1. How many fics do you have on AO3?

Twenty-six! Which I think is a bunch when not compared to insane people who right, say, a hundred twenty fics. Cough Mercy.

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

179,826, though I will add since I got my start in fic writing quests on Sufficient Velocity, there's another 113.2K that's not on AO3.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

My tastes are as fickle as the wind. I am a wandering ronin writing whatever I feel like. I theoretically write RWBY but also haven't updated a RWBY fic since January. I thought I was done with Madoka fics but then I heard news about the movie and had no choice but to write Heartless. I've written 3 A Practical Guide To Evil fics over 5 years. Who fuckin knows with me?

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Breaking and Entering Your Heart (Madoka Magica) is, somehow, my most kudo'd fic of all time. I have no idea why. I don't think it's particularly good (not helped by the fact that I was like 16 when I wrote it). It's not even my favourite Madoka fic I wrote as a teenager!

Doka Don't You Know (Madoka Magica) is my favourite Madoka fic I wrote as a teenager. It's still kind of embarrassing for me to read back, but I do think I did good with it. The real embarrassing part is that it was inspired by me getting emotional listening to the Ninja Sex Party song of a similar name.

Drabble Roulette (Steven Universe) is sort of cheating, as it was a drabble collection I did with several friends, but nevertheless it's one of the most kudo'd fics I've worked on. We all did a short fic every week based on the same one-word prompt, and God we kicked ass.

I can almost hear the Hounds (RWBY) is definitely the one I'm most proud of. What if Ruby got turned into a Hound before V1? Well everyone would be sad, for one. It also holds the distinction of being the first time anyone's ever done a "Cast of [show] reacts!" thing to a fic I've read. Talk about an ego boost!

And my fifth-most kudo'd fic is... Actions, Consequences, and the Tragic Lack Thereof (Worm)? The edgy oneshot I did where a very well-adjusted Taylor uses Coil's power to blow off steam? Huh. Not either of my RWBY oneshots? Well I suppose I can't complain.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Not really. I try, but as I've said before responding to comments is my dump stat. I really do love everyone's comments, I'm sooo insanely bad at responding sdgsd

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

It depends on what qualifies as an angsty ending; most of my angsty fics have happy endings, with Heartless being the only one I've written to really contradict that. Blood, Blood, Gallons of the Stuff and Sometimes the only way out is as a carcass have the worst endings insofar as horrible fates, but I wouldn't really call them angst.

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably Trim and nothing else? It depends on how you define it, but I'd say that one.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not really, thankfully. I straight up can't remember anything of the sort lmao

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Boy, do I! Of the smut I've published, I'd say it's pretty varied? Some het, some gays, some ships and an OC or two... I've got the variety, baby.

10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one you've ever written?

Not really? I find they're usually more daydream material than hunker-down-and-write material, though sometimes I have no choice. I have a chapter or two of the most self-indulgent APGTE/RWBY crossover that I doubt I'd ever put out there on account of it having a target audience of exactly one. Craziest would probably be the Madoka Magica/Magical Girl Noir Quest crossover I wrote as a teenager. It's harder to get more self-indulgent than fanfiction of a fanfiction crossing it over with the source material sdgds

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I sort of vaguely remember this happening? I remember someone posting a really poorly written edgy SU fic that had the exact same premise as my slightly better written edgy SU fic and only updated after mine did.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not that I know of, though if anyone wants to please feel free.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Not really? The Drabble roulette is the closest I've come, and that was a bunch of individual shorties. Besides, I can't imagine I'd have a great time trying to fit my writing process with someone else (and I definitely don't think they'd have a good time trying to adjust to me lmao)

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

God that's tough. I'm not sure I can give a definitive answer here. I might have to say Madohomu or Midlink just because of how deeply they've altered my brain chemistry

15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Brother that is most of what I've written. I really want to get Tomorrow I'll be perfect and You waxen wing, you foolish thing done at some point, though I'm not sure I'm will. The Most Insane Girls On Remnant is a work so in progress that only one person knows it even exists, and if I could magic myself into fully writing one it would probably be that one.

16. What are your writing strengths?

If I could write an entire book of nothing but snarky narrators I would be a new york times bestseller by now. They are my bread and butter. Comedy in general, I guess, but that specifically.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Action scenes. Action scenes action scenes action scenes. It's not so much that I think I'm bad at them, more that they're just so hard for me. I could write a thousand words of most anything else before I write five hundred words of an action scene.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I don't super mind it when reading, but I can't imagine writing it. Maybe a word or two, but still.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I wrote down Madoka Magica at first, but now I'm realizing it was actually Warrior Cats, all the way back when I was a wee little child. I'm not sure if I deleted them or just changed ff.net accounts at some point, but I don't know where they are and I'm happy that way.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

I mean it's gotta be I can almost hear the Hounds. There's a lot of other things like (Aw Drat, Tomorrow I'll be Perfect, etc) but this one hold a special place in my heart. There's a reason I have chapter on pinned in my blog.

