in any other circumstances, you wouldn’t even dare to imagine holding a man you had just met the same day.
but stan … was different.
when your eyes first locked with his from across the counter, you could tell that he was hurting, and badly. he was trying so hard to cover it up, and it worked for the most part — after all, up until now, nobody had cared about him enough to see through his facade.
but you saw straight through him. and not only that, you actually did something about it. you offered to care for his needs, at your own expense.
his father only ever saw him as an expense.
so, there you were, sitting at the bar, holding onto the maroon fabric of his jacket as he trembled like a leaf.
the scent of cigarette smoke and pine needles was strong in your nose as he buried his face into your shoulder. you could feel his stubble scratching against your skin.
there was a part of you that wanted to speak up and comfort him, but ultimately you decided against it. you didn’t quite know enough about him to be able to speak to his situation.
after a few minutes, stan seemed to be calming down. his breathing became even, although he was still clinging onto you tightly.
“i …”
his voice was cracked and raspy.
“i … screwed up. i don’t … know how i’m gonna fix it.”
your brow furrowed as you listened to him.
“y’know, stan … i don’t know what you’re going through. but can you do me one favor?”
“... yeah?”
“look at me.”
slowly, the brunet lifted his head, pulling himself back just enough to be able to look at you. his eyes were red and puffy, but his gaze was sincere.
you looked back at him, determined. “i’m gonna help you out.”
stan didn’t know how to react. he swallowed a lump in his throat, scanning your face as if to check whether you were lying to him or not.
“... you don’t … hafta do that. i brought it on myself—”
“i don’t care.”
his eyes widened.
“if i can keep somebody from a worse fate, then i’ll do it. let me give you a place to stay, even if it’s just for a little while.” you smiled warmly, squeezing his arm for emphasis. “you shouldn’t have to feel like your life means nothing.”
“… you’re an angel.”
those words made you blush. “i–i wouldn’t say that—”
uh-oh, he’s smirking now. chuckling lowly, he let go of you so that he could cross his arms over his chest.
“what, are you tryna tell me you’re not sent from heaven? think about it. you’re saving my biscuits here, toots.” there was serious gratitude in his tone, despite his teasing. at least he seemed to be in a better mood. “i think i’ll hafta call you that more often, yeah? angel.”
you laughed nervously, trying desperately to distract yourself from your red hot face. “really? h–how interesting …”
stan snickered again, gazing at you for a moment longer with fondness dancing in his brown eyes. then, glancing at the wall clock, he realized the time. “damn, it’s midnight. i should probably stop bothering you ‘nd get to bed, huh?”
“huh, it is late … i should sleep, too.”
“then it’s decided. i’ll see ya tomorrow.” he hummed, standing from his seat and stretching out his arms before cracking a soft smile and turning around to walk towards his room.
you were left to watch him leave, your eyes following his footsteps as he made his way back up the staircase.
approximately eight hours later, you awoke to the sunlight gently filtering through your bedside window, causing your eyelids to flutter open.
the events of last night came flooding back into your mind.
i guess i’ll be seeing a whole lot more of him …
sitting up in bed, you yawned, rubbing your face sleepily.
“mm … what time is it …”
the alarm clock on your nightstand read 8:02 am.
shoot, i overslept—oh, wait. it’s my day off.
that little fact was enough to put you in a good mood for the morning. humming happily to yourself, you began to get ready for the day, picking out a comfortable outfit and a few accessories.
descending two flights of stairs, you wandered into the lobby of your inn, greeting a few different patrons and employees with a cheerful wave. it was breakfast rush hour for the kitchen, and you could catch glimpses of your executive chef running to and fro behind the bar.
he seems pretty busy today. maybe i’ll grab a bite to eat somewhere? hmm, but the question is where …
just then, your train of thought was interrupted by the sound of someone calling out your name.
you whipped around to locate the voice’s source, and there was stan, walking towards you at a leisurely pace. a radiant grin broke out on your face.
“stan! hey, good morning! how’d you sleep?”
raising a brow, he chuckled at your energy. “well, good morning, sunshine. i slept like a baby, thanks t’ you.”
“ah, don’t mention it.” you smiled, placing your hands on your hips. “i’m just glad you could sleep.”
the two of you looked at each other for a second.
why did his stare make you feel butterflies in your chest?
probably unimportant ………… right? yeah.
clearing your throat, you averted your gaze before you started to blush again. “so, um … have you had anything to eat yet?”
“nah. i was just about to, though.” to be frank, he had totally forgotten that he had access to breakfast until you just mentioned it.
“sounds goo–”
you paused mid-sentence, remembering something.
“actually … i was planning on eating out for breakfast today. would you wanna join me? since the kitchen is bustling and all …”
oh, wow. did you really just ask him out to breakfast? it didn’t hit you until after you had said it out loud that it could be considered that way. oops. was that weird? were you weird? augh.
stan had half a mind to tease you senseless for how cute that was, but after thinking about it, he decided against it. he wouldn’t wanna ruin his chances at having breakfast with you.
“you kiddin’? i’d love that.” he nodded his head, flattered and amused. “not many people can say they’ve had breakfast with an angel, ya know.”
your ears turned red.
i walked right into that one. darn you and your smooth talking …
“oh, let’s just go already.” embarrassed, you grabbed his wrist, pulling him along towards the front door. stan laughed heartily, allowing himself to be led.
it wasn’t long before you arrived at one of your favorite diners in town, known for their homey atmosphere and good breakfast. walking into the building, you were met with the smell of eggs, bacon, and coffee. the two of you breathed it in simultaneously, sighing.
“reminds me of breakfast as a kid.” stanley mused, thinking of the days when he and ford would poke at each other’s food and giggle. you smiled, watching his expression.
“c’mon, this way.” you beckoned him over towards the table you usually sat at, and a familiar waitress walked over to you as you settled in.
“good morning, loyal patron~ i see you’ve brought a plus one today, yes?”
“uh—yes. don’t go jumping to conclusions, though …”
the waitress grinned innocently. “of course. now, what can i get for you two?”
stan wound up ordering pancakes with bacon and eggs, while you settled on some waffles and a mug of coffee. you could have sworn you saw that waitress giggling to her coworker about something as she went on her way, but you shook your head to yourself in an attempt to ignore it. instead, you directed your attention towards the man sitting across from you.
“so, i’m guessin’ you’re a regular here?” he tilted his head, leaning back against his seat. there was a smirk plastered onto his face that you couldn’t quite decipher.
“you would guess correctly.” you hummed, picking up the salt shaker on the table and fidgeting with it absentmindedly. “have you ever been?”
a rumbling sigh escaped his lips.
“nah … i’m not exactly from around here.”
your gaze was trained on him. so far, he’s kept a laid-back demeanor, not to mention that little smirk that drives you insane—but you couldn’t shake the feeling that there was way more depth to his character than he let on.
“yeah? where’re you from?”
“...”
there was a brief silence. his chocolate brown eyes, warmly lit by the sun, stared into your soul.
“i’m from new jersey.”
your eyebrows shot up. “from jersey? wow … you’re far from home, then.”
“it’s not home anymore.”
you opened your mouth to say something, but closed it again. stan was staring out the window, a frown creasing his face.
“i … sorry. sensitive topic?”
he turned back to you, a faint blush appearing on his face. “uh … well, yeah, i guess … it’s okay.”
“come again?”
“... it’s, uh—i–i’m okay, if it’s you.”
he was a darker shade of red now, scratching awkwardly at his stubble. he felt so … vulnerable. but somehow, he was okay with it.
at that moment, the waitress came back with plates of food. “order up!”
you watched as you were served, salivating as you saw golden waffles covered in butter and syrup smiling up at you. it didn’t take long for the both of you to start digging in.
“... wow.” after the first few bites, stan had stars in his eyes. “it tastes just like ma’s.”
“was your mom a good cook?”
he snorted. “well, she wasn’t exactly a michelin star chef, but she could make some damn good flapjacks. at least, i sure thought so.” putting another forkful of pancake into his mouth, he chewed thoughtfully. you simply propped your head on one hand, watching.
“i always told her she could sell ‘em for a fortune.”
his tone was soft with nostalgia.
“she just laughed. prob’ly cause i was five when i told her that.”
“they must’ve been really something, huh?”
“they were. all my life, i dreamt of selling somethin’ as good as that. i haven’t stopped trying, either.”
he scoffed.
“most of ‘em have been a bust.”
you hummed softly in understanding.
“you’re still trying, though. that’s worth more than any failed effort.”
he looked up from his plate. “... you think so?”
“sure i do.” lifting your mug, you took a sip of coffee. “perseverance is worth a lot.”
stan could barely handle your uplifting words. his heart was squeezing in his chest. covering his flustered face with one hand, he leaned against the table, grumbling.
“... an angel … God sent an angel.”
“what?”
“what? nothing.”
a few hours later, you were walking side by side back to the inn. stan couldn’t help but admire the way the fall breeze tousled your hair, and the gentle smile on his face was speaking his thoughts out loud.
he’d never known that somebody this beautiful could even exist.
maybe ...
maybe he hasn’t hit rock bottom quite yet.

part one, part two
“Fuck my life.”
“What?” Your best friend, Misaki, asked from the stall beside yours.
You sighed, holding your phone in your hand as you walked out and met up with her at the sinks. You hadn’t even needed to use the restroom, you just wanted to check your messages in private.
“This asshole might actually be decent.” You rolled your eyes as you sent a text back.
“Dynamight?!” She smirked, trying to peek over your shoulder, but you were quick to shield your screen from her and exclaim that she’d get water on your dress if she didn’t quit being nosy while washing up.
“Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight.” You corrected with a grin,“But yeah I guess mostly everyone calls him Dynamight for short.”
“The fact that you know his full on dorky hero name tells me all I need, girl.” She said as she reapplied lipgloss in the mirror.
You scoffed,“Uh, if anyone’s down bad, it’s him, look at this text he just sent.”
k (ृ ु*`ω´)ु: Just leave the lame ass party.
k (ृ ु*`ω´)ु: I’ll come get you.
Misaki gasped,“You dirty little slut, you wouldn’t actually leave me here to go see him would you?”
You hid your face with your hair as you contemplated your answer,“...noooo.”
“You hesitated.”
“Okay, maybe I would like to see him tonight...” You relented,“Would you hate my guts?”
“Not if you call me tomorrow to hash out all the details of your dirty little tryst with the number two hero.” She grinned devilishly.
Lucky for you that no one else had walked into the bathroom since the both of you came in here, you didn’t need everyone hearing all the details of your private life.
“Deal.”
You neglected to tell her that you’d already texted him back.
y/n ʚ♡⃛ɞ(ू•ᴗ•ू❁): how soon can you get here
k (ृ ु*`ω´)ु: Already left, be there in ten.
y/n ʚ♡⃛ɞ(ू•ᴗ•ू❁): meet u outside xo
You left once you saw Misaki make it back to the rest of your friends, waving to them and blowing a kiss from the door before heading to the front of the building and grabbing your coat.
You were just about to put it on when a pair of hands ripped the material from your hold and a voice stated,“Let me help you.”
You watched dumbfounded as Katsuki Bakugo held out your jacket for you, he raised his eyebrow at you, holding it closer to your arms and indicating for you to put them through when you just stared,“Don’t have all night, c’mon, baby.”
You couldn’t help roll your eyes as you finally put it on,“Actually, we do have all night.” You turned around and he carefully pulled your hair out from underneath before his palm found your cheek, a soft caress that had you leaning in instinctively. How’s it looking out there?”
“Bunch of paps, I’m sorry, they must’ve already known you were here.” He placed a kiss on your cheek as his official hello to you,“Just say the word and I’ll blast them all to hell.”
You snorted,“Yeah, right, and with it your career.” You rolled your eyes again and took his hand in yours,“C’mon, might as well face the music.”
You walked out together, lights flashing in your faces from the moment you opened the door and the paparazzi realized it was you. They began shouting louder once they realized who was with you, Bakugo took the lead though, using a strong arm to push people away from you and yelling,“Touch her and you die!”
Hot, you thought to yourself as you smirked and allowed him to pull you along. Who needed security when you had the number two hero on your arm?
He brought you around to his car,“Dunce face and ears are gonna kill me tomorrow.”
“Who?” You asked, confused.
“My dumb friends.” He scoffed,“They’re huge fans of you, once they realized I’ve kept you a secret they’re gonna freak out and yell at me.”
You chuckled,“Well my friends know so you can tell yours anything you want… within reason.”
He gave you a smug grin and opened the door for you, holding out his hand for you to get in carefully with the tall heels you were wearing. He went around the car and got in himself, finally allowing himself to indulge in a deep kiss now that you had the privacy.
It wasn’t until the next morning when it all began, Misaki spamming your phone with texts and calls about the news articles and asking you to please avoid social media.
You didn’t, of course, too curious for your own good.
You leaned closer into Katsuki’s warmth as you read through the headlines and saw the photos snapped of the two of you hand in hand, your accounts were worse… people online didn’t bother to hide their displeasure. You were suddenly blind, your taste questionable, and everyone was saying you had terrible judgement.
And yet, you couldn’t help disagree as you felt a kiss on the back of your neck and the grip around your waist become slightly tighter.
This thing you had was good, you knew it.

THE START OF IT ALL — JACK HUGHES
part of the el!hughes au
summary: how jack and y/n (lovie) met, through the grace of quinn
warnings: bad parental guidance, small mention of body insecurities and anxiety. (4k words)
notes: a well overdue fic! i’m so thankful to you guys for being patient with me as i navigate writing in my hectic new reality of college and working full time! <3
Tumblr media
goosebumps trail my exposed skin, the chilling air of the practice rink nipping from my lack of sweater.
the sound of skates scraping against the ice rings in my ears, mingling with the bangs of sticks hitting against pucks and creating an oddly peaceful soundtrack for my meditation.
my feet are killing me.
capezio tights stretch across my legs, making them shimmer in the fluorescent lighting of the rink, and a black leotard hugs my body, neatly pulled together with a pink wrap skirt. ballet flats adorn my feet, my pointe shoes laying idly in my dance bag in the seat beside me as i watch the national development team practice.
it feels like so long ago that i came and watched my first practice; the one fateful day of september seeming light years away now. but in reality it was only a mere couple months ago that a group of us dance girls had decided to walk down the block and watch a practice.
Natalie and Thalia wanted to check out the guys, and me? i just didn’t want to be left out. but then watching one practice turned into watching two, and then three, and before i knew it, it became a regular occurrence. it didn’t matter anymore that the girls lost interest and no longer tagged along, in fact, i enjoyed the time spent alone.
this became my safe haven; no dance partners to critique my fouettés, no parents whispering in my ear that i’m not doing well enough in school or that i’m not practicing my dances enough or that i need to go on a diet because i don’t look as pristine or perfect in my leotard as the other girls do. just me and the sounds of several sixteen year old boys whipping pucks into the net and gliding around the ice.
as the piercing sound of a whistle slices through my peace, i know that afternoon practice has ended, my serene escape over until tomorrow.
as the team shuffles off the ice and back into their locker room, i revel in the silence for a little while, taking the moment to change from my flats to sneakers; the twenty-seven minute trek home will be a lot more terrain than the five minute one from the ballet studio to the rink, and a lot harder on my shoes.
pushing up from my seat, my hand wraps around the strap of my dance bag, slinging it over my shoulder as i slide through the rows of seats. my feet squeak against the cement steps, two at a time until i reach the exit floor.
pushing through the glass doors, i slip out into the crisp November air, ducking my head as i walk past a group of players that stand around their cars after practice, hair damp from post-practice showers. a few more players can be heard slamming the doors of their cars, obviously in much more of a rush to get home than their teammates.
it only takes five minutes of walking for me to become paranoid, a black GMC following behind me with every turn i make. my heart stutters with anxiety, my pace speeding as i attempt to shake the fear that rakes my body.
but as i speed up, so does the car, until finally the drivers window rolls down as they drive at a pace similar to my walking speed. inside is a teenage boy, a familiar face that i know i’ve seen on the ice of the usntdp rink.
“hey, you watch our practices.” it’s a statement, he knows i do, i assume a lot of them know. it’s kind of hard to miss the thirteen year old girl sitting alone in the stands every afternoon.
i stop, turning towards the boy as i nod in response.
“i always see you walking home, do you want a ride?” he asks before his eyes widen, stumbling over words, “wait, i just realized how that sounds— i’m not trying to kidnap you, i swear! you just live a few houses down, i figured i’d save you some time.”
i’m aware that my answer might be stupid and not very well thought out, but in this moment, i truthfully don’t care— the boy seems trustworthy, an odd sense of warmth radiating from him, so i nod again.
“yes, please.”
his head nods in the direction of the passengers side, unlocking the doors as he tells me to hop in; and i do so, slipping into the seat and hastily pulling the seatbelt across my body.
“i’m Quinn,” he introduces, a hand held out in front of me, “i play for the national development team.”
“i know,” i hum out, shaking his hand, “i’m y/n.”
Quinn steps lightly on the gas pedal, continuing the route to our apparently shared street.
“so, why do you come to the practices?” he questions, and though the question itself sounds a little judgy, his tone is soft, “at first i assumed maybe you were a sister, but then i’ve never seen you with any of the guys.”
i watch as the trees pass by in a blur through the window, my hands fidgeting with the strap of my dance bag that sits on the floor between my feet.
“it’s peaceful.” i confess, making him throw me a lopsided smirk mixed in with furrowed brows, “i don’t really get along with any of the girls in my ballet class, and my parents don’t get home from work until dinner time. its nice to just kill some time and listen to the sounds of the skates on the ice and the pucks hitting the net.”
Quinn hums as though he understands me, and for once, it actually feels like someone does. we’ve barely spoken to each other, we’ve only just met, but for once in my life, i feel as though someone isn’t judging me or about to tell me what i could do better.
“i get it.” he shrugs, “so, have you been a hockey fan, or are you just a little oddball and like the sounds?”
a small smile spreads across my lips, a laugh escaping at his joke, and Quinn garners an appearance of pride at making me laugh. his chest puffs out just slightly, his posture straightening and a smirk resting on his lips.
“i am,” i nod, before i realize i should clarify, “a hockey fan. i’m a hockey fan.”
it’s Quinn’s turn to chuckle now, eyes flickering towards me before they settle back on the road ahead, “but i get the feeling you are a little oddball, aren’t you? or at least maybe some other people think so.”
the vibe in the car turns stony, my body tensing.
“yeah,” i drop my eyes to my hands, finding great interest in the dirtied white color of my bag strap, “i prefer to keep to myself, you know? it feels like all everyone tells me is how i can do better. how i can perfect my dances, or how i’m so pretty but i would be so much prettier if i did this or that, or how despite straight A’s and a 4.0 GPA, there’s more i could do to get into a stupid ivy league that i don’t wanna go to-”
i suck in a deep breath, cutting off my rambles prematurely, because here i was dumping all my insecurities and problems on a boy three years my senior and who i’ve only just met.
“i’m sorry, those are some shitty people.” Quinn frowns, a hand tightening just slightly around the steering wheel.
“that was all my parents.”
“fuck,” he curses, glancing over at me quickly with wide eyes as we turn onto our street, “your parents said all that?”
i shrug, nodding my head, “it’s what a parent does, right? they criticize you to be the best you can be. the girls in dance aren’t much better.”
Quinn parks the car in front of what i assume is his billet house, turning in his seat to face me properly.
“a parent should guide you to be the best version of yourself, not criticize you until you become the person they want you to be.”
his words repeat in my head, my brows threading together as i hum in acknowledgment of his statement.
rather than truly respond, i unbuckle my seatbelt, pushing the door open as i gather my bag from the floor.
“thank you for the ride, Quinn. sorry for dumping all my problems on you.”
i don’t give him a chance to respond, hopping out of the car and slinging my bag over my shoulder as i shut the door.
i’m only one house away when i hear him yell, “hey! same time tomorrow?”
i spin around confused, finding him standing next to the car with his hockey bag slung over his own shoulder.
“what?”
“same time tomorrow! i’ll drive you home!” he smiles gently, before giving a small wave and heading into his house.
what the fuck just happened? did i just make a new friend?
***
my entire body aches, my toes in particular feeling incredibly sore due to the bruised skin that covers them, but i push through.
only a week until the spring performance and i still don’t feel that my solo is where it should be. my pointe shoes make my toes prick with pain, but over time, the pain turns into a stinging numbness.
my reflection stares back at me in the mirrored wall, a frustrated puff of air passing through my parted lips. my tutu caresses my arms as i let them fall to my sides, lowering back down to flat feet.
in the mostly empty building, i can hear the ring of the bell above the front entrance followed by muffled conversation approaching the private room i currently occupy.
i walk over to the chair that holds my things, my brows furrowing as i check the time. i still have five minutes until Quinn is due to pick me up. that gives me more than enough time to run through the solo once more.
walking over to the barre, i flex my feet a couple of times. but before i can begin to dance, i’m bombarded by the sound of conversation.
“what are we doing at a dance studio?” a male voice echoes through the building, grumbling in obvious annoyance.
“i told you, i have to pick up a friend.” i recognize that voice immediately; Quinn. my close friend of four months.
“a girlfriend?” i scrunch my nose at the other person’s question, part of me wanting to shout out that i can hear them.
“a girl that’s a friend, yeah. more like a little sister.” a heated blush rises to my cheeks, a smile spreading across my lips.
he thinks of me as a sister.
a knock sounds against the door of the private room before it creaks open, Quinn’s head popping in.
“hey, twinkle toes, you ready to go?” he smiles warmly, his eyes sparking with care as he eyes my outfit, “nice tutu.”
“you’ve seen this one before.” i giggle but it quickly dies off into a sigh as i think about how much work i still need to put into the dance, “give me one sec?”
“yeah, go for it.” he nods, “mind if i come in?”
“come on in.”
closing my eyes, i take a deep breath, tuning out the sounds of Quinn and his company entering the room. breathing out, i enter fifth position.
plié, passé relevé, back down to fifth position, my eyes open as i run through the rest of the dance, focusing on my core and watching myself in the mirror.
my sight flickers to Quinn, a smile on his face as he watches me dance, and for a moment i feel so proud of myself. but then my sights set on the boy beside him.
fluffy dirty blond hair mussed atop of his head, beauty marks dotting across his soft features, and beautiful blue eyes that watch my figure. he’s the prettiest boy i’ve ever seen.
i stutter in my steps, suddenly nervous and self conscious in front of the unfamiliar face, and before i can fix my form, i buckle under his stare; missing a step before my ankle twists, a sharp tinge of pain shooting up my leg as i stumble back down onto flat feet.
“shit.” i whimper, my facial features contorting in pain as i flex my ankle, gauging my pain level.
“are you okay?” Quinn stammers, eyes wide in concern, “what happened?”
“i’m fine,” i sigh. walking over to my bag, i pull my flats out and sit on the chair, beginning the process of taking off my pointe shoes, “i just got a little distracted.”
“distracted?” Quinn repeats, confusion plaguing his features before he looks back at his company, his lips quirking into a smirk, “y/n, this is my brother, Jack. Jack, this is y/n.”
my face heats under the heavy gaze of Jack’s blue eyes, his shoes tapping against the floor as he steps forward, extending a hand in front of me.
“hi.”
he smiles and it’s as though the whole world slowed, as though the universe was saying ‘look. look at him. perfection personified amidst your very eyes.’
“hi, it’s nice to meet you.” my hand slips into his, shaking lightly before i pull away, distracting myself by continuing my endeavors of changing my shoes.
Quinn and Jack share whispered huffs, mumbled words between the two of them as i slip my flats on, shoving my pointe shoes in my bag.
i stand now, removing my tutu and holding it carefully, leaving me in only my tights and leotard.
“i’m ready.” they both look over at me, Quinn nodding in acknowledgment before he turns and wordlessly begins walking out, leaving his brother and i to fall in line behind him.
“so how did you guys meet?” Jack asks me as we step out of the private room, his voice hushed.
“i go watch the development program practices a lot, Quinn saw me walking home and offered me a ride.”
“you like hockey?” he raises a brow as he looks over at me with a bright grin.
“mhm.” i hum, “i’ve watched it my whole life. my dad is a red wings fan.”
we exit the building, following Quinn to his car.
“good team.” Jack replies, his voice far off, eyes staring ahead as though deep in thought; and i assume that’s the end of our conversation until he speaks again, “i liked your dance. pretty.”
blood rushes to the apples of my cheeks and i bite my lip to hold back a smile, “thanks.”
i pull open the car door as Quinn unlocks it, climbing into the back seat so that Jack can sit up front with his brother. but i’m surprised when he joins me in the back, earning a look from Quinn.
it’s silent as Quinn starts the car, pulling out from the parking space and out of the lot.
