at some point rick decided that the big bad, the big evil tyrant, was zeus and all of the gods were also victims and powerless to him even though that was never the case in pjo and sadly this mid-hoo/toa caricature-ish characterisation of zeus and the gods stains everything rick comes out with now
#like. zeus was always the 'king' but the shift in how he is characterised between pjo and toa is INSANE#hoo too tbh but he's barely there so it's hard to say#anyways i hate new zeus bc it takes agency away from the gods. they couldn't see their kids bc THE BIG EVIL MAN would not let them 😫#like be for real. the whole point was that they're supposed to be this grand being and they're trash. they cannot do anything for their kid

chapter 152 thoughts
Chapters Since The 143 Kiss Happened And Went Entirely Unacknowledged And Unaddressed Count: 9
Aqua Hoshigan Status: White??!???!?!?
WELL DAMN. OKAY. LET'S FUCKING GO I GUESS.
With the End Of The Play… miniarc? interlude? wrapping up, Oshi no Ko officially confirms we're in endgame territory and slams down on the gas to barrel full speed towards its conclusion. This chapter was definitely a mixed bag, but I didn't dislike it and I SURE CAN'T SAY IT WAS BORING AT LEAST………….. It reframes a lot of things that lead up to it - I suppose that makes 'recontextualization' the keywork for this chapter, then.
The return to the volume 1 interviews in this chapter were kind of a surprise LOL. Given that the anime trimmed all but Ai's, I kind of took that as an implicit confirmaton that they weren't really that important so it's a bit of a jumpscare to see Gotanda (& Aqua's) revisited here. That said, revisiting them here is more about clueing the viewer that we're caught up chronologically with those flashforwards and thus that everything from this point on is officially uncharted territory, so I still do think cutting them from episode 1 was the right call to make. I don't think it causes any plotholes or incongruities since these interviews are really kind of incidental in the grand scheme of things… also let's be real I don't think any of us are expecting the anime to get that far into the story, even if I would give my left leg to see the anime team work their magic on chapter 137………………………….
That said, it's pretty fucking rich for Gotanda to try and talk big about the movie not being fictional when we heard from the horse's mouth that Abiko and Yoriko just fucking made up the dynamics of one of the most central and pivotal relationships in it out of thin air lol. Not only that, but like…
15 Year Lie is a movie with a pretty clear narrative. This by itself is natrual and expected. Narrative is the shape in which the human brain most readily accepts information but to create a narrative about something is to fictionalise it. Even when it's a narrative about real events - because narratives are, themselves, fiction. They have cleanly defined beginnings and ends, arcs and the promise of neatly packaged payoff and catharsis that is impossible to achieve in reality. To create a narrative about Ai's life in any form, let alone in a movie made for mass general audience consumption, unavoidably necessitates reducing her to a fictional character to observe rather than a fellow human to understand.
Which is… you know, horrifying! Fucked up and ghoulish! It's exploition of Ai in death just as she was exploited in life and I really wish the Movie Arc had actually focused on that uncomfortable undercurrent. This was, after all, supposed to be a movie about Ai.
BUT ANYWAY, CAST SCREENING OF THE MOVIE… we get some detail about reactions to the content but even as characters are literally talking about the movie and Ruby's extremely important role in it they just conveniently avoid discussing the content of it. But surely with all those important scenes that were set up and with the public release of the movie and Kamiki's side of the story to tell, we'll get some more details, right??? [audible copium huff]
Akane's tearful reaction is interesting, though. They're specifically singled out as not being to do with the content of the movie and her expression is a bit ambiguous - you could read is as resigned or relieved just as easily. I think she has clearly recognized something about Aqua's revenge in the movie which prompts that reaction but who even knows what's going on with akane at this point lol. sure not akasaka.
The girls all ragging on Ruby's acting was also kind of… like, yeah, remember when Ruby not being a good enough actress to carry a whole movie was kind of a huge issue??? The fact that this is resolved by everyone saying "yeah it was bad but idk aqua made it good somehow" was kind of silly lol.
I do really like Melt stepping in to stick up for Ruby, though - because yeah, of course hearing that would probably bring up some bad memories for Melt…! I also like that he doesn't try to shallowly flatter her or butter her up - he's frank about where she still needs to improve but hones in on the part that really matters. He really is a good kid.
That said, him sticking up for Ruby and her glomming onto him and calling him 'Master' (ししょ/匠, shishou, as in the master of a craft addressed by their disciple, in Japanese) does kind of highlight that the MLRB mentorship that got set up in 144… went nowhere??? We can assume by Ruby's response to him here that it happened offscreen but it really does feel like a total waste of time to have spent what was effectively an entire chapter on setting up a new character dynamic that just didn't happen. Like… really, in hindsight, what was even the point of that chapter other than to establish that Melt… was also here??? I guess we still have the final arc for that to resolve into something but.
It just kind of sucks because I think a MLRB friendship could be really fun! I think they have the potential for a good dynamic and there's some really interesting parallels between them both that are ripe for farming. At this point, it's probably way too late for us to expect anything to come of it, so I can only daydream……..
tho it is really funny to me that at this point, since 143, ruby has had more meaningful on panel interactions with melt than she has aqua. What Did They Mean By This.
Gotanda and Kaburagi's talk that followed also left me with pretty mixed feelings. As expansion on/closure for Kaburagi (and Gotanda to an extent), I think this was fine… there's just a few little details that bother me, I guess.
On the one hand, I really like Gotanda's frank admission that there's no way to know whether the movie really captured the 'real' Ai. This is another thing I've talked about over and over during the Movie Arc but nobody making this movie is really in a position to be making that call - the only person who really could is Ai and… well, she's not here anymore to advocate for herself. Seeing Gotanda acknowledge that does scratch some of what was left unitched by this thread but…
Eugh. I don't know. Something about this movie, which is about Ai's life, Ai's tragedy, Ai's final push to be shown to the world as she was and to potentially be accepted being made to be about Gotanda's regrets just feels kind of icky to me. Maybe it just feels especially bad because it feels like 15 Year Lie has become more about every other character involved than her. I'm sure people are sick of me complaining about it, but it really does feel like Ai as a figure of emotional importance to this story is getting increasingly downplayed and dismissed and…… just feels bad, I guess!!!!
