Sooo... Eddie Fender, huh? The initial shock of the name pun has worn off, and I can now see is through a more critical lens. I've heard people state that it's a lazy pun, especially for a major character. I agree to an extent. Don't get me wrong, I quite like the name. But Eddie Fender absolutely sounds like a name that would be given to a side character who just so happens to be a defense attorney. But the main cast has names that, while having a bit more meaning and depth behind them, still come off as goofy and silly.

Personally, I don't have anything against the name Eddie Fender. Plus, Ray absolutely looks like an Eddie to me. I suspect that the negative reception might be because Raymond Shields is just such a hard name to top. It is perfect. And we have to take a closer look at Edgeworth's name, and then Shields', to fully appreciate that name.

I almost like this little dominatrix :D What I've used: • craft paper sketchbook • acrylic markers: white, blue metallic, golden • water-based markers or felt-pens • pencil, black and white pens, ballpoint pen, calligraphy liners • a tiny bit of digital touch (the one with Edgey is coloured digitally) Oh man, it was such a mess on my fingers to mix white and metallic blue acrylic markers on her hair. And altogether trying to paint the skin with waterbased feltpens over white acrylic, baaaaaaaaa, was a pain. I've drawn unnatural skin colours for Undertale and Steven Universe characters like this before, but now I'm figuring how to use the same technique with real skin tones. I love craft paper, but man, it's tricky! The last sketch with Edgey was digitally painted though, as I've almost ruined the lineart with not dry enough acrylic on the same spread sheet, aaaa. Plus there're too many little detailes to easily mess it up with white marker x)

And I've enjoyed drawing Franziska too much. I object. She is still a rude little beast. You will not grow in me, Franziska. I will resist your tsundere charms.

But it was fun.

'Whoooooooooooop! Detective Gumshooooooooooooe!' is such a perfect moment. I mean mostly, it's just fucking hilarious. But then if you go back to the scene after the trial

it's obvious Edgeworth isn't just saying happy new year to Gumshoe. He's trying to thank him, in the most awkward, unhinged way possible.

Which suggests that, a few days after the trial that he was still shell-shocked from, Edgeworth was sat thinking something like, "Hmm, Detective Gumshoe stuck by me through all of this. I don't know how to thank him. Wait... Ms Fey gave me directions on how to appropriately express my gratitude, didn't she? It seems foolish, but perhaps I should try it. To the police precinct!"

Or that's how I imagine it went down. Fwiw I also headcannon that Edgeworth was the one who secretly nominated Gumshoe for the award he won in RFTA.

Maybe more of a stretch given how anti-award Edgeworth seems at this point. But on the other hand, Gumshoe wasn't exactly popular with his superiors or the prosecutor's office at the time. And I feel like diligence is something Edgeworth genuinely values in Gumshoe. Plus even if he claims not to care about awards himself, he could likely still see how much it would mean to Gumshoe to be recognised for once. Also, it'd be another way to thank him without having to actually, y'know, thank him.

Capcom Museum Investigations Sketches

This is the 66th post in the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection Countdown: 15 days left until release!

Today's topic: concept art sketches from the Capcom Museum Ace Attorney Investigations Exhibit!

The Investigations exhibit on the Capcom Museum website has tons of amazing artworks, backgrounds, sketches, promotional material and even the old promotion video for Investigations! The exhibit itself might be closed by now (sadly) but you can still access all the art and stuff they posted including these sketches below. They're originally from the artbook but I had first seen them on the Capcom Museum website and they're lovely so I wanted to talk about them.

This one shows a bunch of concept work done for the life-size figurine of Miles for the Investigations promotion booth back then. The highlighted parts are considered to be particularly important for Miles to look like Miles, that includes the line between his eyebrows and the lock of hair standing out at the back of his head. It's often exactly these kinds of details that make characters suddenly look wrong if they're missing even if you don't actively notice them when they're there. I also love the image of Miles with just his waistcoat on, we've never seen him like that before! (Definitely gonna use this for future fanfic endeavours.)

