I’m Gonna Win: I HAVE AN ANIMATIC TO THST SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD AND IT WILL NEVER GET OUTTTTTTTTTT (also just listen to that banger. It may not be a tango but it’s so Taco)

Unsweetened Lemonade uses lemons as a metaphor for an ‘unpalatable’ personality, which I think fits Taco pretty well. Also the speaker’s driving force is her goals (“it’s easier to focus on the prize above my head” and “I’d do anything for twenty bucks”) which I think aligns really well with Taco’s worldview and ambitions. At least, mid-S2

Candle Queen is more of a between-S1-and-S2 Taco song. Describing her fall from grace in a bouncy swing tune I think she would fancy.

I'm throwing this out here because I popped off with this art really hard and really liked how it came out

I swearrrrr that I'll go into this in more detail with proper art and maybe an animatic but as quick as an explanation I can muster, at around the au's version of mid-season two (in between any sport in a storm and reaching out) Pip does end up having to leave the Owl House gang because Hunter finally managed to capture him completely by surprise because Pip let his guard down to who he just assumed was only Willow's and Gus's new flyer derby friend.

When Pip finally reaches the castle he stays there for a while to scope out the place and figure out a full proof escape route but he ends up caught in between a rock and a hard place before he could even think of a plan because he finds out that Eda is set to be put to be captured and petrified for the false crime of kidnapping the heir.

This causes Pip who's already extremely traumatised from the first petrification attempt and doesn't want to see Eda hurt again attempts to completely avoid that by striking up a deal with Belos.

This sort of works but it isn't in Pips favour at all because Belos had decided to pardon Eda (only to keep Pip from escaping again though), Pip can no longer even be out of Hunters sight or go out of the castle without Hunter's or a scouts supervision and if Eda approaches again she will be put to be petrifed immediately

So the deal goes completely out the window the moment that Eda finds out that one of her kids got kidnapped and so she and Luz (she wasn't supposed to join along but couldn't take no for an answer) busts into the castle to steal Pip right back.... which ends terribly to say the least.

Even though things went well at first, they do manage to almost escape with Pip until Belos who's at this point kinda done with his clone running away all the time decides to intervene personally rather than sending out the scouts

Eda goes full mother owl mode and does end up fighting Belos which I can imagine was a pretty epic battle

no idea who was winning until the end of the fight but one things for certain is that it goes completely south for Eda towards because Luz and Pip end up in the crossfire, Pip gets hurt badly and almost loses his eye (hence the gnarly scar across his face in the drawing) because he pushed Luz out of the away from a magic spike growing from the ground, so Eda gets distracted and petrified.

Before Eda fully becomes stone she makes both of them promise to escape, thanks them and asks them to take care of themselves, Hooty and King for her... Neither Luz or Pip handle this well but don't have enough time to even properly processes and so Pip who's slightly more functional than Luz who's completely dissociating at this point quickly grabs Luz and escapes on Owlbert but Pip gets yoinked by Belos mid way and Luz ends up escaping by herself.......

At this point Pip is planning on committing regicide and is only stopped because he ends up forcibly having to drink that brainwash juice before he could do anything

Brainwashed Pip mostly can't remember what's that's happened to him except for a few fake memories that got implanted in that paints wild witches in a really bad light and so after being explained a obviously completely untrue story by Belos he believes that he's suffering huge memory loss because he was brainwashed by wild witches and that magic is fading away.

Pip also just loses most of his personality except for his sense of justice which gets extremely twisted, he just becomes extremely detached and cold as well (but he does thaw slightly with specific people but doesn't understand why *coughs* ᴺᶦᵐᵇᵘˢ *coughs even harder* ᵗʰᵉ ᵖᵒʷᵉʳ ᵒᶠ ᵍᵃʸ ᶦˢ ᵗᵒᵒ ˢᵗʳᵒⁿᵍ.)

i am itching to ramble about my ocs (you person who sent an ask you know who you are I am working on that ask but I'm gonna. Rewatch some movies first. For research.)

the need to ramble is so bad so I'm just gonna start rambling. ABOUT THEIR VOICES!! because I don't have any voice claims that feel super accurate and have been thinking about their voices a lot. The default accent is to be determined as I'm still deciding on where exactly Escapism takes place,, sorry about that

Aster has a deep voice that's bit raspy from forgetting to drink water. She usually speaks very softly so you have to really pay attention to hear what she's saying because if you ask her to repeat herself she'll probably get self conscious and say "nevermind." She thinks long and hard about what she's going to say and likes speaking Poetically™. Her laugh is relatively bubbly and light compared to her regular voice.

