Like...I am not DEEP into shipping dramas so I only occasionally see stray "Oh, you ship with Zenos? You must be the worst person in the world" level posts here and there. But from my own tiny corner of the internet, even I have seen posts about people being actively harassed off of shipping with Aymeric and it is almost always AYMERIC. I read a post back a while that during Heavensward the community were just not entirely "down" with shipping with NPCs in general so back lash over shipping with anyone was prevelant which doesn't make it any better but it was more so because, aforementioned Aymeric, pretty boy elf. I cannot say I am an official word on the matter, but that is just what I've read here and there. So...

I remember mama being so shocked by an episode of a TV show because that was the first time she learned there was a taboo against public breastfeeding in the States. She couldn’t wrap her mind around how they’d be okay with sexualized imagery and such, but not breastfeeding. ^^;;;;

Breastfeeding is very normalized in Muslim societies and that’s actually one of the reason Islamic hijab rules are so lax between women in sex-segregated spaces, they can expose their upper half from above the navel and below the knee too, as men do/did for work, for ease of breastfeeding! In mixed company/with men present, women’s hijab covers all but hands and face [scholarly opinions differ on the last one], so many women just drop their veils over their chests and nursing babies, it’s common in public, never heard outcry about it. It’s just not a thing people consider shocking or inappropriate at all. When I was in a mostly partitioned medical school (we had male and female instructors, but the male and female students did not generally see each other/occupied separate halves of the building with their own classrooms and even separate entrances!), I once found a classmate alone after class using one of those electronic pumps. It’s just ordinary.

The episode also referenced Lady Godiva! The noblewoman who rode on horseback naked to protest against her husband’s greed and excessive taxation of his subjects, usually depicted with her very long hair covering her in lieu of clothes.

Another fun fact: the term “peeping Tom” supposedly came from a legend about a man named Thomas (Tom) who secretly tried to look at Lady Godiva’s bare body and was struck blind(or even fell dead!) as punishment.

Legislation was only passed for all states to exempt breastfeeding from public indecency in 2018. Seb gave her the nickname- in German F4 she was well known to be very blunt and had a very fast mouth. Seb called her it over live TV once and it stuck

Lando and Spitfire are old friends since they were always a little different from the rest of the kids - she was a girl and he looked like a toddler

This ask is sent purely with the intention of being helpful and not as any kind of judgment or lecture, I hope it won't come off that way. I just noticed that Patches' fur, long and fluffy and trés luxurieuse as it is, is almost certainly very susceptible to matting, and if you haven't got one already, I really recommend a dematting brush for her. My cat was much the same (and tbh they look almost identical, but Zoey was ginormous whereas Patches looks quite petite) and she needed daily brushing to avoid fur clumps and nightmare hairballs. We used a regular comb at first and it was okay, but the dematting brush was an absolute game changer. We also had to regularly comb out - and sometimes cut - her butt fur to prevent feces build up, and again, having tools specifically for that rather unpleasant job made it a little easier. And with any luck maybe Patches won't try to take your entire arm off about it. I wished I'd known about all this from the beginning; I'd only ever had short- or medium-haired cats prior to Zoey and didn't realize how uhhh involved the upkeep of her fur would be. It would have saved us all some grief if someone had mentioned it to us. It's obvious Patches is very happy and I'm absolutely NOT trying to insinuate you don't take extremely good care of her; I just wanted to share some of my experience with keeping a Lady Godiva of a cat. Chances are you already know all this and if so, I sincerely apologize for the unnecessary advice. Wishing you and Patches nothing but the best.

I do already have the butt-scissors in fact! As for brush, I've got a long-fur brush and Patches likes it BUT I'm looking up dematting brushes and they look like a step up. Especially because, even with daily brushing, Patches still sheds a fair amount so a brush with denser teeth feels like a move.

Any recommendations for type of dematting brush?

