repeat anything.
Thankfully, there’s not much I could repeat HAHA! Loophole! So let’s see what these two crazy kids are up to.
Matt and Kari, Prank Master Duo
I’ve said before that they roll with strangers’ assumptions that they’re dating, and that’s really the only prank on random people they pull
Most of the pranks they pull are on Tai
My favorite is when he wakes up, and they’re wearing surgical masks, and they tell Tai that the world has ended and he’s going to die in three hours because he’s caught the massively contagious disease that wiped out the human race
He spends an entire hour panicking before he realizes they’re cackling and doubled over holding their stomachs, before kicking them out of the apartment and telling them to pull that shit elsewhere
So they do it with T.K. next
Who doesn’t get as mad but maybe faints a little and that’s when MATT starts panicking
They stopped pulling that prank after that
Occasionally they’ll switch Mimi’s shampoo with hair dye as a reference to the strange changes in hair color she went through in 02 (like what the hell was the point of that) but she dyes it right back, so that ruins the mood
They were plotting a prank on Sora, but Sora appeared with this nasty look in her eye and said “don’t you fucking dare” (she’d heard about the prank on Tai) and they stopped their plan
They also decided against pranking Izzy because of the Magnamon incident mentioned in my previous post
However, they pull all of the classic pranks on Davis, and he STILL falls for them
It’s reached a point where they’re not even sure if it’s funny anymore until Davis sits on a whoopee cushion AND IT TOTALLY IS
And so far, that is the extent of their pranking ways
------
I’m a little terrified of this duo now
#digimon headcanons#moon anon#yamato ishida#hikari yagami#kari kamiya#matt ishida#man these two are scary together

Digimon Adventure 02 Blood Types (+ Astrology)
The Chosen Children (DigiDestined) in Digimon Adventure and 02 do not have official birthdays. However, Toei Animation officially gave Miyako the star sign Gemini and the blood type AB. But I’ve always focused on the astrology aspect of their source of inspiration -- and completely disregarded their blood types.
That was wrong of me. Their blood types are almost as important as their Western zodiac signs, no matter how ridiculous I think the idea is.
Taichi ‘Tai Kamiya’ Yagami: Aries Sun, Blood Type O
Hikari ‘Kari Kamiya’ Yagami: Taurus Sun, Blood Type A
Miyako ‘Yolei’ Inoue: Gemini Sun, Blood Type AB
Mimi Tachikawa: Cancer Sun, Blood Type B
Daisuke ‘Davis’ Motomiya: Leo Sun, Blood Type O
Jou ‘Joe’ Kido: Virgo Sun, Blood Type A
Ken Ichijouji: Libra Sun, Blood Type AB
Sora Takenouchi: Scorpio Sun, Blood Type O
Takeru ‘T.K.’ Takaishi: Sagittarius Sun, Blood Type B
Iori ‘Cody’ Hida: Capricorn Sun, Blood Type A
Koushirou ‘Izzy’ Izumi: Aquarius Sun, Blood Type AB
Yamato ‘Matt’ Ishida: Pisces Sun, Blood Type AB
Blood types are even more popular than astrology in Japan. And, more importantly, every single anime character with an official birthday is always listed with both their star sign and their blood type. Because it matters. The blood type is there to either offset or complement the Sun sign.
I’ve recently fallen into a bit of a Sailor Moon hole (nostalgia at its finest!), and noticed that the main character, Serena (Usagi), was officially a Cancer with blood type O.
So I actually decided to look up what blood type O meant -- and it gave Serena an outgoing, friendly disposition with leadership skills.
Ah. That’s cheating! XD;
So, yeah, it only took me 20 years to really acknowledge that Miyako was given an official blood type, and that it might actually mean something, lol.
Apparently, only around 30% of people in the US know their blood types, whereas at least 90% of people in Japan know their blood types.
Yeah. Blood types are a MASSIVE DEAL in Japan (and South Korea and Taiwan . . .). Even bigger than astrology, apparently.
I still find the whole thing utterly ridiculous, but I forced myself to read up on it because I’m interested in the “origins” of the Chosen Children (character trivia is interesting to me!). Because, as Sailor Moon showed me, their blood types should either complement or offset their Sun signs.
