I'm happy to hear from you and I'm sorry for worrying you! Admittedly, things have definitely taken a turn for the worst, and they're probably not going to get better for a while... BUT I am getting professional help soon, hopefully. I'll definitely make a post about it when all is set up, because I'm probably going to be forced to go on a little break to concentrate on the help I'm getting, but until then I'll finish off the requests I have right now.

All of you guys supporting and loving my work helps me a lot more than you can imagine, too. It means the world to me that someone out there appreciates my work, even if it's sometimes not the best due to my health. It really makes even the worst days feel better.

Also, regarding the Kinich angst that I'm currently in the process of writing... well, you should be scared. I won't spoil much... but happy endings are overrated. :))

Don't have my sketchbook w/ me, but i wanted to get the general look for my Warden (from @the-keeper-of-midnight ) and his family. Top two are his parents, bottom left is his older sister, Michelle (? I think? I can't remember her name), and then my warden, Theo (he's supposed to have blue/green heterochromia, but i couldn't find a picrew that had that option,,,,,)

Idk if there's a set family name (or if the parents already have names) but i'm going with Toussaint for now. Theo's parents are still in Port-au-Prince; Mama Toussaint is a university professor (haven't decided for which subject yet) and Papa Toussaint works from home as a consultant (again haven't decided what for yet, maybe tech)/was stay-at-home dad. Both were v supportive when Theo came out as a trans man.

Michelle and Theo are afro-carribean/white (papa is from Germany). I also can't remember if Michelle is married or a single mom, so I won't think of a spouse for her just yet. I was originally gonna have Theo romance K, but then, well... it's v hard to resist Mack lmao. I'll make another warden for K. Someday. When Mack and Theo move in together they get a maine coon cat named Death Metal Pete.

A couple of headcanons:

Theo wears one of Mack's hoodies on days when he has to go out but doesn't want to wear a binder. And wears them as PJs. Basically laundry day isn't the only day he likes to steal Mack's hoodies lmao

They both bond over their love of Elton John's music. Theo likes to play some music and cuddle up with Mack (mark my words, Theo will make this man into a cuddler before this series is over lol). Deeper into the relationship Theo will (lovingly) tease Mack by calling him sugar bear (can u guess which elton john song?) whenever Mack is being too grumpy.

Death Metal Pete likes to perch on/drape herself across Mack's shoulders. What can i say except she likes to feel tall?

Techincally Mack and Theo have their own bedrooms, but ended up just sharing Mack's room barely two weeks after moving into their apartment (Theo was too tired to go back to his room one night after a couple of very rigorous rounds 👀)

Idk if it'll ever happen, but Mack with stubble? Would absolutely make Theo weak 😩 (well,,, weaker than he already is for Mack lmao. simp 4 simp relationship.)

I know it's not an option in game, but Theo's favorite food is Chile Rellano (on his first visit his sister took him to a mexican restaurant and he's been in love with this dish ever since)

okay but you know how we always make janus be the bad guy in most disney aus? well, i was thinking of a princess and the frog au (as i am watching it while completing schoolwork) and heres my character choices and why.

Roman as Princess Charlotte

I chose roman to be charlotte because of the way these two characters act. roman is the "dreamy, fantasy guy" and while supportive of his friends, he is also majorly attached to the idea of romance. charlotte is the same way. she's deadset on finding her prince charming, but makes sure to put her best friend - tiana - above everything else.

Remus as Prince Naveen

i chose remus to be this self centered prince for that exact reason. while remus doesn't exactly show signs of self centered-ness, he does act out in ways that turn the attention on him. this is what naveen does in quite a bit of the movie. not only that, but remus has a musical talent and he'd likely fall victim to the manipulation of the shadow man if convinced he'd be rich with people that loved him.

Logan as Shadow Man / Dr Facilier

now i know what you're thinking - "mj! why would you make logan be the bad guy? wouldn't janus be the better choice?" well, i say to you that that is the point of this post. logan and shadow man have very few similarities, or none at all really. however logan would work as shadow man because dr facilier does act on logic through the movie. dark logic that is seen as manipulation, but logic nonetheless. logan would be great at studying the dark arts and using that for his own benefit.

Virgil as Tiana

another choice that most people likely wouldn't agree with. however, virgil isnt just anxiety or thomas' fight or flight instincts. anxiety can also act as motivation and adrenaline to acheieve something. afterall, roman wouldn't have created half of what he did without virgil being around. virgil is also a hard worker and thus would make a good example of how hard work can bring good things.

Janus as Mama Odie

bet you didn't see that coming! yep, janus would be mama odie. she does voodoo and magic, but for the benefit of others. we see that she tries to help naveen and tiana see what they truly need in the world (though they are dense about it). janus isn't just deceit. he's also self preservation. he has proven that a bit of selfishness is good for you. what better way for him to be self preservant than to be the most respected voodoo queen in the bayou?

Patton as Louis

again, seems to not make sense, right? however, it does. louis is a very great friend that just wants to help despite being a scary looking aligator. he offers to go with them and help them on their journey to becoming human, even if it is risky for him. patton is much like that; he would do whatever it takes to help his friends even if it meant risking his life.

Thomas as Ray

eh.. not exactly the brightest idea in the crayon box, but it does work. thomas is a very musical man, as well as family and friend oriented. he works better when he's working with people he cares about. that's how ray is as well.

Orange as Lawrence

oh? so you thought i wouldn't add 07734 to this list? well, you'd be wrong to assume that. orange would be lawrence because while they're both techincally "side characters", they are much more relevant to the story than we truly give them credit for. orange has made a major impact on the ts sides series to the point i will confidentally say he'd willingly work with logan to bring chaos into this world.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

It’s easiest to write in a way that indicates they’re speaking another language but I sometimes use google translate. There’s a fic I read where the writer wrote a ton of dialogue in Russian with no translation given because they wanted the reader to have the same experience as the non-Russian speaking characters. That was fantastic. And is the reason my google translate keeps defaulting to Russian.

