It looks like they found out you went to the church. The Father must have stirred up the search for you, somehow. Leaving the town was the right action. Zack: Geeze, whatta pain in the ass. Summary: Ethan and Y/N are neighbors. And although Y/N is on good terms with Ethan’s twin brother Grayson, Y/N and Ethan loathe each other and are constantly in dispute. Ethan is a popular varsity football player, who likes to be in the spotlight. Y/N prefers to stay under the radar while reading books and poetry.

Although the constant bickering between the two drives everyone around them crazy - the two live their separate lives peacefully. At least that’s how it was until they wake up one morning and everything was changed…

As soon as Grayson parked his car in front of Austin’s house you wanted to leave. There was loud music playing, and not even good music. It was only 10:20pm but the driveway to the house was already filled with trash. Empty red solo cups laid in the grass and you could see old cigarette butts still smoldering.

Grayson locked the car and walked towards the front door; which was open. You let Grayson enter first. This way you could copycat his way of behaving. Grayson greeted two boys who were standing in the hallway. He swung his arms around both their shoulders and pulled their heads to his chest.

‘Max! Ryan!’ Grayson smiled happily. Max and Ryan laughed and tried to escape from Grayson’s tight grip. They greeted Grayson with big smiles and turned to you, giving you a brotherly slap on your shoulders.

‘Ethan! Good to see you man!’ Max smiled at you. You grinned at the two boys.

‘Let’s go inside, get you guys a drink!’ Ryan said, walking towards the kitchen. ‘Austin said we could take whatever we want,’ he explained while opening the fridge. Your eyes widened at the sight of the beer bottles and the big bottle of Grey Goose vodka.

To your relief, Grayson declined the beer Max handed to him.

‘Still playing the saint?’ Max joked, but you couldn’t help but notice the hint of annoyance in his voice.

‘Gotta keep a clean record so I can get that scholarship, Max,’ Grayson explained calmly while grabbing a soda can from the fridge. ‘Not all of us have rich parents who’ll pay anything to get us in a good college.’

Your eyebrows rise in surprise. Grayson’s shady comment clearly doesn’t go unnoticed by Max either but before he could reply, Grayson grabs another soda can and your arm and pulls you towards the living room.

‘Asshole,’ Grayson mutters angerly as he sips from his soda. You make a vague gesture with your shoulders as a reaction. From your place in the living room you had a great view over the driveway. You hoped Ethan would arrive soon.

He texted you earlier this night how he would be bringing Olivia, as it would have been weird if ‘you’ showed up alone at Austin’s party. He had sent you screenshots of his conversation with Olivia when he told her they were going to the party. Taking in the account that he was coming with Olivia explained the fact that he was late. Olivia was horrible at making choices when it came to clothing. You had to bite your lip to stop yourself from laughing at the idea of Olivia grabbing, what she would think was your hand, pulling Ethan into her room, and showing Ethan all the outfits she picked out for tonight. You would have paid at least 20 bucks to see Ethan's reaction to Olivia walking around in her bra and underwear, talking like there was no tomorrow.

‘Your girlfriend is here.’

You broke your staring contest with the driveway and looked at Grayson. ‘Who is here?’

Grayson nodded towards the side, your eyes followed and landed on Sophia.

‘She’s not my girlfriend!’ You told Grayson angerly and he raised his hands in defense.

‘Okay, your fuckbuddy, or whatever you wanna call it,’ he grinned and rolled your eyes, clenching your jaw in annoyance.

‘She’s not my fu-‘

‘Ethan!’

Sophia’s arms wrapped themselves around your shoulders and pull you close to her.

‘Hi Sophia,’ you greet her awkwardly. She turned you around and smiled happily at you, her breath smelling like red wine. You can see Grayson walking away from the corner of your eyes. So much for brother-love, apparently.

‘Hi babe!’ Sophia started to lean in. Just in time, you realized how she’s about to kiss you. You quickly turn your head and her lips touch your cheek. You can feel your cheeks heating up, your face twisting in embarrassment.

‘Do you want a drink? I can get us something?’ You ask her before she can retry kissing you. She takes a second to think about it.

‘Actually yes. Could you get me a glass of red wine?’ She flickers her lashes at you - probably under the impression of it being ‘cute’ while it just makes her look like she has something in her eyes.

You unwrap yourself from her arms and walk toward the kitchen. You fill a glass with wine for Sophia and cruse when you spill some on the white countertop. You quickly wipe it away with a kleenex and get another soda from the fridge for yourself. It takes a second to convince yourself you really shouldn’t take a sib (or the whole bottle) of that Grey Goose vodka - just to make yourself a little more comfortable.

You walk towards the kitchen door, eyes focused on the glass on wine, trying not to spill more. Just when you want to take a look where you’re going, a body collides with yours.

A yelp leaves your mouth, scared you’ll spill wine on yourself. Luckily you only spill some wine over your hand and not on your own shirt or the person you bumped into.

‘Y/N? Why do you have wine?’

You look up and see your own face. ‘Ethan!’ You breathe, relieved seeing him.

‘The wine is for Sophia, she wanted some,’ you explained yourself, putting the glass down and washing your hands. Ethan nodded and refilled the glass while your dried your hands.

‘I’m glad you’re here. I’m already so ready to leave! Grayson snapped at Max and Sophia cornered me and tried to kiss me!’ You told Ethan.

‘I’m sorry I’m late but that’s completely Olivia’s fault! She made me choose an outfit! And she started changing in front of me! Is that normal for girls? Do you get naked in front of each other all the time?!’ Ethan's cheeks turn a light shade of pink. You chuckle at his discomfort.

‘C’mon, like you’ve never seen a girl in her bra before!’ You joke but Ethan ignores it. You two walk towards the living room to hand Sophia her drink.

‘You said Grayson scolded at Max, why was that?’ Ethan asked, his face close to your face so you could hear him over the loud music.

‘Don’t really know. Something about Gray and I not wanting a beer and Max mumbling something about Grayson playing for a saint.’ You explained to Ethan. He clenched his jaw in frustration.

‘Max is always trying to push us into drinking and doing drugs. I think we’re losers for trying to stay clean.’ Ethan said. ‘But, unlike Max, we really need a scholarship to pay for college.’ He huffed in annoyance. You notice his discomfort when mentioning the scholarships and stop walking and turn to Ethan.

‘That what Grayson said too!’ You smiled at him and you rest your hand on his. ‘And Gray also said that you shouldn’t worry too much about those scholarships because you both will be all right. He said multiple ivy leak schools already contacted the coach!’

Ethan sighs deep and you can see his shoulders relax. ‘Yea, you’re right. Thanks, wiseass.’

Before you can react to the nickname you hate a high pitch scream fills your ears.

‘Here you are!’ Sophia’s claw-like hands grab your arm and pull you away from Ethan. The wine in your hand almost spills for the third time that night. Sophia, however, grabs it from your hands: just in time. She downs the whole glass in a way she could do a fraternity proud and gives you a sly smile when she finishes.

‘Why were you talking to that girl E?’ She pouts as she wraps her arms around your shoulders and neck.

‘She’s such a nerd! And ugly too!’ Ouch, that hurts.

‘I mean have you seen what she’s wearing? Such a nun! I’d rather be a slut than such a prude!’ Sophia pushes you back towards where everyone is dancing. You quickly look at Ethan, who is talking to Olivia. He’s wearing a black turtleneck with a dark velvet green spaghetti strap top. He tucked both into high waisted jeans and combined them with boots. You know that Olivia helped him pick because you would never wear something like that yourself.

‘I think she looks nice,’ you say and Sophia gives you an annoyed look. Jealous?

‘She’s a bitch and a know-it-all! How do you even know her!?’

‘She’s my fr-’ you stop yourself before you could finish that word. Were you and Ethan friends?! You shake your head to clear your mind. You and Ethan could never be friends. You hate him!

‘She’s in my history class and my project partner.’ You correct yourself. But Sophia is too far gone to be really listening. She has her eyes closed and slowly dances to the music. She pushes herself close against you and again you are confronted by the fact how tall and broad Ethan was. You awkwardly hold her so she doesn’t fall. A smile formed around her red lips and she starts to grind against you, front to front.

‘So-Sophia what are you doing?’ You mumble, feeling the blood rush to your head, buzzing in your ears. Sophia, however, either does not hear you or does not care. She turns around and presses her ass firmly against your lower parts. You recoil your body as fast as you can, but Sophia is just as fast as she turns around again and grabs your firmer.

‘Hmm Ethan,’

You almost choke in your own saliva when you hear Sophia’s moans. This is not fucking happening. You can feel her hands and long acrylic nails run along your arms, along with the goose bumps, which are not caused by excitement but utter discomfort. Your eyes dart around the room, desperately looking for help.

