{Reader's POV}

My manager mailed me the tickets to Monaco. I was flying in on the Sunday morning and then I was to meet some guy who was gonna be my fake boyfriend apparently. I reached Monaco around afternoon and rested in the hotel until the meeting time. She sent the guys's profile and number so that I could contact him, if I needed to. When I opened the profile, the name read Charles Leclerc. I'd heard about him; he was a driver for Ferrari and if you base your work out of Italy it's kinda hard to miss Charles or Ferrari. I got dressed and headed to the restaurant we decided to meet at. He was already waiting for me when I got there. He waved at me as soon as we saw each other. I walked towards him and raised my hand to greet him "Hi, I'm Y/N Y/L/N, your fake girlfriend." I said. He laughed then replied, "Hi, I'm Charles Leclerc, your fake boyfriend."

We sat together and talked for a while, going through the profile our teams had sent and made a few changes that we would be letting them know off. Charles was easy to be around and fun to talk to. We had dinner together and he dropped me back to my hotel. He even offered to drive me to the airport tomorrow but I denied his request since I didn't want to ruin the plan our teams had come up with.

We were supposed to date for a year till it would clear up our names. Our meeting was supposed to happen at a race, I was flying out in 2 weeks for. I would be Ferrari's guest and then Charles and I would hit it off, immediately. We would do a few public appearances and be 'caught by paps' make it believable, a few interviews and Instagram posts and then break up with a post or story. Simple as that.

Going to all these places to be spotted by paparazzi or to his races meant we spent a lot of time together. It felt so nice to have someone going through a similar situation. He was so nice to me, I had so much fun just hanging out with him. He made me laugh at his stupid jokes. He got me flowers even though the dates were fake. He bought us matching watches to make it believable. Even my actual boyfriend never put this much effort.

After a race, both of us got to the hotel together. He walked me to my room; "do you wanna chill and get room service?" I asked while I unlocked my door. "sure" Charles replied with a big smile. I let him in. We sat and ordered room service and watched a movie together. I got tired mid way through the movie and ended up laying my head on his shoulder. We ended up cuddling eventually. I don't remember when I slept but I slept like a baby in Charles's arms.

After a 'date' in Milan, we were walking back to my place. I had offered him a spare room since it would be weird if he stayed at a hotel when his girlfriend had a house. We walked back holding each others hands in silence. The comfort was warm and inviting. I may have been cuddling myself to sleep in Charles's arms the whole weekend he was there but no one has to know. I didn't sleep as well alone as I did with him. So whenever we were together, he offered to be my cuddle buddy. I think I'm starting to like him; this could be bad.

When Charles won the race, he walked towards me cupping my cheeks; "can I kiss you?" he asked softly barely above a whisper. I nodded my head and then he kissed me. It wasn't in the contract, we weren't supposed to kiss but we did. It was magical and warm and sweaty. The kiss ended to quickly for my liking but the cheers were deafening. I think I'm in trouble, I think I love him.

{Reader's POV}

Our contract was up in a couple days. We haven't be seen together for a few weeks now. It's breaking me not being with him. But this was a contracted relationship to help us both. I just never felt like this with any other guy.

{Charles's POV}

Mine and Y/N's relationship was a contractual obligation. But I never realised how close we got. That kiss we shared after my race win was everything. I felt electric shock through out my body as her lips moved against mine. It was then I knew that I loved her but it probably wouldn't work out since she didn't feel the same.

