Spoiler-Free Post-T9S Part 2 Binge Post
I watched all eight episodes in one sitting. I have conflicting thoughts and conflicting feelings about T9S Part 2.
I hold the perspectives of:
Watching it as a show completely unrelated to T7S.
Watching it as a sequel to (or continuation of) T7S.
Watching as a fan.
Watching as an author.
I think and feel multiple ways about the same elements from these points of view. I also think and feel multiple ways about different elements from one or more of my perspectives.
I laughed out loud quite a bit.
I enjoyed and was satisfied by aspects of Part 2. I also felt angry or disappointed about other aspects.
I wrote after watching Part 1 that I care about the new characters but don't feel a deeper emotional connection to them. Interestingly, I feel even less emotionally connected to some of the new characters and more to others, but I'm overall invested in their character arcs and what will happen next.
I understand why.
I don't identify with -- or find myself in -- these characters and their struggles. That's a me thing. I do, however, find myself and experiences reflected by Eric, Donna, Jackie, Hyde, Fez, and Kelso -- their personalities, their inner and outer conflicts.
That being said, I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy plenty of shows where I don't see any of myself reflected. It's not a requirement. đ
But because:
T7S is such a personal show for me
T7S's last season was completely mishandled (butchered)
Real-world events guaranteed T9S would be an AU from T7S canon and create its own canon
T9S's head writer, brought in from T7S, used Wikipedia as his research to help create T9S (rather than, say, rewatching T7S) -- he didn't do proper research like a good author would to write a novel, a good actor does to play certain roles. The lack of care is evident, just as it became evident in T7S at the end of season 5
That '90s Show didn't have a chance to be emotionally fulfilling for me, on the whole, as a continuation of That '70s Show.
T9S has plenty of charms, though. And plenty to critique. Just like T7S.
I totally get why a segment of T7S fans is very happy with T9S -- and accept it as a continuation of T7S. I also understand why a segment of T7S fans feel and think the opposite way. And then there are fans for whom T9S is the core show while T7S is its prequel.
For me, T9S continues to be a fanfic onscreen, one I like enough to keep watching.
For my friends (and others) who enjoy the show, I won't write a meta-critique. But I will answer asks people send in and give my analysis/opinion (I've got one in the hopper already).
I believe people should be able to watch whatever sitcom they want without being shat on for it (for any reason). Freedom of choice. Freedom from judgment. My hope is that others who deem the show should not be watched (for whatever reason) never forget the humanity of the people who are watching it. âĽď¸

OKAY SAME ANON sorry this is the third one,, but im going thru the rest of your asks and im realizing so many things.
I agree, a show SHOULD be able to stand on its own as an individual thing rather than counting on a sequel to continue its story. Now that I'm looking at the show in this lens, it is very lackluster. I still do quite love it, scratches that slice of life itch,, but mystery wise? No. I loved how ominous the "Everyday" song was. I thought it was supposed to foreshadow Armageddon (which it did, kind of) but more so it was for the Beel Gabriel reveal in the end. Aziraphale ran around looking for clues, but the annoying thing for me is he never puts it together? It was just something he does for US, the audience. It would've been good if he acknowledged all those clues in the ending, or realized it faster than us. In the end it seems so fruitless for him to investigate bc it never really did him any good? It was just for the audience to see. Also the Nina--Maggie subplot was cute, but it was also lacking? I like the point of "you cant force us together" bc theyre humans and its not that easy. But as a subplot it was waaay too ignored for it to be any relevant at all to the plot.
The thing about you mentioned abt A/C being supporting charas in the book, I agree. The good thing abt their dynamic is even with little clues and gestures we realize how good they are w/each other. The subtlety is what makes everything MORE interesting. But s2 makes it revolve around the ship, to the point where its all just filler. I dont mind filler,, but as you said, canon-compliant filler would be better. I appreciate that they're the main characters now since more screentime but I'd love it if they weren't ship-focused and still had proper interaction and dynamics with people outside of their circle (which I liked from the book + s1).
Anyways,, I still like it. But I appreciate seeing your takes since it really changed the way I view the show now. I feel more neutral about it now somewhat? I'm not invested in fandoms anymore bc of irl stuff so I don't think I would've spotted these things like you did so I really, really appreciate all your insights. Thank you. There's a lot of things to fix if s3 ever gets announced.