I’ve also never thought about the “impact” of their blood types because I’ve never had an issue with identifying a character’s Sun sign. Whether an anime character with a Sun sign was introverted or extroverted was never an issue to me because, well, if you’re really knowledgeable in astrology, it’s really easy to see “through” that and see the “core” of their character anyway.
Mimi being an extroverted Cancer, for example, was never a barrier to me -- because all Sun signs can be introverted or extroverted, especially in an anime series created by writers who can do whatever they want with their characters. It’s the “skeleton” of the character that lets you know exactly which Sun sign inspired them. So I’ve always just accepted, “oh, the writer wanted to create an extroverted Cancer”, for example.
I just didn’t know that the writers actually gave a reason for their characters’ extroversion or introversion -- via their blood types.
It’s been in front of me this whole time . . . but I just ignored Miyako’s blood type because I personally think the whole blood type thing is ridiculous. I still think it is, but it was wrong of me to ignore it -- and I think anyone who is actually interested in figuring out the origin of the characters would be wrong to keep ignoring their blood types, too. It goes hand-in-hand with astrology.
Fortunately, there are only four blood types, so reading up on it was pretty easy. But, as there are only four, it’s a lot more restrictive than astrology -- and a lot of traits are contradictory, especially when you give one character a blood type, as parts of it will fit and parts of it won’t.
(This blood type system is just as bad as the Hogwarts Houses. Honestly, I never understood its popularity -- it never made sense to me and is such a terrible system. Hermione is a Gryffindor because she’s brave? So . . . all Ravenclaws are cowardly intellectuals? And not one Slytherin stayed to fight in the final battle, so all Slytherins are pure evil? OK, I’ll stop. I’ve just been disappointed in JK Rowling recently.)
Here’s one summary of the four blood types (note: there are tonnes . . . so I recommend googling for some more to get a better idea!):
Type A -- “The Farmer” Best traits: Warmest, reserved, sensible, patient, responsible, perfectionists, wise, and cautious. Worst traits: Fastidious, over-earnest, obsessive, stubborn, the least temperate, inconsiderate, jealous, cold, angry.
Type B -- “The Hunter” Best traits: Passionate, active, creative, animal-loving, flexible, cheerful, friendly and optimistic, vocalizing personality Worst traits: Irresponsible, forgetful, selfish, lazy, impatient, unreliable and "going own way".
Type AB -- “The Humanist” Best traits: Creative, calm, rational, sociable, intelligent and adaptable. Worst traits: Critical, indecisive, unforgiving, aloof and not trustable
Type O -- “The Warrior” Best traits: Confident, self-determined, ambitious, strong-willed, intuitive, agreeable, competitive and athletic. Worst traits: Unpredictable, spiteful, self-centered, cold, aggressive, arrogant, envious and ruthless.
(Source: Wikipedia)
The Japanese population consists of approximately 40% blood type As, 30% Os, 20% Bs and 10% ABs. This is actually important because the As and Os are considered the more “popular” (”socially accepted”) blood types, whereas people really consider the minority, ABs, as “weird” . . .
The associated traits are also kind of all over the place, depending on which source you’re reading. And there are a lot of them . . . so it can get pretty confusing! But I found it a lot easier and simpler to break them down into groups of introverts and extroverts:
Type A: Introverted
Type B: Extroverted
Type AB: Introverted or Extroverted (AB is A + B combined, hence, AB!)
Type O: Extroverted
I also read some anecdotal descriptions from Japanese people or people who have lived in Japan -- and what their Japanese peers think of the blood types (so a “real world” impression of them). Because it gives me a better idea of the “general opinion” from actual people (therefore a reflection of “common knowledge”), which gives me more context and understanding than just reading a set of traits.
For example, guys with blood type B are considered playboys -- so a lot of women (who believe in this crazy blood type personality indicator) generally avoid dating them. Blood Type As are considered the “stereotypical” quiet Japanese personality, blood type Os are considered the best people in general to be around, and blood type ABs are considered “weird” and social outcasts.
I even read someone saying that they’ve never seen people in Japan being discriminated against due to their star sign, but that they have seen people being discriminated against due to their blood type (usually AB). Apparently ABs don’t “play well with others” to the extent that some Japanese companies avoid hiring them. Some Japanese politician even exploded angrily at work, subsequently resigned, and his apology was, “Sorry, I’m blood type AB” . . .
