Emet-Selch has been seeing something odd the entire time the Warrior of Light has been on the First, but he wants to take this last chance to ask -- before S'ria is sent to Eulmore and the final Lightwarden is faced.
Ao3
"Well, fancy seeing you here."
Emet-Selch's voice made S'ria nearly jump out of his skin â namely because he'd been alone in the Pendants hallway a moment prior. S'ria fixed him with a particularly unimpressed look.
"Was there something you wanted?"
"I'm merely curious about your thoughts on my little lesson earlier."
Ah, yes. The rather dramatic explanation of the shards and their nature, visuals included.
"It made a certain measure of sense." Upon being flatly regarded for several moments, S'ria spoke up again with exasperation. "What, do you want me to say something else?"
"I simply thought someone of your unique nature would have more opinions on it." He made an elaborate shrug, adopting a faux-casual tone. "Speaking of which... I have a question I've been meaning to ask you."
S'ria sighed and leaned against the wall. "I can't stop you from asking, but I won't promise an answer."
"Is the middle of a hallway where you'd prefer to have this conversation? You don't seem too keen to be overly candid with your supposed allies. As fascinating as that is, I am trying to be accomodating of your quirks." He frowned at S'ria after moment with no response. "If it was unclear, I was hoping you would invite me in to your quarters â 'tis only proper courtesy."
S'ria's body betrayed an increasing amount of anxiety and Emet-Selch wondered if he knew how obvious it was. "Well, I suppose I'll thank your 'proper courtesy' for not simply approaching me in my room to begin with." He opened the door and gave Emet-Selch an unreadable look. "If you have any untoward intentions, I'd heavily recommend not acting on them."
Any response Emet-Selch would've given died under the brief wave of murderous intent rolling off of S'ria. There and then gone in a flicker. He raised an eyebrow and waited for Emet-Selch to walk in first, the message coming across loud and clear â I'm not turning my back on you.
S'ria seemed ill-at-ease with someone else in his personal quarters, hovering awkwardly near the door. His eyes flickered into the far corner of the room a few times, as if seeing something that distracted him.
Ill-at-ease barely covered it, actually. He looked as though he was about to crawl out of his skin if Emet-Selch stayed a single second longer than necessary.
"Okay? Get on with it."
Emet-Selch pushed down the urge to act insulted by the blunt hostility. "You remember my explanation, I take it, of you and your fellow Source-mate's boon? Six entire parts more whole than the inhabitants of this wretched shard."
"You've made your disdain very clear, yes."
"Yes, yes â Then I'll ask this plainly. What in Zodiark's name is wrong with your soul? Not the Light, deeper than that."
"Excuse me?" S'ria looked so baffled that the fear almost dropped from his features.
"The rejoined parts, they're supposed to be seamless, but you've gone andâŚdone what, exactly?" Emet-Selch looked, somehow, genuinely disturbed. "It's not very plain to see but the closer I look â it's like you've been re-Sundered along new faults."
S'ria couldn't think of any response but to laugh â half hysteria, half genuine vindication at knowing something the Ascian doesn't.Â
"Oh, is that all? Get out."
"What, I haven't earned so much as a mere â"
"Get out."
Emet-Selch raised his hands in supplication and stepped backwards into darkness, leaving S'ria alone in his room again.Â
Mostly alone, anyway.
Ardbert had been looking at him with more than a little concern and judgment from the moment he'd let Emet-Selch into the room. He watched the spot where the man had disappeared with no small amount of distrust, before turning back to S'ria with a nervous laugh.
"Hey, it's your room, but if you want to bring someone back here, let me know so I can give you some privacy."
S'ria abruptly looked somewhat nauseous.
Ardbert cringed. "Okay, noted, that was rather in poor taste. Sorry."
S'ria sighed and waved him off. "It's not⌠you don't need to worry about that happening." He dropped to the floor and pulled his knees up to his chest, trembling settling into his body. "This was a mistake, I don't know if I can sleep here tonight. It feels like I gave him permission or something." His breathing quickened and his shifted his arms up to hide his face.
"Good thing you've got an invisible watchdog, then."
That snapped S'ria out of his spiral. "Huh?"
"S'ria, I don't sleep, no one can see me, and I have the ability to start making really loud noises right next to you. No one will get the drop on you while you're resting."
S'ria lifted his head and smiled shakily at him with a look that suggested he might start crying, and gods did Ardbert hope that didn't happen. He'd really be way out of his depth.
Oh, who was he kidding. He'd been out of his depth for a long time now.

Loved You First
rafe cameron x fem! reader | á´Ęá´á´á´á´Ę 1
Two years ago, Rafe left the island without saying a word. Unknowingly to him, you were pregnant all along. When he finally comes back, heâs desperate to get you back not knowing itâs more complicated than it seems.
đđžđđđžđ đđşđđđžđđ
đđđ
Two years ago. Thatâs when you last saw Rafe Cameron. And during those two years you were pregnant for nine months with his baby. Not that he knew though.
It was difficult to say the least, and if it wasnât for your little girl Julie , your heart would have never recovered. She was only about a year and a half, but she was sunshine in human form. Julie had the same eyes as her father that destroyed your idea of love, but she had your kind and giving spirit. She had the same smile as the man who left you one day for good, but she had your fondness for animals. Sure many of her physical attributes came from Rafe, but her heart was all you.
Maybe Rafe disappearing without a single explanation or goodbye was the reason you swore off affection for good. Everyone knew it did, but you insisted that your decision to lock the door of love and throw awake the key was to focus on yourself and your baby. Plus itâs not like you havenât moved on. Well, maybe not romantically speaking, but youâve moved on with your life. You had a job as a waitress at the local diner and even though Julie didnât have her dad in the picture, your friends made sure that she had many aunts and uncles to shower her with love and care.
Of course you still struggled. Providing for a child was expensive, especially with only having a waitress job to support the two of you. On top of it all pathetic as it was, you still thought about Rafe even though it was two years since he left without a word. What if he stayed? He hadnât even known you were pregnant, you never got the chance to tell him.
You constantly found yourself dwelling on these what-ifs. But itâs not like anything would change, your paths would never cross for. The thought was solidified in your head until you heard the news. Rafe was back on the island.
Well he technically wasnât back permanently. But heâs been coming back and forth for buisness trips, and each time youâve managed to skillfully avoid him. Not like it was hard, The two main places you spent your time was the diner and home anyway.
The first time you saw him in person after everything was at the diner. One of your friends was babysitting little Julie as you were working a double shift that day. You were giggling at a joke on of your coworkers made when the door chimed open.
âHey what can I get started for youââ The menu in your hands was now dropped onto the floor once you saw who it was. Rafe. Your ex lover and the father of your child, who didnât even know he was a father.
You werenât going to let him see you weak. You werenât going to let him see you flustered while stumbling over your words. âSorry about that. What can i get started for you again?â
âHey.. Can we talk?â, Rafe asks not even bothering to look at the menu placed in front of him. Unlike you, he wasnât caught off guard in the least. He must have found out you were working at the diner somehow.
Two years. Two years since he left without a word. It didnât matter whether or not he knew you were pregnant or not, he still left. And you were determined to not let him back in that easy. âIâm sorry thatâs not an option on our menu. Can I start you off with something to drink?â
âI just need five minutesââ
âSo what can I get started for you today? Our appetizers are on the front pageâ.
âFine play it like that. Iâll take a water thenâ.
Before he can say anything else you turn back, your heels stomping during each step. Heâs back? Why did he have to come here out of all place? Who does he think he is asking to talk? Heâs the one who left two years ago without saying a word. If your boss hadnât let out a small cough to interrupt your thoughts, you wouldnât have realized that the cup in your hand was overflowing as you poured the water mindlessly.
He stayed there the rest of the day. Still sitting in that little booth just ordering a glass of water over and over again. And everytime you went over to ask if heâd like the check, heâd beg for a chance to talk again and again. Why was he desperately trying to fix things after two whole years? Did he know about.. No no he couldnât.
Of course you were closing that night, which meant that you couldnât escape Rafe as you locked up the diner for the night. You were tired of his attempts and just wanted to go home to your daughter.
âJust five minutesâ, Rafe pleaded once again. âYou know what no Iâll take two minutes of your time thatâs all. Promiseâ.
âListen I know Iâm an idiot I knowâ, he started, And I left and I was stupid and it took me two years to realizeâ-
You stop him right there not willing to hear another word. âYeah you were stupid. I donât want your pity or your apologizes. It was two years ago Rafe, Iâm sure we both moved onâ. You start walking towards the nearest bus stop as Rafe follows close behind.
âWait! Wait okay okay! Iâm not asking for your forgiveness okay?.. I uh need a place to stayâ, his words rush and overflow out of his mouth. He was desperate to get you to listen to him. Even if he had to lie about needing a place to stay.
His words stop you in your tracks. âA place to stay? I know you sold your place back at Tannyhill a while back but you donât have⌠a rental house or something?â
âNot anymore⌠I sold it. And all the hotels are fully booked around hereâ.
Rafe knew it was a reach, and didnât expect you to comply. If it wasnât peak tourism season at the island you wouldnât have believed him. âFine. You can stay over at my house for a nightâ.
You were always sweet. Even to the man that abandoned you without a word. Itâs just who you were. You could pretend to be cold and heartless in front of Rafe, but you both knew deep down that wasnât who you were.
Itâs a long and awkward bus ride, Rafe tries to speak every now and then but you quickly shut him down. Heâs suddenly quiet once the two of you reach your place though. Itâs⌠modest to say the least. Not in the best neighborhood either, but who was he t judge anyway. Being judgmental wasnât going to get you back.
He notices how you have to practically kick open the door in order to get it unlocked. He also notices how small and cramped your place is. What does catch him off guard is the little girl running into your arms the minute you open the door.
âMamaaaaaaaa!!!!!â, little Julie squeals as she toddles over to you and throws herself into your arms. Your friend who was babysitting her just chuckles at the little girlâs reaction and gets up from her spot on the couch.
âHow has it been a year and a half already? Sheâs growing too fastâ, your friend coos as you agree.
You quickly thank her for watching your Julie, hoping she wonât notice Rafe on her way out and by some miracle she doesnât. But little Julie does as she giggles and waves to him from over your shoulder.
The door shutting from your friendâs exit is what forces Rafe out of his thoughts. That little girl in your arms was your daughter Was she his daughter too? He didnât even need to ask, she had to be. With those eyes she had there was no doubt about it.
You donât have to say anything to Rafe. The look you give him says it all.

summary celebrating layla's first birthday surrounded with friends and family.
warning(s) none just a whole lotta cuteness.
Today, one year ago, you brought your first daughter Layla into the world. Amazing how quickly a year can pass. It seems like you just gave birth and cradling her in your arms.
Can't count on your fingers how many times you cried the past two days over Layla turning one. No one can blame you for feeling these emotions. She's your first born.
âCan you believe sheâs one?â Rafe says while setting up the last string of balloons over the arch wall that leads into the kitchen.
You shake your head, âno I donâtâ feeling your words crack with emotion as you prepare breakfastâ this was gonna be a special morning breakfast.
As the scent of freshly cooked pancakes permeated the air, you gently plated them, adding a sprinkle of syrup and a small dollop of whipped creamâjust enough to taste. You cut the pancakes into tiny, baby-sized pieces, just right for Layla's delicate hands. A few blueberries on the side rounded out the meal, and you couldn't help but feel a rush of joy as you placed the plate in her high chair.
Rafe and you walked upstairs together to see if Layla was up. The sounds of her little gibberish could be heard down the hall. Layla was looking around her room sitting upâ insane smile forms on her when she sees you two get closer. She lifts her arms up to get out.
"Happy first birthday, baby girl," you both exclaim.
She giggles with glee as Rafe scoops her up and places her on his hip before giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead. She stares at him in complete aww for a moment.
Layla turns to face you, her smile widening, her body slanting in your direction as if she wanted you to give her a quick hug. "My precious girl is one?" You hold her close to you for a couple seconds.
When you walk at the end of the stairs, Layla's eyes gleam with curiosity seeing the lavender colors. She saw the decorations of butterflies hanging from the ceiling, all different colors. She squealed with excitement and opened her eyes wide, grabbing for the closest one.
Rafe set her in her highchair while you went around the kitchen counter with your phone for pictures. Layla exclaimed when she saw her breakfast waiting to be devoured. You snap a few photos while she eats breakfast, then Rafe and you get your plates.
The house is ready for friends and family to arrive. The party doesn't start until twelve thirty, giving everyone plenty of time to prepare.
In case guests wanted to take pictures, there was a picture curtain with the words "Happy Birthday Layla" above.
Friends and family began to arrive, each one bringing gifts for Layla. You greeted them at the door, hugging each person as they stepped inside. Their faces lighting up seeing Layla in her birthday outfit.
"Oh Layla you look so cute in your dress!" Your mom gasped in excitement seeing Layla in Rafe's arms waving at those who came in.
"Can you say thank you grandma?' You grin up at Layla who babbles.
Layla responds by babbling and hiding her face in Rafe's chest.
Layla wore a soft lavender tulle skirt with a bodice decorated with tiny pink butterflies. Her golden curls were gathered into two small pigtails, secured with matching butterfly clips. She looked like the cutest princess.
Half an hour into the party, pictures were taken, conversations, kids running around, etc. The Cameron household was busy to say the least.
You showed everyone where the food and beverages would be once they were ready to eatâ fruits, desserts, sandwiches, barbecue, cupcakes, drinks, and more.Â
Sarah was leaning against the counter with a plate in her hand, nodding her head to the song playing from the tv. You grab a cupcake before joining her.
"This party is so cute, it screams Layla" Sarah states, regarding the decorations in the house. "The flowers are my favorite,"
"Aw, thank you, Sarah, and initially, when I was looking for decorations and saw the flowers, I knew I needed to get them!"
"On a real note and I'm sure you'll agree but Layla already being one is insane because it feels like she was just born" Sarah frowns, facial expression showing she's feeling a lot of emotions.
"I couldn't agree moreâ I cried last night before bed, and Rafe comforted me the whole night," you respond quietly.
It was time to start singing happy birthday as time went on. You sat Layla down in front of everyone in her high chair. She looked around waving with both hands with a smile. Rafe came around the corner with a small cake in his handâ Layla's eyes went wide.
"On three, we sing Miss Layla, happy birthday," you say enthusiastically, raising your right palm in the air.
As you both bent in to help Layla in blowing out the flame, Rafe stood next to you, his arm around your waist. Layla clapped her hands with joy as friends and family erupted in cheers and her face broke into the largest smile you've ever seen.
Opening presents was last to go. Layla's tiny hands grasp on each gift she receivedâ curious whatever was in the bag or wrapped in paper. She got toys, clothes, and a few small things.
As the day drew to a close, friends and family began to leave with their children. Layla fell asleep in Rafe's arms in the backyard, sitting around the bonfire with your father, Ward, and friends.
Your mom, Rose, and you were sitting on the front porch swing having a simple conversation about motherhood. They each told you what motherhood taught them and the emotions you feel when it's your first borns birthday.
The smell of the fresh planted flowers, summer breeze hitting your skin, and the sun getting ready to set beautifully.
"I've been thinking a lot about what it means to be a mother," you admitted after a time, your voice subdued. "There is so much joy, but also an overwhelming sense of responsibility. I just want to do the right thing for her, you know?
"You're doing an amazing job," Rose encouraged you, placing her hand lightly on your arm. "Motherhood has many obstacles, yet it is apparent how much you adore her. That's what counts the most."
Your mom nodded in agreement. "There isn't a perfect way to accomplish it, no manual or roadmap. You just have to believe in yourself and know that you are enough. "Layla is fortunate to have you."
You felt tears form at the corners of your eyes, but they were happy tears. This conversation, on this particular day, exceeded your expectations. As you sat there, surrounded by women who had helped you through life and into motherhood, you felt overwhelmed with gratitude.
"Thank you for those kind words. I definitely needed to hear that, literally. Time just went by so fast in a blink of an eye" you sniffle while your mom and Rose rub your back.
It was officially the end of the night. The three of you were in your pajamas, ready for bed. The house had decorations up that will be up for another day or two. You held Layla in your armsâher head on your shoulder falling asleep.
You brought Layla upstairs, placing her in her crib and bringing the cover up to her chin. For a time, you simply stood there, watching her sleep, overcome with love for this tiny human who had altered your life in the most beautiful way.
Rafe threw his arm around you as you both stood there, and you knew that no matter how quickly time passed or how many birthdays came and went, the love you felt tonight would see you through it all. And when you turned off the light and closed the door, you couldn't help but grin, knowing that this was only the start of many more wonderful memories.
"Happy birthday, Layla."

IU being an expensive hooker
Expensive Night
(IU X Male Reader)
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"
You shout as you walk through your living room. Your parent's living room to be exact.
It felt like an awesome idea half an hour ago. And it felt like a dream twenty minutes ago. But now it feels like you are committing a great sin.
Your parents are out for a dinner date. It's their anniversary today. The 25th. You helped your dad with the surprise for a week now. He wanted to take your mother out to the place they first met. Their school, which you are going to currently. He got the key for the roof from the janitor yesterday and will surprise your mom with a romantic picnic, overlooking almost half of the city.
Your father didn't tell you what he planned for afterwards, but he let you know that they are gonna stay out late.
Which now means that you are home alone at 9 pm on a Thursday night. Not necessarily unusual. You finished your homework, starting to prepare for your finals. School today was like any other day.
Except for one thing. One of the guys bragged about having sex with the hottest girl in school. You still highly doubt that he told the truth. But you can't help being envious. You never had sex before, despite being eighteen for a while now.
Your parents always told you, that it's not about the act itself, but about the person you are with. You always agreed to some degree, but you still feel like you are missing out. And there is no guarantee you are ever gonna find that woman. Right?
Which now leads us to your actions from thirty minutes ago. You never considered doing it. You were never really into porn and you definitely never even had the urge to pay to watch something like that. But for some reason, that spam mail you got, lured you in.
Because of the woman's picture. You usually delete these kind of mails as soon as you see them, not wanting to catch a virus. But when you saw her picture, you couldn't resist.
Not only because she looks like a goddess. Like the most beautiful woman you've probably ever seen. But because she is Julie's mother.
Who's Julie? The hottest girl at school. The girl your classmate allegedly slept with.
You were surprised to see her in that email. You were even more surprised, when you found out that this wasn't a normal dating site. It was an ad for an app. An app where you can hire a prostitute. To pay a woman to have sex with you.
Never in your life did you think about doing this. It didn't even cross your mind once. But here you are. Thirty minutes later, staring at your phone.
"See you in forty minutes, baby đ"
You check the time. She is gonna be here in like 8 minutes.
Suddenly, you become incredibly nervous. Since you asked her to come over, you were worried about your parents finding out. But now, you realize that this is actually happening. What are you supposed to do? You already took a shower. Maybe prepare flowers? But that's stupid, you aren't trying to date her.
You get back to your room, starting to clean it properly. She might already know who you are. The two of you didn't interact with each other for the last two years. You only caught a glimpse of her occasionally at events and stuff. But she is still Julie's mother. And older than you. You don't want her to think you are some inexperienced child.
When the doorbell rings, you feel the butterflies in your stomach going crazy. This is really gonna happen.
You slowly walk over to the front door. Taking a deep breath, you finally open it.
You are stunned by the older woman, who is standing in front of you. She might be your mom's age, but she looks better than any of the girls at school. Probably even better than her own daughter.
"Hello, handsome."
Jieun gives you a heartwarming smile. Her white dress looks incredible on her. You can't help but glance at her shoulders and then her thighs shortly after. The excitement of feeling her skin on yours makes your body heat up. You can feel your erection starting to grow.
"Do you want me to come in? You can keep staring once I'm inside."
Her melodic laugh makes your cheeks flush. You wanted to look like you've done this before, damn it.
"S-Sure."
You close the door behind her, after she walked past you. The scent of lilac lingers in your nose.
"Have a seat please."
You are not really sure how to proceed. Do you offer her something to drink? Do you discuss her pay? You are still surprised she doesn't seem to recognize you. It's probably for the better anyway. You already feel bad for paying your classmate's mother for having sex with you.