The next two sketches are particular favourites of mine, they're from the Investigations main trio and I always love seeing them together! The first one shows them rushing to get somewhere (the scene of the crime, most likely). Miles is running in front, very focused and determined, followed by Gumshoe closely behind, with a more concerned look on his face. Kay looks like she's flying or jumping from somewhere above them, her arms stretched and her scarf flapping in the wind reminiscent of an action hero. It's a wonderfully dynamic image, even at the sketch stage, and I'd love to see a fully drawn and coloured version of this. It's amazing how all their personalities come through in such a simple action and how well their team dynamic comes across. Miles as the serious leader, Kay always rushing in headfirst as dramatically as possible and Gumshoe lacking a little behind but always there to support. So nice!

The second one shows them sitting on something (probably a bench) and, again, I love how their personalities and dynamic is expressed in just the way they're sitting! Miles is in the middle with his hands folded on his crossed legs and facing slightly upwards with a very serious expression like he's thinking about something particularly difficult to figure out. Kay is on his left fully croaching on the bench instead of sitting like she could jump up at any time, ready for action. She doesn't look quite as serious but still contemplative propping up her chin with her arm and looking off to the side. Gumshoe has his legs parallel to each other, his feet on the ground and his back straight, the perfect picture of how to sit on a bench. He looks completely relaxed with his hands in his lap and a happy smile on his face. Such a nice contrast between the three! I'd love to have this one fully drawn and coloured too but it's great in the sketch stage as well.

The last piece is a series of sketches done for the cute little comic that came with the Investigations 2 orchestra soundtrack (the final version with translation can be found here). Just from the sketches alone you can roughly tell what it's about, the intro is dramatic with Miles, Kay and Gumshoe all looking distressed, then the reveal that Kay and Gumshoe are wearing baseball gloves and hiding, to a final extremely rough sketch of Miles finding his broken King of Prosecutors' trophy with the culprit clearly being a baseball. Great little comic and the sketches already deliver so much! It's honestly amazing that Gumshoe would agree to playing catch in Miles' office considering he's the one who cleans and is so protective of it. Maybe he thought, in his naivety, that nothing would happen or that he could clean any mess they made before Miles returned... At least it was "only" the trophy that Miles isn't so attached to anyway but I can't imagine him being very happy about them playing ball games in his office 😅 Daily shenanigans of the Investigations crew!

Miles discovered what Manfred did. He didn't have the evidence, but he suspected he knew, and couldn't risk being next.

After the death of his father, little Miles is raised under Manfred's wing, in investigation and prosecution. Unfortunately for Manfred, Edgeworth uses these skills as he grows, along with his father's death as study material. Here, he is less credulous about the possibility of himself as the killer. Over his years and his growth into adolescence he begins to find holes that bug him in his father's case. Manfred begins to detect the dissent as well, up unto the point that Miles so explicitly begins to ask questions in search of that perfect evidence. His mentors' replies are not satisfactory, but clearly display the disdain he had for his father, and disdain for the damage Miles did himself ('i was an adventurer like you once until i took a bullet to the shoulder'). As Miles matures, he realizes that, perhaps pleasing his mentor will no longer suffice. And despite what he knows, he still just doesn't have the evidence for a court of law…

Manfred agitates Miles upon a more forward confrontation one night, and finds it to be his last. Miles is clean with his work and manages to dissuade enough suspicion that he acts as prosecutor on the case. Someone else is locked away for the murder, and Miles is freed of his mentor at a young age. But his aptitude in Manfred's case, and as his student, is enough to propel him in the world of law. Franziska on the other hand is left fatherless, and unknowing of Miles' transgression. As he has reached a point of maturity by the time of the murder, he is capable of taking responsibility of her. She is resentful, but distraught by the death of her beloved father. Miles is a more distant caretaker, but dutiful to his sister, and raises her with continued law education, but with less attention and involvement than her father would've afforded.

As time passes, Miles is haunted by the deaths that surround him. He becomes distant and irritable, reminiscent of Manfred, but still less strict and generally unconcerned with Franziska, which does stunt her growth in comparison to regular.