Yeah. Crazy. But it gives me a really good idea of what the blood types “mean” (no, I do not believe in blood types -- I’m just seeing what the “rules” about it says!).
Because I like to be thorough, I also wanted to see the blood types “in practice” -- with Sun signs, too. So I looked up the Sun signs and blood types of some official anime examples to give me a better idea and understanding of how anime creators/writers use and execute star signs and blood types together. I think these characters are popular enough that most people would be familiar with a few of them, too.
Sailor Moon: Cancer Sun, Blood Type O
Sailor Mercury: Virgo Sun, Blood Type A
Sailor Mars: Aries Sun, Blood Type AB
Sailor Jupiter: Sagittarius Sun, Blood Type O
Sailor Venus: Libra Sun, Blood Type B
Tuxedo Mask: Leo Sun, Blood Type A
One Piece’s Luffy: Taurus Sun, Blood Type B
One Piece’s Usopp: Aries Sun, Blood Type O
One Piece’s Nami: Cancer Sun, Blood Type A
One Piece’s Zoro: Scorpio Sun, Blood Type AB
One Piece’s Sanji: Pisces Sun, Blood Type O
Naruto’s Naruto: Libra Sun, Blood Type O
Naruto’s Sasuke: Leo Sun, Blood Type AB
Naruto’s Sakura: Aries Sun, Blood Type O
Gravitation’s Yuki: Pisces Sun, Blood Type AB
Gravitation’s Shuichi: Aries Sun, Blood Type AB
I definitely understand it a lot better now. But it’s clear that they do “cheat” and just take certain aspects of a blood type to go with a zodiac sign. For example, while Sanji is an outgoing, silly Pisces, he’s not the leader of the Straw Hats.
Also, most of the ABs are the typical “dark” characters with tragic pasts . . . so social outcast is spot on.
Now let’s finally get to the Digimon characters!
I want to be clear that I am not trying to “assign” blood types to the Digimon characters. This is about determining what the Digimon Adventure/02 staff actually used as a blueprint for the characters.
For example, if I were to “assign” a blood type to Yamato in Digimon Adventure tri., I would definitely give him blood type O (for leadership abilities -- while ignoring the outgoing aspect . . . I guess his Pisces Sun “dims” it!).
But I don’t think the original staff for Adventure/02 “used” that blood type for him. I really don’t see Adventure/02 Yamato as a capable leader (but I do in tri., where he is 1000% the better leader for most of the series, over tri. Taichi).
This is about the actual source of inspiration for Yamato’s character by the original Adventure/02 staff, and not the tri. staff (who I don’t think knew that the characters were based on signs/blood types), so tri. Yamato’s personality is irrelevant to this particular discussion.
Because Toei Animation gave Miyako both a star sign and blood type (as do the majority of anime writers for their characters), and it’s 100% clear they gave star signs to all the Chosen, then they gave all the characters blood types, too. Because star signs and blood types go hand-in-hand in Japanese anime.
Taichi ‘Tai Kamiya’ Yagami: Aries Sun, Blood Type O
I think they kept it super simple with Taichi, their main character and protagonist of the entire series. Aries Sun for leadership, blood type O for leadership as well. I don’t think his Aries Sun needed to be “offset” -- he’s an outgoing person and a “warrior”, and blood type O just complements that.
Hikari ‘Kari Kamiya’ Yagami: Taurus Sun, Blood Type A
I think blood type A for her because it just complements her Taurus Sun. Type A is really the Earth equivalent in astrology, and there’s nothing about Hikari that suggests to me that she’s more than Earth (well, except when she’s taken over . . . which I think has nothing to do with her).
Miyako ‘Yolei’ Inoue: Gemini Sun, Blood Type AB
Official. Note that the blood type here just complements her Sun sign as well. Blood type AB is actually considered the equivalent to Gemini in its duality . . . so the writers here just doubled down on her duality. She’s also the more extroverted version of an AB, where they can be both.
Mimi Tachikawa: Cancer Sun, Blood Type B
She needs an extroverted blood type to offset her introverted Cancer Sun, like Sailor Moon, who is a Cancer Sun with blood type O. So B or O for Mimi -- I lean more towards B, because Mimi doesn’t have leadership qualities. And I think of her outgoing, cheerful nature as more similar to that of Takeru, rather than Taichi.
