Ok I'm so obsessed with "Dai Nippon Gothic" and Suehiro Maruo's artwork and manga, I ended up getting a lot of inspiration from that to continue Akumu's mistery lore. I'm doing characters for the secret occult club investigating her death. They're called "Mugen no Kagi" (夢幻の鍵) or just "Fantastic Dream Key". I'll post the other members during the week bc I think each one deserves a post only about them, so here's the first one: Gou Kurogane
His backstory may contain some extreme/disturbing topics, be warned:
Gou is a 17 y.o teenager who is part of the secret occult club that investigates the entity Akumu. He is fascinated by death in every way. Coming from a traditional family and a lineage of samurais who served the Shogun, he follows a strict code of honor since he was a child. His family has a strange tradition of preserving the corpses of men who brought honor to the family in a sacred room in the house. His dream is to bring honor and die heroically in the war to have his body mummified alongside his ancestors, keeping the illusion that "war is honorable" due to his family tradition and the nationalist education given by the schools during the Showa period. He constantly has the job of serving food to the corpses and taking care of them as if they were alive.
Gou's father divorced his mother when Gou was very young and lost himself in alcoholism and prostitutes. Because of that he rarely sees his father and was raised most of the time by his older brother, who has a toxic and abusive relationship with him. Gou's brother is an imperial soldier, and constantly puts pressure on him, saying that "he will never bring honor to the family". Even though he gets excellent grades and being very good at swordsmanship, his brother invalidates his success, and nothing ever seems to be enough to please him. Although, Gou greatly admires his brother's position in the army, and dreams of becoming a soldier just like him and is deeply ashamed of his father and has vowed not to end up like him.
Despite all the problems and oddities, he is a very respectful and modest person in public, which makes people see him as someone exemplary in society and they don't even imagine his creepy side.
All this fascination with death made him start looking for more answers in black magic, and so he joined the secret occult club. Out of all entities and Yokai, he has the most interest in vengeful ghosts (like the Yurei type of ghost) and the Gashadokuro (giant skeletons made of the skulls of people who died in the battlefield). He is constantly desecrating warriors' graves and taking their skulls in the hopes of one day summoning a Gashadokuro. He doesn't usually work with curses and tends to focus more on summoning disturbed spirits and finding definitive ways to invoke each one of them, recording everything in his summoning notebook. He believes he can free Akumu's spirit and find out what happened to her.
*I don't condone the japanese imperial army and their actions nor the act of desecrating graves/disturbing the dead. The character is just inserted in this specific moment in history. Take his attitudes and traumas as a critique of how nationalism and extreme traditions affect people's minds in the worst way and how war is romanticized by some people.

THE BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT ( haitani rindou x reader )
╰┈➤ he's insufferable, but he's yours.
pairings — haitani rindou x fem!reader.
warnings — fluff fluff fluff. no other warnings. no proofread lmao
word count — 1.3k
notes — this is for @softbajis (bc it's her birthday!!!) so it's very self indulgent but for her. anyways i hope everyone will enjoy nonetheless. also hal knows how much i love her, but let me say this here again: i wouldn't mind being killed in the 13th century if that meant i'd be able to call you my best friend for all of our lives, haleema. happy birthday!
sometimes he couldn’t understand how he was so lucky.
haitani rindou has helped his brother kill a guy when he was in the tender age of thirteen, helped him raise an empire while being a teenager, saw and even helped with the planning of disgraceful acts while being in tenjiku. he was sure no god would ever look at him with good eyes, never expecting good things to happen in his life — he didn’t deserve them. rindou was a monster in disguise, using a beautiful face to lure both men and women alike to their downfall.
but when he met you, he wished he had been a little more good so he would be able to call you his.
you used to be under shuji’s wing and that used to make his blood burn with nothing but pure and raw hatred, a feeling that rindou wasn’t supposed to feel as one of bonten’s executives. he was supposed to be calm, collected and to think before doing anything else — but he couldn’t help but to feel those irrational feelings whenever he saw you laughing too excitedly to any of hanma’s poor excuse of jokes.
and the worst part was that he thought you weren’t interested in him, that hanma occupied your whole world and blinded you to any other person trying to reach you. but nobody was there to tell him otherwise, and it seemed as if his fellow executive didn’t want to share you with anyone else, so he swallowed his pride and accepted defeat in a battle he didn’t even enter.
but despite his acceptance of defeat, he still had one soldier fighting: haitani ran would never accept seeing his little brother looking so crestfallen, as if he was a puppy and you had kicked him when he tried to approach. rindou never tried, actually, and that was the truth — he didn’t even try to do something, the voices in his head too loud and blinded him to see how your face would lighten up whenever his purple mullet appeared in the room, or how your eyes would always find his figure even thought you were laughing at one of shuji’s jokes.
ran didn’t raise rindou to be a coward.
sharing his first conversation with you, ran discovered the depth of your feelings towards his younger brother and how you and shuji were only best friends. you both had gone through things nobody could think of, staying at each other’s side through thick and thin, and ran could now understand why you always felt so comfortable around hanma’s company and why you worked for him in such a dangerous organization.
but the story of how you became rindou’s woman was embarrassing, at least to him, but endearing at the same time — he would never forget how you patched him up after a failed mission, or the glint of worry in your eyes when he winced and gasped when you put pressure on his gun’s injuries. he was supposed to be protecting you, being appointed by mikey as your “bodyguard” due to the death threats you were receiving from bonten’s enemies, and not making you worry. he felt like a little kid watching as how your eyes teared up, hands aching to hold your face and whisper how much it pained him to see the woman he loved crying for him.
but he couldn’t. you had become his best friend in the weeks he spent protecting you, and he couldn’t ruin the purest thing he had in his life. every relationship he had was tainted with guns, drugs or meaningless accords, but not you — you and rindou had grown closer without any second intentions, just the raw need of having someone to make you laugh and forget about the world’s problems for a little while. and he couldn’t ruin that with useless feelings, feelings that would make him weak and prone to do reckless things just to see a smile on your face.
“i love you.” you whispered when you were finished, body between his legs and hands resting on his shoulders. “stop hurting yourself, rin. if not for your well-being, then for mine.”
too stunned to speak, he watched as you continued. “it doesn’t matter if you don’t feel the same, i doubt you ever will. but stop this ache on my chest whenever you are away, and promise me you’ll stay out of harm’s way.” you poured such vulnerable words as if they were nothing, and rindou felt drawn to them — he wasn’t used to being vulnerable, his own vulnerability repulsing him to the point of throwing up, but yours was beautiful. the way your eyes shone with tears glossing them, the way your words pierced his heart but at the same time healed the wounds.
the words failed him but, before you could get away from his presence and probably ask mikey to change your bodyguard, he brought your body closer to his, lips ghosting your own — he was afraid to kiss you, afraid that the feeling of his lips on yours would make you wake up and noticed that, somehow, your feelings weren’t true and you were truly in love with hanma. but you only pressed them hard against his, and he could feel the taste of your strawberry chapstick and tears on your lips.
from now on, you two became inseparable. and he couldn’t believe how lucky he was, how good life was being to him. whenever you smiled at him, or kissed him goodbye before he left for a mission, or said how handsome and how much you loved him during random times of the times, he was afraid it would be the last time and lady destiny was going to notice how good he was being to such a scarred man.
however, you proved him wrong, staying at his side through everything, even though he was being stubborn and said hurtful things for you. but he tried to be better for you every day, tried to control his tongue and be a better human being — and he noticed how his influence changed you, too, making you more relaxed and ready to experience new things without the fear of being judged. you were already perfect without him, an angel in disguise, but he loved to see how bolder you became after dating him.
there was nothing more arousing than to see you bite back whenever one of the guys tried to tease you.
“what are you thinking, rin-rin?” you asked, head resting on his bare shoulder and fingers tracing with the most delicacy his bonten tattoo. you noticed how quiet he became while listening to the things you did with your friends for your birthday. you giggled when he playfully rolled his eyes at the silly nickname you gave him before you two were dating, nuzzling your face on his skin.
“just how lucky i am.” he decided not to lie, as he wanted you to be sure how much he loved you. he wasn’t the best with words and actions, like ran was, and sometimes he was afraid that you didn’t know how important you were to him. “how lucky i am to have you in life.”
you giggled once more, and rindou knew your cheeks were red because of his words. “you’re the best birthday gift i ever had, you know it, right?” ran had joked that rindou should’ve put a ribbon on his hair and give himself as your birthday gift, instead of the brazilian amethyst nickname he gave you — something you were eyeing for some time now, and he bought it before you could say how beautiful he was before the second time.