One night, while Miles is in a particularly irritable mood upon Franziska's return home, he is found tending to the gun he used. Franziska is avoidant, but he becomes aggressive. His fit is not harmfully aggressive at first, and he lays down the gun during it, which Franziska manages to pick up to remove from his access, and of an instinct that she may need to defend herself. As Miles spirals he begins to target her, and sees the gun, and demands it back. She insists she will not, and that he is unwell. He then begins to taunt her, telling her to shoot him if she will not, perhaps going as far to insinuate that it wouldn't be the first murder of family. As he becomes more threatening, eventually physically dangerous, she finds no choice but to shoot. And with that she falls the next in the long line, passed along the family jewels.

She calls the police, and admits to what she's done in self defense. She's a husk, waiting in the crime scene as police come and go. Gumshoe arrives and fusses over her, having still worked with her and Miles, though less chummy with Miles. But she's rather unresponsive. She's taken into custody for questioning.

Later that night is when she meets Mr. Wright, who wants to defend her in court. She is naturally suspicious, and of course a blood feud between prosecutors and defense attorneys. He elaborates, he knew Miles as a child and became a lawyer thanks to him. He never thought they'd reunite like this.

+ the redesigns for this. I love making au's, but I'm not particularly great at writing. I do have a little scene or two written out, mostly Phoenix and Franziska, plus some omitted details, so if anyone actually sees this post, lmk if you would like to see them in the future. I haven't touched this story in a while, i suspect it wont be hugely loved due to the Miles disrespect (I love him too but i also love evil little dudes) but I've also deliberated a Miles Lives route. This is a lot of yapping. I'll finish now ^^

NEIL LEWIS x PLUS SIZE!READER

Summary: She's the daughter of the founder of Media Giant. An up and coming video store company that has taken out several small video stores. Only one still stands and it just happens to be owned by the man she has a major crush on.

Chapter Summary: After finally meeting Neil, Y/N is excited to see how the showing goes and gets to know the Gumshoe crew a little better.

Warnings: Smut (future chapters), age gap (reader is 21 and neil is like late 20s to early 30s), cursing.

That night, she looked herself over in her full length mirror. She was dressed in a flowy white blouse and tight dark denim jeans with her favorite heeled boots. The jeans accentuated her curves and helped make her thighs look a little smaller than normal, the perfect look to be flirty yet demure. She ignores the pudge of stomach as she looks around for accessories.

Looking down to the gold watch on her wrist, she curses to herself before grabbing her purse and black tweed jacket. Quickly running down the stairs, she slides on her jacket before heading to the door. “Wait a minute! Get back here!” Her dad says loudly from the living room, sighing to herself she walks back to the living room, her eyes immediately finding the large Media Giant poster on the main wall.

“Where are you going all dressed up?” he asks, noticing her outfit. “My friends and I are going to get some food then go to a showing. One of their boyfriend’s just finished making something.” She lied easily, used to havig to do this all through high school.

“Okay, just be home before sunrise.” She nods and quickly leaves the house. Choosing to walk to the video store, she makes quick steps to get there before too many people show up. It doesn’t take her too long as the store isn’t too far from her house, looking inside the store there is a small amount of people so far.

Pushing the door open, she smiles at the people who turn when the bell rings. “Ah, Y/N! You came.” Neil says, kind of shocked she actually came. “Yeah, I’m a woman of my word.” She says, smiling up at him. “Oh, I want to introduce you to my employees and best buds. Jonathan and Lucien.” He says, gesturing to the two men she saw when she first entered the store earlier.

She waves before turning back to Neil, “So, do you expect a lot of people here tonight?” She asks, playing with her fingers. “I think it’ll be the usual people that come in here. Maybe some curious folks but nothing too crazy.” She nods and looks around. “Oh, would you like something to drink?” He asks and she nods following him to get a drink.

