To be honest I loved a lot of their songs already before going to the concert, but after it I became fully invested hahah (I supposed gained the Atiny status). I saw them in Brussels in the previous Break The Wall tour and I'm just having my fingers crossed that they also come this year because I need to experience it again hahah. But oh my god, it was so amazing, like I was in the daze the following days just rewatching the videos on my phone and listening to the setlist on the loop, and after that I stitched all the videos I had into a full length vid for rewatch purposes hah

Like it was so hype, the vibes were amazing, they did so well, they had also super nice interactions with the audience and so on, Jongho's high notes live are insane, just 11/10 oh ym god

also there is the BREAK THE WALL fanchant that's an out of body experience if you are there in person, but for this I'll just refer you here;

and it was also so nice to see them just like having fun as well, like the choreos and dances were incredible and so on, but the whole concert was also just so fun with the members just messing around and also enjoying it; like this is really a difference in comparison with just watching the professional performances on yt and so on

just yeah, this was my personality for like months after hahah

You hear a sigh before he begins to talk again.

“Yea, why do you ask?” You asked, curiosity/excitement lacing your tone. Your boyfriend chuckles at you, “Well, we’ll finally be able to meet!” You gasped in excitement, nearly falling off your bed.

You and your boyfriend, Joon, had been dating for about 2 years now, and yes it was a long distance relationship.

The two of you had met online through your art twitter. You did a lot of fanart of your favorite kpop group, Ateez, as well as tattoo ideas. The tattoo designs are what introduced you to your loving boyfriend.

He replied under one of your posts, interested in commissioning a design and it has been you and him against the world ever since. 

Yes, you don’t know how he looks, and he may have various different pictures of you, but you put all your trust in him and you highly doubted he was a catfish.

He always showered you with gifts, and always called you when he got the time to. He rarely showed his face, but you saw his desk and his work area.

You believed he was real and you were excited at the prospect of finally being able to meet him.

“I can tell you’re excited…” Joon started, “I am too..I can’t wait to hold you…” You felt your face heat up as you heard him mumble something in Korean under his breath. 

“What was that?”

“I said I can’t wait to hold you and have you whimpering underneath me, Jagi..”

You squealed in embarrassment as you slammed your phone on the bed. You heard him laughing at you before calling your name.

The two of you sat in silence for a little while after that, nothing but the soft clicking of your boyfriend's laptop coming through the speakers. He finally spoke up again with a little chuckle.

“Well…I bought you a concert ticket…” 

“Joon!”

“What? I thought it was a good idea since we both like concerts~!”

You only hummed in response, not having the time to argue with him tonight, your phone pinged and you sighed.

“I’ll see you in two days!”

Your phone hung up and you went to check your Ticketmaster account, your eyes widened,

You groaned at your friend. “F/n. I don’t think a catfish would drop the money for this ticket like that. It was expensive.”

You grew frustrated as you did your makeup. You had told F/n about what had happened and to make sure you were safe, she was coming along.

F/n was never supportive of your relationship, always judging you for ‘wasting’ your time on a dude that you are only just now meeting. But you also couldn’t blame her, girls did go missing when meeting their online boyfriends. But no matter how you tried to convince her, she wouldn’t listen to you. She didn’t even like Ateez! So she was basically wasting her money.

“What if he’s lying to you about his identity-”

“That’s enough, F/n!!” You yelled at her, finally snapping from the constant negative comments. “If you wanna come then come. But if you’re not going to shut the fuck up already!” 

F/n stared at you in shock. “How dare you? I’m trying to keep you from getting catfished!!” She yelled back and you rolled your eyes pushing past her, grabbing your bag. 

You got your keys and looked at her, “Find your own ride to the damn concert. Don’t bother being around me.” You said leaving her behind.

You were actually surprised she even still came to the concert. You glared at her and she gave you an apologetic look when she caught up to you. 

When you walked into (venue name), you beamed with excitement. Not only were you going to finally meet your boyfriend, you got to see your all time favorite kpop group!

It was refreshing to be around fellow Atiny, you chatted with several around you in the pit. You ended up getting real close from you leaving early. Your blood was pumping through your body when the lights finally dimmed. You screamed as you watched as the members of Ateez came onto the stage.

It felt unreal, it didn’t feel real at all. You couldn’t believe that you were finally here. A couple of songs had gone by when you finally found the time to let your boyfriend know where you were. But you were shocked to see a message from him around 2 years ago that simply said;

“Look at the stage.”

When you looked back up, you locked eyes with Kim Hongjoong, the leader of Ateez, your bias, your Ult bias to be exact. His eyes were locked on you as he introduced himself to the crowd. Your brain froze. 

When he spoke, his voice sounded familiar, and not just from you listening to music. No it was like you knew him on a personal level.

“F/n…” You said, capturing your friends' attention, concerned at your tone. “What’s wrong? Is it that boy?” She asked.

You looked back up to the stage, watching as Ateez prepared for their next set of songs.

“I think my boyfriend is the leader of Ateez..”

“...You mean as a joke right…?”

It was after the concert, and you were instructed by your boyfriend to meet him afterwards backstage. All you had to do was tell the security your name and they led you to where you were now.

F/n was very skeptical and was weary about leaving you alone, but after a while of convincing she finally left, making sure she had you added on Life360 just in case.

You stood there waiting, watching as various staff members worked around you. You were starting to think that he wasn’t going to come at all.

You looked down at your phone and sighed, turning to leave.

“Baby!” 

You whip around to find the owner of the voice, and lo and behold it was Kim Hongjoong. He was now dressed comfortably, makeup gone and a soft blush on his face with a lazy smile.

You smile wide and run up to him, nearly tackling him to the ground with a hug. He laughs and wraps his arms around you, holding you tightly as if you were going to vanish if he let go.

When he did let go, he pulled away a bit to place a kiss on your lips. You melted into his grasp only pulling away when you needed air from the male. 

The two of you looked at each other for a while. One half of you wanted to fight him for lying to you, but you knew he had his reasons, but the other was so happy that he was real and that he was not only your idol, but your lover.

“Hongjoongie…” You mumbled, hiding your face in his chest.

He chuckled as he held you close to him, “It’s so nice to hear you say my name…” He replied, finally pulling away.

When he did, he held your hands and swung them back and forth. He looked like a lovesick puppy, his eyes filled with love and adoration.

“Do you have anywhere else to go?...” 

“No not really…”

“Well…could you maybe come back with me?”

You giggle at his bashfulness, nodding. “Of course, You have a lot of explaining to do..”

Hongjoong smiles before pulling you along with him.

Hongjoong paid for your visit to his hotel room, not leaving until he made sure you were safely on your way.

When you got there, you finally got to meet the other members, it was surreal for you. Just yesterday you were catching up on missed content, laughing as you watched Ateez go about their antics. Now you are meeting them and apparently dating their leader.

To say you were nervous would be an understatement, you were nearly shitting bricks. 

But it actually went over well, Hongjoong introduced you to them one by one. You happily introduced yourself, shaking their hands until you got to Wooyoung, who had a smug grin.

“You’re really pretty. No wonder cap-” He was cut off by Hongjoong flinging something at him. You giggled at this as the rest of the evening with the boys went fine. It was spent with you explaining how you met Hongjoong, talking about how much you loved their music and how you really appreciated how nice they were being to him.

Later on, Hongjoong led you to his room, which you tilted your head at.

“I thought you guys shared rooms when you went on tour?”

“We do, the guys wanted to give us privacy though..”

You felt your face heat up as you walked over and flopped on the bed. Hongjoong then joined you, leaning his head on your stomach.

The two of you sat in silence for a while, basking in the silence before he spoke up.

“I’m sorry…” He started, moving to sit up, you moved to sit up at the head board. 

“Hon-”

“I’m sorry for not telling you who I was y/n…I was scared…” He admits and it hurt your heart with how he avoided eye contact. He sighed before finally turning to you.

“When I found out you were an Atiny..I got scared. I thought you were only gonna like me because of who I am on stage…” You watched him carefully as he continued. 

