For the drabble game: "Can I kiss you?" with Taehyung, please!! Fluff, Android AU, if that's ok!! Thank you!!
even if you aren’t human
pairing: human! taehyung x android! reader
genre: fluff || non-idol au || android au || friends to lovers???
summary: if taehyung would have known, he would have asked you to be his years ago
tags/ warnings: just fluff, human feelings and two cuties
notes: thinking of maybe opening drabble requests again because the ones in my inbox are uninspiring or so vague i’m scared i’m gonna write the prompt wrong just to keep me going for the next month until i move and actually start writing for real again… anyways feedback is always encouraged!!
notes 2: this is a story so i don’t wanna hear any ethical questions about android-human relationships. pretend it’s normal, they’re kinda just, idk advanced humans in this anyways, kinda… just don’t think about it
drabble masterlist || my main masterlist
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆.
“Can I kiss you?” You blink over at Taehyung.
He coughs, hand cradling his chest as his spoon drops into his bowl. Your eyes glazing over the spilt soup that splashes onto the table.
He’d have thought that by now, he’d be used to you and you’re constant stream of questions. You’d been living with him for long enough for him to understand how you worked. An endless stream of patience especially stored just for you in his heart, otherwise he’s pretty sure he would have lost his mind by now.
You were awfully curious about humans, and a lot more intelligent that you gave yourself credit for. Complex coding constantly being written as you experience life, emotions typed in numbers and human thoughts slowly whittling their way into your android mind.
As much as you like to tell him that you are yet to understand the full extent of human emotion, he’s pretty sure you feel insecure about not being a living, breathing, person like he was. Or every other mortal being that resided on planet earth.
He never understood your obsession with wanting to be human. Not when you essentially functioned as one, maybe an odd life form, but nearly human nonetheless. Still unused to certain social norms or the deemed ‘right way to act’.
“Pardon?” He splutters, “What did you say?”
“I wanted to know if I could kiss you” you say, eyebrows furrowing in the slightest.
Taehyung’s lips tug into an unsure smile, “You shouldn’t joke about those things”
“I’m not joking” you shake your head, “See I’m not smiling” you point to your lips.
Taehyung sighs.
“If you’re uncomfortable then that’s okay. You’ve told me that I should ask before acting when it comes to things like these, per human etiquette, so I was just asking”
Taehyung hums, “You know what a kiss usually means right?” He decides to ask, he’s sure you’ve scoured the internet by now, or chewed Namjoon’s ear off about the more intimate sides of human relationships. The things you never seem to want to ask Taehyung, and no matter how much he prods, you never want to tell him why.
He wouldn’t exactly say it’s jealousy.. you were allowed to interact with other people after all. He thinks it’s a perfect way for you to observe humans, a pass time he knows you enjoy. Though he will admit, that it makes him feel slightly useless when you go to his friend, instead of him for your endless stream of questions.
You blink, and Taehyung worries that if you operating sytem were to work any harder, he’d be able to hear your fan start whirring beneath your skin.
“Love?” You say, and Taehyung nods.
“That’s why I was taken aback” he tell you honestly, because that’s what you need. You’d expressed your frustration in not being able to pick up on certain things, and he’d promised you from that moment he would be completely transparent. “Just wasn’t expecting that from you”
Your eyes flit around the room in thought before they settle back on Taehyung, “But what if I were to love you?”
Taehyung pushes his bowl away from him, “Well, do you?”
Silence settles over the room, and Taehyung wants to ask you what you’re thinking.
A sound similar to a sigh slips past your open lips, “I think so, yes” you nod, “Is that okay?”
Taehyung’s head tips back in a laugh, “You think so?”
You hum, pulling your chair closer to the table, fingers fidgeting with with the table cloth.
And he wonders if this is your first true experience being nervous.
“Yes, I think so”
“And what does love feel like to you?” he urges, not missing the way your shoulders sag. But he was curious, any way to understand you better would always be a win for him.
“I feel happy” you start, “When the two of us are together, I feel good. My synthetic heart beats too fast, and I think I just like you a lot that it must be love. I don’t really understand it, but it’s nice”
Taehyung nods, lips curling up into a smile, “I like you a lot too”
Your eyes widen a fraction, and if Taehyung didn’t know you then he wouldn’t know you weren’t human.
“No, you don’t understand. I don’t like you, I love you” you tell him.
“Means the same thing” he huffs out a laugh.
“Really? But i’m not—“ you start but Taehyung raises a hand to stop you.
“No stupid android spiel. I know you, for what you are, and I like you. Even if you aren’t like me. Even if you aren’t human”
“Why did you never say anything?” you ask, “It’s a strange feeling when you like someone and have to hold it in without saying anything” you tell him, trying your hardest not to smile. Happiness catching up to you.
“I weren’t sure how you felt” he waves you off, “Plus I didn’t invite you to live with me just so i could make you uncomfortable a year later by confessing my feelings for you. Especially because you’ve consistently told me you haven’t grasped the concept of human emotion yet”
You part your lips, fingers skimming over your chest right above where your heart would be, “You’re a very considerate person, Taehyung”
Taehyung thinks his cheeks must have flushed the lightest shade of pink, “Only for you”
You shake your head, “No. You’re very considerate of all your other friends too”
And if he wasn’t absolutely enamored by you, Tae might have wanted to face plant the table at your oblivious response.