f1gossip Paddock's favourite couple has broken up after only 1 year. As if the universe was trying to get these two oblivious love birds together, Y/N opened the door with a packet of trash in her hand. "Charles" she whispered scared that he'll disappear if she said it out loud. "Hi" he greeted. "come in" she said while opening the door for him to enter. "I'll be right back" she said while walking out of the door. She disposed of the trash and came back to sit where Charles was sat in her living room. The chocolates and flowers still in hand. He stood up as soon as she entered. "For you" he said while thrusting them in her hands. She took the flowers and sniffed them, a small smile on her lips. "What are you doing here, so late?" she asked. "Ilikeyoulikealotandican'tlivewithoutyou" he blurted out. "Charlie, you're gonna have to say it slowly for me to understand" she said while placing the flowers and chocolate down to stand in front of him. He huffed out before speaking, "I think I like you. After we stopped seeing each other I couldn't imagine my life without you. I don't know when you became so important to me but I need you in my life" he said. She had tears in her eyes, she leapt forward and wrapped her arms around him; "I think I like you too Charlie, I couldn't sleep without, i couldn't eat. I knew I loved you when I was able to fall asleep in your arms. I'm so happy you feel the same" she whispered into his neck. Charles wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug. "I love you too mon cherie." he said while pulling away to look at her, "Will you be my girlfriend for real this time?" he asked looking into her eyes. "Yes" she nodded while pressing her lips against his.

Antis really think an unrealistic age gap is a problem in a FANTASY or SUPERNATURAL setting? Especially in the Bl3ach universe, where there's already a canon couple with that trope? Doesn't it sound silly?

They act as if Mortal X Immortal ships don't exist, as if they aren't a popular trope/dynamic in many forms of media. They call IR problematic because of it, but turn around & ship pairings like Yato & Hiyori (Noragami), Inuyasha & Kagome, Tomoe & Nanami (Kamisama Kiss), etc. Yet, they cross the line at IR?

They conveniently forget or ignore the fact Ichigo is a product of Isshin & Masaki, a canon couple that the antis support & like to use as "parallels" with their mid ship (even though those of us who can read know IM parallels IR). Isshin was probably way older than Masaki, older than Rukia even, yet once again, the antis cross the line at IR?

Hypocrisy, much? They only bring up the age gap when it's convenient for them. When they want to grasp at straws to invalidate IR. But all their arguments have a counter-argument to them 🤷‍♀️. IR is just that powerful 😌.

Ichigo & Rukia vibed so well right off the bat, getting on a first name basis early on, & often seemed to share the same brain cell 🤣.

Souls in Soul Society age much slower & differently than living humans. Rukia was the equivalent of Ichigo's age, so she was "15" in SS terms when they first met. Antis like to act as if she's some ancient hag or s*x goddess who's going to corrupt poor innocent Ichigo, yet Rukia showed to be quite innocent in many matters, not to mention, she thought kisses were only for greetings in one of the early chapters 💀. Out of the two, I'm pretty sure Ichigo would know more than her in these matters...

(I've also seen this stupid argument against HitsuKarin. They be calling Hitsugaya an "old man"!! Like, seriously?! How is he gonna "corrupt" Karin—by giving her a large stack of paperwork?! He's about 10-11 years old in SS terms, the equivalent of Karin's age, who was 11!! Then they both conveniently aged up to 12-13 after the 17-month timeskip... Just what was Kub0 getting at?!🤦‍♀️)

Not to mention, Ichigo felt very at home in Soul Society & got along so well with all the "ancient geezers & hags" there, even going as far as calling some of them by first name & hanging out with them like old buds (such as Renji). No wonder Ichigo didn't feel like he belonged in the Living World much; he really was born in the wrong generation (or world), lol... 🤪 He always showed to be more in touch with his shinigami side... (no wonder he chose that out of all his hybrid sides in TYBW, & yet... 😮‍💨)

Anyway, don't engage with the antis. Ignore/block/mute them. Follow the age-old fandom rule: just ship & let ship. Don't let the antis ruin your fun. There's so much IR content out there 😄.