Harry Potter.

Seven Numbers. I wrote it entirely for myself and it has an inconsistant tone and I thought would appeal to one person (me) but people actually liked it.

Ducktales Reviews: How Santa Stole Christmas! or Scrooge is kind of a dick

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everybody! Christmas begins on this blog with the last new Ducktales of the season! Time to break out some eggnog, presents and warmth of good family, i’ve got a bushel of Christmas reviews planned for the season, and this one is just the start of htem. As you can probably tell by my enthusasim I love this holiday. Oh sure it has it’s bad sides, paticuarlly several jackasses making huge deals out of the fact some people say happy holidays because “there’s a war on christmas” when really their just petty morons who can’t accept theirs more than one holiday in the month and not everyone likes christmas. I do, but I know not everyone does, and that’s fine. But overall it’s a fine holiday with warmth, cheer, family, generosity and of course, what brings us here today, really damn good episodes and specials of television. It’s just a really warm and cheerful time that , whlie it can bring out the absolute worst in people.. can also bring out the best more often than not. And that’s why I love this holiday. If you don’t that’s just fine, but it’s my blog, I can love what I want. And I love this holiday.. and I loved this episode, a good end to a great run of episodes. So let’s rock around the Christmas tree and find out why Scrooge hates santa, this is How Santa Claus Stole Christmas!

We open with the classic night before Christmas poem.. only naturally since Della is reading it to the boys, it’s Scrooge’s version involving barbed wire and calling the man a traitor because what honestly did you expect. Though I find it ironic a man introduced in a Christmas story has a one-sided blood feud with Santa. The boys are annoyed with this and just want free presents and the presecne of a jolly fat man and don’t get why Scrooge hates him. And yeah.. all of that tracks. They were raised by Donald who, while he clearly spent several years at Scrooges tolerating this feud, likely figured the Feud was just some personal gripe of scrooges and that Santa had done nothing that terrible. Which given Scrooge isn’t personable on the best of days and the episode goes out of it’s way to point out Scrooge has no friends, is entirely accurate and Donald was, as always the sane one in this situation. Plus he was already mad at Scrooge, this was just another way to tell him to go fuck himself. 

The boys hear what they think is Santa on the roof but turns out to be Scrooge, in full Scottish war garb manning traps with webby.. in full chimney camo... putting a knife to Dewey’s throat for siding with santa.. well okay pointing at his throat but still god damn. Every now in then i’m reminded how ready Webby is to murder someone. It never gets easier or less disturbing. The boys.. continue to make a good point: Scrooge says he’s the richest duck in the world and can provide them whatever.. but being Scrooge just gives them itchy hats made of cheap fabric, and bemoans them wanting a trampoline, a new electronic game, and a new phone. And while Scrooge can give them whatever he wants, it’s his money, he also could’ve put some actual thought into it and clearly views the holiday more as a transaction and less for hte acutal sentmient. Instead of giving them personal mementos, or making them personal mementos, or even just simply building them a sled or something, a simpler toy than what they want but still something nice that comes from the heart.. he just gave them the cheapest hat he could find and tries to guilt them for not liking his thoughtless present he probably bought in bulk for everyone in the manor and his employ because he’s kind of a dick sometimes. IT’s good storytelling though as it sets up that Scrooge.. can possibly be int he wrong, so when the main plot comes to his front door, quite literally, there’s some doubt as to wither he or santa is in the wrong. Speaking of which Santa is at the door. So cue the credits and cue the cut for the rest of the plot as is usual. Full spoilers, and full plot under the cut. Ho ho ho. 

First a quick comment on the Holiday version of the theme, the same one from Last Christmas! IT’s really good, a really nice frank sinatra style verison of the theme. Good stuff. My only real complaint is like last time.. there’s nothing unique about it, it’s just the normal season 3 intro but with snowflakes. And that’s.. more on Disney than the creators. If Frank and Matt had the option they would likely do an entirely original intro.. it’s just Disney can be cheap when it comes to intros, see how possesed ludo stayed in the star vs intro long after that plot point was resolved, and only affords one a season. That being said they still have one up on most networks, who, with the exception of Netfix with she ra, never really let intros change more than once, if at all. I mean I get it, budgets are higher here than with anime, they can’t do a new song and intro every half a season.. BUUUT it wouldn’t kill more stuidos to do this more often and do a complete intro overhaul, as it adds freshness, and you can still use the same old theme, just over a new set of pretty images. Most just allow a few swap outs, Disney included, and while I get intros are expensive, this is something you can use for a whole season, or more, why are you like this? 

Anyways one theme song and me complaning about an animation trend I don’t like later, we’re inside the Manor with none of the other adults present because this season hates me. I do actually get it this go round: Besides Della, Donald and Launchpad getting a full subplot in the other holiday episode, they aren’t really needed. In fact most of the episode’s present day is a framing device for the tale of how Scrooge and Santa met and why Scrooge hates him, so for once the minmal use of the supporting cast.. is actually done well. The focus is on Scrooge and Santa, a feud that’s had four years build up in real time, and two years in series and a bunch of months. So yeah, i’m okay with sidelining everyone for once, because this story really needed all of the space and there was no real place for them aside from the climax. This is Scrooge and Santa’s story, with Webby there as an impartial-ish observer. We’ll get to that in a moment.  Also if your curious where in the fuck this episode fits on the series massively warped time scale.. i’m going with this and “The Trickining!” taking place before season 3, since “Astro Boyd” takes place in march, and “Forbidden Fountain” takes place in probably late april, huge thanks to a friend on discord for help with the timeline. Otherwise it just makes no sense whatsover and while it dosen’t TECHINCALLY need to, I prefer the series timeline at least making some rational sense. The world dosen’t have to but time still does. So the boys are at least 12, possibly turning 13. Congrats. Or maybe they just don’t age. I dunno. 