“I just tried to flirt with you” he runs a hand over his face, refusing to meet your eyes.
You sit up straighter at that, “Really? How fascinating” you nod, “I’ll have to research more so I can flirt too” you push yourself to stand, tucking your chair back under the table. Dinner long forgotten as you slink into the living room.
“You’re not allowed to flirt with anyone but me, okay?” he calls after you.
“Okay” you call back over your shoulder, “And I would like to postpone my kiss until later after i’m done”
He hums. Leaving you as he washes up, planning out exactly how he’ll explain he doesn’t want to be only friends anymore. Because he knows asking you out isn’t going to be as straight forward as he thinks it’ll be.
Because as much as you wanted to be human, he doesn’t think he’d want you any other way.

hey sorry i totally get if you don’t want to continue with the sorry for hs posting tagging thing and not to sound like a kid on the playground but those guys be dogging on you for “hurting” the people who tag hs posts like that when the whole point of the post was that when people do it it makes you feel ashamed when you shouldn’t have to. and a bunch of others i see complain about it rubbing them the wrong or putting them diwn too. so not to jump to conclusions but it seems like maybe the taggers are hurting the feelings of the op more than anyone who is being “forced to see homestuck” or “having homestuck inflicted on them.” which is just what you said sorry but it is routinely appalling the behavior of tumblr users
yeah... i think people are missing the point that when they do something rude on someone else's post unprompted, the poster is not going to like it. apologizing for sharing a post is rude even if there were no harmful intentions idk how else to say it. it just comes off as "it's just a joke calm down no need to get upset over a joke." idk if people just aren't realizing that, despite their intentions, their words can have unintended consequences, and you have to be conscious of other people's feelings when You Are On Their Post. if someone wants to joke around on their own blog or with their friends who know them, that's fine idc. but walking up to a random person and saying something that You think is a joke but They find rude is, at the end of the day, not a good idea. i'm not going to keep arguing with anyone over this bc i don't want to get too heated over internet etiquette but i think the main takeaway is that:
if you are making a comment/tag/reply/etc on someone else's post, it's up to you to be respectful to that person regardless of your own insecurities/humor/archival systems/etc. if you can't do that, you shouldn't interact with the post, and if you do interact anyways, you should not be surprised if the poster blocks you

Im having a dilemma and it sucks ……
Ok so last Saturday I went to the ER for a wound infection and at the same time I was starting to experience pain in my lower left side like belly area . And I thought it was related to either the antibiotics or the infection bc I got sick as well and had a high temperature.
Wound is healed and I haven’t gotten sick since but the pain has not gone away , basically peaked last week, and calmed down but now I’m experiencing it in waves where it’s like VERY sharp and dependent on how I move. So I’ve been assuming kidney stone or ovarian cyst bc I have a history of both.
Anyways the dilemma is that I know I need to go back to the ER but we do not have a car , the bus route is a fuckin JOURNEY, and we can’t afford an Uber. My Medicaid covers ambulance rides but like I do not think it warrants an ambulance right now??? Idk what the etiquette is with that, I’m not gonna use resources that are desperately needed by someone else idk.
Also, I haven’t been sick or anything since all this. I’ve just had the pain that won’t fully go away.
Also all this compounded with the fact that im going to a Dorian Electra show on Saturday and I really don’t wanna be sick for that oh my god I’ve been waiting fucking forever :(
Sorry just venting !!! Not really like trying to find advice about medical shit on the internet I guess but if you have it thank you. I’ve just had a horrible 2 weeks.

Hi Minnie, hope you’re well. Saw your reblog about not reposting artwork, and it made me wonder what your thoughts are on something sort of similar.
Most people on here would probably agree that stealing someone’s fan art or fanfic is wrong. But there’s also something I’ve noticed in a smallish, maybe medium-sized fandom I’m in that has gotten some new fans recently. Maybe it happens in other fandoms too. Using Chris for an example—let’s say someone found a rare old interview with him in a print magazine that didn’t seem to be known in the fandom, so they scanned it and posted it. Most people would just reblog or like it. But someone else might nab it and post it on their own Tumblr blog or Twitter or Discord, etc.
Now, I think that’s not so bad if they at least credit and link to the original post. But most people don’t bother to do that, and are happy to accept the credit as if they were the one who found it. This happens fairly often in my fandom now (and it seems to be mostly the newbies doing it) and I’m not sure how to address it as I seem to be the only one who notices or cares.
It’s not quite as bad as stealing someone’s art, because they’re literally just sharing an interview or pic or whatever which they technically don’t own in any way. But I still feel like it’s slightly shady to do if it’s something rare, or maybe if there’s already a very similar “legacy” post that’s well-known in the fandom. What are your thoughts on it? Should we basically accept that as soon as we post something it’s free game for the internet, or try to have a bit more, IDK, Tumblr decorum, lol.
I know some of it’s down to excitement and eagerness to share things, and of course people don’t necessarily see every post even in a small fandom so they might not know that someone already posted something. But the frequency of it happening makes me think maybe they just want all the notes to themselves.
Have a great day ❤️
Hi darling! I'm doing well, thank you, I hope you are too! Thank you so much for your message, this is actually such an interesting question, and so eloquently put, too.