“I thought you weren’t gonna love me for me…So I hid it. It’s why I rarely showed my face when we talked. But when I saw your face…” Hongjoong reached over to cup your cheek, eyes misty. You felt your own tears welling up in your eyes, threatening to fall.

“Hongjoong…” You started moving closer to the male, your faces barely touching. “I’m in love with you…all of you…the Idol you and the normal you. Yes I may be an Atiny, but I love you. Not your career.” You say softly leaning on him. 

“I was worried…that you wouldn’t like me once you met me. That you would’ve thought I was a weirdo or that-mmph!” Your rant was cut off by Hongjoong kissing you, he pulled you into his arms, your eyes widened as he silenced you. They eventually fluttered closed as he deepened the kiss, only pulling away to hide his face in the crook of your neck.

“You’re always loved by me…I trust you y/n..”

A small smile ghosted across your features as the two of you stayed that way for a while.

You felt at peace knowing that you could now love both forms of him..

4 years ago today my dear friend @kpopingenue and I were talking and she sent me the MV for Wonderland because she liked it and thought I would too.

And, thus, my Ateez journey began.

I jokingly call it a slow burn relationship. I loved their music from the first time I listened to Wonderland but it took a few months before I checked out their albums and listened to their b-sides.

Even after that I still didn't know all their names (which is nothing against them, I'm the same with a lot of kpop groups I've been listening to for ages. I've been listening to Stray Kids for almost as long as I've been listening to Ateez and I still only know half the members).

Eventually, and I remember this clearly, in December 2021 I had a very vivid dream about buying Zero Fever Part 2 and I took that as a sign and ordered it as soon as I woke up.

It was funny because I knew some of the members at this point but not all of them and I had to text a photo of my photocards to a friend because I knew one of them was San, but I had no idea who the other one was (it was Yeosang).

After that, it became a pay day treat. Every month when I got paid, I'd treat myself to an Ateez album until I had them all. I now have at least one version of every album including all the Japanese ones.

And I finally sat down and watched a guide because if I was going to start collecting albums I should probably learn who everyone was.

Even after that I still struggled telling Yunho and Jongho apart for the longest time, and I have no idea why because now that I know them well I can see that they don't look anything like each other.

So, this carried on for a couple more years. I was happily collecting my albums and watching new MVs when they came out, but I still, for whatever reason, hadn't crossed the bridge into the fandom side of things. I was just quietly enjoying them by myself.

Then Will came out, and I don't know why, but that album rewired something in my brain. Suddenly I was fully obsessed. I watched Hongjoong's behind the scenes of Matz vlog, and suddenly I wanted to make gifs, but proper gifs not just a using a screen recorder which was all I'd ever done before.

I had an ancient version of Photoshop (which I have now upgraded) so I found a gif making tutorial for beginners. The gifs I made were very basic, but I had made them, and I was proud of myself for learning a thing.

Then I decided that to practice and learn new colouring styles, it would be fun to make gifs of all the Ateez MVs. So I did! It took a good few weeks of making a new set every evening, but I did it, and I can definitely see how I've improved as I've gone along.

And there we have it. 4 years from watching an MV to collecting albums to learning how to make gifs. And along the way I've reconnected with some old friends who love Ateez, and made some amazing new friends too. I went to my first ever cupsleeve in May, and I've been to a couple more since then, with another one on the calendar for later this month (happy birthday Mingi). And next time they come to the UK I am definitely going to try and get tickets, which will also make them my first kpop concert.

It's taken me a long time to get here, but the important thing is I made it.

Previously on The Line Between Love and War:

The rest of the live turned out better than you thought. There were not many questions aimed your way, but you shared that your favorite color was blue, you were from California, and that your ult kpop groups were BTS (of course), Ateez, Iz*one, and Twice, but that you also listened to others as well.

The boys also learned something new, not even realizing that you listened to other groups besides them. They had gotten a little jealous that you liked another kpop boy group, but would wait until later to tease you.

The night ended with plenty more kisses and cuddles after the live ended, discussions of how the week would look, and falling asleep in each other’s arms as you squeezed in together on Jin and Yoongi’s bed.

When the boys woke up the next morning for their concert fittings, you weren’t with them. The place where you were sleeping against Yoongi was absent, and cold, making the group of soulmates frantic. They searched the hotel room for you, not finding you anywhere. They called your name but heard nothing in return.

“Do you think she went out? Maybe to the hotel gift shop? She did like the stuffed animals there?” Jimin questioned Namjoon, who was on his phone looking for Seungho’s number. Jin was on the phone with Sejin, letting him know that they might be a little late to the meeting room that Big Hit had rented for their fittings within the hotel.

Jungkook and Taehyung had gone back to the room to see if you left your phone or not when they heard some rustling from within the closet. Looking at each other, Taehyung motioned for Jungkook to open the closet door, and after rolling his eyes, he moved forward.

He was not expecting to find you, huddled up with your Shooky plushie and the headphones Yoongi got you, rocking back and forth. Jungkook immediately motioned for Taehyung to get the others while he kneeled on the ground, moving to be in your line of sight.

When you woke up that morning, everything was too much. You could feel everything, even the stitching within the sheets and in Yoongi’s shirt against your cheek. The sun burned your skin from where it was peaking in from the window and every breath had you wanting to gag. You were overstimulated…to the extreme.

You thought you had done well yesterday, but it seems your body disagrees with you. Sitting up, you noticed that it was still early and that the boys were still awake. You didn’t want to disturb them when they had a lot going on today, so you quietly got untangled from the mess of limbs and grabbed your headphones and Shooky plushy, rubbing your hands in a pattern over the soft plushie as you tried to find somewhere dark you could sit.

Eventually, the closet seemed to be your only option. You moved a couple of things that had fallen off the hangers and sat in the corner propped against one of Yoongi’s hoodies, his scent helping to calm you a little. 

You even put on one of Jin’s hoodies, pulling the hood over your headphones and eyes, closing them as you tried to calm down and center yourself, something your therapist had taught you years ago when you thought you were having panic attacks.

With your noise cancelling headphones on, you didn’t even realize everyone was awake, or that they had been searching for you. Only when Jungkook crawled into your little space and bent so he could see your face did you realize.

You saw his hand move, his lips moving as he spoke. You didn’t realize you were crying until he began to gently wipe away the stray tears on your cheek. Seeing movement in the corner of your eyes, you turned to see the rest of your soulmates, crouching down so they could sit in front of the closet door.

You watch him as he slowly moves to take your headphones off your head, their words now becoming heard by your uncovered ears.

“Hey baby, you okay? Is there anything we can do for you?” Yoongi’s raspy tone sends shivers down your spine. When you would normally get overstimulated, you would listen to BTS music, especially ones where Yoongi or Namjoon rap in their lower registers. You couldn’t explain it, but their voices were like heaven to your ears.

You knew before you could feel it in your throat that you would be nonverbal; for how long, you had no clue. You just stay quiet, knowing they wouldn’t understand you even if you tried to motion. They were probably just asking to be polite; it wouldn’t be the first time.

“Baby? Can I, can I hug you?” Jungkook asks, holding his hands out to show you his question as well as verbalizing it. You didn’t know if it would help, you’ve never had anyone ask to hug you when you were like this. Normally you had people moving away from you.

But, when you first met them, their touch had managed to calm you down significantly, slowing your racing heartbeat down and calming your anxiety. You remember the way all the tension left your body and how you relaxed against Jin on the couch.

You nod your head at his question, knowing it can’t hurt to try. However, you almost lose your sight to Jungkook’s chest as he moves quickly, bringing you into his lap and moving to get up with you in his arms. You can’t even yelp out of shock as he does so, you only grip onto him tighter, eyes wide as you look to one of the boys for help.

He moves his hands under your shirt and Jin’s sweatshirt, putting his hands on your back and rubbing up and down. His actions help tremendously to soothe you and help to regulate you. 

Maybe it is true what they say about soulmates, physical touch does wonders to the soul.

“Did you get too overstimulated yesterday, Y/n?” Namjoon’s quiet voice asks as he sits on the bed behind Jungkook, his eyes roaming over your face, trying to see if you show any emotion on it. He knows you have trouble with expressing emotions, verbally and physically, one of the reasons he spent countless hours studying body language. He wanted to be able to help you in any way he could.