I think Neil mentioned that Terry brought up the "Everyday" song as a song about the Apocalypse (the book or S1), which could have been so good and ominous......instead it got used on this random Beelz x Gabe romance that came out of nowhere đđ I thought the Nina x Maggie romance had potential in the beginning, but also completely fell flat/didn't go anywhere towards the end. Again, my takes are NOT trying to convince people who liked the show that they should change their opinions and NOT like the show anymore -- I'm just trying to explain why I personally didn't like it. Feel free to enjoy it as much as you can! Unfortunately I had way too much insights about it for it to be enjoyable for me đđ

For the book ask: 1, 4, 11, 14, 30, please!
Thank you!!
1. do u prefer a standalone or a series?
Umm can u say I prefer series because then I can stay in the world longer, but at the same time standalones that leave you satisfied just on the right side of wanting more tend to be the ones that stick with you?
With the limited time I have nowadays, Iâm more likely to read standalones. Series require a lot more commitmentđ
4. a book which had a tv adaption that was better than the book itself?
The Black Stallion Returns. Iâd seen the movie several times before I got the book, almost nothing was the same, and I was so confused that it took me a while to realise it was the same story (and that it was the sequel to The Black Stallion - one of my favourite books). To be fair I was like sevenđ
11. the best book u have ever read?
Only one? Help! *sneakily points to question 30*
This Is How You Lose The Time War
I am an absolute sucker for nonlinear storytelling, and the letters they write to each other are so, so beautiful. Iâve read it several times and even made a map connecting the time jumps and different realities.
14. an overrated book?
Just about any YA booktok book really. During my TikTok stint I bought a few when I didnât know what else to read and I was quite disappointed by most of them. They werenât bad, just not worth the hype. Though in their defence part of it probably has to do with me having outgrown the YA genre quite a while ago.
30. give any 3 book recs to ur followers!
This Is How You Lose The Time War
Wonderful, descriptive language. Beautiful. Time travel. Definitely worth the hype it has received.
The Travelling Cat Chronicles
Just a fun little feelgood, super duper sweet story⌠which nearing the end will leave you bawling on the ground. The only book that has made me cry.
One of my comfort books.
Anekdote zur Senkung der Arbeitsmoral by Heinrich BĂśll.
(Anecdote Concerning the Lowering of Productivity). This is just a short story, about two pages long. I read it in school and it has been permanently imprinted on my brain since. There are several good translations to English, so Iâd say itâs definitely worth reading. And a bit about the history of its creation gives its meaning even more weight.
I think about it a lot, wishing I could be the fisher, rather than the tourist.

Idk what horror movies youâve seen, but I definitely recommend The Thing, Barbarian (kinda weird but good), Mother! (my favorite movie, itâs so good), Train to Busan, Carrie, Candyman(1992), The Descent, The Strangers, Trick r Treat, The Mist, Freddy vs Jason (rlly funny)...
I know these are all super well known so youâve probably seen them, but I feel like the more obscure you go the worse the movie gets sometimes đ
Hello again!!
Thank you for sending in your recommendations!! And can you believe I have not seen any of themâoutside of Carrie, and maybe a bit of Mother! but outside of that I have not seen anyyyyyyyyyy So you helped me quite allot đ
The only ones I've seen are....
Rec (all of them except the last one)
Paranormal Activity (2 movies left for me to watch lol)
Insidious (All of them, except the new one that's coming out)
Dead Silence (I loooove that movie!! So bummed there isn't a sequel or something)
The whole Conjuring saga (I mean, it's aight)
The Blair Witch Project (I was traumatized by this movieâsomeone from my family had it in repeat by some strange reason when I was a kid and that last scene messed me up. I know it was my brother, he says no but whatever...)
The Taking of Deborah Logan (This one made me and my friends laugh for one specific scene lol outside of that, a bit creepy really.)