I definitely recognise what you're describing, it happens occasionally in the Stucky / Sebastian / Chris fandoms as well, and I basically feel the exact same way about it that you do. I agree it's not quite on the same level as stealing/reposting fanart or fanfic, and it also ranks below using gifs without credit and passing them off as your own, because all of these kinds of works take a great deal of effort and time to create, and are overall very personal in nature.
That isn't quite the case for photos or interviews that people dig up and post, but even that takes time and effort, and so in my opinion, the decent thing to do if you want to share that sort of content to another platform would be to ask permission first, or at the very least to give credit to whomever posted it first (although it is of course hard to determine to whom the credit is really owed in this case, because you could argue the credit belongs to the original photographers/authors only, but of course that is often arguable too when they've been released publicly etc., but hey, how hard is it really to be like "I found this here, thank you to this person to bringing it to my attention!" or something to that effect?)
So yeah, basically I think there can't be any hard rules for this sort of reposting, but I do absolutely think that ideally, everyone should always try to be decent about it, and not just repost stuff they've just seen someone else post and act like it was their own discovery, especially if it's something rare. There are definitely folks around who do this often and shamelessly, ostensibly for the notes and clout. It's not a crime, but it is kinda lame imo, and just bad fandom etiquette.
I hope that answers your question and that you're having a wonderful day yourself! ❤️

You gotta teach me how to use tone tags correctly 😭😭 I feel like I don’t know what half of them mean + use them incorrectly
There r so many and they can be so confusing…………. I went around using /gen as /gentle for like a year before I realised🥲🥲(it’s actually /genuine)
but tone tags tone tags forever I love tone tags!!!!! I wouldn’t be able to survive on the internet without tone tags. Here are the ones I use the most often:
Warning this ended up longer than I expected…….
/j: joking -
use when you’re making a joke, or saying something jokingly/playfully that could be misunderstood as serious
/hj: half joking -
use when you’re. Well. Half joking about something
/srs: serious -
Use when you’re serious about something/not joking
/lh: light hearted -
I’m honestly not sure how I should explain this…….. you use it when you’re. Being. Light hearted??? Idk I’m sorry it’s just muscle memory for me at this point
/ref: reference -
Use when you’re referencing something. A movie, game, meme, book - anything that you’re referencing
/lyr: song lyric -
Use when you’re quoting a song lyric
/q: quote-
use when you’re quoting something- book, movie, video game, meme, whatever
/nf: not forced -
Use when you suggest something, or ask something, or anything like that but want to clarify that you’re not forcing the person to do it
/nm: not mad -
FUN FACT I JUST GOOGLED THIS ONE TO MAKE SURE I GOT IT RIGHT AND I HADN’T. I USED TO THIBK THAT IT MEANT /NOT MEAN. WELL
but use when you’re talking to someone and want to clarify that you’re not mad with them, or making a joking comment that appears harsh/mean and could come across as you being mad
/p: platonic -
Use when you want to say that whatever statement you’re saying is in a platonic way, ex saying “I love you” to friends
/r: romantic -
Use when you want to say that whatever statement you’re saying is in a romantic way
I HOPE THAT MAKES SENSE!!!!!?? Those are just the ones I personally find the most useful, but there are loooaads others!!!! Here are some places w more information if you wanted it:
Uhm. Yeah. I use tone indicators with pretty much anyone who isn’t a close irl friend (ofc I use them w them too, but they usually know me well enough to know what I’m saying/mean at any point) because they make everything so much easier!!!!!!!!! Especially for me!!!!!!!! I don’t get online interaction etiquette, I’m constantly afraid of coming on too strong onto mutuals/afraid of people misunderstanding me, and I don’t really understand things over text. it’s annoying lmao,, tone tags saved my life!!!!!!!!!! Looooove stacking tone tags at the end of a sentence to make sure I’m not confusing 💞💖Hope this was helpful!!!!/gen
#UHHHMMM SORRY IF YOU WANTED A SHORTER EXPLANATION 😶😬 but yeah. Embarrassed that I only now realise I was using /nm incorrectly after#3 years on the Internet#ask#TONETAGS4LIFE

Here to say as someone else watching this Halley/Sophia drama, I’m so glad someone else is finally acknowledging how it’s not a big deal for Sophia to be going on a date with a random SINGLE man she vibed with. They weren’t besties. They weren’t close. She didn’t owe Halley loyalty. And everyone screaming about it being a girl code violation. By that logic you can’t date any man you ever seen ever bc what if he knows someone you knows? What if he dated your coworker from 4 jobs ago? What if he’s your cousins best friends sisters ex bf? Obviously you’re breaking girl code!
People are really losing their minds. I think it’s embarrassing she took him back. I think it’s embarrassing this whole thing had to be addressed in the first place (by either of them). This whole situation is EMBARRASSING. I’m embarrassed. Maybe it’s the etiquette classes from my childhood rubbing off but the idea of this whole thing even existing is wild to me
Lmao girl code is so unserious. It’s not real, and actually the theory of it is stupid. What started out as “hey let’s make sure if we see a girl falling down drunk we ask her if she wants a cab instead of just leaving her with a group of men” turned into this militant “you owe anyone with an XX chromosome undying fealty” like bitch NO I don’t know you.
If you need “girl code” to stop people taking your man, your man is trash anyway like why is this some random girl’s responsibility?