“so,” Jack starts, gaining my attention once more, “you dance and you like hockey, what else should i know about you?”
i ponder the question for a moment before i look over at him, “there’s not much to tell. i’m an only child, i like taylor swift, i don’t know.”
“well what do you and your friends do for fun? do you wanna be a ballerina when you graduate?” he turns towards me, letting me know i have his full attention.
“i only have one friend.” i shrug, “Quinn. and he and i usually just hang out at his billet house or at the rink. he’s been teaching me to skate.
“as for the ballerina thing, i don’t think so. i love dancing, but i don’t want it to be my life.”
Jack hums, nodding his head in thought before his lips part again, “give me your phone.”
“what?”
“gimme your phone.” he makes a grabby hand, waiting for me to pull my phone out of my bag before i set it in his palm.
he turns it on, getting in easily with my lack of password, and quickly types something before handing it back.
“two.” he smirks.
“what?” my face punches in confusion.
“you have two friends now.” i look down at my phone, a new contact open with his number inputted in.
“okay.” i smile, not quite sure how to react to this gorgeous boy wanting to be my friend. it’s a new feeling that i’m not quite used to.
the car is silent as we pull onto Quinn and i’s street, but if i remember correctly, he’s staying at a hotel with his dad for the next couple of days.
“hey, twinkle toes.” Quinn calls out from the drivers seat.
“yeah?”
“you still coming to the game tomorrow?”
“i plan on it.” i tell him.
“alright, you’ll be sitting with my dad and Jack.” he informs me, “Jack, you good to wait for her at the entrance to take her to your guys’ seats?”
Quinn stops in front of my house, unlocking the doors.
“yeah, sure.” Jack confirms, watching as i exit the vehicle, “i’ll see you tomorrow.”
“see you tomorrow!” i smile. i shut the door, Quinn’s window rolling down as he calls out a goodbye, “bye, snuggles!”
i can hear Jack snort out a laugh as i walk away, a wheezed echo of “snuggles?!” coming from the back seat.
“shut it, Rowdy.” Quinn grumbles, rolling up his window before peeling away.
***
thirty minutes.
i spent thirty long minutes picking out my outfit for tonight. when i originally said i would go to Quinn’s game, i had just planned on wearing a USA Hockey sweatshirt and some leggings; but now that i’ve met Jack and know i’ll be with him? i refused to dress down so much.
descending the stairs of my house, my mother peers over the back of the couch, her hair in a tight bun and her laptop in her lap, slaving over a law case with files piled beside her.
“what are you so dressed up for?” she inquires, her glasses sitting low on the bridge of her nose.
“i have Quinn’s game tonight.” i walk around the couch to stand in front of her, my nikes shuffling along the area rug.
“i’m so proud of you.” she smiles, and for a moment i’m left to ponder where this could go, “you’re finally taking a care to how you present yourself.”
and there it is; the subtle jab. it can never be a real compliment, there’s always gonna be the underlying insult muddled in somewhere.
“are you going with friends?” she questions, her focus falling back on the open computer screen in her lap.
“kinda?” i’m not quite sure what to call Jack, he said we’re friends, but we also don’t actually know each other.
“kinda?” my mother echoes in wonder, looking back up at me as i wander into the kitchen to retrieve a water bottle.
“yeah. i met Quinn’s brother yesterday, the one a year older than me?” i start, “i’m sitting with him and their dad at the game. i don’t think i would call us friends really, but we exchanged numbers yesterday.”
my mother sighs, pushing her glasses atop of her head in order to pinch the bridge of her nose.
“does this boy play that brutal game too?”
my mind wanders back to what Quinn has told me about his family in the past, “yeah, they all do.”
“oh y/n, don’t get too wrapped up in these boys. they won’t do you any good.” she tells me, “find a nice boy, one who wants to do something substantial with his life.”
“we’re just friends, mom. it’s not like anything is gonna happen.”
“but you want it to.” she narrows her eyes, waving her finger towards me, “i can see it. mother’s intuition. don’t fall for this boy.”
who is she to tell me who i should fall for? she and dad barely even speak anymore. i wouldn’t even call what they have, love.
“it’s just going to a hockey game, mom. their dad is gonna be there too.” i sigh, “i gotta go.”
“how are you getting there?” she asks, “are they picking you up?”
“no,” i shake my head, “dad said he would drive me.”
her brows furrow, “your dad had to go into work.”
i gape at her, a blank look covering my face. i shouldn’t be shocked, this happens all the time. it’s the same reason i walk home from ballet, or why i’ve come to rely on Quinn to pick me up for school. but somehow, it still always feels like a cut to the heart.
my mother sighs, shutting her laptop and rising from her seat, “i’ll drive you. come on.”
“you would think he would try and spend more time with you. but it’s always work with that one. work then family.” she mutters, ranting to herself as she slips her shoes on, grabbing her keys from the dish on the entryway table.
i fall in line slowly behind her, dreading this car ride already; because it appears it’s one of those days. the days where my mother will do anything to appear better in my eyes than my father. including talking down about him to me in hopes to make me more upset with him than i already am.
and i was correct. the entire drive was spent with me sitting silently in the passengers seat, watching my surroundings pass by as she went on and on about all of the things my father has done wrong in the past week.
i couldn’t get out of the car quick enough, nearly breaking the car door off its hinges as i throw it open. calling out a goodbye to my mother and assuring her that yes, Quinn would be driving me home afterwards, i slam the door shut and jog towards the arena entrance.
slowing down upon the sight of the glass doors, my body lights up, butterflies flutter in my stomach as i spot Jack in the lobby just through the doors. he wears jeans and a gray hoodie, converse tied to his feet, and he looks down at his phone, glancing up every few moments.
when his eyes land on me through the clear glass, a friendly smile spreads across his lips, slipping his phone into his pocket and taking a few steps towards the door, propping it open for me.
“hey!” he chimes as i reach the entrance, “puck should drop soon! i was gonna text you to check in but, i didn’t wanna push anything.”
my heart rate picks up, my cheeks burning at the idea of seeing Jack’s name pop up on my phone, “you can text me any time.”
Jack’s smile drops into a smirk, his blue eyes sparkling with mischief and amusement, “i’ll keep that in mind.”
“our seats are this way.” Jack begins pushing through the lingering people in our way, many not paying any attention to the people in their way as they try and navigate towards their own seats.
for a second, i’m pushed away from him, worry flooding my mind as i think of how i’ll try and find our seats if i lose him. but then he looks back at me, his eyes finding mine, and he must see the anxiety that fills my body, because it’s not a moment later that his hand finds mine.
his hand slips into mine, interlacing our fingers as he gently tugs me closer to him as he walks, a reassuring quirk to his lips, “i got you. it’s okay.”
and somehow, all my worry melts away, just like that. for some reason, i feel like he’s telling the truth; it’ll be okay.
there’s something about Jack’s presence that calms my nerves. that makes me feel okay. and it sounds utterly insane because i’ve known him for all of twenty-four hours, but i feel like i can truly trust him.
as we reach our seats, Jack sitting next to his dad with me beside him, he still never lets go of me. instead, he rests our hands on his thigh, glancing over at me to gauge my reaction before he speaks.
“you okay?”
and finally, for once, i’m telling the truth, “yeah.”

The day before the full moon, you start to feel feverish.
And not just a normal, regular fever either. Everything feels hot and pulsing, like your body is filled with some unseen electricity that’s surging through you, lighting your nerves on fire. It’s been torturing you all day. All through your shift at the diner, all through the long, grueling hours that it has taken for you to get home. Waves of heat rushing through your body, drenching you from your head to your toes in sweat.
You wondered, at first, if Eddie was possessing you again, but it felt like your body answered that question for you– with a gush of arousal between your legs at the mere thought of him, soaking your panties. You didn’t hear his voice in your head, didn’t feel any sort of weird jerking of your limbs or touches on your skin that shouldn’t have been there. He isn’t possessing you.
You wondered if, maybe, you were somehow channeling that same strange magic again– the kind that he showed you how to use, to transform a water glass into a flower vase. That had felt so concentrated, though, in one area of your body. This is an all over ache, an all over fever. It doesn’t feel like the magic that you’ve used so far.
So… why are you feeling like this?
You considered calling out of work sick, but when you got to the diner and you looked around you, absolutely no one seemed enticing. Like your body was recoiling from anyone else, you physically shuddered at the prospect of anyone touching you but Eddie.
Which would normally be fine, except your body is going insane. Heat below the surface of your skin makes you perspire. The moon hangs overhead, bright white in the sky and looming like it sees you, and knows what you’re going to do tomorrow night.
How you’re going to give yourself over to Eddie, fully. Completely. More than you even have yet– if you can count it, it’ll be the first time you two honestly fuck, and you can’t contain yourself at the thought. Your skin flames, your heart pounds. You feel like climbing up the walls. You’re excited and you’re nervous, and just thinking about the prospect makes… whatever’s happening to your body ruin yet another pair of your underwear.
When you get home again, you run a cold bath. You tear at your clothes as you go, moving through your apartment. Dante is nowhere to be found, somewhere off in the aether doing his hellhound business again. You’re getting used to him coming and going just as often as his previous owner does.
When you sink into a cold bath, it’s like heaven on your overheated skin. You don’t know if this is technically good for you– you wonder if your body can handle this elevated temperature. Considering you can make coffee boil with your touch and telepathically transform glassware, you’re having trouble telling what’s within the realm of possibility, these days.
Inevitably, your thoughts turn to Eddie. Where he is, what he’s doing. If he’s feeling the same thing that you are, this infernal heat that’s taking over your body and making it difficult to focus on anything other than the thought of him.
Your wandering fingers dance over your wet skin and you dream that they could be his, and it’s bad enough that you’re wanting him so much you can practically taste it. But you still haven’t quite faced the realization that started nagging at you just days ago.
You love him.
This was not the plan. Ideally, you figure you would have fucked the demon on the obligatory days once a month, and otherwise you would have gone about your life, business as usual. But you guess that making a deal with a demon doesn’t exactly lend itself to business as usual. And you sure as hell didn’t expect your demon to be so… so perfect.
Perfect for you. A fucking nerd with a heart of gold, even if he does keep running around trying to maim people who hurt you. He’s adorable, he has a sense of humor. He brought you an entire garden’s worth of flowers– they’re still on your counter, miraculously still fresh nearly a week later, half of them stuffed in the vase that he helped you create before he put you back to bed. Tucked you in and kissed your forehead and then fucked off like he knew he’d made you cranky.
You think you’d do anything for him, if he asked.
If a deal with a demon is something like a marriage– and your deal includes the stipulation of sex– wouldn’t it make sense for you to fall for him? Isn’t this all just a stereotypical marriage of convenience trope wrapped up in a little supernatural bow?
Whatever the reason, rational or no, you’re falling for him. That pyroclastic flow of his that you’d sworn would burn you alive when you first met him to make the deal– it's caught you, and it’s completely decimating you. Covering you in ash and boiling your blood. You can hear it roaring in your ears.
…Actually, that’s just you boiling your bath water.
“Shit.”
You leap up, splashing water across the floor. The paint on the sides of the tub is bubbling up and peeling with the heat of the water as it rolls like a jacuzzi and threatens to spill over. You’ve been boiling it as you lay in it, thinking about you and your little demon problem.
Well, that’s the first time you’ve ever managed to do that. So much for cooling off.
You wrap yourself in a towel, and you hope that you won’t manage to set that on fire, or something. Eddie’s mark on your arm twinges, pulsing beneath your skin. You need to calm down, before you manage to burn the fucking house down.
As you pull on a thin nightshirt– something breathable, which hopefully won’t make you sweat too much in your sleep– there’s a knock at your door. You drag your hands down your face and heave a long, extended sigh. You just want to sleep. You just want to wait out the day tomorrow until you have to meet Eddie at the crossroads, and then…
And then you hope for some kind of relief to your frustration.
There’s another knock, more forceful this time. You press the heels of your palms into your eyes, and steel yourself to go answer the door. Whoever the fuck is bothering you at eight o’clock in the evening better have a good fucking reason.
As you cross your living room to the door, there’s a scuffling from the direction of the couch, and then Dante emerges from the darkness. At first as a shadow, and then he materializes into his full Rottweiler self, and barks. Very, very loudly.
“Dante!” you yelp, trying to shuffle toward the door as the dog jumps at you, barking and trying to bite at the bottom of your nightshirt. “Baby, I know, I’m happy to see you too, but I gotta get the d–”
The door is knocked open just as soon as you unlock it, throwing you back and onto the floor. Dante skids toward the door, snarling, growling and baring his teeth at whoever it is.
“Andy?” You look up to find your ex closing the door behind him. “I thought you were– what are you doing here?”
“Look at what you did to me, you bitch,” Andy snaps, and turns toward you.
You’re a little too distracted to do what he says, though, considering he’s pointing a gun in your face.
Adrenaline cuts through your body like a knife, making your limbs tremble. You can hear Dante barking, distantly, like from underwater. You feel nauseous, a roiling in your gut about to spring forth. Ohhh, this is a bad time to be having a panic attack. “Andy, I don’t know what you’re–”
“Look at what you did to me!” Andy’s shouting makes you tear your eyes fearfully away from the gun. You don’t want to look at his face, but you do. You do, and it makes your stomach lurch even worse– because only half of it is there anymore.
The cops who came to the scene said that Andy had sustained third degree burns, but they didn’t say where. You figured they were probably on his arms, maybe his chest and his legs, since he was reaching for the car door. You didn’t know that half his face had been taken off with it. Clearly, his time in the ICU hasn’t been enough for the wounds to heal properly; the skin is still blistered and oozing in places. His nose a burnt nub, his lips curled back from his teeth in a permanent smile that makes him resemble the phantom of the opera.
Okay. This is really bad. You’ve never tried calling for Eddie before, and you don’t know how to consciously do it– you’ve just done it on accident a few times, and he’s answered. You hope that he answers now.
Eddie. I really really need your help right now. Please.
“Shut that fucking dog up before I put a bullet in it,” Andy snarls, gesturing to Dante with the gun.
“Dante,” you whisper desperately, reaching for the angry, over-protective Rottweiler. “Down. Down, baby, it’s okay.”
Dante backs off, but only a bit.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK.
“You should be in the hospital,” you tell Andy, for lack of anything else to say. You can’t even begin to understand why he’s out, looking the way that he is. He shouldn’t be walking, shouldn’t be talking with the amount of damage he’s taken.
Andy shakes his head. It makes a disgustingly wet clicking sound, and you wonder if somehow, some way, he’s been magicked out of there by your paranormal circumstances. Wouldn’t it just be the comeuppance you deserve? You wonder if tonight is the full moon, and you miscalculated the timing of the ritual. Have you unintentionally sealed your fate? Not held up your end of the bargain?
“I left,” Andy tells you, and his voice is grating and rough with the damage his throat has taken. “As soon as I woke up– couldn’t let you get away with it. Fuckin’ witch.”
You knew Andy to be a hypocrite, sure. He roped you in by claiming to hate the bigots in town who harassed you. He would talk shit about church and about religion, and he could honestly give a fuck about scripture. You’re not sure that he’s ever actually picked up a bible. But then, he could also be known to break up dinners and conversations with the same vapid evangelical rhetoric. “Prepare to meet Jesus your Maker, my friend, because the end of the world is coming in three weeks! Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife… or girlfriend, or whatever.”
It took a while for these moments to really pile up– a few too many dinners and gatherings embarrassingly ruined until it was too much to laugh off as a joke– and ultimately it was what spurred you to finally try to “end” the relationship. This was all, usually, a way of peacocking and showing off his supposed “piety” to the other people in town. Always on a high-horse about something. Usually it stemmed from his intolerance of other people’s idiosyncrasies. But you wouldn’t have expected him to fall into the hunt-the-witch category.
“I didn’t do anything to you,” you retort, starting to scoot backwards on your hands, slithering slowly away from the gun in your face. Eddie’s mark on your wrist throbs, your hands heating up and beginning to scorch the floorboards you crawl across.
“I know that you did.” He shakes the gun, as though it’s going to get his point across further. “I know– I know you fucking did something. Black magic or some– some demonic shit! I felt it! Look at my fucking arm!”
Andy brandishes the arm that you grabbed, when he tried to cut into Eddie’s mark on your wrist. The welt is still angry and red, the clear imprint of your hand raised on his skin.
“You did this to me,” Andy repeats, looking more and more crazed. His blue eyes are wide and flashing angrily as he gestures with his gun. “You fucking cursed me, you marked me with your– your Devil’s mark! I’m gonna make you take it back, put things right. Take it back or I’ll fucking kill you.”
Dante leaps forward again at the jerk of Andy’s gun, putting himself between you and the weapon.
You shake your head, trying to figure out how to calm Andy down, or disarm him. You’re a witch, right? You’re a witch, and you have some kind of crazy power in you– you can transform objects with your mind. It can’t be so hard to just… turn the gun into a rubber chicken. Right?
Rubber chicken, rubber chicken. You can’t focus well enough. Dante is still barking, baring his teeth and growling at Andy. “I don’t know why your car exploded–”
“SHUT THAT FUCKING DOG UP!” Andy roars, and before you can even tell Dante not to, the hellhound’s eyes glow red and he springs for Andy’s legs.
You scream as the gun goes off, your heart plummeting into your stomach. A sob escapes you, tears pricking at your eyes and flowing over onto your cheeks. For a second, you fear that Andy has killed yet another dog in front of you, that you’ll have to bury Dante beside Lacey in the woods. In your panic, you somehow forget that Dante isn’t from your world, and a spirit can’t be killed twice.
You leap forward to grab at Dante, to hold him if he’s been hurt– but Dante isn’t even fazed. The bullet passes through the dog’s body, bounces off the floor and ricochets off into the living room somewhere. He sinks his teeth into Andy’s thigh, tearing into the flesh without remorse. He bears down, snarling, blood spurting from the wound and beginning to drip onto the floor.
Andy howls, and kicks his leg until he’s able to fling Dante off. Dante skids across the floor, and comes to a stop just in front of a pair of black boots, materializing out of the darkness.
A hand drops down, fingers clad with chunky silver rings, and pets the growling hellhound’s blood covered head.
“Good boy,” Eddie murmurs, just as his form solidifies from the shadows. He lifts his hand and sucks the blood from his finger, gazing up through his bangs at Andy.
“Eddie.” Just one look at him, and warmth floods your system. You go to stand and throw yourself at him, but Andy points his gun at you again. He isn’t looking very good– cringing and clutching at his wounded leg, the hand with the gun shaking as he holds it towards you.
“This is your little fucking boyfriend?” He tries to sound intimidating, but his voice wobbles as Eddie lifts himself to his full height, fixing him with an unblinking stare.
Little. Right.
“Sure am.” Eddie tilts his head. “And you’re a piece of shit who’s had too many second chances.”
You watch as Eddie steps forward, and the gun swivels toward him. Andy shouts, “DON’T MOVE! I’ll shoot you, motherfucker!”
“Shoot me while you’re talking, it’ll save time.” Eddie pauses, and bends down to take your burning hand. He gingerly wraps his arm around you and lifts you up easily, like you weigh nothing.
You stand on shaky legs, squeezing his hand as Eddie presses his lips to your feverish forehead. Relief spreads from his kiss like the antidote to a poison, calming your panicked mind and urging your tense muscles to relax. Sniffling, your voice is sticky with tears when you whisper, “I called you.”
“I know,” Eddie says apologetically, wiping your tears away with his clean hand. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to take so lo–”
“Aww aren’t you two just so fucking cute,” Andy sneers, interrupting him. “Guess I’ll just have to kill both of you. I bet you’re just as into that devil shit as she is. Couple of fucking freaks, the both of you.”
Eddie scowls, turning his head to glare at Andy. He squeezes your hand, guiding you to hold onto the counter before he lets you go. “You’re so right. We’re perfect for each other. He doesn’t even know how right he is, does he?”
You open your mouth, but no sound comes out– you’re just sort of staring, dumbfounded, as Eddie turns to advance towards Andy.
The gun fires three times, and Eddie stops in place. He puffs out his cheeks and groans, turning toward you with his hands on his hips. Wide-eyed, Eddie looks at you with a perturbed expression. “He shot me.”
Three bullet holes litter his chest, ripped into the fabric of his Metallica t-shirt. There’s no blood that you can see, but the bullets force their way out of his skin, dropping to the ground with a quiet plink, plink, plink.
You blink, and you set your jaw. Beyond the fear, and the tears, your mind burns with malice. “He did.”
“What the fuck?” Andy, looking afraid all of a sudden, like he only just realized that he’s in over his head, starts backing away. “What– what the hell is happening–”
“What, what, what?” Eddie hisses mockingly, his black eyes flashing with amber sparks. He bites his lip as he gazes at you. “I should show him, right?”
Show him…? You don’t even care what Eddie’s suggesting, really. You’re just beyond mad and vibrating with it– nerves and anger and searing infernal heat that’s starting to sizzle the very sweat on your skin, the longer you look at your demon.
You nod at Eddie. “Do it, baby.”
Eddie grins. His eyes catch fire as he turns back to Andy, and grabs him by his throat, lifting him into the air with one bloody hand. “Oh, you really shouldn’t have done that, buddy. Now you’ve made her mad. And I do whatever she wants.”
You watch as his shirt and jacket melt away, baring his chest and a pair of broad, pale shoulders that are covered in the faded scar tissue and tattoos, creeping up onto his neck. The tattoos swirl and move on his skin, like they’re alive– snakes curling and slithering up each arm, bat wings wiggle like they want to pop out of the skin and take flight. Skulls scream and laugh, spiders crawl. There are so many it’s like a second skin, almost as if he carries the entirety of Hell on his body.
His hands grow long claws, his head a pair of horns. And then, just like you thought they would, the wings unfurl. Enormous, they extend from his back, inky black and pointed. Taking up what little space there is in your entryway.
Your breath stutters in your chest, realizing that this is what Eddie’s true form is. The one that he said you wouldn’t like, if you saw it.
He was very very wrong about that.
Andy kicks, his blistered skin oozing at the pressure of Eddie’s hand squeezing him, and he howls at the sudden contact. Dropping the gun so that he can grab at Eddie’s arm, he gurgles, “What the hell are you?”
Eddie’s eyes burn as red as the blood on his hands when he bares his fangs. “The Devil.”
Oh. His voice. It has that same deep cadence, but it sounds smoky, almost rumbling directly from his throat rather than out of his mouth. It sends another wave of heat through your body, the same kind that boiled your bathwater and burned the shape of your hands into your floorboards.
There’s a swelling in your head and in your chest that’s starting to creep down into your stomach. A vibrating in your bones that you feel will split you apart. You groan quietly, clutching your middle.
Eddie unhinges his jaw. All the way, his mouth practically splits his face in half to reveal rows of razor sharp teeth that shouldn’t realistically fit there. His long, forked tongue extends to lick Andy’s burned flesh, roaring at him as Andy shrieks. Eddie pulls Andy close, as though he means to swallow him whole.
But a wet crackling noise rips through the room, and then Andy explodes.
He bursts like a water balloon, splattering blood and bits of flesh all over the walls, all over Eddie, all over you. You stand tensely, open mouthed and with your shoulders pulled to your ears as it rains down from the ceiling, splashing onto your floor. In the silence afterwards, you hear Dante stop growling and start gnawing on a piece of Andy’s flesh that dropped to the floor beside him.
Eddie’s jaw closes and melts back into his normal face, his wings closing and retreating into a tattoo on his back. He blinks, stunned, and then turns his head and looks at you in shock. He raises his eyebrows, his face completely, comically red to match the color of the volcanic flames in his eyes. A piece of torn flesh hangs in his hair.
And that sick feeling you’d been having is suddenly fucking gone.
“Did–” You stop, smacking your lips as metallic blood oozes into your mouth. Your hands are clenched, held up by your face like you’re trying to shield yourself from it. Not that it’s helping. “Did I do that?”
Eddie nods slowly, an incredulous grin spreading across his face. He starts to laugh.
You shake your head, clapping your bloody hands over your mouth. It makes a wet slapping noise. “No– Eddie, don’t fuck with me right now–”
“Sweetheart… You blew him to smithereens!” Eddie cackles, rushing forward to wrap his arms around you. You squeal as he lifts you, jumping up and down with you like you just won first prize. “That was so fucking metal! Holy shit!”
You grab onto him with shaking hands, pressing your face into his neck. His bare skin is warm and slick, his scars bumpy against your cheek. “I thought I was just having a panic attack…”
Your demon, your self-proclaimed boyfriend, giggles like a child on Christmas and twirls you around. “That’s what he gets! That’s what anyone fucking gets for messing with my baby…”
“I was just so angry,” you tell him shakily, clutching to him like a lifeline. “He fucking shot you and he shot Dante and I– I just wanted him gone.”