Now time and plot concerns aside, Santa gladly gives the boys their gifts which is.. everything they listed: A mini tramp for Dewey, Legends of Legend-Quest 2 for Huey, and another phone for Louie, which Scrooge dosen’t get. But Louie gets it on 2 levels: One, the one he asked for is probably a nicer model and as someone who just got a very marginally nicer model on insurance, I get it, even if like Scrooge i’m fine as long as mine works, it’s still nice to have more space to do shit. And two, he plans to sell the old one and keep the money. So yeah the boys already loved Santa but now they have every reason to since, you know, Santa actually gave them what they asked for and Scrooge gave them itchy hats because he’s cheap not because he put the slighest thought into it. And no i’m ont letting him get away with that: Again, off list, perfectly fine. Right behind me on my sprawl of book shelves is Weird Al’s biography, a really fun, really intresting book with photos on his career. I did not ask for it, but my mom rightly knew I would love it and got it for me for my birthday, which is very close to christmas, the 16th if you were curious, anyway, and I’ve treasured it since.. and really need to re-read it. My point is you CAN get someone something they didn’t ask for and still have it be something they LIKE. I did that for most of my christmas gifts this year. Scrooge just, as I went on about above, didn’t give a shit and was a bit callous about it so yeah, Santa wins this round.  But Santa naturally needs Scrooge’s help to save Christmas because his ankle’s sprained and he’s out of options. Scrooge.. naturally refuses because, as i’ve made clear this and past episodes, he can be kind of a dick and Santa is one of his worst enemies in his mind. Why help him? So Santa, reluctantly, offers Scrooge the one thing you can get for the man who has everything: An agreement to leave his house alone. The boys aren’t happy about it, but Scrooge reluctantly agrees to the deal. They prepare to mount up though the boys aren’t invited, as Scrooge thinks their too far in the Santa camp and Scrooge does not trust him. Which again is both accurate and fair on their parts as again, he gave them things with well meaning and love, he gave them hats he fished out of the dollar store clearance bin. I mean at least go for the dvd’s and blu rays man. Yeesh. Santa does lightly buy them off by offering them another present if their good boys. Though honestly given Santa in this universe, he probably was going to anyway and this is his nice way of getting them to stay behind to make Scrooge happy. 

So as they take off, while Webby is wary of Santa, she is curious what happened, especially since earlier Scrooge actually did finally voice his gripe, if without any full length explination: Santa took Christmas From him. And Della might know that, Scrooge likely didn’t tell her or Donald the full story and Donald rightly didn’t buy it was that one sided. And it isn’t as we’ll see. Since the episodes divided up into two storylines, i’m once again splitting the difference. This time though I would like to mention the story is beautifully woven in, with both complementing each other: there’s some legit suspense as we wonder if Santa did something really that bad or if he’s lying to webby, or if Scrooge being Scrooge was just exaggerating or holding onto a grudge that was partly his fault. It’s genuinely well done to build up the story and helps really flesh Santa out as a character in both stories. i’m only not doing that because my short term memory, while good enough to hold the story for now can be spotty, and this is a lot less taxing on it. Also parts of this segment happen before the boys leave, but it’s easier this way. Sooooo... 

Times Past: Santa’s Worst Christmas Some time ago... seriously I don’t know. Scrooge was born in the 1800′s and Christmas well existed by then, to the point there’s actually a story starring young scrooge published over seas. Granted the Duck’s are no stranger to christmas, as I already covered Christmas on Bear Mountain for Scrooge’s birthday, and will be covering “A Christmas for Shacktown’ sometime this December. It’s just something worth noting. But given this universe can do whatever it wants, having it invited sometime in the early 1900′s or late 1800s is fine just fine. 

Scrooge is a coal salesman, selling people what they need but getting no shelter as he’s, again, an ass. But in the depths he finds Santa, whose having trouble puling his sleigh, and gets them in the previously closed door with kindess and saying he’s with me. We now get an idea of who Santa truly is: a kind, selfless soul who thinks nothing of himself, and is happy to offer a gift in exchange for something, but does so only in the most well meaning, warmest way possible. In short this Santa really is.. what Santa is at his best in stories; a kind, generous man who just wants to make people happy. He just gave a gift not because he wanted to bribe his way in, but because he was genuinely hoping for some shelter and wanted to be greatful. It also shows that clearly, even if something did happen.. Santa probably isn’t evil. A twist still could’ve come.. but spoilers.. it dosen’t. Santa is genuinely this kind and self sacrificing and noble. He’s just a good person.. and that would ultimately be the problem but we’ve got a lot of subplot to cover.  So Santa parties with what are clearly going to be his elves, and turn out indeed to be elves at the end when the fire goes out and Scrooge is suddenly in buisness.. and he and Santa make a great team, as Santa talks him up and says he can deliver a whole year’s worth of coal all over the world by Christmas Morning, so Christmas DOES exist here, it’s just Santa didn’t which kind of tracks. Well played. I’ll keep my earlier mistake in there though. Keeps me fresh. But Santa offers to help.. after all what are friends for? And Scrooge says their not friends.. their partners. 

And Santa says why not both. And a friendship is forged. And it makes sense.. while i’ts not as tight as it will be, Santa is a warm generous guy who helped Scrooge multiple times just to be kind: He helped him find shelter to repay his kindness helping him.. then helped him sell his coal, when he didn’t have to and while he upsold him on what he could do, did so not out of malice, but so his friend could sell MORE and with eveyr intention of helping. And this friend is someone he just met, is kind of cranky and rude.. but as we all know is a good person underneath and to Santa.. that’s what he sees.. the kind young man who helped him pull his sleigh when he didn’t have to and was already cold and miserable. And that.. that just warms my heart a lot.  But Scrooge being Scrooge has a mystic artifact that could help: The Feliz Navidiamond, a mystic artifact that can seemingly control time he got off a  spanish sailor needing coal. The two head in but encounter it’s guardians. The Magic reindeer! And that’s part of what I love about this episode: besides really getting christmas, we’ll get to that, it has a creative and intresting Santa origin baked into the show’s mythology that also shows off an intresting part of Scrooge’s past. Santa manages to pacify them with jingle bells and our heroes head inside.  In the cavern they find a Giant Snowman.. because this show is fucking awesome and Santa’s attempt to be nice bacfires but Scrooge’s natural paranoia and gumption pull through. It shows off why they make a good team: Santa’s niceties helped them with the reindeer, and netted them future transportation, while Scrooge’s natural grumpus tendencies help when nice just won’t do it. They work well together: one’s a showman and the other hasn’t learned how yet, one is nice the other naughty. It’s easy to see why they worked so well together.. in both senses. They make it past the Snowman and find that the diamond slows down time running on “christmas time!”.. seriously a great pun and one of many this episode. This show had a chance to go all out on holiday puns this go round and they did not blow it. 