You nod your head again, answering his question and inadvertently letting them know you weren’t able to speak right now. Namjoon nodded back, his hand moving to cup your hand, mouth going to say something when there was a knock on the open door, announcing the presence of Sejin.

“I’m so sorry to interrupt. I’m glad you were found, Y/n. But we cannot push back the fitting anymore if the stylists want anytime to make any changes.” Namjoon sighed as Jin stood up, moving over to Sejin. You could hear them speaking, Namjoon and Yoongi moving to join the conversation as well.

This meant there was space for Jimin to move in where Namjoon was sitting. He brought his hands up to trace his fingers down your features, reminding you of a dream you had. Smiling a little at the thought, you nuzzled into Jungkook’s neck. Jimin cooed at you while Jungkook blushed, squeezing you a little tighter and adjusting you on his lap.

Your smile remained on your face as long as Jimin traced your features, bopping you on the nose every once in a while. You didn’t want him to stop, feeling calm and relaxed, almost to the point of falling asleep. But all good things must come to an end.

You noticed Jimin start to pout, scrunching your nose up in confusion you watched him start to get off the bed. You reached for him over Jungkook’s shoulders but he held you close.

“Darling, we can’t hold off our fitting. Is it okay if we take you down with us? We can make sure you have a chair down there, and one of us can be with you. We will take turns getting fitted.” Jin spoke to you as soon as Jungkook turned you around in his lap, not wanting to let go of you just yet.

Jungkook couldn’t explain it but he swears he could feel your own heart racing in his chest. He could feel your anxiety and restlessness like it was his own. All of his senses seemed to be in overdrive as he sat there with you and it had him wondering if this was what you experienced all the time.

It made Jungkook become protective, and your soul seemed to call out to his in that moment. He took the time to help put your socks and shoes on your feet and made sure that everything you might need was in your backpack. He even snuck some of your favorite gummy worms in one of the front pockets.

He held your hand the entire way to the meeting room they rented out, holding you close to his side as Jimin held your other hand. Made sure your chair would be near him and that he was your buddy first. He held you close, and like when in the room, he moved his hands under your shirt and held your sides, rubbing his thumb in soothing circles against your skin.

When it was his turn to get fitted, and Jin was on his way to be your buddy, he told his mate what to do, how you liked skin to skin contact and how it seemed to help your heart to calm down.

“Jungkook, I’ve got it babe. I promise she will be in good hands.” Jin reassured his younger mate, seeing just how much your state was affecting him.

By the time the fitting was over with, you were still nonverbal, but from exhaustion. You weren’t overstimulated or overwhelmed anymore, and you weren’t close to a shutdown. The skin to skin contact helped so much, and was now something each of the boys were aware of and placed inside the arsenal.

The next day was the Crosswalk Concert with James Corden taping for the boys. After your state yesterday, the boys were intent on keeping you with them. They had some fear that if they weren’t around you, then you might shutdown again and be alone. That was the last thing they wanted, as they promised you they would always be there for you. You came before anything that had scheduled.

The boys, specifically Jungkook and Yoongi, made sure you had everything necessary for the taping in your backpack. Jimin picked your outfit out this time, wanting to match with you even if he had to change when they got to the studio. He had fun taking selfies with you, saving them to post to Instagram later on.

Sejin had given you an official badge to wear that HYBE had sent in once you were announced to the management team. It had your name and the BTS logo, the words ‘soulmate pass’ on the bottom of the laminated pass. You even got your own BTS themed lanyard that had you excited and putting around your neck.

“Please wear this to all future events. Everyone working with us is fully aware of you and will look for your lanyard and badge when you are not with us or the boys, okay?” Sejin made sure you knew how important the badge was.

“What if it gets lost or taken?” You were worried that if you didn’t have it, you would be kicked out. That maybe they wouldn’t know what you looked like and would only look for the badge.

“That will not happen. Just like everyone knows who the boys are, they will know who you are.” While he thought that may have reassured you, it didn’t. Either way, they were not going to leave your side that day, and Seungho was instructed to remain by your side the entire time. Namjoon specifically told him not to leave your side even if someone else tells him to.

You were currently outside, watching as the boys and James did their skit to be shown before the crosswalk concert actually happens. The boys were in really amazing black and yellow suits. The skit is supposed to be aired on the show in mid-December, and it’s kind of funny listening to them talk about already performing at SoFi stadium.

You watch them practice the skit multiple times before they film it. As they film it, you get bored and decide to move closer to the sidewalk, watching as people move up to the fenced off sidewalk areas and begin to pile into the crosswalks in preparation for the boys’ performance.

It was amazing to you how word of mouth was; there were already what seemed like hundreds of people waiting. You even noticed a couple of cars parked a couple blocks down, waiting with their phones up, so they could move into the lane before the stop lights came up.

You watched James’ employee’s scramble over with all of the props, and the big trampoline practically calls your name. You see pancake and butter costumes which cause loud laughter to leave your lips. Even Seungho laughs a little at the food costumes that go with the “Butter” theme.

“James has a lot of funny ideas.” Namjoon appears behind you, a big smile on his lips as he too spots the butter costume.

Looking over at Seungho, who is holding onto the small handle of your backpack (you told him he could because you didn’t realize you kept walking off and making him freak out in worry, wondering where you went), Namjoon only raises his eyebrow at the bodyguard before pointing at you in question. When he receives a nod from Seungho, your soulmate can’t help but grin at you, dimples proudly showing his adoration for you.

“Yeah, he does! I wonder if he would let me jump on the trampoline after the skit is done. It looks fun.” You respond back, your eyes never leaving the big jumping contraption.

All too soon the shoot is back on, the boys moving into place as the cameras turn back on. You were standing a little bit behind the sidewalk with some of the crew and Sejin, Seungho still holding onto the handle of your backpack. You notice some phones pointed your way, even some people shouting your name or asking you questions you couldn’t quite make out.

“Am I allowed to answer their questions? Or say hi?” You turn your head a little to ask Seungho, knowing he is in charge of your security.

“I would not advise is Ms. Y/n.” His tone is apologetic, but you understand. You almost kind of assumed he would be against it. It didn’t really bother you. You were just curious.

You turned your head back to the boys, who were now rushing into the crosswalk and performing Butter. You saw the pancake bouncing on the trampoline, with the other costumes on either side. It was the first crosswalk concert you were watching and it was amazing what they are able to do in such a short amount of time.

What you loved though, was the people who were just ‘unfortunate’ enough to be stuck at the crosswalk. You noticed a couple of men who looked absolutely confused by the show. One even asked the girls in the car next to him what was going on.

Once the stoplight turned off, everyone rushed around trying to move so the cars could proceed forward through the light. You didn’t know anything past the first part of the skit and was delighted to see Jimin climb onto James’ back and be carted off the crosswalk. Well, more like Jimin was dragged onto James’ back. You were aware of the “Papa Mochi and Baby Mochi” relationship the two had, even if you did prefer Jimmy Fallon’s bond with them.

The boys move quickly to do a costume change, rushing back inside and into their second outfit. While they do that, James comes over to you and Seungho, who pulls you back into him a little.

“How are you enjoying this so far? This is your first time like, watching them do a skit, isn’t it?” He asks, pure curiosity in his eyes.

James was really nice to you when you were introduced when you arrived on set. He immediately made you feel comfortable and even congratulated you on finding the boys. He was actually kind of quiet in person which was nice.

“I think its really funny! I like the trampoline bit a lot. I do find it funny how many people just have no clue this happens and gets stuck at the light.” You tell him, holding your hand over your eyes to block out the sun. You didn’t have any sunglasses and added that to your mental list of things to buy when you got a chance.

“Oh, be right back!” James runs off really quick and to a table of things needed for the crew before coming back, something blue and black in his hands.

“Here you go! We have so many of these.” James hands you a pair of “The Late Late Show” endorsed sunglasses.

“Ooo thank you!” You bounce on the balls of your feet as you put them on your head. They worked really well and seemed to not just be a cheap pair either. They didn’t squish your head and blocked a lot of sunlight so you didn’t have to squint to watch the show anymore.