‘Let’s go upstairs Eth, I’ll let you have your way with me,’ Sophia moans, slowly kissing your neck. Her hand travels lower and lower until it is at your belt. She lays her hand on Ethan’s junk and you jump away. That’s the last straw, you think. I’m not going to let myself and Ethan be sexually assaulted by a bitch like Sophia.

‘I’d rather not, actually. I’m gonna leave.’ You say and push her back on her own feet.

‘No you’re not!’ Sophia hisses and grabs your belt. ‘You can’t just deny me when I say I want to have sex with you! I’m the hottest girl in the school!’

‘Well Sophia, I know what you’re like in bed and I’m good for the night. If I wanted a groaning foaming animal I’d visit a zoo!’ You jank her hands off your arms and walk away.

‘I wouldn’t walk away if I were you Ethan Dolan. Or I’ll tell everyone you only last three seconds!’ You turn towards Sophia.

‘Everyone already knows that’s not true,’ you say calmly raising your eyebrow at the drunk girl. She looks like she’s about to cry but you don’t feel bad for her. ‘Just like how everyone already knows that you used your sister’s ID to get a boob-job.’ You thank Olivia for her love for gossip once again. You turn around and walk away to find Grayson.

‘Ethan! Ethan!’ Sophia follows you around the house, screaming for your attention. You walk outside when you can’t find Grayson and suddenly hear Sophia stumble. You turn around, just in time to see her vomit over the front lawn. Your faces twist in disgust.

‘That’s vile.’ You hear a familiar voice. You turn and see yourself.

‘Ethan!’ Your voice dripping with relief. ‘I’ve been looking for you and Grayson, I want to go home.’ Ethan nodded, still looking at Sophia, who is leaning on the side of the house while still spitting out some of her dinner.

‘Let’s get her inside and we’ll look for Grayson.’ Ethan says and the two of you bring Sophia inside. You put her on the couch while Ethan gets a cup of water. The two of you wait with her when she drinks the cub, her eyes still being vague from all the alcohol.

‘I cannot believe that you used to fuck her,’ you say when Sophia closes her eyes as she lays down flat on the couch. Ethan stays quiet and looks at Sophia with a weird expression on his face.

‘You know she tried to grab your dick when we were alone? That's sexual assault!’ You look at Ethan but he only raises his shoulders.

‘You sure you didn’t get a hard-on?’ He smirks after two seconds and you push his shoulder.

‘I could never! Not from Sophia!’

i feel like a lot of ryers stuff has the idea that richie moves to hawkins so let’s switch that

will byers moves across the country to derry, maine and the fresh start isn’t quite what he thought it would be

joyce rents a two bedroom house and there’s no Johnathan’s Room anymore, no place for will to go and lay on the floor and turn on the boombox and let The Shins drown out the biting wind in his ears

it’s two stories, with stairs that creak under his feet and the basement isn’t like theirs was back home, solely for storm shelter. there’s shelves all along the walls for canning and storage and will spends a whole day down there exploring

anyway he rolls up to derry high school on the first day of sophomore year, his mom sitting in their idling car near the buses, and shoulders his backpack

he keeps his head up

because this is the first time he’s been able to restart and no one in derry knows, man. he’s got the chance to reinvent himself which is every teenagers dream!!

he slides into his first period homeroom class and there’s a kid in the back who looks as apprehensive as will feels and the boy introduces himself as ben hanscom after class, offering to show will around

“ive been the new kid before” he says, warm and with a smile and will gets a big lump in his throat because he misses dustin SO BAD

ben hanscom invites him to sit with his friends at lunch and will stands through the lunchline for what feels like forever, anxiety swimming in his stomach

but the Party (not a party, will, they’re not the same try not to think of that) is so welcoming and kind?

eddie kaspbrak is a small boy who pauses mid-rant about the disgusting boys bathroom on the third floor to offer his hand out for will to shake

beverly marsh has max’s firey hair and el’s powerful nature and she winks at will and says something about his haircut and will blushes and ducks his head because while he’s not really interested in women, beverly marsh is everyone’s weak spot/exception

stan uris is quiet and will almost glosses right over him until stan says something wry out of the corner out of his mouth, stopping the entire group in their laughing and joking and they’re deathly still until stan’s facade cracks and he grins at them, all dimples

bill denbrough is will’s favorite right away. his eyes are alight and he smiles out of the side of his mouth, guarded, and he makes will feel kind of like the only person in the world when he talks to him

he compliments will’s notebook which is covered in little doodles and will has a weird moment when he’s like Wow i would do anything for bill denbrough? whom i have just met?

basically bill denbrough has +20 charisma and will saves that thought in his back pocket to revisit later

and finally

there’s richie

richie laughs while eating and sprays milk all over the table and has coke bottle glasses and a dumb goofy grin

he ruffles will’s hair when bev compliments it, sticking his hand across the table and rubbing down just a little too hard

will slaps his hand away, so used to johnathan doing it, and richie laughs and laughs

stan explains richie to him while the other boy is turning his attention to eddie kaspbrak who swears at him, saying “whenever richie needs to shut up, we just say beep beep richie and that does the trick”

will doesn’t get the chance to try out the trick until lunch is almost over, warning bell ringing and everyone scrambling to wrap up the rest of their lunches for later or to throw away

and as will stands up, a book falls out of his backpack

it’s a Dungeons and Dragons guide, the one mike used to map out their campaign

(”take this with you,” mike says, thrusting the book into will’s hands. they’re standing in the bare byers living room, hands stuffed in pockets and surrounded by cardboard boxes.

“no, you need it,” will argues “you gotta finish the campaign” and man this hurts really fucking bad

“i bought a new one,” mike says quickly, making will take the book and wrap his fingers around it “besides, we all signed this one”

will opens the front cover and there’s writing all along the inside, little notes and drawings from the Party to him

will holds it to his chest and then brings mike into a hug, the last one before he leaves hawkins for probably forever)

“what’s this?” richie says, holding it out and will tries to snatch it back but richie’s fast “this is some next level nerd shit” he says

and will knows he’s kidding but years of being called freak dont do well for self esteem and will is blinking back tears before he can stop himself

“beep beep richie” he says in a choked voice and nobody else but them is paying attention which will is thankful for because crying in front of his new friends is NOT COOL

and as soon as he says it, richie’s fingers go lax. he gives the book back without a second more of fight and will blinks and tries to calm down and richie’s just looking at him

“it’s from my friends” will explains and richie nods, little and thoughtful. there’s a beat, a moment of peace and silence, and then richie’s throwing his arm over will’s shoulders

“welcome to the losers club,” he says, warm and understanding

and will byers has a new party, a club full of laughter and love and a power he doesn’t yet understand

for the first time in a long time, will belongs again

but this is derry and in derry the dead don’t stay dead and that includes dead pasts

will opens his locker one day and a balloon floats out

it’s red, almost transparent from how overblown it is, and it drifts at exactly his height out into the hallway

will reaches a hand out, to touch and figure out who the fuck put that in his locker and what the fuck it is

and the balloon spins

ZOMBIE BOY it says in happy white letters

and will blinks and he’s in the Upside Down

it’s not real it cant be real but the cold is biting and the wind is chilling him to the bone and derry is covered in vines but it’s different this time? theres a smell of decay in the air that hawkins didnt have, the scent of actual real death and it smells like brick and concrete and a sewer and the bodies of hundreds of dead kids

will’s hyperventilating, crying and stuck frozen and the balloon is still there and it drifts towards him and it’s getting closer and the demogorgon isnt there but there’s something else, a presence of evil he can FEEL and it sounds like dripping water and fingernails on steel and breaking bones and wheezing breath

there’s lights in the distance, three of them swirling together in a drifting dance

just when will thinks it’s real, just when he’s giving into the swirling lights and blowing wind and the shiny red balloon

the balloon pops

the sound is a gunshot, shocking him out of the trance and will blinks and he’s back

he’s in the hallway and the balloon is gone and the Upside Down is gone and richie tozier is there

he’s got his hand outstretched towards will and he’s saying something that will cant hear over the rushing wind in his ears

“are you okay?” he thinks he sees richie mouth and he forces himself to nod

later, after he’s explained it all, richie tells will he found him staring at the wall, catatonic and crying

will wants to be embarrassed but he’s only grateful for richie for bringing him back

“it was a balloon?” richie says, voice hushed. they’re in the boys bathroom, crowded together in the furthest stall while they skip class

richie had stuck his sneakered foot on the toilet and hoisted himself up to open the window

he pulls a pack of cigarettes out of his back pocket and offers one to will, which he declines, before lighting up and taking a drag

“yeah” will responds

“fuck” he breathes out, smoke leaving his lungs and it smells strong enough that it erases the scent of this new Upside Down from will’s nostrils, replacing it with menthol and richie