“Well, he’s gone now.” Eddie snickers, pressing his blood soaked forehead against yours. “He’s gone now, you fucked him up so bad. Attagirl.”
You hold Eddie’s face and kiss him earnestly, fiercely, with everything you have in you. He grunts, wrapping you in his arms and pulling you flush against him, kicking up a squelching wet noise that would throw you off if you were thinking clearly. That same heat that’s been bothering you all day blasts forth, setting you aflame. A beast howls in your chest, snarling and vying for his attention.
“I just wanted to protect you, Eddie,” you tell him between frantic kisses. “You’re mine. No one touches what’s mine.”
He takes a slow breath and releases it with a warm purr deep in his chest. Your hand strokes his cheek and he nuzzles into it, his glowing eyes fluttering shut, and you feel an inordinate amount of pride welling up inside you.
You’re holding a demon in your hands– a real, actual demon– and he’s purring like a kitten over it. He has claws that could kill you with a single swipe, fangs that could tear flesh from bone, power beyond believability, and he’s yours.
Your kisses turn heated and deep. You scratch your nails down his chest toward his belt, pressing yourself further against him. Eddie chuckles against your lips.
“You know, you have a habit of trying to fuck me whenever Andy gets blown up,” Eddie points out, pulling back just slightly with a lopsided grin. “Should do it more often.”
“God, I’ve been so horny for you all day,” you hiccup, already frustrated as your fingers slip across the metal, fumbling and awkward as you try to undo it quickly. “I don’t know what it is, I feel like I’m gonna explode if I don’t have you right now.”
“You want me like this?” Eddie asks. Even though his voice is deep and sultry, there’s a touch of insecurity in it. “I know I’m not much to look at, sweetheart.”
You shake your head. “You’re gorgeous. You’re so gorgeous, Eddie, you don’t even know.” Your voice is coming out breathy, near panting as you lay kisses to his lips and cheeks, tasting Andy’s blood in your mouth.
The heat of your own body matches Eddie’s to the point that his skin– which always feels too hot, almost to the point of burning– feels normal to you. It makes your mind reel, and you don’t have to steel yourself before pressing your body against him, grasping him in your hands. His flesh is damp and sticky, and his hair still drips with blood; none of it makes a difference to you.
He yanks you against him, his claws tearing into the threadbare fabric of your nightshirt. He nearly snickers at it. It’s barely covering you as it is, all your curves and edges on display as the wet cotton clings to your body. With one sharp tug, the shirt rips and falls away from your chest.
You moan when his tongue gently glides along your shoulder and up the side of your throat, collecting the blood on your skin. Your cunt throbs with desire and your own blood boils with a need you haven’t felt before.
“So fucking cute,” Eddie coos in your ear, somewhere between chastising and affectionate. “Just can’t wait for it, can you? Gotta get all impatient with me the night before the full moon?”
“Yes, Eddie.” Your voice sounds pathetic. Whining, practically crying for it when you’ve got him so close, and his tongue on your bare skin is enough to give you a head rush. You think the touch of it ought to melt you to your core.
Well. Something’s melting in your core, anyway. And Eddie’s all too aware of it; he slides two thick fingers between your legs, urging your thighs apart just barely so that he can stroke you where you want it. He hisses through his teeth, his fingers coming back dripping with arousal and blood that isn’t even yours.
“I should make you wait,” he murmurs as he stares down into your eyes.
You can already feel yourself shaking your head, your hands grabbing for him desperately. It’s ridiculous– just the thought of him leaving you like this has you near tears. “No, please–”
“I said I should,” he tells you as he licks his fingers in front of you; a forked tongue flickering over the digits before disappearing again. “Not that I will.”
You heave a relieved sigh, a noise of contentment as he presses a chaste kiss to your jaw.
“You’re gonna wish that I did, though.”
“Eddie, what– HOH FUCK!”
You screech as Eddie manhandles you down onto the floor. Puddles of blood squelch beneath your body as you come in contact with the wood, flopping onto your back as he kneels and crawls over you like some kind of predator.
You hum. “You know, we tend to fuck in my kitchen a lot–”
Eddie shushes you. A tattoo of a snake slithering along his forearm leaps out of his skin, forming into a 3D image. Before you can even comprehend it, the snake circles your head and slithers its way into your mouth.
You make a noise of surprise. The snake doesn’t delve too far, just enough to gag you. It tastes like blood and Eddie’s skin. Discreetly smoky and laced with salt.
“Whose fault is that?” Eddie asks, dipping his head to lick a long trail up the center of your stomach, the two appendages of his forked tongue tickling your skin and making you squirm. “Be a good girl and lay still for me.”
You grunt, scowling down at him. Eddie snickers– even with all his skeletons out of the closet and his magic surrounding you, you still behave like such a little brat. He moves slowly, dragging his nose up your torso, and letting his breath billow across your oversensitive skin. His arms cage you in, his knee slotting between your legs until the damp fabric of his jeans just barely brushes the lips of your pussy.
You whimper, bucking your hips instinctively towards that contact. He jerks it away just as quickly; the snake in your mouth, made of his own flesh, inches forward until you just barely gag on the intrusion.
“Sweet little thing,” Eddie purrs as he stalks up your body, his tongue flicking out to lick the blood from your breasts. He groans in the back of his throat, almost as if he’s savoring the taste of it. The fact that it’s also driving you insane, the slippery and hot caress against an erogenous zone, is just a happy byproduct. “You forget that I have all the time in the universe. I can do this until the end of time, if I want.”
You’re dizzy with arousal, oversensitized from every point of contact he’s giving you. You want to tell him that you’d fucking love it if he did keep you here forever, but all you’re able to do is moan around the writhing extension of him in your mouth.
He takes his fucking time licking the blood from your skin, his inordinately long tongue dancing between your breasts and over your stomach, until you swear that he’s going to try to clean you entirely. But he stops just over your pelvis, and his tongue just barely flutters over your clit.
You scream. Your hips jump, back arching at the sudden touch, while your toes are curling and all your muscles are drawn up tight and aching.
“I know, baby,” Eddie murmurs softly. He tuts, his mouth dragging so softly over the skin of your pelvis that it makes your hips jump, and you bite down on the snake in your mouth just as he bites down on the plush of your thigh.
To offset his gentle voice, another snake leaps from his arm and latches around your waist, pinning you to the floor. You whine brokenly, just a sob around the one in your mouth, as you feel two more slithering along your skin and winding around your legs to pull them open.
“You’re intoxicating,” Eddie sighs, just watching as you lay there, pinned down with the extensions of his body that he controls as easily as his own hands. Your hands still scratch along the floor, lifting to grab onto something of his.
Eddie gives you his own hands; he laces his fingers with yours, sticky blood gluing them together.
You squeeze his hands when his tongue glides through the lips of your cunt, sweeping over the soft, hypersensitive flesh. Something about him finally touching you after you’ve been starving for it all day, and the exposing position you’re in, splayed open and unable to move, makes it easy to give up control.
The sounds coming from your throat are sharp and quick, mingling with the noises of Eddie below, of the snakes hissing along your skin. He clamps his lips around your clit and sucks, as the tendrils of smoke and metaphysical matter that make up the snakes on your skin morph and change into hands– many many hands that caress you and grab you everywhere. Your breasts, your arms, your legs. A palm on your chin, forcing your head back so you can’t look, only feel.
With a moan, you rock your hips against Eddie’s face as best you can, given the circumstances. There’s so much happening, you barely even notice when your orgasm hits, and by that time you’re completely unable to stop it. You cry out around two rough fingers, shoved deep into your mouth to replace the snake that had been gagging you, as you squeeze at the two hands pinning your own against the floor.
When the hand in your mouth disappears, you’re panting. Gasping for breath, punctuated with little moans that don’t stop, because Eddie doesn’t stop. He keeps lapping up the arousal that drips from your swollen pussy, letting his tongue prod into your entrance like he means to fuck you with it again– knowing how well that went over last time, you don’t doubt that he would try, just to extend the torture.
Just to remind you that he could do this forever.
But he pulls away and sits up, and finally looks down at you, shaking on the floor. A smirk adorns his bloody, glistening face. “You still want more, princess?”
You nod with all the strength you have, reaching for him.
You should have known that, after watching him morph into half a dozen different shapes and sizes, he wouldn’t have to undress himself. It still doesn’t make it any less surprising to you when his pants just fucking melt out of existence, like it’s all just made of smoke.
“Couldn’t have done that when I was fucking with that goddamn belt buckle?” you grumble, finally finding your voice.
His eyebrows jump, a gorgeous grin spreading across his face. So much like the first one he ever gave you, there at the crossroads– brilliant, sharp teeth and dimples and sparkling eyes. Something that you’d kill to see every day for the rest of your life and beyond it.
“You’re… you’re impossible,” he giggles, crawling up your body to plant a wet kiss on your lips, tasting of metallic blood and salt and sweet smoke. Everything that you know and love about him is wrapped into one kiss.
Your hands come up to cradle his face, deepening the kiss until your teeth clash and you suck desperately on his tongue. He hums, dropping his hips to yours. The slick glide of his cock through your folds is so reminiscent of the dream he’d superimposed himself into, but this time it’s real, and it’s so much better. Hotter and wetter than you’d expected, kicking up an enormously loud, slick sound, echoing the slippery blood you roll around in. Your mouth drops open in a gasp, clinging to him as he grinds against you.
“This what you want?” Eddie’s voice wavers, a soft groan in his throat slipping out at the end. He huffs, dropping his forehead to rest against yours. “Fuck, tell me you want it, sweetheart. Need to hear you say it.”
He sounds just as broken as you. Maybe just holding on by a thread, but it’s just so thin. You can’t help the mess that it makes of you, your pussy drenching him the more he rocks against you. The sound of his voice crackling, the low and smoky demonic tone of it giving way to weakness at the feeling of your body against him, is so profoundly erotic.
You try to answer him. You do. But between the slow grind of his cock against your clit and his broad hand wrapping around your throat, all you manage to do is allow yourself to moan into his face.
Eddie tightens his hold on your throat just a touch. He spits, and a drop of his saliva hits your waiting tongue. He growls, “Tell me.”
You sob, your fingers tangling in his hair as you try desperately to rock against him. “Pleasepleaseplease– Eddie, I want it. W-want you so bad all the time, oh my god–”
“No god here, baby,” Eddie tells you heatedly, the smoldering lava pools of his eyes boring into yours. “Just me.”
He splits you open slowly, like after all of this terror and bloodshed, he’s afraid you might break. His cock slides thick through your walls, stretching you until you swear you can’t take any more and melting you from the inside out.
It’s blinding, searing bliss and agony all at once. He glides in so smoothly, because you’re practically fucking drowning him with your want.
He draws out even slower, letting you feel every ridge and vein as it moves through you, making your toes curl, your chest burn. Your clit throbs hard like it’s feeling neglected, but you can’t muster the ability to do anything about it.
You’re a whimpering mess. Watery-eyed and half insane with how much lust is flowing through you. You aren’t even aware that you’re babbling and whining until Eddie tucks his thumb between your lips.
“Shhh.” He guides your head back and forth, shaking it from side to side gently as you stare tearfully up at him. “No whining.”
You pretty much do the exact opposite. You want him to go faster. You want him to go deeper. You want him, you want him.
Eddie thrusts the rest of the way in, like he read your mind. You’re almost sure that he did, or is. He must be. It’s the only explanation for how he’s able to give you everything you want, exactly when you want it. You think you want his hands in your mouth, he gives them to you. You want him to fuck you harder, he does.
The force of your cry makes it ring sharply around the room, magnified by the wetness on the walls and floor. Your back slips through puddles of blood on the hardwood. It’s frankly disgusting, and yet…
“Ohhh you’re such a fucking freak for liking this, baby,” Eddie chides, confirming that yes, he can hear your thoughts. He sees every one of them, like he’s inside your own head, and it makes you burn for him even worse. He grins down at you as he jolts you along the floor with another thrust. “I love it. Y’so fucking perfect for me.”
Your hands grip his shoulders, nails biting into hot skin and pulling him down until his chest is flush with yours. “Whose– whose fault is tha– huhh!”
His hips rock backwards and roll into yours so fluidly that it astounds you with its grace. There’s always going to be two sides to him– smooth and rough. Sharp and soft. Juxtaposed and yet complementary.
“You feel so good,” you whimper softly, your voice coming out small and feeble.
“And you feel like heaven,” he whispers hoarsely, his nose nudging against yours. “Closest I’ll ever be to it.”
You arch your head back, exposing your neck to him as you cry out toward the ceiling. There’s nothing in your head except him– he’s managed to take the rest of your world and shrink it down until he takes up the brunt of it.
Eddie chuckles, like he knows. He knows what he’s doing, knows that each stroke of his cock is just stoking the fire that burns under your skin. His cock dragging slow and purposefully through your cunt, hitting that spot deep inside that makes you scream with pleasure. His tongue on your exposed neck, his claws digging into your thighs hard enough to draw blood.
Not that you need any more of it.
“That’s right,” Eddie croons as you moan loudly, dragging his mouth along the curve of your throat, lingering over your shoulder. “Let me hear you, little witch.”
Your body tenses and you tighten down around him, letting out a long amalgamation of noises that you’d been holding back. You’re starting to forget where you end and he begins, like the longer this goes on the more you start to fade into him like a shadow.
Eddie tucks his face into your shoulder and whispers something you don’t quite catch. You’re dizzy and your pussy pulses angrily in warning. Your mounting orgasm feels devastating already, like you’re on the brink of being torn apart.
“Mmm, getting close, isn’t it?” Eddie muses, and he sounds far away, like he’s talking to you from underwater. His voice is soft and sinful, exactly what you think it should be. “I can feel it, baby. Dirty little girl just loves getting fucked by a demon, doesn’t she?”
“Eddie, please–” you cut yourself off with a gasp when his thumb touches your clit, and you convulse once like you’re about to have a fit.
There’s a snicker in his voice, but you don’t miss the soft staccato breaths that he takes when you tighten around him again. “What, y-you wanna hear how– how wet you are? Fuckin’ drenching me, baby, it’s so fucking good–”
You sob, grabbing at him and smacking at his shoulders like that’ll get your point across.
He chuckles again, and his voice is absolutely wretched when he rasps, “If only Andy could see you now, huh?”
His words knock you directly into your orgasm, which was… much closer than you both realized, apparently. You clench down around his cock and your hips jump up, rocking desperately against him like he isn’t giving it to you exactly how you want it, already.
Eddie’s breath catches, going silent for a second before he groans loudly into the crook of your neck. “Good girl, such a good fucking girl for me, holy shit–”
The break in his voice simply kills you, dead. You cum around him hard, while his thumb continues to circle your clit in slow, gentle circles. So much gentler than you imagined he would be. Soft to offset the sharpness of his claws.
Or the sharpness of his teeth, rather, because he gives you one ragged moan into your overheated skin before he’s sinking his fangs into it. The sting is only as intense as the second wave of your orgasm, which sends sparks and shockwaves through you so hard that you swear you actually are burning alive beneath him.
Eddie cums for a long time. He keeps moving through it, slowly pumping into you and drinking your blood like it’s a means to sedate him. By the time he’s finished you’re so spent, it’s like the very life has been drained from you. Your limbs and eyes are heavy, your hands on his body are weak.
In the silence, you hear a crackling. A wave of heat, a cloud of smoke that engulfs you both– like the hellfire that he embodies no longer just belongs to him, but the both of you.
Eddie’s fangs retract from your skin, his tongue leaves you. He says your name softly– a quiet cooing, sing-songy and sweet. You hum, and your head lolls tiredly towards his palm against your cheek.
“Sweetheart,” he says, a little more urgently now. “You gotta get up.”
“Mmmm no. Let’s stay here.”
Eddie huffs, and then deadpans, “Your apartment is on fire.”
Your eyes shoot open. First you meet his eyes– crackling flames dance in them, but not the way that you’re so familiar with. They reflect on the surface of his eyes, rather than coming from within. Half his face is lit in an orange glow, flickering and dancing, making the shadows dance across them more than normal.
Then you feel the heat. It’s more than him, more than you. And then the smoke alarm in your bedroom starts shrieking.
The room is engulfed in flames. The flowers preserved in the vase on your counter wither in the heat and crumple like paper. The walls, the furniture, the floors catch on like you live in a tinderbox. Fire surrounds you so closely that it should burn you.
It should. It doesn’t. You feel the heat, but it doesn’t hurt. It tickles, it warms you like a soft blanket.
“How the hell did that happen?” you splutter, cringing and grabbing at Eddie as you hear a cupboard lose its structural integrity and collapse, along with all the dishes inside of it.
Eddie giggles, his cheshire cat grin splitting his face wide. Dimples on show, hair reflecting a little bit of gold from the fire, he says, “We’re just a lot more powerful than you think.”
You gaze around at your burning apartment. All the mediocre remnants of your life peel from the walls and settle as char on the floor. Dante is once again long gone; you didn’t figure he would stick around.
Turning your head back to Eddie, you blink slowly, feeling lulled by the warmth surrounding you and the weight of his body on yours. You almost don’t even care about the hardness of the floor and how it’ll be murder on your spine in the morning. Eddie peers down at you with an affectionate smile, his thumb stroking your cheekbone lovingly.
“Oh fuck,” you say after a moment. “I’m not gonna get that fucking security deposit back, am I?”

A/N- I'm back with another fic, this took me a while but I'm kinda really satisfied with it, I really hope you all like it. I will try to write the next part as soon as I can. I wanna finish these series as soon as I can, first of all because I'm all excited and can't wait, also I'm excited to try out new tropes, I was thinking of challenging one bed trope after this, with various different dynamics. The requests are open, if you want me to write something I'll gladly accept the challenge. Also feel free to share your thoughts with me, I absolutely adore interacting with y'all.
Tumblr media
After sighing for the nth time you finally forced yourself to turn off the shitty netflix show you were watching to spend time. You had nothing to do and were bored out of your mind, but not to that context to sit through another minute of this. It was almost 3 am and any normal person would be asleep by now, but here you were wide awake, feeling nothing remotely close to sleepiness.
You sat up straight after laying for couple of hours and boy you regretted it. The dizzy spell you got was nothing to joke with, maybe you should check your iron levels. Also your poor muscles felt so sore you would surely feel all stiff tomorrow. Your back was killing you, and, not to be dramatic but, you would marry anyone on the spot if they managed to massage the knots out. It was safe to say, you desperately needed some good spa day.
Speaking of marriage and partners, you were curious on how Hyunjin was doing. Even a mere thought of your amazing boyfriend bought a smile to your face. You couldn't believe you two were actually dating after pining over him for so many years. You sure were lucky tho, to have a sweetheart like him as your boyfriend. Your one year annivercary was coming soon and you couldn't surprise wait to surprise him. You've been planning everything for weeks now and you made sure everything would be perfect. Well you had to share some of your plans with him, so that you could plan your day together but you still had major card up your sleeve and you were sure he would lose his mind when you showed it to him. Two days, you only had to wait for two days.
You couldn't help but sigh, you missed him so much. Even though you saw him two days ago it felt like centuries had passed. This boy made you feel so many so foreign emotions you were never sure you would get to or actually could experience. He always went above and beyond to make you feel like the most special and cherished person, and the fact that he also did so even before you two started dating each other. He was always so sweet and gentle with you. You always felt like a hero of a romance novel. Also you adored how being with him was so fun and exciting but at the same time bought peace to your heart and mind. You might be rushing into things but day by day, second by second you were convinced he was your soulmate, your other half.
A sudden buzzing of your phone startled you out of your daydream, you were curious who in their right mind was calling you at this hour.
Seeing the contact name had you even more confused. Why would Chan be calling you at 3 am? You knew the boys were out having fun night for themselves. Did something happen? You hoped he called you for other reasons, because it would really suck if their rare chance of having fun got ruined by something unplanned. You sure hoped everything was okay tho. Quickly as you could you grabbed your phone and answered it mentaly preparing yourself to hear anything Chan had to say.
Chan's call of your name bought you down to reality from another spiral of unnescesary thoughts.
"Hey Chan what's up?" You tried to sound as calm as you could.
Chan cleared his throat, "I'm sorry, did I wake you up?" You quickly denied it," no I'm awake, what's up? Is everything okay?"
Chan chuckled and it made you relax a little, so nothing bad had happened, "yeah, yeah everything's fine , nothing to worry about, it's just your boyfriend is getting a bit fussy." You couldn't help but mirror the last word, you heard Chan chuckle. "Yeah alcohol must've got to him. We were about to go home, but he refuses to cooperate. He says he wants to go at yours because he as he quotes "misses his baby so much he can't take it anymore!" He dragged the words mimicking your boyfriend, you couldn't help but chuckle.
"Where are you guys, I can come pick him up." You suggested while searching for your keys with your eyes.
"No, no it's okay, we can bring him at yours. Binnie and Han are with me too so I don't think it will be much trouble. I just couldn't knock some sense into him, I told him to call you but he said his phone died. At some point he even ran towards your house or that's what he thought I had to tackle him before he could get lost. I don't think he can tell left from right in this state" He paused for a second, you heard someone talking but you couldn't hear anything, " I'm getting off track sorry, so it's good to bring him at yours?" You were full on chuckling now, what a silly little man.
"Yeah, it's totally fine. I'm sorry he's being trouble."
"No it's fine, it's kinda endearing to see him this whipped. All he talked about was you and how amazing you are." Your cheeks hurt from smiling this wide, God, you loved that idiot. "Okay I won't bore you anymore, we'll be at yours soon."
"Okay I'm waiting."
After finishing the call you made sure you looked decent enough for your taste and that your apartment looked neat. You also prepared clothes for Hyunjin to change into from his drawer and some water and painkillers for tomorrow.
It didn't even take 20 minutes for the boys to arrive. The second you opened your door Hyunjin tackled you into a hug, almost knocking you over, thankfully Changbin and Chan caught you two before you could manage and break your necks. You giggled at your boyfriends eagerness, before frowning when you saw how swollen and red his eyes were. "What happened baby?" You cooed at him and moved his hair out of his face. Hyunjin sighed and hugged you again, hiding his face in the crook of your neck. You heard collective sigh of boys and turned your attention to them, looking at them with confused eyes, hoping they would tell you what was up.
Han decided to break the silence-"don't worry he was just bawling his eyes the whole ride, crying how amazing and perfect you were and how there is no one like you." He said and rolled his eyes, you huffed out a laugh, you knew he had nothing against you, but he must have had enough of this. Hyunjin frowned and glanced at him, his hold on you tightened, you were not sure if he felt possesive or just couldn't keep himself straight. "You're just bitter cuz you're single!" Hearing your boyfriends grumble Han's eyes widened and for a second you were afraid predebut Han would return. "Oh I'm gonna beat his ass!" Han leaned in but Changbin held him back by his collar, Changbins gaze then turned to you and you noticed how tired he seemed. "Good luck, he's your headache now."
Chan looked at you" Do you need any help with anything?" You smiled at him and shook your head. "I can handle him. Do you guys wanna come in tho? Do you want something to drink?" After hearing the last word you could see all three of them shiver.
"We're fine. It's late too we better head home." Chan reassured you after glancing at Changbin and Han for their opinion.
"Okay, thanks again for bringin him. Tell me when you're home, it's really late."
You said your goodbyes and turned to hyunjin who looked at you with dazed, sparkling eyes. "Let's get you settled pretty boy." You took his hand and started leading him towards your bedroom. Hyunjin eagerly followed you, you were amazed how pliant he was being, usually he loved being a brat but he must have been too tired now to act so.
After helping Hyunjin get ready for bed, you quickly got changed too and got in bed next to him. turning to him you noticed that he looked at you with wide eyes, nowhere near sleepy now. You leaned in and removed hair from his forehead, "I thought you were sleepy baby." Hyunjin looked at you for a second or two and opened his arms, "wanna cuddle." His words were slurred but you still got what he meant, you smiled and immediately snuggled next to him his arms finding solace around you. Based on how content he looked, if he could he would start purring any second now. How was he so cute and lovable? You knew you were whipped for him but you could swear he looked extra yummy right now.
You spent couple of minutes like this, and based on his even breathing you were sure he was asleep now, but you were proved wrong when he huffed while glaring at you and then changed sides so that you were now facing his back. To be honest you were a bit dumbfounded.
