Hello hello everyone.
I've seen that quite a few people who started following me lately have very different opinions than yours truly.
Now, I'm just going to assume it's because you want to see what someone like me has to say about certain things, though I actually doubt that is the case given how you respond to other people.
But yeah, assuming everyone is going to have the best intentions from here, I'd like to say this:
I love having conversations with people who may view the world in a different light. I think dialogue is the best way to advance in society and not create a further divide.
However, all of you must know that if you follow me, you'll probably run into a lot of opinions you won't agree with, since my ideas are diametrically opposed to yours. Those ideas and jokes may make you angry, and that's fair. I'm not standing on a high horse claiming that certain ideas also don't make me angry. But that is the reason I don't follow political blogs that hold them.
Now. The last thing I want is causing further resentment and divide. I've stated many times that I think there's waaay too much of it right now.
So, if you already know that following me will only lead to hateful comments and scathing anonymous asks, I respectfully ask you to unfollow me, maybe even block me. While those messages do nothing to me, I imagine that getting to a level of bitterness so high that forces you to send that message does.
Let me be a bit of a hippy here. I want to build bridges. Not burn them down. But if those bridges only lead to hate and unsolicited attacks, well... Let me be a bit of a Trump here, I'll build a wall. Lol.
But, if after reading this, you actually want to keep following me to get a better grasp on another view point, then you are more than welcome, and I hope the stuff I reblog doesn't bother you too much.
TL;Dr: if you want to follow me just for an excuse to get mad, don't. There is no good reason. If you want to follow me to have a civil conversation, you are more than welcome. Just don't risk getting mad at pixels on a screen. It isn't worth it.

just saw someone say that the reason american politicians aren't pushing to give third parties better chances in elections is because the majority of third parties are communist leaning. lmao.

Stared a new blog dedicated to all things political in the US. Cutting through the bullshit and lies, speaking truth to power. Especially with this year being an election year.
I've wanted a blog just talking about politics, what's going on in our country now, how the polarization of our country has truly become a problem in ways no one could have predicted, US foreign policies are huge issue, etc.
As I'm a liberal, (a far left) that will be my perspective. That is not to say other perspectives and view points won't be shared.
I hope if you so interested you'll come goin me @demontruth

I am in the middle of reading ""A Libertarian Walks Into a Bear" which is a nonfiction about the intersection of a libertarian utopian movement and..... bears. The kind with paws, for clarity.
It's a stunning and compelling piece of writing so far, kind of both beautiful and absurd.
It's also got quotes about bears from literature in the beginning of each chapter, and that's its own rabbit hole.
For instance:
The Smokey the Bear Sutra is a 1969 poem by Gary Snyder which presents environmental concerns in the form of a Buddhist sutra, and depicts Smokey as the reincarnation of Vairocana Buddha. Snyder composed the poem in one night for a February 1969 Sierra Club Wilderness Conference, at which he distributed the first copies. It was later performed during the first Earth Day celebrations in 1970. A note at the end of the poem states that it "may be reproduced free forever" thus dedicating it to the public domain, and it has since been widely disseminated in print and electronic forms.

one of my pet peeve on this website is when of my post starts making rounds and ends up reblogged by one popular blogger, and then their followers start debating and adding unnecessary comments on it, and when I try to (politely) tell them how they're actually incorrect / misinterpreting my point they clown me à la "who asked you?🤪" when this is MY post and I am absolutely entitled to purge it off their shitty takes!! this shit is precisely why I preventively block shady Christians bloggers out there btw because I REFUSE to have their disgusting community anywhere near my post

I hate that history classes and teachings likes to paint movements as one person. I know that's probably to simplify complicated events or because when telling it's easier to focus on one person or just because of good ol' fashion American individualism bullshit, but the more conspiracy theory part of me wonders if it's a little bit the state trying to make people think they need some like messiah to make change. Like the movement completely relied on one person. The Civil Rights Movement wasn't just MLK. Indian independence wasn't just Gandhi. The anti-apartheid movement wasn't just Mandela.
Giving into doom helps no one and is exactly what fascists and the state wants. It's okay to feel depressed. It's okay to feel overwhelmed by things are getting better and that's why fascism is on the rise. Fascists are cowards. They're losing power and they're scared. That's why they're pushing so hard. That's why we need to keep pushing back. Look for activism stuff in your group. Join leftist organizations. See what needs to be done in your community! (If you can obviously, as Marx says, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs") They want you to think that you're on your own. That no one is coming to save you or that you need to save yourself, but you're not alone. You're never alone. You've always got your comrades! ^-^
We live in capitalism, its power seems inescapable — but then, so did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art. Very often in our art, the art of words.
- Ursula K. Le Guin
You must believe that the world is going to change. You must believe that you can change it. Not alone, like some ruggedly individualist caped superhero, but as part of a mass movement, a superorganism, a shared heart, a moment of unity. You must trust that your actions matter, even when they don’t. You must remember that even if going to a protest or opening your doors to the desperate or giving up hyperpconsumption cannot alter the wider societal patterns if only you undertake to do so, that you are just one drop of water in an ocean. And it will change you. That is often the first step. You must believe that one day all the fossils will stay in the ground. You must believe that one day war will be a distant memory. You must believe that one day women will dance in the streets at night unafraid. You must believe that one day land will belong to everyone and queer liberation will be achieved. You must believe it. Even if your great-grandchildren do not live to see it done. Prefiguration is praxis. It’s therapy. It’s all we have.