I hope you don’t mind me answering but I think people would be more receptive and less nasty if it wasn’t Tommy. As much as I enjoy bucktommy there’s always a part of me that also wishes they had picked someone less controversial for his LI. I would think overt homophobia and the wishes for him to die wouldn’t happen on a grand scale bc I think people feel comfortable saying it bc they’re wishing death on someone they consider problematic so it’s ok in their eyes. I do think they would still be subjected to an insane amount of scrutiny and you would still see the bad faith takes about thier relationship but it would be hidden behind them wanting his LI to be “better” to him. If Albert made the daddy joke they’d still say he’s making fun of his trauma, they’d say he’s a bad person for leaving the date and overall just a bad person for Buck but with less of the hostility that comes with Tommy bc people think Tommy’s past justifies how they act towards him now.

yeah. I think it’s likely there would still be a lot of hate, but possibly not as much. I kinda agree on the choosing someone a bit less controversial, but at the same time I always enjoy redemptions and definitely enjoy just how well it all worked out, and it wouldn’t have worked in that same way with anyone else.

Y’all Lestans need to STAY MAD! 😂🤣 Once again, I agree with everything Ty said. These nuggets in particular are absolute gold.

So let's address the books. First, stop--IDGAF about what's in the books, it doesn't matter, stop bringing them up, it's redundant. From what I've seen, a lot of the Lestat sympathizers seem to think that the books should be some sort of prerequisite or mandatory reading in order to consume the show . That's stupid. I haven't read the books, but I'm pretty sure that Claudia wasn't 14 in the books! I'm definitely sure that Louis wasn't BLACK in the books! And I'm D@MN SURE that Lestat didn't drop Louis from 100+ feet in the air in the books! So if those things aren't even in the books, what sense does it make to constantly bring up the books, when we're talking about the actions in the show?! (1:58 - 2:38)

And I’ve seen the same Lestans throwing SO MUCH shade at Ty on Tumblr, who’ve also outright said that they KNOW Rolin’s NOT doing the Lestat from the books! This is NOT their precious uwu blorbo, yet they go BALLISTIC when show-onlies say AMC!Lestat’s a p.o.s!? Lestans stay mad cuz of 1x5, and CONSTANTLY complain that they wish the last half of Ep5 never happened, cuz it changes Lestat’s character oh he would never do such a thing~! Even though IN THE BOOKS he’s still a p.o.s. abusive rapist cheater liar pedo etc, so WTF? I’m a book reader, and I’ve seen the movies, so I DO treat them as prerequisites for my own approach to AMC’s adaptation, and I DO recommend that everyone have that extra context, but I’d never say anyone is REQUIRED to read the books or watch the movie in order to have valid takes on the show--even if those are takes I don’t agree with. Many people in the comments kept bringing up the books or telling me that I don't understand Gothic media and there are no good guys and bad guys and everyone's the villain and blah blah blah. Please shut up. Y'all use that as a CRUTCH, to turn your brains off and avoid analyzing bad behavior. Just because a show is gothic and meant to show horrendous sh*t doesn't mean I have to like or absolve a character OF that horrendous sh*t, and I can STILL enjoy the show that HAS that horrendous sh*t! I know--shocker! (0:57 -1:32) ....Now onto this idea that consuming Gothic media somehow means I shouldn't acknowledge or talk about a character's sh*tty behavior...I can enjoy...a dark show that's meant to be Gothic & dark and still feel my feelings towards certain characters; especially when that character is a driving force behind the narrative. And if feelings are supposed to be taken out of it, why is it okay for YOU to love Lestat, but ME hating him is a problem???? This is especially stupid, because the people saying things like this are the same people who hate Armand--and not in the love to hate kind of way--they just HATE him, and that's fine, but God forbid someone hate Lestat; then suddenly oh it's a Gothic show blah blah blah (5:53 - 6:34)

Just say y’all like Lestat cuz he’s cute~! 😂 You just wanna self-insert all your sexual fantasies into the character you’re most sexually attracted to, and not have to think about or be reminded of his problematic actions, and all the critics out here calling Lestat out are ruining your fun and drying your juices. THAT’S FINE! Just say that, and leave the people who WANT to analyze the show more seriously ALONE.