Hiya, Romaine! Oh, yes! I think it'll be fun to mix up for fic and art, so I'll run with that. 8. Is there a story idea in your mental vault that you’ve never been brave enough to try writing? Is this the year? Can you tell us about it? I've answered this for one fic idea here, but I am more than happy to go into another idea from my filing cabinet of chaos. So...I think about a decade ago, I used to run a multi-media community for a Drarry series (inspired by the Shoebox project, WTF Drarry, etc.). Back in the LJ days, I had about 200+ followers who tuned in for 8th year shenanigans, and lord how many letters and fics I even wrote for that. There were lots of letters between a lot of people, and the ficlets together made up about 12k. Obviously, RL gets busy, I had to put it on indefinite hiatus and yeah. It’s still up for archival reasons. The writing does make me cringe now, but the concept is still intriguing and a fun one. I’d love to doing something more on a smaller scale for that. Maybe for a bunch of different HP characters so they each have a short story. I do have an outline already to see if I can work this out for Perciver. I haven’t gotten too far into this yet, but there’s sooo much potential. Since my writing style has changed, I think it’s doable but it’s more on the how. And making sure I can reign it in before it gets big (writer problems, of course). Multi-media is definitely a huge commitment though, especially when it comes to letters, now that we have screen readers. So there would definitely need to be some alt text or AO3 skins/coding needed for this. Since I’m already writing a Teen Wolf fic that uses the latter, that’s going to be my test run to see how multi-media goes for me! If we’re talking about art stuff...goshhhh, if I had time to make more comics I would. For any ship. Comics are soooo hard though and since my style has matured, it definitely takes more time to complete. Besides last year’s Career Fair Drarry piece, my last comic was a spicy Perciver one for Kinkfest in 2020 (I did this while sick and buying a house at the same time lol, insane, yes). So yeah, when an idea and the timing lines up, maybe that’s when I’ll poke at making more comics again. The key is being invested and having enough uninterrupted time to draw up all the panels! Easier said than done, I know. 23. Would you like to go on a writing retreat? HELL YES. 100000%. Meeting folks and talking with them about fic and writing in the past has been so cool. I’d love to see more of this workshoppy/discussion vibe and learn how others write and apply some of that to my own writing, for sure. Even sprinting together or whatnot could be really fun. I’ve talked about this option with a few friends, and maybeeee for 2023, that could be a thing. Even if it’s a small get-together where we just work on writing stuff. Though, I might have to longhand it since there’s no way I can bring my big ass desktop PC with me, and I kind of hate writing on tablets. I do most of the time but sometimes not for months, which I feel really bad about lol. I want to reply to everyone because I want them to know how much I appreciate them even taking the time to say something regardless of coherence. I think Mortal Instants was one I fell really behind on replying too mostly because 99% of the comments came in like all in the same day when Nipuni recommended it on her blog lmao

Mortal Instants. No question.

I think technically Tangible & Undefined has the happiest “ending” if you mean ending of the work itself. It’s bittersweet obviously but pretty damn happy.

Nah, never written a crossover before, but sometimes the errant AU crossover headcanon will rear its ugly head.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

No, thank god. Not that I know of. This is one of my greatest fears I am too soft for that shit.

Yeah quite a bit of it, almost all of it for the same couple. I don’t know how to describe what “kind” it is, exactly--it’s emotional, full of sensory imagery and fun banter. It’s always full of love.

What a depressingly phrased question. I’m sure I have a lot I don’t INTEND to ever finish, which is fine, we all need those. One that I might like to finish someday but realistically won’t is the Werlyt fix-it-fic, purely because I’m not really interested in returning to something I wrote out of anger. I’d rather just move on from that and maybe use some of the ideas for another story in the future.

What are your writing strengths?

FEELINGS?? idk ...Emotional, physical and their intersection. People connecting. I think I write pretty good romance overall. Sometimes I have a line of dialogue that is absolute fire.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Description of setting, oh my god. It’s so hard for me and I sooo admire people who do it well. I will paint you a beautiful picture of people and their feelings/interactions including every nuance of the conversation but please don’t ask me to describe the room they’re in.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Frankly it annoys me as a reader, I’m lazy. I’m also not a fan of the way most people write dialect or accents. When used sparingly and carefully it’s fantastic but it’s so often completely overdone and distracting. Just describe their manner of talking instead and I’ll be much more interested.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Legend of Zelda! Though it was only for me, I wasn’t really participating in “fandom” at the time and didn’t plan to post it anywhere.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

This is so hard to answer. It honestly might be Mortal Instants because of how much of a risk I took and how greatly it paid off. I really pushed my limits and did something brand new and it’s excellent, honestly. As a standalone piece of writing it’s absolutely one of my strongest.

Pairing: MC x Choi twins (just cheek smooches, no twincest involved!)

It was the twin’s birthday. MC knew that Saeyoung was very fond of the day, now that he finally got to spend it again with his brother. Saeran felt a bit different, though. She knew, he had grown to like it, but he did not like the fuss, that was made over him. While living with the Choi brothers MC had gotten to know every single detail about them. She knew everything, from small to bigger habits. The girl was sure, that the two did not even know, that they had shown her so much about themselves. MC sighed thinking about how far her two precious tomato heads had come. Yes, Saeran had finally grown out his hair and Saeyoung still got emotional over it sometimes which earned him a huff from his brother.

The twins knew that MC had planned a big birthday party for them. She had informed them beforehand, because she did not want to overwhelm Saeran with a surprise party. He appreciated the thought and MC still believed that she had seen a glimpse of excitement shimmer in the shyer twin’s eyes. The day of the party had finally come, and MC woke up her two favourite boys with a delicious breakfast. They were both buzzing with excitement for the day ahead – even Saeran. Although he was not as vocal as Saeyoung about it, MC could still see it.

“I am terribly sorry, but I have to throw you out now”, MC said. The twins looked shocked. “B-b-but MC! It is our birthday! Why would you throw us out today!” Saeyoung cried out.

MC giggled: “Well, I have to set up the party decorations. I do not want you two to see them right away. A little surprise effect after all would not be too bad, wouldn’t it?” She squeezed Saeran’s hand, hoping her request was alright with him.

“Yes, you are right”, the younger twin agreed and nodded. MC smiled at him happily.

After the conversation, the boys got dressed and ready to head out for a bit. Saeyoung had declared that one of his babies was desperate for an outing. So, he grabbed the car keys with one and Saeran’s arm with the other hand and marched towards the garage.

“Have fun you two! See you in an hour. And don’t eat too much ice cream, I promise there will be enough here today”, the last sentence was directed to Saeran as MC knew, that Saeyoung would take him out to get a sweet treat for sure. MC gave both twins a peck on the cheek, making them blush and then waved them off. She watched the car pull out of the bunker’s garage. Once the gate was closed MC began working on the decorations. She surely was getting more nervous now, had she planned one more surprise for the twins, which they did not know about. Humming to herself the prepared everything and then got dressed herself. A quick look at the time told her that the guests would arrive soon. She really hoped that all the hard work would pay off.