Beatrice has what I can best describe as an alto voice; feminine but on the lower side. She talks really fast and has a tendency to ramble and start trailing off so it can be hard to understand her sometimes. When she's REALLY emotional or passionate about something (or drunk) her east Yorkshire accent slips through. Her laugh is hearty and loud.

Charles sounds like Gaius Baltar. He's the exception to the no voice claims statement. He just sounds like Gaius Baltar,, sen will disagree with me,, sorry man. if he's not actively putting up his Respectable Young Man persona his voice pitch goes all over the place and gets rapidly higher the more excited/passionate/panicky he gets. He has a very handsome laugh, I'm sorry to say. (If you don't know what Gaius sounds like, worry not as I plan on making a quick animatic with a single voice line of his that is VERY Charles-coded soon-ish.)

Grace has a soft, slightly high-pitched voice, and speaks in a floaty, almost whispery tone. Her tone only really changes when she's irritated; her voice becomes stronger and her words more pronounced. When she laughs she snorts a lot which contrasts her base princess-y voice.

Eli has a mid-range masculine voice and speaks clearly and deliberately. He's careful not to be too loud, worried about standing out too much. His laugh is equally average as his voice.

Martha is hard to describe because I imagine her with my voice,, and similarly to me her pitch goes all over the place,, but I'll try my best! Her base tone is alto-ish. She tries her best to enunciate and not talk too fast, but she tends to be rambly and mumble a lot. Like I said her pitch (and volume) goes ALLL over the place depending on what she's talking about or how she's feeling. Her laugh is very breathy and a tad high-pitched.

Linktober Day 6

Mask(s)

Soft and sweet with just a hint of melancholic because 1.I'm tired and probably need a nap father than coffee, 2.I actually managed to make a pretty good mocha and the Anchorage LOZ animatic came onto my playlist before writing this and it kind of influenced my mood, and 3. I'm saving the usual Majora's Mask flare of angst for another prompt because I was having way too much fun dissecting the tragedy of the Hero of Time before sleep deprivation snatched the idea away which is usually my sign to pass the heck out and save the second option for when I have more energy lol.

For the Warriors fans, also Warriors is a disaster of an older sibling but we adore and appreciate him for it in this household, as always can be implied romantic or platonic between him and reader.

You were all but pinned down to the ground, brought down more effectively and unable to find the strength to get up.

Well, not literally, there were no enemies nearby, the chaos at camp had long since died down and there wasn’t anything much to do now that night had fallen, the heavens deigning to put all of it’s glittering jewels on display.

Were it any other day you’d probably focus more on appreciating it in full, the fire was crackling merrily, you were safe and had a full stomach and even with the ever present threat of the Shadow possibly deciding to ambush you all while most of your guards were down, you had your boys with you and the crisp autumn petrichor was a balm on your soul, weary from the journey.

Maybe it would be fine to rest for a little while.

And then the small figure clinging to you flinched, burrowing closer and holding onto your tunic like a lifeline. And awareness came to you like a smack over the head with a log, your fingers gently carding through blond locks as you hum gently. Weighting options and just how quietly you could move without bothering the precious Sprite at your side.

You had guessed Time had been a sweet kid, and you still wanted to lodge a formal complaint with the gods for writing such cruel fate for him because the man couldn’t catch a break and you’re not the only one to take it personally. But he was killing you here, this is how you die, with an adorable but oh so heartbreakingly sad little boy having fallen asleep leaning against you after telling you all sorts of stories about his extensive mask collection.

Sighing, you decide to compromise, gently keeping the Kokiri boy right where he is, fast asleep and with barely any nightmares as you hum and card your fingers through the spun gold strands, you brush your fingers through the last masks he fell asleep mid through telling the story of how he’d acquired. If you were careful surely you’d be able to reach his pack on his side so he wouldn’t worry later.