“i thought it was the necklace i gave you.” he joked and snorted when you playfully hit his chest and pouted. “you said it this morning!”
“you’re insufferable.” you tried to turn around on his hold, but rindou held you even tighter, arms around your waist to keep exactly where you were.
“but you love me for it.”
“.... yes.”

ugh!!! different anon but i just read your thoughts about everything r is thinking and feeling and i canttttt, and it also hurts bc from s perspective, the feelings and developments he thought they had for so long were a ruse!! so on both sides we have them fighting their feelings and denying the reality of their connection :(((
one follow up question i have is, how does r (and really the whole gang) reconcile this initial distrust and subsequent shock (that s is Becoming Good) with the existence of reg? bc like on the one hand yes s represents so much evil shit to them, has done so much evil shit, but his redeemed brother is right there as well. so i’m curious about how these characters marry those feelings
yeah <3 i mean 2 clarify it's not so much that r thought s was like. actively tricking him like he believes what s was feeling was real too it's just that s knew before they kissed etc. that he was going 2 be obliviating himself so the idea that those feelings could become something was, at that point, a lie, and that's where r feels betrayed.
and that's an interesting question!! re: reg (and re: s) all 3 of them have v different perspectives. like for james reg chose on his own 2 betray voldemort, and even tho reg kinda dismisses the idea that he was rebelling 4 some noble reason etc james still like...kinda gives him that credit & sees him as someone who organically came 2 this position that was at least somewhat aligned w the values & goals of the order, whereas s did not do that; hence, james cuts him way less slack. s was also a lot more active in the d.e. & actively harming order members + allies in ways that reg was not, which also makes james like him less to begin with. but james has also grown up pretty separated from broader society, so even tho the d.e. have always been his enemies, he hasn't been like...quite as subjected 2 their reign in his daily life the same way r has, and bc james has been raised as like a soldier in a war he views voldemort as his ultimate enemy & the d.e. as like enemy soldiers, so there's overall less of like...this personal hatred 4 them as individuals. which makes it easier 4 him 2 accept that people like reg & s can grow & change if they demonstrate they're willing 2 side w the order + work towards order goals.
for lily a lot of this is similar 2 james--she views reg as having made his own decision 2 leave the d.e. + s as being forced, so trusts him less 2 begin with, etc. but lily, unlike james, has spent even less time actually like...directly interacting w d.e. like she's spent most of her time in order bases + hq working behind the scenes on potions etc, so she's even further removed from the personal aspect of all this & has an easier time accepting that both s + reg can become good people (tho at first she dislikes reg bc james is tutoring him + flirting w him lmao). lily also sees a lot more gray area than james, who tends 2 view the world in black & white terms (if you're fighting for the d.e. ur bad, if you're fighting for the order ur good, etc). for lily, everyone has the capacity 4 both good & evil, and a person's life is largely shaped by conditions outside their control, so her worldview + relative distance from the whole conflict makes it easier for her 2 accept that reg + s can change.
but remus has grown up as a werewolf under voldemort's government for most of his life, not in order bases, and so he has a very acute sense of the ways in which individuals make up + perpetuate these systems of violence, and is not particularly forgiving towards them even if he recognizes that yes, people can change and yes, that's probably a good thing--it doesn't undo the hurt they've done and it doesn't mean he's going to forgive them. this is why r + reg aren't friends, even tho lily + james are friends w both of them; r didn't really like reg from the start & basically just avoided him as much as he could, which wasn't hard bc he was out doing work 4 the order + reg was working in potions labs w lily. so even tho r could recognize that like, ok i guess it's good we got a reformed d.e. working 4 us, he never had 2 go through like a personal struggle of actually feeling friendly towards the guy & basically just kept disliking him lol. so not only does he already hold these grudges (understandably!), he also doesn't think of evil in the same way as the others--whereas james views voldemort, the figurehead of this entire system, as the Ultimate Evil, and lily can understand how people born into these violent systems would perpetuate them but thinks that's usually more from being misguided than ill intent, remus views this as a structural issue in which people like s, who (from r's pov when they first meet) think of themselves as generally 'good' people, still justify their role in these systems of violence because it benefits them, which is much more insidious and infuriating than someone like voldemort, who is just pretty straightforwardly a Bad Guy. and that's what i mean when i say r views s of representative of like, everything wrong w society--bc the vast majority of people in society are like s, who view themselves as good people and blame all (or at least most of) the bad on figureheads like voldemort without recognizing their own role in structural violence. and his whole relationship w s & feelings for him just make it way more difficult 4 him to watch s change + grow & to accept that that's possible, even though, theoretically, he should want it 2 be possible, bc there's this more personal level of pain...someone who views themself as a good person hurts u & u want 2 go "hey!! ur not a good fucking person!!" but then they actually become a good person (or at least a better one) so then what do u do w that hurt, y'know?
anyway. this got v long but yeah have actually spent quite a bit of time thinking about these 3 characters & how their different worldviews + experiences shape their attitudes towards the black brothers!

Soldier boy
Avatar twow au
(Ok yes I have to do my other fandoms but I couldn’t get this out of my head sooooo here we are again(ps anyone waiting for brother mine to update I’m sorry I’m trying😭 just can’t seem to write the chapter! But fear not bc I will!…..eventually)
(Also this is movie universal & Spider is the only human child/human born on Pandora bc plot)
•••
So the idea is that they didn’t manage to send all the humans back to earth because some of them escaped and started their own building thing, and these are basically the RDA and they took Spider with them.
So bridgehead develops a little slower and they’re constantly having mini battles with the Navi but they don’t really become a big problem until the movie time.
So no one in the RDA really wanted to raise Spider, and they were going to dispose of him. Then they had the idea of,
Oh wait a minute, this is Quaritches kid! We can use that!
So they start training him to become the best little human soldier from the minute he can walk. The way they see it, they can train him to be perfectly adapted to survive Pandora and have him be loyal to them. Besides if it doesn’t work they can use him as insurance with Quaritch when they bring him back.
So Spider grows up, learns how to fight (clean & dirty).
Becomes a fabulous climber and can move almost silently thus earning his nickname/ code name
Has amazing aim, both natural and because of years of forced practice.
Can hold his breath longer than most people thanks to years of training him to survive incase his mask breaks.
Maybe he can speak Navi pretty well thanks to them wanting someone to be able to understand the natives so they have him watch old science logs.
He pretty smart but most ppl think he’s dumb due to his lack of most formal education.
And despite how much they try to make him into an emotionless machine, it doesn’t work, like really doesn’t work. He’s a big softy who loves to joke around. He’s kind of learned to shut it down when he’s training bc it will get him into trouble, but sometimes he can’t help but laugh his ass off.
He learns a lot from watching the logs, he’s watched the same logs of Grace and Norm and Jake over and over again, supposedly to study them and learn how to defeat the enemy. But he ends up being fascinated by all the things he learns, starts become more interested in the natural ways of Pandora (bc the RDA never bothered to assume that he wouldn’t just automatically be loyal so they didn’t really try)
Of course from the minute he was old enough to wear a mask they had him do survival training in the forest.
At first it was just day time, then it became nighttime. Eventually they stared leaving him to survived. Then they would take him somewhere and have him find his way back before he was out of oxygen.
Spider learns to love these times, to feel at peace in the forest, of course he becomes the an even better climber, learns to navigate through the trees almost silently.
Then the Recoms are brought back and it’s Spider who helps them through the forest.
When they catch the sully children spider feels bad for Tuk as she looks so little and scared. The big softy in him can’t take that.
When Neytiri attacks, Spider helps free Tuk secretly, maybe he cuts her hands free, maybe he accidentally drops his knife within her reach.
When all hell breaks lose Spider makes a run for it, still ends up falling from an branch and passing out, BUT, it’s Jake who takes him instead of Quaritch
So this time is Jake trying to get info about the RDA from Spider, not harshly bc Jake can’t bring himself to really hurt the kid.
When the Sullys run they have to take spider (who’s already starting to like them) with just to make sure the RDA can’t find him and get all the information(no matter how little) he has about where they are, also that the RDA just think he’s dead and not that the sullys have a weapon to use against them.
Spider gets begrudgingly accepted my the Metkayina thanks to be able to hold his breath, without his mask, and because he’s a pretty good fighter thanks to his training
(Eywa also May have had some influence bc he’s still her special little human)
The just loads of adapting & realising that Spider didn’t have a childhood and doesn’t know how to not act like a soldier for the most part.
Every adult seems to not be okay with this at all because children are gifts from the great mother!!