Daisuke ‘Davis’ Motomiya: Leo Sun, Blood Type O
Like Taichi, I think they went super simple with him and just gave him the leadership blood type. There’s nothing about his personality that sways away from being a stereotypical Leo -- this includes the fact that quite a few anime makes the Leo the “mean” character. Daisuke is not that mean, but compared to the others, he’s definitely the most “obnoxious, jerk”-type amongst them. (Examples of mean Leos: Sasuke in Naruto, Tuxedo Mask in Sailor Moon.)
Jou ‘Joe’ Kido: Virgo Sun, Blood Type A
I just think all the Earth signs are blood type A, lol. It just complements their boring Earth sign . . . again, I am not insulting Earth signs, it’s just textbook astrology! (I swear. I’m a boring Earth sign . . . lol) Jou is such a Virgo to me that I think his personality is the Earth equivalent in blood types.
Ken Ichijouji: Libra Sun, Blood Type AB
I’m the most confident with Ken’s blood type. AB can give you an introverted, social outcast character -- which offsets his Libra Sun’s extroversion. Done. (Sasuke in Naruto, for example, is a Leo Sun who should be outgoing -- instead, he’s an introverted, social outcast because he’s blood type AB. Also, I just noticed that Ken and Daisuke are Naruto and Sasuke, but with swapped blood types. Neat.)
Sora Takenouchi: Scorpio Sun, Blood Type O
I view Sora as an “extroverted introvert”. She’s definitely an introvert, but she plays well at being an extrovert. Because her Scorpio Sun is introverted, I think her blood type offsets it to make her a little bit more extroverted than usual for a Scorpio. So I think O or B both works for her -- I lean towards O, because it’s called “The Warrior” and she has that meaning in her surname. Plus, O would make her the same blood type as Taichi, giving exactly the same “connection” as being Mars-ruled does. (The exact same connection . . . competitiveness, sports, etc.)
Takeru ‘T.K.’ Takaishi: Sagittarius Sun, Blood Type B
This also just complements his Sun. Also, I know I’m supposed to disregard his tri. personality, but I do also think that Adventure/02 Takeru has the ingredients to grow up to be a charming playboy, so . . . lol. Blood type B it is!
Iori ‘Cody’ Hida: Capricorn Sun, Blood Type A
Again, this blood type just complements his Sun. I think the blood type is complementary when the character is so like their Sun sign -- and Iori is incredibly Capricorn. So much so talking about him bores me, lol. (I don’t hate him! I swear! He’s just SO MUCH Capricorn!)
Koushirou ‘Izzy’ Izumi: Aquarius Sun, Blood Type AB
Blood type AB are said to be “geniuses” or “talented”. Koushirou is Adventure’s genius, seen as a bit of an outsider just because of his intellect. I think AB is being expressed in a similar way to Miyako’s AB here; the more positive aspects of it (”genius”), as opposed to the negative aspects of it in Ken and Yamato (social outcast). I also view Koushirou as an “introverted extrovert” -- I think he’s actually an extrovert; if you put him in a room full of intellectuals, he’d stay there forever talking to everyone.
Yamato ‘Matt’ Ishida: Pisces Sun, Blood Type AB
Similar reasoning to Ken -- I think the writers set out to make Yamato the “social outcast”-type character in Adventure (when Ken didn’t exist). I consider Yamato the blueprint for Ken’s character in a lot of ways, actually. They used Yamato to be the “outsider” (troublemaker, doesn’t really fit in) in Adventure, to turn against his friends -- and then upped it a few hundred notches for Ken in 02, who also has blood type AB. ABs are also blood types A and B combined (who are opposites); see the contradiction? Yamato can be both shy and confident; he can be cool, calm and collected one minute, then off-the-rails emotionally the next. AB! Actually, I’m just as confident about his as I am Ken’s. ABs are the easiest to spot in anime! They just turn every Sun sign dark, lol.
And that’s my current list!
The blood types are subject to change, as I’m not an expert on them by any means. I literally just looked the whole thing up a few days ago, so my knowledge on it is very, very basic compared to the years I spent reading about astrology from multiple different sources (and thus why I’m 100% certain on those).
This was a lot harder than their Sun signs. With astrology, I could fact-check myself with their character designs, Crests, digimon partners, name meanings and roles in the plot -- but with blood types? Nope.
