HEART RACING
Warnings: 8k+ words, bad writing, kissing, relationship started from a bet, slightly ooc vada (idk?) reader has she/her pronouns, ur best friends is kinda a dick ig
A/N: this was highly inspired by shes all that + i'm still kinda on my break, sorry if it seems like im ignoring asks
Summary: You take on a bet from your best friend, but what happens when you start regretting your decision.
"I'm so excited." Jordan, your childhood best friend says, smiling at you. You narrow your eyes at the brunette boy, adjusting your bookbag strap that was slipping off your shoulder. "I wonder what dish your mom is going to make this time." He adds on, that goofy smile of his never leaves his face.
"Yeah." You mumble, trying to hide your nerves about the upcoming break. "Yeah, I hope it's something delicious," you reply, forcing a smile. Jordan reads you like a book, tilting his head before letting out a soft laugh.
"Don't tell me you're worried about your parents bothering you about having a girlfriend." You shake your head, furrowing your eyebrows, as your eyes stay attached to the trail in front of you.
"It's just... this happens every holiday! Oh, Y/N, where's your girlfriend? Oh, Y/N! Who's the lucky girl?" You mock your parents before letting out a sigh and stopping your walk to face Jordan.
"Why can't I just be single and enjoy my high school experience without constantly being questioned about my love life?" you vent, frustration evident in your voice. Jordan raises an eyebrow, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "To be fair, you haven't brought a girl home since freshman year. And you're now a senior. Did you see how happy they were?"
You roll your eyes at Jordan, "What about Ana? I brought her home." Jordan chuckles, shaking his head. "Ana doesn't count. You faked a relationship, and your parents read right through it. They know you too well."
You sigh, memories of that awkward dinner with Ana and your parents flooding back. "Yeah, that was a disaster. I guess I just wanted to avoid the constant interrogation for a while." Jordan smirks. "Maybe it's time you actually find someone worth bringing home."
"Yeah, sure. It wouldn't be hard to, I just need someone to be able to play the part. My parents do not care who I date whatsoever, just as long as I'm dating them." You tell him, scratching your eyebrow.
Jordan raises an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "You wanna bet on it?" You raise an eyebrow in response, curious about what Jordan has in mind. "What kind of bet are we talking about here?"
"I pick the girl, and you have to bring her home to meet your parents on Christmas," Jordan says, a smirk playing on his lips. "And if you succeed, I'll do your math homework for the rest of the year."
You eye Jordan before holding out your hand. "Deal." Jordan's smile widens as he shakes your hand. "Let's go find your lover." You laugh, following Jordan as the two of you start scanning the school for potential candidates.
"What about her?" You ask Jordan, nodding your head in the direction of a girl blowing bubbles. Jordan glances over at the girl blowing bubbles and raises an eyebrow. "Hmm, she seems carefree and fun-loving. Definitely a possibility," he teases. "But no!"
You continue searching, your eyes landing on a girl sitting alone in the library, engrossed in a book. "What about her?" you suggest to Jordan, pointing her out. Jordan observes her for a moment before responding, "Too boring."
"Ohhh, maybe her!" Jordan laughs loudly, pointing at a girl picking out her wedgie. You chuckle at Jordan's suggestion, but quickly shake your head. "I don't think so," you say, trying to stifle your laughter. "Let's keep looking."
"Hey! I'm the one picking here. I have the go-to." You shake your head. "Then pick."
Just as you say that a girl trips on her own shoelaces and stumbles forward, nearly falling face-first, Jordan bursts into laughter. "I think we have a winner!" You look over at the girl, who searches around to see if anyone has seen her embarrassing moment. She quickly regains her composure and brushes off the incident, pretending like nothing happened.
"Vada Cavell?" You yell at Jordan, "You've gotta be joking, man." Jordan chuckles and shrugs. "Hey, you said to pick. And she definitely caught my attention with that little stumble." You roll your eyes, not convinced that this is the best choice for your fake partner.
"Look. Ugly, bad personality, a bit on the smelly side, I can handle." You glance back at Vada, sighing.
"But I draw the line at someone who can't even walk without tripping over their own feet," you say, exasperated. Jordan laughs again, defending his choice. "A bet is a bet!" You open your mouth to argue again, but Jordan beats you.
"Hey, if I were you, I wouldn't be wasting my time. Because according to my calculations, you only have about four weeks to turn her into your perfect fake partner before Christmas. And if Vada Cavell is going to be that somebody, you've pretty much got your work cut off for you. "
You sigh and reluctantly agree, knowing that you can't back out of the bet now. You walk over to Vada Cavell, who is sitting with a blonde-haired girl at a table, engrossed in her phone.
"Hi, Vada. You got a second?" You ask, trying to sound casual as you approach her. Vada looks up from her phone with a hint of curiosity in her eyes. Mia, the blonde-haired girl, drops her jaw at the sight of you. You send her a small smile.
"Hi, Mia. I saw your soccer video on Instagram. "It was really impressive," you compliment, trying to make small talk. Vada raises an eyebrow, while Mia blushes. "You watch my videos?"
"You don't play soccer." Vada states matter-of-factly, glaring at her best friend. Mia looks sheepish, realizing your mistake. "Oh, sorry." You tell Mia who quickly brushes off the comment with a dismissive wave.
"So, Vada, listen," you begin, trying to redirect the conversation. "I was wondering maybe if you wanna..." Vada quickly stands up, interrupting you. "Let's go, Mia."
Mia gives you an apologetic smile before following Vada, leaving you feeling slightly embarrassed and rejected. You sigh, realizing that your attempt to ask Vada out didn't go as planned. "...embarrass me horribly in front of all these people?" You finish trailing off to yourself. You look back at Jordan, who's bending over, trying to stop himself from laughing so hard.
With a tight-lipped smile, you send him the finger, knowing that he's enjoying your embarrassment a little too much.

This was a bet, and you needed to win it. It wasn't like you were failing any of your classes, but you were tired of all the math homework Mr. Smith kept assigning. Plus, you'd love to see the defeated look on Jordan's face after Vada, and you successfully convinced your parents you found yourself a girlfriend.
In order to win this bet, you had to text Mia through Instagram direct messages and ask her where you could find Vada after school. Mia sent you a screenshot of Vada's Find My Phone, showing her location in a downtown park. You knew this was your chance to prove Jordan wrong and finally have some peace from Mr. Smith's math assignments.
Vada's eyes widen as she sees you walking closer to her, regardless, you send her your charming smile, which she doesn't reciprocate. "You know stalking is illegal in all 50 states, right?" Vada says, her voice laced with caution.
You quickly assure her that you were just trying to find her so you could talk. "I apologize if it seemed like stalking, but I genuinely wanted to have a conversation with you," you explain, hoping to ease her concerns.
"I'm not smart." Vada admits her eyes never leave yours. "What?" You breathe out a laugh, confused. "What? You think that I can tutor you or something?" Vada continues, a hint of vulnerability in her voice. "You're probably thinking, Oh, there's Vada, she dresses like a hippie—"
"Vada."
"—Barely has any friends."
"Vada."
"—She must at least be smart." You cut her off gently, placing a hand on her arm. "Vada, I have the fourth highest GPA in our grade." Vada looks at you with surprise evident in her eyes. "Really?" she asks, her voice filled with disbelief.
"Yes, really," you reply reassuringly. "It's true." You slightly jump at the sudden voice. Turning around, you see Vada's other best friend, Nick, sitting a few feet away.
"So what do you want? Is this some sort of dork outreach program?" Vada asks, rolling her eyes. "No, Vada," you say calmly, trying to hide your frustration. "I just wanted to hang out."
Vada raises an eyebrow, skeptical of your intentions. "Just hang out? With us?" she questions, her tone still laced with doubt. You nod, hoping to convince her that you genuinely want to enjoy their company. "Yeah, I thought it would be fun to get to know some new people," you explain, hoping she'll give you a chance.
"Sure, me and Vada were about to go to this stand-up comedy club. You can have my ticket if you want." Nick shrugs, ignoring the confused glare from his best friend.
Vada looks at Nick in surprise, clearly not expecting him to offer his ticket. "Really? You're giving up your ticket for her?" she asks, very confused. Nick shrugs again, flashing a grin while he holds out his ticket for you.
You take the ticket with a grateful smile, "Thank you, Nick. Are you sure? I could just buy my own if you want to go too." Nick shakes his head, "Nah, I've gotta go study for my presentation anyway." His phone chimes right after, and he quickly checks it, confirming his need to leave.
"Well, have fun at the club! Let me know how it goes," he says before hurriedly walking away. You watch him go, feeling a mix of gratitude and curiosity about why he would give up his ticket for you.
You send Vada a smile, "I guess I'm your plus one tonight." Vada narrows her eyes at you, still confused about why you, one of the most popular students in school, is so fascinated with her. "I'm still confused about why you're putting on this act. Are you trying to impress someone, or is there another reason behind it?"
You furrow your eyebrows, letting out a small laugh. "Are you always this skeptical? I assure you, there's no ulterior motive. I simply wanted to enjoy your company and spend the evening with you." Vada's expression softens slightly, but she still seems hesitant.
"Well, we should get going." Vada mumbles, brushing a small strand of hair behind her ear.
You follow Vada down the slightly busy streets, neon lights illuminating the sidewalks as people bustle by. You can't help but notice Vada's occasional glances in your direction, her guarded demeanor slowly melting away.
"I like your jewelry." It's unique and really suits your style," you comment, trying to ease the tension. Vada's face lights up with a genuine smile as she thanks you for the compliment.
"Do you always wear that letterman jacket? You look like you came straight out of a 90s movie." Vada says, laughing softly. "Oh, are you going to be an act too for this stand-up comedy thing?" You ask, joking.
"But, yeah, it's kind of my signature look," you reply with a chuckle. "I've always been drawn to that vintage aesthetic." Vada nods, her curiosity evident as she asks, "So, what other things inspire your style?"
"I don't know... I normally thrift a lot of my clothes," you admit. "Whether it's someone's old band t-shirt or their grandpa's old sweater, I love finding unique pieces. I also take inspiration from old photographs and films, especially from the 60s and 70s."
Vada smiles, clearly intrigued by your explanation. "I'm not a huge fashion before myself, but I don't know, I just like to be comfortable." You glance down at Vada's baggy attire, noticing the loose-fitting jeans and oversized hoodie.
"I totally get that," you reply. "Comfort is definitely important, and there's no right or wrong way to express yourself through fashion. It's all about finding what makes you feel good." Vada nods in agreement, playing with the drawstring on her hoodie.

There's an awkward silence as the comedian fails to deliver the punchline of his joke. Vada laughs in her own hand, trying not to be too loud. You can't help but smile as you glance at the shorter girl, confused. You lean into her ear, "I'm so confused. How was that funny?"
Vada chuckles and whispers back, "It wasn't. It was funny how no one was laughing." You glance around the room before laughing a bit yourself. She was right. Seeing the confused looks on everyone's faces made the situation even more amusing. It was as if the entire audience collectively missed the punchline.
You begin laughing even harder, unable to contain your amusement. The more you think about it, the funnier it becomes. Vada joins in on your laughter, hiding her face behind her hand as tears of laughter stream down her face.
"Why are you laughing, huh? You think it's easy to stand up here and try and do something you love?" The male comedian asks you, obviously upset that you're laughing at his expense. You quickly compose yourself, glancing at Vada, whose eyes are wide as she smiles, trying not to laugh again.
You raise your hand, trying to apologize for the misunderstanding, but the comedian interrupts you. "Well, if you think it's so easy, why don't you come up here and give it a shot?" he challenges, pointing towards the stage.
You shake your head with a tiny smile on your lips. "Come on, come up here." You squint your eyes as a light begins to shine on you from the stage. The audience starts cheering and encouraging you to take the comedian's challenge.
You look at Vada, "Go!" She says this, smiling as she pushes you from your seat. Reluctantly, you take a deep breath and make your way towards the stage, your heart beating in your chest. The comedian hands you the microphone with a smug look on his face.
Your shaky hands take the microphone, "Uh..." Your voice trembles as you try to gather your thoughts. You glance at an audience member who has a gutair strapped around their shoulder, and a lightbulb goes off in your head. "I'm not a comedian, but I can try and entertain you all another way."
With a nervous smile, you motion towards the audience member with the guitar, saying, "Can I borrow that for a second?" The audience member hesitates for a moment, but then nods and hands you the guitar. You place the microphone on its stand before stepping forward and strumming a few chords to test the sound.
"Something bad is bout' to happen to me. Why I feel this way, I don't know, baby." You sing with a raspy voice, closing your eyes and letting the music take over.
The crowd falls silent, captivated by the raw emotion in your performance. Vada is shocked, her eyes widening as she watches you on stage. She had no idea you could sing.
"I think of her so much it drives me crazy. I just don't want her to leave me."
You continue to sing Steve Lacy's iconic lyrics, pouring your heart out on stage. You hit the high notes, sending chills down the spines of everyone in the audience. This was much better than the comedy act they were just witnessing.
When you finish the song, Vada's the first one standing up and clapping, with others soon following. You open your eyes to see the crowd on their feet, their applause echoing through the venue. The look of surprise and admiration on Vada's face is priceless, and you can't help but smile broadly.
You push open the door to leave the club and are immediately greeted by a rush of cool night air. "That was so awesome! Just like...going up there and performing in front of all those people, it's such a rush," you exclaim, your eyes still shining with excitement.
Vada nods, her dimples deepening as she grins. "I never expected you to be such a natural on stage. It's like you were born to perform," she says, her voice filled with genuine admiration.
The two of you stop walking as you reach the edge of the sidewalk, taking a moment to catch your breath and let the adrenaline settle. The city lights twinkle above you, casting a magical glow on the vibrant streets below.
You glance over to Vada, and she glances back at you with a faint smile playing on her lips. "You hungry?" You ask, gesturing towards a nearby food truck. The tantalizing aroma of sizzling street food fills the air, making your stomach growl in response. Vada's eyes light up at the suggestion, and she nods eagerly, her excitement matching your own.
-
Vada smiles, her hair blowing in the wind due to the drop-top on your convertible. It's been three weeks since the comedy club, but the memory of that night still brings a smile to your face. The chemistry between you and Vada is undeniable, and you can't help but wonder what other adventures await the two of you.
Kali Uchis blasts through your speakers, filling the car with her soulful melodies. The warm sun kisses your skin as you drive along the scenic coastal road, creating the perfect backdrop for a carefree summer day.
You catch a glimpse of Vada through the side mirror, her hair blowing in the wind, and a contagious laugh escaping her lips. The connection between you two feels effortless, as if you've known each other for years.
"I just wanna get high with my lover!" Vada sings along to the lyrics, and you join in, "Veo una muñeca cuando miro en el espejo!"
Vada leans in closer to you, kissing your cheek gently while she sings more of the lyrics. "Kiss, kiss! Looking dolly, I think I might go out tonight. I just wanna ride get high in the moonlight."
The song proceeds to play, and your singing becomes more enthusiastic, matching Vada's energy. You both dance and laugh, completely lost in the moment. Soon, you both arrive at the beach, your phone ringing as you step outside the car.
"Hello?" You answer the phone and hear Jordan's voice on the other end. "Y/N! Where are you? I just stopped by your house, and you weren't there. I wanted to hang out tonight."
Vada waits patiently for you to end the phone call, holding all of your stuff in her hands.
"Oh, I'm uh...I'm not home right now." You mumble into the phone, scratching your nose. "Well, no shit. Where are you?"
"I'm actually at the beach with Vada," you reply, glancing at Vada, who raises an eyebrow curiously. "But maybe we can hang out tomorrow." You can basically hear the grin on Jordan's face.
"The beach, huh? You and Vada have been hanging out nearly every damn day. Don't tell me you're actually enjoying this bet, Y/LN." You chuckle and respond, "Goodbye, Jordan."
You quickly end the call, sending Vada a smile. You take the items from her hands, thankful for her help. As you start setting up your spot on the beach, Vada asks, "So, what did Jordan want?"
"To bother me," you reply with a dismissive wave. "He's always trying to pry into my business." Vada raises an eyebrow, clearly intrigued, but respects your privacy and doesn't press further. A part of you feels bad for becoming friends with Vada under such circumstances. She was a chill and easygoing person, and you found yourself truly enjoying yourself around her.
You couldn't help but wonder if you should tell her about the bet going on between you and Jordan or if you should just end the friendship altogether. It was a difficult decision to make, as you didn't want to risk losing the connection you had with Vada, but at the same time, keeping such a secret felt dishonest.
"Hey, where's the pump for this?" Vada asks, holding up the beach ball you packed with the rest of the beach gear. You smile, grateful for the distraction from your internal dilemma, and point her in the direction of the pump, except it's not there.
"Oh, shit." You frantically search through the beach bag, realizing that you must have forgotten to pack the pump. "Here, I'll just blow into it." You offer, trying to come up with a quick solution. However, as you start blowing into the beach ball, you quickly realize that it's going to take a lot more effort than you anticipated.
You feel yourself getting lightheaded as you continue to blow into the beach ball, desperately trying to inflate it. Vada giggles at your struggle, you send her a playful glare, but her laughter only encourages you to keep going.
