#like a couple hours after missy when shes alone in her room

Coming off the fae thing, realised something often underutilised with Missy is the Master’s hypnotism/mental influence etc. ((not writing your story obv. but just imagined missy pulling this with yaz, but deliberately laying it on thick enough to notice, then yaz realising 13 has 100% used this to win arguments with her before lol))
ohhhhhhh my god juicy
i keep calling it telepathy but i think it's a little more than that but ive got missy in yaz's brain making her see and feel and understand things in multiple scenes in multiple ways, mostly consensual, and mostly making it deliberately obvious so yaz notices bc thats part of the game; 'yasmin look at me poking your brain imagine what more i could do with this power' but i hadnt thought of yaz then actually imagining what more she could do with that power and turning to 13 like wait a minute. missed an opportunity to make 13 worse dammit
you dont mind if i try to find a way to still get this in somewhere do you?
thinking out loud now feel free to tune out but 13's disadvantage here is that im pretty sure missy can get in someone's brain and move stuff around and get out and never be noticed. she makes herself noticeable to yaz. i dont think doctor headbutt telepathy can do it unnoticed. if she has been doing this for two seasons then the only reasons she hasnt been caught is because
1) the fam probably wouldnt think to blame something outside of themself when they did something that confused them or when they change their mind about something and then later go 'wait why did i change my mind, i change my mind back' or when their memories go a bit wonky
and 2) if it did get egregious enough that they would be like 'okay this is definitely not age/illness/trauma/grief, this is something else messing with me' the first thing they would think to blame was something alien, not the doctor. they would be like 'alien parasite' or 'planet that messes with people's heads', you know?
especially because i dont think that before 12x7 she ever gave any indication that she could do something that directly mind controlly? not 100% sure on that though
#thinking about what it would look like#i dont think i'd make yaz confront 13 about it#i think it'd be a quiet sort of delayed realisation#like a couple hours after missy when shes alone in her room#and then suddenly doubting like. 2-3 years of interactions#and then maybe i'd make 13 try to do it again in a fight and /then/ yaz would call it out as it happens#and then you can play with does 13 back off and apologise. back off and deny. or double down#would depend on the circumstances. i think - lets be nice - her first instinct would be to back off and apologise#not apologise as in 'i know what i did was wrong and i wont do it again'#but apologise as in 'i know what i did was wrong and i will definitely do it again if i think i can get away with it'#but i definitely dont think it's impossible that she either denies or doubles down#just drive her a little more into a corner and she would#'did you make me agree with you just now'#'no'#'would i believe you right now if i couldnt still feel your fingers in my brain'#the doctor winces. yaz: 'thought so'. 13: 'no i didnt mean-!'#see the problem im creating here is im not sure if this breaks too much trust#im not sure if it breaks any trust at all actually but im also not sure if putting that lack of trust out in the open like this#makes the relationship unsalvageable. okay not true it does break a little trust#but not a whole lot i think. i dont think yaz would be surprised exactly. unsettled but not surprised i think#and i think she'd have a way to deal with it. especially with what shes been learning with missy. she'd have a framework#which she wouldnt have if she realised this in like s12#'you keep warning me about her but she ASKED doctor. and she LISTENED when i told her not to do it again'#thasmissy

I would love to read about H doing his and bubs daily evening routine. Cuddling, changing/bathing the baby, feeding 😭 just dad h in his natural element
7:30 is Delaney’s wake up time - perhaps she has some sort of biological clock telling her to wake up at half-past-seven on the dot, but she never fails to. Toddles out of bed, bare feet padding on the hardwood lining her bedroom floor and the hallway as she pushes her door open, sweaty palms slipping on the doorknob. She’s generally told not to go into yours and Harry’s room when the door is closed (there have been just a few too many near-incidents where she’s nearly walked in on you two to the point where you feel a rule needs to be established) but her sleepy mind tends to forget the rule in the morning -
You give her a free pass to barge in on you two in the morning. You’re usually still asleep, anyway, and you’re not sure how many more years you’ll have of feeling the bed dip as she plops down between you and Harry.
“Mornin’, bub,” groans Harry hardly a moment after Delaney has sat between the two of you, pajama pants riding up enough to expose her ankles as she leans forward to rest her head on Harry’s hipbone just as you begin to stir beside her. “How’d you sleep, hmm?”
“Good,” says the 3 year old, reaching a palm up to brush loose curls out of her eyes as Harry pushes himself to sit up, hooking his arms beneath Delaney’s armpits to lift her onto his lap. She curls into his chest immediately, forehead resting on his shoulder. “M’hungry, daddy.”
Just as every morning goes, the baby monitor resting on Harry’s bedside table crackles out a few weak noises - the sounds of your newborn daughter stirring in her sleep, a soft whine escaping her throat through the small device. She tends to wake up around the same time as Delaney (likely due to her older sister’s noisy trip down the hallway to yours and Harry’s room) and you know you only have a few minutes until she starts crying with either a full diaper or hunger or both.
Harry reaches a hand to your face, brushing your hair off of your cheek as you slowly open your eyes, smiling once your eyes meet your husband’s and beginning to push yourself to sit when you see Delaney’s toothy grin. “Good morning, sweetheart,” is your go-to morning greeting to your daughter, and she leans down, Harry’s arm wrapped around her stomach, to press her lips to the side of your cheek. “Do you want me to get the baby?”
“I’ve got her,” Harry says without a moment of hesitation, already pushing himself up more, legs swinging over the edge of the bed. He’s taken on a significant portion of morning and middle-of-the-night routines (excluding feedings) now that the baby has come, opting to give you even just a few moments more of rest before having to start your day. His sweatpants hang low on his hips, shirt long discarded the night before on the carpet. “Gotta go make this one breakfast, right?”
Delaney nods, legs wrapping around Harry’s torso when he stands, arm hooked beneath her bum to keep her tight to him. You give him a small smile when he turns to look at you, and you let your eyes shut for another few moments of sleep as he leaves your bedroom, shutting the door softly behind him.
Maude is awake and grumpy when Harry makes his way to her room, pushing open the door gently and instructing Delaney to be extra super silent with a soft shh to the toddler in his arms. The side of her crib is pushed down with minimal effort, dipping down to scoop the newborn into his arm, watching as her face contorts from anger to a brief look of happiness at seeing her father before it turns back to anger, and Harry frowns.
“Laney, babe,” Harry whispers, making sure not to speak too loudly as to make Maude angrier - an angry Maude is a crying Maude, and a crying Maude is an awake wife. “If I put y’down, d’you wanna go an’ wait in the kitchen so I can change your sister’s diaper?”
Delaney isn’t thrilled with the proposition of leaving Harry’s arms but more than that she hates seeing her sister upset or, God forbid, hearing her cry with a full diaper, so she nods, pushing her curls out of her face again as Harry bends down to deposit her on the floor. Her feet tap loudly against the floor as she waddles out of the room, and a few moments later Harry hears her beginning her descent down the stairs.
“Alright, missy,” Harry says, then, to the newborn baby nestled in his arms. “Time t’change your diaper, hmm?”
He still feels a wave of emotion looking down at her, even when she looks as upset as she does now, remembering that, this time last month, she hadn’t been with them - had been restless in your stomach, instead, kicking at all hours of the day in a way that’s reminiscent of her fussy demeanor now. Having two instead of one is something entirely different, more difficult yet twice as magical, and he feels tears prickling his eyes as he lies her on the changing table. Fingers reach down to undo the clasps of her onesie, pudgy legs kicking and arms reaching up to stretch.
Diaper changed - pajamas changed to one of the outfits Gemma had bought the baby, though it’s still a bit big around her limbs - grabbing a spare hair tie from the guest bathroom - and Harry’s picking Maude back up into his arms, rocking her lightly as he shuts her bedroom door and heads downstairs to the kitchen. Delaney’s seated firmly on her chair, legs swinging back and forth as she rests her head in her arms, humming softly beneath her breath.
“What d’you want t’eat, Laney?” questions Harry, running his fingers through Delaney’s messy curls once he’s close enough to reach. “Waffles? Eggs?”
“Eggs, daddy.”
“What’s the magic word?”
“Please, daddy.”
“Good girl,” Harry nods, grinning down at his daughter just as Maude’s flailing leg jabs him in the abdomen - he looks down at the baby, humming softly. “Gonna get your pillow, hmm? Your boppy pillow?”
“I’ll take her,” says a voice from behind him, and your husband turns to see you coming down the stairs, hand trailing down the railing as you make your way to the kitchen, slippers masking the sounds of your feet on the floor. “She’s hungry, love.”
“You’re supposed t’be sleepin’-”
“I was sleeping,” you interrupt him, taking Maude from his grasp once you’re close enough, and he ducks down to press a kiss to your lips, hand reaching around to press to the small of your back through your shirt. Well - his shirt, technically, but it’s been yours since you got too big for your sleep shirts when you were pregnant with Delaney. “She’s hungry, Har - nothing you can do to fix it when I’ve got the goods.”
Your husband laughs at that as you hold Maude to your chest with one arm, using the other to pull out the chair beside Delaney, leaning down to kiss the top of her head as you lift your shirt, ducking Maude’s head beneath the fabric so her lips can grasp onto your boob. “Good morning, baby,” you say again, and she smiles as Harry begins bustling with getting the eggs out of the refrigerator and turning on the stove. “Did you dream well?”
“Mhm,” says Delaney, head nodding up and down firmly. “We went on a roller coaster - the one at the park - the big one, mommy.”
“Did you? Was it fun?”
“It was fun,” she confirms, drumming her palms against the kitchen table. “Can we go to it? Please?”
You elect not to mention that she can hardly ride the kid roller coasters at the amusement park, let alone the tallest one there. “Maybe in the summer. How’s that sound?”
“Fun!”
“Yeah, fun.”
Within the next couple of minutes Harry has finished cooking the eggs, setting a portion in front of Delaney with the small fork she prefers to use and then a plate in front of you, piled high with eggs.
“God, Har,” you laugh, thumb brushing against Maude’s cheek when she pulls away from your chest with a soft breath, exhaling against your skin. “I can’t eat all of this.”
“Y’should,” he tells you, standing behind Delaney as she digs into her eggs. His hands go down to her hair, messy and frizzy from sleep, and his fingers pull the strands lightly into a ponytail, tying it at the back of her scalp with the hair tie he’d brought from upstairs. “Gonna make toast, too. Y’want toast, Laney?”
“Yes, please.”
“Good manners, babe,” you applaud Delaney, smiling when she grins, satisfied with your praise, before you turn back to Harry. “I’ll try my best. Can’t promise anything.”
He scoffs at that, shaking his head as he turns to dig through the cabinets until he’s found the cinnamon swirl bread that both you and Delaney love. “Can’t promise - you’re somethin’ else.”
You hum softly, tugging your shirt down over your chest and back from over Maude’s head, the baby’s cheek pressed against your shoulder as you lift her to burp. “Just make the breakfast, Har.”
“M’doin’ it!”

Georgie Cooper x Reader
Summary: To appease his worried mother, Sheldon employs the techniques of a self-help book to try and make a friend.
Warnings: None
AN: I plan to write a new chapter once a week. It may change at the end of the school year. On the other hand, I tried to add more to the story. I hope you guys like it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N's Pov
I am walking to lunch, and when I round the corner, I see Mary and George looking through the lunchroom window and talking to each other. I make a confused face while listening in on their conversation. "Look at him. It breaks my heart," Mary says sadly. "Poor little guy. Sitting all alone", George says sadly while responding to Mary's comment. "I don't know why his brother or even Y/N can't sit with him. Actually, Where is Y/N. I don't see her anywhere."
"I'm right here," I say, spooking Mary and George before continuing with, "Also, I tried to sit with Sheldon on his first day, and he said it would be best for me to sit with people who have the same intellect as me. I found that rude because he meant Georgie, and I am so much smarter than Georgie. Anyways, Georgie doesn't sit with him because he says In school, they don't know each other". I look between Georgie and Sheldon, then look at my godparents. "Yeah, come on Mary, when you were in high school would you have lunch with a nine-year-old," George asked Mary. "Yes, I would have," Mary responded. "Well, there is something wrong with you." I took George's words as a sign to leave.
"Well, I'm... gonna... go," I told the married couple before heading into the lunchroom to sit with Georgie and our friends. I sat down to Georgie, trying to fit as many grapes as he can into his mouth. "Fourteen," he yelled out while all of Georgie's friends cheered him on. Georgie spits them all out before turning to me. "What did you think," Georgie asked me, trying to get my opinion on his 'cool' trick. "Georgie, if I wanted to see you stuff your mouth, I would just wait till dinner. In other words, not that interesting," I told my best friend. Georgie replied with a sad "oh" before going back to talking with his friends. I went back to finishing my newest sketch of a finch.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Georgie and I walked into the house. "Georgie, would you do me a tiny little favor," Mary asked Georgie while he was getting a drink out of the fridge. I sat with the girl I thought of as a little sister before saying hi. Georgie responded back with a "like what" before Mary asked Georgie to sit with Sheldon. I already told Mary why I don't sit with Sheldon. Missy with her smart remarks told Georgie, "Don't do it. I ate with him in second grade, it really hurt my social life." Georgie walked off while replying to Mary with a "No thanks". I kicked Missy under the table, then gave her a 'seriously' look. I shook my head and followed Georgie to 'help' him with his homework, which was more like do his work.
I don't follow Georgie because I'm his lost puppy. I follow Georgie to help him. Without me, Georgie would grow up to be a homeless man with great hair. I am basically Georgie's Guardian angel.
"Georgie, why do I always end up doing your homework? At this point, I don't even think you know how to read. Those magazines are just for show, and you know it. You probably only look at the pictures," I said to Georgie while sitting on his bed doing our geometry homework. "Aw, come on Y/N, don't you know that you're the smartest out of both of us. Without you, I would probably still be in the 5th grade. You were right about something though, those books are for looking, but I can read you." I roll my eyes at Georgie's comment before looking down and smiling.
I admit I might have a bit of a crush on Georgie but we're best friends, and how could I ever compare those girls in his magazine. If I tell Georgie that I like him, that could ruin our friendship, and that would be weird because we live together. So, I just stick to being his best friend. That way our friendship isn't ruined and I can still be as close to him as I can.
"Well I finished your homework and it's 10 o'clock, so I guess this is it. Have a good night," I said before heading out.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Georgie's POV
Y/N walked out of my room. I felt sad because she was gone. We talk all day, she does my homework, and we have practiced together, but I still miss her. "Maybe I like her," I mumble to myself while laying down staring at the ceiling. "Naw, that can't be," I said. I shut off my light and fell asleep.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N's POV
I was leaving my art class when I see Sheldon talking to one of the cheerleaders. It's weird to be seeing Sheldon interacting with people without them running off and crying. It interested me so much I decided to listen in.
"Go wolves," Sheldon said in a monotone voice. Jessica closed her locker confused. Sheldon responded back to Jessica with, "You're a cheerleader, and by saying "Go Wolves" I'm initiating a conversation about something that interests you." "Oh, are you one of those special ed kids," Jessica asked still trying to understand what was happening. The older sister part of me kinda felt angry that she said that, but on the other hand she was talking to Sheldon. "My mom says I'm special. Would you like to be friends" Sheldon asks. She tells him, no, but Sheldon keeps going, "Are you sure? What if I told you I admired your boldly-applied makeup?" Jessica walks off offended.
I walk up to Sheldon frantically and say, "Sheldon, you can't say mean things like that. I'm at the top of the pyramid today, and Jessica is right underneath me." "Oh, I didn't know what I said was offensive. I thought that I was complimenting her," Sheldon says. "Well, just try not to insult people. If you don't know what to say, don't say anything to them." Sheldon replies with an "alright" before walking away from me. I watch Sheldon go before heading to my next class.
I got to my next class and I sat down beside Georgie. "I just ran into Sheldon trying to make friends," I told Georgie while I get the stuff I need for class out of my backpack. "I feel bad for whoever had to put up with Sheldon. That boy is not one for making friends," Georgie responds to my comment. "Well, I think it's cute, but I feel bad because he didn't make one friend." "You sound like my mom," Georgie says. I glare at Georgie. The teacher walks in and starts the class.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hear Mary yelling about how Sheldon made a friend. I felt happy for him. I feel like Sheldon would really benefit from having a friend. I mean, I have Georgie, and we're inseparable.
I also heard Sheldon ask if he can start his rocketry hobby again with his new friend and I dipped. The last time he launched a rocket he killed a family of squirrels and my eyebrows. I wanted to bond with Sheldon so I helped him with his rocket.
I went downstairs to watch tv with Missy. She was watching DuckTales. "I'm surprised you're not with Georgie," Missy comments as I sit down with her. I roll my eyes and say, "Georgie isn't my whole life. I talked to Sheldon earlier, and now I just want to hang out with you. Sheldon has a new friend now, I have Georgie, but I feel like you don't have anyone to hang out with. So, what do you say tomorrow I take you to get your nails done." Missy's eyes go wide and she excitedly shouts, "Yes, I'm gonna go tell mom!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After school, Missy and I went to get our nails done.
(Missy's Nails)
(Y/N's Nails)
When Missy and I got home Mary told us that Sheldon's friend was coming over. Missy and I sat down to talk and watch tv. There was a knock at the door, and that set Mary off. "He's here," she yelled. "Everybody, stay calm! Just a normal day, just a normal dinner," she continued. Missy asks if she and I can eat in front of the TV, which obviously didn't end well.
We're all sitting at the dinner table, except for Mary, when George starts asking Tam, questions. George makes it weird when he asked Tam if his mom was named Kim-lee. Me and Georgie look at each other with a cringed look.
Georgie releases us from the weird vibes when he asks Tam, "So, Vietnam, like in Rambo." Tam responds with a "yes" and then Georgie continues with, "That's a cool movie." Georgie asks Tam if he's in Rambo and I look at him and elbow him in the ribs. Georgie says, "oww, what was that for" before Tam tells him "no". Sheldon brings the conversation back to George's comment, but it is cut off by Mary serving dinner.
We learned a lot about Tam's family and life. It was very interesting. Georgie said a couple more stupid things, which earned him a few more elbows to the ribs.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was in my room, getting ready for bed. Georgie walks in and sits on my bed.
(Y/N's Room)
(Y/N's PJ's)
"How was the day with my sister," Georgie asks me. I sign for Georgie to get off the bed and say, "We had fun. After our nails, we went to Dairy Queen and got a blizzard. I think Missy and I really needed today, you know." Georgie helps me make my bed and continues the conversation, "I missed you today." "Is Georgie Cooper jealous? Georgie Cooper didn't have someone to do his homework and now he's sad," I said mocking Georgie. Georgie grows a sad look on his face and says, "No, I missed my best friend. Not the girl that does my homework, or the girl that helps me clean my room. I miss the girl I talk to for hours. The girl that makes me feel special compared to the rest of my family. I miss that girl and that girl is you."
"Wow, that was deep for a kid that went a couple of hours without seeing me, but I know how you feel. Missy and Sheldon don't know how to do the things we do. I almost made Missy cry by insulting her earlier. I think I hang around boys too much," I say getting ready to lay down. Georgie climbs into the bed with me and we silently talk for the rest of the night.