Thing is, it’s embarrassing that people put this kind of stuff on the internet. I am biased against Halley because the ick I get from a girl openly sharing to thousands of people how much this man didn’t like her is unquantifiable. It doesn’t make you look good girl, where is your shame? Once she did that I’m like damn you deserve whatever comes because you do not seem to care. And then to take him back??? Honey what? Is he back saying maybe he might love you now? Or are you just a placeholder? And how do you even make that right with yourself? Idk if you’re so adamant that there are sooo many other men out there Sophia could have dated…why don’t you go find one too?

I wish I could heart the individual reposts I get sometimes. Some of them are just SO good. Might just start screenshotting the reposts that make me giggle the most and then post them all once a week. Some stupid shit like that. I want to show my appreciation and acknowledge that I find you guys hilarious 🙏. Idk if it’s shitty tumblr etiquette to do sumn like that but oh well. And then if I do, does one include users, and mayhaps tag them? Or would that be intrusive or something? I have zero clue! The internet is scary! I’m still mildly new here ,.,
Anyway, imma just put a few in here I guess, of my recent faves. Imma start working on today’s catformer after this post promise.
And if people don’t come to my house with fire and rakes to burn me at the stake I’ll take it as a sign that this is okay and will probably start doing something like what I mentioned earlier.

This isn’t specifically about you and more about the anons, because I’ve noticed that you sometimes get requests to respond to meta posts other people make and something about that makes me a bit uncomfortable. Since your meta posts are widely liked by a big part of this community, it sometimes feels like you’re being kinda requested to „debunk“ other meta posts. Diversity in opinions is so important for a good fandom atmosphere and some of the anons you get seem to wanna stir up hostility and I don’t like it. Since I like some of your meta posts, but also find myself agreeing with other people, I just feel weird about this dynamic, you know? How do you feel about it?
I think that's a fair concern but honestly, I don't see it as inherently a problem. This might be my 00s internet bias here lol, but I tend to view meta on a public platform as fair game for response or external commentary - which includes my own posts. My meta is here to be read by anyone who wants to, and to provoke thought and discussion, and that's generally what I assume of others' meta as well.
Like I recognize that attitudes have changed in the era of mostly unmoderated spaces and reblogs and the lack of diverse comms with their own norms and discourse running rampant lol, and so it's often considered automatically rude to disagree with people now, but I think that can only extend so far. Like, I don't reblog posts just to disagree with them (unless they're a friend and I know they're cool with discussion) because I know it sucks when you keep getting notes from people who are liking or reblogging the take you disagree with, but I don't think that should mean not discussing other people's meta at all, as long as it's done respectfully of course.
And I understand why someone might want a second opinion on something they read. I think everyone should think for themselves and form their own opinions, and I completely agree that diversity of opinion is important in any fandom. But not everyone has confidence in their own analysis, or the learned skills for criticism, and I think it's reasonable to seek out other viewpoints and decide which seems most correct to you, or use them as boucing off points to figure out what you believe. I definitely don't want to be the only Berserk meta blog out there, and I'm more than happy to agree to disagree with most people. I'm not an authority on the story lol and people are free to agree or disagree with me however they see fit.
That said, I'm always a little wary about tone and intent, especially in Berserk fandom, because I'm not here to get into arguments and I try to make that clear. But I take most asks in good faith. Sometimes I might go a little too far with that lol, but honestly I'd rather come across as naive than hostile. If I found out that someone was trying to start a fight between me and someone else, or was using my posts to dunk on someone else, or if followers of mine took it as a cue to harass someone, I'd absolutely say something and stop answering those asks. (Hopefully we're all chill enough over here that this doesn't happen, btw. As far as I'm aware I've never incited anything like that and I've personally only ever seen fandom arguments started by people mad about Griffith fans existing, but tbf I also don't pay attention to whatever's happening outside of my dash.)
But yeah I don't think that's what's happening here, and I don't want to assume someone's trying to start shit unless there's clear evidence for that. Like in the last ask I got like this, the anon did specify that they agreed with the post they wanted me to comment on, and were just seeking more opinions/wondering what my own take was, and I think that's reasonable.
Idk, this is definitely one of those things where I know there are different valid opinions about etiquette. But I generally abide by the 'do unto others' rule, including here. I blog with the expectation that anyone can read what I write and agree or disagree, and that I might inspire other discussion. Sometimes I get nervous about being linked to notably hostile fan spaces, like the berserk reddit, but it has happened with virtually the same motivation as those anons (what do you guys think of this person's take?) and ultimately I'm fine with it, and even a little flattered.
All that said, at the end of the day I do think that it would be best for anyone who sends an ask referencing someone else's analysis to be specific about what they want to know, rather than a general 'what do you think of this?' question. Both because it shows why you're asking and what you're interested in and leaves less room for doubting your motivation, and because it makes it easier to answer.
#ask#anonymous#b#i don't necessarily want to encourage these types of asks so i'm not gonna post that last paragraph separately as a psa#but i don't want to tell anyone to refrain either as long as everyone's being chill about it#this is probably overly long lol but it's a fair concern and i want to address it as thoroughly as i can#theme: fandom

if kids don’t know better and will attempt to do something they read in a book/watched on TV, then why are you not blaming their parents for not teaching them this thing called morals?
morals develop completely separately from fiction after all, and kids as old as 5-6 are already able to tell fiction from reality apart. I can actually source that too, don’t need any google screenshots xD
besides, if you think basic online etiquette is harmful and wrong and you are afraid you’re going to turn into a murderer after reading murder stories, then please talk to someone and have them remove your internet access until you’re mature enough to handle (any) media
You are right about basic morals but when it comes to these heavy topics they have probably not heard of or really understand the importance of these topics because it is not something they’ve really learned about. (Which I’m going with the idea that these kids/teenagers are in middle school because that’s when I really got into many fandoms and I can imagine some would have gotten access to being able to talk online.)