So Soldier boy Spider gets his family & a fresh start, Jake gets a human son, and Neytiri……….Neytiri gets a headache
•••
So yeah that’s an idea I’ve had! Now that it’s out I can finally add more to my other stuff!
I actually really like this idea so I might do something more with it? Let me know if that would be something you’d like!
My asks are open and you are welcome to ask anything about this cuz I love other ppls ideas/thoughts
As always, I hope you enjoyed ❤️

do you think another reason the chuunin exams were created (besides filtering out the "untalented" nin & introducing them to the life of a shinobi) was to create a trauma-bond between the teammates that survived/passed it? it's no secret that kid's lives or their innocence were never really valued in Konoha (or anywhere else for that matter), so I wouldn't be too surprised to find out this was done to strengthen the bond between teammates & better their teamwork/spirit
also, do you think the chuunin exams were especially traumatic during the sannin era, especially bc they were 6 (or a few years older but defo younger than naruto's gen) ??? and even if it wasn't the chuunin exams goal to create a traumabond, it certainly did for the sannin?
honestly, no. it's possible that i'm just the sort of person who tends to assume the best of people, especially fictional ones, but it's also true that i just tend to find fucked up shit more interesting when it was done with good intentions. i'm only into cartoonishly heinous motivations when they're applied to individuals rather than systems, i guess.
the thing you need to keep in mind concerning my view of the naruto universe is that literally every single character is deeply traumatized, whether they're aware of that or not. for starters, the vast majority of characters were raised to be child soldiers in a world where that's considered normal. our modern view of the 18-21 age group as the youngest adults doesn't apply there - legally, these people are becoming adults at ages as young as twelve (and that's the improved version - a lot of the older cast members have been shinobi since as young as five or six).
even the characters who never became ninja have all been through some pretty serious trauma. ayame and teuchi lived through the kyuubi attack, tazuna and his family had to deal with the whole gatou situation, and so on. no one in this world is remotely okay by our standards. but what that means is that being a neurotic mess is the norm. for the whole. entire. world.
a world based on structures so fucked up is going to be full of thoughts that to us seem entirely contradictory - how can konoha say it cares for its citizens when of the five most famous genin-by-six, the most functional is jiraiya (kakashi is a mess, tsunade is drinking and gambling away her problems, orochimaru is out there inventing to moral event horizons to cross, and itachi murdered his whole family and tortured his little brother about it)? but - and this is something that is understandably hard for people to wrap their heads around - we're shown things from people like the sandaime's point of view. we know - for a fact - that hiruzen cares deeply about his village and its citizens, and that most of the people he was personally involved in fucking up are the ones he - genuinely - cared for the most.
the second thing you need to be aware of is that the rankings in the naruto world are based on real life ninja ranks - jounin, chuunin, and genin are all real world terms that were modified to fit the world of naruto. whether irl ninja could move up in the ranks or not is something i don't know, but given that naruto is a shounen, it makes sense for the protagonist to have a clearcut explanation of the steps he needs to take to achieve his goal (ninja president) laid out early on, and that he and his friends be given the opportunity to move through the ranks throughout the course of the story (although, as many people have pointed out, naruto stayed a genin pretty much the whole time)
from an irl perspective, the chuunin exams are a way to introduce other characters, give the main trio a chance to level up, and also have a tournament arc for funsies. in-universe, the purpose is for genin to get a chance (or six chances kabuto) to become chuunin, and to strengthen ties with other villages via a show of trust - we're showing you our next generation. this is incentive to maybe not go to war again pretty please heart emoji poop emoji.
the thing is, life and innocence are valued in konoha, and likely the other villages as well, though we don't see it as much. but it's such a twisted, foreign concept to us real world non child soldiers that it doesn't seem like it (more accurately, it's valued by the people but not the system, and the people in charge of the system ignore that bc unfortunately for the entire naruto universe sakura didn't get around to inventing mental health until after the fourth war ended)
danzou and hiruzen exemplify this perfectly imo. hiruzen is full of ideals and beliefs and trust, and bc of that isn't able to see the system for what it is and can never fully understand why all of his good intentions keep churning out shitshows. on the other end of the spectrum, danzou is very aware of the world he lives in, possibly more than almost any other character. but bc of that he views the nature of humans as a flaw for shinobi to overcome - ninja are tools for the good of the village, and can and will be discarded just as easily. from a brutally practical viewpoint, danzou and hiruzen were probably genuinely extremely effective at keeping konoha together. it's just that how that worked out and how they did it is morally abhorrent to the majority of people (including hiruzen himself)
lastly, the concept of trauma as we view it not only doesn't but honestly can't exist in the world of naruto. say someone has a jutsu that allows them to create a brain scan similar to something we can do irl. the effects of mental illness on an adult brain wouldn't register as anything abnormal bc that's what everyone's looks like. you aren't having a "panic attack" or a "trauma response" or a "flashback", you're just going through the same shit everyone else is. that's all par for the course, it's just what life is like. that's how the world of naruto sees it, at least.
so where we see "children going through horrific events together and bonding bc they have no choice", the residents of narutolandia see "tuesday". so no, i don't think the chuunin exams were formed with the intent of gluing people to each other via trauma - they don't need to be. that's what life is for.
concerning the sannin, i'm not sure they ever took the chuunin exams. i honestly don't even know if the chuunin exams would've been a thing yet - the earliest one we know of is the one kakashi and his team were at, which was konoha-only and thus already fairly different from the one naruto went through. the sannin lived through all of the first three ninja wars, and though they probably didn't fight in the first one, they likely became genin just as it ended (otherwise i'm not sure how sarutobi would've had time to teach them...?). orochimaru's parents were already dead by the time he became a genin, so it's not hard to imagine they died in the first war. the sannin are actually relatively lucky - the second world war didn't happen until they were in their 20s, so they got a good two decades of not being at war (this is the longest space of time between the wars, followed by the time between the third and fourth wars (~15 years) and then the time between the second and third wars (less than 1 year)).
actually, thinking about it now, i think it's possible that spend early pre-ninja childhood with their village at war, then spending the rest of their youths in (relative) peace, and then finally getting tossed right back into shitshow two electric boogaloo might've been why they ended up more fucked up than most. so i guess the solution really was the moon coma after all
tldr: madara was right. not where i thought i was going with this but it does seem to be where we ended up
#naruto#naruto shippuden#meta#long post#ayame#teuchi#tazuna#gatou#jiraiya#hatake kakashi#senju tsunade#orochimaru#uchiha itachi#sarutobi hiruzen#uzumaki naruto#yakushi kabuto#haruno sakura#shimura danzou#tbh i find it annoying when people try to make the sandaime actively antagonistic outside of memes#like no you fools he's a piece of shit bc he's nice. he literally cared so much he fucked up everything#honorary uchiha imo#(i'm joking don't kill me)#uchiha madara#naruto is a hilarious series really#everything sucks forever and if you try to fix it you will only make everything worse and then die#just like real life

little known fact (I have literally only ever yapped abt this to 5 people) but ever since I watched the donghua of cinderella chef last year, I've been brainstorming a crossover AU with apothecary diaries, yona of the dawn and snow white with the red hair.
(will it ever get written? ONLY GOD KNOWS but I'm dumping my brainrot here anyway)
the cast of characters:
yaoyao and chunyu (cinderella chef)
maomao and jinshi (apothecary diaries)
shirayuki and obi (snow white with the red hair)
yona and hak (yona of the dawn)
other characters who appear in this AU (even if I haven't worked out what they do yet), bc you should not separate them ever: ryuu (AnS), and the happy hungry bunch (YotD)
the team dynamics:
in my HC shirayuki is the oldest of the group and seems (SEEMS) to be the most level-headed, while maomao and yaoyao are definitely evenly matched in levels of unhinged. yaoyao is canonically around 18-19, so she's most likely the second oldest
yona is the youngest at 16. however, she is also the only one of the group with a kill count. naturally the older girls are somewhat concerned but they're supportive anyway, and maomao later on offers to help make poison for yona's arrows. (it's her way of showing friendship)
yaoyao is the only one of them who's ACTUALLY married, and so she probably assumes that the other girls are also married to their respective tall, dark, handsome companions. shirayuki's avoiding eye contact, yona is flustered, and maomao... is not amused.