Making Moves (Marcus Moreno x f!Reader)
Summary: Your neighborhood superhero, Marcus Moreno, is being nagged by his daughter to find love. Lucky for him, just the right woman moves in down the street.
W/C: 2.7k
Warnings: language, brief talks of death (just to refer to Marcus’s wife who passed away), brief mentions of sexual stuff. it’s tame.
A/N: THIS WAS SO FUN. I love some good Marcus Moreno. He’s such a cutie and these prompts made it so fun! You can still send me prompts from this list with a character, just mind the taken ones! p.s. my emotional support Brit @maxlordsgf see how I used patio/backyard??
The Moreno household was cozy. You wondered if it was Marcus who’d decorated the beautiful home, or if his late wife. You supposed it didn’t matter. You would’ve liked the former Mrs. Moreno, if Marcus could love her like he did.
He lived a few houses down from you. You’d moved in a couple of months ago, into the nice Craftsman style home you currently rented. The best thing about the house was the beautiful front porch, which exposed the lovely suburban neighborhood. The porch had come with a swing, and you’d decided that it’d have to be your new morning coffee spot. After all, this is California, where the sun was plentiful and the air was just cold enough to be refreshing in the mornings.
The time that you drank your coffee on the porch also happened to be the time that your neighborhood Heroic, Marcus, went for his morning runs. He’d been excited to see that the house was sold, and Missy was too. They planned on bringing over some sweets once you were settled. Several weeks after the sold sign went up, he saw you for the first time.
You looked like an angel, he thought. You wore a fuzzy robe with patterned capri pajama pants peeking from beneath it. Your glasses rested on the bridge of your nose, slightly fogged from the steam of your coffee. You sat on your porch swing, knees pulled to your chest, reading from your tablet. He was immediately caught off-guard. Your new home was at the beginning of his running path, but his breath was already gone from his lungs from your beauty.
Pushing his own glasses up his nose, he gave you a little wave as you looked up. You’d smiled at him, a grin with your teeth visible. The man was handsome, you’d noticed. Dark hair, a little scruff, eyes that scrunched when he smiled at you. He was fit, too, his muscles evident beneath his tight t-shirt and running shorts. He kept running, unsure what he could say to you.
Marcus returned home some thirty minutes later to find Missy awake. “Hey, the new neighbor moved in,” he told her as he walked to the counter, pouring himself a cup of coffee.
“Ooh, tell me all about them.”
“Well, we didn’t talk. I still don’t know if it’s a family or anything,” he admitted. “But there was a woman sitting on the porch.”
Missy’s eyes lit up. “How old?”
Marcus shook his head. “I don’t know, muñeca,” he told her and kissed her head as he walked past her to sit at the table.
“Old enough to date?” she asked, raising an eyebrow and stuffing her mouth full of cereal. “Did she seem single?”
“Stay out of it,” he teased her and poked her forehead, right between the eyes.
She flinched back a bit but laughed. “Dad, come on.”
He shook his head. “We can bring over a housewarming gift tonight, huh? Then we can see.” -
Well, it turned out that night was too busy to do so for the Morenos.
You saw him the next morning as he ran past again. You wore different pajamas but sat in the same position. You’d waved back.
That’s how the next couple mornings went for the two of you. Every day, Marcus could swear you looked prettier. With you looking like that in your pajamas, he couldn’t imagine how beautiful you’d be at any other time.
Finally, Friday night, he and Missy put on some music and got to baking.
“What does she look like?” Missy asked curiously as she cracked an egg into the bowl- she’d learned the hard way that her father was not to be trusted with egg duty.
Marcus described you to his daughter, his eyes far off and a small smile on his face. “She’s very pretty.”
“Well, duh. You’re simping over her, of course she is.”
“What’s a simp?” He’d asked, brow furrowing.
-
The knock came an hour or two later. You’d gotten home from work an hour or so earlier, so you were in relaxed clothing, the remnants of your makeup on your face.
Behind the door stood the handsome runner you saw every morning, and a miniature, carbon-copied version of him with longer hair and more feminine features. “Hi! We’re the Morenos. We live in the blue house down the street. I’m Missy, and this is my dad, Marcus,” she introduced herself cheerfully. She held a tray of brownies. He held a bouquet.
“We just wanted to welcome you to the neighborhood,” the man- Marcus- says with a warm smile on his face.
“Oh, thank you!” You grinned and took the tray Missy held out. “Well, come in, please,” you invite them. “Do you drink, Marcus? I was just having some wine. Oh, and Missy, I have some soda if you’d like that.”
The three of you sat in your half-constructed living room for a while and chatted. You learned about the former Mrs. Moreno and how she’d passed a few years ago. You shared that you were living alone and single, due to a bad breakup that led you to move here. The two were good company, you learned quickly, bantering back and forth more like siblings than a father and daughter.
As they stood up to leave, you apologized for the mess. “Sorry. I’ve been trying to hook up my TV lately, and I haven’t done anything else yet. I want to get the TV up first, but I’m practically useless with electronic stuff,” you admitted with a chuckle.
“Oh, Dad is great with electronics,” Missy told you with a grin.
“Not great. Competent would be a better word,” he chuckled. “I could help you set it up, if you’d like that.”
“I would, if it’s not too much trouble.”
“No trouble at all. Here, we can exchange numbers, you can text me when you’d like me to come over,” he offered and pulled out his phone.
“Sure,” you said and told him your number, which he enters into his phone and sends you a text. “Perfect,” you nodded and saved his phone number. “I’ll see you two soon, hopefully.”
They said goodbye and you heard Missy giggling as the door shut behind him. It’s muffled, but you thought you can hear Missy anyway: “That was smooth, Dad!”
-
That was months ago now. You’d developed a relationship with the both of them, visiting each others’ houses often for dinner or just to chat.
When summer rolled around, Missy invited you over for days at their pool. You two had enjoyed yourselves, Marcus playing the role of your butler for the day, serving you mocktails and teasing his daughter. It became a common occurrence during the summer. You even had a reverse day on Marcus’s birthday (July 12th) where Missy served the two of you. It was almost like a date. That was the day you both realized you’d fallen hard for the other.
As much as you spent time with Marcus, the girl positively adored you, and always sent you texts from her father’s phone.
We’re having pizza tonight! Wanna come over?
Dad says he sucks at math. Can you help me with my homework?
My friends canceled on me. Are you free to eat Ben and Jerry’s and watch Mamma Mia with me?
You’d become like a mother figure to her, helping her when she got her first period, taking her shopping for middle-school dances, giving her boy advice.
Marcus liked you just as much, if not more. You liked him too. He was a funny man, kindhearted and warm. He’d listen to you talk when you’d had a shitty day, bring over a bottle of wine when he needed some comfort, cook dinner for the two of you when Missy was at Anita’s.
One night, you’re eating dinner with them on their patio. It’s nice, overlooking their backyard and their pool. Missy is going to a friend’s later, to sleep over, but Marcus had cooked food for the three of you on the grill, something you’d learned he was fantastic at, and you’re inside getting more food. The door is slightly cracked, and you can hear the two of them talking.
“Dad. You have to make your move, and you gotta do it tonight! Otherwise, she’ll go for Kent a couple doors down. You don’t want that, do you?” she asks in a hushed voice.
“It’s not that easy, muñeca. I’m so in love with her I don’t know what to do.”
Your heart catches in your chest, fluttering. Marcus likes you. Not only that, he’s in love with you. The past few months race through your head, and you hyper-analyze every little interaction the two of you have had. It’s clear now, in hindsight. You swallow hard, putting back down the skewer of vegetables.
He’s been the only thing on your mind the past few weeks, you have to admit. Your visits to each others’ homes had increased, with you spending more and more nights a week at the Morenos’. His laugh makes your stomach flutter as Missy says something else to him outside. You bite your lip. Tonight’s the night. If he doesn’t make his move like Missy insisted, you’ll do it first.
The conversation is light for the rest of dinner, and you’re a bit detached. Marcus can tell, but he doesn’t comment on it. You simply stare out into their pool, listening to Missy ramble on about the plans that she and her friends have for tonight.
A while later, her friends’ parents pick her up. You stand in the driveway and wave a thank-you to the girl’s parents as they drive off with Missy and her friend in tow. “Love you guys,” she shouts out of the window. You grin and shout it back, in sync with Marcus.
The two of you return to the backyard. You walk a little farther apart from Marcus than normal. “Hey,” he says and stands right next to you, his shoulder nudging yours. “What’s wrong? You’ve been off all night,” he mumbles softly.
You shake your head. “It’s nothing, really,” you chuckle, looking down at your feet.
Marcus is oblivious to the fact that you heard the two of them earlier. You and Marcus have always had a playful relationship, and the idea strikes him to help cheer you up. “Hey, vecina.”
“What- ah!” You squeal as Marcus lifts you in his strong arms. He walks the two of you to the side of the pool as you wriggle in his grip, laughing. “Goddamnit, Marcus! Let go of me!” You screech as he holds you over the pool, though you’re giggling the whole time.
“Not until you tell me what’s wrong,” he laughs, your feet kicking as they dangle over the chlorinated water.
“No, you asshole!” You laugh, wriggling. “Put me down, Moreno, or God help your poor soul when I-”
He sets you down on the edge, backing up a bit. “There, fine. Just trying to help,” he teases. He did, he thinks to himself. You’re smiling again.
You’re painfully close to him. Your hands find his hips and he looks down at your hands in confusion as you pat the pockets of his shorts. No phone. Perfect. There’s a devilish grin as you wrap him in a bear hug and fall backwards into the pool, taking him with you.
You let go once you’re underwater, shooting up to the surface from under him and laughing. He comes up moments later, wiping his eyes and pushing his hair back. Your laugh is maniacal and loud, completely content and proud of yourself. “There, I cheered you up at least,” he shakes his head and smiles. He walks to the shallower end of the pool, and you follow.
“I wasn’t in a bad mood,” you shoot back.
“Well, something was off. Will you tell me now?” He asks, your eyes wandering to his- oh, he’s ripped, goddamn- abs beneath his wet t-shirt. His eyes remained trained on yours, ever the gentleman.
Swallowing hard, you nod and walk closer to him with a smile. “I heard you and Missy when I was inside getting more food,” you tell him, biting on your lip to hold back an excited giggle.
His brows furrow in confusion then lift in surprise as it hits him. “Oh.”
“Yeah,” you nod, wading a little closer and then even closer. You can hear his heavy breathing and look into those big brown eyes with a grin.
“Well, I-” he starts stammering, unsure of what to say, until you place your hands on his shoulders.
“It’s okay, Marcus,” you mumble soothingly, your arms wrapping around his neck. “I know you said it’s not that easy. Why don’t you let me take the reins then, hm?” You ask teasingly, bringing your face close to his.
He grins, taking the opportunity as he sees it. His lips crash to yours happily, his hands finding your waist over your sopping wet clothing. You smile softly against his lips. They’re so soft and warm, the very lips you’ve been staring at for a long time, imagining this. He’s gentle but loving and you deepen it. He follows immediately, parting his lips against yours and he sighs into your mouth.
The two of you stand there, in his pool, making out, for quite a while. Finally, when he breaks away, looking at you through his water-drop-stained glasses, you grin. “This is your fault, you know. I’m gonna have to go home and change into dry clothing.”
“Or you could borrow some of mine,” he offers with a shy smile, and you grin.
“That works too.”
He kisses you one more time. “Will you stay the night? We don’t even have to… to do anything. I don’t even really want to yet. I just want to keep holding on to you.”
You nod and kiss him softly, for just a moment. “Of course I will.” -
You awaken in the morning to the smell of cooking. You live alone, and it makes your brow furrow in confusion, eyes still shut, until they open and you find yourself in Marcus’ home. His bed, specifically.
You smell like chlorine and your hair is damp still, but you’re wearing a big black sweater that smells like detergent and cologne and sleep. It’s Marcus’s, you realize with a smile.
Last night was truly perfect. No, you didn’t sleep with him yet, but it was still perfectly intimate, the way you held each other and whispered sweet words and pressed soft kisses all over each others’ faces and torsos. You’d made out for a fair amount of time too, just like teenagers again, but it was meaningful.
You pad down the stairs, wearing just your underwear and one of Marcus’s big sweaters. He’s cooking breakfast in the kitchen, and your heart melts as you see him. “Good morning, superhero,” you coo as you wrap your arms around him from behind and press a kiss into his neck.
His body warms and melts into your touch. “Good morning, beautiful. How did you sleep?”
“Amazing. Your bed is insanely comfortable,” you chuckle and snuggle in against him, resting your head against his back.
“I’m glad. Go sit down, breakfast will be ready in a bit.”
You nod and do exactly that, sitting across the kitchen island from him. He puts some pancakes on a plate, drizzles them with syrup, and slides it to you. “Bon appetit.”
“Thank you,” you grin and waste no time in cutting into them with a fork and taking a bite.
You sigh happily and Marcus’s heart can barely take the sight of it. “I can’t get over how a few months ago I wanted to learn your name and now you’re having breakfast with me in my sweater.”
“I can’t get over how cute you are,” you tease and pop another bite in your mouth. “The good news is that you can get over it, because I’m coming over here for breakfast in your clothes every day now.”
“Or you could live here.”
The proposal is so quiet, so sudden and nonchalant that it takes you aback for a minute. “What?”
He shrugs. “I know we’ve only been together for, what, 10 hours now, but Missy and I both adore you. You’re over here all the time anyway. Why don’t you? Save us both some money, too.”
You bite your lip to hold back a grin. “I might have to think about it.”
He nods. “I get that, I-“
“Done thinking. I’ll do it,” you grin happily.
“Really?”
“Really,” you nod, giggling excitedly.
Marcus leans across the kitchen counter and kisses you softly. “Be prepared for a lot of Moreno loving. Missy’s a cuddler.”
“I think I can take it,” you smile and press another kiss to his lips, with all of the love in your heart.

Don’t wanna miss a thing
Birthday song challenge for @din-damn-djarin (prompt 37)
Marcus Moreno x widowed f!reader, Missy Moreno & reader
1999 words
summary & warnings: Just days before your wedding to Marcus, your emotions are going a bit haywire. Starts angsty but turns fluffy I promise! Themes of loss and grief, loss of a spouse/family member
Sobbing in the bathtub a couple of days before your wedding was not where you thought this evening was going, but here you were. Bawling your eyes out. You had just meant to take a quick shower to freshen up before bed, as your day had been mostly filled with last minute preparations and you were sweaty from hauling around decorations. Maybe not hiring a wedding planner had been a mistake, in more ways than one.
“Honey? You in there?” Marcus’ voice sounded after a hesitant knock on the bathroom door. You knew you should answer him, but you just didn’t have the strength to at this moment.
“Sweetheart?” He tried again, and you could hear the worry in his tone and it only made you feel worse.
“I’m coming in.” Marcus warned after another two minutes or so. It was endearing how considerate he was of your privacy even though you’d told him it was okay to come into the bathroom with you on numerous occasions. If you really didn’t want anyone to come in you’d lock the door and he was the man you were going to marry in less than 48 hours.
The door creaked open and Marcus padded across the bathmat, slowly pulling aside the shower curtain.
“Darling?” Hesitantly, he reached out his hand to you, gently nudging your shoulder. Still sobbing, you gripped it and held it to your face, kissing his palm between tears and hoping he’d understand. Even if you didn’t.
“Is this about Sean?” He asked softly, thumb caressing your cheekbone. You nodded. Marcus sighed; he hated seeing you upset. Just like Sean had. Marcus nudged your chin up and pressed a kiss to your forehead, not caring that the water got on his glasses.
“If you want to be alone for a bit longer that’s alright, but please let me get you out of the shower? You’re shivering.”
It was true enough. The water had gone cold a while ago and now, taking stock of your body you realized you were freezing. You nodded and let Marcus help you up and wrap you in the big fluffy towels he’d bought the two of you as a house-warming gift when you’d moved in together. You leaned on him as he dried you off, suddenly exhausted from your outburst of emotion. You let him help you dress yourself in your fluffiest pyjamas, the shivers slowly subsiding when he pulled your extra fluffy socks onto your feet.
“Okay?” He asked, kneeling on the ground between your feet while you were sitting on your shared bed. You nodded absently, catching his hand and bringing it up to your face. The tears had stopped but the deep sadness lingered.
“Please stay?” You whispered. He kissed your knee, then your free hand.
“I’ll just tell Missy good night, okay?”
A noise from the hallway drew your attention. Missy stood in the doorframe like summoned, and your heart broke at her anxious expression.
“Hey bunny.” You tried to smile, but it didn’t quiet reach your eyes. Missy looked between you and Marcus in concern, her lip starting to quiver.
“Bunny, what is it?” You patted the space next to you, inviting her to sit. After a look at her father, she rushed over, instantly wrapping her arms around you. You exchanged a worried glance with Marcus, and he rose to sit down at his daughter’s other side.
“What’s wrong, bunny? You know you can tell me.” You coaxed again, your own undefined sorrows forgotten in face of her obvious anguish.
“Diyouchangeyourmindaboutthewedding?” It rushed out of her in one breath and she clung to you harder. You hugged her back, squeezing her smaller frame tightly and caressing her hair.
“Oh sweetie, no! Why would you think that?”
“Cuz I heard you crying and-“ she hiccupped a sob into your shoulder, her voice small when she continued. “Please don’t leave us!”
“Oh bunny!” Your own eyes were starting to water again. “I won’t! I won’t ever leave you! You two are my whole world!”
You squeeze her tightly to you, feel Marcus’ arms enveloping you both and look up briefly to see how he’s doing with all this. The look on his face is heart-breaking, and you lean over quickly to press a reassuring kiss to his lips.
“Then why are you so upset?” Missy sniffled. You sighed and ordered your thoughts, mad at yourself for causing anguish to this girl you’ve grown to love so much.
“It’s sort of a silly thing really.” You began. “You know how I was married before?”
“Yeah.” You’d taken her to see his grave once, just like Marcus and Missy had taken you to meet the previous Mrs Moreno. It felt only right. “You still miss him?”
“Yes. Yes, I do. I always will, but that’s not what made me cry. It was… I feel guilty for being so happy, with you two. Does that make sense?”
“Yeah…no… I don’t know.” Missy scrunched up her nose in thought. She was a smart girl, very mature for her age, but in the end she was still only a twelve-year-old girl.
“You see, when you lose someone you love very much, that grief never really goes away. Like you still miss your mom, right?”
“Every day.” She sniffled a bit less now, and looked up at her father, who nodded silently. “But I’d miss you, too!”
“I know, bunny.” You kissed her forehead, wanting to soothe her. “You won’t ever have to choose between us. Your mom is your mom and that will never change.”
“I don’t want to have to choose.” Missy whispered, wiping her tears away. “But I still want her back.”
“I know, bunny, I know. I want my husband back all the time, too.” You exchanged another glance with Marcus, glad to see that he understood and let you take the lead in this discussion. It warmed your heart to know how unconditionally he trusted you with his daughter. “It’s so unfair, isn’t it? It makes me so angry sometimes that it happened to me.”
“It does?” Missy’s eyes went wide. She turned to her father to confirm and he nodded, mouthing a soft ‘yeah, me too’ to her.
“The point is, it’s okay to feel all these conflicting things. And sometimes they might overwhelm you, like they did me today, and that’s okay too because I have people who are there for me when that happens.”