The store slowly started to fill with people as it got closer to eight but it definitely wasn’t full. Everyone was able to fit comfortably around the TV area when it hit eight. The TV starts to play a black and white video which makes everyone cheer, it reminds her of the old detective films she used to watch with her grandparents when she was younger.

The commercial is definitely for a certain kind of audience with it’s noir style aesthetic and script. Neil’s old timey detective accent makes her giggle as the camera pulls back to show the store lighting up and he gives a big smile to the camera. The room cheers as it ends and he walks to the TV mimicking what he did at the end with a big thumbs up, smile, and wink. “Wow, this is amazing. Um, I don’t really know where to begin.” He breathes heavily as his voice starts to shake. “I told myself I wouldn’t cry.” He says and everyone laughs at his acting.

He starts to say a speech when a Media Giant commercial starts to play. The room starts to boo and throw popcore at the screen which makes her shrink into herself. “Guys, can someone…” Neil makes a cut motion towards Jonathan who quickly turns the TV off as the company name is said.

“It's okay. I know I can't compete with these big guys, but as long as I have you guys...my small and loyal following of geeks and weirdoes, I know I'll be alright. Everyone, have some more beer! Oh, and stick around, because later on…we are gonna have a special midnight screening of a 1949 classic She-Gorilla.” Neil says, the little speech making her smile even though she does feel conflicted because of how much of her life is engrained in Media Giant.

The night goes well, Y/N gets to meet a lot of people in the store and drinks plenty, enjoying being able to be around like minded people for a while. 

“Y/N/ Y/N!” Neil says, catching her attention. He motions her over which she follows immediately. She leans against the counter as Jonathan makes some drinks, she found out he was a bartender at a place not too far from here. “How was that, guys? You're not supposed to show ads for two different video stores...during the same commercial break, alright?” Neil says sadly.

“Who cares? When is the show again?” Jonathan asks, sipping on his beer. “Oh my god, 3:12 a.m.” Neil says but she zones out as she watches Neil’s lips move as he drinks his drink. She blinks quickly when Jonathan walks away, leaving the two alone.

“What did you think, honestly.” He asks, knowing he might get the most honest answer from the woman he met only a couple of hours ago. “I thought it was cool. The concept was nice and definitely will stick out. I’m also guessing that girl in the commercial was your girlfriend.” She says, trying to get more information on the girlfriend situation.

“Yeah, that’s Denise. She didn’t show up tonight, I think. She thinks this whole thing is a little stupid.” He admits, the alcohol making him more open than normal. “Ew, that’s not good. I understand being skeptical but to think this is stupid is not a good thing girlfriend wise. You’re supposed to support your partner, and even if you don’t like the idea then be nice about it.”

He nods, “Yeah, that’s what I thought. I don’t think I’m gonna be with her much longer anyway. We don’t have a lot in common.” He says and she nods. An empathetic look on her face as she tries to hide her giddiness.

The two talk for a moment longer before he walks away to continue to mingle. She smiles to herself before also going to find more people to talk to.

The rest of the night is fun with the screening going well before people start to leave, Y/N included until Neil stops her. “Hey, um, I was wondering. Could I get your number, just incase I need help here at the store or something?” He asks, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

“Yeah, I don’t mind at all.” She gives him her number before looking at him with a bright smile. “Have a good night, Neil.” She gets on her tiptoes and kisses his cheek before walking away, a sway in her step as she feels his eyes on her.

Everyone’s backstories are mostly the same, the whole DL-6 incident was the same, Maya’s whole situation, etc.

Miles is a rookie defense attorney, at the age of 18 he ran away from his adoptive father and managed to get a job at Fey and Co. he’s optimistic and slightly naive, but has a bit of a snarky side. He became a defense attorney to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Phoenix hates the idea of criminals, like Larry when they were kids but on a bigger scale, getting off free. He’s cold and collected, he even idolized Manfred von Karma during his time in law school, and strives for a perfect record like his, but he does seem to have a soft side.

Maya went with Mia when she left Kuran, she only visited the village every now and then to practice channeling, but she’s very naturally talented. She has a bit of a sadistic streak, loves watching the defendants squirm as Nick presents his case, shes his assistant.