“did you see…. a clown….” richie says and will wants to laugh but he looks serious

not just serious

richie looks downright scared

he’s shaking a little, the cherry of his smoke bobbing in the air and will knows that kind of fear, the primal urge to fight or flight and richie looks kind of tired and weary too

“no” will says and richie sighs, relieved

he doesnt want to tell richie he saw the past and the future at the same time, an alternate and adjacent universe far beyond anything either of them could comprehend

richie takes another drag off his cigarette and sets his jaw and will thinks he’s making a decision

“meet us at the clubhouse after school” he throws the cig out the open window and leaves will, the bell ringing in the distance

when will shows up in the barrens, backpack over his shoulders, they’re waiting for him

the clubhouse is hidden and will has been to it a few times and still sometimes has trouble picking it out, camoflauged with brush and leaves

he drops down into the ground and the whole Club is there

he draws his knees up to his chest as richie tells them all of how he found will, explaining the dead look in his eyes

(”they almost looked…. grey” he says and all the blood drains out of bill’s face in the light of a few candles)

richie hands it over to will to explain what he saw and will struggles through his explanation, trying not to let onto the fact that he’s some freak with Now Memories and a haunted fucked up past

but the Club doesn’t look… surprised? scared?

they look frightened and tired and weary and sympathetic

stan uris has his knees drawn to his chest and is running his fingers over the sides of his face, over faint scars will never noticed before

“sounds like…” eddie trails off

“i k-know what it s-s-sounds like,” bill says

“sounds like what?” will asks and hes kind of pissed off because they all look shifty

they’re hiding something, some secret related to balloons and death and fucking clowns and will byers is so FUCKING SICK of being out of the loop

of being left out of the plans because he’s weak and people are afraid of him getting hurt

“sounds like what?” he repeats and the group collectively flinches

“look, we don’t know exactly” ben starts

“it’s hard to pinpoint exact memories,” bev finishes for him and they share a look “we can’t keep track of all of it,”

“they c-c-come and go” bill says and eddie nods and richie looks sick and angry

“what happened here?” will asks, voice low

the group look at each other, the lucky seven sharing their cosmic energy and deciding to pull another into their chess game with death

they make a decision, an election, to tell the story, the history of their haunted town and the fog that covers it, the story of a manifestation of Evil and their ever-tiring fight against It

will feels richie’s hand slip into his, sweaty and shaking but grounding

he turns to look at richie and the boy is smiling at him, soft and guarded and will thinks he’s very lucky to have met this group, haunted pasts be damned

“derry,” mike hanlon starts, licking his lips, “is not like other towns”

P J a shipper? SHIP-A-THON ‘18

𝒫𝒶𝓇𝓉 𝒱𝐼𝐼

My case with the others:

Now the ships I like listed here are uncategorized by any series of the main-core anime series, such as QuestShipping. This pairing between Jimmy/Kenta (Trainer Gold’s anime counterpart) and Marina (Trainer Kris’s anime counterpart) can only be seen in the Legend of Thunder anime special. While their feelings for each other are flat out obvious, it’s nice to see a main protagonist that actually responds to a girl’s feelings for him *cough* *cough*

Other examples of unlisted pairings are Flint and Lola, Brock’s parents. They’re weird bunch if you’ve seen the anime specials they were in, but their love is definitely strong as a rock. Not even redesigning the Pewter gym to a water type gym with streamers around could break this marriage. And speaking about their son...

The case with Brock/Takeshi: Now Brock deserves a special mention for this ship-a-thon post he is always finding for new love every day with every girl his age or older he meets. Unfortunately 95% of that he gets reject and gets his ear pulled, or poison jabbed. But there is that 5% of females that do like him (he didn’t really like the younger ones back though). And out of all that liked him back, Pike Queen Lucy from Battle Frontier was my favorite one (LuckShipping). I really got mad at Max for dragging him out in the end of that episode, where we clearly see Lucy blush. What’s funny about all of this is that she probably only liked Brock because most of the Pokémon she had at home had the same eyes (e.g. Skitty, Swinub, Snorlax) as he did xD I bursted out laughing because of that scene. On the friends side of things, he was Ash’s first big bro and chef. It’s amazing to see how close they were traveling for 3 series straight (the only companion to do so). GymShipping (Brock and Misty) had some cute moments too, but mostly goofy ones (like with Max’s ear-pulling lol). Big bro Brock also applies with May when she helps him buy for traveling supplies in Hoenn, or with Dawn giving her advice to lighten up during her times of depression. WE <3 YOU BROCK, screw all the girls that rejected you!

RocketShipping / KojiMusa (Jessie/Musashi & James/Kojirō): The favorite villain ship of the series definitely has a special place here in the others section since they were basically in every series! Take that Butch & Cassidy (I kinda ship them too) with your unoriginal motto! Along with PokéShipping, this is one of the most respected older ships in the community (as it SHOULD BE for being the longest running one TO THIS DAY). I feel like they’re already a married couple discussing plans every night before going to bed on how to catch Pikachu. This also the first adult pairing I grew up loving whether they eat, argue, cheer (in Jessie’s contests and performances), or blast off together, it’s really nice to see a mature (not really if you think about it lol) pairing over the course of 20 years in this show. Favorite moment - All the episodes with Jessebelle/Rumika (James’s childhood “friend”) in it. I remember watching the first one where they introduced James parents, and actually seeing a good side of James for the very first time outside of Team Rocket. At the end of that episode is really when the ship was sold to me. James pulls Jessie aboard the Meowth balloon, and they look into each other's eyes promising to continue to live without anymore personal commitments and resume Team Rocket operations. I’m sure hardcore RocketShippers loved that scene as much as I did. Unfortunately because of that sweet moment, they forgot about Meowth who was still in the ground running to the balloon as the episode ended xD

Meowth’s/Nyarth’s loves: Meowth has had its fair share of romances too that deserves a bit of mentioning. Meowzie was the first one he fell for, and in fact was the reason why he can talk and walk like a human! Too bad she had preferred to be with the Persian :( That episode broke my heart too because I was rooting for Meowth to succeed. After that we saw multiple occasion where he was infatuated with other Pokémon, such as Skitty, Glameow, Purrloin, and others I might be forgetting. KrazyShipping is the cat and mouse relationship he has with Ash’s Pikachu, although I really wouldn’t say there’s that much love in this relationship (gets shocked like every time they meet lol). In the end, his one true love is helping and aiding Team Rocket with Jessie and James (he loves them each of them you know it)...or fetishes with Giovanni fantasies.

Inter-region interactions: There are some fantasy shippings people would like to see happen because of region barriers (I NEED MAX AND BONNIE TO MEET), however some came true in the form of cameos like Misty and May, May and Dawn, Brock and Cilan (FAV!! Gotta love the experienced chefs), Brock and Kiawe, or even Piplup and Oshawott (best Pokémon meeting/rivaly ever). But I would have to say that Misty and Lana’s recent interaction is worthy of praise. The two trainer specialists showcased their love and passion for water type Pokémon when they swam together finding the Gyarados that startled their group. There’s a bit of a watery rivalry in this cool and clean wet relationship (okay I’ll stop the water puns). I would definitely pay to watch a spin-off just between these two sailing the oceans of the Pokémon world together, and diving into the deepest part of the sea just to see more Pokémon.

Movie shippings: There are a couple of movie shippings to take into account over the past 20 years, especially with the movie exclusive characters. I would have to say one of my favorite ones (besides AccordShipping that I explained in a prior post) is in Pokémon Heroes with Ash and Latias (AltoShipping...though MareShipping is the Bianca alternative term of the ship). This human Pokémon relationship is just so unique since Latias could transform to the human form of the movie’s Bianca (kind of creepy if you take advantage of that). Another one worth mentioning is CarnivalShipping in the Jirachi movie. I don’t remember much, but I know that Butler and Diane were an awesome magician & assistant dynamic...too bad Butler had evil intensions with Jirachi that made me (and Diane) lose respect for him a bit (he later redeemed himself but cmon man).

Game ships: Like with the movies there’s a lot of game shippings to take into account, but my favorites would have to be from Gen. V! I do like the pairing of Dawn and Lucas from Gen. IV and the player with Lille/Hau OR Lillie and Hau themselves from Gen. VII. A lot of obvious hints too! But the Gen. V games had AgencyShipping, FerrisWheelShipping, SequelShipping (FAV!!!) and VisorShipping. I don’t know why but the character designs stuck out to me and really enjoyed its characters emotionally. But I would definitely have to say TransceiverShipping is my favorite game ship simply because it is the first time where you can actually have a DATE OPTION IN A POKÉMON GAME. Whether if it was the male player and Yancy, or the female player and Curtis, the mysterious conversations you have with the Xtransceiver build up to the eventual date you’ll have with them. Some very, very cute stuff if you haven’t experienced it yourself. Go play Pokémon Black or White Version 2 NOW!!!