A pair of brown boots invade your vision, Warriors crouches down. You think you spot a flash of surprise on his eyes as he spots Mask napping on you, and then fond amusement of a big brother you knew he directed often towards Wind, tone low, “Well would you look at that, out like a light. It’s a rare honor for him to trust anyone like this.”

You chuckle a bit, shaking your head, “I can tell, he’s a good kid. I’ve barely met him for a day and I’d already take on an army for him.”

“Welcome to my world.”, comes Warriors dry response, though you both knew he was a hundred percent serious, his own mask quickly falling away as he gently picked up the Deku Sprout Mask to put it back in the small sprite’s pouch, hiding it’s confused, fearful sadness from your gaze (and it’s an effort, not to twitch, as your rage towards Majora gained even more kindling to burn) as the soldier handled it with the due solemnity of being one of the few Mask would allow to even touch the masks without his immediate supervision, “... I never thought I’d see him again, as...”

“I know.” Your tone was quiet, as you carefully picked your choice of words.

If there’s one thing you knew about any Link, is that they’re all really good elder brother’s and that they are too hard on themselves. Warriors specially, Mask and Wind were his everything, there wouldn’t be words that could describe how gutted he was, after confirming his suspicions with you, regretting not saying anything against Mask joining the battle field back then, loathing himself for not convincing him or Lana into letting him stay in spite of his bad feeling that as soon as the young hero of time passed through that portal he was unlikely to ever meet him again.

... You settle for something simple, instead, reaching a hand to softly pat his head, taking care not to mess his hair too much, “You did good, Wars, it’s not your fault. Mask also knows you did your best.”

He still, sighing, the mask falling away as he guides your hand to his lips, quietly thankful (really, like big brother like little brother, your wonderful, silly, caring boys. You make a point to cheerfully bat away the butterflies in your stomach, ), “... Feels hard to believe that, some times. Thank you.”

You hum, after putting the Zora mask away, Warriors takes Mask’s other side, pulls you closer and breathes.

(Just in case, he lies to himself.)

You quietly listen to his stories about his little brother, and Warriors is content.

literally never noticed bephelgors horns before. went back to watch clips of mastermind and they really do just completely disappear in the middle of a shot where she's the main focus, huh

honestly i feel like the show is usually pretty good at maintaining all the fiddly little details (visual consistency aside, looking at you leviathan, it's rude to rapidly extend and shorten your necks at the dinnertable) so it was really bizarre to me that bephelgor has so many errors in the very short time she appears on screen. the only 2 times her horns are shown they manifest mid-shot, in one case they only appear for a few seconds before disappearing again lol

this isn't super related, and obviously i don't know about the process since i've never worked on something like this, but it was really strange to me bephelgor/leviathan's designs hadn't been nailed down during the animatic process. makes me really curious how much time goes into these designs and what the reference sheets may look like

ive had this idea floating around in my head that could probably be a fanfic?? like idk ive been thinking of making this into a fan made “episode” script but in case i dont do anything with it i wanna share it rn cuz its been in my noggin since a week ago!!! aa!!!

at first this just started as an animatic idea of a chase scene between red and chuck but then i tried to elaborate on it all. ive been curious as to how they would interact, so im gonna make them for like 1 minute BUT UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES? one mission, assigned to red. Kane has been studying the burners one by one, and there was one who caught his eye.. chuck. he seems to be the closest to mike, literally riding shotgun with him IN HIS CAR in almost every battle so far, and he was the one who managed to hack into kane’s warpod that one day along with being the boy responsible for shutting down a kmg MID AIR. the boy is smart; he might know a thing or two. both about precision, and most importantly.. chilton.

kane (or actually the r&d department lol) has a little gift prepared for him. all they need is the actual boy to give it to. the thing is, he’s never seen alone.. they need him by himself. this is a special mission, one that requires stealth and speed, so who better to send to get the job done than red? he’s beat mike down almost twice, and even captured him once with a bit of help. here’s the plan: lure the burners out of their lil junkyard with kane bots, follow them from a close distance & use chuck’s “gift” to disrupt surrounding power sources (INCLUDING the burner cars engines) which should result in them crashing near a foggy area, and snag chuck.

the burners get out to investigate their engines.. they’ve been shut down. but from what?? their car hoods were completely shut- SURPRISE!! red takes chuck away into the fog!! o noes!! (insert chase scene with chuck lol) once he’s in red’s hands, he literally plugs kane’s surprise gift into chuck’s back, attaching itself to him and to his nerves like a parasite. the extending wires almost glow through his skin as they enter his body.. compressing his current memories and sending commands to his brain. chuck’s struggling was getting weaker by the minute as more commands began to take over his brain. he would now be used as a weapon against chilton once an for all.

