You slide the book onto the counter with a little more force than intended, a grimace on your face as you eagerly avoid eye contact with the man standing before you. Blue and orange eyes linger on your figure before a light scoff escapes him, “What is this?”

You cough into your arm, eyes glancing back and forth between the digital clock on the wall beside you and the face you very much wished you would never have to see again, “It’s a book you lent me…I need to return it.”

“Okay,” he surrenders, but you know it’s only an act. Alhaitham always tried to find ways to prove you wrong, even over the smallest things. It was one of the many faults that resulted in the demise of your relationship, “What about it was boring to you?”

You click your tongue against the roof of your mouth and shake your head, “For starters, the plot lacked substance. A majority of the characters were the only thing carrying the story, however, many of the others were underdeveloped or forgotten about entirely. Not to mention, the author lacks an understanding of what real dialogue sounds like. I mean, c’mon! The guy sounds like he’s never even talked to someone in real life before!”

“It isn’t like you talk to many people either,” he retorts.

You scoff, “Oh, yeah? Like you’re any better. You barely even have friends! Poor Kaveh can’t shut up about how tired he is of you ganging up on him.”

“So you guys still talk about me then?” He cuts in before you can say anything else. It’s less of a question and more of a statement, and you can’t bring yourself to say he’s wrong.

You talked about him…a lot. Six months had passed and you still weren’t over him, as much as you didn’t want to admit it.

Your eyes focus themselves back on the same wall as before and Alhaitham takes the hint as he quietly slides the book into the counter behind him. “I still talk about you too,” he admits quietly when he turns back around, a serious tone in his voice, “Kaveh’s sick of hearing it, but then I remind him of his lack of a love life and he shuts up.”

A small laugh falls from your lips, “God, you are so mean.”

“I’m just being honest,” he states arrogantly, a small smirk pulling at the sides of his mouth.

Your eyes linger on his for a second before you glance down at the counter, “I still have another book of yours, you know?”

Alhaitham raises a brow, “Oh? Well I suppose you’ll have to return it me somehow. You know how much I value those.”

You hum and shoot him a smile, “If you meet me for coffee on Saturday, I can return it to you then.”

“Saturday it is.”

“kev, you have to take me to 67th street now.” you turned around with a glimmer of adrenaline lighting up in your eyes.

“i’ve literally just said i’m not getting involved.” he folded his arms in an indefinite refusal, but softened his posture as your soft puppy eyes shone back up at him.

“i can’t drive! and there’s no way i’d get there in time without you. plus if things were like you said, wouldn’t i die if i didn’t complete the task.” you were using his own words against him, in a cruel way but yet you found it still unconvincing that a game had some sort of sorcerers ability to kill people

“fine. but that’s it! i’m out.” he grabbed his car keys, observing the 2:58:54 that lit up both your phone and laptop screen.

kevin drove you into the city, picking up speed wherever he could as the dark night had settled in and by the time you guys had reached 67th street the timer hit 2:36:43.

“it could be any of these mailboxes y/n! this is a death wish!” kevin put his face in his palms out of stress before exhaling and parking his car on the curb of the west corner.

“it’s a branded game kevin, there has to be a clue somewhere.” you laughed observing each mailbox, as you strolled past them until you saw a smiley face sticker with the eyes crossed out with graffitied handwriting which read “good luck!”.

“calabunga.” you smiled, using the lever to open the box and retrieve the black key placed inside. “let’s go.”

kevin huffed as you sprinted back to the vehicle eager to feel the adrenaline seep through your veins.

kevin dropped you off at west avenue, giving you a hug before explaining his reasons for not being able to stay.

“take care of yourself and don’t get hurt. please call me if you need me.” a line he had gotten used to saying at this point considering your lifestyle he was used to your flighty antics. but it seemed like this time you’d gone a little too far.

there were multiple bikes chained up near the bike shelter on west avenue, but it wasn’t like you had time to eliminate each one. one motorcycle stood out in particular, it was jet black, clearly a brand new build with a huge silver smiley face pad lock attached to a clunky metal chain on the side.

you inserted the key in hopes of it being the right one and sighed in relief when the chain loosened and lock burst open.