And then there are those of you who also say that I'm an Armand sympathizer or apologist because I believe his actions are more justified than Lestat’s--which many of you have misrepresented as me implying anything he did was good. NO. I just believe that he's more justified in comparison to Lestat, and I stand on that until further notice, and you can stay mad about it! (1:37- 1:58)

PREACH! Even in the books, Armand HAD A POINT! Like I’ve always said about him: He does wrong things for the right reasons--the road to Hell is paved with good intentions! He’s a religious fanatic cult/gang leader who’s been brainwashed into believing those garbage Great Laws, and is trying to maintain some sense of order, whenever Lestat & his fledglings come bringing nothing but chaos to his doorstep. Is he effed up for doing the things he does? Absolutely. But LESTAT is the one I blame more, for not warning his family about Armand & the coven--not back in NOLA, and not back in Paris. 

So apparently Armand forced Lestat to be part of that Trial in the books or whatever--I don't know, I haven't read the books.... You're so desperate to save face on Lestat's behalf, that you're revealing sh*t that the show hasn't even revealed yet. If you are not able to justify Lestat's actions within the realm OF THE SHOW, with what we know so far, shut up!!! Now if it turns out to be true, I have have no problem acknowledging that, and I can give Lestat grace in that specific instance. However, I'm still not going to FORGET about HOW HE TREATED LOUIS AND CLAUDIA--he was still abusive, I'm not absolving him of that, and I said as much in my video when I said no matter what he went through, what he did to them will NEVER be justified! (4:44 - 5:53) ... Maybe this is news to you guys, but you CAN understand a character, and why they do the things they do, without absolving them of the sh*tty things that they do. I can understand Lestat and why he behaves the way he does, and I'm sure Season 3 will provide even greater understanding, and I'm excited for that. But that doesn't mean everything he does suddenly becomes justified or is to be dismissed; that's not how that works. (12:38 - 13:04)

What I want to see is Les realize that despite the trauma he went through in the past, he’s done nothing but project his issues & hangups onto Louis & Claudia in the present, and that they didn’t deserve being thrust into his cycle of generational trauma just cuz Les didn’t know how TF to properly process his abandonment issues from depressed!Gabrielle ignoring him all his life to read books (#Louis); the abusive!Marquis not letting Les leave home to get an education or be an actor (”come play chess with your father”) (#Claudia); suicidal!Magnus raping him into vampiricism then abandoning/orphaning him without ever teaching him how to survive on his own (#Marquis/Gabrielle); depressed!insane!Nicki deliberately spiting Les and wanting him to suffer like he was suffering (”I hoped we would fail in Paris!”) (#Louis); know-it-all!/holier-than-thou!Marius abandoning Les for waking Akasha after Les had left everything behind & wandered around for so long looking for him & looking for answers Marius GAVE HIM, then reneged on when he got jealous Akasha liked him more (#Marquis/Louis).

I was also very clear on why I don't think [Armand] is worse. Yes he orchestrated the Trial, yes he did, he's sh*tty, I agree. But LESTAT IS CLAUDIA’S DAD. He participated! That is worse to me, and you're not going to convince me otherwise, until Season 3 gives me a reason to believe otherwise.... And I really don't understand why y'all are so intent to focus more on the fact that Armand lied for 70+ years, as opposed to Lestat helping getting his daughter killed. That sh*t actually confounds me. Oh, Armand erased Louis’ memories and lied about directing the Trial for 77 years omg he's clearly the villain~! Lestat dropped Louis from the sky just because Louis considered leaving with Claudia! And then later on he got Claudia killed! Like, hello?! At least with Armand we already know that he had it in him to kill Louis; he contemplated doing it when Louis didn't join the coven [in 2x3], so you expect me to suddenly clutch my pearls because he was prepared to let Louis die AGAIN? NO! ...Is he sh*tty? YES. Is he worse than Lestat? NO, not to me! He was NOT attached to Louis and Claudia like Lestat was. Two decades [Lestat] lived with them; two decades of living under the same roof, and he's their Maker, apparently sharing the Vampire Bond [with Claudia], and apparently he loved Claudia! But you expect me to be more mad at Armand...this random dude that they ran into and spent some time with for a few years, over the man who created them had a bond with them lived with them for two decades and then abused the sh*t out of them and then gets one of them killed! But he loves them~!... And I know a lot of you will stick to the idea that it's not about assigning blame and figuring out who's worse than who--f**k that! I have eyes and I know what I saw, and what I saw I did not like. (9:59 - 12:24)