“You know you can always talk to me, us, about anything. Or grandma. Or your friends.” Marcus hugged her close and wiped away her tears, like he had yours earlier. “And if that’s not enough we will do anything to help you, okay?”
“Okay.” Missy smiled a watery smile, snuggling into her dad while holding your hand close. The three of you huddled together for a few minutes, giving everyone the chance to settle. Missy, being a kid, bounced back fastest.
“Can we have a movie night?” She looked at you both with the big puppy eyes she had inherited from her father and perfected over the course of her young life. You didn’t even need to look at Marcus to know the answer.
“And what movie were you thinking?”
“Mulan!”
“Okay, you prep the TV, I’ll get on the popcorn.” Marcus prompted, motioning for her to go ahead downstairs. She was out of the room with the speed of lightning.
“You sure that kid doesn’t have any powers? Super speed maybe?”
“Positive. You okay, honey?” He cupped your cheek and looked deep into your eyes, gaze searching.
“Positive. This actually really helped.” You smiled and leaned in for a small kiss. “So, I think we’re not too bad at this parenting thing, huh?”
“Are you kidding? You’re amazing at it!” Marcus hugged you close, kissing your forehead and then your cheek. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
---
The reception was in full swing and everyone was enjoying themselves. There had been no mishaps save for the kind that would make for funny stories later and the cake was almost gone. Almost being the operative word. You were in your seat, relieved to be sitting down for a while and re-braiding Missy’s hair where the decorative ribbons and flowers had come loose during the day. Marcus was weaving his way through the guests back to your table, grinning triumphantly.
“Swiped the last slice of cake while Colin wasn’t looking.” You looked behind him to see Miracle Guy frowning at the now empty cake stand.
“Oh darling, you shouldn’t have!” You protested insincerely. It was your wedding after all. You felt you were entitled to some cake.
“He’s already had two!” Marcus put the plate down in front of you and produced some clean cutlery from his pocket. “Besides, anything for my girls.”
“Awww, you’re the best husband and dad!” You pulled him in by his bowtie to press a kiss to his lips.
“Gross.” Missy commented, snatching up one of the small fancy forks and starting to dig in. The two of you paid her no mind, too engrossed in your new marital bliss. You took turns feeding each other cake in between kisses and whispering sweet things, but really Missy got most of it. You didn’t even notice the band switching to a new song. Or the announcement they had made just before that, apparently. At least not until Anita planted herself right in front of your table and brought her cane down hard on the ground.
“You two! Stop canoodling! It’s time for your dance!”
“Mom!” Marcus whined, mostly for show as he was already pulling his tux jacket back on in the same motion, then holding his hand out to you. “May I have this dance, Mrs Moreno?”
“Gladly, Mr Moreno.” You smiled and rose, letting him lead you to the middle of the dancefloor. The band had been stuck playing an intro to your chosen song for several long moments now and launched into it one last time as you took your positions. Aerosmith – I don’t wanna miss a thing. Your song. Marcus took your hand, smiling softly, and when the vocalists started so did you, twirling around the dancefloor. You felt like you were floating, a moment of near perfect happiness.
“I love you so much.” You mouthed to Marcus as he led you across the dancefloor, his hand warm at your waist. He smiled, spun you out and then reeled you back in, closer this time to press a kiss to your temple.
“I love you.” The song ended and you paused for a moment to receive the applause from your guests. The band faded into another song and people started filling the floor around you while you swayed in place for a moment.
“You know, there’s only one thing missing.”
Marcus’s brow furrowed. “What’s that?”
You nodded towards the table where Missy was still sitting, chin in her hands and looking out towards the dancefloor, a picture both wistful and yet a little forlorn. You waved to get her attention, then motioned for her to join you two once that was accomplished. She started, her brow furrowing in the exact same adorable way as her father, then stood hesitantly.
“Come on, bunny!” You called, letting go of Marcus just enough to make space for her. Her whole face lit up and she came running over, long hair swooshing after her. She all but crashed into the two of you, throwing one arm around your waist and the other around Marcus.
“Wanna dance?” You smiled at her, drawing her as close as the volume of your skirt allowed for a little side hug.
“Yes!” She exclaimed, already starting to sway to the music. Marcus surreptitiously wiped at his eyes before hugging the both of you close. It took you all a moment to adjust your footing, but you managed it soon enough. This was truly, absolutely perfect. You could stay lost in this moment forever.

author’s note: I started this whole thing over like five times, with different concepts and characters, and somehow landed on this. It turned more into bonding with Missy than the pairing, but hey. Hope you’ll still enjoy it.
and yes, I named Miracle Guy Colin. He just looks like a Colin to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

from me, the moon
word count: 1.7k
warnings: angst
*female reader x marcus*
He loved you with all his heart. And it terrified you.
You were both nineteen, in the prime of your youth, having only been dating for a year and a bit (one year, two months and eight days he had corrected you once) when you had come home to your modest, tiny apartment. The lights were turned off and for a split second you were worried that something had happened, something felt off.
Wandering further in, you noticed a flickering light coming from the bedroom and as you slowly pushed the door open, you were met with the sight of Marcus Moreno cursing as he attempted to light another candle, burning his finger when it wouldn't catch aflame.
“Baby?” You almost laughed out loud when he had whipped around, a loud gasp escaping his mouth, dropping the match to the ground. Pointing to the neatly made bed (which hadn't been done in awhile), roses adorning the white duvet and the multiple lit candles around the room, casting a calming light to fill the room. “What’s all this?”
“Mi amor.” He takes a step forward, holding something behind his back. “You weren't supposed to be back for another hour. Is everything okay?”
“Of course. I just managed to get away earlier today- not many customers.” Waving your hand around the room again, you glance your eyes around before looking at Marcus. “What’s the occasion?”
Gently taking ahold of your hand, he leads you to the bed where you sit, expecting him to take a seat beside you but instead he gets down on one knee, revealing what he had hiding behind his back. A ring. It was a simple thing, a golden band with a tiny diamond sparkling in the centre, but it still managed to make your breath hitch and your stomach drop.
“Mi amor, mi vida, I fell in love with you when I first saw you. I fell in love even more when I got to know you and when you somehow managed to agree to be my girlfriend. I would like to spend the rest of my life with you so I want to ask this one thing: will you marry me?”
Bile rises in your throat and your heart beats rapidly as you see the look on his face- hope, fear, love. Tears gather in your eyes as more time passes and he rocks onto the back of his heels, the hand holding the ring faltering slightly as he waits and waits and waits, before it falls to his side.
“Marcus...”
“Please say something baby.” Your heart breaks even more when you see the hopeful emotions on his face fall at your hesitation. “Please just say something. Anything.”
“I can’t,” you croak out as your head falls, tears rolling down your cheeks, avoiding the look of utter heartbreak on his face. “We’re too young, Marcus. We haven't even finished college yet; we don't have a steady pay check; we haven't even been-”
“I know what I feel for you. I know that I love you with all my fucking heart.” He pauses, his voice raw with emotion as he fights back his tears.”Please just say yes.”
~~~
You knew it was cowardly to run away, you know that now, but after explaining to Marcus that you weren't ready to marry him you had packed all your things and left. Avoiding all his texts, calls, attempts at catching you on campus, he eventually gave up and left you alone. It broke your heart.
Years had passed and you both had moved on. He got married, had a kid and moved away while you continued focussing on your job having set up your own business in the city. You were happy for him, really, and you tried to ignore the feeling of jealousy that sprouted in your chest whenever you heard news of him from his mother who you kept in touch with all these years (you figured he wanted nothing to do with you anymore after your rejection).
And that's why you were surprised to receive an invitation from Marie Moreno to come visit them.
The idea of seeing Marcus Moreno again nearly scared you into not going- something which Marie must have sensed when you had called her the day before you were supposed to travel as she made (empty) threats to hit you with her walking stick if you didn't come. It was something that you didn't want to risk.
Standing in front of their door, however, changed your mind and you had almost made it back to the rented car before the door opened and a young girl appeared, a large smile on her face. So this must have been Missy. There was no doubt about it; her dark brown eyes that crinkled at the corners when she smiled, her skin a healthy tanned gold - everything about her proved that she was Marcus’ child.
“It’s so nice to meet you!” She takes a step forward to shake your hand, not letting go. “My abuelita has told me so many stories about you like that one time you went over for dinner and my dad told you a joke so funny that a piece of spaghetti came out of your nose!”
“Of all the stories she has about me, of course she has to tell that one.” You mutter under your breath but the girl managed to still hear it, her smile widening.
“Or there was that one time when-”
“Missy!” A voice calls out from the house and your heart stills as footsteps draw nearer to you. “Do you have everything? We cannot be late to this thing again otherwise Mrs Flanagan is going to have my head on a spi-”
Your heart jumps in your throat when your eyes meet, those brown eyes that you could have stared at for years when resting on his chest as the world around slowly woke up for the day. He looks older, better, a beard adorning his face and a pair of thick framed glasses perching on his nose, but he also looks...the same. His eyes widen and take in the fact that his old girlfriend from his high school days is standing on his front porch.
“Hey.” You wave at him awkwardly with your free hand.
“Um, hello? What- what are you doing here?”
"Marie invited me...she said you knew about this.”
Marcus looks to his daughter for an answer only to be met with a sly smile and gleaming mischievous eyes. He opens his mouth to say something but before he can, a car pulls up on the street and Missy quickly grabs the bags he had dropped at his feet before running to the car. His mother's car.
“Goddamit.” He glances at you, too scared too stare too long and remember. "I'm really sorry about this. Should've known that they were up to something- they've been acting weird these last couple of days."
"It's okay Marcus."
Your laugh is angelic, like hearing an old song again after such a long time, and he tries to ignore the way his heart thumps wildly within his chest and his stomach flips within his stomach. He smiles, clearly lost in his own thoughts and you try to ignore the way your heart speeds up at the gesture and the butterflies in your stomach.
"Would you- do you want to come in?" His offer is tentative but it still means the world to you and you happily nod, moving past him when he takes a step back into the house.
It’s nice, homely, as you take in the framed family pictures lining the hall that leads to the kitchen. You grin at the mess in the kitchen, breakfast plates and bowls littering the counters- he still struggled to fin the time to clean- and he must sense your thoughts as he smiles sheepishly at you, moving to put everything in the sink.
“Do you want something to drink? Coffee? Tea?”
“Just water please.”
It’s awkward and tense, the air filled with unsaid things. You watch quietly as he gets a glass for you and fills it with water, eyes fixed on the task at hand instead of looking up at you.
“How-how have you been?”
“Good. Everything’s good.” You mumble, ignoring the way his eyes look you over quickly. “Not as good as you though! You got married. And you had a kid.”
He laughs, fiddling with the ring on his finger, and your attention is drawn to the simple band of gold. His smile falters as he stares down at it. “I did. She-my wife passed away about a year ago.”
“I’m so sorry Marcus.” Placing your glass down on the counter, you round it to stand in front of him. “How has it been?”
“Hard, yeah.” He nods his head and casts his eyes to the ground, trying to hide the tears that have started to gather in his eyes. “Missy has been dealing with it better than I have. But we’re- I’m getting there.”
You lift your hand and place it on his arm, comforting, and he closes his eyes at the contact of warmth. His eyes lift up to meet yours, not breaking away, and you hastily take a step back, away from him.
“It’s, uh, really nice to see you.”
Your cheeks redden as you nod your head. “It’s nice to see you too. Anyway, I should probably go and check into the Bed and Breakfast.”
You turn to leave, Marcus trailing behind, as you open the front door and take a step outside. A mixture of feelings torment you as you glance at him over your shoulder before getting into the rental car. Before you can drive off, he runs to your car window, signalling for you to open it.
“Would you maybe want to go to dinner with me? To catch up?”
Those brown eyes fill with a hope that you haven't seen for a long time, that you haven't seen since the last time you had the honour of being the centre of Marcus’ life, and it makes your heart beat just a little bit faster in your chest.
“I would love to.”
|||notes- fingering, mirror sex, teasing, dirty talk, unprotected sex|||
standing in the middle of the practice room, your blood ran cold. to say you were nervous would be an understatement.
you had prepared your whole life for this moment; the moment where you’d be able to make it into the dance academy you’d been studying to get into for, well - forever.
it wasn’t easy. in fact, it’d been one of the hardest things to accomplish. your teachers had been difficult to handle, their constant nagging and bugging, reminding you you’d never make it past high school, and that the only reason you were here was simply because of luck.
but you never believed them, always looking on the positive side of things. and so far, it seemed to be paying off.
because right now, looking around to the two other brave girls standing next to you, you knew you’d made it.
and that was more than enough to give you that boost of excitement to continue in the program.
you watched the girl with short, brown hair smile up at you as she tied her shoes, wondering if it was time to introduce yourselves. “oh, hi. my name’s y/n,”
your eyebrows raised to let her know that if she wanted to greet you back, now was the time to do it. she smiled, glancing at the girl in between you both. “hello, y/n. my name’s kristin. and her name is missy.
missy gave you a half-smile, resting her hand on her hip. “are you new? I don’t think I’ve seen you before.”
you placed your bag on the ground, looking around the studio. “yep, I just got in last week. how about you guys?”
“we just got transferred here yesterday from another academy, thought it’d be nice to get a fresh start, you know?” kristin said.
“yeah, I get it alright. sometimes you just have to escape,” and before you could finish your sentence, the door opened to reveal the most attractive man you’d ever laid your eyes on.
he walked in, closing the door behind him and facing you three. “so, are you the new students we got?”
you looked to your side, head gesturing to missy to say something. “um, yeah, we are.”
kristen looked between you and the man, “and you are..?”
he smiled, biting his bottom lip. “oh, right. I’m hyunjin, your dance teacher for this semester.”
oh. that made sense, the id hung around his neck making everything lock into place.
he placed his bag on the ground, walking to the center of the room and stretching. “so, who’s ready to start?
the next hour and a half felt like hell for your body, muscles burning almost as much as your skin. you knew you must look like a mess, hair falling out of your ponytail that you’d re-done at least fifty times.
it made you feel better about yourself when you looked over to the the girls next to you, their bodies splayed on the floor as their chests heaved up and down, the only thing running through all of your veins being exhaustion.
turning your head to hyunjin, your voice sounded like a tiny mouse as you spoke to him. “are we almost done? I don’t know how much more my body can take,”
“same.” missy and kristin said in unison.
hyunjin chuckled, running his hand through his wet and messy hair. “we’re done, don’t worry. but I was hoping I could run through a couple more steps with y/n. that is, if you don’t mind staying a little longer..”
his voice trailed off at the end of his sentence, eyes flickering down to your lips as you sat up. your ears burned, confused as to why he’d want you to stay after. you were positive you’d done all the moves correctly, moving your feet and swaying your body to the sensual music.
he’d sensed your confusion, “don’t worry, you did just fine, y/n. I just want to see if you’re eligible to qualify for the upcoming competition. I was hoping maybe we could be partners.”
your mouth dropped open in shock, surprised that he chose you to compete with him. “a-are you sure? I don’t want you to be the reason that you don’t get first place-”
“oh come on, y/n. you’re the best dancer out of the three of us, do it. I’m sure you’ll be great at it.” missy said with a grin as she stood up and packed her things, kristin doing the same thing with her belongings.
hyunjin laughed, “right? I mean, you’ve all got amazing, raw talent, but I feel that y/n’s style will fit the music’s emotion and feeling the most,”
“what song is it?” you said, hand bringing your water bottle up to your mouth.
“pour up by dean, ever heard of it?”
“hell yeah I’ve heard of it, he’s one of my favorite artists!” now you really wanted to practice with him, especially now since you already knew the tempo and beat of the song.
missy opened the door, “well, I guess that’s our cue to leave. Bye guys! I hope everything goes well!”
and with that, both girls were gone, leaving you and hyunjin alone fore the rest of the evening.
he stood up and offered you his hand, pulling you up to meet his eyes. “good. now I can finally focus.”
“what do you mean?” you said, eyes looking back into his. he was beautiful, his lips plump and full, and you’d be lying if you said you didn’t want to kiss him right now.
“you think I haven’t noticed the way you’ve been looking at me? all the staring and biting your lips, it’s starting to get frustrating, baby.” he wrapped his arm aroing your waist and pushed you into the wall, hand lingering against your thigh.
“hyunjin, w-we can’t,” your eyes kept drifting to his arms, pupils blown wide with anticipation. you couldn’t ignore your body as you felt the need to close your thighs together, a damp spot forming along your panties.
he teased your shorts, pulling at the fabric softly. “why not, love? it’s only us in here.” he leaned down to pull your bottom lip between his teeth, sucking on it when your eyes fluttered closed.
“ugh, fuck it.” you said, pulling your shorts down a long with your underwear.
he did sat on the floor in front of the mirror, pulling you so that you weren’t facing him while you sat on his lap. his hands ran up and down your thighs, pushing them apart so he could see just how wet you were for him.
“oh, baby. did I do this?” his hand cupped you, palm rubbing over your clit. the pads of his fingers were rough against your skin, a finger slowly dipping into your soaking hole.
you moaned, “fuck, more.” your head was thrown back in pleasure, his hand underneath your shirt, now groping your breast over your bra.
“more? shit, I didn’t know you’d be so needy for me,” you felt as two more fingers found their way inside you, three fingers pumping in and out of you.
“oh my god, hyunjin. c-can you fuck me already? I want to feel how good you’ll be inside of me.” you turned to face him, licking your lips and meeting him in a sloppy kiss.
“all you had to do was ask, baby.”
he quickly pulled his pants down, returning to your previous position. pulling your legs apart once more he slid into you with ease, your warm and wet walls wrapping around his cock. he felt perfect inside of you, stretching you out until you felt him rub against that spot inside of you.
your head fell forward, body not being able to take all the pleasure that was running through you. “hyunjin, right fucking there!”
his hands came to rest at your hips while he thrusted up into you, the only thing that could be heard being your whimpers and his groans, skin slapping against skin, and the dirty words that left his mouth.
“you must love this, darling. you love how good my cock feels inside you, hitting all the spots your fingers could never dare to reach.” his hand moved from your waist to your clit, barely touching the sensitive bud.
“go on, lovely. make a mess out of yourself on my cock.”
you clenched around him, trying your hardest not to scream in fear of someone hearing you. “shit, y/n.”
he came not long after, his hot cum filling you up. you both sat there until your breathing evened out, his fingers running over your stomach to help calm you down.
he spoke, finally, the tense and semi awkward leaving the room. “can we maybe go out for coffee? I heard there’s a new place that opened up a few blocks from here.”
you giggled, “sure. but weren’t we supposed to go out and then have sex?”
sunshine (percy jackson x reader)
requested by anon “Hey, just found you today! I was wondering if you might do a Percy x reader? Something fluffy and the reader is an artsy, music loving, child of Apollo? Percy sees her and suddenly has a new found interest in pottery or drawing or something. His friends (the seven + Nico, Will, and Reyna) notice he’s spending a lot of time at the arts center and call him out/convince him to ask her out. That kind of seems like a lot so no pressure but thank you anyway!”
summary the seven and friends are sick and tired of seeing you and percy tiptoe around your feelings, and decide to push you two together the best they can.
a/n this is super long and im not sorry in the least,, keep those requests coming y’all !!!
gif cred belongs to @pydiasterek
“has anyone seen percy?” hazel asked, walking up to her friends with frank trailing behind her. “he said we’d be able to spar after lunch, but he didn’t even come to lunch.”
