I think I really lose braincells each time you post about couples counselling au - because I have never felt a characterization of Obi-Wan and Anakin fit *so much* to my own headcanon that it drives me crazy. The lack of communication? The desperate need to please (Anakin) the delusion of thinking you're giving someone complete access (Obi-Wan) while keeping them out. It is SO perfect, it's literally my favourite obikin fic, I am so invested in this au. The questions you have them answer at the end. When Obi-Wan said he's "happy to make the list as an obligation" because free time means a lot to an enslaved man. Kit. KIT *stick figure gore of me sinking my talons into your shoulders* When Anakin says he has nothing to hide from Obi-Wan but Obi-Wan never asks and he feels like he's getting away with something each time he learns something while Obi-Wan is like. He can ask me anything. KIT *BLOOD IN MY MOUTH*
ahhh thank you so much!!! i really love writing chapters and answering asks about this fic because i'm really attached to these versions of obi-wan and anakin like. their motivations are so interesting to me, especially at this part of the story, in the beginning, when all they are are motivations
anakin absolutely feels this need to please and be loved and the focus of his master's attentions. he also feels helpless in the face of thinking obi-wan will never let him in like that. he also is unhealthily controlling in small ways (checking and rechecking his closed door, for one, trying to have a say in what he eats out of concerns for his health) but he just loves him so much and he really experienced like.d devastation when obi-wan was temporarily dead that i feel like altered his motivations fundamentally, especially because he restarted his heart so.....probably a tiny part of him....illogically feels as if that's his heart now......
and obi-wan absolutely thinks he is so transparent for anakin!! he has let him in!!! more than he's ever let anyone in at all probably, but it's probably not that much. he's so practiced at keeping him out and hiding his real emotions that that's second nature. not to mention he feels betrayed in his own way at anakin marrying padmé --instead of just having an affair with her-- and he's trying to frantically detach himself before anakin leaves the order because he'll be devastated when that happens. not to mention he can also be shit at respecting boundaries (he reads the messages on anakin's phone when he's asleep)
and it's all just so interesting especially because there's so much narrative bias and just narrative inaccuracies where the narrator/POV character completely reads the other's reactions wrong, which makes the little questionnaire at the end have so much more weight because the counselor is 1000% right when she says that that's what's most important--how they feel about each other and their relationship after honest deliberation and reflection

Hi would it be alright to request romantic yandere Anakin hcs who’s Jedi darling asked him to leave the Jedi order/council with her, cause she doesn’t want to be part of the war any more please 🙏
This request is very similar to one I did here, just that one was platonic and for Clone Wars. I will take a more general approach with this one :) Excited to write more Anakin. I used the plot/backstory of the platonic request but tweaked so please enjoy!
Yandere! Anakin has so much potential....
Yandere! Anakin with Jedi! Darling asking him to leave the order
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Female Darling, Obsession, Overprotective behavior, Manipulation, Violence, Mutual relationship turned forced, Implied intimacy, Paranoia, Dark themes, Imprisonment mentioned, Threats, Implied kidnapping/coercion, Kissing.
Tumblr media
In terms of backstory, you and Anakin are both Jedi working for the order.
In fact this can be the same backstory as the Clone Wars Anakin concept I did except romantic.
Which would be you both knew each other from your Padawan days and grew up alongside each other.
So this is essentially an AU where you become Anakin's romantic interest.
Jedi shouldn't have such strong personal connections but he can't help but fall for the young Padawan woman he's grown up with.
You two are inseparable, often training with each other or speaking with one another.
Perhaps your relationship starts mutual.
Anakin has fallen for you and you fall for him over time.
Your relationship has to be secret yet you make do.
Having an already established relationship may just make Anakin's obsession worse.
It's seen in the prequels that Anakin is someone driven by emotion.
He's scared to lose those he loves.
Anakin would also be the first to sense you not liking the war going on.
By the time you wish to leave, Anakin knows you inside and out.
He often meets you in private for "training", when in reality you both share intimacy.
Anakin is addicted to every kiss you give him and he loves your warmth and soft skin.
You're his girl, his woman, and he loves you with all his heart.
He's a man willing to do anything to keep you happy and safe.
In fact part of him constantly worries you'll be in danger due to being a Jedi Knight like him.
If anything his fear skyrockets at the idea of you being killed... especially later on.
When you tell Anakin you wish to leave The Order, he's on edge about it.
He stresses out and he's worried you're trying to leave him.
By this point you're either his girlfriend or wife, depends on if this is around Clone Wars or the third prequel.
He vents these worries to you in private.
He worries he's doing something wrong.
But that just isn't true, you hate all the fighting.
You don't know which side tells the truth and wish to leave... maybe even have your own family.
The idea of having a family with you make Anakin's heart flutter.
The idea of protecting you as his cute little house wife is an idea that pleases him.
Yet he hates the idea of leaving you alone.
Then you drop a bomb.
You want him to leave The Order with you.
Deep down, Anakin really does want to abandon everything and run off with you.
He wants to have a family, he wants to have kids, he wants to keep you safe as his wife and your husband.
At the same time he's still dedicated to The Order.
At first he ignores your offer, instead distracting you with a kiss and tight hug.
He can't ignore it for long unfortunately.
You echo the question back to him, a frown on your face.
One way or another you may leave The Order without Anakin.
He just can't abandon things right now.
The relationship/love for Anakin dies down for you as you make your case and leave for somewhere private.
To make this more yandere and dramatic let's say Anakin comes back to find you after he's joined the Dark Side but before he fought Obi-Wan.
Anakin would've convinced Palpatine to spare you from Order 66 as you will no longer be a problem.
I also have a feeling you left The Order and Anakin for a reason greater than just the war.
Perhaps you had visions of what he'd do in the future.
As a result you tried to change things, but to no avail.
However, Anakin was never ready to just let you go.
You most likely sense his presence, it's darker from the last time you saw him.
His desire for you is darker, he did what he could to prevent your death due to Order 66.
He chose darker power to protect you and now he's finally returned to you.
It was a trial to find where you went but he guessed it was so no one found you.
But Anakin would always find you... he knows how to sense you.
His presence frightens you when he makes his way to your planet with Clone Troopers at his side.
You ask him if he'll kill you, you ask him why he couldn't just forget you after he left.
He made his decision... you made yours... what does he want?
Anakin reassures you he isn't going to kill you, in fact he made you an exception to the Order 66 rule.
No... Anakin came to collect you.
If you had kids then he'll take them too.
Their fate is unknown, however....
Anakin has just missed you so much and regrets not following you back then.
Maybe you had a point to leave....
Yet, Anakin is here now to love and adore you just like before.
You're stiff in his arms when he embraces you, kissing near your neck and cheek while whispering how much he missed you.
Things can be different now, he'll make it different.
He threatens you to not fight him on this.
If you fight him then he'll have to call for your imprisonment.
He's worked hard to make things perfect for the both of you.
Sure, he's given into the Dark Side, but you'll still love him, right?
Of course you will....
There's no need to be hiding from anyone now... he'll protect you as he did before.
Even if you're imprisoned due to no longer loving him and he's cast into lava... he'll probably still care for you somewhere in his heart until you die.