But... sadly... and obviously the good times can’t roll forever and when we next return to the story it’s a year later. McDuck and Klaus coal is a MASSIVE concern, and Scrooge is eager to get started... but Santa.. wants to just give gifts instead. To do something Generous. Buisness just isn’t in him and he just wants to do something kind. It’s.. not a bad goal.. i’ts just not Scrooge. To Scrooge it’s a betryal of all he stands for: foreswearing profit to give something for nothing for seemingly no reason and to a younger even meaner scrooge.. it’s an utter betryal.. and a breaking point. Either his daft presents idea.. or Scrooge. And why yes this episode is dripping with ho yay and why yes this does resemble his painful breakups with goldie. And why yes is glorious.. Imean I wasn’t shipping Scrooge with santa before but now? Hot damn. But yeah the two have come to a parting of ways, and Scrooge bitterly leaves, while the elves reveal themselves. And my heart hurts “The Empire Builder from Callisota” bad so thank you and fuck you show.  It also probably shows why Scrooge has exactly one friend, who also works with him so it’s complicated, in present day: He just dosen’t want to let people in... and now we know WHY. The first genuine friend he made, the first person he let into his heart.. betrayed him. It’s no wonder it took decades for Beakly, then the kids to get into his heart again: the guy’s been betrayed by goldie, in his mind betrayed by santa and as we’ve seen his own dad turned against him eventually. He had no one for so long, he built a wall all around him but the wall was too tall and it blocked out all the birds and the son. But this .. is a really damn good story that fleshes Scrooge out and explains his hardness. In the comics it was Glomgold.. here.. it’s much more personal and cuts much deeper. And I absolutely love it. This story could’ve neatly fit into life and times if it made any sense in Rosa’s timeline, and it would be just perfect there. 

PRESENT DAY: Concentrated Awwww

The present day plot is a lot simplier but still fantsatic: Webby slowly warms up to Santa depsite herself.. despite Scrooge clealry seeing she is.. she sees the man is just.. nice. He gives her a new crossbow, a really nice one she probably didn’t even expect to get given you know, everything and knowing scrooge, and appricates the sentiment and slowly sees the man isn’t some monster, but just a jolly old fat man who wants to give presents. Even Scrooge seemingly warms up a little.  We also get tons of cameos during delivery, as they visit tons of supporting cast.. sadly no Darkwing.. but this one was clearly meant to go anywhere and is clealry set before “Let’s Get Dangerous”, but tons of other great bits: We get the Drake recidence with Boyd getting a present.. and somehow also doofus whose filled his stocking full of.. something. I don’t want to know and you can’t make me ask. You can make me ask why the fuck Doofus gets a present, but it could be filled with bees or maybe Santa truly thinks theirs good in him.. which .. yeah tracks. I mean not their being good in him.. I think dr. loomis said it best.. I mean it was about micheal meyers but.. same diffrence minus the patricide?

I mean points for trying though Santa, you mean well you loveable bear in both senses of the word you. But anyways other cameos include Fenton, alsleep with his armor strewn about, aww, with the gizmo armor set to hit people with fruit cake. Thought that was against the geneva convetion but alright. Scrooge’s been hit with worse. We also get them visiting the boat and giving Donald and Della presents, awww. And of course I saved the cameo I put up top for last as Webby visits her closest friend and her gilfriend and gives both an adorable cheek kiss. Though only Lena reacts.. probably because this isn’t the first time Webby’s snuck into their bedroom at night but probably the first time it hasn’t been accidently creepy because she’s still learning boundaries. Also i did not realized they shared a room. Aww. Also it’s the first time we’ve seen their room, which as you’d image from a sorceress and a magical researcher/bookworm, it’s a massive sprawling library from what we see with a skull with a candle in it, a picture of a house, and a calender. IN short it’s perfect and i’m glad we finally saw their room. 

So yeah things are going well and Webby finally realizes “Shit Scrooge is the bad guy in this scenario” at the end of the story, realizing Santa was just as hurt by the split as Scrooge was and that he had to make the harder choihce for the right reasons. Unfortunately, as i’ve said a lot this review, SCrooge is a dick and only coperated, as he wasn’t using the magical present sack, but his own filled with Coal to teach people about responsiblity. Thankfully, Scrooge realizes he’s been a dick to the globe when he happens upon little Jeniffer, a small pig girl who mistakes him from santa and takes his coal, meant to warm her fires.. and makes it into a doll. And resists his attempts to take “Coalette away”... Scrooge then rants and .. we actually get a good reason for why he’s being such a douche... as a kid he had nothing, and a gift of coal for his fires would’ve been welcmoed. He simply just.. dosen’t get the frivolity. He gets the warmth and joy of the season but not the gift part. And it’s only seeing this small, innocent child, play with a doll, he realizes “A warm heart can keep you going through the coldest nights”. And it’s then he finally realizes why his old friend did what he did.. because as i’ve been saying the real gift.. is in the giving.. of giving someone something that makes their memories glow and their heart warm. Even a lump of coal can do that in the right hands... a toy can get someone through the roughest times and it’s the WARMTH of the gift you remember, not the gift itself. I remember that book I mentioned proudly.. as do I remmeber the copy of the art of the venture brothers right next to me, or the copy of the people’s doonesbury my best friend mike bought me, and so on.. not because of the book itself... but because of the thought and warmth of someone getitng something for you because they care, not for their own reward, but just to make you feel nice this holiday season. That’s the true spirit of christmas.  Naturally realizing the errror of his ways in true christmas story fashion, Scrooge is devistated by his own actions. And Santa is PISSED.. but Scrooge is now regretful.. if also pissed because Santa stormed in there and it turns out this was all a ploy to get his friend back... which destroys Scrooge’s anger as he realizes just how much his old friend missed him and how many years he wasted lashing out at him when , in the end, Santa was right. So with only so much Diamond power left, and time running out, what can they do to right this? Simple, Scrooge suggests splitting resources. 