Maureen O’Hara (The Parent Trap, The Quiet Man)—They called her the Queen of Technicolor. That right there should help introduce people to the fiery, wonderful, stunning Maureen O’Hara. She was from Ireland, born in 1920, and started in theater at the age of ten. At 15, she was winning drama awards, including one for her performance as Portia in the Merchant of Venice. At 16, she was the youngest pupil to graduate from the Guildhall School of Music. By 18, she transitioned to film, starting off with a bang alongside Charles Laughton in Hitchcock’s Jamaica Inn, and proceeded to work steadily up through the early 1970s. She was in adventures and comedies and romances, spent a lot of time in westerns giving merry hell to John Wayne (and less merry hell to the indomitable John Ford — she held her own even when he was verbally abusive and demeaning to her). I thought she was one of the most beautiful women in the world when I was a kid and I have yet to really change my mind. Always loved her temper and her red hair. Plus she was kind of a MILF in The Parent Trap

I would have to give up my passport if I didn't submit Maureen O'Hara but also have you seen her? Not only did she look like that (she was called the Queen of Technicolor, though she wasn't a big fan of that sobriquet), she was also very funny and tough as nails. She faced off against Walt Disney in a contract dispute and the legend goes that when someone mentioned her at his deathbed, he sat up and said 'That bitch!'. Her comment on that story is "At least he didn't think of me and say, 'That wimp'." She struggled to get serious roles for a time, saying ""Hollywood would never allow my talent to triumph over my face," so she plays the sexy princess/pirate/harem girl in a LOT of early movies that she referred to as "Tits and Sand" films, she being the tits in question. She also turned down so many leading men and studio bosses (Errol Flynn and Howard Hughes are among her rejects) that there were rumours spread that she was a lesbian. She refused to accept American citizenship under that condition and argued her way through every level of US immigration she could find, supposedly saying "I'm not responsible for your antiquated records here in Washington", until a judge finally gave up and said "Give her what she wants, just get her out of here". This made her the first ever person seeking US citizenship to be proclaimed Irish on the record! And while we don't embrace the leprechaun imagery quite so enthusiastically today, her dressing her dog up in a little shamrock hat is too cute for you all to miss so I'm including that in the photo propaganda.

Hello! I am the anon who talked about Konrad's manipulation and mental torture of the reader. While reading Idylls of the King by Alfred Tennyson - a poem which retells the legend of King Arthur, his knights, his love for Guinevere and her tragic betrayal of him, and the rise and fall of Arthur's kingdom - I began to think of a new scenario about Lion El'Jonson's beloved. Also this a bit of rant, sorry

Also this was inspired by the legend of Lady Godiva and the Arthurian Queen Guinevere :)

In some sort of a chivalric romance, Lion falls in love and begans to court a Terran noblewoman. Like Ulrich von Liechtenstein - in his work Frauendienst (trans. Service of Ladies), he retails his often-fictional, self-styled autobiographical where he, as a young knight, becomes obsessed with the lady he once served as a child - I imagine the Lion being the type of guy who does everything he can to get his beloved's attention. Maybe she had lots of suitors, maybe she was from a great family, maybe she was just a plain beauty, but nonetheless the Lion was absolutely smitten and happy to do anything. He duels her suitors, in jousting, in sword-fighting, but most, obviously, simply didn't accept. The Lion was 10+ feet tall "man", ruler of the Black Angels and son of the Emperor of Mankind. No man with a sane mind would fight such a person as the Lion!

He, after a long time, finally can marry the woman he loves. I didn't imagine how marriage with Lion El'Jonson would be like, but it's clearly not that great. He's a cold and serious, who often struggles with his emotions. His wife would have a soothing nature with him and helped him with his struggles. He would be those types of guys that completely changed when around their lovers lol. This guy is definitely a cuddle bug, loves receiving kisses and loves simply talking with his beloved. But, out of the room, he would definitely just ignore her. Firstly, he is a busy, he doesn't have almost to no little time. Secondly, he'll be genuinely scared for his sons to perceive him as weak and soft. He must be beacon of hope and power to his sons which is clearly possible when around his beloved.