The front gate announced someone, and MC quickly opened the door for all the others. All of Saeyoung’s and Saeran’s friends had come – the whole RFA. She led them to the living room where everything was set up.

“Are you nervous?” Jaehee asked.

“Yes, yes I am.” Zen stepped towards the girls of the RFA. “Oh MC, you really don’t have to be. We practised a lot, and you did great every time. I am sure they will love it!”

“Thank you, Zen. I really hope so.” MC smiled.

“Oh, I think they are coming!” Yoosung announced once they could hear the loud engine of one of Saeyoung’s sports cars.

“MC, I think we all agree, that they will really like your present”, Jumin spoke up. “Be yourself and have fun.” Everyone nodded in agreement.

“Wise words, trust fund kid”, Zen whispered.

Saeyoung and Saeran were speechless once they stepped in. The bunker was decorated with balloons, garlands and pictures from them and their friends that had been taken over the last year. MC had printed them all out. There were ones from just her and the twins at the bunker or group pictures of the whole RFA. One pictured that got cooed over the most was the one where the twins had fallen asleep on the couch together after playing LOLOL all night, much to Saeran’s dismay. MC was really proud of herself four capturing this moment.

After opening presents and eating cake, ice cream and even ice cream cake, MC stood up.

“Saeyoung, Saeran, I want to give you my present now.”

“But MC, you already prepared all of this for us!” Saeran blurred out. MC smiled softly. He had grown so much, no longer being afraid of speaking up. Although he surely must have been quite hyper after consuming so much sugar, helping his remaining shyness fade away quickly. Saeyoung just nodded wildly in agreement. He was too occupied looking at the visitor passed that Jumin had gifted the two to come and see Elisabeth the 3rd. Under his supervision of course.

MC made the twins sit on the couch, “Saeran, Jaehee will put blindfolds on you two now. It will only be for five minutes, I promise. Is that alright, love?” He nodded and MC gave him a bright smile. She just wanted to make sure that he felt safe. The younger twin still grabbed his brother’s hand, once they were blindfolded. They both wondered what was going on. Suddenly the blindfolds were taken off again. The lights in the bunker were all turned off, but the twins knew, that the other RFA members were sitting beside them.

Suddenly the heard a piano playing and one of the light spots that Saeyoung had installed in the living room turned on. It only lit one area in the room. There, MC was stand with a guitar and behind her Zen was sitting with a keyboard.

MC started to sing. The twin’s eyes grew wide as they heard her voice.

The lights in the bunker turned on again. Yoosung cried horribly while Jaehee patted his back, but she also sniffed and blew her nose. Even Jumin wiped away some tears and hoped nobody had seen. Zen smiled happily behind the keyboard, but you could still see that he had also cried.

“Happy Birthday, you two”, MC said smiling wildly. “Saeyoung, Saeran, I hope you know how loved you both are from each person who is here today.”

The twins could not stop crying and MC wiped their tears away again.

“I love you two with all of my heart, please never change. You are both perfect as you are.”

She hugged the twins and they grabbed on her for life.

“Thank you, MC”, Saeyoung sniffed.

“Thank you so much for everything”, Saeran hiccupped.

“We love you, too! So much!” suddenly both spoke up. MC smiled softly. “I know.”

Once everyone had calmed down a bit there was more cake to eat.

“MC?” Saeran asked.

“What is it, love?”

“Can you maybe sing again for us later?” he said while munching on a big peace pf chocolate cake.

“Of course, I can!”

“Oh, and MC?” Saeyoung turned excitedly towards her. “Can we sing with you next time?”

MC laughed: “Sure, honey, I’d love that.”

Saeyoung cheered and Saeran looked away but MC could still sense that he did not dislike the idea.

“Come on you two let’s sing your song!” MC grabbed the hands of the brothers. “Zen, would you help me out again?”

The actor agreed happily and started playing. MC looked at her boys who both looked like they were glowing with happiness and she could feel the love she had for them, once she started to sing again. Their sparkling eyes were everything she needed.

Okay well most of my fics are not finished, so... I guess by default that means A King’s Sacrifice wins because... yeah, it’s tragic. A close second is Who We Are Alone but that ends on a much more hopeful note tbh.

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

I do but I don’t usually post them, they’re just side projects for my own amusement. I did a FF7 / OCs crossover hogwarts au once, and a crossover between my and Cal’s original sff world and Disney’s Mulan, complete with song lyrics. That was fun xD

Nope! I shouldn’t be surprised if it happens eventually but so far I’ve been lucky.

I have never actually written it in long form like, actual narration, only in chat RPs. Usually either really ridiculous stuff that doesn’t take itself too seriously, or something really sweet and emotional and/or awkward in an endearing way lol. I am a softy.

In general, it has to be Clack aka Zakkura from FF7. They are my OTP hands down when it comes to romantic. But fav qpp is Cody and Rex.

I will finish And So It Goes!! Some day!!! I’m sorry!!!!! Lol so I guess that being said my legit answer would be like... War and the Soul. It woudl be nice to finish it someday cuz the idea behind it was fun, but I don’t really have the motivation to and don’t see myself going back to it.

Dialogue, describing settings and sensations, poetic narration and actual poetry.

I like it when it’s done convincingly and doesn’t take the reader out of the story too much. Language is fun!

45. What is your all time favourite fanfic?

Ahhhhhh, this's the hard one, I love a LOT of fics and I don't really have "fav of all time" because everytime I re-read fic I got a new perspective... I think right now my fav was The Better Things by @leni-ba , she's an awesome writer that I read her fic and I love every words, I love her writing style and TBH I could just pic one of her OUAT fic up and said "this is my favorite fic", it would be absolutely true.

It's not true love.