“probably at the arts center,” annabeth said, smirking to herself as she flipped the page of her book.
“arts center?” hazel repeated, furrowing her brow. “since when has percy been interested in the arts?”
“since he caught sight of y/n l/n,” jason snickered, his friends joining his chuckles.
“who’s that?” frank asked.
“apollo girl,” leo said, wiggling his eyebrows as the two romans joined their friends under the tree were lounging under. “she’s super talented. percy walked by the arts center and legitimately did a double-take when he saw her. i didn’t know people actually did that.”
“are they dating?” hazel asked innocently.
“of course not,” reyna said, not looking up from where she was shining her sword.
“well, why not?” hazel asked, looking around at her friends.
they all looked around, no one seeming to have an answer.
“maybe we should help them,” piper suggested. they all looked to the aphrodite child, who began to smirk. “you know, push ‘em together a bit. couldn’t hurt.”
and that’s how it started.
“hey, percy!” jason called out. the sea demigod had just entered the arena. jason waved his friend over to him. “you up for some sparring?”
“sure thing!” percy called back, heading toward him. as he approached, he caught sight of you spinning a spear near where jason was waiting. he watched you swing toward leo, who immediately whimpered and cowered. you giggled.
“ready?” jason asked. percy’s gaze snapped back to him.
“yeah,” he said, nodding. they both got into their stances before charging at each other. as they sparred, percy glanced back every now and again to watch you and leo fight, you easily overpowering the hephaestus child. one of those times percy glanced over his shoulder, jason took the opportunity to catch him off guard, making percy stumble as he countered and fall back. but before he could hit the ground, something hard dug into his back.
he opened his eyes to see you standing over him with a smirk. “well, hello, water boy,” you said, shaking your head. percy offered you a sheepish smile. he realized it was the butt of your spear digging into his back, holding him up.
“uh... hi,” he breathed. you giggled, pushing your spear forward to held stand him up straight. he turned to you with an embarrassed smile as you leaned against your weapon. “good catch.”
“thanks,” you hummed. “maybe you should stick to swimming, water boy.”
“maybe you should stick to singing, sunshine,” percy retorted, crossing his arms. you let out a scoff, followed by a laugh.
“sunshine?” you repeated. “now that’s just lazy.”
“and water boy isn’t?” he retorted. jason and leo shared looks as you two continued to tease each other, slowly moving away to leave you two alone. they weren’t surprised when they found out nothing ended up happening.
the next day, annabeth invited you to join them around the campfire after dinner, hoping to at least get you and percy to realize the other’s feelings. when you arrived, they all greeted you warmly.
“who invited you, sunshine?” percy joked as you took the seat next to him on one of the seating logs surrounding the fire.
“someone who doesn’t think of such lazy nicknames, merman,” you tutted, shaking your head. he scoffed as you winked at annabeth.
you all talked for the longest while, telling stories and jokes and enjoying each other’s company. while you two may have not noticed, the rest of the group noticed that you and percy had gravitated closer together during the time you two sat around the fire, your thighs almost pressed completely together after just an hour.
“im gonna call it a night,” will yawned, standing and stretching. nico had slung his jacket over the boy’s shoulders a while ago.
“that’s my cue, too,” nico sighed, standing after his boyfriend. will grabbed his hand with a smile before turning and pointing at you.
“don’t get back too late, missy,” he teased, winking at you.
“i know the rules, william,” you scoffed teasingly. he chuckled and the couple waved goodnight to the rest of the group. reyna, hazel, frank, and piper followed soon after. that left annabeth, jason, percy, and you around the fire.
“you’re not tired yet, water boy?” you hummed, looking over at percy.
“no,” he shrugged, looking down at you. “are you?”
you shrugged in return, stifling a yawn. “i won’t go to bed until you do.”
“that’s not a good rule to live by,” percy laughed.
“why not?” you grinned, quirking an eyebrow.
“well, you know how im great at a lot of things?”
“you are?”
“i am,” he confirmed in a soft tone that made you giggle. he grinned down at you. “but uh, the one thing im not very good at is sleeping.”
you hummed. “that’s tragic. maybe you should just sleep.”
“you know, i didn’t think of that.”
“i figured as much,” you tsked. neither of you noticed that annabeth and jason had snuck off, leaving you two to flirt and tease alone. the only evident product of success from that night was seeing you return percy’s sweatshirt the next morning. they took that as a small victory.
the kicker was when you were all playing a game of paranoia in jason’s cabin. you were all sat around in a circle on the cleared out floor when piper had sneakily proposed the game. you were all for it. to make sure they could manipulate the game to go their way, the group had separated you and percy. you rested your head in leo’s lap and draped your legs across jason. annabeth caught percy’s stare when you had first looked into leo’s eyes and grinned as you settled in.
“i’ll start,” piper proposed. she leaned over to whisper in nico’s ear. the boy considered, looking around the circle as piper leaned back with a smile.
“annabeth,” he answered. “for sure.” said girl flipped the coin she held. they all watched it land on heads.
“reveal!”
“the question was ‘who do you think would get away with murder’,” piper snickered.
“yeah, that’s about right.”
“i believe it.”
“honestly, she probably has already.” you all turned to the athena child in question. she shrugged easily.
“that’s a woman’s secret,” was all she said, making you all laugh. the game continued on and more laughs were shared. then, it was time for annabeth to whisper to percy.
“lay it on me,” percy sighed as annabeth leaned over, making you all chuckle. percy bit his lip as annabeth leaned away with a not-so-secretive smirk. he kept his gaze trained on the floor in front of him as he considered. he turned to annabeth and asked, “why is this so hard?” you all chuckled as she shrugged.
“gotta answer, though.”
he sighed, still not looking up as he answered, “y/n.”
you blinked in surprise as your friends erupted in whistles. you watched annabeth flip the coin and your heart dropped as it landed on tails.
“damn,” you muttered. they all laughed and you joined. “i really wanted to know!”
the game continued on until it was leo’s turn to whisper to you. you sat up so he could whisper quietly in your ear.
you shivered as he leaned away. “sorry, i got chills.” you laid back down as you considered and they laughed. you smiled to yourself before answering, “will.”
leo nodded. “flip.” the coin landed on heads.
“i asked who the hottest guy in the room was,” leo grinned.
“sun child vibes!” you exclaimed, throwing up peace signs as will cheered. “no? no one? okay.” you leaned forward to whisper to will as they laughed. percy couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.
the circle went around again, and when it was back to percy, he braced himself for a similar question to the one he received last time. he sighed as he leaned away from annabeth.
“i gotta go with y/n again,” he said, shaking his head.
“i didn’t know we were playing favorites,” jason scoffed, making you all laugh.
“what can i say, sparky?” you sighed dramatically. “you’ve been replaced.” jason placed an offended hand on his heart as you turned to annabeth. “flip, please.”
percy wanted to walk into the ocean when the coin landed on heads, making the circle ‘oo’ and laugh. “uh, i was asked who the prettiest girl in the room was.” he scratched the back of his neck and blushed. you opted to blush as well instead of saying anything as the group burst into ‘aww’s and leo started cheering.
after another few rounds, you all decided to call it a night before dionysus or some other unfathomable thing came to break up your makeshift party.
“can i walk you to your cabin?” you turned to see percy standing with his hands in his pockets.
you gave him a smile. “sure thing, barnacle boy.” he rolled his eyes at the nickname as you two walked out of the zeus cabin.
after a minute of silence, you broke, “so, you think im pretty?” he blushed.
“i was hoping you wouldn’t remember that.”
“who do you think i am?”
you both laughed as he scratched the back of his neck. “well, yeah, i guess. beautiful is a better word for it, though.” you smiled as you both stopped before the steps of the apollo cabin. you knew will was probably watching from the window, but you didn’t care. you only cared about the demigod in front of you at that moment.
“wanna know the question i answered you for?” you hummed. he nodded. you smiled, looking into his sea green eyes as you recited, “‘who would you kiss out of everyone here?’”
his eyebrows shot up, as did his heart rate. “really?” you nodded with your usual easy smile. he looked away from your prying eyes for a second to nod and absorb the exciting information. he looked back down at you and started, “can i-”
“please,” you answered with a laugh, eyes closed as you cut him off. he smiled and leaned down slowly to press his lips to yours gently. he pulled away after a moment. your eyes met his and nothing was said before he leaned down again, this time his hands settling on your waist as you wrapped your arms around his neck.
the kiss was more intense this time, both of you spilling all of the thoughts and feelings and tension you had held in since you first met onto the other’s lips. and it was nothing short of euphoric.
but not euphoric enough to drown out the cheers of your friends from all around you two.
the only proof i need is you (taywhora)
it is finally done, i've been wokring on this since the ukd tour started but we don't need to talk about that, it's kind of a sequel to my older canon compliant fics but can be read sepereatly. love my dear mina for always betaing shit I send them, an actual icon
title from proof by Paramore bc that song got stuck in my head as I was tryna get a title, enjoy :)) ao3 link
Tayce relished in the energy she got from this, after so long away from gigs the euphoria wasn’t lost on her. They were lucky, finally able to experience the dizzying highs of such public notoriety.
The heat didn’t help things— of course, they’d get stuck in a heatwave during a cross country tour. The amount of sweat, makeup running by the end of the show, outfits sticking in places they shouldn’t. It was a nightmare, but she wouldn’t trade it for anything
Her attention was pulled back to reality by the laughter of her friends, using silly Instagram filters on each other to amuse them. They stumbled towards her in a flurry of giggles, knocking into her arms and almost sending her falling over into the crowd. A’whora raised her phone to Tayce, erupting into laughter at the way the screen contorted her face into something unrecognisable.
---
“Are you done with those?” Tayce asked, gesturing to A’whora’s fries while his attention was laser focused on his phone.
Before he could answer, Tayce plucked a chip anyway, putting it in his mouth much to A’whora’s chagrin. He huffed, eyes narrowing at such an act of treason.
“You hound!” He swatted at Tayce’s arm as he reached for another. “What happened to yours?”
Tayce lent in further, smiling fiendishly and chewing obnoxiously loud. “Ate them, like, ten minutes ago. You’ve been staring at your phone for the past hour and they’re gonna go cold, missy.”
“I’m eating at my own pace!”
“You eat slower than Lawrence picks up choreo.” Tayce grinned, his heart warming at the way his friend pouted, arms crossed — he was too cute when he got all riled up.
“Don’t involve me in your lovers' spats!” Lawrence hissed from across the table, laughing at the way Tayce’s eyes narrowed. He knew Lawrence was only having one of those stupid more-than-friends jokes, but any implications of their relationship being anything other than professional made the room seem a little too tense for his liking.
“She’s right, you two argue like an old married couple.” Bimini chimed in, resting their head on their hands like this was an everyday event.
“This isn’t an argument, a crime has been committed and you two are bystanders letting such an act go unpunished!”
“It’s a fucking chip.”
A’whora glared at Lawrence for such a comment. It was his chip. Tayce had his own, he could deal with himself. He had a bad habit of eating things that weren’t his and flirting his way out of any repercussions. He’d buy A’whora more of something most of the time but the annoyance was justified after a year of having his food stolen.
Bimini let out an exasperated laugh, the idiocy of the pair never failing to be both amusing and tiring. They bickered like children sometimes but there was a layer of deep connection under it, two people so strong in their unity that nothing could break them apart.
Except a chip apparently.
They slid their own half eaten pack over, not likely to eat the rest anyway. It would be worth the quiet of Tayce settling down with more food for a little while. They missed the peace of them all being passed out from a long night’s show.
“Tayce, you can have the rest of mine, just leave her alone.”
“Let the whore have her own food, you hound.” Lawrence huffed, Tayce snickering at the moniker. It made him raise an eyebrow, nodding before turning his attention back to his fries.
It was hilarious seeing him get so riled up but there was a small pang in Tayce’s chest, he genuinely was a bit upset about having his food taken, it was a constant that always riled him up no matter how much Tayce replaced. He slid a few fries over, secretly enjoying the bright smile that took over A’whora’s face, giving a thankful nod.
---
Tayce felt the repetitive movement of the car slowly lull him to sleep, they were all too tired to do much of anything, passing out in the back of the tour bus in full drag, not even the energy to take it off before going to their hotels. A’whora was next to him, head leant against his shoulder. He looked so peaceful, making it hard to believe he’d been performing in the horrid heatwave an hour ago.
Bimini was on the other side of them, by the window. They’d curled in on themself, contorted in a way that couldn’t have been comfortable. She’d have to laugh when they complained of back pain the next morning. Lawrence was beside them, stretched across the seat between him and bimini. It was strange to see everyone so low energy, though Tayce himself felt it. So many shows in such quick succession, his body wasn’t ready no matter how much preparation went into it.
A bump in the road jolted him back to attention, though the rest of them were long gone from consciousness. At least he thought. His attention turned back to A’whora, taking in all of his features without the prying eyes of anyone. Something about the sight of him, head reclined on Tayce’s shoulder looking like it was the most comfortable thing in the world, it made his heart warm.
Those feelings still went unsaid, he wasn’t ready for a lot of things, A’whora knew that. He knew with time he would open up, it just took patience and love.
---
Tayce’s energy was electric, his constant bouncing and talking leaving the others in the tour bus in a similar state.
Long drives were boring, he had to make it more interesting somehow. A’whora and Lawrence exchanged a look as Tayce set up an Instagram live, mentally preparing for the chaos that would surely follow.
Lawrence was half amused and half mortified at the act that followed, A’whora cheekily shaking her ass on the camera, much to the amusement of the viewers, Tayce slapping it as if it was no big deal. He’d probably come to regret that later but the moment buzzed with the excitement for their next show, the tour in general, and the euphoria of touring with some of his best friends.
The rowdy energy kept up for the rest of the day, Tayce rarely lost his buzz as A’whora had come to learn, it was a blessing until it was late and she was ready to go out when all he could do was pass out in the hotel room.
They had to share this time due to availability, acting like it was a minor inconvenience when it was all they wanted now, to feel the comfort of someone going through the same grueling thing as you, waking up next to Tayce was euphoric. Something about him took the best, happiest feelings out of A’whora and left him a gooey mess of love and laughs.
Though Lawrence was catching on, or so Tayce claimed he thought, confiding in A’whora knowing even he could keep this secret. He knew better than to say something like that, Tayce’s vulnerability was difficult to keep, any sign of trouble and he’d close right back up for a long time to come.
“Oh, there are the lovers.” He boldly prodded the pair, erupting into a laugh as Tayce scowled. The atmosphere was too tense for 9 am, the previous night out leaving him in a precarious state of trying to balance a normal act and a vicious headache that only a kiss from A’whora had managed to vanquish.
“Well what crawled up your ass and died?” He followed up, Tayce’s glare frosting over in a way that truly worried A’whora. He was not happy and he didn’t want to sit in a car all day full of tension. Where was Bimini in this mess?
“It’s too early for this shit, settle down.”
His voice seemed to reason more with Tayce as he got into the car, quickly pulling a’whora beside him. Bimini came out a while later, apologising for the wait. None of them ever seemed to be on time, it was almost as if they took it in turns this tour.
Their presence brought some much needed peace as Tayce started perking up through the journey, still oddly quiet but much better than wanting to bite Lawrence’s head off this morning.
---
“A’whora! God, hurry up!” A shout came from Bimini as they prodded her to change faster. Damn costumes, never easy to get off in a hurry.
Tayce watched it with muffled laughter, the misfortune not enough to need intervention but much too amusing to leave alone.
Lawrence shared in her amusement, though had no problem commenting on her time wasting.
“I thought I was the slow one, the whore’s got us all beat.” She commented, the room erupting in laughter much to A’whora’s annoyance.
“Stupid fucking outfit! Tayce?” The complaint was followed by a pleading whine, her eyes starting to tear up with sheer frustration.
Tayce obliged, walking over and unzipping the outfit to let A’whora out, grabbing her new one and sliding it up her body, slowly as to allow her to get in without rushing.
A’whora felt herself almost quiver, the feeling of Tayce’s hands running down her back taking her back to—
Nope. She couldn’t do this, not during a show. Keeping this secret would eat her alive by the time they got finished with this tour but she could enjoy the little moments they had, as inconspicuous as possible.
“Talk about sexual tension.”
“Oh fuck off Lawrence.” Tayce shot back. Before any more words could be exchanged they were rushed back on stage for a group number.
Thank god for Tayce.
—-
Tayce let himself fall onto the bed with a loud groan. It was incredible being able to perform for huge crowds and meet their fans but this was a new kind of exhaustion. He felt the need to hibernate for the next week. Beside him, A’whora flopped down, a similar sigh leaving his lips.
“I can’t wait to get home, I’ve got a face mask and a few packs of percy pigs waiting for me.”
“Is that all you ever think about? You better share, missy.” Tayce teased, a tired grin spreading across his face, elating his boyfriend who rolled over to press a kiss to his cheek.
“Only if you ask politely, or maybe you do something nice for me.” The last part came out in a purr, their faces so close Tayce swore A’whora could feel the heat rising off his face at the insinuation.
It wasn’t like he couldn’t play along, flirting and calling his bluffs. But this was more intimate, the two of them, together. No one else, no need to worry about keeping it down so their roommates wouldn’t find out. It was a flash of a possible future. The pair of them working, joking, and loving together.
It dawned on him then, cuddled together without a care in the world after the most exhausting two weeks of his life. This was what he wanted, he didn’t care what other people thought. Something melted away without him realising, leaving his heart bare and ready for the taking though A’whora always let him set the pace.
“I love you, George.”
He froze. Did he hear that right? Did Tayce just say he loved him? Tayce, the one who could never let himself be vulnerable, much less admit his deepest feelings.
“I love you too.” He choked out, sounding more shocked than he knew possible. Tayce couldn’t help but laugh, he wasn’t expecting it but that reaction was nothing less than adorable. He pulled him into a soft kiss, enjoying their closeness before they both drifted off, hardly ready for the travel and fatigue of tomorrow but safe and cosy in the presence of each other.
He could get used to this.
Honeydew masterlist
Like my writing? Here’s my masterlist.
Author’s Note: Here’s the next chapter! I wanted to let them have a moment to just be together after everything that happened, and this was one (of many) of them. Enjoy!
“I just don’t understand why it’s not working. It doesn’t make sense.”
Sometimes she wondered why she had to be a supervisor that knew how to code. If she were non-technical, like many of her past managers, she could have simply told the developer to do some code reviews with his colleagues. Well, it wouldn't have been that simple either way, but at least she would get to go home.
Erin sighed and sat down by Brian’s desk. The empty coffee cups and notebook with scribbled ink was a familiar sight, though his desk did seem to be missing one crucial thing: a rubber duck. “Let’s just take a step back and go through the logic, ok? So we have that….”
She and the developer went through the specifications for the updates and the high-level implementations that needed to be done. It seemed like he managed to get most of the framework for the code set up; all that was left was, well, writing the code and making sure it was correct. However, the deadline for shipping the code was coming up in the following days, and he was still at the debugging stage.