So, since its been a bit, let's start with a criticism.
Cody was badly handled in TBB.
( In fairness, a lot of things were. An unbelievable amount of things were. I'll eventually get to a full list. )
The thing about Commander Cody, is that he represents several things and is symbolic of several things.
He's the Hero-Mentor Archetype, shared with Obi-wan Kenobi. He's there to set the example to the characters the ideal of what he does, as well as serve as example to the Audience of what the function of this character in the greater universe is--both as function and, since we're in the space opera and symbolism is key, an indicator of the greater world-build at large. This is better shown in TCWs, though unfortunately, even there it falls through because TCWs didn't focus on the Clones outside of a handful of episodes (which is a damn shame, given the set up.)
Cody is the First Clone Character. He's the first named clone who has an effect on the world and thus catches the audience's eye. Just as Kenobi was the first Jedi character to ever be introduced, and thus, sets the example for every Jedi Character after him. ( Mind that i said Character. A person in the nameless mass that does nothing but sit there for a scene and is barely noticeable, is no more a character than a barrel in another scene. If something is just there to fill the backdrop, its not a character. Its filled scene space. ) Because Cody is the Clone's Clone, he serves as an example of what the greater clone world is: in his case, what the Ideal is, just Kenobi does for the Jedi. If something has gone wrong with the greater system, you will see it in them. ( Think Kenobi and the Hardeen situation. Then compare the Jedi's attitude with Ahsoka's trial. If the show isn't enough, try the Prequel Trilogy--Kenobi's criticism of Qui-gon Jin for picking up Anakin, and then how the attitude is reflected in the Jedi Council upon confronting Anakin. )
So, there's your backdrop.
The way TBBshow treats Cody starts off as, actually, rather decent.
Commander Cody wouldn't be just another Guest Character to take focus away from story, character and plot ( as an excuse to not write either three), it would make sense for him to show up in the immediate Post-Order 66 era.
His Gray Paint is also very nice.
I personally subscribe to the idea that, since the 212th had golden colors and Cody himself had a sun-like motif about him--the gray out was, in a sense, a parallel to the Deathstar.
Its a "star" but its moon gray and it causes death where ever it targets.
NOT-BONUS: Being familiar with Crosshair would've been a bonus, it makes for a nice touch on a pre-established relationship from TCWs--the problem is, is that the reason Crosshair is even there is a broken argument for a piss poor planning from Season 1. Crosshair is there, because the writers want him to be there, and not for anything reasonable in-story--remember, they even dropped the Chip plotline. There is no reason for Crosshair to be in the empire besides the fanfic plot of "The Jerk must be Evil because he's said Not Nice Things".
And that's where it stops.
Because we've suddenly got a Cody with Personality, in a time where y'know, that doesn't make any sense.
You could argue that "oh the chip wears off!"... which is from the same show that completely forgets about the chip a quarter way through, and would rather blame its victims for not trying to not do evil things when under influence.
And it ends with "Oh he ran away". With the implication of "Oh he just disagreed with the Empire!"
... Several things there, folks:
The Republic was the same way. Watch Phantom Menace. Watch the Clone Wars. What happened on that episode, is half the arcs and seasons on the Clone Wars. Except without trench warfare and the cost of thousands fo lives. If anything, it was arguably more peaceful than anything the Clone Wars produced.
It breaks Cody as a character. He's meant to represent Clones as a whole, just as Kenobi represents Jedi as a whole. Clones as a whole are under the chip influence and are willingly serving the empire; and even if they weren't, Pre-TCWs Extended Universe has several arguments (not necessarily good ones) about how clone training would've made systematic orders very easy for clones. Cody is meant to be under the influence. If anything, he's meant to be the Imperial's Imperial Clone by this point. Because by his nature as a clone in Star Wars, he falls to the Empire and Hunts Jedi down, because that's what being the Clone's Clone is in a Post Order 66 era. It is, in fact, a very important marking point in the whole Prequels and TCWs, that this happens.
It continues the obvious flaw: Lack of Communication and the Writer's inability to write anything deeper than One Liners You're telling me that the Officer in Charge, who would call one of his troops "Son" like he's a grizzled war-vet, who would be a gentleman one minute and fist fight walking-talking solid metal-bot, who has supposedly taken example from Kenobi the art of subterfuge, wouldn't confront Crosshair if he disagreed with Crosshair's methods? Congratulations, the new personality trait for Cody of the TBB is Cowardice. I'm so fucking happy about it. Really I am. No matter how boring and overtalkative they were, even the Prequels were capable of meaningful conversations. For one thing, they painfully talked about how Anakin repeatedly killed people. TBB does not have meaningful conversations. Oh it'll look to the wind dramatically and make the audience think that something is happening, and yeah, its fun to imagine that something up... ... But remember that nothing is actually there.
The "Story is Elsewhere" Then why aren't they writing That Story Elsewhere then? Fun thing about stories, is that, if you want them to happen, you Write Them. "Expanding in order to ensure other media" Thanks, I can find a regular Clickbait Content Farm online, without having to pay subscription for one. "Expanding on Star Wars at another time" I can go on AO3, for that, thank you. The ultimate truth is, is that this team cannot write. They will throw in a bunch of characters and references to get the blood pumping, but the moment you look back and see what is happening, you realize, absolutely nothing is happening at all. They would rather bank on resurrecting Ventress meaninglessly, than confront the fact that they killed Tech, who is by all time spent and story applied (regardless of quality at this point), a much more important character. They would rather dangle the kid sidekick from name any last century sci-fi shows, than confront the fact that Crosshair got brainwashed, and when they do confront that, its with the help of the sidekick like she's gods damn discount bootleg of Steven Universe, and with a helping heap of Victim Blaming. Why is a more interesting and meaningful story Implied to be elsewhere, when you could be writing an interesting and meaningful story Now what you have?
Now the thing about criticism, is that its easy, so how bout I offer a better scenario with what we have?
( I'll offer an Actually Decent Scenario when "Rewriting TBB" comes up. For now, we work with just the episode. )
Crosshair meets Cody again, they go on mission to take back a Separatist world. ( Yes, take back, because the Empire is also the Republic but with the shackles off, remember this. The Clone Wars didn't end just because the Jedi are dead. )
Cody doesn't call anyone by their names, except for Crosshair. (Working off of Imperial themes from S1). Besides that small issue of calling his brothers by their numbers, he otherwise seems to act like Cody.
After some cool fight scenes that play off of Cody and Crosshair' strengths--such as Crosshair sniping and mirror calculations, and Cody's ability to fist fight Robocop--they reach the planetary leader area.
Crosshair is, as a proper Sniper, is directed to set up in a sniping position to watch Cody's back, whilst negotiations under duress happen. It ends with Cody putting a blaster bolt through the Seppie Leader's head.
Now such heartlessness is something that Crosshair would expect out of himself (He knows what needs to be done--he's a sniper, he's been trained, there's already blood on his hands so he thinks he damned anyway), but it coming out of Cody is shocking. Because Cody is the Good Guys' Good Guy for Clones, any clones.
( In this instance, its both a shock and a sad confirmation to the audience, because we know and acknowledge the chip, and its much more powerful and tragic to see it affect someone as important and long standing as Commander Cody )
Crosshair confronts Cody about it, and Cody brushes it off as simply following orders for the greater good. When Crosshair pushes-- because as a Bad Batcher, pushing things beyond acceptable social limits is in the job description--Cody implies a threat, asking if Crosshair is thinking about going against orders in command.
( We can even have a nice shot of a thigh blaster with Cody's hand near it, with some dramatic, quiet music that thumps )
Crosshair goes "No sir", and the episode ends with the implication that Crosshair seeing what the Empire has been doing to the people he knew.
Cue the credits.

What if Palpatine slips up and Fox discovers the Sith code? And goes, huh, that looks like a sensible set of rules. What then?
Peace is a lie, there is only suffering. Through suffering, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.
Fox doesn't know *when* he found out about The Code. He didn't know about it when he left Kamino and he doesn't remember hearing it from anyone afterward. The knowledge is just *there*.
But.
It just makes So. Much. Sense. The first part (Peace is a lie, there is only suffering) is objectively true and the rest? Lays out a path for success. And it totally works! (He gets The Code put up on one of the walls of their HQ. Something that useful? Needs to be *shared*.)
Instead of being beaten down by the suffering he and his men experience, he can follow the Code and allow it to strengthen them. It's them against the Senate, against the whole galaxy even, maybe, and once he's decided to Do Something? Well. That conviction *is* power. As is the degree of control the Corries can exercise over the Senate, the very nerve center of the Republic, should they choose to do so.
And if the Code says to use that power to gain victory? Well then it's just a matter of deciding what victory looks like, isn't it? That victory involves every being who ever abused a Corrie getting a blaster to the face? Shouldn't have been a bunch of chain gilding brother raping shabuir'e, should you? Karma motherfucker.
Fox kills Palpatine personally. (Something prompts him to do it while the chancellor is sleeping. Fox trusts his instincts. And he's a soldier. He's in favor of effectiveness, not grandstanding or torture in the name of revenge.) That after the fact the Corries discover Palpatine was a force user with lightsabers, a direct connection to the Separatists, multiple trillion credit accounts and the underpinnings for a galactic empire? Score!
But -- the Jedi are appalled.
Mace: This is the Sith code. You have to renounce it. Fox: Respectfully, sir (not at all respectful), if you want us to do something else, then make it so that it isn't true. Fox: Our lives have been suffering from decanting on. Of my batch, I'm the only one who wasn't killed for a cosmetic defect. I've gotten four hours of sleep out of the last 72 and all of it was napping while standing up during my Senate shift. Fox: You want me to make a different choice? Then make it so we're not suffering. Mace: That code is *wrong*. Fox: ::looks between him and the dead architect of the war:: Seems accurate to me. Mace: ::massaging nose:: Causing others to suffer is wrong. Fox: He didn't suffer. One shot through the heart, then a second through the head just to be sure. He didn't feel a thing. Unfortunately. Mace: ::growling:: Quinlain. Kriffing. Vos. You have a lot to answer for.
And that? Was a big mistake.
Because Fox? Has Opinions about Jedi. He's okay with them taking custody of the Sith artifacts, because that's *their job*. But individual Jedi? Plo Koon? Universally good. Obi-Wan Kenobi? Decent fellow, but Fox will shiv him if he breaks Cody's heart. Anakin Skywalker? Needs to be drowned. Shaak Ti? Useless and ineffectual. Windu? Well, he's not exactly been making any friends with his attitude, but he's the bane of Skywalker's existence, so Fox is inclined to give him some slack.
But if Windu's going after Vos? The one Jedi that's been anything like good to the Guard? Well... Fox has a lot of blackmail. And he's creatively vindictive. So:
Fox: If you try to punish Vos, you'll regret it. Mace: ::getting out lightsaber:: I won't let you kill me. Fox: ::disdainful eyebrow, scoffing laugh:: You wish. ::lifts comm to his mouth:: I'm just going to make sure that every theater on Coruscant is closed. Permanently. Mace: You monster.
Without an immediate physical threat, Mace has no grounds for lightsabering Fox. And Fox? Has employed his newly empowered Corries (and newly depopulated Senate) to implement Palpatine's empire. With himself in charge.
And of course Fox has gotten his hands on Palpatine's lightsaber. Thorn: Weren't you supposed to turn that over to the Jedi? Fox: I did. Thorn: Then what's it doing here? Fox: There were two. They got one, I got one. Thorn: ...do they know that?
That an empire run by a clone may not be what the galaxy as a whole wants? Not really something Fox cares about one way or the other. He wants to protect his people, starting with the Guard, then the rest of the Vode, then those they care about. That's it. And he has the power to do so, so he's going to make it happen.
But everyone who isn't a Corrie? Has no clue what Fox is up to. And so, once Fox has gotten far enough in his plans that his Empire is a reality and everyone else catches on to the new order of things:
Cody, Rex and Wolffe bursting into Emperor Fox's office: Cody: We can't let you kill our Jedi. Fox: ::blandly:: I'm not going to kill your Jedi. ::looks at Rex:: Yours, maybe, if you don't get him off Coruscant. Rex: ...that's fair. Wolffe: What? Buir said you follow the Sith code. Sith *kill* Jedi. Fox: ::rolls eyes:: I found a set of instructions that worked and I followed them. Does reading a blaster maintenance manual make you a blaster? Or an engineer?
And he's not wrong. So the commanders (and Mace) talk to the Council, who decide they want to see Fox personally. And, again, Fox has nothing against the Jedi (yet -- he has nothing against them *yet*), so he goes.
Council: What are your demands? Fox: As long as I'm emperor, whenever a Jedi goes on a mission, they're accompanied by the Vode. Council: That's it? You follow the Sith code?! Fox: Yes? I'm a dictator, not an asshole. I have no intention of hurting the Jedi. Yoda: The Sith, evil are. Fox: On the other hand, if you're going to define wanting to be free as evil I can always change that. Fox: And *unlike* you, my government will be actively freeing slaves. So much for Jedi being good, hmm? ::micdrop::
He never relaxes the requirement that they be accompanied by the Vode -- because Jedi, the good Jedi anyway -- are stupidly self-sacrificing and deserve to be protected like an endangered species. (The bad Jedi? Like Krell? Can be Dealt With like everyone else who's harmed a vod. Looking at you, Kaminoans.)
The merely annoying Jedi? Those can be dealt with more creatively. Mace intelligently backed down. Yoda and Anakin however face constant annoyance. (Really, from a certain point of view, Fox is doing Amidala a *favor* matchmaking her with Thorn.)
Vos: You know, you *are* making someone suffer. Fox: Yes? Jedi: Anakin. Fox: I'm not drawing strength from his suffering or whatever it is you think I'm doing. Fox: I just hate him. Vos: …that's fair.
Fox ends up leading the first *successful* Sith empire, handing it over to Thorn and Padme's daughter in a peaceful exchange of power when she gets old enough. While the Vode have settled all over the galaxy (and a surprising number on Kamino), Fox chooses to retire to one of Palpatine's many many estates to live out his remaining years in peace, accompanied by a remarkably large portion of the rabidly loyal former Coruscant Guard.
And Vos. Because despite everything Fox has done to normalize the Sith code as a way *out* of suffering, the Jedi are still close-minded judgmental religious fanatics who hold the fact that Vos fell against him even though they *ordered* him to do it. Even though he clawed his way back while they tried to tell him it was impossible. (And if Fox has plans already drawn up for a Force-sensitive Sith order? Well, Fox has a *lot* of plans.)
And if Vos being with him means that Cody visits more often so that Kenobi can see his best friend? Well, Fox never minds getting to spend time with his Vode.
He'll talk Kenobi into being the grandmaster of the new Sith order eventually.