"What if we take turns?" Vada suggests, hoping to alleviate some of the strain on you. You gratefully agree, handing her the faintly inflated beach ball. You expect her to wipe off the ball since your mouth was in fact directly on it, but she doesn't seem to mind.
Your heart begins racing. You basically just shared a kiss with Vada, even if it was through a beach ball. The thought of it sends a rush of excitement through your veins.
Vada hands you the ball back, slightly out of breath. You smile, hesitating for a moment before placing your lips on the ball again. After a while, the ball is fully inflated, and you both start tossing it back and forth, laughing and enjoying each other's company.
"Don't let it drop!" Vada yells out, her laughter echoing across the beach. You run as fast as you can, determined to keep the ball in the air. The sand squishes between your toes as you dive to smack it back into the air. The sound of the ball hitting your palm fills the air, creating a rhythmic pattern that matches the beat of your racing heart.
"God, do you play volleyball?" Vada asks, her eyes widening with excitement. You shake your head, catching your breath, and reply, "No, but I guess I could give it a try!"
You smack the ball a bit too hard, and it flies over Vada's head, landing in the sand behind her. She turns around, a playful grin on her face, and says, "I'm definitely not getting that." You chuckle, running over to retrieve the ball. Before you can, someone kicks it away, sending it rolling further down the beach.
"The fuck—" you stop yourself, looking up and noticing Jordan. Jordan, with a mischievous smirk on his face, shrugs and says, "Oops, my bad! Thought I'd give you a challenge."
"What are you doing here?" you ask, slightly annoyed by Jordan's interference. He chuckles and replies, "Just enjoying the beach with my friends."
You look behind him, noticing he's brought company—some of your friends and other people you've hung around with before. They wave at you, smiling and clearly excited to see you. Jordan adds, "We thought it would be fun to have a little gathering here. Hope you don't mind."
You narrow your eyes at your best friend. "You're an asshole. You're only doing this because I told you I was hanging out with Vada here." Jordan raises an eyebrow, feigning innocence. "Come on, don't be like that. It's just a coincidence that you're both here too."
You let out a sigh, realizing that Jordan's actions were most likely intentional. Despite feeling annoyed, you decide to put aside your frustration and make the best of the situation. "Alright, fine. Now go get my beach ball."
Jordan smirks, clearly enjoying the power he holds over you. "Sure thing, but only if you promise to introduce me to Vada later." You roll your eyes, knowing that Jordan's ulterior motives are far from innocent.
You walk over to Vada, plopping down beside her on her towel. She looks up at you with a smile, unaware of the tension between you and Jordan. "Sorry about that. He just invited himself...and everyone else."
Vada smiles, shaking her head. "It's okay. If we're going to be friends, I'd have to meet your other friends anyway." You chuckle, relieved that Vada doesn't seem bothered by Jordan's presence.
You begin unbuttoning your shirt, feeling a bit hot in it, leaving you in your white tank top. Vada glances over at you, her eyes lingering for a moment before she looks away, a faint blush creeping onto her cheeks.
Jordan walks over and throws the beach ball, obviously aiming to hit your face. You quickly catch it, sending your best friend a glare. Jordan lets out a silly laugh, clearly enjoying the playful banter. Vada raises an eyebrow at Jordan's antics, but her smile remains intact as she watches the interaction between the two of you.
"Someone has the guns out." Austin, another one of your friends says, walking toward the group with a mischievous grin. You roll your eyes at his comment, playfully flexing your muscles in response.
"You mean these?" You flex your biceps, exaggerating the muscles for comedic effect. Austin chuckles and nods, teasingly adding, "Yeah, those tiny peashooters." You playfully throw the ball at him, pretending to be offended by his remark.
"Alright, stop showing off in front of the pretty lady." Jordan teases, winking at Vada. Vada's face breaks into confusion, as she wonders if Jordan's comment was meant as a compliment or a joke. She looks at Austin for clarification, who shrugs and smirks, leaving her even more uncertain about the situation.
"Let's play a full game of volleyball," Austin suggests, picking up the beachball that had been thrown at him. Vada eagerly agrees, grateful for the distraction from the awkward tension between Jordan and herself.
You all split into two teams, with Vada and Jordan on one side and Austin and you on the other. Jordan serves the ball with a powerful swing, causing Austin to dive to the sand to make a save.
"Stop trying so hard, bitch!" Austin yells at Jordan with a smile on his lips. Jordan laughs, brushing off the comment with a playful smirk. The friendly banter between them lightens the atmosphere, allowing everyone to relax and enjoy the game even more.
Mid-game, Vada takes off her slightly baggy shirt, which she tied with a knot at the front, revealing her bikini. You notice Jordan staring at Vada, his eyes lingering on her, causing jealousy to rise within you.
You smack the ball against Jordan's head, catching him off guard and breaking his gaze. He glares at you, earning a shrug, as you innocently raise your hands in defense. "You had a bug on your head."
-
You're dropping Vada off at her house after the game when she turns to you with a smile. "Thanks for saving me from Jordan's ogling," she says, playfully nudging your arm. "I owe you one."
You smile, blushing a bit. "You saw that?" You ask, your eye's widening slightly. Vada chuckles and nods, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "Oh, I definitely saw that. You were like my personal superhero swooping in to save the day."
"Well, I couldn't let him make you uncomfortable," you reply, feeling a surge of protectiveness. "I'm always here to look out for you." Vada's smile widens, and she leans in closer. You glance behind her and say, "I could walk you to the door.
Vada blinks and looks at you, her expression softening. "Sure." You quickly get out of the car, making your way to Vada's side. Shoving your hands in your pockets to hide your nerves, you match Vada's pace as you both walk towards her front door. The night air is cool, but the warmth of Vada's presence makes it feel comforting.
"If you want, we could hang out tomorrow?" You ask, hoping to spend more time with Vada. Before she could respond, her front door flies open. A short figure emerges from the doorway, causing both you and Vada to pause. It's Vada's younger sister who greets you with a friendly smile.
"Hey, guys! What are you up to?" she asks, oblivious to the tension in the air.
"Oh my god, Amelia." Vada exclaims, clearly annoyed with her younger sister's interruption. Amelia shrugs innocently, not realizing the impact of her sudden appearance. Vada takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself before addressing the situation.
"Mom! Vada brought a lesbian home!" Amelia shouts, slightly turning her head towards her mother, who is in the next room.
Everyone freezes, unsure of how to react to Amelia's unexpected announcement. Vada's face turns red with embarrassment while you thin out your lips, confused and a bit amused.
Vada's mouth drops. "I am so sorry." She says to you, her voice filled with genuine remorse. You shrug her off while Amelia gasps. "Oh, are you not a lesbian?"
You chuckle, "Um...I do like girls." Before Amelia could press you for more information, Vada's mom appears in the doorway. "What's going on here?" she asks, her voice laced with worry. Vada quickly explains the situation, hoping to diffuse any potential tension.
"I was just dropping Vada off from the beach," you also add, trying to ease any concerns. "We were just having a casual conversation, nothing serious." Vada's mom looks relieved and nods understandingly.
"Well, as long as everyone is okay," she says with a smile. You exchange a grateful glance with Vada, grateful for her mom's understanding.
"Would you like to stay for dinner?" Vada's mom offers, wanting to extend her gratitude for your honesty and reassure you that everything is alright. You glance at Vada, who stares at her mom with a shocked expression. "That would be really nice," you respond, feeling touched by Vada's mom's kindness.
Dinner was fun. Amelia had no filter, which made everything hilarious and entertaining. She shared funny and embarrassing stories of Vada, which Vada tries to interrupt with playful protests. Despite the initial shock, Vada soon joins in on the laughter, realizing that her sister's antics brought out a huge and genuine smile on your face.
There were also serious moments during dinner where Vada's parents questioned you about your future plans and aspirations. They were genuinely interested in your goals and offered advice and support. It was refreshing to have such meaningful conversations with Vada's family, making you feel like a valued member of their circle.
You throw yourself on Vada's bed, falling face first onto the soft pillows. Vada plops on top of your back, laughing at your dramatic entrance. She soon rolls off of you, and you lay on your back, gazing up at the ceiling.
Vada was such a breath of fresh air in your life. Her carefree spirit is infectious, and you can't help but feel happy every single time you're around her.
She has a way of making even the simplest moments feel special, and her laughter is like music to your ears. Being friends with Vada has brought so much joy and light into your life, and you can't imagine what it would be like without her.
Fuck this bet, you think to yourself. Vada's friendship is worth so much more than any silly wager.
"You look deep in thought." Vada's voice interrupts your contemplation, pulling you back to the present moment. "What's on your mind?" she asks, her eyes filled with genuine concern.
You turn your head towards Vada, a small smile forming on your lips. "I was just thinking about how grateful I am to have you as a friend," you say sincerely. "Your friendship means the world to me."
"You're so sappy." Vada mumbles, laughing softly. You break out into a smile. "I'm pouring my heart out here, c'mon!" You tease playfully, putting on an Italian accent.
Vada rolls her eyes, but her smile betrays her amusement. "That was one of the worst Italian accents I've ever heard," she says, chuckling. "But...you mean a lot to me too."
You feel a warm rush of affection as Vada's words sink in. "I'm glad to hear that," you reply, licking your lips. A comfortable silence falls over the two of you as you both bask in the genuine connection and shared vulnerability. Your eyes never leave each other, as if speaking a language that only the two of you understand.
"Is that all?" Vada breaks the silence. "Or is there something else you want to say?"
"Be my girlfriend?" Vada's eyes widen with surprise, and she stares at you. She takes a moment to process your words before responding, "Okay."
-
"I'm even more excited than I was." Jordan smiles, "I can't believe you got away with that." You shake your head at your best friend, an eye roll following.
"No, seriously. You asked her to be your girlfriend, it's barely been a month, and you didn't even kiss her after? Shits crazy."
You put the last plate on the table, "Shut the fuck up, Jordan."
Jordan chuckles, raising his hands in surrender. "Alright, alright, I'll drop it. But seriously, man, you might've won this bet. Still gotta get the parents approval, though."
You let out a sigh, saying, "Maybe we should drop this bet, man." Jordan raises an eyebrow, a mischievous grin forming on his face. "Are you getting cold feet already? Come on, don't tell me you're chickening out now."
You shoot him a glare but can't help but feel a twinge of doubt. "It's just... I don't want to risk ruining our friendship over some stupid bet." Jordan starts to smirk. "Oh shit, you actually caught feeling for her? You can't be serious."
You roll your eyes, trying to brush off Jordan's teasing. "So, what? She's a nice girl, and I don't want to mess things up with this stupid bet about her."
Jordan chuckles, bringing his fist to his mouth. "I can't believe you're actually considering backing out because of a little crush. You've never been one to shy away from a challenge before."
He sighs, adding to his argument. "How about this? If your parents go for it, we'll drop the bet. But if they don't, you have to tell her it was a bet and apologize for any hurt feelings. It's only fair to give her the truth and a chance to decide if she still wants to pursue a relationship with you."
"Fine." You mutter, leaving the room with a heavy sigh.
Vada arrives at your doorstep, a nervous smile on her face. She seems unaware of the bet that has been made and the doubts that have been plaguing you. As you open the door, you can't help but wonder if this could be the start of something real or if it's all just a game that will eventually come crashing down.
You bring Vada into a hug, mumbling into her ear, "I'm glad you're here." Vada returns the hug, sighing contentedly. You pull away, looking into her eyes.
"My dad is in the kitchen." Vada nods, hearing Bad Bunny blaring from the speakers. "Where's your mom?" You begin walking toward the kitchen, "She's in the living room, finishing up the tree. I'll introduce you to her later. Let's go say hi to my dad first." Vada smiles and follows you, playing with her ring as you lead the way.
"Una dominicana que es uva bombón!" Your dad shouts, singing the lyrics. Jordan joins in, singing the next line. "Uva, uva bombón!" You facepalm, shaking your head at their silliness. Vada giggles, clearly amused by their antics.
"Dad!" You shout, trying to regain their attention. "We have a guest here, remember?" Your dad and Jordan finally notice Vada standing there, and their faces light up with surprise and excitement. "Oh wow, who do we have here?" your dad asks, extending his hand towards Vada.
"This is Vada, my girlfriend." You introduce Vada with a smile. Vada returns the gesture, shaking your dad's hand warmly. "Girlfriend? Am I dreaming?" your dad exclaims, a wide grin spreading across his face. "I never thought I'd see the day! It's great to finally meet you, Vada."
You sigh at your father. "Es bonita, mija." You clear your throat, blushing a bit. "Suficiente papá." Your dad chuckles and playfully nudges you. "No need to be shy. I'm just happy to see you happy." Vada smiles warmly at both of you, grateful for the warm welcome.
Your mom walks in, her eyes widening with surprise as she takes in the scene. "Well, well, well," she says with a smirk. "Looks like someone finally found themselves a catch." You roll your eyes at your mom's teasing, but deep down, you appreciate her support and acceptance.
Vada begins talking to your parents while you excuse yourself to speak to Jordan. "Looks like I won the bet." You say with a playful smile, feeling a sense of triumph. Jordan chuckles and shakes his head, admitting defeat.
"Jordan, Y/N, come help me bring out the food." Your mom calls out, breaking the playful banter between you and Jordan. You both exchange amused glances before making your way to help her, Vada also joins, eager to lend a hand.
Jordan is the last to leave the kitchen, hearing your parents talk about Vada. "Crees que es otro truco?" Your dad asks your mom. Jordan leans against the kitchen counter, listening intently to your parents' conversation about Vada. He raises an eyebrow, curious about their suspicions.
"No lo sé, cariño. Parece genuino, no crees?" Your dad shrugs at your mother's question, contemplating the authenticity of Vada's intentions. Jordan rushes out to the dining room, catching you staring at Vada like a lovesick puppy.
"Y/N." Jordan calls out your name, interrupting your daydreaming and bringing you back to reality. You hum, nodding your head at him. "Can I talk to you for a second?" You nod and follow Jordan to a quieter corner of the room.
"I heard your parents talking about how they think this is a trick." He begins to smirk, "Maybe this bet may be mine anyways." You roll your eyes, tired of this stupid bet.
"Whatever bro. I just wanna eat and enjoy dinner without any drama." Jordan chuckles, his smirk fading slightly. "Come on, Y/N. You know it's all in good fun. Besides, it's not like Vada and you are actually gonna last." You raise an eyebrow at him, wondering what he's getting at.
"What do you mean by that?" you ask, leaning in closer to Jordan. "Are you trying to say that Vada and I don't have a real connection?" Jordan shrugs, a sneaky glint in his eyes. "I'm just saying, Y/N, relationships at our age rarely go the distance. But hey, prove me wrong."
You scoff at him, "Sure...whatever you say. Don't be shocked when Vada and I prove you wrong and end up together for the long haul." Jordan raises an eyebrow, his sneaky glint fading slightly. "Well, I guess time will tell," he concedes, a hint of doubt in his voice.
When dinner ends, everyone begins to clean up and put away the dishes. "Have you seen my AirPods anywhere?" you ask Jordan, hoping he might have seen them. "You left them in my car like an entire month ago."
You roll your eyes and playfully nudge him. "Seriously? You couldn't have mentioned that earlier?" Jordan chuckles and shrugs. "I guess I wanted to see how long it would take for you to realize they were missing."
"You're a dickhead."
"Language!" From the kitchen, your mom scolds, reminding you to watch your language. You sheepishly apologize and snatch Jordan's keys from him. He glares at you, pulling at his phone that began ringing in his pocket.
"Wanna get some air?" You ask Vada, gesturing towards the open front door. Vada nods, following behind you as you step outside. "Your parents are nice. They're pretty chill, and your mom is honestly like drop-dead gorgeous."
You chuckle. "Do I have to compete with my mom for your attention now?" Vada laughs and playfully nudges you. "Nah, don't worry. You're more than enough for me."
You walk to Jordan's car, leaning against it as you wait for Vada to join you. "Wanna sit in the car?" You suggest, knowing that it might be more comfortable than standing outside. Vada considers for a moment before agreeing, "Sure, why not? It's a bit chilly out here." You both settle into the car, leaning back in the back leather seats.
Silence falls between you as you take in the peacefulness of the moment.
You look over at Vada, a soft smile playing on your lips. Vada turns her head to you before sitting up in her seat, leaning forward slightly. Her eyes fall to your lips, staring at them intently.
Without thinking, she leans in closer, capturing your lips with a gentle yet passionate kiss. The warmth of her touch sends a shiver down your spine, and you find yourself lost in the moment, forgetting about the chilly weather outside.
The kiss begins to deepen as Vada's hands slide up to cup your face, pulling you even closer. You find yourself melting against her lips, savoring the taste of her soft, sweet breath.
You pull away, breathless and hot, your heart racing as you lock eyes with Vada. "Can I turn on the A/C?" You mutter to the freckled-faced girl. Vada chuckles but nods regardless.
You put the key in the ignition and start the car, the engine purring to life. The cool air from the A/C quickly fills the car, providing a refreshing contrast to the heated moment that just transpired.