I didn't actually write fic(try something and it's still have no process, sooo...) but I love fic on Ao3, it the easiest way to read and to went back and reread fic. Tumblr is great too because it's easy to share(press reblog) but lately this website seem to do opposite everything user want, so, nope,you're not the best, buddy. A Year in Review for ship-ambrosia - Fanfiction Writers 2018

So I saw a blog I’m a huge fan of do this sort of year reflection of fanfiction writing, and since this was the first year I’ve ever posted my fanfictions, I thought it’d be fun to do!

First off I wanna thank @sweetmemories2606 @allie-and-her-fandoms and @a-fairy-tail44 for constantly encouraging me, being there to bounce ideas off of, also basically being beta readers for me and my hype men... you guys rock. I’m so glad I met all of you.

- “Completed” is kind of relative isn’t it? Lol... I have 13 stories posted on AO3, 4 that are on tumblr only, and of those 17 three of them, Heavens Bringer, A Fool Like Him, and Inherit Thunder (previously Heir of Electricity) are unfinished. Three of them are a collection of one-shots from Gruvia, Jerza, and Nalu week, but they’re all so short I’m going to count them as all together.

- There is so much unposted stuff in my backlog that you wouldn’t even believe lol most of it is unfinished though

looking back, did you expect to write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected?

- Let me just say that posting the first two fanfictions, Inherit Thunder (BNHA, kamijirou) and Liberation (RWBY, Blacksun), were totally on a whim. My roommate encouraged me to do it and see what kind of feedback I got on them. Boy am I glad I did. So let me tell you my motivation and progress has been absolutely astounding to me.

what’s your own favorite story of the year?

- This is so hard, because I’ve been in love with all the stories as I posted each of them, like oh yeah this is it this is my best one. Every time lol. I’d have to say though it’s probably The Droplet (FT, Gruvia). Reading my first gruvia fanfiction Four Degrees, and then going to The Droplet, you can really see not only how well my writing has improved, but also how much better I’ve done in understanding Gray and Juvia. Also I happen to find the beginning of it still really sexy lol that was difficult for me, writing a scene that was sexy that was going to be posted for the world to see.

did you take any writing risks this year?

- I think the style that I wrote A Sound Like Thunder (BNHA, iidamei) and Beauty and the Crow (P5, Akeharu) was a different style than um used to, with the story being told in chunks that didn’t quite fit together perfectly but still built off one another. Basically they could have been multi chapter fics but I wrote them like a short story and both of those stories I had to have read over a thousand times because I wanted them to be perfect.

do you have any fanfic or profit goals for the new year?

- One, to finish Heavens Bringer which I think is very plausible since I’ve been working on the last chapter a lot lately. Another is just to get more consistent with finishing and posting works, because right now it’s just like, here from me every so often and going like a month or two without posting any sort of writing. Maybe even to write less ship-focused works. I love ships but I don’t think all my writing has to be only romantic

best story of the year?

- Certainly one of my Fairy Tail fanfictions, though I’m not sure which. Heavens Bringer definitely has the most effort put in, but both The Droplet and A Fool Like Him (Ft, stingyu) have such in-depth, emotional breakdowns of Gray and Sting respectively and how I see them viewing their primary love interest that I think both of those stories have a fascinating draw. Also, I’m extremely proud of my Nalu Angst week prompts, I go back and re read them all the time. I think some of my best work resides in that collection, most notably the story titled “Miles Apart, Two Inches Away” from when Natsu and Lucy reunite after the post-Tartaros timeskip.

most popular story of the year?

- That’s easily Everything was the Same (Except when it wasn’t), my first Nalu story. On AO3 it has 755 Hits and 72 kudos, the most for both of all my stories. Which I find so funny because I wrote that story in under an hour lol.

story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:

- Heavens Bringer, by far. I like to think it’s amazing, and my friends seem to love it, but it’s gotten very little recognition. I’d love for more people to read it, and it has all the big four ships and I’ve devoted soo much time to it. But the feedback I HAVE gotten has been absolutely wonderful!

most fun story to write:

Beauty and the Crow, A Sound Like Thunder, or Nalu Angst Week. I hurt so much while writing all three, but I loved it. Beauty and the Crow because Akechi and Haru’s relationship would be just as tragic as I’ve written it, A Sound Like Thunder because iidamei is normally such a goofy ship and I literally almost killed Iida and made Mei Hatsume cry, and Nalu Angst Week because well... painful feels. But I enjoyed the dark places that my writing went.

story with the single sexiest moment:

Haven’t written (read: published) a ton of sexy scenes. I think The Droplet wins for the part where Gray almost pulls off Juvia’s underwear with his teeth, only to be interrupted by their baby.

most sweet story:

- Nuclear Fusion. No angst, it’s straight up injecting Nalu parenting fluff into your bloodstream lol

“holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you!” story:

- Nothing yet?? Maybe hurting Iida and Mei in A Sound Like Thunder. I need to write a goofy fic with the two of them, honestly.

story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:

- I’m going to say Inherit Thunder. I used to think of Kaminari as just a total goofball. Coming up with the idea of his parents as villains gave so many deep possibilities to why Kaminari wants to be the “trendy” popular boy or where he could come from, what his motivation for being a hero could be. I could be totally right, or totally off. But it definitely made me so much more intrigued by what Horikoshi could have planned for him.

most unintentionally telling story:

- When you read Heavens Bringer you see exactly what kind of Fairy Tail fan I am. Lol

hardest story to write:

- Heavens Bringer! Lol. Also worked on Beauty and the Crow for a long time, because I couldn’t decide what direction I exactly wanted to take Haru and Akechi - did I want to follow the plot? Did I want to make Haru and Akechi fall in love, or make it a series of moments? Did I want lots of dialogue, or did I want it to be more narrated? It was a lot of stylistic choices that went into that one but I’m totally happy with how it turned out!

biggest disappointment:

- I worked on a Baccana story for sooo long and then I ended up deleting it because it was turning into very cliche, Gildarts-doesn’t-approve-so-he-challenges-Bacchus-to-a-fight and I didn’t want to write a fic that had already been done 30 times (not that Gildarts and Bacchus fighting because Bacchus likes Cana isn’t great... it’s just that most people who like that ship have already written that).