When the boys were done changing they didn’t have time for another break, moving right back into the skit performing Permission to Dance. This time there were summer backdrops and cactus props.

“You know, Miss Y/n, this would be a good time to start taking pictures and things for the soulmate account that Sejin and Bang PD approved.” Seungho whispered in your ear.

Your eyes widened as you remembered about the accounts you were going to make. Taking your phone out, you move a little more to the side so you could see the boys up close when they come back from the crosswalk. As they came back from the crosswalk, they noticed you holding your phone up and posed or smiled for you. Taehyung even coming up and blowing a kiss at you.

The boys changed once again to perform Dynamite on the crosswalk. They wore different colored suits and looked amazing as they practically glowed in the sunlight. During Dynamite you even noticed Liam McEwan in one of the cars, dancing through the sunroof. You got a little excited and tried to move off the sidewalk to say hi when Seungho tugged you back.

You had almost forgotten where you were. You managed a little “sorry” as your embarrassment grew, feeling the damned blush growing on your face.

“It’s okay Ms. I just don’t want you walking into the street.” Was his only reply.

Once the boys were done with Dynamite, they moved onto do a little more skits and their short interviews before we were given the okay to go home. The entire thing had taken a couple of hours and left you wanting to put on your headphones.

When you arrived back to the hotel room after the interview was filmed in the studio, which took several more hours, pizza had already been set on the small table in the living room with a couple liter bottles of soda and some cups by one of the boys’ staff members. You were grateful as you were hungry, and so without much question, you dropped your backpack on the floor by the wall and moved to grab a plate.

“Okay, so Sejin just informed me that our interviews tomorrow and Thursday have been canceled. There were some questions that both parties refused to take out so Sejin went ahead and canceled them. So, we now have two more free days before rehearsals Friday and the concerts this weekend.” Namjoon spoke as he scrolled on his phone, probably looking through the messages Sejin sent him.

You moved to grab him a plate with a couple slices of pizza, seeing he was the only one not eating.

“Here you go, Joonie.” Namjoon looks up from his phone to see you sitting in front of him, holding a plate out for him. He smiled before kissing your forehead.

“Thank you, baby.”

“So does this mean we can go out tomorrow?” Hobi asks Namjoon, who nods his head.

“Just talk to security.” Hobi nods his head at the suggestion, already thinking about which clothing stores he was going to go to. His parents and sister would be landing on Thursday and had wanted to take you out Friday while the boys rehearsed. He had security already prepared as well as a couple of reservations set up.

You were quick to realize that each of the boys wanted to do different things for their new free days. You had your own things you wanted to do. You wanted to do some exploring and finish your list of things you had planned from when you first got to LA. You also needed to get some more personal items like shampoo and lotion.

You turn around to Namjoon, resting one of your arms on his knee. “Hey Joonie?” You look up at him.

“Hm?” He hummed as he chewed a bite of pizza.

“Am I allowed to go out tomorrow too? I need to get a couple of things and I wanted to do some exploring?” You also wanted to get Taehyung a birthday gift, seeing as his birthday was at the end of the following week. You didn’t know if you would have any free time then.

“Of course, baby. Just message Seungho and let him know what time you wanted to leave. Did you want one of us to go with you?” You were happy he asked if you wanted one of them to go instead of assuming. While you loved the boys and were happy to be their soulmate, you were still introverted and needed time away to recharge. Plus, you didn’t want them to have to change their plans around to go with you. That wasn’t fair to them.

“No, it’s okay. I can go with Seungho. I like him. You guys can go do what you have planned.” You respond back with a slight shrug as you return to your pizza slices.

“Alright. Just keep in touch with the group chat, okay? Let us know if anything happens or if you need us.” You nod your head in reassurance, letting Namjoon know you heard him.

“I will.”

Once pizza was done you all just relaxed for a little while. You were lounging on the couch between Yoongi and Taehyung. Yoongi was napping and you were leaning on his shoulder as you looked through your camera roll.

You had forgotten until Seungho mentioned it that you were supposed to make a social media account, Sejin suggested Instagram, where you posted behind the scenes stuff for the boys. Well, Yoongi explained that it would be more like your own official Instagram account that would be public, while your own would remain private and just for friends and family.

You had a lot of photos already of you and the boys and then the boys separately. You particularly liked the funny pictures and videos you took of them, like Jimin doing a funny dance to Boy With Luv or Taehyung and Jin playing with the snapchat filters on your phone and recording themselves singing to Dynamite (they used the iconic puppy ear filter which made you have literal heart eyes for them).

“Hey Tae?” You turned to your soulmate who was scrolling through twitter.

“Yeah, love?”

“Do I need to talk to Sejin before I create that Instagram account? You know the official one where I would post “official behind the scenes” images and videos?” You asked him, moving and leaning your head on his shoulder instead.

“You mean your own official Instagram account? I don’t think so but it would be good to let him know. I can message him right now.” You watch him move from twitter and over to his messages.

“He says to just let him know your information like password and username. He also recommends making the username something to do with your name, so it’s easy to find and locate.” You nod your head as you move over to the Instagram app.

“Wait!” Taehyung exclaims as he takes your phone from you, moving to hold his phone in his other hand. He sends you something before moving back to instagram. He does a couple of things before giving you your phone back.

“Now you have a cute profile pic.” You look and see a really pretty candid you didn’t know he took. It was from the day you had gone shopping, you were looking up at Jin and smiling. But from the angle you could see your eyes looked closed and your smile was wide. You looked beautiful.

“Thank you, Tae.” You kiss his cheek in thanks before moving to the username section. You tap on your phone as you try to think of a good username. You didn’t want to include anything about the boys or being their soulmate in your username, feeling that it would take away from the page being yours.

You ended up just choosing a shortened version of your name, one of the nicknames the boys had begun to call you by. A grunt from Tae has you knowing you made a good pick. You think a little before adding the little number seven to the end of your username causing a little chuckle to leave Taehyung’s lips.

“Now for the bio.” You say aloud. You didn’t want anything to personal and decided to take a little inspiration from the boys’ own bios. You added your name, your age, and added a cute song lyric from one of your favorite songs. If this was going to be your official account, you wanted it to be your own account and not like a robot controlled it.

You made sure Taehyung sends Sejin the information he needed and received his approval, even sending him a screenshot of the ‘add account’ page. Once that was done you hit the ‘create account’ button, officially making your own official account. 

Sejin confirmed that he would make sure that you get the blue check mark for your account so that people knew it was really you and not someone else. He said they already had people trying to pretend to be you all across social media and wanted to be safe.

Unfortunately, you had no clue what to post first. You didn’t know what would be a good post, seeing as anything you posted would be scrutinized by people everywhere. 

Seeing your struggle, Taehyung grabbed your phone again and scrolled through your pictures before picking one of the eight of you. It was from lunch the other day. It was a selfie that you made Jin take of all of you, scrunched together and leaning in to the middle of the table to be seen. You all wore large smiles or were laughing as the picture went off.

It was one of your favorite pictures.

“This is a good one, baby.” He handed your phone back with a small smile and watched as you quickly typed in the caption that came to mind.

“happiest when im with you<3”

Very quickly, with the exception of Yoongi who was still sleeping, all of the boys and the official BTS account followed you. Once this happened, your phone was quick to begin to slow down due to the intense number of notifications you were receiving. Taehyung helped you turn off the notifications before putting your phone on the small side table next to him.

“Well, that was nerve wracking.”

Award show season was without a doubt the hardest time of the year due to multiple reasons. One of them being that we were almost always on tour during them. Another reason is that we had to choreograph a lot of new and distinct performances for all the award show stages as a lot of general kpop fans watch them. Which was why BSS and I were currently locked up in the practice room. Our managers and the company had decided to let BSS perform at the GDAs along with Seventeen and for a special surprise, I had decided to do the rap in Fighting. This had, however, made me have to practice a lot more than the other members since I had to write and practice my rap as well as practice for the concerts we were doing. So now that I was finally done, BSS had decided meet up on a rainy Saturday afternoon to settle on some choreography for the performance. It was safe to say that it hadn't been going so well. 