You are slightly curious to why Ms. Lee is doing this, but your thoughts get distracted by her sitting down.
Her long, creamy legs almost make you reach out to touch her. The smile playing on her lips makes you want to kiss her.
"Do you want to discuss everything for a minute, before we start?"
Jieun shakes her head, a mischievous smile on her lips.
"Sure. Would you like something to drink?"
"I'm sure I'm going to drink something very delicious later."
Once you realize what she means, you have to sit down, not wanting to expose how hard she is making you.
"You are still pretty young though. Do you have enough money?"
You take the bundle of bills out of your pocket. It's everything you got for your last birthday, plus some of your earlier savings. A lot, but definitely worth it.
You feel a little awkward throughout this transaction, but Jieun seems to really be a professional.
Once you are done, Jieun takes your hand.
"I guess your bedroom is this way?"
She smiles at you, looking back over her shoulder. You nod, still mesmerized by her beauty.
Once you enter your room, Jieun makes you sit down on the edge of the bed. You hear your breath hitch, when she suddenly straddles your lap. Your hands instinctively move to her thighs, you feel her weight on your crotch.
Without another word, Jieun captures your lips with hers. You can't believe this is actually happening. The two of you share a hot kiss as you feel her slowly grinding against you. By the way she let's a moan escape into your mouth, you know that she can feel your hard cock.
"You're such a good kisser."
She only stops for a moment to tell you that, before she gets back to kissing you again.
You wonder if she is actually telling the truth or not. But you can't ask her as she starts to make the kiss more messy. Her fingers run through your hair, occasionally tugging at it lightly. Her tongue pushes past your lips, now dueling with your own for dominance.
You feel like the kiss lasts for hours. But eventually, the two of you need to break away for air.
"Do you want to watch me strip, or do you want to take the dress off yourself?"
"W-Watch."
You almost stumble over that one simple word.
With a grin, Jieun slowly gets off your lap. Instinctively, you cover your crotch with your hand, ashamed at how hard you are.
You expect her to just take it off. Instead, Jieun turns around. She puts her hair over her right shoulder, exposing her neck.
You gulp as she sits back down on your lap.
"Would you mind?"
Your eyes linger on the zipper of her dress. This is really happening. Your fingers shake slightly as you start to open Jieun's dress from behind. Slowly, you reveal more and more of her flawless skin.
You now stare at her completely exposed back. Unable to hold yourself back, you want to have another taste of Jieun's body.
Your lips meet her skin as you kiss her shoulder. You slowly move towards her neck, peppering her with small kisses.
"Good boy."
A sigh escapes Jieun's mouth. You like how she said it. With love and appreciation. As if you are the man she loves.
It turns you on more and you slowly kiss down her back. You take the same path her spine tikes, enjoying the sight of Jieun getting goosebumps at your touch.
Once you are unable to bend down further, Jieun gets off your lap. You can't tear your eyes off her as she twirls around, before giving you a seductive look. Slowly, she starts to let her dress glide down her frame.
"What do you think, honey?"
Her chest is exposed first. Her mounds seem to probably fit perfectly into your hands. Her pink nipples taunt you, trying to make you jump into action. Jieun's toned midriff deserves just as much admiration. You unconsciously bite your lip, when her dress slips past her hips, exposing her white panties. The lace patterns are firmly wrapped around her thighs. You can only catch a glimpse of her lower lips.
With a smile, Jieun hooks a thumb underneath the waistband, slightly pulling it down. Before you can see more of her, she puts it back in place, visibly enjoying teasing you.
"Not so fast. You have to show me what you have first."
You watch as Jieun steps between your legs, before she kneels down. This still feels like a dream to you. But here you are, you classmate's mother unbuckling your belt.
"I like the sight of that."
Jieun grins up at you after pulling down your pants. You have to stop yourself from bucking your hips towards her as she gives your cock, which is still restrained by your underwear, a kiss.
Another one follows quickly after.
"Thank you for this big gift."
Jieun chuckles as she lifts her head to kiss your lips. You can't tell if she is genuine or not. But her fingertips dancing along your length, make you forget what she just said.
With an alluring sparkle in her eyes, Jieun looks up at you as she pulls down your underwear.
"Fuck. You are huge."
You watch her bite her lip as she stares at your now exposed member. Of course you measured it before. This time you know that she isn't exaggerating. At least not a lot.
"Let me have a taste."
Jieun leans down to kiss your cock. She licks her lips afterwards, before she runs her tongue along the length of your shaft.
"Relax, baby."
Jieun giggles, covering your right hand with her left. Only now do you realize that you've taken a hold of your sheets. Your knuckles starting to turn white.
"Is this your first time?"
You nod slowly, embarrassed that it's so obvious.
"Don't be shy. It's an honor, you know."
Jieun slowly strokes your cock up and down as she talks.
"Why don't you lie down and let me take care of you?"
"S-Sure."
You position yourself in the middle of your bed with your back slightly sinking into your mattress. Jieun is lying on her stomach, between your spread legs.
"I can't believe this is your first time. With a cock like this..."
She kisses your base and slowly starts to move towards your tip, peppering your cock with kisses. Once her lips wrap around your tip, she sinks her head down. You let out an embarrassed moan as Jieun uses her tongue to play with the head of your cock.
The older woman knows exactly what she is doing. You seem to sink further into the mattress as Jieun keeps worshipping your cock. Her lips glide along your shaft. Her tongue swirls around your tip, whenever she moves upwards.
"Such a nice cock."
She murmurs to herself occasionally between sucks and licks.
"It tastes so good."
Eventually, your cock is covered with her saliva.
"Do you want me to deep throat you? Check if it fits or not?"
You nod in excitement while Jieun is still talking.
"If it doesn't, I'm not sure if you would fit in my pussy. If you destroy me, you have to pay extra."
She gives you a wink, before she laughs.
You give Jieun an awkward smile, hoping that really is a joke.
When she starts to take you into her mouth again, you hold your breath. Her lips glide along your shaft. She goes further down than before. You feel Jieun starting to slow down a little. Eventually, you hit something inside of her.
It makes Jieun gag. She slowly backs up, until her mouth is empty again. She gives you another look, before she dives in once more. Soon, you have her choking again. This time, she went down even further. Instinctively you put a hand on her head, slightly bucking your hips upwards.
You can't believe how good this feels. Your cock feels warm and safe in Jieun's mouth. Your tip probably already down her throat as she tries to open her jaw even wider.
You catch yourself pressing Jieun's head into your crotch. Eventually, she taps on your thighs, struggling for air. Regretfully letting go of her, you watch your in spit covered cock fall out of her mouth.
"Wow. You are really something."
Before you can reply, Jieun is deepthroating you once more. Apart from the occasional choking, everything is quiet. You look down, watching how small rivers of her saliva run down to the base of your cock.
Your breathing becomes heavier as you try to calm yourself. This isn't the right time. You need to hold out longer. Your fingers bury themselves in your sheets once more.
"I-I want to fuck you now."
You are embarrassed, when these words spill out of your mouth. But you need a moment to calm down. You don't want this to end too soon.
A devilish smirk plays around Jieun's lips as she moves them along the length of your shaft. Until she finally releases your cock out of her mouth, you are afraid that you would cum too soon.
"I see you are getting more comfortable?"
"Well-"
Jieun's warm smile makes you stutter. You can't believe you are seeing the same smile with which she congratulated you on your 12th birthday. It just feels unreal.
"How would you like to take me?"
You haven't thought about that yet. Now that you got a much needed break, you try to come up with something.
Jieun must've seen you struggling to find something. She leans over your body to give you a deep kiss, before she moves her legs on both sides of your hips.
"Would you like me to ride you?"
You hesitantly nod. Now that you are about to lose your virginity, you don't care about how. You just want this to happen.
Your heart races when Jieun slowly pulls down her lace panties. This is the first time you actually see a woman naked in real life. Her shaven pussy greets you, once the white fabric reaches her knees. It looks too good to be true. You unconsciously lick your lips, imagining your head between her thighs. You bet she would taste delicious.
"What do you think?"
Jieun pulls back her folds a little, showing off more of her pink insides.
"I-It looks amazing."
"I hear that a lot."
Her laugh makes you smile.
Jieun puts her left hand on your chest, her smile suddenly turning into something different. She almost looks needy now.
"It's time to put your cock where it belongs."
Her right hand holds your cock once more, slowly stroking it a couple of times, before she guides it towards her warm core. This is it.
You watch with wide eyes. Your tip brushes her wet folds. Jieun moves it along her slit a couple of times, before she starts to part her lips with your cock.
Her wetness and warmth welcome you as your tip finally slips inside. Jieun slowly lowers herself onto you. Her pussy seems to swallow your cock, almost like her mouth did earlier. Its walls hug you, slightly squeezing your dick.
"Good boy."
Jieun mumbles, her eyes closed, as she sinks herself onto you.
You feel her pussy gliding along your shaft, until Jieun finally stops. You are almost fully inside of her by now. But you can see that she is struggling to take all of you inside.
Your hands automatically move to her waist, not sure what else to hold onto.
"You really are big."
Jieun sighs, before she starts to circle her hips. A moan almost escapes your mouth. This feels too good to be true. Why don't people have sex all the time? How are they able to do anything else?
You start to lose all train of thought, when Jieun stops the circling of her hips. She now lifts herself off you, both of her hands pressing against your chest. Her lips have a tight grip on you as they move along your length.
"Damn, you are making me so wet."
Jieun moans when she reaches your tip.
"I just want to impale myself on your cock until I cum."
Her confession makes you groan. You never thought you would hear someone say that to you. Ever.
Staying true to her words, Jieun suddenly slams herself down onto your lap. Bot of your eyes roll back at the pleasure. You feel your thighs slightly sticking together, due to Jieun's juices.
Before you can completely recover from this new feeling, Jieun has already moved upwards again and is now impaling herself onto your cock once more.
She hits you hard and deep everytime. The couple of seconds she needs to recover, whenever you bottom out inside of her, feel like ages.
"Jieun."
You moan her name, when she lets her pussy glide along your shaft once more.
Eventually, the two of you get used to each other. Jieun trades in the hard and deep thrusts for pace. She starts to really ride you now. The sound of her hips meeting yours echo through your room.
"Such a nice cock."
She breathlessly moans, her eyes shut as she enjoys the feeling of being completely filled.
Jieun keeps riding you, making you struggle to keep quiet. You try to distract yourself from the inevitable. Your hands start to explore Jieun's body. They first roam her midriff, enjoying her toned stomach, before they move further upwards.
You feel Jieun slowing down a little to make it easier for you to cup her tits. She tilts her head back when you grope her breasts.
"Yes, baby. Good boy."
You feel her pussy hugging you a little tighter now. You realize that you can't hold off your orgasm for much longer. It has been coming for a while now. Your exploring of her body made you forget about it for a moment. But the squeezing of her walls bring you back to reality.
Your hands keep cupping her tits as Jieun picks up the pace again. Soon, you are not the only one, who is hanging on by a threat.
The older woman feels your cock parting her walls, everytime she slams herself down on you. It almost seems like you hit deeper spots with every hit. Her nails slowly start to scratch the skin on your chest. That little bit of pain makes you squeeze Jieun's tits a little harder.
This finally drives the older woman over the edge. You didn't expect her to cum because of you. But here you are. Her pussy is pulsating around your cock, trying to to make you cum as well. Her lewd moan sounds like the voice of an angel as she voices her pleasure.
Jieun's tight grip on your cock brings you closer to your orgasm as well. You are able to hold out Jieun's, until she slowly starts to ride you again.
"Oh fuck. I needed that."
She sighs, enjoying your cock deep inside her pussy.
"I've been really stressed lately."
Jieun leans down to give you another kiss. You realize you are starting to get addicted to her lips. It's the same way with her pussy. If you stay inside of her for much longer, you doubt you will be able to live without it from now on.
"Tell me when you're there."
Jieun seems to be able to tell that you are close. It's embarrassing that you are cuming so soon. You wished you could try out more positions with her. Maybe even get a taste of her pussy. It looked more delicious than anything you've ever seen.
Jieun keeps riding you. Her snatch keeps your cock warm and wet. Her juices make it easy for her lips to glide along your shaft.
Your arms are slowly getting tired and you regretfully let go of her tits. Instead, your hands retake their place on Jieun's hip.
"Oh baby. Your cock feels so good. I really need your cum now."
Jieun's moaned words make you twitch inside of her. You are able to hold on a little longer. One more bounce. Two. Three.
You start counting, trying to distract yourself.
Ten. Twelve. Thirteen.
"Jieun."
Her name slips out of your mouth, accompanied by a deep groan. You never expected to say her name like this.
"Cum for me, baby. Put it in me."
You are unable to think straight. This is the hardest orgasm you've ever had. Everything starts to become blurry as you approach the end of the cliff.
"Creampie me. Give me that load."
Jieun's moans finally push you over. You feel her stop moving as you start to shoot rope after rope inside of her. You pump her pussy full with your cum.
You see stars as Jieun's pussy contracts around you, trying to squeeze every last drop out of your cock.
"Oh fuck yes. That's a good boy."
You eventually calm down, unable to comprehend what happened in the last thirty minutes. Did you actually do it? You had your first time with your classmate's mother? And came inside of her?
You are still unable to move, blankly staring up at the ceiling.
Jieun puts more weight onto your chest, leaning over you.
"You did great, baby."
She gives you another kiss.
"Where is the shower?"
"S-Second door on the right."
Jieun chuckles before kissing your cheek. She gets off of you and then off the bed. You realize she slipped her panties back on in the process. A dark spot is starting to ruin the white lace.
Taking this opportunity, you move your head, watching Jieun reach the door. Your eyes on her ass cheeks, taking in a sight, which you will probably never see again.
To your surprise, she suddenly turns around. Jieun giggles when she catches you staring.
"Aren't you coming?"
"W-What?"
"I thought you would enjoy taking me against a hard surface."
She winks at you, before leaving the room.
If you could, you would immediately jump off the bed. But your body is telling you take a moment.
Your eyes wander through your room, until they get caught on the yearbook, which is standing in your bookshelf. If Jieun would've seen it, would she have done the same? Or would she have called this off?
You genuinely can't tell.
When you hear a moan from the bathroom, you immediately jump out of your bed. The tiredness is all gone now. You realize that every second with her is priceless.

mrs williamson II l.williamson x reader
"-and now it's charlies turn for show and tell!" you clapped your hands together to gain your students attention, their chatter slowly ceasing as you sent them an appreciative smile for their quick listening.
a knock on the door however had their heads turning and your eyebrows raising in surprise as your wife stood there with a sheepish smile, clad in her training tracksuit with her hands shoved in her pockets.
"okay 4D, everyone turn our listening ears on nice and loud for charlie and i'll be right back! take it away my friend." you gave the boy an encouraging grin as he launched into an animated recount of how he had broken his arm over the weekend, waving his bright blue cast around as he did.
"hi?" you stepped outside of the classroom, sending the blonde a surprised smile. "hi gorgeous, sorry for the interruption i tried to just leave it with reception but they said to come find you here." leah smiled apologetically, the two of you pulling one another into a quick hug as she sweetly kissed your cheek.
"you left your house keys and i've got late training, double session. figured you'd want to be able to get back inside tonight!" the girl grinned as she pulled away and you sighed appreciatively, pecking her lips as she dropped the keys into your hand.
"miss just got a kiss! miss just got a kiss!" your head snapped sideways meeting the cheeky grin of several bored eight year olds gathered in the door frame. at your warning look they all scattered, hurrying back to their seats as leah chuckled.
"i see the stern teacher look works on other people than just your sister then?" leah grinned in amusement, referring to her teammate alessia who was your younger sister and the reason the two of you had even crossed paths years ago in the first place.
"hey you've got an arsenal hoodie on! do you like football? miss williamson can she please come in and talk about football?" a different students head popped around the door frame, shooting both you and your wife his best puppy dog eyes.
you glanced to leah who gave you a small shrug, murmuring she didn't have training for another hour. "i guess it's my turn for show and tell then!" you chuckled, grabbing leahs hand and leading her inside, twenty sets of eager eyes following your every move.
"alright boys and girls! listening ears on again please. this is leah, she's a professional footballer and as russel pointed out she plays for arsenal." you introduced your wife who leant against your desk, folding her arms over her chest and sending your students a warm smile and a wave.
"miss that's not just a footballer that's leah williamson, she's the england captain and my sister loves her! she has her shirt too." william, another student, piped up enthusiastically from the back as the room.
"miss williamson if you and leah have the same last name, are you sisters?" one of the girls asked curiously and leah hid a laugh behind a fake cough as you sent her a firm warning.
"no julie, leah is my wife. i took her last name when we got married!" you explained patiently, your students all ohhing in response and their was a brief pause of silence before the room absolutely erupted into chatter, the kids all shooting question after question at your wife.
"okay 4D we do not yell over the top of one another! we use our manners and we wait our turn and display our..." you trailed off expectantly, nodding your head suggestively to this weeks words written on the board behind you.
"patience!" your students echoed back causing a bright smile of pride to tug at your lips, leah noticing as her heart melted, always having had the largest soft spot for the obvious passion you had for teaching and your students.
"okay who has a question for leah? hands up, she'll call on you one by one." you instructed as at least half the room raised their hands eagerly, wiggling impatiently in their chairs as leah chuckled and began to point them out.
"leah do you love miss williamson?" "most of the time." leah smiled cheekily in response causing a few giggles to break out from the kids surrounding her.
"leah does miss williamson snore?" "oh yes, she sounds like a truck!" leah answered, mocking the noise as your cheeks flushed bright red and even more giggles met leahs ears, causing her grin to grow.
"leah what's your favourite thing about football?" "oh thats a hard one! but i think playing in a team and having lots of really supportive people around you on the pitch, the girls i play with at england and at arsenal are some of my very best friends." leah answered sincerely as you nudged your shoulder into hers with a soft smile.
a half hour later and you had to interrupt the game of two touch leah had got going on with your students using a crumpled up piece of paper, quietly reminding her that she had training and clapping out a pattern to gain the attention of the room, your kids clapping it back and settling somewhat.
"leah has to go to training now! but can we all please give her a big cheer and a thank you for spending her time speaking with us today?" you called out as your students echoed an enthusiastic thank you, a few of them rushing in to hug leah who tensed in surprise before her face softened and she ruffled their hair and pat at their backs before they went racing back to their desks at your request.
"everyone grab out your books please! quiet reading time until the lunch bell goes, i'll be right outside so i will hear if anyones chitter chattering, remember my listening ears are always on!" you warned tugging at your ears as leah smiled softly and your students giggled but did as you asked.
"thank you lee, they loved that." you stepped outside and walked leah a few feet away with a smile, wrapping your arms around her neck as hers snaked around your waist, the blonde pressing a tender kiss into your hair.
"i loved that. would you maybe want me to come back with some of the girls? run a little friendly game and do some easy drills?" your wife offered as you made a face of surprise.
"if you have time? they would actually go mental if you could." you agreed eagerly, your wife reassuring she was sure it would be fine but she would check with jonas this afternoon.
"maybe on a friday afternoon, i know you said they go stir crazy so close to the weekend." leah chuckled and you sighed, nodding in agreement at how hard fridays were to keep them all engaged.
"that would actually be perfect. but you better go baby, you'll be late and i don't fancy hearing you moan about all the extra laps you'll have to run if you are!" you teased, your blonde rolling her eyes and pinching playfully at your side for the comment, pecking your lips a few times.
"miss got another kiss! miss got another kiss!" "4D i told you my listening ears are on!"
~
"i'm home!" you heard the front door open and your wife call our tiredly, hearing her kit bag thump to the floor as her sliders squeaked across the floor, the girl making a brief stop in the kitchen to chug a glass of water.
"in here love!" you called back, curled up on the lounge with your laptop on your knees, lesson planning for the week ahead. "hello gorgeous." your wife sighed and you were quick to move your laptop to the side as leah collapsed tiredly on top of you.
"tough session?" you hummed, running your hands through her hair as she nodded, face pressed into your stomach. "my arms feel like they're going to fall off, my legs are like jelly, can we just sleep here on the lounge?" leah mumbled into your top as you let out a beat of laughter and she moved so her chin rested on your chest, looking up at you with a tired but loving smile.