biggest surprise:

- Uhh, Inherit Thunder being as popular as it was received? I’ve gotten dozens of messages asking for a sequel and it’s really an incredible feeling to know people want more of a story. It was originally gonna just be a one-shot, but now I’m writing a second chapter that will probably come out after Heavens Bringer is done.

some stuff in the works for the new year:

- Obviously, Heavens Bringer part 5 and chapter 2 of Inherit Thunder

- Working on several more chapters to A Fool Like Him, it’s basically just all suffering for Sting lol

- A multi chapter Baccana fic AU-ish in which Cana joins Quatro Cerberus during the Tartaros timeskip after Fairy Tail is disbanded

- Multi chapter Gruvia and Gale fic about Juvia disappearing after leaving to search for answers to her origin, leaving Gray and Gajeel desperate to find her

- Stingyu Cinderella/Princess and the Pauper AU

- A Yang x Ilia piece (FINALLY! LOL)

- May eventually clean up and post an experimental fic where I practiced writing combat with Sun and Neptune vs Mercury

- Ryuji x Ann getting together post-canon

- Future Ryuji x Ann single dad Ryuji AU

- Haru x Akechi Military/sort of Fullmetal Alchemist AU?? Idk it was inspired by fanart

- Maybe post some of my Voltron/Fire Emblem stuff eventually? Idk about those

1. Favorite fic title, and why?

It’s got to be my current one Karma’s A Fake Orgasm and Its my favourite because 1. I find it hilarious 2. The series is now called Revenge Is Best Served Horny because I once again find myself hilarious, and 3. really the whole naming process of the fic was just really funny. I couldn’t think of a name so we were throwing around so stupid names and then when I tried to think of a serious one nothing could top Fake Orgasm so here we are. Stucky, Banter and my mates, this title is a product of everything I love

2. Least favorite fic title, and why?

Urm I dont know if I have a least favourite title as such as ones I don’t care about as much, which is a few of my shorter fics or just the ones I’m not as attatched to

3. Song names or lyrics as a title in any fic?  

Yesss, If We Were Honest was inspired by Honest by The Chainsmokers as the song was playing when I was plotting out the fic and heard these lyrics:

4. Fics with literary references as a title?

Waheyy same answer as above really, If We Were Honest is a blend of Honest by the Chainsmokers and a book called If We Were Villians that I read just before I wrote this fic and really enjoyed, and so yes, the title is quite clearly a smushing together of the two things (i would rec this book if you enjoy dramatics and a Secret History)

5. Have you let someone else (a beta, a friend) name a fic for you?

Yesss, I cannot count the amount of times I’ve appeared in @aibidil‘s DMs like HELP ME WITH THIS TITLE so I’m 99% sure she’s basically named at least one of my fics for me

6. A fic that had a very different working title as a WIP?

Yeeeppp, Highly (in)Compatible had the working title of Fuck Fate which while fitting of the plot didn’t quite work for a title so I managed to come up with something better

7. Do you use all lowercase letters in any fic titles? Uppercase?

I use Uppercase, i tend to captialise them correctly rather than aesthetically cause im boring like that

8. How did you choose the title of your very first fic?

Once again I’m ignoring my old old fics that have either been deleted from the internet or I pretend don’t exist, which means we’re starting with Lost Children which I actually named pretty easily, like the plot of that fic just came to me at once and the title came with it. Its set straight after the war and during that summer and its called Lost Children because thats what its about, its Harry, Hermione, Ron, Draco, Pansy, Ginny etc etc. trying to figure out what they’re supposed to do with their lives and who they’re supposed to be now the war is over, and realising that maybe its okay not to know everything

9. Do you think your method of naming fic has changed over time?

Yes I used to cry at the computer screen and now I scream. Urm no not really, i just kinda have a few ideas and discuss them with people and play around with words until i’m happy – which i think I’ve always done

10. Can you share the title of a WIP?

The current working title of the Bucky POV part of the Revenge is Best Served Horny is Playing The Long Game which has a dick pun in if you squint – i want something more obviously related to the other two espeically as Bucky is the king of sexual puns in this series so he deserves it – but i also kinda think this title is fitting so idk

11. Do you name your chapters?

No!! i wish i did!! i wanted to for Karma’s A Fake Orgasm but I couldnt think of anything witty so im pretty boring with chapters 

12. Do you find yourself generally naming a fic early or late in the process?

It really depends, like I have some names that I’ve pulled out of my arse while uploading to AO3 and some that have been there since I started the fic. I am nothing if not consistently inconsistent 

13. Have you ever changed the title of a fic after publishing?

Nope, im far too stubborn for that, no takesies backsies on shit titles !!! nah, i just dont hate any of them enough to do that

14. Give us a fic rec for one of your favorite fic titles from another author!

Not Easily Conquered from the Stucky Thirteen Letters series, if there ever comes a day I stop reccing this series presume I’m dead. Like literally. Or an imposter!!!! Anyway, this series is the way I finally managed to drag @synonym-for-life into Stucky (mawhaha) and its just beautiful, honestly some of the most fantastic writing and story telling I’ve read ever and I wish fanfic was more widely accepted purely so I could rec this series to more people. Its angsty and heart breaking, but hopeful too and just truly looks at love and the different things it does to people. No character is perfect and no one is pure evil, every one has their actions and you can understand them, you may not agree with what they did and it make break your heart but you can understand it. Its just a real look at humanity, the good and ugly, and on that note i’m off to read it again !!

(Hiii, sooo…this whole reply is late because I actually typed up ALL OF THIS last night, and then accidentally “x”-ed out of my browser and lost it all, because I am very very stupid. And then was too tired to retype it up before going to sleep. I hope I remember roughly everything, and apologies for that mistake.)