Shippings from Pokémon Adventures manga/PokéSpe: We gotta show some love to the manga side of things too! One of my favorite PokéSpe shipping include LuckyShipping (the flirting in here IS REAL), FranticShipping, ChessShipping (manga counterpart of AgencyShipping), and the pairing of X and Y (don’t know the name for that one). But SpecialShipping to me takes the cake on my favorite manga ship simply because of Yellow’s shy feelings for Red. It’s kind of like AmourShipping in a way, since Red is a bit dense in his own right to notice Yellow’s feelings AND Red and Yellow had their own childhood history before the Adventures storyline. It’s just very very adorable, and full of blushes! If you aren’t into PokéSpe, but love shipping cute characters together, you should definitely give it a read!

KetchupShipping (Pikachu & Ketchup/Kechappu): BEST. SHIP. EVER. Favorite moment - The moment where Pikachu first laid eyes on that delicious bottle of ketchup at the Dark City episode, and licked it with cute pleasure :p

.....okay in seriousness what I really want to be talking about is PikaShipping

Of course the final Pokémon shipping I have to showcase here is between Ash/Satoshi and Pikachu of all people and Pokémon! I can’t really say favorite moment because almost every time these two interact, it is always a great moment in my book! RocketShipping maybe the longest, but this beats it by an inch because there isn’t a single episode where we don’t see Ash with Pikachu by his side. They made this show work ever since it started, and everyone around the world knows this dynamic duo since 1997! Ash leaves every Pokémon behind after Johto, BUT NEVER HIM. Everyone in the anime has had their one special Pokémon partner (Dawn and Piplup, Iris and Axew, Bonnie and Dedenne, Sophocles and Togedemaru, etc...), but it is not quite like the courageous and close bond that Ash and Pikachu share. Nothing will ever beat their Pokémon partnership...NOTHING!!!

A Review of Tom Holland’s Complete Filmography

According to imdb

I had a lot of free time, so I decided to watch every movie Tom has acted in, according to his imdb page. I review each film, some with separate spoiler-free reviews.

Arrietty (UK dub)

Not much to say about this one, so both reviews will go together. Tom plays Sho, the sick boy who finds Arrietty and her family. Quite similar to the Disney version, though a little less childish and fun. An enjoyable viewing; I find both English dubs interchangeable.

The Impossible (2012)

Wow. For my spoiler-free review, I just gotta say: watch this movie!! The whole cast is phenomenal, and Tom really does carry the story. He’s a 12-year-old boy on Holiday with his family when a tsunami hits, and we watch his struggle to get his mother medical attention and reunite with his father and little brothers. For such a young character, it is truly remarkable to watch him steal every scene. Definitely recommend!

Spoilers: I cannot stress enough how amazing this cast was. Of course, the movie had its flaws, with three of the main cast being portrayed by children, but it was still remarkable. The way Tom shows Lucas’s character development was remarkably done, and every time Lucas breaks or begins to scream, you’re reminded how young these children are. Ewan McGregor, as always, played his role to the best of his ability, and as he showed a mourning dad desperate for information on his family, you could feel your heart break with him. Naomi Watts, of course, was phenomenal. Just an all around remarkable film, and one that really showcased some of Tom’s strong suits. Quite graphic throughout, but if you have the stomach, I highly recommend taking the time to watch young Tom act his heart out in crisis.

Moments (short film, 2013)

mmkay so this is just a short youtube film, but it’s pretty great. It has Tom doing a voiceover with a montage of a boy and girl in a relationship. Heartbreaking, sharply done, and quick, it’s worth the four minutes of your time.

Locke (2013)

This one’s about a dad on a car ride and how his life kind of falls apart over the course of a few phone calls. Though Tom has a very small part in this film (it’s just his voice for like five minutes, max) he does it well. You understand the relationship between he and his father, and he sounds just a like a teenage kid waiting to watch a match on tv would. The whole film isn’t really necessary if you’re just watching for Tom, but it’s actually really remarkable. Would recommend, just be aware this isn’t a “Tom” movie.

How I Live Now (2013)

ALRIGHT, BUCKOS, STRAP IN! I have my fair share of complaints with this movie, but Tom’s character (Isaac) is NOT ONE OF THEM! Basic plot: an edgy™ American girl comes to stay with her cousins in England, and WWIII breaks out and they get separated and she’s trying to find them. It’s enjoyable, Saoirse Ronan does a great job playing her character, and I’m glad I actually watched it.

Spoilers: She falls in love with her eldest cousin, and that’s a main instigator of the plot. GROSS. But it’s her middle cousin, Isaac, that really made this movie tolerable. Tom plays a 14-year-old kid that really just wanted his cousin to enjoy her stay without letting her walk all over him. He and Daisy exchange banter, and he never lets her negativity get to him. For the first half an hour, he spends all his screen time trying to make light of situations and caring for his family. Then, they kill him off after seeing nothing of him for 40+ minutes. NOT. COOL. Daisy tenderly buries his glasses after finding his dead body, but they don’t really mention him again until the little sister is like “lmao where’s isaac???” He deserved far better. I will probably watch this movie again, but it really goes downhill when you take his positivity and warmth from it.

Tweet (short film, 2015)

Another short youtube film. This one stars Tom’s youngest brother, and is very witty and cute. You get about thirty seconds (max) of Tom onscreen, but he actually directed this! V v adorable, I recommend those two minutes of cuteness.

In the Heart of the Sea (2015)

Ahhh, the origination of the iconic Quackson meme. Won’t lie, I was a bit disappointed by this one. The movie is based off a book that is telling the “true story” that inspired Herman Meville to write Moby Dick. Tom plays the young version of the sole survivor of the ship Essex that was attacked by a white wale and marooned for months. A rowdy period piece full of action and high tensions, it’s a good popcorn movie.

Spoilers: The pacing was really weird. They spend the first hour of the movie sailing around on a nice boat, hunting whales, and bullying the new kid (Tom). The captain is jealous of the first mate so he makes dumb choices. Tom’s character (Thomas Nickerson) thinks the first mate is the coolest guy ever. And suddenly!! WHALES. FIRE. TENSIONS. There’s literally like fifteen minutes of whale smashing, half an hour of floating around and starving and cannibalism, and the last fifteen minutes are split between angsty old Nickerson and everyone making it home fine. The idea was interesting, and the cast did wonderfully, it just felt like the production was a bit rushed. Would still recommend!

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

I’m not really gonna review this, we probably have all seen this. I just wanted to put it here so it’s all his films. Tom’s great. The ideal Peter. A quality beeb. I’m so sorry that I said beeb. WOW I LOVE THIS SPIDEY!

Edge of Winter (2016)

Okay!! I was really excited to see this one, and it was perfectly mediocre. A quick summary: Bradley (Tom) and his little brother are left with their dad for a week or whatever. Their dad finds out that their new step-dad is planning on moving the family and freaks out. Horror movie cliches ensue. An interesting concept with a pretty decent cast, but lacking in certain areas. A mellow horror, much more of a thriller.

Spoilers: Tbh Luc and Richard felt a bit flung in, and there was a lot of unrealistic things. Like... Brad drives a car for like a mile one time and then at the end he’s fine driving miles and miles to get away. Also what happened to their dad?? It’s never discussed at the end. And ik this is about Tom (don’t get me wrong, he was great) but can we discuss the little brother??? Honestly the two brothers pretty much carried the film and they did amazingly! If it had the proper score, I feel it would have boosted the film’s quality tenfold. Altogether, an enjoyable movie to watch when you want something freaky, but not too bad.

The Lost City of Z (2016)

Quite possibly my least favorite movie on this list, but that might just be me. Percy Fawcett is an explorer that becomes obsessed with his search for the lost city he calls “z” in the amazon forest. Despite ridicule from his superiors, he dedicates his life to it. His family feels he has abandoned them, but still support him. It’s literally 2 hours and 20 minutes of this dude looking for native inhabitants of “amazonia.” There are long, sophisticated scenes of dialogue. This is a movie you need to pay close attention to in order to capture completely.

Spoilers: It’s probably bc I was watching the movie for Tom, but I was disappointed. We get maybe 20 minutes of Tom, the majority of that just squeezed into the end. Tom’s character development felt rushed and flimsy. Robert Pattinson’s character was great, and honestly, why did we not get more development from him??? It was a lot of dialogue with not a lot of movement. Probably like a 5 or 6 out of 10. Just a bit of a mess.. The best part was probably what an early feminist his wife was.

Pilgrimage (2017)

okay so this movie isn’t technically out yet but it’s online illegally (ssssh.....) and I really wanted to see it. I was prepared to dislike it bc people kept talking about how dark it was, but it was actually very enjoyable. Definitely gory and v intense, but all the same, a good story. Possibly the best showcase of Tom’s talent yet (other than hoco obs). Be warned: it can be very hard to watch at times, but stays true to its story.