"i think i have something to lift your spirits baby." you gently tapped at her to signal you were going to get up, the blonde rolling off of you as you stood, rummaging through your work bag.
"you made quite the impression!" you smiled softly, handing leah a stack of papers as your wife pulled herself into a sitting position and began to rifle through them, her face softening significantly as she did.
"they did these for me?" leah asked quietly, eyes scanning the brightly coloured drawings with a tender gaze and you hummed your confirmation, sitting back down beside her and stretching your legs across her lap.
"i was ordered they were to go straight to you from my bag as soon as i next saw you or else i would be in some serious trouble with the artists." you teased, leah flicking through them again with a beaming grin.
"thank you, that's made my day." leah grinned, carefully placing the stack of papers down on the coffee table and pawing at your hoodie, needily pulling your body properly on top of hers and burying her face in your neck.
"i love you, mrs williamson."
~
"okay my friends listening ears on please! settle down, settle down." you clapped and called out over the incredibly restless group of children who were bouncing from foot to foot, whispering excitedly to one another as the looked toward the small huddle of women stood behind you.
"now i know we are all very excited, but i need some calm and some quiet so we can meet our new friends!" you stood back a little and gestured for them to step forward, everyone gathered on the oval for the final hour left of the school day.
"now this is alessia, steph, caitlin, katie, lotte and we all already know leah." you introduced as each girl gave a wave and a grin to the group of children stood in front of them. "your wife!" one of the boys piped up with a cheeky grin and a giggle as you sighed but nodded, rewarded with a chorus of fake kissing noises.
"okay enough of that or we'll go back inside and do our timetables!" you warned as a hush instantly fell, smiling happily and stepping aside for leah to take the reigns.
"you look like miss williamson!" one of the girls pointed to alessia with a frown as your sister smiled. "that's because she's my little sister" you explained, again a round of ohh's coming from your students in response.
"her big little sister!" alessia smirked, the much taller girl patting your head mockingly causing the children to giggle, leah stepping in and beginning to speak.
"the bossiness isn't just reserved for your friends and family? those poor children." alessia tutted from beside you as leah explained the first training drill your class was going to do, using katie and lotte for a demonstration.
"alessia if you so much as utter one word that i find inappropriate or teach them anything they don't need to know about me, i promise on nonna i will tell gio exactly how his pool table got broken." you murmured quietly to the blonde stood beside you who shot you a filthy look at the threat but remained quiet, bumping her shoulder into you and walking off after lotte with her assigned group.
"leave her alone!" leah chuckled pressing a quick kiss to your cheek as you rolled your eyes. "you always take her side, you're supposed to be my wife! i am sick and tired of the two of you teaming up against me." you huffed with a shake of your head.
"i am technically her sister in law, i'm just being supportive!" leah teased, grabbing at your waist and stealing a kiss when no one was looking, whispering for you to stop being grumpy before jogging off to help katie.
despite that the afternoon went off without any real issues, your students as expected absolutely adoring the girls and an afternoon full of physical exercise and sunshine.
"miss williamson its your turn now!" one of the boys kicked the ball at you, all of them taking turns to shoot at goal as you shook your head. "this is meant to be fun for all of you not for me!" you kicked the ball back as your students all began to protest your decision.
"she's just scared she'll miss!" alessia teased from where she stood in goal beside lotte, cocking an eyebrow at you challengingly, leahs hand coming to rest on the small of your back from where she stood watching on beside you.
"you won't miss, we believe in you!" one of the girls shouted, half of your students all cheering you on as the others took your sisters side, joining in as she boo'd you.
"i think you have to now babe, you've riled them up again." leah chuckled quietly, rubbing your back comfortingly as you sighed, stepping forward toward the goal as the cheers got louder and lotte swiftly stepped out of goal, mumbling a good luck to her blonde best friend.
"come on, surely you've grown out of your two left feet by now!" your sister mocked, you having had the pleasure of growing up relentlessly teased by both her and your older brothers for your astounding lack of athletic ability.
"go on williamson, show her what you're made of!" katie encouraged with a grin, squatted down amongst the kids and starting a clap and chant of your name.
only spurred on further by the confident smile on alessia's smug face, countless memories of having footballs kicked at your head and being forced to stand in goal by your brothers, you placed down the ball and took a step back.
taking a step forward you connected with the ball as it sky rocketed and headed right for alessia's face, your sisters expression paling as she ducked and there was a swish as the ball smacked against the back of the net.
your students all screamed in delight right as the bell rang, and you yelled out over the top of them a big thank you for being so well behaved, wishing them all a safe and happy weekend.
you helped your wife to pack up the goals as half your students all raced off, eager to start their weekend whilst others hung around chatting to the girls. "i'd be watching your back if i was you love." leah grinned, nodding to a very unimpressed look plastered on your younger sisters face as she shot you a dirty glare.
"i know about far too many things she did behind our parents back for her to do anything, she's all bark and no bite." you chuckled, grabbing the cones and leading leah over to the sports shed where everything was stored.
you were caught off guard as your wife closed the door and promptly pressed you against it, wasting no time connecting her lips to yours, not having a chance to show you much affection all afternoon.
"you know i might have paid attention in school if teachers looked like you my girl." the blonde rasped into your ear with a cheeky grin, peppering butterly kisses down your jaw as you smacked at her shoulder.
"i didn't know you had a teacher and student fantasy darling?" you teased, your wife rolling her eyes and nipping at your neck as you warned her firmly about leaving marks, reminding you were still in your workplace.
"i married you for your mind and not just your stunning good looks, obviously." leah tutted, grinning as she sweetly pecked your lips a few times and pushed off of you, moving to open the door but frowning as it didn't budge. "it's old, it gets stuck sometimes!" you rolled your eyes, but frowning as you tried but also couldn't budge it.
though as you glanced out the window and locked eyes with a familiar mop of blonde hair and a smirk, your eyes narrowed. "open it! right now alessia." you ordered firmly, yelling so she could hear you as your sister only cupped a hand to her ear with a confused frown, mocking that she couldn't hear you as katie doubled over with laughter, stood beside her.
"russo." leah intervened, pushing you lightly out of the way as you opened your mouth to let your sister have it, your wife sending the younger girl a stern look who huffed, rolling her eyes and disappearing, the sound of movement indicating she'd removed whatever was blocking the door.
"you know in any other circumstances i'd have taken full advantage of being locked in a room with you mrs williamson." leah husked out in your ear, hands teasingly roaming your body beneath your polo as her lips pressed a tender kiss behind your ear.
"if you're trying to distract me from murdering alessia, it's not working." you huffed, your wife tugging you away from the door and once more holding you against it, pressing her lips to yours in a bruising kiss, removing the air from your lungs.
"better?" leah pulled away with a smug smile, pressing one more kiss to your lips as you nodded a little dazed and leah opened the door.
"alessia you better start running!"
leah rolled her eyes and folded her arms over her chest, stepping out of the sports shed and standing beside steph and katie with a shake of her head, watching as you chased after your sister.
that was her girl, and she loved you endlessly for it.

notes: i saw one (1) tiktok with this fucking glorious fourth of july outfit and somehow this happened. consider this fanfic to be my application to be invited to your 4th of july party next year (yes, you specifically). enjoy the filth <3 (also highly recommend listening to national anthem by lana while reading!)
The sound of the sprinklers rotating on the lawn in front of your window and the slamming of a truck door alerted you that your father was back with the last minute groceries. You quickly got up, heading out to the driveway to help carry the brown bags.
âTake those first, itâs ice cream for the kids. Donât want it melting,â he advised as he busied himself with grabbing the cooler off the truck bed, disappearing towards the garden, the fence running along it already decorated with red, white and blue, matching the tablecloths and flags hung from the large tree in your backyard to the porch.
You had just got back from college for the summer and had been more than ready to enjoy your time off as you usually did, by lounging in the sun behind your house or going for a swim in the neighborâs pool. The honeymoon phase of holidays, before they turned into the unavoidable boredom that followed once all reunions had been completed and, at the same time, reminded you precisely why youâd gotten out of the small neighborhood in Austin at your first chance.
The bag youâd brought home was still on the floor in your room, barely half unpacked. Sitting on top of it was the outfit you had picked out weeks agoâat the precise moment your father had called to let you know it was your family's turn to host your street's traditional barbecue on the Fourth of July.
A blue and white checkered bikini, the bottoms made of much less fabric than youâd ever seen sold in Austin. A pair of shorts that seemed barely bigger, cut low enough to give a peak of the set belowâand a crop top, the words âMiss Americaâ splayed across your chest in curved, red letters, complete with two red bows attached to the straps. You were certain that, if your father still had a say in your clothing choices, this would not goâand that was precisely why it was perfect. If your father hated it, so would his best friend.
Joel Miller had been little more than your kind next-door neighbor for yearsâuntil youâd come back from college for your first break. Suddenly, you questioned how for years youâd been able to miss the way his shirt strained over his broad shoulders or the small grunts that left him when he was tinkering with his truck in the driveway.
You ignored your fatherâs muttered comments about your outfit as you returned to the kitchen a few minutes later and busied yourself with the last few preparations.
âItâs what all the girls at college wear.â He shook his head but stayed quiet.
Joel and Sarah arrived a little later than the other guests, greeting your father as they stepped into the backyard and you caught something about a mess-up at the construction site as the two men embraced. You turned your attention towards Sarah, who excitedly asked your opinion about her new sneakers and didnât run off to join the other kids playing football at the far end of the backyard until you reassured her that they were indeed very cool, throwing in a comment about how youâd seen someone at University wear themâmaking her positively beam.
You turned towards the house just in time to see Joelâs eyes land on you. Oh boy.
His gaze trailed down your body, tracing your curves, no doubt taking in the shape of your body. It took him a few moments to snap out of it, shifting as his gaze returned to your face before he hesitantly crossed the space between you. The polite, strained expression on his face told you exactly how hard he was trying to keep his eyes from wandering.
âBack from college then?â he asked, clearly keeping the conversation light. Though you did like to think, unlike many others, that he actually wanted to know. That he cared.
âFor the summer,â you responded, smiling up at him innocently, still aware of his eyes on you.
âHow dâyou like it?â Joel placed a hand on his hip, looking at you expectantly.
âIt's good. A little exhausting sometimes. Lots of studying.â You grinned as you saw him raise a brow.
âStudying, eh?â There was something twinkling in his eyes, a certain sense of mischief you hadn't seen in him before. âThat what all the kids do up there these days?â
âThat and a few parties,â you admitted with a small smirk. âYou know, finding the balance of life. But college boys areââ
Both your heads flew around as you heard your dad call your name and for a second, your heart felt like it stopped. You'd wanted to tease Joel by talking about college boys, not reveal your love life to your father. But clearly, he hadn't heard. âGet Joel a beer, will you?â
Joel opened his mouthâbut then he shook his head. His voice sounded strained as he spoke. âBeer sounds good.â
You led him towards the cooler, reaching down to grab two bottles, handing one to him. A bemused smile played around his lips as he nodded towards the bottle still clutched in your hand. âYour old man letting you sneak beers?â
âHe doesn't have to,â you said with a satisfied smirk, grabbing the bottle opener and handing it to him. âTurned twenty-one this spring.â
You could see Joel's hand shaking slightly as he opened his beer before motioning for you to give him yours and doing the same for you. âQuite the gentleman,â you mumbled, taking in the way his green flannel sat a bit too tight around his broad chest.
âYou don't know half of it.â
During the afternoon, the light blue sky seemed to be celebrating the holiday as much as the people below it. The barbecue was fired up by your father, the other fathers gathering around as he explained the new, improved features, making you roll your eyes. You drifted back and forth between the adults and the children, joining the latter for a few rounds of football until the sun began to set.
Joel kept his distance and, with a slightly heavy heart, you followed his lead. He was rather quiet but still, you could see his eyes flying towards you occasionally. You began to wonder if you had miscalculated.
When the salad bowl ran low for the second time, you volunteered yourself to head inside to refill it. You had barely placed it on the kitchen counter when you felt him standing in the doorway, leaning casually against the dark wood. His eyes trailed down your form more slowly than before, leaving no doubt in your mind that the outfit had fulfilled its purpose of getting his attention.
âQuite a party.â His gaze was still not meeting yours, lingering on your chest.
âWait until they bring out the fireworks. My dad bought enough to light up the whole street.â Your voice shook slightly as you spoke.
Joel shook his head, a tiny smile forming on his face as he stepped forward. âAinât what I meant.â His hand brushed over your thigh and you sent an anxious glimpse out the window, making sure that you weren't in anyone's line of sight.
âIt's a pretty bikini,â Joel mumbled, lowering his voice. His thumb was brushing over the checkered fabric where it peeked out from under your shorts. âShame you aren't taking a swim in it.â
An involuntary breath left your throat as you felt his free hand coming up to your face, nudging your chin up slightly. You couldn't remember ever being so close to him, your brain going into overdrive as it tried to figure out which part of his face to commit to memory first. Desire burned in your core brighter than ever and between that and the beer possibly clouding your judgment, you bit your lip, sending the man in front of you a shy smile and yet abandoning all care. You'd be back to college in a few weeks. If this went wrong, you'd never have to speak to him again.
âIs that an offer?â
âDamn sure is, darling,â Joel mused, his hand squeezing your hip and you let out a small breath of relief.
You thanked all your lucky stars for the architect who had built your house some 50 years agoâand had clearly taken into account that you would one day need to sneak out the back door with your dads best friendâpreferably without being seen. It faced towards the high fence that separated your yard from the Millerâs, making it feel almost too easy for the two of you to sneak off.
You hadnât even reached the pool when you dropped your shirt and pants to the floor, making Joel whistle lowly behind you. âI was right. It is a fucking pretty bikini.â You felt your cheeks flush at the compliment, his eyes still raking over your body as his clothes joined yours on the floor, leaving him in only his boxers.
Youâd seen him shirtless a few times. When you'd brought over something you had borrowed and he was in the pool or the one time you'd been over to help Sarah with some homework and he'd just gotten out of the shower, a beige towel wrapped around his waist. Youâd felt like some fucking creep when you had recalled the sight of his naked chest, and the trail of hair leading further down, at night and slipped a hand between your own thighs, thinking that you stood no chance with the man who was frequently whispered about by the single ladies of the neighbourhood, despite rarely showing interest in them.
You lowered yourself into the water and felt it ripple around you as Joel followed. The next moment, he was beside you, pushing you towards the other edge of the pool, strong arms caging you in on either side. You could still hear the party going on behind the fence, voices and music, the smell of barbecue drifting through the air. And a few lightsâtiny holes in the fence allowing them to travel through, the warm glow reflecting on the surface of the pool.
Joel growled as he nipped at your skin, hard enough that you already knew it'd leave marks. Good.
âCan't let you go back to college without something to remind you of me,â he muttered and you sucked in a breath in response, the words going straight to your core. His teeth scraped over the notch between your collarbones and you felt a moan begin to travel up your throat. Before it could escape however, Joel's hand clasped firmly over your mouth, forcing you to breathe through your nose as your eyes widened slightly.
âDon't want your dad hearing us, do you?â Joel muttered and indeed you could hear the voice of your father booming through the night air as he delivered some punchline to a no doubt stupid joke. You shook your head softly and that seemed to satisfy Joel because the next moment, his hand left your mouth and began to slide down your body, trailing over it the same way his eyes had earlier tonight. Your breath hitched in your throat as you felt his index finger circle drawing shapes on your hip before slipping under your bikini, brushing past your clit and settling between your folds.
âHard to tell in here but feels like youâre wet for me,â Joel muttered with a grin and you bit your lip, voice hoarse as you tried to keep quiet.
âTook you long enough to notice,â you teasedâand the reaction was immediate. He pushed you further against the side of the pool, trapping you with his broad body.
âWatch it.â His index finger moved upwardsâand the next moment, your walls were clenching around it, already begging for more. You felt a second finger drawing large circles around your clit againâwhen a noise on the other side of the fence made both of you pause, heads swiveling around just in time to see a football land on the lawn.
He cursed under his breath, pushing himself off you and dragging you to the end of the pool least visibly from the house. The deck was raised high enough above the water that if you squeezed yourself against the wall, you just may not be seenâespecially in the dark. Once he had pushed you into the corner, he was about to follow when your eyes widened. âJoel, the clothes,â you whispered in a panicked voice.
âFuck,â he muttered under his breath and crossed the pool in a few strokes, climbing back onto the porch. You watched, holding your breath, as he looked around, finally locating two towels and throwing one over the mixed pile of clothes and wrapping the other around his waist. No second too late, because the next moment one of the men who had marveled at your dads new barbecue earlier strode over the lawn. âMiller, hey! Whatâre you doing out here?â
Even in the water, you felt your knees go weak. Joel was dripping wet, his cheeks flushedâyour only hope was that the other man was either too drunk or too stupid to realize what was happening.
âHeard something thud against the wall.â You heard Joel respond. âWas just taking a shower, Tony spilled his beer all over my shirt earlier.â
The other man let out a small laugh. âYeah, heâs wasted.â You couldn't see him from where you were standing but you heard him pick up the ball as an idea popped into your head. You shifted slightly, knowing your movement would be visible to Joel, who was still in your sightâand after a moment, you held up your bikini bottoms, smiling innocently. Joel's eyes flickered towards you for a split secondâand even in the dark you could see his body tense, adjusting the towel around his waist as the veins on his neck bulged with restraint.
Footsteps told you the other man was leaving, until they paused again. His voice rang through the yard once more. To your horror, it was your name that filled the air. âDo you know where she went? Her father was looking for her I think.â
Joel's face twitched before he forced himself to smile. âNo clue. Maybe calling a secret college boyfriend.â
He waited until the man's laughter had drifted away and joined with the noises of the party again before he dropped the towel, his cock straining at the fabric of his boxers.
As soon as he was back in the pool, he was upon you, cowering over you with a hard expression on his face, snatching the small piece of fabric from your hand. âThink itâs fucking funny?â He muttered, his eyes flying over your face.Â
The alcohol was definitely having an effect on you because you grinned, nodding weakly. âA little bit.â
Joel actually fucking growled at that.
He made short work of your bikini top, yanking it off to gather your breasts in his large hands, squeezing slightly. âThat fucking mouth of yours, darling.â
âShould shut me up,â you muttered back and his eyes briefly searched yours before his mouth was on yours. Neither of you were gentle, much too impatient for soft kisses. His tongue slipped into your mouth, his teeth grazed over your lip and you could feel the vibrations of his groans traveling right from his throat into yours.
When he broke the kiss, you whined in protest, wrapping your own arms around him to pull him closer, making him groan as his still covered cock brushed against your stomach. âGoddamn, baby, you gonna let me fuck you?â
Joel didn't even flinch when you softly bit down on his earlobe. âLike you have to ask, Miller.â
His last name seemed to do as much to him as it did to you because his hands briefly left your sides to yank his boxers down, throwing them carelessly onto the lawn behind you. âGet your ass up here,â he commanded as he hoisted you up and you automatically wrapped your legs around his waist, feeling his cock nudge at your entrance.
Joel swallowed and you could see him struggling to restrain himself. âDo you want me to go and get-â
âGot it covered,â you said impatiently before he could even finish the sentence.
âYou sure?â He asked again and you nodded impatiently. And then he was finally pushing his hips upwards, his cockhead parting your lips, requesting entrance. You let your body fall into his rhythm, sinking down on him, forcing a whimper from your throat.
You barely heard the shuffling behind the fence and the voices getting more muted as the party seemed to be moved towards the street, further away from you.
âIt ainât your first time, is it, sweetheart?â Joel suddenly piped up, watching your expression carefully and you could distinctly hear the note of concern in his voice. But you shook your head.
âTold you,â you breathed out. âCollege boys.â
âThis gonna be better than any damn college boy,â Joel mumbled, a grunt leaving his throat as he began to thrust up into you properly, driving any worry out of your mind.
âYou knew what you were doing to me tonight?â He muttered, causing you to shake your head despite the fact that you knew exactly, even planned, to do it to him. You wanted to give a snarky response, something smart, but you could barely think straight with his cock nestled so deep inside of you.
