Gale is that malewife ken-coded husband to his wife he will do anything for.
Matilda is the girlboss wife, she wants to become a detective, though it's very difficult. Sometimes she has to do dirty work in order to get what she wants.
Gale may or may not be willing to do the same, though not in the way Matilda does it. She does things methodically and quietly. Taking advantage of word, minds and weaknesses.
Gale on the other hand, does things more hands-on. He's worked on railroads for many years before his current journalist job, so he's extremely physically fit.
On off days, the pair like to dance together, while Gale sings to his wife. It brings her immense joy.
Matilda has many plants, she's not a gardener like her sister, but she shares a similar green thumb interest. Though hers are more towards ferns, ficus, and other such greens than flowery plants.
Gale and his cousin Riley don't talk much, Riley still wonders why Gale left all of a sudden because Gale never gave a reason why. But Gale does mail to him, and well as to his mother, who is sick in a hospital. Gale's father left a long time ago.
Matilda, Marie, and Tony's parents are both still alive and around, just two old folks living peacefully at home.
⸻⸻⸻
Marie will give you a flower nickname once she gets to know you well. Being a florist, she just loves flower symbolism.
She also calls everyone dear on default. She has that sweet motherly energy to her that warms the heart.
Despite how unconditionally sweet she is, if she senses any of her loved ones are in danger, she will use physical force if necessary. She is far from a pushover.
She's lactose intolerant, but she still can't help but consume dairy products sometimes.
⸻⸻⸻
Because Tony feels indifferent to words, he's more of an "action speak louder than words" kind of guy. You want to impress him? Show him, don't tell him, otherwise he doesn't give a damn. You want him to know how much you like him? "I love you" isn't going to cut it on a first date, how is he supposed to know how genuine you are? You absolutely despise him? Attack him. He doesn't care about your mean little words, you better show him how much you hate him.
He has a knack for ice skating and ballet, two skills that were crammed into him when he was younger, but he doesn't mind them that much. Though he likes his piano skill more.
Because of his knowledge on medical procedures when he was working to become a surgeon before quitting, he is a great help if you need some assistance fast but don't want or can't afford a hospital. Just don't tell anyone because he doesn't technically have a medical license.
Tony has hyperopia (farsightedness), meaning things up close are blurry for him. Which is why he has glasses, but usually he doesn't need to wear them all the time doing regular stuff, he mainly uses them for work so he can see what he's doing precisely and clearly.
⸻⸻⸻
People often mistake Riley for being scary because he's big and doesn't talk much if not at all, but in actuality he is just socially inept and would rather give you a pat on the back than punch you in the face.
If he's at a party, a place with a lot of people mingling, he would not talk at all. Complete silence. All you would get from him are nods, headshakes, facial expressions, and grunts.
The bigger the crowd the less he speaks.
The only exception of this is if he's on the job. Lots of people could be around or in a burning building, but he still has to give orders, call out to victims, etc.
He has a pet dove named Petunia.
Since Riley lives up north, his fur is usually always very fluffy all the time, especially during the winter. If he goes down south and stays for a while, he's going to shed a LOT. Expect clumps of fur in shower drains.
⸻⸻⸻
(I got bored one day and decided to plan out Dot's future so yea)
After 18 years pass from 1927 into 1945, when Dot is 23, she begins her career as a singer/musician. She plays several popular genres at the time throughout the 40s, like country, jazz, etc. Trying to find her footing. She has a few song that are received really well, but nothing big. Yet.
Years pass and it's 1954, rockabilly starts and is growing. Dot is 32 at this point and she goes into rockabilly which evolves into rock and roll and Dot evolves with it, that's when she started to become a big hit. She specializes in rock music, becoming one of the most popular female singers, even at age 50 in 1972 she's putting on shows and cameoing with other singers/bands. She's not one who retires as she ages, she wants to make music til the day she dies.
Until at age 61, 1983, she has a big vocal chord injury which stops her from singing for some years, something she was warned about in her 50s after she experienced some vocal strain back then. Though despite the damage done to her voice, 7 years later after some rest and surgery, age 68 in 1990, she come back to record some more original songs and features in others, but less bombastic and more mellow since her voice was a bit deeper and raspy. Which was a good move since she couldn't sing rock anymore, and her new voice went well with the genre shift.
She did so for 10 years until her voice forced her to quit singing altogether age 78, 2000. Though she didn't stop playing guitar, her main instrument of choice since she was young, making a few instrumental tracks and cameoing in other songs, until her death in 2008 at age 86. Playing music until the end just like she wanted to.After 18 years pass from 1927 into 1945, when Dot is 23, she begins her career as a singer/musician. ⸻⸻⸻
I started to like Marie and Walter the drummer getting together. Marie doesn't mind being on the sidelines she just wants a happy quiet life, then there's this guy who is always on the sidelines ignored all the time. I imagined Marie giving him flowers, making him feel special, but also helping him feel content in being an average joe that's not caught up in a lotta things. I just think it's pretty cute
⸻⸻⸻
Just like his cousin, Gale is also good with kids! But not in the way Riley does it. Riley is tender and nurturing, Gale is fun and silly. But that doesn't mean he's irresponsible, he wouldn't go give a child a knife. In fact, someday in the future, Gale and Matilda become parents. The amount of children they have are unknown yet since I haven't decided.
⸻⸻⸻
Like it says in Gale's bio, he is partially deaf. It's his left ear that cannot hear anything at all, the most would probably be faint muffling if you get up real close to it, but that's weird so don't do that.
He's had several instances where people mistake him for being completely deaf in both ears, sometimes it caused some people to scream directly in his face, thinking that if they are loud enough he could hear. He's had to correct that he can hear you loud and clear from his right ear, right after it stops ringing-
Sometimes they think they can say whatever they want as clear as day right next to him. It got awkward when Gale turned to look at them.
Sometimes he's even had a couple cases of people mistaking him for being blind, not deaf. Those were very awkward instances.
⸻⸻⸻
Riley doesn't respect cops. He despises people who take advantage of their position of power. Considering his own job and what he's lost and the many other things he's witnessed on the job, it's no brainer.
Riley still lives in Rochester Minnesota, he can't uproot his job to leave. If he's ever downstate, he's just visiting his cousin, but he won't stay.
⸻⸻⸻
If you recall that one short comic where Mitzi was getting pictures of Mordecai with her camera, then commented on his baggy clothes to get a silly pic of him, she also mentioned getting him some fitted clothes. Well, I had an idea that Tony was actually the tailor that made Mordecai his new fitted and symmetrical clothing. I presume this was back in 1920-1921 cuz that's the years Mordecai worked with lackadaisy, making him 21-22 at the time. Tony was 24-25 at that time, and already had a tailor shop going, he started it when he was only 18. Risky move starting his own business as a young man, but it paid off because he made a name for himself with his work. That's why he was recommended to Mordecai, and ever since then Mordecai goes to him for his tailor needs.
Also if you look at Tony's design, he's pretty symmetrical, which I think would give Mordecai a lil incisive to trust him with the clothing lmao

[TW HEAVY HEALTH STUFF ABOUT GALE'S MOM]
The sickness that is debilitating Gale's mom to have to live in a hospital for 24 hour care is cancer. The doctors don't predict she'll live much longer. She was diagnosed a year before Gale left the state, after years of feeling weak and unable to do most tasks. Gale wishes he could be by her side, but he can't go back. He's made mistakes.
The moment at the beginning of the guardians of the galaxy movie where Peter doesn't take his mom's hand then runs away, I imagine it went down like that for Gale. After a year of her being in the hospital, and the day after Gale makes his big mistake, he goes to see his mom one last time. She reaches out to him, asking him to take her hand. Time feels like it moves slow, Gale has so many thoughts going through his mind. The pain he feels looking at her is immense, the look in his eyes says it all…if he takes her hand, he'll never want to let her go. He runs the other way, running out of the hospital, then fleeing the state.
That inspired this doodle here
A big part of Gale is he's trying to run away from the past, run away from pain, running forever and ever. He does things for his wife to help her dreams, but also because he's convinced himself this is just how it's meant to be for him. He's a man stuck in the past and doesn't believe he deserves a second chance. He doesn't want that on to his family, which is why he ran out the hospital, and why he never told Riley he left until after he was already gone. Riley actually had to track him down himself. The letters Gale sent to him and his mother were not sent through mail but by more secret means, so his address were never on the letters. (<- MAY CHANGE THIS) And it's also why he's never told Matilda what he does for her, she doesn't know a thing he does. She is only aware of her deeds, and she doesn't want to tell him about them because she wants to protect him (even though he is aware), but she's unaware he's doing much worse things than she is doing.
Gale's a good man in his heart, at his core. But he doesn't think that. He believes his kindness is an act to hide what he really does, even though he truly is kind, he just thinks he's acting.