“nice bike.” a butter smooth voice hollered from behind you, you turned to see a pink haired boy behind you, covered in tattoos and piercings.

“thanks. just got it.” you replied with a chuckle, pushing the bike forward out of the shelter.

“do you know how to ride it?” he asked cocking his eyebrow up slightly.

“not really but my dad used to ride em, so it can’t be there hard.” you laughed nervously, swinging your leg over the seat and settling on board.

“how about i drive you into town, since i think i can see what you’re playing and you take it from there?” he suggested, watching your face contort as you battled the decision in your head.

“i don’t know. i think i’ll be fine.” you replied, not trusting his sinister appearance and judging eyes.

“how else would you get there without having a clue how to ride it?” he made suspicious eye contact with you, his facial expressions seemingly trying to tell you something.

he’s a player.

he must had been told to pick you up and take you into town.

“ah. i get it. yeah, sure you can take me into town.” you smiled, clocking his nervous movements and sigh of relief at your acceptance of the offer.

“thank you.” he puffed out in gratitude quickly hopping on the bike, and handing you the singular helmet hung on the side.

“do you not need this?” you asked hopping on the back behind him. he turned around with a look on his face that read “are you serious right now?”

“no, who where’s those? now quick we only have 1 hour and 50 minutes.” he shrugged off your words and with that he started the engine, waiting for you to pull the helmet over your head and place your hands around his waist before speeding off onto the main road into town.

hollering, yelling, the sound of smashed bottles and a heavily a intoxicated crowd lit up the nightlife in town as they all gathered round main street gearing up for one of the most exciting street races in town.

pulling on the brakes, the pink haired boy slowed arriving at the riders bay at the beginning of the street, there were multiple boys who were just like him, accessorizing in tattoo sleeves and thick silver jewelry.

“okay, the main race starts in 10 minutes. don’t talk to anyone, there’s some wrong people around here.” he told you within a genuine tone, seemingly as he frowned.

“why are you-” you were about to ask why he was telling you this information before he started the gas on the bike again.

“i’m sorry.” he spoke just above a whisper in remorse.

“for what? you’re not stealing my bike, are you?” your tone rose slightly, eyes lighting up red in the reflection of the brake lights.

“RIDERS GEAR UP.” a loud voice chanted through a megaphone as each motorcycle began lining up down the street.

“i have to.” he laughed, driving away from you as you attempted the run after the boy.

“shit.” your legs soon grew tired and it was no use running after him at this point considering he was driving away at what felt like 90mph.

if what kevin said was true, you were dead.

you had no bike to race with and time was ticking down like sand, 1:05:34, the clock on your phone read with a sad smiley face beneath it. “uh oh” a robotic voice echoed through your speakers. it knows my bike was stolen?

you shrugged it off, watching as girls jumped on the back of their boyfriends bike ready for the race to start. you ran past each rider, asking if you could just by any chance, hop on the back of their bike for the race. but you knew you couldn’t mention the game, or the time you had left in your phone and most of them refused laughing at you pathetically.

“hop on mine.” a sultry sweet voice beckoned from behind you, a jet black haired boy with sharp facial features and a silver lip ring faced you, seemingly catching a glimpse of your phone screen which read 1:0:30.

without a second thought, you stuffed your phone in your pocket and slid on to the back of his bike.

“thank you.” you sighed in relief, looking around for a helmet to wear but there wasn’t one. “do you not have a helmet?”

“RIDERS YOUR RACE BEGINS IN… ” the megaphone voice echoed through the street, riders reviving their engines and the crowd spitting, hollering in excitement.

“no. just put your arms around me. hurry the fuck up there’s no time.” his tone grew serious and you rushed to wrap your arms around him as the traffic lights flicked between red and amber.

“READY.”

“SET.”

“GO.”

each driver released their brakes, shooting down the street at speeds above 100mph with no fear of consequences.

that rush of adrenaline you craved, rushed through your vessels as the motorcycle sped through the night, passing each street lamp at exhausting speeds, eliciting high pitched whistles and screams from the crowd behind the barricade.

the kind boy driving you wasn’t rushing yet, he capped his speed at 90mph for the first lap falling to the back of the hoard of vehicles crowding at high speed.