"What's wrong sweetie?" You couldn't help but pry, you had no idea what could've brought this behavior from him. Hyunjin just huffed. You sighed for yourself, you had got to use the big guns. You leaned in closer, amused at how he tried to get away from your touch, as if he had much space to run off to, and soon, not really to your surprise you had him trapped in the corner of your bed. You wrapped your hand around his stiff body and leaned in closer so that you could sweetly whisper against his ear. " Please tell me what's wrong my love" you dragged his nickname as sweetly as you could knowing it made him weak in the knees, and it did break through him. Hyunjin sighed and laid on his back, you glued next to him, his lips were pouted and his eyes a little bit glossy, you rubbed his side to ease him into talking .
"You don't love me" he whined quietly, you expected to hear anything but this from him if you were honest. You blinked at him confused, trying to gather your thoughts, you were both perplexed and also hollering from laughter inside. He was so ridiculous sometimes. You took a deep breath and moved your fingers to play with his soft locks, Hyunjin immediately leaned into the touch.
"My love, I love you so much I don't think you can even comprehend it! What brought this up?" Your voice was soft, you wanted him to know how sincere you were. Hyunjin sighed and put his hand on your waist, successfully bringing you closer to him, your fingers migrated and now were gently scratching his nape. Hyunjin hid his face in the crook of your neck and quietly grumbled "you didn't kiss me even once since I got here, we haven't seen each other in a while tho." No matter how hard you tried you couldn't hold it in and started cackling, this adorable as hell drama Queen! He had you worried for nothing! You even thought for a second you did something wrong.
Noticing your shaking figure, Hyunjin looked up at you with doe eyes, and his pout deepened when he saw you that you were wholeheartedly laughing. "Stop laughing I'm talking from my heart here!" His comment made you laugh even harder. "I should've gone home, you hates me" noticing how sad he sounded you got reminded that he was drunk as hell and was feeling more fragile, you wondered tho if he would remember any of this in the morning? Was it too late to grab a camera? Pouty Hyunjin was adorable.
"I'm sorry my love, you know I love you the most." Hyunjin rolled his eyes, and you knew he was playing with you, his eyes glimmered with mischief, well, two could play this game. You lowered your voice so you sounded almost sultry "Why don't you let me prove my sincerity to you then? Are you gonna let me?" You carefully watched as Hyunjin's eyes widened for a second, the big gulp and careful nod of his head.
This was all the permission you needed, you leaned in and carefully sealed your lips together, your boyfriend basically melted against you. You just loved how soft and pillowy his lips were, you always felt like you could kiss him for eternity.
The kiss started out soft, with you gently caressing his lips, his hand firm on your waist, holding you as if you were going to go away. Everything went quiet, you could only see, smell, taste, feel, hear him and so much more, he was the center of your universe. It was just you two right now, you didn't care about anything else. You had one goal only and you were dedicated. Everything about him was driving you crazy, you were sure he couldn't even grasp what, or how much you were feeling.
Your kisses quickly deepened and apart from gasping for air from time to time you two were inseparable, like two magnets pulling on each other.
The second Hyunjin leaned back for a second for some air, you decided to continue your little attack on his jaw, then his cheeks, absolutely loving the feel of his soft skin on your lips, then came his forehead, his eyelids, his beautiful nose, his chin, his neck... You wanted to cover every inch of him in kisses, to show appreciation to whichever god or gods crafted him, to show appreciation that this walking perfection was yours, his soft sighs and whines making you go even crazier.
You littered every part of skin you could reach with kisses until your lips were so numb and buzzing you got afraid they would fall off. Although, it didn't sound that bad, knowing the last thing they did was to kiss the Hwang Hyunjin senseless.
Looking at him, he looked at you with so much love and adoration, his face and neck all flushed, his breathing was quick and shallow, his hair all disheveled, his beautiful hands held you so tightly, your heart started fluttering all over again. He looked absolutely breathtaking, you wished you could engrave this moment into your mind for eternity. You smiled at him and softly grazed his cheek. "Are you satisfied with my answer my precious?" Your voice was soft, Hyunjin gleamed at you and eagerly nodded his head, and the next thing you knew you were on your back on the bed, Hyunjin above you, hugging you as tight as he could, his lips softly kissing your collarbone. "Absolutely, I love you so much beautiful, you have no idea" he pressed another kiss on your neck and then your lips with so much love and passion you just knew your feelings were returned with the same passion and vigor.

Grandkids Part 3
Tumblr media
Jessie Fleming (parent) fic
Read the previous parts here!
Warnings: none I don’t think
WC: 2.6k
A/N: this isn’t my favorite thing I’ve written but my motivation on this sort of tanked but I wanted to finish it out at least, I might write more Jessie parent fics in the future or just headcannons for parent Jessie if yall would be interested in that.
“Jessie, please, you can ask the boy questions but there’s no need to interrogate him. All that’ll do is upset Amelia.” You and Jessie are tidying up the kitchen so you can begin cooking dinner. The dinner that you’d be eating as you met your daughter’s boyfriend.
“It’s not interrogating, I just want to get to know him.” You nod at her as you start to pull ingredients from the fridge.
“Just be nice.” It was the least you could do, try and encourage your wife to not ask Nick hundreds of questions, you both wanted to know him but you didn’t want to make him uncomfortable.
The doorbell rings a minute before the proposed dinner time. Not too early but also not late, you thought to yourself, good start to the evening.
“I’ll get it!” Amelia pops up from the couch practically sprinting to the door. You smile as you watch her rush down the hallway. You remember that feeling, being young and the knocking of the door and knowing it was the person who made your heart flutter on the other side. You had that feeling with Jessie, it was sweet to see your daughter experiencing the same feelings.
“I’m going to start the grill.” Jessie says to you and you hear the back door close. Her expression as she walked out the door was blank, she didn’t look upset but she also didn’t look happy, you weren’t sure what she was feeling.
You hear muffled discussions down the hall and shortly your daughter walks back into the kitchen with Nick. He’s carrying a vase with flowers and a small other bag.
“Hi!” You say to both of them, wiping your hands on the kitchen towel and abandoning the chopping you were doing to walk over.
“Mom, this is Nick. Nick, this is my Mom.” You take in the boy’s appearance. He’s taller than your daughter with blonde hair that’s neatly styled, he has on square shaped glasses. His clothes make you feel like you’re underdressed in your own home, he’s wearing a wrinkle free button down that’s tucked into a pair of dress pants. You weren’t sure what your daughter's type was, she’d gushed over celebrities of all appearances but you’d be lying if you said you weren’t a little surprised by the boy’s nerdier appearance.
“It’s nice to meet you Nick.”
He sets down the bag and the vase and extends his hand to you. “It’s lovely to meet you as well.”
“Where’s Ma?” Your daughter swings her head around looking for Jessie.
“Outside starting the grill. She’ll be in in just a minute or two.”
“Okay.” Your daughter nods and the room falls into a slightly uncomfortable silence. You and Amelia look at each other, silently begging the other to say something. Thankfully you don’t have to because Nick starts talking.
“Is Riley here? I brought him some of those baseball cards you said he’s always making you take him to the store to buy.” He looks between you and Amelia.
“No, he’s at a birthday party but I’ll let him know you brought them for him when he’s back tomorrow.” Amelia says, taking the wrapped gift from Nick’s hands and placing it on the table.
You notice it’s now been about five minutes since Jessie left to get the grill started. Maybe she needed an extra set of hands. “I’m going to go check that your Ma doesn’t need help out there.”
You step outside to see Jessie standing in front of what is clearly a turned on grill, you can see the heat coming off of it.
“Hey, all good out here.?” You call to her from the top steps of the patio. You realize she must’ve been deep in thought as it takes her a moment to look away from the grill and up to you.
“Yeah, yeah it’s, on.” Her thumbs up relaying her message that the grill was in fact on and working.
“Then come inside, it’s got to heat up for a bit.”
“I don’t know if I can.” She looks to you quickly then back to the grill.
You step down off the stairs and move over to Jessie “What’s going on?”
“I’m scared.” She says, still not looking away from the grill.
It takes all of your might to hold in a chuckle. “Of a teenage boy?”
“No, well, sort of.” She takes a deep breath. “I’m scared I’ll be too harsh, or too cold, or rude, or something to him and then he’ll realize he doesn’t want to date someone with a parent like that and then he’ll break up with Amelia and then she’ll hate me because it’ll be all my fault.”
“Jessie, that’s not going to happen.”
“But what if it does? I can’t have my little girl hate me.” The wave in Jessie’s voice tells you she’s truly worried. Her previous argument with Amelia had left her on edge, she still felt like she had to win back your daughter’s affection. Amelia on the other hand had quickly forgotten the whole ordeal.
“She won’t, because you won’t cause him to break up with her. In fact I think you’ll like him.”
“Why’s that?”
“Well, let’s just say your daughter picks them like her Mom.” You point to yourself. “He’s nerdy like you.”
“I’m not nerdy.”
“You are, but it’s part of what I love about you. Now come on, you can’t hide out here all day.” You softly link your fingers into hers and pull her away from the grill and up the patio stairs.
You walk back in and are grateful to see the two of them in the kitchen, Amelia sitting at a barstool at the island and Nick standing a couple feet from her. They’re smiling at each other as they make conversation. You’re not sure what Jessie would’ve done had they been sitting together on the couch. They both look over at the sound of the door opening and your daughter stands up from her stool stepping toward both of you.
“Ma, this is Nick, Nick this is my other Mom, I called her Mama when I was little but now they just both get called Mom when they’re not in the same room together.”
“Hi, it’s great to meet you, I really appreciate you having me over.” Nick extends his hand to Jessie just as he did to you. You know your wife probably death gripped his hand as she shook it.
For a minute there’s an awkward silence. The four of you all standing looking at each other. “Nick, would you like something to drink? There’s water or sodas,” you try to get some form of a conversation started up between the four of you.
“Just water would be great, thank you.” You move to get him a glass and your daughter stands up beating you to the cabinet. You move back to begin chopping again and Jessie is quickly behind you. You pick up the knife and she holds her hand out. She stares at you with her best puppy eyes impression, and you give in handing over the knife. You know she just wants a task to occupy herself so she doesn’t have to worry about making small talk.
“So Nick, Amelia said you met in your calculus class?”
“Yes Ma’am, we sat next to each other for a bit at the beginning of the semester, I missed a few days for college tours and Amelia was kind enough to lend me her notes and help me catch back up, we’ve just been studying together since then. Amelia is the smartest one in our class.”
“You don’t have to ‘Ma’am’ me Nick, makes me feel old. Where are you looking into going to school?”
“I’ve looked at a lot of places, a couple in the states, UNC, University of Washington, UCLA,” You notice how Jessie’s posture straightens at the mention of her former school. “I’ve also looked at couple here. I haven’t really made any decisions yet.”
“Jessie went to school at UCLA.”
“That’s what Amelia told me. It’s a beautiful campus, did you enjoy your time these?” Nick now directs his attention to your wife. She stops chopping and turns around.
“I did, the location is perfect, city, beach, mountains all within reach. I really loved it. Good academics too!” You can practically see Jessie’s anxiety ease as she talks with the boy. “What are you planning to study?”
“Biomedical engineering is the plan, I’m considering medical school after my bachelors.”
Jessie smiles as she begins to talk about UCLAs engineering program, the two talk, you and Amelia throwing in comments here and there. It’s not long before you all move to the dining room.
Dinner goes smoothly. You learn about Nick's siblings, he’s the middle child, with an older and younger sister. You learn his hobbies, his interests. He asks you and Jessie about your careers, about how you met. You all talk about traveling, sharing the coolest places you’ve been. It’s an easy dinner. You stand up from the meal feeling like you knew Nick well. You felt a level of ease with him, he seemed like a good kid. You just hoped Jessie felt the same.
She had been relatively quiet over dinner just adding in comments here and there, it was more like you, Nick, and Amelia were having dinner.
You start to clear the dishes as everyone finishes eating. Nick immediately offers to help but you shoot him down stating he was a guest there was no need for him to help.
“Amelia, can you help your mom clean up in the kitchen?” You watch how Jessie slightly raises her eyebrows at her daughter, indicating it was less of a question and more of a request that your daughter leave the room. At the same time you send your wife a pointed look, you don’t know what type of interrogation she has planned for Nick but you hope your stare is enough to tell her to be nice.
“Well there’s the end of my relationship.” Your daughter says as she places dishes into the sink.
“No, it’s not.”
“She’s going to tear him to pieces in there.”
“She won’t.” You keep washing the dishes and handing them to your daughter to dry. She falls quiet and the two of you finish the dishes in silence. There isn’t much noise but the clinking of dishes and the running water in the sink. That is until you hear Jessie’s voice.
“No! There’s no way you can sit here and tell me Roddick is better than Federer.”
“Oh no.” You and Amelia turn to each other.
Amelia rolls her eyes. “I didn’t mention he’s a big tennis fan for this reason.”
“Well now I’d be worried about your relationship, your Ma is a huge fan of that man, she won’t let you be with someone who prefers his rival.” You shrug at your daughter, the panic on her face makes you realize she doesn’t notice the sarcasm. “I’m kidding Amelia.”
“I’m going to ask you first, because I’m a little nervous to ask Ma, can Nick stay after dinner to watch a movie? We can watch it in the basement, or living room, whatever you both are comfortable with, you’re welcome to watch it with us too if you want.”
“I’m fine with that, you still have to get your Ma’s permission though, you can’t just only ask me because you don’t want to hear her answer.”
“Okay.” As if she knew your daughter needed to speak to her Jessie comes out from the dining room.
“I can’t believe you,” she shakes her head at Amelia, “not warning me he was a Roddick fan.” She pulls your daughter into a hug. “He’s a nice kid.”
“Can he stay and watch a movie?” You watch your daughter pull out her best begging look. It’s identical to the one Jessie gave you when she took over the chopping duties earlier in the evening.
“Not in your bedroom.” Jessie shakes her head.
“I know that, I already talked to Mom, I said in the living room or basement.”
“Living room.”
“Thank you.” Your daughter places a kiss on your wife’s cheek before doing the same to you and rushing back into the dining room. She and Nick walk out seconds later and head to the couch. You notice Jessie eying them, watching how they choose to sit. They pick a respectable distance apart, each with a blanket.
They’re in their own little world, it reminds you of you and Jessie cuddled up in hotel rooms watching movies or even cuddled up watching team film together. You were watching the start of young love, it was sweet.
“Want to sit on the patio?” You suggest to Jessie.
“And leave them alone inside?” Jessie whispers.
“They’ll be fine. They deserve a little privacy, they’re adults Jessie, plus we can see the living room from the patio, Amelia knows that.”
Jessie finally agrees and you both head outside. It’s quiet to start, you just hear the sounds of the evening. Birds, the winds, the occasional car that drives by.
“He’s a good kid.” Jessie finally says.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah, he spoke highly of Amelia when I “interrogated” him as she’d say. He seems like he’s got a good head on his shoulders. He accepted the expectations I laid out to him. He promised me no grandchildren anytime soon. You hear him talking about his family, his ambitions, he seems like he was raised right.”
“Wow, look at you.” You take a sip of the glass you brought out. “He changed your opinion quickly.”
“I think he reminds me of myself. You were right, he’s nerdy, I was like him when I was his age. And while that’s somewhat eased my nerves, I still don’t trust him because I know how I was at his age. How we were at their age.” Jessie gives you a knowing look.
“We were all over eachother any time we could be.” You laugh thinking back to your hormonal teenage years and the early days of your relationship with Jessie.
Jessie smiles over at you. “To be fair we didn’t have parental supervision at camps, we had access to hotel rooms, and we barely got to see each other, we also didn’t have the risk of teen pregnancy. It also wasn’t my fault you always got me riled up over text and then I wasn’t able to even kiss you for months at a time. We had a lot of built up tension. At least they don’t have most of those things.” You smile as she rambles on as if she has to defend her teenage actions to you as if you weren’t the one right there with her.
You take a second to look into the living room, you notice they’re sitting closer together on the couch but you’re not about to tell Jessie. “Yeah, I think he’s a good kid.”
“We raised her right, she’s picked a good one.” Jessie comes to sit on the bench with you so now she’s facing the window into the living room. “Were they sitting that close before?” Jessie says pointing at the window where your daughter's shoulder was practically touching Nick’s now. Before you can stop her she’s standing making her way toward the door.
“Jessie, they’re fine.”
“Oh I know.” She tips her glass of water letting it spill onto the ground. “I’m just getting more water, I’m out.” She smiles at you. You shake your head, Jessie may like the boy but she was always going to be protective of her little girl.

Men and their Problems series by capitalismwasamistake @capitalismwasamistake - Poolverine, complete. These two fics made me Unwell (affectionate), I will most likely reread them again this week. These fics convey how these characters have the most fucked up romance while being funny and cute and soft and sharp and freaky and I LOVED EVERY WORD OF THEM. I partially blame my love of this fic on the fact that my first fandom was Hannibal. Make sure to check the tags, both stories get a bit bloody :)
Happy reading!

“i wanna be the one you think about at night”
college au!abby anderson x hyper fem!reader
abby keeps seeing this cute girl all over campus, and when she goes to the first lecture in her new class she finally gets to talk to you!! ♡
warnings: none except for abby being whipped for 30 minutes straight
wc: 735
part one of two
an: my first fic on a new blog!! how exciting ♡ so sorry this is so bad, i’m a little nervous to write 😭 also this is alittle loser!abby oops! song is flaming hot cheetos by clairo!!
not proofread!
(basketball!abby created by the lovely @elsweetheart)
grunting, as she sets down her heavy backpack, she sees you standing in the doorway
you’re the mystery girl. her mystery girl.
you’re just walking into the class, anxiously searching for a familiar face when you lock eyes with her. you’d seen abby anderson before, i mean, she’s the captain of your university’s basketball team.
you quickly scanned the room, looking for anyone else you knew, but ultimately decided on taking a seat next to her.
“hi!” you quickly smile and wave, setting down your pink tote bag at the seat right next to hers.
“oh, um hey” she says, freaking out internally “you’re y/n right? i’m abby” she asks, smiling. “yeah, i am” you laugh “you play basketball here, right?” you question
“yeah- um i do. i’m the captain actually” she clears her throat. what. the hell. she knows me?!?? stay calm abby.
“cool! i’ve always wanted to see you guys play but just haven’t really gotten a chance” you admit, sheepishly, toying with the trim of your baby pink sweater
“i mean, we have a game tomorrow night… that’s if you want to come, of course” “really? i’d love to come!” you chirp
“if you’d want to go earlier i could- i could pick you up, like when i’m on my way… like you could watch us warm up and everything. it sounds boring so if you wouldn’t wanna-“ “yes! omg of course that sounds fun!” she freezes for a second, almost shocked at the fact that you’d even want to see her play
“really?” “yeah” you grin. she’s kind of cute you think to yourself
she stands there for a second, and then fumbles for her phone “can i have your number? so i could text you all the times and… stuff” “sure!” you pull out your phone, which has a baby blue case with little bunnies on it, “here” you take her phone, typing in your number and adding your name, with a little ‘♡’ after it
she hands you your phone back, with her contact now saved “so i’ll text you tomorrow, yeah?” “yeah!” you blush, and turn to take out your laptop
that whole afternoon, she stares at your contact in her phone, drafting about 101 texts she doesn’t dare send.
unbeknownst to her, you’re doing the exact same thing.
the next day your phone ‘dings’
abby: hey, is 4:30 alright? i have to get there earlier and stuff
you: yeah that’s perfect! :) this is my dorm btw
*1 attachment*
abby: i’ll see u then
you: see u!! ♡
a heart???? does that mean anything?? she thinks, mind racing.
you panic, checking the time. “ITS ALREADY NOON?? I NEED MORE TIME TO GET READY” you squeal, alerting your roommate, dina, who was in the middle of doing some homework
“oooo getting ready for who??” “you’ll never guess. not in a million years?” “who?!” ellie, dina’s girlfriend, asks sitting up from dina’s bed “um how long have you been here?” you ask the auburn haired girl, startled. “ummm too long. anyways who is it??” “abby anderson.” you say, quietly, almost in a whisper.
“abby… anderson?” she asks, brows furrowed. “yes… sorry els i know you hate her or whatever” you wince “hate is an understatement. did you know what she said to me in freshman gym??” “ellie, please” dina warns, clearly having heard this story plenty of times
“yeah fine” she shrugs, pulling the duvet back over her head.
“okay so where is she taking you??” dina asks, turning to face you. “well… to her game tonight. it’s not a date or anything!” you say, ignoring the brunettes eye roll “that’s very boring. anyways you should wear that new jean skirt you got last week” “i was thinking of wearing that! with what top though? the pink one? “that’s really flowy?” “yeah!” “and then the white sweater over it!”
“dina. you are literally my fairy godmother” she shrugs off your compliment, “i’m just that good” she brags.
you nervously sit on the edge of your bed in the shared dorm, as ellie and dina already made their way to some party
two sharp knocks on your door echo through the room and you quickly sit up and make your way over to the door, adjusting your purse on your shoulder and you turn the knob.
the door swings open, revealing the muscular blonde in front of you.
“wow.” she breaths out

Not Too Big
something i've been playing with that i like...wanted to populate the blog with a little quick, fluffy wg fic...just a boyfriend and girlfriend realizing they want him even bigger
no major warnings, just a lot of hugging and squeezing and admiring
---
Theo gorged desperately on the pizzas he bought, chewing loudly and grabbing wildly at the next piece.
He had to get bigger. His mind screamed that it was a matter of keeping his beloved girlfriend, Charlotte, by his side.
There was no indication that she was unhappy, in fact she and him seemed to enjoy every minute together.
But…she was gone on a business trip for the next two weeks. He achingly remembered the way she ran her hand through his short blond hair and placed a kiss on his lips. She promised she would be back before he knew it.
He constantly checked her social media, staring at her pictures of the two of them, then looking at her latest posts--where his thoughts became prickly and relentless.
It was that latest picture.
Her smile was big and cordial as she stood with a big, fat man. Bigger than Theo was, and he far outsized Charlotte.
He was her coworker, and he had met him before, exchanging pleasantries. Theo had never been offended by him or anything, but every picture he saw of Charlotte with the man made him wind up tighter and tighter.
And then he snapped.
Theo was not a small man by any means, quite muscular and bulky himself, and he knew Charlotte liked him that way. He knew she liked big men, which was part of why they started dating in the first place.
They got on like a house on fire, immediately falling in love with each other and sharing hobbies and interests. Charlotte was kind and sweet and fun and endlessly attractive with beautiful, black, wavy hair and near-black eyes, deep and easy to get lost in.
He considered himself incredibly lucky to have landed her, and sometimes that translated into a bit of a need to do whatever he could to make sure she was happy. This wild train of thought was his latest attempt at this.
Though on the other hand, Charlotte was much of the same. She loved watching Theo show off his gains from the gym and would cook delicious meals after a strenuous workout. She praised him often and comforted him when he needed it. She encouraged him to reach his goals. She could rarely be seen without her hands on his skin in some way or another, always trying to be in physical contact with him.
And he…he couldn't bear to lose that.
So he had to get bigger. To his mind, it would be a surefire way to keep Charlotte around. More of him for her to touch and grab.
He ate even more furiously, his stomach starting to protest against his jeans.
He would load and bulk up tonight, cutting the rest tomorrow at the gym. He’d put these calories to work and grow.
Though…a small part of his mind didn't mind if his belly pooched out or if his muscles were padded with a nice layer of fat. It would only make him look bigger, give him more leverage to lift heavier and heavier weights, and in turn make him even bigger.
He imagined Charlotte's eyes looking him all over as she returned to him, his arms and chest pumped and heavy.
Some might call this a dirty bulk, but…bulk was bulk to Theo at this moment in time. He was desperate to fight against his spiral, and the only solution that seemed to stop his brain was preparing calories and energy to change into gains.
He would sleep soundly once the pizza was gone, knowing he’d be big for Charlotte.
***
The day of Charlotte's return arrived, and Theo struggled to button the nice shirt he had bought a few months ago. His stomach firmly fought against the buttons with every closure he managed.
He exhaled long, trying to flatten his torso enough to close up the shirt. With some effort, he managed, but in the mirror it was evidently clear he was one sudden movement away from popping the buttons off.
Perhaps his dirty bulking worked too well.
Even his arms strained in the short sleeves, the lack of stretch emphasizing their size.
He heard the doorknob start to turn and he rushed out to the living room, the shirt’s buttons creaking slightly.
He got into place, eagerly watching as Charlotte walked in, her smile wide and relieved.
“Theo…” she said happily, like music to Theo’s ears.
He rushed to hug her, sighing happily as he felt her arms wrap around and squeeze his torso.
Where she belonged.
“You look good, Theo,” Charlotte murmured, rubbing his back.
Theo's stomach somersaulted at her touch and comment, and he felt vindicated. It had worked. She was happy.
