A New Mission

One of the elements I liked a lot about the Bad Batch show was how, one by one, each of the brothers (even Crosshair) appear to subconsciously turn to Omega to be their new mission.

As soldiers literally created for war and nothing more, they had found purpose in fighting for the Republic. But when it fell and became a corrupted Empire they could no longer support with their hearts, the Batch no longer had a clear mission.

They struggle with that loss of purpose especially during the first season, but as each of them develops a relationship with Omega, she becomes their new mission--not only because she's their big/little sister whom they grow to love, but because she represents all the good, kind, and hopeful people who are still out there despite the Empire's attempts to crush everyone into submission.

By keeping Omega safe, they can feel like they are still actively doing something to keep hope alive in the galaxy.

Silence endures in the wake of their audience's departure. The air hums with the thrill of adventure and simmers with faint frustration. Felassan's eyes slide over to him, piercing the shadow cast by his hood.

"You will have to use your words, lethallen. I am afraid I'm not fluent in your frowns."

Solas sighs as though he has been holding one hours, no. His gaze casts towards the fire, shadows dancing in the flame, reliving the practised memory. "I seem to recall the affair differently," he says. "You were there, to begin with."

"Was I?" Felassan squints as if in recollection. "I can't seem to remember seeing myself."

"What use are my words if you are determined to twist them?"

"Stories need twists, they're the one way to wring meaning from reality." He passes a warm cup into his hand, its contents swirling with the evening's meal: a meagre portion of soup with little more sustenance than the broth it was simmered in. "Besides that, they don't need me in my stories."

"They are as much your victories as mine," Solas protests.

"I mean, if they look for me in stories, they won't look for me here."

Solas disapproves but reluctantly concedes Felassan's point.

RED

Something about Ed saying "You wear fine things well" while Stede is literally wearing red, one of Ed's colors. The color of love. The red silk, not returned but it's actually always been there. Stede was the heart all along, lost and then returned and now dressed in red under the moonlight. All the theories about Stede finding and returning the red silk (Ed's heart), has anyone considered Stede might be the red silk? Ed's heart too big for his chest. His love, his heart, trying desperately to get back to him all this time. Found under the moonlight again.