(MAY CHANGE THIS A TAD, BUT OVERALL GALE IS STILL A GOOD MAN AT HEART)
⸻⸻⸻
The Brooke siblings do love their parents and their parents aren't bad people per say, but they do have personal issues they've never worked on that do strain their relationship with their kids sometimes because the parents are not aware of their own problems and how they're acting it out. (But even if it's pointed out, they ignore it or flat out deny it.) Especially to Tony, being the eldest he's been dealt the brunt of it. If it's something not directed towards him, he makes it directed towards him so his little sisters don't deal with it. Their family is complicated, it's not all black and white on who's the bad guy and who's the good guy. It's just parents who have repressed issues from their past that they are too stubborn on getting help for. Which is another reason why Tony deals with it the most, because he's the oldest, they want him to lead an example.
Just a lil more deeper explanation on why Tony is so laid-back and unphased by things, as said in his character bio.
⸻⸻⸻
Tony was the first one Marie came out to, when she was little. She told him she wanted him to call her Marie, and he did so no questions asked.
Marie's softness back then was more of a timid soft than her current kind yet firm softness, so she was too quiet and scared to stand up for herself. But if she got bullied, Tony would scare them away. Matilda although youngest, would do the same, though her threats were more visceral than Tony's which made her scarier than Tony to some.
As Marie aged she learned to be more stern and unyielding, but she kept her gentle nature, believing she doesn't have to be mean to be strong.
⸻⸻⸻
Because of Tony's experience in medical practices and sewing/knitting, he's skilled with sharp objects, as mentioned in his bio. He's very quick with them, so quick that he could thwip a needle straight at your throat, puncturing an artery, without you even processing what just happened. He likes too keep needles in his pockets just in case, plus they're easier to hide than a gun tbh, not just cuz he's skilled with em.
⸻⸻⸻
Gale is very skilled with a large hammer because of his previous railroad job.
⸻⸻⸻
Thinking about Gale's backstory, I'm gonna change up his attitude when he disposes of someone.
I used to have him be like "I'll do anything for my wife I will get her anything she wants by any means necessary" and then kindly kill someone like yor does in spy x family "May I take your life?" But thinking more on it, he wouldn't really be like that tbh-
Again like I mentioned some messages above, he thinks he is a bad person so he thinks it's in his nature, even though it's not. Deep down he feels guilt, but masks it by believing he deserves it.
SO he would only dispose of someone if they are an actual threat to his wife, not just like- some guy who declined a deal she proposed. He'll just try to convice them to change their mind, sometimes using scare tactics if it calls for it, but not with the intent to kill. And even when he does kill someone he is vocally apologetic to them.
Mind you he's still a "I love my wife I will do anything for her" but now with less mindless following and more of a morale and motivations lmao
⸻⸻⸻
The situation to cause Gale to leave the north without a word was a train accident that he believes to be his fault since there was no indication given it to be otherwise at the time, which scared him so much on going to jail and how the situation would affect his family that he left in a panic. Little does he know there was ulterior motives behind the accident, and he was just a scapegoat since he was a railroad worker at the time. The work he did had been tampered with, but he just thinks he did the work wrong.
Gale is very new at this whole "running from the law" thing since he's never really done anything wrong, which means of course there are slip ups in his attempts. Like he hasn't changed his name, that's the first thing you do when you wanna hide is get a new name, but he didn't like the thought of abandoning a name given to him by his mother. The second is the letters he sends to his mom and cousin. He does his best to keep them a secret through his sending strategies, but sending a letter at all is not hiding yourself well. It just goes to show that ultimately he has no idea what he's doing at all despite how secretive he can come across.
Luckily for him the state ruled it an accident so he has no part in the statement, though investigations are still being looked in to since some investigators believe foul play. Even some not-so-savory people want it to be looked in to, since that train contained some important not-so-savory passengers that perished. At that might catch up to Gale, whether he likes it or not. Not to mention his wife who is working to become an investigator herself, who has a very keen eye on things and probes questions very diligently, he can't really keep secrets forever.
(MAY CHANGE THIS WHOLE THING)
⸻⸻⸻
As stated above, Dot will grow up to mainly be a guitarist and singer, but she does have an appreciation for drummers too because of her mom's partner being a drummer himself. Also she started playing guitar when she was 12 years old.
⸻⸻⸻
Since Riley design changed so much I'd like to update that he is no longer 6'10 tall he is now 7'2 tall, and I will be editing that to the height list at the top. Totally not a nod to him being a werewolf noooo
The bracelet Riley wears is a nod to his girlfriend's color scheme (his gf is a friend's oc)
btw if you notice that I gave Riley an earring as well. In the 1920s it was mainly just sailors that wore [an] earring[s] if it were a man. Sailors believed that if their bodies were recovered at sea the person finding them could take the earring as payment for a proper burial, or they were used as a status symbol for sailing around the globe or just being out at sea for a long time in general. The great lakes in north america are considered "inland seas" and Riley lives in Minnesota. So yea Riley used to be a sailor
He hadn't sailed for too long, just his teens and a bit of early adulthood too. He joined the fire department at age 22, but he still knows his way around a boat, been out sometimes for leisure rather than work now. In fact, he probably would have stayed being a full time sailor in the great lakes if he never experienced his parents perishing in a house fire, that's what gave him the drive. He's had a fascination for the fireman job growing up, but never really thought of it as something he'd do til that happened.

Ranking ridonculous race teams bc I’m bored (and biased)
The larpers (Leonard and Tammy)- crazy annoying, good choice to eliminate them first bc I don’t think I could’ve dealt with them for more than one episode
Father and son (Dwayne and junior)- idk why people like them sm bc I actually hated them sm. Junior made me physically cringe every time he was on screen and Dwayne is just…I hate him
Tennis rivals (Pete and Gerry)- idk they just didn’t get much screen time and we’re kinda annoying
Geniuses (Ellody and Mary)- again, just didn’t get enough screen time for me to actually form an opinion
Adversity twins (jay and Mickey)- idk how to feel abt them
Stepbrothers (Lorenzo and Chet)- annoying but had their moments
Mother and daughter (Kelly and Taylor)- Taylor wanted to be the it girl sooo bad it was kinda embarrasing, kelly was good tho
Vegans (Laurie and miles)- they were actually rlly funny but I hate vegans so…
Daters (Stephanie and Ryan)- they were actually rlly funny I can’t even lie
Rockers (rock and spud)- not much to say but i liked them
Best friends (Carrie and devin)- didn’t like them much at the beginning but I liked them more later on
Fashion bloggers (Tom and Jen)- deserved to stay longer, wish they didn’t leave so early bc I love them
Goths (ennui and crimson)- probs the healthiest relationship on the show, love them
Police cadets (MacArthur and sanders) love them, not much else to say but I didn’t rlly want them to win
Surfer dudes (Geoff and Brody)- loved that they brought geoff back and loved Brody as well, wish they had won
Reality tv pros (Owen and Noah)- again, happy that they decided to bring back the og cast, Noah was kind of ooc but wtv still loved him. Owen was also way better this season than he was in the first three seasons so that’s a plus
Sisters (Emma and kitty)- I loved them sm, Kitty was so much fun and I love Emma no matter how much hate she gets. Loved their dynamic with Owen and Noah, plus nemma was rlly cute
Ice Dancers (Josee and Jacques)- funniest team by far, I need josee in Roblox total drama so I can be her (that is the biggest compliment I can give a character)

Ridonculous Race
Taking a break from the Island Runs to to RR!! Also just as Pokemon, since there are SO many teams. Under the cut
Starting with
THE GOTHS: Crimson & Ennui are both Meowstics, since they're the most in-sync with each other and the most supportive toward each other in the entire series. Thus, a Meowstic Set makes sense since Psychic types can learn Dark type moves, and Meowstic has seen and survived the horrors.
Bonus, their Bunny Loki would be a Bunnelby
THE ICE DANCERS: Josee would be a Weavile, graceful but scheming, while her partner Jacques would be a Gallade; also graceful, while more well-meaning, loyal to a fault.
THE BESTIES: Devin would be a Slowbro because he is useful but man is this man dumb how tf did he never notice Carrie liking him like c'mon bro its OBVIOUS. Carrie is a Goomy as I think she means well, but she came off as a little clingy.
THE SURFERS: Geoff makes his return, and he is a Surfing Pikachu still, joined by his surfer friend Brody, who is an Alolan Raichu. Again, both of them are pretty chill and pick on vibes easily enough, but can get caught up in their own egos from time to time.
THE POLICE CADETS: Sanders is a Growlithe and MacArthur I made a Herdier as Sanders seems to be thoughtful and figure things out, While MacArthur is very loud and charges ahead without thinking things through all the time. By the time things wrap, they would both evolve into their final evolutions, to showcase their growth.
THE DATERS/THE HATERS: Stephanie and Ryan are pretty much constantly arguing and breaking up/making up, plus are self-proclaimed gym rats, so I made them Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee; constant rivals, working out, working well together but also easily becoming each others enemies, like they do in the show.
THE TENNIS PROS: I made Pete a Gumshoos and Gerry a Crabrawler. Honestly, I just picked pokemon that looked like old men for them, since that was their schtick.