Oh! Haha! Alright then! Thank you! Don’t feel dumb at all for not realizing which AO3 account is mine or for your previous ask(which for others who are curious, said: “1 - 5 for all your fics! Just talk about your favs!”). I was prepared to choose 3 fics (including “Happiness Goes On” since that’s definitely the one I’m most proud of, so I guess that’s closest to a “favorite” right?), and go through the first 5 questions for each, though I won’t lie and say it wouldn’t have taken some time to answer.

13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?

HA! Well, American Pie obviously, for a majority of it. While brainstorming / writing / editing the epilogue? A lotta Billy Joel. ;)

The idea to use American Pie bounced into my brain when it came on the radio at the thrift shop where I volunteer, one of the rare times my own music speaker battery died. Usually a disaster, because our store radio is pretty crappy, but the sound quality wasn’t too bad that day, and I rediscovered how much I love that song and ‘Why isn’t this on my ipod again?’. Listening to the lyrics, I realized how much some of them fit the Guardians in general, and this story specifically, which I have Gamora mentally note in the fic. I was sitting and casually chatting with the manager while also thinking, ‘Google what year this came out when you get home, but I’m sure it’s the 70′s. Peter would know it, and it could be the Zune. I think it could work.’ I’m proud that I was able to reference the song so many times without actually naming it by title, but I assume most readers knew what it was, it’s just that famous. (I also couldn’t resist the light-hearted joke, later when things calmed down, of Gamora saying “This…is the longest song…I have ever heard.” and Peter smiling without even looking at her and giving a cheeky “I know.”)

In terms of using Billy Joel for the epilogue, I’m just a Billy Joel fanatic. The use of him for this story began just from the We Didn’t Start the Fire joke toward Rocket at the bar (I thought it was clever, Peter!), and later on I saw how The Longest Time fit romantically for Starmora, and some of the lyrics matched the healing themes of the overall story, and I thought ‘Maybe they’ve been playing BIlly Joel since that night; maybe that can be the joke.’ Why shouldn’t his Greatest Hits albums (at least) be on the Zune? I struggled a lot over what song should be the final one Gamora comments on before they switch artists to appease the group. I never specify which romantic Billy Joel song Peter and Gamora slow danced to during their “date night” in that six-week summary, but I like to imagine it was Just the Way You Are. In conclusion, I listened to The Longest Time, and the entire An Innocent Man studio album, a lot (as if I needed an excuse).3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

The portion in italics is my favorite line, but I’m including the entire sentence for context purposes: “She would need to grow used to him viewing Yondu as a caring parent who was extraordinarily protective of his boy, and would have hunted down this pervert to whistle a glowing arrow through her skull.”14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?

Ohh geez, wow, that one is tough. I don’t know if it’s accurate to say this story was intended to educate, but just to explore the idea with fictional characters. I have no expertise on the subject, and would never claim such, or talk down to those who do. I didn’t intend to create a PSA. I suppose all of the “lessons” for Peter (if they can be called that) I hope all readers already know and agree on (basically a collection of “it wasn’t your fault” and “this doesn’t define you” and “trauma isn’t a competition, someone else suffering worse doesn’t invalidate your experience” and “you should feel comfortable talking about anything without judgement or shame” etc.).

Slightly lesser scale messages, there’s also reminders about the importance of communication, trusting each other, letting the other person speak in an argument, not letting one’s jealousy/instincts/bad mood interfere with fairness, not running away from a fight or staying angry, respecting boundaries and privacy, all that healthy relationship jazz that these two are still figuring out. 1: What inspired you to write the fic this way?

This post is already very long, and I could probably talk for hours about the decision-making process for many scenes (of my GotG fics, this took the longest to write and publish, over 2 months), so I’ll try to condense this to a few bullet points that probably don’t fit the “inspired” criteria.

- It was originally going to be in two parts, 4 scenes each, when I thought the epilogue would be much shorter. But as the lil’ wrap-up got longer (because we needed a fluffy conclusion, dammit!), I decided to make it a separate “chapter.”

- I think the concept probably started as one of those strange, angsty “what if?” scenarios I make up in my head at night that I still can’t believe I created into a full-fledged work. I liked the idea of Peter and Gamora having this conversation and her comforting him, but I knew if I was really going to throw it out there for other fans, it had be more balanced with happier moments, too. I just know I was always going to make the offender a woman - both because it would lead to the misunderstanding that she was a past consensual hook-up when Peter was an adult to spark some irritation and jealousy in Gamora, and because it’s realistically different from other sexual assault stories, since women can be pedophiles and child predators too, and they’re just as horrible. :(

- The fanfic idea of “Gamora accidentally starts a fire while trying to cook, and Peter falsely accuses and lashes out at Rocket” was in my head before, but there were two key differences. 1) It was the entire plot, not a light-hearted subplot in the shadows of something bigger, 2) Meredith’s letter was either fully or partially burnt as a result of the fire. By the end Gamora was going to confess it was her fault, that she was trying to surprise Peter by cooking spaghetti, and he would apologize both to her and to Rocket for losing his temper and getting so angry. I hated that idea later and found it too sad (he’s already lost the Walkman and second cassette tape, why would I want him to lose even more from his mother?), and in “Spark My Memory” (the Christmas fic I wrote for “12 Days of Starmora”) the Guardians put his mother’s letter in the photo album gift for Peter, completely safe and unharmed. I like to keep all my fanfics canon-compliant and non-contradictory from each other, so the letter is fine, no burning it.

Yet “Gamora started a fire cooking” still seemed fun to me, as I like the idea that she’s so badass and skilled and intelligent, but failed at something so domestic and simple. Kinda cute. I was so excited to insert it into this, because I think it worked on multiple levels. It’s a driving force for the plot (the reason the team go to the restaurant and they stumble upon that particular waitress), the reason Gamora was already in a bad mood during her fight with Peter, it could be used as a metaphor/comparison for Peter’s anxiety and Gamora’s guilt, it was something for the Guardians to put at a higher priority to tease and mock Gamora for while oblivious to the main story, something for Peter to just break down into giggles over once they changed the subject (because he earned a good laugh after that heartbreaking and vulnerable childhood trauma story), an excuse to give Rocket so many funny lines, an overall silly and sitcommy-style subplot to fall back on, and a sweet “victory!” for Gamora to have (sort of?) conquered by the epilogue. ^_^2: What scene did you first put down?