This is just me guessing with what I think was being done with their Sun signs (to complement or offset) -- where most of them do seem to just complement their signs. But I can’t grasp on to any “evidence” like I can with astrology, unfortunately. I’m pretty confident with Ken and Yamato’s blood types, though.
What do you guys think? What blood types do you think the kids were given in Adventure/02? Please disregard anything you saw in tri., as that’s an entirely different staff (who interpreted and expressed the characters as they saw fit). Just focus on the characterisations from Adventure/02.

Jyoumi Challenge Day #15: Celebration
I originally had another idea, but at the last minute, I thought of this and I’m super happy with it! Got to finally write more with the rest of the DigiDestined, too, and I had a lot of fun. Hope y’all enjoy!
---
With tear-stained eyes and shaking hands, Mimi slowly started to type out a message to the group chat she had with the original DigiDestined.
“He finally popped the question,” she repeated to herself slowly, before attaching a picture that had just been taken moments earlier. One of Mimi in even greater tears than she was now, holding up her right hand for the camera to show off her new engagement ring, with Joe sitting next to her, arm around her shoulders, resting his head next to hers. Both were wearing huge smiles, and Joe had been tearing up, too, eyes red and puffy from wiping them.
“And send,” she said to herself quietly, sending the message and the picture to their friends, before moving into Joe’s lap, hugging him tight. “I can’t believe it. I still can’t believe it. I had no idea…” she breathed out, unable to take her eyes off her right ring finger and the diamond that now adorned it.
“I mean, that was the whole idea, right?” Joe asked with a soft laugh, wrapping his arms around her and letting his head rest on the top of hers. Mimi giggled, looking up at him, and Joe wiped away a few stray tears of hers with his thumb.
“I know, but its still just so incredible. I had no clue when you were planning to propose and… I am just so happy,” she told him.
“Me, too. I’m happy you said yes,” he said sheepishly. Mimi looked up at him, a smirk clear on her face.
“We’ve been dating for more than half of our lives, I’d hope you were happy,” she teased him, playfully bumping her shoulder into him with a giggle.
“I mean, you make me happy, you know that,” he assured her with a soft nod.
“You make me happy, too.”
Silence washed over their apartment, the two enjoying having nothing more but just each other’s presence in those moments. Peace and quiet, and after an eventful night, quiet moments as fiances was all the celebration they needed.
However, that quiet was interrupted after a few minutes by the sudden buzzing of their phones pulled them from their reveries, and Mimi started to scramble off of Joe to get to their coffee table, unable to suppress the elation she was feeling as she started to see text notification after text notification pop up.
He did it?
Congrats!
The lovebirds finally did it!
Congratulations you two!
The ring is so beautiful!
You two look so happy!
The messages were pouring in, and neither of them could hold back the smiles on their faces, and Mimi was quick to let her thumbs fly along her phone’s keyboard.
Thanks everyone! We’re SO happy! The best night of my life :)
She sent the text off, Joe looking over her shoulder to see, then grabbed his own phone.
Mine too.
And Joe’s too!
The newly engaged couple looked at each other from the corners of their eyes, smiling at each other just as much with their eyes as their mouths. Another text alert, however, caused both of them to look back to their phones.
How about we all get together tomorrow night after we’re all off? Gotta celebrate the lovebirds finally getting off their butts!
“Does that sound good to you?” Joe asked Mimi, who nodded enthusiastically.
“Of course!” she chirped, quickly sending off confirmations and details of when to come over, just about vibrating with excitement now as she popped up from the floor.
“We have to get the apartment ready!”
By the time they were both able to make it home that next day, they didn’t have much time to get everything tidied up and set up as much as they wanted. Thankfully, the two already preferred their living space to be neat, but given this would be the first time in a long while that everyone would be coming over.
“You reached out to Yolei about seeing her, Davis, Cody, and Ken later this week?”
“Yup! Friday works?”
“Yeah, I’ll just have to meet you all at the ramen shop,” he told her, Mimi nodding, about to wipe their dining table once again before a loud knock rang out against their door.
“Oh! They’re here!” she shouted out happily, pulling the tie out of her hair and shaking her head to let her hair fall. She grabbed Joe’s wrist (her fiance’s wrist, she thought to herself, with a smile that felt like it would never go away) and brought him along to the door, flinging it open and seeing the whole group there.