You bring Vada into another kiss, more passionate and urgent than before. The intensity between you both grows as you explore each other's mouths, losing yourselves in the heat of the moment. Your hand is tangled in Vada's hair, pulling her closer to you if that were possible.
"Y/N's still doing that bet with Vada?" You recognize that voice, it was Austin. You pull away from Vada, your eyes falling on Jordan's car screen, confirming he was on the phone with Austin. It must've connected to the car automatically, allowing Austin's voice to fill the car.
You quickly release Vada and feel a rush of embarrassment wash over you. You exchange a nervous glance with Vada, hoping Austin doesn't go in detail about the bet you've been participating in.
"It's silly, really. This all started because she didn't wanna do her math homework? So she decided to start dating baby Adam Sandler and introduce her to her parents? That's pretty fucked up. If I were Vada, I'd be pissed."
You close your eyes, taking a deep breath to steady your racing heart. The weight of Austin's words hangs heavy in the air. You hope that Vada understands that it was all just a silly game and that she won't hold it against you.
"Is he serious? A bet? Am I a bet to you?" You feel a knot forming in your stomach as Vada's voice trembles with hurt and disbelief. The realization hits you like a ton of bricks, and you quickly shake your head, desperately trying to find the right words to explain yourself.
"Am I a fucking bet to you?" Vada's voice cracks with anger, and tears well up in her eyes. The pain in her words cuts deep, leaving you speechless and filled with regret. You reach out to touch her arm, hoping to convey your sincerity and remorse, but the damage may already be done.
Vada pushes away your arm, opening the car door and slamming it shut behind her. Her actions speak louder than words, and you watch helplessly as she walks away, leaving you to grapple with the consequences of your thoughtless words.
Jordan rushes to the driver's side of the door, out of breath. "Did she hear?" Jordan asks, panting as he rests his hand on the car door. The worry in his eyes mirrors your own as you shake your head, uncertain of how to fix the mess you've made. "She did."
-
It's been two days, and you've called Vada's phone and sent multiple texts, but there's been no response. The silence only amplifies your guilt and regret as you desperately hope for a chance to apologize and make things right.
You decide to call her house phone, surprised when someone answers. "Mrs. Cavell?" You ask on the phone, hoping to speak with Vada's mother. "It's Amelia, asshole. Don't call again."
You're bewildered by the harsh response from Amelia. You never expected her to be so angry and hostile toward you. "Amelia, please. Just put your sister on the phone."
You plead, hoping to reason with Amelia and convince her to let you speak with Vada. However, Amelia's voice remains firm and cold as she refuses your request, leaving you feeling even more desperate and regretful.
"If I buy you $100 worth of slime supplies, will you let me talk to Vada?" you offer, trying to find a compromise. But Amelia's response is immediate and resolute, "No amount of slime supplies will change my mind. Don't contact us again."
"Fine! $200!" you exclaim, desperation creeping into your voice. Amelia stays silent for a moment, finally giving in. "Our parents are out. If you come over, you have ten minutes to speak to her." Relief washes over you as Amelia finally agrees to let you talk to Vada, even if it means spending more money.
With a renewed sense of urgency, you quickly make plans to rush over to their house within the given time frame, hoping that this opportunity will help mend the strained relationship between you and Vada.
You burst through Vada's room, and she jumps up in surprise, her eyes widening as she takes in your unexpected presence. "I'm on limited time by your sister, so I have to make this quick."
You take a deep breath, walking closer to Vada. "I made that bet before I met you, Vada. And spending time with you made me realize that winning that bet was not what was important anymore. What matters to me now is repairing our relationship and showing you how much you mean to me."
Vada's expression softens as she listens, her guard slowly starting to come down. "I never wanted to hurt you, Vada. I want us to start fresh and build something real together."
"What was it for anyway? I mean, what did you end up losing?" Vada asks, her curiosity piqued. You take another step closer before continuing. "I lost a lot of things, Vada. I lost your trust, our connection, and the chance to truly be there for you. But what I gained was the realization that you are the most important person in my life and the one girl that my parents truly approve of."
Vada stands up, playing with the bottom of her shirt. She looks down for a moment, deep in thought, before finally meeting your gaze. "Don't make me sing again." You jokingly mutter, looking down at the shorter girl.
Vada's eyes widen, and a small smile tugs at the corners of her lips. "No, not this time," she says playfully. "But I do expect you to make it up to me in some other way."
You smile, leaning down and lifting Vada's chin with your finger. Vada glances at your lips before looking back up into your eyes. You smirk before closing the distance between you, capturing her lips in a gentle kiss.
Your worries fade away, drowning in the sound of your heart pounding against your ribcage. Vada's arms wrap around your neck, pulling you closer, and you can't help but let out a content sigh against her lips.
As you pull away, Vada's cheeks flush with a rosy hue, and she bites her lip, opening her mouth to speak but is interrupted. "Ten minutes is up. Where's my $200?" Amelia says from Vada's door, holding out her hand expectantly.
Vada pulls away from you, confused. "What is she talking about?" You clear your throat. "I might've...um...made a deal with Amelia so she could let me talk to you."
Vada's eyes widen in surprise as she processes your words. "You paid her to see me?" she asks, laughing. You smile sheepishly, "Well, I wanted to make sure I had a chance to talk to you without any interruptions. It was worth every penny."
Vada's laughter fills the room as she playfully nudges your shoulder, "You're ridiculous, but I'm glad you did."

can you do kissing or general dating headcannons for Harold and Noah separately?
Tysm for your time :)
◟✶◝ harold & noah dating + kissing headcanons (separate)
◟a/n◝ hooray my first total drama request... sorry that harolds seems shorter than noahs I didn't really know what to write for him... I still hope u enjoy!!
• Harold is so sweet as a boyfriend, a bit cringe to the point you wanna pick him up and throw him into a lake, buy very sweet nonetheless...
• he tries his best to impress you with his awesome skills which include either rapping or some type of martial arts... but you can clearly see how much effort he puts into his hobbies and how confident he looks while doing it so you half-fake swoon for him when he sees you he'll have the biggest smile on his nerdy face
• as for your first kiss with him it was awkward to say the least. you both were hanging out probably either watching some kind of show or playing video games when you two got gradually closer to eachother until both of you were reallyyy close. you don't notice until after awhile and that's when it gets awkward. Harold notices it too and of course says something a bit corny like "I can stare into your eyes all day" or something. after he says that you giggle and proceed to grab his cheeks and kiss him all over his face turning him red and flustered in the process
• honestly lives for that type of attention I mean pretty much everyone else he's met in his life have been jerks to him so let him bathe in your love for a bit
• like Harold, Noah is also a sweet boyfriend just alot less cringe and a bit more mean... his love language is practically just teasing you and being sarcastic alot. of course he never fully means his mean and snarky remarks, don't worry its all out of love!
• though we know that he can get down bad for someone and that probably happened when he first started liking you. if you both were in total drama he'd probably help you with challenges or fall behind to stay with you whether you two are on the same team or not.
• his kisses are probably a bit more frequent than Harold's but still very few since he prefers practically anything else then face sucking. when you two had your first kiss it was during a little "argument", which was basically just back and forth teasing, and also like Harold's was awkward for a bit. it started off with you two throwing around insults and slowly moving closer until Noah gets the most genius idea he's had in a while. he spits out a "oohhh you wanna kiss me so bad" and still full of adrenaline from the remarks he's previously made you quickly respond with a "yeah. so what?". let's just say that shut the both of you up really fast.
• after a few moments of silence you whisper a quiet "... wanna do it" in which he responds with a awkward nod which he might regret later. when you too actually kiss its stiff but still good and could probably satisfy him for about a year. (afterwards you two kinda ran off out of embarrassment and he immediately got home and started giggling and screaming into his pillow)
• overall still a sweet boyfriend but beware he will get on ur nerves, it's apart of the Noah package.

Heyyy
Omg I love your writing so much 💖💖
I was wondering if u could do one with kenji where your warners twin and you're kinda funny and chill and basically warner and kenji r arguing or smthng and he comes and complains to u.
Sorry if its too specific it just came to me lol
Do I wanna know?
✧ 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: kenji kishimoto x reader
✧ 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: kenji kishimoto, mentioned aaron warner
✧ 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: Kenji fully believes you’re the better twin
✧ 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: none
✧ 𝐚/𝐧: !! despite being aaron’s twin, there’s no physical description of the reader, no specification for whether you’re identical to him or not !! thank you for the request 💓
“And then— and then! He tells me that he doesn’t even like me as a human so why would he love if me I was a worm,” he looks at you with an offended expression, “Can you believe that?!”
“No,” you say sarcastically with an amused smile, “Totally out of character for my brother.”
Kenji huffs and drops himself on your bed, “He’s terrible, y/n, I can’t believe you grew up with him.”
You snort, Kenji and your brothers relationship was…you don’t even know how to explain it. They weren’t exactly on bad terms but they did get in each others nerves—the complete opposite to your relationship with Kenji.
You always liked Kenji even when he was a soldier, and he liked you two. You didn’t have any power at Sector 45 so Kenji naturally separated you from your brother, at the time. But as time went on, Aaron grew on Kenji and your almost certain Kenji has also grown on your brother.
“He really isn’t that bad, Kenji,” you try not to laugh when he groans at your response.
“Yeah, well compared to you, he’s nothing like the saint you are.”
“Oh, woah,” you draw out your words sarcastically, “A saint.”
“Yes!” He exclaims, “If I haven’t made it obvious already, you’re the better twin.”
You laugh. It’s not a surprise that Kenji still preferred you over your brother, considering that he was your friend first, but Kenji’ dramatics never failed to entertain you. “I mean you did say he was the worst, didn’t take a lot to put two and two together and figure you liked me more.”
“See? I’d argue you’re also the smarter twin too.”
Your mouth drops in fake surprise, “Really?”
“Uh huh, I mean you love me so that automatically makes you smarter,” he says as he pushes himself up with his left arm.
You laugh again, “So is that all my brother did?”
“Y—,” he widens his eyes as if he remembered something a fully pushes himself up on your bed, “No actually. He said the only reason he tolerates—tolerates!— me is because we’re dating.”
You nod your head, it wasn’t really a lie if you were being honest. It was funny to you though.
You scoot closer to him putting on your best puppy dog eyes and look at him through your lashes—you try not to laugh when he visibly stiffens, “Yes….?”
You grab one of Kenji’ hands and put it in your lap. You start to play with his fingers, once you reach his middle you start talking, “Are you upset by that?”
“Um…all jokes aside just a little?”
You hum. “So are you saying that you’d rather be on his good side than mine?”
Kenji rearranges himself in your bed so he’s properly facing you and grabs your hands, completely falling for your little trick, “No! No, no, I was mainly joking—“
“Are you sure?” You take one of your hands from his grasp, “You seem awfully affected by it.”
“Well—of course. He’s most likely going to be my brother in law, I of course care about his opinion. But his—I don’t know what to call it—approval? I’d rather have yours over his any day.”
You remain quiet for a few moments dragging out the silence. Then you start to laugh, and Kenji starts to get confused.
“Did I say something funny?”
“No, but it’s just a little funny that you thought I was actually sad you were talking about my brother so much,” you say in between laughs, “I’m glad you care so much about his opinion.”
“Well—“
“And brother in law?”
Kenji opens his mouth but nothing comes out. He looks as if he got caught stealing something.
“Uh,” he starts to say, “Sorry if I—“
You shake your head and grab onto the collar of his shirt, you pull forward and make sure that your lips connected with his to shut him up.
Kenji relaxes into the kiss almost immediately, and you only pull away when his hands start to fiddle with the hem of your shirt, “Kenji,” you say softly and also as quiet as a whisper, “I’m not upset. I’m actually happy you’ve though of, you know, with me.”
For what felt like the longest time since, Kenji smiled and said, “How could I not with you?”

[idea] the spiteful fake dating au
inspo from this post [click here]
obligatory tag (im an attention whore and therefore i summon thee): @lithi @hwang-lucas
tl;dr if you dont wanna click on the link:
"i know we could half-ass it, but i would never fake mistreat my fake husband, how dare you" which reads like athy to me
and
"my baby cousins are probably screwed when it comes to their chances of turning out normal, but I’d like them to have one healthy example in their life" which can pass as a caring uncle lucas
.
the setting and my Vision:
modern au, lucathy are probably mid-20s or early 30s im thinking??? maybe kinda like the ons/fwb au where athy's like. 28 and lucas is gonna be 30
so as the lines i've quoted state, lucas is gonna be a caring uncle whose brothers have shit show marriages. a train wreck and not gonna be healthy at all (oldest has a falling apart 15 year marriage and kids were their solution of slapping tape on the problems; youngest has a hateful wife and is a doormat probably; i need a reminder on whether or not lucas is the youngest but im gonna treat him as the middle bro atm cause its the Vibes).
and yeah, he wants Nothing^tm to do with his family, but his nieces and nephews deserve to see a healthy relationship to have as an example and damn does he hate his in-laws more than his actual family
so he asks athy to be his fake wife
(i feel like it'd be funny if they signed a marriage certificate just in case lucas deals with paranoid family (when really he's just paranoid and athy's an overthinker who HELPED him get paranoid at the thought), then they got drunk, and accidentally submitted the paperwork and just straight up forgot
"wdym you guys ACTUALLY filed the paperwork?????????" -- helena probs
"oh shit does that mean we got married fr???" -- athy, before the panic settles in
it becomes an inside joke among their friends after the panic of it wears off because now they're pretty much committed to the bit for the sake of lucas' nieces and nephews so now there are jokes about "where's your wife/husband" and "" etc etc)
athy's gonna constantly overthink it (and desperately trying to avoid ever mentioning it to her parents because her mom would be so disappointed that there wasnt a wedding and claude might kill lucas if he makes athy cry)
plus she's 100% gonna be ready to fite lucas's shitty relatives if they say something bad about him
side note: diana 100% thinks that lucas is athy's long-time bf so she's always joking with claude that lucas is finally gonna drop down on one knee any day now and claude, being a super big grump, is just "at least its not that alpheus kid"
little do they know that lucas became a legit in-law (although they still invite him for family dinners, and when its mentioned that athy's parents treat him as family, lucas's parents and grandparents take that as a CHALLENGE)
athy being petty by having a sickeningly sweet relationship and talking about how wonderful lucas is as a husband and partner because of how much she just straight up hates one of the sister in-laws
i'm self-indulgent, so i'm gonna have the classic "my sister in-law tried to sleep with my husband" stories
also idk if its just me but when it comes to fake dating aus (which i'm a SUCKER for) i think its a++++++++ when one of them casually goes "yknow if we were actually doing this for realsies, we'd probably be making out in a closet rn" and the other person sweating cause that sounds infinitely better than what they're doing rn
ALSO
the casual "oh yeah athy's crazy about that kinda shit" or "lucas would absolutely hate that lmao" and just FLEXING on everyone about how good of a partner they are to the other
and lucas, who originally suggested that they don't have to do any lovey-dovey stuff and that they can just be the same as always, ends up getting a fuming athy who more or less goes "my REPUTATION would be at stake if people found out that we broke up just because i wasn't being a loving and caring partner, so hell no!!!!!"
aksulifdfhbjdkshf i'm running on like,,,,,,, 5 hours of sleep and havent slept in like,,,,, 17 hours now
so i'm just gonna leave this unedited all-over-the-place mess here

Later That Night
You're in a familiar setting, sitting comfortably in the back of Shuji's car with soft music in the back, one arm wrapped around you while the other holds his cigarette. He went and took you to another scenic area near a public park, but there's no one else around, just the two of you here.
"The sky looks so pretty." You murmur blissfully, staring out of the window. Shuji lets out an airy, short chuckle, taking a quick drag. "You say that every time we're like this."
You raise a brow for a second, surprised that he had made such an observation. "I probably do. I really like the night sky." You hum with a little shrug. "Why?" He mumbles softly.
"Why? Mmm, I guess I just really love space. I love the stars, the moon; it reminds me of how vast the world is. There's so much more up there. If I could, I'd definitely go to space to see what it's like." You ramble in a dreamy tone, eyes glued to the radiant stars and half moon up in the sky.
"That seems like fun. I'd wanna see Jupiter." He says.
"Because of the storms, right?! I know!" You beam, getting randomly excited.
"But you know what's crazy? There's still so much about earth we don't even know. Like we barely know anything about the ocean." He says with a curious tone.
"Oh my gosh, facts. The abyss fish are kinda scary too!" You nod.
"Abyss fish?" He chuckles with a raised brow.
"Yeah, that's what I call 'em. Who really takes the time to figure out all their real names?" You giggle.
"Oh, I thought you meant like a specific fish called the abyss fish." He laughs.
The two of you laugh together for a little while before falling into another moment of tranquil silence.
"You know, I'm actually glad I left that event with you." You sigh, breaking the silence.
"Really?" He asks in a knowing tone.
"Mhm." You nod. "Even though you stress me out, I...really do like being around you." You admit, tone soft and just a little bit shy. The corner of Shuji's lips tilt upwards at your words.
"Well look at you finally being honest." He chuckles, leaning over for a kiss that makes your heart flutter in your chest. His tongue skillfully works its way past your lips, his free hand pulling you closer. You both pull away just a little after a moment, two small smiles on each of your faces.