Please go off on Master and Apprentice. Share please.
Okay I won't tag because I'm sure lots of people liked it and that's fair. YMMV. This is gonna be an uncharitable rant because I gotta complain and you have given me an excuse to.
To start I was listening to the audiobook and I didn't like the narrator's reading. It wasn't a bad reading it was very professional and he did different voices. He did a good job. I just didn't enjoy his voice. I recommend it if you like audiobooks and want to check out the book yourself because I think this is for sure a just me thing, but it might have added to why I feel so strongly about this.
Salt under the cut.
The main things that I didn't enjoy about the book were Qui-Gon's relationship with prophecy, the way Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's rift was handled, Rael and Fanry being an obvious student falling to the Darkside metaphor but not really adding anything new to it, and the awkward way the book was trying to be in conversation with the prequels. Also I liked Rahara well enough, but I was never really invested in what was happening with her and Pax.
1. Qui-Gon and the Prophecy. I liked all of it up until Qui-Gon has his own prophecy and that being where his certainty comes from. I'd find it more interesting if he found his connection to the metaphysical through faith or in deliberate thought and consideration. Or even someone else having a vision and him coming to believe it. It just felt like a cop out to explain why Qui-Gon who is so grounded in the living force and here and now would believe in the prophecy of the chosen one when even members of the council are doubtful in TPM. Qui-Gon having it makes him look arrogant like he only believes in his own experiences. I don't know just rubbed me the wrong way.
2. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon having a rift is fine, but the way it's set up means that it's been going on for four years with both aware of it. Qui-Gon throughout the book is seen as someone who takes everyone's point of view and even without aid of the Force is good at reading people. Several times in his pov he thinks how he knows exactly what Obi-Wan is thinking or feeling. He also seems completely aware why his teaching methods aren't getting through, but he doesn't change or try to communicate with Obi-Wan. He keeps waiting for Obi-Wan to change.
That's not a bad set up by itself, but the book contradicts itself. It keeps trying to convince you how great Qui-Gon is at teaching and communicating and then going on about how he thinks he's bad at it.
The book also passively mentions how Qui-Gon is a rebel and Obi-Wan is by the book. I think that's supposed to be their main clash, but it's murky. It kind of just shows itself by Obi-Wan bringing something up and at times being naive or callous in his interpretion and Qui-Gon being all: but think of the moral implications. Both of them are insufferable in those moments.
The conflict isn't resolved very well either. In the end Qui-Gon decides not to be a member of the Council and you think, oh it's in part because he wants to finish Obi-Wan's training, but it doesn't even get mentioned in his thought process. The actual thing that fixed the problem was Qui-Gon finally using his words and then it seemed like he immediately stopped using them again. So much for growth. I honestly think if Obi-Wan was fourteen or fifteen, the age Qui-Gon is in the flashbacks it would have made it work better and more comparisons between Dooku, Rael, and Qui-Gon's ways of teaching could have happened.
3. I saw the twist coming from the moment Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan conclude Fanry's guard is super loyal, so almost the beginning. Ah she actually doesn't want a constitutional monarchy I thought. She's gonna be the main antagonist. So maybe waiting for the shoe to drop made me annoyed when it came. Look yet another member of Disaster lineage whose pupil 'turns to the Darkside.' yes Fanry's not a Jedi but the comparison is obvious.
It just felt done to death honestly? I could see where the book was going about attachment. It wasn't even a bad example, but I just didn't care. Rael felt like a weird Anakin knockoff. Like why did he have to be an unconventional Jedi? Wouldn't it have been more interesting if a by the book Jedi had been going through these things? The outsider thing just felt like cream on a nothing cake recycling stuff from the prequels and not even really giving it a satisfying ending. Rael chooses to continue to be a Jedi even if he has to face the council. He chooses the light. So what? What happened with Fanry who tried to murder a bunch of people? Oh she's under house arrest for four years and we never hear from her after she gets couped? Cool. Didn't really care about her anyway book so glad to see you're not wasting my time with it. Like she's so obviously a plot device to be Betrayal Student and once that's done the book does not care about her anymore. It was like. Oh an opportunity for her character to be interesting but all she did was spew Dark Side Character lines and was conveniently put on a bus when she wasn't needed anymore.
4. Rahara and Pax. I liked Rahara, but I found the plot about the slavery once again trying too hard to have a conversation with the prequels without actually saying much of anything. It felt heavy handed. Pax's character growth wasn't terrible. The book was making him annoying on purpose, but it honestly felt like a dunk on neurodivergent people if I'm being honest and love 'fixes' him. The glove bit was actually very cute. There were good moments between them, I wanted to care about them more, but I didn't. I wanted to be back in Qui-Gon's or Obi-Wan's pov or any of the people from the palace including Rael. They were just kind of boring. Once again they were there because the plot needed someone to start a slave rebellion and it didn't make them particularly fun to read about.
5. Also the book tried to explain why it was dangerous for Jedi to go against their mandate in the most unconvincing way possible. Like Jedi shouldn't do this. Also there's slavery and someone should do something about that. The republic or someone who never will. Jedi cannot amass power. Although the Jedi are right there ... but they can't be soley responsible for change ... Unless...
I mean at least the book tried to explain why Jedi don't solve all the galaxy's problems, but it just makes you think they should drop their mandate and try to solve the galaxy's problems.
It felt like the book was saying at the end: Qui-Gon is morally superior to all Jedi especially the Council. I don't think that was the book's intention but that's how it came across to me and it sucked. Especially after Qui-Gon and his prophecy stuff left such a bad taste in my mouth and his training of Obi-Wan never gets an emotional conclusion except as an epilogue with Qui-Gon dead and Obi-Wan reflecting. (The phantom menace epilogue also felt like a cheap way to try to get an emotional pay off btw)
6. Oh Obi-Wan in the ship inside a ship felt like a rip-off of TPM when Anakin destroys the droid control ship and it being the origin of him not liking the fly did nothing for me. Like it was the pay off to something the book continued to set up. Oh he loves flying so much let's mention how much he enjoys it and how good he is at it. It's all to set up that moment and that moment wasn't a good punchline. It was a lazy sequence and added nothing for his character.
So yeah those are my main points of dislike.
Snippets I liked:
Obi-Wan befriending a varadactyl. Should have had more of that. Him riding in on his loyal mount should have been his big action moment honestly not the ship inside a ship bullshit.
Qui-Gon and Dooku flashbacks. I liked those. I thought there was good stuff in there. The detail of Dooku never helping with homework but letting Qui-Gon in his rooms to snack while he does it was a good character detail.
At first I thought the fake Kyber crystal thing would annoy me but I did actually like the switcharoo with Obi-Wan's crystal being switched and letting him get through the shield. The explanation felt a little sloppy. Like it is set up but I thought Obi-Wan figuring it out and switching it himself would have been better. Like a: I am so glad that worked! moment after. It could have linked in with the Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon rift showing that Obi-Wan was taking Qui-Gon's fears seriously and showing Qui-Gon the faith his Padawan has in him despite their disagreements and show him Obi-Wan can improvise. I digress.
The: you would have cut him in half line WAS pretty funny. Oh Obi-Wan always gotta cut someone to bits.
Qui-Gon being told to drop his weapon twice by someone with no experience in holding someone up and each time explaining exactly why he wasn't going to do that and the person being like: .... Yeah okay.
I had heard about the contrarian Obi-Wan thing before reading this and him being paired with Qui-Gon because his ultimate rebellion against Qui-Gon would be being a stickler for the rules which I liked before reading this book but now I'm kind of meh about it. Oh well.
So yeah, end rant. If you actually read this and you liked the book that's great. Everyone's taste is different. This one was not for me.