Immediately they were greeted by a bright camera flash, causing Joe to blink a few times to gather himself.
“Congratulations!” the group of six cheered, the newly engaged couple wasting no time in letting their closest friends in, the group all gathering in their living room. Sora was quick to place a vase with a beautiful flower arrangement on the coffee table, with Matt placing a chocolate cake down moments later.
“You guys! You didn’t have to do this! But oh these flowers are so beautiful! And Matt, that cake looks divine!” Mimi gushed, eyes wide and sparkling.
“Thanks so much, guys. Really, you didn’t have to go all out,” Joe said.
TK shook his head, “Come on, its not everyday two of your best friends get engaged! Celebration is in order! Hell, we would be awful friends if we didn’t go all out for you two,” he assured the oldest of the group, gently pushing his shoulder, offering him a smile. Joe laughed and nodded.
“Ok, ok, if you say so. Mimi and I will cut the cake and then we can celebrate,” he said, standing up. Before Mimi could stand up or he could move, Tai was already on his feet, placing a hand on Joe’s shoulder to lower him back down.
“Hey, the man and woman of the hour aren’t gonna cut their own cake, I’ll handle it,” he insisted, waltzing over to the kitchen once he picked up the dessert.
“Don’t cut your finger off!” Kari shouted teasingly.
“I’ll have you know the last time I cut my finger while doing anything with food was years ago,” he waved her off, before pausing for a beat, “And even if I did, we have Joe here!”
Luckily, Tai didn’t hurt himself, and soon enough he and his younger sister were handing out slices to the group, everyone sitting around, relaxing like the old days.
“You know, Joe, when I first met you, I would’ve never expected you’d be the first one out of all of us to get married!” Tai said, to which Joe’s eyes narrowed.
“Thanks, Tai,” he deadpanned, before Tai realized what he had said, his eyes going wide as he waved his hands in front of him.
“No no no, not like that! I just mean when I first met you I wouldn’t have expected it! But getting to know you in the Digital World, it makes sense that you would! Just look at you, you’re a great guy, always there for people, one of the best guys any of us know, I bet,” he explained, the group nodding in agreement.
“And hot to boot!” Mimi added, sitting up straighter in order to give Joe a kiss on the cheek, relishing in how bright red he was now.
“He’s right, man,” Matt said offering Joe a thumbs up, “You two are perfect for each other.”
All of their friends had said this to the two of them over the years, but with the situation they were in now, now engaged, it felt even more unreal to the two of them.
“You’re all so sweet!” Mimi cooed, setting her plate down for a moment to get a closer look at the flowers, “Sora— you just have to do our flowers for the wedding! They’re so beautiful! I just love them!”
Sora flushed, “For you two? Of course, I’d be more than happy to,” she assured the couple, “And if you need any help with wedding planning, I’d be more than happy to help,” she nodded.
“I’m sure Mimi has a binder full of every idea she’s had since we were kids,” Izzy said, the group laughing for a moment before falling silent, eyes turning to Mimi.
“Yup, I definitely have.”
More laughter followed, and conversation continued to flow throughout the group throughout the night, with stories being told of old trips to the Digital World and plenty of teasing the Mimi and Joe— which Joe took in far greater stride than anyone would’ve expected.
The night wore on, calm and serenity filling the atmosphere.
“Congrats again, guys,” Kari said, reaching over to pull Mimi into a hug, Mimi squeezing her back.
“Oh, thank you so much. You’re all the best for doing this,” she said before the two pulled apart, Kari giving Joe a quick hug, too.
“Matt, where’d you get the cake? It was delicious,” Joe asked.
“Oh, this little bakery a few blocks from here. But I would definitely recommend getting a wedding cake from there because it was pretty good,” Matt grinned.
“Be careful, though, because Matt will probably try and eat it all before the reception,” TK laughed, earning a flick to the back of his head from his older brother.
“Hey, I wouldn’t complain if you got another cake like that,” Sora added.
“And, hey, we gotta get a bachelor party planned! I think its up to us, Izzy!” Tai said, clapping his friend on the shoulders, Izzy nearly jumping from where he was sitting. “I’m thinking lots of drinking and lots of karaoke!”
Joe paled, looking towards Mimi, mouthing the word “Help”, which left her cracking up.