THE SISTERS: These two took a while, since I wanted a related set of Pokemon. I eventually settled on making Emma a Gardevoir and Kitty a Kirlia, as both girls are reported to be smart but can get overwhelmed by emotion
FATHER AND SON: I couldn't figure out what to do with Dwayne for the longest time, until I settled on Delibird, because although it is cute, it could be considered a little goofy, dorky and older. It is why I made Jr a Shinx; younger pokemon, but a completely opposite type, to explain his disconnection with his father at times.
MOTHER AND DAUGHTER: Since they were clearly Kardashian parodies, I had to go for wealthy, fancy pokemon. They are also the least adept, so I went with Normal types for them. I made Kelly a Cinccino and Taylor a Delcatty.
THE FASHION BLOGGERS: I made them similar types or similar looking types of Pokemon, that had a lot to do with Fashion. Jen I made a Leavanny, which is noted to make its own clothes and the judgement of the middle evolution never left them. Tom I made a Lurantis, to differ him a bit but also keep him stylish.
THE GENIUSES: Obviously, both are psychic types. Ellody I made an Indeedee due to the tireless amount of work she puts into everything, and I made Mary a Farigiraf, as clearly the TD team design wanted her to be weird, but she's actually pretty cool; she's also more willing to adapt to other things, unlike her partner.
THE VEGANS: I made Laurie a Bayleef, as she seemed ready to throw down, especially after the food challenge and Bayleef is noted to kind of give of a vibe of aggression while being a plant pokemon. Miles I made a Lilligant, as once again another plant pokemon, whose performance can be quickly outstripped by others.
THE LARPers: Wow another one joke team. Anyways, to kind of match the vibes, I made Leonard a Medicham and Tammy and Escavalier. They were there so briefly, it was hard to think what others would fit.
THE ADVERSITY TWINS: I made Mickey a Feebas and Jay a Magikarp, as both ugly fish are portrayed as going through adversity and once they evolve, they do become better at surviving everything.
THE REALITY TV PROS: Owen and Noah have evolved from their stints on Total Drama to a Xatu and a Snorlax. See that post for their original pokemon choice.
THE ROCKERS: Spud is almost dumber than Devin, so I made him a Slowpoke, and Rock I made a Luxio; kind of in the middle of being useful but not too much.
Finally
THE STEP BROTHERS: Chet is a Pikachu-Colored Pichu and Lorenzo is a Spiky Eared Pichu. I specifically chose these Event pokemon because they were presented as a pair and are literally nearly identical, which the Step-Brothers, in personality, definitely are. They grow closer through the challenge and end up becoming friends, but enemies at first.
Bonus:
DON, THE HOST: Persian, as he's also part of the original 151 like Chris, but he's a much less successful host as we only meet/see him in RR, but he's got better stats. More than likely because he invested his time/money better
BLAINELY: I don't care for her enough to give her a pokemon. I guess she'd be a weezing or grimer, considering? Poison Type, anyways
#total drama ridonculous race#continuing this series#I added the hosts here#though tbh so many characters are barely in this#so im not doing super side characters#TDPI is up next#and then the new series#TDI and pokemon#Pokemon and TDI

the difficult thing w writing shazam kids is that it inherently doesn’t work really if you make adult / parental characters heavily present in the narrative so it has to be done peanuts snoopy style where they’re there but have no lasting impact HOWEVERR bc of this gap apparently that needed to be filled, after Geoff johns formulated the kids, mary is now relegated to older sister mother role where SHE has to be the one to take care of everyone even with parental figures already in her life. Rosa and Victor are props u see. AND THIS WAS DONE FOR NO REASON. mary had no traits like this or arcs or stories like it in pren52. she was not even the “rolling eyes girlboss in a trio (freddy and billy)”, she was literally just doing her. like what are we doing
waid writing mary…I thiiiink this might be his first time idk. and I know every crit I have on ppl writing mary post 2012 is just tainted by having to use post 2012 mary backstory (if there’s any that exists) but literally literally need her only personality now to NOT be. “I’m a girl I’m a mother I’m a teen mom” liiiikeeee my goddddd we get it….feminism lost….

A Decade Through Time: The Alderberg Legacy: Year 1611
I had the energy to post today , so here is the 1611 update!
From the Beginning I Currently
The year 1611 began tragically and shockingly for the Wolfeden family.
The mine that Myles Wolfeden worked collapsed , hitting him with the heavy boulders and rocks with such force that it killed him.Myles was almost 40 years old , married for 17 years , leaving his poor wife and daughters heartbroken.
It wasn't the only shocking news that followed his death , as Myles didn’t own the house , meaning that Catherine would have to leave with Beatrice and Hannah , soon.
It didn’t help the fact that Catherine , after 11 years , was pregnant and expected to give birth soon.
With no other option , the Wolfeden girls traveled back to Village and towards the Kellogg Farm , the home of Catherines mother Anne and her husband Mark.
Catherine haven’t seen her mother in almost 18 years , but she was not prepared to see a young man and woman with her mother , nor the little red haired girl clinging to her mothers apron.
Neither was Anne , seeing her oldest daughter pregnant with children of her own.
But it didn’t take long before Catherine was in her mother’s arms , crying like a small child while in Anne's embrace ,thanking the watcher for returning her baby.
The adults all sat down in the kitchen, where Catherine was informed about event¨s she missed. Her aunt Audrey’s death , leading to her cousin Geoff being raised by Anne and Mark , Sybil and her family’s tragic fate , Mary’s “socially scandalous marriage” and abandonment of the family , while Catherine and Beatrice told them about Myles’s death and the surprise pregnancy.
Anne wanted them to stay here , although Mark pointed out there would be a problem with space. The house wasn’t big , but they could work it out somehow.
Beatrice let them know that she would not be staying , that she would rather find work somewhere like her sister Jane did , to earn money for her family.
Catherine disliked the idea of her daughter leaving ,
But Anne had some contacts that she could poll to get Beatrice a good job with a good family.
It wasn't long after that Beatrice became a maid of the Friswell family. According to Anne it was the home of her departed niece Avigail , her sister Eleanor’s daughter.
Beatrice was a delightful addition to the dwindling Friswell family , specially with her excellent cooking.
The now 6 year old Theodora loved her food , always yearned for french toast or anything sweets , or else she would through a tantrum, which her father and brother indulged in. She was the little lady of the house , after all.
Although the Friswell were distant relatives of hers , Beatrice couldn’t help but feel a bit lonely in the house.
She made this decision to become a maid to help her family , yet she hadn't processed that her family was now scattered across Outland.
By the end of the first quarter , Catherine gave birth to her first and only son at 37 years old.
The lad seemed healthy and strong , which brightened Catherine's mood. The idea of naming him Myles after his father came to mind but then she remembered a name her husband always liked to name a boy if they had one - Silas.
Spring has sprung during the 2nd quarter of 1611 , yet the Alderberg family were still busy as ever.
Griffyn , alongside his older sons , Caleb and James , and youngest daughter Lucy planted new crops for the season
While Marion helped her stepmother taking care of baby Piers to give her a much needed break.
Sadly , it was during this quarter when the family had to say goodbye to Echo , Olive Alderberg’s kitten after being a cherished part of the family for nearly 20 years.
Echo’s death broke James heart , for he adored her sweet and quite personality. Caleb would mock and tease James , after all it was a very old cat he was crying over like a baby.
James didn't like that one bit , and it soon escalated into a argument which furthered escalated into a angry , crying fistfight.
With Caleb being 12 and James just 7 , it was not surprising that Caleb overpowered his younger brother , just in time for their father to see..!
Griffyn immediately told James to go back home and scolded Caleb relentlessly , lecturing him for fighting his younger brother and so close to water as well ,
That he was so disappointed in them both , so would their mother be too if she was alive to see them fight like animals!
Meanwhile , James got a earful from Helewis , although he tried to explain James started it , she didn’t care! Neither she or Griffyn tolerated fighting in their house and when Caleb returned with Griffyn she put both of the boys on timeout.
Griffyn had to listen to his wife complaining about the situation , that it was escalating and that she was worried how this would effect Piers growing up , but Griffyn tried to reasons with her, that this was just a phase and that they would soon grow out of it, hopefully at least.
The 3rd quarter ended by the blink of the watchers eye , and the 4th quarter started with baby Piers birthday.
He was no longer a babe in a swaddle and it was much harder to keep him in one place , but if you gave him a brush or a piece of charcoal he would sit still for hours drawing doddles and scribbles on any surface he could reach. Sometimes his parents and sibling can hear him talk to the drawings like actual sims.
Meanwhile at the Dagworth residents ,Tobias celebrated his 6th birthday with his dear brother Amos peaceful.
Tobias was a sweet , good and fun loving child , so different compared to his wicked and scheming mother Mary. She would often tell him that he was her favorite , that he needed to be a good boy for her and make her proud , to always put their family first and much more.
But Tobias didn’t mind , after all he loved his mother dearly, but how long will it be until the veil falls from his eyes and realize that Mary doesn’t really love him or Amos?
To end the year , we arrive at the Horthall Hall to witness Francis Horthall’s 13th birthday.