What could have been.
Warning
I want to clarify that this does not belong to me, I did not write it. But I wanted to share it with you, but the image looked terrible when I tried to upload it so I decided to transcribe it for you. Above is the link to see the image.
-You are on this council… But we do not grant you the rank of master- declared Master Windu
-… What?- Anakin exclaimed confused. Windu, Obi-wan and Yoda then expected a negative reaction from the Jedi Knight -No, I mean, what did you say? My hearing has been off ever since Master Kenobi and i rescued the Chancellor-
-He's right- Kenobi stated -As it turns out, crashing a capital ship without protecting you ears ir quite damaging to your hearing. The two of us are scheduled for ear surgery next thursday-
-Oh, my mistake. I assumed it was just a poor reaction to the council's decision. I said that you are on the council, but are not yet a master. However, now that i am reminded of it, i believe that rescuing the galaxy's most important head-of-state is an admirable substitute for the trials. Congratulations, Master Skywalker-
-This is an incredible honour- Anakin bows in gratitude -thank you for being open my talents, Master Windu, in spite of my recent arrogance. I will take a seat now-
-While we're on the topic, i suggest we wait until Master Kenobi's surgery is finished before we pursue Grievous. I mean, if the sequels are anything to go by, there's only a handful of planets he could be hiding on- said Mace Windu
-Good observation. If he's hiding in the Outer rim, we may wish to wait further - it would be smarter to work with an independent system, rather than invade and betray everything our Republic stands for-
-I concur. Not only would such a decision help transition the Republic back into a peacetime mindset, but it would leave enough ships to stop the droid attack on Kashyyyk with few casualties- The Cerean addressed the long-lived Jedi -What say you, Master Yoda?-
But Yoda did not answer, he remained silent. Until Obi-Wan spoke -…Master Yoda?-
-…Wrong, this all is-
-I'm sorry? I don't understand what you mean- Anakin asked, believing he had another problem with his hearing
-How it happend, this is not. Denied mastery, you were and bitched you did. Take caution, we did not. Reflect, we did not. Pursue peace and cooperation, we did not. Meta jokes made, they were not…- Yoda continued rambling until he came to a logical conclusion, logical to him -Real, this cannot be. A dream, this is-
-Of course this isn't real, old friend. But who is to say you cannot enjoy the euphoria of what could have been, even if only for a moment?- Obi-Wan's young voice deteriorated like his body, with each word he grew older…

Obikin-fan!you made me question my whole view of their dynamic which... I've changed my mind. Seeing them as brothers is awesome, my desperate-for-brotherhood-6yo self totally bought into obi-wan's "you were like a brother to me" and fed onto this for years. But then you barged in with your romantic!obikin and I had to sit with my thoughts for a second cause my first reaction was "but Obi-Wan is too old for Anakin!!! he is an adult when he meets ani who isn't even a teen and..." and Padme is the same age as Obi-Wan and that never bothered me??? But then it's ✨️ canonical ✨️ and ✨️ straight ✨️ so it seems more acceptable? Nah I'm not buying this anymore, which means that I have no more arguments against the ship and ughhh but also yay... It's not that I'm diving right into it at the moment but damn I might
I can hear you chanting "one of us" as I'm typing this btw
One of us one of us one of us one of us
To be fair Obikin have an age difference of 16 years and Anidala have an age difference of 5 years so it's not exactly the same age range, and Padmé didn't contribute to raising him. Personally the way they interact once Anakin is older kind of makes me kind of like see past it (+ I really don't care about age gaps in fiction) but it's totally valid and fair to see it as purely platonic. The only thing that isn't valid is calling someone a pedophile and/or incestuous over characters who don't exist, but you're free to have your own vision of said characters and even think it's really kinda weird that some people are into them as romantic partners (and also personally I dislike people who downplay the importance of their relationship in the narrative and to each other)
The way I see it, the war changes their dynamic a lot: in ep2 Obi-Wan is responsible for Anakin, he's his master, and you can tell they're kind of struggling there because Anakin doesn't want to do what Obi-Wan says and Obi-Wan is kind of tired of his shit. That would make a relationship pretty iffy morally (not that it can't be hot honestly), but after Geonosis Anakin is knighted, he's not Obi-Wan's responsibility, and they have three years of fighting side by side as equals. That's a much better start for a romance, because they're on equal footing, and they spend a lot of time together doing ambiguously romantic things (I won't say "friends don't do that" because we know that's bullshit but like, they act in ways that can easily be interpreted as romantic, or that would generally be read as romantic without context).
The "you're like a father to me"/"you were my brother" lines I don't discard because they're really interesting but I see the romantic aspect of their relationship as kind of like - listen these two have really untangled lives! Obi-Wan was Anakin's kind of father figure but also his mentor, and Anakin was Obi-Wan's responsibility and his apprentice but also his brother, that's a lot of complex roles and a lot of facets to a relationship that we know is close - they fly in sync at the start of ep3, Obi-Wan knows what to say to get Anakin to cheer up in the elevator in ep2, they know each other, they mean a lot to each other, Anakin clearly doesn't care about having normal healthy relationships and Obi-Wan loves him more than anything he could ever do wrong (that's a quote from Andor but there's a reason it gets reused a lot for this ship), why not ALSO make them fuck & kiss y'know?
That said you don't have to jump on the ship immediately or at all! Personally I find them super compelling (and also extremely canonical if you look at all the stuff they share) but SW is so big that there's always something that's perfect for you, whatever that is. Anyway. I like them a normal amount.

Hey - just wanted to send a note after your last post bc I didn't interact with your Vader mpreg posts and wanted to explain why ,- it's not at all because I find you grotesque or any of those other terrible things!! I love your writing, I'm just in an Obi-Wan whump hyperfixation rn and scroll past anything that doesn't mention him 😭 I'm so sorry, it was never my intention to dig up any bad thoughts!! Sending you hugs ❤️
Hey friendo ❤️ Thanks for the ask and for sharing your feelings with me! I'm super grateful for your reassurance, you are very kind. I also really want you and everyone else to understand that y'all did absolutely nothing wrong. (Radiates huge hug energy for everyone!)
Like, I have scrolled past many a post without interacting with it. Sometimes I've even scrolled past posts that I want to interact with but am simply having a bout of executive dysfunction for whatever reason. There've also been many, many, many times (practically every time honestly) in which I do not reach the end of my dash by the end of the day and countless posts are lost to the whims of time because of it. And yeah, people will try to make us feel guilty for that. People who are hurting will especially try to make us feel guilty for that. There is post after post after post after post on this website demonizing people who don't comment or reblog for "ruining fandom." But those posts aren't being fair. Those posts are just coming from people who are hurting.
The truth is that life just be like this sometimes.
Regarding the other thing you said, I am well aware people follow me for a variety of interests! I know that not everyone shares my interest in horrifying atrocities against trainwreck villains, and that's fabulously okay with me. :) I like having differing dimensions and moods and places to exist. It's good for rainy days like today! And I'm very grateful that my broad spectrum of interests doesn't stop you from enjoying the things I post that you are interested in; that makes me incredibly relieved to hear!!
But yeah, so an interaction with a post about, say, Every Shadow isn't an interaction stolen from Vader's uterus. At least, not in my mind. It's true that I may be having feelings right now that are first affecting my ability to work on tamer/more popular interests -- but that doesn't mean I've forgotten every single wonderful person who has conveyed enjoyment of those interests! To the contrary, those people (you included!) make very happy and will continue to make me happy and have no bearing on my sad feelings in any way whatsoever. I enjoy asks about shadow AU and reblogs of Every Shadow chapters and likes of my dumb hot takes just as much today as I will next week and as I did last year. Yo, yesterday, someone even commented on one of the first Loki fanfics I ever wrote (back in 2014!), and even that gave me pure and utter joy. Believe it or not, there's no possible interaction any single one of you could have with me that could dig up bad thoughts or otherwise hurt me. So please don't ever feel like my sad feelings are reflective of anything anyone did or didn't do. <3
My sad feelings are a Me Problem, not a fandom problem. And sometimes Me Problems are nobody's fault. Sometimes people feel bad or need to take steps to preserve their mental health, and it's only the fault of some stupid brain chemicals trained to cause certain illogical reactions. But I'm gonna be fine, anon, so you keep being you. :)