As Above So Below (another one that made us laugh, I can't take horror movies seriously when I'm with my friends haha. Ah, good times)
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (I wouldn't dare work in a place like that because of THAT movie)
Goodnight Mommy. (Nice plot twist)
The Exorcist. (weird.... totally get why it was such a huge thing back then, but after all that's been released it kind of faded into the background)
I've seen more... I think, but these are the ones I would recommend anyone to see too đ¤ (as well as to not make the list any longer than it already is)
However... there is one movie I recommend mainly because my mom recommended it to me... and she's not scared of anything, except for this:
The Serpent and the Rainbow. (Apparently it's because its based on some real life things, ugahgjkahskjg I can't take that)
And any japanese horror movieâshe literally told me "Don't watch any if you want to sleep" so there's that đ
Anyways, I ended up dumping you with information you probably didn't ask for haha :'( and you're absolutely rightâthere's some movies that just get too weird for me, or gross (like the evil deadâI watched it and I was more disgusted than anything else haha)
Still, I appreciate you taking the time to send in some recs đĽşâ¤ď¸ Now I know what to watch after I'm done with my paranormal activity marathon đ
Thank you so much â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸ I hope you have a wonderful week, take care, and I'll do my best to post how I fared with these movies đ¤

highest # of kudos: 481Â (JingleâHoly F*ck)
highest # of hits: 15,454 (JingleâHoly F*ck)
top 3 fics by kudos:Â JingleâHoly F*ck, Good Old Fashioned Love Letters, When We Lost One Another
top 3 fics by hits: JingleâHoly F*ck, Good Old Fashioned Love Letters, When We Lost One Another
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
most challenging fic to write: When We Lost One Another
fic that came easiest to write: The Tale of You & I
most true-to-the-outline fic: The Tale of You & I stuck exactly to its outline. my most well behaved child.
most unlike-its-outline fic: JingleâHoly F*ck decided about 1/6 of the way through that it wanted to do something completely insane and i went along with it. (yes, itâs the sequel)
favorite reader freak-out: the fight scene in GOFLL 5, when everyone was screaming âJames wtf are you doing???!!â
most controversial scene: not necessarily a scene, but basically jilyâs entire 2008 breakup in JHF (so james)
hottest ask box topic of the year: people mad at 2008 JHF!James đ
most loved OC: I think the only two true OCs Iâve written are Olivia and Roger from JHF, so by basis of least-hated...weâll go Roger
most hated OC: Ms. Olivia Briar has several hit squads out on her currently đ
favorite things about writing our heroes: getting to explore how these two fell in love. we know that they were in love and extremely compatible, but thatâs about it, and it gives us so much creative freedom (and fun!) to explore all the ways it couldâve happened.Â
favorite villain to write: Iâve got to say, I do enjoy writing Oliviaâs scenes even when theyâre super angsty for Lily and JamesÂ
favorite marauder to write: obviously the answer to this is James, because i (shockingly) love him to bits. if heâs out of the question since heâs 1/2 of jily, definitely Sirius. Heâs just so easy to write with anyone, because heâs always got something to sayÂ
most i've cried while writing a scene: well, the most recently Iâve cried is the ending bit of JHF ch 20, but thereâs a scene quite a ways on in my jily Normal People AU to love, softly that just made me sob like a baby while I was writing it.
most i've laughed while writing a scene: all of the GOFLL scenes with Trelawney đi had such a fun time writing her chaos.
smuttiest smut scene: JHF Ch 9 (the car scene đ). I had a moment while writing it where i was just like...wow this is rated E. like, so E.
favorite jily kiss i wrote: ohhh. probably the first kiss from to love, softly. I love this line:Â âAll I know is one second there I stand there, seventeen years old, wearing a yellow sundress and un-kissed by James Potter, and the next second Iâve kissed my best friend.â
hardest trope/thing to write: anything drawn out! which is why iâm so surprised that JHF was super drawn out and long, because normally i like to skip over the waiting to get to the good stuff đ
easiest trope/thing to write: smut is very easy to write for me, as long as iâm not thinking about it. as soon as i start trying to focus, it just wonât come. i also find love declarations/falling in love so fun and sweet to write.