Kaburagi's side of this conversation is a lot more engaging, at least. This does tragically represent the end of my Secret Villain Kaburagi Theory and I feel decidedly mixed on the story choosing to frame him so sympathetically… but on the other hand, I do like how this implication of guilt and sense of responsibility reframes basically all his prior actions in the manga. It seems to confirm that he clocked Aqua (and thus by extension, Ruby) as being Ai's child right from the start and explains why he was willing to go so far in pushing their careers along at little benefit to himself - it was out of atonement to Ai.
that panel of young kaburagi and baby ai having lunch together. fuck, man. the fact that she took the burger out of the wrapper like she does in viewpoint b………….. babygirl i loev u so muuuuchchchchchchhchchchchsjsjsskasklsndkdkd
and……………………….. now it's time for aqua's interview. Jesus Christ.
I like the recontextualization of Aqua's interview here and the way we see This Mysterious Interviewer gradually pick apart his responses. I especially got SUCH a thrill out of his 'I won't love anyone' schtick being called out as the bullshit it is - one of my first really meaty OnK metas was of Aqua's interview segment specifically and I zeroed in on this sentiment specifically as being a lie that Aqua was trying to project and seeing the text back that up makes me a very happy Claire
But more importantly though… what Aqua has to say after that makes me particularly excited.
First of all, let's get it out of the way: KAMIKI JUMPSCARE!!!!!!!!! It seems implicit that he was the one doing all the interviews which is very fucking funny considering his presence in the movie itself, but I'm not entirely sure it changes or adds much other than giving Aqua the opportunity to death note speech his ass.
What is fascinating to me about this talk is what it implies about Aqua. Every time we've seen his revenge play come up before this, the very strong implication is that Aqua intends to die at the end of it, either by Kamiki's hand or his own. But here, face to face with the man he's dedicated his entire life to ruining, Aqua doesn't just state his intent to get revenge but his intention to reclaim his future by doing so. We've gotten some pushes towards this since 150 but this is the clearest declaration of his intent to finally seize hold of this second chance and fucking live it that we've gotten out of Aqua… honestly, ever!
And accordingly, we see Aqua return to his white hoshigans here. I don't necessarily know if I want to call this slam dunk confirmed but this WAS really exciting to see given how it falls in line with my interpretation of "white hoshigan = hope = future" and "black hoshigan = despair = futurelessness". Everybody has been spending the last few chapters basically begging Aqua not to throw away his future and hurt the people he loves just to chase his revenge and it does seem like they're starting to get through to him.
Is this development kind of rushed? Honestly, yeah! I would've loved to see this explored more from properly inside Aqua's POV and it feels especially abrupt given how hard he got ignored all during the post-123 section of the Movie Arc. But at this point, it just feels so fucking good to see Aqua say out loud that he wants to have a future, that he wants to finally move forward and live that I can't bring myself to care. I just want him to finally be happy!!!
that said how fucking funny is it that the closest thing aqua has gotten to therapy in years is from his estranged father, a serial killer
break next week…!

what do you think is Kenny's fatal character flaw?
to me it always seems reductive to attribute his failings to violence on itself and not something more rooted, to me what debilitates him more than anything is cowardice. But again, what do you think?
we're on the exact same page about violence for this universe because the whole damn point of the uprising arc and kenny's entire appearance in it, imo, is a prelude to paradis' re-entry into international conflict. measuring any of these characters based on quantitative on-page violence is so goddamn naive, but that's a tangent for my defense of gabi braun
kenny himself identifies too closely with violence as "the only tool he had," and it's silly to take his snk 69 narration as reliable/his sense of self as clear. cowardice is a great word and i think the ultimate truth of it all, but another excuse he might make is he focused too hard on uri, and later his "grand dream." another lie he tells himself could be: he's a u-haul lesbian. he fell so hard and so fast that it didn't even occur to him he was failing kuchel. kuchel and levi are like succulents or sourdough starter he forgot about
because really! if he's employed as uri's pretty much 24/7 bodyguard (the irishman dir martin scorsese), then yeah, he doesn't have time to be "some kid's dad." but childcare? you're basically aristocracy again, how you sit on the council, surely there's governesses looking after noble children. or if you want to reinstate the ackermans as a warrior house bound to the crown, levi could have grown up like, frieda reiss' gay older cousin. there were options
besides stifling his own guilt about levi (or guilt toward kuchel), i think he actually... does care about his squad, but realizes it too late, when the caves are fucking falling in! his "everyone's drunk on something" monologue shows traute and the rest of his squad on the panel for "dreams." in the tavern, he tells levi he'll kill anyone to get to his goals, but i think he was, again, too focused on the founding titan to consider this massive squad of what, 30 people? probably because they're supposed to be elite, seasoned MPs, they know what they're getting into, etc. but in this respect, he's kind of like eruri as one: trying to do the erwin thing of "calculated risks" and convincing people to die for his cause with sheer charisma and rhetoric, only to realize just before death he's too soft for that shit. (but i don't think he'd go on levi-style family condolences tour for his squad because he is a coward.) i've compared him to erwin before: he has no real idea of what he would do with the founder if he had it. he just wanted the view from up there, like erwin had no dreams for a future past the basement
i'm not entirely comfortable making this metaphor but his death speech sets it up: kenny is drunk on something more elusive than power. it could be uri, for whom his euphemism is "a grand dream" (jesus christ). i don't think what matters as much as just how plain destructive habit or addiction is, and how disinterested (or afraid) he is to consider another way of living, like rod's "fuck off now" line about finding something else to do. his pattern has been: kill as many MPs as possible for a grudge he doesn't actually care about (where is his sister? dunno); then stay glued to this dying man's side (where is his nephew? who cares); then pursue the founder (he could kill his nephew and several teenagers in the process? who cares). his yapping at levi about hobbies is way more revealing to Me about his character, while the drunkenness monologue is more of a series thesis statement
#this got long and i'm not sure you can distill a neat few-word answer but i won't apologize for producing more bile about him#kenny ackerman#avellana 🐑#my meta#aot meta#snk meta#asks#moot moot

thinking about your beautiful rosquez fake dating au.... is it a public thing? like are they the motogp royal couple here (INSANE time to be in the paddock lol. and oh GOD the breakup) or is it strictly a performance for their friends/family? (also insane for marc specifically. that man cannot lie to alex ever change my mind) like i cant stop thinking about it...