First impression: The first time I watched an animatic with Veth in it I was smitten. Her voice? Her chaotic vibes? Instant favourite.

Impression now: Veth is my number one favourite CR character of all time. I've talked about her a lot on my blog lol but I just absolutely adore the way Sam plays her. She's hilarious. She has so much depth. She's a mom, she's a best friend, she's barely twenty years old. She's married, she's horny, she doesn't know how to choose between the life of an adventurer and the life of a housewife. She's in love with her best friend. She's in love with her husband. She's a little goblin girl. She's a halfling woman. She makes explosives. She's a proud member of the Chaos Crew. She's an alcoholic. She's scared. She would die to protect the people she loves. She loves children. She killed a baby manticore to get its mother's attention. She invented the Fluffernutter. She's so smart. She thinks she's ugly and not brave. She's learning how to love herself. She's my everything.

Favorite moment: Truly how can I choose just one... An early moment that has always stuck with me is when they're in Zadash and Nott turns herself in a halfling to just go to a cafe alone and have lunch and "be a normal girl". With the context of her backstory... ouch. Also Edith where is my son. And Your people did this to my people. All of the Nott-backstory-reveal stuff hits sooooo hard.

Idea for a story: I have sooo many but I'd love to write something about Veth watching Luc grow up over the years... Also something about Veth and Yeza's relationship, maybe the arc from their early romance to their relationship post-campaign in little snapshots.

Unpopular opinion: This isn't technically an opinion, but I feel like a lot of people forget how young Veth is? Like yes she has a husband and a child but she's like... mid-twenties? One of the youngest members of the Nein, actually. When people call her the team mom I'm like... she's a baby!!

Favorite relationship: I mean, Caleb and Veth. Of course. Their dynamic is everything. Truly one of the most interesting relationships I've ever seen played out in a ttrpg. I'm obsessed. (Second place goes to Veth and Jester, absolutely love their friendship.)

Favorite headcanon: I guess this is technically a Yeza headcanon, but I like to think that Yeza collected like... rocks and chemicals and science-y things as a kid, and he thought it was really cool that Veth had all of her little collections, too, and that's something they bonded over when they were young. :) Being the weird kids together.

Omg that gave me chills i was so scared for her for real. it was crazy. other Favorite Moments are the mia-dahlia baddie exorcism and will powers introduction scene (i just love going to ppls playthroughs and seeing them react to him)

but we live in a post-aj trilogy world so my real favorite moment is Dhurke! You're a sight for sore eyes! I knew you'd come save me!

Y'know I think if early 2023 me met late 2023 me…they would not believe the shit that I have accomplished:

develop new hobbies such as keyboard building; I've only built one so far, but I plan on building more in the future. I have a 75% keyboard that I modded a couple of months ago, and it's a joy to use

lose significant interest in using vocal synths such as UTAU over time (note: I still enjoy listening to such songs these days, it's just that I have more interesting things to work on). I still mess with singing robots but not as much, maybe the day will come when I'll actually enjoy this kind of thing LOL…maybe it's for the best

pick up animatics and motion graphics!! I am still relatively new to these, and it's been fun learning new skills to apply to my own work. I also have a couple of animatic projects currently in progress

improve my art significantly and taking art pratice more seriously (I ignored it for nearly 10+ years)…comparing my more recent art to the ones I made early this year reveals a drastic difference in my art style and the way I approach drawing. Also I should paint more background studies because they're fun to do

work on my OC projects with more effort, and I've made lots of progress with their respective stories and concepts…more details to come later on

quit FGO once and for all after 6+ years of playing it! I had 600+ SQ saved up for this one character I liked but then I lost interest over time. Still invested in the lore, but the game…not so much

get into Transformers (starting mid-September)!! I think with my interest in robot/cyborg-related media such as PGR/Nikke/Gundam, it did come full circle…I'd like to get more into the community since I've been enjoying TF media from the sidelines for the most part, but the community here on Tumblr has been very nice so far. god I love robots (and I've been getting realy comfy drawing mechs lately WOOO)