âMade me hard all throughout dinner, thinking about all the things i could do with you,â Joel answered his own question before changing his angle slightly, his arms wrapped tightly around you. âFuck, doing so good for me, darling.â
âJoelââ you choked out, feeling the orgasm that had been lingering for what felt like forever now approaching rapidly. âWant you to come inside, pleaseââ
His eyes darkened as he nodded. And then, suddenly a sparkling light reflected in his eyesâfollowed by a loud bang far above you. The fireworks had started.
It only took a few more thrusts and Joel's finger returning to your clit to send you rushing towards your orgasm, your fingernails scratching over his back so hard that you were certain you were not going to be the only one with something to remember tomorrow.
âCome on,â Joel edged you on. âShow me how pretty you look coming on my cock, baby.â
And you did, groaning as your body tensed, the feeling inside your stomach so similar to the exploding fireworks above, with Joel following suit, obeying your wish and spilling himself deep inside of you as you clung on to him, so content to finally, finally carry him so deep inside, the thought traveling right to your core again as he gathered you in his arms, both of you tilting your heads back enough to watch the sky above sparkle in different colors.
âHappy fourth, Joel.â
He pressed a kiss to your cheek. âHappy fucking fourth, darling.â
He gathered the clothes in his arms, whispering promises and praise as he led you up the stairs to his bathroom, having insisted to at least get you clean before letting you sneak back home. His hands brushed over your naked skin, causing you to raise a brow. âI thought we were gonna take a shower?â âOh, I'm not nearly done with you,â Joel muttered in your ear, causing you to smirk. You reached for your clothes but Joel only gave a small tut. âYouâll get them back. Just notââ He raised the checkered bikini bottom. âThis. Iâm keeping that.â
thank you for reading! every time you leave a comment, a firework explodes over joel miller fucking in a pool btw :)

a/n: hey there! i never actually planned on writing a sequel to â9 pmâ but a few anons asked about it and i liked the idea of giving them some happiness following that fic! the perfect title gave me the idea for the fic and here we are âşď¸ i hope you guys enjoy!!
word count: 2.8k
tw: brief and minor mention of a miscarriage, pregnancy
direct sequel to 9 p.m. in vancouver
summary: andreiâs off on a road trip and youâre more exhausted than normal. once you realize why, you have to call andrei immediately
Itâs barely ten at night and youâre falling asleep on the couch, Friends rerun playing at a low volume on the TV. Your blinks get longer, eyelids heavy, while Joey yells about the Coast Guard.
A yawn creaks at your jaw and you try to blink away some of the sudden exhaustion in your body. It doesnât really work, another yawn catching you a few minutes later. You wrap your arms around one of the throw pillows, cheek smashed up against the pillow tucked under your head.
Itâs been a long few days, work overwhelming you and Andrei up in the tri-state area for a mini road trip. The Canes had lost to the Flyers before beating the Devils. Theyâre currently up two goals on the Rangers, according to your NHL app updates, with just a few minutes left in the third.
The team will spend the night in the city before heading to Long Island for the second half of a back to back tomorrow.
Itâs a grueling schedule so early in the season, four games in six days, and you know Andrei will be exhausted when he gets home on Monday morning. At least theyâre off for two days before hitting the ice for a home game on Wednesday. You yawn again and decide vaguely that maybe youâll go to the game, if you can keep your eyes open. Itâs been a while since you went to the arena and you miss watching Andrei play live.
You canât help but think briefly about the game in Vancouver last November, almost a year ago now, and your hand drifts to your stomach.
The baby wouldâve been four months old, probably keeping you wide awake right now.
You donât really think about the loss as much anymore, you can go long stretches of time without thinking about him - because youâd decided that it was a boy, even though it was too early to ever tell. Your due date had come around at the end of July and Andrei had spirited you out of the country, the both of you quiet and moody for a few days.
And then training camp had started and youâd gotten busy with work and then the season started and you didnât dwell on the loss for a while.
But now itâs late and youâre tired and you havenât seen Andrei in a few days and you should be cuddling a baby right now.
A few tears trickle down your temple and you swipe at them, emotion clogging your throat.
âGod, get a grip,â you mutter to yourself, shaking your head slightly. Itâs not even like youâre on your period to be so hormonal right now. Your brain takes a second to process the thought and when it does, your eyes widen and you kick your legs out, struggling with the blanket to try and sit up.
âOh, oh my god,â you scramble for your phone, tossing blankets around until you hear the tell-tale thunk of the phone hitting the floor. You lunge for it, the TV remote going flying, but you barely pay attention to that as your fingers wrap around the loop on the back of your phone case and snatch it off the floor.
Your hands shake violently as you unlock your phone and thumb over to find your period tracker app. The app takes seconds to load, seconds where your heart beats wildly and your vision goes a little blurry. You mutter, âcome on, faster, faster,â under your breath and suddenly the screen loads and there in the center of the screen, in bold font, is the notice that your period has been late for more than thirty days.
Youâve missed two periods.
Without even realizing it.
To be fair to yourself, after the miscarriage, everything was thrown off and youâve only had seven or eight periods in the past year. So itâs not totally crazy that you didnât realize you missed two cycles.
Your stomach lurches a little bit and you chew at your lower lip. You probably should take a test. But do you want to know without Andrei, again?
It didnât work out so well last time.
Youâre probably not even pregnant, you rationalize, itâs the stress of a new season starting and your body getting back to normal.
Never mind the fact that youâve long been cleared to get pregnant again and your gynaecologist hadnât said anything was wrong at your last appointment.
Your phone vibrates in your hand, nearly scaring the shit out of you. Itâs just a notification from the NHL app - sometime in the last few minutes, while youâd been spiralling, the Rangers had tied the game and it was going to overtime.
Overtime anxiety is better than maybe-pregnant anxiety, so you tune into Bally, the sudden brightness of the glare off the ice making you blink. Youâre half-heartedly paying attention, fingers tapping against your thigh while the players zip up and down the ice, trading scoring chances. Andreiâs on the ice for a shift and then heâs back on the bench. Pyotr makes a save and then another and then he doesnât.
You frown at the TV, watching Andrei and the guys file off the ice, miserable for the teamâs loss. You change the channel back to Nick at Nite, not interested in seeing the post-game analysis of the loss.
The audience laughter from the show echoes around the living room and you chew at your lower lip anxiously. Andrei wonât be back to his hotel room for hours, the post-game process already underway, but between media, a shower, and the travel. Well, itâll be at least close to midnight before you can talk to him.
Heâll reassure you that youâre overthinking, that itâs nothing. But a quiet part of your brain is insistent that youâre pregnant and it just wonât shut up.
The smartest thing would be to take a test, find out once and for all if youâre even going to mention anything to Andrei. Youâre pretty sure thereâs no tests left after last time and if there are, theyâre probably expired.
Your fingers tap at the screen of your phone almost by memory, the Google search showing that thereâs a twenty-four hour CVS just a ten minute drive away.
The episode ends and another begins while you sit on that information, giving yourself a moment to imagine what youâll do if the test is positive. He has to know immediately this time, you donât think youâd be able to wait.
âOh fuck it,â you mutter to yourself, pushing the blankets off your legs and getting up from the couch. Your vision goes fuzzy, briefly, the blood rushing from your head. You blink and everything shifts back into focus, your heart hammering a little.
Before you can overthink it, you turn off the TV and head for the front door, making a stop at the front hall closet to grab a jacket. Your fingers close around the sleeve of one of Andreiâs, the jacket dwarfing your frame as you slip your arms into the sleeves. You shove your feet into a ratty pair of Uggs and drop a faded Canes ball cap on your head.
You look insane, more like a college kid doing a walk of shame than a married woman, but Andreiâs scent embedded deep into the collar of his jacket is comforting you.
At CVS, you grab at the pregnancy test boxes like a woman possessed - Clear Blue, First Response, and the CVS generic brand all go into your basket, along with a bag of pumpkin shaped Reeseâs Cups and a pack of Twizzlers. Something about the waxy, artificial strawberry ropes seems appealing right now.
Thank God for self-checkout, you donât think you can face another person right now.
The pregnancy tests feel like they weigh a million pounds in the plastic bag and you gnaw anxiously on a Twizzler as you drive back home.
Itâs well after midnight by the time you manage to drink enough water in order to pee on all the sticks and this round is more anxiety producing than when youâd done it over a year ago. Once youâre done, you set the timer on your phone and flip each stick over on the counter, so you canât see the displays.
Instead of waiting in the bathroom, which is feeling small and stuffy despite how large it actually is, you pace around your bedroom for the few minutes it takes for your timer to count down. You wonder if you could call Andrei now, be on the phone with him when you look at the display, but if youâre not pregnant and heâs on the phone, heâll be disappointed right before the next set of games. Heâs been talking about it a little more lately, in the abstract, how nice itâll be to have a baby one day. And you maybe havenât been as enthusiastic as heâs been, so you donât want to get his hopes up.
If youâre not pregnant, Andrei doesnât need to know that you worried yourself into a tizzy over nothing.
But if you are? Well, Andrei will be the first call anyway.
The timer goes off on your phone and the sudden, shrill noise makes you jump. Your stomach lurches and you flatten your palm over it. Underneath the anxiety, thereâs a little bubble of excitement growing, the thought of a baby providing a little spark of joy.
You wander back into the bathroom and close your eyes before flipping the tests over with shaking hands.
The plastic clatters against the countertop and you squint one eye open and then the other, vision focusing on the little displays.
âOh!â You gasp, eyes immediately filling with tears, hands flying up to cover your mouth.
All three are positive, the little Clear Blue display declaring you âPregnantâ in tiny letters.
Tears slip down your cheeks and you start giggling wildly, overwhelmed in the best possible way. Your hands press on your stomach, palms flat and fingers splayed.
âHey there, baby,â you murmur, looking down. âStay safe in there, okay? We want to meet you.â
The tears fall faster and you wipe at them with your shoulder, a damp splotch forming on the fabric of your sweatshirt. Itâs so late, but you need to tell Andrei, and you move on autopilot, climbing onto your bed and finding your phone among the messy covers - the bed hasnât been made in two days because Andrei is more of a stickler for that than you are and you like to get right back into the nest of blankets at the end of the day. Itâs on your list of things to do before heâs back in a few days. Now, you pile yourself into a little cocoon of the blankets and comforters, warm and happy.
You text him first, just a quick âyou awake?â that you know heâs going to read as a request for phone sex.
True enough, your phone vibrates in your hand a few seconds later, Andreiâs name at the top of the screen. You grin and slide the bar to answer, âhey there.â
âIs late,â he replies, a faint laugh in his tone. âThought you would be sleeping.â
âNo,â you giggle, feeling a little unhinged. âNot asleep. Couldnât sleep. Um, are you alone?â
Your husband laughs fully now, the sound echoing over the line. âSolnyshka, been a long day. I love you, but we have early morning,â he teases and the rumble of his voice makes you smile.
âNo, not for that you perv,â you shoot back, twisting your fingers in a loose thread. âI wanted to talk to you about something.â
You know youâre sounding vague and strange, but to his credit, Andrei doesnât call you out on it. Instead, heâs quiet for a second before your phone vibrates against your ear, signalling an incoming text. You pull the phone from your ear and tap over to your messages, laughing when you see the picture Andrei just sent.
The hotel room is nearly pitch black, but you can still make out the shape of Martin NeÄas passed out in his bed with what looks like an eye mask covering his face. Andreiâs grinning face is cut off in the corner of the picture.
âGuess thatâs a yes then,â you smile, bringing the phone back to your ear.
âNeci has earplugs in too,â Andrei informs you. âSays I snore, which is lie.â
Itâs not, but you donât feel like relitigating that particular point with him right now. So you move on.
âI know I shouldâve waited, done something cute, but Iâm bursting,â you let the words come out in a rush, feeling lightheaded with excitement. âI couldnât, I had to tell you right away, Drei, baby, Iâm pregnant.â
Andreiâs silent on the other end and a slightly manic laugh bubbles out of your mouth while you wait for him to say something.
âPregnant?â He repeats, sounding like heâs just taken a blow to the stomach - winded and hoarse. âLike, with baby?â
âYeah, mhm,â you hum, just letting the news soak in. Andreiâs breathing is audible in your ear, a soft âhuhâ puffing out.
He starts to laugh and you can hear the grin in his voice when he says, âoh, solnyshka, fuck, Iâm⌠ya chertovski schastliv.â
He slips into Russian and youâre not totally familiar with the words, but he repeats them in English, âIm so fucking happy. Are you okay? How you feel?â
âIâm okay, I was feeling a little tired earlier,â you say. âThatâs kind of why I took the test, just to see.â
Without asking, Andrei switches the call to a FaceTime and you pull the phone back, his grinning face taking up the entire screen. He looks lighter and happier than he has in months and the sight of him, of that smile that you love so much, makes you emotional.
âI wish I could kiss you,â he shakes his head, still smiling. âHold you, something other than smile like idiot on phone.â
âIâm just happy to see your smile,â you say truthfully. A hug wouldnât be unwelcome, but just seeing Andreiâs face has you calmer. âItâs late,â you continue, catching sight of the time in the top left corner of your phone - nearly 1:30 in the morning. âYou should get some sleep.â
The adrenaline is starting to wear off now and you slump back against the pillows and headboard.
Andrei nods. âCall me when you get up,â he requests, phone bouncing slightly as he shifts on the bed. âWe leave early, but call any time, okay?â
âOkay,â you promise, pressing your lips together to smother a yawn. âHey, I love you.â
âYa tebya lyublyu,â Andrei replies in Russian, warm and awed. âYou and baby, both.â
Youâre both quiet for a bit, comfortable and sleepy, reluctant to end the call. You just want to enjoy his long-distance presence and this little bubble, but eventually Martin lets out a snore on his side of the room, startling you since you forgot he was there. Andrei laughs faintly and reluctantly ends the call, after telling you he loves you again.
Now that Andrei knows, your whole body relaxes and you sink happily into the nest of blankets and pillows, curled up in a c-shape, one hand on your stomach.
Thereâs a million things to figure out in the coming days, weeks, and months, a million worries to ruminate on, but for now, you fall asleep with a smile on your face and pure happiness bubbling in your stomach.
The next morning, you snooze your alarm and allow yourself to wake up slowly and lazily. Itâs an easy morning and you donât plan on getting out of bed until you hear the doorbell ring.
With a grumble, you climb out of bed and shove your feet into a pair of slippers to pad downstairs, wondering who could be at the door this early.
Itâs a delivery man, half-hidden behind a huge bouquet of flowers. You accept it, surprised at the delivery but not at the sender.
The oversized bouquet made up of baby roses, babyâs breath, and a few other types all in various shades of baby pink and baby blue can only be from your husband. Your face hurts from the size of your smile and you dig out the little card from between a pale pinks rose and a light blue hydrangea.
âI love you, we will celebrate as soon as I am home. A hug and a kiss from New York for you, mama. -Aâ
Itâs not Andreiâs handwriting, but you trace your fingers over the letters and feel tears well up. Any concerns or worries you might have about having a baby are pushed aside.
Andreiâs going to be the best dad and youâre so lucky to be doing this with him.

I want to play with Percyâs hair until he forgets the weight of the world đđđ my man fr (fem!reader)
Peace - Percy Jackson x fem!reader
warning: established relationship, percy is a spiderman fan
a/n: I LOVE PERCY SO MUCH OMG! That man deserves some peace istg.
It was the end of July. A few days before the summer session of camp ended and Percy would go back to school while you stayed at camp.
You had had a rather uneventful summer for once and just enjoyed being together, which is why you were now sitting at the beach, his head in your lap. Annabeth and Grover had left about 30 minutes ago, leaving the two of you to watch the sunset by yourself.
Percy had been rather quiet for the last 10 minutes when you decided to ask him about it.
"Hey Perce?"Â He hummed in reply not taking his eyes of the waves infront of you.
"You're being uncharacteristicly quiet. Whats going on in that pretty head of yours?"
He finally shifted his eyes from the water up to your face. His brows slightly furrowed in worry and anxiety.
"Dont you think this summer was way to quiet?" You looked at him in confusion. "What do you mean?"
He reached his Hand up to grab yours, that was resting on your knee next to his head, and intertwined is fingers with yours.Â
"Just... since i first came to camp i've not had a single year that we didnt have to, essentially, save the world. This just doesnt feel right. I just keep thinking that something is gonna happen."
Your face softens in understanding. Smiling, you reach your other hand down to his hair, softly running you fingers through the black strands, slightly scratching his scalp with your nails.
"I know what you mean. This is really the first year we've had actual peace. But i think we should take advantage of that. Who knows when we'll get this again. Worrying wont do us any good. We should relax while we can. If something does happen, well take care of it when the time comes. Like we always do. Try to relax Darling."Â
He hummed again, sighing at the feeling of your hands in his hair. He had always loved when you did that. It wasnt unusual for him to ask you to do it when he was stressed or anxious. It calmed him down more than anything else.
You smile softly, before leaning down to press a soft, upside down kiss to his lips. Percy grinned when you pulled back.Â
"Really? The spiderman kiss?" You rolled your eyes playfully. Percy loved spiderman and you had watched his favorite one just a few days ago. "Oh shush."
Chuckling to himself he relaxed back against your legs closing his eyes as you continued to run your fingers through his hair. Your other hand, still holding Percys, was laying against his chest now, right over his heart.
You looked down at him, his bbody and face starting to look more relaxed by the second, smiling to yourself. Your hand tracing over his nose, starting from the tip, smoothing over the worried crease between his eyebrows, up to his forehead before slipping into his hair again.Â
Hair that now, in the almost gone sunlight, shimmered with a slight purplish tint. The normal blue undertone of his black hair mixing with the red light from the sinking sun. It looked good.
At this point percy started to drift of to a state between awake and asleep, finally looking relaxed and you shifted you eyes up to the calm water of the long island sound, glowing orange, the sun almost fully gone now. You smiled to yourself thinking of how far youve come and how lucky you were to be here. With your boyfriend and your two best friends.Â
You squeezed percys hand with yours, feeling him squeeze back despite not being fully awake.
You were glad that you could make him relax like this. His worry melting away this easily. You felt honoured to be that person for him.Â
"I love you Percy" You mumbled no expecting the half asleep waterboy in your lap to even hear you.
Despite that he mumbled back in a daze. "I love you too Sweetheart"
You really were lucky.

hi !!
i'm pretty sure it was me w the perfume request! (my brain is so scattered i barely remember what i asked for but!! i'm so so excited to read it when you're done <33) (btw i'm loving the spencer fics and i'm psyched for more, your writing is so beautiful đĽšđŤśđź)
A/N: Thank you so much for your request! It was exactly the one I lost. Hope you like it, I had a lot of fun with it đŤśđź.
Also no one asked but I'm a firm believer that Hotch is a Grey Vetiver by Tom Ford guy, or he should be!
At exactly 9:18 the sound of the elevator opening interrupts the quiet morning, Aaron Hochner walks out heading briskly towards his office, coat over his shoulders and briefcase in hand, nodding in greeting to the rest of the team who collectively turn to stare at him with various degrees of confusion plastered on their faces.Â
âI was about to call a S.W.A.T team,â Says Emily, stopping him in his tracks âagain.âÂ
At that Hotch finally turns to face them, his usually pristine white shirt wrinkled like he had picked it off the floor that morning.Â
âExcuse he?â He asks, brow arched.Â
Derek lets out a laugh at this, languidly spinning his chair from side to side but before he can say anything JJ, ever the mediator, interrupts âYouâre just not usually this late, we were starting to worry.â
âYeah, cuz yâknow you have a bad track recordâ Says Penelope with a grimace, sheâs perched by Morgan's desk toying with a feathery pink pen while she talks. Â
âThey were worried, I just knew you were maybe having some fun for onceâ Derek chimes in with a smile, letting out a huff when Pen pokes his side with her pen.Â
âThereâs no need to make a scene out of it, Iâm sure I've been late plenty of times beforeâ He tries to say in a stern enough tone that theyâll hopefully drop the subject.Â
It would be easy to classify it as merely teasing but Hotch knew the entire team worried about him, namely about his lack of a social life outside of work. And usually he would entertain their banter for longer but he really is late today and he can already feel the beginning of a headache forming.Â
âActually," Spencer adds without looking up from his paperâthis year, you were only late three times, the last one being about two and a half months ago on July when you had a flat tire and had to wait for triple Aâ.