Swearwolves???? Oh do tell 👀👀👀
My beloved twin!!! Thank you 🥰 The fic has nothing to do with swearwolves sadly, just garden variety werewolves. It’s werewolf Anakin and his two little werepuppies, Luke and Leia, who immediately imprint on human Obi-Wan. The Skywalker genes are powerful!
Here’s a snippet. I’ve written almost nothing, but I love the puppies! Were-Anakin isn't even in it yet, he's off doing wolf things (brooding, howling etc.)
The always wonderful @bi-wan has drawn some adorable werewolf + Obi-Wan art!
It’s around the time that Obi-Wan stumbles bodily into a tree that he considers that he might have made a mistake. Or rather, a series of mistakes, that led him to this exact moment.
His first mistake had been befriending Qui-Gon to begin with, because Qui-Gon is the one who told him about the unusual moss growing deep in the forest. Qui-Gon is the one who gave him the coordinates from his last hike and who insisted that this part of the mountain was safe, that it would be simple day trip at most, and that this moss was in a precarious enough position that it simply couldn’t wait for Obi-Wan to find a colleague willing to spend their afternoon traipsing across a mountain with him.
His second mistake was not believing the weather forecast (meteorologists are always wrong! The sky was clear! They’d called for rain all week and yet they failed to deliver!) and setting out into the forest with nothing but optimism and good cheer.
Well, not nothing. Obi-Wan wasn’t born yesterday (far from it, as his lower back reminds him whenever he bends to take his clothes out of the dryer). He has the usual supplies for a decently long hike: first aid kit, hiking boots, phone, food, water—
Not that water is in short supply.
The sky rumbles and the trees thrash and Obi-Wan shields his eyes from the rain to no avail. His jacket was perfect for a clear spring day but is proving worse than useless now. It hangs on him wet and cold like the damp embodiment of his poor foresight.
Lightning forks overhead and Obi-Wan flinches and presses against the tree reflexively. His GPS is useless, the paper map he took with him has blown away and he has absolutely no reception.
As though calling anyone would accomplish anything of note. What would he say, even if he could reach emergency services? ‘Hello, 911? Please come and retrieve me from the woods. Yes, I know I shouldn’t be out in this weather. You want to know where, specifically, I am? Well, I see some trees, a rock—yes, I do know what a forest is—’
There’s no need to panic. Obi-Wan has been in his fair share of scrapes before. One doesn’t make it as a botanist without accidentally inhaling a few spores. He knows the basics of storm survival. And since option A of ‘don’t go out in a thunderstorm obviously, what is the matter with you?’ is no longer available, he will settle for option B.
Obi-Wan finds a suitable tree, not isolated, with no particularly precarious looking branches, and squats down beneath it. It seems relatively safe, or as safe as is possible when the very elements are conspiring against him, and Obi-Wan settles against the rough bark with shudder.
Obi-Wan tucks his head between his knees and braces for the next roll of thunder and accompanying flash. He can pass the time by counting the time between thunder and lightning to determine the storm’s distance.
One, two—
The grove shakes and Obi-Wan hugs his knees to his chest protectively.
Maybe a different game?
He’s cold and damp and wondering what exactly they’ll write in the obituary of a man killed by a lightning strike (Obi-Wan Kenobi: personally despised by Zeus) when he feels movement at his foot.
And hears, beneath the roar of the storm, a whimper.
What?
Obi-Wan jerks his head up and combs back his soaked hair to make confused, wet eye contact with two dogs, no—
Two wolves.
Or wolf puppies, more accurately, because these are tiny things. Both wet from the rain and both so cute that under any other circumstances Obi-Wan would be cooing and pulling out his phone for a thousand photos. In the next flash of lightning Obi-Wan sees that one is almost golden and the other, even smaller wolf, is a dark brown.
Are they here to…eat him? They don’t look very aggressive.
As though sensing his thoughts the darker pup nudges against him and tugs at his shoelaces ferociously.
Maybe he’s safe? Maybe these wolves only eat shoes?
The paler pup yaps (Obi-Wan thinks, at least, because the sound is drowned out by the next clap of thunder) and runs a few feet away, staring back at Obi-Wan expectantly.
“Hello there,” Obi-Wan tries, as though these wolf puppies might understand him. He’s always gotten along well with animals, and it seems only polite to offer some sort of greeting. “Are you also hiding from the storm?”
The darker puppy nips his ankle and Obi-Wan yelps.
“Very rude,” he admonishes, and she slinks back a few inches, peering up at him balefully.
The wind howls and Obi-Wan winces against the harsh blast of rainwater. If he’s miserable he can only imagine how unhappy the wolf pups are. True, they have fur, but they’re just tiny things. They should be curled up in a den with their mother, not sheltering against some middle-aged botanist in what is proving to be a practically biblical storm.
Poor things. Obi-Wan gestures to bring the puppies closer. “Stay close to me, little ones. Where is your mother? You shouldn’t be out in this. Neither should I, mind, but—”
In the next flash Obi-Wan sees the paler puppy some distance away, and Obi-Wan’s heart lurches. “Stay here,” Obi-Wan cries out. “You’re not safe out in the open—”
The girl pup steps closer and tugs on Obi-Wan’s shoe again, in the direction of her brother.
“Do you…want me to follow you?”
She perks up and runs back and forth frantically, staring up at Obi-Wan with enormous brown eyes.
That’s a ‘yes’ then.
It seems insane on several levels. First, wolves do not understand English, as far as Obi-Wan is aware. Second, Obi-Wan is not in the habit of following total strangers home, especially when those strangers are carnivorous wildlife that might kill him.
It’s true that wolves don’t generally eat people, but that might be because humans and wolves so rarely interact. Even the cutest, fluffiest wolves (the ones before him, for example) might find themselves tempted if Obi-Wan delivers himself to them like so many pizzas.
“Do you have shelter?” Obi-Wan asks, because he’s already tried speaking with the puppies and he can’t look any more insane at this rate. “Somewhere safe?”
The paler wolf continues his frantic circling and in the next flash Obi-Wan thinks he sees the lip of a cave, a small, dark impression in an outcropping. Could that be their home? Could that be where the puppies are leading him?
“The real question is, how would I prefer to die?” Obi-Wan shivers in the rain and considers his options. “Would I rather be struck by lightning? Or devoured by wolves?”
Tough choice.
The darker wolf tugs on his shoelace harder while the paler one cocks his head curiously, as though he’s genuinely waiting for a response. Obi-Wan feels an almost overwhelming swell of affection for these tiny, adorable, possibly man-eating babies, and an immediate jolt of panic when a fork of lightning slices through the darkness and a branch snaps off nearby with a sickening crack.
Death by cuddly apex predators it is.
“I’m choosing to trust you,” Obi-Wan mutters to the brown puppy. Time to put his life in their hands.
Well. Paws.
Obi-Wan stands, and the two puppies scurry around the underbrush excitedly. “Lead the way, little darlings,” he says, and follows the small, quick shapes towards the mouth of the cave.
Towards what Obi-Wan can only pray is the lesser of two evils.

I'm going to hell anyway so might as well have fun before the flames hit. Can I see some more Luke/Vader head canons? Preferably with a fuck ton of daddy kink?
Lol if it is what you and your trashy panda heart hungers for, I will do my best to provide:
TW: Anakin/Luke, incest, daddy kinks, possessive behavior, language, unhealthy relationships, dark elements, icky stuff people will not like cause of the pairing so be warned!
Anakin is not the most sound mind of people--even if he stays in the Light, he has a lot of Darkness in him. He's jealous, possessive, protective, attention whore, who could thrive off of just living from the attention of one to three people he loves alone. He wants, and wants hard, for those he adore to be around him at all times. Luke, as son or lover, is not immune to this. He gets the treatment the worse. Anakin is not about to share his beloved little starlight with anyone or anything. Luke belongs to him and him alone.
Luke is expected to call Anakin "Daddy" at all times. From the day to day, to any missions, to training, to when they have sex, Luke is expected to call him "Daddy".
If Luke calls him "Father", Anakin knows he done fucked up.
Anakin demands to carry Luke often. He loves how tiny Luke is (Anakin is 6'2 & Vaderkin would be 6'8...Luke is 5'6) and how easy it is to just hoist him up whenever he wants. It is a bit of a power-move, but also because Anakin is a massive cuddler. Who needs to hold those he cares about.
Luke is a sub and a bottom and not super aggressive. Anakin (for Luke; it's different if it's Obi-Wan, or a new fave of mine, Jango) is an aggressive dom top. He is going to push Luke around. It'll be gentle, but he is going get his way and get Luke dressed as he wants and eating what he wants...just needing to control and protect.. He isn't really doing it to be evil. He just doesn't trust anyone to look after Luke other than himself.
Anakin is obsessed over Luke. He has to know where he's at all the time. Needs to keep him controlled and focused and tied to Anakin alone. Of course, there is a Force bond there that Anakin will always know where Luke is no where to hide.
Luckily, Luke doesn't want to leave his father. He knows things were...off, if not wrong, but this was something he wanted. It made him happy. He was tired after everything and this was something that helped him.
Anakin switches between a very soft, seductive, gentle lover who provides lazy morning sessions of just rocking into Luke from the side, grasping his throat and nuzzling into his hair, whispering out adorations and affections, thanking him for being his. Luke reaching behind him to grip Anakin's hair, sighing out, "daddy." Other times, Anakin is a monster, who has the only purpose in life to fuck the sanity out of Luke. The blond is always, yelping out, "daddy, daddy, daddy" each time Anakin's hips hit him from behind.
Luke is just there to take the pleasure his father is there to give him. And he takes it happily.
Luke has meals in Daddy's lap. They bathe together. They nap together. Train together. everything is about the two of them together.
They are a dyad who are forever intertwined.

