Gratitude Journal
Yes. I can still find some things to be grateful for.
At work yesterday, I was talking with a younger coworker (I mean, I'm a good 15-20 years older than most of my coworkers, including my bosses) about the election. I had helped her look up her voter registration status on election day, and when she discovered it was active, I covered her tasks her while she made some calls to find her polling place. It was her first time voting, and the poll workers and I were so proud.
While we were both saddened by the results, it was good to have someone to unpack it with. She's got a lot of worries--she was born here, but her parents weren't. She wants to have kids, but now she feels it's better to put that on hold for at least four years. I told her to delete any period tracking apps if she had them, and that I'd talk to my husband (he works in immigration) to see what's true and what's not about the denaturalization. And I told her, if she's in trouble, don't put anything in writing, and I can be a resource.
Then later, I had a customer come in. I asked "How are you today?" as I always do, and he said, "About as well as can be expected." I wasn't sure if he meant the rain or the election, so I made a sympathetic noise, and he elaborated: "Six months ago I was told I had a year to live. I was sad about it, but now, I'm grateful. I'm sorry I'm leaving you all with this mess, though." At that point I told him I was also disappointed, and, since it was raining, I said, "Maybe we can hope for a lightning strike?"

And he laughed and then said, "Lee Harvey*, where are you?" 😳😳😳 Pretty dark, but you gotta find humor where you can, right?
So it was nice to have some fellow Texans commiserating.
*Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas, in 1963.
Also, I have an IUD and it's amazing, and while it's still good for another few years, the replacement time would fall under the incipient administration. I contacted my doctor about replacing it early, and she said we could certainly do that, and then added in a P.S., "As bad as things look right now, we gynecologists have your back!" So that was really comforting to hear, and it was nice not to have her dismiss my concerns.
So there are good people in the world. I have good people in my life.

it's a million more little "oh." moments over the course of 7 years. it's all the "oh." moments that will continue to happen until the two of them stop dancing around this thing that's been brewing since the day they met. (x)

Remember that time we all knew Buck was gonna be struck by lightning and then a few hours later we saw that Eddie was gonna run up the ladder shouting his name and then later we heard Bobby call him kid and then we watched Chimney sit on him and start compressions and then someone broke down the audio so we heard everyone super distraught and then we were just expected to be so normal and functioning humans in society?

I find it very endearing that in almost all of the fics I've read (and drafted up myself lol) that include the lightning strike, Eddie is always the one doing CPR in the ambulance, while in canon, he was the one driving.
We decided that it's more emotional this way, and we won't have it any other way.
Take tips, writers!

okay so we all agree that the ox scene is absolutely a metaphor for something right?
Tumblr media
its- it's just that-
well, i haven't seen anyone specifically remark on the fact that there's then a hard cut to a fucking lightning strike, immediately proceeding crowley getting his rocks off to excited at aziraphale going to absolute town on a bone
Tumblr media
you know - just in case anyone was still doubting the suggestive imagery in this scene.
+ bonus post-coital cronch and bevvy
