Bookbinder Yuu

So I should probably be focusing on my thank you fic for 1000 likes and 25 reblogs (there's probably more than that, but Tumblr only tells me about milestones, so thank you all so much for all of the likes, reblogs, and comments), but I had a thought and it's not leaving my mind, so I figured I might as well make this.

I've been getting into bookbinding lately (the process of making books) and I started imagining if Yuu was a bookbinder and their bookbinding tools got transported Twisted Wonderland along with them.

Imagine Yuu threatening people with an awl when they get upset, which happens a lot. (If you don't know what an awl is, either look it up or just know that it's a sharp tool) Ace, Grim, and Deuce to a lesser extent get threatened a lot, and Ace and Grim get stabbed a little so they know it's not an empty threat.

The carbonara guys in the cafeteria and Cater after he tricks them into painting the roses also get stabbed in Book 1, as well a lot of Savanaclaw guys in Books 2 and 3.

Basically all of the Overblot guys get stabbed at some point during their Overblot, and the few people that haven't been stabbed are Trey (although he got threatened in the library), Kalim (he's the only guy that's never been threatened), Epel (I don't know when, but he got threatened at some point), Lilia (though Yuu's definitely tried), and Silver (Yuu's considered pricking him to wake him up, but he's too nice for them to do that).

Moving onto something more wholesome, Yuu makes books as gifts for the squad. They made the Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw, and Octavinelle guys fun, personalized books for Christmas, and some for Scarabia over break, and they always have a project going.

The first-years in particular are the ones that have gotten stabbed the least (minus Ace and Grim), so they get a bunch of random, really beautiful notebooks (mainly Deuce, Jack, Epel, and Sebek, since they'd actually use them), sketchbooks, and photo albums for Ortho, since he can actually use them.

The upperclassmen get less, but Yuu gives all of them at least two books at random points throughout the school year. Trey gets blank cookbook style books that he can write his recipes down in, Cater gets photo albums with covers that he can photograph for Magicam, Riddle gets actual notebooks, just with fun designs on the covers, because that's what he'd actually use.

Yuu tends to write down puzzles from their world in books for Leona, because that's something that he'd actually use, while I'm blanking on ideas for Ruggie.

Azul, Jade, and Floyd tend to get books at the same time, because Yuu doesn't want to risk upsetting one of them. The covers usually match for the Tweels and correlate with Azul's, or the Tweels get inverted designs while Azul's is similar. Inside, Azul and Jade get notebooks since they go to class and pay attention, though there's compliments and small mushroom doodles on the margins. Floyd would get sketchbooks, since he does have drawing moods occasionally.

Kalim and Jamil would usually get books at the same time as well because Yuu doesn't want Jamil to feel inferior to Kalim or something like that. Kalim usually gets sketchbooks because drawing is something fun for Kalim to do and Jamil gets either notebooks or empty cookbooks for him to fill.

Vil gets notebooks because Yuu doesn't know what else to give him, considering he's a celebrity, he can practically buy whatever he wants, so they don't expect him to really use them. (At the next joint class, they're really surprised to see him using a notebook they gave him.) Rook gets scrapbooks that he can fill with his Vil and Neige photos that he gets... somehow. Because he's Rook.

Idia either gets manga-style books that he can draw his own manga in or notebooks in which he can lore-dump for games, anime, or manga, or make theories about what happens next.

Malleus gets notebooks and he's really happy about them because they're gifts from his first friend, so he cherishes them. I have no ideas for either Lilia or Silver.

Crowley would ask Yuu why he never gets books despite the fact that he's so 'kind' to them, and they smack him in the face with a book to shut him up.

THE MORNING AFTER: ONLY FRIENDS, EPISODE 9 EDITION -- SEX, RELIEF, HYPOCRISY, AND A MEDITATION FOR THE HOES

There's a lot to dig into, so let's git it. This episode was more complicated than it actually seemed on the surface -- THANKS, TOP.

@lurkingshan and @respectthepetty came OUTTA the GATES as soon as yesterday's episode dropped, swinging their chanclas at the hypocrisies that larded this episode. Shan read almost every last one of these motherfuckers for filth in her post, naming Atom (there goes my NeoTitle dreams already) for unfairly shaming Boston; Ray, for clearly cheating on Mew; and Sand, for equivocating Ray to Boston -- all while Boston is actually still clearly communicating his preferences to not date, despite people all around him judging him for the sex he has. RTP Senpai points out that Sand is pissed off at Top for stealing Sand's ex-boyfriend -- but that Sand full well knows that while he's sleeping with Ray, Ray was technically still dating Mew. So -- is Sand stealing Mew's boyfriend from Ray? Why, oh yes he is, and Sand ain't holding himself accountable for it, Big Boba Kanaphan Eyes.

Hypocrisy. It was the name of the game of this episode. Or.... was it? It was actually way more complicated than that.

Atom in particular, just like -- where's my chappal -- but let me get back to him in a sec. As the hypocrisies were starting to click in, I saw something else going on in this episode, an opposite to the hypocrisy. I saw some clear revelations, and a learning and leaning into love through the inexperienced eyes of Mew, as compared to the painfully experienced eyes of Yo.