This is easy. I’ve written all but one (8 out of 9) of my fanfics in order, except for “Just Like Everybody Else.” So ya, I wrote the opening scene first, Baby Groot’s magic trick lesson and Peter’s oh-so-cruel “can only be seen once” deception. I needed to ease readers (and myself) into the angst and heavy shit to follow, and that cute idea had also been in the back of my mind for a while. ^_^

I found the original questions on AFF a while back, and I thought since I’ve been tagged in so many meme things lately, I’d also tag a bunch more people in this one XD Since the questions were designed for AFF, I’ve reworked some of them to fit for AO3 writers. I also removed two questions rather than trying to translate them to AO3 terms.  So, I’ll fill out my answers first, and then put the blank questions again at the bottom for you to easily copy and paste! 

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?

'Her dust is very pretty' is the last part of a Dorothy Parker poem called Epitaph for a Darling Lady. Dorothy Parker is the only poet I’ve ever liked. I usually detest poetry and find it stupid and annoying. But I like most of hers. I used this as my first tumblr URL too. It’s just kind of my name now. I’ve been using it since 2010. 

2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)

Subs is Chemicals with 177, bookmarks is Neko at 116, hits is Chemicals at  18600, and kudos is Chemicals again with 694. Stats are weird. 

3. What is your AO3 profile icon and why did you choose it? 

It’s ahegao Kuroko lmaaaaooooo. I chose it cause I love slutty Kuroko. 

4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?

Quite a few actually. Maybe too many to list even... I’d say High_Noon and Goldfasan are the ones I recognise or see the most?

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

I don’t actually read that much fanfiction? Which might be odd for someone who writes a lot of fanfiction. Idk I tend to find a few really good ones and then reread them for eternity and never look for anything new. Though tbh I haven’t read fanfiction for a number of months now. I’ve been too busy, or too stressed (and definitely too autistic). 

6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked? Subbed to 7 fics (most of which are really old and will never be updated, or are friends’ stories). I have 231 bookmarks. Apparently. I have no idea what they all are, because only 30 of them are my OTP, and I only started bookmarking last year, and again, I don’t read much. I think AO3 is lying to me. Likely, as it lists my subs as 67, but I counted them and there’s only 7 in there plus 2 author subs. Conspiracies. 

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?

I define AU as ‘completely unrelated to the main plot’ so, if the KnB characters were in fuedal Japan. I use UA (universe alteration) to define things such as if a KnB story followed the general main plot (basketball) but had changes to it, such as omegaverse (though I don’t consider ships UAs). With that said, tbh I don’t think I have one? I write a whole range of stuff. I don’t think I lean towards any particular AU or UA. 

8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

Honestly I don’t think I’m ashamed of anything by this point. I’m probably one of the most non-judgemental and open-minded people you’ll meet, so I kinda have no shame with that. Like, I won’t judge other people for having weird interests, and therefore don’t feel any shame for my own because I see no reason to have a problem with it. If people don’t like my writing they don’t have to read it. No one’s forcing them to. 

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc. 

I’m mostly okay at replying to comments, sometimes I won’t reply if I don’t know how to respond or I’m busy/tired. Unless I feel like there’s no reason to further reply to a comment, I’ll usually try to reply later (sometimes months....). I need to get better at putting description in instead of just rushing through something and shoving it at the internet saying “I’M SICK OF IT JUST TAKE IT HOW IT IS”. Ideally it would be nice to update more frequently and consistently but that’s something that will never change due to my mental and physical health sooo. Whatevs. 

11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?

tbh I think it’s arguable if even the more popular ships I write are even that popular. The most popular ship I write is Akakuro I guess? I do write a bunch of rarer pairs (Mayumibu hghghghgh also Aoaka yes) occasionally though.

12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?

87. Which I feel like is a lot considering I did about 50 of those in one year. 

13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?

39 in Google Docs. Possibly. I’m half asleep and may have missed some. I have a crap tonne more in MS Word, but I don’t want to count them all. Oh, fyi, these are only for my current fandom. I have other stories in Docs and Word that are original or other fandoms. 

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

Write everything down. Either in a document or just in the notes on my phone. 

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

No, but I’d like to. It sounds interesting. 

16. How did you discover AO3?

An uh, ex-something found it in 2013 and showed it to me. I liked it more than FF.net, which always gave me a headache with it’s shitty UI and layout, and Livejournal, which was either dead or didn’t exist for my fandoms back then. Does anyone still even use those 2 sites as their main story platform?

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?

Not at all. I might say I am possibly known or recognised, but I definitely do not think famous or popular at all. Far from it. 

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

Does anyone? I’m not published yet lmao and neither am I a Korean idol so uhhh, no, my readers do not have a nickname or fandom. 

19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

I would say no. No one prompted me to start writing when I was little, I just did it cause I liked it. Even when I started writing seriously, and when I started writing fanfiction, it was all me. I guess there have been writers who have inspired me to get better though? Namely Mikssi and goseum-dochi. 

20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

I was once told that if you can't think of anything to write just put SOMETHING on the page. Be it a date or a title or an idea. Just get something on the page. I now start every story by dating when exactly I started it (yes even the exact time). It's less intimidating that way. Writing down my ideas also helps me plan. 

21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

I often have a general idea or at least ideas for future chapters. But mostly I just bullshit my way through it lmao. It often backfires. 

22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

The only negative comment I've gotten on a story that really upset me was once being called insensitive when referring to sexual abuse. It really offended me because. Um. You... do not know my past experiences. At all. And I'm not going to bring them up because of that. But wow. And it bothered me too that they called me insensitive when I was just writing from experience. Like ok. Sure. Cool. I mean I could see where they were coming from, but I’m going to take a guess and say they had never experienced what I was writing about.  I’ve gotten a couple of other negative comments, but they didn’t upset or ‘get to me’ so much as just piss me off due to the stupidity of them. 