Everyone in Seventeen knew that Soonyoung had a lot of pride in his dancing and choreographing abilities as a main dancer. But it was also old news to everyone that Seungkwan was one of the most stubborn members of Seventeen. This, however, wasn't a good match on an afternoon where we were all tired out by our schedules but still wouldn't let our perfectionism go. Soonyoung hyung walked over to the speaker and paused the song. “Let's go again.” He told us, voice slightly louder than normal so that he could be heard over the rain. The sky outside had turned pitch black. Seungkwan groaned from his spot on the floor. “But we've already gotten this song down! Let's just move on to the other one.” Soonyoung hyung turned to him with a disapproving look. “This has to be perfect, Seungkwan-ah. Let's just do it one more time.” Seungkwan stood up reluctantly but got into his position anyway. When we all took our own positions, Soonyoung hyung turned on the song. After another full run-through of Fighting, Soonyoung went over and paused the song again. I caught his eye and immediately knew that he wasn't satisfied. I'd seen that look in his eyes and mine a lot whenever we practiced together. As Soonyoung turned to Seungkwan and Seokmin again, Seungkwan let out a yell of frustration. “Let's just move on, hyung! We're good at this song already and all of us are getting pretty tired. Could you let go of your perfectionism for today?!" Soonyoung hyung stilled at the words and I instantly knew they had rubbed him the wrong way. He looked Seungkwan in the eyes, his gaze sharp. “Boo Seungkwan, if you don't wanna put in the effort you can leave.” Sensing the tension between the two, I turned to Soonyoung hyung to try and talk him down but Seungkwan beat me to it. “Fine! I'll go! You'll probably be able to practice without me, anyway.” And with that he spun on his heel and promptly left the practice room. Seokmin hyung seemed to have realized the severity of the situation as he turned to Soonyoung hyung. “Hyung, why did you say that to him? And for such a petty reason!” Even though Seokmin hyung looked frustrated, he could probably tell that Soonyoung hyung regretted his words so he didn't say anything else. I went over to the window and when I looked out, I was met with an insane amount of rain. I turned to the other two. “Hyung! It's raining like crazy! I'm gonna go and make sure Seungkwan's alright.” Seokmin nodded immediately. “Sure, Channie. Make sure to stay safe yourself and-” I ran out the door as soon as I got his confirmation, not even waiting for him to finish. 

As I exited the building, I was drenched almost immediately. Cursing under my breath, I started walking in the vague direction of Seungkwan's apartment. The more I walked, the more I was drenched to the point that my clothes were basically transparent. I had also started shivering, the cold wind making chills run down my spine. I felt so fucking cold but I couldn't just let Seungkwan walk into the rain like that alone especially as it was all a misunderstanding. So even though I felt like my fingers were gonna fall off because of the freezing weather, I kept walking. When I was almost at the apartment complex, I saw Seungkwan standing outside the entryway. Heaving a huge sigh of relief, I called out to him. He turned around in shock, meeting me halfway and pulling me under his umbrella. “Chan-ah?! What're you doing here?! And why don't you have an umbrella?!” I shivered violently again and Seungkwan instinctively wrapped an arm around me, looking worried. “Why did you leave practice? And in the rain, for that matter? You know Soonyoung hyung didn't mean what he said.” I said and he sighed softly. “Yeah. I know that. I was just upset, Chan-ah. I needed to get out of there.” I sighed as well, shivering again. That made Seungkwan look at me in concern. “Let's head inside first, Channie. You need to warm up, you're gonna get sick.” I nodded eagerly, following behind Seungkwan into his apartment. Once inside, I immediately leaned against the door, still feeling chills run down my spine. Crossing my arms tightly around my chest, I felt the water drip down from my body onto the floor as I closed my eyes. I felt a sharp tickling sensation at the back of my sinuses come out of nowhere, feeling the burning urge to sneeze grow as my head ducked to my chest. “hih'ItkShUHh!-" I let out a deep sigh, rubbing at my nose. After the sneeze, it felt like my nose just wouldn't stop running. I saw Seungkwan give me a worried look. “Are you okay, Chan-ah? That didn't sound too good.” He walked closer to me and as he felt my forehead, I let my eyes close, shivering again. He let out a breath before letting his hand drop from my forehead, cupping my face with it. “You feel a little warm. I think you caught a cold from being in the rain for so long.” I groaned, my eyes still closed. “I don't wanna be sick, hyung.” Seungkwan sighed before petting my head a little. “I know, Chan-ah. Let's just dry you up first. You go shower, I'll make you some tea, okay?” I nodded wordlessly. I took out a hoodie and sweatpants from Seungkwan's closet before trudging to the shower. Even though the hot water did nothing to clear my sinuses or get rid of the tickle in my nose, it did make my nose run about ten times more than it already was. Great. 

Seungkwan pov:

I was still making Chan's tea when I heard him come out of the shower. I turned around to get a look at him. His eyes were watering like crazy and his nose looked on the verge of being rubbed raw. He was sniffling wetly every few minutes as well. I sighed as he stood next to me, leaning against the counter behind him. We stood there in silence, both of us not saying anything. After a while I looked at him curiously only to find him with his hands cupping his face, breath hitching desperately. “hh'KtCHuhHhh!- hih'AkTShUhhH!-” He groaned after the sneezes, rubbing at his already red nose. I looked at him in surprise. Chan sneezing this much definitely didn't happen often. My attention was drawn back to the present when I heard him gasp, pulling the neck of his hoodie to his face as he turned away from me slightly. “hh'IkTChUhHhh!- hh'GtkShuUhhHh!- hh'hKChuHhh!-” He groaned again as he turned back to me. The sneezes sounded wet and had seemingly zapped his energy, as he slumped against the counter again. But by the way his breath was still hitching, I could tell he was gonna sneeze again. Soon enough, his eyes grew distant and he brought an arm up to his face, his muscles tensing up. “hh'NgtChiiHhH!- hh'HktShuHhh!- hh'AktShUHhhh!-” I giggled at him as he made a sound of frustration almost like a whine. “You really can't stop, can you? Bless you, Channie!” His eyes met mine and even though he was glaring at me, it wasn't very effective due to the irritated tears in his eyes. “Shut up! And thanks.” I laughed loudly at that and he smiled too albeit reluctantly. When I finished making the tea, we went to the living room together. I carefully kept the tea as well as a box of tissues on the coffee table. 

When I turned back to Chan, he was gearing up for yet another sneeze. I waited as I saw his eyes fluttering shut, chest rising and falling with desperate breaths as he brought his hands up to cup his face. “hih’AktShUhHhh!- hht’IkTshUhHhh!-” The sneezes were so forceful that they bent him over at the waist, making him stumble slightly. I put a hand on his back to steady him as he geared up for another powerful sneeze. “hhk’KtChuHhh!- hih’KtShuHhh!-” The sneezes made Chan come even closer to me. I ran my hand up and down his back soothingly and I felt his muscles relax. “Bless you, Chan-ah. Aish, that cold does not sound good.” Chan shook his head lightly, wincing right after probably because the movement made his head hurt. “I'll be fine, hyung. It's just a cold.” I sighed but didn't argue with him, knowing he barely had any energy left as is. We both took a seat on the couch and I felt Chan lean on me, still shivering a bit. I knew he wanted to be physically comforted right now so I let him. After a while, I turned my head to look at him. He met my eyes, smiling softly. A smile of gratitude, I noted. “I would have been fine alone, Chan-ah. Why did you even follow me out of the practice room?” Chan laughed, almost as if he found the question stupid. “Of course I followed you, hyung. Did you expect me to leave you alone?” I rolled my eyes. “But you got sick because of that!” I said, my tone whiny. Chan sat up straight at my words and turned to me, a determined look in his eyes. “I would do it again for you, hyung. Always.” I smiled at him as he leaned back onto me. “You're so sappy, Lee Chan!” He laughed loudly at that, hitting my thigh with his hand. “Yah! Shut up! It's your fault I'm sick right now!” I looked at him in mock-betrayal. “You just said you didn't care about that!” He pouted and then burst out laughing and I laughed along with him. 