Spring: Chosen Family by Rina Sawaya

I know Mankai is a family but like Spring is the family so... Anywho in my head I see an animatic for them and that song, it's incomplete because I need to flesh out Sakuya and Tsuzuru's sections like I have ideas but I feel need to actually read Act 12 and not just about Act 12 to plan out Sakuya's section and I don't fully feel like I can plan Tsuzuru's without having Skuya's because I decided it follows it. Then also the closing. That's not fleshed out either. & by "fleshed out" I mean written down. I have mental visuals but not notes on those parts, I have notes on everything else tho lol (If you want to hear about it, I'm probs never gonna actually make it so feel free to ask.)

Summer: Oath by Cher Lloyd ft. Becky G

I'm absolutely certain that this is their vibe, it's high energy, & it's got the lines: "I know I drive you crazy, sometimes, I know I call you lazy, and that's most times But you complete me, and that's no lie" & I feel like that's pretty much a summary of them, you know? Like I'm not saying just those lines I feel the whole song is them but if I could only take one part to sell my point it's that one. Also, I want to say that to me, the song feels, in part, like the group singing to Tenma but I digress.

Autumn: Endlessly by Mystery Skulls

This is a song about protecting/fighting for whom you care about and that's what I associate Autumn troupe with. Like it's a short song/there aren't many lyrics but the chorus is: "I won't let them take you away from me, I'll be your protection and I'll fight for you endlessly" So to me, it's pretty fitting. But an honorable mention is Can We Be Friends? by Conan Gray because of the lines: "and if anybody fs with you, they f with me, so if anybody fs with you, I'll knock their teeth out" because that's also very them.

Winter: Garden by Meet Me @ The Altar

I think I'm leaning towards this one solely because of the garden/flower motif & Tsumugi runs the Mankai garden & Winter Troupe has Sunny Blanc, both the play and the event. & like I know all the members have flowers associated with them and Summer has The Floral Prince but I moreso associate Winter Troupe with flowers, kinda like the family Mankai but especially Spring Troupe thing. But all in all, I was thinking it fits because it's about supporting and being there during hard times idk. Another song I considered was Gorgeous by Taylor Swift for the fuyupoly I'll Be There For You by The Remembrandts which I kinda considered first as it has sorta the same meaning, like their both like "life sucks but I'm here to support you through it, it's okay your not alone" but Garden has a flower metaphor and is by Meet Me @ The Altar.

Anyway, I hope I don't sound dumb lol. I picked these songs out pretty much after only knowing a3! for like a month or two (started the anime in Feb, finished in March, started reading events mid or late March, drafted this post on April 3rd), I've cleaned up the post and added and changed things but essentially these songs I chose have been my choices for them since April. I have jumped around quite a bit so there's still stuff I'm missing and whatnot so if my reads of the groups are off I guess that's why. I don't think I'm too far off though. Idk tho, I'm definitely not an a3! scholar.

ok so . i think this is in large part due to the pandemic lockdowns. but did the fandom feel fast to anyone else. dsmp specifically but also adjascent smps (osmp, 30smp, etc)

like, you'd watch a crazyinsane lore stream and then log on here or instagram or whatever and artists had already churned out what looked like weeks of work. huge analysis posts would drop practically as soon as the stream ended

there was this constant pressure to be online imo. when people would get cancelled or called out youd see ppl on twitter tagging like 20 people saying "moots u still follow. unfollow within 24hours or im blocking u" or people with "offline for 2 days for finals sorry!!" in their dn and like. constant discourse that u were expecred to immediately have an opinion on without knowing all the facts yet.like if u didnt immediately disavow whoever was being called out this time people would be like "why havent u retweeted this thread! why arent u talking abt this!" (definitely more on twt than here, but still)

also i think part of it was a LOT of mcyt fans at the time were adhd and hyperfixating so once ppls fixations ended they moved on. and also some fandoms (COUGH. DSMP) ppls interest in the servers fizzled out as they were able* to go outside and go places and travel and do things other than play minecraft

(*not that they should have been travelling or meeting up or going to cons. considering we were AND ARE in a pandemic! and very few ccs even wear masks or take tests!)