I was thinking performance for their friends and family but with a couple of things to consider [because I never make my life easy, do I]:
my considerations of this kind of depends of the span of the fic and how long they are pretending before going into the actually dating phase [I think Valentino probably freaks out (mostly because of what Marc said) after that first time they sleep together and then putting it short : he ghosts Marc, Marc confronts him and they start hooking up regularly and then there is another big family thing (maybe Christmas if the fic started in the summer) and Valentino forgot he was supposed to fake break up with Marc at some point and anyway, they figure their shit out, the end] [divorce still happens in 2015, see you in 2024 for the reconciliation]
but in the grand scheme of things, they're only doing this to trick Valentino's mom (and like, all the aunts and uncles and everyone that gets involved after the dinner and the baby shower) (oops, things are getting out of hand, it's fine Valentino, it's fine) so that's the only thing they both have in mind when dealing with the secret
now, who was present at the ranch that summer to hear about this? probably the Academy kids that were all in either Moto2 or Moto3 at the time — do they really have to interact with Valentino's family and eventually lie to them? eh, I'd say it's a possibility, and does Valentino trust those teenagers to lie for him? absolutely not, does he trust them to keep their mouth shut about his relationship with Marc if he sat them down and told them it was important? yes, much more (and like, who would believe them in the paddock anyway, him and Marc together? please)
I think Luca can be the big joker/question mark here, on the one hand Valentino would feel shitty making Luca lie to his mom but on the other end Valentino feels shitty lying to Luca, so, 50/50 on that one for now
which means, that in my mind, Marc doesn't even have to bother about his side of the family, I fully agree with you that that man cannot lie to his brother and honestly, he would probably already spill the bean when his stay at the ranch gets extended and Marc asks him why on the phone
technically, could Valentino's mom talk to Marc's parents and fuck things up? I suppose, if I want to make my life annoying, that it could be a possibility, but I don't think Valentino's mom was in the paddock often so I'm just gonna eliminate that issue for this one universe [and like, could she have their number? also yes maybe in a universe that would be annoying to me]
in the grand scheme of things, Marc is agreeing to this 10% to help Valentino and 90% for personal selfish reasons and because in theory, this doesn't have any real flaw/annoyance for him, right? — do I think that he would have felt comfortable lying to his parents? absolutely not, I do think that would be quite interesting to explore in fic but again, making my life easy here [the whole "Valentino can put on a performance act while Marc is an open book to people who know him" of it all]
Now, to come back to that first option, the first thing that came to mind was a forced to come out scenario, especially if it happens because of leaked photos of them hooking up when having hate sex in say, 2016. Way angstier in the beginning but then it's indeed "what an insane time to be in the paddock" in a good way after they've fixed things.
[admittedly I don't always see how going the "yes we're gay but we're in love" way is better PR management than "our private lives should have never been hindered, that's all we have to stay about the matter" but, you know, fic purposes]
I think it could actually bring quite a different aspect to their dynamic in that scenario because if this is 2016, Valentino is 37 (9 titles and could technically retire with a long well-done career) and Marc is 23 (4 titles, still an immense way to go in his career and so much potential to explore).
Of course the whole thing affects Valentino but he honestly believes he can survive that whatever way and ignore the bad people and focus on keeping the same life, he'll be fine. Marc will say that he's not affected by what people say about him (and only on track things matter) but I don't think it's that easy, especially back then, especially after all the backlash he got post-Sepang, and when he puts his own 2015 anger aside, I think Valentino can recognize that as well.
It's Valentino looking at Marc seating next to him in the Yamaha/Honda (whichever) motorhome, watching the way Marc's knee keep bouncing at lightning speed, the lines of his face harsh, his eyes pointed on a far point on the wall. It's Valentino shutting his brain down and going "Yes, we'll do that, where do we start".
#rpf#4693#marc marquez#valentino rossi#fake dating rosquez#oops I created a second AU at the same time my bad.................#this is a very simplified version of things#(as we've seen way too recently with fabio's insta post there is still a long way too go with homophobia and motoGP)#(but as it always is : beauty of fits universes etc etc)#thank you for the ask sorry for the way too long answer#I go into details way too much sometimes#forced coming out au

thinking about 3 and him making friends
I don't know how everyone handles him but 4 is definitely not the only one who cares about him
also I wish they showed it more but Meggy definitely considers 3 a friend
Mario also cares about 3 in his own way
He gets along well with Bob when they both want to
he can be nice to Boopkins
we don't see him with Melony which is a shame, they should touch on that more ugh
but yea like Idk the idea that 3 is isolated in 4's grasp to justify the idea that 4 could be abusive-
Sure, he revolves around 4 but it's not really fully his fault, they're cosmically assigned as a pair so like, the fuck can he do but make the most of it?
Like I'll say, he's definitely not fully integrated in the friendgroup and he still has a lot to work on in that regard but he's far from having only 4 as his friend
I think it's just rather that HE thinks that but like he doesn't even know if he should cuz his stupid ass is constantly scared, got them trust issues
You know who has that problem though but doesn't appear a lot so we don't think about it too much? Kaizo. Bro only really knew Saiko and like, that's all we really know of him besides like being irresponsible as hell
but we didn't really like, see him bounce off with anybody else
3-Meggy bouncing off works, similarly to how honestly 4-Meggy works, it's the competitive shittalking kicking in with both, although we saw less of it, since the 34 dynamic really took over
I bet Kaizo could have a great dynamic with someone other than Saiko but he doesn't get enough screen time for that
anyways I'm still fucked over the whole 34 thing. There's so much of them. I don't know, if their whole gay little thing is gonna forever stay a bit and nothing more, it's- gonna get boring real quick
like you can try and dangle the treat in front of us, the animals, but at some point after waiting for it long enough, we'll grow bored.
