There are a few places in mdzs where, in the midst of Wei Wuxian trying to placate him, Jiang Cheng says something so terribly, egregiously misrepresentative of Wei Wuxian and his morals that all Wei Wuxian can do is stare at him—like an adult realizing for the first time that the tantruming child they are attempting to calm may just be spoiled—before deciding to give up on the conversation. “Sure, Jiang Cheng,” he says, “it’s whatever you feel. People like to say that the problem with the Yunmeng friendship is simply communication issues, but I think the real problem is that when true conflict happens between them, they both realize that they truly do not like each other. The difference is that Jiang Cheng reacts to this realization by trying to force Wei Wuxian into the shape that he wants, which is submission—“Do as I say! Listen to me! Obey me!”—while Wei Wuxian stands at the other end of the torched bridge he plans to never cross again and goes, “Sure Jiang Cheng, it’s whatever you feel, it’s whatever you want.”

I always think it's funny when I see one of those posts from someone going I can't BELIEVE people talk about Ghibli films as aesthetic comfort sweet soft movies, these movies are about DARK FUCKED UP subject matter and heavy topics like DEATH and WAR and then you can scroll a little further and you can see reblogged clips from Ghibli movies of slow pans across sprawling meadows and beautifully rendered alien fauna or cozy villages with the most beautiful piano score played over it, sandwiched between moments of genuine human compassion and connection, quiet sequences of people performing mundane tasks, and I'm like yeah man that's crazy, definitely people are crazy if they associate these things w their corresponding movies. personally, I sit down to watch Kiki's Delivery Service stone-faced as I meditate on the Loss Of Innocence and I don't experience any other parts of the movie. only the serious bits. I don't reblog a single aesthetic gifset from the movie because then that means I would be Missing The Point

Taking this time without PC to read, just finished this manga which had a ghibli movie based on it! While I think the movie had nicer visual depictions of everything and some nice scenes that the manga could've benefitted from, the manga tells its story better and I'm glad I took the time to read it cause I really like the movie :>

Somehow, on occasion, Estelle would find herself getting stuck in conversations. Whether it was a vendor in Diagon Alley or someone in the ministry. And for the most part she'd indulge them, allow them to talk her ear off. Today was one of the days the witch would have preferred a more than swift rescue from this rather boring being in front of her, talking to her about some of the latest type of gadget. Whatever she'd need this for in the given or any other moment.

Eyes on the vendor in front of her she still found herself drifting, glancing around for any soul that would be kind enough to rescue her from this seemingly more than dense individual. "Well as that may be, I don't see why I'd be needing this right now." And she truly didn't, but before she could say more, more words were launched her way. Some people clearly didn't seem to get the idea.