Franziska works as Miles’s assistant, she’s incredibly clever, and would make a great detective or attorney if she tried, though she has a tendency to play the fool, cracking jokes and keeping her cards hidden. She ran away from home 1 year after Miles did. Fran is laid back and casual, she smokes a lot of weed.

GUMSHOE AND MAGGEY they’re working together it’s so cute IT LOOKS LIKE THEY’RE RUNNING TOWARDS GODOT AND CONSIDERING THAT IRIS AND SISTER BIKINI ARE HERE, THAT MEANS THIS WOULD HAVE TO BE POST-AA3

Which mean Iris should be in jail (i mean actually no she shouldn’t, women can do what they want and she did nothing wrong smh) and that Godot would definitely be in jail

The time of day changes. The AA3 one is set at night, the AA1 one is later in the day, probably early evening, and the AA2 one is like midday

The office is the same in each image, including those books in the shelves which never change places because no one ever reads them. AND OH MY GOSH I JUST REALIZED THAT THE THING NEXT TO MILES IN THE AA3 IMAGE IS THE AUTOGRAPH HE GOT FROM WILL THAT MEANS IT IS REASONABLE TO ASSUME THAT THESE ALL TAKE PLACE IN THE SAME DAY?? Weirdly, it would have to go AA2, AA1, AA3 unless the AA1 image is actually in the morning and not early evening…you could assume that the AA2 image comes first as the light from the window is bright and Phoenix is holding that cup which is then knocked over in the AA1 image (unless they cleaned up the spill from AA1 and now Phoenix is drinking from that cup.) Also AA1 has him in his full suit, so I guess it would make more sense if that one came first and then AA2 because he isn’t wearing his suit jacket in that one and his sleeves are rolled up

AA3 is definitely last though because I JUST REALIZED THE CARD IN HIS POCKET IS PROBABLY FROM MAX and also he rolled his sleeves back down

The only thing that would lead me to believe that these cannot take place in the same day is how much that spider web changes. It isn’t there in AA1, it’s there in AA2, and then it’s bigger in AA3

Regardless of all of that, these images are truly among my favourites and I’ve spent like 45 minutes at LEAST typing all of this so yeah and there might have been things I missed but I’ve already typed a lot

Summary

THIS GAME WAS SO FUCKING GOOD. The setup throughout the whole trilogy was great, especially all within Trials and Tribulations. I love how bits and pieces of each case(or even large portions) had a ton of relevance to the final case. The characters were amazing and had great development, I loved playing as Mia and Edgeworth, that was such a delight, and im so glad we got to battle it out against Franziska as edgeworth. I love the other 2 games but the cohesiveness of the entire story within this game was spectacular. It truly reminded me of DGS 1&2 and why i love it so much. I really love how we also got to see young feenie, bratworth, and mia, the dialogue was especially entertaining. I cannot get over the twists and turns of the last case. I could never have predicted what was going to happen. I love complex mysteries like this, they're so entertaining but also im constantly thinking 'how do you even plan this all out?' The narumitsu in this game is so perfect too... omg. Incredible game , I absolutely loved it!

1) note of the turnabout

I don't actually have to say much about this one. kudos for not teaching us stuff we already know, but it suffers from severe first-case-mediogrity that only the lost turnabout ever really escaped... it was fun having gumshoe as our defendant and the hookup of the note as the only unused piece of evidence that everyone else fails to acknowledge was interesting, the case itself wasn't outright bad and fullfilled its role, which is why it gets a solid 5/10

this case immediately picked up my interest in a way that note of the turnabout unfortunately didn't. I mean, viola contacting us again?? tender lender comeback and development!! someone murdering a fucking cadaverini??? this has got to be something serious. instant intrigue!