“we’re behind. we have to win.” you yelled into the boys ear over the overwhelming sound of roaring engines.

“i know but just wait until-” he shouted back but was largely cut off by the sound of screeching metal and a silencing crash as two riders brutally collided.

“THAT. that’s why you want to be behind.” he silenced you as you looked back gobsmacked at the fatal scene. shards of metal and bike parts still flying in the air almost decapitating you and the boy.

it was almost the final lap, riders being eliminated by obstacles one by one, crashing and setting fire to their vehicles.

turning the last corner, the boy picked up speed, racing towards the front of the competition, neck and neck with the rider beside you. looking to your left you saw the familiar pink haired boy, racing on the stolen bike towards the finishing line. he smirked, leaning to his right and almost clashing with your vehicle.

“Juyeon doing charity work? Awhh.” he cooed over the racketing sound of his engine, giving a name to the boy that had helped you enter the race.

“Fuck off, thief.” you hollered back, watching him smile and and shake his head, eliciting an overtaking match between Juyeon and himself.

“Juyeon! We have 30 seconds left!” you shouted over to the boy in front, he nodded and ramped up the speed one more time.

with that, the pink haired boy fell behind, the finishing line within arms length, the thrill of winning biting at you.

a tacky horn sounded as you crossed the finish line,

your phone screen lit up with digital confetti, the flash light turning off in a staccato pattern as the bike came to a hault.

“Yes! We win!” you squealed, hugging the boy as a thank you, he smiled slightly looking up to something with a cocky grin.

“Yes, we did indeed.” he spoke mysteriously, you followed his eyes up to the large billboard screen on one of the skyscrapers in the city.

both yours and juyeon’s face lit up on the big screen with a banner that read:

“POWER COUPLE? RACEFORTIME BIKE RACE WINNERS”

you covered your face in embarrassment, shying away from the camera as juyeon wrapped an arm around your shoulder smiling and waving - eliciting the crowd of girls gathered around with their phones to squeal.

“remember to upvote me, as your favorite player!” he said into the camera, giving it a heart which contrasted his dark mysterious appearance, leather jacket and piercings.

your phone began to chime with notifications, follows on instagram, messages from classmates, and a score in the top right corner began to rise.

“you gain popularity from this?” you asked curiously watching Juyeon smile back down at you.

“hell yeah. you’re talking to the most popular guy in the game.” he showed you his screen with a proud glint in his cat-like eyes.

“no problem, if you need anymore help let me know. it’s hard to survive this game.” he spoke solemnly, looking over his shoulder at the pink haired boy sat at the sidelines with his head in his hands.

as you began to walk off, you looked up to see kevin stood at the sidelines with a look that replicated death itself. an appalled, gobsmacked “o” for lips and eyes sunken in fear.

“you’re so dead when we get home.” he whacked you over the back of your head slightly, and escorted you back to his car despite distressing that he wasn’t coming to pick you up at all.

you turned back one last time to catch eyes with the mysterious juyeon lee, hopping back on to his motorcycle yet still watching you walk away.

you waved shyly, seeing a smile creep on to his face before he lifted his hand to wave back.

hopefully this wasn’t the last time you’d see him.

Okay obviously any movie adaptation of a book is going to be trimmed down. I get why they didn't spend time on certain things like Nora and Alex's dating history and Ellen's PowerPoint. It makes sense with the way movie beats work to show them getting outed immediately after they reconcile instead of having the extra act of them writing more emails acknowledging their love and fake dating Nora and June to try and take some heat off and Henry coming out to Phillip. Some changes like Henry's surname being different and having a king instead of a queen I know were about not offending the irl royal family and while I'm not exactly a fan of the monarchy I don't really care that much. Pez just being "Percy"? Kinda sad but again, I don't really care. I even understand cutting things like Bea's struggles with addiction, Catherine's depression and detatchment from her children, and Richards being the one who outed them with Raphael Luna as the triple agent - they have value to the story and I wish we could have seen them, but from a filmmaking perspective I can see how they would take up a lot of time to properly include. There were a lot of things I loved about this movie, which I'm adding to the bottom of this post so as not to be a total downer. Overall I think it was a good movie and a relatively faithful adaptation. But also there are some changes I am less a fan of.