The episode started with Mew waking up at the hostel, unaware of Top's behaviors after Mew passed out at the Halloween party. (Top, by the way, was just -- CHEF'S KISS -- drippingly condescending, hypocritical, and sneaky this episode. Force just laid it awl out. What a performance. More on this in a bit.) Mew parties with Yo, who is like, the friend we need the MOST in this series, and asks her about whether or not he SHOULD like Ray. And Yo has to remind Mew to check himself before he wrecks himself over any sense of obligation he may have to Ray.

Yo's starting to help Mew's thoughts tickle away from obligation to a reality of his heart. At least -- one reality.

I thought of this scene when we went on the camping trip with Sand and Nick, and we had, I think, the best scene in all of Only Friends so far (cc @wen-kexing-apologist and @lurkingshan who were very, VERY right) -- in Sand and Nick clicking into their moment where they're both single, they both real cute, and why don't we see if something's there? Because that happens among friends, sometimes, and if you don't try, you won't know, right? Especially in a queer friend community that will almost always be smaller than a het community, making love that much harder to find. So you might dibble and dabble with your friends here and there.

And they smooched, and they laughed, and they were like, this doesn't work, and they laughed more, and moved on. And they were just so mad cool about it.

The way that this particular line of engagement ended with two pairs -- with Sand and Nick finding clarity, and Ray and Mew together at the social services office and communicating, to confirm that Ray and Mew just would not work together -- was a kind of relief that I haven't experienced in Only Friends yet. The slight lift I got from seeing these considerations and interactions reminded me of how I felt when the tide of trauma began to turn in Bed Friend, where the second act of that series was just trauma pummel after trauma pummel -- how much more could Uea take, I wondered. As we saw, in this episode of Only Friends, clarity roll through SandNick and RayMew, I felt relieved that there was some closure, somewhere, among some of these individuals who had tried, even ever so briefly, to pair up.

But -- this being Only Friends, heh -- it was not only relief that I felt in this episode, but we also still saw a lot of sticky toxicity and hypocritical judgements.

Atom couldn't just leave Boston ALONE. As ever, Boston has communicated to his hook-up that he's not a dating guy, not a relationship guy. And Atom doesn't take the hint.

I love that at this point in the series, at episode 9, we STILL have people judging one-night stands as "awful." What a stark reminder of the ways in which people use judgements against sex to forever condemn those who choose to engage in casual sex.

After episode 6, I wrote a little about the phenomenon of having "feelings" after sex. Many, many people have a biological urge (or even a socially expectant urge) to care/have feelings for for the person they have slept with, whether they had sex after a one-night stand, a friends-with-benefits arrangement, sex in a relationship, etc. Others, like Boston, don't.

Either of these phenomena are okay and utterly normal -- as long as you're accountable to yourself for your feelings, and not placing on anyone else any obligation to respond to those feelings that are only emanating from you, yourself.

In other words: even if Atom had "feelings" for Boston after sex -- what is Boston's responsibility to respond in kind to those feelings?

Boston had the right answer to Atom here. Boston says to Atom: no one (meaning, me, Boston) asked you to care for me. And I'm not here to hold that caring for you. I don't owe you that, Atom. That's not what's assumed when two people have sex as casually as we did.

Compare this to Nick's farewell monologue to Boston (right before Boston is about to have a hook-up, oh my god, Nick). Nick had a thing to say about his feelings ("I like you, Boston, and I am sorry for everything I did, and I am going to move on from you"), he said his piece, and he moved on.

At first, I was CRINGING at what was happening, because I thought Nick would make an embarrassingly grand and dramaaaaatic farewell, of a kind that I saw many of my drunk girlfriends make to their exes at bars when I was in my 20s, all with an intent of making their exes feel guilty for the break-ups that had previously happened.

But Nick, in that moment, actually owned his feelings, despite the timing of the conversation. And we saw Boston respond, ready to approach Nick -- and Nick had bounced and moved on with Daddy Dan, right then and there.

What a MIRROR of behavior between Atom ("Boston, you owe me") and Nick ("I thought about this, and I'm going to end it, for your happiness and for mine"). While Boston and his reputation still remain as a kind of bottom standard for people who want to feel superior when they compare themselves to him (ex: Top, Ray, Sand), Boston himself is direct about his feelings, or lack thereof, and Nick demonstrated that he himself has moved on from equivocating about a feeling of like/love that at least, he thinks, is not there anymore. (Which, from Boston's eyes -- we know now is not the case, as Boston continues to give hints of regret.)

I gotta tell y'all something. I was a party girl, like this group of friends, in my 20s. And I was heavily judged for being a ho. The terms slut, ho, whore -- were all used to describe my behavior in dripping judgement that I wasn't, instead, seeking safe and Puritanical monogamy. I was having fun with and in sex, and I was very heavily judged for it. Maybe, in part, it was because some of my friends had a harder time finding sex? Perhaps. But because sex is so EASY to judge, based on the majority popular judgements against sex -- isn't it easier to roll with the tide, than to think outside of the box and to not judge someone for having casual sex?

