Yknow something that gets me abt certain fanon depictions of kai is that heā€™s portrayed with no sense of self preservation, as if heā€™s self sacrificing and burned out, and I think I dislike it bc it feels like the opposite of his character most of the time.
Yeah some of the actions he takes are harmful to himself in some way, but itā€™s never intended to, they were ways of coping and making himself feel better.
Like the green ninja plot, he is insecure in his place, so he strives for the highest title to make him feel better.
The red shogun isnā€™t him beating himself up and not caring about his own well being. He was winning fights, fully engaging in the job, taking his frustration out on others and drinking away his issues, and yeah thereā€™s self loathing in that, but thereā€™s also him trying to make himself feel better, to redirect hurt away from himself.
Him prematurely concluding his parents were the bad guys in s7, is (imo) his way of rationalising his mixed feelings, in order to keep himself okay.
Heā€™s not a reckless war machine who throws himself into battle with no hesitation, he tries to keep himself safe.
Kai is self-prioritised and yknow I think people in general really demonise that kinda of trait both in fiction and irl and thatā€™s actually kind of harmful. The self sacrificial trait is so grossly over romanticised and idk itā€™s a breathe of fresh air when you see a character who doesnā€™t start out that way or end that way. Like nothing wrong with that trait being written, itā€™s just like sometimes it feels like people are only allowed to prioritise themselves if they previously have no sense of self care, bc then itā€™s seen as a healthy improvement. But in any other case, it means youā€™re selfish and thatā€™s a bad thing apparently.
Like no. Being selfish and loving yourself and thinking you are hot shit and the smartest person alive and prioritising things that make you happy. None of that makes you evil or morally wrong. If in attempts to meet your needs you try to hurt someone else, or end up hurting yourself, then the action you took was bad but the intent isnā€™t! Fuck the media that finds people loving themselves as immorally wrong! Fuck it! It is not sexy to hate yourself actually.
I want more fanon Kais indulge in activities that make him happy, Kais that make bad decisions in trying to protect himself and Kais that have good coping mechanisms because heā€™s still trying to protect himself heā€™s just found better ways of doing it.
Bc itā€™s canon and it feels like it gets erased a bit because people somehow donā€™t find self love appealing unless the character was self hating first.

It didnā€™t hit me until recently that people genuinely think Kamala Harris was a police officer because of all the people who call her a cop online.
Like I think maybe itā€™s important people should know she was a prosecutor. She was once a district attorney and later an attorney general for the state of California. And we can discuss how related that is to police work and how tied she is to the carceral system etc etc (but for fairness would have to include her record of pushing for lowering incarceration rates through programs helping former prisoners + her office refusing to jail folks for low level weed offense). But she was never a police officer. Like people should get that clear. Kamala Harris was never a police officer. She was a district attorney. She was never a police officer.

listen I know it's heartbreaking that Claudia dies and it's understandable to wish she didn't, but let's please not accuse the writers of fridging her. to do so is a fundamental misunderstanding of the story and is frankly insulting to the intelligence and skill of the writers of the show.
Claudia's death, and the overwhelming grief and regret her parents experience because of it, is quite literally the point of the entire story. she dies because Anne's daughter Michele died of leukemia when she was five years old and there was nothing she or her husband could do to prevent it.
writing IWTV was how Anne coped with the unimaginable loss of a parent losing her child. she created a story about a little girl that could not die and then killed her anyway. Claudia's death is a senseless, unavoidable tragedy, just like Michele's was. the grief that haunts Louis and Lestat for the rest of their lives is the same grief that haunted Anne and her husband.
so when you're accusing people of killing Claudia off to benefit a story about two men, please remember that in real life sometimes parents lose their children. please remember Michele Rice.

she's the reason Claudia exists.
she's also the reason Claudia cannot be saved.

Need a the Waynes Lived AU where Marthaā€™s a vampire. She snuck in a Wayne Gala for a potential late night snack, but Thomas thought she was a socialite.
ā€œSo, what do you do?ā€
ā€œI drain people of their life sources.ā€
ā€œOh, youā€™re a CEO too?ā€
She canā€™t drink Thomasā€™ blood because he smokes too much, the baggy eyes indicate long nights spent on his feet during surgery, which means itā€™ll taste bitter, and she saw him drown 10 whiskey shots in one go.
Itā€™s a taste thing, nothing against him.
He is, how ever, very handsome, and she decided sheā€™ll be his house cat for the time being. Fast forward two years later and they have a vampire cherub of a baby named Bruce.
Babies usually donā€™t come out with fangs and tiny bat wings, so, yeah. His wifeā€™s a vampire. Cool.
ā€œHow come Iā€™ve never seen your wife outside during the daytime, Tom??ā€
ā€œHow come Iā€™ve never seen you mind your own fucking business?ā€

Several weeks ago one of my coworkers called me over into her cubicle and gave me a very unexpected gift. Her mother passed away recently, and she'd been packing stuff up at her condo to give to relatives and sell, so the home could be sold. The mother was an avid knitter and crocheter, and when my coworker came upon her stash of equipment, she told me, she "immediately thought of me as someone who might get some use out of it."
So, I have inherited a varied collection of knitting needles and crochet hooks, cable needles, sewing needles, and, best of all, now-out-of-print pattern books, mostly for blankets, because that was what this lady loved to make most. Plus, I also have a bunch of gauge swatches she made, pinned to little bits of card covered in perfect schoolteacher handwriting setting out the patterns they were made to test.
And also...
My coworker brought another bag, full of yarn and...knitted blanket squares. Her mother's last started project, before she got too sick to continue. And she asked if there was anything I could do with it.
It turned out, there are twelve completed squares, and I quickly located the pattern book they are from amid those given to me. It's a book of 60 patterns, meant to be put together however the maker wishes into blankets of 20 squares. I figured out which of the numbered patterns were already made, and selected eight more that I thought might go well with them.
So now! I am working on completing! My coworker's mother's last knitting project!
And I really am feeling very good about doing it.