But proships are and should not be basic etiquette and it is the reason fandoms that are meant for teenagers are so dangerous. These ships with these very heavy topics such as !ncest, r@pe, etc should not be shown so carelessly in a fandom that is directed at kids and teenagers. Adults are fully welcome to enjoy and create content for these fandoms but y’all need to realize that these fandoms are aimed at a younger audience so that’s what’s going to primarily make up these fandoms. And it’s disgusting that you want kids and teenagers to just not be allowed to enjoy and interact with others that like the fandoms they do because people can’t stop making and trying to normalize these types of content in teenage aimed fandoms.
And there is a massive difference between the way murder in murder stories and how proships are handled. Murder is used as a tragedy that usually used to give a character personality, as a point of a story, and or a motive to keep a character going. While shipping characters that are siblings for no reason besides you find them ‘cute together’ is only promoting incest. Idk why you’d use that as a comparison?
Tbh I could go on and on but I feel like I’m gonna throw up if I have to think of these things any longer. Take it as an excuse if you’d like but my point still stands.
#wish answers#btw this is the only one of these I’m answering#all other ones will be deleted bc I don’t wanna deal with it❤️#save your energy for someone who cares

hi!! so i’m going to the carolina hurricanes vs new york islanders game this sunday and i am almost entirely clueless about either team (and most of the sport but your info post was so helpful) 😭
if there’s any fun facts or interesting things (even if it’s drama or the players being silly) you know about them i’d love to hear, especially the hurricanes since that’s my home team! i’m not sure how much you follow either team, so if you don’t know much or this is a silly question, feel free to ignore
sorry if this breaks hockey etiquette or anything 😭 i wouldn’t expect someone to ask me for fun facts about real madrid lol but you are the resident hockey mutual here so <3
hello lovely anon! first of all, thank you for this ask i am so honoured that you thought of me as the person to go to for these questions, i love it so much! mwah! not breaking much hockey etiquette, i just have to apologize because these teams aren't my team so im not an expert, i just did my best! second of all (before i answer fully lol), i just want to say a disclaimer! hockey isn't as popular in the us as it is in canada, so for some us teams there isn't a lot of information because people in the city are more interested in american football or basketball. unfortunately, raliegh is one of those places. i listened to like 3 hours of canes podcasts, read so many articles, and literally scoured the internet for canes content and i found almost nothing. bestie im so so sorry! i did my best! because there isn't a big fanbase, there isn't many people reporting on this team, many fanpages, or much info about silly moments or drama :( i did my best to give you an overview of the two teams, a crash course in live hockey, some helpful links to learn more about the canes, and some silly stuff about the islanders (because they have so much historical drama!) i hope you enjoy this post and your game bestie ily
Live hockey
when going to a live hockey game, there are a few things you need to know before you go! live hockey is more similar to american football than footie, because the stadiums are quite small so the games are quite catered to people who are watching at home. here are some basics specific to live hockey
there are 3 20 minute periods with 15 minute intermissions in between each. during this intermission, you get to see the zamboni, a machine that cleans the ice to make it hard and smooth before each period. during the period, there will be between 1 and 3 TV time outs, where play will pause for 2 or so minutes so that the ice ladies and gents can shovel the ice with shovels, because the snow builds up and makes it hard to skate. during this time, usually most stadiums do fun games (like kiss cam, lookalike cam, that type of thing) during this time to keep the audience engaged! (zamboni for reference!)
if the game is still tied at the end, the game will go to overtime, and possibly the shootout. these are the best moments of the game! some people like to leave a bit early to beat traffic, but as long as the person/people you're going with agree, i would recommend staying the whole time. after a win, the team will come out onto the ice to celebrate with the fans (its similar but different from footie), and they will award the 3 stars of the night! its totally worth it to stay until the end
crowd atmosphere is so so different from every other sport. usually when watching hockey, everyone is sitting and just watching, there are some chants (idk the canes chants sorry!) but usually there isn't much crowd participation unless there's a goal. the game moves so quickly, you have to really focus to know whats going on (and the puck is small and hard to see it moving!)