In the novel Clone Wars: Stories of the Light and Dark Obi-Wan's chapter retells the episode "The Lawless". While overall I found the book, while certainly not bad, missing a certain something and although some chapters really add to the corresponding episodes such as Rex' retelling of the Umbara arc, many are just very close retellings of the episodes. Now Kenobi's chapter was a mixed bag to me because some of it is really just an exact recount of the events of the episode, however, I found some additions made in regards to Maul interesting.
To no one's surprise there's a bit about Obi-Wan's almost hatred: "Hate was not the Jedi way. But for this man, Obi-Wan had grown weary of keeping it at bay."
Then we get confirmation that Maul is either just very perceptive, simply has Kenobi all figured out or is actually able to mindprobe even such thoroughly trained - albeit here clearly distraught - Jedi as Obi-Wan: "Maul seemed to sense his thoughts."
And of course we have Obi-Wan's reaction to Satine's death - which tbh made me all the more convinced that even though Obi-Wan might have crushed on her as a padawan, he is more fond of than in love sith her at this point -: "When Maul killed Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan was stricken with sorrow. Sorrow gripped him again. But there was something else, as well. Something dangerous. Something that scorched. Satine wasn't Maul's enemy. She was just a tool Maul had used to get something he wanted, the throne of Mandalore. And a tool to hurt Obi-Wan. Using a person that way was the worst form of cruelty. Satine had been a person, and her death wasn't just a loss for Obi-Wan. It was a loss for so many more. She'd been a child on this world. Like other children, she'd taken her first step, uttered her first word, laughed and chased flitters in the tall grass of the Mandalorian plains. She'd learned to read, made friends, suffered hurts, recovered and laughed again. And she'd become a leader. She should have lived to see her world thrive, to see her people find peace, to prosper, to make music and art. She should have grown old and been able to look back on all she'd achieved.
"But in a split second, Maul had ended all that. He'd extinguished a light in the universe and replaced it with shadow. Such an act was truly the definition of the dark side. And Obi-Wan burned with rage.
"With the rage came a vision: Eyes smoldering with hatred. Screams in the red glare of a lightsaber.
"Obi-Wan would cleave Maul in two. He would do much worse. There would be nothing left of him. Or the Dathomirian. Or the commandos, those Mandalorian traitors. He would kill them Almec. He would kill anyone who'd had a hand in overthrowing Satine, anyone who'd contributed to her death.
"And he would kill anyone who tried to stop him. Anyone who stood in his way, by word or by deed.
"Anyone.
"Maul laughed. "And now we see the true Obi-Wan Kenobi. The one he hides behind a mask of wit and charm. The one who yearns to be set free."
"And if Obi-Wan gave in to his desires, he'd be giving Maul exactly what he wanted."
So overall this just aligns with the episode. Although I do think Maul's additional taunt in this is so in character for him (and it'd be hilarious if it weren't for the entirety of the situation that Maul describes Obi-Wan as witty and charming). Although it's interesting just how close Obi-Wan came to falling. And ofc this passage really just hammers home the point that Maul wanted for Obi-Wan to fall to the dark side rather than wanting to kill him.
Anyways. The passage I've been dying to point out as an avid Obimaul shipper is the following:
"You can kill me, but you will never destroy me," Obi-Wan said, trying to keep his anger under control. "It takes strength to resist the dark side. Only the weak embrace it."
"It is more powerful than you know."
"And those who oppose it are more powerful than you'll ever be."
There was still a chance to turn this right. He could not overpower Maul, but maybe he could reach him. Maybe he could match Maul's fury, not with equal fury but with understanding. With sympathy. Maul had not always been this way. He'd had his future stolen from him. He'd been warped by the Force-wielders of Dathomir. He'd been groomed to become a creature of anger and vengeance who stood before Obi-Wan.
"I know where you're from," said Obi-Wan. "I've been to your village. I know the decision to join the dark side wasn't yours. I know the Nightsisters made it for you."
Obi-Wan cringed. The words had not come out as he'd intended. He'd wanted to extend a kindness that Maul perhaps never experienced. But he let his own anger and his own fear infect his words with venom."
And then the scene moves along as seen in the episode.
But phew. I feel like there is so much to unpack here. Obi-Wan trying to reach out for Maul is soooo good. I love that meeting anger with understanding and kindness is the Obimaul trope and this is pretty much that. It's interesting that Obi-Wan aknowledges that he couldn't strike the right tone.
Honestly all of this makes me yearn for the AU where he does reach Maul and maybe I'll even write it myself. Just Maul giving in and opening himself up to said kindness (although the staging might have to be different for that e.g. Maul visiting Obi-Wan in prison as an additional scene before he kills Satine).
This also made me reconsider the Siege of Mandalore. We all know, that Maul at that point of the story is not out to kill Kenobi. And honestly, considering that Maul is hyperaware of Kenobi's emotions in these scene and could possibly also have felt Obi-Wan's "kill 'em sith kindness" impulse, isn't it even more likely, that Maul wanted Kenobi to join him in robbing Sheev of his priced pupil Anakin but also killing Palpatine? I always thought Maul wanted to reveal Sidious to Kenobi and he only adapts his plan because it isn't Obi-Wan that arrives. But with this scene in mind, couldn't it possibly be, that Maul remembered that Obi-Wan once tried to reach out for him and wanted to extend the same gesture with the goal of overthrowing Palpatine? Whilst there is this short moment in "The Son of Dathomir" comic in which Maul and Dooku unite in fighting Kenobi, I feel like after Talzin was also killed by Palpatine Maul was kind of aimless - because in the comic he (unfortunately) has essentially moved from seeing himself as Sidious' tool to being Mother Talzin's tool (he even states the latter directly) - and nothing matters to him as much as overthrowing Sidious in that final arc, because he knows if not now then never. He has foreseen what Sidious and Vader will become and knows this is his last shot to truly hurt Palpatine in any way. And lastly Maul is certainly not that delusional that he'd think he can kill Kenobi and Skywalker alone (which is an interpretation I've seen and honestly just feels wrong at that point)
Essentially I am convinced that Maul wanted to form a sort of alliance with Obi-Wan to overthrow Sidious (The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that). Maul knows that Obi-Wan knows him better than anyone and I think at the very least he hoped he could convince Obi-Wan of the truth. Additionally Obi-Wan is the only being left in his life Maul has a connection to, who hasn't been killed by Sidious.
All I am saying is that I join the ranks of other anons and blogs as a huge Obimaul enabler.
Wow!! This was so informative and awesome. I don't have that book so I appreciate the run down A LOT! And will probably save this as reference point tbh.
I don't really have anything to add other than thank you for sharing with me, and that I think you absolutely should write an AU where Obi-Wan is able to reach Maul. How that would play out and what happens when they do is a delicious thought.

Fallen For Arrogance
Obi-Wan Kenobi x F!Reader (Padawan then Master)
Warnings : violence, angst, death
If you don't like "bad endings" in fics, don't read it, just a friendly advice
- - - - - -
Tumblr media
"I can feel that something is upsetting you, little one. What is it" asks your Master as he sits down on the chair next to you.
Your eyes unlock themselves from his as you find it easier to simply focus on the hot tea cup between your hands. Your previous mission had been... something, not to say a mess. Now that you are back in Obi-Wan's quarters you feel a bit more relaxed, but peace is not reigning in your mind.
"Well... I thought I would be better than this..." you reply before taking a sip from your cup, a guilty grin as you still avoid his curious eyes.
"You can't predict everything, just adapt to the predicament. To be honest I couldn't have predicted half of what happened" he says before sighing. "And I don't even think you could have done better than this. You saved me" he says with a chuckle that soothes you enough to share some details.
"Master... it's technically true... but I have never been this... violent before".
As the only answer you receive from him is a thoughtful hum, you keep talking, once again averting your eyes from his. You feel him focusing more on you, the Force never lies.
"At some point... when I was still trying to locate you, I have to admit that I felt impressed with myself as I was getting rid off my opponents. I don't want to show off or anything, but... it was a weird feeling. And it only made me stronger. Wanting to eliminate everyone" you end whispering.
This time you lock your gaze with his, his features giving up his skepticism.
"You know... there is nothing wrong with being proud of yourself. You will be a Jedi Master soon. You have been improving a lot throughout the years" he begins, and he gently grabs your forearm on the table as you are about to interrupt him. "If you feel guilty because of it, then it is that you know you shouldn't fall into arrogance. This could be one of the worst weaknesses you could have."
You nod, uneasiness coming back as soon as you look down at his hand. But you have to say it. Feeling the threat of a lump forming in your throat that would mute you, you inhale deeply before saying what is really bothering you.
"Master I... I thought you were dead. I felt... anger. Rage. Isn't it... something... I mean, it's normal in a way but... with this arrogance, this feeling of superiority over our targets..."
His grip tightens a little, and his eyes full of compassion gets closer to yours as he leans towards you.
"Little one. Our mission is a success, you even saved me without any help. You know it is wrong to feel this superiority and anger. You are a good Padawan, you want the best and you deserve it. You still need to learn. We never stop learning from everyone and everything, even at unexpected moments" he says with confidence and a comforting grin that makes you smile. "These are good doubts. The ones that every Jedi ask themselves at least once in their life. You respect the Code perfectly, getting conscious of some of your limits. There is nothing wrong with it. And look at this, you are drinking a tea with me, isn't it the proof that everything is fine ?"
You laugh at this, your heart suddenly lighter as he releases your forearm with this playful brightness in his eyes. He is right. Your Master is always right after all.
But this dark feeling of superiority doesn't disappear during your fights. It is more than satisfaction. More than just pride of having claimed victory. It is... sweet and hot in your veins when you look around you, seeing droids limbs everywhere around you. But you are conscious of it, so there is nothing wrong. Same when you feel the same way in the middle of mercenaries. Nothing wrong. Then why can you feel this worry in your Master's aura when you begin to ramble about how satisfying it is to clean the area ? Sometimes he jokes as well after all.
Another mission goes wrong. You are stuck in some small cave after your ship crash landed after an ambush. Even while trying to sleep frustration and anger seem to make your blood boiling. Meditation is impossible. It is too cold here and sometimes powerful cracks echo as huge amount of ice fall from the cliffs. The wind is freezing. You hate this planet. You hate the bounty hunters who attacked you. You should be harder towards yourself to improve and reach a better level and...
... your thoughts stop buzzing as your Master takes his place besides you, sighing.
"Nobody will see us here. This cave is impossible to find as we don't have any fire. And I don't plan to die from hypothermia" he mumbles as you feel him pressing against you under the covers.
Your heart aches at this, and you turn to see his profile as he looks up at the ceiling. His now familiar frown is there, digging his features. You are not naïve. He can feel the darkness expending, you are sure. He always tries to get closer to you when anger takes over your heart and thoughts.
Thankful, you snuggle against him with a different shyness from the previous years. Before it was proximity with anyone that made you feel awkward. But now it is like you share a secret that could bring serious problems. Darkness... something you despised, yet admire now. No, not admire... respect. Forbidden, taboo, but infectious and fascinating. You smile against him as he snakes an arm around your waist, bringing you closer to his own warmth. You also like this. You love this. You don't say it of course. You would kill to protect this man, even if it involves another Jedi. Even a Master. This man deserves better than the Code. Why should attachment been prohibited ? Why would farmers with a family, or merchants or diplomats, be considered as weaker because of attachment ? They seem happy. They are there to help each other after all.
A few months later you are a Master yourself. This makes you more aware of the dangerous game playing with your mind and you have a Padawan to take care of. Obi-Wan is proud of you, you feel it during the rare occasions you can talk.
"Little one ? Where have you learned this ?"
You smile at his question, your cockiness exploding at his amazed voice. Obi-Wan, amazed. Wonderful.
"A lot of practice. Don't tell me you will be jealous when my Padawan will be able to do this as well ?"
He scoffs before coming closer, avoiding some droids crushed to the ground. You like it when his eyes shine so much.
"I am... I am not jealous. Just... I would like you to teach me" he asks with a genuine enthusiasm that makes your cheeks burn. "Of course, if you are not busy stealing my own missions" he taunts with a raised eyebrow, evoking the two times you managed to cross his path without even knowing it.
"You know what ? You can admit that you are pleased to see me falling from the sky, saving your Padawan and you from whatever is threatening you."
"Of course I am pleased to see you, who wouldn't ? But I..."
You are interrupted by another group of enemies and once again, this is a success.
But several months later you are lost. You look at him in the eyes as his fingers run through your hair, tears falling from his cheeks.
"It is not too late little one..." he whispers as you try to breath normally, your previous rage replaced by regrets. "... stay with me. I can't... I can't leave you like this... It's impossible. I have been so blind."
He can kill you if he wants to but he doesn't. He holds you closer to him, refusing to make you leave this world. He has to kill you. It's the only solution.
"Obi-Wan... just... just do it, you need..."
Your former Master just whimpers against your neck, refusing and his body shaking. Your wounds hurt so much. The physical ones of course, but... you feel something stronger that has been darkening your heart throughout all these years.
What have you done ? Betrayal. You betrayed everyone. The Jedi. Your Master. Your Padawan. Yourself.
His grip tightens even more as you feel his kiss on your forehead. You, you can't snuggle closer anymore, you are not strong enough, too much of your blood on the ground among the Jedi you killed. You dreamt of power. You did, yes, you are guilty. But is it wrong to have been dreaming of love ? You never loved anyone except Obi-Wan. The only one. You admitted it before the Council. Master Windu humiliated you. You felt the confusion in your former Master's heart and mind. You left Coruscant thinking that distance would be the solution, but no. There was no solution.
Power. This is how you tried to cope. A dream abandoned for another one, both of them leaving you orphan. And here you are. Laying on the ground, now too weak to even kiss the man you still love. Weaker and weaker. He is the one kissing your lips, uniting them for the first time, welcoming your last breath as life leaves your body.