âThank you for that, Spencerâ Hotch says, shooting him a look.
âNo problemâ  Â
âNothing happened, I just got stuck in a bad pile up on my way there and I was already cutting it close beforehand, so if you all could focus back on your files that would be great, we have to present our consults before 5 todayâ He says trying, and failing to regain a modicum of authority.Â
Just when he thought that they had tired themselves out, the elevator opens up again and you spill out of it, carrying with you the floral scent of your perfume and a dazzling smile that spells nothing but trouble for him. The kind that makes him stay up until 2am in the middle of the week and turns what was meant to be a quick shower into a half hour delay.Â
âHello hello, sorry for being so late, there was a bad bad pile up on my way hereâ You speak without pausing once for breath, your heels click clacking on your way to your desk where you unceremoniously dump your coat and purse on top of your desk. Heading for the kitchen to brew a new pot of coffee.Â
On your way there you playfully ruffle Spencerâs hair and wink at Pen, who canât help but comment on your good mood âWell arenât you happy this morning missyâÂ
You make eye contact with him for a split second and Hotch can feel his throat dry up, he always felt like you breathed life into any room you walked in, the sun patterns following your steps whenever you went. So it makes sense that even now in the middle of fall he feels something warm settle over him even with such a brief look.Â
He thinks heâs been staring at you for hours when it couldnât have been more than a couple of seconds, by the time he snaps out of it he finds Emily regarding him with a quizzical eye and a smile that does nothing for his brewing headache.Â
âWell, Iâve just been having a very nice weekâ You reply pointedly âeven went and got myself a new perfumeâ He did, actually, but itâs not like you can say that.Â
Seeing an out in the conversation he starts once more to go towards his office before heâs interrupted, once again, by one Emily Prentiss.Â
âHuhâ She says, pinning him down with a perfectly arched eyebrow
âWhat?â He asks exasperated, quickly losing his patience.Â
âArenât you testy today?â She teases âI was just thinking about the fact that you both got stuck in traffic, despite coming from opposite sides of the city, thatâs allâ And with a nonchalant shrug of her shoulders thatâs anything but, she turns to work on her files.Â
You pop out of the kitchen carrying with you two expertly done mugs of coffee, and even better timing, hastily sitting by Emilyâs desk and leaving one mug in front of her.Â
âI was hoping you could look over one of my cases with me? Iâve been stuck for ages and I could use a fresh set of eyes?âÂ
âSo this is bribery coffee?â
âNo, the bribe is the very nice bottle of red I have back at my place thatâs all yours next girls night, the coffee is just because Iâm a delight to be aroundâ You reply grinning at her.Â
Emily huffs a laugh and with everyone distracted Hotch finally makes his escape, shutting his office door and basking in the blissful quiet of his office.Â
He spends the next hour and a half failing to fill expense reports, his mind wandering to your hair splayed on the pillows this morning; you staring up at him in the shower, a droplet of water running from the bridge of your nose to rest on your lip being kissed away by him. The exact dazzling smile from this morning but all his to keep.
The lost twenty minutes after dressing he spend with you pressed against the entrance door, your hands running over his back. Â
With an hour left to go before lunch and a creek in his neck from leaning his head on his palm all morning he gives up and goes to get himself his second coffee of the day.
In the kitchenette right by the vending machine is his headache personified, getting herself a bag of skittles.Â
While he makes his coffee Emily pauses next to him and extends the bag of candy in a silent offer that he declines with a shake of his head, right before leaving she says âI do love the new cologne, very summery fresh, but just a heads up, I do think she wears it better than youâÂ

Sat in the airport, legs over your luggage, you started to question the decision you had made a month ago. It all started in June, when an old colleague from LSU reached out to you via email with a simple, yet â to you â terrifying invitation.
Your colleagues from university were planning a Fourth Of July party in Baton Rouge, the one place in earth you swore to never step foot on again. Well, it's not like the city itself had done anything to you, more like the college life did. Your college years were a part of your life you desperately wanted to forget, partly because going to LSU meant giving up on your dream of studying abroad, and partly, well, let's just say a certain blonde with a degree on consumer and family financial services was to blame.
With an acute voice echoing through the airport gates, you sighed, getting up to get on the plane.
As the aircraft was in the air, you get your playlist blasting on the headphones and not long after that, you drift off to sleep.
You wake up when there's 20 minutes left to land on the city, and as you get your phone to send a message to your friend, Emily, the device decides to make this trip a little harder than it should have ever been. On that bright screen, on a small box with "Years ago on this week.." written over it, was the picture.
It was night when you woke up, tangled on the white strawberry sheets of your own dorm bed. Opening your eyes quietly, you saw the one man that had put you on that position earlier. Sat with his back to you, there was Joe. He had only his sweatpants on, and you could see the reddish marks, the ones caused by you, were starting to fade on his skin. His hair was messy and he breathed slowly, seeming oddly calm giving what had just happened.
Joe and you had been, well.. enemies? since you could remember. It all started in school, you had a dream of becoming a world famous dancer, a cheerleader in college, and Joe just thought it was stupid, all of it. He was quite shy, but you knew he had a dream as well. Joe wanted to be a football star, but nobody knew that. He'd just let it slide once when you two were fighting on the school's playground. When you two got to the age in which people go to university, you thought you had finally seen the last of him. How foolish, truly. After two years of studying engineering at Louisiana State University and being in the cheerleading team, there he was, ready to make your life miserable for another few years.
That was, of course, until now. You'd never imagine you see him like this; half naked, messy hair and your cat on his lap as he caressed her head, whispering in a baby voice to her as she purred softly.
You smiled, because why wouldn't you? Shifting quietly on your bed, as if he was a scaredy animal you could scare away with any abrupt movements, you get your phone, taking a picture of him. It was dark, blurred, but you didn't mind, you could tell it was Joe, his big silhouette right in the center of the photograph. In your head, you knew you wouldn't need to keep this blurry memento, you were certain the amount of opportunities to take pictures of him now were infinite, or so you thought, drifting to sleep again.
The pilot's voice pulls you out of your little daydream, announcing the plane had arrived in Louisiana.
"I shouldn't have come." You chant in your head as you exit the plane, heading over to the landing area to wait for Emily.
You and Emily had met in LSU, and became inseparable since then. She was your roommate and, despite being highly introverted, you managed to develop your longest friendship ever with her.
When Anna, the colleague that invited you to the party, emailed you, Emily was the first person to text you, begging you to come and enjoy a night with the people you hadn't seen in so long. She also missed you a lot since both of you hadn't seen each other much after college, of course, you somehow managed to see each other every year and talk almost everyday, but it wasn't as close as you wished.
Emily lived in Louisiana with her husband, Dave, who had also gone to LSU with you, and of all the times you had seen each other, she had gone to your home, so you technically kind of owed this to her.
Waving in a frantic manner, there she was. Slightly different from last time, but still your best friend. You smile, walking towards her.
"I'm so glad you're here!" she says once she gets a hold of you, hugging you as if you could run away at any moment. You kind of wished you could, but she made everything better. She had that superpower.
"I'm glad I could come, Ems. I've missed you so much." You smile, looking at her as she helps you with your heavy bags.
The two of you start walking towards the exit to her car, catching up after a long time. Emily put you to date on what every single old colleague was up to now, and you laughed at the amount of gossip she was able to retain.
"Where's Dave?" You furrow your brows, just realizing someone was missing.
Emily opens the trunk and you help her put your bags on it. Panting after carrying so much weight, she replies "Home. He was working so he couldn't come, but he's super excited to see you." as you two get into the vehicle.
And with that, the engine starts and soon you're on the highway, on the way to her house.
The week in Emily and David's house had passed very quickly, and you throughly regretted ever wishing you hadn't came. She had shown you every bit of the city, and things had changed a lot. Now, you were in their guest room, getting ready to the reason that had you coming all the way from New York to Louisiana.
It was fourth of July, and you had heard fireworks all day around the neighborhood, even stopping to watch them for a bit before going for a shower.
"They're pretty, aren't they?" Emily said through the kitchen window as she saw you looking up outside.
"Very much." You turned around, smiling at her.
"Anna told me they're having fireworks tonight, I think you'll like it."
You got a bit excited, you've always loved fireworks, they were like drawings in the biggest canvas you could ever get, the sky.
"Looking forward to it!" You said, going up the stairs to get ready.
Looking in the mirror, you sigh. You wore an USA flag bodysuit and jean shorts. This whole patriotism seemed stupid, but Emily dragged you into it, alleging you were allergic to fun. Nonetheless, you looked good.
"Y/N! Let's go, we're gonna be late!"
Breathing in deeply, you close your eyes and stare at yourself one last time. You knew Joe would probably attend the party, he loved parties, and still, you came. You couldn't give up now, you couldn't get this stupid thing get to you. He probably doesn't even remembers everything that happened that day.
You shake your head, moving those thoughts away as you go downstairs, seeing Emily and Dave ready sitting on the couch.
"You look amazing! I told you you'd rock this fit." she gets up, hugging you.
"You too, Ems." you laugh, fixing your hair after she lets you go. "Shall we?"
"After you, Miss United States!" David jokes, signaling for you to get out of the house first. You laugh, rolling your eyes.
The three of you get in the car, and the drive to the party is filled with singing and more of Emily informing you of your colleague's current lives.
When Dave finally pulls over to the party, you can already hear the loud music in the car. Looking out the window, you see the last thing you'd expect to see today: Joe's parents house.
When Robin and Jim were away, Joe would always throw parties in his house instead of in the frat house. It made sense, giving the fact his house was a bit bigger. Snapping back to reality, you froze, but still had hopes of not seeing him tonight, after all, the amount of people that would come to the party was huge.
Entering the house, you were struck by fairy lights hanging on the roof, from a wall to another, and USA flags all over the house. There was a big wood table in a corner with punch and other drinks, but other than that, the place looked pretty much the same. It was weird coming back after all these years, but it still had a familiar air to it.
After almost 50 minutes, Emily was already drunk and fooling around somewhere with her fiancĂŠ. You were finally alone, and by now you had roamed the entire house, gladly not meeting Joe not even once. You thought about leaving, but not before going to your favorite spot in the house, the only one you hadn't explored today yet.
Joe's house had a small attic, which you adored. When he threw parties in high school and you couldn't get away from your friend's pleas to come, this was the place you found yourself in. So, after 6 years, there were you again. On that narrow wooden space that had a somewhat medium window with a view to the back of the house, where the party was most wild. You were surprised to see they hadn't moved a thing, it felt like you had time-traveled to your school years.
In front of the window, there was an old blue armchair, the one you would sometimes sleep on waiting for Emily and the others to want to go home. The rest of the attic was filled with boxes, some with trophies and pictures of Joe, with his family, his team, and his coach.
You sat on the armchair, arms hugging your knees as you looked at the window, the music that once made your head hurt because of the volume was long gone, sounding now like white noise.
Entering the football team frat house, you could see neon lights and hear music blasting through the speakers. Soon enough, all the other cheerleaders and Emily were dancing and having fun, after all the team had won the game, there was no reason not to celebrate. Except for you, because a win for LSU immediately meant running into Joe Burrow, or seeing his face all over the university for a week or so.
Sitting on a couch in the living room, you had a privileged view to the enormous door that swung open, revealing a sweaty but smiley Joe. He walks in as he normally does, exhaling an air of cockiness around him. He has a bottle of beer in hand, and already looks drunk as he laughs to his teammates. After being showered in praises and congratulations, he's free to walk a bit further, which is when he sees you. His eyes immediately glance at your jersey, and you immediately regret having done what you did.
Earlier that day, before you left for the party, it started to snow, and you realized you hadn't brought a single coat to the game. The girls were about to leave and they didn't want any delays, so you looked around for anything that could cover your body and protect you from freezing.
The only thing you could find was an old LSU football team jersey with the name "BURROW" stitched on the back. You sighed, but tried to confort yourself by thinking nobody would see it, after all, the lights at the party were pretty low.
All of it cumulated to this moment. This disgusting look he gives you as he looks down, glaring at his jersey. "What the hell are you wearing?â
Of course he would recognize it, it was his, after all. You cursed yourself mentally in all the languages you know, and prayed that Emily would come to you out of the blue to take you home. She didn't.
"Please, don't start, Joseph." You say, trying to ignore him. "I was cold and this was the only thing I could find."
âYeah, right. Just say you were trying to piss me off, like always.â he scowls.
"Not everything is about you, QB." You get up, furrowing your brows at the audacity, annoyance dripping in your voice.
âEverything is most definitely not about you either, cheerleader.â he scoffs, and his teammates laugh. âYou're still not even good at that.â
"And you're still not even good at your little games, idiot." I scoff. "Let me remind you, I'm the one going to the national competition while you're still playing football in college."
This time, his friends mutter a low "oooh".
He's stunned for a moment, then he scowls and gets closer to your face. âWatch your mouth. This is my last season here anyway, then iâm going straight to the NFL and everyone's gonna know my name, who knows what youâll be doing.â
You just still didn't know he actually meant it.
"The NFL?" You laugh, hands on your chest. "You know, Joey.." You say, calling him by the nickname his friends had given him, in an attempt to piss him off. "To be on the NFL, you gotta be one of the greats." You stare at him, getting closer. "Something you.. are not."
He scowls, and his friends are surprised, the nickname really got to him. Before you can get another word in, he grabs you and pulls you close, his voice is low and cold. âWho the fuck are you calling Joey? You donât get on the nickname level with me, Y/N."
Your squirm under his touch, trying to get off of him. A bit of fear seems to be creeping up in your eyes, and you try your best to not let it show.
"Don't fucking touch me!" You slap him, getting some inches away and staring at him in awe.
He recoils a bit, then glares. His lips are trembling, and youâve never seen him angry like this, even his breath is shaky. He doesn't look like the Joe you once fed turtles in kindergarten with. He clenches his fist and looks around, heâs got the attention of everyone at the party âAre you seriously gonna slap the quarterback?â
"Fuck you! You're a horrible person that thinks that because you're a star you can do whatever the fuck you want, well, breaking news, YOU CAN'T." You scoff, angrier than ever, while removing the jersey off of you, throwing it at him, eyes swelling with tears.
"You're a fucking parasite, a manwhore who thinks everything's about you. I hope you never get to the NFL." This time it comes out lower, like a personal threat. You desperately crave to hurt him in a way he won't be able to laugh at or make jokes. Turning around, you walk out of the house, everything seemed to suffocate you.
He's stunned, no ones ever talked to him like that, specially you, the one person he was so used to getting shit from. He just stares at your back, the BURROW that was once hidden by your messy hair now gone, in his shaky hands. A range of emotions go through him. He's mad, but then thereâs a sadness, he feels unwanted, as if the only reason people talk to him is because he is the quarterback. He doesnât want you to leave like this, but he doesnât know what to say, so he just yells âWhere are you even gonna go?!â
"Somewhere you're not!" You scream, not even bothering to turn around to face it, crossing the door and walking through the garden in front of the house.
At this point, the party had gone back to what it once was, a loud, fun mess.
He sighs, then chases after you. When he catches up, he grabs your arm and forces you to turn around to face him. âWhere the hell do you think you're going? You're not safe, there's a bunch of drunkards out there today."
"Like you give a fuck." You shrug, shaking your arm to get away from his grip. You turn around and start walking, the cold getting to you again. The snow fell mercilessly and all you had was the thin sweater that covered your cheerleading clothes.
He sighs, then realizes youâll freeze outside. He puts his arm around you and pulls you in. You're so incredibly small compared to him you can feel his heart beating fast and his muscles tense from anger. âI do care. Just⌠come back inside, you're gonna freeze out here."
"Leave me alone! I fucking hate you!" The tears start falling as you punch his chest in a frantic way. It didn't hurt him, of course, but you didn't know that.
He scowls when you do so, gritting his teeth, then just watches you cry. He sighs and pulls you in tight, his body heats yours up. He rocks you like a baby, and whispers âLet me explain. I didn't meant for things to be like this.â
"Like what? Like living hell?" You away from his embrace, but part of you wishes you hadn't. Joe was so big and warm you didn't even needed a coat. "You hate me. Why are you even doing this?" you yell, the loud blasting music from the party muffling your screams. "Go back to your stupid party with your friends and your girls. I'm going home."
He grabs your arms and makes you turn to him. âI donât.. hate you. I just get mad and take it out on you. I know thatâs not right, iâm trying to fix it. Let me take you home.â
"Oh please." You scoff, tears still falling. "No need. I'll walk." You say, shivering due to the cold.
He sighs again. âYou're not going home alone, it's not safe. I donât care if you hate my guts, iâm not letting you walk alone.â
Joe's words and actions pierce you like a bullet. Never, in a million years, you had imagined you'd hear him talk to you like this. Of course, it was still rude, but there was a sweetness to it. You say nothing, as you couldn't bring yourself to. As he puts the jersey you once threw in his face back on your shoulders, the shivering reduces a bit, and your lips stop trembling, their reddish color that was once white from the cold, reappearing. His big hands stroking your back felt so gentle, and helped you get rid of the cold as he gently and quietly led you to his car. He opens the door to the passenger seat and waits for you to get in. You do so, surprisingly, and he closes it, turning around to get into the driver's seat.
He climbs in the drivers seat and starts the engine. The warm air that comes out of the vents warming you up as he looks over at you. You watch him drive, he seems so focused, and when he speaks, itâs in a quiet voice âI'll walk you to your door, then you should probably take a hot shower to warm up, your gonna get sick like this.â
"There's no need. I'll survive." you say, pulling the jersey closer and breathing in the warmth.
âI'm not gonna risk you getting sick just because you decided to be stubborn now.â You canât help but notice how gentle his voice is, a nice contrast to how cold he seemed towards you at the party.
"Fine." You whisper, and after a few moments in silence, he finally pulls up to the dorms. You open the door of the car and get out, the cold getting to you again. You sigh.
Joe does the same and the two of you walk in silence towards the entrance of the building. Once you reach the door, you turn around, "You've done enough, Burrow. I mean it. Go back to your party, you have a win to celebrate." You say, grabbing your keys and unlocking the door.
âI wanna see you safe in your house before i go, I feel responsible for you getting cold out here.â he doesnât want you to think he doesnât care about you, when itâs clear from the way heâs acting he only thinks of you and your safety right now.
You nod, his gentle words feeling like daggers in your heart, making you almost regret the way went a few rounds with him earlier.
Getting into your aparment, you take off your shoes, holding the door for him to do the same, and when he does, you lock it again, before making your way to the small kitchen.
"Can I get you anything? Water, tea..?" You ask, trying to be a good host. You and Emily never expected no one to come to the apartment, so there was never many food or drink options.
He follows you to the kitchen, shrugs and looks around. The apartment is not very big, but itâs homely. From the kitchen, you can see the entire living room, including the door, and then there's a small hallway that leads to the rooms and bathroom.
He looks at you when you offer him something and smiles, it breaks his scowl, it looks good on him. He looks at you for a moment, then says âCan i get a glass of water?â
You nod and get on your tip toes to open the cabinet, getting a glass and then filling it with water, handing it to Joe as you take a seat on one of the stools in front of the kitchen's island.
He takes the glass and drinks from it, still holding on to his scowl, but it slowly drops off as he begins to relax. He sits down beside you, close enough that his knees are touching yours âYour apartment is so different from mine.â
You sigh, making small talk with him was the last thing on your list for today, but still, you gave it a shot.
"How so..?" You say, not even bothering to look at him. Instead, the cup of water you had poured to yourself in front of you was the one getting all of the attention. The fact that the only person in the entire campus that hated you was the one to bring you home was already embarrassing enough, so you were still to wrap your mind around the fact he was still here.