Until Jasper’s 21 birthday , Barbara still acted as head of the family and the businesses , so she hadn't been active enough to see how the Horthall brother’s relationship had soured over the years.
Francis was a good sims , but he was also a spiteful and prideful one, whom had grown jealous over his older , lazy brother. He didn’t think Jasper deserved to be heir of their family's estate nor business that hardworking sims like their grandfather , father and mother had build up.
Then again , nobody had a say in what order your born in.
Yup , Silas was the surprise baby of the 4th generation. When I was gonna kill Myles I was shocked to find Catherine pregnant and I felt bad so I let her have the baby. At least there is a chance for the Wolfeden name to carry on now , maybe.

Molly! Since I’ve had horrendous few weeks could I maybe, in exchange for some Harrison Ford….
Could we maybe see some Benophie spicy Sunday?? Authors choice of Au?
Please and thank you 🧡
ahh Harrison Ford in Witness I think. I would know it anywhere.
You know what AU we're doing
Sophie had known from the second she saw Benedict Bridgerton that he would be strong. He was a Ballet Dancer after all, so she spent most of the day carrying women who were about her height around a stage while leaping through the air. What she didn't expect: was how much she'd like it.
Sophie was the first to admit, she was independent by necessity if not by nature. She'd spent two days sleeping behind the sports sheds in the final weeks of sixth form after her step mother had found out about her apprenticeship, gripping her by the back of her sweater and tossing her out into the night, If you want to waste your life then you're not doing it with my money! And Sophie had bitterly screamed back It's his fucking money! And she would have still been sleeping there were it not for Kate, always far too astute jumping out from behind a dumpster like a demented Sherlock Holmes, dragging her home with her by the straps of her back pack. Even when she'd needed people most, Sophie had never asked for help.
Hadn't asked for any help while she'd been doing her apprenticeship, her skin turning slowly to steel in the testosterone fuelled environment of the tattoo parlour, while she'd developed her own style until she'd finally opened her own shop.
And somewhere along the way, she'd forgotten how to need people. She loved Kate and Edwina, and Mary, she even had a soft spot for Anthony in an odd way, and while she wanted to be loved, desperately, finally, just for her, just for who she was, she didn't know how to be loved. Maybe she had once, but not anymore.
Sex had become largely transactional, a quick release from someone she barely knew and a tight Can you go? When it was over.
But it quickly became apparent that it wouldn't be, couldn't be that way with Ben. And she wasn't even sure she would've wanted it to be.
He was soft and gentle, genuinely interested in her as a person, wanted to know everything about her the second they met and something deep in her chest tugged in sameness.
And from the first second he'd tugged her into his bedroom and pushed her back against the mattress the tight muscles of his body covering her, she'd known she couldn't hide from him, and she knew she didn't want to.
It had been such a long day, a difficult full back piece and a client that wouldn't sit still grunting and groaning dramatically the entire time, and she just wanted to get home and hang out with Geoff but the second she opened the door, she remembered-
"Hey, babe!" Benedict was sitting on her sofa, Geoff beside him, a warm smile on her face, and it should have felt nice, that she had someone to go home to, that he'd waited for god knows how long to see her, but she didn't know how to be that person.
"Oh. Hey." Her voice sounded flat, even though something desperate tugged at her chest
And she couldn't even watch how his face fell, turned away to avoid it.
"How was your day?" He tried again, and she couldn't
"Fine." One word, spoken into the fridge
"I... sorry do you want me to go?" He sounded confused, hurt, and she couldn't help but think Here it comes. The end.
"Yeah, maybe it would be best. I've had a long day, and I kind of just want to relax."
"Did it occur to you that I might be able to help you with that?"
She hadn't realised he'd moved closer, but his voice was in her ear his hands hovering over her, tension pulling tight between them , bubbling, her back pressed against his front.
Sophie shook her head, something pooling in the pit of her stomach, fighting the urge to arch against him, to feel his strong arms tight around her-
"Is that no it didn't occur to you or no I don't want this , Ben?"
"It didn't occur to me." It was gasped from her chest as she turned around, her hands threading through his air pulling his lips against hers in a searing kiss.
Ben's hands grabbed her waist roughly, tugging her against the hard planes of his chest, snaking his arms around her to hold her in place while their lips moved desperately together heat already licking at her entire body as he took a step forwards, trapping her completely against the fridge and his body.
She couldn't breathe, her shoulders heaving as his lips slipped down to her neck, his teeth tugging and nipping at her marking her skin like a tattoo, like all the other marks on her skin, and it wasn't permanent, but it felt like it was, in that moment it felt it.
Her legs slid around his waist, her hands tugging at his shirt, tearing at the fabric as she pushed it from his shoulders her fingers trailing down the lean muscle of his stomach, his abs twitching at her touch, something about it heady and powerful, his muscles tightly coiled, ready to leap into action as their eyes caught together.
They held there, for a long moment, something passing between them, questions asked and answers, a nod of her head, and everything seemed to melt away, her short left her, her jeans, his jeans, all disappearing until there was nothing between them, just his skin grinding against hers, hot and sweaty and overwhelming, in contrast to the cool metal behind her.
And now Sophie really couldn't breathe as they moved together, the fridge ratting Ben's forehead pressed against her shoulder one arm snaked around her, pinning her in place like a vice, the other bracing himself above her head the knuckles white, sweat beading on his forehead.
He was graceful even in this, even in the way he bucked and groaned and growled against her, his movements erratic his voice rough her name falling like a prayer from his lips, wrenched from his chest, tension pulled like a thread between them, heat clawing desperately at her chest, tearing at her skin, taking him in, letting him settle there in her chest, the irritation of the day slipping away, held in place by him now, tethered there.
And she couldn't hold on.
everything in her shattered with a sharp cry torn from her chest, ben's hips stuttering erratically for a desperate moment suspend in forever until he shuddered and they both went still, his arms safe and warm and strong around her.
Sophie had no idea how long they stayed like that pressed together, tension ebbing out of her until she was boneless against him, but there she was, her chin resting on the top of his head until his head shot up, claiming her lips, his tongue sliding over hers filthily.
"See? Wasn't that better than hanging out alone?"
Sophie nodded lightly, her eyes slipping to the background just to avoid him when she said it, "I guess I'm kind of used to... figuring things out for myself."
And his grin was so beautiful when he nudged her chin until their eyes met.
"Well, I'm here now."
And for the first time she let herself believe it.

SO MUCH MONEY: My £8 million headache by the Queen of Freddie Mercury's life
Geoff Sutton, Daily Mirror, 21 May 1992 (x)
THE woman who inherited the bulk of Freddie Mercury's £8 million fortune told yesterday how she was overwhelmed by her sudden vast wealth.
Mother-of-two Mary Austin - the tragic rock star's girlfriend before his all-gay days - fought back tears as she said: "There is just so much money.
"This has been such an incredible step - you can't envisage life will change so much."
Mary, who remained the closest of pals with the Queen singer, added: "I'm used to just earning a salary each month - and now have all this."
The Mirror told exclusively yesterday how Freddie - who died of AIDS in November - left Mary his £4 million London mansion, a huge chunk of cash and all his personal possessions.
Mary, 35, revealed that though the star left nothing to AIDS charities, he gave away millions BEFORE he died to ease the agony of other victims of the disease.
She said: "It's something he kept immensely private. But as far as his commitment to his fellow AIDS sufferers was concerned. I can promise you he didn't shirk anything."
Mary - still working as company secretary for two music firms founded by Freddie - said she will move into the mansion in Logan Place, Kensington, "as soon as possible."
She will take her children Richard - Freddie's three-year-old godson - and four-month-old Jamie with her.
The mum, who did not reveal the plans of the boys' father, interior designer Piers Cameron, said: "Freddie told me many years ago that I would be the owner of his house.
"But it has all been totally different to what I expected.
"I didn't think Freddie was going to die.
Upset
"I never considered this was going to happen - and I am still fighting off the disbelief and upset."
Mary said she would sell her nearby four-bedroom flat, bought for her by Freddie in 1980.
She spoke of her "ginormous emotional commitment" to the dead star.
But she added: "Freddie's house will not be a museum. It will be a living home with children running round as he would have wanted.
"But it will always be his house. It seems millions of people come to see it and they still want to believe it is Freddie's."
Mary said the star was an "enormous spender" who laid on "private planes everywhere" and gave money to many groups apart from AIDS victims.
She added: "It went to cat charities, the local police, all sorts.
"I'm not trying to make out it was anything special - it's just the way Freddie was.
"If people think £8 million was not a massive amount for someone like him to leave, then that may help to explain it."

Alternative Season 1 Episode 8: "I Kissed a Boy"
After the wedding, Mary Sue, Coral, Herb and Cassandra were talking. The Asian woman was very hurt by what her boyfriend did to her.
Mary Sue (Crying): He promised to take me on a tour around the world and he told me that I was the only one!!.
Herb (calming his daughter): Honey don't cry... Daniel is just a jerk who isn't worth it.
Coral: Cassie, how did it all happen?
Cassandra: My brother's "girlfriend" came and made a very weird toast to my wedding, and she took the opportunity to kiss Daniel...