"Could I...be more honest then?" You ask hesitantly, your heart beating wildly in your chest.
"Definitely be more honest, angel." He nods with a lustful glint in his eyes. You pull your dress up as far as it could go, then carefully sit yourself down onto his lap, straddling him. Shuji's hand rests low on your hip, the other putting out his cigarette against the little ash tray to the right of him.
"I want you; and I don't wanna wait till we get to your place." You confess softly, looking him right in the eyes.
"I'm all yours, pretty girl." He answers, his hand reaching towards the spaghetti straps tied into a bow at the back of your neck. His words give you all kinds of butterflies throughout your stomach. If only he really was yours, then the looming weight of knowing this thing between you two would eventually end would be long gone.
Your lips meet his as he pulls the string of your halter, letting down the entire top half of your dress. A soft moan slips past your lips, vibrating against his as your own hands get to work, impatiently reaching for the buttons of his top.
The Next Day
You had received a surprising text from your mom early this afternoon, wanting to talk to you face to face for once after her 3pm meeting. You already knew deep down what this was about. It was time for her "review" of how you did during the event last night. Honestly you've been shitting bricks in the past few hours before you'd have to go and meet her, praying to God she didn't find out you snuck off with Shuji.
But unfortunately, that was exactly what she wanted to talk about...
"There was a toast held at the end of the event, but I didn't see you with Ken. Now that I think about it, I barely saw you with Ken at all last night. Then at one point you were just nowhere to be found altogether."
Your heart sinks to the pit of your stomach. She knows...
"Remember, I had sent a text saying I got a migraine?" You ask shakily, cursing at yourself for the way you looked so nervous...so obvious. Her expression stays stony, she didn't believe you for a second.
"Is that why you were running like crazy out of the back of the mansion, and with some boy on top of that?" She questions knowingly, folding her hands over her dark wood desk.
You could feel the color leave your face as her words ring and echo throughout your mind. "Ma, he's just a friend." You assure. How did she even see you guys leave together?!
"I bet he is, Y/N." The way she says your name makes you flinch. There was not an ounce of affection in her tone. "Have you been sleeping with him?" She interrogates, her eyes on fire with anger.
Every question she asks she obviously already knows the answer to, so what's the point in even trying to lie? If you say no you'll just piss her off even more. At this point your bags might as well already be packed and waiting outside of your dorm with the suite key resting right on top.
"I-I'm sorry..." You murmur, your eyes already starting to blur with tears. Your face feels so hot, and your heart is pounding against your chest. Your mom let's out a dry chuckle, shaking her head as she looks down at her hands.
"I can't even look at you right now. Have you lost your mind?!" She seethes, still shaking her head in disappointment. Your heart clenches in your chest at her harsh words. You wanted to argue, maybe yell and tell her off, but you couldn't. The embarrassment of being caught, and by your mother of all people, is eating you alive.
"Help me understand something, are you here to dance or are you here to just fool around and sleep with whoever you feel like?" She asks bitterly, finally looking up at you. Now that one cut deep. Your brows couldn't help but furrow slightly in offense. What's she trying to say, you're not putting in any work and just running around campus whoring it up?!
"I'm here to dance." You respond, your voice shaking with too many high intensity emotions swirling around at a time. "That's not what it seemed like last night-
"Ma, you aren't even ever around me to see how much work I do." You cut in, trying to keep your tone as respectful as possible, "I-..I don't wanna be with Ken." You finally admit. A single rapid tear falls down your cheek as you look up at your mom with pleading eyes. "I don't care about him! I can still do great in school without having to be with him-
"We've already been through why the two of you need to stay together!" She yells over you. You jump at her tone, eyes going wide. She's never yelled at you like this before, not ever.
"You are supposed to be perfect, do you hear me?! I told you what would happen if I caught you fooling around-
"Ma!"
"No, you're done, Y/N! You're not gonna waste my time and money messing around all through college-
"But I'm not! I haven't even failed a single class!" You throw your hands up exasperatedly.
"But you missed one! And I'm pretty sure it wasn't because of a "migraine"." She chides. How did she even know that...?
"I-..missing one class and failing a class isn't the same thing! You literally said last night I'm one of the top dancers at this school! Ma, you really thought in the whole four years of me being here that I wouldn't eventually meet someone I actually like over Ken?! I can't help how I feel about someone!" You rant through frustrated tears, not even registering the fact that you went and verbally acknowledged that you have genuine feelings for Shuji. "I just don't understand why I have to be with Ken specifically in order to be perfect or successful! I can do this without him! He's the one falling apart! Why isn't he here?!"
"Ken isn't the one causing problems! Ken was exactly where he was supposed to be last night, and Ken doesn't complain about why he needs to be with you!" She argues.
You let out a puff of frustrated air, wiping your tears with the backs of your hands. What the hell does it matter if I wasn't at the last few moments of the donor event?! You're pretty sure Mr. Fujioka is not having a heart attack and freaking out over the fact that one person happened to not be there for the toast. Ken is so lucky you aren't the throw folks under the bus type, because if you wanted to you could air him out right to both of your parents. You're over here taking the full heat when he's not even in the clear himself. He should be standing here right next to you.
"I'm telling you Y/N, if I catch you with that boy or any other boy that isn't Ken again, you're packing your bags, do you understand?" She threatens, her tone low and as serious as it gets. You look to the side angrily, opting for a simple head nod and short "Yes" before making your way out of her office.
You'd wandered off around campus, finding a secluded spot in the dance department staircase near the girls locker room way in the back hallway, crying to yourself pitifully with your head resting on your knees. You put your phone on 'do not disturb', not wanting to be bothered by anyone's text or calls or social media notifications.
Almost a bit over thirty minutes had gone by with you sitting there sulking on the steps, until the sensation of someone patting your right shoulder startled you. You jump, letting out a mix between a yelp and a deep gasp as you look up.
A familiar face is sitting on the stairs next to you, but there's no name you could begin to even think of to attach to it. You look him over with a scrutinizing gaze, eyes trailing down from his medium length hair, black framed glasses, and those dirty converse sneakers.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. You seemed down so I figured I'd come and comfort you." The guy shrugs with a small smile. Your heart instantly sinks to your feet. This was that same exact guy from the water fountain a hot minute ago! The uneasy feeling you'd felt from back then was back with full force, sitting on your shoulders like weights.
"Uhhh, thanks. I-I was kinda hoping I could actually be left alone for a while though..." You answer cautiously yet too emotionally exhausted to really shield the annoyance in your tone. "Oh, I understand. But, I also wanted to tell you that you had left your water bottle in the hallway the last time I saw you; so I thought I'd hand it back to you." He chuckles awkwardly, revealing your bright pink water bottle from behind him.
Wait, what?
The cogs immediately start turning in your head. You were a thousand percent sure you didn't leave your water bottle, and in the hallway of all places?! You have a few other water bottles in different colors, so sometimes it can be a little hard to keep up with which one you have at a time...but never have you ever left an item just sitting in a hallway.
"Oh, thank you. I...guess I didn't even realize I'd lost it." You answer apprehensively with an awkward chuckle, slowly taking the bottle from him as you wipe some of the left over tears off your cheeks.
"No problem! I filled it up with water and everything; good as new." He beams, gesturing towards the bottle. It was indeed filled all the way to the brim, ice cold, just as you like it...
"I see." You say softly, lifting the rubber straw and taking a few big sips just to cool off from the argument you had earlier. "Uuum, to be honest I feel bad 'cause I can't really remember what your name was." You give him an apologetic smile.
"Fumihiro Miyagawa. My name's kind of easy to forget, huh?" He jokes awkwardly.
"No no, I just-..I can just be forgetful sometimes; I'm sorry." You stammer, trying not to offend him any further.
"It's alright, I understand." He shrugs, adjusting his glasses. Then the two of you fall into a deep silence, making your skin crawl.
"Uhh, well do you have any classes today?" You ask, feeling more uncomfortable by the silence than when he speaks.
"No, I'm free all day today. That's why I was able to come find you." He replies pleasantly. The words "come find you" didn't sit well for some reason. You weren't in a very conspicuous spot, as this staircase just leads up to an equipment room near the girls locker room. How'd he even think to come search over here?
Then there's the night you ran into this guy in the first place. He was by the girls locker room that time too. It's not like it would make sense, as the mens' locker room is on the whole opposite side of the hallway, down by the entrance of the dance department building. It was separated for the purpose of keeping everyone safe.
Safe....yeah that's the word. You don't feel safe around him.
"Oh ok." You nod slowly, "Are you also a dance major?"
"Me?! No no, I'm the epitome of ungraceful; nothing like you." He chuckles, giving you a sharp chill that went down your spine. You chuckle a little in response, though it came out slightly forced and extremely stiff. That last part didn't really sit right, nor was it flattering.
Nothing like me...
What does he mean nothing like you?
Wait wait, let's not jump to conclusions...
"Well, I should probably get going." You state before standing up and taking another few sips from your water bottle, "Thanks again for bringing back my bottle, uh, Miyagawa." You smile politely with a short wave goodbye, not even bothering to wait for his response as you make your way out of the now creepy staircase.
You head out of the dance department building and decide to just take a little mind-calming walk around campus before heading back to your dorm suite. It was ironically a very sunny, clear skied day, the complete opposite of how you were feeling.
"Maybe I could see what Kei's doing..." You whisper to yourself. It's been a good while since the last time you got to talk to Keisuke, and it wasn't for the best of reasons. It would be good to have some time with a trusted friend. You whip out your phone, sending him a quick "Imu🥺 let's hang" text.
Best Friend #1👩🏾🤝👨🏻 I was literally just thinkin bout u kid!!! I'm hangin by the lil fountain statue thingy near the gym wit some friends Come thru
Y/N Yaaaay🥹 I'm omw 🏃🏾♀️
You smile to yourself, placing your phone back in your pocket as you head over to the fountain by the gym. It's about eight minutes away from the dance department where you'd just come from, so it's not really a hike.
You take another sip of water from your bottle, rubbing your left eye with your other hand. "What the-..." You trail off, brows furrowing in heavy confusion.
What the hell was up with your vision? You slow your walking to a stop in the middle of the pavement, trying to rub your eyes without making them hurt from the pressure. After a bit of rubbing you just shake it off, assuming maybe it was just an oncoming headache or something and continue on to meet up with Keisuke.
It was the three of them hanging by the fountain, Keisuke, Hanma, and Kazutora. Keisuke was the second to spot you stumbling around a few feet away. Hanma had moved so fast Kei didn't even realize what the hell was his problem until he noticed you, and Kazutora was completely lost as he's the only one who doesn't know you.
"Hey. What the hell is goin' on with you?!" Shuji asks, more to himself than to you as you nearly collapse to the ground. Had he come even seconds later you would have fallen over right on the ground.
"Heeeey?" You mutter, brows furrowing, looking at him like you were trying to recognize who he was. Keisuke trails behind, finally coming up to you with his eyes filled with concern.
"What happened? Are you alright?!" He questions.
"I-I feel-...I feel like-..." You stutter, seemingly forgetting your sentence after the first two to three words every time you attempt to answer.
"Hey, is she ok? Did she faint?" Kazutora comes in last, looking you over.
There was a trail of your things leading to where you'd nearly collapsed, your phone a few feet away, and your water bottle sitting in the grass right next to the pavement.
"Hot. 'S hot..." You groan. It really was hot, like, excruciatingly hot. Then abruptly, you frown, weakly pushing yourself out of Shuji's arms. "Go 'way..." You mutter, barely able to keep yourself upright. "Whooooooaaaaa!" You outburst loudly, looking all around you with wide eyes. Everything looked particularly vibrant, but it was somehow kind of slowly spinning...or twisting? Maybe both. It was making you feel nauseous. Keisuke, Shuji, and Kazutora all exchange the same looks of realization.
"Should I call an ambulance?! Maybe we should get her to the hospital or something." Keisuke says worriedly. With a slurred "K bye" you attempt to walk off down the sidewalk, immediately toppling over.
"Hey hey hey! Hold on!" Shuji grabs you once again, this time picking you up in his arms to make sure you don't hurt yourself.
"Oooo! You-...you're so strong." You slur with a girly giggle, placing your hands over your cheeks with a wide smile.
"She's out of it." He shakes his head, looking at you with a frown.
"Let's take her to the hospital." Kazutora says, going and grabbing your phone and water bottle. Keisuke grabs his keys instantly, Shuji and Kazutora following close behind him as they head to the parking lot. "I feel sooooo nice." You hum blissfully, laying your head lazily against Shuji's chest.
"Shhh, don't talk." Shuji commands softly. The deep tone of his voice makes a sudden sensual chill go down your spine. "Mmmm, you're beautiful." You compliment, looking up at him with heavily lustful eyes. "I wanna have sex." You add flirtatiously with another giggle. Both Keisuke and Kazutora's mouths drop in astonishment, looking at you like you grew two more heads..
"What did you take?!" Shuji questions, looking down at you utterly bewildered. You stay quiet for a moment, then randomly...you black out, your entire body going limp in Shuji's arms.
You were out for a bit over two minutes before you jolt awake just as the guys made it to Keisuke's car. Soft, fearful whimpers escape your dry-feeling lips, looking around frantically as you didn't recognize where you were. "I-I'm scared! I'm scared!"
"I'm right here angel, I got you. We're gonna get you to the hospital, ok?" Shuji says softly, holding you close as he gets into the back. Kazutora stays up front with Keisuke.
"You think she might've gotten drugged?" Kazutora asks Kei in a hushed tone, looking over the water bottle you were carrying with a skeptical gaze. "Definitely. Nothing else makes sense." Keisuke answers instantly. He speeds out of the lot like a bat out of hell, using one hand on the steering wheel while the other searches up the fastest route to the nearest hospital on google maps.
You weren't conscious for too long, only a few short minutes of feeling nothing but pure anxiousness before you blacked out yet again.
"She keeps passing out." Shuji says worriedly, adjusting you to keep your head from falling back in a weird way. Then, practically giving him a heart attack, your body starts convulsing. His eyes go wide, nearly dropping you onto the seat of the car from the way your body's jerking so violently. "Y/N! Y/N!?" He calls out to you, but he honestly had zero clue what to do, too scared to do anything else in fear it might make things worse.
"Oh my god, she's havin' a seizure!" Kazutora gasps, looking back from the front passenger seat.
"Are you serious?! What the hell is going on?!" Keisuke facepalms.
"Hurry the fuck up, Baji!" Shuji shouts frantically.
"I'm going as fast as I can! We're gonna get pulled over if I go any faster!" 1 Hour Later
It was like a blur, everything that had happened. Just as Keisuke said, he was pulled over by the cops. He realized then it was stupid not to just call an ambulance, but thankfully, the police gave him an escort, letting him drive as fast as needed to get you to the hospital.
Once you all arrived they quickly took you back to the ER, leaving the three of them out in the waiting area to be questioned by the police. Kazutora, Shuji, and Keisuke alike all realized how bad of a look this probably was. Three guys with one girl who happens to be the only one drugged. Kazutora's questioning was the shortest, as he's just now meeting you therefore didn't have too much information on the matter. Next up was Keisuke.
"I'm her best friend. We go to the same school. The only reason I even found her like this was 'cause she had texted that she wanted to meet up and come hang with me." Keisuke explains calmly.
"So who are these guys?" The officer who's badge shows his name is Kimura asks.
"They're my friends. They were already with me when Y/N texted me. We were by our campus's water fountain outside."
"You ever want to be more than friends with her?" The officer questions bluntly.
"No, she's like family to me. She has a boyfriend already anyways." Kei shakes his head.
"And where's her boyfriend? That him?" Officer Kimura nods his head towards Shuji who happened to be carrying her inside the hospital.
"No no, her boyfriend's Ken Ryuguji. He also goes to our school, but he wasn't with her when she came to see me."
"Hm, alright. That's enough for now." Kimura nods.
Keisuke sighs exasperatedly, going back to his seat in the waiting room as the officer calls up Shuji next. With a tired huff, Shuji makes his way over to the officer standing by the hallway that the nurses had previously taken you down on a stretcher.
"I'm just gonna ask a few questions, alright?" Officer Kimura begins. "Are you close with the victim?"
Something about the officer calling you a victim made Shuji's heart sink to his feet. "...Kind of." He says wearily.
"I'll need something more specific than kind of. What's kind of?" Officer Kimura presses.
"We're close." He answers shortly.
"Friends?" The officer raises a brow.
"Yeah." Shuji sighs. He genuinely wasn't sure how to answer that question yet just went with friends as to keep things simple.
"Has there ever been a point you were more than friends? Ever dated before or thought about it?"
Shuji's jaw clenches in annoyance, already knowing where the officer was going with those questions.
"We're just friends." He clarifies again, his tone coming across a bit more sharp than he intended.
"Alright. Have you noticed anyone suspicious around her?" He asks, changing topics.
Shuji thinks for a second, but can't really think of any particular person. Usually when you're with him it's literally just the two of you, so there's never really a moment where other people are around.
"No." He answers, then pauses, brows furrowing in thought. "Wait..."
I'm at the water fountain fillin' up my bottle and all of a sudden this random ass, quiet ass guy just appeared.