Louis, for example, CANONICALLY ON THE SHOW has not killed anyone since the year 2000.... This point proves that they ARE capable of having some type of personal morality, and DEFINITELY when it comes to them dealing with EACH OTHER. I CAN hold them accountable for the sh*t that they do! They experience remorse, they experience empathy, they are intelligent beings who DO know right from wrong to some degree. When it comes to each other...morality is why Lestat is apologetic to Louis! Morality is why Louis comes back crawling to Lestat expressing his own regrets for how he treated Lestat, even though in my personal opinion Louis was completely justified in his treatment of Lestat (but that's besides the point)! And it's how they're able to understand that what Bruce did to Claudia was WRONG! If they were just all-round immoral creatures, we wouldn't have the show, or at least not an interesting one! So yes they are fully capable of having morals and acting within those morals. Yes are they deep and complex and it's not black and white when it comes to how they interact and what they've been through...but I'm still able and IN MY RIGHT to analyze their behaviors and how they treat each other and still deem it wrong. They themselves do it! Why am I as a viewer burdened with the idea that I shouldn't be judging them for their horrible actions, when they themselves are!? That doesn't compute; try again (13:04 - 15:19).

AR’s vampires ARE still inherently human; that’s the whole point. She DIDN’T want to portray vampires as stock monsters with no souls or concept of morality. And that’s also why I disagree with what Sam Reid said about not seeing one vampire as good or another as bad. I can TOTALLY see some of these vampires as good or bad, wtf--Santiago & Bruce are inherently BAD. Sure, Armand & Lestat are more COMPLEX than they are, but that doesn’t mean they can’t EVER be seen as bad either! But y’all Louis-antis & Claudia-antis talk about how they’re p.o.s. people too! I don't have to agree with Anne Rice or the showrunners or the actors. My opinion is my opinion; stop trying to enforce this idea that because these people see it differently that we should all see it that way too. Once you put art out there, it is no longer yours; it is up for the audience to interpret! INTENT DOES NOT NEGATE IMPACT. This is a fundamental concept when it comes to writing for an audience: it doesn't matter what your intention was! If the audience sees it a different way, then you have to live with that!... hi!! 😊 i liked that christian was a major red herring. it was nice to be validated even though i was expecting it. i like christian but i think he is a little too similar to tabby to be interesting as a love interest. they are the male and female versions of each other 🤣

johnny deserved better. although i think he was a little too understanding with imogen at times, he knew she was going through it and i respect him for that. the way she demanded to see his texts and look at his search history was such a red flag. of course i get it in this context but irl that would not be okay. maybe imogen need to be single for a while.

i don’t like jen. i will never like jen. she’s manipulative and a liar. i will never excuse how she deflected and made noa the bad guy in the conversation where noa attempted to confront her about robbing shawn’s house. how their shippers ignore that problematic behavior is beyond me. i’m sad that she will be in season 3. at least i’m not alone in this as i’ve seen a lot of people complaining about this ship in the pll original sin instagram comments. i hope the writers hear our complaints. it has made noa my least favorite liar when i used to love her.

You are so right about Christian! I should have trusted my 2x01/2x02 gut that he was a red herring, but then I got so suspicious of the fact that no one was suspicious of him when they obviously should be. jksdhfksdf. I'm still baffled by how Tabby didn't think to put either Wes or Christian on their original suspect list, considering their love of horror and the masks stuff, but I'm just gonna have to learn to accept that. I'm glad Christian was good too, though. I never wanted him to be bad, just was very suspicious he might be. They definitely gave him some dialogue that pointed his way. But he was a good red herring! He worked until the finale when they started getting suspicious and then I knew it wasn't him.