Although it had been a while since she’d programmed anything in a work-related context, she thanked the CS gods that she still remembered enough to take on some of the debugging. Conveniently, Brian had prior commitments that night and needed to leave on time–as if an engineer’s shift was ever truly over. But while there were others who could help out, something told her that it would be faster if she did some of the debugging herself. After all, she’d just spent half an hour reasoning through the logic.
“Why don’t you finish up as much as you can, push your changes to the repo, and I’ll take a look later?” she suggested, scanning the code. At first glance it looked fine–as most code normally did–but there were obviously issues somewhere that caused all the tests to fail. “I have some other work to do, but if we can get everything ready within the next couple days I don’t think they will mind the update being slightly delayed.”
With that, Erin went back to making her rounds through the work area, picking up any stray folders and getting last-minute status updates from the others. The sky was already dark, any trace of the sun long gone. Normally she would be getting ready to leave soon, but there was more work to do ahead of the op she was leading.
Ignoring the vibrations of her phone, she made her way back to her office and set up her desk to keep working. One thing she’d learned over her years of experience as a supervisor was that an organized desk was crucial for concentration. If only other aspects of her life were as organized as her desk.
It had been days since she found out about Marcus’s secret identity, but she couldn’t help but still feel utterly stupid. She was stupid to think that she could move on. That she, for once, was enough.
The truth was that she was never enough. She wasn’t enough to bring Marcus back after his disappearance, and she wasn’t enough to make hiding his past life unbearable.
She would have been lying if she said she didn’t consider breaking things off. But at the same time, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. He said that he and Pike were the same, that everything they had was real. And if that was true, then maybe things would get better. They could try to make things work, and show up for each other. After all, wasn’t that what caused the mess anyways? Them not being there for each other at the most important moments?
Someone knocked on her door.
Erin didn’t look up from her work. “Come in.”
“Hi honey.”
This time she looked up, a small smile on her face. “What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at home with Missy?”
Marcus chuckled softly. “I guess I should, but my mom convinced her to stay the night so that we could have some alone time,” he explained, sitting in the chair in front of her desk. Eyes twinkling, he lifted a paper bag. “I texted you asking what you wanted for dinner but you didn’t reply, so I got your favorite.”
Now she really was smiling. “You brought canh chua? I’m sorry I didn’t reply, I’ve been running around the department trying to get everything together.”
“It’s alright; I figured you were busy, so I wanted to make sure you at least had dinner,” he said, pulling out the container of soup along with some utensils and a couple to-go bowls. “I know you love the bạc hà, so I asked for extra. They’re in one of the small containers, so we can add them in ourselves.”
“You’re too good to me.” Erin pushed her laptop to the side so he had more room to organize the slew of containers. The tamarind-flavored soup was often a treat rather than a regular meal, one that she normally savored in the cozy atmosphere of the Vietnamese restaurant. Her heart melted a little as she realized that Marcus had to have driven across town to get it from the restaurant.
“You deserve only the best.”
Some containers were filled with jasmine rice, fragrant and pillowy. Others overflowed with toppings like aromatic cilantro, spicy Thai chilis, and crisp bean sprouts. And, as promised, there was an extra container with fresh slices of bạc hà, the spongy stem of the elephant ear plant.
Her mouth watered as she helped fill the bowls with rice and soup, letting the golden broth soak into the grains. The tomatoes and pineapple chunks were perfectly cooked and plump, brightening the salty, nearly fruity, broth.
When she pushed the bowl towards Marcus he shook his head. “You eat first, Rin. You’ve had a long day. How was work?”
“Tiring,” she scoffed lightly, adding a questionable amount of chili to her bowl. The soup was still pleasantly warm when she scooped some into her mouth, the salt giving way to the fruity sourness and inferno of chilis. She moaned in satisfaction, “This is exactly why you are my favorite person in the whole world. Thank you for bringing this, brown eyes.”
He smiled softly, adding a significantly smaller amount of chili to his bowl. “Of course, honey. Just like the old times, huh?”
At that, Erin sighed. Sometimes she forgot that her memories of Marcus Pike were really of Marcus Moreno, and it still hadn’t ceased to be jarring when that realization hit. “Yeah.”
Noticing her hesitation, Marcus looked at her apologetically. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that–”
“No, it’s okay,” she interrupted, waving him off. “I just...I missed this. Us in an office sharing food in the evening. I never thought I’d ever get to experience this again, but now you’re here.”
His eyes softened and he reached over to hold her hand in his. Stroking the back of her hand softly, he said, “I know. I missed this too.” He shifted in his seat. “And I know we can’t go back to what we were before, but I don’t want you to feel like you need to separate our memories. They’re ours, honeydew. Nothing can take that away.”
“I know,” she said, eyes burning. “I’m sorry I’m not as happy–”
“It’s alright,” he interjected gently. “It’s not your fault. None of this is your fault.”
And, if she would let him, he was going to spend the rest of his days showing her how much she meant to him. It was a mistake–a huge one–to hide from her for that long. If time was money, he’d cost her so much. Maybe he wouldn’t ever be able to give those years back to her, but he could make the most of their time in the present. Now he just hoped his paperwork would get approved at HQ.
“I’m just so tired,” she said quietly.
Of everything. Of being herself, and of feeling like the biggest fool in the world for not realizing the man she loved had been in her life eight years ago.
She’d long since stopped caring about what her colleagues thought, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t pride herself on her intelligence and knack for details. With everything, she wasn’t quite sure what hurt most: the blow to her pride, or the fact that Marcus had lied.
But deep down, a part of her was happy. He finally came back, and while the past was wrought with cracks, the future felt...secure. And if there was anything she knew about Marcus, it was that he wore his heart on his sleeve, and that he wanted to stay for the long run. She knew that, no matter what, he wanted to make things right.
“Why don’t we head home after this, then?” he suggested, lips quirked up in a small smile. “They can’t get too mad if the smartest woman in the bureau takes the night off.”
---
“Would you like to stay?” she asked, unlocking the door to her apartment. Marcus’s car was parked in the visitors’ parking area, and it was starting to get late. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to.”
“I’d love to, if you’ll have me,” he answered, heat rushing up to his cheeks when her eyes met his. Even after all this time, he couldn’t get over the way she looked when she smiled at him like that. When she looked at him like he was everything she ever wanted.
They settled into the apartment as usual, with Erin checking on her plants and Marcus helping to plug in her laptop. Something about the way Erin moved around in the space was just...right. He’d seen her navigate government buildings and sites for operations, but at home, there was a different kind of confidence about her. It was a confidence that he knew only a select few were allowed to see.
Once they reached the bedroom, Marcus kissed her forehead and went into her bathroom. “Stay here, I’ll get a bath ready for you.”
Erin let out a huff of laughter at his eagerness, resigning to putting away her bag and changing into more comfortable clothes. As much as she loved a good suit, she also loved the warmth of sweatpants and the softness of silk. But seeing as she still needed to wash up for the night, she slipped on a silk nightgown, the hem stopping just above her knees.
Eventually, Marcus returned and led her into the bathroom, presenting her with a bathtub full of gardenia-scented bubbles and steaming water. He’d also found her electronic candles, placing them strategically so she could see in the dimmed lighting.
“It’s perfect, Marcus. Would you like to join me?” she asked, biting her lip in anticipation. The bathtub was just large enough for two people, and she wanted to know what it would feel like to be with him in her most vulnerable state. After all the secrets and waiting, she just wanted more .
He shook his head, trying to not let his mind linger too long on the way her nightgown hugged her chest like liquid gold. As much as he wanted to be with her, something told him that it wasn’t the right moment. “You’ve had to take care of yourself for so long, honey. Let me take care of you, ok?”
“But what about you?”
“Don’t worry about me.” Their lips melded together as their resolve grew strained. She tasted sweet and intoxicating, and it took all his strength to not give in. “You deserve to be treated like a queen. You’re my queen, and I want to make you feel good. Is that alright?”
She hummed softly and kissed him again. A low moan escaped her lips. “You really know how to make a woman conflicted, Marcus.”
“Sorry, it’s a bad habit.”
“I know you are. I’m just glad you’re here now,” she said. Pulling away, she stepped up next to the bathtub. Slipping the straps off her shoulders, she suggested, “If you’re not going to join me in here, why don’t you get comfortable and keep me company?”
The bath felt as amazing as it looked, the hot water melting away the tension in her muscles and the bubbles acting as a blanket to keep her modesty. Well, not that she hadn’t undressed in front of Marcus, but she wanted to keep some parts of her a surprise.
After some shy laughs, Marcus stayed by her side the entire time, sitting on the edge of the tub. It was just wide enough for him to sit comfortably, close enough that they could talk softly and he could help wash her hair. The golden glow of the candles and the warmth from the bath soothed their nerves until they were just two people in love.
Relaxed and back in her nightgown, Erin sat on her bed and checked her emails one more time. Thankfully, there weren’t any that she needed to reply to.
“Careful, hot tea incoming.”
She smiled up at Marcus, who was holding out a cup of steaming pu erh tea. Accepting it, she remarked, “I’m surprised you were able to find the tea leaves.”
“It helped that I remembered that you always have a designated cabinet.”
“I guess not that much has changed after all these years,” she said, sipping from the cup. As she did, she wondered if it was just herself that hadn’t changed.
“Dance with me?”
Her eyes widened in confusion when he broke the silence. “Hm?”
Marcus held out a hand, which she instinctively reached for. “Dance with me. Please?”
It didn’t take long for her to give in, setting the cup down on the nightstand. They swayed slowly in the bedroom, moonlight streaming in. Although there wasn’t any music, it was just what they needed. They just needed a moment in each other’s arms.
Erin’s head rested against his chest, the warmth from his body sinking into her. “I missed you so much,” she said softly.
“I missed you too.”
He missed her too.
But there was still something nagging at the back of her mind. Part of her didn’t want to disturb the peace, but she also wanted answers. Maybe it wasn’t the best time to ask him. Maybe it would undo everything. Before she could stop herself, she asked, “Can you tell me about your wife? Missy’s mom? Did she..?”
Marcus sighed softly, but not out of frustration. No, it was the kind that was borne of fondness. His arms tightened around her. “Yeah. We actually met not too long after I had my documents changed back. I didn’t want to tell her. I wanted a fresh start, but I still felt very much like Marcus Pike rather than Marcus Moreno. So, I told her about my past and we went from there.” A soft chuckle. “She was definitely shocked, but it was different because she never knew me as Pike, only Moreno.”
She wasn’t you, he wanted to say.
“I’m glad she knew,” she replied, snuggling closer to him. At least he told her, the mother of his child. It was...comforting to know that he hadn’t been all alone during those years. Eight years was a long time to keep a secret. “And what about now? Do you still feel like Marcus Pike?”
“Some days I feel more like Pike,” he admitted. “But with Missy and the Heroics, I feel like I’ve settled into being Marcus Moreno. It took a few years, but….Pike will always be a part of me. It wasn’t ever not me, just…a different side.”
“I see.” When his arms shifted, Erin clung to him tighter. “Don’t leave. Please.”
Marcus kissed her temple, his lips soft and warm. “Never again, honey. I’ll be here until you’re tired of me.”
Headcanons for being a younger Avenger and mentoring Kamala
Kamala Khan x reader
warnings: avengers game spoilers, guns
a/n: so excited about this one; i made y/n just a bit older (and gn!) so that they’re in their mid-early teens during a-day! hope thats okie doke! reader has electrokinesis. this accidentally got really detailed
prompt: anonymous: “Hey there! Would you mind writing HCs for the Avengers Game about female reader being a young Avenger (around 17) and mentoring Kamala Khan?”
you were just a kid yourself when you joined the avengers
and you were an inspiration to kids around the world
“does SHIELD think nothing of child labor laws?” -bruce
the avengers became your family
and seeing what you could do...they knew you could handle yourself
and then a-day happened
the day started off so perfect
and the kids went ballistic over seeing you
“y/h/n! look, it’s y/h/n!”
“can i get a picture?”
“hi, guys! of course you can!”
but there was one kid who stuck out among the rest
kamala khan
“you’re the one who wrote about the sewers, right? i freaking loved it! may i just say your art is amazing?”
“r-really?”
“oh, yeah! and the part where you had thor spin mjölnir to push water towards the sewer lizards so i could shock them? genius!”
she could not wait to tell abu about what you had just said
you obviously took a selfie with her and handed her a little pin with your own “icon” on it
but your world got turned upside down that day
the battle was one you’d never forget
and the fighting with your own teammates afterwards would haunt you for years to come
“what do you know, y/n?! you’re just a kid!” -tony
“oh yeah? im one of the only functioning members of this team!”
“everybody calm down. y/n makes a good point, but—” -nat
“thank you”
“...but there’s some stuff you should leave up to us. you really shouldn’t have to take on so much responsibility” -nat
“she’s right, y/n. this was our fault” -bruce
“are you kidding me?! i’m just as guilty as the rest of you, i’m an equal member of this team! for years we’ve dealt with this together, taken the blame together! what’s changed?”
“y/n...you saw what we did out there. that changed everything...” -bruce
you technically were an inhuman, just not terrigen-based
didnt matter to AIM, they took dr. pym for god’s sake
so you had to run, you were on your own for a while
a long while
you laid low for five years, most boring five years of your life
at least you still had your life, though. it just wasn’t what it used to be
but you got a message one day
“‘tiny dancer,’ huh? my moneys on either nat or tony. nah, tony would have chosen ‘rocket man.’”
you couldn’t be sure, maybe it was just a random shield agent...maybe hank pym? god, this was crazy
the message brought you to, uh, cap’s memorial statue
and there was a young girl arguing with a couple of boys...an inhuman!
you hopped in and saved her, she seemed scared
“hey, kid, you alright?”
“y/h/n? is it really you?”
she seemed vaguely familiar
“are you tiny dancer?”
“no, i thought you might be? they sent you here, too?”
there wasn’t much time to chat, AIM was onto you
you two unfortunately got split up for a minute, but you were practically raised by the notorious clint barton and natasha romanoff, and various other spies
yes, you planted a tracker on her
and met her at the bus stop!
“you found me?”
“that i did, kamala. see, i do remember you”
“that is so cool! i mean—not almost getting killed, or the guy with the big head...”
“what guy? you need to tell me everything”
the whole busride was a bit overwhelming. kamala explained the resistance clues, her powers, her undying admiration for the avengers, you name it
but it made you feel good to know that there were people out there that didn’t hate you
“so what was it like? being the teenage avenger?”
“uh, it was...it was really cool. i felt like i was one-of-a-kind. but sometimes people didn’t take me seriously, it was kind of aggravating”
“yeah, no one takes me seriously either...”
“you know, depending on how this all goes, i might be able to give you a few pointers”
“really?! that’d be great!”
once you got to utah...you saw the chimera
it brought back some bad memories, kamala could tell
“you okay?”
“me? yeah, im good. just thinking...okay, well, do you have a plan on how to get yourself across all of this?”
“actually, i do!”
it was kind of creepy in there, but when you laid your eyes on caps shield, you kind of broke
“do you hear something, what it that?”
“...hulk. kamala, you need to get out of here, i’ll catch up to you, i swear”
she didn’t leave in time, so she got to see the greener side of bruce. you chased him back and tried to get bruce back
meanwhile, kamala found AIM troops...oops
bruce cooled off and man was he doing rough
“y/n, is that really you?”
“yeah, its me. surprise. how long have you been the big guy?”
“too long...a few years”
“jesus, im sorry. i’ll be right back, though. some kid brought me here, i gotta go get her. you kinda scared her off”
she was passed out when you got to her
but bruce is a doctor, he’d figure it out
“i could give her a little shock to wake her up, you know?”
“oh, i know. just let her rest for a minute. she needs it”
“right...well im gonna take a look around, maybe go see what i left behind. i could power the place up, but we’re missing some parts to actually get this thing running. best i can do is lights and doors”
you turned the little things on and turns out did leave a decent amount of stuff in here
your first pair of pistols that nat gave you, the gigantic stein that thor gifted you for your 13th birthday, gadgets tony needed an “extra boost” for *bzzt*, a note from cap that just said “good luck, y/n, you’re going to do great!” you cant even remember what it was he was referring to. you just missed him
kamala walked in while you were shuffling around and cleaning the place up
“hey, dr. banner wanted me to come get you. is this your room?”
“that it is, and it’s a huge mess. this is literally all my belongings ever”
bruce had his plan and you just went along, helping kamala out as you go
“baby steps, kam, don’t want you to pass out. but don’t worry, happens to the best of us” -you
“really? you pass out too?” -kamala
“oh yeah, for sure. tell her bruce, remember that time we had thor overcharge me to literally make me an EMP? and tony was busy listening to music so he wouldn’t get out of the blast radius and his armor shut down? so he was out of commission and i had just collapsed from it all? good times”
“y/n, we thought you died” -bruce
this hc is so long omg — anyways you guys ended up finding tony and it was sort of entertaining but he kinda punched bruce and then hugged you
“you got so big”
“shut up, tony”
you kinda harbored some bad feelings since none of the avengers did anything to help you once they started rounding up inhumans (but you still missed them)
getting attacked again
“okay, kamala, remember what i said about baby steps. dont overdo it. i trust you with this!”
“thank you, y/n! uh—oh my god!”
aaaanyways you went to the ant hill to see hank and pick up some supplies, boy was it great to see some familiar faces, then back the the chimera you went to fix it all up
“can you hold that right there for me, kamala? thanks. i think that just about does it. now i have a surprise for you...your own room!”
you helped kamala get it nice and tidy while talking about each other’s lives, she really did remind you of yourself when you became an avenger. excited, scared, underestimated, all of that. and she begged you to share some mission stories, so you obviously did
“you know, if you stick around for a while, you’re gonna have some cool stories, too. maybe even a kickass costume.”
“oh! a costume, ive got that sorta covered. check it out. a burkini, muslim women wear it for swimming and stuff. my mom got it for me”
“love it. soon we’ll find you a fitting name and update the suit, but seriously, this was the perfect way to go. you look great”
“you think so? i don’t know if i feel that cool. maybe i should try something else?”
“if that’s how you feel, you don’t have to stick to it. you can experiment all you want! but i really think you did awesome on this. come on, pose with me! and hey, i like your pins.”
at this point, you’d do anything for kamala, she reminded you so much of yourself. you would have killed for a mentor your age back in the day.
natasha was in fact tiny dancer...called it
“oh, god, y/n. you’re all grown up...im sorry we left you alone. but if it makes you feel better, i always kept an eye on you”
“well, i kind of took on a protégé...she’s like your grand-protégé. kam, c’mere”
after thor finally came back, everyone started fighting again and ditched, it felt so familiar. but you couldn’t leave kamala behind, you swore to yourself that you couldn’t do that.
she was so good for this team
MODOK was defeated (by kamala herself) but there was so much left to do, tons of threats to extinguish, training to accomplish
“y/n, tony won’t turn his dad rock off! he overrode the speakers in my room”
“oh, it’s on. get chastity’s fabric dye and bleach pens. we’re gonna start some trouble”
she gave you a high five one time and nearly broke your arm
sending each other tiny hand memes
“hey, ms. m, how’re your parents? doing okay without their favorite super-daughter?”