It was just the weirdest thing ever, and the way he wasn't trynna let go of my hand...
"No wait. I-...she once told me about some guy that asked her on a date. She said she was really uncomfortable 'cause he wasn't letting go of her hand or something. But, that was weeks ago now." Shuji explains.
"Did she say anything else about him? His appearance? Where she met him?" Officer Kimura asks.
Shit...he couldn't remember all those tiny details. But for you, he'd do anything to remember every last bit.
"I think she said a water fountain was where he came up to her. She was about to go to dance practice, so she was in the dance department."
"Alright, that's good enough for now. Your friend brought the water bottle she had with her to the hospital. We have the nurses taking a sample and testing for any drugs in the water bottle, but it can be assumed that it was highly likely a date rape drug. We can't really investigate any further without the victim's consent though." Kimura informs.
Date rape drug....
Those three words from the officer's mouth rings loudly like alarm bells in Shuji's mind. "Wait, what?"
"Date rape drugs are popular as they have no scent or color, and most can easily dissolve into drinks going almost completely undetected." He adds. Shuji's heart sinks to his chest. All he can manage is a short head nod in response, feeling too sick to his stomach to give any sort of verbal reply.
"Depending on what kind of drug is in her system, it may take a while before any of you can see her. I'd stock up on snacks to hold you guys off if you're gonna stay till she wakes up." Officer Kimura suggests, giving Shuji an apologetic look and pat on the shoulder before heading over to his colleagues standing near the front desk of the hospital.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was so bright when your eyes finally fluttered open. Off white colored walls, and two women you couldn't recognize for the life of you. Once the brightness settled down a bit you could finally take in what was going on, and where you were.
"Y/N? Hi, you've been unconscious for some time. My name is Dr. Chen." A short haired brunette woman states with a soft smile, leaning over you. She's a nurse, you finally conclude, and the second woman was as well. The second nurse seems to be checking out your vitals on the annoying beeping machine. The beeps came around in fairly long spaced intervals, worrying you a little.
"W-what happened?" You ask wearily. Oof, you felt so nauseous.
"Unfortunately, we found a substantial amount of GHB in your system." She explains with an apologetic tone.
"What?!" Your heart sinks in your chest. You had zero clue what GHB meant, but clearly it didn't sound good. "What is that?"
"Gamma hydroxybutyrate, it's an illegal drug. It was mixed into your water bottle you were carrying with you today." Dr. Chen clarifies.
Your brows furrow in deep confusion, then a sudden heavy feeling of anxiousness washes over you as you realize you don't know what she's talking about.
"W-what water bottle? I don't-...I've never taken drugs. I don't have anything illegal-
"Don't worry, you're not in any trouble with the police. We can begin a more thorough investigation with your con-
"Investigation?! W-What's going on?!" You ramble fearfully, your monitor to the right of you showing your heart rate starting to spike. Immediately your chest rises and falls rapidly, starting to hyperventilate as your memories seem damn near void. You couldn't remember anything from today, not even the shortest glimpse.
"Please, try to stay calm. It's normal not to remember anything, as that's one of the major effects of this drug. We're going to take this one step at a time." Dr. Chen assures in a calming tone.
Your vision blurs as involuntary hot tears start streaming down your face.
"Are you feeling any pain anywhere? Any pain around your lower body?"
It didn't go unnoticed by you the way she specifically inquired about your lower body being in pain. "N-no. I don't think I really feel anything right now." You answer shakily, attempting to stay calm but the fact that you were on some kind of drug and could barely feel your body just made everything ten times worse.
"Do your muscles feel tired? Relaxed? It's normal if your feeling fatigued."
Your brows furrow again, unable to keep up with her words even though it wasn't even much that she said. All of this was just too overwhelming.
"You're alright. Take as much time as you need to respond." She soothes. "For now there's no pain, yes?"
"Mhm." You nod as a few tears roll down your cheeks.
"Ok good. You have three friends here that have been waiting for you to wake up. Do you feel ready to see them?" Dr. Chen asks.
"Friends?"
"Yes, they're the ones that brought you here. Would you feel comfortable with seeing maybe just one at a time?" She suggests.
You nod hesitantly, not sure at all who these three friends are.
"Ok." She nods, then heads out of the room with the other nurse trailing behind her with a clipboard. A few minutes go by of silence, before finally someone walks in.
"Hey kid. You alright?"
You gasp, the tears you had went and wiped away restarting all over again. "Kei!" You sob, breaking down as he comes over and gives you an affectionate hug. It hurt you that you could barely manage to just raise your arms a little to wrap around him, still too drugged up to function.
"I'm scared..." You murmur weakly into his royal blue shirt.
"I know, me too, but you're gonna be alright." He comforts, resting his head on top of yours.
"I don't remember anything. I don't know what happened to me."
"You were drugged by someone. They put something in your water bottle you had with you; things got pretty bad for a second." He explains a bit vaguely, pulling away from the hug to go and sit on your little hospital bed. Keisuke didn't really want to go into too much detail about what happened to you just in case it might scare you even more.
"All I know is, you were literally on your way to come meet up with me by the fountain near the gym on campus and like...you just collapsed. Or well Hanma caught you but, had he not seen it, you would've went straight down." He adds softly.
"Ha-hanma?"
"Yeah, he's here too. I didn't know you knew him." Kei states with his brows furrowed. "He was really freakin' out about you, I was...shocked. I've never seen him like that."
"Is Ken here too?" You ask wearily. If Ken's here and sees Shuji it'll definitely be a problem, and you absolutely did not have the energy to deal with that situation.
"Uh no actually, it's just me, Hanma, and my friend Kazutora. You don't know him yet though."
"Thank God..." You sigh, a wave of relief washing over you at that. "How long have I been here? What day is it?"
"It hasn't been that long, like a few hours now. It's still Tuesday." He assures.
"Oh, Tuesday..." You nod slowly. It bothered you that you couldn't even remember at least what day it is. Would any memories of today even come back once the drug has fully left your system? You doubted it.
"Do you wanna see Hanma now? I can go get 'em?" Kei offers. "Cause...he really wants to see you." He adds, sounding shocked by his own words.
Before you could give a response, Dr. Chen walks back in, coming over to you on the other side of the hospital bed by the vitals monitor.
"I'm sorry, but could you give us one second? You can come back in or have another friend come in after, but I have a few personal questions for Y/N." Dr. Chen says politely.
"Yeah, yeah for sure. I'll be back, alright?" Kei says softly, giving you a friendly pat on your arm before heading out of the room. You frown watching him leave, heartbeat pounding just a bit harder as the anxiousness you were previously feeling starts to settle back in.
"GHB is a very common drug known as a date rape drug. We believe you may have been sexually assaulted."
Your blood runs cold all through your system, eyes going wide in terror. You we too frozen to even speak, it was like your mind was refusing to process and accept that. The fact that you couldn't even remember anything made it worse. You couldn't tell if this really happened or not, and if no memories come back, you really may never know.
"I'm truly very sorry about this." She states somberly with a heavy sigh. "So, Y/N, there's a few steps we could take depending on what you wanna do. The first option is a forensic exam where we can test for any STI's, pregnancy, sexual assault evidence, injuries, and things like that that can help you. For example, the water bottle your friend brought to the police is how we found where the drug came from. That's a great piece of evidence. We can also, with your consent, collect clothing items, as well as do some bodily tests for any other evidence should you choose to go forward with a police investigation." She explains slowly, her tone professional yet kind.
"The next option is that we can keep everything strictly confidential. No information will be released to the police if that's what you choose is the way you want to go. The only information they have about this is what they found out from your friends after they were questioned. They were pulled over while taking you here, so naturally the police wanted to ask them a few questions." She adds.
"But, if I don't tell the police anything, they won't figure out who did this, right?" You ask weakly.
"That's right, there'll be no investigation if you choose to keep this confidential." Dr. Chen nods.
"I'll-...I'll do the test then." You reply hesitantly.
"Ok, we'll get you started with that soon. You'll need to sign a few documents just giving your consent before we begin the process. In the meantime would you like for one of your friends to come back again? You can let them know what's going on if you feel comfortable." She suggests.
You simply nod in response, too busy trying to hold back the tears currently beginning to blur your vision.
"Alright." She gives you a small smile, then makes her way out of the room. As soon as she's gone you burst into light sobs, too weak to even wipe your own tears.
How did this happen....?
For a holiday (and forevermore) - now complete
chapters: 30/30
words: 94k
rating: M
summary: Eddie's sick of personal, intrusive questions about his love life whenever he visits his family, so he starts bringing Buck for the holidays as his (fake) boyfriend. He only wants to shut them up, and doesn't expect that the small crush he has on his best friend could actually turn into something more...
aka a fluffy fake-dating, rom-com-inspired fic (with only a splash of angst), with lots of family feels, oblivious and pining idiots in love, bed sharing, hand holding, denial of feelings
[read on Ao3]
___
(excerpt from chapter 2)
“Honestly, sometimes I wanna just bring some random guy home for the holidays and introduce him as my boyfriend just to spite them and shut them all up.” he adds without thinking, frustration still evident in his voice.
“I mean, we can do that.” Buck says, his tone teasing. Eddie snorts. “What? I could be your boyfriend.” he continues and Eddie feels his cheeks heat up. Shit.
“Yeah, right.” he chuckles.
“No, seriously, we could do that.” Buck’s voice sounds more earnest now, and Eddie looks at him with surprise. He can’t be serious, Eddie was joking, it was just a thought, a crazy idea from the spiteful and petty side of him.
“I wasn’t serious.”
___
(excerpt from chapter 6)
He feels his face and neck grow hot. Why the hell did Buck buy him a Valentine’s Day gift? “For my fake boyfriend.” he adds, smirking, as he finally steps inside the house.
“Oh.” Eddie’s kind of stunned. Obviously, it’s a joke. They’re pretending to date, so Buck figures it’s funny to buy him something. No big deal. Except, try telling this to Eddie’s heart that flutters in that certain way he doesn’t want to name… because fact of the matter is, Buck noticed what day it is, that it’s Valentine’s Day, a day of love, and his first thought was Eddie. But it’s a joke. Of course. He can’t read into this. “Thanks.” he chuckles nervously, closing the door and trying to get it together. It’s not weird, you can buy a friend a Valentine’s Day gift. Especially as an inside joke, because you’re fake boyfriends anyway. He takes a deep breath and follows Buck to the kitchen. He adds jokingly: “Sorry, got nothing for you. I had no idea what day it is.”
“Yeah, me too. Until I got to the store and saw all the Valentine’s Day-themed stuff.” Buck says, putting the beer in the fridge. “But kinda figures we’re spending it together, huh?” he looks over his shoulder to grin at Eddie. “Since we’re kinda dating.”
___
if you like fluff and romcoms, especially the movie "Holidate" (2020) which inspired this, and Eddie&Maddie friendship, and sibling dynamics (particularly big brother!Eddie), and uncle Buck (not only to Jee👀), and Buck being a ray of sunshine everyone falls in love with - you might like this one haha
Next to me(Emmett Cullen)
Chapter 16: 20 questions
Table of contents
Requested by: @bestsuspect005
~~~~~~~~(later that night)~~~~~~~~
“c-come on, you gotta know something?” Bella stuttered out from her bed. I sighed snapped my book closed and turned to her. I was setting at her desk helping her with a project, or I was supposed to. I'm actually doing most of it and being interrogated about the Cullens and now the pack.
“seriously I don't know” I said. “I just now started hanging out with Emmett” l stated. Bella looked at me confused. “What now?”
“I figured you and Emmett were dating” I shrugged sadly. I guess we kinda are but we hadn't put a label on it yet. The world wanted us to be together but we never talked about what we actually wanted.
“there's really no labe on it right now” I mumbled.
After a few debits with Bella she ended up falling asleep before she could finish a conversation with me. I sighed deciding to use the quiet to my advantage. It didn't want to move so I sat at Bella's desk with my blanket wrapped around me and worked on my Labtop as Elvis Presley softly played in my earbuds.
The window slowly opened and turned around as my heart pounded. I raised an eyebrow confused as Edward slipped in. He stopped dead in his traks and we both staired at each other for a bit.
“hi....” he said dragging out the word looking like a dear cought in the headlights.
“hi?” I repeated.
There was complet silence except for Bella's soft snoring. Edward stood there in silence fiddling with his thumbs. I smirked and tilted my head. “so... You come here often?”
He nervously chuckled and looked everywhere except me and Bella's sleeping body. I rolled my eyes with a smile as I closed my labtop.
“kinda creepy bro” I said as I left Bella's bedroom to go get some sleep.
The next morning Emmett came over before school. I cooked Bella and Owen's breakfast as he sat at the dinning room table flipping through a horror magazine I felt on the table a couple days ago. I heard a pair of feet hit the first two steps than obviously fake cough.
Owen came into the kitchen with his hand on his stomach. “sis, I don't feel good” he said planly. He didn't trying to fake groans of pain just stood there emotionless. Emmett looked at him from the table concerned.
“what's up?” I asked feeling his forehead. He shrugged and said. “I just don't feel good... Can I stay home?”
I looked at him with a questioning look. You could see the plea in his eyes. The worry as he stood before me. I cleared his throat and his fluffy hair fell over his eyes and he looked down.
“yeah, you can stay home” I mumbled hugging him. He went of stairs and I shared a concerned look with Emmett.
~~~~~~~~(.......)~~~~~~~~
“you wanna play 20 questions? I feel like we don't know much about each other expect our supernatural aspects” Emmett asked as he grabed a tree and spung around it.
We were out in the woods a couple of miles away from the school. We decided to ditch the rest of the school day plus a history field trip.
“okay, I'm an open book” I said as he grabed my hand to help me climb up a rock.
“okay...” he chuckled. “Who's your favorite singer or band? Edward Isn't the only one in the family who loves music”
I nodded as I sat down in the grass next to him. “staring off mild, huh?” he shrugged waiting for his awnser.
“Elvis presley... He's my favorite” I responded proudly trying not to go into one of my Elvis rants.
He gave me a big smile that showed his dimples. “I love Elvis... I went to the 68 comeback Special, ya know”
My eyes widened with amazement he told the story of him, Carlisle, and Damon when to see the special and how they had to keep Damon from eating Colonel Tom Parker. And aprently Rosalie dated Elvis for a bit, that was before he met Priscilla of course.
“I've never been more jealous of a group of vampires” Emmett laghed. “okay, next question”
“what's your favorite Elvis song?” he asked. I raised an eyebrow. “as much as I love talking about the King of Rock, your gonna waist question #19 on that?”
“as long as I'm learning about you and talking about you there's not waist” he responded with God's honest truth. His gold eyes held nothing but love and admiration.
“Can't help falling in love and Suspicious minds” I responded. He nodded like he was mentally taking notes.
“favorite movie?” he asked. “I'm guessing your a movie lover with you talking about film school and all”
“I love horror, but my favorite movie is either Once upon a time in Hollywood or The Shining”
Emmett nodded. “I love Quentin Tarantino's movies” I nodded. “me too, he kinda inspired the who movie direct career”
“if could go anywhere in the world where would you go?” Emmett asked.
“Memphis Tennessee” I awnsered. Emmett smirked like already knew why. “I bet you could take a wild guess why” I laughed.
“there's only one reason to go to Memphis Tennessee” Emmett laughed. “Graceland?” I nodded with a smile.
The rest of the questions would seem useless to anyone else but it was important to him. It seemed to matter that he knew my favorite book or what food I like or dislike. He acted like he was holding one to everything like it was valuable information.
“now last question” he said. I perked up waiting for it.
“will you be my Girlfriend?” he smiled softly. I looked at him shocked. I closed the gap between us and placed a loving kiss on his lips. “Yes”
He smiled and placed his hand on my cheek pulling me in for another kiss. I placed my hand on his Broad chest and gently pulled away. “my turn to ask the questions”
“okay” he asked like there was nothing that could phase him.
“what's your favorite book?” I asked.
Emmett shrugged and thought for a bit. “I don't read much but I guess I would go with The Great Gastby”
I smiled. “I love that book”
The questions remained innocent like he did with me. Like him I listened intently and held on to every word. I thought about asking but then again it might have been to personal. I only had one question left and the one I wanted to ask I was still debating on whether or not I should. Emmett could tell I was think and he tilted his head.
“what's up?”
“How long have you been a vampire Emmett?” I asked, resting my head on his shoulder. He stayed silent for a second. Thinking I over stepped I quickly raised my head in a panic. “you don't have to awnser... I'm sorry if I over stepped.”
He stopped my rambling with a gentle kiss. “calm down, it's okay” he pulled me back closer to him so my head to go back on his shoulder.
“Since 1935” he replied. I chuckled. “Wow you're old” he let out a laugh and playfully shoved me. I looked down with a more serious face. “H-how did you become one…you don't have to tell me”
“I was born in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. My family was big on hunting and me and my brothers were pretty good at it too.” Emmett sighed then looked at me. “I was stupid growing up, ran with the wrong crowed and got into gambling and drinking…it wasnt my gretest molments” he let out a scarcastic chuclke.
“One day I went on a hunt by myself for the first time… i found a bear and i wasn't quick enough to shoot it”
“The bear molled you, didn't it?” I asked softly and carefully. He looked down and laced his freezing cold fingers with mine. “Yep” he simply said.