I have said it once and I will say it again, Johnny is quite literally the chillest dude on the planet (😂 this will never stop being funny to me, I am sorry). I'm also glad that he's not bad because I think he's an enjoyable addition to the cast and I hope he is in next season (again, assuming they get a next season) because we still know almost nothing about him, so they could do a lot of fun things with his character. But I do think Imogen needs to take some time, regardless of the Johnny stuff (I mean, he really should NOT want to date her ever again because she nearly killed him??) because this was a mess. I also think all the girls (but particularly Imogen and Tabby) do still need mental healthcare, but obviously not with Dr. Sullivan.

Aaaaahhh, the Jen stuff. I just kept thinking there was going to be some sort of reveal/resolution that made the Jen stuff feel like it worked in the season and had a reason to be there. I had so many possible scenarios I was willing to accept. and yet, they managed to find one which was none of them??? I can't believe I sat through so much love triangle crap for literally no payout. I hate love triangles and the only redeeming quality is that they usually have a big blowout scene when it all comes out, but they didn't even give us that???? It will be interesting (assuming they get a season 3) to see if they respond to the criticism like they did with the Ezra thing, because a lot of people feel Noa's carelessness about the situation (and she was super, super manipulative towards Shawn throughout this, as well) ruined her character for them. Now, I think it's fine to tear a character down and need to build them back up, and I think it's good to see the Liars engage in flawed behavior, the problem I have here is... they (the show) have given no indication that they think they actually DID tear Noa's character down? Like, I am sorry, but her behavior was flat out cruel and she felt a tiny bit bad about it for like 2 seconds and faced absolutely 0 consequences, and that, not that she made some terrible decisions, is the real problem here. It's not "tearing a character down to build them back up" or even "giving a character flaws" if those things are never acknowledged as flaws and terrible behavior in the first place? Ugh. There was just so much potential with this storyline (literally so much!) and they just threw it all straight in the trash.

Thank you @blackmonitor for the tag! Here we go! I kept thinking about how I should make this list because throughout my life I had too many fictional crushes 🤣 So I decided to make a "retrospective" of those who stayed in my mind for a greater time!

(actually, I decided to go crazy and explain the freaking list 😬 I've been working and studying so hard and I miss so much this type of silly fun thing that I completely overdid it 🤭)

1. Luke Skywalker - little me used to be obsessed with him and he remained unmatched in the Star Wars universe for several years until a certain blue guy took his place! But even now he's still a crush of mine.

2. Sirius Black - Sirius remained unmatched not only in the HP universe but for teenager me he was my absolute favorite. It all began when I developed this weird sympathy at the beginning of the 3rd book and the obsession skyrocketed at the end for obvious reasons.

3. Anakin Skywalker - judge all you want but this is a sad truth in my early teen years. He didn't top his son, obviously, but considering Luke wasn't even born 99% of the prequels... I know some people will find this very problematic, but rest assured I don't like this character the way I liked him 20 years ago but I had to list him here because it's part of my story I and think this whole thing quite hilarious today.

4. Aragorn - Aragorn was my LOTR crush back when I was younger! Even though he is not anymore I still understand all the appeal the younger me saw! Totally worth mentioning

5. Sesshoumaru - It was the beginning of my anime/manga era, which lasted many years, and if I had to pick a few crushes Sesshoumaru HAS to be one of them. I read many fics about him and these fics were the reason I managed to learn English 70% on my own (I know, speaking and writing skills are not the best, but reading and listening which are the ones I use the most are ok). I'm not much into anime/manga anymore but every time I look at him I feel I go back in time!

6. Kira Sakuya (Angel Sanctuary) - Even though I would not read this manga again because this is not the type of material I feel good reading anymore I do used to be obsessed about it and this character (be aware of great spoilers if you google it). I had to mention him because back then I had a great time.

7. Elrond - After I don't know how many times rewatching LOTR something was drastically changed (I got a little bit older I guess) inside of me and now Elrond has my heart (I won't say he is unmatched because Tolkien has simply too many characters in all his creation and well... You know...)