23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)

Action. 

24. What story(s) are you working on now?

Uhhh, I guess mostly right now I’m working on Nano, and one other story. I have unfinished and ongoing things, but they’re on the back burner right now. 

25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

To a really problematic degree. 

26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

Definitely not. Way too much pressure. Do not need. 

27. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?

My god, yes. From my early original (shite) stories of 2007-2009, to my really early (also shite) fandom fics in 2011-2012, to my explosion in the VIXX fandom (at least 80% shite), to now... My goodness. I’m actually in the half-hearted process of editing old AO3 fics to be easier on the eyes. Mostly that’s relatively minor changes. If I went back to AFF. Hoo. I’m highkey scared of looking at some of those again. 

28. What is your favorite story that you've written?

I guess I’d say Chemicals. It’s a story I always wanted to do, and I’m happy with how it turned out. I also have to make mention to NMT, since that thing was my life for like 2 years, and writing it helped a lot. I also am quite fond of what I refer to as my ‘cat vampire story’ aka this. I also don’t mind my story Wanderlust. I think I put more effort into that one than I do with most things I write. 

29. What is your least favorite story that you've written?

MMMMM I can think of it and I don’t want to acknowledge its existence at all. IT NEVER HAPPENED AND IT WAS A MISTAKE. Also NMT. 

30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

Probably not published yet but goddamn will I try (not very hard though)

31. What is the easiest thing about writing?

For me it's writing dialogue. Chat room/text message based dialogue is especially fun.

32. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Starting and ending the story (or, if it’s a chaptered story, ending the chapter). Also liking your own work. And not comparing yourself to others. And holding onto the hope that maybe one day you’ll actually be successful and you should keep going.

do u have fav writers in yoi then? not one fanfic you like, but some writers who you keep coming back to or look forward to more stuff from? trying to find some good consistent writers

@lacycandy - AO3: the madness started with them. The most frustrating work in YOI fandom for me. While it has the most intense gentleman Victor I fell hard for, their characters are very realistic and oh god, Yuuri - he is SO Japanese it makes me physically hurting. It works so well. You ache and strive for them to get a single caress or a glance. A kiss is like a golden medal. Its worth the torture. Great aus and imaginative storytelling.

@captain-erwinmerica - AO3: their work is always having strong, independent characters, who clash with a bang once they meet. I find enjoying their getting to know each other, like walking on hot glass plate…bare feet. Attention dripping, tension laden and very passionate. Darker approach on aus, imagine passionate maddening love, this is what you’ll look for. Well written action scenes and inner psychology. If I could describe them with two words: intense observer.

@borntomake - AO3: writing for canon while adding their own touch, you feel great love and respect for the characters. Owning the story and characters while not twisting them. Feels very natural - realistic, exciting, but not oppressive

fishydip at AO3: unique aus, kind victor, canon divergence - very soothing and positive style

@flammablehat - AO3: - very realistic and saturated style, very explicit to the point of being raw, yet not vulgar - even if vulgarity is used. They make anything feel natural and shed you of feeling guilty or abandon your reservation? No matter the length of the work or rating. Insightful views and I love that the characters show deep care for each other.

@ingthing - AO3: romantic slice of life style of work, physical is less important, but doesnt make it any less invested for the reader? Id say its like watching romantic movies with Jenifer Lopez? In a good way?

@grassepi - AO3: very charming and cute style, the go to if you want to feel good, they inspired me to work on my own Hanahaki au

LilianRoses at AO3: creative style in fantasy department, adorable character representation

@phyona - AO3: intense sexy timez, very emotional and rewarding slow burn, makes you feel very invested for the characters

@feels-like-fire - AO3: exquisite story building, masterful work on planning out gradation, very good fantasy aus. Great work on psychological mechanism of the characters.

@little-lost-star-1 - AO3: one of the most unique author in fandom and very underrated, quite frankly I found them through one work, which I’d avoid from miles and yet was convinced to persevere. I am the most (un)happy Yakov fangirl ever. I cry myself to sleep every night I shall never have that glorious man. And hes not even focus of their writing. Imagine how Victor and Yuuri are like. If dogs would read their fiction, they would lust after Makkachin and want his puppies. I am a slave to this person, I draw fanarts for each new chapter (within the same day…help)

@lemonyoi - AO3: creative style with lots of sensual in focus, Id say its a good way to start exploring the diversity of sexy timez in fics, if you’re worried you wont like it or handling it. I appreciate the trust they have in each other and live a healthy intense relationship - with ever present love. And I don’t understand how the author does not get repetitive with each new chapter. It stays electric and laden with tension.

@lucycamui - AO3: there is noone around in the fandom like them, Id say they are raunchy cute. While their writing is cute and funny, the characters are natural and sometimes hit way to hard to my homebase. And surprisingly they can write angst. Very skilled with psychology of the characters, witty dialogs, smart exchanges and playful plots. A joyful ride. T

@dreamaginarium - AO3: too humble writer for their own good and Id say they belong to the same tribe like Lucy above. Their style is very natural and kind towards the character. The kindness and situation will bring you to tears and sore throat from laughter. You’ll beg for more.

@phaytesworld - AO3: incredibly giving and interactive writer, she is like hydrating watermelon, but squeezes the lemon, aka the crap life gives you, making the sweetest lemonade! Gift which keeps on giving. I tried many pairs and things with her stuff, it’s big trust I put into her and there is practically no comfort zone I have to guard. Lots of fics and sooo little confidence. 

@qwertzu824 - AO3: my IRL friend who fries me as my beta so that I can taste at least as a half believable grilled cheese. She is great fun to read, imaginative and it’s just joy to follow her fics. She is fun too! Made me read an yoi oc-fic too! 

In general if you see me drawing a fanart to something, bank on that I am recommending it.

And I am sad because this ask limits me to people with several fictions. So I had to skip one fic people and people from which I did not read more than one work….