“Thought I might…work hard to bulk up a little extra for when you got back,” he admitted. “It’s surprising how much I could do in two weeks.”
“Aw, for me?” Charlotte giggled, looking up at Theo. Her cheeks were flushed pink and she gave his side a squeeze.
“Always for you.”
They hugged close again, breathing slowly and happily.
All was well again. Or so Theo thought.
“I…wanted to talk to you…a little about this, actually,” Charlotte said reluctantly, patting his stomach and then rubbing his arm.
Theo's heart dropped, immediately thinking of the worst case scenario. Her return had been amazing, what could she mean?
“Nothing bad, really!” Charlotte gasped, sensing Theo's fear. “But I just…I mean, I was thinking about it while I was gone and how you know I like how big you are…”
Theo looked at Charlotte curiously, his fear starting to dissipate a bit. She was blushing dark now, looking at her hands as she wrung them together.
“I kept thinking of you the whole trip…and how I…I’ve been wondering just how big you want to get? And if maybe…I don't know, I’m sorry–”
“Do you like this? The muscle and…the little extra?” Theo asked quietly, gesturing at himself.
“I love the muscle, but Theo…seeing you stretching this shirt–you’ve only worn it once before, and it was almost a little loose.” Charlotte laughed nervously, pushing some hair behind her ear. “If your ‘little extra’ did that…I…”
Her pause sent a shiver through Theo.
She looked at him longingly. “I want so much more.”
Theo looked at Charlotte in shock. A slow smile crept across his lips, pulling her in a tight hug.
“I…got a little jealous seeing you in those pictures with…what's his name, the big guy… Paul?” He sighed.
Charlotte let out a sad little whine. “Oh, I’m so sorry, baby.”
“No, no, it's not your fault, but…I just…wanted to be the big guy you’re always next to. I…let myself get carried away in my thoughts and just wanted to be there in his place, so badly.”
Charlotte laughed, squeezing Theo’s middle.
Theo moaned out a sigh, relishing the way her arms wrapped around him. She could barely reach her arms all the way around him.
His thoughts wandered to future possibilities. What if her arms couldn't reach totally around him at all…? If there was so much of him she’d never get bored…to lay on him at night, comfortable and warm.
“So, so badly, Charlotte…” Theo moaned in a low voice, his thoughts putting him in a warm, longing haze.
She squeezed him again, rubbing her cheek on his chest, the fabric of his shirt pulled tight and smooth over him.
Charlotte pulled away, Theo placing his hands on her hips. She trailed her fingers up the straining buttons, picking at the little bunches of fabric where the shirt closed.
She smiled, tapping the top button with her finger, looking up at Theo.
Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes were tantalizingly dark. Theo felt his own cheeks heat up as all of Charlotte's fingers now rested on the same button.
With a small pop, Charlotte skillfully pushed the button through the hole, and his shirt opened in slight relief.
He silently begged her to keep going.
Charlotte's fingers trailed down to the next button, doing the same. His shirt opened more and more eagerly with every undone button, revealing his soft skin.
She reached the final button, his pooching belly freed from the shirt.
Theo let out a sigh of relief, finally registering just how tight the shirt was.
She hummed appreciatively and ran her hands over his stomach, gently dragging her nails over his skin. She patted his stomach, making him jiggle slightly.
Theo chuckled, placing his hands on hers.
It seemed like he and Charlotte were on the same page.
“Would you…be okay with getting nice and big for me? Maybe…a little less gym time and a little more eating time with me?” She looked up at him with big, wide eyes.
Theo blushed, running his thumb over her cheek. “Something tells me you’ve given this some thought already.”
“Well…I had a lot of alone time at night. Missing you…and maybe sometimes I let my thoughts run away with me…”
“Let’s do it then. I'll make more time to eat whatever delicious stuff you cook up and then we can cuddle.”
“Um…” she started, her gaze falling nervously to his stomach.
Theo tilted his head curiously, wondering her next thought.
“I know I just unbuttoned you, but…I also…want to see you…” she paused, her voice trailing off.
“I want to see you pop the buttons off this shirt,” Charlotte quickly sputtered, her blush now reaching her ears.
Theo looked at her blankly for a moment, processing her request.
He began to belly laugh when it finally registered. He pulled her into another hug, feeling her wrap her arms around his torso under his shirt.
Her arms were cool and soothing and her cold hands sent goosebumps over his body.
“Let's make something to eat then. I'm probably only a few spoonfuls of something away from busting this shirt open, anyway.”
Charlotte responded with a low, pleased laugh, giving Theo another squeeze.
***
Theo looked at himself in the mirror hanging on their closet door, his sides actually outsizing the width of it. He bit his lip, shuffling a little uncomfortably as he placed his hands on his round, hanging belly.
He was big. Almost 450 pounds big. Bigger than he’d ever been. But it was as they had planned over two years ago. It was just…surprising to really observe himself.
He turned to the side, one hand still on the top of his belly and tracing his eyes along the sagging bottom line of his stomach. It hung almost completely over his waistline, making an apron over his hips. His pecs were now sagging breasts, connecting to his back rolls. His eyes came back up to his face, still framed by his short blond hair, but his cheeks round and full–his neck basically disappeared beneath his double chin.
Charlotte kept insisting that he was incredible. She praised his expanding waistline, all the while giving him third and fourth helpings of the decadent dinners she made almost every night.
“My arms too…” he said with a sigh, lifting and wobbling his massive, soft arms. What definition he once had was totally covered by fat. He gently squeezed his left arm with his other hand. Warm and wobbly…he gave it a gentle pat and made it shake.
“You can still move around! And really well!” he could hear Charlotte's sweet voice in his head, remembering when he asked about her thoughts on his weight so far after he had found he had outgrown his favorite shirt.
“You're in great shape,” he remembered her voice cooing as she gently rubbed her hands on his stomach, uncovered by the outgrown shirt. That would have been debated by almost anyone else, but from Charlotte's mouth, he treated it like gospel.
Oh, and he loved that feeling. Her cool hands on his always-warm skin. The way her dark eyes sparkled as she admired him, when he accepted the next serving of dinner she would offer him.
And she was right, he was still able to get around. While his walk had become a waddle, he still considered himself pretty strong, helping her around the apartment with the heavy lifting chores--under the couch, moving the tables, things like that. He would only rarely be out of breath, and he was as sweaty as he usually got when he used to regularly exert himself at the gym…
Though, admittedly Charlotte insisted he stay seated and just relax while she took care of him, especially after a big meal. She didn't want her enormous prize of a man to have to worry about what she called ‘little things.’
When he sat, he took up almost all of the couch, Charlotte often squeezing herself next to him and absently jiggling his rolls as they watched a movie or show and snacked. His huge legs spread to make room for his giant belly and he found himself resting his arms on it. He had to admit that he was making a good place to set bowls within reach to munch from.
He let out a short exhale as his legs were starting to tremble from the effort of standing in place and observing himself for so long, his breathing starting to become heavy. He waddled himself around a little, watching ripples shake his huge rolls and belly. It took a moment for the shaking to settle, and Theo took a deep, satisfied breath.
But…besides all that, the clothes were really the only problem, and he was often in the comfy sweats and roomy athletic wear she had bought for him.
He was happy to let her spoil him too. Rough days at work? Delicious food. Tons of snacks with movies. The belly rubs, the increased intimacy…
She had always been loving and sweet, but it seemed like lately she was always running her hands over him and having increasingly lingering hugs. He definitely noticed the times she gave his sides a long, jiggling squeeze, but…man, it felt so good.
She knew all the best places to grab and squish, and she knew how to make him feel like he waa a god. Her hands traveled over every roll and curve he developed, her eyes sparkled every time he stepped on the scale.
She's would lovingly rub his huge belly, gently slapping and wobbling him around. It felt so good, and he would moan happily as she played. And when they went to bed?
Theo smiled smugly at himself, thinking of how excited Charlotte got almost every night when she watched him wobble himself to bed and heavily land himself on the edge. The little pink and purple hickies all over his covered chest were evidence of such.
Everything he had been afraid of losing that one night Charlotte came home was nothing but a distant dream now. Charlotte was totally his and he was all hers.
And you know?
Maybe he actually wasn't that big. Sure, it was the biggest he had ever been, but his girlfriend loved him more than ever.
He grabbed his belly and gave it a shake up-and-down. It bounced and jiggled and he felt himself smile with surprising satisfaction.
And he couldn't deny he liked it too. He wasn't enormously big, but he liked being the biggest guy in the room now. The way everyone acknowledged when he entered, his girlfriend holding tight to his huge arm. Her affectionate belly pats when they talked to their friends. Doorways were smaller, seats struggled to contain him, and he eclipsed Charlotte with his huge body.
And it was fine. He wasn't too big. He could still walk, still go out with Charlotte–it would even be fine if he got a little bigger. She always found a way to help him fit through and into places. He wore his huge, fat body well and Charlotte loved it. What would a few more pounds be?
His sweet girlfriend would be back soon with bigger clothes and they could settle down for another nice meal. He was feeling especially hungry now too. Maybe she picked up a giant meal from his favorite barbecue place? He figured he would call her and put in a request if she had nothing else planned.
He smiled at himself in the mirror, his chubby face grinning back at him. He hefted his belly up again and let it drop, watching it jiggle.
“I’m not too big. I’ve still got room to grow,” he said to himself with a pleased smile.

This Is Kinda Nice Too (4)
So it's been a while since I posted for this prompt, but I was looking through some unfinished fics and stumbled across this. Hoping to now move this fic into my 'finished' folder, so here we are. Previous parts are linked below for context but can be read as a stand alone.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
~*~
“I gotta ask a favour,” says Melissa as she sits in her usual seat at she and Barb’s table.  “Dessert.  I’m just not gonna have time.”
Barb’s eyebrows raise as the red head starts to reel off all of the prep she needs to do for your dinner date.  “Girl, you have got to calm down.  The girl isn’t expecting a five star banquet.  She’s going to be giddy over the fact she’s spending time with you, not nitpicking at your food.”
Melissa rolls her eyes.  “That was all fun in the forest but this is real.  I just wanna do this right.”
“You’re not going to be able to relax and enjoy yourself if all you’re worrying about is the food,” points out the kindergarten teacher.
“I’m not worrying about the food!” exclaims the red head.  “Just the lack of time to make the food…and the dessert.”
With a sigh, Barb finally concedes.  “Fine, I’ll make dessert, but you owe me!”
*
Friday after school finds Melissa in the doorway to your classroom.  “Hey.  Just wanted to check you’re still good for tomorrow?”
“Seven o’clock sharp,” you grin.  “I can’t wait.  Is there anything I can bring?”
You watch as she pushes off the doorframe, sauntering up to you and effectively stealing your breath in the process.
“How about you and that cute smile?” she smirks, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to your lips, and acting far braver than she feels.
“I can do that,” you say quietly, your grin only widening.
*
Standing outside Melissa’s door, you take a deep breath, loosening your death grip on the flowers you brought.  You know she had said you didn’t need to bring anything, but you couldn’t just turn up empty handed.  And if you’d also picked up a little box of the chocolates you knew Melissa liked, well, you were only being polite.
Knocking on the now familiar door, you feel your heart rate increase at the sound of approaching footsteps from within.  As the door is opened to reveal the red head, you can’t help but let your eyes wander over her curves.  “You look amazing,” you tell her as she steps back to allow you in.  “Even more than usual.”
Her cheeks pink in a blush as you hold out the flowers to her, smiling as she shyly takes them.
“I told you you didn’t have to bring anything.”
“I was hardly going to turn up empty handed to our first date,” you smile.
She ducks her head.  “I’m gonna go fix these, you know where the coats go.”  Leaving you to hang up your bag and coat, she retreats to the kitchen, trying to calm her nerves as she opens up the flowers and sets them in a vase.  She looks up as you enter the kitchen.  “You scrub up pretty well yourself.”
“Had a good reason to put in some effort,” you reply, putting the chocolates you had brought down by the vase of flowers.
She frowns.
“Just in case my sweet smile wasn’t quite cutting it,” you shrug.
“These are my favourites,” she says quietly as she looks more closely at the box.  Not some dollar store number or some last-minute purchase from the corner store.
“Well I wasn’t going to bring you ones you don’t like.”
She closes the space between you, her fingers skimming down your arms before pulling you into a hug.  “Thank you.”  She pulls back, blinking to try and hide the tears that have gathered in your eyes at how thoughtful you’ve been.  “Now, you go sit and I will get things plated up.”
*
Dinner is better than you could have hoped.  The table is set with candles, casting the room in a romantic light and making Melissa’s hair glow.  It reminds you of that first night by the fire, when things started to shift between the two of you.  The conversation and laughter flows between you, and you realise although you’ve had a crush on her forever, you couldn’t have done this all those months ago.  The friendship that’s grown between the two of you has allowed you to be you with her.
Her eyes tear up as you tell her as much.  “It’s been a two way street, kid.  You’ve never made me feel like I had to be anyone else with you, like who I was wasn’t enough,” she admits feeling brave in the face of your admission.  “There are…things I usually hide when I meet people.  Things you learned and you didn’t pity me, think less of me.”
“Why would I think any less of you for anything I’ve learned about you?” you frown.  “You’re amazing.  And I mean that.  You are…so strong and capable and just…amazing,” you finish.  “And I should say beautiful too.”
Cheeks once again flushed from more than just the heat, she stands from the table, pressing a kiss to the top of your head as she passes your chair.  “Got room for dessert?”
You close your eyes at the brief contact, a smile on your lips.  You don’t make to follow her, giving her a few moments to herself.  “Always,” you tell her.  “You know I have a sweet tooth.”
When she returns, she places a plate down in front of you.  You frown, looking down at the plate.  You know Melissa.  You know her cooking, and this, this doesn’t look like it.  “This doesn’t feel like a Schemmenti recipe.”  That wasn’t to say, however, it didn’t taste good.
“That’s because it’s a Barbara Howard special,” answers the red head.  “Honestly, that woman is a whizz at baking.”
“You told Barb about this?” you ask, this somehow catching you by surprise.
“Sweetie, Barb has had to put up with me having a breakdown over the menu, my timings, my prep, the whole nine yards the whole week,” laughs Melissa.
“I didn’t realise,” you breathe, feeling guilty at the fact you’d somehow missed her semi-permanent state of panic.  “Sorry!  I wanted this to be fun for you too.”
She smiles sweetly at you.  “It has been.  I just…wanted to make it special.”
You put your spoon down.  “Melissa, I meant it when I said this could be pizza and beers and it would be special to me, because it’s you.  This has been great, and I feel like I’ve been treated like a queen, but you know I don’t need all this, right? I was happy sitting in the middle of the woods holding your hand.”
For what feels like the hundredth time that night, Melissa finds herself blushing.  She had been happy sitting in the middle of the woods holding your hand too.  “If you wanna date me, you gotta live with me being a little extra sometimes.”
You grin back at her across the table.  “Oh, I’m good with that.  And yes, just to be clear, I do wanna date you.  Properly.”
Helping clear the plates after dessert you both move to the sofa to finish your wine.  The wine glasses are quickly forgotten on the table, however, as her lips find yours.  As her hands clutch you to her, you’re in heaven.  Her lips find your neck and you realise you’re done for.
She pulls back as a whimper leaves your throat, her pupils blown as she takes you in.  You’re flushed and panting.  “I barely touched you,” she breathes in awe.
“You have no idea what you do to me,” you reply.
She smirks.  “Know what I’d like to do to you.”
This has you both blushing.  She takes your hands, linking your fingers together.  “I want this.  You.  All of it, but I don’t want to rush things.”
“Baby steps?”
“Maybe not quite that slow and innocent,” she smirks, leaning in to kiss you once more.  “Stay?” she asks, the word whispered against your lips as she rests her forehead against your own.  “I want to share an actual bed with you.”
*
Upstairs, you take turns in the bathroom.  You find yourself smiling at your reflection in the mirror as you brush your teeth.  The borrowed oversized sleep shirt you wear is soft and worn.  You’ve stayed over at Melissa’s house before, but in the guest room in your own nightwear.  This is a whole new level of intimacy.
Turning the light off as you leave the bathroom, you find the red head already in bed.  Slipping beneath the covers, there’s a polite distance between the two of you as you regard each other in the dim streetlight filtering through the gap in the curtains.  Finally, Melissa breaks the silence with a sigh and a rolling of her eyes.  She shuffles across the mattress until she can curl into your side, much as she did that night in the woods.
“Tell anyone I’m a koala and I’ll have to kill you,” she mumbles against your chest.
You can’t help but laugh at the half-hearted threat.  “Worth it.”
She leans up and glares at you in the dim light.
In return, you push yourself up to press a kiss to her lips.  “Fine, my lips are sealed so long as you promise to keep putting yours on them.”
“Deal,” she smiles, pressing one last lingering kiss to your lips before settling back against your chest.
*
The next morning you’re woken by Melissa’s message tone.  She grumbles incoherently as she blindly reaches for the device on her bedside table.  Locating the offending item, she brings it close to her face where she can see it.  “Barb,” she informs you, turning the phone so you can read the screen.
Still sleepy and warm, even this small action makes you smile.  That she’s comfortable enough to let you read the message from her friend.  Barb is asking how the night went.  “I’d say it went pretty well.”  So you got to wake up with Melissa at an actual bed, but it appeared Barb was still to be your alarm.
Melissa’s lips curl up in a smile.  “Yeah, it did.”  She taps the screen of her phone, holding it above the two of you and taking a picture.  Bringing her phone back down, you both look at the screen, at how happy you both look, curled up together.  “You okay if I send this?”
“Long as you are,” you reply, pressing a kiss to the top of her head where she rests against your shoulder.  Everything is covered and you’re both in PJ’s.  It’s almost tasteful.
The reply that comes back is quick.  Melissa laughs at the almost expected prudish reply.  She types out a reply, telling Barb to look at the picture again and take her mind out of the gutter.  A few moments later, her phone chimes again.
This time, she smirks, turning the phone to allow you to see it more easily.  You read the typed words, saying you both look very happy and she hopes you enjoy dessert.  You frown at the tense.  Barb is usually very particular in what she says.  “Is she?”
“Implying what you think she is?” laughs the red head.  “I think she might be.”  She tosses her phone back on the bedside table, shifting until she can look up at you, her chin resting on your shoulder.  “Morning.”
“Morning,” you smile.
“You know,” she drawls.  “This.  Waking up with you in an actual bed.  This is kinda nice too.”
“Careful,” you warn, taking in her face in the early morning light, her curls spilling messily over her shoulders.  “A girl could get used to it.”
A soft smile tugs at her lips.  “Maybe she should?”

PART 7
You never used to mind working the later shift on Friday nights, but ever since you had starting dating Darry, you dread the time spent away. Knowing he was at his house and you could be there too made you antsy and you looked at the clock more than usual.
The door jingles and you look up from organizing receipts when you hear someone say your name.
“Sally?!” You exclaim, coming out from around the register to greet your old high school friend. It had been over a year since you last saw her, she got married right out of high school to an army man and moved up to Kentucky.
“I meant to write, I’m back for a week to visit with my folks. Needed to pick up a few things,” she gestures to the aisles. You catch up for a few minutes and help her find what she needs.
You are ringing her up when the door chimes again and you glance up to see Darry walking in. Sally gives you a not so subtle look as he approaches the register, she knew about your old crush on Darry and you know she’s going to go wild when she finds out you are dating.
“Hey baby,” he says when he approaches, leaning against the side of the counter and smiling. He glances over at Sally, whose mouth is wide open as she looks between the two of you.
“Sally, you remember Darry Curtis,” You awkwardly wave between the two of them.
“Hi Sally,” Darry voice is smooth, a clear contrast to yours. Sally closes her mouth, but her wide eyes turn to you.
“Seems I ain’t the only one forgetting to write with important news!” You groan. “Oh don’t you groan at me, missy, I was there when your Curtis crush started-“
“Curtis crush?” Darry raises one eyebrow and now your face is really heating up.
“And it was like pullin’ a tooth to get you to talk about it, but you’d blush even harder than you are now-“
“Alright, here’s your change.” You shove a few coins into her hand. “I’ll ring your parents tomorrow, we’ll catch up this week, I swear it.”
She leaves and you turn to Darry, who is smiling like a cat with a canary, but he opens his arms and you go right into his embrace.
--
It had become a little tradition on Fridays to have a date night in, and you felt spoiled by the effort Darry always put into it. He poured you a glass of wine and went about heating up your portion of baked chicken, potatoes and green beans. Darry always ate with his brothers, but made sure to save enough for you, and you made sure to always share some of your plate with him.
You had been dating Darry a few months now, but you still hadn’t gotten fully used to the feeling of being taken care of.
After dinner, you snuggle into his side on the old couch and lace your fingers through his. Steve and Soda had gone out and Pony was working on his story in his room.
“I think I need to repaint the kitchen.” Darry says, his thumb tracing circles on the spot where it met your hand.
“A nice light blue would be pretty.” You offer and he presses a kiss to the side of your head. You fight the urge to turn and capture his lips – you had already been caught making out once tonight by Ponyboy, you didn’t need to make him blush any harder.
“You wanna help me pick out the color?” Darry murmurs and you nod, snuggling closer.
“I’ve always wanted to paint a room.” You tell him. “My house is all white, nothing pretty going on. When I was little I would ask my parents if we could paint them, but they always said no. Once,” You giggle a little. “Once I took crayons to my bedroom wall and started coloring it.
“How much trouble did you get in?” Darry asks, chuckling.
“None, actually. I moved the vanity so it covered it. It’s still there.” Darry looks down at you and smiles.
“Smart girl.”
“They didn’t come check on me a lot anyway,” You say and Darry presses another kiss to the side of your head. “When I was little, sometimes my mom would have to take me on her jobs. She cleaned houses for some Soc families. I always knew I wouldn’t have a big old mansion on the West Side. But there’s these neighborhoods you pass on the way – like near the high school?” Darry nods.
“More middle-class kind of ones. We do jobs there.”
“I always thought those are nice. Nicer than what’s on the East Side, at least. I would look at them from the bus window and the yards were all kept up and it just seemed…safe.”
“I like those houses too.” Darry says and you sit for another minute, just holding hands. A door creaks open and footsteps come down the short hallway.
“I’m coming in the living room. I better not be scarred for life again.” He announces and Darry rolls his eyes.
“Smartass.” He answers and Pony rounds the corner with a knowing grin.
“Can we watch a tv show? My hand is cramping up,” he lifts his right hand and gives it a shake.
“Sure.” Darry slides over and Pony sits on his other side, leaning in close and Darry tucks his other arm around him.
You knew Darry still worried sometimes about not being able to take you out as often as he would like, or the fact that your time together often included at least one of his brothers, but the truth was you loved it.
You loved how Soda would turn up the radio when he was doing dishes and dance around so much it would take twice as long for him to finish them.  You loved that Ponyboy would sometimes ask you to check over your history homework since he knew it was your favorite subject. Even with everything the Curtis family had gone through, the house was still warm and bursting with love and you considered yourself lucky to be a part of it.
Pony fell asleep not twenty minutes after he sat down, and Soda and Steve came home tracking in so much snow that you though Darry was going to make them sleep outside. You talked with them for a few minutes while Darry walked a half-asleep Ponyboy to bed, and then Darry begrudgingly took you home.
It was freezing, but that never stopped Darry from walking you right up to the door. While you both pushed the line in private, at his core Darry was still a gentleman.
But not too much of a gentleman to give up pushing you against the front of the house and kissing you senseless.
“I hate sayin’ goodnight to you.” He murmurs into your neck and you sigh.
“I know the feeling.” He wraps his strong arms around you one more time before walking you to the door. His brows furrow.
“Doesn’t your dad usually leave a light or two on?”
“Only because he doesn’t remember to turn them off.” You reach into your pocketbook for your house key.
“He’ll be home in what, an hour or two?” Darry is still looking around. He had made it clear many times he does not like dropping you off at an empty house.
“Usually about that.” You hold off on opening the door and instead sneak one last kiss from your boyfriend. “I’ll see you tomorrow?” You two had plans to go to dinner and for a drive after you freshen up from your day shift.
“I love you,” Darry says, as earnestly as he did the first time. And just like the first time, it still nearly knocks you off your feet.
“I love you too. Drive home safe.”
The wind whips through the house when you open the door and you hear a few papers rustling on the table. You hope your neatly piled bills aren’t scattered all over the floor.
You do your usual bedtime routine – change into pajamas, brush your teeth, use a cold cream and washcloth to take off your makeup. It’s quiet but peaceful, and you are nearly snuggled into bed when you remember you forgot to get a glass of water.