But really, it feels like such an odd writing decision to focus on them so much if they're just meant to be a bit and they don't want to progress their relationship further. Like it's not like that's what people prefer. Sure, there's a minority who would want only that forever but then it's just pleasing a tiny crowd which could drive others away. It just feels like it wouldn't worth going through so much trouble with them all for that
Like if they just wanted to keep it a silly bit, they shouldn't. focus on it so much. Like, logically if they put so much emphasis on them and tease the hell out of us with things like the end of wotfi23, forced hold hands, elevator, the god damn titanic scene, squidbob34, Perfect, them bitches always being next to each other, like you'll find them mostly next to each other in most scenes they're present in
like, logically, LOGICALLY, this shit's supposed to become more than a god damn bit. Why would you put so much in a ship, the actual like, majority of your fanbase doesn't really care as much about (see: that one youtube ship popularity poll on another yt channel) and some (although a minority) even despise and call the idea of making it canon the end of the world
I am just, you know, left wondering, what the hell is it for- if not for them to make it fuckin canon at some point?
Honestly, I think I said it before, maybe not publically but I'd find it really fun if wotfi24 somehow drove them to be canon
not like as an arc thing, just a fun thing yknow.
but then again, this pair has been a thing for a really long time now
like it makes you think about like, what would even be grand enough to match them, the anticipation that is if those 2 could ever get together, what could match that?
Or would it become like the Puzzlevision movie where it's like, it's fine but still kind of weak. Like sure, but, eh, I expected it to be more cool and like making the wait worthy
then again it would be really funny if they didn't make them canon on camera, we'd just see kiss them in the background while other characters get focus. Like Idk, maybe some random characters we don't see enough, getting together in 3's cafe and like. In the background we see 4 walk over to the counter and very clearly kiss 3 and then them talking. But like they aren't the focus so imagine people actually missing it LJLKLFFL
imagine being a shipper, missing the scene and then losing your shit when people post screenshots of them kissing and you have to go back and check and lose your shit even more
Idk I'm just rambling at this point

Sabine Wren: The Crossroads
I'm trying very hard not to hyper-fixate on a show that won't be airing for a few more months. But, damn, did this trailer awaken something in me.
I am, like most of you, super excited for this show; I'm excited for Ahsoka, excited for Thrawn (loved him since the OG Timothy Zahn trilogy all those years ago), excited for these new 'Dark Jedi' -
And, most importantly, excited for the return of Sabine Wren.
Actually, I'm the most excited for her and for what the actress, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, will bring to this older incarnation of the beloved Star Wars Rebels character.
Because this is not the Rebels Sabine Wren. This is someone new. And I am very interested in meeting this new Sabine.
Someone who is informed by the history of what happened in Rebels, yes, but who also experienced an entire Galactic Civil War and the repercussions of fighting said war while being so very, very young.
And she lost her family. Kanan, Ezra, and later on, the Purge of Mandalore. It's hard to say if the remaining Ghost Crew stayed together during the events of the OG Trilogy.
So many questions: what was she doing in the past ten or so years? How long has she been on Lothal? Did she ever return to Mandalore and try to save her family, her people? Did her family survive the Purge?
Someone pointed out that it's interesting that Sabine chose to stay on Lothal instead of returning to Mandalore - that she chose the homeplace of someone who was like an adopted sibling to her, rather than her own real flesh and blood home.
I suppose that speaks to the bond between her and Ezra. That she found more comfort returning to his home, rather than hers.
The official trailer released for the Ahsoka show is intriguing in what it shows of Sabine - and, most notably, how static she is. The Sabine Wren I remember from Rebels was dynamic, spunky, and a fighter.
This Sabine Wren is notably less so - we see shots of her basically living at Ezra's watchtower, garbed in his style of clothing, and just . . . waiting, it seems. Waiting for Ezra to come home.
(I'm aware that the extended Ahsoka trailer featured Sabine more in action, with her wielding Ezra's lightsaber against the female Dark Jedi, partaking in a speeder chase, and, later on, putting on her iconic armor. But, even then, I could argue that she's being reactive in most of those scenes as opposed to proactive.)
Rebels takes place shortly before the Galactic Civil War broke out in earnest. Sabine had just suffered two back to back intense personal losses - Kanan and then Ezra - and, despite the victory of dispatching Thrawn into the Unknown Regions for the foreseeable future, she still had a whole WAR to fight.
I can't imagine what it was like to do all that, while so young, and already having sacrificed and lost so much. Not having Ezra by her side throughout the entire war must have hurt unbearably - and the pain of his absence was probably magnified during the peacetime that emerged after the Victory at Endor. Because there wasn't a war to fight anymore, there was peace. Sabine didn't have that to distract her from his absence any longer.
And he wasn't there to enjoy seeing Lothal rise and prosper. Only she was.
Watching Sabine stare at the hologram of Ezra during the Ahsoka trailer hurt. Her expression is simultaneously haunted, sad, and . . . perhaps something more, that we'll hopefully see play out in the show. You know, immediately, that watching that hologram of Ezra is a daily ritual for her.
The actress for Sabine said that she's "wrestling with her demons" during the Ahsoka series. And if that one haunting scene of her staring at Ezra's hologram with a galaxy's worth of pain and longing in her eyes is anything to go by, then I am so ready for all the hurt and feels ready to be thrown our way.
There's a lot to be excited for in the Ahsoka show. But, for me, the success of such a grand epic that they're aiming for rides on how well they handle the Sabine x Ezra relationship. Because for Sabine, yes, the fight against a returned Thrawn is important.
But, there has to be personal stakes for our heroes. And having Ezra's fate intertwined so closely with Thrawn's was a master stroke on Filoni's part.
If Thrawn returns, then Ezra is back with him. And Sabine wants to find Ezra and bring him home. That's what she promised in the Rebels epilogue. I think that is what will matter the most to her.
Maybe that's how Ahsoka persuades her to get back in the fight - that finding Thrawn will mean finding Ezra. And if the Grand Admiral gets in her way . . . well, good luck to him (not really). It's obvious how much Sabine has missed Ezra - and, as we all know, Mandalorians don't take it kindly when someone harms their family.

All right, so let's talk about this Dragon Ball theme park that doesn't exist.