“my abu doesn’t stop texting me actually, says my family is super proud of me. it’s a nice change of pace”
you take her on covert missions for field training, it was Educational(tm)
*elevator music playing* “so...what do you want for dinner? i was thinking we could ask thor to barbecue”
sleepovers in her room that just turn into her showing you her superhero merch, listening to music, prank lists, sneaking off to the HARM room for hand-to-hand combat training and power experiments, thinking up new costume designs
“tip: you always need backup suits, you never know what you’re gonna run into out there. one time tony pushed me into a tower of paint cans and they spilled all over me. steve yelled at him for two hours afterwards. worst mission ever, except steve said ‘motherfucker’ and i have never recovered from the emotions of that day”
“wow, i wish i could have been there for that”
“don’t worry, kami, you’ll see some crazy ‘team bonding’ along the way”
she geeks out about captain marvel sometimes
“hey, i’ve got a book carol gave to me about ‘teens taking responsibility.’ you wanna read it?”
“is it any good?”
“i don’t know, i only read the first two pages”
you ended up having a true heart-to-heart with her after one mission when she made a mistake that nearly cost you guys the mission. you told her that not every mission is going to go perfect, each avenger had slipped up in the field, and she had just started, shes not going to be perfect
“i am literally always here if you need anything. i know what it feels like to be a teenager among legends, but trust me, you’ve made it this far and you’ve proven how much of a badass you are. i know you can take anything that gets thrown at you”
kamala said she makes vegan nachos and yeah she makes vegan nachos
you guys have to hide from the rest of the team when she makes them bc they eat ALL OF THEM
gaff (the SHEILD vendor) has you test his gear, you recommend gear to kamala
you were so excited to guide kamala on her journey of heroism
Home alone, Niragi was in the kitchen checking through the cupboards for any food that appealed to him. Chishiya had a strict policy of ‘If you want food, buy it yourself’. However, he was also too busy to be there constantly to reinforce that particular rule.
Seeing a jar of peanut butter in one of the cupboards, Niragi grabbed it and popped the lid open, dipping his cracker straight into the jar and scooped the spread out then threw it in his mouth and chewed. That was when the door opened and he froze on the spot. It was too late for him to hide, and he was preparing himself for a lecture from Chishiya.
Except he was not alone.
Following behind was a woman.
“Hey,” Niragi greeted. They kicked their shoes off and Chishiya pulled the woman with him into his room, slamming the door and Niragi could hear the door locking. “Huh...that nerd’s gonna get laid.”
As soon as they were in his room, Kurenai threw her arms over his shoulders and held the back of his head while her lips were upon his. She jumped onto him and Chishiya carried her over to his bed, laying her down.
“It hurts, Doctor Chishiya,” Kurenai whispered, between kisses.
“Hm? Where does it hurt?”
“Everywhere. I’ve been aching for you.”
“Let’s see if you’re telling the truth.”
He had his hand under her dress between her legs, and he brushed against her already soaking wet underwear. Reaching inside, he pushed a finger in her and it easily slipped in. Kurenai arched her back, letting out a soft moan, gripping the bedsheets under her.
Using only his finger, Chishiya was enjoying the expressions on her face. The way she would let out a gasp then bite her bottom lip to stop herself from moaning. She held onto him, biting into his shoulder while grinding her hips, like she was asking for more. When it seemed like she was near the end, he pulled his finger out and licked it clean.
Kurenai sat up, pulling him in for a kiss while she worked on undoing the buttons on his shirt. She fumbled a little, getting frustrated that the top button was not coming undone. Chishiya laughed, holding her hand and guided her slowly through all the buttons. His shirt was eventually thrown onto the floor a minute later.
“You know…” she mumbled, planting several kisses on his neck until she found a spot she liked. “I really wanted to have sex with you last time. When we were interrupted.” She nibbled on his skin, sucking and biting until a bruise was left behind.
“I really wanted it too,” he said, lifting her chin. “No one’s going to interrupt us tonight.”
“Then what are you waiting for?”
Leaning back, Kurenai laid on his pillows. She held her dress in her hands and was slowly pulling it up, keeping eye contact with Chishiya the entire time. She knew he could never resist her, not that he wanted to anyway.
Chishiya placed his hand on her thigh, caressing as it traveled further up her leg until he found her underwear. He hooked his finger around it and pulled, watching as it was sliding down her legs. He flung it over his shoulder and tugged Kurenai by her legs, pulling her down. He did not bother taking her dress off, he had no time for that.
Reaching over to the nightstand by the bed, he pulled the drawer open and grabbed the box of condoms that Niragi got him as a joke. ‘Not that I think you’re gonna get laid, but better safe than sorry,’ was his roommate’s exact words. Well, the joke was on him since Chishiya was having sex before he did.
Once he was ready, he positioned himself between her legs and pushed into her. She let out a moan with her sweet voice and Chishiya could not stop his hips from moving. He wanted to hear her moans more. He wanted to hear her call out his name in pleasure.
“Shit...Shuntarou! Fuck...it feels so good.”
“How good?” he asked, leaning down with each arm on either side of her head. His face was inches away from hers and Kurenai had her eyes closed out of embarrassment. “Come on, as your doctor, I need to know the details. Tell me.”
“Damn you, Shuntarou…”
She turned her head to the side but Chishiya grabbed her face, making her look at him. The Kurenai underneath him right now, the one he was thrusting into, was different to the usual Kurenai. Compared to her normal dominant personality, she was rather submissive in bed, which was a pleasant surprise for Chishiya.
“Come on now, tell me,” he whispered, kissing along her jawline. “Does it still hurt? Or do you feel good?”
“It feels...feels good.”
“How good?”
“So good!”
“And who’s making you feel good?”
“You! You are! Shuntarou, you are!”
“Good girl.”
He quickened his pace, and Kurenai’s moans were getting louder as she called his name. Chishiya was letting out a few moans himself and he could feel himself getting close to an orgasm. So was Kurenai, judging by the way her nails were digging into his back, and how her teeth were sinking into his shoulder.
A few more thrusts later, she dug her heels into the mattress and her toes were curling. She pushed her hips down onto his, while Chishiya was riding his orgasm out.
They were both out of breath by the time he was pulling out, but Kurenai was looking at him as if she wanted more. He wanted more too, as his body was responding honestly to her. With a new condom on, they were ready to go for another round.
So engrossed with each other and the amorous activities, they soon lost track of time. By the time they were finally satisfied, there was only about another hour before the sun was coming up. Falling asleep in each other’s arms, when Kurenai woke up, it was still early in the morning.
Chishiya’s face was right next to hers when she opened her eyes, and she could not help the soft smile spreading on her face. She never thought there would be a day when she would be happy to wake up next to someone. She stroked his cheek gently, moving a little so she could kiss him.
“Did you not have enough last night?” Chishiya suddenly opened his eyes, rolling over so he was on top of her, pinning her hands over her head.
“I had plenty last night,” she grinned. “But I’d gladly have more of you whenever.”
He leaned down as if to kiss her but instead, he kissed her nose before rolling out of bed, grabbing a t-shirt on the chair. Kurenai pouted, sitting up and watched Chishiya walking out of his room. She grabbed his shirt off the floor, buttoning it up and followed after him.
While he was making coffee and a simple toast breakfast, she wrapped her arms around his waist and placed her head on his back. If this was what domestic life was like with someone, she would not mind at all.
A wolf whistle from behind interrupted the couple, and Chishiya instinctively hid Kurenai behind him. The fact that he had a roommate completely slipped his mind, and Kurenai only had on his shirt that just about covered her bottom.
“You guys were loud last night,” Niragi said, walking over to pour himself a cup of coffee. “Didn’t know you had it in you, nerd.”
“There’s a lot you don’t know about me.”
“Hey missy, if you think this nerd is good in bed, you’re really missing out with me.”
“No thank you,” Kurenai said. “Shuntarou’s the only one for me.”
“Let’s go out for breakfast instead,” Chishiya said, taking Kurenai’s hand.
-Later that night-
Niragi knocked on Chishiya’s door, walking in with a package in his hands. Chishiya looked up from his desk with a frown. So many times he had told Niragi to wait for permission to come in. So many times he simply ignored Chishiya.
“Hey, your girl sent me a package,” he said.
“Kurenai?”
“That’s what it says on the card,” Niragi said, showing Chishiya the card that came with the package.
Sorry about last night. This is compensation. - Chuya Kurenai
Opening the box, Niragi reached in and pulled out a pair of brand new noise cancelling headphones. Chishiya smirked at the present, while Niragi was less than impressed. “Your girl’s really something else.”
dreaming of you
word count: 1.4k
warnings: none, just good ol’ fluff and maybe a lil’ bit sad (mentions of death)
Marcus Moreno hated PA meetings at his daughter’s school but he put up with them for her. And maybe seeing you was an added bonus, definitely not the only reason he came to the school hall where Karen would speak for hours about upcoming events on the makeshift podium set up in the middle of the room.
It was difficult sitting on a crappy chair surrounded by other parents, mainly mothers, while they spoke about their kids achievements and how they were going to help out with the next bake sale. But he did it for the sake of Missy and his mother who would twist his ear if he even mentioned something about not attending.
He missed his wife.
It had been a year since her passing and it had been busy for him with having to shoulder her responsibilities. How she seemed to manage it with ease would forever dumbfound him. Between work and looking after his kid, his plate was too full to handle even more, including the upcoming dance which Missy had not stopped talking about since it was announced.
Thankfully his mother was handling the dress she was wanted to wear and everything else in that department. He knows that he wouldn't have been able to handle seeing it, his girl growing up and going to a dance with a boy, something she had mentioned nonchalantly during a (failed) breakfast one morning which made him spill his coffee on his shirt.
He felt guilty. Missy had mentioned all the events happening at her school but every time, he had been too busy to help out in any way, his mother often taking his place. It had almost made him cry when his own child comforted him one evening, telling him that everything was going to be okay without his wife, without her mom. She was the best thing in his life.
Somehow, he had been free to attend this evenings meeting, something multiple of the parents had pointed out during their conversations with him. It made him want to tear his hair out, their condescending tones ridiculing his attempts at being a ‘good’ dad.
He had quickly made his way to the small buffet table, pouring a cup of coffee in an attempt to ignore the others talking about him. That was the moment you had stood next to him, offering a small smile which made his heart skip a beat as you picked up some of the pastries on offer.
Like him, you could only attend a couple of meetings now and then. He had spotted you the one time he managed to make an appearance, sitting alone in the corner of the hall and talking into your phone. One of the mother’s had seen him staring and made his way over to him, nodding her head towards where you sat. He had learnt your name that day and about the custody battle over your son.
He had never managed to work up the courage to go up to you and spark a conversation.
“The school dance is only a couple of days away people! We need volunteers to help with setting up the decorations, food, music.”
Karen’s voice rings out as her eyes scan the crowd and Marcus, in an attempt to not get picked, looks down at the floor. He hears your name being called and his head turns towards you, a small frown on your face as you shrug your shoulders. Decorations. Not his strongest skill but if it meant helping you then he would do it.
He puts his hand up to volunteer, making your glance at him, eyes a bit wider than usual but then you smile at him, a genuine one that would have surely knocked him off of his feet if he hadn't been sitting down. Yeah, he would decorate the hell out of this hall if it meant he got to spend the time with you.
~~~
“I think the banners would look good hanging from here.”
It was the second day of decorating the hall to make it look like the bottom of the ocean, it was a shit theme but a school classic that he's pretty sure every kid has experienced in middle school. It was also something that you had laughed at as soon as Karen had walked away from the two of you after handing what must have been dozens of boxes that smelled faintly of dust.
“Y’know,” you begin as you hand him one of the banners covered in multicoloured animals that live under the sea as he stands on top of the ladder. “I just realised that you've only spoken a total of five times to me and most of them were ‘hello’s’.”
It’s not malicious in any way but it makes Marcus’ lips turn downwards into a frown and cheeks to burn uncontrollably as you smile up at him. He clears his throat but decides not to speak, too afraid of messing up or saying the wrong thing and instead shrugging a shoulder as he focuses solely on sticking the banner to top of the wall.
“Is Missy looking forward to the dance? I overheard that she even has a date.”
Dammit. He knows you asked a question on purpose, can see it in the way you smirk to yourself, eyes gleaming slightly as you glance up at him from fiddling with another decoration. It would be rude not to answer you so he sighs, pushing his glasses up his nose as he slowly climbs down the ladder to stand in front of you.
“Yeah, she is. Won’t stop talking about it and won't stop talking about...Kyle.”
You laugh lightly at the obvious disgust on his face as he moves past you to the boxes settled on the floor. He shifts through all the decorations and out of the corner of his eye he sees you lean against the wall, arms crossed as your eyes look him over.
“Are you chaperoning? I somehow managed to get roped into doing it.” You watch as he nods his head, standing up and groaning at the way the bones in his body crack with the movement. “Would you maybe-do you want to hang out? We could spy on our kids and we could even pretend that the punch is has alcohol in it.”
He gasps dramatically, a hand on his chest in an attempt to distract himself at the way his heart beats rapidly in his chest. “Are you asking me to be your date to the dance?”
You laugh and it sounds angelic to him.
“I would love to go to the dance with you.”
~~~
Multiple colours dance across the walls and the decorations you and him worked your asses on making sure were perfect, painting them in reds, greens, pinks, oranges and blues. It surprises him how the two of you managed to actually make it look good and seeing all the kids admire and take pictures with each other makes him happy.
He was standing by the buffet table, a duty that had been assigned to him as soon as he had dropped off Missy, fully intent on waiting for you to arrive, before Karen had intercepted him and dragged him over to the table. At least it would keep him busy from looking over at Missy who was talking to that Kyle kid.
“She looks like she’s having a nice time.”
Your voice snaps him out of his thoughts and a smile spreads across his face as he looks up at you, looking a little out of breath but still here.
“It looks like it. I still don't like that kid though.”
You laugh, eyeing the platters of food on the table. “So, table duty. Karen’s really got a thing for you if she gave you this, cause it’s the best gig to have at this thing.”
He hesitates, his mind telling him to stop, to not say what he want to say. But then he’s reminded of how lonely he feels, how his wife had told him that he should find someone to spend the rest of his life with. Missy, his own kid, had seen the way he smiled when he came home after spending the afternoon hanging up decorations with you.
“That’s a shame,” he says and your eyes meet. “Because I have a thing for this other person.”
“Oh really?” Your eyebrows lift, leaning on the table and closer to him. Inside him, it feels like fireworks are about to go off. “Well maybe you should do something about it. I’m pretty sure they're free next Friday.”
“See the thing is I'm not sure if they would want to-”
“They definitely do, Marcus Moreno.”
“Well then,” he says as you take a step back from the table, wide smiles on both of your faces. “I could pick them up at around seven.”
“I’m looking forward to it.”
Chapter Index
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
If you had asked Ingrid a month ago if Felix would ever willingly allow someone, anyone, to touch him in even the most casual of ways, she would have laughed first, then immediately sent for Manuela because no one in their right mind would ever think such a thing.
So understandably, to say Ingrid is extremely shocked as she watches the older versions of Felix and Sylvain interact with each other is the understatement of the century.
“They’re disgustingly adorable in their own way,” Dorothea snickers from her seat on the dining hall bench beside her. “I don’t know whether I want to coo or puke.”
Ingrid wholeheartedly agrees.
Clearly fatherhood and marriage, or maybe it was being married to Sylvain of all people, has changed Felix – has made him more… domestic. The Felix and Sylvain of her timeline are already joined at the hip, regardless of how much they deny it, but married Felix and Sylvain are in a league of their own.
Everywhere Felix goes, Sylvain is always there beside him with the shorter man’s battle scarred hand tucked neatly into the crook of his right elbow, his left hand gently securing Felix’s own while also proudly showing off the glittery silver ring adoring his ring finger (his engagement ring, Ingrid reminds herself, as Sylvain had made very clear when he decided that the dining hall was a perfect place to scandalize the entire army with a borderline inappropriate kiss). And if little Sophie is with them, it is like an invisible thread ties them together, ensuring that he is standing no further than a hairs breadth apart from his husband with his daughter in his arms, or placing a hand on Felix’s lower back while he carries their little spitfire.
“I know that couples inevitably begin to adopt some of their partner’s characteristics and habits, but this is almost too much.” Ingrid frowns, finally bringing her forkful of food to her mouth after being frozen in place as she blatantly stares at the happy family. “It’s like Felix isn’t even Felix anymore.”
Across from her, Annette hums her assent. “It’s a bit unsettling, but it’s still really nice to see how happy they are. If you ask me, the really creepy thing is Sylvain’s stare. Have you seen it, yet? It’s like an exact copy of Felix.” Bits of buttery crust go flying from her fork as she waves it around to emphasize her point leaving Mercedes to pull out a handkerchief and mop up the stray crumbs that have found their way onto their once pristine table.
It’s true. Although Ingrid has not been on the receiving end of Felix’s (or Sylvain’s now, for that matter) deadpan glare for a long time, she has seen it directed at others – especially when it comes to anything regarding Sophie who is, clearly, extremely doted upon by her two fathers, even while they try to cajole her into finishing the rest of her vegetables.
“Sweetheart, you know you have to finish your meal first before you get your dessert.” Sylvain’s tone is low and chiding, but the softness of his expression very nearly undermines the authority of his words.
“I don’t wanna,” comes the sad whimper complete with puppy eyes and a wobbling lower lip. “It tastes yucky.”
“Aww, cut her some slack, guys!” Whatever else Balthus is about to say from across the table next to theirs is immediately swallowed back down when not only Felix, but Sylvain as well, levels him with a look so equally unamused that even Ingrid can feel the shiver run down her spine.
“Sophia Gabriella Fraldarius-Gautier. You know you cannot leave your seat until you’ve finished your plate.” Felix says, more stern than his husband sitting on the other side of Sophie, but still bordering the line of fond exasperation. With a grimace himself, Felix spears a few of the sprouts on his own fork and shovels them into his mouth.
“Papa is also eating them too, see? You can be a good girl and finish your food too, right, Princess?” Sylvain smiles affectionately but his voice is strained. It’s been the better part of an hour now that he has tried bargaining with his daughter and even the most patient of fathers has a limit. His eyes meets Felix’s briefly as an unspoken message flits between them before Felix nods stiffly and chimes in again.
“If you promise to be good and finish your vegetables for the rest of this month, we will think about letting you go see the market that is passing through town.”
Clearly, it is an effective bait and Sophie’s eyes light up like it’s Yule and her birthday all rolled into one.
“Really?!”
This is news to Ingrid. The last time Annette and Mercedes had mentioned it in passing to future Felix and Sylvain, testing the waters to see if they would be amenable to allowing them to take Sophie, it had resulted in a resounding ‘no’ and one teary child.
“This is war, Annie.” Felix had said in a no nonsense tone after a sniffling Sophia had been carted off to check out the pastries fresh from the kitchen. “She has only known a time of peace. Sophie doesn’t understand how dangerous it can be going out somewhere even as simple as a market in times of unrest.”
“But it’s not like we’d let her go by herself!” Annette argued. “We would be with her the whole time!”
“It’s not your babysitting skills that we’re worried about, Annie.” Sylvain said. His lips quirked upwards in a small smile that did little to lessen the gravity of his expression. “Sophie has a tendency to be ah, a bit of a curious child.”
Felix snorted. “Like someone I know,” he muttered under his breath.