We fell into comfortable silence, only broken by Chan's sniffles. I massaged his thigh as he continued to rest his head on my shoulder. After a while, I nudged Chan. He sat up, looking slightly annoyed at being disturbed. “Shouldn't you drink that by now? I put in the effort to make it.” I nodded towards the tea and I saw comprehension dawn on Chan as he quickly picked up the cup and brought it close to his face. The tea was still piping hot judging from the steam coming off it. Unfortunately, the steam must've set off Chan's already sensitive nose as he handed the cup of tea to me quickly before turning away from me and bringing his wrist to his nose. “hih'AktChuHhh!- hh'NgtChuhHh!- HhH…hh'IktShUhhH!-” Chan turned back to me, sniffling wetly. He smiled sheepishly as he took back his cup of tea. “Sorry. The steam must've set me off.” “Bless you. And you don't have to apologize, Chan-ah. This isn't your fault.” Chan smiled at that as he took a sip of his tea. He finished the tea pretty quickly while I watched him and as he stood up to keep the cup in the kitchen, I got a video call. It was Soonyoung hyung. He wanted to apologize for what happened earlier. I smiled to myself as I picked up the call. Soonyoung's face lit up the screen immediately. “Seungkwan-ah!” He said through the call and I waved. He looked down for a while before meeting my eyes through the screen again. “Seungkwan-ah, I'm really sorry for today. I didn't mean to say what I said and I really didn't mean to kick you out. I'm really sorry, Seungkwannie.” I smiled at him through the screen, visibly seeing him relax. “It's fine, hyung. I understand. You don't have to apologize, I know you're sorry.” Soonyoung hyung nodded and then gave me a curious look. “Also, did you end up meeting Chan? He ran out of the practice room to find you.” I laughed at that. “Yeah I found him, he's right-” I looked past my phone at Chan only to find him leaning against the counter, his arm in front of his face, breath hitching. “hh'HktShUhhH!- hh'HtKChuHhh!-” The sneeze made him bend over at the waist and he grabbed the counter to balance himself. I gave him a worried look. “Bless you!” I said to him and he whispered a thank you to me. “Was that Chan?” Soonyoung hyung called through the phone. I nodded. “Yeah, it's Chan. He got sick while trying to find me in the rain.” Chan joined me back on the couch and leaned over my shoulder to wave at the screen. However, his breath started hitching again and he turned away from the phone quickly. “hih'IkTShUhhHh!-” He sniffled wetly before turning back to the screen. “Oh, I see now. Bless you, Channie! Get well soon!” Soonyoung said through the screen and Chan nodded, thanking him. I waved one more time before hanging up, turning to Chan immediately after. “Are you gonna be alright, Chan-ah? You're really suffering at this point.” Chan laughed at that, leaning against me and resting his head on my shoulder again. “Stop worrying, Seungkwan-ah. I'll be fine. It's just a cold, it'll pass.” I sighed as I shifted a bit to make him more comfortable against me. 

We sat there in silence again. I looked at Chan again when he sat up, reaching for the tissues on the coffee table. “Are you gonna sneeze again?” I asked and Chan only nodded, holding the tissues in front of his face, his eyes fluttering shut. “hih'AktShUhHhh!- hih'HktChiihHh!- hh'HktShUhHhh!-” “Bless you!” I said to him in surprise and he thanked me. I could tell he was gonna sneeze again though as his breath hitched again and he turned to the side. I quickly grabbed a few tissues from the coffee table and held them in front of his face, my other hand going to the nape of his neck. I noticed how he relaxed into the touch, his eyes closing as he gasped softly. “hh'ItShUhHh!- hh'HktChiiHhh!- Hhh…hih'AktShUHhh!-” He took the tissues from me before blowing his nose into them, my hand running through his hair from where it was on his nape. Groaning, he put his head on my shoulder again. “Bless you, Chan-ah!” Chan turned his head to look at me with slightly teary eyes, still sniffling wetly. “Thank you, hyung.” I played with his hair while he yawned, tired out by all the sneezing. After a while, I turned to him again. “I still don't get why you did that.” Chan rolled his eyes but there was no heat behind the gesture. “I told you hyung, I will do it again for you. Seriously, okay?” I sighed softly, taking one of his hands and squeezing it tightly as we fell into comfortable silence again. I could tell Chan was slowly falling asleep with the way his breathing was evening out. With our hands still intertwined, I looked at him and even though his eyes were closed, I could tell he was paying attention to me. “I love you, Channie.” I said to him and he smiled. “I love you too, hyung.” He said back, his voice soft and I grinned, getting comfortable as I leaned against Chan too, letting sleep wash over me. And even though I forgot to tell Chan that, I would do it again for him too. Always.

Money laundering is a common practice for gangs.

Whether that money goes to the various shell companies or the very real image of a K-Pop idol, it doesn't matter.

And oftentimes, you find that Bonten - a gang you've associated yourself with for various reasons (protection at first, then the younger Haitani brother, Rindou) - enjoys checking up on their investments.

"Ms. y/n?" You stop adjusting your skirt and look up at your assistant, who is holding her phone close, wide-eyed. "There are some people here to see you..." You question the woman with nothing but a look, and she steps aside just as Rindou Haitani walks past her and into the dressing room.

"Rin!" you shout, forgetting the costume and throwing your arms wide. "I didn't think you were going to make it..."

"I try my best to be present for my girl," Rindou replies, kissing your cheek and grinning. "Wouldn't miss the show for the world. Especially when you're in town."

"Are you staying late tonight?" you wonder, pressing his cheeks between your hands.

"As late as you want me to," Rindou murmurs through smushed lips. You laugh and give him a tender kiss once, twice, and a third time before you pull back.

"I have to go," you whisper just as the voices of the backstage hands get closer. "I love you."

"Love you, too," Rindou whispers, then kisses you again before letting you go and walking out of the room. And you're in a daze while you perform, looking out for your purple-haired boyfriend and his companions. You spot them not too far away from the stage - but not close enough where you could give a wink or an extra smile. That would be saved for later.

After the concert, it seems like the energy is still high while you wipe the sweat off your brow and hurry for a quick change in the dressing rooms.

"Was that Rindou out there?" one of your performers questions, and you giggle breathlessly.

"Isn't he so sweet to come just for me?"

It's like time is sand running through your fingers while you shower, change, and prepare yourself to greet your patrons. You can't move fast enough, it seems. But when you emerge from the dressing room in a new outfit and a fresh face, you see most of Bonten hanging out backstage, chatting and hanging out.

"Thanks for waiting," you exhale, offering them a wide smile. "I'm surprised all of you came tonight."

"It's not like we would miss it," Mikey mentions. You notice he must have eaten just moments before because his hands are devoid of snacks, which is rare. "We've poured a lot of money into this."

"But you did great," Ran chimes in, locking his phone and placing it in his pocket. "I was really impressed with the costumes and the set!"

"It was a lot of work," you admit while Rindou wraps his arms around your shoulders and kisses your neck. Takeomi nods, his face not betraying any emotion other than satisfaction. And Kokonoi... well, he seems to be on a call with how animated he is - hands gesturing as his voice filters in through the other noise.

"Why don't we go celebrate?" Kakucho wonders, nudging Takeomi. "We'll put it on your tab, old man. Mochi, call a cab for us, will you?"

"Isn't like he's good for anything else," Sanzu adds. You look over the group as you walk out, still in awe at the men who seem to have taken you under their wing.

Sorry Sangyeop is a what?! What on earth did he do ahaha? I'm glad you had a great time! It seemed so fun from the videos you posted! One thing that has struck from seeing videos of their concerts is, Sangyeop really has developed a technique for spraying water bottles lol. It amazes me how he is able to crush a bottle like that when I can't even open a bottle :( . I hope you aren't suffering from pcd! I've never actually been to a concert, so never experienced it myself, but I think I'd definitely be suffering after seeing Lucy ahaha

I find it so cool how people get into the same bands but for such different reasons and at different places and times in their life. It's so cool to be able to talk and connect with different people because of the same band.