yaoyao and maomao are the kitchen powerhouse duo. if they combine their forces with yoon, then they become truly unstoppable
yona and shirayuki are definitely mistaken for the other girl by multiple people, due to their red hair (and dark-haired bodyguards/love interests). this could lead to a case of mistaken identity where shirayuki gets chased by soldiers bc they mistook her for yona, who's a fugitive
when the four girls get absolutely caught up in brainstorming a plan, the four guys have no choice but to trail after them and wait it out till they're done. obi is the most used to this behaviour from shirayuki while she works so he's already accustomed to it, and hak knows yona well enough to know that she'll explain it to him after, but chunyu and jinshi are still somewhat baffled. sucks to be them lol
like shirayuki, obi is the oldest out of the four guys and he takes care of them in his own way. big brother obi to the rescue!!!!!
the worldbuilding:
I will not lie, I only thought of this AU bc I wanted to put yaoyao and maomao together and have their nicknames be xiaoyao and xiaomao. but like everything else I start bc of something ridiculous, I ended up thinking way too much abt it so here's what I got so far
geographically speaking obiyuki would be coming from the west (AnS is set in a European-styled setting), while maomao and yaoyao would technically be in the same area. if we're going off of the assumption that yotd is set in pseudo-korea, then the kingdom of kouka would probably an ocean away from the empire of Li.
given the settings, it's not uncommon for foreigners to pass through Li, and since obiyuki canonically travel around n stuff they would probably pass through Li at least once
in terms of timeline, I'm very, VERY ROUGHLY guesstimating that cinderella chef and yotd were set in around the same time period (western jin dynasty in China, and the three kingdoms period in Korea).
emphasis on the rough guesstimate bc the show never explicitly mentions at what point in the past she's sent to, so I'm making do with what I can gather from the style of clothing and the architecture used in the setting. but I can only do so much since the show took quite the artistic liberty with historical events and other things like that
on the other hand, the apothecary diaries APPEARS to be set in 15th century China, but it's also not confirmed either so yes. this is fine. [strained smile]
so yeah! that's all I got for now JSJSJFHG I really want to write this AU but first I've got to pin down the dates and historical time periods bc my brain is weird like that. hope you enjoyed 🫶🏼
#snow white with the red hair#akagami no shirayukihime#akagami no shirayuki#obiyuki#the apothecary diaries#apothecary diaries#kusuriya no hitorigoto#jinmao#cinderella chef#adorable food goddess#chunyao#chunyu x yaoyao#yona of the dawn#akatsuki no yona#hakyona#not hakyona and obiyuki having basically the same poses LOL#ngl I don't like chunyu too much w yaoyao and that's why we're fixing him in this AU#giving him the character development he DESERVES#he will grovel

sweet home season 3 somehow ended even worse than i expected
this has literally been the worst experience i've ever had watching a tv show i'm so mad
season 1 was SO good. i loved it so much and then seasons 2 and 3 both just became a completely different show that had none of the meaning or feeling that season 1 did
season 1 made it seem like it was setting up so many questions about what it means to be a monster, why people were becoming monsters, whether or not they were still human inside and if they deserved to live. and then it was just like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ whatever. monster tentacle slap contest
cha hyunsu was INTERESTING in season 1. he was the ultimate poor little meow meow and his monster half was ALSO interesting and weird and hot. and then he just disappeared for most of season 2 and then when he came back he was boring and blue-eyed and if there was an explanation of why the monster changed i missed it. literally what happened to this
this guy fucking sucks
he was literally useless all of season 2 and 3. he didn't do anything. but it wasn't just him, it was everyone and everything. nothing that happened had any impact on the plot at all. i think. what was the plot here
we stopped talking about what being a monster means. monsters stopped being unique. monsters turn into neohumans and the response is just "oh. okay" eunyu spends two seasons looking for eunhyuk and when she finds the emotionless shell of her brother that's the end of that. he's just going to be one of the neohumans that ? protect the humans from the monsters for some reason? and nobody ever explains why people started turning into monsters in the first place or what a neohuman actually is. anyway
there were a handful of interesting things that happened with the too many characters they introduced in season 2, especially at the stadium. but they were short-lived and then the characters just kept hanging on and taking up time for no reason and most of them had no personality at all. like why was so much time devoted to the soldiers and the priest and all of those people? it was like they were relying on these characters to keep the show going but they had no substance and didn't even matter. if the show was going to turn out like this anyway they could have AT LEAST consolidated season 2 and 3. so much of it was unnecessary and dragged out. like how was sergeant tak symptomatic for a whole season before becoming a monster
and also re: nothing that happens matters or means anything, the whole storyline of yikyung becoming a monster should have been good. she was the perfect character to learn this lesson about monsters still being human and maybe you shouldn't just be killing all of them BECAUSE of sangwon and her daughter. but she turns into a monster and hyunsu just turns her back and then she dies. like oh okay never mind nobody has learned anything
and sorry i didn't like lee jinwook as the bad guy either. he was good as sangwook but as the bad guy (sangwon? it seems weird to call him that) he was boring. not to be a sungcheol stan but sungcheol was SO good bc he was insane. there's something wrong with this guy
no gif but new sangwook has lost his slime man powers and is losing a custody battle with his ex wife. he sucks. and THEN it's like they get to this ultimate battle between him, hyunsu, and eunhyuk, and the writers don't know what to do, so they're like ummm sangwook was in there the whole time and he's going to sacrifice himself to kill slime man even though there was never any indication that sangwook was still in there (why would he be??? wasn't he already dead when slime man took over his body?). woooo problem solved. and then it's like the apocalypse is over all of a sudden. nothing ass ending
all this and there is no pacing whatsoever. the action/tension is constant. there is no time to breathe and i think that's part of why it was so confusing - you can't gather your thoughts about what just happened bc something else is already happening. and extremely little comic relief. i think they were trying with monster hyunsu but he wasn't funny, he was just annoying
it's like. idk it's just a tv show but it feels insulting to be served this. sweet home was important to me and i loved it a lot and then they killed it and farded and shidded on it. and now i'm scared about hellbound season 2 bc it has a lot of similarities to sweet home and especially with the casting change and the obvious potential for a big tonal shift................ netflix please please please don't do what you did to sweet home to hellbound i really will start killing
in fact why don't we stop making "korean dramas" with multiple seasons like this. we had a good thing going for a LONG TIME where dramas almost never had more than one season because the story was finished. this is why i don't watch much american tv bc they have half an idea and then start filming and make it up as they go until the show gets canceled and there's no resolution. don't do this to korean dramas please
"why don't you just stop watching these netflix dramas then" why don't you shut up. huh
i'm probably not done talking about this but whatever i'm going to go watch troll factory

U mentioned something about mjs family issues, please elaborate on that. She does come from a military family when can be pretty strict.
Idk if u are a dan and familiar with wonyoung but many dives belive that she is a divorced parent child bcs of her and her sisters comments and I thought mj was one too 🤔
I'm sure she grew up with a lot of love but I think her father wasn't around much due to being a soldier rather than her parents being divorced and her mom is the more strict one. her dad spoiled her whenever he went back home as she is his only daughter and I'm so sure her mom was loving too its just her being this drawn to older figures in her life and being timid to the point not being able tell bus drivers when she wants to get off that makes me think thoughts. I remember when mj said something like one day she went to school on weekend because she thought it was monday and her alarm didn't ring and her mom didn't stop her despite knowing that. it seems like her mom is a realistic person like her saying 'if you want to marry that actor you need to become a celebrity' to an elementary school student who was just babbling or her reaction to mj saying she wants to be an idol being 'its too late now' most interesting thing to me tho the story she told about both mj and her brother not eating much at home and mj starting to eat a lot after being a trainee aand her sleeping over at her friends constantly rather than being at home.
obviously her parents are very loving but I wonder what made her develop this much anxiety and made her seek out older ppl. also with her age regressing there could be something traumatic happened in her childhood but I dont want to assume too much stuff based on almost nothing.

Leaving it up to Tumblr to choose my next comic chronology in like... 2 months when I'm free of green lantern (2 months is not very generous I fear)
Reasoning under the cut :3 (very long)
Duke- pretty short (less than 200 issues), I really like his character from what I've seen of him. I think it will also be hell (as is the nature of most batman adjacent chronologies) but it'll be worth it... Nice and short one and also swag character
Jefferson- 1. Black lightning is very fun early on and 2. I've already made the spreadsheet so I just have to read it. He's just like... A very cool character and I like him a lot so far. I just am gods scaredest soldier with long chronos (which his isn't too bad but it's ALSO batman adjacent and those are so scary)
Barbara - my best friend Babs but also if I have to reread the killing joke I AM killing Alan Moore ok. In theory I love her SOOOO much. In practice I think the fact I'm having to keep a "how bad is the disability rep" counter next to each issue says a lot. Unfortunately. Also already made this spreadsheet but I think it would be a very bad and good time.