So we get a glorious shot of the three boys, and the twins riding  the reindeer. Also we get Launchpad! 

Who naturally wonders if he can crash a reindeer while Beakly thankfully stops him from murdering Dasher. So Christmas is saved and Scrooge and Santa exchange gifts: For Scrooge, a set of bells with their old company name.. and for Santa? a garage door opener. While Santa’s confused turns out.. it’s to turn off the traps. He’s welcome any time.. just use the front door. Cue a big hug, and Webby narrating us out as Scrooge wishes everyone a merry christmas once again letting people into his heart.  I have.. the approirate response to that. 

Final Thoughts: Excellent, easily one of the best of the season, the series and possibly of chirstmas show episodes all together, we shall see when I put together my list. And given how utterly excellent Last Christmas already is, it was hard to top.. but they did it. This was a warm, wonderful special that gets to the heart of christmas.. and really why I LIKE santa so much. For all the comercailsim around him.. he’ s a kind generous man who gets kids to belivie in magic for a while, wants nothing in return , with the offering of cookies just there to be nice and thank him for being a good person, and just wants best for people. He’s what’s best about christmas rolled into a person. And the series gets that and makes him the kindest guy around. It ends up being a story abotu Scrooge learning the meaning of christmas, an irony that’s not lost on me, but in a way that’s diffrent and unique from last time and works just as well. It’s just a warm wonderful epsiode with plenty of great gags and adventure and a beautiful, unique story at it’s core that could only be told here with tihs cast and this version of scrooge and that’s what makes it so damn magical. Easily a fantastic note to go out on.  Next time on Ducktales: I don’t know! How does your OC handle being unwell or forced to rest in bed? Who cares for them and in what ways? Does your OC enjoy being doted on or are they a terrible patient? Reversed: is your OC good at taking care of others who are ill or in need?

Awful. Genuinely unbearable. This woman acts like she has to work 24/7 or her bones will turn into sawdust. She will do anything she can to stay out of a bed, her getting any kind of illness aggravates her to no extent and she makes sure everyone around her knows that. I’d say the main people who fuss over her most is, understandably, Cornelius as its his fucking job but probably Florence? and definitely Quill. Even though she’s usually denied entry as not to catch or spread anything Alex might have.

I wouldn’t say she hates being doted on. She’s prideful and it does feel odd to have someone literally take care of her in that sense because no ones done that since her parents but in a weird way she does appreciate it and shes not one to not thank someone looking out for her. She mind drive Cornelius insane with how much she doesn’t do what he asks but she will thank him at the end of the day when she finally agrees to sleep for a bit. 

It’s very much a “thank you, I really appreciate all of this... but also I am getting out of the bed.” 

Being reversed on the other hand. Alexandra cares a lot of for folks, she isn’t the best at knowing what to do if they’re sick but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t try. She’s always been one to do what she can for other people if she has the means to, it’s why she tries to stay so in tune with her crew and actively ask them if there’s anything that can be done to help if something is truly bothering them. And then all of this kinda got turned up to an 11 when Quill came on board because. 

Well. It’s. Quill. Alexandra had honestly never felt the actual fear of someone getting sick until Quill got sick when she was younger and it actually had her kind of frazzled, because this was no longer an adult she could offer support to this was a child that was her responsibility. She is actually a surprisingly good caregiver though, she’s very diligent and focused with making sure someone is recovering well but not as strict as someone like Cornelius. She won’t give someone too much shit for wanting to get up when they’re sick because hey haha handshake emoji.

How would your OC decorate a notebook or journal? What kind of things are written in there? Could you give an example of a nice entry?

Alexandra, for the most part, has a very. Confusing way of writing. She writes pure chicken scratch for one and a lot of her notes can end up sounding utterly confusing. She’s not one to draw unless she REALLY has to because shes not very confident or even really that comfortable with sketching something. Quill’s always been the better visual artist even if her artistic skills aren’t really that great either. 

She’ll often find herself writing things down like ‘Solid Iron. Fire. Moth’s Wing.’ which makes no fucking sense but then she’d explain that something she’s researching will most likely be made out of solid iron, have something to do or be aligned with fire elements and its rumored to cause a supposed affect when Moth’s Wings are used as fuel. But to anyone else its like what the fuck am I reading. 

She actually struggles writing coherently a lot of the time but she had to for her own novels, those honestly ate up so much of her time journeying back from places which was a blessing and a curse because she’d much rather be enjoying being out and about on the deck and enjoying the trip back to land instead of cooped up in her god damn quarters trying to recap shit. 

An example of a more put together entry that you’d find in her novels would be something like: 

‘I believe one of the many things we came across and managed to get our hands on was a Belt of Dwarvenkind. For any readers who might not know what such items are rumored to do let me explain. If you’re not of Dwarven Lineage for starters you can write, read and even speak Dwarvish. (I can confirm, firsthand, that this is very much true. It was one of the first things I ran to check once we got back to my dear ship.) Your vision in the dark improves exceedingly well and according to most sources I could find you handling poisonings or anything that perhaps might have a bit more of a poisonous sting to its arsenal a lot more thoroughly. As much as I’m sure you’re all dying to know my findings on that one I wasn’t exactly in the mood this evening to put that one to the test.