Fast forward to the end of the Horus Heresy, his beloved somehow lives through all of it. I didn't think of a mortal living for over a millennium, some suggestions maybe? However, as we know, Lion takes his 10,000 nap, leaving Azrael to take the mantle of Chapter Master. In this case, Lion's beloved would be a Penelope-like figure: eternally devoted and in love with Lion. A legend would form around her, spoken between the Dark Angels, a woman who refuses to show herself, a woman who waits and waits for her husband arrival, a woman would take and take care of parts of Lion armour, such as his helmet and shield, and walks around, holding them. The Dark Angels would take an example of their mother's loyalty and devotion, often pressuring and reminding the Fallen of their mourning mother: "When our Mother weeps and mourns for our Father, you dare betray them?!" or something like that.

I love when people add traditional knight imagery to the Dark Angels, it makes what is usually a some what boring chapter far more interesting. I really like this anon <3

The relationship between JFK and abe from Clone High is something alot of people within the community discussed, especially before s3, being talked about more after s2's finale. Many speculated that the two would remain friends or even become more than that.

Now with season 3 out, we have a lot more things to work out with, specifically episode 3. It's something a lot of people are too afraid to admit, but jfabe/abefk would make the show a lot more interesting, rather than its repeatable joanabe plotline.

So, I'm here to talk about the inner workings of this pair, why their so interesting, and why they work out so much, whether platonic or not. If ur not a fan of jfabe/abefk, or heavily dislike the ship, I'd recommend turning away from this post.

Introduction, the who, the when, the why, the how...and their differences n similarities

So, we all know these two characters. JFK the beloved, Abe the hated. Something that many people picked out of the 2020 clone high fandom. But what if i told you that the beloved and the hated were truly meant to be together from the start?

What we already know is that they are the complete opposite of each other in many ways. JFK is meant to be a parody on 90s jocks from highschool movies and tv shows. Abe is the weak nerd who desperately wants to be cool.

JFK is buff and shorter, Abe is tall and lanky. JFK is a douchebag, Abe is the nicer guy. The list goes on and on. And they even have stuff in common, such as the fear of abandonment and the fear of ruining things.

But one difference i can note is that Abe is way more naive than JFK, JFK is portrayed as empty-headed, but not empty-headed enough to not realize whats going on. Of course, despite the differences, both characters make a really good team.

And this was even evident in s2 ep10, aka the finale, where they both realize that they make a great "duo of bros who'll remain friends for the rest of their lives". Jfabe shippers were FEEDING on this shit back then you have no idea

So with this stuff out of the way, it's time to talk about my favorite episode out of season 3.

Bible Humpers: A Much Needed Praycation

This episode revolves around JFK getting tired of having meaningless sex with girls and partying hard, and decides to seek out a new life when he and Abe discovers the prayer pals club, hosted by Lady Godiva. And at first, Abe is happy to see that JFK is taking on new opportunities.

"Where the slut goes, the wing slut follows."

But eventually, JFK starts straying away from Abe and his friendship, to the point of even FORGETTING about the broniversary that Abe had planned for the both of them (he literally baked a giant cake for him, look at me and tell me thats straight cmon now).

Seeing how Abe had already lost Joan and Gandhi, he didn't wanna lose JFK either, and does everything he can to make him happy and thats so clear. And even at the end of the episode, it's revealed that Abe even respected his choice on ultimately choosing celibacy.

He really does care a bunch for JFK, liking him for who he truly was (compared to JFK's other dates) and respecting his choices. And despite choosing celibacy over Abe, the two still remain close, which really tells you how great their bond is.

So something HAS definitely changed throughout the years, from them hating each others guts to potentially becoming clone highs next couple...which didn't happen, and I'm still petty about it i will admit.