While Boston's ho reputation precedes him -- it is a reputation based on an unfair, almost Puritanical judgement against sex, and against people who have sex. (Once again: hello, Khai.) I give major applause to the hoes in this episode of Only Friends. All while people around them are judging sex, and judging people like Boston for having sex: Boston and Nick are not hiding anything -- they are not trying to equivocate away their actions. Their own timing isn't right. Nick knows he's about to go and hit that with a new dude. But they both have clarity about what's happening inside of them at their given moments, and they've become better about communicating what's happening inside of them over the course of the series. It's yet to be seen if the timing will work out for Boston and Nick -- but they're inching towards a clearer line of openness than we've seen in the past.

So. While awwwwlllll of this is going on: Top continues to try to infuse himself in Mew's life. Man. THIS GUY.

Top? Shut the hell up. Condescending foo. And then showing up to invite yourself to accompany Mew's moms? All while Mew doesn't know that you crossed his boundaries the last episode? And that you recorded Ray smooching Sand? Stooping to the very same tactics that got you, Top, caught? AND YOU CALLED A BOOTY CALL? While trying to win back Mew?

And...... amazingly. For Top, it worked. Or at least, it was working for a second. Mew was reconsidering.

To me -- in my opinion -- Top's behavior seems conniving, sniveling, more about winning than about love. But he also knows that he still has a hook in Mew, and was pulling rapidly on the fishing line.

And Mew... Mew began to follow that fishing line again, showing up to Top's building, and hopping into that elevator, with another person that Top had on his hook. And, good lord, now with Mond (MOND!) in the mix, we're going to have ANOTHER dramatic pile-up next week.

God, for me, while there were these notes of relief in this episode, these moments of clarity among people like Sand, Nick, and Boston, I just, like, wanted to tear MY HAIR OUT when I saw Mew and Boeing both approach Top's door at the same time. What the fuck will happen next.

And while Top will try to convince Mew to stay with him, surely, in episode 10 -- Top will also continue to judge Boston to Mew, I am sure. Top will judge Ray. Top will try to "heal" and "protect" and "take care" of Mew.

Top, leveraging judgement against sex by others to build up his own supposed moral and ethical fabric, "taking care" of Mew and leading Mew to think that Top is still a viable candidate for dating -- Cheum even interprets Top's behavior at the Halloween party as "taking care" of Mew -- will it come crumbling down as Boeing the Ex shows up for a little boing-boing?

Dudes, I have no idea, because Top keeps catching breaks! For people at The Top -- that's so often how it works in society, no?

Like I said: this was a hella complicated episode. We have three more to go. This episode captured in a snapshot a group of gloriously imperfect people making equivocating decisions as they bumble along, minute by minute. SandNick and RayMew got CLARITY. Boston got CLARITY on his feelings for Nick. Cheum is getting CLARITY on her association with the hostel. Atom got CLARITY on where Boston stood. I don't know that we have CLARITY on SandRay yet, but.... I dunno, I'll let the capitalists at GMMTV decide that, ha.

Where we don't have clarity is now with Top and Mew, with Top acting clearly duplicitously, and how Mew is going to manage this latest fall-out. I have no idea if Boeing will serve as competition to Mew, if Boeing will be the lug nut in the polycule we're all dying for -- I have no idea. I just know that Top -- who purports himself to be above all moral judgement, winning the hearts and minds of at least two moms from out of town, wtf -- will face yet another challenge in winning Mew's heart that he likely has a stronger chance of winning, due to his station in life. Top was about to come out on Top in this episode, and I wouldn't be surprised if he hangs on for another playoff win next week. We shall see.

Lauren’s Review

This movie is Cool, but it isn’t like, good. Obviously it’s like aesthetically stunning, the lighting truly out of this world, and it’s got a great humor to it. And don’t get me wrong, I love a revenge flick!! But I found myself not particularly moved by the death of Mandy, and thus the revenge didn’t feel particularly satisfying. With how insanely slow it was paced, I was hoping the back half would make the lead up worth the wait with some really fantastic action scenes, but those left me wanting as well. Every cool fight scene that gets set up falls flat and resolves too quickly. Why did he even make that sick as fuck axe if he was barely going to use it? 

I don’t know, maybe it was just because my expectations were so insanely high for this that I set myself up for disappointment. But it just felt like something was missing! The story felt incomplete. Partway through I voiced my frustrations with the movie to a friend, who was like, the perfect way to fix this movie is to have it be the companion piece to a concept album, and then all I could think of for the rest of the runtime was how much I wish that were real

Awl’s Review

I firmly believe other critiques get two things wrong about this movie: that it is slow and that it is unintentionally funny.

The pacing feels deliberate and measured, it seems to be lulling you into the same syrupy state of its characters. It wants to to build an atmosphere. I think this works best when you can experience it as an atmosphere. It would have been great to see in theatres. I got to at least watch it on a giant tv with decent speakers.

And I don't believe for a second that just because it is slow, atmospheric, and moody that this movie isn't being intentionally funny. Red reeling from the loss of Mandy, watching the mac and cheese commercial, and then screaming in his carpeted bathroom has a dark ironic humour to it. This movie is deadpan. It's not thematically or symbolically deep, as much as it may try to make you believe it is, but it does know how to go, this is fucked up. What can you do but laugh, this is awful.