@jasminewave brought this to my attention last week and I mostly got interested in the Saudi Arabia connection. I saw some hype about the park news on Twitter, and people excitedly asking "Where is this?!" I guess they were too blown away by the announcement to actually notice any of the mentions of its location.
I mean, it's not like they're keeping that a secret. This 56-second "trailer" features a newscaster reporting that people are converging in Saudi Arabia in search of the Dragon Balls. Then the narrator says "coming to Saudi Arabia". Even if you don't look up "Qiddiya", the answer's right there in the press release.
There's nothing substantive to the video. A lot of special effects, shots of people interacting with buildings and other attractions based on the Dragon Ball franchise, a kid shoots off a Kamehameha, some women ride a roller coaster, you get the idea. But none of it is real. I mean, the roller coaster was probably real, but they probably filmed actors in a different park. They may plan on building a roller coaster shaped like Shenron, and they may plan on building a replica of the Capsule Corp. building, but it's not what they showed in the video.
That kind of irks me, because I've seen plenty of people get swept up in the hype for this thing. They're excited because they saw this:
And they think it's the coolest thing in the world and it's a real place they can go to right now. Except the Dragon Ball park looks a lot more like this:
This is a still from a video on Qiddiya's YouTube channel, so it's not like I'm talking behind their backs here. The video's from three weeks ago, and it shows a lot of footage of the construction work going on at the site. It's a lot of cuts of construction crews and equipment, with powerful, uplifting music playing in the background. This is what Qiddya looks like in 2024. The Saudi government has big plans to construct a bunch of parks and other attractions on this site, but it'll take years to finish it all.
To put this in perspective, they're also building a Six Flags park in Qiddiya, and that project began construction in 2021. I found a message board called "themeparx.com" where people share photos of resorts and parks that are under construction. And the Six Flags looks a lot like this:
I mean, it's coming along. There's some other photos that show roller coaster tracks and other structures that you can recognize as theme park-related, but you can tell it's nowhere near ready for the public. And this is about two years' worth of construction. It'll take a while before this thing has its grand opening.
And let's be clear: The Six Flags construction started in December of 2021. Six Flags Qiddiya was announced way back in 2016. The Dragon Ball theme park was announced last week. So this construction site we're looking at could very well be a peek into what the Dragon Ball park might look like eight years from now.
Now that I think about it, that makes some sense. Qiddiya's also supposed to have a water park too, and I wondered why they planned all these theme parks for the same location, but they're not building them all simultaneously. By the time the Dragon Ball park is ready to build, the Six Flags will probably be ready to open, along with whatever else is ready, and that gives them time to see how well the whole thing performs. If Qiddiya succeeds, they can move ahead with the next wave of projects. Or if it fails, they can scrap the whole thing, or just stick to the initial set of attractions. I guess my point here is that they might not even build the Dragon Ball park. A lot can happen in a decade, and plans might fall through between now and then.
What I find irritating is how they basically "announced" the thing with a slick video "trailer" that uses images of a park that doesn't actually exist. At best, it's based on a bunch of conceptual artwork and blueprints. At worst, someone just slapped a bunch of stuff together. The park images in the video remind me a lot of the Conton City map in Xenoverse 2. Just a bunch of familiar settings from the anime, all smooshed together into a single area. It wouldn't take much effort for a skilled CGI team to make a similar layout for a hypothetical park. So there's no guarantee that the imagined park in the video has any ties to the park they're actually planning to construct.
I find the whole thing misleading, because the "announcement" and the video are presented like a commercial, promoting the park like it's a real thing you can go to right now and it'll look like it does in the ad. It'll be years before we can see for ourselves how this turns out, so why bother hyping it up at all? Wait until it's done, and then promote it.
I'm not sure what the point is of these slick video packages. Normally, I'd chalk it up as an attempt to showcase the work being done, as a way to reassure investors or taxpayers that their money is being put to good use. Except this whole Saudi Vision 2030 project is being financed by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, which is under the direct control of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the de facto ruler of the country. Maybe they're just making videos to show to him personally, or maybe he wanted the videos made to show off to the rest of the world.
Ultimately, it all boils down to propaganda. They're not announcing a theme park because they want people to visit tomorow. They're announcing a theme park to get people talking about how cool Saudi Arabia is for building the theme park. Like I said last week, watching the video packages WWE ran for Saudi Vision 2030, I got the impression that one of the main goals of Saudi Vision 2030 was to promote Saudi Vision 2030. They just want everyone to know about all this stuff they're building, even while they're still in the middle of making it.
I just find it obnoxious, especially when the video's not even a minute long and shows zero images of an actual park, but you see bottom-feeders like Geekdom101 rushing to "report" on the story. He's got a six minute video up where he presumably "reacts" to the official teaser and talks about how cool this is going to be. Maybe he has ideas on what they should put in the park. It doesn't really matter, because I already know he has nothing to say about it, since he only knows what everyone else knows, which is in the teaser video, which doesn't actually show anything. It's all a mirage until there's an opening date.
And maybe the initial hype has already died down, and I shouldn't be giving this non-story more oxygen than it deserves. But it is a Dragon Ball theme park, and we'll probably hear more about it in the coming years, so maybe it's worth writing this down for posterity. I just kind of wish I could skip ahead to the part where it all goes hilariously wrong, like Willy's Chocolate Factory, or the Heroes of Wrestling PPV. That's what's so frustrating about this. At this moment, the Dragon Ball Park in Qiddiya is probably just a stretch of empty desert. At best, there's some trucks or something on the lot. It's not even a failure yet. It's just... nothing.