You walk to the kitchen and catch the corner of a paper from under the table. When you pick it up, you see it’s not a bill but a note from your father:
In some trouble. Out of town. Lock the doors.
You read it again before an icy feeling starts to crawl down the back of your neck. You never locked the doors when your dad was out, he usually came home so loaded he couldn’t open them with a key. With the note clutched in your hand, you hurry to the front door and lock it.
You can feel your heart beating a little faster and you go back to your bedroom and try to take deep breaths.
You glance at the clock – nearly one in the morning. You’re having an internal debate on whether to call Darry when you hear glass smashing from the front of the house.
You hear a thunk, and then two male voices arguing, one sounding further than the other. Another smash of glass and the voices are slightly louder.
“You think he skipped town?”
“Better not have, boss will have a cow.  Now find that money.”
There’s movement and shuffling and the terror that has gripped you since the first sound of breaking glass suddenly propels you into action. You grab your pocketbook from the nightstand and shove your feet into slippers before opening your bedroom window as quietly as you can.
You hear more banging, and it’s getting closer. You hoist your leg over the windowsill and climb out. Your back leg hitches on the windowsill and you fall the short distance to the ground, landing on patch of ice and gravel.
You ignore the throbbing in your right arm and without another look back, you run like hell.

(But fr, your writing was so so good and I’ve read it like 5 times now lmfao)
As you wish my friends,,, Bully!Schlatt Part three (sorry this was late. I was sick than had to finish finals,,,) neway
Part One > Part Two > Part Three
Tumblr media
The next day, you expected a text from Schlatt. He had texted you good morning on Sunday, then following the library situation he texted you, then after practice he texted you, when he went to bed he texted you. You thought he would have texted you good morning today, too. You brushed it off. He’s only had your number for 48 hours, and it’s not like you were dating or anything. Plus, you were headed to the class you shared with him. Maybe that’s why he didn’t text. He knew he would see you.
Yeah. That’s what you went with.
Schlatt wasn’t at the table when you walked in. Usually, he sits there waiting for you. Shrugging it off, you sit down at the table, pulling out all of your things and checking your phone to see if he sent anything, even though you knew it hadn’t buzzed yet. You sigh and as you look up; you see Schlatt walk past your table, going to sit somewhere in the back. You watch him settle down as you feel your heart settle down into your stomach. He doesn’t look at you, he just focuses on the smart board in the front of the room. You smoother the pain before also focusing on the board and blinking away the tears filling your eyes. The lesson goes on forever. You swear you can feel him staring at the back of your head, but you’re too afraid to let yourself hope. The moment the professor calls class, you are out of your seat and rushing home. When the front door closes behind you, you let yourself cry.
Classes for the rest of the day can wait.
You say the same thing on Tuesday, on Wednesday you justify not going so you don’t have to see him again. Every time your phone buzzes, your heart breaks a little more because it’s still not Schlatt.
There is a knock on your front door and your heart jumps with hope. You wipe your eyes and take a deep breath before opening the door. On the other side is Ash.
“Zach told me Schlatt has been weird at practice so he sent me here to see-” She looks up at you from digging in her purse. “What’s wrong?” Her simple question sets you off again. You feel your eyes fill up once again and she asks if she can come in. You nod, turning to sit back on the couch. She puts her bag down and sits next to you. “Y/n, what happened?”
“It shouldn’t matter,” you sob. “We weren’t even dating.” Ash makes a sad sound of understanding.
“It’s hurting you like this. It fucking matters.” She says firmly. She grabs tissues from her purse and hands you the pack. “Do you want to tell me about it?”
“I- I don’t,” you stutter. “I don’t know if I can. Some stuff happened.” Ash flashes you a look of pure anger and you quickly correct. “Some very consensual stuff happened.” She sighs with relief.
“I am an adult. I’ve probably read worse, done worse.” She nudges your shoulder and you laugh lightly.
You explain to her everything that happened. The drive from the game, dinner, the drive home, how he kissed you in front of your door, the library (she made an amusing squeal as you told her the story before she whispered ‘we’re supposed to be mad at him shush’ to herself). How he pretended you didn’t exist this morning.
“What a dick. What the fuck.” Ash was angry, and you envied the fact that she could be. You wanted to be angry with him, but all you felt was hurt and embarrassment. She is silent for a moment, clearly pondering something. “I’ve decided you’re coming with me on tomorrow.” You look at her, confused. She rolls her eyes and sighs. “Sport guy parties are always on Thursday and the baseball team is going to be there.” You shake your head, disagreeing with her, and she only smiles wide and nods. “You are going to look hot, and show that fucker what he missed out on.”
“Ash, I can barely think of him without sobbing, let alone going to a party and trying to pretend I’m doing better than I am.”
“You will, because you are.” She stood up. “Here is my number just in case you need. I’ll be here at 9P.” She leans down and kisses your forehead. “You are beautiful, you are kind, you are better.” She picks up her bag and walks to the door. She blows you a kiss and walks out. You smile genuinely for the first time in a few days.
Thursday night comes faster than you expected it to. You feel great and, according to Ash’s reaction when she saw you, you look great too.
She leads you to the kitchen, where she pours you a drink. The music is pounding against your skull and the already small enough house is crowded with too many people. Ash taps your shoulder and leans to your ear.
“Zach just texted me he is here. Are you good if I go find him fast?” You smile and nod, telling her it’s fine even though you’re dreading being alone here. She kisses your check and leaves to find her boyfriend. Not knowing if Schlatt is here or going to be is driving you crazy. You think you see him every time a tall brunette moves in the corner of your eye. Your fingers itch to text him, your heart agreeing, saying that it’s the perfect opportunity to try, but you ignore them both and move through the crowd. You hope that in your aimless crowd managing you find the bathroom, or just a quiet enough space to take a breath.
You spot a hallway with little people and make your way that way. As you turn the corner, your heart sinks. A white blonde girl has Schlatt pushed against a wall with her lips kissing at his neck. Schlatt is mumbling something to her with one hand on her shoulder and another at her waist. You stand there and stare without meaning to. The girl spots you first, saying something you can’t make out between the heartbeat rushing in your ears, the music pounding into your skull, and battling to not let yourself throw up. You push your way back through the crowd, this time not caring to be polite, just wanting to get out.
You eventually find the front door and push out, letting the cooler outside air soothe you. You send a text to Ash letting her know you left and not to wait for you. Holding your arms against your stomach, you walk a direction you think is towards your house. Someone is calling after you, but the noise gets lost chaos of your head.
“Y/n!” the voice yells as a car pulls up beside you, rolling slowly to keep up with your pace. “Please get in the car.” It’s Schlatt. You glance at him, watching as he shifts his focus from you to the road, then back to you. You shake your head and keep walking, looking straight in front of you. He calls your name again. “Where are you even going?”
“Home.”
“Well, your place is in the opposite direction.” You stop walking and take a deep breath. Then turn on your toe and start walking the aforementioned direction. “Jesus Christ.” You hear him yell. His car makes a U-turn on the street. “Come on,” he says harshly. “Get in the damn car.”
“No.” You yell, quickening your pace. Maybe if he acted like he cared half of this much earlier this week, none of this would have happened, maybe. You walk past the house party again with Schlatt still trailing you and calling your name. He is getting more and more frustrated the more you ignore him, but every time you look at him, you only see that blonde girl.
“Fuck!” you hear him yell as you walk into the nearby quad; you knew it was slightly dangerous to cut through here but you just needed to get away from him, and it was well lit enough. A car door slams and you hear his calling of your name continue. “Please, just listen to me for one goddamn minute?” He continues to yell.
“No,” You turn to face him. “No, I won’t you know why?” Schlatt is silent as you yell at him. “You ignored me all week. Which, yeah, would hurt either way but after-” Your voice cracked as the sadness you pushed down finally came rushing back to the surface. “After what we did, you ignored me.” Schlatt flinches and tries to say something, but you hold up a finger. “Then when I finally get myself together enough to go out into the public,” You point somewhere in the general direction of the party house. “One of the first things I see is a girl all over you, and now I feel crazy because we weren’t together, so it shouldn’t bother me.” You sob and Schlatt is just staring at you, but you keep going, glad to finally say this. “I feel crazy. I feel cheap. I feel used.” Your voice is hoarse and your throat is sore from the yelling. And Schlatt is just staring at you. The quad is silent, even the crickets and cicadas listening.
“I’m sorry.” Schlatt’s voice cracks as tears flood to his eyes. “I didn’t mean-” He rubs his face and runs his hands through his hair. “I never meant to make you feel that way, any of those ways.” He takes a step towards you and you take a step back. “And Nic- And she I didn’t want that,” he rubs his neck as if trying to wipe her away. “She has been after me months and I’ve been telling her I was interested in someone else.” His eyes lock with yours. “I am interested in someone else, and that was me trying to get her off.”
“Then why?” You plead. “Why ignore me like that?” Schlatt presses his lips together and runs his hands through his hair again.
“Because I thought that if I ignored it, it would go away. That if I acted like it didn’t matter, then it wouldn’t.” You scoff and turn to walk away again, but Schlatt quickly adds, “I thought that if I pretended I wasn’t falling in love with you, I could convince myself that was the truth.”
You stop walking and let his words sink into your brain. You looked back towards him.
“Please don’t say anything.” Schlatt closes his eyes and inhales. “Just please let me take you back home.” You nod. He reaches for your hand and you grab it. He leads you back to his car and opens the door for you when you get there. You climb in and take a deep breath. The smell of him completely envelops you. Tears come to your eyes as you let yourself realize how much you missed him. As he enters the car, he sees the tears.
“Oh sweetheart,” Schlatt grabs your cheeks and wipes the tears away with his thumbs. “I’m so sorry.” You silently nod and he drives to your place.
When you get to your apartment, he walks you to your door. It is a bittersweet reminder of that very first night. You insert the key to your door and push it open. Schlatt puts his hand on your shoulder and calls your name.
“I really am sorry.” His eyes have tears in them again. You grab his hand and pull him lightly through your door. Schlatt resists for a minute before letting you bring him inside.
“Sit,” You point to the couch. “I missed you or whatever.” He smiles lightly, rubs his eyes, and sits down. “Can I get you a drink?” Schlatt nods and clears his throat.
“Water, please?”
“Coming right up, make yourself comfy.” You make your way to the kitchen and grab a glass of water for him. You take a deep breath before moving back near the couch and handing him the glass before sitting next to him. Schlatt takes a sip and hums thankfully.
“I know it’s my fault,” he puts the glass down on the table in front of him. “But I really, really missed you this week.” His arm drapes against the back of the couch resting behind your head. You let a breath that mimics a sarcastic laugh. You pinch his side and he yelps before rubbing it with the hand not behind you.
“There now we’re even.” You say through giggles. Schlatt laughs and smiles widely; you feel your heart thump against your ribs. He meets your eyes once he calms down.
“One more time, I am sor-”
Your lips against his cuts him off. He kisses back almost instantly, the hand on the back of the couch moving to rest on the back of your head. You pull away slightly.
“No more of that. I said we were even.” Schlatt smirks at your comment before pulling you back into a kiss. You both lose yourselves in the kiss, completely enveloped in each other. You bite his lip lightly and he groans as he does you move down to his neck. Kissing and nipping it, making sure that in the morning if that girl came near, Schlatt would know who he wanted there, who got to be there. Schlatt pulled you over into his lap, but as you brought your leg to straddle him, you knocked the glass of water on to the floor.
Both Schlatt and you stare at it for a moment before bursting into laughter. You lean your head on Schlatt’s shoulder before standing up.
“I’ll clean this up.” He stands up from the couch. “Where are the towels?” You point to the linen closet as you pick the glass up and put it into the sink. Schlatt had moved back to the puddle in the meantime, laying the towel down and trying to mop up the water.
“Schlatt,” You call to him. He hums in response, still focused on cleaning up. You call his name again and he looks up at you. “The floor can wait.” You reach out your hand and he grabs it. Schlatt looks at you, confused, before you walk backwards to your bedroom. You watch as a smile comes to his face as he understands where you’re leading him.
As you both cross the door into your bedroom, he kisses you again. Except this time it’s harder and messier, his teeth biting at your lip and his hands in a bruising grasp at your hips. His thumbs dip under the hem of your shirt, grazing the skin there.
“May I?” He asks, pulling at the shirt. You whisper a ‘yes’ and he pulls the shirt over your head and throws it towards some corner of your room. His hands explore the new skin as his lips explore down to the skin of your neck. You moan lightly as his lips and hands meet near your collar bone. He thumbs at the front edge of your bra.
“This too?” he asks and you nod. He kisses your lips again as his hands move behind to your and he unlocks it and lets it drop. “Holy fucking christ,” He mumbles something before his hands move to grab them.
Schlatt walks the both of backwards until you hit the edge of the bed. You sit and he kneels down in front of you and his hands drag up to meet the waistband of your bottoms. He asks for permission again and you grant it before he pulls everything down, leaving you bare in front of him.
He uses his big hands to grab your knees and pull them apart and cursing under his breath as he looks at you. His lips replace his hands as slowly he kisses up your left thigh all the way to your hip before moving back down and repeating it on the other side. You quickly get impatient as he keeps getting close to your apex but never touching it.
“Schlatt please,” you plead and he looks up at you from between your thighs.
“Yes ma’am,” He smirks before diving nose first into you. He licks from your slit before moving his tongue to your clit. He moves slowly but speeds up as he hears you moan. As his tongue laps at you, one of his fingers enters you slowly. He thrusts it in and out a few times before adding a second one. With his finger messaging your walls and his tongue on your clit, you cum fast and hard. Schlatt works you through it, letting you come down before he removes his fingers and face leaves you.
“I have been dreaming of that since the library.” He licks his fingers before using the inside of his elbow to wipe the rest of you off his mouth. His face is red and his eyes are dark and glistening. You grab his cheeks and pull him up to you, kissing him. His lips taste slightly bitter as your slick still sticks to his mouth. As you kiss him, you reach your hands under his shirt, pushing it up. Understanding the silent command, he breaks from the kiss to pull it off, adding it to the pile of discarded clothing. You drag your hands down his chest, admiring him before your hands dip down to palm him through his pants. Schlatt groans at the euphoric relief of pressure. You undo his belt and pants button, pushing down his pants and underwear as far as you could, then letting him pull the rest of his pants off. You move your hands down to his cock, beginning to jerk him off, but he stops you.
“No, no, this is me making up for everything.” He says, “move up and lay back. Let me take care of you.” You smile gently and push yourself up on the bed. Schlatt moves on top of you, using one of his arms to hold his weight and the other to rub circles on your hip. “You’re so beautiful,” he kisses you quickly. “You know that, right? You know I think you are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen?” You turned your head away from him, embarrassed, but he used the hand on your hip to turn your face back to him. “Look at me, I’m serious.” You only can nod at the sudden sternness in his voice. “I’ll repeat it well past the point that you believe it, too.” He kisses you as he moves his cock towards your entrance. “You sure?”
“Yes. Schlatt, please, fuck.”
“That is the anticipated point, yes.” He smirks before pushing into you slowly. You moan and wince at the intrusion. He stops as he fully enters you, letting you adjust.
“Move, fuck, please move.” You beg. He groans and thrusts in and out of you. You moan as his thumb rubs circles against your clit. As he brings you closer to your edge, your walls vise around him, causing his pace to falter.
“Baby,” he says through gritted teeth. “You’re gripping me so tight I can’t-”
“Then don’t.” You moan, causing Schlatt to pull out of you and cum all over your stomach. His thumb, however, quickly gets back to work on your clit, making you cum again. You both just lay there panting for a moment, catching your breaths. He stands up and pulls his underwear on before leaving the room quickly to grab and wet a towel. When he reenters the room, he wipes you down and cleans his cum off of your stomach. Once you’re cleaned up, Schlatt grabs his shirt off the floor and pulls it over your head and climbs into bed next yo you.
He lifts an arm up, inviting you to come lay on his chest, and you happily do. Schlatt kisses the top of your head as comfortable, homely, and tired silence fills your bedroom. You play with his fingers as your brain shuts down for the night.
“You know,” you say, he sleepily hums into your hair. “I think i’m falling in love with you too.”

"Sorry again for bleeding on your pants."
Yuu stood in their dorm’s entrance hallway, Azul at the door with his ruined slacks in hand and wearing a pair of sweats borrowed from Yuu.
Azul had spent the night after Crewel’s brief lecture. The fur-wearing teacher had given Yuu another pain relief potion before leaving, stating he was going to get something longer-lasting for them by tomorrow. Azul had elected to stay, acting as emotional support and bringing Yuu whatever they needed from elsewhere in the house.
"No issue, my pearl. The twins have ruined more than one outfit for me, a little blood isn't the end of the world." He mutters under his breath, looking at the sweatpants with a pinched expression. But he turns to smile at them, “I’m only sorry that I can’t stay with you longer. But, I’ve already missed one productive day at the lounge, and I fear what will happen if I miss another. Let alone leave Jade and Floyd to their own devices any longer…”
"So what do I owe you for the emotional turmoil then?" Yuu smiles lazily, eyes lidded as they watch Azul place a hand over his chest.
"Why I could never ask for anything in return. You're in such a delicate position, it'd be cruel to give you a payment plan now for all the distress you've caused me this past week…"
So, she was going to be ambushed with a 'payment plan' once her period was over.
Smirking, they tilt their head, a finger poking into their cheek, "So, can I start making those payments before the interest gets too high?"
Azul sighs, pouting and shaking his head with his eyes closed, "Honestly. I try to be benevolent and you throw it back in my face. Such cruelty…" he opens an eye, a smile almost leaning into a smirk, "But payment in kisses is always accepted with you."
"Suave" Yuu leans closer, peppering kisses against Azul’s reddening cheeks before going for the kill on his lips. The two sets molded together, Yuu holding him by his jaw as her tongue slid into his mouth, tasting his moans as his hands shakingly reached toward her hips. Pulling away, they giggle at seeing Azul catch his balance on the wall, "Have fun at the lounge. Call me when you can squeeze in a break."
Still dizzy from the kiss, Azul nodded, free hand fumbling for the doorknob behind him, "W-will do. Please don't overdo it when no one is here. Love you." He barely escaped, losing his composer and stumbling away just as he closed the door behind him. Yuu was always physically affectionate, but she was downright merciless if he ever blushed in front of her.
Yuu sighs, deciding to finally check their phone in bed…maybe they’ll just grab more towels from the hallway closet. Laying on the couch closer to the kitchen would be the smarter idea. They huff, pulling out more towels and piling them in their arms. They really needed to find something to act comfortably enough like a pad or tampon, free bleeding was too messy in the long run.
Once the couch was prepped with towels, they laid down to rest under their cozy throw blanket until Crewel appeared to check on them. They clicked their phone on and almost choked at the number of notifications.  At least 300 texts, 47 missed calls, and various social media @'s in an effort to reach them. They had to fight back the tears, emotions swelling at the idea of just how cared for they were in this world. Once their nerves were settled, they went to ground zero.
Their group chat with the 'Firstie Squad' was where most of the texts were. Ace first stated that someone had assaulted them. From there chaos descended. Jack demanded to know if Ace was joking, because if so it wasn't funny in the slightest. Epel chimed in that there was no way anyone overpowered them and got away alive. Ace snapped at both of them what he saw, pointing out how odd they'd been behaving the week prior. Sebek finally chimed in, only typing to ask whether Ace was sure.
Once Ace rementioned the bloody vagina mess the whole chat might as well as caught on fire. Jack seemed to disappear, Epel followed quickly after dropping several swears and threats into the chat about the would-be aggressor. Sebek stuck around the longest, talking with Ace to get information and make a game plan. Ortho sent a single link on helping a loved one who had been assaulted. But, knowing the living droid, he had probably combed every camera at his disposal to try and catch whoever did such a crime.
Nearly an hour later Deuce had finally entered the chat, full caps stating that they were okay and then yelling at Ace. He scolded him for blabbing when Crewel just told them to keep quiet. From there new, familiar chaos took over, a normal back and forth whenever Ace and Deuce started fighting over text.
The other stray texts were from the housewardens, mainly asking why their respective firsties were acting so odd. A few more texts asking if they were okay, noting how angry they've been the past few days. Surprisingly, only two texts were from Jamil. One was a photo of a teary-eyed Grim being held like a baby by Kalim in the background, crumbs on his over-stuffed cheeks and Kalim flashing a peace sign. Mildly blurry in the corner of the photo was the side of Jamil’s face, a half-in-frame peace sign hiding his mouth. The simple message attached, ‘Grim is fed and being held. Love you’
Yuu smiles, sending him a quick message before replying to the other texts, making sure to send Ace several middle finger and a single heart emoji. She groans, seeing a few texts from Vil. But looking closer, she sees most of the missed calls were from Vil, maybe she should call him…
Listening through a few of the voicemails, Yuu notes how calm Vil sounded in the first recording. The blonde only asked how their day was and if they were still on for their movie night. The next few voicemails slowly increased in panic, the last one being a chaotic audio of Epel wailing in the background. Rook trying to either comfort or hold the country boy back while Vil yelled into the phone, “You better be dead when I find you, or so help me you’re going to be for making me worry like this!”
Yuu personally made sure to save that voicemail. It was rare to hear such emotion from Vil Shoenheit without having paid him an insane amount of money and hours of makeup and hair styling. Should Crowley try to withhold their allowance, they had a nice little nest egg to sell.
Soon, Yuu heard the front door swing open, the wood slamming against the wall and no doubt deepening the dent that was already there. Crewel really needed to announce himself at all times when he was annoyed. Yuu doesn’t rise from the couch, instead letting out a high-pitched yip to let him know where in the house they were. Hearing the click of the adult's shoes, Yuu waves over the side of the couch, “Sup, papa dog.”
“Hello, puppy.” Crewel leans over the back of the couch, his gloved hand petting her head and pressing a kiss to her hair, “How are you feeling?”
“Like bloody dirt.”
“Hmm.” Crewel drops a bag onto their stomach, the warmth and smell of it giving away that it was a take-out box of food, “Breakfast from your eels. You’ll need to eat it before you take this pain potion.”
Yuu smiles, pulling the food out and digging in. Mid chew, they raise an eyebrow, “Why’s this potion different? I normally take them without food all the time.” They watch Crewel pull out a flask, but instead of the normal green-colored syrup, it was a bright cyan. The bottle itself had a warning tag on the glass, “What the fuck is that?”
“This, puppy, is a medical-grade pain potion. While I am able to brew anything, it’d be illegal for me to brew something of this strength without proper licensing. So, I tasked Ms.Oster with making a few for you.”
The distrust Yuu had instantly faded, reaching out for the flask with a smile, “Oh, I love Ms.Oster.”
Crewel pulls the bottle from their reach, playfully sneering down at them, “Yeah, I know.”
Ingrid Oster was one of the science professors under Crewel’s direction in the school. She mainly taught practical magic and magical first aid. Even though Yuu had no reason to even know the woman as a first year, they had managed to meet and we’re now teacher/student ‘besties’, something that deeply annoyed Crewel. The number of times the bi-colored man had walked into the staff room only to see the two of them having a luncheon and gossiping about other students. Not to mention Ingrid only upped her teasing, telling Crewel that he wears the ‘dad look’ very well.
Crewel demanded they finish their food before letting them even touch the bottle. The teacher explained how a medical-grade pain potion had a  much stronger effect than the standard potion. It lasted for nearly a whole day instead of 4-6 hours, not to mention how it worked. Instead of simply numbing the nerves to give pain relief, a medical-grade pain potion targeted the muscle system, physically relieving tension and letting the fibers relax. As such, they were very rarely used outside of hospitals, but Crewel didn’t feel comfortable having Yuu drink possibly more than two potions a day.
Once Yuu was done eating, Crewel held up a finger, making sure he had their attention, “Don’t drink all of this like a normal potion. This is much stronger than that so I want you to sip. Understand? Sip.”
Yuu sighed, making a grabby hand motion until Crewel handed the flask over, noting how it still felt a bit warm through the glass under their fingers. Uncorking the bottle they make sure to sip the liquid as loudly as possible. Pulling it away and smiling at Crewel’s annoyed look, “Sip.”
“Enough of the sass or I won’t be sending you lunch.” Crewel collected the trash, throwing it away for them in the kitchen before walking back into the lounge, “Ortho hasn’t answered me yet about any of his findings. But, then again I think you actually managed to traumatize the poor boy. Until then, you’re sadly on house arrest, puppy. Invite who you wish, but you shouldn't roam campus how you like.”
“Fine…” Yuu slumped back onto the couch, pouting but feeling better as the potion started to take a mild effect. They do send a smile as Crewel ruffles their hair.