 Though anyone who wears this belt will immediately feel a lot more thoroughly stronger and resilient and I can vouch. There’s also mentions of it being worn makes speaking to Dawrven kind a lot more smoother though that implies that Dwarves aren’t already a wonderful bunch to converse with. Attuning to such an item felt like a no-brainer with all of these wonderful effects but alas three things stood in my way. Belt’s like this don’t exactly suit me, secondly I’d rather give these artifacts the proper home they deserve to be studied in more depth and have at the ready instead of being here with me and I always uphold to that and third... From what little knowledge I could grab, there appears to be a rather common chance for people who don this belt to grow out a full-on beard and... Unfortunately, due to wanting to attempt to attune to the belt and test a few things out I’d rolled rather luckily on such a chance, if you can call it that. So I can confirm firsthand that this side-effect of sorts is entirely true for this belt. Unless something cursed me back in that building to grow a beard. You can never tell’

I’d say an 8 is pretty much there. 7-8 would’ve been my guess. She might try to act big and strong and put on a whole show of it but really... she is just a soft idiot who really wants to rest her head in someones lap and have her hair played with.

If you as the writer could erase one traumatic event from this OC’s life what would it be and why?

Honestly? I’d say her dad passing away, especially in the originally way I saw it. As much as its important to the story beats of Stag’s own story, its something as of late I wouldn’t mind reworking into something else. Though I’m also okay with it staying. 

And Rufus!!! 

What is your OC’s favourite way to relax after a stressful day? Do they have a favourite book to curl up with? A hobby? Or do they have a nice bubble bath and have an early night to bed?

Rufus likes to sit and watch things. An ideal evening for them would be watching some birds try to find things for their nests, watching ants carry things back to help their colony. Watching the way the wind shakes the trees as the sun starts to set. 

If there’s nothing really available to focus on reading is their usual go to. They like to read outside if they can, and just gather their thoughts or cook with their mother. Gardening also comes to mind if they really need something to do with their hands but thats only if they’re utterly frustrated and need something to actually focus that negative energy into.

Part of you wished you’d had but a bigger part of you knows you had to be in Derry with him. It’s the night before you’re getting ready to leave and Bill’s been thinking about proposing long before the trip but after everything you’ve been through in the past few days nothing solidifies the fact that he wants to spend the rest of his life with you. There’s a dinner with all of his friends before you head off in different directions and now that his friends feel like your own Bill thinks that it’s not strange to propose after the dinner with your newfound family around.

Why: Logan has no filter and the two of you often are thinking and speaking the exact same thing which he finds sweet and others find odd. He’s supportive of your academic career always encouraging you and helping with papers and making sure you take breaks. Don’t expect that to always be the case though as he might direct you to seek out Charles when he feels that Professor X mihgt be a better help. Oh and he’s totally going to start giving you band recommendations as well as buying you vinyl because that’s what he listens to primarily.

Marriage Proposal: Although he’s techincally living at the mansion he’s managed to convince Charles to allow him to have a campus somewhere in the state where he can keep the location a secret. On occasion when there’s no threat of a mission or when the school’s on break then the to of you will journey to the cabin to just be alone. It’s here that Logan plans on proposing and while there’s many moments that he wants to just pull the ring out and ask he waits for the day when you both take a walk around the lake not far away from the cabin. It’s solitary and quiet and the one place he can be completely honest about how much he loves you without the fear of ridicule by other people for his being soft. So he gives the little speech that he writes, gets down on one knee with the ring, and hopes beyond all hope that you’ll say yes.

Why: Remus loves that you care enough that you’ll be kind to people who might not deserve it. He wants you to succeed in everything and will encourage you to pursue your PhD, helping you research programs you can attend. Your ambition is something that he wishes that he had because you always seem to know what you want to go after. And he hates crowds as well, preferring to spend solitary time with you.

Marriage Proposal: He asks you a week after graduation with the war looming in the distance. It’s soon he thinks, maybe to soon, but he also knows that it’s right, that there might not be enough time before everything turns on it’s head. You’ve been with him through thick and thin, been with him through everything and know the truth about him being a werewolf. There’s no one he’d rather be with and whatever the world throws at you both he wants to now he’s going to be able to stand by you. The ring is bought and carried with him, afraid he’ll forget where he put it or that you’ll find it if it’s left at home. He’d had a plan, take you to dinner somewhere, walk through Hogsmeade before proposing but instead he asks while the two of you are at home. You’re doing a crossword and he finds that this is it, this is the perfect moment to ask. He just hopes your answer is in the form of ‘yes’.

Sumi returned with the milkshakes, setting them gently on the table in front of the men. 

“So,” She said with a smile. “Come her often?”

Yoongi looked at her and snorted. “Obviously not.”

“Just trying to lighten the mood.” Sumi moved to the next table, starting to collect the remnants of the teen boys’ meals.

“I need you ask you some questions.” Namjoon was saying.

“For what? I got beat up.” Yoongi frowned.

“Who initiated the fight? What was the cause?”

“I told you. He stole my song. It doesn’t matter anyways. He’s long gone.”

“And you, sir? You always dance with that group?”

“Ah, no.” Hoseok rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “I was just sort of, in town? And I saw it was an open call so I thought I’d join in.”

“And what do you do for a living?”

“I’m a vet.” He answered, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a card.

Namjoon look at it and then stuck it in his pocket.

“A vet?” Sumi couldn’t help but cut in. “At a dance off?

“I like to dance.” He shrugged.

“I wasn’t judging.” She hefted the second bin of dirty dishes onto her hip and moved to go behind the counter, when a figure outside the door caught her eye.

“Jungkook!” She exclaimed, dropping the bin quickly and hurrying to open the door. “What happened?”

The young boy held his bleeding nose. “I fell?”

“No, you did not.” She moved him to sit next to Yoongi, ignoring the other injured person’s look of disgust. “Who did this to you?”

Jungkook tilted his head back. “I told the guys they should come back and apologize to you.”

