Its that time of year again! The Lifeline Bookfest is back!
Me and mum were there at opening on Saturday (as per usual). I was there looking for particular editions of Agatha Christie books and unfortunately only found one of them but I ended up buying about 10 things lmao, I'll do a bit of a haul soon!
For now heres a few snaps I took in the line before doors opened and then some from inside. Did a double take when i saw that red book in the second last photo. I swear it says Goncharov!
The bookfest is only on for four days this time around so if you're in Brissie and have a chance to go it's running until June 20 at the Convention Centre in South Bank

This morning The Husband and I adventured down to the Farmers Markets, like we do every Saturday, and after fuelling ourselves with cinnamon scrolls and coffee we took on the Bookfair.
Bookfair (or Bookfest if you are originally from Queensland and are confused like we were) is basically a room filled wall to wall with pre-loved books. They are organised by category and such as well. These are the three I got that relate/are semi-related to my studies.
Here Comes Everybody by Clay Shirky
Gender by R.W Connell
Social Work in the Shadow of the Law by Simon Rice & Andrew Day
I have used Connell’s work so many times in my papers so I am glad to finally own a copy of some of her work that I have used way too many times to count. If you are interested in Gender studies you should definitely read some of her work and see what you think. Happy Saturday lovelies ☼❀

Fairs, Crawls & Hauls | Bookfest | Alice’s Haul
Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk -- gotta love Chuck’s work, this is a selection of short stories found in the YA section at Bookfest (which was great considering the Parental Advisory sticker).
Blossoms and Shadows by Lian Hearn -- a stand-alone (how rare) historical novel based in Feudal Japan much like her other books.
A Crucible of Souls by Mitchell Hogan -- Book one in a fantasy series. Who knows, I bought it because of the ships on the cover.
The Girl in 6E by A.R. Torre -- A suspense, thriller. Came home to be told “You’re gonna be scarred for life.” Can’t wait!
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller -- Greek history? Hell yeah! It’s been on my to-read-list for a while now.

The Lifeline Bookfest was on not that long ago, and I went to get some cool, cheap books.
Every time I go they have literal bins full of Twilight books.

Lifeline Bookfest started yesterday and I was there at opening. It was insanely busy even at 7.30am when the doors opened but I managed to snag a few things! We've been talking about maybe popping back one afternoon during the week when it'll be a little quieter but here's my haul from the first day:
Most excitingly I managed to find 9 Agatha Christie titles in the edition I'm trying to collect. One of them is a double because the copy I already have is falling apart lmao but I'm so thrilled by these because last bookfest I didn't find a single one.
Then the next is a bit of a silly pick up but I love the Romantic era and I couldn't resit this study guide sort of thing that summarises a bunch of Romantic poems
Beside it is the Game of Thrones cookbook which I've looked at in stores before but never bought so I defs couldn't say no to it yesterday
Then there are 3 of Georgette Heyer's mysteries. She's another author I'm very interested in reading more from and we already have a decent collection of her romances but I don't think we have many of her mysteries. And I'm so curious to read them. I think she'll be my next project after I've finished off the Christie's. Also how gorgeous are those covers?
And then we have 2 Frankenstein related books. The Frankenstein Diaries is one I've heard of but couldn't seem to find anywhere so I had to grab it as soon as I realised what it was.
But the last one is maybe my favourite thing I bought. It's a pop up book version of Frankenstein and, frankly, it's fucking incredible.
Overall, a pretty successful Bookfest!

Hey guys, the Lifeline Bookfest was on just recently and I picked up just a tonne of 80s romance novels and I decided I really wanted to redo my Sebastian romance novel cover. I’m going to sequel town though cause I didn’t want to draw a horse and did want to draw a Hawke. Dang I like this sketch tho. That one hand I drew is real good? Romance novels are so fun you guys.