Spoilers: ok so tbh sometimes it felt like the movie couldn’t decide who it wanted its main character to be. We see Mr. French Richard Armitage Princey a lot, and the herbalist, and the French Priest dude, and definitely a lot of The Novice (Tom), but it wasn’t until the end when it becomes clear that we were watching through the eyes of the Novice. Where Edge of Winter’s big climax failed to feel high-stakes when it was, Pilgrimage does the opposite. During the final scene, I went “oh, yeah, this is the climax!” and it felt v high stakes. Definitely dark and gory and intense, but an intriguing and fascinating film to watch if you have the time.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Wowowowow i love tom and he’s so good and i can’t wait to see more spidey YEET!!!

Hazel Eyes & Cake Pops [Ch. 20]

For the first time, week ten was uneventful and not as hectic as it usually was. Maybe because I actually got my assignments done and actually liked them; I owe it all to Kate in more way than one. She became sort of a motivation for me, both for Sunday and for taking the time out to hang out with me whenever. Not just physically too; I don’t think I’ve ever text someone so often. Every single day, a good morning text and a goodnight one, whatever the conversation turned out to be. There were a couple nights she texts me, not with the single-worded greeting, but with a YouTube link to a cat video.

I didn’t question it; it was such a Kate thing to do.

When the week was over, I rested on Saturday, lying on the couch I learned to be comfortable on, and texting her back and forth.

Are you ready for tomorrow? I could feel how happy she was through the screen.

If I was honest, I wasn’t. I was ready to explode from feeling the way that I did. My racing heart and my fidgeting hands felt… different, somehow. It wasn’t unwelcomed.

As ready as I’ll ever be.

It was established that Chloe was going to drop me off at her apartment. Kate said that everything was within walking distance of each other.

It was kind of late and I was home alone, since Rachel and Chloe went out to HUE sf again. Rachel really wanted to watch her work behind the bar. Because it was tomorrow, I had to ask:

It was pretty obvious, mostly because of the day. I thought people went to church earlier, but what the hell did I know about going there? It was going to be an interesting experience for someone like me.

That’s in the morning. It’s only an hour long, so you won’t be suffering for so long.

I won’t be suffering! Bored, but I’ll pay attention.

I hoped to meet her friends, especially the ones creating the short film. I learned recently that our school was having a special film festival with the theme called “Growth.” It was pretty clever.

I can promise you that the rest of the day will be good!

All days are good with you in them.

I hesitated to send it. I pressed “send” as quickly as I could before I thought about it too long.

I lied on the couch in a ripped-up shirt and shorts, finally feeling the heat of late-March. I let my legs hang off the armrest, swinging them as I waited for more texts to pop up. I still had the yellow bracelet around my wrist.

You’re a smooth talker now?

Smooth as sandpaper maybe.

A dumb grin stayed plastered on my face as I stared at the text bubbles. I left the messages and was greeted by my phone background, which was still of the forest in Arcadia Bay. I needed to change it, it has been a year away from there, but I haven’t found a good picture to replace it with.

You don’t give yourself enough credit!

Kek are you saying I’m smooth?

I sat up, taking my legs off the armrest to answer a call I was getting from Rachel.

“Hello?”

“Hey Max, how are you? Doing okay being alone?” It was quiet on her side, she had to be outside or in the restroom.

“It’s not that lonely. I’ve been talking to Kate.”

“Of course,�� she chuckled, “Must be nice to be all bi yourself.”

It took a minute for me to understand that, “… Oh, my dog, what did Chloe do to you?”

“Hey, I’m bi too, the joke was too easy.”

I could only roll my eyes. It was genius.

“We’ll be back sometime in the morning. Before you have to go, for sure!” Rachel reassured.

“It’s at ten, don’t worry.”

“I know, I know,” she finished with a sigh, “Anyway, gotta go. Can’t stay in a bathroom forever.”

“Have fun partying.”

“Will do. See you later.”

She hung up first. Another message greeted me as I put my phone down.

Like silk, Max.

I had that stupid grin on my face again. At the moment, nothing else seemed to matter.

But I’m feeling pretty sleepy. She texts again.

You should sleep too. We have a busy day tomorrow after all.

I sent a goodnight back and tossed my phone aside. This was the time to give myself a pep talk. I’ve been having a really good past few weeks and I cannot afford to mess anything up. Mess-up was my middle name and the thought of ruining anything or making her feel weird about how much I truly liked her made my head hurt. Pressing my hands against my head, I was hunched over, trying to stop those thoughts from shutting me down. I had to have more faith in myself.

The initial feeling was the worst. The pain in my chest hurt and the tips of my fingers felt like pins and needles going into them.

Maybe I shouldn’t go… I should cancel… She’s never going to talk to me again once she knows…

I was slowly but surely learning to act around her like how I act around Rachel and Chloe. I was starting to overthink. I took deep breaths, standing up and hopping around, and shaking my hands around to get the feeling out. I had to stay as positive as possible. I landed on the couch again, still hunching over and a hand on my forehead. I lied down, staring up at the ceiling.

This couldn’t happen. Not right now.

After what felt like hours, I was able to catch some z’s, enough to wake up the next day to Rachel and Chloe talking.

“What should we do for their quarter break? We need to push them just a little closer.” Rachel was trying to stay quiet.

“No kidding,” Chloe said, “But let’s just do our plans and bring them along. Let them do their own thing.”

I couldn’t think of where exactly they would go, let alone take us. I stayed lying down, pretending to still sleep as they continued conversing.

“I don’t know if Max’s heart could take it.”

“She knows how to take care of herself. She has better control.”

“You think so?”

It was semi-true. I appreciated Chloe for saying so.

Rachel spoke again, “Let’s wake her up then. We’ll talk about it.”

I closed my eyes again and waited for them to “wake” me up. I thought about things I could say or do, saying a pun or a joke. Something along the lines of “waking up is really an eye-opening experience.” I declined against it, though.

“Maxmanian devil,” Chloe grabbed my arm and shook me around, “We have shit to say.”

I fluttered my eyes open and looked up at them, towering over me. I sat up and they sat down with me, sandwiching me in the middle.

“We made some plans during your week off,” Rachel started, placing her hand on my knee, “And we just want to make sure that it’ll be good for both you and Kate. You know, so you two can come along.”

“And what plans are those?”

“I’m glad you asked! It’s technically your spring break, so there are plenty of parties going off and since I want to go see Long Beach again, there are huge parties happening there. I’ve already rented a beach house.”

Again, she said it so casually, I nearly fell out of my seat.

“I don’t know…”

“We just want to make sure that you’ll be okay with going to places like that. I wouldn’t want you to be uncomfortable around so many people.”

I had to think about it. It was going to be hard, but if I keep a positive mind and balance out my time being surrounded by people and being alone, nothing bad should happen.

“You guys don’t have to worry about me.” I said.

They looked at each other, then back at me.

“Just ask if she wants to come along, okay?” Rachel patted my knee.

I nodded.

“You should get ready,” Chloe reminded me, “You have an hour left.”

I slapped Chloe’s arm, “You could have woken me up sooner!”

I stood up and quickly headed to the bathroom, hearing “At least I didn’t wake you up ten minutes beforehand.”

When I closed the door behind me, there was already an outfit ready for me on top of our hamper. Pretty sure it was Rachel. I hurriedly showered and got into my outfit. It was simple, plain pink shirt and, surprisingly, my blue jeans. I felt like my old self again.

Chloe drove me, leaving Rachel at home, and it was back to loud rock music blasting from the radio. She was bobbing her head and tapping her hand on the wheel. I guess it was now to tell her about the tattoo. I turned the volume knob down.

“Yo, what the fuck.”

“Hey, I just want to mention the tattoo thing again.” I held my hands up defensively.

She smiled at me with interest.

“I need your opinion, that is all.”

“Can’t wait to hear this shit.”

“I was thinking maybe on my shoulder blade? What do you think?”

“Hell. Yes. I’m all for it. What do you want?” She was beaming from ear-to-ear.

“That I needed an opinion on. I should totally just get a camera, huh?”

“How big can you handle? That’s what he said!” She rushed to say the second part.

I chuckled and shook my head, “Well, if you were able to handle your first design, I feel like I could do anything.”

Chloe smirked, “I’m hella excited for this!”

She punched my arm as she laughed and I couldn’t help but laugh along with her. For the whole ride, she turned the music back up and the atmosphere was so lively. In front of Kate’s apartment, we saw a few people from upstairs leave their houses with backpacks and large plastic bottles, probably going to study for finals.

“Have fun on your date,” Chloe patted me on my shoulder, “Don’t fuck up.”

I huffed through my nose and let, saying thanks on the way out. I went up to the apartment door and gave it three knocks. I looked behind me and saw that she had already left.

The door opened and Kate was on the other side, instantly smiling at me, “Hey Max, come in.”