Alexander (Approaching her sister): Cassie excuse me, but can I invite my friend Parker to spend the night?.
Cassandra: Sure Alex! Father and Mother won't be home.
Later
Alexander and Parker were drinking some beers, the man in the cap wanted to propose to Alexander that night.
Parker: And how was the wedding?
Alexander: The truth was very good, but I think there was a fight and everything got aggressive...
Parker (Drinking some more): Really, too bad I couldn't go... he was in Bluewater Village doing some shopping...
The night progressed and the boys were very drunk, Alexander decided to practice painting some more, while Parker watched him carefully.
Alexander (Painting a little): Ush... I'm so bored!
Turning around, Alex received a kiss from Parker, which surprised him.
Parker (Blushing): Oops, sorry handsome!.
Alexander: Hey, why did you do that?...
Parker: Alex, I don't want this to be misunderstood!
Alexander (Smiling): Parker, if you're going to kiss me, you should at least kiss me right hehe.
Parker kissed Alexander very hard, they both liked to kiss and have a great time with each other.
Parker (With a mischievous smile): Hey Alex, I came up with a great game, follow me!.
Alexander (Smiling): Really? Let's play Parker!
The two continued to kiss on Alexander's bed, Parker couldn't believe that he was finally kissing Alex.
Parker: Hey Alexander, have you had Woohoo?
Alexander (Blushing): No hehe...
Parker: Well this will be your first woohoo.
Between so many kisses and caresses, the two boys went Woohoo. Alexander felt something new in himself, he seemed to have a feeling towards Parker, will it be physical or chemical?
At dawn, Geoff Rutherford (in his Werewolf form), approached the mansion to further analyze the Goth family.
Geoff (Thinking while looking at the mansion): "So this is the Goth Mansion, huh? Not bad... That Alexander guy will be a big obstacle for me to get rid of him, but... I should get closer."
As the werewolf moved closer to the mansion, Geoff checked the mail, where he saw several letters from Ekaterina to Alexander.
Geoff (Howling with excitement): AAUUUUUU!!, I can't believe what I got!!, I'll go home as soon as possible!!

Cyrano Who?
Commissioned by the fantastic @likearumchocolatesouffle! Commission info is here!
~
“He doesn’t like me,” Rabiya muttered, bouncing her tennis ball off the wall.
“So?” James asked, scribbling in his notebook and glancing at her often. He was still having trouble describing her eyes.
“So… I feel like he should.” Rabiya threw the ball extra hard and dented her wall.
“Hey, easy!” James protested, reaching out to touch her arm. Rabiya stopped and turned to look at him sullenly. “Do you even like him back?”
She rolled her eyes. “Yes,” she replied forcefully, frowning. “I mean… I think I do. He’s nice, and handsome, and rich, and mom and dad like him...”
She sounded utterly unconvinced. That hurt, but James didn’t say that. If Rabiya wasn’t attracted to Geoff, who was quite a few things besides nice, handsome, and rich, then what could she see in James, who was depressing, ugly, and poor?
“Maybe you just have to get his attention,” James suggested, a little weakly. “Do something that will interest him.”
“Like what?” Rabiya snapped. “He’s at the same law office as me, he reads the same books as us, and that’s it.”
James frowned, wracking his brain. The best he had ever done to attract a lady’s favor had been… “Write poetry?”
Rabiya finally laughed and punched James’ arm. “That’s your answer to everything!”
“Sometimes it works!” James protested.
“True, true.” Rabiya stopped laughing, and stared into the middle distance, thinking. James knew better than to interrupt her thoughts. Instead he listed every brown gemstone he could think of, trying to match her eyes. Sweet Rabiya, with her beautiful brown eyes and brown skin and her favorite shimmering purple hijab…
Suddenly, her face lit up, and she whirled on her cushion to grin at James. The gleam in her eyes scattered his thoughts, and instead of longing, he felt the excited dread he usually felt when she had a grand scheme.
“You write the poems,” she told James.
He blinked at her. “What?”
“You write them! We’ll say they’re from me, but you’ll be the writer! You’re better anyway.”
“Rabi, you know I can’t write poems about guys!” James protested, feeling his face flush. She was the only one who knew he was bi—and also the only one who knew he was worse at talking to guys than he was with girls. “And I don’t know him.”
“Ah!” Rabiya raised her hand, holding up one finger as she grinned. “But you will know him. You’re going to the company picnic with me, aren’t you?”
“Well… yes...”
“And Geoff has said he will be there, with his sister!”
“Rabi, I think I know where you’re going with this...”
“Get on her good side. Use your Adorable Face. We both know girls are suckers for your Adorable Face. Talk to her, be friendly, ask about her relationship with her brother, and glean as much info as you can. Geoff told me she’s talkative; all you have to do is encourage her and ask questions!”
Put that way, it sounded relatively simple. James swallowed hard. The pure glee on Rabiya’s face made him long to write another poem about her. Finally, he sighed. Anything for her. “Alright, fine. When do you want me to start writing?”
~
The first poem was insipid and lacked depth, but Rabiya said it was perfect and slipped it to Geoff the day before the picnic.
The picnic itself was… well, stressful. A bunch of mature adults in mature clothing, teenagers in mature clothing that they were obviously uncomfortable in, and small children in comfortable clothes perfect for playing in the dirt and woodchips. The adults spoke—whined, really—about youngsters these days and the cost of champagne and politics. The teenagers talked about school, teen drama, and politics. The children just ran around on the playground shrieking and laughing.
James felt even more uncomfortable than the teenagers. He was only twenty-one, but that was too old to talk to seventeen year olds. It was also too young to be taken seriously by the older adults. And his one nice outfit was a little tight and he couldn’t help adjusting it constantly. He knew he should’ve begged his mother for a new shirt at the very least.
Rabiya was cool and effortless, chatting with lawyers and doctors and CEOs as if she’d been doing so for years, despite also only being twenty-one. It was probably because she was tall, and looked damn good in a dark purple suit and an even darker hijab. James felt severely outshined, which wasn’t unusual.
Geoff and his sister were standing at the other end of the veranda, also looking out of place. Geoff’s locs were pulled back in a ponytail, and his face was set in a pleasant smile, but from the way he fiddled with his cup, James guessed he was bored, or nervous. Seeing the glazed eyes, James chose bored.
Geoff’s sister was not dressed like the other women. Her hair was wrapped in a bright yellow-and-red scarf, and her dress was of a fluttery fabric in red, yellow, and green. She stood out, proud and bright, lounging on the veranda pillar with a champagne flute. No pastels or jewel-tones there. James found himself thinking immediately of how the warm colors gave a rosy tint to her dark skin, how the green on her dress suggested ever-present life in the fires of the universe, how—
They both saw him staring. He looked away quickly, blushing furiously. There was nowhere to run, though. He had a drink, nonalcoholic punch; he had already had a few snacks, he didn’t want anyone to glare at him for going back to the snack table; and Rabiya was so engrossed in a conversation about private versus federal prisons that she barely noticed him.
James felt very alone and forgotten.
Someone tapped his shoulder. He jumped and spun, and the hand gripped his bicep to keep him upright.
“Hey, hey, sorry about that,” Geoff said, smiling. He had a very nice smile, his hand firm and warm as James steadied. His voice was nice, too; soft and smoky and still with a Jamaican accent. “You look a little bored. I’m Geoff.” He held out his hand to shake, and James returned the favor.
“I’m James,” he answered, ignoring how his hair flopped in his eye. Again. He really should’ve gotten it cut a while ago. “Um. I came with Rabiya.”
He didn’t know if that was the right thing to say, but Geoff’s face lit up anyway. “Oh, Rabiya! Yes, I know her. She’s fantastic. If you came with her, you must be her friend the poet.”
James blushed. “Yeah,” he said softly.
“Do you want to hang out with me and my sister? We’re both tired of talking to the old people.” Geoff made a face, and James smiled. Well… maybe he could write a few poems easily enough.
Geoff’s sister hadn’t moved an inch, but when Geoff introduced James, she smiled and shook James’ hand. “Nice to meet you,” she said, her voice lighter than James had expected. “I’m Marie. Want some champagne?”
“No thank you,” James replied. “I don’t drink.”
“Good,” she said cheerfully, “’Cause this stuff tastes like pi—”
“Company,” Geoff interrupted. Marie stuck her tongue out at him.
It was actually quite nice, how quickly James relaxed with these two. They were funny, and kind, and Marie teased Geoff constantly. They had both read plenty of work by Maya Angelou, who was the only poet allowed in James’ parents’ home, and Marie had plenty of recommendations for Jamaican poets that James eagerly noted in his phone.
“My dad is pretty bad with poetry,” he admitted in a small voice, “And my mom can’t read English very well. I translate the English orders usually.”
Geoff and Marie nodded in understanding, and didn’t push the issue with the usual questions that made James feel small and sick.