Clint- again in theory would be fun. He seems right up my alley but alas if I have to see Tony Stark I do fly into a blind rage. And unfortunately I think he appears a lot... And also unfortunately I think I would suffer due to blonde man disorder ok (as I always do)
Silhouette+Aaron- package deal bc they're siblings. I've already started this one and then stopped because whoever is writing the early stuff SHOULD go to hell for what they're doing. For those unfamiliar, silhouette is one of the only heroes I've ever seen using forearm crutches (pretty awesome) and her power is that she can kind of travel via shadow iirc? Which would be really cool if they didn't like... Make her lose all her clothes and mobility aids when she's doing this. Which is why I quit. But she's very very cool minus that (and in my mind... I know she's written better later on) and her brother is his own can of worms (in... Definitely a way). In theory tho I rly gotta get through their stuff
Theodore - first off: I am a FIEND for marvel 70s horror comics. Second off: he is better than swamp thing. Third off: his big red eyes. But to be serious though like .. the Steve Gerber and Gerry Conway era of man thing is SO good and like .. political in an interesting way. I just need motivation to get around to it. Also he's cutesy ok!!!
Jason Blood- another consequence of the 70s horror era fan but this guy has CRAZY lore. He's a medieval knight who got possessed by a demon thanks to Merlin and then he's just lived through the centuries and become an occult guy. Reasons why I stopped this one - sometimes old horror comics are bad and horrible. And also a like 60 issue Garth Ennis written series. But I do really wanna finish his stuff bc he's like .. DC's version of Hellstrom (which. Genuinely awesome character, if you're interested in older horror comics def check his original run out <- my plug for my silly husband hellstrom who sucks so much or whatever. He's rly good tho seriously)
Jennifer - I've already made her spreadsheet and started it but the writers are soooo fucking bad most of the time. It's actually horrific. Pros for her- pretty good character when written well (her hellcat series stuff was REALLY nice for me. But I'll always hype up patsy walker aka hellcat at any chance) cons for her- the misogyny ... And my reward for finishing it is watching the she hulk show. So take that as you will
Dracula- I started his stuff bc I was PROMISED Gerry Conway (who is like.. one of my top 5 writers. He does amazing old horror comics and made a bunch of very cool characters). And then he left like 2 issues in and it went downhill. Some of the same authors who did some of the good (other marvel vampire who is redacted for my own safety ok) issues did stuff for drac. In theory this would be silly campy 70s horror comics fun. In practice oh my god I am gaining new authors to hate so bad...
#twist rambles#comics posting#<- my tag for well... posting comics... bc i need one lol#me outting my scary comic taste...#sorry this is so long... if anyone reads my reasoning im so sorry bc thats like... 20 years long#sorry my tbr list is so long and scaryyyyy

Random facts about my WoF OCs because I want to do something instead of sleeping bcs it's full moon (it's 2¹⁴ and I haven't gone to sleep before 3am for past fortnight) ((I'm pulling Icicle))
- There are four protagonists, but only one male - a Sandwing Gerbil. In some old versions there were even eight females in the gang and then only him. I probably did it like this subconciously because in those times my friendgroup had only 1 boy for 7 girls XD
- Other than that, we have a Skywing Reddish, Icewing Avalanche and Seawing Depths.
- Avalanche spent all her life training in army and then becoming a fearless deadly soldier (and also one's leader deputy). She's incredibly powerful and weirdly good at stealth and assasin-like work. I, as well as others, assume it's because of her personality. All she did was train to fight in the Icewing kingdom and guard the lands with her squad, often getting into quarrels with sandwings or other dragons trying to traspass to their territory.
- She is very artistic-coded, as well as the rest of the squad - expect for Reddish, an ADHD epitome and a menace, and Depths, being made into that one neurotypical of the group who doesn't get them at all - often way dumber, blunter and duller than the autistics of the group, in the end.
After all, it's Depths.
- Reddish has PTSD from when she fled the palace she grew in. It was in a hurry and she still feels like she did something horribly wrong every time she recalls it.
- Gerbil can play drums and ukulele. He had basically the Rapunzel childhood, expect he was in charge from young age and was able to go outside, there just wasn't anything interesting - just sand, and as a true introvert, Gerbil quickly learned he'd rather spent time alone, sightseeing, stargazing or reading - forming his love for scrolls.
- he tried to draw, but can't do that very well.
- his nanny left him when he was four, because she didn't then being left in his castle only with men. Weirdly, he still kept his srereotypical girlish-ness even after and through that.
- Reddish can read! Gerbil can, too. (Obviously.) Avalanche can read only a Icewing code used for army messages, and another Icewing code she had to read orders from, but she doesn't know the common Pyrrhia alphabet.
- Depths can read too, only the common alphabet, but only capital letters - or its equivalent for Pyrrhia latin.
- Gerbil would be 17 y.o. as a human, Avalanche cca 18, Reddish 16/17 and Depths 18. She's older than Avalanche, though.
- sometimes I write Jerboa instead of Gerbil. It's because it's the right translation of his name - I'm used to think about them in my native language - but I call him Gerbil instead because there already is Jerboa in canon.
- Reddish's brother was a firescales - they managed to throw him off a cliff after he hatched, though they spared her. She grew up weirdly strong for being non-firescales, though, realising she has to conpensate gor her lack of fire in battles and working hard to do so. She uses her small and sleek figurey sneaking on others most often - leading to her later lifestyle as a thief, which she did the most. She misses her mom, sometimes, but not her childhood at all. She doesn't remember much of it, her early childhood is a haze, but she was told about it by her mother and later by her nannies when her mother left her in the Hatcher as most of Skywing parents do. (She wanted to keep her, though, for a moment feeling important because her daughter was unique, though then realising she'd probably never fight well and was embarrassing her in front of others - ...huge misconception. Too bad for her, now. Reddish doesn't remember anything except her gaze and face, though, and wven that could be made up, so she wouldn't probably recognise her if they ever met. Likewise for her mom, though the blue eyes might reveal it.)
- Reddish reacted to Raindrop - a hybrid - so bad because she dislikes her personality, not because she is a hybrid at all. She doesn't have then stigmatised at all, she never thought about what'd happen if two different tribes mixed much before, she just... Hates Raindrop in general. XD
(Reddish be like "I'm not homophobic! I hate everyone equally.")
- none of them have literally any stable and present relationship with her parents, and they just.. doesn't care.

thought not so long ago bout some godfather thing & idk how it worked for american italians & have no idea how it was shown in like godfather that is the book/film
but its an interesting thing ok i admit. thought that maybe if i'll settle on a version that eddie's cousin father was mafioso & moretti's friend and was a very important part of the family then maybe i'd like moretti to be her godfather. because:
"The rite of baptism makes the father of the child and the godfather compari - "co-fathers". This is an extremely significant event, even the brothers who became comparis are forced to abandon the usual "tu" and switch to the official "voi". Until the end of their days, "co-fathers" are obliged to fulfill each other's requests - requests of any kind. The peasants loved to talk about the terrible torments that John the Baptist, the patron saint of compari, inflicted on those who betray their "co-fathers".
This social institution called "comparatico" acts like glue - it expands blood ties, ensures friendship, peace and cooperation. The two who fought with knives could well have given up bloodshed and become comparis in order to avoid a skirmish that could damage the families of both.
A successful choice of a godfather for a child could bring work in the sulfur mines, a land plot for rent, a loan or alms.
However, the position of the godfather required a lot. The Sicilian expression "fari i cumpari" ("to behave like a co-father") also means a person who is ready to participate in an illegal enterprise, to help commit a crime. The bond between comparis holds society together, but also unites people with criminal interests. Mafiosi often bond within an organization by becoming comparis."