That said, it's missing something, and I'm going to be incredibly controversial and say that the thing this movie is missing is a stronger soundtrack. Music is a thematic backbone to this, but I think the tracks feel secondary to the visuals. This should have been a strong metal band's concept album. Music that hit harder could have changed its sparse fight scenes to feel weightier. There is good imagery in the film, but the audio falls short.

Also the animated sequences are awful. Why would you contract the stiffest animation in the world for a movie that feels like it wants to be a lava lamp?

❦ He would make fun of the killers and how silly they look, he would literally be laughing his ass off everytime he see them.

“Boy I don’t care and that’s not his real nails anyways.” You roll your eyes playfully while laughing and bumping him back. At this point y’all both not even paying attention to the movie.

❦ For the most part he’s gonna be quiet throughout the movie. He will look over at you from time to time to see if you look scare or anything.

❦ You two were just watching the movie until a loud sound scare tf outta you, causing you to jump on him. He just laughed at you then started hugging you closer to him.

“Come on y/n, we all seen that coming.” Just know he said that in a cocky tone while teasing you. He just happy that it wasn’t him that got scare first.

“Not me, that was so damn loud. Zoro that was not funny.” You snapped at him then playfully hit his shoulder.

“It was funny, learn how to not get so scared easily.”

❦ If the movie doesn’t seem that scary or exciting to him, you will see him dozing of while eating. His only motivation to stay up is to see you get scared again so he can laugh and hug you.

“Zorooo you’re going asleep again while eating. Get ya ass up so you won’t choke.” You had to tap him over 3 times cause he was not getting up for nothing.

❦ If you both not scared of the movie then y’all would just be cracking jokes and talking about whatever.

woke up at 2 am in a cold sweat from an extremely stressful nightmare that there was a “disease” meter in SOS AWL

i found it out because i noticed a new icon under my health bar that looked exactly like this

from reading a guide (which i had to do while time moved since there was no way to pause) i learned that

you start with a randomly generated number of hidden Disease Points from 0-100

you can also increase/decrease your hidden Disease Meter by doing various things like snuggling sick animals / not washing hands / not sleeping / talking to certain npcs / eating diseased foods

every marriage candidate ALSO has a set amount of Disease Points

marriage candidates might refuse to marry you altogether if your Disease Points are too high, and at a certain point most npcs simply walk/run away from you on sight, and the music becomes all jank like in HMDS at high fatigue

when you get married your disease points are added to theirs, and if it is over 100% your child is born with the Diseased Personality, which overrides all the regular Naughty/Normal/Shy/Chatty personalities and makes any kind of skill development nearly impossible

i was especially distressed because looking at the table of contents rock had his own dedicated section to navigating his disease mechanics since they worked differently than the rest of the candidates

the rest of the dream was me reading the guide whenever i could, i kept trying to find moments when i could read it but for most of the dream it was really vague about rock, just ominously warning that he’s incredibly diseased and going “it’s best to avoid Rock because Well You Know”

so eventually i learned rock had 501 disease points which should be impossible since it’s meant to go from 1-100 (marlin had the second highest, at 70). i was despairing because it seemed impossible to enter chapter 2 with him in these circumstances, and time was moving quickly, but it turned out that you can cause an overflow error since the counter for child disease only counts to 200 before starting over, so if i got the maximum amount of disease points then it would wrap like 501 + 100 = 1 and our child would have the lowest possible disease of any child

so i spent the rest of the dream frantically trying to gain as many disease points as possible by talking to daryl repeatedly, touching as many surfaces without washing hands, eating failed dishes, talking to rock and agreeing with him during his multiple choice questions, but i got to the point where i was literally bedridden and had no options left to increase disease points since i was stuck in bed and no one would come visit / help me, i was just rotting with the Disease music blasting in my ears, awful

did you ever see/hear about the absolute scandal/drama caused by AWL for the West End version of Cinderella?

Oh honey, I was on Twitter while it was happening. And you had to appreciate the fact that he didn't even show up at the West End production's final performance, and he only sent a letter where the director Laurence Connor read a letter from him where he basically blamed the cast for getting mitigated reviews and called it a "costly mistake" (nevermind that Bad Cinderella is already dated AF for its "I'm not like the other girls" mantra, which would have maybe worked in 2005 if it came out around the time Wicked did, but now? Nah), while quite a few cast members were clearly holding back tears of anger. And then the letter got booed by the public, AS IT SHOULD.

And do you know what happened in the same weekend? Patti LuPone won her third Tony for playing Joanne in Company. It was DELICIOUS.