He didn’t need to use his Adorable Face. The conversation was so natural that he picked up plenty of information without even meaning to. Then all three of them went on Facebook on their phones, and the siblings sent James friend requests. He accepted them so fast Marie laughed, but instead of feeling embarrassed, James just felt relieved. Hopefully they wouldn’t mind his daily haikus.
Rabiya glided over, and all three of them greeted her with pleasure. The catering had come and gone and everyone else was eating by the time they realized that several hours had passed. There was only one open spot big enough for the four of them, close to a table of loud children. James felt terrible upon seeing the spread of food, and only took one ham-and-cheese sandwich and a scoop of potato salad, while Rabiya, Geoff, and Marie loaded their plates. They all took their seats, and before any of them could take a bite, one small child leapt up from his seat, pointed right at James, and started making squealing noises like a pig.
The other small children laughed. James blushed so hard his face hurt, and he didn’t touch his food, even when the boy’s mother snarled at him about manners. Rabiya said softly, “James, really, it’s okay,” but he just shook his head and mushed his potato salad around. He hadn’t been hungry, anyway.
Around 8PM, the picnic broke up. James was glad. The small children had continued making pig-noises at him, no matter how many times parents or his friends told them off sharply. He felt sick and tired and the more he realized what bad company he was being, over something small like kids being kids, the more guilty he was.
When he and Rabiya climbed into Rabiya’s car, he was close to tears. Rabiya hugged him, and said quietly, fury in her voice, “Those fucking spoiled-ass brats. I’ll get you a smoothie. We can play Mario Kart for a bit before you go home.”
James nodded because if he refused, Rabiya would be sad, and he didn’t want her to be sad.
The smoothie helped, and he realized with another pang of guilt that most of his being upset was because he actually had been hungry. Rabiya’s parents were having another shouting match and didn’t notice them slip upstairs to her room.
James felt better after playing Mario Kart and telling Rabiya everything he’d learned. She teased him when he went on at length about how well-read Geoff was, but this kind of teasing he was used to. He could smile and pretend it didn’t hurt.
When he got home, his father was drunk and asleep, and his mother was painting again, some of James’ poems. They hugged, she gave him some soup, and he went to bed.
~
Poetry is hard.
James was used to filling up pages and pages trying to describe nature or emotions or Rabiya, but trying to write about a guy he barely knew was the hardest thing he’d ever done. Finally he decided to write about his voice. It had been a lovely voice. Very sexy. James emailed the poem to Rabiya, she printed it out and doodled some hearts and flowers, and then she slipped it to Geoff.
This was the point where James realized Rabiya actually wasn’t interested in Geoff.
He’d read her poetry. It was fantastic. Her love-poems were moving and her prose was spectacular. But… she could not draw up the emotion to write one of these poems for Geoff.
“I told my parents I was sending Geoff poems, because they were badgering me about marriage again,” she told James heavily over the phone. “They seemed pleased.”
“Are you pleased?” James asked.
She sighed. “James, let’s not go there. I’m tired of discussing it.”
“Okay. I’m sorry.”
The more James forced himself to consider Geoff and write up as many passionate poems as he could, the more baffled James was. How could Rabiya not be interested in Geoff? It was very confusing.
One night, James was on Facebook, scrolling through some of the poetry groups he’d joined, when someone messaged him. Thinking it was Rabiya, or maybe Carl back in California, James opened the message without reading the name.
It was Geoff.
Hey, James! I have a conundrum and I was hoping you could help me. I keep getting these poems in my mailbox at work and I think they’re from Rabiya.
James’ stomach dropped.
I like them a lot, she’s an awesome poet. But I was hoping, can you help me write back to her? I’m not good with poetry. I’ll pay you if you’d like!
James took a deep breath, swallowed hard, wondered why he felt so anxious and sad, and answered.
No payment necessary! If it’s Rabiya, I’ll definitely help you out.
I insist. Whats your Paypal?
When they had negotiated the terms (which was really just Geoff wearing him down and offering him ten dollars a poem), James wrote up a poem to Rabiya’s lovely writing skills and emailed it to Geoff. Geoff thanked him, paid him, and they talked about other things until midnight. James was sorry to stop talking to Geoff.
The next day, James was finishing up his latest editing gig when Rabiya called him.
“Someone put a poem in my box at work!” she started right off with, sounding panicked. Not excited, not gleeful: truly frightened. “I swear I thought no one saw me put one in Geoff’s!”
“Hey, hey, chill a bit,” James cut in, trying for a soothing tone. “I’m sure it’s fine. What did the poem say?”
Rabiya recited it, but her frightened tone sucked all the warmth out of it. James felt awful all of a sudden. She was scared—of reciprocation? Of it being so soon? Why? He didn’t know if he should ask.
“Do you want me to stop writing poems to him?” James asked, startled to realize he didn’t want to.
Harsh breathing on the other end of the phone, and a hard swallow, then Rabiya replied shakily, “No. No. This is fine. This is fine, this what we were aiming for. God, James, I’m sorry, I’m just… I don’t know why, but I started crying, and it wasn’t happy-cry. I was genuinely scared, and I don’t know why, and that scared me more. He shouldn’t know yet.”
“Who else would put poems in his box about how wonderful he is?” James replied. “You’re the only nice person there.”
“Melody is nicer,” Rabiya retorted, uncertainly.
“But does she have access to his box?”
“No. She’s also seventy and has grandkids.”
“So you’re the most likely person.”
“I… yes.”
“So it probably wasn’t hard. It’s okay, Rabiya, we can stop if you’re scared.”
A whimper, and then she said, her voice almost a wail, “I hate this! I hate trying to make people like me! Why can’t I live alone and be a boss-ass bitch lawyer?! I don’t want love!”
James blinked, and stared at the poem on his wall that his mom had painted and illustrated. Not one of his; one by his grandfather, who was actually a published and renowned author back in China. Almost a prayer, asking for strength and heart and freedom. James had needed it often in high school, and he suspected he needed it now, because he really didn’t understand—but he had to. For Rabiya.
“Then… you don’t need it,” he said slowly, trying to think past his own bewilderment. “If you don’t want love, and it scares you, then you don’t need it. You don’t even need to get married.”
“My parents,” she sniffled, and James saw the second biggest facet to the problem. “They want me married off, fast. But I don’t want to. We’re still kids, James. We have legal responsibilities, but we’re kids.”
James frowned worriedly. “Could you… marry someone you at least get along with? Not me,” he added hastily, startling himself. “I do want love. But you could, I dunno, sift through some people and agree to marry and you can keep it open. Your parents will be happy, and won’t be after you about it, but you’ll be happy too, because it’ll be more business than love.”
The sniffling was quieter. Then Rabiya asked softly, “Do you think that would work?”
“I don’t see why not.”
“...Do you have the next poem ready?”
~
Six months later, James realized he was well and truly fucked.
Rabiya had insisted on tapering off the poems a few weeks after her scare; James had agreed. Geoff had called him, and asked worriedly if Rabiya was alright, and if he should stop commissioning poems for her; James soothed him and said she was just going through a rough patch, and that probably all sympathy should be kept to a minimum, because Rabiya was just like that. Geoff had sighed, thanked him, hesitated, then asked James about his work. So they’d talked on the phone for a few hours, and James had found himself laughing, and being sad that they had to hang up.
Loving Rabiya didn’t feel like this. Loving Rabiya felt like passionate despair and pained yearning, knowing she was too good for him and if he confessed, she wouldn’t want to be his friend. Talking to Geoff felt… nice. Like something he could do every day.
Marie messaged James on Facebook to say, If you break my brother’s heart, I’ll break your nose.
What? It’s not like that! He doesn’t like me like that!
Hmph.
And she’d logged off.
But now, every few days, James and Geoff would meet up, and hang out. Sometimes Marie came along, and James was happy to see and speak with her, but he couldn’t help being a little grumpy, because Geoff was less candid around his sister. When it was just the two of them, they talked about all kinds of things. Movies, visiting family in other countries, books, video games, work. Geoff liked to knit; James sewed a lot of his own clothes. It was… enjoyable, to spend time with him.
He told himself he was researching for his next poem. He knew that wasn’t it.
Rabiya was getting jumpy. They would go out to movies or clubs or their favorite frozen yogurt shop, and one minute she’d be laughing and talking easily, and then the next she’d be tense and fidgeting. James couldn’t figure out what was wrong. It hurt, that she wasn’t comfortable around him anymore.
Finally, one day after playing Mario Kart, she asked him abruptly, “Do you like Geoff?”
“Yes,” James replied, puzzled. “He’s a great guy.”
“No, I mean do you like-like him?”
James opened his mouth to say no, then closed it. His face began to burn. Rabiya sighed—in relief.
“Oh, thank god,” she said, and patted his arm. “Then you won’t mind if I marry him and you come live with us.”
“What!” James squeaked, looking at her in horror. “What, that’s—what do you mean?!”
Rabiya snorted. “You told me once to think of marriage as a business transaction,” she reminded him. “So, I talked to Geoff about it.”
“When?!”
“Oh, a couple months ago.”
Months. James’ stomach dropped. Months. He’d been blissfully unaware, falling in love with Geoff and writing poems for them both, and they’d been talking about this for months.
