I wish people understood that a female character being written by a dude who objectify and sexualize her is not her fault but the writter's, and that going on about the importance of not sexualizing female characters while simultaneously using said sexualization as a reason to sprout misogynistic remarks about and dehumanising sexualized female characters just shows your hypocrisy and how little you actually care about women.

and like, despite the deliciously shippable couples it has, Twinkling Watermelon is not a romcom, it’s a fantasy coming-of-age. the theme is family, the main relationship is between Eun Gyeol and his father and while their respective romantic storylines are crucial, they’re not central.

which is nice, on the one hand, because it offers a slightly different (and beautiful) kind of story, but then because instead of being [main couple] > [second couple] it’s [son and dad] > [son’s gf and mom], it ends up letting down Eun Yoo and Cheong-ah a bit and leaving their resolutions a bit rushed / open ended (you know, like how in other shows you’ll see the second couple standing together at the main characters’ wedding but no actual, solid resolution).

so the final scene of the show is primarily a bonding moment and a resolution for Yichan and Eun Gyeol, and you don’t get much of Cheongchan and a very quick last-moment wrapping up of Euneun (and like. what happened to our girls in the years in between?? we need answers!)

Idc how pretty Topaz tries to dress it up, she's quite LITERALLY asking Bronya to sell Belobog to a corporation for a contract that by all means shouldn't even be legally viable if the IPC themselves thought Belobog was dead.

And lets face it, this isn't about making Belobog progress as a world and giving them Interstellar Travel, the IPC just wants Belobog to be open to trade so that way they can extort them for all their resources and take it for themselves. That's why all those dudes in black went straight to the mines to look at the Geomarrow for "asset evaluation". They want to take the Geomarrow for an unfair price, and lock Belobog in a long contract that would make it so they'd essentially be both owned by the IPC and never able to pay off that debt anyways.

All in all, the IPC are a bunch of a colonizers who go from world to world sucking them dry of all their stuff, and making it impossible for other planets to really explore the galaxy without them being present in some way. I'd say it's comically evil but it's actually just an America allegory if we're being honest here like that just sounds like the US Government but if they had cool fancy spaceships with guns instead of tanks.

And it's not like Bronya can say no to this offer, because Topaz made it clear to Svarog earlier that there's no way they can ever beat the IPC if they refuse the contract and don't pay back their debts.

Misogyny is so crazy cause Cersei is one of the best-written characters in the books and genuinely has the complexity + nuance that Jaime stans (*cough*dick-riders*cough*) swear he has but since she's a female character, she gets reduced to a prop in his story. Minimally satisfying is the fact that even when they demonize her to hell and back, they can't find any way to make him seem interesting without bringing her up. His "redemption arc" is just his stans going "Doesn't he look so much better in comparison to Cersei?" and pretending that being in Brienne's proximity will magically purify him. The irony of people (i.e. his misogynistic stans) largely reducing him to his relationships with two female characters isn't lost on me. If they didn't hate women so much they could just enjoy Cersei's character, but I guess they like settling for crumbs of character development.