(And it wasn't even the first time he did it that with a cast for one of his shows: the London production of Love Never Dies learned similarly to Patti LuPone and the Cinderella cast that the production would be closing and that they would be without a job, mainly because ALW had just opened the revamped production in Melbourne and the London production was not financially successful from the get-go. And they all had to shut their mouths because a few cast members were going to be in the 25th anniversary concert for Phantom, so better not piss off the Lord lmao)

thing is the majority of people reading fanfiction aren't gods at literacy. they're just here to read, so I think I should find a balance that makes sense, but also delivers it uniquely and still teaches cool words in the process— cause I'm all about that. but I FOR SURE need to tone it down with the complicated words tailgating each other because it doesn't sound natural at AWL. just give me some time, guys. Fanbinding 2: Signatures (Print & Stitch)

Current project: A Choriambic Progression

Previously: Part 1

Disclaimer: still new at this. Please don't judge me. And also this is just what I do and really when it comes to some of the smaller details, that's personal choice and stuff you'll decide once you get going and know what you wanna do with it!

Step 1.) Signatures will print 4 story pages on 1 copy paper. I decided more or less early on to do signatures in sets of 20 pages. Though I know to print it by 20s, I still write it all out to try to keep track as I go. I write the total number of pages from Acrobat in the corner, then sort out each signature like so:

Obviously we won't always get a number divisible by 20, so the last signature might be off. But this tells me which pages to set when printing, and how many signatures I should have at the end.

Step 2.) CTRL + P aaand these are my printer settings:

Page Sizing & Handling set to "Booklet." Make sure booklet subset is set to "both sides." Binding: Left. Orientation: Portrait. Then up at "Pages to print" I click "Pages" and set the first one from "1-20" then once that gets to printing I go CTRL+P and set the next signature for "21-40" and so on and so forth.

Step 3.) I grab each signature when they finish and set them aside and group each signature together and easy to tell apart.

Helpful hint: I can tell a signature is done when one side has 2 page numbers side by side that go together (i.e. 68 & 69.)

Another helpful hint: you might need to do a few trial prints to make sure everything prints the way you like. I'd recommend choosing a shorter fic, between 3 and 10k maybe, and making a test signature to see that the font is how you like, what size you want to cut it to, that you're good folding it, etc. Also to get a feel for how to print it and make sure the print settings are right! That's what I did when I first started (I used my own fic Orange Blossoms as a trial run, then In My Veins In My Blood for a slightly longer one.)

Step 4.) Fold! I have bone folder & creaser tools I use for this. Have the side by side pages (i.e. 68 & 69) face up and fold them into each other signature by signature. You should be able to, once folded, flip through and see the pages all in order!

Step 5.) Smush the folded signatures. I keep them stacked and place some heavy books on top of them for a few hours. They need weight on them to settle down and flatten out a bit. You want to get it as tight and small as it's gonna get. I usually keep them under weight whenever I'm not working on them, but I give them a few hours under the books before moving onto the next step.

A note: I try to pick out my endpapers as early as possible and fold and cut and smush them along with the rest of my signature stack!

Step 6.) Cut paper. My copy paper is 8.5 x 11 inches. I know that how my signatures come out, the size I like to cut them to is 5 x 7.5. So with my paper cutter I cut one end down to 8 inches, then the other end to 7.5 inches, then lengthwise down to 5 inches. Again, whatever size works best for you, do that! Just make sure you know what the size is so you can keep it even across the board. (Or if you're like me: as even as you can get it.)

Step 7.) If I have time between cutting and poking, I smush them again, but if not I go right to poking holes!

Or...well, measure first. First you take one signature and mark on the edge where the center is. Then you make 3 marks on either side of it, spread out evenly. (I usually mark an inch apart for each mark outward.

Then you can stack the signatures and use a ruler and mark down so each signature has 7 marks for where you'll poke the holes.

Step 8.) Actual hole punching. I keep cardboard boxes around and use those to cut on top of. I grab a stretch of cardboard and place my signature unfolded on it and use an awl to poke a hole at each point I marked.

Step 9.) I like to give them more smush time before stitching, but after the holes you can stitch them. For this...I give you this Sea Lemon video: How to Stitch a Text Block for Case Book Binding. This is the method I use. I prefer unwaxed thread (I specifically use one I ordered from Hollander's) and I prefer to use a curved needle. I also use clamps to hold my "to do" pile of signatures together while I work, but that's because I like to stitch while laid out in bed or on the couch watching true crime videos LOL.

Not going to lie: stitching the text block is my favorite part. I find it very soothing! (Even if I'm watching true crime while doing it.) (Though for this one I was watching Wendigoon instead...weird/creepy stuff is just as fun as true crime ig 🤷‍♀️)

Note: a lot of sources I found have you glue the endpapers towards the end, but I prefer to stitch mine into the text block. I favor pretty sturdy endpapers, which is good since I basically have to do a row of stitching them alone, which might be too much stress for thinner paper.

Step 10.) yep...time to smush those signatures again!

Step 11.) Once they're pretty smushed, I do some gluing. I like to use headbands (which is decorative) and then you need to put down book cloth for extra stability. You need enough bookcloth to go down most of the spine, and a little bit on either side of the papers. Then you let it all dry while you work on the case, which I'll show you in Part 3!

I use PVA glue (I use Lineco brand which I ordered from Amazon) to put it all down. Normally I only glue down the spine, but for whatever reason I also 1.) used excess of the headband that I glued around and then I glued the bookcloth to the endpapers instead of leaving the excess out to glue down to the case later. Oops. Guess we'll see how that goes.