^ actually way deeper than i imagined & co-fathers - what an insane term. but bout eddie's cousin - this thought even seems pretty organic? since she's canonnicaly married to clemente's soldier and her cousin is well. eddie. woman was surrounded by crime all the way & just can be interesting dynamic w moretti (and also smth that will make both more human)
& i hc that she was born in 1903 or 1904 smth like that. so moretti wanting to become a compari w another mafioso makes many sense (since canonically he organized his own crime family only in 1913). Maybe it happened in america but maybe back in sicily - not sure bc i need to think bout plot/timeline/general connections
but anyway eddie's cousin probly gotta be the most protected ass in this goddamn story
upd.
a) she's very neutral bout crime & i think there might be some sicilian thing bout bonds
b) need to think bout the point below:
it'd also make sense if cecilio (eddie's father) would become a compari - but only in theory, bc there's a super complicated relationships between lisa (eddie's mother) and her family - mostly bc of cecilio (man breaks woman's life again. classics). cecilio either refused (which only made things worse) eithef no one even suggested it (also made things worse) <- looked at my notes & it doesnt fit into the timeline bc lisa & cecilio met only in 1906/7. But maybe i'll change it (maybe not)
c) moretti & eddie's cousin father probly were from different places + from different sicilian families - adds more sense to becoming a compari. They probly didn't even know eachother -that- well, but it was just a good desicion from the practical point of view. Im so smart
upd2. i think its a good desicion also bc it might help to spot the differences between sicilian mindset/american (both & less traditionalist to speak shortly but more complicated actually)
upd3. Wanted to write a story bout capo killing his boss w/o any mercy bc he dgaf but ended up w some "fathers and children" by turgenev shit
also eddie's cousin core
#m2#eddie's cousin#tomaso moretti#& after readin that thing bout compari my first thought was: falcone polycule ofc#itd be so funny if carlo & lauretta had children* & eddie became a godfather. co-fathers frhhhkjk kekeke#yeah cool but whos the real one🤣#*in my head dor carlo/lauretta theres only 2 ways: either no children either several nothing in between#<- my misreading of fp files that carlo has 3 children will remain in my head forever im afraid#for*

So uhhh how about maybe a tighnari x reader where the reader is a sibling of dottore's and they find out about his real work through a slip of the tongue (this is when they're an adult). They pursue becoming a doctor, and they decide to apply to Sumeru as well as other areas where they can train, and they get into Sumeru. Somehow they meet, chaos ensues when things are discovered
This is gonna be fun to write.
Translation: prepare to get hurt lol
Reader is gender neutral, please correct me if I slip up BC my brains like mush rn.
Got long af so I'm gonna do a second part lol
--
You never got on with your brother, finding him incredibly creepy. Sure, you were siblings, but something felt really dodgy about him. It didn't fade away at any point either, in fact it got even worse when he finished his education and somehow managed to get work for the Fatui.
You had assumed he was simply a medic, giving the bare minimum care to soldiers if they got wounded. Sure, it wasn't his idea of interesting, but at least he wasn't responsible for the care of vulnerable people who he could take advantage of.
Well, you found out he was experimenting on people who had less than ideal circumstances. See, he had been talking to a communication decide, and you overheard him documenting the age and condition of the 'new admissions'. Peering around the corner, you see the way his mouth just cracks into the most horrific grin. You just know he's trying to hold back laughter.
You never really knew what to do with your life, but you did try in school, achieving good qualifications to fit in wherever you deemed fit.
Now, however, you feel the sudden urge to become a doctor. Not like your evil brother, but rather a doctor that helps heal others, a doctor with a good reputation and an approachable exterior. Deciding to apply for courses, you go for Sumeru, Fontaine and Liyue. You already knew Sumeru would be near impossible to get into with how world renowned it was, you hoped to get into either Liyue or Fontaine.
When you receive the letter of acceptance from Sumeru, you manage to hold back your squeal of joy at the sight. Attached to the letter was a book you were to read up on. You flick through the pages, recognising one of the conditions to be one your brother was fixated on. You feel compelled to specialise in this reading, taking in all the information you can before you were to head off. Your mother thinks you're simply moving to Sumeru for some work, and she doesn't bar an eye when you leave.
--
You decide to take a detour from the usual route, figuring you may as well enjoy what other parts of Teyvat had to offer. Mondstadt, for example, felt like a getaway in comparison to your homeland. That wasn't exactly surprising, considering you had to deal with your brother's less than sane speeches.
Liyue was freeing as well, but in a more controlled manner than that of Mondstadt. You wished you left a day earlier, that way you would have been able to truly appreciate all the world had to offer.
However, you figure you may as well step foot into Sumeru. You navigate through the Chasm with someone who has the time to assist, you paying them respectfully with Mora before you head through into Sumeru.
To your surprise, you are met with a beautiful forest setting. Your mouth can't help but fall open, somehow able to keep ahold of your bag. You zone out for a bit, and you think you hear someone try to rouse you.
"Hello?" You hear a soft voice, a gloved hand waving across your face. You shake your head, promptly apologising before turning your attention to a beautiful looking man. His eyes peer into you, as if he asked you a question.
"Oh, sorry." You start. "I'm due to start a course soon at- uh sorry, one moment please-" you pause, pulling out your letter as well as the book you had been gifted. The man peers over your shoulder, and he lets out a sound of acknowledgement.
"Ah, what a coincidence." He responds. "I have to go into the city for work, I'll guide you." He nods, face still calm.
"...I would like to know who you are before trusting you with my safety." You half joke, the man smiling softly for a moment before he composed himself.
"You may call me Tighnari. I am a forest watcher." He explains. You begin to introduce yourself, only for him to recall your name. "I did see your letter, after all." He explains, smiling when you nod dumbly after realising he wasn't some sort of creep who knew all about you.
The walk wasn't very eventful, but Tighnari kept looking over at the book in your hand. You realise he's curious about the contents, and you hand it over. He looks over at you, surprised you were allowing him to read your book.
"I noticed you looking." You smile, Tighnaris ears twitching slightly. "I've already read through the book, so I think I can survive without it by my side all the time."
Tighnari nods, and he looks up to see the city entrance. Taking a deep breath, he walks up, you next to him.
When you find out you were to get a device of sorts attached to you, your mind already begins to dread the reaction you'd get if people realise you were your brother's sibling. Reluctantly, you do so, and thankfully neither of the people in front of you react. Taking a breath of relief, you walk with Tighnari, him leading you to the building you were to report to.
'Keep an eye on that one.'
--
After talking to Tighnari more, he asks if you would be interested in staying in the forest. Of course, you had some limits, but he told you there was someone that you both would benefit from being around. Eagerly nodding, you begin walking with Tighnari only to overhear a discussion between a parent and someone you didn't like the look of.
"Your son will be safe with us, rest assured." You hear the other person say. You tell Tighnari you'll catch up, and you make eye contact with the parent. Thankfully, it's discrete enough that the other person didn't suspect anyone was listening in. You shake your head, mouthing the words 'dont do it'.
"Thank you for the offer, I truly appreciate it." The parent starts. "However, I must turn this down."
The person sighs, clearly frustrated because this parent didn't fall for the trap that others did. You hide behind a crate, waiting until the other person is away and knocking on the door. They see you, and they demand an answer.
"I have reason to believe your son would be taken advantage of if you were to hand him over." You explain. "Was this organisation the Fatui, by any chance?" You ask after getting a look of confusion. The parent nods, and you can't help but feel relieved you overheard the transaction. "Believe me, their intentions are not pure." You finish, the parent staring at you as they take the information in.
"But my son's condition is complex." The parent queries.
"If you would like, I can keep an eye on your son's condition." You begin. "I started a course on this condition. If you like, you can check me."
The parent does so, and they nod slowly. It's like they're debating on something, but you brush it off. They thank you, accepting the offer and wishing you a safe journey home.
--
The walk back felt tense, for lack of a better word.
Tighnari had an expression of unease, staring ahead and not responding when you asked him if he found the book useful. After you look at him out of concern, he closes his eyes in thought before stopping.
"The book was insightful." He bluntly explains before walking ahead.
You have a feeling he's been told something, but you know better than to ask him to just tell you.
--
You are introduced to Collei, who takes interest in you immediately. You don't disclose where you're from, knowing from her history that she would fear you simply because of your origins. Collei can't help but laugh when she notices you look over at master Tighnari with a look that wasn't purely professional, stifling it when Tighnari raises a brow, asking her what was so funny.
Following her patient journey was certainly enlightening. For whatever reason, Tighnari informed you right before Collei woke up about the Fatui and what they did to her, and you remember the disgusting way your brother took joy in recording the patients he received on that day.
Collei never mentioned it, and you decided you wouldn't press her on it. The time she jolted after you brushed past her, you understood completely, apologising to her at the exact same time she did to you.
Tighnari started trusting you, but he didn't like the fact you never disclosed to him personally your relation to 'the doctor'. He waited, hoping you would tell him soon enough, only to become frustrated when it didn't happen.
One night, you three were out on a job, and Tighnari was asleep, Collei sitting with you while you examined her. Hearing someone in the distance, you look over to see a ginger haired man wave you over.
"Who's that?" Collei asks, you thinking of a good excuse to figure it out yourself.
"Oh, that's one of the parents of the patients I look after." You smile to make it convincing. "I'll be back in just a moment. If something happens, call me over."
You walk over, the man smiling and going along with the act until he was certain nobody else was paying attention.
"You're going to need to come with me." The man starts.