“And so,” Sylvain continued, completely ignoring the barb from his husband even though he knows that later on in the privacy of their own room, he’ll get into how the curiosity may have come from him, but the utter fearlessness and stubborn will to do her own thing one hundred percent came from Felix. “Sophie has a bad habit of wandering off. Goddess knows she’s done it loads of times whenever Felix or I take her down to our local market. The only difference is that everyone there knows who she is and at the end of the day, nothing bad ever happens to her and she comes home with a treat or two and a pat on the head.”
“Well then, we can just hold her hand!” Mercedes says like it is the simplest solution in the world.
“We’ve tried that. We’ve tried literally everything under the sun short of actually tying her to us physically with a rope.”
“But what about-“
“No means no, Annette. We will not argue with you about this. It’s not safe.”
“But Feeelix-!”
And that was the end of that conversation. At least, until now.
But then again, Felix willingly reopening a topic he had previously considered closed is probably one of the lesser odd things that have been happening recently.
“Nuh uh, little missy. All your vegetables means all of them.” Sylvain scrapes the larger bits and pieces of vegetables dotting Sophie’s plate to the center, much to her dismay. The scraps amount to a decent pile of greens and not for the first time, Ingrid realizes just how wily and intelligent Sophie really is.
Raising a daughter with the will of Felix and the looks and intelligence of Sylvain will surely be a trial in itself, but that’s not a problem for Ingrid to worry about. Right now, she just has to worry about making herself scarce when Sylvain and Felix approach Mercie and Annie before she gets dragged into it as well.
----
“Why can’t Daddy come with us?” Sophie asks. Her eyes are wide and sad and Felix will never get used to how it makes his heart wrench. “Did I do something wrong?”
“No, baby. You didn’t do anything wrong.” Sylvain crouches so that he’s eye level with his teary daughter. “Daddy has to go to an important meeting with Uncle Dima, Uncle Claude, and Auntie By. But I’ll come find you and Papa if we finish early.” Sylvain smooths back the unruly crimson curls that are already starting to come out of the half updo that Felix had put in this morning. After years of doing his daughter’s hair, Felix has resigned himself to always fixing it halfway through the day lest it becomes a true bird’s nest at night after the wild adventures to be had.
“Promise?” Her lower lip is wobbling and Felix is starting to think that perhaps Sophie is a lot more aware of her influence on others than they think she is.
“I promise, sweetheart.” Sylvain smiles at his daughter before turning his eyes to Felix, a mischievous glint shining through. “Your Papa can vouch that I never break a promise.”
The wink Sylvain throws at him is met with an eyeroll and scoff, but Felix cannot stop the small quirk of his lips. Sylvain has always come through with his promises, both to him and to their daughter. It’s one of the things that Felix loves so dearly about Sylvain after all – there is nothing in the world that he values more than the trust of his family and friends.
“Sophie, go check to make sure you’ve packed your coin purse and a snack. I need to speak with your father for a bit. I’ll meet you at the gates with Auntie Annie and Mercie, okay?”
Sophie doesn’t need to be told twice. She is already vibrating off the walls, eager to get going and visit the market that she has been dying to see. “Yes, Papa. Daddy, I hope you come soon! I’ll buy you a present, so make sure you hurry, okay?”
Felix and Sylvain both watch as their daughter scurries away, red hair flying behind her as she weaves through the mid morning crowd to join Annette and Mercedes standing at the foot of the stairs leading to the Entrance Hall. When she arrives with a hop and skip, Felix finally feels the knot that has been building in chest since that morning abate slightly.
“Hey.”
Felix jolts at the warm hand that cups his elbow. “It’s okay, Fe. She’ll be safe with you. We’re not going to lose her.”
“I know.” Felix huffs, taking a step forward so he can rest his forehead in the dip of Sylvain’s collar. “It’s just... I can’t help but worry.”
Sylvain chuckles, “I get it, Fe. She’s certainly got enough mischief in her to always keep us on our toes. I don’t think she’ll ever grow out of it, to be honest. Goddess knows I dread the day when I’m going to have to beat back suitors and stop her from sneaking out to gallivant with stable boys.”
“There will be no gallivanting with anyone. Period. I would prefer not to stab someone less than half my age.”
“Oh, but baby you look so hot when you’re all riled up and murderous.” The shiver that runs down Felix’s spine is undeniable and after a lifetime together, Sylvain would know the effect he has on his husband even if it weren’t for the hand sliding to wrap around his waist and the other reaching up to cup a smooth, pale cheek.
“Fuck you.” There’s no venom behind his words. Only the breathy whisper of comfort borne from unshakeable trust and love.
“Gladly, but alas I have a meeting to get to.” The red head lets out a full belly laugh and ignores the half-hearted smack from Felix (which still smarts, because Felix at half strength is still stupidly strong with his damn training regimen). “Are you going to talk to your younger self today?”
The atmosphere takes on a decidedly more sombre note, but it’s a necessary topic.
Felix nods. “Yeah. Annie convinced him to come with us to the market to check out the blacksmith.”
“I’m sorry I can’t come. It would be easier if I were the one to talk to him, but…”
“It’s fine,” Felix shakes his head. “The next battle at Fort Merceus is important and you were a big part of the strategizing. You need to be there to make sure they make the right decisions.”
“Even still. Talking to your younger self about feelings is going to be like pulling teeth. I should know. I’m your very own Felix-whisperer after all.” Sylvain closes his eyes and lets his forehead drop to rest against Felix’s; his soft breath tickling the midnight bangs framing his husband’s visage. “Our younger selves need all the help they can get. Sothis… I don’t remember us being such a disaster.”
“Neither do I, and yet here we are stuck trying to convince our younger counterparts that the other is very much interested.”
“For the record,” Sylvain smirks. The hand that was previously wrapped around Felix’s waist is now slowly drifting lower. “I’d like to say that I’m still very much interested.”
“Pinch my ass in public and you’ll lose your hand.”
“Aw, Fe. You’re no fun!”
It’s the twitch of Felix’s cheek that betrays his amusement. “Tch. Insatiable.”
----
Awkward.
That’s the only way that Felix can even begin to describe the odd, tense energy that weighs down their group as they walk leisurely down the long winding roads descending from Garreg Mach.
To be fair, most of the awkwardness is in part due to Felix’s refusal to speak to his younger self, instead choosing to contentedly watch Sophie hop and skip around the flowers dotting their path. Ever since Sylvain’s decision to completely disregard time travel etiquette, the younger Felix had made himself scarce, pointedly avoiding him and his husband as if afraid that he would catch feelings simply by being around them.
Ha. That fucker was already head over heels in love no matter how much he denied it.
“Sophie, when we get to the market, will you go with Annie and Mercie while I visit the blacksmith please?” Felix says it quiet enough that it sounds like it is a private conversation, but in the silence of the forest around them, it easily carries.
Sophie blinks, confused, but acquiesces. “Okay.”
Felix smiles and pats her head. He can practically feel the suspicion and irritation rolling off his younger self in waves, but he can’t really bring himself to care.
He needs to address this issue now because Felix knows better than anyone else just how obstinate he can be, and if he’s right, there’s a very good chance that this younger version of himself will take his feeling for Sylvain with him to the grave out of pure stubbornness.
So when they finally arrive to the market, Felix doesn’t even try to hide the fact that he wants to talk to his counterpart – alone. He kneels and gives Sophie a quick hug after he makes her promise again to not wander off by herself before standing off to the side in the direction of the blacksmith, his arms crossed and waiting patiently while he watches young Felix scowl at the sheer number of people around.
A brusque nod from young Felix and suddenly they are face to face, and there is no denying the discomfort starting to roil in his gut.
Maybe he should have waited for Sylvain to talk to him after all.
“Well? Spit it out.” Despite asking Felix to talk, his younger self pushes past him roughly and begins stalking towards their destination.
“Stop being so stubborn.” Young Felix whirls around at him with a look of incredulity.
“Being ‘stubborn’?” He glowers. “I’m not being stubborn. I’m not being anything except for a pawn of fate apparently because my whole damn future has already been decided for me!”
Ah. So that is the core of the problem. “Your future hasn’t been decided. That’s the whole point of me being here – so that we can make sure that things do happen as they originally went.”
“Oh, so I’m just supposed to accept the fact that my life becomes sickeningly domestic –“ he all but spits the word out like poison, “- and I’m trapped in a life that I never wanted?”
Felix narrows his eyes. “So you’re saying you don’t want this life? You don’t want peace for Fodlan? You don’t want to actually feel happy for the first time your goddamn life since Glenn died?”
“Who the fuck are you to say whether I’m happy or not? I’m happy when I have a blade in my hand, not when I’m being carted around like a… like a stupid trophy wife!”
“First of all,” Felix is proud of how level his voice comes out despite his urge to throttle the man in front of him, “I’m you, so of course I know what you want. I lived that life already.”
He pauses for a bit and then decides to go for a different angle – one that he knows has always worked with him when Sylvain tries to talk him down from stabbing some of the more pompous nobles during trade talks.
He takes a deep breath to ground himself. “But you’re still you. I can’t say I know exactly what you’re feeling, but I can imagine because at the core of everything, I know what I used to be like back then. And I also know that no matter what timeline I exist in, there will always be one thing that remains constant.”
It’s true. There is one truth that Felix knows will span the test of time and space no matter what version of himself he is dealing with.
“…Are you ever going to tell me what it is?” Young Felix mutters angrily, breaking their brief standstill.
Marriage really has made him soft, Felix thinks as he feels the corners of his mouth curl up in a smile. He can practically hear Sylvain in his head telling him about how he probably has his ‘dopey love face’ on right now and his eyes are all ‘melted amber’. What a sentimental fool.
“I think you know.”
“Ugh,” Young Felix scowls and turns away to glare at the bucket of swords in front of the blacksmith’s stall. It’s an admission if Felix has ever heard one, and he knows that his younger self does know.
Despite what the majority of Fodlan thinks, Felix is quite capable at reading people’s emotions. He knows when people feel uncomfortable or when they might need a kind word, but for the most part, he just doesn’t care enough to coddle them because he knows it will only do them more harm than good. Which is exactly why he decides to jump straight to the truth.
“It’s okay to love him, you know.”
Young Felix freezes. The stiff set of his shoulders hunch up almost protectively and he stubbornly stays facing away from him.
“I know…” Felix swallows the lump in his throat, “I know that it’s hard to even think about letting anyone in after Glenn – how hard it is to trust someone enough and believe that they won’t just leave you like everyone else inevitably does.”
Felix touches the obsidian ring on his left hand. He spins it absently and the smooth slide of the black band against his hand grounds him.
“Mother… Glenn… and then Father…” Felix has long made his peace with his father’s death, but there is still the faintest of stings in his heart when he thinks about it. “They all left us. But Sylvain has always been there. He was there when Mother died. He stayed with us for weeks after Glenn died. And he never pitied or babied us when Father died. He was just there.”
It’s a bit hazy, most memories from the war blur together honestly, but Felix does remember the days after the battle at Gronder with crystal clarity – those few painful days after his father’s sacrifice. No matter how many times he told Sylvain to leave, no matter how he yelled at him or tried to chase him away, Sylvain stood by him, steadfast and most importantly, without judgement.
He simply let Felix be.
And that was exactly what he needed.
“He’s the biggest idiot in Fodlan, but you and I both know that Sylvain does everything in his power to care for his friends and family.” Felix says it like it like he’s stating the obvious. “He’s also irresponsible and completely reckless, and Goddess knows that moron wouldn’t sustain half of his injuries if he just trained more, but he does remember our promise. And he’s doing his best to keep it while also making sure we stay alive.”
Felix steps forward so that he’s now standing side by side with his younger self. From his peripheral vision, he can see the furrowed brow and tightly pursed lips that he knows only happens when he begrudgingly agrees.
“I know you don’t believe in a fated future. Honestly, neither do I. But if there’s one thing I can tell you for certain, it is that loving Sylvain, and being loved in return, is the best thing that will ever happen to you.” Felix allows the warmth in his chest to bloom. While that feeling may have scared him once upon a time, he’s learned to become fond of it because he knows that the only reason he can feel this way is because he has come so far and conquered all his demons along the way.
“You’re disgustingly sentimental.”
“Maybe so, but I can still kick your ass.”
Young Felix snorts, “maybe then I’d actually have a good spar for once that isn’t against the professor.”
Felix laughs quietly, the heavy weight on his chest lifting just as the tension eases out of Young Felix’s stance. The truth is out there, and at least his younger self isn’t denying things anymore, but ultimately it will be up to Young Felix to decide the path he wants to take.
Felix Fraldarius is many things, but most importantly he is not a coward, which is why despite not having verbally settled the matter with his younger self, he knows with absolute certainty that Young Felix will never turn away from Sylvain, especially not when he’s been given permission to chase that happiness that he’s longed for.
----
Sophie decides very quickly that the market is her new favourite place. Forget the kitchens and all their yummy baked treats, the marketplace has all that and more.
Everywhere she looks, there is something new to see. Stalls upon stalls are lined with various treasures and fancy looking things that no amount of tears would help escape the wrath of her fathers if, by some stroke of bad luck, she is unfortunate enough to break them.
“Auntie Mercie! Look, Balloons!”
Sophie tugs on the healer’s hands eagerly, careful not to let go and wander off though there is a tiny whisper in her heart that tempts her so. The large inflated animals sway merrily in the breeze, and with the hustle and bustle of the environment around them, it almost looks as if they are dancing with excitement.
“Oh, aren’t they adorable? Would you like one, Sophie?” Mercedes claps her hands together, looking just as delighted as Sophie feels and soon, the trio of females is making their way through the surprisingly large crowd that has gathered for this lively gathering as a reprieve from the war.
“The fox,” Sophie pulls on Mercedes’ hand even more urgently the closer they get. “I want the fox, please, Auntie Mercie!”
“What about the cat, Sophie? That’s one is pretty cute.” Annette giggles. The red headed mage ducks and peers left and right at the variety of floating animals attached to the belt of the balloon vendor. There is already a gaggle of children forming around the man as he hands ribbons off to parents in exchange for gold, and although Sophie feels like she might burst if she has to wait any longer, she knows to wait her turn for the man to address her.
“Hello there, young miss. And what can I get for you today?” When the man finally turns his kind face towards her, Sophie cannot tear her eyes away from her goal. “Perhaps a bird? Or maybe a puppy?”
Sophie’s voice comes out breathy and excited. Reaching a hand up, she points eagerly, “the fox please. Can I have the fox?”
“Of course! Why don’t you reach out your hand for me and I’ll tie it to your wrist?”
Obediently, Sophie sticks out her left arm and watches, enraptured as the white ribbon loops delicately around her wrist, loose enough that she can slip her hand out if she really wanted to, but tight enough that the balloon will not fly away. Reaching into the small coin purse attached to her hip, Sophie carefully counts out the appropriate amount and hands them over.
“Thank you!” Sophie calls out after the vendor as Annette and Mercedes begin leading her away from the throng. It’s much too crowded now, but the little Fraldarius-Gautier cannot help but feel comforted by her floating guardian. Papa did always say that her Daddy was ‘sly as a fox’ after all, and it feels like her father is there with her when she sees it.
“Do you think Daddy will like it?” Sophie mumbles shyly when they’ve walked far enough that the screams of delighted children are nothing more than a whisper in the distance.
“I’m sure Sylvain will love it!” Mercedes says sweetly. The healer looks at Sophie with a mixed expression, almost like she is trying to solve a puzzle that she can’t quite figure out, before Annette interrupts her with a gasp.
“Mercie, there’s the sweets vendor that we’ve been looking for!”
Sweets? Sweets are good. That sounds like something Sophie is definitely interested in.
“Come on,” Annette urges. She grabs Mercedes by the hand and by extension, also Sophie, who is clutching onto her other one, and she drags them with haste towards a brightly colored stall laden with pastries and sweet treats of all kinds.
The saccharine smell wafting from the baked goods makes Sophie’s mouth water, but her eyes dart from one flamboyantly decorated cupcake to another, helplessly unable to pick a favourite.
“Hey! I remember you two!” The friendly looking lady behind the counter smiles as they approach. “You ladies came by my stall the last time I was in town, didn’t you?”
Annette flushes and nods. “The sweets were so good, we just had to make a return visit and pick up some more!” Despite her embarrassment, she is already reaching out to grab a fluffy looking cream pastry that looks more like a cloud than anything else.
“I’m so glad you like them, miss. Business has slowed down recently because of the war. Not much extra money to go towards frivolous things like sweets anymore, you know?” Sophie frowns. War? What war? “Regular patrons like you are always appreciated.”
“Oh, and look at you, you sweet little thing,” Suddenly the attention is turned towards Sophie and any lingering confusion flies out the window. “What’s your name?”
“My name is Sophie!” With her fathers’ voices in the back of her head telling her to mind her manners, Sophie flashes her brightest smile and bobs gracefully into a quick curtsey. “It’s very nice to meet you. Your sweets look so yummy!”
“They’re the best in all of Fodlan, that’s for sure!” The kind looking lady proudly puffs her chest. “Have you ever tried some, little miss? Since it’s your first time, why don’t you go pick one and I’ll let you try it on the house.”
“Really?” Sophie’s eyes round with excitement. Daddy was right – being well mannered really does bring good things!
There are so many choices to choose from that it feels a little bit overwhelming, but eventually a beautiful deep red velvet cupcake topped with a mountain of chocolate frosting and a small candied cherry catches Sophie’s eye.
She likes cherries. She likes cupcakes. That’s two in one, isn’t it? It’s a perfect deal.
“Good choice, little miss. That’s our red velvet cupcake with black forest icing. It’s one of our more popular cakes; especially with the ladies.” The sweets lady holds out the cupcake to her and Sophie quickly lets go of Mercedes’ hand to receive it.
The monstrosity of a cupcake is so large that it takes Sophie both hands to hold it, taking great pains to not drop it nor smear any icing on her dress. She still remembers the scolding Papa had given her over the grass and mud stains in her dress a couple of weeks ago and is not eager to repeat that experience.
Above, her red fox sways gently to and fro, moving every time Sophie maneuvers her hands to nibble away at equal parts frosting and icing. She has long since tuned out from the conversation between the nice sweets lady and Mercedes and Annette, instead choosing to savor and enjoy her treat while it lasts.
Sophie is halfway done her cupcake when a raucous of children shrieking with delight steals her attention back in the direction of the balloon man. There, in the middle of a cluster of children stands a rather short and odd-looking man carting around a small trolley packed with stuffed animals, and at the very bottom, shoved against a dopey looking tiger and a rather ferocious lion is a black cat stuffy, complete with slitted golden eyes stitched painstakingly above some wiry whiskers and a kitten pout.
It’s the most wonderful stuffed kitty Sophie has ever seen. She has a present for Daddy, but what about Papa? Surely Papa would also like a gift – it’s only fair since Daddy gets one, right? Right. Her fathers had always taught her to treat everyone equally, and Sophie feels like that must include her family as well.
Annette and Mercedes are still engrossed in conversation with the Sweets Lady, but now their arms are full of bags laden with goodies they are no doubt brining back to the monastery. An itch like no other claws its way up Sophie’s chest and she really, really wants to ask for permission to go see the toy merchant, but she doesn’t want to interrupt what looks to be a very lively conversation.
One quick glance back makes the anxiousness double as the man begins to move towards an intersection across the courtyard from them. If he goes any further, he will turn the corner and Sophie will lose sight of him.