Crewel reminds them once more to not drink the whole bottle, Sip, giving their head another kiss before he left. As much as he’d want to stick around to make sure his favorite pup was taken care of, he was a very busy teacher and he had lesson plans to prepare for tomorrow.
The second Crewel had slammed their front door closed, they uncorked the flask again and drank the whole potion. They’d rather just deal with the full effect of the potion in one sitting instead of having to sip for hours on end or wake up from a surprise nap in pain. Crewel would understand if he came back and Yuu was in some type of medically induced coma.
Tumblr media
Lunch rolled around, and along with it came three steady, loud knocks on the front door. Yuu blearily blinked their eyes open, yep, they passed out on the couch. Luckily they didn’t roll onto their phone, checking the time and messages before another three knocks rang out. As before, Yuu lets out a loud —bird-adjacent— call, their universal sign of approval. She giggles lightly, hearing Ace and Deuce return the call when they open the door, the sound of Riddle scolding them for making 'nonsense noises' without permission.
The Heartslabyul crew all walked into the lounge, each in casual clothing and a different level of uneasiness but smiling all the same. Cater was in the back, phone held nervously with both hands as he gave a wary eye at their prone form. Trey was calm as normal, holding a picnic basket in hand. Ace and Deuce were already in front of them, leaning down and annoying her mildly. Mainly Ace, the redhead poking at her stomach asking if she was still bleeding. Deuce hissed at him to stop, ‘What if you poke them so hard they bleed more?’
Riddle stood with an extra type of rigidity in his stance, the only give that he was uncomfortable. Even with his medical knowledge, he always found blood to be a deeply uncomfortable topic. But, he was willing to face his apprehension if it was for his younger classmate's benefit. Walking closer, Riddle clears his throat before speaking, “Apologies, Yuu. We’ve visited without a prior invite or call, but due to recent events I believe we can have a pass on that rule for now…”
Cater nods his head, but still refusing to get closer, “We were totes worried about you, sweetie. Plus the ADeuce duo over here wasn’t making things better by vague ranting in the dorm…”
The two freshmen glare over their shoulder’s at Cater. They had returned to the dorm yelling at each other the day prior, a common occurrence. What peaked the upperclassmen’s worry was the dubious context of their argument and their silence when Riddle demanded to know what had happened.
Yuu smiles, blinky slowly, still half asleep from their nap, “Sorry. In fairness I wasn’t expecting it to happen, so I was really unprepared.” Cater actually had a more familiar reaction, something Yuu wasn’t aware that she missed. The mild fear from boys the second periods were mentioned, skirting around but still ready to help out because they knew they were in danger.
Trey chuckles, looking at Cater’s nervous self from the corner of his eye. Holding up the basket he taps it lightly, “We brought you some croissants, freshly baked this morning. I can even make you a sandwich with fixings of your choice.” He wouldn’t mention the hastily compiled ‘survival guide’ Jade had sent him last night. The main point being that favored food seemed to be the only thing to keep Yuu in a relatively calm state.
“I just woke up, don’t give me choices…” Yuu whined lightly, curling into the couch but still muttered out, “You know I like croissants savory or sweet, surprise me. And thanks for bringing me lunch.”
“No problem, Yuu. I heard from Crewel you were on house arrest. So to ease his workload we’ll be watching you for the day.” He starts to walk away, calling over his shoulder, “I’ll get to making you something to eat.”
“And I’ll help him! Bye, sweetie!” Cater hurried after Trey, seeing an opportunity to run and taking it.
Ace sighed, standing up straight, “Jeeze, you’re such trouble…You can’t even be bothered to sit up while you talk to us?”
“Don’t bully them, Ace! They’re in pain!” Deuce sputters, turning to Yuu with a worried, “Wait are you still in pain, should we have brought you a potion?”
Yuu waves him off lightly, slowly patting him on the face until the worried pout loosens, “Don’t worry. Crewel brought me breakfast and a pain potion. I’m as…chill as a…cold thing…Yeah…”
“You’re still half asleep is what you are…” Ace mutters quietly, rubbing the back of his head before he looks up. He looks back down, a smirk on his face, “But, since I’m such a good friend, I’ll help around since you’re too useless to do it right now.” Waving he starts to walk toward the stairs, “I’ll go clean your room.”
Deuce jumps up, growling under his breath before he follows Ace, “You’re not slick! I know you’re just gonna nap up there! Just because Yuu isn’t using their bed, doesn’t mean you get to laze around in it!” He had run out of the room after the fleeing redhead, only to rush back in. Kneeling down he gathers Yuu into his arms in a quick hug, “Glad you’re ok, Yuu.”
“Aw…Thanks, buddy.”
Deuce releases them, running back to the stairs and his yelling fading the farther he gets.
In the silence, Yuu drifted between half asleep and simply staring into the air. They probably shouldn’t have taken the whole potion, but they’d never admit to Crewel being right. Not after they deliberately disobeyed him. While studying their hand in the open air, they notice Riddle had stayed in the room, looking more and more conflicted, “...You ok?”
“...” Riddle shifted nervously, looking to the side before he walked closer. Crouching down, he whispered, almost in fear of anyone else hearing him, “Are you really bleeding from your…vagina?”
“...” She wasn’t going to laugh, she refused to laugh. Not when Riddle was looking at them so concerned. He didn’t deserve that. She didn’t know if her face stayed straight or betrayed just how hard she was trying to not laugh, but she reached out to pat Riddle on the head, “I am…but it’s fine. Other than cramps, this doesn’t actually hurt me. No need to be all worried…”
That seemed to be enough for Riddle, the 2nd year letting out a sigh of relief before he stood back to his full height, “In that case, would you allow me to interview you?”
“Interview?”
With a wave of his pen, a notebook appeared in his hands, “You are a biological alien to us, though we seem to forget that at times… Such functions don’t happen to the people of Twisted Wonderland, it’d be any researcher's dream to study it.” Coughing into his fist he calms himself, “But, I understand if you are uncomfortable with such a thing. I only thought it’d be good to get the facts documented should something similar happen again.”
Yuu chuckles, seeing how eager Riddle was. One thing Yuu knew about Riddle, was that he loved puzzles. Researching a new topic with little information was a blind puzzle to him and he dived into research like it was a water slide. Sure he was trying to curb his enthusiasm since they were affected by an ‘alien illness’, but he just couldn’t stop how excited he was.
“I don’t mind, Riddle.”
Riddle’s nervous energy instantly passes, smiling at them before he flips the notebook open. Sitting in front of their legs on the couch, he clicked his wand to uncap the pen, “Perfect! Now, what is happening in broad terms?”
“Pussy peeling.”
Riddle sighed so hard that Yuu was worried he’d fall over dead from lack of air, “Yuu...You know I dislike that word, I’m begging you.”
Yuu giggles, a leg moving to lightly push against Riddle’s back before calming down, “I’m sorry…My Vagina is peeling, liquifying the scraps and then forcing it out of my body.”
Riddle looked ill, but I kept writing, “That sounds horrific…”
“Oh, it is.”
“What function does this process serve?”
“Baby room reno.”
“...What?”
Yuu groaned, head falling back against the armrest, trying to figure out an easier way to explain. Snapping their fingers, they point toward Riddle, “My pussy is replacing the wallpaper.”
“In no way…does that help me.”
“Aaaaaokay. Imagine your hormones, like, spend the whole month decorating a nursery. But, turns out there’s no baby. So the hormones throw a fit and decided to redo the nursery for next month. Hence…” Yuu smiles, gesturing to their stomach, “Replacing the wallpaper.”
Riddle wrote down the long-winded analogy, making sure to circle ‘Wallpaper replacement’ with a question mark beside it, “And this is normal in your world?”
“Sadly. Girls get their first period sometimes at like… 8 years old or younger.”
“Why!? That just…What is the purpose of it? I assumed this was a feature from birth, not something you just…wake up to.”
“Oh, it’s a sign that your body can make babies. It’s a hormonal change that comes packaged with puberty.”
Riddle stops writing, “You said some girls get this at 8 years old?”
“Yeah…though it’s more common around like 12 or 13. My friend got her’s when she was like 9 and she said she freaked out so hard. Her mom hadn’t had the, like, talk with her yet. So she just bled everywhere and tried to hide it.” Yuu kept rambling, recounting the stories her old friend group had shared about their first period horror stories, missing Riddle’s own dawning horror.
Yuu normally talked fondly of their old world. Funny stories with friends, and pleasant memories with their grandparents (Yuu never claimed to be an orphan. Had stated that both her parents were alive as far as she knew. She never shared a happy memory about them though). But sometimes the things they said worried them. The violence, the discrimination, the constant fear some people had to live in. The fact the people in charge would rather let their workforces starve than simply give them the rightful money earned (That bit of knowledge had even made Azul uncomfortable for a time). And now he hears that girls were ready to carry and birth children biologically? Girls, children. He’s praying that it wasn’t okay for girls so young to be engaging in such…activities, but the fact their bodies went through such a change at that age horrified him.
And a selfish part whispered that he was glad Yuu had managed to escape such a place.
Riddle manages to shake himself free of his spiraling thoughts, catching the end of Yuu's rambles.
"-And then my friend Tracy got her's in the middle of a ballet recital and she, like, bled all over the stage. Apparently, one girl was staring the whole time and tripped because of it." Yuu laughs, the sound coming out mildly choked, “Lisa…Lisa has like 3 older sisters, okay? They all got their period on the same day, so their house was super tense. Then poor lil Lisa comes out of her room crying holding her bloody bedsheet and everyone starts crying.”
Riddle looks at Yuu in worry from the corner of his eye, writing down more questions to review with Jade, “All of them at once? Would that be considered rare?” Was a period something like an overblot? The symptoms seemed to match…
“Naw, it’s common pussy ping, happens to the best of us.”
“One, stop saying that word. Two, a common what?”
Yuu nodded their head in a sage manner, eyes already drifting around the room again, “Yeah, pussy ping. It’s when you, like, sync up with other vaginas.”
“...” Riddle turns to Yuu, eyes wide in horror, “Sync up? As in…if someone’s period has started…”
“Yep.” Yuu smiles, making vague hand gestures, “If you spend enough time with another vagina, they send wifi signals to each other and sync up the calendars so that their hosts start on the same day.”
“I-Their hosts?” So a period was like an overblot. An extremely dangerous one at that if they were able to induce overblots in others simply by being around them long enough. The very thought of his own overblot resulting in the others…
“Oh yeah. The pussy is a dangerous thing. It’s acidic and can influence other vaginas to rebel.” “Wait, it’s acidic!?”
“Oh, yeah.” Yuu stretched, back popping as they sat up to look at Riddle directly, “I guess some stuff doesn’t carry over then. Yeah, my pussy is mildly acidic.”
Riddle looks down to Yuu’s covered lap, eyes panicked, “Is that healthy?” “Yeah. If your pussy juice can bleach your underwear over time, your pussy bacteria is healthy.”
Acidic was healthy. Riddle cared about Yuu, he truly did. She was like a sibling his younger self would have desperately needed to be a reason to think of how his actions affect those around him and to physically slap him for going too far. But every time he spoke to them about their natural state, he just felt intense concern. Things Yuu would joke about only made him realize that depression wore many faces, and that fact only made his worry expand to others in his dorm. Clearing his throat, Riddle edged just slightly away from Yuu’s lower anatomy, “Do you need to clean it out with soap or-”
Yuu was leaned against the back of the couch in a daze, cheek pressed into the fabric before shooting up and cutting Riddle off, “No. Nothing but clean water can go into the pussy. If you put any kinda cleaner up there it will anger the blood goddess and she will curse you and your pussy with dryness and wheat…yeast infections.”
“I- The blood goddess? You said your world didn’t have magic, who is this blood goddess!?”
“The Moon.”
“The…The Moon?”
“The moon controls the blood tides and demands her daughters pay for the sins of old…”
Riddle wrote down the new information, eyes wide, “Ok, let’s change the subject.”
Yuu nods, head lulling back to rest against the couch, “Periods are like…insane. Girls only like talking about them because it makes everyone else terrified.”
“I can see why…But with this affecting possibly 50% of the population, you must have had a class about it? Do you remember anything you could tell me?”
“No.”
“...No?”
“I don’t remember.”
Riddle sighs, looking at Yuu with a stern frown, “Yuu this would be much easier if you would cooperate with me-”
“No, really I don’t remember. We had the ‘puberty talk’ when I was, like, in 5th grade. We don’t review that shit until we get to Sex-Ed and I didn’t have that class yet.”
“...That sounds incredibly negligent and poorly thought out.”
“You could also opt your kid out because you don’t want them learning about sex.”
“What-”
“Those were the kids who normally end up pregnant, funny enough.”
“Childhood pregnancy isn’t funny, Yuu.”
Yuu giggled, nudging at Riddle’s back with her knee, only stopping when the 2nd year forcibly shoved her knee away from him, “It’s kinda funny. At least to laugh at the parent's stupidity, you know?”
“You’re laughing at a child getting pregnant…” Please don’t let that be a common occurrence in Yuu's world, “But, You are sexually active, aren’t you? How is that so if you’ve never had Sex-Ed?”
“The fuck kind of question is that? You’re the ghost of a sickly Victorian child who never lived to take The Dangers of Spices 101, how are you fucking Floyd?”
“It’s mandatory of Twisted Wonderland home school curriculum to teach a basic Sex-Ed course at the middle school level and you don’t need to know the details of my personal life.”
“Oh god, you had Sex-Ed with your mom.”
“Yuu-”
She waves his tone off, not at all bothered by his reddening face, “I learned from my friends. Honestly, I didn’t even know how a tampon worked until we had to make a midnight run at a sleepover one night.”
“Tampons…” Riddle writes it down, ensuring the page had plenty of space, “That’s a new term. What is it?” Jade’s notes hadn’t mentioned a ‘tampon’.
“Cotton you shove up your pussy to soak up the blood. Most of my friends used those but me and another gal named Rue liked pads better.”
Riddle nods, writing down the second word. He had heard of pads from Jade’s shared notes, and also from being manhandled by Sam’s shadows in his search for information. “I'm guessing a pad is also like a tampon, but less…invasive?”
“Yeah.” Yuu yawns, seeming to realize just how full of cotton her head was even when awake, “Though that’s mainly because I heard about what the fuck Toxic Shock was and it scared me enough to not want to use them.”
“I’m sorry, Toxic Shock? You couldn’t lead with that!?”
“Oh, right. This is like common knowledge for me so I don’t really care about it. But, Toxic Shock Syndrome is like…something that could happen if you use tampons. But it’s like super rare, to the point if you got it from a tampon? You left that thing in there for days and you deserve it because that’s just gross.”
Ok, that…that was calming at least. He wrote the new information under the Tampon page. As far as he was concerned Yuu had made a good decision, ‘Tampons’ sounded nothing but dangerous. Though Yuu had stated most of their friends preferred to use them. Maybe there was a proper method to using them that Yuu didn’t care to learn (Which honestly fit them). He reviews his notes briefly, frowning at how most of the information was concerning, “Your reproductive health is surprisingly delicate.”
“Oh, you have no idea. I could have cancer honestly.”
“What!?”
“The female anatomy is a hellscape. I could be dying right now but the cramps basically overshadow everything.” Yuu laughs, picking at her nails absent-mindedly, “There’s plenty of people who’ve, like, died from actual internal damage but they just thought it was their periods- W-whoa, Riddle are you crying?”
“No, I’m panicking!”  Riddle scrambled off the couch, lifting the blanket to check Yuu directly. Or he would have if the sight of blood smeared across their inner thighs didn’t make his head swirl. The blanket drops from his hands, turning away and managing to catch himself onto his hands and knees as he dry heaved, “By the Seven, is there supposed to be that much blood!?”
“...” Yuu watches him in mild concern. But seeing how the 2nd year didn’t actually start vomiting they answered, “I think so? I might be flowing heavy since I haven’t had one in a while…”
Riddle wiped at his forehead, taking slow breaths as he stood back up, eyes roaming the floor for his dropped pen and notebook, “Heavy flow? As in the flow can change pressure? Consistency?”
“Yeah, those are words to describe it, I guess.” Yuu shrugs, head turning in the direction of the kitchen. Were Trey and Cater making the jam from scratch? What was taking the two of them so long? Looking back at Riddle, Yuu shrugs again, “To be honest I have… no idea what normal is. Honestly, no one in my world really did.” “How?”
“Dude, people were fucking terrified of periods. Before I got here? They were just now actually, like, testing pads and tampons with shit that wasn't water. Aka, not the right cunt-sistency of periods.”
Riddle gripped at his chest. The lack of common sense was baffling. These were the people in charge of that world, half the population was suffering from this illness and they couldn’t even test their sanitation products correctly, “Oh my Seven…”
“Some places were trying to ban talking about them in school, so fuck what shitty health class we had in the first place. Plus, periods can get weird, you know. Sometimes, you can like…bleed from other places.”
“What.”
“Yeah, like, from your butt or your eyes,” Yuu’s head rolls along the back of the couch, laughing as a memory resurfaces, “My friend, Chel, told us her cousin’s all came out in one piece once.”
Riddle dry heaved, stumbling back and coughing as the mental image started to form, “Trey…” He called out weakly. He was going to pass out, or vomit. Either one was wildly unwelcome at that moment.
“Apparently, it was like wet tissue just slid out of her.”
Another gag, Riddle fully turning away. The horror clear on his face unable to stop his mind.
“Yeah, her cousin sent a picture too. It looked like a bloody piece of chewed-up gum-”
“TREY!” Riddle doubled over, just barely getting his yell out, coughing as he fought against his urge to vomit. Hearing the sounds of footsteps thundering down the hall, he felt relief flood him. He couldn’t handle another minute of this, he was never good with blood. Blood was always the sign of something being deeply wrong, blood outside the body besides the need for a transfusion was never healthy. Now one of his friends was basically hemorrhaging and he had to deal with the fact it was “healthy”.
Cater and Trey rush into the room, Trey dressed in Yuu’s black ‘Shut Up and Eat’ apron with a plate of croissants gripped in his hands, “What!? Who’s dying!?”
Phone pointed in front of him, Cater films a video. If Yuu managed to kill all of them, someone would be able to find the video and know what happened to them, “Is Yuu still bleeding?”
At Riddle’s loud retch, Trey handed the plate of food to Cater. The 3rd year quickly walked over to Riddle, rubbing at his back and trying to guide him out of the lounge, “Okay, let’s get you outside. Some fresh air will help. Cater, keep Yuu company.”
Cater watches mildly stunned, Trey walking past him with his hands firmly on Riddle’s shoulders. With a plate of toasted croissant sandwiches in one hand and his still recording phone in the other Cater looked at Yuu on the couch. Their head was leaned back against the armrest, watching him with what he could only describe as a predator’s stare. Putting his phone in his pocket, Cater grabs one of the sandwiches and slowly approaches Yuu, arm outstretched as he wiggled it, “Pspspspspspspssps.”
“I can not begin to tell you what I will do to you if you don’t stop that shit right now.” The threat was empty and they both knew it. Yuu struggled to not laugh as Cater finally walked over to them normally, gently placing the plate in their waiting hands, “How fucking dare you…? I’m laying here in pain and ruining the nice towels Kalim gifted me and you’re treating me like a cat.”
“A feral cat.” Cater had eased, if only a little bit. He still wasn’t standing at an angle to let Yuu get a quick hit in, but his shoulders had finally relaxed. It helped that he knew Yuu had food now, Trey was just as confused as he was when Jade kept sending texts reflecting the importance of giving Yuu food lest they attack them in a mood swing. And now with said feral cat feeding on the still-warm sandwiches, Cater could feel a bit safer, “You’re totes a cute cat, but still feral. #Hot-Mess, #Hit-By-A-Bus, #Don’t-Bite-Me-Pwease.”
Yuu frowned, though a smile was clearly winning the fight over their expression, “Shut up…” Taking a big bite, the buttery sweet sandwich filled them with a sense of comfort. Trey’s cooking always had an odd effect Yuu found. No matter what he made it would make others feel content and full. They and the ADeuce duo would joke that Trey was using his Unique Magic to make his food replace negative emotions somehow.
Trey hadn’t answered their joke, only smiling at them and offering another pie for their hangout.
Now with a plate of warm food, Yuu was more content, almost melting into the couch and snoozing into the armrest as she hummed. In their hazy mind, Yuu could hear Cater’s chuckle. The redhead sat carefully on the armrest above their head.
“Aw, my poor rag-a-muffin froshie is having such a hard time. It really makes me wanna be a good senpai and look after you.” He sighed dramatically, tapping at his cheek as he playfully pouted, “Is this how Trey feels looking at Ace and Deuce?”
“Only if you feel a deep sense of disappointment and contempt for everything I do.”
Ace and Deuce had just entered the room, Both of them with messy hair and disheveled clothing, clearly having gotten into a scuffle before coming back downstairs. The redhead first-year scowls, clicking his tongue, “Shut up. I’ve never done a single thing wrong in my life.”
Cater snorts, trying to hide just how hard he was fighting back his laughter.
Yuu raised an eyebrow, “Did you get fucking concussed up there? You’ve done nothing right since the day you were born, and you know it.”
“Shut up, you’re lucky you’re injured! Plus, where’s Riddle and Trey?”
Deuce looked around, walking closer to Yuu to once again give them a check, “We heard Rosehearts-Senpai yelling upstairs…”
“And you just now decided to show up?” Yuu tries to shove the whole of a croissant into her mouth, seeming to not realize the issue of it not being able to fit.
Ace scoffs from the doorway, “Like we’re coming down here if he was actually mad.” He watches Yuu with a raised brow. She was just…holding the sandwich now, as though she was trying to figure out how to properly eat it.
Deuce watches in silence too, only to gently grab the sandwich from Yuu, tearing it in half before giving it back, “Yuu did you…eat anything else before we got here?”
“Yeah, papa dog brought me food…” Yuu stared at the new, smaller sandwich in hand. Half shoving it into their mouth they continued, their voice muffled, “Why do you ask?”
“...Did you have one of those gummies Sam legally doesn’t sell you?”
“Are you high!?” Cater perked up, leaning over and tilting Yuu’s head back to look into their eyes. He lets out a laugh, noticing how heavily their pupils were dilated. Well, that would also explain why Yuu seemed so calm. Cater did the same when he had lingering body aches from tending the garden. If a pain potion wasn’t available, a nice ‘chill pill’ was plenty to ease the mind and body, “Let me have one.”
Yuu huffs, nearly choking on their massive bite, “I didn’t take a gummy. I took some medicine Crewel gave me.”
Deuce leaned closer, also checking their pupils before muttering under his breath, “Was it a tranquilizer dart?”
“Naw, it was a pain potion…Like a fancy one, with a tag on it.”
Ace looked around the floor near the couch, eyes catching the empty bottle half hidden under the skirt of the seating. Pulling it out, he read the tag and shouted in surprise, “Dude, this like a ‘The pain is so bad I’m dying’ pain potion! Is it really that bad!?”
Deuce grabs the bottle from Ace, reading it over before handing it to Cater, “Yuu! Do you want us to take you to the hospital!? Wait, no, you don’t want to-”
“How is this empty already?”
“Huh!?” Yuu clicks back into the conversation, looking up at Cater’s concerned glance, “What do you mean how? I drunk it.”
“Sweetie, these potions are like…You can take them orally, but they’re strong enough they normally are supposed to be given via drip for a safe, lasting effect…So why is it empty already?”
“...” Yuu started to cackle, the plate of sandwiches being saved from the floor as Deuce dived to catch it as they jostled off her lap, “I fucking chugged morphine!”
“You chugged this!?”
Ace slapped his forehead, “By the Seven, you’re fucking hopeless. This period thing makes you bleed out the brain, too? You’re gonna lose what little brain cells you had to begin with.”
Yuu still chuckled, hand reaching back to bat at Cater’s fingers combing through their hair, “Fuck you, Ace. Even if I got a brain bleed, I’d still have more brain cells than you.”
“Doubtful. You’re so useless right now, you couldn’t fight your way out of a paper bag.”
Yuu’s laughter instantly stopped, smiling falling into a neutral line as their gaze snapped to Ace. The redhead’s eyes widen, fear suddenly gripping his chest at Yuu’s stare, “...Uh…”
Tumblr media
Riddle's breathing had calmed, but now he was sitting on the steps of Ramshackle, head in his hands as he felt a headache crowning. Lifting his head he stared at his palms, as though they held the answers to his questions, “This is bad, Trey. I don’t have any other way to describe it, this is bad.”