So, my biggest issues with the RWRB movie:

Amy being trans is never mentioned? It's literally one line in the book could it not be one line in the movie? (At least they didn't cast a cis actress, so presumably the character is still trans, but we could have said that. She could have at least worn a pin that would not have been hard)

Bea is younger than Henry 🤨 What even was the purpose of this change?

Look I'm not even gonna talk about June we've all talked about June plenty already

Alex already knows he's bi? His idiot crisis is a huge thing! It establishes so much about both his and Nora's characters! Was it really so important to reduce things by five minutes that we couldn't get a quick "wait I like guys???" "congrats you are literally the last to know"

Nora being bi is never mentioned?? I get that without June you'd have Pez focus his affections on Nora but having a thing with a guy doesn't make her straight! She could have at least said something when Alex came out to her! (Also without June you lose the poly undertones of Nora June and Pez which I at least thought was pretty important)

Just gonna reiterate, because the more I'm thinking about it now the more upset it's making me - They erased Nora's bisexuality and Amy's transgenderism and June doesn't exist? Congrats you've killed all the story's queer women

Ellen and Oscar are supposed to be DIVORCED that was IMPORTANT

No inspiring Alex speech to the crowd while they're waiting on Texas - this moment could have been so much more active than standing in the hall waiting and hoping

Alex gives his coming out speech BEFORE they get permission from the crown?? That doesn't even make sense! One, he never talked to Henry about it, and two, the white house would never have risked international relations by letting him do something like that without the king's permission

Getting permission from the crown was way too easy. In the book Catherine literally had to blackmail Queen Mary into letting them come out. You're telling me the king just went, "Are you SURE Henry are you REALLY SURE okay fine"? It way takes down the tension of the climax and also kind of invalidates all of Henry's fear that he's been struggling with the whole movie. That being said, things I loved about the RWRB movie:

"And I thought Alexander Gabriel Claremont Diaz was a mouthful" - "He is"

"History, huh?" in the V&A (I'm sad this wasn't in the emails because it means no wider HH movement from the public, but it was really sweet how they did it)

Visibly obvious red-rimmed eyes from both Henry and Alex (though Henry more) throughout most of the third act - just a little detail that I appreciated

Alex's conversation with Henry about being a person in politics who looks like him when his dad didn't have that growing up

Henry full on swimming away so fast when Alex tried to tell him he loved him, no mosquito excuse in sight. This was just really fucking funny I don't know why

Exchanging the necklace for the ring - works really well, great excuse for him not to add the ring to the necklace (for those who don't know, they tried this first but the lump was really obvious and it screwed up the costume so they had to figure out a different way to do it)

Henry continuously playing the piano throughout the movie

Despite being a prince in his brother’s precious kingdom, Leona was more of a phantom in the shadows with the way he appeared and disappeared throughout the day, avoiding the incessant duties the royal family was expected to complete as leaders of the kingdom. If Leona wasn’t king, then what was the point in working in a position he did not wish to have? He’d much rather doze off in the palace’s serene gardens or order around his gentleman-in-waiting, Ruggie Bucchi, rather than waste his days in a drab, old meeting room with nobles who were only there to suck up to the king’s power through Leona. It sickened him and sent a bile taste to the back of his throat. Being around those leeching nobles, he means. Each one wanted the same as the last: money, control, the king’s place at the throne—you know, the usual needy desires a noble can have. 

Although, the young prince of Sunset Savanna had come to realize that you had been drastically different. As the heir to a dukedom in a far off land, you were a common visitor at the Kingscholar’s palace, with you attending each and every meeting, ball, and social gathering his brother’s kingdom had to offer. You were kind, so intelligent, an overachiever in every way possible, took part in royal gatherings, and—

It pissed him off. Every smile on your face was fake, every word you spoke was hollow, and each thing you did felt so… manipulated. Like you were a marionette while your dukedom was the puppeteer. The picture perfect heir to a controlling duchy. Leona could see right past your goody-goody facade and he hated it. He despised the way you two had been chained to the orders of your families, despised the way you barely showed any authentic emotions, and despised the fact that you both had been drowning in your own misery. 