The gleeful squealing of laughter is getting farther and farther away now. She really should tell Mercedes and Annette where she is going, but she’s running out of time and Sophie will be absolutely heartbroken if her Papa is sad that he did not get a gift from her as well.
It will only be for a quick minute. She isn’t going very far. All she will do is go up to the merchant and buy the cat stuffy and return back to the sweets stall in no time at all.
Right?
.
.
.
In that split second, Sophie makes a decision.
She turns back towards the bustling market square and runs.
Prompt 5 from the list pretty please!! We know Scully is just as obsessed with Mulder’s hair as we all are😍 would love to see how you’d write it!x
Well Anon, it took me a bit longer than I had hoped as this is just too fluffy to not write, but I hope you enjoy this story. I tweaked it just a bit, but I think it’s better this way. 😉
Kaleidoscope
Scully, although she may be hesitant to admit it, has a quite a predilection for Mulder's hair.
Missy was the one who taught her how to check out and assess a man’s ass, long before she actually knew what she truly was looking at or why. Intrigued and feeling grown up as they used the word ass, a swear they had been forbidden to say, Scully simply nodded in agreement at Missy’s explanation.
“See, Dana. Look how his ass fits so perfect in those jeans. That’s a nice ass. Unlike that guy over there…” Missy said in her all knowing tone, as she pointed and Scully looked to her left.
“Principal Monroe?!” she asked in horror and Missy burst out laughing. “Melissa Scully! I cannot believe you made me even look at that general area!” Missy laughed again as Scully shivered, and Principal Monroe turned their way and smiled. Scully pulled at Missy’s arm, leading her away as she snorted and giggled, Scully’s face aflame with embarrassment.
From that moment on, however, Scully’s eyes would flick down to a man’s ass as he walked away, grinning on the inside even as she shook her head, remembering Missy’s prank on her. Not to say that a cute ass was the only thing she noticed or cared about, but it did not hurt if a guy had one. Relationships big and small, she had regarded men based on their character, personality, and… yes, the cuteness of their ass.
In Oregon, on the first case with Mulder, she would have to admit to being a liar if she said she had not checked him out. He was brilliant and driven, yes, but he was also cute, just as she had later told Ellen.
What she did not tell Ellen however, was how she had noticed his ass, even as she knew she should not be doing so. He was her partner, her new partner, and she knew she should not be staring at him in that way. But then, she could imagine the look Missy would have given her as she stared at his ass, nodding with approval as he walked past, while Scully made eyes at her to stop and Missy laughed quietly.
All of her life, she had believed she held the cuteness of someone’s ass on a rather high scale. That was her belief, until the very first time she ran her fingers through Mulder’s hair.
Sick on a flight home, very early in their partnership, she had touched his forehead, sure he had a fever. He had been complaining of aches and his usual exuberance had diminished.
As she had moved her hand, trying to get a better idea if it was truly a fever, he had moaned and she had been unable to stop herself. Running her fingers into his hair, his eyes had closed as he leaned into her touch, and it felt as though a kaleidoscope of butterflies had suddenly been released in her stomach.
Pulling her hand away quickly, her heart racing as her fingertips remembered the softness of his hair and the warmth of his skin, he had opened his eyes.
“Is it a fever?” he had asked tiredly, his eyes closing again.
“No. Not a fever. I think you’re coming down with something though. Try and get some sleep. That will help.” She had swallowed, hoping her cheeks had not looked as flushed as they felt. He had nodded, leaning his head back with a sigh and another moan.
He was asleep within minutes and she stared at him as his mouth dropped open. Her fingers had itched to touch him, but she kept her hands to herself, as hard as it truly was. Watching him sleep, she had licked her lips and let out a sigh.
Don’t you dare, Dana, she had thought to herself. Not again. Not like Jack. Or…
But then Mulder had groaned, different than the other moans, and shifted in his sleep. Her hand seemed to have a mind of its own and she had raised it to his head and ran her fingers through his hair, not caring that she should not be doing it.
His hair was so soft and fluffy. She had smiled as she scratched softly at his scalp and he moaned quietly, leaning toward her, his head against the seat. He was a bit warm, but then so was she, the plane feeling overheated.
Or maybe it was the man beside her, whose hair seemed to pull at her like a magnet.
“Would you like something to drink?” A flight attendant had asked and Scully pulled her hand away from Mulder’s head, her cheeks once again burning.
“Uh… no. I’m okay,” she had said hurriedly, placing her hands in her lap, and the flight attendant walked away with a smile.
“Scully,” Mulder had sighed in his sleep with a soft moan, and she had smiled as she looked at him, resisting the urge to touch him again.
She had closed the window shade and closed her eyes, hoping both of them could get some much needed sleep.
_____________
After that first contact, she had used her medical degree as an excuse to touch him more than another partner may have. But… god knows he had landed himself into enough scrapes to justify her fingers on his flesh and especially in his hair, checking for an injury; real or imagined.
Even in those moments when the warmth of his skin was under her fingers, and was then later something she thought of alone at night, it did not compare to how they felt running through his hair.
She loved his hair.
The scent, the softness, styled or especially sticking up in the mornings as he yawned over coffee in some motel room, in some tiny town, in the middle of nowhere, as they reviewed their case. Those mornings, it was hard to resist reaching over and trailing her fingers through his bed head. The desire to smooth down his wayward hair as his eyes raised to hers, stirring the always present butterflies inside of her.
God…
Over the years, the touch became less professional and more personal. She felt it and she knew he did too. His eyes held hers when she would touch his face, her fingers inevitably pushing into his hair, lingering too long, but knowing it was safe and did not exactly cross the line they had created between them.
And then… one night, that simple touch was no longer enough.
Sitting on Mulder’s leather couch, a bit sleepy from the tea they had drunk and the stress associated with the shock of seeing the man she had thought she would spend the rest of her life with, she had leaned toward him as he sat on his coffee table in front of her.
“Mulder,” she had whispered, reaching up to stroke his face with both hands, her thumbs running softly across his lips. He had inhaled and then exhaled her name, almost like a warning.
Or a question.
And she had answered it.
The Navajo blanket bunched between them as she had kissed him, pressing her lips softly to his, her fingers becoming lost in his hair. His arms went around her waist and he had pulled her to him and into his lap, their lips never breaking contact.
She thought she had loved his hair before, but nothing compared to the feel of it between her fingers as his kiss intoxicated her, his touch aroused, and his body brought her to the height of pleasure.
More than once.
The butterflies did not rest that night, but flew around wildly inside of her until she had felt as though she herself could take flight, her body lighter than air.
____________________
The rain fell lazily against the motel room window, as though still unsure it wanted to be falling at all. Thunder rumbled, but it was sporadic and far off; no doubt the storm would blow away before it even truly began.
Cool air filled the small room, the rattle of the air conditioner a comforting and most welcome sound. The dark gray of the late afternoon was deceiving, for although it was gloomy and appeared cool, it had been hot and extremely muggy.
The preset agreed upon temperature was reached, and the rattling of the air conditioner stopped, allowing the weak sound of the rain to become a bit louder.
Scully smiled with a sigh as she slid her legs against the familiar scratchy motel sheets, some things never changing. How many beds had they slept in with cheap sheets, the scent of bleach and detergent surrounding them?
Mulder was asleep, his head at her naked breast, his chest rising and falling against her as he breathed in steadily. She ran her fingers lightly up his back, not wanting to wake him, but needing to touch him, despite the closeness of their bodies.
Her fingers moved up into his hair which had grown longer in the past few months. They kept to themselves as much as possible, and haircuts were luxuries they avoided, opting to do it themselves if need be.
She had given him only one, where he had given her a couple. He had not complained about the cut, although she knew he should have, as it was not her best work, and yet he had not asked her for another. It was now longer than she had ever seen in all of the years she had known him and she actually really liked it longer. It made him seem different, almost younger and happier, despite the worrisome life they were currently living.
Taking a deep breath, her nose at the crown of his head, she breathed in his scent, the one that lay beneath the smell of the citrusy motel shampoo they had used in their shared shower a couple of hours ago.
Closing her eyes, she sighed and rubbed his head, pulling lightly at his hair, the strands slipping like silk through her fingers. Smiling again, she exhaled and he stirred, moaning as he pulled her closer and breathed her name. Opening her eyes, she ran her fingers through his hair, and down his back.
“Hmm… what time is it?” he groaned, his breath warm on her flesh, goosebumps rising and her nipples hardening. He kissed the top of her breast and she moaned, her nails pressing into his skin.
“Does it really matter?” she whispered and he chuckled.
“I suppose not. But we should probably think about getting some food at some point.” He breathed softly and he kissed her breast again.
“I’m not hungry,” she said, her fingers back in his hair, as the rain began to fall slightly harder. “Besides, it’s raining out.”
“While you do taste sweet, Scully, I’m pretty sure you’re not made out of sugar. A little rain won’t cause you to melt. It never has before.”
“Hmm,” she hummed, letting him know she was not so sure about his statement and he chuckled again. Smiling, she played with his hair as the air conditioner rattled back on, cool air once more filling the room.
“Then a pizza it is I suppose,” he said over the hum of the motor. “But, you’ll need to put some clothes on before he gets here.”
“Nonsense. It might just get us a discount.”
“A discount?” he asked incredulously, raising up to look at her. She smiled as he scoffed, looking down at her breasts, and shaking his head. “We’d get the pizza for free. Forget some measly discount.” She laughed and he shook his head again. “A discount, Scully… come on.”
She ran her fingers through his hair, holding onto the ends of it as she stared into his eyes. “Have I mentioned how much I like your hair longer?”
“Hmm… not vocally, but I’ve noticed the extra touches and the way you run your fingers through it more. Why do you think I don’t want you to cut it?”
“Because I did such a horrible job last time?”
“Not at all. You did a great job.” She rolled her eyes and he smiled. “I’m serious. I liked it. Would have liked it even if I had ended up bald.” He shrugged and she shook her head.
“I would never go that far, but…” She smiled and sighed happily. “I really like it like this.” As she pushed his hair back, he closed his eyes and sighed contentedly. “We could order that pizza in a little while, right?” He opened his eyes and raised his eyebrows at her, a smile playing at his lips.
“Why? Did you have something you were thinking of doing in the meantime?”
She smiled, running her fingers through his hair, one eyebrow lifting up as his smile slowly grew wider.
“Oh.. I had something in mind all right. Something that requires nudity,” she said.
“Can’t possibly require more nudity than I can see right now.” He laughed quietly as she placed a hand on the back of his neck.
“Well...” she said with a smile, stroking his face gently. “I suggest you take full advantage of said nudity before I’m forced to cover up in order to pay for our dinner.”
He grinned with a nod as he moved over her and her arms looped around his neck, her fingers threading into his hair. His lips pressed gently to her own, the rain continuing to fall lazily, as the quiet but constant kaleidoscope of butterflies began to flutter to life.
Stay With Me | Dhawan!Master X Reader
REQUEST: ‘I have a request (with possible smut if you are ok writing it!) Dhawan!Master saves a female reader from something involving the Doctor (maybe the reader is bait for a monster that the Doctor is trying to take care of or something?) and takes her back to his TARDIS. They both have feelings for each other and at this point the reader is fed up with being at the whim of the Doctor and doesn't want to turn down the Master's advances any more, so she agrees to stay with him.’ (anonymous)
NOTES: Thank you so much for the request, I really liked this one, it was great fun to write, the ideas just came to me with this one so I kinda went crazy. Although there is no smut in this there is some making-out. This is set after The Timeless Children, so spoiler warning I guess. Hope you enjoy xX
WORD COUNT: 1728
WARNINGS: A lot of sadness, mention of injuries, slight mention of death, and some making-out. The gif is not mine, as always.
You had known the Doctor for years now, first meeting them when you were a teenager and they were a dark haired northern man. You never stayed with the Doctor for long, you’d stay for a couple of journeys and leave. But you’d always find yourself coming back to them and going on another journey. You’d seen the Doctors many faces, you’d seen them at their best and at their worst. But you’d never seen her like this.
Yaz caught you up to speed. She told you everything that you missed, spearing no detail. She told you about the Master's return to the Cybermen. From being sent to prison to Ryan and Graham deciding that their time with the Doctor was up. It was a lot, you understood why she was acting the way she was, but you didn’t like it. The Doctor was taking more risks not realising it was at yours and Yaz’s expense. She wasn’t thinking past tomorrow, this was why you stayed with her. The universe needed the Doctor, but not like this. She was also lying more, but that didn’t surprise you much. The Doctor had been lying long before all this, and you could hardly judge, you had secrets of your own.
You had seen the Master since the destruction of Gallifrey, he showed up on your doorstep, hurt and broken. Despite not seeing this new form of his, you knew it was him straight away. At first you wanted to slap him, for Martha, for Bill, for Missy. But the hopeless and painful look in his eyes made you stop. He was more damaged than before, you found yourself pitying him. Despite all you knew about the time-lord you let him into your home and helped him recover from his bruises and scars. He made you promise not to tell the Doctor he was alive, but not with his usual threats of violence. He sounded like he was begging you. He eventually left your home, but he kept coming back every so often. Sometimes he would have something new to say, to get off his chest and other times he’d say nothing, you presumed he just needed the company. As it became a regular occurrence you reluctantly gave him a spare key. You’d talk to him for hours, he was rather good company. Something you never thought you’d say. Over time you knew he was a changed man, he was far from Harry Saxon or Missy. The Master was an entirely different person. He was the reason why you met up with the Doctor again. You had to find out what was going on.
Which brought you here. Stuck on an alien planet, hiding from giant, hairy, flesh eating monsters who had a particular craving for humans that day. The three of you were hiding in an area of long grass trying to think of a way back to the TARDIS, which they happened to be guarding. Of course the flesh eating monsters had to be somewhat smart.
“I’m gonna see if there is another way,” the Doctor said as she army crawled out of sight.
“She’s gone too far,” you said to Yaz, keeping your voice down.
Yaz nodded in agreement, “I can’t keep doing this. But I don’t know how to tell her.”
“I understand,” you wished you could tell her that leaving the TARDIS was an easy thing. But it wasn’t. No matter how many times you had done it, it was always tough. You looked over at Yaz, “You should take Jack’s offer.”
“How do you know about that?” Yaz questioned in a hushed tone.
“Jack texted me about it, he probably wanted me to chase you up about it.”
“I just don’t know if I can leave the Doctor, not while she’s like this.” Yaz looked as if she was about to cry, you placed your hand on hers, to steady her.
“You’ll see the Doctor again, it’s never the end,” you said.
"I just don't think I could do it."
"Yaz, your life doesn't revolve around the Doctor," you said, getting a small laugh from Yaz.
"Maybe you should listen to your own advice," Yaz smiled, it was soft but there was a hint of sadness to it. “How did you leave the Doctor the first time?” Yaz asked.
“The first time I had no choice, the Doctor sent me and Rose home. Rose managed to save the Doctor, but I didn’t see them again till later that year. But the first time I left on my own was when Rose got trapped in another world. She needed some time alone to think.” You and Yaz both had a lot of time together to share stories of your travels, you told her the Doctors whole life story, well what you knew of it anyway.
“You think she needs some time alone again, to heal?”
“Yes,” you muttered just loud enough for Yaz to hear. “She needs to move on.”
The Doctor started shuffling back towards you, her face wasn’t showing any signs of hope. “Do ya want the good or the bad news first,” she said.
You and Yaz shared a look.
“Well, the good news is that I have a way out. The bad news is that it involves using myself as bait.”
“How are we meant to get back to Earth?” you questioned, “We can’t fly the TARDIS.”
“Didn’t I teach you, Y/N?” The Doctor said
“No.”
“I could have sworn I did," the Doctor scratched her head, thinking. "Huh…Maybe it was someone else.”
“Doctor use me as bait,” you said.
“No,” the Doctor looked at you, it was a look of warning. A look you never took any notice of before.
“Well my idea saves more of us and I wasn’t offering.” You didn’t dare look away from the Doctor. You wanted to try and see what she was thinking. You needed to outsmart her, just this one time.
“I just need more time to think,” the Doctor breathed.
“You’ve had hours,” you sighed, looking away from the Doctor so she couldn’t see what you were thinking. “Fine, five more minutes to come up with something Doctor,” you said, sternly.
You watched as the Doctor placed her fingers on her temple and began to think. You knew that she would probably be counting down the five minutes in that big brain of her as she thought of a solution. Two minutes passed, you looked over at Yaz as you slowly rose up from your spot. You smiled at Yaz, she knew what to do from here. You gave her a wink goodbye and started to sprint towards the monsters. You looked back, seeing that they were all following you. You could also see Yaz, putting the Doctor in the distance. You ran as far away from the TARDIS as you could, only stopping as you heard the little blue box leaving.
“Goodbye Doctor,” you whispered as you turned to face your death.
The sounds of the TARDIS came back, the monsters stopped in their tracks as they heard the sound.
“NO!” You screamed, “You weren't meant to come back! You idiot!”
It wasn’t the Doctor’s TARDIS that landed. Instead it was a little shack. The Master opened the door and didn’t move. He just slowly raised his arm and shot down all the monsters. It happened quickly. You just stood there blinking, struggling to process your thoughts.
“Are you coming or what?” The Master called out to you. He was a couple hundred meters away, he hadn’t moved from where he stood. He held out a hand, waiting for you to come to him.
You ran to him, you reached your hand out and grabbed his. He pushed you into his TARDIS, kicking the door shut with your foot.
“She shouldn’t have done this,” he began saying, his eyes searching your body for any injuries.
“It’s just a few cuts and bruises, Mas—”
“She really shouldn’t have done this,” he cut you off. His hand let go of yours, as he walked towards the kitchen and began rummaging through the draws. You followed him, jumping up onto the counter to sit down. He grabbed your arm again, putting plasters on your wounds. Even the small scratches.
You looked at your arm, now covered in plasters and back up at him. You raised an eyebrow.
“Too much?” He asked.
“Too much,” you confirmed.
He looked at you, contented, you could feel his warm breath on your face. You gave him a small half-smile.
“Thank you,” you said quietly. Your hand found his, your fingers touched his.
“It’s the least I could do,” he took your hand, his thumb gently traced the palm of yours. “Stay with me,” he said softly, “travel with me.”
“You want me to travel with you?” You were shocked. “What about my life back on Earth?”
“We both know you're addicted to this life,” the Master said the thing you could never admit to yourself. You always struggled to settle down on earth for a reason, it was the reason why you kept running back to the Doctor.
“I’ll think about it,” you said. You kissed the Master’s cheek, it felt like the right thing to do. You pushed yourself off the counter, your intention to leave the room.
“Y/N,” the Master grabbed you by the arm. He pulled you back. He looked at you for a moment, his eyes full of lust. He pulled you closer and then crashed his lips onto yours. You fell back in to the counter, while the Masters hands found their way to your waist. You thought about pulling away, never in a million years did you expect you’d be doing this. But at the same time it felt so right, like something you wanted for a long time. So, you placed your hands on his shoulders.
You eventually pulled away, both panting for breath. He pulled you into his chest, his chin rested on top of your head. You took in his scent, it was warm and calming. Your worry for the doctor slowly disappeared from your mind.
“I guess I could stay for a trip or two,” you said into his chest. A small smile appeared on his face as he planted a kiss on top of your head.