“I was losing too much blood and was ready to die..I expected it but then Damon and Rose found me. The only way I can describe it was an Angel and Devil arguing over whether to save or ditch me.” he said as i pitchered the saniro play out in my head.
“At the time damon was really battling the urges to drink human blood that’s why he wanted to leave but in the end he help rose bring me to carlisle and changed me” I rested my head on his shoulder and wrapped my arms around his muscular one.
He lost a lot back then, But that was an understatement. I looked down and cleared my throat thinking of the outcomes if I opened up about my parents death. It probably took a lot for him to tell me about him so it was only far.
“I-I lost my parents about 7 months ago” I started. Emmett looked at me with hurt in his eyes. He gently laced his fingers with mine as I spoke.
“I was at this slumber party thing with my marching band from my old school. Things like drinking and other stuff started happening and I got scared so I called my parents.”
“it was also raining really bad and they both got out in the middle of the night to come and get me. I think part of them were convinced that I was part of all the drinking so we started to argue” I felt the tears prick my eyes as felt the guilt flood me.
“We slid off a bridge and me and Owen were the only survivors” I rest my head on his shoulder a cried softly. “I blame myself and it so hard sometimes”
Emmett placed his ice cold hand on my chin and lifted it up gently. “it's not your fault no one blames you” he said softly. I looked into his gold eyes thank full I had him in my life.
“as long as your with me you'll never get hurt” he said truthfully.
“you promise?” I asked. He smiled and nodded. “I promise... And after we graduated I promis to take you to Graceland” he said softly kissing my forehead. I softly chuckled at the last part as he smiled at me.
I made me feel safe. Since mom and dad died I felt his unnerving pain through out my body. I was lost and Emmett saved me. God what's happening to me.
enhypen as love tropes (hyung line)
enhypen hyung line as love tropes!
genre: fluff, love tropes
word count: 0.9k (960)
Lee Heeseung
High school sweethearts
I can definitely see heeseung in a sweet little lovely dovey high school sweethearts kind of thing
You two would start dating in sophomore year after the both of you had been crushing on each other THE ENTIRE FRESHMAN YEAR
And somehow everyone knew but you two
It started in freshman bio when the teacher put the two of you next to each other
But both of you were wayyyy too shy to actually say anything
So you two would just glance (stare) at each other until the other saw
But when he finally did ask you out
(in sophomore year after a full year of pining from both of you)
Everyone was so excited, they were like “finally we don't have to hear about you gushing about each other anymore”
Oh how wrong they were
You give each other heart eyes in the hallways and blow kisses at each other
Your friends always fake gag at the two of you
But deep down everyone thinks your relationship is really sweet
You definitely get voted cutest couple
read the rest below the cut!
Park Jongseong
Destiny
As much as we think of jay as a romantic guy
I think he would truly mean it when he says the two of you are made for each other
He would believe that the two of you meeting and your relationship is fate
Jay can’t see what the two of you have in any other way
You balance each other out perfectly
You compensate for where he lacks and he does the same for you
You aren’t a good public speaker? He excels at public speaking
You are a great drawer? He can’t draw to save his life
You love to bake? He loves to cook
Even the way to two of you met was like something out of a romance novel
You had dropped something and he was a stranger who picked it up for you
When the your eyes locked and your hands brushed by each other when you went to grab your stuff, it felt like fireworks were going off
It might sound sappy or whatever, but for Jay it really was love at first sight
He would describe the two of you as perfect for each other
Sometimes at night when you are already asleep
He thanks the stars and whoever is listening in the universe for making you his destiny
Sim Jaeyun
Loud boy x quiet girl
When jake first found out you were so quiet
He made it his personal mission to get you to speak comfortably with him
He figured that it wouldnt take that much effort
Yet for some reason every time he tried to talk to you,,, you just ignored him (he was flabbergasted tbh)
The more and more he tried to find ways to talk to you, the more he noticed how pretty you were and your cute little habits
like the way you furrowed your eyebrows when the teacher said something you didnt understand
or the way you puffed out your cheeks when you were focused
One day when jake just wouldn't stop pestering you to listen to him tell this one story, you finally sighed and turned to him, showing him that you were actually listening
He got flustered and you just kinda raised your eyebrow and told him to go on
He smiled so damn bright and told his story with that dopey grin on his face the whole time (you had to hold back your own smile just from seeing his)
At the end of the story, he scooted a little closer to you and was like “so,,, would you wanna go get coffee with me later? This new place just opened up downtown and i think it would be really cool to go check-”
“Sure, i’ll go with you”
You kinda just cut him off because he had already talked your ear off, but you cant admit that you did enjoy his company
Park Sunghoon
Best friend’s brother
Falling for your best friend’s brother almost felt like a sin
You saw him almost every time you went over to your friend’s house
It was funny to see the two of them always bickering
You and him never really paid much attention to each other at first, even though he was around your age
Until one day when your friend left to two of you alone together while she went to go get something
It was the most awkward you had ever felt in your life
The two of you just kinda stared at each other until she came back
Later that day when just her and you were hanging out she randomly turned to you
“You should date my brother, you two would be cute together”
You choked on air
“What????” you were beyond confused
She just shrugged and was like “I just think your personalities go well together and i’m pretty sure he has a crush on you anyways. Just think about it, okay?”
Oh you thought about it alright
The more you thought about it, the more you realized how much you had grown fond of him, Sunghoon was funny, smart, and oh god was he handsome
And then you realized you liked Sunghoon. Park Sunghoon, your best friend’s brother
The next day when you went over to your best friend’s house again, she had a big smile on her face like she was plotting something
She suddenly called out to someone behind her and you heard footsteps approaching the two of you
And low and behold, it’s the boy you had been thinking about, with flowers and a nervous smile
“Do you wanna go out with me? My sister is okay with it, so you don’t have to worry”
PT2 Of prom with clyde please omg I literally sat down to read it whilst listening to You belong with me by taylor swift and I CANT NOT SOB OVER HOW GOOD IT WAS WRITTEN
Warning: Swearing
Background: After you two kiss you and Clyde have a conversation about where to go after this
Status: Request Open
Previous part
Next part
Clyde x Reader prom pt. 2
As you and Clyde sat outside in the cold night air away from all the music and dancing inside. Clyde took off his blazer and draped it over your shoulders and drop your head to his shoulder. You two sat there enjoying each other's presence.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you how pretty you looked today." He whispered looking forward, watching the occasional car pass
"It's ok." You whispered scooting closer to him your shoulders now touching.
"Is it? I made you cry. Your makeup is ruined and I did that." He said looking down at you and wiping away some of your still-wet tears.
"No, I just get stupid when I drink. I...I'm sorry I yelled at you inside." You say looking up at him as he wiped off your tears.
"Well, it was more of a loud whisper." He joked making you laugh softly. "There she is."
"I'm sorry I ruined the night." You said softly.
"No, it's my fault." He said with a sigh. "I should have gotten over Bebe and enjoyed the time I had with you."
"I get it. You've been with her since we were kids I guess it was kinda dumb to think you'd feel the same for me after a week of fake dating."
"I liked you before that. I know you didn't like me until we started 'dating'." He said looking down at his feet with a smile.
"I just couldn't feel that way for you while you were with Bebe but honestly I think I always kinda did." You said leaning your head on his shoulder again.
"Do you really want to be with me? I'm kinda not much." He said with a chuckle but tears fall down his cheeks.
"I like you Clyde I like how you act all romantic and how you say dumb shit." You say making him chuckle. You gently wipe away his tears which only made him cry more. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"I've never had anyone do this for me." He said looking over at you as you wipe his tears. "I'm sorry I'm such a crybaby."
"You have a big heart it's only natural." You whispered kissing his forehead softly.
"I don't deserve this I don't deserve you." He said hugging you and burying his face in your shoulder.
"Clyde you deserve to be loved and cared for. I want to be that for you." You whisper, rubbing his back.
He pulls back and laughs softly, feeling silly for crying. "I'm sorry I don't know why I'm crying."
"Its ok." You said holding his hand. "So where do you wanna go from here?"
"I want to be with you. Like actually not just for some stupid plan. Just with you." He said looking down at you
"I'd like that. Like I'd really like that." You said with a small smile.
He smiled and pulled you closer kissing you softly which you gladly kissed back. Craig, Tweek, Jimmy, and Tolkien stepped out to come looking for you two and stared at the scene in front of them.
"Woah wasn't expecting that." Tolkien said with a frown and pulling out his wallet.
"Yeah yeah pay up." Craig said holding his hand out where Tolkien placed fifty dollars.
"K-knew you believed in them." Tweek said with a smirk and pinching Craig's cheek making him roll his eyes.
"S-should w-we tell them to co-co-come inside?" Jimmy asked the guys, keeping his voice low to not disturb you and Clyde as you guys kissed.
"Hey, lovebirds, last dance is coming up!" Tolkien shouted making you two pull away with a small laugh.
"We're coming." You say standing up and dusting off your dress and extending your hand to Clyde who gladly took it and walked back inside with you.
As your group walked back in laughing and talking, you noticed the party was still very much alive. As you made your way on stage Bebe walked up to you and Clyde. You felt nervous but she didn't seem angry.
"You left this." She said, handing Clyde his crown which he took with shaky hands.
"T-thank you Bebe." He said putting the crown on.
"Here you should have this. Doesn't feel right having it." She said handing you the crown from her head. "I'm happy for you both."
You took the crown and looked up at her smiling softly. She gave a simple nod and walked off, leaving you in Clyde there is shock.
"I didn't expect that from her." You whispered looking up at Clyde.
"I didn't either but I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me happy. Shall we my queen?" He asked leading you to the dance floor.
You followed him dancing for the rest of the songs. While it was a rough start, it was nice being this close to him. It felt right being in his arms, being able to finally stop being his fake girlfriend. And while you didn't need it, having Bebe's blessing made it easier for you two to finally make this stupid plan into a not so stupid relationship.
A/N: Again thank you so much to the person who asked this I love you so much and I hope you liked this and whoever asked this if you reading this lemme know what song you listening to this time 🩷🩷 Anyway as always if you want me to write something plz ask and it will be pumped out on Sundays in the order in which I get them🩷🩷 Love you all thank you for reading 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
Director's commentary: Cockblock
Alright, this is gonna be LONG bc I have so many feelings about this story. So also, a read more, for reasons. I apologize in advance, not really.
Also? Spoilers? I guess if you haven't read the fic. Which if you do wanna read it you can find it here
first off, the moment that started it all bc tbh that's how 90% of these fics start. some random ass comment one of us make and it just takes off. (looking at u blank space)
So two things that were very evident for me with this fic was that I fully believe Jake and Bradley are capable of embarrassment, but it is few and far between. Which, don't relate in the slightest. You cannot put either of them in the spotlight and expect them not to ham it up in the slightest. They will take it to the next level, and they will not care. And this is important bc the second thing is:
They are competitive. Becoming a naval aviator is not easy, it's not something you casually fall into. It's something you want to do, and you train and study and do everything you can to get there. And on top of that, canonically they're the best. They were chosen for the mission for a reason and so they're the top of their classes/cohort/wherever they are for a reason.
And we know Jake and Bradley have history so when Nimue mentioned this idea I knew I wanted to take those two reasons and just mush it all up into the most competitive fake dating.
This wasn't going to be awkward romance. This was going to be 'i will fuck you on the floor if it means im winning' kinda romance. They wanna outdo each other, they want to be the best and sometimes that means they get in trouble (ie. the bet in the beginning of the story) or when Bradley fell asleep in Jake's lap and Of course jake would take care of him? Who else would it be?
But also, because they had had this antagonistic relationship that essentially had to be put to the side in order to maintain the belief they were the best it finally gave them a chance to see who the other person actually was with the adversarial nature of their relationship not necessarily taking a backseat to everything they're doing, but actually morphing into something else in the same way we see the rest of the Daggers kind of joking around.
And then it just keeps growing, because they don't really have defenses for each other in this context. Bradley can say the worst things to Jake (you're going to lead someone to an early grave) and it might hurt, but Jake isn't going to shut down over it. And Jake can call Bradley out (ie: the dad comment) and Bradley can get up in Jake's face but the next (whatever the fucking timeline is int hat movie jfc) day they're fine? They know how to be the antagonistic in each others stories, but friendship? A relationship? That's something new.
Especially for Jake, who did have a crush on Bradley but it wasn't something that was holding him back. It was something there, but it never stopped him from dating, and being with people and I would never classify it as love? Not truly because Jake wouldn't actually love someone who treated him the way Bradley and he treated each other, but he definitely would start sinking into those feelings as their fake relationship progressed. He saw the opportunity in the beginning of the story to get close to Bradley, just for fun, not because he's sitting there wallowing and pining and writing sad poems in his journal, but he's not gonna lie and say it wasn't also nice being that close to Bradley and not have an argument.
And then for Bradley, I really feel like the switch from seeing Jake as someone he's competing against, to someone he could be friends with, is in Chapter 4 when Jake makes him dinner, and opens up a little bit more about wanting to make it to Admiral, and how he's wants to get his PhD and he's got a plan. He's got a family who loves him, and he loves them and, unlike a lot of people, understands that while Mav isn't his biological father, he was the one who was there, and so while the title isn't 'Dad' the actions definitely are. So it was the start of a connection bc of Jake's relationship with his stepdad, who, in all the ways according to him, is his actual Dad. Bc he was the one who was there.
And it's not perfect, bc of what happened to Goose vs Jake's bio dad being a Raging Douchebag, but it's a start.
And following that moment is when we start to see them opening up more and more. Jake coming out as gay, not bisexual to Bradley and wanting to go to the gala as a statement. And then when Bradley falls asleep in Jake's lap at brunch, and they have the most minor argument but it's still them so they don't know how to handle it anymore within the context of each other and it just keeps growing and then they're kissing, and having sex and are intimate in that regards, Jake telling Bradley about his Mom, and Bradley talking about his Mom and how much he misses her even then and it's a grief he can't ever close, and it just keeps growing, and every moment is bringing them closer and closer to the edge.
But neither one of them can really toss themselves over it because they have so much history that they still haven't completely dealt with so it's hard, and complicated, esp with these new feelings.
My personal HC for Jake is that he is, while very gregarious, he also keeps things close to the chest, and he plans. And keeps making plans and more plans bc if he has a plan, then he can account for everything. But Bradley is steady, he flies steady right up until the moment he doesn't. and so Jake has a plan. And his plans have plans but for all their relationship looks real to the outside world, to each other it's still brand new because in some respects, it doesn't exist.
They have a relationship yes, but they're not IN a relationship. Not truly and so Jake can't plan for that. But Bradley doesn't need a plan because once he makes a decision, he just goes. And he wanted to tell Jake, he decided he was going to tell Jake and talk to him but talking is hard but it's a good thing he is the unholy product of Carole/Goose with some input from Mav and Ice so he will sing about it. Because he can use someone elses words to talk about it, and it works.
SO yeah, this was a very long winded way to talk about how their relationship morphed and changed because of the dumbass way they had to fake date to get funding, which is the biggest authors handwave of density ever but it was a good one. They couldn't fight anymore because they were faking it, so they, as Jake said early on, had to become friends but the problem was, there was always too much passion and fire for it to be easy, and it could've gone badly for sure. It could've crashed and burned.
But that would mean they would lose, and it's a lot easier to keep your mouth shut about shit that might once have pissed you off and let it slide off your back when you're a hyper-competitive asshole who likes winning. And when you let a lot of the anger slide off your back? Then it's impressive what can grow in it's wake.
And I had so much fun writing it, and I'm so so so glad it resonated with people.
Random other things:
Jake's Mom and his stepdad bc they were the best part of the Prometheus movie: Idris Elba and Charlize Theron
Bradley laying on the couch and lamenting to Mav and Ice is a personal HC of mine that I will never let go of. This man is Dramatic and he will be dramatic about it. Even if Ice and Mav aren't together, he will be Dramatic about it to one of them.
I figured out what songs I wanted Bradley to sing a full three months before I even got to that point. Especially You're So Vain bc I just have the image of all the daggers singing it to Jake in good faith, and before it would've made him annoyed, but now its just friends ragging on friends.
I had a whole plotline I ended up discarding where the Daggers had a BBQ style thing for and Marcus, Jake's Dad shows up and Jake is just like DAD and Payback is like "the fuck you mean Dad" and Bradley's keeping a straight face through sheer force of will alone bc Jake was right, it is fucking hilarious trying to watch people try not to ask, and figure it out.
There was also a second idea where someone asked who's sister that was. And it was Jake's Mom, bc she is young.
I may also write this at some point bc it would also be when Bradley met Jake's parents and he is PANICING bc Jake's Dad is a SEAL.
I am forever enamored of the diea that Bradley is Mav's responsibility 100% and he is like THIS CHILD WILL NOT BE A TEENAGE FATHER and proceeded to give the most horrifying, in depth discussion of sex. Charlie, Ice, Mav, Sarah, Penny. Anyone he could talk to gave him input on it. Plot twist: Bradley got laid a lot in college bc he was respectful, understood consent, knew what the fuck he was doing, and like. Word got around and as a result, he had A Lot Of Fun. But he didn't knock anyone up.