Leona wanted to change that.

And so, lazily pulling you along the long, barren halls of the grandiose palace, the prince of Sunset Savanna guided you away from royal grounds and into a mystical forest adjacent to the Kingscholar’s castle. The forest was filled with enchanting creatures and flowers alike, with pixies, magical butterflies, mysterious mushrooms, and plentiful groups of fairies adorning the forest trees with golden dust that looked like heaven. It was like a dream you wished would never end. 

“I’m leaving this godforsaken place, and you’re coming with me,” Leona declared, interrupting your entranced state. 

“Wait, what? Why me all of a sudden?”

Leona immediately stopped in his tracks at your words. There was no way you could be so clueless, right? I mean, you were the only other person he spoke to in the palace and the only noble he genuinely enjoyed speaking to! Were you also so blind to his obvious stares and glances back at every ball you both would attend?

The young prince sighed and thought to himself. Wow, all of these brains, but you can’t tell when a guy likes you? Pfft— The whole ordeal was laughable, really, but he realized that now was not the time to tease you about it. Maybe later, he supposed. After he dealt with your airheaded self.

“Ugh, fuck it! I can’t take it anymore,” Leona said as he gently grasped your shoulders to make you face him, while gradually inching closer to your figure intimately. His actions were so tense that even the fae flying around you two halted in the jittery energy the prince had exposed. This was completely unlike him, and he knew it. But since when did falling in love ever make sense, hm?

Leona held your body close to his as his emerald eyes bore into your own colored ones. “I’m afraid your existence in my life has tremendously done wonders to my racing heart. It’s not fair. It was never fair. I may have to ask for yours in return.”

“Leona, I—”

 "Just take my hand, herbivor. Don't you dare second guess yourself and come with me. I know you hate this place just as much as I do.”

Perhaps a knight in shining armor isn’t all a tale needs to be saved. Perhaps what it truly needs is two suffocating souls, lost and bleary, finding each other in the masses and pulling one another out of the shadows they had found themselves in. There was no sole “savior” because the two souls would save each other. 

A happily ever after only you and Leona could create for yourselves.

Love Sea Ep 10 Thoughts

We have finally made it to the end of the show. I still have not watched episode 8 and I doubt I ever will. From what I have heard, the show and the story actually makes more sense to me than it does to people who have seen episode 8. That’s crazy. Anyway, I just made lunch and I got my juice so it’s time to watch. As always, here’s the disclaimer that I pretty harshly critique this show. Okay before I even start, how the hell do I have zits on the back of my neck. Where did these bad boys come from? One is right on my hairline. Hello? Go away.

Okay okay okay. I am going to go into this with an open mind actually. I am too tired and exhausted and sick to not at least try to enjoy this show. Also I was way too verbose for episode 9 and all of my thoughts were actually too long for tumblr. I ran out of characters. So gonna have to try to reign that in a bit today.

I beg your finest pardon but why the fuck is this episode one hour and twenty minutes long? Yeah this post is probably gonna end up too long too. Maybe I’ll just do two parts if needed. (it did not end up too long yay!)

Not gonna lie to you guys. I do love back hugs like this. As many problems as I have with this show and these characters…this? This is cute. See? I’m not always bitter! Just..most of the time.

Why mention the video clips that Rak’s dad apparently has just to say “oh it’s been taken care of. It’s not a problem.” That’s not how stories work. If you introduce a potential problem, you gotta let it be a problem or let the characters work to resolve it before it becomes a problem. Not just say “yep here’s a thing that should have been a main conflict but don’t worry. A character that only exists off screen and has only really had any sort of role for the past 2 episodes took care of it already!” Like…what?

Every day I am forced to be overstimulated by the nature of living in a city. Why do I live here I ask myself constantly? The answer is always because I can walk everywhere I need to go including to work and also because I love it. Just not…the idling trucks. The big engines. There is nowhere for the sound to go because it’s trapped by all of the tall buildings and I am on the bottom floor literally on the street. I walk out my apartment and boom. One of the busiest roads in my city. Anyway I digress. I have been overstimulated since June. The fall cannot get here fast enough.