8. Solas - I think we finally have a crush that comes from a fully adult phase of my life! When I played Dragon Age: Inquisition I was away from games for a few years and I took this one out of pure intuition from my brother's selection. My intuition was 100% right and after many stressful years I went back to a world that made me feel at home and because Solas was my crush back then I had to mention him!

9. Thrawn - My most recent obsession hahaha. Not so recent though because it's been (at least) 5 years since he appeared in my life and Luke lost his number 1 title. There are way too many things I can say about my history with this character but thinking back to when I first read the old trilogy I think is interesting to note that I remember not liking him that much at first and not considering him crush material. I've never been so wrong 😅

I agree with you to a point. I do know that they made fun of Taylor but her dating him is not gonna have people stop supporting her like it would for black people. That's all I'm saying. Also to be fair I'm not a Swiftie so she ain't on my timeline lol. Yes celebs get judged for who they date in general I said that in my last post. It just seems like black people and specifically black women get judged harsher. Also just cause the black community calls things out all the time doesn't always make it right. I love and hate that about us. Sometimes we do speak up and will call out the bullsh*t but then there are times when we just be saying negative things especially against our own for no reason or for clout and excuse it as tough love or jokes. I always hated that mentality. Like "I talk about you cause I care and if I didn't that means I don't." I personally think that is problematic. Not saying black women are above critique but they are always being over-analyzed whereas someone like Timothee will still be fine even if they make jokes about who he dates. They won't be biased against him, but to me they will with black women.

Well, black women (blk ppl period tbh) just get judged way harsher than ppl of other races just in general, so you're not wrong about that.

I do feel that the black community could stand to be a little kinder to each other, and give some of us some mercy every once in a while. So I totally agree with you that sometimes we can take criticism of others (even our own) a bit too far at times. 🥴😔 There's a very high bullying mentality in the AA culture imo. Not only is Mammon the very first character I ever saw from WHB, I love both his design & his personality 😍 I think it's because I have seen so many characters similar in a sense of how possessive he can be, the fact his reaction to MC is "I'm yours" rather than "You're mine" is a pleasant surprise 💝 Even more so that he's the Avatar of Greed who believes everything belongs to him yet he's willing to be theirs made me feel for him (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠) Not that you mentioned it, Mammon is like a dog 🐶 while Satan is like a cat 😺 I do think orange is pretty but I didn't realise that it's look like rich honey 🍯 I still think gold would be more suiting for him though 🤔

Okay, I am gonna ask on the Beifong sisters. Suyin und Lin!

Oooh, the Beifong sisters! I would totally watch a spin-off with nothing but Beifong drama. That's how much I love this family, warts and all precisely because in their imperfections they're so fascinating. @mikaharuka also wanted to know about them so let's begin with the elder, dutiful sister, the one and only Chief Lin "that lady is my hero" Beifong and I'll get to Su in a separate post.

Besides being a workaholic and married to her job, I believe Lin is queer (undefined but definitely not straight) and demiromantic.

OTP for Lin? Lin/happiness. Although I enjoy Kyalin, I don’t really have a strong OTP for her but I want her to live her best life with whoever she chooses. I’ve seen her shipped with a lot of characters and it’s funny how she’s been paired with both of Tenzin’s siblings. One ship I admit I find intriguing is one that I stumbled upon through a fanart and it’s Lin/Iroh II and honestly, I can see it work. Yeah, she’s older than him but it’s about the same age difference as the canonical Tenzin/Pema. Besides. Lin is hot and she definitely doesn’t move or look like a woman in her fifties so age ain’t nothing but a number here. I can get behind cougar Lin 😉

3: brotp 

Mako. Although she still has a good relationship with her old flame Tenzin, I believe Mako is the closest to a BROTP for her. I’ve seen Lin romantically paired with Mako but personally, I prefer the “momboss and detectiveson” dynamic for them. They just understand each other well since they’re both the oldest children and they had to carry the burden of responsibility early in their lives.  I also like to think that she could be a great mentor and friend to Kuvira and I love the idea of the two of them sharing drinks while spilling the beans about Suyin.

Although I like the enemies to friends to lovers dynamic, I don’t see her with Tarrloq.