He watches you and looks around the kitchen, not sure how to explain it to you. For a few moments he just looks at you, trying to gather his thoughts. âI donât know how to explain it, itâs just different from anything iâm used to.â
"Calling me poor now, are we, Burrow?" You shrug, letting a small laugh fall from your lips.
He glares, then realizes you were joking and laughs a little bit. You can notice he still smiles when he looks at you, which is surprising considering how he always scowled at you. âI'd never call you poor, especially not after seeing your outfit tonight.â he looks you up and down.
"Mr. Joseph Burrow's a fashionista?" You chuckle, this wasn't something you'd ever expect from him. There wasn't any monograms or brand names on the sweater you wore, but if you were a someone into good clothing, you'd recognize it.
He laughs and shakes his head, he canât help but notice your curves and he looks down, trying not to stare. âI wouldnât consider myself a fashion guy, i just know something looks nice when i see it.. and your outfit looks very nice on you."
"Yeah, sure.." You nod, standing up and grabbing both of the glasses. You take them to the sink, putting your hair up in a bun and washing them. "I'm okay now, Burrow, really. I don't know why you did what you did tonight, but thank you." The thank you comes out like a whisper, but you pray he does notice. "Come back to your party, enjoy your teammates and your girls. There's still time."
He shifts in his seat and watches you as you wash the glass, his mind is conflicted. Part of him wants to follow his teammates back to the party, the other part wants to stay with you, see how long the small talk can go before it turns into a fight again. His eyes watch you as his breathing starts to pick up a bit. When you thank him, he realizes you donât want to talk about the fight or why he did what he did at all.
He shakes his head and stands up. âI guess I better get going then."
"Yeah.. of course." You flash him a shy smile, and the awkward silence sets in again.
He notices your smile and smiles back, not knowing how to express himself right now, although he doesnât know how to leave either. He just awkwardly stands there, staring at you, his eyes are locked on yours, he canât help but notice how beautiful they are. The two of you lost in your own thoughts, the silence filled with tension. Then he speaks âCan i ask something before I go?â
"Yes."
âWhy'd you wear that jersey? You knew it would piss me off, so whyâd you wear it?â
You sigh, you had already explained that, but Joe seemed so drunk you thought maybe he had forgotten. "I told you, I was cold and I had forgotten my hoodie." you point to the couch, where the green hoodie rested on. "I knew it would piss you off, and trust me when I say I wasn't going for that today, but it happened. I'm sorry for it, you can have it back now." You say, taking the jersey off for the second time that night, except this time you don't throw it on his face. Instead, you just gently hand it to him, like a peace offering.
He takes it, looking down at it in his hands, then he looks back up at you. He sighs and is suddenly filled with mixed feelings, anger, sadness, his emotions feel overwhelming. He doesnât want to yell and argue with you again, but he also doesnât want to leave. He canât stop looking at you and your eyes, he canât help but love how pretty they are. "Can I please keep this? Please..?" he whispers.
"Why are you asking me that? It's yours, it has your name on it." You say matter-of-factly, fidgeting with your hands, something you do when you're nervous.
You can tell heâs trying really hard not to smile at you, his voice is soft when he says âYeah⌠but itâs got your sweat on it⌠your smell⌠I want something to remind me of you⌠even though, you know⌠we always seem to get each other mad.â
You don't understand, after all, you see each other every single day. The best "something to remind me of you" he could ever ask for was standing right in front of him everyday.
You furrow your eyebrows. Years of fighting, screaming and pissing each other off leading to this moment was something you couldn't wrap your mind around. "Do I need to remind you we hate each other? Until this morning, you'd get me suspended from LSU if you could."
He laughs, and youâve never seen him in such a vulnerable and soft state. "We both know I donât wanna get you suspended from LSU, I mean, come on.. just look at you.â he stares at you, you see his eyes roaming your body like he always does, but thereâs a different look about them. "You deserve this scholarship more than I do, you've always have."
"Yeah.." You scoff, not believing a word, looking at the jersey on his hands and then at his eyes. His big, blue eyes that you got lost in countless times before.
He smiles at you, realizing the snarkiness he just heard. He doesnât mind the teasing, in fact, he kinda likes it. He stares at you for a minute, then he looks back down at the jersey âI like how it fits tight on you.â he says without realizing it.
"Tight? You're big as hell, it looks huge on me." You laugh, remembering how the jersey looked on you when you put it on earlier today.
He laughs silently to himself, a big smirk appears on his face. He looks at your body, then smiles. âYou're just too small, but I do like how it fits on you."
You feel goosebumps throughout your entire body and your cheeks heat up. You curse yourself mentally for letting it all show so easily.
He's still staring at you, but doesnât realize just how much heâs making you blush. He continues to speak in a low voice "I can see your belly button when you dance for us on the field.." He pauses, but decides to go on, and it's like you can hear the engines turning in his head. "I can see your bra strap when you go so high in the sky I feel my hands covered in cold sweat in fear that you'll fall and I won't be there to catch you. I can see your collarbones when you get so close to me when we're fighting that I wish I would just lean in and shut you the fuck up. I can see how you blush when I sweep you off your feet and leave you speechless, like i'm doing now." He steps closer. "I can see all of you. Matter of fact, Y/N, I think you're all I have ever wanted to see." He states, like it's a fact, like he has always known that. You feel your eyes starting to water and you feel stupid. "Every inch of you looks amazing in that jersey, it fits you like nothing else iâve ever seen."
You sigh, it's almost like you can feel your skin being touched by him just by the way heâs looking at you. You feel like a forest fire, and his voice tone doesn't help. "Stop.."
His voice is so low when he talks, you want him to keep speaking. You want to hear his voice go on and on, to get you worked up, but also to lull you into the most peaceful sleep you've had in years. He keeps staring at you as he speaks âJust look at your shoulders, the fabric wraps all around them so perfectly, theyâre such beautiful curves, just like the rest of you. Just look at you.. Jesus." He sighs.
You squirm under his gaze, but in a split second you're reminded of everything that happened before this moment. Before being here, in your small dorm, talking to the man you earlier thought to be the meanest person you knew. "I won't fall for it. I'm not the girls you get after winning games."
He chuckles and looks away, clearing this throat before going on "Those girls are just something to make me feel good, they donât even mean anything to me. But you.. even when you make me angry, I want nothing but to feel you in my arms. You make me feel so good, even when you piss me off.â
"You don't mean that." You mutter, trying to stay calm. You pick the skin on your arms while staring at him.
His eyes shift back to yours when you speak, he sighs and you can tell for a minute heâs conflicted on what to say. "I know you donât believe I mean all those words, but honestly, I mean every word. You are the only girl who's ever made me feel something, even if weâre arguing, that means we at least have some emotion we want to put towards each other. I'd rather have you making me mad than have someone making me feel nothing at all."
A single tear slides down your cheek. "You're drunk, that's what it is. You're drunk and this.." You point to yourself, and then to him, "..must be a prank."
âI know thatâs all weâve known for years, but maybe the reason you make me so mad is because I have feelings for you. You are the only girl I have ever wanted to talk to like this. You're the only girl that makes me feel this way. I never want to stop talking to you, I just want to tell you how beautiful you are, even when you make me mad, or when you push me so far it makes me want to push you towards the wall and kiss you."
You stare at him like everything you've ever known has finally made sense. A few more tears drip from your eyes and you sigh. "You promise?" it comes out in a whisper.
He smiles and you can tell it's not a fake drunk smile. This is the smile he flashes at someone when he's letting down his guard and being completely honest and vulnerable. "I promise. I don't want anyone else, I want you. I wanna be the guy who makes you happy like no one else could. I want you to be there when I get into the NFL and I want to be able to look for you on every game, waving at you when I see you're wearing my jersey because you finally want to, because it means something."
You look up, melting over his voice, your eyes meeting his like never before. His eye color seemed different now, a more vivid blue. His eyes seemed more relaxed, a nice contrast to the ones full of rage that always came with a furrowed brow. "I want you, too." You whisper.
He smiles, a real and sweet smile. This time when his eyes roam your body, you feel like he isn't looking at you in a nasty way like always, he's just looking at you because he thinks he's the luckiest boy in the world.
You smile, "Do I need to call you some names to have you kissing me now?" It makes him laugh, and your eyes lock on his. There isn't any words, just feelings, and you can see it in him when the realization sets in that you want him too.
You get on your tip toes as Joe pulls you towards him, your lips finally touching each other. Your belly feels as if you just rode a rollercoaster, as if the LSU football team had won, as if there was fireworks inside of you like there's in the sky on the fourth of July. But instead it was all him, the same boy that you once hated so much, doing all of this to you without even trying.
Immersed in your thoughts, you didn't notice when someone opened the door and came in, what gave it away was the smell, and you wondered if it would ever change.
"Joseph..?" you froze, again, but still managed to turn around on the armchair, feet now touching the ground.
His eyes meet yours for the first time in.. well, years, since that fateful night. He looked.. the same. Although his hair was shorter now and he looked bigger than ever, his face was the same. The same mesmerizing ocean blue eyes, pointy nose, and rosy cheeks, which you always found funny, because it looked like he had blush on. He wore a threadbare white shirt, shorts, and a tennis shoe, but they weren't the same as years ago, and you thought to yourself how an outfit of his now would cost probably more than your monthly earnings. He also wore a USA flag headband, which you had seen earlier laying on the wood table for everyone to get one. You thought it looked.. funny.
"Y/N." He nods. It felt like forever since your name had left his lips for the last time.
"Sorry, I-" You start, getting up from the chair as you wrote a full apology in your head for being in a private part of his home. "I thought nobody would need the room, I'll leave now."
"Nobody does." He takes a sip of his drink, his hands looking huge as he holds the red cup. "Dave told me you came with him and Emily, had to see it for myself."
He says, getting closer and finally leaning onto the window, arms resting just above it. Another sip, and you find yourself sitting again.
"How'd you know I was here?" You furrow your eyebrows, not understanding a thing. His eyes don't wander from the view. You're stiff, and you think you've probably never felt so nervous.
"You always are."
If you thought your eyebrows couldn't furrow any more, you were wrong. As soon as the words fell from his lips, you were in complete shock. Does that mean he knew that, all this time, you spent the parties in his attic, alone, dying to go home? That he knew you slept here, not once, not twice, but several times before?
"What?" Is all you manage to say, embarrassment taking over you.
"I mean, when I threw parties in high school you were always here. I know you don't like parties but you would always come because of Emily, and somehow your nights always ended here."
Your eyes widened, and you swore that if your mom could see you now, she would say something along the lines of You look like you've seen a ghost.
You kind of felt like you had.
"I'm surprised you like the place, it's kinda small." He finally shifts, taking his arms off the window and setting his now empty cup on the small wood piece that rested under the window. You blush, after all this time.
When you woke up in the morning, Joe was no longer there. You didn't panic, just thought of it as typical him. Getting up from the bed, you saw Emily on her chair, watching something on her computer.
"Morning, sleeping beauty." she says as she hears you yawn.
"Morning, Ems." You smile, sitting up straight. "D'you have a good night?"
"Obviously, duh. Dave's a gentleman." she states, bragging, and you laugh. "He also told me you and Joe left together last night.. what was that about?"
You sigh, flashes from the night before coming back to haunt you. "We.. uh.." you start, but words can't really explain what went down in this apartment yesterday. "We kissed, and had sex.. and, uh.. he might've said he likes me.." you whisper, like it was a crime.
"WHAT?!" Emily jumps from the chair, startled. "Y/N.. Oh my God.." she gets closer to you, getting on her knees in front of you. "How was that? And, most importantly, how's that gonna work now?" she states, as if something had changed overnight.
"What do you mean?" you furrow your eyebrows, confused.
"Well, you know he's been drafted to the NFL, don't you?" she says as if it was something everyone knew, incluiding you.
You felt your heart sink.
So it was a prank, after all. The worst one he could ever pull on you.
He left, and he wasn't coming back.
You knew he meant every word he had said last night, but he also had really left. Joe had confessed his love to you the night before just to leave in the morning, leaving you mercilessly stranded.
You don't say anything, because how could you find the words to? Emily immediately understands and hugs you, but the only embrace you could possibly want at the time was miles away now.
You were surprised at his ability to pretend like nothing had happened, like the last few years hadn't been torture to you, wondering where did it go wrong. Years of blaming yourself, of recalling the night over and over and-
"No need to be ashamed, Y/N." he chuckles, the sound of it filling the quiet room.
"I'm not ashamed." you lie. Letting him see through you was the last thing you needed today. "Just thought nobody knew."
"Well, if it helps, I'm the only one who does." he finally sits on the ground, back glued to the wall where the window was. A beat, and then he was back with the personal questionnaire. "How are you?"
"I should be the one asking that question. Huge team, getting all the girls, abnormal paycheck.. Superbowl." your words dripping with disgust as you stare out the window, hoping for something, anything, anyone, a divine intervention to get you out of there.
"I don't really get that many girls," he says as he stares at you. One of the things about him that bothered you so much was his courage. You could never, ever, not a million years, bring yourself to stare at him the way he'd do to you. It was intimidating, raw, and worst of all, familiar. He'd always do this when the two of you fought in high school, that's how he'd always win the arguments, not by words, by having the courage to look you in the face and leaving you feeling vulnerable and naked under his gaze. That's also the same way he stared at you that night, after saying all those nice words that made you melt under his touch.
"Mhm.." You nod, not knowing what to say.
"Aren't you going to answer me?" he questions, again.
"I'm fine, finishing my doctorate now."
You don't know why you told him that, but it felt right.
He lets out a breath, "Fuck, Y/N.. That's huge." he congratulates you, and although he couldn't see it due to the poor lighting, it makes you blush. You had never seen it as that big of a deal, it was just the thirst for knowledge you always had, but it was nice knowing someone Joe thought about it as something nice.
"Thank you"
"Thank you coming today," he finally says, awkwardly, as he gets up, grabbing his cup as he does so. "tell your folks I said hi."
"Will do."
He opens the door and gets lost in the crowd, leaving quietly and sneakily like he did that night, and you let out a breath you didn't even realize you were holding.

last kiss
pazzi angst i dare say
itâs july 9th motherfrickers
i wrote this shit by myself because the people i asked for help did not answer
â
azzi sat stationary on the floor in the cabin her family was occupying, tucked away from everyone else. she was turned toward the window, wrapped up in a hoodie she shouldnât be nuzzling her face into. thinking about someone she surely shouldnât be missing right now, not after what had happened. not after what sheâd said.
~
paige laughs, letting a tiktok restart for what must have been at least the third time. or maybe it was the fifth. oh. it was only a screen recording of a story sheâd watched over and over again before it went away, of a girl kneeling on herself, reading a book while a game was played around her. not just a girl, actually. her girl. her azzi. well, not hers anymore.
~
azzi presses play on her third uconn game rewatch of the night. this time, itâs her favorite one. senior night, from this year. paige was glowing, from the moment she woke up in the morning, to when she fell asleep tucked against azzi that night. azzi hadnât slept well that night, but she was content with watch the beautiful girl in her arms breath in and out. now, all she has is these games, because she fucked it all up.
~
paige thinks back to the last time she saw azzi, in washington almost two weeks ago. and she thinks of what she said, what she offered, and how azzi turned her down.
~~
âi know i gotta travel a bunch, but what if you just came with me,â paige asks azzi, nudging her playfully.Â
âha, you know we canât, paige,â azzi states firmly. paige tilts her head to the side questioningly, not seeing the issue.
âwhy not baby? iâll miss you too much and we could go see nika play together! i see no problem.âÂ
being honest, neither did azzi. she had nothing, only an invite for a vacation with her family, and they would understand.
âpaige, theyâll know. they already are suspicious, thatâs all people talk about. this would only
clarify it.â Â
and there it is.
âso thatâs why, right? because youâre fucking embarrassed to be with me? you donât want to have those rumors. so youâre just gonna avoid me. alright, got it.â paige snorts at her own words, at the absurdity of them.
âitâs not like that. itâs just, you have this huge platform built on your career, and i donât want that to come crashing down because of our relationship, baby please you have to understand this.â azzi doesnât know what else to say, do, to make paige get it.
âpuh-lease. half of my fan base is teenage girls that wanna fuck me. they wonât give two fucks.â paige knows sheâs being vulgar, sheâs being rude, but she doesnât care.
âthatâs not the point. the point is that teammates shouldnât date each other and itâll only cause problems.âÂ
azziâs right. deep down, paige knows that. so, she doesnât know why she lets her words tumble out of her mouth.
âfucking fine, then. we donât gotta date if you donât wanna.â and then she goes home.
~
the scent of paigeâs hoodie makes azzi miss her even more. sheâs in bed now, holding it in her arms and thinking of the night before the day it all happened, the day they fell apart. she thinks of how they kissed that morning, and how she didnât realize it would be their last. sheâs about to fall asleep, letting tears run off her face and into the worn cloth of the sweater, when she hears a car door outside.
~
paige wonders if she shouldâve called azzi first, told her she was showing up to say sorry. itâs too late now, sheâs already here. she doesnât even have to knock on the door. itâs unlocked, thanks to azziâs brother, who was perfectly willing to leave it just so paige could âget azzi out of her fucking moodâ. paige hoped she could.Â
~
azziâs scared. she doesnât know why she heard a car door, and she doesnât know why the front door just opened. sheâs cowering under her blankets when a shadow walks into her room, and just as sheâs about to scream, she recognizes it.Â
âpaige,â she breathes. in an instant, paige has flung herself onto the bed, onto azzi.
âazzi, azzi, iâm sofuckingsorry. i never shoulda said that shit to you, itâs all on me, i need to be with you so bad, all i can think about is you, and, and, and.â
she trails off, sinking her face into azzis chest, unable to continue. azzi strokes her hair soothingly, while speaking.
âpaige, darling, i know, i know. itâs okay, i forgive you, all of you.âÂ
paige starts to sit up, starts to say something, but azzi wonât let her get it out.
âshhh, baby, sleep. i know you musta had a long drive to get all the way here, and all i want from you as an iâm sorry is a night with you here, in my arms.
and then theyâre asleep, holding each other like they never left.

Loved You First
rafe cameron x fem! reader | á´Ęá´á´á´á´Ę 2
Two years ago, Rafe left the island without saying a word. Unknowingly to him, you were pregnant all along. When he finally comes back, heâs desperate to get you back not knowing itâs more complicated than it seems.
đđžđđđžđ đđşđđđžđđ
đđđ
Rafe knew. What were you supposed to do now that he knew he had a daughter all along.
Rafe quickly interrupts your thoughts with his questions. âHow old is⌠she?â
âJulieâ, you corrected him.
âRight⌠Julie. How old are you Jules?â, he playfully asks your daughter as she giggles still peeking over at him from your shoulder.
âSheâs one and a half nowâ. The words come out more rushed than intended. âUh anyways itâs been a long day you must be tired. You can sleep on our spare mattressâ, you say pointing to a matress on the floor lying next to two others. Heâs about to mutter a quick thanks before you rush to tuck in a fussy and sleepy Julie into bed.
The little girl falls asleep quickly, unlike Rafe. The three of you are sprawled out onto a makeshift bed on the floor made out of thin mattresses. Of course Rafeâs mattress was slightly distanced from the other two, yet he couldnât help but look over at you. You were fast asleep with your daughter bundled up by your side, he quickly noticed how Julie preferred to cuddle with you rather than make use of her own sleeping space. You didnât even have a bed to sleep on. All the struggles you were forced to undergo during his absence hurt more than any other wound heâs ever had. He never should have left to begin with, whether he knew there was a baby involved in the mix or not.
It was night and the warmth of the sun was replaced by the soft moonlight. The glow from the moonâs crescent wasnât enough to distract from the cold the night brought though. Rafe looked over to where you were sleeping to make sure you were sleeping comfortably and covered, only to find that youâve given your blanket to little Julie. She was still cold with the one blanket she had, so you draped another one on her. So you slept shivering with your arms around yourself. Rafe didnât say anything, he just unraveled himself from the blanket he was using and placed it over you.
