sorry ive been trying to avoid talking about the movie but oh my god has anyone else seen this because i feel like im going insane reading it. theres so much wrong with this why is there such a massive gap between some of these thats clearly only there because of how famous the actor is and not because of how big a role theyre playing . why is the guy voicing the main character so low on the list . why is the bottom 3 just every single woman in the cast . hello. its so dark in here

#thats not to say some of the ones getting paid less arent famous i just meant some names are more recognizable than others #i mean its not surprising the sonic movies have always seemed to have more respect for the live action cast than the voice cast #and among the voice cast more respect for the big name celebrities than the more experienced voice actors #but god damn #i know hollywood is just like this sometimes but that doesnt make it less ridiculous #i made a joke a while back that maybe the lack of knuckles screentime in the knuckles show is because idris elba is expensive #and now im starting to actually believe that because wtf .#are amy and rouge not in the movie because they spent all their money on the celebrity cast . come on man

had a lot of time on my hands today so i read the comic adaptation of the 2004 movie and this part was like the one thing i liked. make that man miss his family! make him clutch a picture of them to his chest and cry! yeah!

#marvel #frank castle #the punisher #everything else about this comic was worse than the movie #from the various -phobias and -isms to just. the way it was paced #the pacing was so bad it made me genuinely need to take a break and stare across the hall #like damn. speedrunning this? this whole thing?#it was a 3-parter and entirety of part 1 was the first 10 minutes of the movie #and then the other 2 were the rest. THATS INSANE #but yeah something about frank telling himself hes not going to grieve because its pointless and stupid and he has to be cold and strong #and then breaking down into tears anyway. something about that is good #god if i think about it too long i get sad. my baby

a few days ago i (re)watched the 25th anniversary concert of les misérables and. oh god. i forgot how much this musical did éponine dirty

#partly javert too but éponine is the clearer victim #of simplifying complex characters into more easily lovable (or villainous in javert's case) archetypes #so the audience can root or despise them accordingly #(i think cocciante's nddp is also guilty of this but imo there this adaptation choice makes more sense and is better executed)#say what you want about the 2012 movie and you'd probably be right... but at least they tried and partially succeded in giving éponine back #her complex moral ambiguity with not giving cosette's letter to marius and selfishly goading him into a sorta murder/suicide plan #which more or less is what happens in the book #(javert is also allowed to be more than a caricatural villain. i mean... russell crowe's singing is. Not Great #but at least the script show the character's many layers. or it attempts to #nvm that i don't even consider javert a villain. he's 100% an antagojist but far from the main villain of the story #he's both victim and perpetrator. the law and society at large are the villains here. he's actually a good cop... which is the point!)#éponine in the book is a multilayered bordering on grey and easily the most complex female character of the whole book #but god. in the musical she's just there pining for marius and being all Saint Éponine of Saint Michel #it's insufferable. i mean i still like her but she's TOO perfect. i wouldn't have had such an issue with it if i didn't read the book #.... probably. but damn we were robbed. les mis miniseries with actually accurate depictions of the characters/the plot in general when???#(preferably made by someone who *understands* the book. tyvm)#having said that i still love the musical to pieces. the music is great the songs are beautiful the story is touching #and the epilogue makes me uglycry every damn time. but i think we really missed a chance with éponine ngl #val speaks #txt

Tv glow has officially earned its way to the spot of movies that left me stuck with a overwhelming sense of dread so intense I felt sick hours after my viewing

#a place that only fire walk with me had at first and the ending of twin peaks s3 #god damn man this movie #I’ve never had a movie that made me just uncontrollably sob during most of it before #to the point I was just brought to complete and utter silence #I recommend this and were all going to the worlds fair to anyone #worlds fair ending absolutely brought me into tears as well but the just #utter horror I felt watching the last sequence of tv glow is absolutely unbeatable #a movie that if my mind stays on it for too I long I feel a sense of sickening dread so powerfull I feel like sobbing #what a movie #jontalks #I’ve seen the theres still time still a lot before I saw the movie but the way it felt like the rug was pulled out from me when I saw the #context of it in scene made me shake so intensely #one of the rare movies that left me feeling such intense emotions since eeaao