5: first headcanon that pops into my head 

The reason Lin and Tenzin spent a lot of time together growing up is Aang, since he was for all intents and purposes, Lin and Su’s main father figure. Like Tenzin once noted, “my father and Lin got along famously.” After training with Tenzin, he would take some time to practice earthbending with the Beifong girls and Lin admitted that Aang made learning more fun that her mom. It took her a long time to recover from Aang’s demise so part of her initial skepticism toward Korra is the fact that it reminded her that Aang was gone and this chaotic energetic girl was his successor.

Giant disclaimer lol: I am a cis woman. If I ever somehow mischaracterize or misunderstand something about being trans because that is not my own experience, I am absolutely open to being corrected and will always delete anything problematic. Also, because the quotes in question were not written with the intent of being about a trans character, but rather inspired that characterization in a later adapatation, they’re not going to be perfect. (And there’s some underlying sexism in the passages because 18whatever). 

(When talking about the Yuumori character, I refer to Irene as they/them and Bond as he/him.)

ANYWAY, I got really excited by these ACD canon bits that clearly inspired the Yuumori interpretation of Irene! 

(I totally forgot that in canon Irene gets married and Sherlock’s first encounter with her is when he’s dragged in, in disguise, to act as witness at the last minute, which he finds hilarious. 🤣)

Anyway, I know people occassionally pop up trying to argue that James Bond is not a man (thankfully haven’t seen it lately). But I just feel like they’re missing everything that builds up to the death of Irene. EVERY time a situation calls for a disguise, Irene dresses as a man, even when it’s not strictly necessary (at the ball, for example, a female disguise would have worked fine as well). And as their counterpart in the BBC adaptation said, “ You know the big problem with a disguise, Mr. Holmes? However hard you try, it's always a self-portrait.” (Sidenote: lookin’ at you, Dean Winchester, with your campy little costumes that you get so excited to put on.) 

I believe that Irene sees femininity as a tool; the best one they have with which to enact change in the world. I don’t think they have extreme dysphoria, but given the opportunity they are always most comfortable as a man. Beauty and womanhood were all they had with which to be able to reach into places of power and make a difference, but the second the Moriarty brothers come along and say, “Here is a way that you can be part of change as a man,” Irene is happily discarded and James Bond emerges.

And after that, when disguise is called for, James simply...wears a costume. When he goes undercover at Scotland Yard he just puts on a police uniform. He doesn’t even wear a wig. He seems much less invested in going all out with disguise once it’s no longer affording him a small opportunity to live as he is most comfortable. 

As for the slightly odd moment when Irene reappears after Sherlock comes back, that’s a big part of why I don’t see James as having significant dysphoria. I think he’s perfectly capable of having fun spending a night all done up in a dress, once in a very long while, but he’s not nearly as keen on it as he was on dressing as a man when he was living as a woman. He and Sherlock have this kind of back-and-forth game of messing with each other’s heads via disguises and unexpected moves so I think he was just enjoying startling Sherlock with a callback to when they met. (And being sentimental, too.) Also since their goal was to make a big fuss and cause a distraction, having not one but two famous people suddenly reappear after being “dead” was a useful tactic. 

Anyways, while Bond/Moneypenny is my favourite of the (many) Bond ships, if we see a character pop up in Yuumori with any variation of the name Godfrey Norton, we’re getting a new ship. 🤣

Tell you what, what they did to my beloved Marwa is problematic af because it's 2022 and it's not possible that female characters are still treated like this.

Anyway... I still hope that they will bring her back somehow since the character is so universally loved!

That said, the rest of the ep felt normal to me. We're in the part of the story where everything is bad (Nadja's club is failing, baby Colin is not so much a baby which means that at some point Laszlo will have to deal with Colin's death, Nandor is at his worst and really close to lose Guillermo; Guillermo got his first heartbreak) so it made sense to me.

And Freddie falling in love with Freddie was brilliant...

About Nandermo: I'm sorry but Nandor's reaction to Freddie is the most in character reaction ever.