The Order of the Stick: Blood Runs in the Family (Rich Burlew) "The Order heads to the Western Continent in search of Girard's Gate, only to get entangled with the Empire of Blood, a tyrannical draconian state--literally, it's ruled by a dragon. But the real power behind the throne is General Tarquin, who turns out to be the bard Elan's dad. Tarquin, being a diabolical mastermind who’s just as genre savvy as Elan, has figured out that ruling openly will only lead to being overthrown, and thus has engineered a grand scheme with his partners to take over the entire continent using their puppet states. He doesn't even mind that Elan wants to overthrow him for being an enslaving dictator--if he wins, he rules as a king, and if he loses, he goes down in history as a LEGEND. Tarquin follows the Order as they try to reach the Gate, using it as a test for his other son Nale--a scheming villain like him, who has continually dissapointed Tarquin. When the Gate is blown up, he meets up with Elan and Nale, finds out that Nale killed his best friend, confirms that Nale wants nothing more from him…and stabs his son dead right in front of Elan because he's an inconvenience. Then he decides to kill Elan's good friend Roy so Elan can be the leader of the party. Tarquin is essentially a railroading DM in charge of a nation. He's an old white guy with self-centered, old-fashioned, and implicitly misogynistic and racist ideas of how the story is "supposed" to go--he's the Big Bad, Elan is the Hero, and they're destined to have a big epic showdown. But Tarquin isn't the main villain, Elan wants to be a support player, and Roy is the leader; so when Tarquin's plans are defied, he does everything in his power to steer things back on the rails by force, to the point of threatening to kill everyone Elan loves and chop off his hand just to properly motivate him."
Oedipus Rex (Sophocles) "The whole point of the tragedy is that no one can fight fate. No matter the lengths everyone goes through to avoid the prophecy, it still comes true."

TIME TO BE AN ACTUAL WRITEBLR FOR ONCE
*cracks knuckles*
I'M HERE TO TALK ABOUT EPISODE 45
This chapter is what I essentially call, "The Beginning of The End".
I remember having so much trouble when I hit the Chapter 40 mark, because this project was only ever meant for 30. There wasn't supposed to be any lieutenant, there wasn't supposed to be a child rescue, there wasn't supposed to be a backstory for aster's family. The whole premise was "assassin couldn't kill the emperor and now he gets take 23. look at this loser lol".
But then the story blossomed into a struggle of reconciling two figures that changed the empire (and everyone's lives) forever. Aster gets to meet the emperor before he became His Target, and he learns that the man didn't even want the throne. Before Emperor Florence Dominique Sibylla came to be, there was only the scribe, Florence. A lapdog sent to document the death of empire's favorite general, whom the people loved more than the current emperor that sits on the throne. Aster gets a behind the scenes tour on what was supposed to be a gruesome tragedy, and learns that in the end, there was no grand cause or some advocate that kickstarted the revolution against the monarchy. The future lies on the hands of idiots who are too caught up in their own shit that they keep pointing fingers on who can make the most impact. There were people that truly cared about making other people's lives better, sure. People who gave a damn about their duty.
But in the end, it's the selfish scribe who gets to write the ending. They get the liar and the cheat, and Aster couldn't bear to accept that this is the man he failed to kill. It's a bit anticlimactic and disappointing.
Then we have Florence, who's willing to lie on record if it means giving his friends a way out of the emperor's schemes. Even if it goes against their principles and everything they stood for, he'd do it. Because apparently he believes that the only truths he can write are the ones where they fail. The rest can be beautiful lies dressed with some dramatic retellings.
Everyone puts each other in a pedestal, and now they're all being knocked down from their high horses. It's a challenge to write because there's no one who puts their characters in a higher pedestal than the writers themselves.
It's also heartbreaking to watch them fight for real! But then I thought, if these two don't exchange actual blows for once, then what was it all for?
Let it be known that the playlist was going WILD as I wrote this, though. I also discovered that I am not a writer who likes slow burn love, but rather, a writer who relishes in building character tension until they blow. It's like shaking a wine bottle and seeing the cork pop off.

I don't know. When someone starts talking about the Republican Party like it has some sort of cohesive ideology I kind of stop listening to them. Seriously, how long has it been since that was true?
It might have stopped being true when George W. Bush was reelected and without a shred of self-doubt announced he was going to privatize Social Security. A moment everyone has forgotten. If it wasn't then, it certainly stopped being true during the Obama administration.
Since Barack Obama left office and left his veto pen behind, Republicans haven't dared to pass much of anything lest they offend some key faction of their party.
When Trump came along and united the different factions in his person, the only thing keeping Republicans from fighting each other was dislike of or outright hatred for Democrats. That was it. I mean it kind of still is, but there is also Trump.
Before Trump, Republicans' answer to their increasingly angry voters was to blame Democrats. Democrats were keeping them from passing the changes the country needed. So they got the House. And the Senate. And the White House. And....
Somehow it was still Democrats' fault.
No matter what Mitch McConnell might want you to believe, it is not Democrats who paralyze Republicans, but their own fear of the electorate. And I suppose that is what frightens me. Republicans are caught between their lies to their enraged base and reality, coming steadily closer to the day when they must choose between admitting they have for at least 20 years promised them things they could never deliver or finally deliver them over the objections of the majority.
And if they choose the latter, there won't be any more middle class tax cuts. Their need for those will vanish with democracy. But at least the budget will be balanced.
The dysfunction of the current Congress, where the majority party cannot pass much of anything without votes of Democrats and can barely agree on a speaker, is not some new thing. This has been going on for years. Their current narrow margin exposed the divisions in the party. It didn't create them.
Consider what Democrats were able to do with smaller margins than Republicans had in 2017. Of course, it was Biden leading the charge and he is one of the most underestimated politicians in the US (though nothing like his vice president). But it's also true that even including Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, Democrats were more ideologically united than Republicans have been in some time.
Yes, Trump passed a tax cut. The easiest thing to pass. Governments around the world would pass a tax cut every five years to grand acclaim if they didn't have to live in the real world, which apparently this generation of Americans does not. Someday we'll reach the point where the US government collects no taxes at all and still finds money to hand to taxpayers on April 15.
Trump especially is not attracting voters to a concrete ideology. The whole idea of trumpism without Trump is specious. Because there is no trumpism. There is only Trump. The miracle-worker whose iconic anti-liberal status elevates him above the party's divisions. The man whose ideology is so muddled and whose convictions are so obscured that he can stand for whatever you want. As long as it isn't what Democrats want.
But if other people want to play the game and talk about Republican ideology, they can go ahead. I will find other things to do.
It's not that I think Republicans are too stupid to see their reality. I don't. I think they are the aging man who can't admit his abilities aren't what they were, the once-wealthy socialite borrowing their way into bankruptcy rather than acknowledge their bank account is empty, the fading movie star desperately grabbing one last headline.