"And who are you go tell me so?" You bite back, the man chuckling lightly at your response.
"Tartaglia, 11th of the Fatui harbingers."
He takes note of how your eyes widen.
"Your brother really doesn't appreciate the lack of patients he's getting from Sumeru, and it started after you moved out." He explains. "He's going to start looking for you personally."
"Oh, thats certainly interesting!" You smile, Tartaglia sighing out.
"Listen, if you come with be back to the Fatui, we will train you to be whatever you want." He tries to convince you.
"I'd rather die." You say without hesitation. Tartaglia raises a brow. "I don't care what the Fatui can give me, I don't want to be associated with my brother's line of work."
Tartaglia rubs the back of his head, awkwardly looking away.
"Listen, you don't have much of a choice." Tartaglia sighs out.
"Give me a week to reconsider, please." You might as well try, right? After all, you knew this guy had siblings, and he would protect them to the best of his ability. Plus, the phrasing implied you would eventually fall into their hands.
"...Fine." he admits defeat. "You aren't gonna put up a fight if I were to deny you that anyway."
--
Returning back to camp, you see Tighnari glaring holes into you. Letting out a shaky sigh, you wave in hopes of him reciprocating it.
The fact he didn't let you know he heard most of the conversation.
You sit down, looking over at Collei who was sound asleep. Tighnari leans over, whispering into your head so he didn't disturb Collei with any of the information.
"Do you intend on handing Collei over?" Tighnari asks, his glare hardening.
"No." You respond softly.
"Why don't I believe that?" He continues.
"Because you know who my brother is." You respond. Tighnari keeps looking, not whispering anything else in the moment. "You associate me with him."
"...And why didn't you admit you were related to him? Don't tell me you're doing this to correct his wrongdoings." He continues to interrogate you.
You tear up, the weight of the situation slamming down on you.
"Because I knew you would label me to be exactly like him." You respond. "Truthfully, I feel stupid for only recently discovering what he does."
Tighnari lets you take a moment to breathe, pulling away from your ear. A tear falls, Tighnari doesn't seem to care. Why would he, considering what he knew since day one.
"...I don't know what I can do." You start once again. "I want to stay and complete my studies, but I trust you know why I couldn't safely do so." Tighnari nods, eyes looking over. "But I don't want to go to the Fatui, especially knowing their less than ethical actions."
Tighnari doesn't talk, hoping to see if you add anything else.
"If I'm spotted by the Fatui in a week's time in Sumeru, not only will I be punished, but anyone housing me will be hurt." You sigh, making sure Collei is still asleep so she didn't hear any of this.
"...I'll take care of this myself." You reaffirm yourself. "Don't look for me. Tell Collei I have a placement, or maybe say I've been moved into another area. " You explain.
"But what about you?" Tighnari suddenly asks out of concern, standing up at the same time as you do.
"Let me worry about that, okay?" You shakily let out, brushing off the hand that manages to reach you before you begin to execute your plan.
First step, you go to the academy the next day and inform them you are dropping out. You will also inform the parents that you have been keeping safe with your personal knowledge of the Fatui. Thankfully, the parents take it well, some of them explaining they had a feeling it was bound to happen. When you ask them to keep each other safe, they nod in understanding.
The next step, you find the parts of Sumeru that the Fatui don't have interest in. At first, you thought abandoned camps would do the trick until you had a very close call, almost being caught sleeping by a Fatui agent. You figure out that chances are, they had an idea of where you usually stayed because of your academic background, you have to think of perhaps going towards the areas where you weren't as likely to spot people who took pride in academic intelligence, but rather in trades.
You had a long road ahead of you, you realise as you set up camp just outside of Port Ormos.

my personal preference on the team minato age thing:
Personally, I like drawing Kakashi being 4 years younger than Obito and Rin, partially because the idea of a 10 year old Obito being absolutely desperate to show up this know it all 6 year old is just like. really, really funny + compelling to me (the embarassment of being much less skilled than a kid whose barely more than half ur age??? LMFAO. BRUTAL TO THE EGO!)
and also it's a neat parallel with Gai, whose genin team was Genma (3-4 years older than Gai) and Ebisu (1-2 years older than Gai). I feel like it emphasizes the kind of brutal war machine that Konoha is at that time—that they'd consider a 5 year old (or in Gai's case, a 7 year old) to be viable soldiers, especially during this war where they're apparently spread incredibly thin and theyve got to cobble the teams together
i also like…hm…idk
i think that there's potential for like a really impactful moment where minato tells obito abt sakumo
and suddenly obito realizes that kakashi, at the insane age of 5, had decided he would never let anyone get close, and instead of seeing kakashi as this arrogant rule obsessed prodigy asshole, obito realizes that kakashi is not only a scared kid just like him, maybe even moreso, but like terrifyingly vulnerable.
Kakashi is like 8 and has nobody watching out for him except maybe Minato, meanwhile Obito who comes from the huge and tightly knit uchiha clan is like. constantly caring for and being taken care of by other people—i'm sure that he tried to imagine himself in Kakashi's place when Minato told him abt this.
i think it could be a really interesting moment where obito stops seeing himself in relation to kakashi as like, subordinate (tho kakashi still has rank on him) or like, a struggling teammate being bullied by a hardass child prodigy— and instead. for just a moment. maybe he sees himself as like an older sibling/cousin/member of the clan who has a duty to take care of kakashi, in a way that kakashi cannot take care of himself i especially think that him having that feeling right before he ''dies'' and as a final gesture gives kakashi his eye…that could be really fucking touching. like. the sharingan is like THE identifying feature of the Uchiha right, and after that the Uchiha that we do see Kakashi interact with, Itachi and Sasuke, both see the sharingan, and have a strong reaction to it, wanting to kinda size kakashi up and see if they accept him, bc they understandably see the sharingan as something belonging to their family.
this said, the choice to give it to Kakashi, could be read as Obito giving him a gift of not just of a very special jutsu, but also like, in a way, a belonging? Maybe extended with the intent to like, tell Kakashi that he's like family?
LIKE. idk how to explain it.