You know I never fully understood how or when Mut fell in love with Rak. I still don’t know. I mean he was flirty on the island and they fucked but when did Mut actually fall so hard? I cannot pinpoint when his lust turned to love. It must have been a specific moment because it certainly wasn’t a slow build into love. Nope. One day Mut loves his island more than anything in the world and then he leaves it for Rak. Without a second thought. I just would like to understand when that happened. Sure, he liked Rak, but to love someone enough to give up your home? And I know he’s about to dip and go back home (without telling Rak) but I cannot figure out why he left in the first place. I know the answer is because he loves Rak but I did not see that until he actually fucking left the island. I did not see that until episode 6 when he finally maybe started respecting the barest minimum of boundaries.

Oh how this show looooooves its flashbacks. At least this one kind of makes sense. Though I wish it trusted its audience enough to know what Mut is calling back to.

A flashback to when Mut literally broke into Rak’s room…wait those aren’t the right words. He didn’t need to break in because HE HAD THE KEY when he should NOT have had the key.

Why the fuck did that get a romanticized flashback? Invading someone’s privacy is not romantic y’all what the fuck.

Well. That was a show. That I watched. Honestly, out of all of MAME’s offerings it was simultaneously the best and the worst. There was no sexual assault (that I am aware of, again I skipped episode 8). So that’s a plus. It is, however, the laziest writing I have seen from a BL in a long time. Is it a good show? No. Is it a good BL? No. Is it a good MAME show? Eh. Depends on the metrics. The story had structural issues as well as pacing issues. The cinematography needed work and that’s not something I am typically capable of noticing. The sound mixing was some of the worst I’ve heard in a BL. At least lately. The acting was fine. Actually, can someone give these actors some better roles for the love of god???? All of this to say. I am glad ViMook isn’t officially canon and I hope that Mook is able to get away from Vi cause that girl is awful. The end.

wish the boon the warden chooses had some sort of an impact in the later games... the dalish getting a chunk of land in ferelden is kind of significant, isn't it

after the game, rhian visits their clan (the half of it which remained in ferelden) with leliana, and finally has a brief moment of respite, even if it's only a week. after that, they travel to weisshaupt to get officially recognised as the warden-commander (and in my canon worldstate report on alvea's 'death') and eventually return to ferelden

I'm sorry in advance for distracting you from making a part 2 to your leech twin post (congrats on that post having over 200 notes btw ^^). However in my opinion in book 5, I just can't get over how weirdly Neige is written.

Don't get me wrong, I love how nice and friendly his character is. BUT it's weird to me that him and Vil are besties, but there's a one sided hatred in their friendship. Like whenever Vil sees Neige he's like "Omg not this guy >:(...I mean omg hi :D!" And I feel like Neige should have matched that vibe. It's weird to have Neige be so friendly to Vil, when not even Snow White was that nice to the Evil Queen.

I do understand in book 6 Vil was like "I was just being unreasonable, Neige deserves everything." However in book 7 in the jp server Vil's dream was like "Neige is my servant, and literally deserves nothing." Like huh???

It's also weird to me how long this has gone on, and NOBODY noticed??? I mean I assume Vil and Neige have been friends for a while, since Neige has given him a nickname, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Neige is probably just being overly familiar and naive.

The nature of Vil and Neige's relationship seems to be mostly professional. I don't remember anything really stating that they're true friends so much as they just work closely pretty often. So I think Neige just feels a sense of kinship while Vil sees a rivalry.

What we do know from the story (at least as far as I can find in the EN version) is that Neige and Vil debuted together, and have been casted alongside eachother since they were kids. I think that they see each other more often than most celebrities do. Between work and events such as the SDC, Neige just tends to think that they're friends because they have spent a lot of time together--relatively speaking--and Vil has never told him otherwise. I also think that Neige is written to be overly optimistic and he tends to read the best into people's actions and intentions (kind of like Kalim). Vil is very image conscious. He probably doesn't want to start celebrity drama or look petty. So Vil won't explicitly say they are friends, and he'll at least act cordial in front of Neige and the cameras. In any case the game hasn't made it clear what the public perception of Vil and Neige's relationship is, so at the moment I would say that their dynamic is like two coworkers who are in the same department but don't see each other outside of work.