And the press? Their longtime friend who shuts their eyes, telling themself they *must* know what they're doing.
And the rest of us? We're along for the ride.

dc brain rot anon here just to say: have you seen where dick had to go undercover as a male stripper
like that ridiculousness is on par with the time kate decided to be the nyotaimori girl
like why is that your logical obvious conclusion, i love these idiots
Literally why are they like this, I need them to meet so bad they'd be so good at undercover together
Lol I am SUCH a fan of the "they're after me!/they're after you?" dynamic. Dick and Kate both undercover at the same event/location without knowing anything about the other one. They keep running into each other places they're not supposed to be which is VERY SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR which is too bad since they seem pretty nice actually :/
Of course the actual bad guys think they are working together which winds up with both of them tied to chairs in the same room all "????" Bonus points if one or two goons are like, SUPER disappointed that they aren't together, they work so well together and are so cute! The goon and his husband are very invested. An hour later Kate and Dick have convinced the goons to let them go and start a vegan bakery/animal rescue instead of torturing them.
And they're undercover, it's not the done thing to drop your real info and they are professionals so they don't know exactly how to find each other. Like they COULD illegally use certain databases SURE, but they both get kind of busy with superhero stuff
But three months later is the grand opening of the vegan bakery food truck and of course they HAVE to go, they promised the reformed goons, and they're both walking their dogs and they see each other and UGH it's so cute idk it's maybe fall and Dick has the collar of his coat turned up and Kate is wearing a cute hat. Where is an artist who is taking commissions
Anyway extra bonus points if they think the other is a secret agent, not a superhero, so then there's THAT whole reveal which happens because of the dogs

Automatic writing from 12.3.24
Why the onslaught of low-vibration the past few days?
To show you the choices you make, that you continue to make
What choices am I supposed to be making?
To let it go. Stop playing the game. Just observe. Stop feeding it, stop focusing on it
It feels wrong, to do nothing. It feels like I am betraying myself, like I am letting everyone down when I pretend to not see or not notice
These things happening are not real. It will all dissolve. You see it because it is not gone from you yet. It exists as a scenario for you to participate in until you choose not to engage anymore.
But if there is something happening to someone else and they're simply telling me about it, what is that? How is that participating in the game?
You were already feeling negatively toward these person(s). This was just another way to manifest that reality in the way that the HS saw fit. At the end of the day, you have done a lot of work to get to this level (if you want to put it that way), so it's not exhibiting itself as it had (even more low-vibe) prior. This is all that's left.
So I'm supposed to transcend this game, while I'm still in it?
Yes. It doesn't make sense to leave if you're still playing
I don't understand how I have days or weeks of nothingness (being an NPC) and then you come back and announce things like this. It all seems very random. The time before this, you were saying I should manifest the recall and then Source was saying some other stuff that makes everything you're saying or will say, seem irrelevant.
Just energy moving. Changing our minds as we go along. Making things up on the fly. Altering, swapping, maneuvering. The path down the chute (I'm reminded of the fabric chute dream) will always ends in the same destination. It all comes together. It will fit. The seams of this piece sit smoothly with all it's counterparts
Okay, what was the toilet countdown dream about?
The general atmosphere of how it feels to wait. The child's toilet was the first timeline (and you weren't done so you had to find another toilet). The adult toilet is the second timeline (now). The adult toilet had a countdown that was roughly double the time of the child's toilet. ‘Adult' because you have achieved so much before compared to before. (It comes to mind that when I became aware of all this, I waited around one year for the July 2022 TD countdown and now it's been almost two years since then)
Okay, time doesn't mean anything. You trying to get at something here? Because I don't believe it. You said some bullshit about a 'few days', a few days ago. Mate, you're the definition of the boy who cried wolf.
The key point of the dream was that it 'feels like' this much time has passed. In the dream you could not read the actual numbers of the countdown properly. Refer to the sensations. That was the indeed the whole point. Regarding the latter, we simply changed our minds.
Why?
What does it matter if you leave in a few days, a few weeks or months from now? You must see, by now, even if some small part of you resists it still. That you, the totality of you, the 99% of you, does not in fact, care anymore. You are not resisting anymore. You know you don't care anymore. So what is the point of asking this question?
It's that 1% I guess? Don't I owe it to that 1% to ask? I mean, I can uno-reverse what you just said to me. What is the point being made right now, in the grand scheme of things, that it warrants staying? If it doesn't matter when I leave, then why don't I leave now?
We can uno-reverse that uno-reverse and you can ask it again, ad infinitum and we will just say to you, what does it matter to ask, if this has been decided already and this what is happening right now, the reality that you are currently living?
Ok. I'll shut up about it. What was that dream about where AL and I are at the restaurant and our phones do not accurately pin our locations?
You are done. But reality is fluid and you use this to your advantage. It is the appearance of waiting. The server say it'll be another 10 minutes wait but your food is already ready. Your phone shows you are a few suburbs away, but you are already where you are. Done. Your phone may show the location becoming further and further away, when you are wandering away (being an NPC) but when you remember who you are, you know what needs to be done. You know how to stop this appearance that things are not happening. It is a light switch. It is up to you.
Right. How come SM is always appearing in my dreams? In a different way from how AL does. I always feel his energy, I never feel hers. Is it a visitation?
Yes. You are working together.
So he's living a life on an alien planet and I am working with that incarnation, or his HS? I mean we are always working with other people's HS since there is no separation, but I mean from the game perspective.
Yes and yes. You are never here. So what would you be doing if you are never here, and it is not yet the time for resting? Work. You meet with many essences that you knew from this lifetime, and other lifetimes.
How come I heard AD's voice in my dream?
There is no separation. Working on the same things.
Anything else? You gonna stick around for a bit? I mean this back and forth conversation is rarely sustained for this long. I mean I forgot what it felt like to have feelings for a bit there...
Yes. We are always there under the surface but sometimes further away and harder to reach. A bit closer to the surface for now. For what needs to be done, requires conscious choice making. This is what we have decided, for now.

I'm curious, do you view the Joshus Gillespie story the way you wrote it out, or are you looking at it from Jon's perspective? Do you think his survival was unfair?