But even if they didn't become canon at the end, you could really tell that some people who worked on this episode wanted them to be a thing, and that's a good enough sign for me that they could hopefully become canon in the next season if we ever get one (still petty though).

Let's circle back to season 1 again. I'm not making a jfabe thread without mentioning Litter Kills: Literally, which is another episode that jfabe shippers fed on. In this episode, JFK's close friend Ponce dies, and he's left to grieve over him.

And in this episode, we see a side of JFK that we never saw before. He starts wondering why the hell he's feeling all of these emotions, because he's a Kennedy, and he's not used to them. But Abe helps him realize that emotions like this are normal.

And even if the two hated each other, Abe apologized to him in the end and finally realized his mistakes. It seemed like Abe disliked him, yet he cares about him. Abe never knew what if felt like, because he hasn't lost a friend close to him.

So he starts berating Cleo for comforting JFK and was even aggressive towards JFK as well, believing that he was only doing all of this just to take Cleo away from him. That was all because he NEVER knew what it was like. But he finally understood.

He was sorry, but he felt like he couldn't do much to help because he didn't experience the same thing. So he just hugged JFK and held him...for a really long time.

But that was just enough for JFK, all he needed was comfort, and Abe chose to do that. So even at the episode, he couldn't help but ask JFK if he was alright. And by the next episode, JFK was already feeling better. All it takes is someone to tell you that its gonna be okay.

So what I'm trying to say is despite their own anxieties, flaws, characteristics, whatever, their PERFECT for each other. I don't like how people label them as "boring", when their so much more deeper than that.

Jfabe/AbeFK is one of my comfort ships for this exact reason. Their lore, dynamic and relationship goes beyond that, i don't ship them just because i think their cute, but because their interesting, and it may seem like im going insane over a white boy ship, but i truly, truly, from the bottom of my heart, love this ship to pieces, and hopefully people can see that through me. 1. The Sacrifice of Iphigenia

I'm not exactly sure why, but it may be my favourite piece of Greek mythology. There's just something about it that resonates with me. I definitely prefer the versions in which Iphigenia gets saved at the last minute by Artemis (and I'm here for any potential queer readings).

I also think it's interesting how it highlights the parallels between a wedding ceremony and a ritual sacrifice (things like white colour symbolising purity, symbolic death of the bride for her old family, priest being present, a subsequent feast, even the fact that blood was technically expected in both cases). Something I've been thinking about ever since I watched the new Contrapoints video.

2. Hyacinth and Apollo

The original death of a twink! Jokes aside, it's quite a tragic story. What I find the most interesting about the myth however is how Hyacinth was mourned/celebrated during the Spartan festival of Hyacinthia. If you want to get really heretic, you could see the festival as a forerunner of some of the later Christian Easter traditions, with the whole death/rebirth motive.

3.  Lady Godiva

One of the earliest examples of women getting involved in British politics!

Again, jokes aside, I do appreciate this legend because it is essentially a story of a woman taking risks for a cause that she believes in. It also brings up the idea that femininity can be used as a weapon. That is not necessarily my most favourite take of all, but it's certainly interesting - and this old English myth captures that perfectly!

4. The Legend of El Dorado

I definitely think that the legend of the mythical city filled with gold located somewhere in South America can tell one a lot about European colonialism. Not an expert on it by any means (though I'd love to read more about it at some point), but I really enjoyed how it was portrayed in Voltaire's Candide!

5. The Golem of Prague

Okay, obligatory hometown reference. I do find Jewish folklore genuinely fascinating, and the story of a being made of clay that came to life is perhaps the most interesting of all! Some parallels can be traced with later stories - like Frankenstein - or even with things like robots or AI, if you stretch the definition a bit.

It can be seen as a warning that technology can turn against its creator which dates all the way back to the 16th century!

(I also find it really interesting how much emphasis Jewish culture places on the power of words, and the story of the Golem is a great example of it, since words are literally what brings the golem to life).