Sorry if you wanted a happy ending but I was in a mood for angst, I am guilty.
Please like, comment and reblog if you liked it ! :)

(( To many to tag so just gonna tag Main: @centralcitysfinest-rp ))
Standing in the Science Lab of the Waverider, Candice debated on what music to put on while she worked. Just as she was about to ask Gideon for some music, a screen near by flicked to life. Looking over at the screen she immediately recognized the man looking at her.
"Gary, to what do I owe the pleasure? I thought our usual D&D game was postponed for this week, or did I miss it? Time gets confusing." Candice said.
"No this isn't about that Candice. At least not this time around. Besides you threw off the whole campaign last session." Gary commented.
"Huh.. almost like when you sent the Legends off in 1980 London." Candice quipped back. Gary adjusted how glasses and gave an awkward chough.
"Right, well anyway I actually called for a reason. Some coincidence that I happen to call you alone in the science lab right?" He said.
"Little creepy when you put it that way." She said watching him. "You do know that if you're creeping up behind me I have no problem torching your ass right?" Candice said.
"I'm not on the Waverider, at least not yet. See the thing is, we actually need you here at the Time Bureau. See we've noticed the Legends have become rather... Well crowded..." Gary said.
"Still not liking where this is going Gary." Candice said as she watched him. Though she did have to admit, he was a bit right, the Legends were crowded on the Waverider.
"Well the thing is in order to help build bridges between the Legends and the Time Bureau, some of you will be working here, present day Central City. You'll be paid, and of course given normal hours. Sort of a nine to five kind of job." He said with a smile as he explained.
"That sounds so corporate. You do know that I like the Waverider for a lot of reasons." She retorted as she grabbed a nearby piece of tech to work on.
"Candice, we're inviting you to help the Time Bureau with tech." Gary said. Looking over she gave a small curious glance.
"Go on." She commented as she watched him.
"We've noticed the stuff you've made. That pistol alone is closer to Rip's pistol than anything our techs could come up with. Plus our time couriers could use some upgrades. You'll get to take them apart." Gary said.
"Fisrt off the Tesla Pistol is a divergent of Rip's pistol, second you're going to allow me to take apart a time courier so I can upgrade them?" She asked.
Tumblr media
"Among building weapons and tech. You'll also be responsible for keeping track of the time map. Might of been thanks to a certain dm explaining how well you kept track of events in our D&D game." Gary boasted.
"Really Gary? You used our D&D game to help convince Ava into giving me access to all of that?" Candice asked.
"Possibly." He replied. Letting out a sigh she looked around the lab. "You still want to stay I know. Candice we need you here. Please help the Time Bureau, your our only hope." Gary said.
"You're not gonna Princesses Leia me. I'm not your Obi-Wan." She said with a sigh. "Look if I'm going to join the Time Bureau, there are a lot of things I need." Candice said.
"A list of demands? Candice I can't promise you will get what you want." Gary said. "I mean if it were up to me I would probably say yes." He added.
"That's cause you're a push over Gary. They aren't demands, you already won me over with the time courier. This is a list of things I need in order to work, and possibly to help whoever else is on my team. Wait who is on the team besides me?" Candice asked as she got sidetracked from her own train of thought.
"Well... Let's see, Rip Hunter will be the leader naturally, You as the team technician, Leo Rivera and Leo Snart as the Field Agents, and someone named Terry McGinnis as a Field Agent and History Consultant." Gary explained.
Candice let out a soft giggle at the fact that the team had two Leos. "Ah yes Team Leo, where you don't know who is who." She joked.
"Candice this is a serious list." Gary said as Candice laughed a bit. "Fia! Focus please!" He said trying to get her to focus.
"I'm sorry Gary, but you have to admit Leo and Leo on the same team is so stupid and funny." She said. Gary let out a sigh as Candice calmed down a bit.
"You had a list of demands you were going to make." Gary said. Candice rolled her eyes as she looked back at the screen.
"Not demands, requests. I need my own lab to work in. Not a small crammed room, I need space to work on multiple projects at once." She explained.
"I think that will get approved, I mean that just seems like a no brainier, but you do know that we won't be able to give you anything to big." Gary said.
"Yeah I know, still nice to have room to spread out. Also this is more for the team than just me, we need a meeting room, something kind of like the study on the Waverider, actually it might be better if I just worked up a floor plan." Candice said.
"This is starting to sound like its own building Candice. Pretty sure we can't get that approved." Gary said.
Tumblr media
"Trust me it won't be as bad as you're thinking. Just wait til you see the floor plan. In any case, I am going to need to be allowed to play music while I work. Nothing worse than being bored while working on a project." She said with a groan.
"I'll run it by Director Sharp." Gary said. "Is that all?" He asked.
"Let's see, meeting room, personal science lab, kitchen, library, relaxation room, bathrooms, ability to play music, I think that about covers it." Candice said. "I will miss Gideon though, and the others...." She added with a sigh.
"We can see if there is a way for you to keep in contact with Gideon and the others Candice. If you draft up a floor plan I will see what I can do about making it a reality." Gary said.
"I guess I should pack up my room. Well what little stuff I have here on the Waverider." She commented. Letting out a sigh she looked back at the screen. Candice could feel her heart sink a bit, she loved the Waverider and the adventure that came with it.
"I uh... I guess we'll contact you... At the very least I have your number from when we started playing D&D together." Gary said. Candice gave him a nod before the screen turned off.
Looking around, Candice grabbed a few of her items before heading off to her shared room with Zari. Peeking her head in, she didn't see the other woman. "Guess that makes this easier." She said to herself.
Walking away Candice got Gideon to make her a box to store her stuff in. Packing up what little she had, few extra clothes, couple of books, as well as some tech she had built in the science lab, she set off to leave the Waverider.
"Guess this is bye for now Gideon." Candice said as she stood at the cargo door.
"For now Ms. Reeves, but I am sure we will talk again soon." Gideon replied.
"I know, but some dumb science lab at the Time Bureau is nothing like the Waverider. I just... I don't know felt more at home here." Candice said.
"I know Ms. Reeves." Gideon said. Giving the frame of the doorway a light punch tap, she looked up at the com.
"Guess I will see you around Gideon." Candice said as the Cargo door open. Turning away, Candice left the Waverider. As she walked away, she gave one last glance before watching the ship vanish into thin air as the stealth plates hid the ship from sight.
Giving it a moment of thought, Candice didn't want to head home cause she didn't want to potentially wake Charlie, and heading to S.T.A.R. Labs would be kind of creepy without Cisco being around.
Digging into her pocket she pulled out her breeching device. Pressing the button a portal opened and she jumped through. There was no harm in heading home for a small bit, besides at this moment, Candice kind of wanted to be around her parents.
Jumping through the portal she landed in the near identical spot on her Earth. Taking a deep breath, she looked around to make sure no one had seen her. "Now to head home." She said as she pocketed the breeching device.
Walking into her parents house, she closed the door quietly. Setting the box of stuff down as she walked in, she noticed some lights on. "Hello?" She called out.
"Candice? What are you doing home?" A female voice called from the kitchen. Candice walked in and gave her mom a small smile. "Sweetie, you were just here not to long ago, aren't the Legends going to be upset with you for taking so many vacations?" Her mother asked.
"Yeah this is just for a little while, not a full vacation like last time. Where's dad?" Candice asked as she took a seat at the kitchen table.
"He's working late, but he should be home soon. So. What is wrong dear? The girl you like reject you?" Candice's mom asked.
"Mom!" Candice said like a teenager that was embarrassed. "I just.. I'd rather not talk about that right this moment." Candice said.
"Oh sweetie, come here let me give you a hug." Her mom said as she walked around to hug Candice.
"Ah gross! Mom hugs!" Candice joked as she hugged her mom.
"So what is wrong. Something is up I know it. If it isn't the girl, then it's your new team." Her mom said as she walked over to the fridge.
"Yeah. I'm going to be on a new new team. Still the Legends, but working for this group called The Time Bureau." Candice explained.
Tumblr media
"Yet you're not happy with the job are you?" Her mom asked. "Aren't they the ones that trapped you in London?" Her mom asked. Candice gave a nod of confirmation. "So why are you working for them instead of being on the ship?" Her mom asked.
"It's a new way to alleviate the crowdedness of the Waverider as well as build bridges with the Time Bureau. I get to be head tech girl for the team, and helping outfit the Bureau with new stuff." Candice explained.
"I get to do a lot of cool stuff for the bureau. I get to take apart some of their closely guarded tech to help improve it and I get my own lab which is nice since I've always been sharing it with someone. However the Waverider afforded me visits to the unknown and being stuck in the present is going to be boring." Candice said.
"It sounds like a more stable job though. One that would afford you more time with that woman you were telling me about last time." Her mom said with a small smile.
"I know and I can go back to volunteering at the hospital for the kids, I missed that while zooming around on the Waverider." Candice said.
The front door opened and a small sound of someone almost tripping came from the main hall. "Lonnie! Why is there a box of crap in the hallway?" A man's voice called out.
"Ted! That isn't a box of crap, that is Candice's stuff." Her mom called back. Though she did give Candice a parental glare at leaving stuff in the hallway.
"Sorry Dad! I thought you were home when I set that stuff down." Candice called out.
"What are you doing home?" He called out as he closed the door.
"Just needed a place for the night. I'll be back on Earth-1 in the morning." Candice called out. "Here let me come move my stuff before you trip again." Candice said as she got up from the table.
Tumblr media
Heading into the hallway, she smiled as she saw her dad. Wrapping her arms around him, it was clear that she caught him off guard. The man gave a soft chuckle before hugging her back.
"Everything okay Candice? This is twice in what? A few weeks?" He asked as Candice pulled away from the hug.
"Yeah, but like I said I'm heading back in the morning, just needed a place to stay for the night, and all my Earth-1 places were just not where I needed to be for tonight." She explained as she grabbed her box of stuff.
"Alright pumpkin, what happened?" He asked her.
"Just got transferred from adventure to a lab. That's all. Mom knows more gonna go put this in my room." Candice said as she headed upstairs.
"Wash up while you're up there! Dinner will be ready in a bit." Her mom called out as she reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Ugh! The worst!" Candice jokingly called back. Reaching her room, she placed the box on her bed before heading to clean up. She didn't really need to eat, but Candice wasn't going to pass up her mom's cooking.
Heading back downstairs she smiled at her parents. "I'd say I'm starving, but I don't lie." Candice joked. Her mom rolled her eyes a bit.
"Doesn't stop you from eating." Her dad joked.
"Look even a nuclear reactor needs fuel and mom does cook some really good food." Candice said.
Her mom slid a plate in front of Candice with a smile. "I caught your dad up on everything." Her mom said.
"So... I have to ask, what is so bad about the Time Bureau?" Her dad asked.
"Well one they have hated the Legends for a while, even getting us stuck in 1980 London for a short time. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm going to go join the Time Bureau branch, but I'm going to miss being able to zip around time." Candice explained.
"You know you didn't used to need time travel to have adventures Candice." Her mom said.
"Yeah well that is cause I worked with the Flash, got kicked off the team, help stop Reverse Flash, sealed up the world ending breech, came back and helped stop Godspeed." Candice explained. "Even then between vanishing and showing back up I was in a new Earth and learning new things." She added.
"Sweetie, you can always learn new things from a stable job like the one at the Time Bureau." Her mom said.
"I know Mom, it's just... I don't know saving time was fun and different. It was learning more about Earth-1 from actual history instead of reading about it in books." Candice said.
"What's wrong with book?" Her dad interjected.
"Nothing dad. It's just what is better, reading history written by the winner of an event, or living through that event in real time?" She asked.
"Fair point, but still I'm sure there is plenty for you to learn from in books." Her dad said.
"I know dad, just I'm going to miss it is all." Candice said.
"There feels like more you're not telling us." Her mom said.
"The Waverider, and the Legends felt like home away from home. We we're all a bunch of people who didn't fit anywhere and oddly enough fit together like a big weird family." Candice explained.
"And you feel like you're loosing that family by being at the Bureau." Her mom commented.
"Yeah.. a bit.. plus the ship has an A.I. named Gideon and I'm going to miss having her around. I asked the Time Bureau if there would be a way for me to keep in contact with Gideon, but stuff has to be approved and what not so I gave them a list of requests." Candice said.
"Please don't tell me you demanded stuff just cause you hate the group." Her mom said with a sigh.
"Mom! I said requests not demands. I plan on working there I just need some things in order to be efficient, my own space to work of stuff hence my own lab to build and tinker with and the ability to play music while I work." Candice said.
"Music can distract you Candice." Her mom said with a sigh. "Don't expect them to hand over that kind of stuff, they are going to have to justify allowing you that kind of freedom. If it comes down to it they might find someone else." Her mom explained.
"Mom, they need me the Legends can make due, Zari is really good at tech for the Waverider, but I built the Tesla gun after getting a glance of Rip's pistol and my speed force knowledge of how to throw lightning. That kind of engineering skills is not something they are just going to avoid just because I asked for some music and my own space to work." Candice said.
"I hope you're right sweetie, I'd hate for you to not get that job." Her mom said. The rest of the meal, they talked about mindless stuff, how things were since she was last there a week ago.
Once they were finished eating, her dad headed off to bed while Candice stayed and helped her mom clean the dishes. "Candice, are you sure you're alright with the job change?" Her mom asked.
"I mean we've already talked about this, I'm having to leave my family for some corporate job." Candice said. Her mom gave a small chuckle at her.
"It's not going to be a corporate job like you say it is dear. If they truly want you to be the head technician of this new team, it sounds like they hold you in high regards. I know another man that wanted to hire you for a corporate job as well." Her mom commented.
"Yeah, but Wells was impressed by my frozen spiders." Candice said with a smile.
"Please don't remind me of those. Do you know how many times I nearly put them in one of my drinks." Her mom said. "And do not get me started on that pet scorpion you had." She added.
"Look you guys bought me the scorpion, not my fault dad got spooked as smashed him with a hammer." Candice said.
"You left him out of his cage. Of course your father freaked out." Her mom said.
"I know, I just left him for a few seconds so I could go to the bathroom. I didn't really he would of traveled so far." She said. "Though I do have to say I was rather impressed by the scream dad let out." Candice said with an amused smile.
"You're dad couldn't speak for a week cause he damaged his vocal cords." Her mom pointed out.
"I know, and I helped be his voice at work that week remember, you guys pulled me out of school so I could help him." Candice said.
"You know, your dad and I worry about you." Her mom said as she dried off her hands.
"I know Mom, I'm okay I promise. I'm still working on the Multiverse phone thing, that way we can stay in contact more often, but it's been challenging getting it to work. Needs more tests and stuff." Candice explained.
Her mom smiled at her and handed over the hand towel. Candice took them and dried off her hands. "Go get some sleep, you have somewhere to be in the morning." Her mom said.
"Mom..." Candice said with a pouting lip. Her mom stared her down and Candice smiled at her. Wrapping her arms around her mom she let out a content sigh. "I love you." She said before heading up to bed.
Her mom smiled at her and returned the words before heading to bed herself. In the morning, Candice grabbed her box of stuff and headed downstairs. She said her goodbyes to her parents before heading out to find a hidden place to breech.
Jumping through the portal, Candice was once more met with the sounds of Earth-1. Letting out a sigh, she headed home to her place, at least long enough to set down the box of stuff. She couldn't lug that around all day.