To answer your question and to respond to several others who were upset:
It was very much written from an imagined perspective about how Jon would feel about the situation and perhaps Joshua himself, I unwisely thought this would be clear from the highly emotional language of the piece but I think a few people read it as if from my point of view, and we're consequently offended.
I think it's neither fair nor unfair that Joshua survived, and that's the beauty of it! One aspect of TMA as a whole that I love is its in depth exploration of just how irrelevant what we deserve really is; we'll get what's coming to us either way. It's one of the reasons I really like the episode, it further emphasises just how much our perception of right and wrong, fair, and deserving don't mean much in the grand scheme of things; Carlos Vittery killed a spider as a child and eventually died for it, Joshua Gillespie took £10,000 from a stranger to do something he thought was illegal and escaped relatively unscathed. None of it matters, because its not about the individual, its about what those (people or fears) that are above us want.
What I was excited to dig into in the analysis of mag 2 is that Joshua didn't do anything in particular that made him deserve to survive, this does not necessarily mean that he deserved to die. I suppose this is a good lesson in how misunderstanding can entirely shape our opinion of a person. Plainly and honestly I don't think there's a quantifiable way to judge who does and doesn't deserve to live, and it's useless to try; but often heightened emotions give us the sense that we know, that we could be that judge.
And more important than any of this they're fictional characters! I would never impose this kind of speculation onto real living people but since neither of them are real I thought it'd be interesting to explore the nuances of the fascinating parallel in the writing, and compare information that we're given early on to plot points that happen later.
This wasn't an attempt to moralise or insult people or behaviors! Simply creating an interesting speculative piece of writing based upon my perceptions of how one character might view another.
#Hopefully this answers your question anon‚ thank you for asking so politely!#Contrary to what I've seen said I do not believe that drug users deserve to die‚ nor do I have anything against the safe use of drugs!#I apologise for the upset that the post caused and hope that this makes sense!#In future please be like anon and simply ask or send me a msg instead of assuming the worst! I'm more than happy to discuss these things#Magpies-analysis

[Note: this was apparently in my Drafts??? I thought I posted it weeks ago, but no??? Apparently not???]
@maski1 replied to your post “THAT'S LOSER TALK!”:
I like the fact that the teachers made such a game tho. They were all so focused on victory that they forgot the most important thing
Yeah, that was definitely the point that the teachers were trying to make, and it undercuts a different recurring element that we've been seeing this whole time: that the students of Cipher Academy are geniuses
Think back to when we learned that each class had been given a password for Glasses Weapons to access Class M. Iroha was impressed that groups of students, not professional codebreakers with years of experience, were able to crack the codes
Along with pretty much everything else we've seen from anyone other than Iroha himself, the students are portrayed as up-and-coming unprecedented talents, like Anonymity being able to solve ten puzzles on sight while also hiding the fact that she was even looking at them
These kids are incredibly gifted at what they do, to the point that it feels like you could just throw them into a real-world scenario and they'd be fine. Even Kogoe suggests doing just that with Iroha pretty early on, and he's easily the worst codebreaker in the series at the moment (not to diminish how good he is, he's just not supposed to be as good as everyone else)
But the thing is, everything we've seen so far has been simulated. None of it has required real-world experience, and none of it has put anyone at any real risk
"How did you guys win - sorry, I mean, how are you not dead?"
Because this isn't a combat scenario. This isn't a warzone. It's a simulation. It's training. It's a game. No matter how seriously you're meant to take it, the truth of the matter is that these are, in the grand scheme of how this world is set up to work, children's games
We've never seen the adults solving puzzles or breaking codes, but do you think that these professionals wouldn't be able to keep up with the likes of Anonymity or Yugata? Even if they're particularly rare talents, do you think they'd be able to outsolve Nikueda at their current level?
The teachers know that for however talented their students are, they're still just children, amateurs at worst and rookies at best. This is why they designed the game to have ambiguous rules, to test the students' abilities to read between the lines, and while most of them figured out that the rules of engagement were extremely flexible, only Iroha was able to truly figure out what the goal was, proving that even the weakest individual soldier can pull out ahead of the strongest

Michael tew
Yeah this tiger has this going no the actual tiger I'll tell you what everything you would come near as you going we got in a fight with the tiger not with each other and pointed that suck it sucks you do not want to get in a fight with a tiger when I'm full size this guy says when he's 10 ft he can take a tiger with no armor I got to see that he said maybe with jeans on. Yeah maybe something around his groin but okay and the tiger would have to be that size a full size a full size tiger wouldn't have no chance and I've never seen anything like that in my life we've seen a lot of people wrestle tigers even Dave when he's big and he says that tiger could have taken me anytime you want it and you heard what you said a little any wrestled with you and said I don't want to wrestle that guy is like a machine and you're downstairs wrestling is saying you got to cut the s*** Dave like you're an old adult he's almost laughing you see a stupid look on his face can you say you're coming back for the wrong thing give it a break what the hell is wrong with you and he tried grabbing you and you're tossing him like clear across the room and he's smacking into stuff finally you hope it out and you take it off and say stupid things and he goes inside cries a little just trying to see if he broke anything any bones it looks up and he says he'll be okay and here is as long as you're there to wrestle and he almost got mad to go what the hell. So it wasn't that funny because it was like 10 minutes long went on for a while and we kept on throwing him down and put him in a lock and tell him I cut the s*** and he would not stop as far as lady. You heard what she said later you said you did that I didn't really help you cuz he beat you I heard it in that voice so that didn't help him at all. So she turned it when you said it helped you 100% and I see what you're saying they can't exactly injure him for real and she said I knew that too he's trying to stop you from doing that but then again I was doing something rude I got your attention so they messed around and he says this what we should be doing and they laughed and they stayed together for quite a while and it's much better so he came up with the products Viagra and messed up a lot of people. Yeah okay interviews that's one for a scary monster movie. I'll tell you what though this song is important and it's about cadmium and it's about Mac and his Grand nephew and they found out a yellow brick road for real they found a road that was made with gold under about 30 miles long and they took it out of course but the max are using it kind of stuff heavy duty and the clans had this network and they were using it too picking back in all the time this is a nightmare okay