“Thanks,” I smiled back at her, “You look nice today.”

“Thank you, so do you.”

Unlike before, she was more covered and had her hair up in a nicer bun. We sat down on her couch; thank dog Victoria was already gone.

“Isn’t it a little hot?”

“I always dressed this way. Plus, it’s more favorite cardigan. Feel it, it’s not that thick.” She reached her arm out and her sleeves still covered her hands. I felt the blue sweater and, sure enough, it was so thin I could feel her body heat.

“Did you eat at all?” She asked me.

Damn it, I forgot to grab something on the way out. I could already see her being disappointed. I was ready to lie and said I had a full meal. I cleared my throat.

“I wasn’t able to eat anything.” I mumbled.

“Pardon me?”

“I didn’t eat anything. I woke up late.”

I expected to get a hit on the wrist or a shove, but Kate asked, “Would you like something? We have those mini boxes of cereal.”

“I would love one. No fancy breakfast plates?”

“I bought them for myself,” She walked to the kitchen and went into the cupboard, “This whole week, she has been going out and eating with her friends.”

The cupboard was full of the small cereal boxes, bags of chips, and other green boxes I assumed was green tea. She grabbed a blue one and handed it to me as she sat down.

“She doesn’t even take you?”

“Oh no, I choose not to go with her. Her friends don’t like me so much…”

I ripped the box open and ate one after the other. I haven’t eaten Frosted Flakes in forever, but the sugary taste reminded me of why I stopped.

“How come?”

“I just overheard them once talking about me. Victoria defended me and that’s nice, but I don’t like seeing them. Not after that.”

“That’s fu—messed up.”

Kate chuckled, “Nice save.”

After I finished the box, we left her apartment. She did the usual and hooked onto my arm as we walked together. The sidewalk was practically empty and I was able to keep a steady pace for her.

“Oh, Rachel and Chloe are planning a road trip to Long Beach. They wanted to know if you’d like to come along with us.”

“What are you guys going to do?”

“Rachel said partying and whatever, but she rented a beach house just for us if you come along.”

“You’ll be a third wheel again, huh?”

“… Yeah, pretty much.”

Kate giggled, “I won’t be partying much, though.”

“Same for me. I’ll probably be in the room more than being with them at all.”

“…Why not, I’ll come along with you.”

I was shocked. I thought she would decline right away after mentioning anything about a party. But, I did remember that she said something about how she never actually goes anywhere during the breaks.

“For real? I didn’t think you would accept it.”

“Well, there are beautiful places there I could draw and I wouldn’t want you to be alone.”

I did a little side smile; at least I wouldn’t be alone.

We arrived to a brick chapel about another thirty minutes with lots of turns. I would have never known about it, because despite being such a large structure, it was stuck behind taller buildings. It was how I imagined churches: lots of stairs, pillars, and on the roof, the cross was perched right on the front. It was a really wide structure with plenty of doors to choose from to walk through.

I was winded from going up the flight of stairs; I hope Kate didn’t notice. She guided me in and everything inside felt so… suffocating. The pews were brown and, from the sound of people sitting down, squeaky, pure white walls with rectangular windows, red carpet, and the altar with a single brown table and a giant cross behind it. I was feeling a little nervous being in this place.

She guided me to a middle row and sat the right side. It was probably obvious that I was feeling very self-conscious. As my eyes darted around and my hands were fidgeting together, I felt Kate’s hand sneak her way in and held mine tightly.

I gulped dryly and exhaled deeply, looking at her with a forced smile. She was observing me with a worried look and I felt her thumb rubbing back and forth. I was relaxing slowly, but as soon as a nuclear family came to sit in our row, she had to let go. Her body language changed, holding her hands in her lap, crossing her ankles, and her face became expressionless.

The mass was a lot of reading, singing, sitting down, standing up, and a long speech about how the readings could apply to real life. It was so long and drawn-out, talking about how we should do what makes us happy and love everyone in our lives, I felt bad that I was falling asleep. At one point, my head landed on Kate’s shoulder, but I sat up right away. Eventually, we reached near the end of the service.

“Let’s go.” Kate whispered.

“Already? But, what about that line, thing?”

Everyone was starting to stand up and get in line towards the altar. I think it was the part for bread and wine.

“It’s fine, unless you want to wait outside.”

Nope, I needed to leave before I fall asleep. I waved my hand for her to come with me and left. I felt people staring at us as we were walking out, but I ignored them to the best of my ability. Outside, I let out the breath I was holding, hunched over with my hands on my knees.

“Are you okay?” She placed her hand on my back.

I stood up straight again, “I’m good.”

“I’m guessing you didn’t like it all that much. I told you that you wouldn’t like it!”

“I still wanted to try!”

Kate smiled and then grabbed me, pulling me into an embrace, “You did fine.”

I was frozen in place for a second. She had her arms around my neck and my hands hovered at her waist before I finally hugged her around her back.

When she let go, she said, “That was for earlier. You looked scared to death.”

“Was it that obvious?”

“Only a little bit,” she shrugged her shoulders, “We should go before everyone else start coming out.”

“Good idea.”

We left down the stairs and went deeper into the city. I was following her as we passed more businesses like flower shops, a music store, and a small pet shop with fluffy puppies at the window. Kate was acting like her holding hands with me in church never happened or how she acted after she had to let go.

Was holding hands with me weird? No, it couldn’t be because we’ve done it before. Hell, we’re doing it right now! Was it weird because it was in a church?

“Where are we going now?” I asked.

“You said you wanted to see the filming of the short film, so we’re going to the library we chose. I don’t know how many of my friends will be there, though. It is cram time after all.”

My pulse spiked up and there was a sudden pain in my stomach. What should I say when I meet them?

Hi, I’m Max. Hey, my name is Max. Hi, I’m gay for your friend.

“They all want to meet you,” she looked at me with a grin, “They’re all dorky and funny, so don’t be too worried.”

“Me? Worried? Never heard of it.” I awkwardly chuckled.

She shook her head, “You’ll be okay! They already like you and they haven’t met you yet!”

I could only chuckle. The library was only ten minutes away, thankfully no stairs. I wouldn’t have known it was library, because there was no sign outside. It reminded of school in a way, as it was also five floors from what I could tell. The building’s design was like those black-and-white aesthetic backgrounds on Tumblr. Like, huge tiles.

It was really spacious on the inside, though more white walls and large windows. Standing at the doors, I had to take it all in first. The room we were in was just a large open room, with nothing in it. In front of us, there was a large hallway leading towards an elevator. From where I was standing, my head couldn’t stop going from side-to-side to look at the large windows of each floor. What connected the two sides were bridges with glass barriers to protect people from falling.

“Holy shit…” I awed.

“Beautiful, right?” She asked me. She didn’t seem to mind me cursing.

“I hate that I didn’t know it existed.” Another thing I forgot: my camera.

“I didn’t either! My friend, Ledah, goes here to study and I was so mad that they waited until a couple weeks ago to finally tell us about this place. It doesn’t even look like a library on the outside.”

“I know!”

She giggled, “Anyway, we have to go see them! Come on!”

She held my hand again and we went to the elevator. We stayed quiet as the elevator went to the fifth floor. Pulling me behind her, she guided me through the many bookcases until we ended up in a science fiction section where a group of four people were standing in.

“Kate!” One of them yelled loudly in the middle of a library.

“Hey you guys,” she greeted back, quietly, “It’s just you two?”

“Cram session,” the same person replied, “So, it’ll be your faithful director who gives no fucks about grades and your dead inside camera director.”

Kate hummed and then pushed me closer to them, “Max, Ledah and Erin. Ledah and Erin, Max.”

“So, you’re the one that’s been taking Kate away from us,” Ledah was the one with gray-dyed hair and matching-colored shirt, who grabbed Kate into a hug, “She’s ours.”

“You’re so dramatic.” She hugged back.

“I’m your mother now.”

“Stop it.” She pushed them off.

I laughed, I felt awkward where I was, “This is a great location for your film.”

Maybe she was touchy with everyone she knew…

“You should’ve seen the other places,” Erin was the one wearing all green and was wearing sunglasses indoors, “It’s better here. Wendy’s.”

“Huh?” I raised an eyebrow.

“You never heard of that slogan? Yeesh.”

I was ready to roast the fuck out of those stupid “deal with it” sunglasses. That was a dead meme. But, the tingle in my hands and feet stopped that from happening.

“You guys are too mean to her.” Kate slapped both of them on their arms.

“Don’t slap your mother like that.” Erin gasped, placing their hand over their mouth.

“Oh, and these two are our actresses.” Kate went up to the two girls talking to each other. I weakly waved my hand at them and they were smiled and waved back. One of them strangely looked like Kate, due to blonde hair and a nearly the same outfit as Kate wore on Saturday, just no suspenders. And the other one looked like me; even she had freckles, a similar hairstyle, and we were the exact same height.