but with the amount of drama and controversies. hell we even had bnfs, tho no one called them that lol (sad-ist for the whole dsmp fandom, dakota tbhyourelame for dnf/dteam and all of mcyt as well really, derivakat, bio bioloveds for boobers, theres definitely a lot more super well known fans that im blanking on rn). and an insane amount of art was made, 77,000 dsmp fics, 170,000 more fics in the video blogging rpf tag (tho not all of those are mcyt of course), fansongs and animatics and playlists and art and art and more art... thousands and thousands of discourse threads...

as the dsmp (which was as far as i can tell the biggest of all the 2020-2022 smps) was ending people were leaving the fandom, bc it was a lot of people's first fandom and i guess it's not like common knowledge that u can stay after something ends haha. and then the stuff about dream's allegations came out and that made a huge amount of people understandably decide to leave and stop associating with him or the wider dsmp or even mcyt at all

and so the fandom got way smaller really fast. and now it's like. i think "fallen into obscurity" would be dramatic but it's not nearly as popular as it used to be. and a lot of mcyt fandom in general took a big hit once lockdowns ended and people stopped caring abt taking covid precautions though it wasnt to the scale that the dsmp did. hermitcrafters are still doing their thing, there's qsmp, the esmp and llsmp fandoms are definitely still going strong. but compared to what it was, the dsmp fandom feels like a ghost town

idk. i feel like with the level of intensity of people's obsessions, and the drama, and the controversies, and the lore, and the amount of art made, it feels like it shouldve taken years and years to get to that point. but it was really just early 2020 to mid 2022. and after mid 2021 stuff was already fizzing out. idk it's just crazy to me

i feel like 2020-2022 mcyt speedran a 20 year fandom in 2 years

Week 16 Overview

Hello, happy Friday! Today was a good week. I really got back on track from last week, and since there’s a three-day weekend this weekend I hope to get even more ahead for Week 17. 

Good stuff from this week: 

We switched up our class sections (which isn’t necessarily a good thing because I really liked my old section) but my new section is also very good, and I’m still sitting next to my battle bestie as of right now, so that’s good. 

Got an 81 and an 87 on the Reading and Listening Mid-Mod 4 exams, but the teacher did say she graded us suuuper leniently on that, lol. 

Went to this monthly little resiliency meeting thing on Wednesday and I had a good time! My understanding is that people in this little club can get the chance to present a speech of sorts on a topic of choice that relates in some way to fostering a better student environment. I enjoy public speaking so I’ll probably keep going to these meetings and eventually prepare a presentation of my own. 

In general it was a pretty smooth week. Definitely better than the academic trainwreck that was last week. 

Bad stuff from this week: 

Brooo so my class used to talk a lot about how we had a really great teaching team. Which we did. But I think the reason it was such a good teaching team was because there were three teachers in particular carrying the whole thing. And now two of those teachers are gone! One got a new job and the other was involuntarily moved to teach another class. She said she really protested the decision but there was nothing she could do. So now there’s really only one teacher in our whole team who I look forward to having. The others are alright, but to be honest I just don’t like the classroom environment any of them create. But whatever, just have to deal. 

Started feeling a little lonely this week. The resiliency club meeting thing helped, but that’s only once a month so it’s not like I can go to it again soon. But something good is that I recognized very early on that I was feeling a little lonely, and I made sure to not let myself spiral like I normally would have done in college. I just acknowledged the feeling and made sure it didn’t drive any big decisions. Eighteen year old me could never. 

Plans for the weekend: 

Memorize all the new vocabulary I can

Maybe take a few hours one day to a quick review of past content

Do as much of next week’s homework as I can.

I also really want to do something creative on the side again! I just broke out the ol’ drawing tablet and started drawing a comic I’ve been drafting in my mind/on paper. I’ve also been thinking about animatics to make, and stuff to write, and songs on the piano to learn, etc etc etc. There’s so much I want to create but I don’t have any time!

That’s it for Week 16, then. I think this puts me at one third of the way through. Although I now know that my graduation date is February 1, which makes this whole thing 52 weeks total, but I guess those 52 weeks are counting the couple weeks after we DLPT and wrap things up. I don’t know. If the course up until the DLPT is 48 weeks, then I’m officially one third of the way through.