One of them thinks they are friends because they work so well together, and the other hates him just for existing. I bet Neige DOES wish he and Vil could hang out more casually as friends, but Vil makes excuses as to why that can't ever happen and the former just takes his word for it as opposed to reading the subtext. Vil describes Neige as "oblivious" here, and I honestly think that might be the case. We'll throw a bone to Vil as well though: he is an actor and I can see a majority of people not seeing past his professional appearance regarding his peer/costar.

I find it really funny actually. The only thing that would make it funnier is if they had the dwarves telling Neige, "You know that guy hates you, right?" And Neige just not willing to believe it because Vil always acts so nice around him.

We can only hope to get a deeper look into Neige's character later. (Which I would very much enjoy, because at face value I do like him.)

It takes a while for Kinji to develop feelings for someone, and due to your personality, there's a chance you couldn't tell when he did

In his school life, when he learns to open up more and overcomes his social struggles through befriending Kakeru and Kanata, your classmates figure out his feelings out pretty fast

Through Haru, Yamato, and Mitch teasing him (As well as some of the church kids-) he eventually takes you somewhere he knows you’re comfortable, and asks you out

When you first met, you probably giggled at his accent (best sound he ever heard-) and then started crying because you thought that you offended him.

He's a crier sometimes, so he usually uses calming techniques that his dad used on him

"A-Ah! D-Don' worry! Ya didn't upset meh! I-It's okay!"

He makes sure that no one in the sunshine quartet (Him, Kiyoka, Haru, and Satsuki) pranks you, but sometimes they pretend to so he can "protect you" much to his annoyance (and embarrassment when you actually thank him, making his face go red)

You guys become friends and have a friendship much similar to Kakeru and Kanata's, shy cinnamon roll and smol bean, but you find yourselves getting closer

He's shy and stutters when confessing, and his accent leaking out no matter how many times he tried to practice in front of a mirror even after his dad walked in on him

"Y-Y/n! I..erm.. really like ya! A-And I want to... do so many things wit' ya, and-...dat came out wrong, wAiT-"

You accept his confession of course

When the two of you meet, you mention that you are surprised that he is a lawyer because of his personality and appearance, to which he gets shy and tells you that he doesn't like people assuming those kind of things, to which you cried for offending him and he freaked out

Either Kanata, Yuki, or Yamato has to step in and calm you both down

Despite an awkward first impression, you and Kakeru soon become friends, working together to battle both of your anxiety. Eventually, Kakeru improves at comforting you whenever you cry, usually by having some of your favorite snacks on him at all times, and you treat his wounds whenever reverse course students try to hurt him 

There's a chance he won't notice catching feelings for you, just finding himself being a bit more shy around you, but he doesnt mention it since he doesn't want you to cry over it

Eventually, one of your classmates, probably Kanata just has to tell him that he's in love 

This is kinda random, but I feel like Kanata would slowly ease you into helping him instead of her when Kakeru is injured and would give him advice on asking you out. She's just a wingwoman who wants the best for her friends

He asks you out, probably by giving you a note to meet him somewhere, and asks you after school

"H-Hey...Y-Y/n... I..r-really enjoy our time together! A-And I was wondering... if you'd like to go on a date..w-with me." He is stuttering and blushing more than ever.

You accept and the two of you watch a movie at home and cuddle. His face is red the whole time but it's one of the best days of his life.

He would probably fail to catch you most times, and he would be too embarrassed to move, before rushing to cover you up. He does get better at catching you with time though

He leaves before the entrance ceremony can begin, so you don't actually meet him until later

For a while, he just watches you from afar, you're...intriguing to him.

It doesn't matter how hard he tells himself that he doesn't want you. Your paths cross again, you talk to him for no reason, he gets hurt just for you, not Kanata for some reason, to patch him up.

As he learns of your past through one sided conversations, he realizes...