Also, in the rots book, there's a line from anakin's inner monologue that goes:
"the dragon reminds him, every night, that someday he will lose Obi-Wan. He will lose Padmé. Or they will lose him."
It's not just about him being anguished just by the thought of losing the people he loves, but also he worries about what anguish the people who love him will go through when he's gone. I don't think this is selfish of him. I, at least, have often been afraid of the same thing.
Granted, Anakin doesn't keep Padmé aware at all of anything he's doing in order to save her, and he should have. It's selfish because he doesn't share it with her, she's not allowed of being an active part in her own saving, but I think it starts as selfish in a very unaware way. Because Anakin isn't keeping this a secret for nothing; i really believe he's doing it, firstly, because he's trying to make her not worry. That everything is under control and she's going to be fine. And secondly, because Anakin is used on doing things on his own. Even with Obi-Wan around, Anakin acts solo, all the time: he doesn't confide in him, he doesn't approach him. It's a learned thing for him: if you want something fixed, you have to do it on your own. And he follows that like a mantra.
Clearly it does become truly selfish when he stops thinking about her, and just wants power for himself. He still shields all criticism by repeating to himself and to Padmé that he's doing it for her, but it's not true anymore. But the consideration that Anakin's love for people is always selfish I think is wrong and frankly really unfair, because, mind you, that, and only that, is what saved Luke. It's how Anakin's love for these people gets twisted by his desire for power that makes it turn into selfish love, if there's actually something like that.
i am so sick of the “anakin was selfish for not wanting padme to die” rhetoric i just saw something saying his love for her was selfish because he only cared about his own needs and not her best interests like uhhhh i don’t know, i feel like trying to prevent her from dying at age 27 when she has her whole life ahead of her is indeed in her best interests, maybe i’m just crazy

#it's also been interesting writing so far because i don't want to imply that one character is wrong or not#like obi-wan isn't wrong to not want to share anything#but anakin isn't wrong to want more and to be worried about obi-wan's health#i dont think the projection of the story ends with obi-wan constantly volunteering information without being asked#because that doesn't feel like him#and it's ok to just not be that sort of person#it will involve them opening up clearer communications though#because that's healthy#but it's been a lot of thinking about ok#we don't want to magically change these two characters#or imply that to have a healthy relationship you have to fundamentally change yourself#but more like#if two people really want to be together because they're fucking insane about each other#how can we have that happen in the most healthiest way#etc etc#though to be clear i don't think they'll ever be completely healthy#like that would be a wittle bit boring in the end#but they'll be like. much better#started from the bottom now we're at 68 out of 100 on the healthiness scale#good job boys lets hit the showers (via @tennessoui)