“For reals though, it’s nice to finally meet you,” Ledah reached her hand over, “She never shuts up about you.”

I thought it was a handshake, but it was a hand slap and fist bump. I was about a second behind.

“Only because you guys never shut up about her.” Kate asserted.

“Can you please stop talking to your mother like that?” Erin reiterated.

I sat at a different table as Erin worked the camera, Ledah was nodding their head, and Kate was simply observing. I vaguely remembered her saying that it was a silent film. The scene was currently the two other girls sitting at a desk and reading off the same book. I could feel how gay it was from where I was sitting.

Kate looked back at me from time to time, smiling and giving me a thumbs-up. I sent her a thumbs-up back to reassure her. It was nice to actually see times they burst out laughing from how awkward it became. They keep forgetting what actions to do or if it was lasting too long and then had to start over.

She finally walked over to me and sat down next to me.

“Enjoying yourself?” She asked.

“Yeah, but one question.”

“Sure, what is it?”

“Am I the only one who thinks those two kinda look like us?”

Kate looked at the two actresses, even leaning over and squinting her eyes a little. She looked back at me with a confused look on her face, “I think it’s just you.”

“Really?”

“They don’t look like us at all, Max.”

“Could you ask your friends?”

Kate rolled her eyes, but called their names through whisper-yelling.

“What’s up?” Ledah sat down across from me.

“Max thinks they look like us.” Kate pointed back and forth at us and them.

Ledah and Erin looked behind them and then back at me. Erin lifted their sunglasses up, “Are your eyes okay?”

“Never mind,” I shook my head, “I guess I’m crazy.”

I balled my hands up into fists and accepted that I was just crazy.

The filming went on until the two girls were about to kiss and then the girl-that-looked-like-me pretended to get a text and had to leave. Kate stayed by my side, still watching the filming, and still letting me know that they looked nothing like us.

“That’s Act Two, boy.” Erin unironically dabbed.

“You guys are free to go and bring my daughter home by nine-thirty.”

I forcefully chuckled. Kate waved and said goodbye and followed. That whole situation was stressful somehow.

“Any other places we’re going?”

“Just one more actually,” Kate grabbed my hand again, “We passed it on the way here.”

I gasped, “The pet store.”

“Nope, but it’s pretty close. We could visit it.”

We walked out again, leaving towards the same direction we came from. On the way there, Kate was periodically checking her phone. I saw that she was looking at text messages, but she didn’t reply to them.

We arrived to the music shop, though the puppies caught my eye again. We walked in and we were greeted by guitars and pianos at the front. Violins, cellos, and other various woodwind instruments lined the walls while drums and amps took up the middle of the store. A heavily-tattooed man behind the glass table filled with picks and strings greeted us on the way in. I think there was a class going on in the back for piano players.

“You’re going to make me play, aren’t you?” I guessed.

“I’ll play for you too if you play for me.” She smirked at me. She went up to the man, asking if we could use any of the guitars. He grabbed one near him, a classic brown which totally reminded me of the one I used to have, and checked if it was in tune. When he handed it over, Kate turned and handed it to me. I haven’t played since I left Arcadia Bay; I was going to be absolute shit at this.

I sat down at a nearby stool and Kate pulled one up close to me. She waited patiently.

I hesitated and I was starting to freeze up. I cracked my knuckles to buy me some time. I started to strum out to a song I remembered and knew I couldn’t mess up. It was a song I played once in a while back in Blackwell to pass time.

I could see Kate nodding her head and smiling as she listened to me. I wasn’t sure how many minutes passed, but as soon as I messed up a note, I stopped immediately. She laughed and clapped for me.

“Bravo, bravo,” she said, “That’s Crosses, isn’t it? By Jose Gonzalez?”

“I didn’t you listened to him.”

“I love to mix it up sometimes.” She stood up and went to the counter again, this time asking for a violin.

She sat down again and started to practice some notes and scales. She was doing the scales so smoothly, I felt like an amateur on my instrument.

“Are we doing a jam session?”

“Do you mind giving it a shot?”

“Depends, will we be playing Crosses again?”

She shook her head, “Nope, I was thinking his other song. Do you know Heartbeats?”

I did know it, but roughly. I couldn’t be sure it was going to be perfect.

“Kinda, but I can’t guarantee it’ll be good.”

“That’s fine. This isn’t supposed to be serious. Like you called it, it’s a jam session.”

I nodded and took a deep breath. Strumming the beginning of the song, I tried my best to stay in the right tempo. I messed up about three times and said sorry after every one. The fourth time I was able to stay steady and Kate was able to start playing along. We actually sounded pretty good together and we stayed on-key for most song. We were about a minute in before I mess up again. We stopped abruptly.

“Shit.”

“It’s okay, Max. You’re really good at playing.” She stood up and I followed, handing the instruments back to the man.

“I haven’t played in like a year. I’m surprised at myself.”

“You could have fooled me. Would you like to play the other instruments or look at the dogs next door?”

I grinned widely, “… Dogs.”

Kate smiled back and nodded, “Okay, let’s go.”

For the next hour, I literally stayed with the really small and fluffy puppies at the window, petting all of them and carrying some of them around the store. Sure, there were fishes and birds, and they’re cool too—I had a full conversation with a bird—but the dogs, though.

“You’ve been carrying that one for quite some time.” Kate petted the dog in my arms. She was brown and smaller than the other ones and, looking closer, she was missing an eye.

“She’s my favorite. Her name is Kate now.”

“Why is she named after me?”

Without thinking, “Because she’s cute.”

Kate snorted and shook her head, turning around, but I saw her blush.

“You have to put her down sometime. You can’t just take her.”

I sighed, “I know. Sorry Kate, time to go back to your brothers and sisters.”

The puppy actually started to whimper and cry as I tried to place her down again. I felt bad as I backed away and saw her trying to climb out of the pen.

“I’m sorry, Kate!” I waved goodbye and we left.

“Was that the last thing of the day?”

“Yup, I don’t do a lot of exciting things. I’m sorry if it seems short.”

“No, I loved today. Thanks for taking me out.”

“My pleasure.”

I spent a good fifteen minutes refusing to call Chloe to pick me up. Kate tried her best to get me to, so I too could start cramming for next week. I eventually did, but started with a text about how Kate said she wanted to come along with us to Long Beach. Then, I said she had to pick me up at her apartment.

In front of Kate’s apartment, we sat in the front because it was just about three PM. Kate had more classes than me and needed to study more, so I wasn’t so mad about the time. When Chloe came into the parking space in front of her home, I really didn’t want to go.

“Can I get one last hug?” I held my arms out.

“Of course,” Kate wrapped her arms around my neck and I hugged her back, “See you on Tuesday, okay?”

Labyrinthine December Pt 1: I Compare Stats

(Somehow, I feel like a Cho-Marisa portrait might be appropriate here because look at that beefy MAG stat)

So I went compared all the stats one by one (HP, ATK, DEF, MAG, MND and SPD). What I did for this is use the stats of each character's current, theoretical maxed out level. Part of this so I know where I should be allocating bonus points to get characters up to speed. The other half is that comparing current stats would be off because some characters are at the level cap, while others are 40 levels behind. This way was the most “equal” way of comparing stats I could think of.

Now, without further ado...

Characters by Health Points

Komachi is the highest at 50k HP. This is no surprise at all; Komachi's whole gimmick is that she has stupid huge HP but zero defense.

Following Komachi are:

Meiling (29k), Remilia (26k), Youmu and Yuugi (25k), Sakuya (24k), Suika (23k), Flandre (22k), Wriggle and Reimu (21k), Mokou, Eirin, Ran and Rinnosuke (20k) and Yukari (19k)

These stats are really surprising.

Meiling and Remilia have always been my back up tanks, so it's a bit shocking to see them growing more health than the other characters.

Yukari, Ran and Eirin all being on the lower end of tank health is surprising too.

It seems that if I'm underusing any characters here, it's Wriggle and Youmu.

For comparison, here are the characters with the lowest amount of health:

Patchouli (7k), Kaguya (8k), Suwako (11k), Marisa and Rumia (12k), Orin (13k) and Chen and Minoriko (15k)

Almost all these results are expected... except for Rumia. Geez Rumia. I've been thinking about how to use her as a backup healer for Reimu, and this makes her seem really unflattering (because her other stats are also abysmal).

Characters by SP (I can't remember what the S is for)

The leaders in this category are:

Patchouli and Marisa (1.1k), Reimu (1k), Yukari, Kaguya, Sanae and Ran (900), Eirin and Alice (800)

...but this isn't a category I'm particularly interested in; every character runs out of SP at some point, I usually just swap em out at that point. The only thing worth pointing out is that Reimu, Kaguya and, Sanae and Alice have surprisingly good SP growth. All the other characters I have intentionally cultivated to have higher SP (because they require more frequent usage of their skills. Marisa especially relies on extra SP to make Master Spark more damaging)

Characters by Attack

Since there are a truck load of characters that have zero reliance on the ATK stat, let's just pay attention to characters with the highest ATK stats. That is:

Flandre (26k), Yuugi (22k), Suika (19k), Remilia (18k), Aya, Komachi and Suwako (17k) and Chen, Youmu, Nitori and Rinnosuke (16k),

Seeing these attack stats really confuses me.