When you wake up the next morning, Rafes gone. âNothing newâ, you think to yourself. Still something feels different though, you donât feel that cold chill you usually feel on cold mornings. Thatâs when you notice a blanket draped around you, the blanket you gave to Rafe last night. What was Rafeâs blanket doing on you? You donât have too much time to dwell on it before Julie wakes up and fussily reaches over to you. âMammmaaaaaaaaaaaaâ, she cooes while holding her arms out to you while sniffling. âHungryâ.
You giggle as you boop her nose and take her in your arms. Sometimes you forget how little Julie is, only one and a half and already a sweetheart. You set Julie down in her little high chair as you start to make breakfast before you hear the front door unlock. You quickly look up only to find a group of men carrying a bed frame. And before you can protest or say that they made a mistake and came to the wrong house, you see Rafe in the corner of your eye directing the men where to go.
Your question whether if you should ask him what heâs doing or demand him to leave, but little Julieâs excited to see her dad and claps at the sight of him. Although you practically melt at your daughterâs happiness, youâre not just going to let Rafe come into your home and do whatever he pleases.
âRafe!! Hey, what do you think youâre doing?â, you ask rushing out of the kitchen with the topic of breakfast slipping out of your mind.
Rafe turns to face you and you expect anger, but his eyes are soft. Itâs that same sincere look he used to have. It was like the old Rafe was back for a moment , the man he was before he left. The old you would have swooned over the act, but the new you that carried a broken and beaten heart wanted nothing to do with this.
âYou donât have a bed. Thought I woukd start with a bed frameâ, he says it as if itâs the most simplest thing in the world. As if he could just waltz in back into your life with a new bed frame and everything would fall back into place. As if he didnât leave for two years, brokenhearted and with a baby.
âWell whatever Iâ-, youâre quickly interrupted by Rafe showing the group of men where they would set up the bed.
It doesnât take long for them to set everything up and leave. You expected Rafe to leave with them, but surprisingly he stayed and cheered little Julie on as she jumped up and down on the new bed treating it as a trampoline.
âYou said you were only going to stay here for a day Rafeâ, you say getting up from the chair where you were watching the two, âYour dayâs upâ.
Thatâs enough to break Rafeâs attention away from his daughterâs giggling. âWait. Waitâ.
You donât bother wasting your breath to answer him as you push him out the door and slam it shut. Take that Rafe Cameron, canât buy your way back into this one. Youâre proud of your victory, but when you turn around you see your daughterâs lip quivering with tears threatening to spill. You knew Julie wanted her dad back, but you suppressed your guilt by reassuring yourself that she would understand one day when she was older. You try to calm her down by putting her to bed and reading her favorite bed time story, but itâs no use and her quiet quivers turn into loud wails.
Your daughter was stubborn just like you, and there was only one thing she wanted. Which is what led you to go out looking for Rafe hours later you threw him out. You were ready to scour all around the island to find him, only to find him asleep at your doorstep.
âRafe!â, you shake him awake, âWhat are you doing?! Itâs dangerous out here, how many times have I told you that this isnât the best areaâ. Heâs barely half awake by the time youâre dragging him back inside.
The minute Julie spots him sheâs running over to his side. The little toddler manages to tackle Rafe down to the ground while giggling. She grabs the closest storybook and shoves it into his hands, waiting for him to read it to her.
âJulie cmon now sweetieâ, you chuckle nervously. âDonât bother⌠himâ.
Rafe smiles and glances quickly over to you before starting to read the story about a family of bears. Family. Such a foreign word to him, yet the way Julie cuddled by his side while he was reading her bedtime story with you sitting right next to him made everything seem as if he was fitting in with you two just perfectly.
Julieâs ecstatic with her dadâs storytelling. She giggles and points to Rafe everytime she sees papa bear on the page. âPapa!! Papa Bear!!â, she chants while pointing at Rafe.
âUnbelievableâ, you think to yourself. Yes Rafe was her dad, but she barely just met him. You tried to deny how you felt seeing your daughter so happy with Rafe, it must have just been the loneliness catching up to you. You werenât about to just let the man who walked out without a word come back in that easily, heâs officially lost his keys to the house.
The next few days Rafe constantly leaves gifts on your porch every morning without fail. It was a sweet gesture you suppose, but you werenât going to let him buy you back. Not this time.

Steve is hanging out with Robin when he hears a knock at the front door. Robin gives him a concerned look as he leaves the living room to open it, neither of them expecting anyone, and everyone they know has a key.Â
When he opens the door, a girl he guesses is around Dustinâs age is there, nervously playing with her hands, a backpack loosely thrown over her shoulder. âHi, sorry to bother you but, do the Harringtonâs live here?â she asks shyly.
âYes, Iâm Steve. Who are you?â There is a familiarity to her face that he canât quite place. Â
âSteve, right, they said he had a son. Iâm uh, my name is Julie. Your dad kinda knew my mom.â
He must have met her at one of his dadâs work events, that has to be why she looks familiar. âOh ok, did she have to drop something off here or something?â
âWell, kinda. But itâs not what youâre probably expecting.â She pauses looking unsure of what she is going to say next. âCan I- can I come it, you might want to sit down for what I have to say. Itâs kind of shocking.â
âIâm not sure, I donât really know you. Could you tell me who your mom is, maybe I can remember you then.â
She takes a deep breath. âWhen I said that my mom knew your dad, I didnât mean from work. Well, I did mean from work but she hasnât worked for him in over fifteen years, so I doubt youâd remember her. She was his secretary for a while, and they had a very,â she pauses again, looking around to see if anyone is there. âIntimate, relationship.â
The dots clicked immediately in his head, thoughts immediately started to run around about who this girl could really be. He thinks that her offer to sit down was probably necessary. âYeah, why donât you come in.â
âOk.â She steps through the doorway, waiting for him to lead her through the house.Â
He brings her to the kitchen, motioning for her to sit at the small table. Grabbing a few glasses, he fills them with water and brings them over, placing one in front of her. She thanks him, taking it and gulping it down with shaky hands. The more he looks at her, the more he canât help but see more and more similarities, just ones that remind him of himself.Â
âWho was it, Steve,â Robin asks, wandering into the kitchen. âOh shit, hi.â
âRob, this is Julie, her mom apparently knew my dad.â Steve makes a motion with his head to indicate how, hoping that she can read it right.Â
With the way her eyes widen, he canât help but think that she did. âOh like, special knew. Like knew knew.â
âYes,â Julie says weakly. âYeah, they did.â
âOh shit,â Robin takes a seat next to Steve, her hand immediately finding his. It brings comfort, reassurance that sheâs there. He knew his dad was a piece of crap cheater, his mom certainly made it known during many of their screaming matches. But with the girl staring at him with the same eyes he sees every morning in the mirror, his brain canât help but jump to the conclusion that sheâs, something. And that just makes his chest tighten in anxiety.
âI, uh.â Julie starts, wringing her hand nervously again. âI donât really know how to say this gently. But, when my mom worked for your dad, they had an affair. It didnât last that long, but remember when I said my mom stopped working for him like fifteen years ago? It was actually seventeen because thatâs when she figured out she was pregnant.â
Steve feels a lump forming in his throat as she nods, trying to take it all in. âWith you?â he asks, not knowing how he is even speaking at all right now. Robin squeezes his hand.
Julie gives a small nod, looking down at the table. âYeah.â
âAnd my dad is-â he canât finish the sentence, but itâs answered by her sorry nod. âHoly shit.âÂ
He runs a hand through his hair, trying to wrap his head around everything. This girl, Julie, is his sister. Half-sister, whatever, it doesnât matter. Robin breaks her contact with him and goes to rub his back instead. His head falls into his hands propped up on the table and he just focuses on breathing.Â
âSteve, you ok?â Robinâs voice soothes him a little bit, but when your world just gets shattered, thereâs not much that can be done to help completely.Â
âI knew he cheated. I knew that, accepted that. Itâs why my mom followed him around on all his trips. But he- he had a kid, and just hid it.â
âIâm sorry. I know this is a lot to take in, I have proof if you want to see it.â
Steve looks at Robin, asking her what to do with his eyes. She shrugs, her way of saying that it couldnât hurt. Probably is better that they have proof anyway, make sure this is legit. He nods, unable to say anything.Â
âCould we see it? Just to double-check everything,â Robin asks for him. God heâs so happy that sheâs here
Julie ruffles around in her backpack, random clothes peeping out as she pulls out a file. She opens it, pulling out two pieces of paper before going in again and pulling out what looks like a school ID. âHereâs my birth certificate and the paternity test. And my ID with my picture on it, so you know itâs me.â
The first thing he sees is his fatherâs name on the test results, followed by the line saying his relation to Julie is undeniable. That he was undeniably the father. The birth certificate only has the signature of her mother and the doctor, but the fatherâs name is absent. He ditched them, probably made her mom prove that this kid was his, and then just paid them to shut them up. His mom would never know, he would never know, and they never had access to any of his records.Â
Julie Rebecca Lawson, born January 28, 1970. He was three when she was born. Heâs had a sibling this whole time, and he didnât even know it.Â
âDoes your mom know youâre here?â Robin asks, softly.Â
Julieâs face visibly falls as she rapidly blinks away some tears. âShe- she died two weeks ago. Car accident.â
âIâm so sorry, Julie,â Robin reaches across to comfort her, but the hand she was going to grab gets pulled away. âWhoever is watching you then, do they know where you are?â
She sniffles. âIâve been staying with a foster family while they find a permanent placement. They donât really care where I am. My caseworkers were trying to find some family, but my grandparents are long gone and my momâs sister is in no place to take in a kid. So they were looking on my dadâs side.â She says the word dad as if they donât fit right in her mouth.Â
âI didnât come here looking for a place to say,â she continues. âRight before my mom passed, she finally told me about my dad. How he never wanted anything to do with me because he had a big reputation and another family. It was supposed to be a secret, but the more I thought about it, I couldnât help but think that you had a right to know. And then since she-, since I needed a place to stay, it was only a matter of time before you found out. I knew he was out of town so I thought it might be better to say it myself. Now Iâm not so sure that was such a great idea.â
âNo,â Steve finally says. âIâm, Iâm glad you told me. Youâre right, we, me and my mom, had a right to know. So, thank you. Rob, could I talk to you for a minute?â
She stands. âYeah. Weâll be right back, ok Julie.âÂ
Julie says a soft reply as Robin leads Steve to the living room. She has shock in her eyes, heâs sure he does too. âI donât know what to do, Rob.â
âHow could you? You just found out that your dad had another kid. With another woman. And then hid it from you. How are you supposed to cope with that information?â
âI donât know. I have no clue what to do from here but I canât help but. Shit Rob, I want to help her.â
âSteve, you donât know her, at all. She just spawned on your doorstep not even an hour ago and just dropped the biggest bombshell on you since the, you know what. I get that you want to help her, I do. Shit, I do too. But Iâm just asking that you take a step back and think about this.â
Steve crosses his arms, pulling his eyebrows together. The decision was pretty much made in his mind, but she was right. âWhat if she stays the night, we sleep on this and get to know her more tomorrow. Then we can go from there.â
âOk,â she puts a hand on Steveâs arm. âThatâs a good plan.âÂ
Robin steps forward, pulling him into a hug before they walk back into the kitchen. Julie looks back up at them, uncertainty filling her face. It reminds him so much of himself it sort of hurts. âJulie, you can stay the night, if you want to. That way tomorrow we can talk some more, and get to know each other, figure out what to do about this. But I can drive you back to the house youâre staying at if youâd like.â
âCould I stay here, I really donât like it there.â
âCome on, Iâll show you the guest room.â

author's note: ik this probably isn't what you were expecting lol, very sorry. i will be giving yall what you want very soon.
~flashback to july 2020~
paige's pov:
i can't believe i'm doing this.
playing at uconn has been my dream since i was a kid, but now that it's finally happening i feel paralyzed. packing my stuff made things feel final.
i'm really leaving minnesota. everything i know is here.
who's going to build legos with drew? who's going to make my parents coffee in the morning?
my hands shake as i fold another shirt, memories flooding my mind. friday night games, late-night drives with the team, sunday morning cartoons with drew.
what if i'm not ready? what if i can't handle the pressure?
i'd been doing a good job keeping all this to myself. putting on my best smile for every interview, every photoshoot. i had a good enough support system too, my family, friends, fans. but behind every "congratulation", i felt their expectation. a standard of perfection only a prodigy could fulfill.
what if i let everyone down?
i can't let them see me crack.
it's not like i'm not grateful for the opportunity. this is all i've worked towards for years. it just hurts to leave everything behind, especially for a future i had no control over. i felt safe here, in this moment, i'm full of potential.
the weight of my potential weighs heavily on my shoulders, keeping me up at night.
i sink to the floor, surrounded by half-packed boxes. part of me wants to unpack it all, to pretend that time isn't moving forward.
my eyes snap up when i hear a knock at my bedroom door.
"hey kiddo," my dad says warmly, leaning against the door frame.
"hey," i reply weakly, putting on a smile. i feel his eyes scan my face, his expression warming with sympathy.
he knows my smile is fake.
"already packing? you don't leave for another week, it shouldn't take you that lâ" he stops mid-sentence looking at my closet. "but with that shoe collection maybe you should've started a month ago," he teases, trying to make me smile.
"i just want to be ready," i say, sounding more insecure than i expected.
"it's okay to be scared, you know?" he starts, his voice gentle. "i know this is a big change."
"i just don't wanna disappoint anyone," i stand, continuing to pack my stuff, eyes glued to the floor.
"you could never disappoint us," he assures me. "we're all so proud of you, no matter what."
a mix of gratitude and homesickness rushes over me. i crumble over his words, a few tears escaping my eyes. walking slowly, he grabs me in his arms. we stand there for a moment, the heaviness of change lingering in the air.
"you know," he says suddenly, "i think azzi's still in town at her grandparents. why don't you give her a call?"
he's right, i usually visit her around this time of year. the thought of azzi brings a small smile to my face. memories of our summers spent together fill my mindâtrips to the fair, month long sleepovers, sleeping in her clothes.
"not everything has to change, paige," his voice knowing, eyes gauging my reaction.
if anyone could understand what i'm going through, i'd be her.
"yeah, i'll give her a call," i nod, trying to shake my heartache.
"good," he says, walking to my door. "don't forget to leave some of your shoes behind. we don't need the whole state of minnesota wondering why there's a shortage."
i roll my eyes, laughing. "i'll think about it."
he gives me one last warm smile before closing my door. i take a deep breath, reaching for my phone.
azzi's pov:
i'm sprawled across my bed, scrolling through my phone when it starts buzzing. paige's name lights up the screen, and i can't help but smile.
"hey p," i answer, my smile showing in my voice.
"hey az," she replies, and immediately i know something's off. her voice is quieter than usual, lacking its usual charm.
"you okay?" i ask, sitting up straighter.
there's a pause, i can almost feel her forcing a smile through the phone. "yeah, i'm good. just...packing."
packing. right. she's leaving soon.
i'm hit with a wave of anticipatory grief. i've been trying to avoid thinking about what it's gonna be like when she leaves. we'd fallen into such an easy routine. she's spent countless summers at my grandparent's house, becoming part of my family.
"how's that going?" i ask, trying to sound hopeful.
"it's...going," she laughs gently. "it's just a lot, you know?"
i do know. the spotlight she's received these past couple years has been intense, but paige made everything she did look effortless. her confidence carried off the court, giving her a new charisma.
she was so easy to love.
"yeah...it's a big change," my voice matching her quiet tone.
there's another pause, the soft hum of the phone. i listen for her breath, a sigh, some background noice. but nothing. i feel her worry through the phone.
"can i come overâ"
"you should come ovâ"
we say at the same time. "i'll pick you up tomorrow morning," i smile at the thought of finally getting to see her.
i hear her take a steadying breath, "okay," her voice sounding a bit lighter.
my mind starts to wander. what if i don't see her again for years after this? all this time, and i never thought i'd have to confront my feelings for her.
"hey, i'll call you later, okay?" i'm sad to end our call, but i didn't have time to waste.
"uh yeah," she says, sounding a bit disappointed. "talk to you later."
i hang up the phone, my mind racing, filled with all of her favorite things. that minnesota lynx jersey she loves, her favorite snacks, the lego sets she builds with drew.
i can't let her leave without knowing how much of me she's taking with her.
i start in my closet, sifting through my clothes. my fingers brush against the fabric of my favorite hoodieâthe one paige always steals when she's here.
i pull the hoodie closer to my chest, hoping that, for a moment, i could capture the warmth of her hug. a mixture of my perfume and her shampoo. i swear no matter how many times i wash the damn thing, it always carries a piece of her. like the intricate stitching holding the fabric, our bond sewn into the core of who we are.
i run my fingers along the seamsâstrong, resilient, trustworthy. i guess some things are too deep to be washed away. maybe it'll remind her that no matter how far she goes, a part of us will always be intertwined.
she should have this. it's practically hers anyway.
next, i move to my bookshelf, scanning the titles. my eyes land on one of my favorite john green books, looking for alaska. every once in a while she'd ask me to read it to her so she could fall asleep. paige always claimed my books were boring, but sometimes i'd catch her leaning in, eyes wide and attentive, consumed in the story. maybe she'd finally get around to reading it herself.
lastly, i grab some scissors off my desk and head for my front porch. the old basketball hoop stands sentinel, a silent witness to countless hours of our shared passion. i run my fingers along the worn metal, remembering all the times we'd scrimmage until the streetlights flickered on. our laughter and trash talk echoing through the quiet neighborhood.
i tilt the hoop towards me cutting off a piece of the net. the frayed edges feel like memories slipping through my fingers.
she was my champion first.
before the world knew 'paige bueckers', i knew paige. the slight competitive spark she'd get in her eyes before every shot. her confident sway as she played, turning my front porch into an arena.
everyone is finally gonna see in her what i've known for years.
back in my room, i surveyed my collection. each item, a different memory. i reach under my bed, adding the final touch to my giftâan old lego set paige and i bought together a long time ago. i put off building it with her, claiming we should save it for a special night.
there is nothing more special than tomorrow night.
i want everything to be perfect. i find myself frantically cleaning the house at 2 am, as if paige hasn't visited countless times. i organize my bookshelf, fold clothes, anything to keep my hands busy and my mind from wandering to her.
my exhaustion finally takes over and i lay sprawled across my bed. i try to sleep but she's all i dream about.
except these aren't the usual dreams.
a sequence of different visions flash through my mind, in each of them i'm losing her. we're on a basketball court, but something's off. paige is wearing a uconn jersey, looking different in a way i can't quite place. older, more independent. i'm still in my high school uniform. we're on opposite sides of the court, the air between us heavy. i call out to her but no sound comes out.
i want to tell her something. but my throat tightens, restricting like it's trying to hold her too.
i wake up before the sun, in a cold sweat. it felt so real, almost predestined. a heavy ache in my chest lingers, still unable to articulate what i need to tell her. the thought of my nightmares becoming real ignites a motivation in me to figure it out. fast.
i close my eyes again, hoping for dreamless sleep this time.
tomorrow, i'll find the words. i'll make sure i do.
paige's pov:
the sun peaks through my blinds, waking me up earlier than usual. awaking to the sight of half-packed boxes leaves me disoriented. but my heart flutters when i check my phone to find seven unread text from azzi.
i'm gonna miss stuff like this the most.
glancing at the time, i start to pack a bag to stay the night. she technically didn't say i was sleeping over, but i know us well enough to know that i will.
i start throwing things into my bagâmy favorite hoodie, some shorts, and a pillow. then i pause, remembering the last time we hung out at her grandparents' place.
everything i needed was already there.
i empty half the bag, smiling to myself. the hoodie she'd always let me wear, my toothbrush, that book azzi's always bugging me to read, even my favorite pillow. they're all still at her place.
i'm reaching for my phone to tell her i'm ready when i hear my doorbell. smoothing out my hair, i nearly trip down the stairs running to answer the door.
i take a quick breath. even after all this time, i still want to look good for her. the moment i open the front door i'm met with azzi's smile, carrying two coffees in her hands.
everything i need is right here.
"i'm surprised you're not still in your pajamas," she smiles, handing me a coffee.
"what? no, of course not. i've been up for hours," i lie, letting her roll her eyes at my comment.