Sumi sighed, understanding how that story would end. “You’re ridiculous. Tilt your head down while I get you a cloth.”

“Who is this?” Namjoon asked.

“Jungkook. My favourite customer.” She threw a wink at the younger boy, who blushed and looked away.

“I just met you today.”

“Well, you’re still my favourite.” She handed him a cloth, patting him on the head. 

“Sumi!” The cook, who was also the owner, screeched from the kitchen.

The smile dropped off Sumi’s face and she hurried to the back, bowing politely when she spotted her boss.

“Is something wrong?” She asked nervously.

The woman shrugged. “I’m closing for today. You need to stay here and wait for the delivery from the bakery.”

Every Thursday, the restaurant received a delivery of donuts and pastries to go with their breakfast special on fridays. But usually the owner was the one to receive it.

“I-”

“They know where to put it. Lock up.” She tossed the keys to Sumi and hurried out the back door.

Sumi sighed and tucked the keys in the pocket of her apron, before heading out to the front again.

“I guess we’re closed.” She announced to the men, who were still waiting. Hoseok seemed to be handing Jungkook napkins in an effort to clean blood off of him.

“We’ll get out of here.” Yoongi went to stand.

Sumi stopped him with a hand on his shoulder. “Don’t worry about it. I have to stick around to wait for a donut delivery. You’re welcome to hang out.”

“You’re really too kind.” Namjoon said with a smile.

Sumi shrugged. “I guess. “Don’t you need to get back to work, Detective?”

He looked at his watch. “It’s my break.”

“Well then.” She smiled. “Don’t let me bother you.”

She returned to wiping counters.

“You have to clean up this whole place by yourself?” Jungkook exclaimed, his voice sounding stuffy due to his nose.

“Boss’s orders.” Sumi nodded.

“And the little pink dress, that boss’s orders too?” Yoongi raised an eyebrow.

Sumi looked down at her uniform. The little pink waitress’s dress had never been a favourite, but she didn’t hate it.

She looked back at Yoongi. “I spit in your milkshake.”

He wrinkled his nose at her.

The door to the diner swung open, the tiny bell jingling.

A young boy entered, who if Sumi were to guess she would assume to be around her age. He was dressed in a pair of old jeans with a flannel, and looked completely lost. 

“We’re closed.” Yoongi said, as if he worked there.

The boy seemed startled. “Ah, sorry.” He turned to leave.

“Wait!” Sumi exclaimed, taking pity on him. “Did you just get into town?”

“This morning.” He nodded. “I’ve been looking for my hotel, but I thought I’d grab a bite to eat. But it’s okay, I can go to-”

“Sit.” Sumi said, leaving no room for question. “I’m sure I can rustle you up something.”

He nervously settled into the booth next to Jungkook, who tried to offer a supportive smile. However, the bloodstains on his shirt weren’t exactly welcoming.

The boy took a deep breath. “I’m Kim Taehyung. It’s nice to meet you all.” 

Sumi looked through the kitchen, finding some fries that were still warm and some chicken. She heated both up, and whipped up another milkshake, returning to the dining area triumphantly.

“Nice to meet you, Taehyung. I’m Sumi.”

“I’m sorry to bother you. If you’re closed and all.” He reached into his pocket and produced some bills from a warm wallet. “For the food.”

Sumi shook her head. “None of these boys are paying, why should you?”

“The real question is why we’re all still in your diner.”

“Because I guess I’m collecting lost boys.” Sumi said with a laugh. “Eat your food, stop the bleeding, drink your milkshakes.”

She returned to cleaning, having almost the entire store tidy before Taehyung had finished his food. The boys fell into comfortable conversation, and Sumi couldn’t help but feel at ease with their presence. She never liked closing up the store alone, so their company was appreciated.

“DELIVERY!” Someone shouted, pounding on the back door.

Sumi left her cloth on the counter and went to the back of the restaurant, opening the back door.

A young boy (wasn’t that the phrase of the day), stood there. His bike was leaning against the wall, and in his arms he held several white boxes that presumably contained baked goods. 

“You’re from the bakery?” She asked, moving aside.

He stepped into the kitchen. “Techincally, I’m from the Busan branch. But yes, I have your delivery.”

“Set it on the counter.” She directed. “I’m Sumi, by the way.”

“Park Jimin.” He held out one, flour covered hand.

With Halo MCC, Death Stranding, & (possibly, but def not confirmed) Horizon:ZD being released on PC later this year, I am curious about how hard it will be to port them given that they were designed/developed around one target platform. Aside from legal, contractual, or other factors that are not publically known, could you elaborate on the techincal challenges of porting fullly exclusive games to other/newer platforms? What kind of technical debt can these types of games incur?

The PC platform is, in different ways, both the easiest and the most challenging platform to target with a port. It’s easy because we already do our development primarily on the PC. Most studios often have some version of the game running on PC to some extent to save time and money - artists, for example, usually only need a tool to simulate the way the game will be rendered on the console and don’t need a full dev or test kit to check it while doing work-in-progress stuff. Because we use PCs so much during development, getting the game to work on a PC isn’t really that difficult. The project is already mostly working for the most part, especially if we’re porting from an Xbox platform to PC.

The difficulty used to come from getting it to work with all of the different hardware profiles and such out there. Once upon a time, the trouble was having to support lots of different kinds of hardware - these video cards have weird behavior, those sound drivers don’t work, and so on. That’s mostly gone away thanks to widespread adoption of DirectX package and the xbox controller driver to standardize inputs and drivers for everybody. There’s still some of that going on, but those cases are usually farther between and caused by strange bugs at the platform level, not at the developer level. Building a game for the PC platform in general is pretty easy just to get it functioning now.

The hard part with PC ports today is getting it to run on min-spec and low-end machines. Today, our development machines tend to be pretty beefy because we need to be able to run debug and less optimized code and tools during the development process. The majority of PC players do not have powerful gaming PCs like that; most of the time more than half of the PC gamers out there are running min-spec machines (especially in large PC markets like Asia). This means that the lion’s share of development cost for a PC port is often things like performance optimization, asset downgrades, and additional options to allow players to turn off certain graphical features for better performance.