watching the game: there are big jumbotrons in the middle of the rink that will show the score, the shots, how much time is left, and a recording of what is being showed from the tv cameras. it is so helpful to watch, especially when there is zoomed in shots. don't worry if you end up watching the jumbotron and the ice for equal amounts of time! i did that all the time as a kid because its honestly pretty hard to follow just looking at the ice unless you really know the game well
penalties! i know they are confusing, but when a player gets a penalty there will be an announcement for what the penalty is for (and who is on the power play), and the jumbotron will show a countdown of how long is left in the penalty! it is always fun to watch penalties, and you can pretty easily look up what each penalty means as they are announced
the night you're going is military appreciation night! i have no idea what this means lol. sorry! in canada we don't really do that sort of thing to the same degree, we did something for remembrance day but that is it lol. what i can sense from the website is that the canes will wear special jerseys for warmup, and they will probably have some military stuff throughout the night
2. overview of the teams
ok, so the hurricanes. hurricanes are doing very well this season, they have won 47 of their 74 games (as im writing this, they just lost their game tonight lol) and they have secured their spot in the stanley cup playoffs! they are at the top of their division, and they are looking to secure that spot by earning points in the remaining 8 games of the season. you are going to watch one of the last games of the season, and the goal for the canes will be to win to be confident going into the playoffs. strengths of the canes include their goaltending, their penalty kill (when they have one less player on the ice, they usually can prevent the other team from scoring) and their defence. weaknesses include scoring, they don't have a "star striker" that scores a bunch of goals, as their star striker recently got injured, and they also don't make the most of the power play (when the other team has one less man on the ice, they aren't consistent about taking advantage and scoring). here's my lil hurricanes summary for you (please ignore my messy writing i did my best)
lets meet the opponent! the islanders are in a rocky position, as they are fighting two other teams for a wildcard spot into the playoffs. they need to win every game they can to get in. the islanders are hungry, at the trade deadline (transfer window in hockey) they bought a bunch of players to try and improve their squad for the playoffs. they have won 39 of 76 games, they are fourth in their division, and they want to book a trip to the playoffs so this game is crucial for them to win. i didn't do as much research about the islanders (again im so sorry!), but i know that a strength of the islanders is their goaltending, they have one of the best goalies in the league in sorokin. weaknesses, im sure they have many i just don't know what they are. here's my islanders summary (again, sorry about my writing)
3. the lore
lou lamoriello. this guy is a character. he is old school hockey, he's over 80 years old, and he has been in the league forever. everything i hear from him seems like something either a cartoon villain or jose mourinho would say. he hates beards, and makes all his players shave when they are on his team. he won't let players wear high numbers because its not traditional. every quote he has is absolute gold because he could not care less about his public perception. he is his own boss, and you can tell because this man is unhinged. some gems include "i am not going to make a decision to make a decision," "i really wasn't thinking about it to tell you the truth," and "lets be careful how far we go with that"
islanders as a team. they are from long island, which is like new york's suburb cousin. they won the stanley cup 4 years in a row, set so many league records, and were thriving in the early 80s. then, they did nothing at all for almost 20 years and almost had to be relocated because their arena was literally, physically crumbling and the ice was warming up during games. iconic.
during this down era, random guy john spano tried to buy the team and almost succeeded. he faked bank statements and taxes stating he was a multi-millionaire, and he was the owner of the team for a few months. it wasn't successful, because he was really just a random small business owner from new york. the whole story is kind of unbelievable, there are many documentarties about it. this happened in the 90s. absolutely hilarious
bo horvat. bo horvat was the canucks captain for 3 years and he just got traded to the islanders in january. there's no lore here, i just love and miss bo horvat on the canucks. my heart broke when he left and i hope he's doing well
4. helpful links
because im not a canes expert, heres some useful resources for more information! this tiktok page is from a new canes fan as well, she goes to games and explains hockey as she learns it. her tiktoks are super helpful for info about the hurricanes game experience, and hockey for beginners! (i do my best but i think some of what i say doesn't make sense because some of this stuff ive known since i was little, so i can't explain it well. she does a way better job) and this podcast is helpful for game previews! they post a short 10 minute episode every day, so it is easy to keep up with and has lots of helpful canes specific information. other helpful pages are the carolina hurricanes social media, especially twitter and instagram. they will post pictures and gameday updates that will have info in them about the players, the lineups, and more fan content!
this is where you see that im a writer lol. im so sorry this is so long (and that there's so many footie references, im assuming you're a footie friend so if you're not im sorry)! i hope you find this helpful, this was super fun to make and write. i hope you enjoy your game, let me know how it goes! go canes (just for this one day for you, anon)!
#k the hockey prof???#k converts her footie friends to hockey friends!#anon asks 🫶#im incapable of writing a hockey post in less than 1000 words i swear#apologies to all my mutuals in advance#also there is no carolina hurricanes info? its so shocking to me because the city of vancouver literally revolves around the canucks#having less than no info about a team is so shocking to me#i hope you enjoy your game anon!#these asks are my favourite and this was so fun#ask me stuff like this anytime!#also so sorry about my writing i was taking notes while watching a game and listening to a podcast#my lovely hurricanes anon 🫶

gentle reminder because it’s almost election time in the united states: voting blue is not the end all be all solution to all american issues at home or abroad. a lot of people (including me) voted for a blue president (biden) the last time there was a presidential election and generally vote blue whenever there are “minor” elections because girl have you watched the news lately??? obviously vote blue … but hey let’s not forget that biden has
- pretty much done nothing to resolve student loan debt (or general american debt) issues
- not done anything significant regarding climate change (it’s oct. 2023 when im typing this if im wrong, correct me please)
- not made any effort to, idk, return abortion laws to all americans (“he can only do so much there’s rules” i don’t fucking care, thanks)
- pledged his support to the ongoing ethnic cleansing and genocide of palestine. continues to pledge his support to israel as of october 26 2023. is on twitter showing his ass the same way trump does. directly giving a thumbs up to the murder of thousands of thousands of people. doesn’t care that he is using american tax dollars to fund child murder and has in fact doubled down on his pov since this started. doesn’t care in generally apparently i can’t believe i voted for him or believed for a second that things would get better and he would be the one to make it happen.
