Their Eyes Were Watching You
Life Eater fanart, took about 5.5 hours start to finish I guess? This interrupted a fanfic I’m writing for the same game, it’s already 20k+ but I want to finish it before I post it. Where does everyone read fanfic/things like that anymore? Timelapse under the cut.
Art tip: If you hate your art keep going, you’ll render out most of the bs. If you like your art watch a time lapse, you will find everything wrong with it.

Life Eater is out today
Life Eater, the new game from Strange Scaffold and Frosty Pop, is out today.
If you don't sacrifice your neighbors, the world ends. Life Eater is a horror fantasy kidnapping simulator where you must become intimately familiar with your targets' lives one intrusive action at a time... and hope that the dark god you serve is even real.

Making myself sad making fanart. Also ignoring my fic at this point, but I’m so close to done I think but it’s about 35k at this point. I promise to finish it soon! Muppets under the cut because perspective is funny. 6.5 hours? Idk I draw until my body gives out.

lifeeater. they now survive via sucking a little life force/energy out of others daily. they don't need to eat aside from this and if they really got into it they could suck all the life straight out of a cat leaving them an empty husk. they don't do this though because that's illegal and immoral.

Interview with Joyeur
We caught up with the LA-based female duo, Joyeur. Having recently released their self-produced debut EP LIFEEATTER, we were stoked and intrigued to find out more about Jo and Anna’s inspirations, artistic identities and where they are heading with their music.

Interviewed by Gomi Zhou
Tell us a bit about yourselves?
Anna: Hi, I’m Anna and a producer and a keyboard player. I’m from Haifa, Israel originally.
Jo: I’m Jo and I’m an LA-bred songbird & songwriter. My brother actually played on the UCLA soccer team that won the national championship! Go, Bruins!
Your cult-like yet delicate branding is eye-catching and extremely well-curated, what were the creative processes behind your cover arts and music videos?
Jo & Anna: Thank you! Our aesthetic has been developed through years of trial and error and cultivating our own tastes. Now that we know what resonates with us, we’re able to collaborate with amazing artists to help make our vision a reality. For our EP cover art, we envisioned everything and worked with a few key people that really fit our style. Each video sort of represents a different room in the tour of our minds; most recently the hazy, jungle-like setting for our live video of “Pusher”. We have been surrounded by an amazingly talented community of artists who we trust and have been inspired by!
It’s super cool that Joyeur is a self-produced, self-written duo. Who are some of your favorite female musicians/producers in today’s industry?
Jo & Anna: There are a lot of female producers on the rise who are gaining attention and making a name for themselves right now. It’s really exciting. Some women who produce that we dig are Bjork, Grimes, Tokimonsta, Isabella Summers (of Florence and The Machine), and Rezz.
Pop music is getting drastically diverse in recent years and your sounds are definitely very different from mainstream pop. How exactly would you describe your music?
Jo & Anna: Eccentric. At times, we’re integrating funk, electronic, rock, and even hip-hop elements, but the common denominator we keep is the feeling of power. There is always ferocity, sexuality, a sense of humor and an urge to be free coursing through the DNA of our songs. We want our listeners to feel indestructible. I guess you could call it power pop.
Describe your studio routine?
Jo: It depends on how we start a song. We can start an idea separately or together, but we are usually eager to move forward with something that sparks us both equally. We try to get it out of our systems as quickly as possible and then question things afterward. We don’t allow our internal critiques into the room until the idea is completely outside ourselves. We always have the mic warmed up and ready to go because magic often happens when we’re improvising. Anna will jump from one synth to another while I’m brainstorming and singing. Not everything starts as exciting. Sometimes we each need our own space and will take time apart with an idea before we exchange our visions and take a song farther.
I’m assuming you two came from very different backgrounds, both musically and culturally. How has collaborating with each other and forming a band together changed your creative processes/lives in general?
Anna: Like in any relationship, opposites attract. We are fascinated by each other because we are so different. If Jo plays me a song and I just don’t get it, I’m curious as to why that is. Part of our process is to really expand ourselves and remain curious about our differences. We also found that we can have different creative processes that really compliment each other. I am more structured and calculated while Jo can be more of an impulsive, on-the-spot creator. What we really have in common is our desire to be outside of our comfort zone and that’s something we’ve kept intact from the beginning.
Jo: Really, though. We have always been able to share a vision and what has kept our momentum is that we like to hang out. We like a lot of the same things and that’s important with someone you spend most of your time with!
Tell us more about your debut EP LIFEEATER?
Jo & Anna: This is our first time getting our music out there. It’s so exciting to be able to share our combined experiences and explorations as musicians and humans in general. LIFEEATER is a collective anthem of boldness and desire. It's all about that carpe diem mentality.
Any live shows on the horizon?
Jo & Anna: Yes! We play The Satellite in L.A. on 11/20 with Danke and Jhamasa. We’re calling it “F-BOMB: All Females All Night”.  All female performers! ;)