TK caught on, and couldn’t help but snicker, “I think that’s a good plan. Make it the wildest night he may not be able to remember.”
“You guys are going to kill him before he even gets married,” Izzy said, voice wholly serious.
“Maybe a few girls to come along with us?” Matt added.
“You guys, at this rate you actually will kill him before his wedding day!” Sora lectured, yanking Tai and Matt up by their shirts, “It is getting pretty late, too. We should let them relax for the night.”
“Oh, don’t worry Sora, Joe will survive, he always has,” Mimi said, patting her fiance on the arm lightly, a big smile on her face.
“Hey, no worries, we’ll get out of your hair. You two can have a night doing whatever cute things engaged people do,” Tai said, as the group of six headed towards the door, Joe and Mimi following.
“Thanks again for everything, guys. Not just tonight, but you know, always. We’ll make sure to keep you all up to date on all of the plans,” Joe said.
“We’ll see you guys later. Congrats again,” Matt said.
And with goodbyes said and their friends off, Joe and Mimi started to gather up the mess in the living room, both humming to themselves happily.
“I know its kind of late… but can we have a celebratory glass of wine before bed? Please?” Mimi asked, looking towards Joe and batting her eyelashes, knowing full well how weak that would make him.
With a happy sigh, he nodded, “Ok, but just one.”
With a squeal, Mimi ran to the fridge, ready to finish off the great celebration that was the night she and Joe Kido got engaged.

Mimi Tachikawa
Strangely enough, I used to like her even back when I was a kid programated to hate all the girly girl characters. The creators did an amazing job with her. Mimi is better each season. She transforms her selfishness in genuine care for others while still loving herself the most (which is actually the healthiest balance).
The one who suffers more changes out of all the digidestined, and deep down, is still the same. So pure and funny! I believe one of her charms is actually her good sense of humour, something stereotypical preppy girls don't tend to have. I also like her relationships with other females; Mimi is never shown as someone who perceives other girls as a menace (#Much needed sorority).
You gotta love her style! She is so pretty with glittery pink hair in 02 ^.^
Fandom-wise, she is such a flexible character and can be portrayed in so many different ways without being inaccurate with canon. I mean, she can be both Slytherin and Hufflepuff material. How awesome is that?
Finally, I'm gonna say I headcanon her as a bisexual and here is a list of my favourite pairings and opinions about her relationship with certain characters, which I find truly interesting.
Koumi/Mishiro (with Koushiro “Izzy” Izumi).
Is a bit cliché in the sense of `geek gets the pretty and popular girl´ but I don't care, it has been my preferential pairing for her since I first watched the anime when I was a child. Their digimons also match nicely: the flower and the insect, must definately be intended.
Michi (with Taichi Yagami/Kamiya).
Also kinda stereotypical if you think of them as the cheerleader and the athlete. Any way, I think it`s a cute and entretaining couple.
Sorami (with Sora Takenouchi), forming the ultimate lesbian ship.
They are both so pretty in the outside and inside, best friends and complement each other perfectly. What else can you ask for?
Poly relationship with the two aforementioned.
Plus the option of adding Yamato Ishida to the mix too.
By the way, this foursome is the only way I am able to tolerate Mimi and Matt having something (I have always disliked the idea of Mimato. People ship it, which is fine, but is not my cup of tea, definitely one of my NOTPs) and I must admit that I imagine it more like a “fun and games” thing than them actually being in love (I am not trying to imply they do not care about each other because they most certantly do, is just that I believe that, even in this scennario, the connection each of them would have with Tai or Sora would be stronger than with the other)
Jyou Kiddo used to have a thing for her, however, she clearly didn't correspond, at least not romantic or sexually (I mean, Mimi adores Joe, he is a great friend and she can always count on him. Of course she thinks highly of him, just not in a “I have a crush” kind of way).
That`s my take on Jyoumi and I believe is actually kinda canon if you take the movies into account ¿?
As I picture it, they seek completely different things and if they actually tried to date, they would probably just stress each other out.
Miyako admires her and I platonically ship them, especially from the side of the youngest.
On a similar note, probably the only thing I like about Meiko is that she would make an adorable couple with our Tachikawa girl.
In the future, I will probably make more of this posts about my other favourite digidestined kids. You can take this as an invitation to ask me for ship or character headcanons.