can we maybe get up and recognize that voting blue is not (and probably has not been for a while if ever) what we and others have prophesied it to be?????? even on this shithole (affectionate) where i generally see some of the best internet etiquette about some of the most difficult topics of our lifetimes, people are saying vote blue no elaboration. just a few weeks ago i reblogged something about voting blue. “it’s better than voting red” “it’s the lesser of two evils” “it’s the best option” are you sure about that. why are two colors as far as we can get with conversations about laws and rights and freedoms that concern the lives of millions of fucking people that we’ve never even met. do we not recall that this country was built on black and indigenous slave labor, white supremacy, and indigenous genocide forced migration and ethnic cleansing, all for some “manifest destiny” bullshit because some dumbass was looking for another land, people, and culture to colonize (asia) and found north america by accident??????????? and that this legacy continues to perpetuate american politics regardless of what a candidates political colors are????????
i don’t know how much more of this shit we need to live through before we realize dividing the country by colors (red and blue) and “perceived values” (conservative and liberal) and leaving the conversation at the classic us vs. them is. fucking. stupid. if we can’t understand now after everything biden has done and will probably continue to do that voting blue is not going to save us, i don’t know what will make us understand. i’m twenty-two, black, queer, etc. and im tired of this fucking bullshit. i don’t know how our parents lived through this. i don’t know how anyone lives through this. but us vs. them is what got us into this, and i doubt it can get us out of it.
so when you go vote, please do your research first. i think i’d rather eat rocks or get thanos snapped than vote red, but like i just said, defaulting is part of the fucking issue, so read a thing or two before you pick your person, please. and take care of yourself and your mind or else (there are no consequences i just know we can’t fight the good fight if we all go insane so pls take care out there)(get a little treat do something silly skip responsibility cuddle something take a nap etc.)
and read about how you can support palestine (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sLUKG5HwKtFZZXaPOT3venMDq9PnJ_NM5dFzAhTRt_Q/edit#heading=h.hg4tp0gpsmmu) and please do something to express your support as well. inform, act, and pass it on.
#blue rambles#american politics#voting#abortion rights#palestine#gaza#israel#free palestine#free gaza#human rights violations#also: not a judge or political science major or senator or anything similar#me and my 2 brain cells barely know what we’re talking abt#so don’t grill my ass#i just reaaaaaaly think we need to expand our lenses when observing the modern human experience#and i’m angry#and i’m tired#and i’m in college so my shit is fried but i did my best#also: not saying vote red#as someone whose human rights are constantly up for debate#i’ll have you know i believe in human rights for everyone#and i hope we don’t all kill each other before we figure out how to love each other#k tnx bye#and stop going to starbucks and mcdonald’s there’s other shit to eat#p l e a s e

thank you for that post about the language used to talk about stede <3 it's nice to have someone who argues in such a kind and non-condescending manner, and you're absolutely right
i thought it was pretty commonly known tumblr/fandom etiquette to make your own post with a disagreeing opinion instead of piling onto someone else's, to avoid naming names. you did the right thing making your own post, no matter how much these people try to talk about tumblr like it's twitter.
Thanks! Yeah idk I see a lot of sub posts and for that exact reason it’s just so direct to comment on someone else’s post that can also seem aggressive.
I tried to make a post just highlighting my take without putting down others. I do see the frustration and misunderstandings sub posting or vague posting causes too. I usually try not to jump in because of this reason but my only intention with the original post was to put a perspective about why people like to use terms to tease stede affectionally. I don’t even particularly like really mean spirited stuff but the occasional joke about stede doing cringe stuff is what I tend to do. But people have different senses of humor and takes on stede so I guess there’s always gonna be friction.
Internet humor and etiquette is really tough to navigate so at the end of the day I just want to be kind.
Social media tends to amplify everything so I do hope I didn’t contribute to any hateful behavior. We can disagree with kindness and grace.

I’ve been thinking about Marcy (surprise surprise), and her relations to her family. Specifically, her mother and father. I doubt I’m saying anything new, but despite her parents having, what, a line each? We’ve learned a lot about how their family functions - or, at least, how Marcy views how it functions.
I know I’ve said that two lines isn’t enough to derive what Marcy’s home life was like, and I stand by that. But we have more than two lines, now that I give it some thought, cause we have Marcy’s actions. From the moment her parents told her they were moving to true colors, we have a pretty solid timeline of her actions.
Starting out at the inciting incident, the lines we see/hear from her parents are: “Come home. We Need to talk.” (A text from her father, who capitalized “need” for some reason), “Marcy, you have to understand.” (also from her father), then a crash (which isn’t a line, but it is important, which is why I bring it up. It isn’t clear who made the crash, which I also think is important), immediately followed by Marcy crying out “No! You guys are ruining my life!”, a “Marcy, wait!” from her mother, and finally, a “Get back here, young lady.”, from her father. And that’s it, that's all we get directly from her family.