Also, while I didn't get a picture of it...

Step 12.) SMUSH. I put wax paper all around it so the glue wouldn't stick to anything else, then I stuck them back under weight. I've never smushed them again once I got to the gluing but I discovered the magic of wax paper a little late in the game last time, so we'll see how this goes!

Peter 1 and 3 are usually the ones who play crazy games. They play hide and seek, tag, etc...but they decide to switch it up and play a quiet board game! Peter 3 is great at board games and Peter 1 don't like it! So he starts taking cards, moving his piece when he isn't looking, etc... Peter 3 catches him and decides there is only one way to get him back! Long story short.. tickles break out!

The house was quiet. Which was unusual for a Saturday that both younger Peters had off.

Normally they would be chasing each other through the halls, climbing up the walls, or wrestling across the floor as various pieces of furniture toppled in their wake. However, this weekend was a calmer weekend for two reasons.

First, both of the younger Peters had an injury. The youngest had broken his arm in a Spiderman incident and the middle Peter had rolled his ankle from a work incident.

While they both argued they could still be active even with the injuries, Otto and Peter 2 begged to differ. And they were the second reason they were playing a board game instead.

After some bickering, the two had settled on Monopoly. They had set up the game in between them on the couch so Three could prop up his ankle on the coffee table.

Three rolled the dice and moved his piece. "One, two, three, four. Yes! Now I got the railroad I needed!"

"Oh come on! How do you keep doing that!"

Three smirked. "Cause I paid attention to Aunt May and Uncle Ben's techniques during game nights."

One pouted as he rolled his dice. He moved his piece and promptly landed on one of Three's properties.

"Oho the irohony."

"Nooo!"

"Come on Pete." Three stretched his arms above his head and arched his back to stretch it. "Don't be a sore looser."

While Three was distracted by his stretch, One slipped his twenties out of his piles and into his sling. "I don't have enough to pay you this time.

The older Peter furrowed his eyebrows. "Didn't you just get some money?"

One shook his head.

"I could have sworn . . . " Three shrugged. "Just get another loan from the bank."

Peter 1 gathered the amount he needed and paid his older brother. "Your move."

When Three's attention was diverted again, Peter 1 slipped the money out of his sling and back into place so he could buy the next property he needed.

However, Three gave him a look.

"What?"

"How do you have enough to buy the property, but you didn't have enough to pay when you landed on mine?"

One tensed. "No reason."

The older Peter pointed to the youngest's broken arm. "What's that?"

Peter 1 gestured to his arm. "A broken arm."

"Not that." The tallest Spiderman leaned forward and snagged something out of his sling.

"Hey!"

Three held up the slightly crumpled bill and his jaw dropped. "You've been hiding money in your sling!"

One's eyes widened. "How'd that get there!"

"You were the one who also moved my piece so I couldn't get Baltimore!"

The youngest started to scoot back. "N-no!"

"Oh you're going to get it now!"

A moment later, Three flew across the couch and tackled his baby brother to the floor.

"Eep! Three!"

Minding his broken arm, Three pinned the youngest to the ground. "Come here!"

One squealed as fingers wormed their way into the armpit of his good arm. "NOHO! NAT THERE!"

"Dawww, the wittwe baby's awl squirmy," Three teased.

"NAHAHA!"

"What's wrong Bug?" Peter 3 leaned forward. "Ticklish?"

"EEP! SHUSH!"

"You know, you should really learn to ask for tickles Bug. Then you wouldn't have to annoy me or Two for them."

One's cheeks got a pinkish hue to them. "IHIM NOT!"

Peter 3 wormed his hand back out. "Then why?"

"Cahause Ihi wanna wihin."

"Then why don't you just learn to play correctly so you wouldn't have to cheat?"

The youngest whined. "That's tohoo much wohork."

Three rolled his eyes. "That's how you improve at something Bug. Yohou gotta work ohon it."

One sighed. "Okahay."

"Thank you." The older Peter moved to sit up. "Now, if you ask nicely, I could teach you how to play correctly."

One smirked. "So your old man skills can actually come in handy?"

Peter 3 gave One a look. "If you make another comment about my age, you're gonna get raspberries."

The youngest squeaked.

Both sides were quiet for juat a few seconds longer.

"Suhure you'll have enohough energy Grandpa?"

A moment later, Three moved. After unleashing a handful of raspberries into One's neck, Three moved down to pepper another handful into random places on his upper torso. Once he was done there, he saved one especially big one for the bottom of Peter 1's foot that almost earned him a kick to the face.

Three then leaned over the giggly form of his baby brother. "Any more wisecracks you wanna give?"

The youngest looked like he was debating another retort.

"Ihive still got some raspberries left to give you ihif you wanna say it Bubba."

"Suhurprised yohou still have ahany breheath leheft without yohour oxygen tahAAAANK! NAAAA!"

Peter 3 repeated the same process as before. A group to the neck, a handful to his upper torso, and a few to his feet. However, instead of ending with his feet, Three saved his biggest raspberry for his baby brother's belly button.

Peter 1 collapsed into a puddle of giggles after Three was done.

"Ahare you done now? Ohor do you want to keep going?"