Shance friends au were shiro is Chandler and lance is Monica.

Oh my sweet wonderful dear anon, YES!  Yes. Yes. YES!  (also pare with my the character roles are going to get a bit jumbled through like everyone else, and with just slight adjustments to Monica and Chandler)

Lance and Shiro being across the neighbors for years.  But they also knew each other before, because Lance was enemies friends with Keith, Shiro’s “adoptive” brother (there are no signed papers but everyone just knows it to be fact), so they’ve known each other for years.  Lance also totally got scored his grandmother’s apartment (rent controlled and a just a blessing), while Shiro and Keith just happened to score the apartment across the hall.  

And like they are all good friend, everyone has a key…but also what are locks or knocking between them.  Hunk makes breakfast everyone morning, and Keith and Shiro can only cook like three meals each and not mess it up.  Shiro got a boring nine-to-five desk job, and basically survives off sarcasm and caffeine to get by most of the time. (Occasionally a cigarette, but Lance…and everyone else really gets on him about it).  But Shiro’s life is kind of mess, he tries, but like there is no getting out the hole sometimes.  Lance works in restaurants and just trying to find his little niche in the restaurant world.  He’s not a chief, but he words in restaurant management, and event planing, cause people, but he has a way about things.  He is also a mess, but like in a different way, and it’s totally fine.

For a while they never thought of each other as anything other than friends.  Until they got across the sea for Allura’s wedding (which is a mess because Lotor is a real dickface).  But they totally sleep together.  And you know, it was nice. (it was way more than just nice.)  They were on vacation, just like a one time thing…that they did like five times…over seas.  But one one time can’t hurt, Lance still hasn’t techincally unpacked all the way yet, (and Hunk went with Allura on the Honeymoon cause she had it all booked up, why waste it, and he needed a break).  Except on more time turns into a lot more times, and oh secret dating is fun, guess it’s been like four months now.

Hunk is the first on to find out, and they beg him not to tell, while he whined about it because he’s so happy for them.  And by some miracle he manages it, then Allura finds out.  Followed by Pidge (it’s literally the scene where Phoebe finds out, because it is just perfect for Pidge), and lastly Keith, who is both mad and happy about it.  (But the threats totally really come from Veronica when she finds out..because what the hell man!)  And then they start to date more openly, and are just sweethearts and dorks.  They move in together (and honestly Lance it’s not that bad, Hunk is just moving right across the hall), then get engaged, then married, and are just so in love.

The two are a happy married couple that balance each other out so well, and try to be the most helpful and supportive spouses they can be for each other. (Literally some of my favorite scenes from Friends revolve around Chandler and Monica with they are married.)  At one point Shiro quiets his job to follow a dream job that he is good at., and Lance takes a job at a new upcoming place that he basically gets to shape from the ground up.  Then they eventually adopt some kids and move out of the city to raise their family.

Also can I add that Lance as Chandler and Shiro as Monica is beautiful trip to think about too.

My Hero Academia Fics That Are Pure Gold

Here's where I'm gonna be putting all of the My Hero Academia fics that I feel people should see, either because I like them or I find something noteworthy. I'll put a summary of the fic and where to find it, but not the length or anything, since some of these aren't finished. Have y'all seen that post about 'the reluctant hero' Deku? Well, this is the fic about it. Deku struggles with being a hero because he doesn't want to be one in the first place, but his quirk won't allow him to have a peaceful life. Great humor, the story so far is following the original but with a few fun tweaks, and great side characters.

What's better than someone messing with Endeavor? Everyone in existence messing with Endeavor! Basically the class catches onto the fact that Endeavor is terrible and they decide to have a little fun. I'm reading this right now and I'm dying of laughter. Y'all seriously need to read this!

We Don't Need No F***in' Heroes by Scarper_Von_Hyde

Dabi, Toga, and Deku are best buds that ever budded. Dabi running from his family, Toga's life sucks in general, and Deku can't become a hero with no quirk, so they decide to become vigilantes! Amazing humor and story. If you're a fan of Villain!Deku then you would like this, even though Deku's not techincally a villain.

Deku has a quirk, but he'd rather not have it. His quirk came from his father, who was a terrifying villain that killed hundreds. He, along with Bakugo and Eri, needs to find a way to become a hero when everyone sees him as a villain's son. Great story as any Quirk!Deku fics will be and it's always refreshing to see Bakugo being nice to Deku.

The Deaf Hero: Deku by BeyondTheClouds777

As the title says, Deku is Deaf, or he's slowly losing his hearing until it goes away forever. This story follows the original story, but with some tweaks. The humor is amazing and it is worth a read.

Deku doesn't get into the hero program, he instead goes to the support course and becomes friends with Mei. They start working together and creating machines. All the antics you could expect with Mei are here.

A beacon in the dark by NohaIjiachi

Deku is blind, but it's a part of his quirk! Turning blind at age four, he thought he was quirkless until he learned he saw with a radar of colors. Amazing story, one of my favorites that I've ever read, and a lot of blind jokes from Deku's side.

Dis(associate) by BeyondTheClouds777 Deku has a quirk and he has the power to leave his body, but to other people it looks like he drops dead. With great humor, great story, and even a cute dog, you should read this.

Deku is All Might's son and Todoroki thinks it's a brilliant idea to fall in love with him. Great story and also one that hates on Endeavor, so that's a plus.

Aizawa and Present Mic adopt baby Izuku and raise him. Perfect, this fic is perfect with fluff and I love it.

Villian!Deku but he gets captured and UA is trying to turn him into a hero. Deku is amazing in this and he can kick anyones butt.

Yesterday Upon The Stair by PitViperOfDoom

Deku can see dead people, so he helps them move on. He becomes a hero so he can save someone who's alive and so that they're less ghosts around. Ghost antics are always great and this story gets really touching, like with the Stain arc.
