Okay. Got the Light Suit, Annihilator Beam, and all of the other abilities and gizmos Samus can get in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, save for the Lightburst. All that's left are the Sky Temple Keys, a few more scans, and an ass load of Energy Tanks, Missile Expansions, Power Bomb Expansions and Light/Dark Ammo expansions. Fortunately for me, I found the Player's Guide in one of the boxes in my closet! (Along with the Player's Guides for Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Metroid Prime Hunters.) Now if only I could find the first Metroid Prime, although that disc is no doubt scratched up beyond saving at this point. I couldn't get through the Chozo Ruins without getting "The game disc can not be read" interrupting my fun before I lost it. I can only imagine how much worse its condition is now.
I can only hope that I get Metroid Prime Remastered for my birthday or Christmas. I wonder if the remake will have the Metroid Fusion content that the original game (and Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii) had.

As Ori ( @lightbursted ) would venture further away from the paths the Stars had laid out, the Mists would eventually recede to reveal their surroundings as within the rotting corpse of something huge. There was a great vertical climb of sheer muscle Ori would have to mount in order to progress; there was no other way out. At the top of this “room”, a mouth would open to allow them passage to an impossibly open hallway of giant stone hands. When this “door” yawned open, their presence was detected by someone further in, his holy voice echoing against the halls of flesh beyond.
“O little Messenger of the Light, come forth and deliver your divine orders.”
Although these words were welcoming on their own, there was a coldness to the delivery of them, as though the Supreme Angel speaking them were merely greeting a subordinate in business.

Whatever this creature was...It seemed like it was made of light. The Unholy had to keep his distance about him. But, with Mist Reapers crawling all over the place, it would only be a matter of time before this spirit’s own Mist Reaper found it. Shadow couldn’t just not do anything about it, he already knew what it felt like to be lost to the reapers.
“Here. This will help.” He took off his hat and offered it the Spirit Guardian, “Can’t have you drawing attention to yourself.”

She isn't sure if seeing the woods shift back to the familiar scene is a trick of the fog or just her imagination, but it impairs her judgement for just a second too long. As the stranger comes into focus just as she forgets where she is, the bright light they give off suddenly gives her a feeling not unlike a sudden punch to the gut. Hornet scrambles away from them, her back hitting the tree she tripped over... and then the scenery returns to normal. It's not a bug. She's not sure what they are, but they're not a bug. It's safe.
"Sorry..." she mutters. "I thought you were– Never mind." She looks up at the trees, which seem to be solidly the way they're supposed to be for the moment. "I thought I could leave the city like this, now that the fog is in the city," she admits. "But I should have known nothing here could be so easy." She looks back down at the stranger. "What are you doing out here? Do we share a goal?"
wovensentinel:
The mists are in the city now. Not the best sight to return to. Hornet’s still unsure if this is a new trick of the Stars’ or if this is just a natural development of the island since she’s been gone… or, at least as natural as this realm can be.
But it doesn’t take long for Hornet to figure out: if the fog has decided to roll into the city… then it’s not in the forest anymore. Which means she can go in deeper now. Maybe even leave the city entirely.
She runs.
Quickly expending her allotted dashes, quickly remembering that only when she stumbles and nearly falls, she runs into the woods. She keeps moving swiftly, quietly, for what feels like forever. As much as she hates the city, the woods surrounding it are somewhat pleasant, even with the lingering mist. It’s almost like she’s back in Greenpath…
…Wait. Her pace slows as she takes notice of a shift in the texture of the ground. No longer hard, cold dirt, and now softer, more lush… She hears familiar noises, but the fog has started to roll in again, and she can’t see too far ahead. Silhouettes of bugs just behind the fog. This is–
“Greenpath?” She mutters, in disbelief. She takes a few tentative steps forward, almost wanting to chase the bugs just out of reach. Is she home?
Suddenly, a gust of wind, and the sound of swift footsteps. Hornet looks up, watches something dash upwards into a tree. A red cloak, tattered and worn. Her old cloak. Ivory turns to face her, eyes dark, but Hornet remembers. Hornet knows the fear hiding behind that mask. She backs up instinctively– tripping over a mangled root sticking up from the ground, and falling–
Someone catches her from behind. Hornet blinks. She’s back in the Mistwood. Still shaken, she cranes her neck up to see them better.
“Ah, I… thank you,” she says. The feeling of being back home still stings in her. “Do you… know where we are right now?”
A pair of dark eyes stare back at Hornet’s own, their gleam of curiosity far too strong to be outglowed by the rest of their body. Ori had mistaken her for another light spirit from a distance, what with her mask being so much bigger than any other of the bugs they’ve encountered here.
Unlike them, however, they can actually touch this one, and she can see them. The light spirit shakes their head, and returns a look that asks, “do you?”
#reply#lightbursted 01#shes sorta grown past adverse reactions to people that sorta look like infected bugs but!!!#shes still prone to it when 1. shes not rlly thinking straight rn and 2. its been a couple months since shes been here lmao#not quite used to remembering not everyone's a bug again

headcanon memes inspired by things i like, part 2. @lightbursted sent:
[ 🤪 ] what is your muse’s sense of humour like? are they known for being joking, or serious?
He’s not someone who necessarily tries to be serious all the time or anything, but he’s also not usually the one making the jokes and is actually pretty awkward when he tries. He doesn’t mind that though, and he will go along with a lighthearted atmosphere pretty often.
[ 👶 ] is your muse good with kids, or do they prefer to avoid them?
He doesn’t exactly have the best track record with kids and can be kinda rude by accident sometimes, but he does generally mean well. He’s trying to watch what he says better, and he does do his best to look out for kids if they happen to be around.