“Riddle, calm down. We can trust Yuu to handle themselves-”
“Except, we can’t! Yuu doesn’t even have all the facts and what facts they do have may not even be right since it’s all second-hand knowledge from other uninformed minors! Not to mention they haven’t even had a proper class on the subject…By the Seven, would it even be informative? They would have dealt with this for years at that point, They probably just went on the internet and read some uncertified drivel, lord knows they won’t open a book-”
“Riddle. Breathe.” Trey grasps Riddle by one of his shoulders, shaking him lightly and thumping the 2nd year on the chest with his other hand. Something to make Riddle take more than a shallow breath in his rambles, “Like you said, Yuu’s been dealing with this for years. They know what they need and we can help by giving them access to whatever it may be.”
Now that he was taking deep gulps of air, Riddle’s anxious energy had finally died down, his stomach finally resting. He turned to Trey, worry clear in his expression, “But it’s concerning. It’s so simple, yet the difference is so obviously alien I can’t help but want to…fix it. But it’s not my place to fix it, because there’s nothing to fix and this is completely natural for them…”
“...That’s right…Riddle did something other than…the blood upset you?”
“...” He sighs, “Yuu says they have no idea about their overall reproductive health. Since they refuse to see a real medical professional and Idia isn’t going to give Ortho the permission to do intrusive body scans, we have no way of checking. They could have cancer and we’d have no way of knowing until they got sick or they died! They said this ‘period’ isn’t always a standard thing either! They could bleed out of their eyes one day and we won’t know if they were actually about to expire or if they were simply on their ‘period’!”
“...” Trey sighs, rubbing the back of his neck at the new information, “Ok, yeah, that…that is very worrying…But,” Trey turns to Riddle with a smile, trying to find the bright side, “Yuu knows their body. If something was really wrong, you know they’d at least tell Crewel about it. And…” He trails off, letting Riddle’s mind come to the conclusion itself.
“...” Yuu’s relationship with Crewel was, to most other students, blindingly trusting. The prefect would tell the teacher anything and everything if they truly felt concerned about the information. Yuu continued to trust Crewel so much since he responded to such faith with the same intensity and care. “And Crewel would physically drag them to a hospital if he truly felt their life was in danger…” He took one last deep breath, nodding at the ‘fact’.
Trey watches with a smile as Riddle gathers himself up. What was once a too-small teen curled in on himself in anxiety and physical illness stood his good friend Riddle Rosehearts, a calm and collected figure of authority.
“Ok, I feel much better now, thank you, Trey.” Riddle looks to the door, “I should finish interviewing Yuu. There was so much information Jade wasn’t able to collect regarding the physical aspect of this…”
Trey hums, opening the door for them as they walk back inside, “He did say Yuu was very hormonal during their visit. Eels noses are really sensitive so he might have been distracted in his own interview by that and the smell of blood.”
“Possibly-”
The sound of Ace yelling and a loud crash coming from the lounge sends them both sprinting. Riddle reached the archway first, nearly being rammed into the side by Trey sliding to a stop beside him, “What’s happening?” “Is anyone hurt!?” Cater chuckles from the back of the couch, phone poised in his hands to film the fight between Ace and Yuu on the ground, “Poor Ace is gonna be.”
Ace and Yuu were spread out on the ground, Yuu quickly making progress to reach at Ace’s face to slap and tug on his cheeks, “Say uncle!” He kept pushing at Yuu’s hands, face pulled into a scowl as a stray drop of blood eased down from his nose, “You bitch! You punched me!”
“You’re the one saying I couldn’t fight my way out of a paper bag! Are you weaker than a paper bag, Ace!?”
“Senpais!” Ace flips onto his stomach, reaching out to Riddle while his other arm braced against Yuu’s chest to keep them away from his face, “Help me! Cater and Yuu are bullying me and Deuce isn’t being useful!”
Deuce calls out from the other side of the fight, holding his thumb up, “I’m helping, Yuu! The hair, prefect! Pull him by the hair and slam his face into the carpet!”
“Senpai! Help!”
“...” Riddle turned away, holding his hand over his mouth, “Don’t bleed on Yuu’s rug…”
“ME!?”
Yuu cackles, finally managing to tangle their fingers into Ace’s wild hair, “Yeah, Ace! Don’t bleed on my rug!”

see u in an hour xx
charli’s text flashes on your screen, illuminating a small corner of the dimly lit room. it’s not that late in the day, in fact, it’s quite early—only about 10 am. you’re supposed to be hurrying around the room, checking for any last minutes things you might have forgotten. you won’t be back home until tomorrow after all. yet here you are, surrounded by the things that should have been packed in your bag last night.
the dress, laid out on your bed, feels like a weapon; red silk slippery enough to slide between your fingers effortlessly. “a wily vixen”, that’s what charli had called you when she'd seen you in it for the first. the thought of that day—bridesmaids dress shopping with four other excited girls—brings a small smile to your face.
everything laid out here is a weapon really; your four-inch, sharp heels, the delicate and dainty diamond jewellery, the makeup you plan on wearing—blood red lipstick, a perfect shade match for the dress. an expensive crystal bottle of the same perfume you have used for the past six years.
familiarity breeds contempt. familiarity is also an excellent knife to twist in someone’s gut. because everything here, today, is meant to maul and wound him.
see you in an hour babe, love you. you write back and chuck your phone onto the pillow where it bounces a little before nestling between its creases. you stare at it, maybe your body still yearns for a call that will never come? no more can’t wait to see you up there. no more cheeky selfies in a state of half-undress. just a smooth, black screen.
right then…time to get going.
Tumblr media
charli has been flittering around the room for the last twenty minutes. her white dress fits her like a dream, her makeup is a work of art and her excitement about marrying george is so palpable in the room that at least one person squeals or sighs every five minutes.
most importantly, the smile on her face is a permanent fixture. and every time you look at it, a warmth spreads through your body. she deserves this—the happiness, the celebration. the happily ever after. no matter how your marriage ended, you won’t stop believing in it for her.
“so!” charli walks over to you and takes your hand, “how do i look?” she twirls and the dress swirls around her, the tiny crystals catching light and making her shimmer like starlight.
you laugh in response, “like george is about to go into cardiac arrest the minute he sees you!”
the pair of you giggles like teenagers. you can so clearly picture it before it has even happened. the joy and love that will shine on george’s face; his excitement, quiet yet infectious and for a brief moment you’re transported back to your own walk down the aisle.
small, unsure steps, worried about falling flat on your face in those tall heels, but all of that had evaporated the second you had seen his tear-stained face. and the bright smile that had bloomed a split second later.
but that’s how long the ache lasts; a brief moment. it’s bad enough that you’re going to have to be civil to him, there’s no need to make it worse with unnecessary nostalgia.
besides, there’s her to think about.
she in question is a beautiful, leggy blonde who is at least seven years younger than him. not that you’ve seen either of them today…yet. it’s only because you and charli got drunk one night, four weeks before the wedding, and she felt bad about keeping it from you that matty had a plus one. and that’s how you fell into the rabbit hole of scrolling through this girl’s Instagram profile at two in the morning.
if you thought you knew his type, you would be dead wrong. physically speaking, she is the exact opposite of you—someone who looks like they belong on a giant billboard in times square, perfect and stunning. then there’s the more questionable aspects of her feed. the flat tummy tea adverts and the paid partnerships with various brands that are always under fire for being unethical.
but that’s the ugly green monster rearing its head. it’s not like you aren’t known for indulging in vanity every once in a while.
she will be here today, no doubt, clinging onto his arm like a decorative little thing—woah, where did that snide thought come from?! you shake your head to yourself, at least a little embarrassed. he’s not even here yet and he’s already screwing with your head; pushing you back into old jealous and insecure habits. someone clears their throat.
nora, one of charli’s longtime friends, has her champagne glass raised. a toast. she takes a deep, shaky breath and smiles tearily at the room, about to give her sentimental speech when a resounding knock echoes and cuts her off before she has even begun.
five heads turn to the locked door and you happen to be standing closest to it.
‘i’ll get it,’ you tell no one in particular, hand already on the doorknob. the possibility of it hits you way too late.
it hits you right as his clean-shaven face comes into view.
it has been ten months. ten months since you gave up the last name healy and changed it back to your maiden name on all your official documents. it had felt like a form of catharsis, getting it done with such urgency back then. but you also remember the days when you would be asked to state your full name and stagger a little at how odd it sounded to no longer have healy in it. to not have a ring around your finger to fidget with. no one to hold you at night.
but back to now. back to here.
it’s not hard to see that he has changed a lot in the last ten months. he looks serious; not necessarily sombre—it’s his best friend’s wedding, after all—but mature, more grown up. the grey in his hair, in his beautiful curls, is now much more prominent. the crow's feet around his eyes are more or less the same (and it sends a small pang through you; has he not laughed recently?). his mouth holds—held—a faint smile that’s already slipping, already morphing into a thin line. the exact same face that you woke up to for years now turning into a mask of carefully arranged neutrality.
“charli,” he whispers roughly and then clears his throat, “here to check on charli.” and just like that, he steps past you and into the room where he’s engulfed into a hug by the bride (and slapped on the bum by another bridesmaid but you ignore that for now).
pointedly, you also ignore the sting that comes with being sidestepped so easily.
you stand by the door, back still to the room, for a second longer than necessary. it doesn’t even register that you’re letting the warm spring air in. is this really how little seeing you impacts him? it must have. because if he’s here then she is also here.
“tell him i’m fine!” charli’s voice brings you out of your thoughts, making you shut the door softly. “and tell him not to meddle, i’ve got my girls.” she looks at you over his shoulder and throws a wink. your gut tells you it’s nothing but a charity gesture, just trying to gauge the tension between you two. guilt gnaws at you—she shouldn’t have to play peacemaker, she shouldn’t have to worry about two adults behaving themselves.
“only doing my duty here,” matty raises his hands defensively, “keeping the groom happy.”
the rest of them tease and taunt him playfully while you take the time to admire—no, simply look at—his suit. it’s nowhere near as nice as the one he wore at your wedding, of course not. but it’s beautifully made, tailored to fit and accentuate his muscles. and there are a lot of those now, that much is evident from the way his sleeves stretch over his biceps. he fills it out nicely, not that he didn’t before, but something about the fabric straining across his arms does funny things to your stomach. funny, you thought that feeling was a thing of the past. then there’s the navy trousers that compliment his backside rather nicely.
there’s a part of you that is appalled at all these observations you have been making but there’s another part—bored and much more matter-of-fact—that reminds you that there’s nothing under those clothes that you haven’t seen, touched, licked or sucked before. there’s nothing new. he is still the same as he was before, just now with a few extra muscles.
“go away,” charli’s nudges him gently toward the door. “we’ll be out in fifteen.”
he hugs her just before he leaves, dropping a friendly kiss on her head. after everything you’re glad no one had to pick sides in the divorce. you’ve at least managed to hold the friend group together, even though the same can’t be said about your marriage.
matty leaves just like he came in, sidestepping you and making sure he’s looking straight ahead. there’s a brief second however—a fraction of one really—when he slows down and breathes in. his adam’s apple bobs roughly and his face struggles to hold the blank expression.
but it must have just been you projecting right? no one can go through that much in half a second.
Tumblr media
“there you are, darling,” denise walks in on you mid-smoke. “i was looking for you.”
she’s in a beautiful pink dress that brushes her knees and makes her look ten years younger than she is. you blush slightly at having been caught smoking; it’s a recent habit, not one she would be aware of, and you don’t want her to judge you for it.
“denise,” you try to hide the half-smoked cigarette, “you look beautiful.”
she pointedly looks at your hand and laughs. “my son does enough of that.” then she straightens up, as if bringing matty so casually into this conversation was a mistake. you suppose it was—it does make your heart skip a beat.
“i just wanted to say hi, darling,” she adds hastily, “and look at you…” her eyes scan you from head to toe, linger on your face for just a second before she smiles again. “simply stunning.”
“thank you.” your voice comes out in a whisper, fighting to get past the lump in your throat. you didn’t think there would ever come a day when she would have to so formally stop by to ‘say hi’. yet here you are, almost a pair of estranged mother and daughter.
“i don’t…” she starts but shakes her head minutely, “i don’t want to condescend you. but are you okay? with matty bringing that girl, i mean.”
that piques your interest. “that girl?” you stifle a little giggle. “sounds like you don’t like her…”
denise shrugs, leaning against the wall and looking at the bushes in front of her. “she’s okay, i guess.” then she takes a bit to smooth out her dress. “but she’s not you.”
Tumblr media
“dearly beloved…” the officiant, charli’s godfather, begins, which you tune out instantly. weddings are lovely and romantic, wedding speeches are dull and boring. besides, like it or not, something else has captured your attention.
you stand behind the bride, holding the ring she’s supposed to put on george later. and right in front of you stands matty, holding the matching platinum band in his hands. adam and ross stand behind him, smiling and occasionally laughing along with the rest of the guests. you tried it at first too, to only keep your attention on george—who looks very handsome and beams wide the whole time—but it’s impossible when you feel your ex’s piercing stare right on you.
you would have thought he would stick to the little ignoring act from before. instead, his eyes have lingered on you from the second you walked down the aisle as a part of the processional. tracking your every move, every small step. frankly, it’s insulting. does he think you would ruin the wedding as some sort of diabolical revenge against him? you scoff internally; of course, he would think such self-centred thoughts, it’s just all about him, after all.
you raise an eyebrow at him. what’s your fucking problem?
he smiles back; an arrogant curl of his mouth that turns his face from sweet to insufferable within a matter of seconds. you, his eyes seem to say, you’re my problem.
well too fucking bad then…
you huff and look away to the side at the guests. it’s only about fifty people from both sides. just family and friends—a lovely kind of intimacy the couple had asked for. you smile at george’s parents who sit in the first row. his mum dabs at her eyes, clearly overwhelmed with emotion. and behind them sit denise and tim. right next to her.
she’s exactly what she looks like on her instagram page. dainty and beautiful, picture-perfect elegant. her whole face looks like it could be hand-crafted by the gods (or very expensive surgeons according to the snide little voice in your brain) but her eyes are bone dry.
that’s because she doesn’t belong here, your brain chimes in. not among your friends and your family.
well, ex-family…
her name doesn’t immediately come to the forefront of your mind. all you know from that drunken night is how charli made you block all her socials at the end of it. as if you were going to go back to them again and again. as if you have no purpose in life other than obsessing over your ex’s new girl.
she sighs, then looks out the window with a bored expression on her face and you have to focus your attention back to the bride and groom before you do something drastic. not before you catch matty looking at you from the corner of your eye, however.
not just at you…he’s staring at the plunging neckline of your dress that shows off your cleavage wonderfully. with the big window to your side, it’s so clear to see every little detail of his face—his teeth gnawing on his bottom lip (he’s unaware that he’s doing it. you know that for a fact). his pupils that are blown out wide, making almost the entirety of his eyes look black; dark and hungry.
your mouth curls into a smirk, arrogant enough to mirror his own. well, this is interesting.
matty’s mouth presses into a thin line. even now, after you caught him so red-handed, he’s trying to deny it. but you don’t miss his ears turning the telltale shade of pink.
Tumblr media
“...and i promise to love you for the rest of my life.” george’s voice breaks on the last word, the tears flowing freely but he smiles through all of it. in front of you, charli’s shoulders shake. they haven’t even put the rings on each other yet and they’re already emotional. it makes you laugh, and surprising, you feel the tears escaping your eyes.
i promise to love you for the rest of my life. that’s what matty had said too. i promise to dance in the kitchen with you and do all my silly little romantic gestures. i promise to never let you fall. i promise, i promise, i promise…
so many of them unkept, so many of them just pretty words spoken on a perfect day in front of a tearful audience.
“i do!” charli squeals before the question is even finished, making everyone laugh. a wet chuckle escapes you at her infectious joy.
“do you, george, take charli to be your lawfully wedded wife?” the officiant asks.
“i do,” he says patiently and charli sticks her tongue out at him.
you sincerely hope they stay like this for the rest of their lives—polar opposites who complete each other. not people who are so similar, they don’t know how to exist in the same space anymore.
matty smiles, first at the couple and then, shockingly, at you. husband and wife he mouths.
jarringly still, you smile back.

AN: this is my first angst fic, enjoy, also this has two parts.🫀
summary: jack has been telling you to wait for him to be ready in a real relationship but likes to fuck other girls and gets mad when you talk to another dude.
you and jack had just got back to the hotel after his performance.
jack was beyond exhausted, he just wanted to lay down in your arms and fall asleep to you whispering sweet nothings in his ear.
jack got into the shower with you following behind him.
“jackie, when are you going to commit to me..?”
“baby please, you known i love you, we can talk about this tomorrow im so fucking tired i can barely stand up..”
“ok baby i dont want to stress you, lets just go to bed, ok.”
you both finished washing off and went to lay down.
you laid on the bed while jack climbed on top of you.
jack didnt take long to fall asleep, you sighed feeling lonely, sure you were seeing jack, but it didnt feel like it.
jack would go out to clubs every other night and be kissing girls, hell sometimes maybe even fucking them, you never knew when it came to him.
you let your mind shut off as you fell asleep scratching jacks hair with your acrylic nails.
the next morning by the time you woke up, jack was gone.
you sighed and checked the time before getting up and heading to brush your teeth.
you found jacks dirty clothes on the floor by his bag, you picked then up getting a plastic bag and placing them in until you could wash them.
you heard your phone ringing and went to go answer it.
*incoming call from stinka💕*
you answered and heard urban in the background taking to what sounded like ace.
“yea jack?”
“im so sorry i left before you could wake up, the boys wanted to go out and i didnt want to wake you, i just wanted to call and let you know where i was.”
“its fine babe, have fun”
“thank you mamas, love you.”
“love to too.”
jack hung up and started cuddling up to the girl who obviously knew he was talking to someone, but didnt care as he talked to his friends.
“dude you gotta either commit to y/n or break it off with her, you’ve been leading her on for the longest.”
“urban just give me time.. i want her i just dont know when i want to commit.”
“their is no way you want her honestly, you have been with two other girls since the one from last night!”
“fuck i just need time, im going see y/n.”
urban looked at jack with nothing but disappointment, jack had always claimed he didnt like toxic relationships, he just wanted one girl to love on forever.
it was all for an image, jack wanted anybody who would fuck him.
jack loved you though, he knew he loved you, you knew he loved you, hell everybody knew.
well everybody who wasn’t the public.
jack didnt hide the fact he was actively going in and out of relationships or getting ready to commit.
he loved the attention he would get from women wanting to get under your skin, even if they didnt know you, they wanted you to know jack was cheating on you and he loved the adrenaline it gave him, hell if it was up to him he would date you in an one way open relationship, he could fuck whoever while your the house wife of the decade.
jack pulled up to the hotel and went in to find a not with your handwriting on the island that said
“im going treat myself, i went to get my hair done, nails done, and i might go to hang out at a club or something. i dont know if you’re going to be back before me so i wrote this. love you lots see you later.”
jack sighed knowing you probably took his card and there would be a lot less money from before.
jack called you and it went straight to voicemail, he went to text you and seen you were ok dnd, he texted you and pressed noti anyway.
stinka💕- call me back love
you huffed and looked at the message and seen jacks name, you were getting your toes done so your hands were free and you called him back.
“yes babe?”
“did you take my cards?”
“yea, of course.”
“you didnt even ask me what the fuck.”
“jack baby, i just wanted to have time to myself, all i did was get my nails done so far, i can cancel everything else if its that big of a deal.”
“its fine i just..never mind, have a good day my girl, enjoy yourself.”
“thank you jack.”
you finished your nails and went to the store to grab some snacks for while you get your hair done.
while you were in the store a man with freeform’s approached you
“hey ma’am you mind if i pay for your things?”
“uhm thanks but you dont have to really!”
“please?”
“yes sure, thanks so much.”
“no problem.”
the man paid and as you were walking out he stopped you again.
“hey uhm, i was wondering.. can i have your number.”
“yes sure.”
the man quickly took out his phone and saved his number as ‘Warren’
you took your phone back and headed out the store walking to your car getting ready for the appointment.
you started driving and jack called you.
you answered the phone through the car screen not wanting to pick up your phone.
“yes jack? im driving, cant really talk.”
“why were you at the store so long? you ok?”
“yes im fine this dude asked yo pay for my things thats all.”
“did you let him?”
“yes why wouldn’t i?”
“man what the fuck? your out with my card and letting another man buy your shit? i bet he was just trying to get your number.”
“her put his number in my phone, im probably just going to be his friend dont want to lead him on.”
jack didnt say another word, he just hung up and your music started blasting.
you knew the phone didn’t disconnect because jack let out a puff before hanging up.
once you were done with all your appointments and having your day out you went back to the hotel with a few shopping bags hanging on your arm as you sucked your strawberry smoothie.
you dropped your bags off on the island and went to the bedroom ready to show off your hair and nails and make it up to jack.
when you walked in jack was making out with another girl who simply smiled at you before rubbing jack through his pants.
usually you had the mindset “its almost never the secret girls fault, if she didn’t know. if she did, beat that hoe ass.”
and thats what you did.
you set your smoothie down acting calm and went to the bathroom.
jack not knowing what you were going to do, he continued wanting to get under your skin.
you walked out the bathroom with your hair in a bun and immediately ran to punch the girl in the face.
she tried her hardest to fight back while you just were beating on her.
jack let you get your anger out on her so it wouldn’t be as bad on him but after about forty seconds he pulled you off, she girl not wanting to fight back.
jack told the girl get out while holding you to his chest.
“what no! you love me! you told me that jack!!”
“ok i lied, get out. i have to take care of my little princess.”
“fine.” she tried to put her clothes on but you picked up her shirt and got out of jacks grip, she ran after you for her shirt and you threw it out the door.
“fetch.”
the girl groaned and put her shirt on in the hall and waited for jack to bring her phone ect out.
jack placed it into your hands to give to her and you threw her things on the ground.
you slammed the door and all your anger now went towards jack.
you started walking up to him and were about to punch his face but he caught your arm.
you couldn’t help but get so mad to the point you cried, you were sick of getting treated like this, you were sick of getting humiliated, sick of jack saying “i loved you” to three different people other then you in one day.
jack pulled you to his chest and let you cling to his while you let it all out.
jack led you to the bedroom as you stopped crying.
“i love you baby..”
“no you dont.”
“if i didn’t i wouldn’t be with you, i love you.. just need time to express it and get ready to commit because i only want you.”
“jack i cant do this, im getting a plane ticket home for tomorrow, im not moving out but ill be in the guest room, until you can prove to me that you love me and stop bring all these women in your life. i cant, i love you but i cant.”
you started packing your things while jack couldn’t help but watch and cry.
he did love you.
but he loved to many other people to commit to you.
you left the room not sure where else to go except urbans room.
urban let you in with warm hugs and let you stay in the main room while he took the sofa.
you flew back the next day and jack wouldn’t stop texting you.
stinka💕- text me when you get home love, have a safe flight.
stinka💕- its been 4 hours, i know your home call me please.
stinka💕- mamas, i know you’re extremely upset with me and so exhausted because of everything i’ve put you through this year, but i love you. even if i cant show it right now, ma i love you. you know i do, i’ll be better for you i promise i will but i need you to call me so i know your safe, or text me even just a period. something please i need to know your okay. i know i messed up but i need you.
you- im fine jackman.
you turned your phone on dnd and laid down and started to watch childhood shows.
there was a knock at the front door, you took the blanket off yourself and went up to look out the window.
there was no one but flowers on the floor.
you huffed and went to get the flowers already knowing who sent them.
you put the flowers in a empty vase and read the note.
“y/n, i love you so much you dont even know. im so sorry for all the pain i’ve caused you, i just want you to forgive me. i’ll change my ways all the way, i want you to be happy and i haven’t been making you happy its my fault, instead of talking things out with you i go see other women and leave you alone to sleep by yourself, i’ll see you soon though my love♥️”
you kissed the note and brought it to your bedroom and put it on your nightstand.
you took your phone off dnd and called jack.
jack answered on the first ring and you immediately heard a sniffle when he answered.
“jack baby are you crying?”
“no.”
“jack baby face time me.”
jack pressed the face time button after wiping his face trying to look as presentable as possible.
you answered and could immediately tell he had been crying.
“jack babe, dont cry. i love you so much you’re stuck with me. you just have to stop acting the way you are, its hurting me really bad and its pushing me from you.”
“i promise to stop, mamas i need you..”
“ok babe, its not very smart for me to fly back out right now because i just left so maybe in like a week ill come back.”
“what no, come back tomorrow im getting your ticket right now.”
“jack-“
“i already brought it, you’re coming.”
“alright babe..”
“no ones going to get in the way of us anymore, we’re together forever. i love you.”
“forever and always?”
“forever and always, but you need some rest, goodnight my love the flights for 7:30.”
“ok goodnight jackie.”
jack hung up and cuddled with his pillow wishing it was you.