Rabiya looked at him, and her face clearly showed sudden guilt. “Oh, James,” she said, and tried to hug him. But James didn’t want to be hugged, he didn’t want to be—comforted. He felt—betrayed, and he wasn’t sure why or by who. So he stood up and walked away, still staring at her, shocked.
“Months?” he said, quietly, and his voice was shaking.
Rabiya’s arms were still outstretched, and now she looked just as upset as he felt. “James—I’m sorry. I wanted to tell you—we both did. But it didn’t seem right. We both love you, okay? Just—you’re my best friend, and he loves you like you love him.”
“I don’t love him.” But it was weak and shaky and he still felt cold and alone.
Rabiya stood too, slowly, her arms falling to her sides. He didn’t want to look at her anymore. He didn’t want to see her guilt. He’d start wanting to forgive her, and that just wasn’t right. He looked down instead. He was hugging himself. He hadn’t realized. God, he just wanted to disappear. This was just too much. The two people he loved most, letting him believe this fiction of them both trying to woo the other, while they plan a marriage, and just like that, she drops it like a bombshell and breaks his heart.
“I’m sorry,” she repeated, and she sounded like she was trying not to cry.
James couldn’t think of a response. So he left.
~
Geoff called him three times that week, leaving voicemails that got more and more frantic, until the last one sounded like he was crying. Marie sent James a message on Facebook saying she was so sorry, she hadn’t known, she’d yelled at Geoff and he really was sorry. James didn’t reply to her.
He sat in his room, quietly, staring at the poem on his wall.
Mom left him dinner outside his room. He took showers when he knew his parents were asleep. He refused to talk to anyone until he had thought this through completely.
About ten days after Rabiya had told him that, James sent both her and Geoff an email asking them to meet him at the diner that all three of them used to go to. He got agreement from both of them within minutes. He tried to feel something about that, but he was already feeling a lot of things.
Fear. He was afraid. And hurt. But he’d thought about it. And he thought he knew what to say and do.
He got to the diner first, and sat in a booth at the back, precisely placed so neither of them would sit with him. They arrived together. He only knew because, since he was staring at his glass of water, he didn’t see until they both slid into the seat across from him.
He raised his head and looked at them both. Neither of them looked like they’d slept well. Rabiya’s eyes were red. Geoff’s hair wasn’t as neat as usual. They both looked scared, and hopeful.
James would’ve cried, but he’d already thought it all out, and he no longer had tears for this.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked, deciding to get the hardest question out of the way first.
“Because it… it didn’t feel right,” Geoff answered, haltingly. His voice was rough, like his throat hurt. “I figured it out after the first few poems you sent me to give to Rabiya. You have a really distinct style, and… and I didn’t know what to do. Marie has already smacked me for not just asking either of you. And then we started hanging out, and...” He blushed and looked down at the table.
“I wasn’t thinking about the love part,” Rabiya admitted softly. “Because it just… didn’t seem important. I thought, well, hey, you two loved each other, if we did this then you two would be happy and everything would be fine. I didn’t think about if it would hurt you. I’m sorry, James.” Her lip trembled and two tears escaped her, as she stared at him. “I’m sorry,” she repeated.
James nodded, and went back to staring at his water. That made sense. Rabiya didn’t know that he loved her, and he had been the one to suggest the business line of approach. She was one of those people who was so focused on the goal (get married and get her parents off her back) that she sometimes forgot about others on the way (like James). And Geoff… well, Geoff was hesitant. Didn’t like to make the first move until he’d thought about it hard, and then sometimes it was too late. He had told James, and demonstrated, that he was the opposite of impulsive.
And James was a fool for thinking they wouldn’t team up behind his back.
But they had considered him. They had decided that they would make room for him. It was just Rabiya’s poor word choice, bad timing, and James’ own fear that had made the moment a botch.
“You should have asked,” he told them both.
“Yes,” Geoff said simply. “We should have. And we are sorry.”
Rabiya swallowed hard, and asked softly, “Can we try again, James? Please?”
James had already known the answer to that. He reached out both hands, and Geoff and Rabiya grabbed one each, tightly. “Yeah,” he said, raising his head and managing a smile. “Yeah. I’d like that.”
~
The wedding was great, and James just smiled softly as Geoff and Rabiya led the dancing. It had been about a year since their talk in the diner, and he sometimes worried that he would, at any moment, be thrown to the wayside.
But that hadn’t happened. They’d all three moved into an apartment together, and James had found out that Geoff was an excellent kisser. Rabiya had made obnoxious kissy noises at them until James threw a crumpled piece of newspaper at her. They might all have been drunk.
Ostensibly, the master bedroom was for the engaged couple, and James had the smaller one. In reality, Rabiya had shoved them both towards the bigger room and told them to “work out which side of the bed is whose”. James still felt a little odd, sharing a room, but cuddling in bed was great, and sometimes Rabiya would come in and drape herself over them and eat rice crackers while they all three watched She-Ra or The Last Airbender or even just some crime drama that Rabiya and Geoff would thoroughly eviscerate from a legal standpoint. James loved those days.
Geoff was very much his mother’s child, in that he insisted that James stop skipping meals out of shame. Since the meals were uniformly delicious, James found it easier to accept this new rule. When cuddling, Geoff would sometimes end up with his face smooshed against James’ soft tummy, and James could never help feeling such a strong surge of love that he almost cried. After years and years of people taunting him, there was someone who appreciated him—all of him.
So James watched the wedding from the sidelines, and didn’t even care when people gave him their fake condolences that the woman he loved was getting swept away by someone else—by a better man, though they didn’t say that.
He just smiled and thanked them and drank his soda contentedly.
After the wedding, when they made it back to their apartment and divested themselves of their wedding finery, Rabiya called, “Dibs on first shower!”, grabbed a towel, and darted into the bathroom. James shrugged and Geoff sighed morosely. There was glitter on his face.
“You knew what you signed up for,” James teased gently, putting his arm around Geoff’s waist. Geoff grinned and wound his arms around James.
“Yes, I certainly did. May I have this dance?”
Swaying to Geoff’s lazy humming, they danced slowly in the living room. Their wedding dance. James wondered if anyone had ever been as happy as him in this moment.

Is Edwin good with animals and what's his relationship with his parents? random questions but whatever-
Yes and no. Rather average, really. Good enough to be able to handle one of Jon's crows that seems to like Edwin more than the others- if only because he always has a writing utensil to steal. Needless to say he's had to teach Mary the crow to only steal pens and mechanical pencils. Besides her, he likes cats and owls generally. Dogs, snakes, spiders, and bugs terrify him.
As for his parents, it's complicated to say the least. Otto, his biological father, was murdered via poisoning when Edwin was only 11, though even in that short time he'd grown closest to him. Otto had taught Edwin his native German alongside English, and initially got him hooked on reading (with somw help from Otto's librarian and bookbinder brother Ferdinand), literature, language, theater, world culture, and mythology/folklore. He encouraged Edwin's curiosity, never hesitating to answer his questions truthfully (much to his mother's dismay at times), telling him he's not sure and looking for the answer with him when he didn't have one. He also, in part, laid the foundations for Edwin's desire for adventure and travel despite his anxious temperament. As much as he loved Otto, it wounded Edwin severely to later uncover the secret that his father wasn't simply an eccentric banker, but also a mobster that had fled from Germany- though not far nor fast enough to avoid an early death.
Edwin's mother Sharon, however, always had a strained relationship with her son. She was very strict and stern with her four children, her youngest, Edwin, seemingly most of all. If only because of his hyperinquisitive nature, near constant daydreaming, and clumsiness, none of which were proper or would get him anywhere in life. Even when he did all his chores and helped as much he could and consistently excelled in school, that was never enough, since his older sisters and brother always did better. They didn't lie either- at least not in a way that got them caught and severely reprimanded, to the degree that they stutter and their anxiety flares up whenever they try in the present day, requiring years of devising clever psychological workarounds. None of them seemed as torn up when Sharon admitted to them their father was murdered rather than just suffering a heart attack as they'd been told, granted she seemed to imply it was Edwin's fault anyhow. They also weren't forced to still like the opposite sex when they finally got up the courage to come out to her at 20, telling them it's alright for them to like men so long as they marry a woman, ultimately guilted into marrying one they had been friends with for years and convinced themself they could handle faking romantic love for, until the stress of moving to a new city and getting a dead end journaling job and all the physical and social obligations of marriage became too much and they divorced only seven months after the ceremony and quit their job suddenly and wound up spending a few nights in the hospital all because of some desperate attempt to receive at least a scrap of the motherly approval he'd been denied all 23 years of his life-... Certainly strained.
(He doesn't care for his stepfather, Geoff, either, whom Sharon married a mere year after Otto's death. His relationships with his siblings aren't much better, never even meeting his half-sister from Otto's previous relationship in Berlin.)

PART ONE
5 years later...
Geoff stirs his tea, staring absently at the cottage calendar on the wall. He sighs tiredly.
