I think its actually really sad that Spencer and JJ's relationship really fell off after Emily's "death". He may forgive her to a point, but he never puts his full trust in her again. There's still an almost familial bond between the two, but after season 6, the amount of times that they're seen joking and being relaxed goes down. That could be because the writers didn't want to do any of that, but just viewing the content available, their relationship becomes almost completely professional. And especially when Alex joins the team, it's someone that Spence can relax with and rely on. She never teases him like JJ and Morgan do, and when she leaves the team it becomes more clear how alone he really is.

The whole prison stint kind of just reinforces how Reid can't rely on anyone in the team to help him, especially when JJ visited and having a pretty lady visit you in prison is bound to turn heads.

The whole thing in the last season of JJ telling Reid that she loves him and he's her first love really bothered me. And I felt like it put Spencer's feelings to the side, it made him be the selfish one for wanting what he didn't know was actually on the table because JJ already had a family. I also felt like that whole plot line was fanservice for all the people who thought JJ and Reid shouldve been together the whole time.

Overall, I do still love their relationship on the surface, but so much of the growth of their relationship was wasted and ignored and became stilted.

from then on the dynamic that gets established is paris recognizing that people are sucking up in a way he doesnt like, both because he is prince and because he does genuinely project power and has that kind of magnetism. he really hates this. just does not respect anyone who tries to befriend him but is nonetheless surrounded by orbiters. he gets more and more avoidant and anti-social as he gets older. lorelai is basically the only person he likes talking to. i think they were lab partners or something.

But similarly, there are probably things that Dorian went through with Dariax and Fy'ra Rai and Morrighan and Opal and Cyrus that shifted their world sideways, or were close calls, or were awful and altering. Dorian's been gone from Bell's Hells, and the Bell's Hells have been gone from Dorian.

Its gonna be fascinating, seeing the gaps in knowledge, the way Bell's Hells have changed, irreversibly, since they were last together, and the way that Dorian will see that, or experience that. Passing details from people who grew together without you. Huge fixtures and events that are just background noise to them now. Bodies in a hole, Eshteross dead, lightning criss-crossing Imogen's skin, Fearne's father, Laudna sprouting branches, Ashton's skin turned to stone. Sleeping arrangements that might have shifted, Imogen not wincing when she enters crowded rooms, Chetney's ease with his own powers.

What will Bell's Hells remember to tell him, and maybe more critically. What will they forget to tell him, because it just doesn't seem important to them anymore. (But its still important. And he wasn't there.)

as i said, the au takes place post-ruin, mostly. the ending cassie follows is, she got the secret cameras, got the scooper room unlocked, went in..

and the mimic was faster than her. it blocked her from going into the control area, and it turned on the scooper. it is.. not designed for organic creatures, nor for someone of cassies size.

she is injured, badly. she survives - the scooper injected her with some remnant which hurt, but it did save her life, however that feature is.. not supposed to be used on organic creatures. but, well. shes not quite dead, but shes not.. great.

on her tredge back through the pizzaplex, after she wakes up from her incident with the scooper alive, she finds roxy (more damaged than before, but functioning fine), chica (who she sort of-fixed, and is functioning pretty well), and eclipse (who, aside from missing a foot, seems to be in the best condition). she takes all of them with her (well, okay, eclipse carries her a decent chunk of the way, cause walking after getting scooped sucks and her legs keep giving out, and she doesnt even have something else controlling her body like a certain someone did.)

i debated having the mimic use her corpse like a suit to escape, but that feels a bit too on the nose. (nothing was preventing it from getting out other ways, though.)

if you cant tell, this is absolutely supposed to be a “history repeats itself” type thing with the ennard and mike situation.

additionally, cassie’s vocal chords were messed up by the scooper, but ahe can speak pretty easily when using the mask as she doesnt need to use her vocal chords - it just uses her thoughts.

frat au is only Sort Of based on The Frat (dear readers, this fanfiction author joined a fraternity and is a brother of [loud car horn]). due to the like ways fe3h works narratively, it felt a lot more true to a Good AU to be honest to an all-male fraternity, so it draws on The Frat's past (as we didnt haze, but hazing definitely used to occur) as well as info from other fraternities or fraternity-like structures (and a handful of How Do College-Age Boys Behave anecdotes coming directly from my real life college-age brother who is Not a frat boy).

sylvain, dimitri, and others are in a frat. their fathers (plus rodrigue lol) were in this frat. etc. not exactly explored but crucial to the narrative: how traditional fraternities uphold like lineage and legacies in college settings and why that creates bad gatekeeping etc etc etc. basically the ways fraternities suck on an individual level (hazing, unhealthy relationship to substances, pressure to conform to a certain set of standards, etc) AND the ways they operate on a structural level in a shitty way.

the plot however is: sylvain returns from some time off at university. in his time off, he's effectively ghosted his friends and no one knows what happened/why he vanished. felix is recovering from an injury that delayed his journey to become a professional tennis star (<- lol). they've known each other for so long, they both have dead brothers, but also how much do they really know about each other?