One of the first scenes I had in my head was actually the end of the fic and it was this moment:
“You said you weren’t writing sad poems. Does this mean there are other kinds of poems?” Bradley asked. “Or a journal?” Jake tilted his head down enough to see the smirk curling the edges of Bradley’s mouth, and he used his free hand to pinch his side. “No journal, asshole.”
I'm also very proud of the limerick I wrote
There once as a man we loved to mock Ge was always racing against the clock. We called him Rooster cuz he needed a booster. But mostly, I just really like his big cock.
um yeah. so this is long lol so i should shush. but i have a lot of feelings about this fic and i had fun. so 🤣 HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY LOTR EXTENDED EDITION DIRECTORS COMMENTARY ON COCKBLOCK
Additional thoughts about that Oiran!Irina AU
bc I know way too much about the lives of women in the red light districts of the Edo period of Japanese history (and I'm also close to falling asleep and that seems to be when all the motivation and good ideas come)
[ original post here. Would have just reblogged it with this new stuff but I'm about to go to bed and only have my phone and wrote this in drafts before I had that idea ]
First thing's first, I wanna educate some people bc this is a genuinely super fascinating topic to me:
Patrons were basically always LONG-TERM— at least if you were a courtesan and not the kind of sex-worker who was hired for one-time things
Because it wasn't only the obvious aspect that the men who were with courtesans were paying for; it was also basically a 'relationship' experience. They payed not only to sleep with the courtesan— and that usually didn't happen until at LEAST the 3d date— but also to come and basically have dates with them, spend time with them, flirt and stuff, and for them to listen to your troubles. It was also assumed to be monogamous— at least for the Patron. The courtesan was, of course, a courtesan, so it was literally her job to be with multiple people. But the Patron was only allowed to be seeing one courtesan at a time
And back to what I wanted to say
There was a thing where, a courtesan cutting off a lock of her hair to give to one of her patrons was seen as 'proof' of her love, since the hair was considered very valuable to a courtesan and to her beauty. (Some courtesans even payed someone to get a lock of hair from just— wherever, and pretended it was their own)
And I started thinking about Malleus, slightly misunderstanding the intricate, unwritten social rules of this whole thing— it was typically only the courtesan who did it— only seeing the 'a lock of your hair is a proof of love' part, and one day he cuts off a lock of his own hair and gives it to her, saying something about her now always having something to remind her of him, even when they can't always be near each other.
And, there was also a more extreme version of the hair thing, which involved the courtesan cutting off her pinky finger to give to her patron. This was most likely faked most of the time though, and it was more about the intent of it if I remember correctly— so it was normal, and actually expected, for a courtesan to make a big deal about how she was going to do it, maybe even taking out a knife, and the patron stopping her right before she actually did it.
And Irina, having grown up in this world* (I'll explain this more at the end of the post bc I caught myself infodumping again) has kinda come to romanticize this.
So I imagine that she actually tells him that she'll give him her pinky finger— just because she'd have grown up with that being what was expected to do to show your devotion to someone— but instead of the response she expected he looks really sad. And he kisses her fingers and tells her that he would never want her to hurt herself for his sake, and that it broke his heart to hear she would even think of doing something like that to herself. And also that it will always be infinitely more beautiful still attached to her.
Irina, having grown up with all these weird social rules (that were ONLY 'the norm' in the red light districts— and most of the really out-there stuff more in Yoshiwara) and— she, at least, given her mental state— seeing them as the norm, as 'just what one does' felt a bit confused by his actions.
She's the kind of person who would genuinely buy into the 'proof of love' stuff, especially if it was just a thing in the culture she grew up in, so she sees it for exactly the gesture he meant it as. And she's never been the one who had someone wanting to show proof of their love to her.
So it kinda made her go
Irina ended up cutting a big lock of her own hair to give to him, as well— not bc it was expected of her, but because of his own sentiment, of having something of the others for when they missed each other
Oh oh also—
A thing that could add angst in this AU is that, in general, a courtesan wasn't actually allowed to fall in love, even with one of her own patrons, bc it might risk her wanting to run away with that person or refusing to see her other patrons entirely. A courtesan's job was to pretend to be in love, but never actually be in love
But maybe one day she'd lament how she wished she could be with only him
And then Malleus says he'll just double whatever the combined sum all her other patrons are paying is so it wouldn't be something her Madame could complain about
Irina, probably not realizing he's actually being 100% serious, would say it would be nice if he could
Then the literal next day she finds out he actually fckn did it
*Women who went on to become high-rank courtesans were almost always purchased by brothels from starving or sick or indebted or otherwise not well off families when they were still very young, between the ages of 5-9. At first they were made basically the 'little sister' of a woman who was already a courtesan. So the girl's big sister would care for her, feed her, clothe her, etc. And the girl would basically be her way of communicating with people. Because a courtesan couldn't just DIRECTLY go up to a patron she liked and ask him to spend more time with her bc of a bunch of those aforementioned unwritten social rules. So instead, the little sister would find him and ask him to come see her big sister.
They also did things like run errands, accept gifts on their big sister's behalf, and tell their sister about any news or gossip they heard
Courtesans usually had one or two little sisters. And I don't remember exactly when, but at some point, if one of them showed promise in music or some other art, was particularly pretty, and socially skilled, she began to be considered a courtesan-in-training herself, until she was considered old enough to become a fully-fledged courtesan (which was usually still very young by today's standards— I've heard around 14-15 was a common age— though I could be wrong, it's been a lil while)
Hi this may be niche and non existent but I am looking for wolf star fics where Sirius is hooking up/dating women (maybe Marlene). Remus has to see or hear stuff he doesn’t want to and gets jealous/ pines.
Happy ending w/ endgame wolf star if possible! Also ok if Sirius is hooking up with/dating men but I ask for women cuz it’s harder to find.
Thank you!!
Hi!
I don't have a ton of recs, but I did find a few. Hopefully this is what you're looking for!
Sirius/Marlene:
waited all this time to call you mine by ziahra [T, 121k] (You asked for pining Remus? You got it with this one)
In a world where everyone has a timer on their left wrist that counts down until the day realise they are in love with their soulmate, Remus falls in love with his soulmate 3 years before he reciprocates. Remus knew the timers were set in stone. They were inevitable, and there was nothing he could do to change the timer or speed up the process. And Sirius would return Remus’ feelings, eventually. Oh God. His timer had hit zero. And he had been thinking of Sirius. He was in love with Sirius. “Oh my God! Who was it?” Sirius begins to ask, but Remus can’t hear him. His ears are blocked with water, and his mind is far from the little rink in which they stand. Instead of trying to listen, he looks instead. He looks at Sirius’ wrist, where the numbers stare mockingly back at him. 27, 391 hours.
What I Heard by fishcommuter [E, 28k] (not 100% sure if this is exactly what you're looking for because it's on my to-read list still, but it might be)
Word on the street is Sirius is with Remus, but nobody bothered to tell either of them. Marlene, Sirius's actual girlfriend, thank you very much, is not thrilled. As the fall term settles into their last winter at school, things happen, feelings occur, Sirius and Remus are obviously in love, and the students of Hogwarts prove hard to surprise. Sirius switched on the ringer with his thumb and handed the phone back over. "Leave it on, okay?" "You have a map with my exact whereabouts at your disposal, you know this, yes?" "It can't get you to do things, though." "You can't get me to do things." "I can be very persuasive if you bother to read the messages." "You'd have separation anxiety if I bothered to read the messages." Sirius boffed him on the head. "Already do." He ducked this time.
Mutually Beneficial by clevernotbrilliant [T, 4k] (Does it count if the Sirius/Marlene is fake dating?)
Sirius Black is in love with Remus Lupin. Marlene McKinnon is in love with Emmeline Vance. The obvious solution? Date each other.
jimmy's party by orphan_account [G, 13k] (angst? angst.)
And he’s been expecting this, right? It’s been building for weeks; Remus has known this was coming. Eventually, even Sirius has grown tired of snogging girls in broom cupboards who’s names he takes a few seconds to recall when asked about them. If Marlene’s who he’s chosen, well..good. Marlene’s perfect for him, even Remus can see that. Sirius deserves someone like her. or: Remus isn’t jealous of Sirius and Marlene. On the contrary: he gets it. They look good together. So if they want to dance at the post-quidditch-match party, that’s alright. It’s fine, and Remus’ll demonstrate as such by having some fun of his own. Upcoming full moon be damned.
Reasons Why by silverbook [G, 3k]
Remus likes Marlene McKinnon, he really does. Except he also kinda hates her.
Now I Wanna Be Your Dog by pixelated [E, 20k] (this has Sirius/Marlene and also Remus/OC before the wolfstar endgame. They're both pining.)
Sirius clunks about in his Doc Martens and listens to The Stooges and smokes cigarettes and wears his hair much too long and spends more time serving detention than not. And is way too forward about his sudden feelings for Remus. (A story about teenagers and summer love in the 70s.)
The Boys of Summer by todaslasmadrugadas [T, 73k] (The Sirius/Marlene in this is rather short lived, but Remus is pining and it's a slow burn so... close enough?)
The Summer of 1978 was supposed to be the same as the previous one. And the one before that. Because, in the provincial village of Fenneltown, where 16-year-old Remus Lupin lives, nothing ever changes. Not really. Until this year, everything does.
Hey, Jealousy by BrianJustin4Ever [T, 1k]
Remus contends with his jealousy.
Sirius/OFC:
Jealousy, Jealousy by AshParadox [T, 924]
Remus has trouble focusing on what Lily is saying at the moment. His eyes are fixed on Sirius, who is in the middle of the room, dancing with some Hufflepuff girl. Remus feels a burning sensation in the pit of his stomach. “You should make him jealous.”
Drunken Mistakes (It Was Never A Mistake) by artemis143 [T, 3k]
It was Sirius Black's 16th birthday party and James Potter suggests that they play truth or dare
The Date by rhye [G, 422] (it's short but oh so ouchie)
Sirius has a date with a pureblood his mother wants him to marry. But he's also dating Remus. Remus watches him prepare for his date.
Honorable Mention (because it doesn't have pining Remus. It is, in fact, fake dating blackinnon from Marlene's POV. Wolfstar does get together though :) and the fic is good!) :
passionfruit by poppunkpadfoot [M, 4k]
“How would you feel about a free trip to France this summer?” “That depends. What’s the catch?” “It’s a trip with my family,” Marlene says. She can’t quite bring herself to look Sirius in the eye as she continues, “I’d be introducing you as my boyfriend.”
i wanna cut to the feeling (chapter 3)
Eddie Munson x Steve Harrington
Summary: Robin drags her best friend to a Corroded Coffin show. How were they to know sparks would fly between Steve and a member of the band? (aka, the fic where Steve fixes Eddie's hair before a show and falls in love immediately)
Word Count: 2.7K for this chapter, but it's an ongoing fic
Warnings: Everybody is a gay disaster, Hairstylist!Steve is a petty bitch, Rockstar!Eddie is a bit of a diva, Robin knows Steve too well, nothing crazy yet but I reserve the right to get crazy later
A/N: Here we go again, folks! I can't stop writing lol. Steve's jealousy in this chapter makes me laugh, so enjoy! PS, would anyone be interested in me creating fake lyrics to Corroded Coffin songs? As always, thanks for reading ❤️
Previous Chapter ~ Next Chapter
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“No way. Dude, that’s so fucking dope.” Eddie could not believe what he was staring at. “Guys! Come see this!” He gestured for the others in the band to come closer to him and this fan - Bri, that was her name - who had gotten a Corroded Coffin tattoo. She had an actual, permanent, badass tattoo about Eddie’s band, and that was the coolest thing that had ever happened to him. A tattoo? Hooooly shit. “Thank you, we are so honored.”
“You’re welcome,” she responded. “The song just meant a lot to me, you know? Like, I don’t know exactly what you were going through, but it’s so universal I think.”
The tattoo was a reference to one of the band's earliest songs, ‘86’ - written entirely by Eddie his senior year. He was flipping burgers at the time, which was totally humiliating, by the way, and they used to always use the term 86 when something ran out. Anyway, at that point in his life he felt rejected quite a bit. Left out. Eighty-sixed. You know?
It was probably their softest song, sound-wise, but that didn’t mean it was less angry than their other music. In fact, it was one he wrote while he probably felt the most angry, or hopeless at least. They hadn’t played it tonight, because it didn’t match the vibe, but it was one of his favorites.
And this girl, Bri, had a tiny 86 on the inside of her wrist. She had lots of tattoos, actually. He noticed one on her collar bone of a slice of watermelon.
“What’s this one for?” he asked, curious.
“I just really like watermelon,” she replied.
Eddie smirked. He kinda liked this girl.
-
“Tattoos are so cool,” Robin sighed, staring wistfully at her future date. “I wish I had one.”
“You can get one, you know,” Steve responded. “Oh, right. You do know, because of the time you dragged me to a shop and got all the way to the chair just to panic and run out of the store.”
“I thought we agreed to never mention that again.”
“It was relevant,” Steve shrugged.
He watched Eddie interact with Bri, like he was smitten or something. Steve wondered if that’s what he looked like. He figured he held it together enough before in the dressing room, but now? He really had to keep himself restrained.
This is fine. Pretending he didn’t like guys was something he used to do all the time. Eddie smirked at something she said, and ran his fingers through his beautiful hair. This is fine, god dammit.
Steve couldn’t get a good read on Bri, despite the intrigue. She was facing away from him, so it was hard to tell exactly how she was feeling, but she seemed somewhat receptive to Eddie’s charms. It’s just that she had also just accepted to go on a date with Robin.
Not that it’s bad for someone to accept a date and then flirt with other people. She was completely in her rights, and it didn’t really have anything to do with her anyway. With awesome, perfect, beautiful Bri who somehow had the attention of both Robin and Eddie. Fantastic.
Eddie was fully enraptured in his conversation with her, now.
Yes, okay, fine! Steve was kind of a jealous person! I mean, he had jealous tendencies. Or, more accurately, when he felt jealous he turned a little petty. If he had to have a bad quality, there are worse ones, you know? But otherwise, he thought he was a pretty good dude. He made decent money for a 24 year old. He was good at his job. He was loyal and protective, and he always tried to see the good side of things - tried being the key word there.
Eddie was way too good at flirting with these women, almost like it was nothing. How could he do that? Do the fans really mean that little to him that he’d just go after them all and wait for one to stick? It wasn’t the worst tactic, and it’s not like he was being disrespectful about it, but still. He was laying it on so thick it was insane.
Ah, shit. It was none of Steve’s business. Eddie could do whatever he wanted with whoever he wanted, but Steve had the petty, judgemental thought anyway - Am I attracted to a fuckboy?
-
“Well, it was so great to finally meet you. Hopefully I’ll catch you at another show sometime.”
Eddie was impressed at how cool and collected Bri was. She seemed to completely respect his work, and even though she was a huge fan and had a Corroded Coffin tattoo, she didn’t come off like she had an altar at home dedicated to them or anything like that - although Eddie couldn’t deny he’d still think that was dope.
“Yeah, I hope I do.” He smiled at her, genuinely, without a trace of the fake flirtation he was so used to putting on for these women. She smiled back, then waved goodbye and took off, leaving only Steve and Robin in front of him.
“Well, well, well.” Eddie’s eyes narrowed, eager to find out how this conversation was going to go. “If it isn’t my knight in shining…polo?” He noticed Robin snort at his joke, but Steve crossed his arms, defiant.
“Fuck you, it’s a Cuban collar.” Eddie’s eyes widened in surprise, which was the first big reaction Steve had been able to get from him. It’s kind of what he was going for, despite the fact he was coming off a bit aggressive. “And I don’t own any shiny clothing, that’s tacky.” He allowed the corners of his mouth to turn upwards just enough to show that he was, in fact, being a dick as a joke. Robin shot him a suspicious glance, and he knew it was only a matter of time before she figured him out, like she always did.
Steve tended to act kind of mean like this towards guys he liked.
“Please forgive my friend, it’s well past his bedtime,” Robin chimed in, sending another quick glare in Steve’s direction.
“I’ll let it slide since he saved my ass earlier,” Eddie replied. “Good to see you, Buckley.”
“You remember me???” Steve tried not to groan at how excited Robin sounded. He really needed to calm down. None of this was really a huge deal, anyways. It had just been a long day, was all.
“Well yeah, you were the only person in English class worth talking to. Come here, doll.” Eddie pulled a completely stunned Robin into a hug - this was two unexpectedly positive interactions with people in a row for her, and entirely unprecedented. Steve felt a pang of jealousy at the idea of Eddie having a crush on Robin, or even just him flirting with her right in front of him. Why did Eddie get no sass at the term doll when Steve was always yelled at for calling her darling? It was a stupid reason to be jealous, considering Eddie had no shot with Robin, and besides, why did Steve care so much about who Eddie flirted with anyway? They literally just met.
“So you guys actually…knew each other back then?” Steve asked, confused.
“Not well or anything,” Robin clarified. “We just had one class together my Freshman year. But yeah, Corroded Coffin started in Hawkins. How do you think I learned about them?”