I’m so glad I chose to go over to wonsang’s section because for soundcheck I was in the centre in front of sangyeop and if I had stayed there I would’ve gotten utterly soaked. I definitely am already suffering from pcd 😍😍😍😍 but the thing is I haven’t even recovered from my onf pcd from the concert I went to at the end of february so… lucy pcd better not last that long 😭😭

exactly especially with a band like lucy I feel like most kpop stans haven’t heard of them or know them so when you find someone who does you can bond really really well!!

keep an eye out for my man ha hyunsang while watching just cause he is so talented. and some of my other favourite contestants other than lucy iirc were mellow kitchen (he always added smth special to the performance w his saxophone) and kim youngso (i really loved him in adventure of a lifetime performance he’s super cute like wonsang)

i hope you have been well and looking after yourself! i don’t want you overworking yourself 😭 but it has been two days since i have come back from my trip (i have been exhausted plus i had work and uni to catch up on) so now i am going to sit down and tell you about my trip!! please grab a cup of tea and a snack while you read :)

so i went to sydney again, and i had a much more enjoyable experience this time around. i think it was because i knew what i was getting into, and i stayed in the exact same place, so it was all familiar to me.

although i did try to use the public transport this time, instead of ubering everywhere, and the buses were so bad, but the trains were INCREDIBLE! they were double decker and the back support moved so you could have a single row or two rows of seats face each other??? SO COOL

anyways, me and my friend caught the train to the airport at 4am in the morning 😭😭😭 (and i finished work at 12am!!!!) to get our flight. once we landed in sydney, my friend wanted to get merch from the early presale stand outside the arena and we were outside in 30 degree heat FOR TWO HOURS, with our luggage. good news, my birthday is coming up and my friend didn’t know what to get me, so he bought half my merch 🤭 bad news, i’m ginger and i get sunburnt in two minutes, so think about two hours… the worst thing is we had an umbrella for sun protection, but my right arm and the back of my neck was out so they were FRIED. i’m currently peeling like a reptile but worth it

we got some food from maccas because we were dehydrated and getting heat stroke, and then checked into our room after we managed to get our stuff. we both ended up napping in the afternoon, which we were both surprised about, because i had my phone in my hand still attached to the charger next to my bed and he still had his genshin impact loaded up onto his ipad 😭😭😭

unfortunately the place i wanted to take him to for dinner, the really good japanese place from last time, was under renovation, so we had dinner elsewhere but we had such a good time the rest of our trip

because we went to see stray kids, a kpop group, we had a lot of activities we could indulge in. they had this thing called a cupsleeve event, where someone in the fandom designs a cupsleeve to represent a kpop idol’s birthday, group anniversary or in our case, coming to the city. and i got so many freebies! we went to this kpop store that doubled as a cafe and the drinks were so good! i bought way too much but i have to remind myself that i can’t get it at home 😔

we also went to the biggest bookstore i have ever seen in my life! it took up a whole floor of the shopping centre and it was brilliant. it had books upon books, categories after categories. they even had an entire chinese and japanese section! i also spent a lot of money there BUT my best find was the entire completed infernal devices manga trilogy!! it’s so beautiful and such a rare find, i grabbed it immediately. i couldn’t find the tmi graphic novels though, but they have them on their website, so i might order them in :)

alright, the main event! the concerts! so i went and saw the kpop group, stray kids, two nights in a row! it was amazing. i was and still am a huge fan of their work, but especially because they got me through a really hard time in my life and really were my serotonin while i was at school 😔 i wasn’t allowed to see them when they first came here four years ago (parents: maybe next year, they’ll come! *next year being 2020.*) so i feel like i finally made up for it.

me and my friend also matches outfits! we did black and green (the concert colours) on the first night, and red and white on the second (to match the stray kids colours). i wish i could send you photos, we looked so slay 🤩

i do not have one concert video without me screaming the lyrics (yeah the korean ones too!) in the back. but i don’t care, it was so fun, i had a blast. and it was even better because two of the members of stray kids were from sydney and they just made it feel more homely :) do not regret how much money i spent on them or the sleep i lost at all! i’m so glad i can slowly start to give myself the experiences i missed out on as a kid/teenager :’)

May or may not have discovered this song through skz’s tik tok… heh. It’s so cute :,) Bol4 never fails to create the most unique and sweet melodies. There’s this song, Blue, Galaxy, etc. I think this will be one of those songs I will not get tired of even after a hundred listens. Pls listen you will not be disappointed!

Crush, Dynamicduo - No Break

When I was in Korea, I went to one of Crush’s wonderego concerts. He is a really, really good live performer. I definitely became more of a fan after attending, so I decided to listen to his wonderego album a few times, and this song stood out to me. It’s just so groovy! Crush’s songwriting style is unmatched.

Stray Kids - COMFLEX

😎. It’s so addicting?? It kinda reminds me of SSICK for some reason. Or maybe it’s only because both song titles are capitalized lol. This is one of those songs where when someone asks why you like it, you say “it’s just really good!!” you know? But fr muddy water line did so well here. Their parts are my fav :)

Young K - Butterfly

This song wasn’t written by Young K, which kinda surprised me. Usually he’s the one writing songs for other artists, not the other way around lol. But this doesn’t change how good of a song this is :> We already know how multifaceted Young K’s voice is, and you can really notice it through this song. Btw why are there so many kpop songs called butterfly ._.

Young K - Bungee Jumping

The best song (haha) on its album!!! And the live recordings of it from music festivals are even better. I get really happy whenever it appears on shuffle. The bridge is definitely my favorite. And the leadup to the final chorus. I feel like this song kinda embodies Young K’s personality for some reason. Not the lyrics (which are impeccable per usual), just the tune.

This past weekend, Madrid’s Cívitas Metropolitano stadium traded soccer balls for lightsticks to host Kpop Lux, another macro concert K-pop experience in Europe, this time boasting acts like SHINee, IVE, ENHYPEN, and Ateez, among many others, in its lineup. 

Tens of thousands of fans congregated on site on the outskirts of the Spanish capital (with even more tuning in online) to enjoy over three hours of songs, segments, and games from their favorite K-pop acts. Though there were many memorable moments throughout the night, it was clear that all eyes — both from fans and fellow acts — were on SHINee, the inimitable second-gen representative celebrating their 15th anniversary this year. 

As the time came for SHINee to take the stage to close the event, the stadium, which is home to the Atlético de Madrid team, traded its traditional red color scheme for SHINee’s pearl aqua green thanks to the many shinning Shawol lightsticks. After a quick introductory montage featuring fellow idols highlighting SHINee’s journey and legacy, the act finally took to the stage to perform “Don’t Call Me,” fan-favorite “View,” “Juice,” and “Hard,” leaving the crowd ecstatic but also craving more.

Before they headed on stage, Teen Vogue briefly caught up with SHINee's Key, Minho, and Taemin backstage at the Kpop Lux SBS Super Concert in Madrid to chat about their time in the city and the role fashion has played in their 15-year trajectory. (And, yes, also teeth brushing.) 

Teen Vogue: Hi, everyone! How are you enjoying Madrid? I've been getting some of your antics online and saw some of you went shopping during your downtime. What have you been buying in Madrid?

Key [to Taemin]: What did you get?

Taemin: First, I went to Loewe and noticed that the price was considerably lower than in Korea, which impressed me. Then, I went shopping at a department store and found a lot of clothes with discounts. I think they were having a sale so I was very happy. I actually saw the photos that were taken [of me on social media], too. I think I did a good job because I bought many things that aren't available in Korea and that aren't as cheap in Korea as well. That was a win for me. [Laughs.]

TV: Nice. Yeah, that was good thinking. So, you had your 15th anniversary not that long ago. Congratulations!

TV: You also won your 69th no. 1 trophy at Inkigayo not that long ago…

Key: Did we? 

TV: Yes. I don't know if you saw this online, but there was a tweet that went semi-viral after that that pointed out how SHINee is now one of the very few acts to have won first place across three decades in these types of broadcasts. I think that's wild because you are all barely three decades old. How does it make you feel to be hitting these types of milestones when you're still pretty young?

Minho: We are thrilled to have won first place in three different decades. But I think it's not just our efforts; these are trophies we have achieved together with our fans, so I just want to say once again how immensely grateful we are for that. [To do it with our fans], it's really a feat that makes us feel happier than anyone in the world.