"mhm," she turns walking to her car.
i glance at her while she walks, her attitude showing in her posture. within just a few seconds, i already feel lighter.
the drive there is both long and short. as we pull up to her grandparents' house, i feel a wave of nostalgia. how many summers have i spent here? how much of me will i be leaving behind?
azzi's grandma is already at the door as we get out of the car. "paigey!," she calls out, her voice warm and welcoming. "how's our little superstar?"
"hi grandma fudd," i mumble, as she pulls me into a hug. i feel like a kid again in her arms.
"look at you," she says, holding me at arm's length. "more beautiful every time i see you."
i blush bashfully at her compliments. "hey, what about me?" azzi pouts from behind us.
"oh hush, you too," she pulls azzi into a deep hug. "i'm glad you finally came, paige. i was worried you weren't gonna make it this year. azzi here hasn't stopped talking about you since your last visit."
i shoot azzi a look, raising my eyebrows at her. she blushes, looking away.
once inside, memories pass me by like a warm summer breeze. the creaky third step on the stairs, the faded marks on the doorframe where azzi and i measured our heights every summer. old family photos lining the hallway, many of which include me.
azzi leads me up to her room, her hand gently tugging at mine excitedly. i let her lead like it was my first time in this house.
as we enter her room, i can't help but notice how clean it looks. her bookshelf organized by size and color, desk clear and neat. i almost miss the messiness of it all, the way her personality leaked all over her bedroom walls.
had she cleaned everything for me?
i scan her bedroom walls, all of which are covered in photos of us. photos from practice, summer trips to the lake, championship games.
her bedroom a museum of us, a bold testament to our bond.
"you kept all of these?" i asked softly, touching the corner of a photo from years ago.
azzi shrugs, a slight blush coloring her cheeks. "of course," she clears her throat nervously. "only because i look so good in them," she laughs failing to hide her affection.
i turn to her, ready to tease her about being sentimental, but the words die on my lips. she's holding something behind her, smiling with her eyes.
she takes a deep breath, bringing her hands forward slowly. in them is a carefully wrapped package, similar to the half-packed boxes littering my floor at home.
"i, uh, got you this. well, more like...put together." she hands me the box.
my fingertips brush against hers, heart racing as i look up into her eyes. "az, you didn't have toâ"
"just open it, p," she interrupts, her voice soft and eager.
i unwrap the box, finally catching sight of its contents. it feels like all of the air has been sucked out of the room, it's all too much for me. her favorite hoodie, a worn copy of looking for alaska, a piece of frayed net from the hoop on her porch. and...is that the lego set we bought a long time ago?
all pieces of us, delicately put together in a small brown box.
"az..." i whisper, blinking away tears.
"i wanted you to have a piece of home to take with you," she explains, her eyes seeking my reaction. "so you didn't forget meâus."
i look up at her, my vision blurring the edges around her face. a warmth in my heart builds, surrounded by fragments of us. the finality of it all finally hit me.
how can we pack all of us into a box? years spent together, inseparable for the longest time, just to be neatly packaged in a cardboard box.
there's still so much i want to take with me. how do you package the sound of azzi's laugh? the feeling of her hand in mine? how do i fold up the comfort of her presence and tuck it neatly into a suitcase?
our friendship is a living, breathing thing. packing it away feels inhumane. she will never be a cardboard box i push into the back of my closet, the back of my mind. azzi's warmth pulses underneath my skin. she's the movement that pushes the blood through my body.
i realize something now. home isn't minnesota. it isn't my house or even this one.
home is azzi. and i'm about to leave it behind.
the weight of this box, however light in pounds, pulls me to the floor. my knees buckling underneath me, unable to form a coherent sentence. i'm drowning in a sea of emotions, waves of nostalgia and fear crashing over me. i cry, clinging to the box, like a life vest. my breath comes in short gasps, like i'm barely keeping my head above water.
i hear her call my name, but i can't respond. her voice feels far, muffled by my own emotion. i want to reach out, to tell her i'm okay, but my body won't cooperate.
azzi's hoodie wraps around me like a buoy, keeping me from sinking into the depths of my fears. the book, a raft of memories. the piece of net becomes a rope, pulling me to the shore of homeâto her.
i can feel her worry radiate off her in waves, matching the momentum of my fear.
azzi's my anchor, solid and hopeful, grounding me in this storm. her hands cup my face, holding me like water, wiping away the flood.
her touch is gentle, safe. i lean into it instinctively, she always knows how to bring me back to myself.
looking up, i meet azzi's gaze. her eyes are a mirror of my ownâa mix of worry, empathy, and something deeper. something that's been left unspoken between the two of us for a long time.
i feel her eyes search my face, a warmth that cuts through the chill of my tears.
azzi's looking at me like i'm her anchor too like she's just as terrified of drifting apart.
"paige, look at me," she says softly, also crying, wiping away my tears before her own.
i force myself to focus on her face. the wetness of her eyelashes, the trembling of her breath, her flushed cheeksâanything to slow my thoughts.
she sits on her knees, catching my tears in her palms. "you're not losing me, okay?" her voice reassuring, but also breaking between her tears.
"okay," i mumble sniffling. before i can thank her or apologize, she pulls my forehead to her lips. they tremble softly against my skin, her sadness showing but insistent on soothing me first.
azzi pulls my head into her chest, stroking my hair gently. i wrap my arms around her waist firmly, thinking that maybe if i hold her tightly enough, i can keep her hereâin this moment, forever.
my tears begin to settle as i focus on her heartbeat, trying to memorize it. each beat a resilient promise, a faint whisper of trust, something to hold on to.
we stay there for a moment before azzi pulls back, staring at me with such a tenderness it almost sets me off again.
my eyes fall on the lego set peeking out of the box, and i can't let but let out a shaky laugh. "you're finally letting me build this," i smile, "it only took me almost moving away, huh?"
azzi's face breaks into a small grin, relief showing in her eyes. "like i'd trust you to build it on your own. someone's gotta make sure you read the instructions."
"hey!" i gasp in mock offense. "instructions are for people who don't know what they're doing, i'm a professional lego architect."
"oh we'll see about that," she jabs, opening the box.
azzi's pov:
as we build the lego set together, i can't help but steal glances at paige. i read the instructions to her but she's definitely not listening. already working at the pieces, her focus is unbreakable. her tongue pokes out slightly as she concentrates. it's so quintessentially her, it makes my heart ache.
the day passes by in a blur of laughter and shared memories. it isn't until i notice how dark my room has gotten that i realize we've spent hours on my bedroom floor.
"see, i don't need instructions," paige says, proudly showing off the part she's assembled.
"yeah, whatever," i laugh, admiring her confidence.
we're interrupted by a soft knock at my door, the scent of fresh-baked cookies wafts from behind the door. i open the door to my grandma, always the perfect host, holding a plate of chocolate chip cookies.
she smiles warmly, "i thought you two might want a cookie break."
paige lunges up from the floor almost pushing me over, reaching for the plate. "you're gonna have to send some of these to connecticut," she says, between mouthfuls.
she laughs at her comment, "i wanted to give you this also," in her other hand she hands me an old film camera. "maybe you can capture something special," she smiles before closing the door.
"your grandma makes the best cookies," paige's voice muffled under the sound of her chewing.
before she can react, i snap a photo of her. the camera clicking in a way that makes me giggle.
"hey, i wasn't ready!" she snatches the camera out of my hands. "you're always the model anyways," she says, snapping a photo of me.
i give her a fake smile, still reaching for the camera. "happy now? give it back," i laugh, chasing her around my room.
"not until you give me a real smile," she holds the camera above her head.
"that's not gonna work, we're the same height, stupid," i reach for the camera nearly knocking it out of her hands.
"one picture, with a smile," she takes the camera up to her eye to look through the viewfinder.
i give her another impatient smile. she kneels down dramatically, shifting back and forth while snapping photos.
"okay, my turn," i reach for the camera again.
"these aren't real smiles," she pokes my side, making me giggle. "see there it is, hold still."
i drop my smile and pout dramatically. paige moves the camera away from her face and lunges towards me, jabbing at my sides. "stop, paige," i giggle, swatting at her hands.
she dodges me, her fingers continue relentlessly. i push her onto my bed, using my body weight to keep her still. we fight for a moment squirming around my mattress before i pin both of her wrists down. satisfied, i grin down at her. our laughter comes to a soft stop and we're both breathless.
"see, was that so hard?" paige tilts her head to the side, still out of breath. she attempts to reach her hands up again but i tighten my grip.
"oh, whatever," i roll my eyes, leaning closer to her, my hair draping over her face.
"can i tell you something?" she starts, her voice sounding a bit more serious.
"hm?" i respond, still satisfied i could hold her still.
paige hesitates for a moment, her eyes searching mine. "i've never actually had my first kiss," her cheeks flushing a light pink. "i thought i would've by now, before college, you know?"
i loosen my grip on her wrist, "oh, i had no idea. i figured plenty of guys would be lining up to kiss the paige bueckers," i tease.
"i guess," she looks away bashfully, "i just want it to be with someone special. someone i care about," her voice lowering to a whisper.
there's a silence that hangs between us. i feel my heart pounding in my chest. "like who?" i ask quietly.
i need to hear her say it.
her eyes flicker to my lips briefly before meeting my eyes again. "like...you," she says nervously, almost asking it like a question.
was she saying what i think she was?
"really?" i lean closer to her, my eyes wide and hopeful.
she lets out a nervous breath, her eyes intently locked on my lips. "yeah," she whispers, blinking quickly.
before i can overthink it, she leans in, closing the gap between us. her lips meet mine softly, and my hands reach for her face. i feel a nervous tremble in her lips, soft and warm. the pure flavor of her lips, tasting like vanilla and chocolate. her hands move to my waist, her thumb swaying slightly. we move slowly, gently, not wanting to rush this moment.
our kiss is tender like a warm summer night. her lips move sweetly and determined like she's thought of this before. her hands stroking softly saying "i've wanted this. wanted you."
when she pulls back i feel a new kind of emptiness. how am i going to live with the absence of her touch? she's opened a crack in my heart, long enough for the light to come in.
kissing paige was like sunlight embodied.
we stare at each other for a moment. caught in this new in-between.
what do you say after you kiss your best friend? how do you tell her it was your first kiss too?
"i'm glad it was you," she smiles, sitting up.
"yeah, me too," i murmur, my voice full of emotion. i lean to the side, still dazed from her touch.
"it's getting late, we should probablyâ" she starts.
"yeah...um," i respond uneasily, standing up to walk over to my closet. i grab one of my old t-shirts and a pair of shorts. "you can wear these to sleep in."
paige takes the clothes from me, her fingers brushing against mine. when we touch this time, it feels different, heavier. she heads to the bathroom to change, and i let out a breath i didn't know i was holding in.
even being just a room over, it feels like she's slipping through my fingers. i'm reminded of my nightmares from last night, paralyzed by the thought of losing her.
i need to tell her.
i grab a piece of paper and pen off my desk, my hands quivering slightly as i start to write.
the first part of the letter flows easily. but as i continue, i feel a shift. the truth hanging in the space between my pen and the paper.
she deserves the truth. and i owe it to myself, to finally tell her.
my heart races, searching for the right words as i continue...
i reread the letter, feeling vulnerable under my own words.
what if this ruins everything? what if she doesn't feel the same way?
i glance at my bedroom door, knowing paige could return at any moment. the panic sets in and i make a split-second decision. my hands shake as i tear the paper in half.
the first part, full of friendship and encouragement. it's a bit more sentimental than usual but not enough to make her suspect anything. i fold it neatly, placing it atop the other objects in the box. it's safe, expected.
the second part, my true feelings for her. i can't bring myself to throw it away, but i'm not ready for her to read it either. i tuck the small slip into the final pages of the last chapter of the book i'm giving her.
maybe one day i'll find the courage to tell her. maybe someday she'll finish the book and know how i really feel. but for now, this feels safe.
i don't know if i'm hoping she finds it or not.
as i hear the bathroom door open, i quickly close the book, sealing my fate. my heart pounds with the weight of my unspoken words.
my thoughts cease when i see her in my clothes. she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, looking unabashedly herself. for a moment, i see our future. imagining our closets becoming one, holding her as she falls asleep, an endless sleepover.
how am i supposed to let her go?
she catches me staring and smiles softly, a knowing glint in her eyes that makes my heart ache. without speaking, we settle into our usual routine. i let her sleep on my favorite side of the bed, she shifts around, trying to get comfortable. eventually, she turns on her side, her back facing me.
right before i drift off to sleep, i hear her call out to me. "azzi," she whispers softly into the dark.
"hm?" i answer, struggling to keep my eyes open.
"can you hold me?"
her voice gentle and vulnerable, as if i could hold every piece of her together. "of course," i wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her in closer. she sinks into my touch, her breath slows.
she drifts to sleep quickly in my arms, our heartbeats syncing. the weight of our unspoken words between us, laying heavily on my chest, pushing me towards a deep sleep.
i dream of never having to let her go.

July 22, 2022:
It was almost six weeks later that Bradley became suspicious.
They both hadnât spent much time together since the last time, and he wanted to make up for lost time with his wife. So he decided to take a day off and make breakfast while you were still in bed.
He whistles as he makes the pancakes, turning around every now and then to check the coffee on the stove the way you like it. He puts the missing dishes on the tray, completing the breakfast youâve been making for years; maple syrup, coffee, pancakes, hash browns, and toast.
He jots down the note, âIâll always love you :).â
He hears you coming down the stairs and mentally prides himself on his perfect timing, quickly organizing everything and turning toward the door frame that separates the kitchen from the living room.
You enter the scene as he scratches his tangled nest of hair and tries to adjust the pj's that have been tossing and turning throughout the night, his face is imprinted with pillows and Bradley feels like heâs going to faint from how beautiful his wife is.
âGood morning, my love.â
âHm.â You just smile, you donât like talking to anyone when youâre barely awake and he knows that so he doesnât force you.
You open your eyes and stop in your tracks when you see your breakfast, looking at your husband with a small smile and a blush on his face.
âOh, Bradley!â
âItâs been a long time since we had breakfast together.â He mutters and you settle between his legs (you sat down so you could eat with him) and walk over to him to take his face in your hands, placing small kisses on his sparsely stubbled face and lips.
You sit down and the two of you start eating, chatting from time to time.
He looked proud of himself as he watched you eat pancakes with maple syrup, but you tasted the coffee and spit it back into the cup.
"Hey! Why did you do that?" He asks you with a hurt expression on his face.
"I'm sorry honey, but it tastes awful."Â
You reply with a grimace as you pour yourself a glass of apple juice to drink it all down.
Bradley takes your coffee from you and takes a sip; it tastes perfectly normal, very good if he has to admit, but he decides to leave you alone and let you continue with a glass of apple juice.
You were happily continuing to eat, of course, until you popped a small piece of egg yolk into your mouth.
Bradley doesnât have time to complain when youâre throwing up in the sink anyway.
He quickly drops his coffee and walks over to you, grabbing your hair and patting your back until you pull yourself together, wiping your face with the sleeve of his shirt as he looks at you.
âI donât feel so good.â You mumbled with a pout that made Bradleyâs heart ache.
âItâs okay, honey.â He pulls you into his chest. âWhy donât you lie down? Iâll put everything aside and join you as soon as I can.â
You nod and look into his eyes. âIâm sorry I messed this up.â
He smiles sadly as he brushes his sweaty hair from his forehead. âYou didnât mess anything up, to be honest, I was really looking forward to staying in bed with you.â
You leave and ten minutes pass while Bradley gets breakfast, maybe saving it for later. Heâs washing the cups when he notices something while one of them drying in the sink.
He picks up his phone with his half-dried hands and opens the conversation he had with his mother a week ago.
"Everything is fine honey. Your cousin is pregnant and can't handle eggs and coffee so we're taking care of her now. Kisses, honey, I love you and Y/N!! đđđ"
Eggs and coffee.
Eggs.
Coffee.
He grips the marble countertop as he tries to catch his breath.
Could it be..?
God, he's going to faint at the thought.
He couldnât believe he had such a good memory to remember such a mundane message between his mother and him.
You run your hand over your face as you trie to come back to reality if sheâs pregnantâŚor not..
Damn it, you canât think straight, and if it wasnât for Duke jumping on the counter and barking in your face, then youâd still be going crazy.
You turn off the faucet and run upstairs, ignoring Bradley's fuzzy nerves as he enters your shared bedroom, you stare at him in fear.
âTake a pregnancy test.â Thatâs all he says, and you get out of bed in confusion.
âWhat?â You ask, approaching him. âAre you okay? You look pale.â You cup his face.
âYeah, yeah.â He responds excitedly, letting you examine his face.
âJust, please, you have to.â
âOkay, Iâll do it and youâll calm down.â He looks into your eyes and nods. âCome on.â
Bradley can barely control himself as you pee on four sticks to make sure, wandering the bathroom and bedroom until you come out.
âWe need to wait five minutes, do you want to explain whatâs going on?â
You both sit on the bed and hold his hands to comfort him, which does the trick.
âYouâre going to think Iâm crazy, but do you remember when my mom told me Marienne was pregnant and couldnât stand eggs nor coffee?â
âYeah.â You answer, and your eyes widen in understanding. âOh my god. What do you think..â
âI donât know.â Bradley shakes his head, trying to swallow the lump in his throat. âI donât know.â
The minutes pass and the both of you gets crazier and crazier; You feel like you're going to tear your hair out in desperation, and Bradley wants to throw up again for the tenth time as he playes with his rings.
There has to be something else, he doesnât even know how to take care of babies, was it his paternal instinct? no, this is stupid, maybe heâs not going to be a father and heâs just going crazy.
Heâs an idiot, now your hopes are up and he doesn't want to have to see the look of disappointment on your perfect face again.
So lost in his thoughts that he doesn't notice you get up from behind him to re-enter the bathroom, slowly reappearing with four tests in your hands, unable to take your eyes off them as you mumble;
âPositive.â
Bradley raised his head as soon as he heard you, his eyes met your now teary ones and he stood up, approaching you, ypu are showing him all the positive lines that showed your baby growing inside you. His fucking wife is pregnant.
You put them down and throw yourself into your husband's arms, clinging to each other, making you both fall backwards onto the bed.
You cry into Bradley's chest while he cries into yours.
You feel like you're going to faint from the tears and sobs pouring out of both of your bodies, a tremendous happiness fills your entire body as millions of things go through your head. Same for him too.
Bradley talks to pregnant women's bellies, Bradley holds a small chubby baby, Bradley plays the piano with a small child, Bradley rocks a baby, Bradley and your babies will be like this.
Sooner or later, it would all come true.
Meanwhile, Bradley is still crying as if he's never cried in his life, you're sitting with him in your arms and he moves his hands between them to rest on your belly. "There's a baby inside," he says, his voice breaking.
You laugh and lean your forehead against his. "There's a baby inside."
Both of you look at each other, your eyes fill with tears and you both start laughing, you kiss, ignoring the salty taste of teardrops. You kiss, trying to convey everything that cannot be expressed in words to each other, but now there is someone who proves that their love is possible.
"A perfect blend of us,there it is." Bradley's and yours belly felt like there were fireworks inside. He can't wait to sing and play the piano to his love's growing belly, to hold that tiny hand.
He just can't wait.
"I love you." He sees the tears continue to flow down your cheeks as you part your lips. "I love you Bradley, we did it."
"We did it." He repeats, squeezing your waist between his hands. "We did it, we're having a baby, I told you."
"I can't believe you found out because I threw up your breakfast."
"Because you would never throw up something I make, I'm an incredible chef."
Both laugh again and Bradley flips both of you over, laying you between him and the bed, laughing at the kisses he spreads across your face, neck, and lifting the robe slightly to reveal the soft skin of your belly.Â
It was keeping his baby warm in there.
Duke seems to notice the happiness that is coming from the room, he climbs into bed and cuddles up to his motherâs chest, who is happily caressing Bradley's hair and cheeck's.
Bradley kisses the area on your belly as you stroke Duke's scalp, and his tears continue to flow when he sees you talking to Duke about the baby.
He whispers something, but you and maybe someone else can hear him clearly.
âWelcome home, baby. You are already loved.â
âYeah, I always wanted to have your stupid children.â