I’m not going to look into the text to harshly, as her father’s probably not that young, and I still get texts from my parents that sound rude via internet etiquette. And if it is representative of his personality, I at least don’t think it’s indicative of his relationship with Marcy. Which moves me on to the actually conversation. But, take a moment to look at their house:
It’s a nice house, right? That couldn’t have been cheap (and neither could that car). But the lawn’s in disarray, there’s dandelions growing in it, and grass growing in the cracks of the concrete. It doesn’t go with the house, or the car. It’s to.. unkept. Which is strange, right? You’d expect someone who owns such a nice house to try and keep the lawn nice. Even if they hired someone to do it. Cause appearances matter. I think, just from the lawn, you can draw that Marcy’s father isn’t home a lot. Maybe because he doesn’t want to, maybe because he’s at work constantly, but either way, he isn’t at home enough to care about what it looks like, there’s a disconnect. Which cast the moving in a slightly different hue, I think.
The moving doesn’t really affect him. At least, no in any way that matters. For him, it’ll be a different house, but it’s not like he’s attached to the one he’s got now. And I think that characterizes him in a manner of someone who’s really into their work, to the point of neglecting the things around them.
Anyhow, back to the dialogue. The first thing you hear after the scene shift is Marcy’s “No!”, followed by a crash, then “You're ruining my life!”. It’s the closeness to Marcy’s line that makes me think Marcy’s the one who made the sound, not her father (or mother). And I don’t think it was ol’ klutzy Marcy that made the sound either, I think it was angry Marcy. I think she broke it - whatever “it” is - on purpose, which makes the next line her father says less.. damning than if said unprompted.
I don’t think that his relationship with Marcy is intentionally abusive or toxic, at least, not with the information we’ve been given so far. I wouldn’t, however, say that their relationship isn’t abusive or toxic. Marcy would rather go on constant near-death adventures then move somewhere else with her family, that says a lot about how she views her father. And yet, she still calls him dad (as seen in her phone). With the way I’ve characterized Marcy in my head (so take this with a grain of salt), she’d be the type of person to go extremely formal when with someone she dislikes. If she dislike her father that much, I don’t see how she would still be calling him dad instead of father. And, honestly, I think that’s okay. Familial relationships for a lot of people are complicated, and don't always follow logic. I think Marcy’s relationship with her dad probably falls into this category. Idk, I feel like I’m rambling now, so I’m gonna end it here.
(And I’m already grasping at straws for her relationship with her father, so I’m not even gonna take a stab at her mother, who got a third of the lines her father did)
#amphibia#marcy wu#ceris rambles#some marcy thought#idk if the end makes sense#but#still#i dont think Marcy's father is abusive in any intentional manner#rather#i think its more neglect#and i certainly don't think he ever got physical with her#but hey thats just a theory#a FLLILM no im just joking#id rather die than complete that joke

What are your thoughts on reblogging etiquette? I see so many things reblogged with nothing added, no new comments or hashtags, it’s just kind of odd? Do people reblog just to save their fav posts? I guess I get that with gif sets maybe... but find it odd, and I get disappointed, when someone reblogs my non-gif posts but doesn’t say anything. Thoughts?
ahahaha oh anon, idk if this is the answer you’re looking for. my general attitude towards internet etiquette is everyone’s allowed to internet how they choose to, which includes both engaging how they choose and not engaging how they choose.
i do think that a lot of people run blogs entirely curatorially, and if that’s what makes them happy, more power to them. i know that i am rather selective about what i put on my blog in that i want scrolling through it to spark joy. same with tagging. obvs i personally am a tagger and absolutely adore reading other people’s tags (tumblr tag culture is a source of endless fascination and delight) but i don’t hold it against anyone who doesn’t bc we all use our blogs differently.
as for adding on to posts, that’s a little bit of a minefield tbh! my personal policy is i generally try to only add stuff on if i’m friendly with the person i’m reblogging from. i used to be a little less rigid about it, but i’ve had people come into my DMs telling me off for adding on to their posts bc they didn’t like what i added and honestly i don’t have the time or energy to deal with that level of entitled nonsense (the internet is public kids, once you’ve posted something publicly on it, you’ve given up the right to dictate what happens after that, it’s both a blessing and a curse) so i don’t really do it anymore unless i don’t think that’s going to happen.
that said, there are a couple of things i think it would behoove people to keep in mind when bumbling about tumblr dot com:
no one is the boss of you or your mom.
nobody owes you their time and attention just like you do not owe anyone else your time or attention. part of this means it doesn’t matter how much you think something is important or want a specific reaction, no one is required to give that to you just bc you want it.
there is no one right way to internet but there is a wrong way and that’s trying to tell people there’s one right way.
existing on the internet is an implicit social contract. by doing so you are agreeing to be responsible for yourself, which includes accepting responsibility for how you engage, what you engage with, and the consequences of said engagement choices you make.
following/unfollowing, blacklisting, and blocking are tools available for you to use freely to curate your space and experience. keep points number one and two in mind and use them to achieve point number four.
already kind of touched on this, but the internet is public. once you post things on the public internet they also become public. once they have become public, they are no longer only yours and you’ve given up control over what happens next, up to and including people seeing them, reacting to them and engaging with them bc again, you have created public content for the public internet.
that said, the internet is also a community and if you make the active and ever-present choice to be a fucking dick about other people’s content, they’re probably not going to want to engage with you and that’s no one’s fault or responsibility aside from yours bc you were the one who chose to be a dick.
tumblr clout means nothing, this is a clown car, and competing for it is embarrassing. you’re allowed to be embarrassing, (again, no one is the boss of you and tbh sometimes being a gigantic embarrassment is a lot of fun), but that doesn’t make it any less embarrassing.
have fun!
tl;dr, my thoughts on reblogging etiquette can be summed up as ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