One gave his older brother the biggest smirk he could. "Yohour raspberrihies hahavent wohon yeEET!"

While Peter 1 went on with his rant, Three's head had dipped closer to his tummy, stopping a few inches above.

Three smirked up at the youngest. "I was trying to go easy on you Bug. But if you want more, I can give you more."

Peter 1 turtled at the threat. He hid his face behind his one good hand.

While he was hiding, two hands wrapped around his hips. "Five. . ."

"Eep! Yohou suck!"

"Four . . ."

"Don't cohount!"

A gentle squeeze. "Three. . ."

"Eep! You . . .!"

"Two . . ."

"Grumpyhy old mahan!"

There was a pause.

"One!"

One squealed and pressed a hand to his brother's head as he unleashed the worst tickle weapon he had.

Facial hair.

Three had been trying to grow out the scruff on his face into a sensible beard and it was his favorite tickle weapon to use on his younger brother.

To save his energy, Three slowly moved his face around while squeezing One's hips. This made One buck and scratch his own tummy against the facial hair rather than Three having to do it.

"NAHAHA---." The youngest Peter snorted. "OHOKAY! OKAHAHAY!"

Peter 3 lifted his head. "Okay what?"

"Ihim sorryhy."

"For?"

One bit his lip again.

Three leaned forward. "For?"

"Ahh! I'm sorry for calling you old! I'm sorryhyhy!"

"Thank you." Peter 3 sat back up.

Peter 1 took a big breath. "Woohohoo."

"You good?"

Peter 1 gave his older brother a thumbs up. "Ihim gohood. Myhy stomach juhust tinglehels."

"Awwww."

One scowled. "Nohot aww! Yohou wehere a jerk!"

"By giving you what you wanted?"

The blush on Peter 1's face crept down to his neck.

"Yeah, I'm juwst a big buwwy, awent I?"

"Shhhhh."

Three chuckled. "Now, do you want to stay there, or do you want me to show you how to play Monopoly properly?"

During their struggle, the younger two Peters had tipped the board off the couch and down to the floor.

They simply restarted the game and this time, Peter 3 showed Peter 1 the proper way to smoke somebody at Monopoly.

Should I bother watching or reading anything with Starscream in it at all? It just seems like everything he’s in, he’s bashed so bad by the writers that I’m shocked he doesn’t have a concussion. Liking the bad boys is common for me and he’s my favorite, and while I enjoy some good hurt/comfort potential scenarios, I don’t like the fave getting hated on by the writers ALL THE DAMN TIME. Maybe I should just move on to another fandom entirely…😭

This is such a difficult question to answer, but I think you should continue on?

i was faced with a question like this a while ago as well, and given my favorite iterations of starscream are tfp and idw, yeah it was clear the writers hated him. in tfp it was very hard seeing as he was the only character that was overly brutalized to the point of it just being repulsive. i actually did not finish tfp because of starscream's treatment. if i went on, it would've become my least favorite tf iteration. idw is not much better.

i can't speak that much for the others - like, cyberverse i know for sure brutalizes him and he's mostly just comic relief. and again, we know starscream isn't perfect by any margin. but it can be so annoying when he's the only character whose brutilization is over done to the point where, it's just excessive.

what's helped me is just creating and engaging with starscream content that does him justice and that portrays more nuance in his narrative and story. starscream is very much a case of the fans liking him way more than the writers ever did, and that is why some starscream fans (myself included) tend to be so protective of him. because the writers aren't and unfortuantely, due to the way the writers portray him the vast majority of the fanbase doesn't like him, or is easily able to just write him off as a moustache twirling villain who doesn't deserve any form of redemption or nuance.

tfp doesn't get better, at awl and neither does predcaons rising. haven't watched RID but i think im going to just to see what it's about. i can really speak for tfp, idw, and a bit of cyberverse and damn they do not treat him that well.

armada and the wfc netflix trilolgy however, give him some justice. wfc does still follow the formula of him being everyone's punching bag, BUUUT the writers do clearly care about him toward the ending.

We also have Earthspark, which is the only version of TF to date that has taken starscream's abuse seriously and calls out the narrative for it. i have my issues with earthspark but that part, that part, i liked.

so my advice is, as somoene who completely gets what ur going through, tfp is going to have a lot of brutilization of starscream. and the writers weren't really wanting him to have a happy ending. that was personally something i couldn't handle.

but i also kist made my own content for starscream and interacted with content that made me happy. and i think that is something you can and should do. like, if you are a writer and arist, writing/drawing happy starscream content and content of him that makes you happy will mean a world of difference.