proudest fic moment: finishing GOFLL, because iâd never finished a fic before and that was huge for me! (also...that i successfully kept The First Time Divorcees Club a secret until the last chapter of JHF)
any fic regrets? i donât tend to dwell on fics once theyâve been published, because i feel like theyâre out in the world and people have read them and i canât do anything, so best not to panic. i think i mightâve liked if Iâd waited to post to love, softly until it was all written because itâs a fic that goes best in one flowing piece and this long break wasnât in my planÂ
2021 fic habits to break: starting a million different things.Â
2022 fic habits to make: finish things before i post them! i'm very good at keeping to deadlines once iâve set themâif I post that something will be coming out on x date or x time i will definitely do it, but it causes me a lot of stress and there was a point towards the middle of JHF where I was midway through exams and i felt so mentally and physically exhausted keeping up with the chapters đ
preferably iâd like to do less of that.Â

You know, even though you only wrote a drabble, but you wrote it so so much very good. Especially this one!! Now i've become addicted to reading its sequel, to reading how they will finally met and Eren executed what he was saw while in the hospital.
I think he was holding himself back really really hard considering it's Mikasa's beautiful pussy... which is right in front of his eyes and in the touch of his hands.
And i'm so intrigued, how can he do it--without getting himself hard? Lmao. Because, well, as we know, in any universe Eren couldn't help himself when he saw any slightest part of Mikasa exposed. Loollll....
DON'T WORRY BESTIE I'M ON IT!!! he's going to examine it quite... thoroughly but I don't think he'll be able to not get hard đđ that's like a requisite with mikasa!! She's too hot not to đđđ

This is a very helpful distraction đ¤
4. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
My To Write list is officially way too long for me to begin counting my plot bunnies. Right now I have 3 WIPs that I am actively working on, not including my MTH 2019 and RBB fics.Â
One of them involves a lot of âaccidentalâ kissing and has this as a working summary:Â
Steve and Tony accidentally kiss after a mission.Â
It becomes a Thing, but that doesnât mean anything. It doesnât mean theyâre dating. It certainly doesnât mean Tonyâs in love with Steve.
The working title is:Â Donât Pretend (You Donât Wanna Kiss Me) đ
7. Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose youâve written and explain why youâre proud of it.
Itâs slow but steady progress as they try and learn what being a team means outside of saving each otherâs lives and stopping super-villains. Their habits start to make room for one another; Natasha and Steve spar together in the gym when their schedules match up, and Thor tries out meditation with Bruce, taking a shine to it. Once, Steve watches Tony sparring with Natasha, and though heâs no match for her, heâs surprisingly good for someone who spends most of his time on the field encased in a suit of armour, moving much faster and landing quite a few more blows than Steve expects.
Itâs not perfect of course. Steve knows his teammates are hiding more scars than theyâll allow themselves to show, and heâs no exception, but thereâs something tying them together now, beyond working together when the world needs them to. Itâs not six pieces coming together to create something whole, but an affinity between them, similarity in broken places.
This is from Iâll Be (Good To You), my very first Steve/Tony fic. I like how this snippet shows the team coming together as they slow learn what it means to be more than a team. I unabashedly indulged in found family feels for this fic :D
13. Whatâs the best writing advice youâve ever come across?
Feed your imagination from different sources (movies, art, games, etc), not just the genre/subject youâre writing about.Â
23. If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?
No Control (Now You Know). It was the very first thing I ever wrote for the Steve/Tony fandom, and while Iâm fond of it (and itâs my second most popular fic, kudos-wise), I think I would do a better job executing the concept if I were to write it now.
29. If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
Probably a sequel/prequel to never thought, but knew by @navaan (one of my favorite CA:CW fix-its) focused on how Steve/Tony end up together before the time travel and True Loveâs Kiss.Â
37. Talk about your current wips.
Aside from the accidental kiss fic and RBB, Iâm also working on:
1) EG fix-it inspired by Lover Come Hold Me by @thegertie, which is a phenomenal fic.Â
2) Fluffy established relationship femslash Steve/Tony
3) My MTH 2019 fic, which involves retired Steve/Tony post EG and a lot of pining.
38. Talk about a review that made your day.
Someone mentioned that they really loved how I wrote Sharon and her relationship with Tony in Wonât You Say Love. I love Sharon, so I was over the moon to hear that they liked how I wrote her.
40. Write an alternative ending to Just Keep Your Eyes On Me.Â
It would have been fun to write about Tasha and Steve going on their first proper date, though thatâs more of an added scene than an alternative ending.Â
l guess another way to go would be to write about Steve not reacting well to the revelation that Natasha Stark is also Iron Woman, and how they work past that.