I really appreciate using the tender lender and cadaverini to start tying into all that's going to be revealed. I mean yes! they are the small glimpse we got earlier into the same dark side this case is beginning to unravel! viola fits the vibe, makes sense to be used, is underappeciated in the fandom and I'm glad to see more of her!

viola fanboying aside, I was kinda overwhelmed by the intensity of it all at one point, when the logic thread lead us to Larry was getting accused. that's not neccessarily really a bad thing, or a flaw, but the stress did damage my enjoyment. the prosecutor was just relentless and we could make very little counterargument because of the severe lack of information, and because we were meant to lose, but I think it wasn't really Bad per se. that's when the fact that its a story first and a trial simulator second really begins to shine. I haven't decided how I feel about the fact we're actually meant to lose sometimes, it is very interesting and innovative, but sometimes it made me outright desperate.

and how could I forget! the wet kitten supreme umaru keigo and his tragic reveal! I liked that I think. despite him being a bitch as a prosecutor in this case

anyway the general score is probably gonna be... like 7/10 or 8/10, points taken off mostly for Larry and for stress.

3) turnabout judgement

I'm gonna shove my "the judge actually IS corrupt" agenda in the closet for now because in this case he's not guilty. AND GOD DAMN IT WAS SCARY FINDING OUT THE PERSON I NEED TO GET MY FRIEND OUT OF TROUBLE, THE PERSON WHO WAS RELIABLY ALWAYS THERE, THE PERSON WHO YOU THOUGHT IS GLUED TO HIS JUDGE CHAIR IS BEING DETAINED AND INVESTIGATED RIGHT NOW. remember how I praised arrival on the turnabout for being gripping? forget that! turnabout judgement scared me shitless within the first few minutes. it's getting at least five points for that instantly.

I don't really understand people who say that hanma is supposed to be innocent, sweet and umsuspectable, like dahlia. because.... no she's not. she's scary, shady and an asshole right from the start, – then we just get to learn more and more and more about her motivation and about her doings. which I enjoy very much! I think she's a great character. at least two points to this case for having her in it.

BUT MY FAVORITE PART ABOUT THIS CASE ISN'T HER! its her sus as fuck pet judge, aka the specialest most unique judge ever, aka my perfect man yasuhiro tomioka!!!! omfg can we get a shoutout for yasuhiro tomioka I barely ever even see fanart of him Please. this case gets three points on the spot for having this man in it.

but here comes the final evaluation time, and just when it seemed like this case has effortlessly reached victory....

I fucking hate the evidence in this case and the case itself. the evidence is so flimsy and hard to work with I barely pulled myself to the end of the trial, constantly making mistakes because I was just trying to be logical, and lost a couple times which in other cases never happens to me.

(and yes there is a variant of loss that's not meant to happen, not the guilty verdict which is.) oh my fucking god I wish I could score it higher but beating the case shaved at least a few years off my lifespan, so I'm shaving off four points off this case. 6/10

(upd I realized that only started doing points math in this part of the ranking but its too late to go back and edit the rest now isn't it) (it isn't I just dont want to)

9/10, 0.8 points taken off for pressure and loss stress, good god there's a lot of stress in this, 0.2 points off for lang's brother because I didn't case about him.

5) turnabout obsession

is it fine that I was actually thinking edgeworth did it..?

that's mostly because I was concerned about his moral compass tilt during "revengeworth" arc and I genuinely didn't know what to expect of him next.

the evidence pointing towards him was flimsy and I didn't have that much of a hard time poking holes in it, but I was still doubting edgeworth the whole time.

which I shouldn't have because that's exactly what that detective bitch wanted.

I didn't really care about basil bonerat until this case but after playing this one... I love him actually! yes I obviously hate him for what he did but hes so fucked in the head its incredibly interesting. luke atmey type of shit except arguably worse. also very revolutionary of him to be the first detective culprit!