“Shit,” Steve said, eyebrows furrowed. “I had no idea.”
“Seriously, where the hell were you in high school?” Robin asked, annoyed.
“I know, right? It’s not like my presence was subtle,” Eddie chimed in.
“I was…busy, alright?” Steve had been dealing with his own problems back then, so he wasn’t really in tune with a lot of what was going on at Hawkins High. He knew about the sports teams, because he was on them. He knew who hosted the best parties, and who started the chlamydia outbreak senior year - that was a wild few weeks.
“Yeah, busy being a douchebag,” she teased. Eddie burst out laughing, which pissed Steve off even more.
He didn’t know Robin back then, but she knew him, and she made it very clear they would not have been friends. But none of that mattered, because Steve matured a lot once the stupid teen pressure of popularity, social status, and the constant need to look cool disappeared. Robin was the one who initiated all that change, basically, when they worked together the summer after he’d graduated. The rest is history.
“Well, I’m glad you came out tonight.” Eddie did not make it clear whether by you he meant you in the singular sense, as in Robin, or you in the plural, as in you all - you both.
Despite growing increasingly annoyed with Eddie and his stupid sexy hair, Steve obviously hoped it was the latter.
-
Steve was somehow both exactly what Eddie expected while simultaneously full of surprises. Perhaps it wasn’t Steve’s actions and words that were surprising, but the way they came off. Steve was actively being an asshole, just like he had been years prior, but this time it felt less obtrusive, and a whole lot more amusing.
Fuck you, it’s a Cuban collar. That was the most ridiculous sentence Eddie had ever heard, and Steve’s sincerity made it even better.
It must have been hot in the pit or something - Eddie noticed Steve had unfastened the button closest to his collar (the one of Cuban variety, apparently - although Eddie had never heard that term before in his life). His hair was a little more disheveled, his posture more relaxed, and the way he talked to Robin was vastly different than the way he’d appeared to Eddie before the show, or how he’d ever looked back in high school.
Ah, shit. Eddie sighed, unable to put the stupid thought away once it had been created. Am I attracted to Steve Harrington?
Eddie tucked that thought away to deal with later, because he sure as hell wasn’t going to let it ruin his fun for the night. It’s not like he never thought about Steve’s looks - of course he did. It’s that Steve had always been attractive. He had always been known to be attractive, by everybody. It’s part of the reason Eddie hated him so much.
And it was supposed to be the loser’s turn now - Eddie’s turn - because he was finally starting to feel confident in himself and his looks, and he was finally starting to become successful.
Everything was coming up Eddie Munson.
Steve Harrington and his perfect arms were irrelevant.
Eddie was extremely pleased to see Robin doing well, however. She had been in the lower ranks of popularity with Eddie, even though neither of them were ugly people or anything. Now, she obviously had more confidence (even though she was still the same in regards to her nervous energy). She was wearing a crop top, showing off her midriff. Eddie didn’t know her too well, but most people could have deduced that she would never have had the courage to wear something like that in high school. Not that she’d have been allowed to, for stupid dress code reasons, but whatever.
“Hey, man, you ready to head out?” Eddie looked next to him to see Jeff, and realized the rest of the band had already packed everything up while Eddie was busy talking to the people at the door. It was kind of a point of contention sometimes, between him and the rest of the band, that they always seemed to do the behind the scenes cleanup while Eddie got all the credit. But it’s not that he planned it that way - the fans were the ones who would make them famous, give them money. Eddie was basically networking, although it didn’t hurt that it stroked his ego at the same time. The band, however, were being all professional and shit, which was nice too but not super metal. They’d hadn’t gotten in trouble yet or anything, and that was all because of them.
Which was good. But Eddie couldn’t foresee himself ever missing out on these interactions outside the stage door. Just the way it was.
“Uh, yeah,” Eddie responded. He turned back to Steve and Robin. “You guys still down to come along?”
Robin nodded, enthusiastically, which was a reaction Eddie expected. He braced himself for whatever snark Steve was going to give him - maybe he’d even make some excuse about having to go home because it was sooo late or whatever - it was literally not even 9pm.
But, yet again, Steve surprised him.
“Yeah, where do you have in mind?”
Eddie didn’t know why Steve was so down to go out still, because of the way he’d continued to look mildly annoyed the entire night.
And then he remembered the goofy way he was jumping around, singing earlier at the show, and he figured that Steve was somewhere in there still. And that Steve seemed like a good time.
Eddie told them their usual bar that they went to when they were in the area, and they all agreed to meet there.
-
“What the hell is wrong with you? He was being totally nice, and you were acting like a jerk for no reason.” Robin was lecturing him in her tiny green car that she loved so much as they made their way to the bar Eddie told them to go to - neither of them had been before, but she’d heard of it from a coworker and it sounded like a fun place.
“I know, I’m sorry. I’ll be better at the bar, I promise,” Steve said.
“You better, because this is a really cool thing to have happened to us and I’m not letting you and your stupid romantic self-sabotaging tendencies ruin it.”
“Oh my god, it’s a mildly cool thing, Robin,” Steve insisted, before processing the rest of her sentence. There was no point in saying, what are you talking about? Because he knew. They both knew. “And I only self-sabotage when absolutely necessary.”
“That’s a lie,” Robin scoffed. “You’re getting special treatment from an actual Rockstar just because you were in the right place at the right time. Just submit to the fact that it’s awesome, okay?”
“Okay, fine!” Steve exclaimed with his hands in the air.
“So you have a crush on Eddie Munson,” she stated. Steve groaned at the words being out in the open. “What’s the big deal? We’re not in high school anymore, and Eddie’s a good-looking guy.”
“First of all, it’s not a crush. I barely know him,” Steve corrected.
“I think you crossed into at least acquaintance territory when he let you cut his hair,” Robin replied. Steve thought about this, and couldn’t disagree.
“It’s also when I crossed into gay panic territory,” he admitted. Robin laughed, then nodded in understanding.
“Yeah, seems like an intimate thing. I don’t know how you’ve gotten this far without wanting to bang a client before.”
“Robin!” Steve yelled, exasperated. “We’ve been over this. It’s -”
“Extremely unprofessional, I know. Steve, you have to loosen up a bit. You’ve gotten a little…” She paused, grimacing at the hole she’d put herself in.
“A little what?” Steve waited patiently for her to finish. She sighed.
“I’m sorry,” she prefaced. “But you’re so focused on work nowadays that we don’t have as much fun anymore. And it’s kind of like…Well, like when I first met you.”
“Noooo, you take that back,” Steve snapped, shocked. He wasn’t upset with her or anything, he just couldn’t believe he’d ever get that bad.
“Think about it,” she responded. So he did think about it. He thought about all the nights he’d stayed in, how he’d become a bit of a Debbie Downer, how he’d become less open and more judgemental. It had even been a while since he’d called and checked in on Dustin. He sighed.
“Shit. I’m sorry, Robin.”
“Don’t sweat it, just do better. Mmkay?”
He’d do anything for Robin, literally anything. So, he was going to be the most fun he could possibly be for the rest of the night. It was one drink, with a decent band, on a Friday night, and it was going to be fun, dammit. Minor crush on Eddie Munson be damned.
It was just a crush, right?

Joel’s the obvious choice for a White Trash Wedding fic. I think Joel was always capable of the violence he dished out, it just took the right circumstances and motivation to bring it out of him, so given the right motivation in the fic (loved one put at actual risk by the Earl-equivalent), he could absolutely make that decision. Tbh I could see him and Tommy doing it together, or you could make it just Joel, him not wanting to put his brother at risk, giving him plausible deniability.
There’s a number of ways ‘Earl’ could go, too. Texas has a lot of hog farms or deep creeks. You could also have him ‘accidentally’ fall into the dug out and prepped foundation of a building scheduled to have concrete poured that week👀 Easy guarantee of people never finding the body. ALSO also any of the community members or secondary players could pull a Skidmore, MO, and maybe the whole neighborhood/town just aren’t that sympathetic about ‘Earl’s’ disappearance 😌
Taking notes taking notes…
This is irrelevant at this point because this idea fucks but the song you’re referencing is Goodbye Earl, which I have also had rolling around in my head for a fic idea for a hot minute, not White Trash Wedding, but for real
I mean. Here hang on
youtube
“Well, the weeks went by and spring turned to summer / And summer faded into fall / And it turns out he was a missing person who nobody missed at all”
SOUNDS LIKE THE WHOLE TOWN IS NOT THAT SYMPATHETIC TO EARL’S DISAPPEARANCE.
Anyway. This idea is beautiful and I love the idea of Joel and Tommy kicking ass for the “Wanda” character.
THAT SAID I would like to talk about White Trash Wedding for a moment. First of all because they fit THAT MUCH OF A BANGER into basically three verses.
youtube
“You can't afford no ring / You can't afford no ring / I shouldn't be wearing white / And you can't afford no ring”
“You finally took my hand / You finally took my hand / It took a nip of gin / But you finally took my hand”
THEN SKIP TO THE LAST VERSE
“Baby's on its way / Baby's on its way / Say I do and kiss me quick / 'Cause baby's on its way”
LIKE HELLO!!!!!!!!!
Imagine that! Joel gets you pregnant! He doesn’t wanna desert you but he’s also a little bit commitment-phobic, and you’re like. Dude. Let’s just get married. It’d placate my parents and we love each other anyway. And he’s like. Mmmmmmmmmmm yeah idk maybe. And you keep badgering him about it as you get closer and closer to your due date and finally you sit the man down with a drink for him and a not-alcoholic drink for you. And you’re like. Here’s the deal. You wanna be this kids dad? Marry me. And after the drink. He finally agrees. And you wanna get this show on the road and so do your parents, but you’re like, PREGNANT at this point. But you have a wedding date set anyway, a week before your due date, which is hubris at its finest. The day comes and you feel weird. Then you start having contractions. And you’re convinced they’re the fake ones, bc your due date isn’t for a week. You have time. And so you just tough it out which is MUCH easier said than done. But then. You’re in it. Wedding is happening. Joel knows something is up. You know something is up. Everyone’s kinda like. Something is up. And then about halfway through your vows you throw the towel in you’re like “alright this baby is coming right the fuck now let’s wrap this up.” Everyone is now freaking out trying to get you comfortable but you and Joel both are like, trying not to laugh about it because frankly this is insane. This is an insane series of events.

Aahhhhh I fucking love those suggestions for the song!! I never felt super comfortable with that bit, thank you;!
Iggy and Mickey split singing (much like Joe and Nick Jonas!) But Mickey does most of the press and talking bc Iggy strongly dislikes public speaking (y'know that one twenty one pilots VMA acceptance speech where josh dun is like "I'm ONLY talking bc Tyler is making me I'm the drummer I HATE talking"? Iggy and Colin have that vibe and they are both perfectly okay with Mickey doing the talking)
Viches goes viral when black parade drops, and that's around when Lip meets Mickey in passing at an interview. They exchange numbers bc he thinks Carl or Debbie might wanna Collab with them (Carl eventually does, the song is "don't throw out my Legos" by AJR.)
Ian and Mickey hit it off RIGHT away. Ian's sexuality has always been sorta an open secret, but he officially comes out not too too long after he and Mickey start dating? He fake dates a few guys who are in the know because he knows Mickey's fans could possibly be WAY less accepting than the fashion world, and he 1000% gets that Mickey isn't ready yet (AS IT FUCKING SHOULD OF BEEN IN CANON JOHN WELLS I AM LOOKING DISRESPECTFULLY AT YOU)
Ian starts acting more as time goes on, because he really does love it!! He gets an EMT acting job on like, Chicago med or something, and he falls deeply in love with it and gets an EMT or paramedic certification. He knows that joining an actual ambulance crew would make their job really hard, but he volunteers for all sorts of first aid jobs with charities and such -- a picture of him giving first aid to a child in Africa goes viral, and Ian hates it bc it makes him look "white savior"ish so he floods his twitter with pictures of the rest of the people on that trip
Svetlana and Yevgeny exist in this au. They divorce pretty early on but it's amicable and they live comfortably. With Svetlana's blessing, Mickey tells their story publicly in support of talking about male sexual abuse.
Neotheater is... Sort of a goodbye album? Viches is very worried that their fans are gonna drop them after they put this album out. So Mickey decides that if this IS their last album, he's gonna fucking come out. Get Up's music video is mostly black and white, occasionally cutting to a young boy in a small room with a locked door. The young boy is filmed in full color, and during the bridge of the song Mickey opens the door and bursts into full color (it's a METAPHOR Mandy!!) And also during the music video he kisses Ian on camera. Iggy and Colin are *so* proud of him.
Debbie and Sandy kinda have a fake relationship that they aren't sure how fake it is. Debbie comes out in a fit of anger and no one takes her seriously, so she asks Sandy to help her.
I never considered Ian going on tour with the band!! I think I love it.
So.... I see you and nosho's angsty guitar player au.
I raise you my own celebrity au
Frank and Monica were part of this famous 80s band with Tommy and Kermit, their kids are like Hollywood royalty. Fiona is an actress who kinda had a child star crash and burn a while back, but she's recovering and reclaiming her independence. Lip acts, Carl is like Justin Bieber everyone thinks he's hot. Debbie sings, and Liam is kinda staying out of the limelight for now.
Ian models, mostly, with a bit of acting here and there. Lip introduced him to Mickey, because Lip met him at an interview once and there's some mutual respect there.
Mickey Colin and Iggy have a band called Viches, they do punkrock and metal, but in their later years they transition into something a little more upbeat. Their most famous song is black parade (apologies Mr Gerard way I'm borrowing it I promise I'll give it back) and they sing it at the end of every show. One of their albums is titled "Burn it Down", the cover pic is mickey edited onto a burning sofa in black and white. It's angry and pissed off at the world. The album immediately after that is titled neotheater, and it's a darker look at the trauma and how it's still affectinh them
Ian and Mickey date in secret for years, Mickey officially comes out in a music video for a song on Neotheater (the song is Get Up by Shinedown, because I fucking love that song.) The coming out song is a remix of an older piano song Mickey made.
Colin plays drums, Mickey plays bass and piano, and Iggy plays electric and hits the high notes. Mickey writes their lyrics, mostly!
Mandy has a reputation for being a slut and making filthy club music, but she wants to actually be known for her singing.
Tami raps. No one believes it when they look at her, but she makes some of the sickest female rap songs and pays so much respect to those who came before her. Her and Mandy are friends, and once Lip and Mandy call off their on again off again thing Mandy is very happy for them despite what the paps think
The internet finds out about Terry after burn it down is announced but not out yet, they accuse the band and Mandy of being Nazis and shit, so they put out a cover of tomorrow belongs to me from cabaret? It's not their usual fare, but they put it out anyway, all wearing makeup that makes them look bruised and clearly pissed off. It's controversial and powerful and I love them.
Oh, and Mickey and Iggy will full on stop shows if they see fighting in their mosh pits. You don't come to a Viches show and ignore pit ettiquite.
Hey ALICIA 💗 how are you doing? Sorry it took me a while, I have be fortunate enough to have many AUs coming my way lately and I had to give this my full attention.
Frank and Monica were part of this famous 80s band with Tommy and Kermit, their kids are like Hollywood royalty. -> Oh my god what an amazing start! I never saw this coming lol
Mickey, Colin and Iggy have a band called Viches -> I am screaminggg. this is incredible. Colin plays drums, Mickey plays bass and piano, and Iggy plays electric and hits the high notes. Mickey writes their lyrics, mostly! -> I love it! Mickey has such base player vibes. Wait who is the singer? Is Mandy a part of it all? Okay, I read further now, Mandy has her own thing (I write my response as I read lol) So you're saying Mickey is the lead singer, right? I can kinds see more writing the songs / lyrics and letting someone else sing, but this is just my headcanon. I don't see him as the front man, I like him as the Nick Jonas, if you will.
Welcome To The Black Parade is such a perfect fit.
Ian and Mickey date in secret for years -> I didn't know if we were going fake relations or secret relationship, but I like it! We don't see enough of those! (Maybe because it's literally canon but still, it's an awesome trope!) Do they both want it to be in secret? Is Ian out before Mickey comes out?
I have to admit I didn't know Get Up until now. It's definitely less angsty, which makes sense since Mickey has processed a lot of his trauma and being with Ian made him write lighter songs in a way.
Tami raps. -> HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Alicia your brain is incredible. I can feel the Iggy azalea vibes.
Tomorrow belongs to me... interesting choice... The composer, John Kander, was Jewish and openly gay. But the song has been adopted quite a bit by extremist organizations, racist bands, and neo-Nazi politicians . Like this song has actually been covered by white supremacist bands. So I don't know if that's the way I'd go with it. (Not to get too serious but I'm Jewish and I'd probably take it the wrong way if I saw a band doing that)
Maybe Rage Against The Machine's Take The Power Back Or All You Fascists (possible an acoustic version for a change of pace?) would work better, what do you think?
Anyways I want to hear more about Ian and Mickey's relationship before they came out! How long did they hide their relationship for? What pushed Mickey to want to come out at that timing? I love the world you built in this AU! Does Ian stick to modeling or will he gravitate towards acting or something else? Does he go on tour with Viches? I'm very excited about this AU