I've been seeing your AWL posts lately and am thinking about playing the regular AWL myself! :D Your posts about Gustafa are so lovely. Is there any reason you picked him out of the other bachelors!

oh, you totally should! i'm not sure exactly how different the remake is from the original, but if the characters and gameplay mechanics are still similar enough, i'd definitely recommend checking it out. it's a fresh breath of air after playing more recent entries in the series. i do know that the remake does has some quailty-of-life improvements and changes some things about the characters beyond just redesigns ( like lumina being the same age as the protag from the start for example. )

if you ever wanna play the remake, though, xseed does run sales from time to time on the story of seasons games for switch and steam. i'd recommend looking out for one of those sales if you wanna grab it!

while i haven't played the original awl, i had read up on the characters before since it's such an iconic entry from the bokumono series and i was curious about them. honestly, gustafa's always kinda stood out to me since i usually love characters that are generally laid-back, appreciate life & nature, and are on the weirder side. ( *gestures at emily from sdv and jennifer from the fomt remake* ) his design feels really unique when compared to marlin and rock, too. i just thought he was a neat dude and made a mental note to try romancing him if i ever played awl or ds cute. plus, he reminded me a lot of snufkin from the moomin series, who i also adore, so that probably influenced my initial impression on him a bit, too.

i did go into the remake thinking that i might try going for gustafa, but i still wasn't sure if he was the character i was going to end up with. awl has a lot of interesting characters ( and a lot of cute girls ) so i thought someone else might swoop in and become my fave. but then i started talking to gustafa and getting his events... i was done for pretty quick, as you may have saw. 😔 he's just really pleasant to talk to and i really love that his events generally involve the two of you enjoying each other's company, admiring nature, and him sharing his passion for music with you. but, i think the moment that really sealed my fate was asking him to the fireworks festival and being bombarded by how much rizz he freaking has. when he hit tris with "i think we'll both have some sweet dreams tonight" after the show ended, it was over. he really has my heart in a death grip at this point...

oh, and he makes this face when you ask him out to the festivals.

SPOILERS! The Promise, episode 9: 

Well -- I gotta give it to Khom Kongkiat/Uncle Tong. Good lord.

We get THE ONE SCENE -- FINALLY! FINALLLYYYYYYYYYYYY -- of confession. IT WAS GREAT! Determined walking! Singing was involved. Office team cheers! Kisses and kissbacks! Gigi’s TOTAL REACTION was everything. Poor Party and Khunkhao, drinking away their sorrows.

And then -- we lose Granny.

AND THEN -- Nan has to move to China for his job for a massive leadership promotion?!

WHY DOES UNCLE TONG GIVETH AND TAKETH AWAY?!

So what are we left with at the end of episode 9:

1) Nan is able to bring Phu back to Bangkok after Phu’s mourning period in Chiang Mai. But Nan hasn’t told Phu yet about the China job assignment, or about Khunkhao being Phu’s brother,

2) But GIGI spills the beans (PUN INTENDED) to Phu about the China assignment,

3) Khunkhao shows up at Devonte to try to grab Nan AGAIN and make HIS confession, but

4) Nan hasn’t told KHUNKHAO yet about Khunkhao being Phu’s brother.

While in Chiang Mai, Phu says: “I have nobody left.” But Nan knows that’s not true. 

I think, I THINK, it’s up to Nan to figure out how to manage this whole China dealie while reuniting Phu and Khunkhao -- so that Phu knows he still has family that’s alive, well, and in Thailand, all so that Phu can exist without being alone again. Because even if Nan and Phu are together now, Phu would be alone if Nan left -- or at least, that’s what Phu would THINK. 

Man, Nan can’t catch a motherfucking BREAK. Phu FINALLY CONFESSES, FINALLY, and there’s still AWL this shit on Nan’s plate to manage and deal with. 

Regarding Phu’s fuckboi status: do I think that the fear of being ALONE was enough to carry Phu’s fear SO deep into the series? No. I wish this happened earlier. I wish it hadn’t been motivated at the office party by Party’s warning Phu that Khunkhao was about to confess (oh, and Party getting awl messy between Nan and Khunkhao was gorgeous, just gorgeous -- Party, best guy). It was a DUDE COMPETITION that led Phu to finally fucking confess, which like -- not a good look in my part, but I SUPPOSE it did the job. I’m a little grumpy about it. Fucking Phu. But then he lost Granny and was really torn up, and it was beautifully acted, so I have a soft spot again for Phu, dammit. 

Anyway, because Khom’s filmmaking is really seriously beautiful, I wish we could have had at least one more episode of Phu and Nan being together in their gorgeous house or in Chiang Mai. I want to see more domestic bliss, more of Nan and Phu texting “I love you” to each other, because it makes sense for EVERYTHING they’ve put towards each other. The actors have WAY more than enough chemistry to make this a significant part of the series, and I’m sorry that we had to wait so long to get there, and we only have one more episode left, where a lot of shit will have to be dealt with. I’d like to enjoy some peace with these two dudes, and especially for Nan, who freaking DESERVES some peace.

AT LEAST WE FINALLY GOT THE CONFESSION. FINALLY! But it should have happened WAY earlier, and we should have seen lots more of sweet Nan with Phu in happiness.

there’s three types of lines in this file: secret, personal, and comment.

“secret” is the most lore-ish, and only kids with naughty/normal personalities will tattle the town’s “secrets” to you (and say different things)

not sure what personal is since 2/3 of each npc “personal” lines are replaced with “What?”. but it seems to be how they interact with your kid

“comment” is stuff said by normal/shy kids only, mostly their opinion of said npc…

not all of it will be new info but maybe the thoroughness will help if you weren’t sure what your kid’s personality is.