Theres also something abt his imitation of obito afterwards…not only adopting his philosophy but his mannerisms…and the way that this gift from obito is foundational to the person who Kakashi becomes (his special chidori is only rlly functional optimally with the sharingan—his whole nickname "copycat kakashi" is bc of the sharingans ability to remember jutsu)
like. i just think that an older brother type of figure reading of obito could have been really compelling if kishimoto leaned into it
but he didn't! not in any way that mattered anyway. so my reading remains my singular interpretation
#but all that said: this is not to convince anyone of my opinion what so ever!! im explicitly against trying to convince people im right lol#the text doesnt give us a clear cut answer and so i'm not right im just some guy on the internet with an opinion#and most of this is based on like what i would find compelling in a story which is different from whatd satisfy other people

The sawyer twins with their s/o headcannons
Sorry for the long wait ive been gone for some months now and I apologize. Ive been kinda uninspired recently so I though Id post this for shits and giggles. Requests are always open
These headcannons only account for the events and characters of tcsm1 and tcsm2. Any other tcsm media is not included or accounted for
I apologize in advance for both grammatical and spelling errors:)
Chop top
As far as past relationship experience im sure he had some pre-nam but like zero post-nam so safe to say hes a little rusty in that department
Your relationship is most likey based off a shared interest or one of his weird infatuations. Things like music, 70s-80s culture, murder. Or you could just be an innocent civilian who he decides is like the best person ever 🤷
He flirts like ATROCIOUSLY
Not like bad at flirting but goes from 0-100. He could be complimenting you on your outfit and then say the most dog awful shit known to man
Dates consist of driving the truck looking for victims or just looking around town trying to find something interesting to do
If you thought he annoyed drayton....oh youre in for a suprise. You might just become draytons favorite person bc now chop is running around asking you dumb questions and not him
He loves when you wear his clothes or anthing of his. Pins, jackets, drawls, ect. he loves seeing you wear them no matter the occasion
He probably has some sort of pain fetish/kink so I dont doubt he will ask you to cut him, lick his plate, pick at the skin around it
Its kinda his favorite thing to be in pain since he has such a high pain tolerance but if you dont want him to cut you he wont (though expect him to urge you to try or push to introduce weapons into the bedroom)
Likes to play fight with you whenever the opportunity strikes
Being in the military he ruff housed alot with his fellow soldiers so doing it with you is kinda a fun thing for him ( also because he knowns he has that military strength and always wins)
Trys to scare the living shit out of you for his own amusement. If you're doing something important or just reading he'll come up from behind you and start yelling for no reason 😒
He doesn't shower often 😀 so the only way that you will get him to bathe is to get in with him. This goes for other hygienic practices. You kinda got to take it into your own hands
Nubbins
If chop was rusty then nubbins must be corroding because he has little to no experience with relationships past one-sided obsessions and TV
He most likely was the one who got obsessed first doing things like spending copious amounts of time with you and taking photos of you whenever he could(both when you were aware and unaware)
The fact that you liked him back was not only a shock to him but to the whole family, especially drayton. You can just image chops jaw dropping after getting a letter while deployed that his twin brother actually has game
Isnt very good at flirting or just isn't experienced in the feild
He isnt as lewd as his twin when trying to hit on you but his....compliments?....just come out weird. "You look like you taste good" "WHAT?!" Tbh i think he means it😬
Your dates are mostly him getting into trouble doing things he shouldn't be doing. He likes to take you on his adventures to the slaughter house or leading victims (really all his date choices are morbid). If you get to choose the date however, sitting in a field or playing around a lake is sufficient
He also likes pain and constantly inflicts pain on himself. Will likely ask you to participate in hurting him or hurting yourself. He'll call you a baby at first if you decline but eventually leaves you alone about it after a while
He also enjoys playfighting with you because it gives him something to help dilute all that energy he has. If he cuts you in the process or knocks you over he'd be the type to mock your pain and over exaggerate his own if he gets hurt
Brings you random things he finds when scavenging around as gifts as well as polaroids of you doing everyday activities without the knowledge of you being photographed
If you find some photos hes taken of you without your knowledge laying around he'll scratch the back of his neck and shrug. Maybe even fiend innocence
Bothers you no matter what you're doing. You in the middle of doing chores? Nubbins will be there asking you anything under the sun just to get you to focus on him for a few minutes
At this point him getting on your nerves is fun for him since we've seen his reaction at getting under draytons skin. Constantly being stubborn about things he would have normally done like doing his chores or setting the table just because he wants you to force him
As far as bedroom wise hes not very skilled more than likely focuses mainly on you and bases alot of his moves on whats hes learned from films and magazines

@jacnaylor buckle up buttercup here we go
Like FIRST OF ALL yes love what you have to say here about them going undercover (why are they so good at pretending? Which is an EO concept that's been on my mind hence my recent one shot of the same name that takes on a whole different meaning in the context of Elliot/Marcus) and second yes you're absolutely right re: the violence; bc Marcus, like Olivia, fears what's inside him and has spent his whole life trying to be Better and Elliot, who wants I think to love and respect his father, finds it more of a struggle. Marcus understands what was Wrong about his dad (he thinks) but it's not as clear cut for Elliot who empathizes with his father (extrapolating that based on him essentially following in his father's footsteps and the OC brotherhood arc). Their fathers both dictate their choices in different ways. And Marcus is tender like Olivia is tender but Elliot is old fashioned; a tender man challenges him more than a tender woman which is interesting to me bc Elliot himself can be very tender. And re: Cassidy
Oh fuck yes bestie pls bc I personally head canon that Brian fucked Stone; I think there's something profoundly homoerotic about their connection and about Brian himself but bc of Brian's hangups re: masculinity and his own trauma it's not something we ever see him capable of exploring but if young Brian meets Marcus....oh yeah fam i fully think they fuck and I fully think we can preserve their arc. A youthful indiscretion that confuses and compels Brian and ends badly but he never forgot how Marcus made him feel and they meet again when they're older and sadder and lonely and give each other back a piece of themselves they were missing but they're still never gonna fit bc Brian is never gonna accept that he can have a lifelong relationship with a man and Marcus wants more than Brian can give him.
Which ties in Barba and Stone. Stone fully reads bi to me and Barba has always been gay in my head which is PERFECT for both their arcs with Marcus. Stone catching feelings but the moment is never right. Barba and Marcus are still best friends and Barba still reacts badly every time he finds out Marcus is fucking someone else. (Bruh. Tucker?)
But really losing my MIND over the gay bar bit like if everything plays out the same. And Elliot comes back and he's just buried his wife but Marcus is right there and it's dredging up all those old complicated feelings and I feel like he may struggle with the idea of like. Asking himself if he is somehow betraying Kathy, if his love for her is somehow invalidated not by his having feelings for someone else but his having feelings for a man and Elliot in his post PTSD spiral where Marcus still hasn't fully let him in going to the gay bar, becoming a regular (maybe getting a blowie in the bathroom on a bad night) and it's not that he's looking for someone to hook up with he's looking for himself.
Ayanna knows. There's maybe no sexual gossip about Benson and Stabler (they get to just be "brothers in arms" if they're both men, protected by the inherent homoeroticism of soldier metaphors which is its own thing to unpack) but the second she sees the two of them together she Knows. And it makes a lot of things about Stabler make sense.
who had "genderbent olivia benson" on their "things that make leah feral" bingo card
under a cut bc it's a lot, tw: at the beginning for brief discussion of SA wrt Serena and Olivia
this is cut and pasted from discord so forgive the way it jumps around but:
Sorry I just distracted myself with "Olivia would've been a man" bc like. Can you imagine them doing the "I'm the product of a rape" storyline for a man? I really can't see anybody doing that bc the challenge that would present to the character's masculinity is so complex I can't see anybody having the balls to do it
(god but the alternate universe in which Olivia is a man and Elliot falls in love with him anyway.... I'm vibrating at a frequency that could shatter glass)
Bc in many ways Olivia internalizes her mother's trauma and acts as a victim, as if she herself has been raped, she empathizes as a woman, as a fellow member of an oppressed class, but if it's a man, and he is of the same class as the person who hurt his mother, he can't claim her injury as his own and instead of taking the place of the victim he takes the place of the perpetrator which is also fascinating wrt the Serena/child relationship
He would not be named Oliver also I'd have to sit with this for a minute to come up with an appropriately elegant and literature inspired name for him lmao
And he is still doing penance, by joining svu, not bc he has inherited his mother's pain but bc he has inherited his father's shame
Ooof and when he meets Simon.....
Oooof and when Elliot wakes up from a dream about [his name] sucking his dick
...kathy being less threatened because its another man tho
kathy being like 👀
I'm losing my mind about this actually closet bisexual Elliot Stabler who struggles to form solid attachments with men (if you think about it he works best with women and that goes back to Joe and Bernie) developing this intense codependent relationship with another man for the first time and Kathy is at first just happy he has a friend but as time goes on she has. Questions. Especially when Elliot starts preferring to hit from the back
God Kathy trying to tell him he's in love with this guy and Elliot having an existential crisis
Ok but what is his name. Some suggestions:
Alexander (the great)
Patrick (bc she couldn't call him Patroclus)
Jason (and the Argonauts)
Marcus (Aurelius)
Or maybe she went generic. Sean/Ethan/Evan/David
oh i like Marcus
And maybe he goes by Mark but Serena always called him Marcus
YES.
Maybe Elliot switches back and forth between Marcus and Mark
But Marcus at one point killing someone or hurting someone and being like "I'm just like him!" meaning his dad and Elliot grabbing him by the back of the neck and being like "you're nothing like him" all fierce
fj;sldfj;sladjfsalkfj;sdf FUCK
what if its mark most of the time and "Marcus" when Shit Gets Real
YES EXACTLY
Also "you're nothing like him" making Elliot realize Mark is nothing like Joe. That Elliot has approached almost every man in his life as if they are his father - dangerous, not to be trusted, not safe to be vulnerable with - and then realizing he is safe with Mark
Oh wow I am on my knees at the moment thinking about their physicality actually like. Still touching too much still standing too close still finishing each other's food and sentences, but also some hand wavy plot excuse for them to get as close as EO did in the "are you ready for me daddy" scene and also. Since they're both men. Way more seeing each other shirtless/naked in the locker room and what that does to Elliot
The question is tho what does Marcus look like 🤔
Still dark hair and big dark eyes I think
God what if Marcus is like an out bisexual (he still fucks both Alex Cabot and Trevor Langan) and the way that would force Elliot to confront his own desires and the way the lightbulb would go off in his head when he finds out about Trevor and realizes Marcus is Available and Elliot wants him to be and what that does to Elliot. The shame and the desire
Closet bisexual Elliot Stabler is very important to me. Elliot lying awake at night thinking about Trevor and Marcus and when he imagines it he keeps replacing Trevor's face with his own
And Olivia is really interesting bc so much of who she is is tied up directly in her relationship to womanhood (and the audience's response to her is deeply connected to the audience's perception of womanhood, either as women themselves or as people observing women)
So what does that do to us when Olivia is no longer a woman?