The Trial Of Kyle Rittenhouse
By Faaisa Abdi, The Ohio State University Class of 2022
October 22, 2021
Kyle Rittenhouse is a now 18 year old white man that lived in Antioch, Illinois with his mother. He was recently on trial for killing two men and injuring another in Kenosha. He was 17 at the time of the shooting. Kyle Rittenhouse’s father lived in Kenosha which explains his connection to the state.
In the summer of 2020, there were a lot of protests against the death of Black people at the hands of the police. The murder of George Floyd sparked a series of protest. In Kenosha on August 22,2020, Jacob Blake, who is Black, was shot seven times. He is now paralyzed from the waist down. The shooting sparked more protesting.
Even before the shooting of Jacob Blake, Kyle Rittenhouse’s social media was full of support for the police and Blue Lives Matter [1].
Some of the protesting resulted in widespread destruction of properties and businesses. The destruction prompted some people to assist the police and national guard in protecting the city [1]. Kyle joined them on the third night of protesting [1]. Kyle kept a semi automatic rifle his friend bought him in Wisconsin. “Wisconsin is a permissive open carry state, and you do not need the state license to use your firearm openly” [2]. However you have to be at least 18 to openly carry a weapon in Wisconsin.
There is a video of Kyle walking around asking protesters if they need medical assistance. Joseph Rosenbaum, one of the men killed by Kyle Rittenhouse, chased Kyle into the parking lot of a car dealership [1]. As Kyle’s back was turned someone with a handgun fired into the air. Kyle began to fire in the direction of the gunfire just as Joseph Rosenbaum rushed at him. Kyle shot his rifle four times which resulted in Joseph Rosenbaum being shot in the head [1]. He also claimed that Joseph Rosenbaum tried to reach for his rifle. Kyle Rittenhouse also shot at two more people who were chasing him, killing one and injuring another [1].
Kyle Rittenhouse was charged with first degree reckless homicide, first degree intentional homicide, attempted first degree intentional homicide, and two counts of first degree reckless endangerment [3]. Kyle Rittenhouse pleaded not guilty. He claimed self defense because he believed his life was under threat.
He was acquitted on all charges. In fact, “the jury was also asked to consider lesser versions of several counts, but were not swayed” [1]. The decision sparked both praise and outrage. A lot of people believe that Kyle Rittenhouse was acting in self decision. Many other people believe that he was a vigilante who brought a military style AR 15 rifle to a protest to incite violence. Many believe that he created the very danger he claimed to be protecting himself from.
There has been a lot of talk about the 2nd amendment protecting a citizen's right to bear arms. Many people want gun reform and gun control laws to be passed while others believe gun control will increase the illegal purchase of guns.

lightbursted:
Ori tightly bites down on their tongue as Gabriel’s scream echoes through the chambers, the emptiness letting it grow. Sparks of light glimmers around the trio from the impact, and they hop back, immediately taking a step towards V1 when Gabriel teleports.
Their hands ball into fists as the result of their attack finally processes. Their stance is the opposite of V1′s - tense, unsure how Gabriel will retaliate, their tail lashing, making for a stark if not silly contrast. They find it hard to relax even when Gabriel disappears for good and all they can hear is a heartbeat that isn’t their own. It’s helping, at least.
“Pbthhh.” a raspberry aimed right at where Gabriel used to stand. Ori takes a deep sigh, wipes their face, and turns to the machine, finally, staring at it for a moment. They look to the hole in the middle of the chamber, to the machine, to where Gabriel stood …
… yeah. They have questions. So they trot closer towards V1, taking a seat next to it and ignoring the pulse of flesh beneath them.
“Are you okay?”
That’s the most important one. Ori’s looking over V1′s metal frame, then his face made of a single optic, trying to … read him. Gabriel hurt it and said some horrible things.
Why wouldn't he be? Returning the look, V1 raps knuckles against its chestplate twice (knock, knock)—the spot where Gabriel had previously torn the metal, now mended after it’d avenged itself with a shotgun—as though to tell them 'Hear that? Everything's in order, here'. How very valiant for them to sound so concerned. A true "friend". Ah, and that reminded it of its own question it had for Ori.
With a sharp movement, it aims a fingergun toward the top of the heart, where Ori'd previously had a front-row seat. It holds the posed as tensed as it had before, stiff and ready to fire. Then it just as abruptly relaxes its posture, switching its hand pose to flap an open palm up toward the spot while looking back at Ori. What was all that about, before? It had to know if Ori had truly been on the angelic side of things before it showed up. Though even if that were the case, it’d be entirely fine with dealing with the light spirit the same way it’d dealt with the Judge of Hell.