Flandre being top isn't a surprise (she's the ultimate fire power character)

Yuugi having second highest is weird as I’ve been intentionally cultivating her HP and DEF with bonus points. Seems like I can continue that trend.

Aya, Komachi and Suwako is a really weird result. Those first two don't come off as having remarkable attack power, while Suwako is one of my nukes and she outdamages these other characters by a ton. I have to assume her attacks rely on hybrid (ATK + MAG) formulas.

Chen, Nitori and Youmu explains why Youmu seems so weak. Chen's damage isn't impressive *at all*, it's the fact that she can attack like four to five turns in a row before the enemy can that makes her damage output good. Cirno and Sakuya being at 12k and 13k ATK respectively only corroborate this theory of 16k being rather low (because Cirno and Sakuya are *very* underwhelming considering their attack power).

Nitori, on the other hand, has a really good formula on her Cannon so she can definitely get away with having 16k ATK. Youmu, on the other hand, is supposed to be a nuke, yet she's not even on par with the other nukes in this category (Flandre at 26k, Yuugi at 22k, Suika at 19k, Suwako at 17k). It seems that if I'm going to build to her being a nuke, I need to up that damage big time.

Not shown here is Orin's pititful attack at 13k. I also might need to up her ATK (depending on her skill formulas)

Characters by Defense

Leading the defense pack is Tenshi "The Wall" Hinanawi at 15k. 15k isn't as impressive as you'd think (the highest MND character has 20k MND) but this is less of an issue for Tenshi as her gimmick is having amazing DEF and MND.

After Tenshi is Yuugi, also at 15k. Then you got Meiling (14k), Youmu and Remilia (12k), Rinnosuke and Sakuya (10k), Yukari, Eirin and Wriggle (9k), Ran (8k), Mokou, Alice and Aya (7k) and then Suika, Kaguya and Reisen (6k)

These statistics are shocking, to say the least.

Meiling is surprisingly more capable than I expected. Youmu being on par with Remilia, and higher than Sakuya, Ran and Yukari, is very confusing. She doesn't feel as tanky as any of those characters (though perhaps the issue has been less of DEF and more of resistances?)

The real shockers here are Ran, Suika and Yukari. These three are like my three most common tank characters. When I play, their tankiness feels like they’re closer to Eirin and Sakuya's values (that's 9k and 10k respectively). Thinking on it, these three characters have the common ability to self-buff themselves. Knowing that about 6k - 9k is the baseline defense you need really makes me reconsider my approach.

Also, Wriggle, Alice and Mokou are tankier than I'd given them credit for.

On the lower end of the spectrum, Minoriko, Sanae and Rumia have stupidly low DEF and this only vindicates my feeling of those three being fragile.

Characters by Magic

Okay, so this section feels like it's massively under-performing in relation to the attack category.

Starting off the Magic category is Marisa at 25k. This... is not good. First off, it's not even higher than the ATK cap at 26k. What's worse is that Marisa's magic stat is massively inflated with skillpoints. No seriously, Marisa has been doping with about a MAG Level of 92. For comparison, most characters haven’t hit past X stat Level 30/40. It’s absurd, and it’s not a natural amount. (Thinking on it, Komachi’s 50k health might be in a similar position, though I know for a fact that she’s not up to HP Level 92. Only Marisa has an absurd level).

Removing Marisa from the equation, our natural lead is Patchouli at 20k. Yeah, that's a big gap. Patchouli is kind of redeemed by also having 20k MND, making her a balance of 20k-ish MAG AND MND (the closest comparison on the phsyical side is 22k ATK / 15k DEF with Yuugi).

With that said, all the other characters seem to be massively under-performing here.

After Patchy at 20k, you have Alice, Flandre and Kaguya at 16k. That’s 4k lower than Patchy, which is shocking. Even worse is that one of these three is *just* a hybrid attacker (Flandre, who also holds the highest ATK). Kaguya being up there isn’t surprising, as Hourai Barrage is just MAG murder. Alice being there is surprising.

Then there’s Suwako, Sanae and Ran at 15k. After looking it up, Suwako is actually NOT a hybrid, she just has high ATK and MAG stats (with individual ATK and MAG spells). This is weird, to say the least (because again, that doesn’t explain Youmu’s poor output). This number doesn’t seem impressive, given that Sanae and Ran are pure support (and Ran’s attacks have never struck me as impressive). It does make me reconsider having Sanae as some sort of attacker though...

After that are Mokou and Yukari (14k), Eirin and Yuyuko (13k), Reimu, Rumia, Iku and Reisen (12k), Cirno and Rinnosuke (11k) and then Minoriko and Orin (10k).

Again, it seems everyone's under-achieving in this category. The only stats I can understand are Cirno's (she's a very mediocre attacker, so 11k makes sense), Eirin (her healing isn't MAG reliant, so I've been buffing her tankiness) and Sanae and Reimu (they rely on MAG for their healing formulas). Oh and Patchouli (she tracks) and Marisa (she doping)

Everyone else is underperforming. Mokou, Yuyuko, Reisen and Orin are all behind with their phys ATK cuonterparts. I should probably focus on MAG for them now. (Minoriko also needs a boost, she is not on par with her fellow healers *at all*)

Characters by MND

Conversely, it seems that MND is more balanced among my party.

Patchouli leads with a whopping 23k (this is more than I initially remembered as 20/20 for MAG MND). I kinda realized that between Marisa, Suwako, Nitori, Yuugi, Chen and some others that I didn't really need more nukes. What I don't have, however, is a MND tank, so that's the goal for Patchy now and she seems to be doing it damn good.

Following her is the Wall at 15k.

Then it's Yuyuko and Reimu (14k), Yukari and Marisa (13k), Kaguya, Sanae, Alice and Iku (12k), Suika, Orin and Ran (11k), Rinnosuke, Minoriko and Eirin at 10k, and then stragglers at 9k (Nitori), 8k (Remilia, Wriggle, Rumia) and 7k (Mokou, Sakuya, Meiling)

Some notably low MND characters are Yuugi, Reisen and Youmu who are about 5k and under. Reisen and Youmu being at 5k explains a LOT about their survivability, to be honest.

Some of the interesting results are Yuyuko and Reimu almost being at Tenshi's level, Marisa being on par with Yukari, Kaguya, Alice and Iku at 12k, Nitori at 9k and the 7k and 8k club.

It's a bit shocking that 7k to 11k is where all my tanks are, because that's not very tanky at all!

Characters by Speed This is another category that I'm de-emphasizing. Here's the actual full list of speeds:

I think I can effectively tier characters as Gotta Go Fast (800), Ayayaya (600), Fast (500), Not-So-Fast (400), Officially Slow (Upper 300), Very Slow (Lower 300), Focus Speed (200)

This list is pretty surprising, as some characters don't feel as fast as they're portrayed. I think this is down to the fact that "delay / cooldowns" on skills exist.

Like it really makes you think that Reimu might be at 400 speed, but with her cooldowns, she's closer to all the other healers (at Lo-300).

(Also, Rumia, what's wrong with you? Don't you have ANY good stats?)

The results

I've learned a lot about my party through this analysis. Here are some of my preliminary thoughts.

Suika: it seems like she's a character I've given far too much credit, because her stats don't seem so great on paper. I think having an easy buff (Missing Power) is what gives her so much mileage to me. I’ll have to use her stats as a guide for “which characters could be tanky enough with enough buffs”

Orin: I'm not giving her enough credit. I think comparing her to Aya and Chen has warped my expectations of her, because I can make Cirno work, despite her having less impressive speed overall. I definitely need to figure out how she works.

Yuyuko: she sounds like a character I should be adding if only to serve as an MND tank. I still think her speed is godawful, but maybe I should be adding her to bossfights regardless.

Alice and Mokou: their stats seem really interesting and malleable. I really have to figure out what their roles are going to be, thankfully it seems like I have a lot of freedom to shape their roles.

Komachi: I can't believe her ATK is that high. I think I might have been underutilizing her as an attacker this whole time. Even if she's no Suwako, I think I can treat her as a SPI nuke for battles where Yuyuko might not work.

Rinnosuke: Rinnosuke’s stats were impressive in all categories... why the heck have I not been using him?

Rumia: wait, no, she still looks really unimpressive.

Anyway, I’m gonna start finally adding those bonus points tomorrow. I feel like I might need to make a backup save, in case things turn out bad.