TV: Across the 15 years that you've been active, you've done a lot of music videos, stages, everything. Is there a style or look you've worn that's your absolute favorite ever? And are there any that make you go a bit like, “Ehm, I shouldn't have done that”?

Key: When we film a video, we can't help but reflect on the trends of the time. If you rewatch our old music videos, most of them do feel somewhat dated, but, at that time, that was the best fashion. Of course, it feels old school now. For that reason, I think I'd be the least embarrassed to pick our most recent music video, "Hard," as my favorite style-wise. [Laughs.]

Key: You think? I mean, we love "Sherlock" and "View," but it was seven or eight years ago, so…

TV: "1 of 1." I like that one a lot.

Key: Oh, yes. "1 of 1," actually.

TV: I think that's timeless.

Key: Yes.

TV: Have you ever liked an outfit that you've worn for a music video so much that you felt like you wanted to steal it? Or have you ever kept anything from a music video set because you liked it so much?

Taemin: Yes, I have. [Laughs.] There are many clothes I wear in music videos that I like actually, so I sometimes buy the same thing or just borrow them from the production team. I actually [really liked] the clothes I wore in the music video for "Hard." We wore brands that are on the up again these days in terms of popularity, such as Chrome Hearts. I actually loved the Chrome Hearts beanie I wear in the video, and I really wanted it for myself, but it was so hard to get because of the limited stock, so I searched through the web, in foreign sites, etc., and I finally managed to get one second hand.

TV: Well, that almost answers my next question, but here it goes anyways. How would you say your personal style differs from the style that you wear on stage?

Minho: Honestly, for me, I think it's very different. I think we have to be flashier on stage since our clothes need to be seen by people who are far away and we need our fans to really notice us and, naturally, the styles end up not being just your regular everyday clothes.

Taemin: I'm the opposite.

Key: [Laughs.]

Taemin: I think my thing is to take away a few elements from my stage outfits. Of course, on stage, it's going to be flashier, bolder, and over-conceptual…

Key: But whatever you're wearing in that era informs your personal tastes?

Taemin: Yes, that's exactly it. My personal style is kind of similar to my stage clothes, but I just dial it back a tiny bit. It's the same vibe but a bit more subtle.

TV: Going into beauty a little bit, I know Taemin, you recently went super viral because Key exposed your teeth-brushing habits…

Taemin: [Laughs.]

TV: Do any of you have any other peculiar beauty habits, or fashion habits, that you have not shared with anyone?

Minho: Mmm, habits…

Taemin: I've been doing this lately. Because my personal style is very cool and trendy normally, I like to spice it up by adding cute items. Key rings, specifically. I recently got a Donald Duck key ring to attach to my clothing, and the fans really liked it. I saw a lot of fans getting the same key ring and attaching to their clothes as well. That was really fun. I was really feeling that for a while.

TV: That's really cute. Any other "weird" habits?

Key: Any weird habits? Well, there are times when we go abroad and [our skins] are not really used to the type of water, so we have to wash our faces with bottled water.

Taemin: [Laughs.]

TV: Been there. Okay, last question. I know you haven't been performing as much because all of you were away for a while, but now you're back together. You had a fan meeting in Seoul in May and are back to performing live again. Do you have any backstage rituals that you do before you go out and perform? Or something that you 100% need to do before going on stage?

Taemin: Brush my teeth. [Laughs.]

Key: We talk too much. We talk too much behind the scenes. 

Taemin: We do.

Key:  And what else is there?

Taemin: But, hyung, I think you also know the taste of brushing your teeth before going on stage. It's refreshing!

Key: Um. We just get ready; that's the feeling.

so first what i want to say is that when they arrived on stage we noticed kun was sitting on a chair while the other four were performing, idk if that was the case in london as i haven’t seen any videos but just to say that yet again, an idol is physically unwell after a very long tour, and ofc he apologized to us and we told him not to, and he was like “i’m feeling better already so maybe i’ll dance a little tonight” and we were all like nooooooo pls rest, also i have to say this in passing but he looks better for real ?? like how ?? kun pls calm down, i know you used to be my bias but don’t come for me like that

anyway. ten. let’s talk about ten. another man i used to bias. coming for me again too. well well well. obviously the man loves his cats so he travels with cute pictures of them, how can i not fall for that, it’s just impossible. he showed us pics of his previous trips to paris where he had shorter hair and he was like “oh should i cut my hair” and everybody screamed nooooooo and surely that would be a crime, he looks extremely good with longer hair, why is that dude so attractive, also why is he so goddamn cute with cat ears when he asked us what was the french word for nyan and we said miaou and he said it and oooohhhh goodbye my heart, also all his interactions with yangyang are so cute it’s like two brothers, and when yangyang said they didn’t need to go see the mona lisa bc they had ten, why are these men so adorable, i love love love them so much, but i was supposed to talk about ten and now i digress bc i’m thinking of yy

oh bc yes i forgot to say, i had a seat way up high but right in front of the stage so i had a really good view - unlike at the atz concert where i couldn’t see a thing - so ig maybe that’s why i’m super happy, it’s really nice to actually see the choreos - and yes i typed whoreos and then corrected myself but my god they did love talk and nectar so what am i supposed to say, i love when men are sexy on stage, i love when they’re cute also, kpop is bad for the heart but it also makes me so happy, i hope they know they saved me, like literally, even my mom said i sounded good on the phone today, i wish i could have told them but maybe i’ll do that another time, they promised they would come back for a real concert and i know they always promise that but i hope this time it’s true, i know they want to come back to europe, esp yangyang he looked super emotional when he talked about how he used to live in germany, i bet he was super disappointed they didn’t stop there

i’m talking too much so i’ll just finish with this, they sound amazing live, they’re super fun and endearing, apparently hendery has a lot of french fans, like the venue literally went crazy every time he did or said something, and ten bought macarons and coffee and a lovely antique mirror and wine and cheese and yeah if yangyang wasn’t up there ten would be my man but it is what it is, honestly the dude knows what’s good about life, i’ll just stop there but i’m going to cherish this moment for a very very long time - and i almost didn’t go bc i was feeling so depressed but i’m glad i did even tho i was stuck in traffic jams coming and going and there were thunderstorms on the highway, it was totally worth it

and pr relationships are not a common thing in south korea, i could imagine it happens but not often at all, because dating is seen as scandalous in korea as it is, it makes no sense for it to be used for promo. some idols lose their careers because of relationships, which makes it unlikely that any of jennie's relationships (including taennie) to be PR. yeah YG are shady, and yeah i can imagine them using fake dating rumors for PR, but jennie (according to blinks) is YG’s princess, they literally don't want her harmed and she's the most spoiled member, if any of her relationships she wanted it to be hidden they would pay dispatch and hide it for her, but they never did before taehyung (who is a hybe artist and hybe pays dispatch) because jennie has never been one to care about maintaining the perfect idol image, dating is normal and she has nothing to hide so she never did.

Why do you think Dispatch is under Hybe's payroll and that Paris pap isn't? That pap is the one who made sure all attention was on Jennie right before Cannes. That pap is the reason The Idol got mentioned in every article written about Tae and Jennie. If anything looks like pr it's that. What is so special about Dispatch that what they say or don't say must be pointing us to the right direction? If they payed Dispatch to not out Taennie it was of little use, because Taennie has been outed. See, I think girlbands are marketed differently from boybands a bit. Both have girls/women as their target audience. While boyband members are marketed as potential boyfriends though, girlband members are marketed as 'examples'; every blink wants to be one of the BP girls. Jennie's image is the 'wild' one and an occasional boyfriend/love interest suits that image. I think it very likely that Jennie is slightly (though maybe close) to who she's been portrayed as. I think YG utilizes her immensely.

Normalizing something only works if you keep it up. They are not keeping anything up. They don't have to hold hands or anything, just acknowledging each other would suffice. Right now they have two combatting fandoms. That is not part of normalizing a situation. Calming things down by speaking out would be normalizing it. This is them causing chaos, and no management team would advise this in a real relationship.