8/10 with 1 point off for killing off hanma and 1 point off for a couple of things here and there that didn't really make sense, which im usually able to ignore with ace attorney, but wasn't able this time because of the grip the story had on me. gripping concepts is what the developers really poored their heartussy into and it shows.

kudos for sebastian and the lesbianism, but the culprit was very obvious the whole time and unfortunately I really fail to believe in sean and hanma's relationship. if they were given more time or moments or anything I probably would've cared way more than I did but unfortunately. still dont get this part of the fandom that writes 120k fics about sea sapphics and meta posts about how they both know so little about each other (duh that's the problem), but im built different I guess. unfortunately this gets 4/10 or even 3/10. probably 4 though out of respect for nonbinary lesbians

Ace Attorney: Kristoph Gavin

just wanted to put down some notes for a kristoph fic i wanna write whenever i need to take a break from my two pmd longfics

a compilation of four different cases kristoph gavin takes during the seven-year gap. one with apollo, one with beanix, one with ema, one with klavier (not necessarily in that order)

apollo: a month into his employment at gavin law offices. apollo's very first investigation. kristoph notices apollo's incredible skills of observation. if he didn't know any better, he'd almost call it supernatural. he was going to be quite the invaluable asset during trial preparation...apollo becomes a mainstay at kristoph's side from this point forwards. kristoph finds great amusement in making 'justice' puns. kristoph is slightly surprised that apollo doesn't bat an eye at investigating crime scenes, even though it's technically against the law. most rookies are. it's a welcome one. clay terran is the one accused of murder. gumshoe is the assigned detective. either that or (NOT PHANTOM) fulbright takes this case, and gummy shares the spotlight with ema. actually yeah i think i like that better.

ema: ema is willing to help kristoph bc he's phoenix's friend/friend with benefits/romantic partner??? she doesn't quite know what to make of them. kristoph keeps her guessing. this is the first investigation that ema's lead, so gumshoe is there as a sort of...senior consultant ig. not quite mentor. ema has picked up a bit of a smoking habit at this point. it's unbecoming of someone in the force, the smoke irritates kristoph's eyes and nose, the smell is going to linger on his suit, and not to mention the dangers of second-hand smoking...he manages to convince her to put down the cigarette in exchange for stress eating. 'wright gave me these...snackoos, the other day, would you like some?' the day ema hears about kristoph's arrest, she has the sudden urge to pick up smoking again. she won't though. people she admired being criminals? that's. fine. she's used to that. she's not going to let it ruin her. (the snackoos taste like ash on her tongue.)

klavier: klavier calls kristoph to help him figure out a particularly tough case. kristoph jokes about it being repayment for him not being able to face him down in court during klavier's first trial. klavier...isn't sure if he finds it funny. featuring: the gavinners (kristoph is fine with klavier's music career, it's quite illustrious, even if he personally isn't a fan of the genre (too noisy!) but a band? he's disapproving. too many people makes it hard to maintain perfection. and! the commercialisation of law enforcement that comes with a themed band is...well, he's not fond of it, to say the least.) a somewhat comfortable somewhat uneasy brotherly dynamic, daryan (kristoph despises his unruly conduct and lax work ethic, but begrudingly respects his adherence to code and nearly encyclopaedic knowledge of anything foreign affairs), and gavin-typical perfectionism (it runs in the family) also something to do with atroquinine? probably the murder weapon. klavier gets his inspo for his atroquinine song during this case

beanix: phoenix happens to be visiting the office as kristoph goes out for the investigation. kristoph decides to invite him along. 'why not come along? after all, it's not very often you get to relive the glory days, yes?' it's a taunt, a trap, accepting would be to invite pain into himself. phoenix knows this. phoenix accepts. homoerotic passive aggressive mental war ensues. there's definitely some clashing of investigative styles, but even if there's conflict, the unholy union of 'the turnabout terror' and 'the coolest defence in the west' when focused on one goal: finding the client innocent/the truth is merciless and unyielding. this is incredibly distressing to sebastian/eustace, who is the poor soul who has to try and hold back the veritable force of nature about to crash into and tear the prosecution's case apart, by any means necessary. kay is the assigned detective. she's excited to finally meet 'that man', but she's also confused by the whole thing that he and kristoph have going on? she thought phoenix and miles were together... whatever, she'll ask him later. (phoenix might decide to bring trucy along? i will decide that later.)