Tuna leaps off of her chair with a loud MROW! and darts away. Geoff is too exhausted to pay her any mind. He rubs at his forehead and takes a sip from his teacup. The tea, as usual, is tasteless.
“I know,” comes a croon that sounds like a little kid, and Geoff's head snaps in the direction Tuna had just gone. It sounds as though someone is speaking nearby, perhaps blocked by the end of the dining table. “That was weird, wasn’t it?”
That’s it; Geoff has officially gone crazy. He’s gone crazy. He’s hearing Awsten baby-talking to the cat, and it sounds real. It sounds so, so real that his throat feels tight and he begins to cry.
The teacup is still in one of his hand, so he covers his eyes with the other and lets himself sob. “Please,” he murmurs aloud, not sure what he wants. A reprieve from this pain, perhaps.
First his mother, then Clara Rose and his family, and now this. All of them are impossible to “get over.” And so Geoff has given up. He’s quit his job, stopped caring for his garden, stopped leaving his home. The town has collapsed in nearly every way. Carson’s and the school still stand, although Mr. Carson is long gone. Geoff can’t even count all of the bereaved parents who have abandoned Lakeview or all of the bereaved children who have been forced to live with surviving relatives in other cities.
“Mr. W?”
“No,” Geoff chokes. It sounds just like him, and if he looks and there is nothing, he would not be able to bear it. And if there is something, he should probably call 911. He doesn’t allow himself to look.
“Are you okay?”
“No, no,” he mutters again. Then, sharper, “Go away.”
There’s a long silence. Geoff almost thinks that the hallucination has stopped, but then the voice is back. Awsten’s voice, heartbroken, wonders, “Why?”
And Geoff can’t resist any longer - he looks.
Standing there in the kitchen, wearing exactly the clothes he’d had on when he disappeared in exactly the same spot, is Awsten.
For several seconds, Geoff gapes at him. He’s not capable of anything else. Geoff stares and stares at him.
This must be a hallucination. It must be. But Tuna is in his arms. And unless cats can suddenly float -
“Did I pass out or something?”
“Pardon?” Geoff whispers, not blinking.
“I don’t know. I felt sick as fuck and then the guy disappeared outside, and then I was like, collapsing...”
Shakily, Geoff gets to his feet.
“And you were here, and I think I fell asleep or passed out or something. But now I’m standing up again, and you’re over there, and you’re...”
Geoff’s eyes are impossibly wide as he makes his way over. Awsten drops Tuna, who rubs against his ankle, meowing loudly.
“What?” Awsten asks, backing up a step as Geoff approaches him. “Wh-what are you doing?”
Geoff stops his hands just before they make contact with Awsten’s cheeks.
Awsten makes a face and leans away. “What the hell?”
“You haven’t aged a day,” Geoff whispers.
Awsten’s staring at him, eyes traveling over Geoff’s skin. “You have,” he says, but it’s not insulting. He’s confused. “What happened?”
“I grieved you,” Geoff says, almost accusingly. His eyes fill with tears again. “Awsten, if this is all in my head, I am going to be very - very upset,” he whispers.
“In your head?” Awsten repeats. “Grieved me? What are you talking about? And why do you look so different?”
“Yes, in my head,” Geoff nods, and he starts back toward the table “Which it must be. I should call Dr. Vincent before things get any stranger than they already have-”
“Dad!”
Geoff freezes. Then he slowly turns around.
Awsten looks genuinely distressed. “What the fuck is going on right now?”
“You didn’t pass out,” Geoff whispered. “You passed away. You died five years ago, right in this very spot.”
“I died?” Awsten echoes. Then he looks down at his hands and wiggles his fingers. “I don’t feel dead.”
“Well you are, and so I must call the doctor, because I am having a full conversation with my dead child. I cannot continue to indulge this delusion-”
There’s a flash of color from outside, and the man Geoff recognizes as the one who disappeared five years previously is wandering past the window.
Geoff looks back at Awsten, eyes now even wider.
There’s a long stretch of silence as the two stare at each other, Awsten in confusion and Geoff in disbelief. Suddenly, Geoff turns on his heel and walks away.
“Mr. W!” Awsten calls after him, but Geoff is making a bee-line for the television.
“If this is a joke, it’s not fucking funny!”
Geoff ignores Awsten’s words and flips on the news, which is showing an empty anchor desk. He turns back to Awsten, who still looks entirely baffled but now also afraid.
“I’m not dead,” Awsten pleads, and Geoff can see that his eyes are filled with tears. “I’m not. I feel fine. Please... Dad, it’s not funny; you’re really scaring me.”
Geoff breaks into a jog and stops just in front of him. His hands settle on Awsten’s cheeks for real, and he’s solid, he’s warm. For a long moment, Geoff stares at his face. Awsten’s crying just the tiniest bit, and Geoff is holding his breath.
“Awsten,” Geoff breathes, “is it really you?”
Awsten nods again. “Yes. It’s really me.”
Hurriedly, Geoff draws him into the tightest hug he’s given in his life. He doesn’t even attempt to suppress his sobs as he holds onto his child. “Don’t you ever do that to me again!”
“Do what?” Awsten asks in alarm.
“Disappear!” Geoff practically shouts, squeezing Awsten harder.
Awsten doesn’t respond.
“I grieved you,” Geoff repeats again, the words coming out almost unintelligibly around the crying, “every day for years. Five years! Every day! Awsten... Oh, Awsten, my Awsten... my son... I love you so.”
Awsten is crying more, and suddenly he’s holding on to Geoff like his life depends on it even though he has no idea what’s going on.
Several minutes later, when Geoff finally lets go, he sets a hand on Awsten’s cheek yet again. “This must all be very confusing for you,” Geoff realizes, and Awsten nods fervently. “You - you must believe that I am the crazy one...”
“You’re acting like it,” Awsten responds bluntly. He wipes at his eyes with the sleeve of his sweatshirt.
“Yes, yes, I... well, I suppose I am.” He wraps Awsten under his arm - he can’t seem to let go of him, and he swears that he never will again - and ushers him toward the door. “Come. Come. Let’s see if Mary and Otto have returned. Oh, David will be overjoyed. The whole town - the whole world - will be abuzz.”
Geoff kisses the side of Awsten’s head. “Come,” he whispers to the teenager, leading him down the steps and toward the street, where others have emerged as well. For the first time in what feels like forever, Geoff smiles. “Come.”

ORIGINAL CHARACTER, Drabble related (Welcome; Mary; etc...)
Name: Geoffrey Firmin Mallores
Nickname: ‘Geoff’, or ‘Jeff’ (only by Mary, or Kenna)
Age: 9 (Season 1) / 11 (Season 2) / 13 (Season 3) / 17 (TFS)
Gender: Male
Pronouns: He/him
Sexuality: Bisexual
Height: 1m78/ 5′10
Weight: 70kg
Hair color: Russet
Hair length: Just above his eyebrows
Typical hairstyle: Untidy
Eye color: Blue sky
Noticeable Features: A scar on his left cheek. No facial hair except a little mustache. Uses make up to hide his bags under his eyes (thinks it’s fashion)
Typical Clothing: Blue denim vest, as well as denim pants, a yellow t-shirt, a black choker necklace, used ‘Le coq sportif’ shoes. Sometimes he changes of style and wears instead a black binder, and leggings.
Preferred Weapon: Revolver, knife
Backstory: He used to live in LA, his family was quite better-off, despite Jordan (his father) being an important demonstrator for LGBT rights back in the 2000's (He and Ella, Geoff’s mother, were bisexual). But as the apocalypse happened, they had to leave LA and to leave to East. By turns of events they found Paul, a policeman who used to be best friends with Jordan. But as Paul is an extremist who wanted to follow the orders of his superiors (even if the said superiors don't have ethics anymore) Jordan on the other side wanted to protect the most people. Geoffrey became a good friend of Lyla, Paul's daughter, and with Mary, a mysterious girl infected but somehow not turning...In the end, because of an attack of the Delta, his parents died, Paul died too, and Lyla and Mary disappeared. After long months of wandering, he finds Ericson Boarding School.
Facts about Geoffrey:
1. As Geoffrey has a perfect ear, Jordan encouraged him to play music, his favorite instrument is guitar (electric, spanish or acoustic, he doesn't mind)
2. Geoffrey's favorite song is 'J't’emmene au vent’ by Louis Attaque.
3. Geoffrey is an existentialist, only acts matter for him, and so he hates killing, child having guns (like AJ), and he wants to save everyone, including ‘gray’ persons.
4. Geoffrey is a total disaster about love, or about emotions in general. His emotions can be easily read (”like a book”, and he’s a truly bad liar, that’s why Lyla did the bluff stuff to save both their lives multiple times.
5. Geoffrey masters 3 languages : French, Spanish and English (he used his knowledge to have ‘secret talk’ with Lyla, so nobody else could understand them)
6. Geoffrey owns a car, a green Citroen 2CV Charleston, which he nicknamed ‘Eloïse’, that Mary found once in an abandoned garage. She modified the car so it could run on diesel (normal fuel has degraded since years), and apart from some little coughs and sputters, the car runs fine for its age.