And then he sees you with your friends, your male classmates, some with personalities just like the people who had taken so much advantage over you...

After some time, your conversations become less one sided, and Utsuro makes an occasional appearance at your class's activities, not to mention that you barely fall anymore... 

As Yamato and Mikako, who've caught on to his feelings and been one of the few people he's learned to sort of trust, tell him how he should ask you out, he eventually leaves and finds Akane.

A Huge Update Post!!!!!!

Hi everyone, @thattoastygecko (your moderator) here. It is me.

This bracket has been quiet recently but now it is time to resume it. But I have a buncha changes to make bc let's face it, this bracket? It's an unorganized mess lmao

Also I was thinking of going back to doing 2 groups of contestants at a time again, y'know 8 votes at once. Because let's face it this bracket is huge & honestly some of the entrants I kiiiind of wish I didn't put in.

Example of what I mean: Hanamusa. Don't get me wrong I love that ship, they've brought me so much comfort. But honestly they got like 600 votes. & Something about seeing them bring in THAT MUCH ATTENTION but none of the other polls got anywhere close to that kind of attention & knowing they'll probably just completely sweep the entire thing makes me think putting them in was not a great move. If only because it's gonna be super unfair & also makes me a bit sad that none of the other parts of the bracket are gonna get that much attention. I SWEAR IF I EVER TOOK THEM OUT IT'S NOT BECAUSE I HATE THEM IM HAPPY IF THEY WIN ITS JUST

seeing the rest of the poll get ignored so hard in comparison just makes me sad bc i feel like it means i did a crummy job on the rest of the tournament when it doesnt involve them, it's entirely my fault & just how my brain is, so pls understand that

But ultimately I am gonna avoid doing this, because I also don't wanna remove anyone. I mean if any character is in this poll, its because they damn well earned the right to be in this poll. They all mean something to me even if its just very very barebones like "they look cool"

I want this bracket to be just, I'm gonna embrace what a total mess it is. It's unorganized, chaotic & nonsensical & I think we just gotta embrace the pure chaos of it all. 02. favorite main character, side-character, ship, and villain?

Favorite Main Character: Tied between Aphmau and Laurance tbh??? Laurance is without a doubt the best-written character over the course of MCD, given he gets two whole seasons of being part of the main cast while most people only have one. But Aphmau herself has really really grown on me over the years! Really given how much happens to her, she's very unique as a character, and I really like the incredibly specific "naive girl who doesn't know how the world works has to go out and figure out how to live" archetype and she fits into there perfectly lol.

Favorite Side Character: Vylad. Have you heard of him. You may have heard of him. He should've been a main character I cannot believe he got sidelined so hard. Hes the REASON WHY APHMAU EXISTS WHAT DO YOU MEAN AARON GETS MORE SCREENTIME THAN HIM WHAT DO YOU MEA

Favorite Ship: I like Vylance (Vylad/Laurance) a lot :) I feel like I don't talk about it a lot because a lot of it to me is either A: Kind of weird because neither of these guys know how to hold a healthy relationship or be honest about emotions they experience in general. or B: Extremely sappy and therefore embarrassing to post about. But I think their dynamic is very interesting and I wish it was a much wider spread thing ^-^

Favorite Villain: Honestly MCD doesn't have a lot of Villains it handles well.... Ivy was incredibly fun but the stuff surrounding her was weird and then she died too fast... The Shadow Lord never got to be a character until S3 and by then he was gross and weird and not an actual interesting/threatening villain... Gene is kind of the same they didn't actually utilize him a lot on screen despite him being very interesting.... I like Sasha a lot but I don't think she really counts as a Villain... Same for Zenix he's in a weird gray area to me..... Parts of Michi are fun but there are a lot of implications around her that really Arent and also her motives are just not thought through at all.... Garte is never on screen once.... The Demon Warlock had potential but mostly he just kinda felt placed in there out of nowhere...

I guess Zane wins by default mostly because everyone else tripped and fell at the finish line. There are parts of him I don't like (why did you try to publicly turn a baby into a shadowknight when your greatest advantage is that you are a trusted public figure) but overall I think he was handled better than any other big villain we encounter. So congrats Zane you win !!
